Maybe you’ve done this before (so feel free to ignore this - actually feel free to ignore it either way if you don’t feel like doing it 😅) , but if you had to pick the wardrobe for Buck, Eddie, and Chris for the buddie canon confirmed episode what would you pick for each of them? Your costume metas are so fun so I think your answer to this would be too. 🖤

this is such a fun ask and I've been pondering on it for a few days!!! What kind of outfit we'll see them in really depends on the location of where we get canon confirmation, as well as when it happens!!
If it happens this season, then I'm kind on hoping we'll get some colour paralleling of the lasagne scene from 6x01 - with yellow and blue being the colours worn - especially as I've been banging on about the use of yellow and blue in queer storytelling for a little while (its in so many other queer stories, especially recently) who is wearing the yellow and who is wearing the blue depends very much on who makes the first move - but I'm kind of leaning towards Buck in yellow and Eddie in blue, because I really feel the blue on Buck has bee na deliberate choice this season and is very much tied into his own healing arc, so I think once he gets to the point of being ready, we'll see him change colours in some way as the blue will have done its narrative job for him! I would quite like to see Buck in either a knit polo of some sort - as he's been wearing a lot of this season, or possibly something simialr to the grey jumper form the kitchen scene. I don't want to see him in a hoodie though - those are for when he's seeking comfort and thats not what he'd be doing in a nbuddie canon scene!
I thinkEddie in blue would be a great choice for him and we've seen it start to creep more into his wardrobe since 5x14 and in brighter tones as well. I also think seeing him in Blue would time in to a couple of interesting touchstones for his own journey - the conversation in Christophers room in 5x17 and the suit he wore to Hen and Karens vow renewal and then in season 6 we've had him in blue sleeping on the couch in 6x09 (as well as a couple of other instances) so I'd really love to see him in blue if for no other reason thang getting to see the couch metaphor play out to its full and natural conclusion!!! I either want Eddie in a traditional henley or in an open shirt and tee combo - which we've seen him wearing more often since mid 5b.
If Chris is involved in Buddie going canon in any way, I'd actually kind of like to see him in grey of some sort - possibly with a nod to whatever colours Buck and Eddie are wearing - and if they happen to be stripes, then so much the better! the reason I want to see him in grey is because its a neutral colour and because as much as Christopher is a central part in them becoming a family unit, I kind of want the buck and Eddie outfits to do all the talking - Buddie should be about buddie and not about buddifer - in much the same way that Chris was there on the fridge in the new kitchen scene - present but not a part of the scene directly, I feel a bit like that should also be the case for them getting together canonically - because they should and will be together because its what they both want for each other and themselves, and not because of Christopher (does that make sense?!!) I'd really love to see Buck wearing maroon at the moment they tell Chris they're together though - really solidifying the maroon and fatherhood aspect and coming full circle with when we've seen Buck in maroon. I'd like to see Eddie in either cream or blue for this as well -
Another reason for wanting blue and yellow is that I'd love the symmetry of their turnouts being blue and yellow and the whole connection to their jobs - it all just ties in so well together and would make me very happy!!!
Of course they could choose to parallel Athena and Bobbys first date and go with brown and blue - which I would also not be mad at, but I feel like the yellow would be a bit more interesting and fitting - especially because of all I've already said 😎
This post is either going to haunt me when I'm a million miles off, or I'm going to drag it out and be really annoying and make it everyones problem if I happen to be right!!!

this idea i've seen floated around by a couple people that everyone else is being relentlessly cheerful and never uttered a word of criticism of the show and thinks this season is the best thing ever, just feels like a total fiction they've made up to try and justify being the most negative ninnies in existence.
just own your own negativity people but leave the rest of us out of it.
I've seen that idea too, and it reeks of projection to me. It's like well I hate everything that's going on in the show these days, so obviously everyone else does too.
Um. No.
Season 6 is vastly different than any other 9-1-1 season thus far. It's okay for us all to admit that !! Pretending it's not different is not going to do anyone any good! This season has Tim's hands off completely and one thing about Tim is that, for all his wild inventiveness when it comes to storytelling, he's still a creature of comfort. He knows what he likes in a story, he knows which themes he wants to adopt and return to, and (as it relates to the 9-1-1 shows at least), he's very comfortable playing in certain sandboxes. Kristen is not like that. Kristen is a risk-taker. Do all of her risks work out well? Absolutely not. But are they all terrible? Absolutely not.
I've not been shy about my critiques of this season. Season 6 has confused me from the very first episode onward. The direction of the plotlines wasn't always entirely clear to me, and to be frankly honest, I have no idea how to predict what is coming next for any of the characters. But I'm along for the ride anyway, because I fell in love with this show because of the characters, because of their dynamics with each other. And this year, we've seen so many fascinating, long-desired dynamics that leave me simultaneously longing for more (Eddie/Maddie! More Eddie/Bobby/Athena!) and wanting the old-and-gold dynamics back (*stares longingly out the window for Buck/Eddie to conversate one-on-one about anything).
I won't lie and say that there aren't some disgruntled campers around this fandom because I'm sure there are. Even of the ones who have not publicly - publicly being the key word here! - criticized the show, I know there have been some decisions made that have had people frustrated, annoyed, or just scratching their heads. But the idea that people are "lying" about enjoying the season or pretending to for the sake of... something absolutely no one seems to know or articulate... is just absurd.
Conversely, if it is true that people don't feel "safe" vocalizing their opinion, that lends itself to two even bigger problems: the first being that someone, somewhere, cares more about acceptance than they do about silencing themselves (unhealthy), and the second being that apparently, some of you think there are "leaders" in this fandom who get to dictate what people think and what they like.

Here is a very necessary newsflash that I think people need to hear: this is a fandom. It's not a cult. It's not a religion. We don't get excommunicated for having differences of opinion here. People might unfollow you. Mutuals might unfollow you. That's par for the course when you start criticizing their favorite show. Unfollowing is not a punishment, nor is it persecution. You might have to find a new tribe. This is good. Find them! Converse with like-minded people just like everyone else in this fandom tries to. And yeah, maybe you'll get anon hate. That is what the block button is for. Block them and be on your way and don't give them another thought. But absolutely no one is this fandom should have to silence themselves for the sake of... whatever... (still waiting on an answer for why people think they need to lie about liking the season lol).
I hate to be all "touch grass" about this because the problems I highlighted are genuine problems, but it really, genuinely, truly, emphatically... is not that serious. It's just fandom, baby. Breathe.

I have no words, I mean I have words, but they kind of disintegrate into annoyed yelling. Gonna focus on one thing here right now. Cause I need to rewatch for the Hen/Karen/Denny thing. So . . . Ravi.
Just gonna focus on Ravi and not bring up other guest stars. Cause I'll just annoy people I know. But for the character Ravi - why the heck are we only learning now from an interview that he's been at the academy? Giving answers and fucking telling people your headcanons about the show people are watching, to explain things, is not how you produce a show. I should not surprisingly learn this because someone shared an interview.
We had this character that we liked and wanted to see more of - who looked like he was going to be around for a while just vanish. And there was no mention of him, he was cut from a photograph, as far as the audience is concerned he just doesn't exist anymore and isn't important. But he worked with the core group - Buck mentored him. We saw him interacting in the engine with the main group and being friends with them way more than Lucy (sorry - I tried not to drag Lucy but meh). And yet no one said - oh hey is Ravie working at the academy? Good for him! Remember when he was just our probey? One line, one throw away line - would have been easier than shooting the scene of Lucy explaining why she's gone.
I just - I saw this and the rage I've felt at the beginning of the season came back. Cause damn it, they needed someone to fill in for missing mains in season 5 - they could have locked down Anirush. But no, we'll see them use the excuse that he was busy (good! He was finding work somewhere else with producers that appreciated him) and get a headcanon for him being gone.
They lucked into a character that was already meshing with everyone. I wanted more Hen and Ravi scenes after she hid him from Buck who was chasing Ravie with a saw (and I love the fact that this is a canon thing). And after they had that heart to heart. I wanted more Buck and Ravi! Buck was legitimately some ones mentor. Oh my god yes - show me competent Buck.
But no. Ravi is not mentioned once even though if he's a peer instructor that should be a big deal right? Their friend is training fire fighters! Yet another character is seen and mentioned more and for some reason is in the photo that Ravi was cut from. Even if that's a pay the actor thing that just makes me scratch my head.
'Kristen: Anirush Pisharody has been off doing another show, but we are hoping to see him in the back half of the season.
Ravi is still a firefighter, he just hasn't been at a firehouse and he's been off at the academy being what they call a peer instructor so later in the season, we will see him.'

Longtime 911 fandom lurker here. I love your takes and agree with, like, 99% of them but especially the ones regarding the issues since You Know Who took over as showrunner. Sorry for the loooong message incoming but my head has been spinning over something and am curious what you think!
I'll admit that I lost most of my hope that we'd ever see canon Buddie because of things that You Know Who said in interviews, as well as how Buck and Eddie were so distant in 6A. Well, recent episodes, a few BTS snippets and some interviews have me somewhat hopeful again. And let me tell you, Andrew Meyers, who I always perceived as an original Buddie supporter, writing the finale?? For the first time all season, I now think that *something* could happen.
I've seen many caution that we shouldn't expect to see anything happen with Buddie anytime soon, mainly because there has been no real build-up to "explain" the changing feelings but also because other characters have potentially big stories brewing. And I get that, I do. But then I think about how Bobby and Athena quite literally came out of nowhere and zoomed to marriage rather quickly (and this is not dissing them, I l-o-v-e them, but it's how it happened). Similarly, Maddie and Chim's relationship went through the ringer, but we've missed so much of it (for example, break-up off-screen and then they were back together very quickly without us seeing any counseling etc.) Then, of course, Hen and Karen went SIX seasons without proper backstory.
What I'm trying to say is that 9-1-1 has never really been consistent as far as showing deep, sold relationship development. This isn't to say that they can't write good relationships; they definitely can! And in the case of Buddie, you can view things through the years as metaphors and foreshadowing and hints and so forth. But, I think that certain people expect the show to spoonfeed the audience about Buddie, or do some in depth sexuality exploration storyline, and I'm kind of doubtful. To counter the, "Well, they HAVE to explain to the GA how these STRAIGHT men are no longer STRAIGHT!" I could see them waving it away with a, "The actors have such great chemistry, and just like in real life, sometimes you fall in love with a person you don't expect to." And while I adore many things about the show, when they have to juggle schedules, we know that some (*cough*Buck*cough*) end up getting more airtime then others. I do kind of worry that many fans will be disappointed and complain about getting canon Buddie if it unfolds quickly, even though that's really par for the course.
Of course, I could be totally wrong in thinking that anything is going to happen, hahaha, but what are YOUR thoughts? Is it possible that they kind of roll out Buddie in a...not casual but not super obvious big way that many seem to expect? Knowing that the actors' contracts expire after next season and that the show won't go on forever, I could honestly kind of see them just going with it 🤷🏻♀️

Thanks for coming here and sending this long ask and sharing your thoughts! I think Madney is one of the best buildups they've done on the show and I didn't think it moved TOO fast because right when they started is when Doug came back in the later part of s2 and they took a step back at that point. Of course I've had issues with their story since JLH left on maternity leave and they decided to cut Chim out of the show rather than show things from his POV and being loved and supported by the firefam and he and Buck working things out because they were brothers before Maddie ever came around. Plus, after Boston it has felt like 90% of their stuff happens off screen and I hate that! I want to see the deep and hard conversations! But KR struggles (by her own admission) with arc planning, and coming up with plots, and episode pacing and it REALLY shows in the difference with how Madney used to be to how they are handled now. Yes they have less time with JLH but that just means every second you have her should COUNT and yet instead of having her there for important things like being the one on the call when Chim gets abducted to hit those emotional beats she's just...not.
As for Budde, honestly, I could live with a 3rd party confession this season though I'm a little leery of that for several reasons.
The season break gives them time to backtrack when all the homophobes inevitably come crawling out of the woodwork
I am holding out hope that over the season break the show will choose to bring someone new on or Tim will come back because I don't trust KR to tell their story (or anyone's stories honestly) and i want to see things happen on screen. I have my issues with Tim too, but he always had a really good ebb and flow to the episodes and arcs and things didn't drag out but also weren't started and wrapped up in a single episode never to come up or affect anything ever again. (Honestly I think that issue on LS is more about the show having to cater to RL and working everything around what they have to do for Owen)
A lot of the fun of seeing these relationships on TV is the build up! The pining! And I think Buck and Eddie and their love story deserve that, plus it could easily involve lots of fun stuff from the firefam! We could get one of them letting it slip in front of Chim and him struggling with the secret, and the other telling Hen and them ending up as the spiderman pointing meme when they figure out what the other knows. We could get confirmation of the betting pool the 118 has on Buddie, we could get Ravi being SOOO confused because he thought they had been together before and were separated. Like, there is so much FUN they could have with it along with all the Buddie scenes themselves and I think they deserve the time to explore all that.
As for a sexuality awakening/crises storyline I don't think we will really get one, even though it would be nice to see and easily something that they could work in since we know Eddie is in therapy. I personally could live with it just coming up in a conversation between Eddie and Buck or even someone in the firefam. I would LOVE a scene with Eddie and Hen about it actually but I would also accept Bobby in a father/son talk or even Ramon if they want to show him putting in the work to support his son when it's not as easy as offering parenting advice about Chris. If they wanted to do it more lighthearted I could also see it being a scene with Chim and that kicking off the "Chim has a secret to keep and it's killing him but he's gonna do his best to keep it" thing. If we were actually SUPER lucky we could get the 3rd party confession being with Maddie and Eddie, but the time to do that would have been 6x11 but the show couldn't be bothered because they were too busy wedging the Buckley parents into everything and cutting Eddie out of the episode as much as possible 🙃
I think every relationship OG has had has been a little differently told because each of the couples and stories are different and I like that! Bobby and Athena are adults who know what they want and go after it because they both know time can run out when you least expect it. Bobby especially saying she made him feel like he was finally on solid ground was not just adorable but a great peek into how solid their relationship was from the jump. Maddie was skittish and needed time to be by herself and figure herself out but she also needed to see what it was like to have a best friend and fall in love with them because Doug was NEVER her friend. And honestly after seeing Chim and Tatiana, he needed to spend time just being friends with her too and I love how their story unfolded. Hen and Karen start out already married with a kid so we got to see them navigating current struggles together which has been great, but I love that we got a flashback and got to see the start of their relationship even though it wasn't necessarily NEEDED, it was WANTED and one episode was able to show us so much. So I think Buddie also deserve to have something that fits their relationship and as much as I would LOVE a big dramatic scene, I think after some pining and build up with the firefam getting to have some fun shenanigans, that they will fall into this like they do everything together-easy as breathing.

Thank you I love your blog and your answers. I completely agree with you, I think one of the things that made this episode not liked by many is all the time they gave to the Buckleys, ok the dream but in the real world we should have seen the people we care about, the scenes with may/Athena and may/Bobby were great because we care about them, and seeing the lacking of eddie, we should have seen a scene with him and hen talking about how they felt, instead we got the new couch

In the dream, it made sense that they'd be there because this was a world of what if Daniel had lived.
But in the real world, they should have shown us the effect it had on the people we see in the firehouse or the regular characters that are normally connected to Buck.
Tbh, I feel like maybe we didn't get the bedside vigil or confession, but I think it just pained Eddie to physically be there, see Buck like that. - I'm going to make a full 6x11 Eddie meta once I land in Madrid. But the little that we did see of Eddie was enough for now.
Would it have been nice to see more, absolutely, but what we did get was so loud that a credit really is owed to Ryan's brilliant acting. And it says a lot about Eddie's bond with Buck.
We're all upset at the unnecessary over-attention to the Buckleys in the real world, but what we did get from the regular cast was just as good.
There's this thing my sister laughs and loves that I do, I watch things deluweil style, meaning once I've seen the episode once, I pretty much fast forward the parts that don't interests me, and helps me focus on what's there.
At this point, my mind is like, and were the Buckleys really ever there? 😂
Obviously, yes, but also no, because according to Oliver, they're gone by the next episode, and whatever aftermath left to deal with will be done by the true ppl who love and understand Buck.
Eddie probably more than anyone.
That stupid couch, the man is out of the hospital, and she's focusing on redecorating the place instead of marching him up to bed.
Kind of reminded me when my mom comes to visit. Nothing is ever at the same place by the time she goes home. And somehow she's always cleaning - and I swear I keep my place clean lmao. Also, one of the reasons I prefer to be alone when I'm sick is that I don't have to pretend I'm fine for anyone's benefit.
But we digress, I would love a firehouse chat between Eddie and Hen, like the one they had after Karen nearly died, and Denny started asking about his dad.
I want them talking about Christopher and how he's dealing with Buck almost dying and how's Eddie holding up.
Because after the bomb and the embolism, a different Eddie told Buck in different words, that Buck nearly died, he's got the rest of his life ahead of him, and that his life didn't end because he can't be a firefighter. - what he meant was we're grateful you're not dead, you are loved whether you're a firefighter or not and preceeded to give him Christopher to watch over. (3x02 if I'm not mistaken)
Therapized Eddie, I'm betting, will be more forthcoming this time around. And I am here waiting for it. 👀🙏✨️💜🤗

Sleepover ask - Ok so when everyone was doing that thing that ranked their favorite 911 characters I remember being struck by how low Hen was on your list! Low like under a buckley parent low I think. And no judgement ofc bc to each their own, but I just gotta know how she ended up there in your book
Ohh! Ok so I think it's because of a few reasons. For context, Hen tied with Margaret Buckley and above that Phillip Buckley tied with Abby Clark in my list.
One: I think one portion of this is because it took me a second to figure out how the poll worked. Nine out of ten times if you tag me in a game and I don't do it, it's because I don't understand how to do it. It took a VERY long time doing that polling to realize I was not in fact being timed and I wasn't taking a test 🤣 So I'd be interested to see what I would get if I took my time.
Two: I like how much I dislike the Buckley Parents. For the longest time I couldn't even look at the actors because I would have a full on visceral emotional reaction to seeing them (sorry to the Hallmark movie that had Buck's dad in it that I had to turn off). They are literally the worst and super complicated and nuanced in the way that they aren't just cardboard flat characters meant to be villains. So me disliking the Buckley Parents as much as I do, doesn't mean that I'm indifferent to them which is how I feel towards a lot of the characters much further down the list. So I think it's less a comment on how low on the list Hen is when in reality it's more how high the Buckley Parents are.
Three: This is in no way a slight against Aisha because I think she plays Hen beautifully but I find that I tend to like Fanon Hen more than Canon Hen. Aisha is an absolute POWER HOUSE and there are scenes I absolutely LOVE.
But I tend to look at the show in two lens: as a viewer and then a writer.
As a viewer: I'm a little turned off by her in a very biased way because I've worked with people with a similar temperament to Hen and I gotta be honest, they were not super great to work with. Particularly in the 'i'm in a bad mood over something that has nothing to do with you but don't talk to me or i'm going to bite your head off' vibe which is something she's done a couple of times with Chimney, Buck, and Eddie. And that's a totally valid character choice to make, it's just not something I enjoy watching personally.
But as a writer? I find that I get frustrated a lot with some of Hen's storylines particularly in her instances of impulsivity. All of the characters have been in a situation where they've been impulsive but we've seen the consequences and follow up those actions.
Buck filing the lawsuit -- Buck having to work for forgiveness from the team and Bobby.
Eddie street fighting -- Eddie having to answer for his actions with Bobby and go to counseling.
Bobby skating around the protocol to get Hen out of the vault -- Bobby's past being revealed and being suspended.
Chimney lying in his relationship with Tatiana -- Their relationship failing.
Athena going rogue to get Emmett's killer -- Athena getting suspended.
Maddie getting obsessed with a victim -- Maddie getting put on leave and forced to see a counselor.
We just get to see the follow through of this moments of impulsivity or recklessness but we don't really get that with Hen. It feels like it's more like an excuse to make Hen seem badass but the catch for that is that her victories feel a little hollow then. The sticking her hand in an open chest wound situation is one example where it was such a HUGE break in protocol (Chimney AND the nurse both had big reactions to it) but then Hen sort of got off easy. I remember watching that and thinking about the line Buck says about Eddie free climbing the roof where he's like "I feel like if I had done that you would've yelled at me." Anyone else in that situation and I think we would've gotten the consequences of that action. But with Hen it just sorta always seems like it ends on a "super lucky nothing bad happened here MOVING ON" scenario. And this isn't just with Hen (ie part of the reason why I wish we had gotten a little more tension with Chimney's return so that the attack on Jonah felt a little more satisfying) but it happens with her the most frequently.
Argument can be made for Bobby too but it happens less so.
The only time we got to see something similar was when Hen was distracted by her problems with Karen's fertility and the girl died. But even that wasn't really a consequence to Hen's actions and more bad timing. And that storyline hurt BUT it's one of the strongest Hen arcs we've seen. It's something that she still struggles with and continues to battle and I'm getting chills just writing about Aisha's performance when she breaks down in Athena's arms.
So my frustration comes from the fact that we know it can be done, and done really well, it's just not done very often which feels like cheating her character out of a complete arc.
All this is to say I still love Hen a lot and there are a BUNCH of scenes of hers that I think really just dig right into the core of the show. I just have my frustrations.

That is sad to hear, but at the same time is a bit funny to see these type of posts, because I surely don't get where people take the idea they're divorcing (lol I mean latest episode we literally had an enforcement of how Bobby looks for Athena, and vice-versa). Their relationship is strongest as ever.
The thing about the rings I've seen some commenting is mostly about how Peter and Angela do not wear Bobby and Athena's rings in scenes where Bathena marriage isn't important at all. In May Day promo pics for example Peter was not wearing Bobby's ring at all. And I believe I've already gave my cents over the story about them retiring (which I don't believe it will happen anytime soon).
Usually this is mostly speculation of the fandom overreacting, I wouldn't worry about those.
I hope this easy the the worry you've feeling and can make you focus on your studies better.

So I rewatched 3x18 bc it is absolutely a batshit insane episode, and I've noticed the bathena/buddie parallels are making the rounds again and I'm exploding over something, so naturally I'm taking you down with me:
This is the dialogue bw Athena and the victim's advocate:
A: I told you I don't remember much about being attacked. He was behind me and then all of a sudden it gets hazy. The next clear memory I have is being in the back of the ambulance and the look on my husband's face. I thought I was dying, because he thought I was.
VM: But you survived
A: But I shouldn't have. He had me dead to rights. Came up behind me and I didn't even know he was there
.....
VM: it will take time for you to heal
A: what if that part of me never does?
I'm going insane because if we're talking about how buddie kind of follows in bathena's footsteps....it's already crazy that in this final episode Athena's right freaking arm was in a sling the whole time and then exactly a season later so is Eddie's? There's something here what is it????

The part about this that’s driving me crazy is this specific line: “The next clear memory I have is being in the back of the ambulance and the look on my husband’s face. I thought I was dying because he thought I was dying.”
Is this not what happened exactly with Buck and Eddie in the back of that fire truck? Eddie’s first and only moment of consciousness throughout that whole situation is him seeing Buck covered in his blood and asking “are you hurt?” I don’t even need to go back and rewatch that little bit (bc I’ve only seen it like 100 times) to remember the wild and worried look on Buck’s face when he answers Eddie and says he’s okay. We’ve yet to hear Eddie talk about getting shot and the immediate aftermath of it, but I can imagine that his feelings reflect what Athena expressed to the advocate.
It’s absolutely insane to think about what we aren’t seeing of and hearing from Eddie right now. Heck, Athena tried to move on from her attack quickly and bury everything deep down, but we witnessed her doing so. With Eddie, we are witnessing nothing. But it’s all of the nothing that makes it so much heavier…we know Eddie and we know he moves on, he charges ahead, even if it’s to his own detriment. We know he does this and we’ve seen what happens when he doesn’t put himself first and address what needs to be addressed. It’s all going to come crashing down, and it’s just a matter of when.
(Also so interesting to me that, even if just because of the episode order switch, Eddie is completely absent after he and Buck went through the hostage ordeal…after he saw Buck running wild and yelling for him out of fear. I just don’t see how seeing Buck react that way wouldn’t throw Eddie right back onto the floor of that fire truck…something he probably was dealing with alone at home during all of Ghost Stories.)
When I talk about the Bobby/Athena parallels, I tend to focus on the Buck and Bobby of it all, since they are canonically more open than either Eddie or Athena and it’s easier to know what they’re thinking…but I love you for this, because that one Athena line just set me off thinking about Eddie and the contributions he’ll make to the conversation when he and Buck finally get there. I can’t wait to see it.

This what I'm saying!!!! This scene not happening near the beginning, or in the middle, or even right before the whole Buck/Taylor situ, is so loud! It's literally the last bonafide scene of the season and that absolutely makes me feral. And considering how the show likes to circle back around to the same themes during the same parts of the seasons....I just have this feeling something big is coming for these two at the end of 5b, that even if it's not canonical onscreen "get together" it's confirmation going "it's these two, it's always been these two, it's always gonna be these two"

You took me out with that last line there because that's really what they said with that scene, didn't they? That much like the will reveal scene itself, whenever they talk about it again, it's going to tell us that it's always been these two, no matter what.
I made a post back in the day that of course tumblr won't let me find now about how the placement of this scene is so damning even if you just compare it to the scene before where BT get together. Like isn't it a bit laughable now how they got together, how rushed it all was (they cut it as soon as they kissed), and then got immediately, completely eclipsed by the Buck and Eddie scene? If Buck and Taylor are meant to be anything longterm and/or endgame, it would've made a lot of sense to have their get together be the last scene of the season—paralleling Bobby and Athena's date in the S1 finale—instead of a hasty scene right before the Buck and Eddie scene?
And for that matter, the choice they made to have Eddie change his will a year ago, and not something he was running by Buck because he got shot is itself so telling. Because Eddie didn't even completely answer why he didn't tell Buck before. He told Buck the reason he was telling him now, not the reason he didn't tell him at the time. I can only believe that Eddie doesn't fully know the reason himself, or perhaps can't process the entirety of his emotions regarding the decision just yet. But every word and every line of that scene feels like a punch straight to the gut, and by the time we got to "Because, Evan" and "You think you're expendable but you're wrong" I was nothing but a ball of tears on the floor of my living room. Insane scene doesn't even begin to cover it. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.
Anyway, I'm with you that something big is coming for these two at the end of 5b, some sort of a nod towards where they're going. Considering all the S3 parallels we're getting, if they end with a nice big party where we see all the family units and my Buckley-Diaz boys back together again but maybe with the hint of romance on the horizon for Buck and Eddie, I'd be ecstatic.
And with that I'm going to go stare at gifs of the shooting and the Because, Evan scene until it's March 21.

Can you make one where me and Buck have always been close seeing as we grew up together so I’d been with him though thick and thin, but little did he know the reason I was always by his side was cause I love him. Anyway when he sees Abby at first I’m just as shocked as him when he sees her and all the hurt feelings I had back when he was first with her, but when his face falls at her mention of a fiancé that all goes away and I try to hug him, but he kinda pushes me off telling me not to worry about him and get our job done. We then end up getting separated to go do the job in separate parts of the wreckage. When all is said and done I try to call him, but he doesn’t answer so I just go home. The next day I just decide to go over to his place {which is just down the hall from his} when he doesn’t answer the door I just use the key he gave me and decide to wait for him. Eventually he comes home, only to find me on his couch asleep. He ends up going to get ready for the party deciding to just give me a few minutes to get a little more sleep, so when he’s done getting ready he comes and crouch’s in front of the couch and wakes me up very sweetly. He then sits next to me after I sat up and we end up talking and he ends up telling me he talk to Abby who made him realize something. He then continues on and says that he’s in love with me. I then tell him sweetly that I am to then we lay back and cuddle for a while before I get up and he wines asking why I’m getting up and I remind him that we have a party to get to and he groans as I get to the door trying to get to my apartment to get ready and he try’s to convince me to stay, but I just keep walking and say no. I then get ready and we get to the party and everyone is happy to see us holding hands with a smile and Athena throws her hands up in the air saying “FINALLY you two,”

It was a strange word to associate with your life long best friend but it felt right. Something I truly feared was his rejection if I ever confessed to him because I only had eyes for him. Sure, other guys looked nice but something about Buck was different. Maybe it was the birthmark at his eyebrow, his sharp jaw, that beautiful smile, or his enticing, ocean blue eyes that held stories upon stories in them.
The day was going smooth as I sat on a barstool, overlooking Buck's shoulder at a pamphlet Eddie handed him for a children's summer camp. "Summer camp?" Buck questioned, his brows furrowed in confusion "It's all he can talk about" Eddie casually replied "Some of the other kids from school are going... It's only two weeks" I kept looking at the colorful paper before what Eddie had said finally came to me.
"Whoa, whoa. Two weeks away from home? Isn't Chris kinda young for that? I mean, what if something happens? What if he gets homesick" The concern in Buck's voice was clear but Eddie just kinda rolled his eyes with a small, annoyed sigh "I'm pretty sure I brought in the brochure so you guys can make me feel better about him going"
Chim lightly waved a wooden spoon at him before resuming his stirring "Clearly, you did not think that plan through to its logical conclusion." "I started going to sleepaway camp when I was 8. I loved it. Camp Weegeewagen.. Eedee-idee-odee-ooh-hoo... Looked forward to it every year" I lightly chuckled at Bobby, munching on a quick made sandwich, enjoying the playful group banter.
I was in shock at the scene despite having being part of the LAFD as long as I have, crushed cars, debris and so much more as I secured my helmet onto my head while I hoped & prayed with all I got we could & would save everyone.
"Please, if you can just let me up into the car. Please! I've gotta get up there" The voice that spoke in a worried plea sounded familiar yet my mind worried not on that but the person infront of me who luckily wasn't seriously hurt, just a few cuts, bumps & bruises which gave me the smallest bit of relief.
"Wait, are you from the 118?" The woman asked as Eddie responded with a simple 'yeah'. "Abby?" I turned to look at Buck, seeing the look plastered on his face as the name he called registered my mind as I had an almost equally shocked look on my face. This definitely was not the proper situation to be meeting your best friend's ex in.
"Buck." Her voice was almost relieved but I could sense that bit of surprise & maybe even pain, they never had a proper breakup so I understood. "Wait, you were on the train." She just nodded "Yeah, I've gotta-" Buck quickly grabbed her arm, pulling her away "We need to get you checked out" She carefully pulled herself away, looking back to the train car sticking straight in the air "No, no, no. I'm fine. I need to get up there"
"Abby--what? No, that's crazy! No, no, Abby, Abby, stop!" I swallowed back nervously, my eyes darting to Eddie for reassurance before back to the other two "I'm trying to find somebody!" She hoarsely screamed, panic more then evident all over her. I walk up, gently resting my hand on her shoulder "Okay. Well, just tell us who. We're going-" She turned to me "My fiance!" I looked from her to Buck with my brows knitted tightly together.
"He fell asleep and I went to the bar car." Her voice was break more & more with each word as Eddie gave her soft, calming eyes "Okay. Can you give us a description?" She nodded, sniffling through her tears, pulling her phone out as the three of us look at it, studying it to remember the man but Buck seemed more focus on how happy she looked & the thoughts that were more then likely running in his mind were hurting him more then he'd ever admit.
The climb up the car was an exercise with the back board I was carrying as we ended up using the seats as leverage. Black tag. Not our first on this job but it still hurt regardless, knowing we weren't quick enough to save these poor people. "Sam! Sam, can you hear me?" I grunted, hoisting myself up to basically stand on the seat back as he groaned, barely lifting his head "Hey Sam. How you feeling?" I sighed, a cut just below his hair line but nothing bad from what I could physically see.
"It hurts" His voice was tired & small "Yeah." I looked around, looking at Eddie before looking back to Sam "Hurts when I breathe. Please. My fiancee.. She's on the train" I quietly sighed to myself "Yeah, hey, hey. She's okay" I looked at him, bringing my walkie up "Cap, I got a passenger pinned up here. Looks like the support bean from the observation deck broke through the floor. Need you to send up the jaws okay?"
Bobby quickly responded as I carefully lift Sam's head up, pressing my feet into the back of the seat to keep myself from slipping. I can only hope we all get out of here alive with these people. The train shifting truthfully scared me as I clung to the seat with dear life, losing my footing for a moment, letting out a heavy breath that was trapped in my chest.
To have Bobby here made me feel much better about this, some more, needed hope. "He's got a collapsed lung from the blunt force. O2 levels are dropping. I can relieve the pressure, but we gotta move this beam off him" I looked at Bobby, then to Eddie and back at Buck as the four of us were all buddied together tightly in the car, not at the moment realizing their were others here.
"It's not moving Cap, too heavy" He nodded "Alright, let's try the hydraulic ram." It was normal but scary as we all carefully watched Bobby until a scream of utter pain alerted us as I carefully spun around to go look for the girl who was only about a seat or two down. I grabbed the back, tossing it off to the side & her visible physically injuries were horrible "How you doing?" I pursed my lips together, bringing my med bag up beside me with a slight grunt.
"My side really hurts" I nodded, moving my light in area of her side, carefully lifting up her shirt to find what I could only make out to be a bone broken out of the skin & despite the things I've seen, certain things like this made my stomach crawl. "Force of the crash pushed her leg up into her torso"What?" She said tiredly but with heavy panic while very weakly trying to move the beam off her. "This is gonna hurt a little bit" Eddie commented, carefully slipping her boot off "There's still a pulse in her foot. Blood's still pumping to it"
"Hey what's going on?" Buck questioned as we all were so tired, so out of it. "The beam is trapping both of them. If we take the pressure off either one of them, the other with probably die" I sighed, replying to Buck in hope both could be save as I fidgeted with my gloved fingers. Let everyone get out alive.
I watched, my brows furrowed with pure anger and sadness. There has to be a way to save them both, I refuse to let another person die on my hands. "There has to be a way. I can't let this girl die on us & watch the pain on her family's face!" I was mentally fighting myself as I sighed, the tears threatening to fall at any given moment, Bobby giving me a look of pity "(Y/N).... you gotta accept these losses at some-" I groan "I know I have to but I can't! It never gets easier Bobby!"
Buck turned to us with bright eyes "I have an idea that could save them both." I quickly turned to Buck & for a quick moment, I saw my bright, happy & adventurous life-long friend as I smiled, my heart gripping the love it held for him.
Bobby seemed to agree to the plan after Buck explained it even though they bickered over it & radioed for needed supplies to be readied, there was hope even though small, it was there. "We're almost there Sam. Okay? You'll see your fiancee and kids.." He just tiredly nodded as the train shifted again, nearly standing up straight, sending aggressive amounts of fear through my veins.
I kept myself by Sam to hold him up as the pressure of the seat crushing him slowly came off with the lucky help of the jaws, the relief on Sam's face made me happy as we helped him towards Buck. We did it, we saved them both as I let out a heavy, shaky breath, forcing myself to hold back tears as me & Eddie both carefully slipped out the hole Buck made. At least something good came from today & it was something to be the smallest bit happy about.
The hazy night glow casted through the curtains as I tiredly groaned, not wanting to do anything but forget about last nights job. I looked around Buck's cozy apartment as I shuffled over to the couch, tossing my bag off to the side as I lay down with a heavy groan, feeling the many pins & needles all over my body as I stared at the ceiling for what seemed like forever until I finally passed out, only awake enough to hear Buck walk in.

Yesterday was hell, the wreck, Abby, everything. I stared at my door for a moment, seeing the doormat disturbed a bit as I just lightly chuckled, knowing (Y/N) was here as I quietly open the door & just as quietly shut it behind me, placing my things on the kitchen counter.
I made way towards my couch to sit but to see (Y/N)'s sleeping form made me smile & in that moment, it had come to me. All the girls I dated before was just for me to forget the way I felt for her, my life long best friend. I sighed lightly before heading off to shower, letting her get the more then needed rest, getting ready for the upcoming party at Athena & Bobby's place.
I lingered in the shower a moment longer, staring at the steamed shower walls before shutting the water off & dressing up as I'd usually do before going back over to (Y/N), watching with a smile on my lips that spread from ear-to-ear before crouching down to get a more straight foward look at her face.
"Hey, gotta wake up hun. We got somewhere to be" I kept my voice soft, pushing hair from her face & I swear I felt my heart skip a beat. "I know you want beauty sleep to maintain your own beauty, which I understand. There's something kinda important I wanna ask you and I don't wanna wait anymore" She stirred slightly, her eyes fluttering open then shut a few times before she finally woke up.
She looked at me, holding her hand up infront of her to keep the sun out of her eyes before she carefully sat up & stretched "What's up?" She slumped over as I sat aside with with a heavy sigh, sliding a cup of coffee over. "I talked to Abby today" She looked at me, seeming to already know where this was going. "I wanted to clear things up about us, about why she never bothered to talk to me while she was gone"
My leg started bouncing at her gentle hand rubbed small circles on my upper back, laying her head on my shoulder "I'm sure she meant to Buck.." I sighed "That's the thing (Y/N), even though she explained everything, I still don't understand. Did I do something wrong? Did I rush things? Was she with me out of just pity?" I heavily sighed, wiping my hands over my face "I can't understand it at all..."
She looked at me with soft eyes that held billions of stars & galaxies in them, if only I could look into them forever. "It isn't your fault Buck, it never was. All relationships can feel rushed at any given point. Don't blame yourself for this. You helped her through a great deal of pain when she lost her mom. You're an amazing man Buck, I know cause I grew up with you & Maddie my whole life"
I looked at her & just smiled "I'm..." I had to process everything "I'm in love with you (Y/N) and- and I get if you-" She laughed lightly, her hand holding my cheek gently "I'm in love with you too Buck. I have been for as long as I can remember. I laugh happy as I wrap my arms around her & laying back on the couch & right there, I had all I ever wanted.
It was calm, nothing but pure happiness between the two of us as I admired the person I held so close to me & this is all that mattered, I finally had her, my favorite person to ever exist & maybe, just maybe, this is what true love felt like when you didn't hide from it.

"Hey, I need to get ready & we gotta get going for that party" Buck groaned "But we could have more fun if we just stayed here and kept cuddling" I smile, drawing small circles on his shirt "While I do agree, I don't think we'd hear the end of it from Bobby" He whines "Please? I don't wanna go anymore, this is better" I sat up, shaking my head "No Buck. I'm not getting my ear chewed out" He pouts, his eyes sad but in a joking manner, dropping his hands. "Fine but you're making this up when we get back" I nod, putting my hands up "I will do just that okay? I promise. Pinky promise?" He smiles as our pinkies interlock before I finally stood up, changing in the bathroom.
We parked outside of Athena & Bobby's place as Buck rushed from the drivers side to me, opening the door & showing off his big goofy smile which made my heart swoon. I took his hand, sliding out of the jeep as he locked it up & the two of us made our way inside, hand in hand, smiles painting both of our faces.
We only stopped when we noticed everyone looking at us with smiles as Athena shuffled foward, her smile big & proud as her hands raised up in the air & dropped down with a happy sigh "Finally you two! We've all been wondering when this would happen" I smile, my cheeks burning red as I hide my face in Buck's shoulder as we stepped down the steps & the night went on with smiles & laughter. Most of all, I was finally in love with the right person. My person, Evan Buckley.

For the honesty question, I've got two: 1. What reactions do you think the 118/their partners have while watching horror films? (I can imagine Buck cuddling Eddie). 2.if you were to go on a holiday who would you take with you from the 118? 💖💖
Ooh babe such good questions!!! Ok for the first one:
Bobby and Athena are so unphased. Well Athena is and she rolls her eyes at her husband who gets queasy when it’s gore. He doesn’t think some of the ways these people die is normal and believable. Athena loves horror movies. It honestly gives her a kick. Bobby just wraps his arm around his wife and basks in their alone time, regardless of the crazy happening in the background.
Maddie and Chim watch horror movies because Maddie has never seen the classics and Chim has made it his mission in life to assure his girlfriend sees them all. She is so invested and they equally enjoy them. Maddie enjoys them a little too much and she now doesn’t wanna watch anything else besides horror movies. Chim thinks he may have created a monster.
Hen and Karen don’t like horror movies. They opt to watch action movies instead because this way Karen won’t be up all night with nightmares. Hen loves her enough to be content with watching action movies because she knows both of them are badasses in their own right! Plus she gets her horror fix with Chim on slow days at the station. It’s a win-win for them both.
Buck and Eddie are complete opposites when it comes to horror movies. Eddie absolutely loves them whereas Buck hates them. Buck of course puts up with them for his Eddie but it’s like once a month. Eddie appreciates Buck’s sacrifice and let’s him nuzzle into his neck the entire time. Eddie also always has a hand around Buck and squeezes him gently to reassure him that he’s there and everything’s ok. Buck loves him for that but insists on watching a Disney movie right after so he can sleep restfully. Eddie cannot deny the man anything of course.
As for your second question, if I were to go on a vacation from anyone from the 118, I’m choosing Buck and Eddie. Look I’m not even saying this bc I would love to be sandwiched between those two fine men. No I would love to just witness them being so damn domestic and in love. The things I’d do to be a fly on the wall with them being all soft and heart eyes. It would honestly make my trip so fun and enjoyable. Like ugh give us a Buckley-Diaz family vacation dammit!!! Haha

So I've also had an ask about Athenas dress specifically - so what I'm going to do is talk to you about Bobby here and then @moniquekatie in her ask about Athenas dress. I will tag you in that post so you'll know I've made it!!!!
So Bobby
First up - how is that man sitting in the hot California sun not sweating buckets because not only is he in a shirt and jacket, he is also wearing a white undershirt!!!!
We have Bobby in 3 different colours - I think we're looking at 3 shades of blue, but the trousers could be black - hard to know for sure. Lets assume they are very dark navy blue because thats the direction the sheen where the light hits is pushing me!
The interesting thing to me is that this almost parallels him with Eddie. Eddie is strictly speaking in 3 colours as well (4 if you want to argue the two different blacks!) - black navy and light blue, but where as Eddie has one item that has two of the colours on there is difference. For Eddie the distinction is clear - it is about the past (the black shirt and trousers) and the present/future (the two blues of the jacket), its less obvious for Bobby. this is especially true when we know that Bobby and Eddie are going to have a big conversation in the next couple of episodes - that it will help Bobby in some way!
All my thoughts about blue still play out with this jacket shirt and trousers combo - the light blue has white tones to it so it is about balance, openness and clarity from the white and calmness and peace from the blue. this being the colour closest to his skin suggests to me that Bobbys actually in an okay place at this moment in time - that he is in a fairly stable place, I know, I know we've seen all this foreshadowing, that doesn't mean he was in that place before the wedding and nor does it mean he will still be in that place later on.
The lighter navy jacket and the darker navy trousers are all suggestive of Bobby not being in such a great place going forward - blues - especially the use of two different navy shades because darker blues are so representative of depression and play into the idea of fragility - that Bobbys mental stability is in fact fragile - jackets wrap around in in a way that other clothes don't - they are kind of a symbol of protecting ones self - we usually wear coats or jackets when its cold or for formal events like weddings, but it is even here in many ways it can provide some protection.
Basically what this all equates to for me is that Bobby is in an okay place, but that things could very quickly change - that all those moments we've been seeing that hint at his troubles - they are all still there ready to shift the balance to Bobby not being okay - a bit like Eddie with his storage locker of trauma that had its doors blown off, Bobby has control over his own trauma pile - at the moment, and maybe if something wasn't about to happen (ahem *cruise ship* ahem) he would able to keep on top of that pile - to sort through some of it as his worlds is all getting back to being in a good place with Athena, the kids and the firehouse, but if something happens before he is able to make much progress - well it might just push him over the top!
Obviously this is all based on the hints we've had about the cruise ship and without full context of the script and scenes its hard to be accurate because the designer is working with way more info than I am about both the scene and the future, but its definitely hinting towards darker times for Bobby!

I've been sucked into the 911 fandom without having watched the show (I am having flashbacks to Firefly, that's how that started, too), so the time has finally come to remedy that. I have two days off plus the weekend, let's see how far I will be able to dive in.
What is hilarious though, is that I know plenty of things that happen in the show from all the fanfic I have already read. And so far the first season looks like a completely different show than the one that I have read about.
- Buck actually does start out as a very annoying bro type character. I got the impression he was slated for a woobie niche right off the bat. He wasn't.
- While the therapy session is seriously fucked up, I have say the way he asked her if she is the one who friended him on Facebook... does sound somewhat manipulative. Also interesting, that this was the one and only therapy session we have seen. Did she refer him to another doctor? Did he stop therapy once he got his dick wet? Did he get only one session covered by the department? So many questions, absolutely no answers. And honestly, it doesn't make Buck look good.
- For all that fanfic writers love to dump on Abby, like the majority of fandom often does with female love interests in the way of their ship, the only reason Buck turned even a bet likeable at the end of season 1 was because of Abby. She was the character development he badly needed. (Though the way she just disappeared on him is justifiably self-serving. Still, I do believe that she was real with him up to the episode with their second date. That is the moment their romance started fizzling out. There are ways to write about it without turning her into an absolutely heartless bitch).
- I think I wore similar kind of frames as Abby up to fourteenth birthday. Those look so dated. Everyone told me how unfashionable my glasses looked. It's real: everything comes back again.
- Everyone who has a family member that is dependent on specialized care deserves someone like Carla. I wouldn't have loved if my mom had someone from homecare service to help her with my grandma that was at least half as helpful and nice as Carla. Instead of whatever the fuck useless twats she had to rely on.
- What the hell is Chimney's problem? Aren't the guys supposed to be good friends? Like, Buck is Chim's little bro? I can't see anything good-natured in their relationship - or more like the good-natured bit is one-sided. Must be the chip on Chim's shoulder that is the size of the moon that is hiding all his affection for Buck. Chim is an asshole and a bully and I don't like him. Even if Buck comes with his own shitload of problems, he could have just as well kept professional distance, but these constant cutting barbs and barely checked envy and jealousy are so damn annoying.
- I thought the rebar thing was some fan writers idea of spitballing emergencies. I am shook to find out that it is really canon. This sound so fake, I always thought it was the least believable part of any fic.
- Isn't Buck supposed to have some super broad but arcane knowledge? Knowing some pretty weird stuff in weird detail? Haven't seen that in canon just yet. Only thing special about him is that he doesn't have some of the normal hangups.
- Best characters so far: Athena and Hen. Even the cheating arc doesn't diminish how good written Hen is. Instead of unlikeable it makes her more human and relatable. (Also, the actress is so breathtakingly beautiful). Athena ... is just Athena. If I start writing why I like Athena, she will need her own post.
- Goddamn that scene with the handcuffs and sex date had me in stitches. Such brilliant writing.
- Makes me wonder though how insulated she is as a cop against consequences with that 'skanky hoe' thing. That was so not okay, and she still got mad bc she had to file paperwork for a couple days instead of roaming the streets???
- Don't get me wrong, I love Bobby's backstory. But I really think that if he fucked up this badly, that no fire department would touch him anymore; lest give him a job as the captain at the station. The insurance alone would shoot through the roof and make him unemployable. Any asshole that wants to sue the dept and finds out about his history is gonna see dollar signs. That said - his character makes a sad sort of sense. Another piece of brilliant writing.
- In conclusion: if I only had watched season one and only seen the impressions of the show based on tumblr posts I would be wondering what the hell everyone is smoking who likes Buck and Chimney and hates Abby; and wonder where all the other firefighters and paramedics at the station are because we see almost exclusively Buck, Hen, Bobby and parttime Chim. I get that the reason is budgetary constraints but I think the only time we see something approaching the full shift is Chims party. Where was the rest of the station with the plane crash? What about the wedding? Are there at least some people they are familar with on the scene?
