What each marauder’s fav musical would be (in my opinion):
James - beetlejuice (chaotic af, funny and happy ending…)
Regulus - Jekyll and Hyde (thought provoking, sad ending also he’d find ‘bitch bitch bitch’ funny bc that’s lowkey exactly what the ppl at functions he has to attend are like. Also he loves ‘bring on the men’ and I won’t accept questions and if ur confused about the name, it’s exactly what it sounds like.)
Remus - Hamilton (he just…would love it.)
Sirius - Six (no question. And he would sing ‘Don’t lose ur head’ at the drop of a hat. He defo learnt the dance to ex-wives and six finale)
Peter - Dear Evan Hansen (he just gives me those vibes like he genuinely would love it and I love that 4 him)
Barty - Heathers (pretty sure this was in like one of my first posts too but he would LOVE heathers.)
Evan - Moulin Rouge! (OMG this one was actually hard icl I couldn’t think of one for ages but I actually think this is perfect for Evan. He definitely prefers like plainer style of stuff and shit and pretends not to like musicals but he goes excited like a puppy dog with proper heart eyes if you show him the absolutely over decorated stage they perform moulin rouge on. And you best believe he knows all the lyrics of ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry but no no my friend it’s not because he listens to her, in fact he’d probably be confused about the annoying pop song arrangement of ‘the song from moulin rouge’ also he loves the song mashup bit in ‘backstage romance’ that they dance to (if you don’t know what I mean then play this song but skip to 2:30 bc the start of the song won’t make sense without the entire plot detailed to you) because I say so because everyone does because it’s impossible not to.)
Mary - Anastasia (look I will not be accepting slander of this musical and neither would Mary. It is a masterpiece.)
Lily - Jesus Christ Superstar (fucking love this musical and only the best for Lily Evans. She would love it because I said so.)
Pandora - Hadestown (thought provoking, gorgeous music, based off a Greek myth. Just yes. Also I can picture her humming Orpheus’ tune but especially the extended bit in ‘wait for me’ )
Marlene - Les Misérables (ok so I know this might seem like an odd option for her but hear me out hear me out…Marlene attempting to perform all the parts in ‘one day more’ and blasting ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ from her phone as an attempt to scare people.)
Dorcas - Phantom of the Opera (the absolute dramatic theme is definitely her jam and she absolutely knows how to play it on every instrument. Like she doesn’t necessarily know how to play an instrument but you can bet she at least knows the phantom’s theme on it.)
my theatre kid side is rlly coming thru in this oops
also if anyone wants to know the specific albums (bc a lot of them have more than one recording) of the musical that I prefer and am thinking of as I write this then check below ‘keep reading’
beetlejuice/hamilton/anastasia all only have one - the original bway cast
Jekyll and Hyde - ‘Jekyll and Hyde: The Gothic Musical Thriller’ (the 1995 one with Anthony Warlow as J/H)
Six - ‘Six: the musical (studio cast recording)’ sorry to the Broadway cast lovers, I prefer the og Brit one bc it feels weird to hear them with American accents to me
Dear Evan Hansen - the original Broadway cast recording, not the movie one
Heathers - Original West end cast. Again sorry to all the ppl that prefer the off broadway one, west end heathers ver till I die, it’s just better like ‘never shut up again’? I say no? I’m sorry it’s just better, no matter how much u say ‘blue’ is better than ‘your welcome’
Moulin Rouge - original Broadway cast, as much as I love Nicole Kidman I just prefer the bway cast recording to the movie recs
Jesus Christ Superstar - ‘Jesus Christ Superstar (Remastered 2005)’ the one with the 1996 London cast, it’s just my favourite album of it because of the song arrangement
Hadestown - original Broadway cast recording (I feel like ppl don’t rlly listen to the concept album anymore bc it’s just so wildly different from how the actual show music ended up sounding, I do actually quite like it but the musical ver is better in my opinion)
Les Mis - holy shit there’s a lot of albums for this one, tbh I’m not thinking of a specific one but maybe the 2010 London recording - the live one(?) I just quite like it but tbh I listen to a diff album each time I swear 😭
Phantom of the Opera - the original 1986 London cast one bc I just prefer it to the movie

Hello…? Hello..? This is stupid thing on..?! Oh!- Uh, hi!
Greetings and salutations guys, gals, and non-binary and neo-pronoun using pals - The name is Reese, or Ray, whatever ya like honestly.
I began writing fanfiction 2-3 years ago in the Harry Potter fandom, but that slowly fizzled out cause, y’know, cough cough burnout… But now I’m back, more enthusiastic than before!
This blog is for Hazbin Hotel for now, but that may or may not change in the future.
But enough fic talk, this show is about me!
Tumblr media
I’m not too good at explaining myself, or introducing myself, so this may be a bit over sharing or under sharing depending on how far into this I get, so apologies in advanced, friends.
As y’know, the name is Reese (or Ray) and I’m 16 (17 in a few months) and am a junior in high school.
I’m a theatre kid, I don’t consider myself an impeccable singer (despite what others say), but I will admit, I can hold a small tune. I also am kinda sporty kinda guy. I play baseball and hockey as of recently.
This is probably either the most unique or lame thing about me depending on who’s talking, but I love biking, I even own a motorcycle (I just bought it a few weeks ago 🙏). Probably one of the best ways to spend my time.
I’m very family oriented and I love my friends, including my online friends! So if anyone wants to be friends, hmu ig lol.

Actors as Moral Alignments
Lawful Good: Favorite musicals include Tuck Everlasting, The Light in the Piazza, and A Chorus Line. Always early. Genuinely listens to the stage manager. Isn’t scared of the director, but has a healthy respect. Willing to help move set pieces and build props. Knows how to do their own hair/makeup. Apologizes to the costumer profusely every time they so much as pop a button. Probably has the official score books for their favorite musicals. The mom/dad friend. Lives on tea and always carries advil. Will talk you through an identity crisis. Most likely to know everyone else’s parts.
Neutral Good: Favorite musicals include Come From Away, Bandstand, and Merrily We Roll Along. Organizes the cast party and director’s gift. Will give you a ride home from rehearsal. Buys bobby pins in bulk. True triple threat, or close to it. Knows their classics and their Shakespeare. Is able to step in for absent cast members without making it about them. Always looks sharp in rehearsal while still being professional. Kind to accompanists. Very appreciative of Sondheim. Wants to be on Broadway more than they want to breathe. Doesn’t force their voice out of its range. Most likely to feel totally directionless without a show.
Chaotic Good: Favorite musicals include Newsies, Cabaret, and The Producers. Gets into trouble with the director for talking, but means well. Lots of energy. Either a crazy good dancer or can’t dance to save their life. Eats in costume, but knows how to do so expertly and never stains anything. Completely capable of doing three performances in a day. Either never sleeps or can sleep anywhere at any time. Forgets to wash their stage makeup off. Loves talking to kids in character after the show. Knows Shakespeare and is adamant that every Shakespearean character is gay. Most likely to fall in love with their stage romance partner.
Lawful Neutral: Favorite musicals include Mamma Mia, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Mary Poppins. Always on time. Usually one of the first ones off book. Likely to be dance captain. Lowkey the director’s favorite. On the quiet side. Brings a book to read backstage. Has never missed an entrance. Has a healthy appreciation for older Broadway. Would never willingly be part of a flash mob. Actually owns jazz pants and a rehearsal skirt. Always carries hairspray and gel. Will shush you for talking backstage. Most likely to be chronically stressed.
True Neutral: Favorite musicals include Frozen, Anastasia, Into the Woods, Lion King, and anything Andrew Lloyd Webber. Dream roles are Seymour, Evan Hansen, Anastasia, Wednesday Adams, or any Hamilton character. Highlights their script, but only in one color. Owns broadway posters. Would die for Jeremy Jordan. Can dance, but can’t tap. Wears leggings and tee shirts to rehearsal. Has a hydroflask or similar insulated waterbottle with stickers on it. Isn’t sure how they feel about bootlegs. Has watched Smash. Most likely to wear leg warmers.
Chaotic Neutral: Favorite musicals include Great Comet, Beetlejuice, and anything Team Starkid. Doesn’t sleep. Like ever. Friends with the Stage Manager/tech crew. Routinely almost late to rehearsal. Wears through their dance shoes. Most likely to break a prop on accident. Loud. Has a couple of signature tricks that they’re always doing backstage (flips, handstands, etc.) Would wear a feather boa unironically. Doodles in their scripts and music. Most likely to create a cursed backstage ritual.
Lawful Evil: Favorite musicals include Miss Saigon, Avenue Q, and Sweeney Todd. Doesn’t mark up their scripts. Keeps all their notes in a seperate notebook filled with stickies and tabs. How. They have their full color headshot attached to the front of their binder. They think they’re intimidating in the audition room, but are mostly just annoying. They will judge you for your audition piece no matter what it is. They own LaDucas. Their water bottle matches their hair accessories which match their shoes which match their -- Most likely to judge you.
Neutral Evil: Favorite musicals include Be More Chill, Heathers, and maybe Mean Girls, but like. Very aggressively. Definitely in the theatre “fandom.” If they’re in high school, being a High School Theatre Kid is part of their identity. Would participate in a flash mob. Breaks their vocal rest constantly. Ships the absolute WORST possible broadway characters (think Hamilton/anyone based on a real person) or actually ships actors. If they’re out of high school, they still lowkey dress like a high schooler. Most likely to crush on a skinny white male tenor.
Chaotic Evil: Favorite musicals are either incredibly basic or extremely obscure. Calls themself a “crackhead,” or a “bitch.” Excuses awful behavior with “haha sorry I’m just brutally honest I guess.” Lowkey entitled. Complains about the cast list. Writes on their scripts in pen. PEN. PEN. Refers to themself as a “musical theatre actor” and/or looks down on Shakespeare. Alternatively, looks down on anyone who doesn’t know a lot of Shakespeare. Runs a fanpage for a young male broadway star that gets WAY too personal (bonus points if it’s Ben Cook, Will Roland, Ben Platt, George Salazar, or Mike Faist.) Most likely to start drama.

preferences about beetlejuice? (the musical of course)
“Preferences” is a fun and specific way to phrase that, anon q:
And frankly I haven’t made up my mind yet! For one thing I’m kind of surprised I hadn’t seen the movie (disclaimer: still haven’t), in the same vein as Heathers it’s EXACTLY the kind of thing I would have gone bananas about at a certain age. Looking at the musical (well, what I’ve seen and mostly heard of it) it definitely strikes me as being for a younger audience, and I think that this is something that’s happening on Broadway in general right now. With the successes of Heathers, Dear Evan Hansen, and Be More Chill in particular, it’s no wonder we’re seeing a lot of stuff tailored for a tween-teen-YA audience.
That is to say, I don’t really feel like BJ is for me, lol. I don’t think it’s bad, but it’s definitely somewhat underwhelming just as far as music goes. There’s a lot of really catchy stuff in there, and seeing as MCR and old-school PATD and FOB are still big with the kids (…not to mention current hotness Billy Eilish, though I suppose she wasn’t that quite yet at the time of the shows inception) I’d honestly expected it to veer more into the punk side of pop-punk.
There’s some interesting stuff in BJ, for sure, I just wish they’d gone further with it in terms of narrative and music/lyrics. A lot of what carries the show to me is Alex Brightman and the design of it all - which is absolutely brilliant - while there’s a lot of territory in the story left untouched by the songs. Like, dead mom, great, what do we have to actually say about this? Beetlejuice breaks the fourth wall a lot and I guess it’s in character but to me it doesn’t really feel all that narratively warranted so it’s not as satisfying as it is when it happens in, say, Great Comet.
I don’t think it’s bad, at all actually, it’s a very competently put together musical. I love Brightmans performance, I think the tunes are catchy as hell (my roomie listened to it once and sang the whole soundtrack for like a week), set and costumes are BALLER. I just don’t find that that really makes up for having what is to me a pretty weak core and I think it lacks a LOT in the sincerity department. Fine tuning the pacing for some quieter moments without irony would do a lot. Kind of in the same way I feel about Book of Mormon, but I guess that as with BOM it’s a great night at the theatre (which, I definitely enjoyed seeing BOM live).
Again, I haven’t seen the movie.
Also! It’s very interesting to me in terms of the role it is functionally playing on Broadway, what with beeing booted from its theatre and as a representative of WB trying to get a slice of the Broadway pie. But that’s a whole other discussion I’m not really equipped to have.
