DON'T WALK AWAY (threat)” is fantastic.#And “Don't waste your pretty sympathy - I'll always be just fine”. Xue Yang core.#Okay now for the real meat. Disclaimer first: *I really like XY.* I think he's a great character. I think his actions consistently-#come from a place of deep trauma. While his reactions and actions put him in a villainous role he is still human about his hurt#and what I'm about to say is NOT intended to be a statement of causality or villianize a group of misunderstood people.#So with that said...Man oh man does Xue Yang have a lot of BPD traits. More that just 'character who is chronically manipulative'.#The impulsivity and emotional reactions and seeking stability makes him feel like he needs that control. What other choice is there?#The part that really gets me is how he *wants* to be safe and happy. But his past experiences tell him how thats impossible#He's the kind of person who goes 'if you don't like me then you better hate me for something substantial". All (pos) or All (neg)#''Love me entirely or Hate me. But don't you dare leave me or forget about me.''#Not at all comfortable saying 'BPD coded'. Im not a psychiatrist. Just that he has TRAITS. Who needs more than 3 hours of sleep? Not you. You're totally absolutely fine, you actually love that your neighbors were up all night partying. Really.
You are so fucking tired. It was a long day at the shop, there were a lot of very annoying customers, and all you could think of was getting home and taking a nap. König fret over you the whole walk home, making soft inquisitive noises and hovering like you might collapse at any moment.
He follows you in when you unlock your door, concern apparently outweighing politeness. You toss your keys in the bowl and let him lock the door behind you as you toe off your shoes. König leaves you to go fuss around in the kitchen, you take the opportunity to strip and find more nap-able clothes. You slip on the biggest tee you can find and collapse on your bed. You are so fucking exhausted, maybe you'll skip dinner and just sleep.
You drift in the twilight in-between of sleep and wakefulness, listening to König make a mess of your kitchen, bemoaning the sun streaming through your window and directly onto your face. The kitchen noise stops and you get up to close your curtains, you should tell König to go home too. You're not great company right now.
You pad out of your room, determined to get your home to yourself and nearly bump into your giant. You blink slowly at his chest, hearing a deep rumble start up from it like an engine warming up. The sound threatens to drag you back into that sleepless twilight, and you waver lightly on your feet.
"Meine kleine liebling," he coos, scooping you up off your feet, "look at you." You don't want to say the sudden change in elevation has woken you up, but it certainly is attempting to restart your system. Your fingers twist and grip his shirt as you're moved from the hall back to the bedroom.
"Are you purring?" You can feel the rhythm of it under your fingers, gentle and sonorous. König doesn't answer, just flops both of you down onto your bed and arranges you how he likes. You let out a soft "oof" when he settles on top of you, his nose pressed against your neck and his hands roaming your body possessively.
The purring hasn't stopped, you can feel it against your chest now, pressing you insistently back towards your tired lull. Your head rolls against the pillow, as König grips your thigh and coaxes it against his hip.
"Too tired," you murmur, feeling him still before he gives a short nod against your neck. You can feel his teeth just hovering against your pulse, his tongue tasting your skin, his breathing is so deep and even. He's smelling you, your brain supplies helpfully, scenting you.
"Wearing my shirt," He fills in, you hum and wrap your arms around his shoulders, "Ich werde später meinen Geruch in dich ficken."

I was reading some research about split brain patients, or people who have had the connection of the brain hemispheres (or corpus callosum) severed, leaving the two halves unable to communicate. And of course I immediately thought of Jekyll and Hyde.
Now I am one to know very well that J&H are not split personalities nor "brain sides", but the similarities are so neat I don't see why I couldn't dive in a little deeper into representation. I know this has most likely been looked into before as them being the two brain sides, but I wonder if ever in a much more real life situation like in split brain patients, (their experiments are trippy, I recommend watching them), not just in a hypothetical sense.
As Hyde representing the right brain, it definitely works as a really good "villain origin story". Since that hemisphere does not have the ability to speak, when working and connected with the left brain it is forced to submit to the more "analytical and reasoning" side. When Hyde is set free, he now has a voice and a freedom in what to do, where now the left brain has to submit (hence Jekyll not being able to change back since reasoning isn't priority, only want). That feeling is intoxicating for one who's never known it.
The right brain is primarily used for senses, identification, etc., so Hyde only cares about chasing his desires. Now able to figure out things for himself, without having to do whatever the left brain says, anything is possible. That feeling of unexplainable actions is very obvious in split brain patients (the left hand, controlled by the right brain, draws something that the left brain doesn't know the reason for) where the horror of this story being a possibility is much more conceivable.
So, who really are you? Or was Stevenson right and you.. were always really two?

"Ah, Nik, wait!"
Nikolai turns back around at the sound of the Captain's voice.
"You're going to make me miss my flight," he pretends to complain, not able to keep himself from smiling.
Price rolls his eyes. "You're the one flying your flight back home."
Nik chuckles. John looks annoyed, but clearly it's not directed at him if him relaxing in his presence is to be believed.
"Anyway, I won't keep you long, I just need you to teach me how to say something in Russian."
There's a terrible idea rising in Nik's mind. He tries to ignore it at first.
"There's this guy, he's a fucking asshole and I'd like to tell him to go fuck himself in his native language."
He nods distractedly at Price. But it would be the perfect moment... He leaves right after that, after all... And John wouldn't understand right away, he'd have time to go hide somewhere.
"Right," he clears his throat and smiles at Price. "I can do that, sure. Repeat after me, try to remember the words : я -"
Price squints his eyes in concentration. He looks so fucking cute that Nik could die.
"Ya -"
"влюбилась"
"Woah, okay, vl...vlyoubeelas?"
Nik's smile is growing. "Good," he says, voice lower. Swears that John's cheeks are redder than they were before. Interesting. "в"
Price frowns. "Just 'vv' ?"
"Да. And finally, тебя."
"Tyebya."
Nik's heart is starting to beat a bit faster, apparently just now realising what he was doing. There's no going back now.
"Now the whole thing : я влюбилась в тебя"
John's brow furrows more in deep focus. "Ya vlyoubeelas vtyebya."
Damn, that makes Nik's cheeks warmer and his smile wider. He knows that Price doesn't mean it, doesn't even know what it means, but if that's all he's going to get, he's going to cherish it inside his heart.
He isn't sure John will want anything to do with him when he'll look it up, after all, he hasn't survived this long by having too high hopes. His smile softens and he nods at his friend.
"Not bad. Remember the words."
Price huffs. "Of course I'll remember the words. Now go, wouldn't want you to miss your own chopper back home."
Nik laughs and shakes his head as he turns around and walks to his helicopter. He stops before climbing in, turns his head back towards the Captain.
"Oh, and John, don't actually tell him that, he has no right to hear it."
He knows Price well enough to know that he's sighing right now, but he's too far to hear it.
"What did you even teach me?" He asks in a jokingly tired voice.
Nik grins back at him. "You'll have to look it up, зайчик."

It's okay to want to pass or to bind or tuck or things like that, and it's insensitive to imply that trans people doing so is proof they are trying to "conform to cissexism". It is okay to want to transition "traditionally". It is okay to not want that, too. What isn't okay (and will never be okay) is to degrade other people for the choices they make or for the choices they have to make.

I go by she/her because that's what I'm used to, but gender isn't really something that important or meaningful to me personally. I use they/them when referring to myself, but I have no problem with others using any other pronouns (though I'm not used to neopronouns, so perhaps not those).

Okay I gotta say it though. Because I'm VIBRATING from excitement. Odysseus, Diomedes, and Telemachus she watches over more because well... they do dumb things sometimes (Telemachus has an excuse he's young. These two old fucks? NEED her guidance. Or at least, Diomedes isn't as "scrappy" as Odysseus but he's also more of the "war" part of Athena while Odysseus is her "clever" part.)
Penelope? Athena watches over her but in a "You've got things handled. I want to see what you do." sorta way. She's eating popcorn while watching Penelope swindle the suitors and pull other ploys and is so happy about it. She's in little owl form watching her weave and these 2 give each other riddles for fun.
You know that character meme? the one where one person is standing but holding the "leash" of another?
Athena is clearly the one holding the leash.
Diomedes and Odysseus are this little guy with that pose and a leash (Diomedes might be in a more laidback pose?)
Penelope is in the SAME pose because she's just as crazy BUT she's off-leash because "she's a good blorbo" who wouldn't tell the cyclops her name
Telemachus is ON a leash but he's sitting sweetly, playing with the grass or something because he's not as feral as his parents but he's also young and LEARNING so Athena is watching over him more closely.
