The Randomly Generated SMT Story

Shin Megami Tensei: The Devil Survivors

Summary: This story is the result of a roulette with various SMT characters from different series. The roulette decided their roles and various aspects of this story.

Chapter 3 Day 1: Metamorphosis Part 1

“I’ll only be giving it to trusted members of the police force. I don’t want the Program to get misused.”, Nakajima conceded.

“We’re fine with that. It's a step up from a gun.”, a voice that sounded oddly familiar to Yu said.

It was a man with short black hair and dark eyes. He had a white dress shirt and a red tie along with a black suit and pants.

“It will take awhile to upload the program to all your phones, Mr.Tohru. I suggest you have one of these as well.”, Nakajima said as he held up a battery powered charger.

“I didn’t think about that. That would definitely be good to have though, you don’t have to call me mister, kid. You can just call me Adachi.”, the man, Adachi replied.

Cerberus sniffed Adachi warily. The man sweat dropped as the demon walked around the room. It seemed protective of its master.

“It’s amazing you were able to program something like that. It would have been nice if you warned us though.”, Adachi said.

“You wouldn’t have believed me if I told you. You probably would have thought it was a prank call.”, Nakajima replied.

“That’s fair.”, Adachi replied.

With Flynn…

His friends and family watched over his sleeping form. He seemed to have passed out again as Dojima brought him to the station. Flynn had recalled his demon before passing out. The nurse him and his friends saved, Sayoko attended to him.

“Is big bro going to be okay?”, Nanako asked, the nurse.

“He’ll be fine. He’s just over exerted himself a bit. How about you kids get something to eat from the rations.”, Sayoko replied, with a smile.

“No way we’ve gotta.”, Kanji said, before Sahori put a hand on his shoulder and looked over to Nanako.

He saw how worried the poor girl looked for her brother. It was best they tried to take his condition off her mind.

“She’s right. Your probably starving let’s get you something to eat, Nanako.”, Sahori said as she grabbed the little girl’s hand who nodded.

“Alright…”, Kanji grumbled.

Sahori, Kanji, and Isamu led Nanako out of the room. Dojima then walked up to Sayoko after they left.

“How is he really doing?”, Dojima asked.

“He has severe swelling in his neck. The cause is still unknown unfortunately I don’t have the tools to properly diagnose him. It could simply be inflamed glands or…a tumor. His temperature was very high, and his friends told me his heart monitor went crazy while I was getting a doctor. It doesn’t help that he insisted on fighting the demons with his friends. He should have been resting.”, Sayoko explained as Dojima rubbed his head.

“Please if there’s any god tell me it isn’t the latter…”, Dojima thought as he looked over his son.

He had already lost his wife and Yu he didn’t want to lose his son. He remembered she had gotten into a serious funk after his wife’s death, Flynn had snapped him out of it and reminded him he had to look after them. Without him he’d probably be worse off and Nanako wouldn’t have anyone at home.

“Come on…pull through son. Don’t you remember the other day when you were talking about going to college? You weren’t sure if you wanted to go because you didn’t want to leave me and Nanako alone.”, Dojima said to the sleeping Flynn.

He held Flynn’s hand tightly as he shook. Sayoko looked at the father sympathetically. She had seen the scene way too often in her profession.

Later Nakajima came in and Dojima looked up to him. The teen held a laptop in his hands.

“It’s you. Why are you here?”, Dojima questioned.

“I was curious about Flynn’s condition. I heard it happened suddenly and I was wondering if a demon was responsible. If it is the cause I might be able to find out.”, Nakajima said, making Dojima’s eyes widen.

“You can?!”, Dojima questioned, grabbing his shoulders.

“I don’t know for sure, but I can try.”, Nakajima replied.

“Thank you, Nakajima.”, Dojima said and the teen nodded.

He sat down in the room typing away at his computer. Cerberus walked through the doorway making Dojima nervous. The demon walked over to Flynn sniffing him.

“Don’t worry yourself he’s mine.”, Nakajima replied.

“Alright…”, Dojima said, looking over to Nakajima as he typed away.

“The program can analyze not just demons, but anyone who has the program. This is Flynn's status on the Demon Summoning Program.”, Nakajima said, Dojima and Sayoko looked on the screen.

“What are these skills? It’s like one of those video games you kids play.”, Dojima questioned.

“When you gain the Demon Summoning Program you can fight on the level of demons and learn skills like demons. Bufu is basically ice magic, Dia can heal minor injuries, Needle Shot allows you to shoot projectiles like bullets, and Gram Slice is like a powered up slash with a weapon. Enduring Soul is like a miracle second wind you see in media. When he’s pushed to his limit it makes him suddenly regain his strength. Almighty Pleroma powers up almighty magic, but he doesn’t currently have any.”, Nakajima explained.

“That Enduring Soul skill must be how he was able to fight in his condition.”, Sayoko surmised.

“So, the weird skills aside do you see anything that could explain the bump?”, Dojima asked.

“That’s the odd thing. Looking at his status has only made me more confused. It says here that ailments don’t affect him. So, the cause must be something else. There’s something else weird: there's an error message over his race. I don’t know what’s causing it.”, Nakajima replied.

“You mean he can’t get sick? Well…that actually makes some sense. For his whole life I have never seen him get sick. But, if he isn’t sick then what’s going on?”, Dojima questioned.

When Dojima thought about it he thinks he’s seen the second wind too. Flynn has become completely exhausted before and miraculously got back up.

“Hey, Master I smell a demon.”, Cerberus said as it stared at the back of Flynn’s neck.

“What do you mean? Wait…”, Nakajima replied, before looking at where the demon was gesturing.

Nakajima started typing furiously again, confusing the adults.

“What is it talking about?!”, Dojima questioned.

Nakajima’s eyes widened in genuine surprise at what he found.

“Magatama…?”, Nakajima muttered, sounding unfamiliar with the demon.

The adults looked at the screen again seeing the analysis.

Assimilation-This parasitic demon is capable of attaching itself to another being giving its power. In exchange this demon feeds off its host’s body.

The adults gasped in shock at the information.

“I can feel demonic energy coming from that bump. It’s flowing into the boy.”, Cerberus said.

“I have never seen this before…a demon attaching itself to a human. This demon must be the cause of Flynn’s condition. His body must be having an adverse reaction to the parasite.”, Nakajima said, looking surprised.

“That’s thing’s a parasite?! How did it get attached to my son?!”, Dojima questioned, panicking.

“I don’t know. It seems like it has passed off some of its skills to Flynn.”, Nakajima replied, genuinely puzzled.

“That definitely explains what’s happening to him. But, how do we deal with a demonic parasite?”, Sayoko questioned.

“I have seen something like this before.”, Cerberus spoke up, grabbing their attention.

“Where?!”, Dojima questioned, desperately.

“You have?”, Nakajima questioned.

“Demi-Fiend.”, Cerberus replied.

“Who?”, Nakajima questioned.

“One of Lucifer’s generals. He was a former human who became a demon through a Magatama Lucifer gave him just like this one.”, Cerberus explained.

“He became a demon?! Are you telling me my son is going to become a demon?”, Dojima questioned.

Nakajima looked down at his computer at the mention of Lucifer.

“He must be involved then…”, Nakajima muttered.

“He’s that person he’s interested in then?”, Nakajima thought.

“Who’s this Lucifer?! Can he undo this?”, Dojima questioned.

“He’s a very powerful demon, he’s their leader. Even more powerful than me and Cerberus.”, Nakajima explained.

“I don’t care! I’ll force him to fix Flynn! I won’t let him become a demon!”, Dojima replied.

They noticed Flynn thrashing around again like earlier. He winced in pain as he struggled, sweating buckets. Veins started becoming visible on his skin and his pain winces became a low growl.

“Flynn!”, Dojima called out running over to the side of his bed.

Cerberus backed away from Flynn with a low growl. Red energy emanated ominously from the unconscious teen. His heart started beating much faster again. Sayoko made her way over to him.

“Stawp…plws…”, Flynn muttered, incoherently.

“Stop, please. Is that what he’s saying? What are you doing to my son you demon?”, Dojima questioned as he glared at the bump.

“You should get back!”, Nakajima warned.

The energy intensified, black and red lightning crackled around Flynn. Dojima winced as the red lightning burned his hand. Sayoko moved over after getting something to treat the burn to Dojima as he backed up.

“Flynn…!”, Dojima said, pained and Sayoko kept him down.

He could see fresh tears trailing from the teens cheeks. Flynn grabbed at his neck.

“It…hurts…”, Flynn muttered.

The intense pain made Flynn’s eyes crack open. He looked over to the others. Dojima looked relieved as the energy and lightning disappeared.

“Dad…are you…alright?”, Flynn questioned, in a pained tone.

“I’m fine. I’m more worried about you.”, Dojima said, before he walked back over to Flynn.

“I’m sorry for making you worry…”, Flynn apologized, in a quiet tone it was clear it was hard for him to talk.

“It’s alright, son.”, Dojima replied, ruffling Flynn’s hair which had already become messy from all the sweat and rolling around.

“Is Nanako…and…the others…okay?”, Flynn asked.

“They’re just fine. They’re eating right now.”, Dojima said, making Flynn smile.

“I’m so…relieved…when…everything started…I got so worried…”, Flynn replied.

“You don’t have to force yourself to talk. Just lay down and relax.”, Dojima replied.

With the others…

They sat on the ground eating food the police had taken from the vending machines. The station was extremely crowded with families huddling together.

“Man this sucks…this food isn’t going to last.”, Isamu said.

“Well what are we going to do? Go out looking for more or eat the demons? On second thought no they probably taste gross.”, Kanji replied.

“Is big bro really sick? The nurse said he’s fine, but he doesn’t look fine.”, Nanako said, drawing their attention.

“That’s why we have Sayoko here. She can fix up anyone who gets sick.”, Sahori replied.

“Really, so she can make big bro better? That’s a relief.”, Nanako replied.

“Wait…what about Junes?!”, they heard a familiar voice say turning to see Yosuke.

“Are you seriously thinking about that stupid store right now?”, Kanji questioned.

“No, that’s not what I mean. I overheard what you guys were saying. Junes has lots of food and other stuff. If we can make it to Junes we can get more supplies!”, Yosuke said, and their eyes widened in realization.

“Holy crap, Yosuke your a genius!”, one of the people Yu imagined the girl with a green sweater said.

“You're right, that’s a great idea. Now that we got the Program, me and the other police can go to Junes.”, Adachi said as he walked in with Nakajima.

“That’s the best place to reclaim from the demons. Getting more food and supplies should be our first priority.”, Nakajima said.

“Hey, computer dude give me the Program so I can fight like Flynn!”, Kanji said.

“I can’t just give it out willy nilly. I have to make sure it won’t be misused.”, Nakajima replied.

“Oh come on! Help a guy out here! Me and my friends brought a nurse here.”, Kanji replied.

“Don’t worry, let the authorities handle this.”, one of the police said.

“It’s our job to protect you kids.”, another one said.

“We should scout it out first to survey the area.”, Nakajima suggested.

“Alright, I’ll ask Dojima if we can take a small team. You can help them get familiar with the Program.”, Adachi replied and Nakajima nodded.

Adachi waved as he left the group.

“This sucks. I guess all we can do is wait.”, Yosuke said as he sat back down.

Kanji clutched his fists frowning deeply. He wanted to fight.

“This is dumb…you guys mind if I look around for my folks?”, Kanji asked.

“Your fine we can take care of the tot.”, Isamu replied, waving Kanji away.

Adachi entered Flynn’s room seeing Dojima glued to Flynn’s side. He had gone back to sleep after what happened earlier. Dojima looked over to Adachi by the doorway.

“What is it?”, Dojima asked.

“Umm…well some kid had a good idea. Basically we were going to have a small team scout out Junes. Since it has basically everything there we thought we could get a lot of supplies there.”, Adachi explained.

“I see that makes sense. You can take five or so guys to investigate.”, Dojima replied.

“Alright sir.”, Adachi said, nodding.

Soon after the small squad was sent out after some training with the program. The civilians saw the team off. The team waved back before leaving.

“We’ll be back soon!”, one of the policeman said.

Not long after, some people arrived back at the station.

“Wow, that was fast.”, the girl with Yosuke said.

However, the ones who came through the door weren’t who they expected. Through the door came a young man with curly brown hair and golden brown eyes. He wore the Yasogami high uniform and a yellow scarf around his neck. He held a sword in his hand stained with blood. With him was a demon in red armor with green eyes. It had a red shield with a black symbol resembling a squid. It had a long spear and light purple wings.

The two jumped seeing the demon. The girl got into a kung fu stance and Yosuke hid behind the girl.

“Hoy, there.”, the man greeted, before looking confused at their reaction.

“Jonathan, there’s a demon with you!”, Yosuke said.

“I am no demon. I am the angel, Power.”, the demon with red armor, Power said.

“This angel guided me and the others here.”, Jonathan said as he walked in.

Behind him were some other citizens who stuck closely behind the teen. He moved over as the people piled into the station.

“Thank you, kind angel.”, an elderly man said, before walking in.

“I am simply doing what the Lord wills.”, Power replied.

“Do you have that weird Program thingy, Jonathan?”, the girl questioned.

“Program? Oh no as I said the angel simply appeared and guided us here, Chie.”, Jonathan replied.

“Oh, I see.”, the girl, Chie replied.

“Yeah, we really owe this guy.”, a blond teen with brown eyes wearing a sucker hat said.

He wore a yellow shirt and some jeans. He had freckles under his eyes.

“Oh, Dazai! Your alright!”, Yosuke said as the two fist bumped, before hugging.

“You bet. I was super scared then that angel swooped in and killed the demons. Senpai was super cool too, he was actually fighting them.”, Dazai replied.

Jonathan rubbed the back of his head bashfully.

“I’m just glad everyone is safe. Have you guys seen Flynn by any chance?”, Jonathan replied.

“Apparently he’s sick or something. They have him quarantined in a separate room.”, Yosuke replied.

“Hopefully, he’s alright.”, Chie added.

“I see…I should go see him.”, Jonathan replied.

They went to where everyone else was. With those saved the station was even more packed. The others were a bit nervous seeing the angel.

“Be not afraid, I am one of God’s angels.”, Power assured the citizens.

“Yeah, he saved us.”, Dazai said.

“An angel?”, Nakajima questioned as he looked at the angel who nodded.

“I am here on behalf of the Lord. He wants me to protect the people here in Inaba.”, Power replied.

“Are you talking about God?”, Adachi questioned.

“Indeed.”, Power replied.

“Woah…this is crazy.”, Adachi replied.

“Tohru, do you know where Flynn’s room is?”, Jonathan asked.

“Oh…he’s right this way.”, Adachi replied, pointing.

Jonathan then made his way over to the room in question. It was guarded by two policemen making the teen raise an eyebrow.

“Only those authorized are allowed past.”, one of them said.

“I’m Flynn’s fellow.”, Jonathan replied.

“Even still we can’t let you past.”, the policeman replied.

“Please, I am very worried about him.”, Jonathan replied, oddly they froze for a moment before letting Jonathan past.

He walked through the door seeing Flynn in bed. Sayoko was tending to him and Dojima was glued to his side.

“What in the-? They weren’t supposed to let anyone past.”, Dojima said, about to scold them.

“I’m sorry, Dojima. I simply wanted to see, Flynn.”, Jonathan replied.

“I see…you're one of my son’s friends.”, Dojima replied and Jonathan nodded.

Sayoko looked over to Dojima with an uncertain look as Jonathan sat down narrowing his eyes and looking Flynn over. His cheeks were flushed red and he was drenched in sweat. His body hadn’t been reacting well to the Magatama at all.

“He really seems quite unwell…how did he get like this?”, Jonathan murmured with veiled anger, frowning.

Sayoko sweated nervously as she looked away.

“We don’t know. He suddenly became sick.”, she lied.

“Flynn doesn’t get sick.”, Jonathan replied, and Sayoko flinched.

“Well…I didn’t think so either and here he is.”, Dojima replied, with more composure.

Jonathan kept his gaze on Flynn. They had a feeling Jonathan wasn’t convinced as he put his hand over Flynn’s head.

“It seems so…”, Jonathan replied.

“Don’t get too close! The last thing we want is for it to spread.”, Dojima replied.

They looked at each other knowing they couldn’t let Jonathan stay long or he would see. Dojima didn’t want anyone to know Flynn’s true condition till he thought up a solution to prevent his demonic transformation. Jonathan’s gaze lowered to behind Flynn’s neck making them more nervous.

“That thing is…”, Jonathan thought.

“I’m flattered you're worried about my son, but you’ve got to go.”, Dojima said.

“Sorry for intruding. I hope Flynn recovers.”, Jonathan said, before getting up and going to the door.

“Jonnnathan…”, Flynn muttered quietly in his sleep.

“That’s right it’s me, Flynn. Make sure to get well soon.”, Jonathan replied, before leaving.

As Jonathan left the two police looked at each other. He looked over his shoulder at the door to Flynn’s room, before looking back.

“Why did we let him through again?”, one of them asked and the other shrugged.

For a brief moment strange black markings appeared on Flynn’s body before disappearing.

In Flynn’s dreams

“What are you doing? Get up and keep fighting.”, a voice that sounded familiar to him said.

The figure was covered in shadow. All he could make out was long hair and a school uniform.

“You will change.”, the figure said, mysteriously.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if you're out there or if you'll read this but I really, really want to apologize for everything that happened. I really didn't want to hurt you and I know there wasn't much we could do. Fighting for the throne of god just meant sacrificing everything. I'm just, really sorry for everything that happened. That I let Tao die, that I let Sahori die, that I wasn't able to do more. Dazai I should've been there at the summit, Yuzuru I should've talked more with you. I wish I could have done more, I'm so sorry.

Types of Yanderes : Bungou Stray Dogs

characters : osamu dazai, edowaga ranpo, atsushi nakajima, doppo kunikida, kenji miyazawa, jun’ ichiro tanizaki, kyōka izumi, yosano akiko, naomi tanizaki.

warnings : yandere behavior, toxic mindsets, manipulation, domestic abuse, imprisonment, self-harm, non healthy relationships. i do not condone any of these behaviors.

other notes : this is the ADA version! if i get inspired, i’ll probably do a port mafia version. a lot of these characters were hard to write for.

Osamu Dazai :

haijo-gata (排除型) - removal type

you are quite literally the reason he lives. he believes you’re too pure and naive for this washed out cruel world. you showed him kindness even after finding out his deepest flaws. he can’t let you be with anyone else, you’re his, his only. he knows he can’t kill your friends or your family but he can sure as hell threaten and blackmail them. he’s a selfish man, only wanting you to show him your feelings and your sweetness. he pulls you out of any communication with anyone and everyone. why are you talking to other people when he’s there? he’s the only one meant to be there for you. you’re his beloved, he’s not going to lose another person he genuinely cares about.

Edogawa Ranpo :

sutookaa-gata (すとーかーがた) - stalker type

he’s not the world’s greatest detective for no reason. he smiles as he finds out where you are with his super deduction. you can’t hide anything from him, he’ll find out everything. you pique his interest to the max and he wants to know every single little thing about you. when you aren’t around him, he can’t help but find out where you are. he’ll casually bring up your previous whereabouts the next time you guys meet. you’re confused, remembering that you never told him but he simply tells you that he used his “ability.” he’s not scared of telling you of his deduction since both you and him know that you’ll never be able to get away.

Atsushi Nakajima :

jishou-gata (自傷型) - self-harm type

coming from a rough and complicated childhood meant that he wasn’t shown love or compassion. when he met you, he saw how you pampered him and how you treated him with so much love. as much as he hates it, he loves how you patch him up and coo at him when he gets hurt. when he’s on missions, he just coincidentally cuts himself every time. he can’t help but blush at your worried face and soft words. if it means that you’ll take care of him, a few bruises and cuts don’t bother him. he just craves your soft touch and treatment. after a while, you always try your best to be with him so he won’t get hurt as much. he truly is in love with you and your protective nature.

Doppo Kunikida :

choukyou-gata (調教型) - training type

he needs you to meet all of his 58 criteria. he wants you to live by his standards, shaping you into the perfect darling. he has authority over you and he’s not afraid to use it. despite this, he’s a bit confused on why he’s like this, on why he wants you to be his interpretation of perfection rather than let you be your own person. he treats you more like a doll or a dog rather than his significant other. don’t ever bring it up though, unless you want a punishment for breaking his criteria. he loves you, just not how defiant you are against him. he thinks of marrying you, further preparing you for marriage and your life together.

Kenji Miyazawa ( platonic ) :

mugai-gata (無害型) - harmless type

he’s so kind to you, always treating you like royalty. i don’t think he would even realize he had some possessive thoughts over you. even if he does realize, he wouldn’t hurt you. you’re too important for him to lay a finger on you. he just wants you to be happy alongside him. forcing you into things would never be his forte. he watches over you, making sure nothing bad happens. nothing that you do can make him snap, he’s always there for you. he’s probably the safest yandere on this list, not wanting to cause you any harm, physically or emotionally. even in hard circumstances, he would never take it out on you. you’re too special.

Jun’ ichiro Tanizaki :

mousou-gata (妄想型) - delusion type

his illusions of you fill him up with so much joy. even if you’re not his partner, he’s so delusional with his visions, craving you even further. whenever you’re not around him, he’ll imagine you with him so he can pass the time. despite him trying to hide his delusion, he’ll slip up when he mentions things you do for him in his illusions that you actually haven’t done. he’ll try to play it off but doesn’t do a very good job at it. even then, he won’t stop with his light snow. he’s just so obsessed with you and can’t help but always imagine you alongside him. if his love for you overflows, he’ll straight up tell you about his fantasies, wanting you to accept him.

Kyōka Izumi ( platonic ) :

hogo-gata (保護型) - protective type

after seeing her parents die in front of her, she can’t risk your safety. she cares deeply about you and will protect you at any cost. despite this, she won’t use demon snow to protect you in fear that demon snow will kill you like she killed her mom. probably the second safest yandere since she doesn’t want to hurt you. you’re her best friend, the most precious person in her life. if anything happens to you, she wouldn’t let you be near her, blaming herself for not being able to protect you. she’ll maybe even go as far as teaching you self-defense. she won’t see another person she cares about die in front of her eyes.

Yosano Akiko :

DV-gata (DV型) - domestic violence type

your relationship with her is a whole rollercoaster. she’ll randomly cut you with a scalpel only for her to heal you with her ability. she has fun with you by breaking you and fixing you up again. if you cry to her, she’ll dismiss it, firing back that she always patches you up. you’re normally a victim of her abuse. like any other person, she gets stressed out and decides to take it out on you. even if she’s mad afterward, she’ll patch you up. yosano doesn’t want you to have an infection or any bruises. you wouldn’t be able to tell anyone due to her ability. but even then, she cares about you, just in her own twisted way.

Naomi Tanizaki :

shuuchaku-gata (執着型) - obsession type

Released in 2021, ATLUS’s renowned RPG Shin Megami Tensei V has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide.

This highly acclaimed title has evolved in every aspect, including the system and scenario, and will be available on multiple modern platforms!

At the beginning of the story, the player is presented between two routes. The story told in Shin Megami Tensei V, the Canon of Creation, and a brand-new route, Canon of Vengeance, a dramatic tale of revenge by the fallen.

The Canon of Vengeance follows the scenario of Shin Megami Tensei V, but changes drastically from the latter half of the game. The outcome will be completely different. Enjoy the two divergent stories to your heart’s content.

The battle system, demon fusion, and field exploration have also evolved in depth with the addition of new elements. We are excited to deliver a full-fledged RPG that can be enjoyed by those who have already played Shin Megami Tensei V, as well as those who are playing this series for the first time.

Thou shalt be God—

When a grisly murder scene in modern-day Tokyo blocks our protagonist’s walk home, an unplanned detour leaves him buried and unconscious. He awakens in a new Tokyo, a wasteland ravaged by apocalypse now called Da’at… but before bloodthirsty demons can claim his life, a savior emerges, and the two of them unite to become a mighty being, neither human nor demon: a Nahobino.

Revenge Awaits

Demons attack humans and seek to create a world of chaos. Bethel, an organization that seeks to protect God’s order. Caught up in the conflict between the two, while exploring Da’at, the protagonist meets and starts traveling with Yoko Hiromine. Using magic, Yoko and the main character stand together on the front line.

The Qadistu, four female Demons stand in their way. “Found it, the Key of Resurrection……” A member of the Qadistu, Lilith, calls protagonist the Key of Resurrection, and herself The Oppressed. What is their purpose? A tale of revenge by the oppressed begins.

■ Characters

Tao Isonogami (voiced by Jeanine Tirado in English, Hayami Saori in Japanese)

“You were ready to do whatever it took to protect someone you care about. I know exactly how that feels.”

Tao is a classmate of the protagonist and a member of the high school lacrosse club. Friendly and caring.

She has possessed a strong spiritual sense since when she was young and has been assisting Bethel Japan as their “saint.” She supports the protagonist once he joins Bethel.

In combat, Bethel Japan as their “saint”, she specializes in healing and support skills.

Yuzuru Atsuta (voiced by Mark Whitten in English, Kaito Ishikawa in Japanese)

“Innocent people get born into pain they can’t escape and don’t deserve. What do you call that but proof that our world’s fundamentally broken?”

Yuzuru is a friend of the protagonist.

Holding a strong sense of justice, he joins Bethel as a temporary unit to fight demons and protect his sister Miyazu.

He gains more power after visiting Da’at with the protagonist, reaffirming his commitment to fight for peace in Tokyo.

In battles, he wields the Demon Summoning Program to summon his loyal demon partner Hayataro as his demon partner.

Ichiro Dazai (voiced by Stuart Allan in English, Kishou Taniyama in Japanese)

“That angel taught me something truly important: you can’t rely on others to carry out your justice.”

Ichiro is a classmate of the protagonist. He has a cheerful personality but can often be rather tactless.

His grades are poor and often seen as “useless” at school.

As he livestreams himself as a hobby, he is dragged to Da’at after a tunnel collapse incident. Bethel recruits him to fight demons, to which he agrees as he believes that it’s for a noble cause. In battles, he uses unique demons such as Aitvaras and Mokoi as his demon partners.

Miyazu Atsuta (voiced by Ashlyn Madden in English, Ryou Hirohashi in Japanese)

“I refuse to hurt Tao anymore!”

Yuzuru’s younger sister and only relative. Shy and physically weak, she is a frequent visitor to the school nurse’s office.

She respects her brother and is worried about his involvement in Bethel.

Sahori Itsukishima (voiced by Erica Lindbeck in English, Lynn in Japanese)

“Demons are just like people too. There are good types and bad…”

Tao’s best friend and a former member of the lacrosse club.

A victim of bullying by her teammates, leaving her a vulnerable target for the demon Lahmu.

■ Demons

Naahmah (voiced by Kari Wahlgren in English, Shizuka Ito in Japanese)

“Now wail and lament! Your anguish shall become the Magatsuhi that I seek!”

One of the four female demons of the Qadistu, also known as the “Mother of Demons”. She is the most sensual and seductive of the four Qadistu, and her beauty is said to charm not only humans, but even Angels and Demons.

Eisheth Zenunim (voiced by Allegra Clark in English, Kimiko Saitou in Japanese)

“Now, tell me… what part of yourselves do you hate the most?”

One of the demons of the Qadistu, who seduces humans and leads them to their demise. In Jewish mythology, she is said to eat the souls of the fallen. Under the guise of salvation, she attacks humans and steals their souls.

Agrat bat Mahlat (voiced by Cherami Leigh in English, Reina Ueda in Japanese)

“So I shall dispense a punishment. May your existence be lost to darkness.”

A member of the Qadistu, she is also the “Queen of Demons.” Also known as “the demon who dances on the roof” and is said to wander through the air with her chariot and her train of messengers of destruction.

Glasya-Labolas

One of the 72 demons of King Solomon’s “Ars Goetia.” His form is that of a dog with griffin-wings. Bloodshed and murder, and can predict the future and make people invisible.

■ Gameplay

Press Turn Battle

The battles in this title features a command-based Press Turn Battle.

The Press Turn System rewards the player for exploiting the weaknesses of enemies. If you successfully hit an enemy with the skill type they are weak to, your party will gain an extra turn. The simple, yet tactically challenging battle system is still in place.

This title also offers various new skills and elements that expand the strategic nature of battles.

Striking an enemy’s weak point increases the number of Press Turn icons in the upper right corner of the screen, allowing additional actions! If you keep targeting the weak points well, you can take up to 8 actions, for an unscathed victory.

A number of exclusive skills available only to certain demons have also been added!

■ Systems

Magatsuhi Skill

As the battle progresses, your actions will fill the Magatsuhi gauge. Once the Magatsuhi gauge is capped, you can use the special technique Magatsuhi skill.

Magatsuhi Skills have a variety of effects, including damaging enemies and support and healing skills. This title features more than 50 Magatsuhi skills, including more than 20 newly added to the game, such as ones only usable with certain demons.

Each skill has powerful abilities, so keep an eye out for opportunities to activate them in battle.

In addition to the Magatsuhi skills previously introduced in Shin Megami Tensei V, there are now skills that can be activated when there is a strong mythological relationship between two demons or when there are demons with the same alignment in the party!

Unique Skills

In this title, every demon has their own special passive skill, called Unique Skills.

Unique Skills may include those that increase the power of attack skills, provide powerful effects when a particular demon is present, or ones that are useful for demon conversation.

The combination of the demons allows the player to experience more tactical battles.

—Blessed Melody When active, your team’s power is enhanced when all allies exploit the target’s weakness with Light Skills.

—Four Heavenly Kings When summoned with a demon who has the Unique Skill “Four Heavenly Kings” as active, it will enhance its own abilities.

—Demonic Mediator When active and if a demon negotiation goes sour, your partner demon will intervene to mediate the conversation.

Demon Conversation

When attacked by a demon, you may be able to talk with them and potentially recruit them as an ally.

Each demon has a different personality and preference. In this title, more variations in the conversation are added, deepening the interaction.

Demons vary in temper and personality. If you can negotiate with them skillfully, they will become a supportive companion.

Certain negotiations may be interrupted by an ally demon in your party, triggering a unique interaction. Enjoy the special conversation between the related demons! You can enjoy conversations related to the relationship between the demons.

Sometimes, a demon may surprise you with a pop quiz! Show off your knowledge to impress them!

Guest Characters

As the story progresses, human guest characters may join the party and participate in battles. They can fight and use items in the same manner as demon allies. Use your companions and your demons to your advantage in battle.

Consecutive Encounters

After defeating an enemy demon, a new demon may appear and continue the battle. Although it will be a series of battles, winning may generate bonuses in Macca, EXP, and items earned.

The more demons that discover the protagonist, the more likely it is that a serial encounter will occur. It is also a good idea to aim for a large bonus by engaging in combat with enemies that are densely packed together.
