Hey red, what's your opinion on some modern writing that's very lamp shady? And do you have any advice on how to avoid "Well that just happened" dialogue?
It's an interesting question!
The thing is, lampshading exists for a reason, but it's not the reason it gets used a lot of the time. Writers might lampshade a narrative choice they're insecure about, while characters lampshade because the things they go through in a typical story are kind of bonkers, and we might expect them to notice. If a character signs on for a simple mercenary expedition and ends up discovering they're the long-lost prince of a kingdom they've never heard of, that's weird and they probably feel weird about it. If an ally is determined to 1v1 their super overpowered nemesis with no help from their friends, those friends might have opinions about how dumb that is.
This is a form of lampshading that doesn't break immersion because it's entirely in-character and doesn't lean on the fourth wall. There's a difference between a character noticing how weird their life is and a character pointing out how cliched a recent experience was. In the latter case, the character is treating their life like a story, and while it IS a story, they shouldn't know that.
There's a spectrum here, with "complete sincerity and taking every turn of the plot at face value" defining the 0-point and "complete self-aware uninvestment" at the far end, but healthy levels of lampshading live somewhere in the middle. Characters at the 0-point accepting everything that happens without question can feel just as weird as characters that won't stop pointing out the TVTropes entry they're currently living. It's about what it makes sense for the character to find disruptive or noteworthy. A hardened badass probably won't see the need to point out how bonkers a recent fight scene was, but a newcomer to the Cool Bombastic Adventure scene might be really excited when they pull off a cool special move and want to point it out.
I think this is why the recent D&D movie worked for a lot of people, because while the main characters all lampshade their lives to varying degrees, the way they do so makes sense for all of them. Edgin is a bard and storyteller so he has a slightly meta perspective on a lot of things, purposefully avoids playing along with certain narrative conventions and sometimes responds to other people's dialogue by critiquing their dialogue instead of just responding normally; Holga doesn't really care to understand how the world works and so keeps pointing out that they should just use magic to solve their problems, which is probably the most popular lampshade in the whole genre; Doric and Simon don't get a ton of time to shine character-wise, but they'll both occasionally poke holes in the pretense of the story they're in. The thing that makes this all work is Xenk, who plays absolutely every moment completely 100% straight and is entirely immersed in the objectively ridiculous setting of D&D. Same goes for most of the villains, except for Forge, who's probably the wackiest and most self-aware character in the entire movie, but in a way that makes him feel callous and disregarding of the people around him, like he's uninvested in the world not because he knows he's a fictional character but because he has too much money and power to care about anything. The ways each character does or does not lampshade their surroundings make sense for who they are as people and reinforce their characterization and place in the world instead of undermining it.
I recently watched a couple episodes of Stargate Atlantis and noticed something similar - the main character and, to a lesser extent, the rest of his associates from Earth have a tendency to make wry observations about his objectively bizarre life and the eccentricities of the people around him, which helps contrast against the extremely serious and businesslike Cool Space Warriors they keep accumulating, which helps make them feel (a) distinct from each other and (b) relatable considering all the weird stuff that happens. And the protagonist switches off the quips as soon as things start looking perilous for his team, so you never get the impression that they aren't invested in the story they're living, and as a result the various quips and lampshades come across more as a habit or a coping mechanism than a disruption to the narrative itself.
So basically I think you can get away with a lot of lampshades as long as the character doesn't feel like they know they're in a story.

please i would like to know more knitting headcanons if you have them. i love the most wholesome cozy headcanons out there
this got SO away from me, I'm so sorry, it started as "here is some needlework-related headcanon" and then I just lost my entire mind and it turned into "here are Scenarios about characters doing crafts". I…wasn't kidding about dedicating large amounts of time thinking about characters making things out of yarn.
it's not quite a fanfic but, uhhh, take it about as seriously as you take my comics, I guess. :') we're all just having fun here!
the closest Grim has gotten to knitting is the time he ate half a skein of yarn because it "looked spicy". (that was not a fun day for Yuu or the Ramshackle bathroom.) the ghosts, meanwhile, have canonically have made clothes for Yuu and Grim and, honestly, they're probably their own little knitting club (and Yuu's self-appointed eccentric granduncles). you know they're loving having an actual person to play dress-up make things for. we shall be well-prepared for any more impromptu Tsunotarou snowstorms.
Riddle, Trey, and Jamil all know the basics of sewing, but don't do any needling beyond mending/darning/general upkeep. they're all annoyingly practical. (Najma is also annoyingly practical, but she's more fashion-forward about it than Jamil. she's probably really into visible mending.)
Ruggie and Epel probably do know how to knit, in addition to those basics, but to them it's more of a utilitarian thing (need a new warm hat for the winter!) than something they do for fun. on that note, I think Epel wouldn't really have a complex about knitting -- partly because it IS a practical skill to have for those Harveston winters, and partly because he would have learned from Marja, and no one would dare imply Marja is anything less than absolutely badass.
meanwhile Ruggie is over here gleefully unravelling Leona's old sweaters so he can make himself a cashmere hat. it'sfreeyarn.jpg
Jack crochets little cozies and accessories for his cactus. he makes seasonal and holiday-themed versions with cute little sewn-on buttons and, you know what, now I need to draw event outfits for a cactus. hold on.
Deuce's mom definitely knits. he might've learned the basics from her when he was little, but never used them until recently, when he's been trying to pick it back up in order to make her a gift. (there's probably a heartwarming story in there about a special scarf or something that she made him that he's trying to replicate for her.) he's been at it for literally months now because he keeps screwing up his math and Riddle has to help him fix it.
Ace doesn't do any needlecraft, and razzed Deuce about it for a while until he found out the reason he was so Determined is because it's for his mom (and also the heartwarming story about the special scarf or whatever). so then he felt kind of guilty, and since he'd rather die than admit it, resolved to just never mention it again. except Deuce is so hilariously inept that not making fun of him is really, really hard. so Ace is just sitting there having a personal crisis every time Deuce whips out his needles and adorable little yarn basket. his life is so difficult. :(
Cater bought an amigurumi kit once when they were The Thing on Magicam. he made a few hedgehogs, took pictures, then gave them away to his friends and hasn't thought about them since. (Riddle was so moved by the gift that he forgot to yell at the first-years for a whole day. his hedgehog has a place of honor on his desk.)
Leona has never touched a needle in his life, and would be insulted if you implied he might enjoy expending a small amount of energy over anything he doesn't have to.
Kalim has touched a needle, once, when he tried to help mend something. he was so atrocious at it that Jamil forbade him from ever touching one again. if he started knitting it would probably give Jamil heart problems.
Azul strikes me as being someone who always has to be doing something. but he also doesn't like the inefficiency of spending so much time and effort without much return (personal satisfaction doesn't count). so I think he doesn't really do any crafting outside of whatever's necessary for whatever bit he's running at the moment…though maybe there's a tasteful stitched sampler or two hanging on a wall in Mostro. just because.
Jade is a little more crafty (ho ho, puns) outside of Schemes. by which I mean he exclusively makes mushroom-related decor and insists on hanging it up in Mostro. (Azul keeps asking him to stop. Jade pretends not to hear.)
Floyd once knit most of a densely-cabled fisherman's sweater in half a day. he got within 200 stitches of finishing before he got bored and never got back to it.
Vil probably, like…spent a week making a pair of cute mitts or something, and was really proud of them! then Neige made the mistake of getting super excited and trying to bond over it, and inadvertently soured Vil on knitting forever.
Rook I genuinely believe is both capable of doing everything, and also actively involved in using those skills at any given time. he could make an offhand remark about how he's been needlefelting tiny petals to stitch together into an elaborate rose-themed bodysuit and I would just be like "yep, that tracks."
he could also mention that he just put the finishing touches on the statue of Neige made out of hair that he keeps in the Hey Arnold-style shrine in his closet, and I would still be like "yep, that tracks".
I don't think Idia knits, but he might have bit of theoretical interest in it because of the relationship between knitting and binary? he probably spent a while trying to figure out if he could somehow make a playable version of Doom on a sweater. (it's magic, so yes. he doesn't want to actually have to make the sweater though.)
Ortho once made a hat and some mittens for Idia. it might be cold when they finally go to the park. :)
Malleus has a tapestry that's been his quick breather project for the last 400 years. he was vexed when he ran out of a color that hasn't been produced since the plant the dye came from went extinct a century ago. >:( the new flosses just aren't the same.
Sebek has tried embroidery in order to feel closer to ~wakasama~ but he doesn't have the patience for it. he's trying, though! his daisies are barely lazy at all these days! (he would probably actually be really good at knitting, since a lot of it is just…following instructions and doing math. since his main point of reference right now is Lilia, he hasn't figured this out.)
Lilia knits poorly and with much gusto. gauge? never heard of her. tension? this is supposed to be a relaxing hobby! it's unclear if he knows how bad he is, or if he's deliberately trying to see how embarrassing he can get before the others stop wearing the things he makes them. (they never will.) either way, he's having fun!
Silver was a self-sufficient little homestead boy by the time he was twelve, so of course he knows all the fun things you can do with wool (fortunately he learned how to knit before Lilia had a chance to ruin him) (idk, a friendly squirrel taught him or something, he's a literal disney princess his life is like that). he has a unique talent for being able to sit there asleep and somehow still spin perfectly consistent yarn.
look, I just want Silver to use a spinning wheel, c'mon
Neige and Silver both make tiny sweaters for orphaned baby animals. Neige's are more skilled (they have colorwork and little seed buttons) but Silver's are softer, since they're made from the wool that his forest bunny friends gather for him and donate to the cause. (Ace heard him mention this once and had to go have another personal crisis over it.)
this also ties into another absolutely unfounded headcanon I have about Silver and Neige being friends with the same bluebird family that alternates island sides for breakfast and dinner. there isn't any more to it, I just think it'd be cute. 🐦
orphan baby animals aside, Neige absolutely 1000% knits and you'll never convince me otherwise. he made that sweater. he made Snick's scarf. if you spend too long around him he'll have already started making you a cardigan in your favorite color. the dwarves don't knit because they don't have to. (wait, no, Timmy probably does -- you never actually see him do it, but every once in a while there's a new aggressively cute potholder added to the collection. Toby has tried, but he is physically incapable of not dropping stitches everywhere and ending up with a sad little pile of yarn.)
Che'nya says he does yarn sculpture, but really he's just batting the yarn balls around and leaving them for someone else to clean up.
Rollo does enormous cross-stitch recreations of illuminated manuscripts on 60-count linen (over one, of course). he will lecture you for two hours on how much he does not enjoy doing it and how that makes him better than you.
Mickey doesn't (I SAID EVERYONE). I'm sure his girlfriend knits though.
Crowley enters stitching competitions at the local fair. his depictions of handsome-looking ravens in top hats do better than you'd think, but he still keeps losing to goddamn Ambrose with his perfect backs and railroaded stitches and no hoop marks and…
resisting the urge to say that Crewel does crewel. failing.
…okay, but look, he does fashion design in canon, it MAKES SENSE --
Trein is a Good Cat Owner, so (after carefully researching durable and pet-safe materials) he crochets little mice with catnip inside. he gets a deep sense of satisfaction at seeing them get torn to shreds. :)
Sam doesn't partake himself, but he does have weirdly intricate knowledge of every potential needlecrafting technique and the associated tools -- which he just so happens to have in stock now!
like Rook, I do believe that Sam just…knows everything, through his "friends" or otherwise. he could start spouting details about the historic production of goldwork thread, and as long as he then offers to sell something to us while shouting gratuitous English, it would feel perfectly in-character.
you wouldn't think Vargas would be into crafting, but he did spend a week painstakingly painting antlers onto a hoodie for his deer cosplay. magic? pah! he didn't get these muscles by NOT smearing craft-store fabric paint everywhere BY HAND.
(this is also why Crewel agreed to wear the…thing…that Vargas made for his turn at being camp monster. he actually spent time and effort on it and the whole idea was giving Crewel his own personal crisis.)
this got so far away from me, I am so, so sorry

Dipping back to my old fandom kinda made me want to bring back/redesign another, very old (I'm talking 10 years) character that was loosely inspired by Grimmjow back then. Also bcuz I need more lesbian ships, and she (Reina) used to have a fun one with her GF.
Unfortunately the said GF belonged to my friend, and that character has no up-to-date design. She also has no time to really make one, so I just decided to utilize another (recently) scrapped character of mine to design her a new one, while keeping some aspects of that old dynamic I loved. Like Reina being a silly, annoying goof towards her GF lol
There's going to be at least one more decade old character involved with this group, that I want to bring back because of how much I still love his design lol
Generally speaking, I should probably just think of my characters as small groups with their own dynamics, rather than constantly think of the big picture, as that gets too overwhelming too quickly....
Fun facts about the two below:
The bow in Irina's cardigan serves as the top button as well, and sometimes she wears it with only that button closed.
She can transform her umbrella into a blade or a whip, and use it as a shield or float with it. or just to smack when her kitty is being mischievous
she has a yellow sleeveless top and black leggings under her cardigan and boots.
Reina is from a special werecat family that are also known as Stormbringers, as each member has an elemental power somehow connecting to storms. Reina's is wind element
Irina was adopted by a Winter Warlock (whose patron is Jack Frost) called Marcus Vasile, when she was a toddler. She was abandoned there by her family who didn't know what to do with her magic powers
Marcus is a Romanian noble, or has noble heritage to be exact, though he's mostly seen as an eccentric rich hermit, or was before he got himself a daughter.
Reina is close with her older brother whose element is lightning; they bicker and fight a lot, but make for a badass fighter team once they work together.
Same can be said about Reina and Irina, although they don't actually physically fight, just bicker a lot.

Badass as in Xie Lian showing how strong and capable he is. Incredible swordsman with inhuman strength and unwavering determination. Man is so cool. He’s the strongest martial art god and deserves a chance to shine.
Hmmmmm. It’s not that I disagree it’s really just an issue of I don’t write a lot of fighting…. *insert animal crossing character thinking*
Hualian spar with each other in Fragrance Added by Red Sleeves and If you love me for me but that doesn’t really sound like what you want…
I’ve written XL carrying his husband in a few, hard to remember all of them at this point but I feel like that’s probably too minor for what you want anyways…. Usually it’s like a chapter within my multichapters (it happens in fragrance I know).
I personally think Bloodlust is a huge power play on XL’s part but that’s him using HC as a weapon so probably not what you’re looking for? And What’s a king to an eccentric? is very polite fuck you energy but again probably not… what you want…
Oh maybe Devour me with love where XL is a monster trying to eat HC? Not quite what you were looking for but??? Or HC drooling over XL at the gym in Act Casual?????
That’s all I’ve got… I do think he’s really cool I just don’t write a lot combat for either of them….

3, 12, and 14 for choose violence ask
😬
Well, this is a bit awkward. I actually didn’t reblog that specific ask post. I’ll still answer for you, though!
3. A screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on Tumblr.
Hmmm…I certainly have seen a few. One that definitely sticks out to me, though, is someone saying that DuckTales 2017 “ruined” Donald’s family tree. Don’t remember all the details, but it was, in essence, purism towards the comics and bemoaning the finale twist. On one hand, I kinda see what they’re saying, but on the other, to quote Matt Damon, “No offense, Tammy, but drink my blood.”
12. The unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them.
That’s actually kinda tough. I don’t know how unpopular we’re talking here, so I’ll give two on this.
First one: she’s not necessarily unpopular, but she isn’t always given her proper dues. The sentiment isn’t only on me, so that kinda does elevate her to ensemble dark horse status, or popularly unpopular, but I’ll argue for her, anyway: Violet Sabrewing.
More people should like/pay notice to Violet because there’s more to her than meets the eye. She’s one of those characters that’s super easy to misread or generalize, and that’s a shame, because she’s way more than just “the stoic nerd”. She’s clever, daring, eclectic, loyal, and badass. Violet doesn’t automatically come across with over-the-top characterization, so she kinda has to have more attention paid to her in episodes where she has a bigger role in order to be better understood. Just to take note of those little details in her characterization and her interactions with others.
Plus, her design is just super aesthetically pleasing.
Now, the other one: he doesn’t have as many fan works surrounding him, and he didn’t have a lot of big moments in the show, so this is probably a straighter example of “unpopular” than Violet. He’s just a super interesting character if you really think about it: Fethry Duck.
He had, what, maybe 1-2 episodes where he played a big role, and that’s it. Which is rather unfortunate, because Fethry is a great character! He had a very unique route taken with him in the show: being a marine biologist at the underwater labs, usually not having anyone else besides the creatures he works with for company.
His eccentricities make him misunderstood by those around him, but he keeps a positive attitude about him. He’s just super used to his circumstances, and he does what he does really well. Plus, I just think The Depths of Cousin Fethry! is a super good representation of what it’s like to be autistic.
So, yeah, that’s why I think more people should like both Violet and Fethry.
14. That one thing you see in fics all the time.
Della being chaotic or awkward as all hell. She deserves to act silly and do stuff where she doesn’t care what others think.

Want one? Here be the rules 🦋🌈
𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬)

𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏
𝑰 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑺𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒖𝒔 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌! You guys are two sides of the same coin. With your abandonment issues, protectiveness, the fact you love dogs so much, you really remind me of him. But he projects his insecurities differently then you do. He’s much more broody and a tad arrogant. He’s also extremely stubborn. But I think you can lighten his mood whenever he gets like that.
𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔
・His nicknames for you are ‘darling,’ ‘sweetheart,’ ‘love.’
・Likes to sit on the floor in between your legs while you’re on the couch. Sometimes you massage his scalp and he becomes putty in your hands. Whenever you do that, you can usually get him to do anything you want.
・Sirius teased you a lot throughout your years at Hogwarts, it was light-hearted and banter filled. But he hit a nerve in third year and from then you ‘despised’ him.
・However, your hatred turned into passion. And your back and forth turned from insults to tensioned filled teasing in your fifth year. From then on, everyone could see the sexual tension between you two.
・It wasn’t until an incident with a group of Slytherins in your sixth year that Sirius knew he was in love with you. When he heard what they did, he went ape sh*t and basically dragged them to filth...

𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆
Initially Distant, turned to Mutual Yearning
𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖
You’re just as loyal and protective as he is. Sirius loves that he can trust you utterly and completely. That was something he was hesitant about - being in a relationship with someone, he needs to be able to completely lower his walls. And he wasn’t able to do that, until you.
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅
Remus Lupin. I think you would have Remus’ back (even though the Marauders already have it). You would be like a sister to him. Someone he can sit down and read next to. You don’t have to be high-energy with him, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have fun. You’re both very witty and eccentric when you want to be.
𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆
A mix between George Weasley, Sirius Black and Ginny Weasley. I think you’re a badass who knows yourself and knows how to have fun. You don’t care how others perceive you. I also think you’re emotionally intelligent and mature, but without being a stick in the mud.
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒕
A long-haired black cat that practically adopted you. She was a year and a half old, living on the Hogwarts grounds and everyone thought she belonged to someone. But she didn’t ... until you were outside one day, sitting on the grass underneath a tree. She trotted over to you and wouldn’t leave you alone.

𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏
𝑰 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑵𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒆𝒏! (apparently Once Upon A Time has the Princess and the Frog characters, so what a win! I still ship you with cartoon Naveen though). You two would make a great pair because he knows how to woo you, how to sweep you off your feet and put a smile on your face. It’s what you deserve.
𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔
・You bonded over music and his love for instruments. He has made so many impromptu songs about you.
・Naveen is all smiles and laughter until someone makes you uncomfortable and then he can become very intimidating.
・Buys you really expensive gifts (he’s a fricken prince). You have jewellery with every type of stone (ruby, dimaond, sapphire etc)
・Likes to run up behind you and sweep you off your feet. He’s much much taller than you are and likes to use it to his advantage
・His love language is definitely physical touch and words of affirmation. He loves hearing how much you love him. It literally makes his day. Naveen also likes to plant kisses everywhere on your face
𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒏𝒈
Your Hands Are Cold by Dario Marianelli
𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔
・Excited ALL. THE. TIME. (Naveen) X Oh God I Cannot Be Falling In Love With This Dipshit (You)
・Confident Flirt (Naveen) x Expert At Not Taking The Hint (You)
・The Gomez & Morticia Adams
𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆
It's Always Been You
𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖
Your big heart and sarcasm. You can give as well as take. You would have so much banter with Naveen, and he would absolutely love it. There would be so much laughter in your relationship, so much joy.
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅
Rapunzel! Oh my god, you two would cause so much chaos. You’d love showing her the world but also protect her against people, places and things that may cause her harm. I think you would also be really good friends with Belle. You’d love visiting her castle and spending hours in her library.
𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆
I think you’re a mix of Ana, Jasmine and Merida. Loving/caring, chaotic, strong in what you believe, protective and kind. You’re someone that people love having around. You have a strong sense of autonomy and have to live life how you want to live it.
𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒕
Your family was known for your magical abilities to bond with animals. Each person was born with a birthmark that is the shape of their future bond. You were born with a bear birthmark on your arm.
When you were twelve, you awoke one night to a large grizzly bear scratching an itch right outside your window. When you approached him, he looked at you and huffed. He was twice the size of you but turned out to be an absolute puppy dog. He loves scratches and snuggling up next to you.

3 x 06: Book Club
Tumblr media
The reunions. Passing of batons. Coming full circle. Hitting all the right emotional notes.
I think the show does its best when it’s character-driven. (I love the cast. Such great chemistry. I already miss them arrrgh.)
I love that it’s motherly love manifesting in different ways.
The Mother, literally - the protective yet unfathomable sentience
Alder & her army - She’s not without faults, but she shouldered the burdens of the lives and deaths of her witches for centuries
Petra & Abigail - Petra learning to see Abigail for who she is, not just as her successor or a Bellweather. Also, learning to love who Abigail loves.
May & Tally - each wanting to care for the other the best way she knows how and the cathartic plate-smashing & heart-to-heart talk.
Willa & Raelle - Willa protecting Raelle in any way possible, dying for her and even transcending death
Izadora & Penelope - the eccentric, obsessive necro teacher and her mysterious-shapeshifter-charge
Alder & Izadora - Alder reassuring Izadora when she wants to follow her leader/ mother figure into her beloved mycelium. The request is somehow so Izadora. “Apparently, death isn’t what it used to be.” 🤣 the scientist in Izadora taking in weird phenomena like a champ, esp. after Penelope.
Honorable mentions: Quinn & Scylla and Edwin & Scylla - the found family
I love the emotional reunion of Willa with her family
Edwin. Oh my heart. Him breaking down. His quiet understanding. No blaming. Only wanting to see her again. Always internalizing his grief and worries for his wife and daughter. Silently supporting them.
Quinn. Willa responding to her old comrade-in-arms and dear friend
Scylla. United by their shared mission and love for Raelle. Scylla’s deep yearning to be with Raelle, no matter how.
I love the passing of batons and the next generation now taking over as protectors
Alder boosting the cadets’ morale, truly passing the baton to Petra - this time with real mutual understanding and respect, setting aside their personal differences and egos - each has her role in the war
Scylla taking Edwin home to safety (their conversations 🥺 )
Tally returning home to take care of her mum (Tally: book club?! 😳)
Abigail and Adil chaperoning the weakened Alder back to Fort Salem (Abigail: this is no longer a witches' place 😭)
I love the quiet strength and defiance of May & her friends - and their clandestine meeting with all the requisite bells and whistles
Strategically obeying the pompous guard to avoid trouble and attention while secretly plotting a mission - also a subversive twist on Silver’s words about the collars - the witches giving the guards a false sense of control of the situation
Such image of “just moms in the suburbs, holding book club meetings and serving brownies in tupperwares” - usually what men would use derogatorily on women, is now fully owned by said women, who turned it into a perfect cover for their badass mission
Offer some brownies and burn down some buildings like it’s just a normal day for them
The bigoted and misogynistic guards still don’t know what hit them. I imagine the witches giggling in secret.
I love Petra letting the obnoxious man yak away, thinking he has power over her (in keeping with the “book club” theme)
meanwhile she basically tells them secretly on their Witch FM: girls, listen to me and ignore his BS

gently reminiscing on my star wars AU I had for my nonentity OCs prior to nonentity existing in 2017. no I wasn't a particularly big star wars fan. but if you ever want to know my strange familiarity with star wars eu trivia or weaponry this is where it comes from. anyways going to show my old 2017 fullbody designs under the cut, if you're familiar with my nonentity ocs they should actually be pretty recognizable
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think R and Siarra were the first, Siarra conceptualized first (never finished the drawing's face maybe?) but R actually drawn first. R kept the concept of being a thief/smuggler, I think I ended up turning the horses that elementary-school-me gave her into ship AIs? because high school me (and current me) knows that horses are not the way. anyways still has her robot arm and you can actually see all the discreet explosives I think I took exactly from wookiepedia. think she also had a vibroknife and a dark green lightsaber that she stole despite not being a force user (adjacent to this, her husband Matthew was a force user who largely concealed his ability but could use force lightning). oh shit actually I just found weapon notes from back then okay we're posting those now instead of my clumsy recollection

Siarra was uhhhhh. okay Siarra's backstory had changed a lot since her original one because her original one was um. yikes bc I came up with it as a child. so basically the AU continued the premise that she was a sole survivor of an attack against her people which in this AU was her alien species. she was a badass unaligned warrior criminal with a white lightsaber and flamethrowers who used the dark side of the force without being a sith. this was pre-mandalorian so despite the mandalorian armor that doesn't really come with any lore baggage. real drake stans (ie: largely my irl friends) will know original Siarra had a skinned wolf hat which got turned into a cape here
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now Cathryn and Faye! where it gets a little fuzzy bc there's a lot of stuff that logically makes sense to me as a story translation but I can't actually attest to whether I intended it back when I made the AU. so like Cathryn's dad was a force ghost bc it's just. a staple of her character that her dad is a ghost. but like I don't know the order of events there (with it typically being he's a ghost like. years and years before she's born). this was the time of morally gray and conflicted cathryn so she was a smuggler and she WAS a force user but I can't recall light or dark (even with dark she'd have acted with good intentions). current Cathryn only has chains for weapons but original Cathryn had a huge crescent moon-shaped blade at the end of her chain (curved outwards like a C, affixed to chain in middle), which in the AU was translated as the following
Tumblr media
Faye. ok idk if I've shown nonentity Faye but she looks pretty much the same so it's okay. very much an eccentric (crypto/xeno)bio/zoologist in all incarnations who's scarily competent and unafraid of all the weird stuff that comes her way while being all smiley and in awe of it. so not much different in the AU but you can actually see some erased notes about her gear which I explained here
Tumblr media
those are the only ones I have notes on but there's some other art I made too. not a lot. I think I drew more weaponry at one point too
anyways! that's my reminiscing for now. this is why so many sci fi weapons and tropes live in my head. also it's funny how long I was so bad at drawing legs. progress still questionable at times

Well so... did you like Arcane? Favorite character, moment, etc? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Anon. Oh sweet anon I'm so very sorry you asked this (no im not >:))
Anyway, I loved Arcane. I'd just kind of...decided not to watch it for a few months now, so I missed a lot of the hype when it first came out. (Which, I'm pretty sure will be around 11-ish months while writing this. So uhm. It's been a little bit.) I'm not quite sure why, it's just kind of hard for my brain sometimes, even when my friends really like a piece of media and recommend it to me.
I was actually going on a quick trip, and needed entertainment, so I frantically texted one of my closest friends and boom!!! She recommended I watched Arcane! So finally a downloaded the fourth episode (blaming my phone's funky storage on this one) and watched Happy Progress Day in a good bit of confusion before going back and watching the first three when I got home.
So! Some thoughts: (Spoilers for anyone who's thinking about watching Arcane. It's really good and I truly recommend it, but you will be seriously spoiled if you read any further. You've been warned.)
Favorite Character: Oh!! That's so very hard because I don't think there's a character's writing that I specifically dislike! I enjoy how each and every character is so incredibly interwoven into the plot. However, I think I'm going to have to narrow it down to 3.
First is: Jinx!
Everyone and their mother I feel like has made art about Jinx, and also talked about her, from what little I've seen of the fandom. But goddamn does she deserve it.
She's so incredibly fucked up, but the narrative really makes you understand her actions and why they happen. It almost makes you root for her in a way. The way that her backstory is set up, from start to end is simply incredible.
Each and every path that she faces is another nail in the coffin for what she used to be. Her narrative arc is one of corruption, and her struggle with mental illness is one that is so compelling that whenever the show switches to her POV, I can't help but fist pump and also whisper a horrified "No" at the same time.
Because she's descending into a path of madness driven on by some serious abandonment, a rough life from the get-go, and the urge to convince someone that she's worth the trouble. She's worth it so please please please don't let her go. Don't leave her.
It's such a heartbreaking cycle that truly gets into my emotions and makes me feel. I'm obsessed with the way that the narrative does not throw her away like many of the characters coinciding with her arc are portrayed as doing, but also the way that it balances out her tragic past elements with some absolute badass scenes with such dope action and visuals that the screen she's on is only slightly tinged with sadness.
I wish I could put it into better words, but Jinx is simply off-the-walls in a way that is so unnervingly fun, but also devastating to watch as she scrambles to keep the people she loves close when she feels them drift away.
2. Heimerdinger
You don't understand my love for this eccentric ex-councillor. If I could go out and get lunch with any of these characters it'd be him. I want him to sloppily write all of his ideas on a napkin that I try to decipher for hours, only to fall back onto my bed in defeat.
I want to hear him talk about issues he think are important, and what he finds to be integral to his life. I would literally listen to this dude talk for hours and hours upon end, and watch with childlike wonder at his glorious inventions.
He's literally soooooooo amazing and I love him. I love the way that he was first introduced too!! He's just a goofball who really doesn't try to be funny. And omg when he's wandering the streets and shows the girl the top?? When he finds Ekko???
You literally cannot fathom how wiggily this man makes me feel.
Also I think it's something about his history.
He's seen dangerous devices before. He's seen the rise and the fall of entire planets and populations. He's built a city from the ground up, only upon the idea of progress and the scientific method. He wishes for those around him to let their curiosity take hold and lead them to projects and places all around them.
He truly wishes that everyone has the chance to be a scientist, and he's such an oxymoron. He's a scientist who gets stuck in the ways of his past, and it's a battle that he fights throughout all of his screen-time during the show.
I love Heimerdinger so much <33
Also have you seen his mustache?
Tumblr media
[ID: Heimerdinger looking just off to the right, his face contorted in anger with his two fists on a table that reaches up to his waist. END ID]
And finally, last but not least:
Caitlyn Kiramman
This one isn't as rooted in narrative drive as it is for how amazingly Caitlyn fits into the show as a main character simply through her dynamics with other characters alone.
I'm head over heels for her friendship with Jayce. I love the scene that they share in Happy Progress Day, I'm over the moon with the fact that for her investigation she lets Vi go, only to grow to love her as their narrative throws shit at them that they have to face together.
I love that through Caitlyn, we get to see the soft side of Vi come back, the protectivness, the love, and the bickering that comes with it is absolutely a delight. I swear the two of them could have a spin-off Nancy Drew-esc story and I would read it.
And the way that Jinx sees her as a threat? The way that when she sees Vi finding love and being able to cope with her trauma by moving forward, she thinks that there is only one place at Vi's side. That she thinks that Vi is betraying her?
You don't understand. I'm going feral.
I also think that Caitlyn's ambition to do what she loves no matter who tells her otherwise is simply proven wrong. For the girl will be an enforcer, she knows that she will. No one can stop her.
Also she and Vi may or may not be in love and I simply think that that is absolutely a relationship that I need in my life as sapphic (?) myself.
(Honorable mentions go to Viktor and Mel. You both deserve the world and I adore them to bits.)
My favorite things about the show:
Dude. Dude this show is so incredible writing-wise. It tells a compelling story, grappling with so many issues at once and somehow managing to do it all in a clear way. The representation is at it's peak, because these characters are not gay for extra points, they are not black to check off a box. They are deeply thought out characters with narrative arcs that bounce off their traits. They are not simply marketing ploys and it's refreshing. (godDAMN my standards are low)
Anyway the storytelling capabilities that this show pulls off with the dynamic characters bouncing off one another, a seamless timeskip, lore that pulls me in and fascinates me as a consumer, and themes that pique my interest makes it one of my favorite shows of all time.
The art style too. Gah!! I'm in love with the way that the characters' designs work, the way that the lighting is handled in different scenes, the painting look that the models take. It's such an amazing and most likely time-consuming animation style, but it turned into one of the most gorgeous-looking shows that I've ever seen.
And dude. dude. The. The the the. The soundtrack. The incredibly differing soundtrack that varies from song to song, depending on the mood that the show is trying to capture is OUGh. Snakes, Enemy? Such bops, would sprint to them anytime, 11/10.
Favorite scene?
*shaking uncontrollably* The fucking ending one. The last scene takes into account all of the factors that make Arcane such a special show as a whole, and it wraps 'em up in this nice little present for the show to end off on.
The way that Silco is killed like any other man, the way that betrayal bleeds into his eyes as he dies, acceptance in his words as Jinx cradles his head in her hands, apologizing profusely for what she's done.
The narrative parallel to the line "She's a loose canon" so much earlier in the show is a stab to the heart as you watch the light fade from his eyes.
The way that What Could Have Been plays hauntingly through the entire scene, the viewer's eyes dreading the way that it's about to end. And the way that the characters' expressions twist in different ways as the final missile blows into the council window, the way that Mel's figure is highlighted before it's hit.
There are many scenes that are incredible, but this one might be my up at one of my favorites of all time.
To get even more specific, the way that Caitlyn's slow motion sob turns into her mother's resigned face as she makes her vote--that part literally broke me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think that literally might be my favorite shot in the entire show.
Anyway, to summarize my incredibly long post of thoughts, Arcane is a cinematic masterpiece, and I wish I could go into more detail, but it's like 12am and my brain isn't really up to the task. Thank you so much for the ask, needless to say, I loved the show to bits <33

The Mosley Review: Jurassic World: Dominion
Tumblr media
Do you remember the first time you saw Jurassic Park? I do. It was full of wonderment, terror, adventure and morality. The many themes that were explored in that film was truly astounding and the reason why it stands the test of time. The dinosaurs were amazing to witness as the blend of practical and digital technology was state of the art and brought dinosaurs to back to life. It was about them and the people that would try and escape those creatures. Now fast forward past the sequels to 2015 where dinosaurs are back in another theme park. Jurassic World opened a new avenue that had so much potential and also really highlighted the stupidity of the smartest people in these films. It was a fun ride don't get me wrong, but if it had stopped there then I think this franchise would've been saved from the absolute travesty Fallen Kingdom was and the abysmal finale this film was. I loved seeing the dinosaurs again and hearing the warm Jurassic Park and Jurassic World themes return, but sadly this film forgot to include the one part of the story that everyone cares about: the dinosaurs. These films have always had an environmental protection and evolutionary plotline consistently carry through, but now it takes the forefront. The amount of retreading the same plotlines, lack of tension and straight up espionage was tiresome and downright boring. Character development is almost completely out the window and its sad to say because there are some actually great performances that are bogged down by this mess of a film.
Tumblr media
Chris Pratt returns as Owen Grady and he is straight up a superhero at this point. He doesn't really go anywhere new as a character, but it was fun to watch him do almost all the action in the film. Bryce Dallas Howard was good in the film as Claire Dearing and her chemistry with Owen is still intact. They're a great pair and do well together, but they spend most of the film apart.  Isabella Sermon returns as Maisie Lockwood and she does well portraying the rebellious teen. She does double duty in the film and really shows some of range as an up and coming actress. DeWanda Wise was awesome as the pilot Kayla Watts. She handled herself so well in all of her scenes and she even stole the spotlight from the main cast. BD Wong returns as Dr. Henry Wu and you truly see the sadness that he carries from the destructive nature of his work. I loved that he finally learned from his mistakes and was trying to make things right after 4 films. Campbell Scott portrays the returning character from Jurassic Park, Dr. Lewis Dodgson, CEO of Biosyn Genetics. He was good as always and I liked that the character was eccentric and awkward at times. He was definitely the weakest villain of the entire franchise though. Laura Dern returns as Dr. Ellie Sattler and she was as radiant and badass as you remember her to be. Sam Neill dawns the iconic fedora again as Dr. Allen Grant and he hasn't skipped a beat. He is still his grumpy self, but is always up for an adventure. The chemistry between Ellie and Allen was the standout of the film and I loved that there is a flame still burning between them. The loveable Jeff Goldblum is back in black as Dr. Ian Malcolm and he is still the chaos theory loving hero we know and love. Seeing the three of them together again was magical and they all get their moments to shine.
Tumblr media
The score by Michael Giachinno is thunderous and pulse pounding in the best way as this was the most action heavy of all Jurassic films. He excelled in delivering new, tension filled and emotional themes when the film called for them. Like I said before, these films used to be about so much more than just cheesy dialogue and ridiculous action, but now this film showed that the main focus was completely lost after Jurassic Park. Jurassic World at least took the idea from Park and ran with it. There were globe trotting elements of the film that I liked and the action was sometimes cool, but it became a boring and predictable action film that didn't need the dinosaurs in the long run. I'm not really spoiling anything, but the last 30 minutes of the film is exactly the same as the first Jurassic World and sloppily done I might add. I'm just glad that this franchise is now what it should’ve been after the first Jurassic World, extinct. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

STMPD Recommends Bubblegum Crisis Fanfiction: Innpchan's Dance of Armor
While browsing my copy of the licensed Bubblegum Crisis RPG, I realized that this guy's name is a reference to 'the pig' or rather, P-Chan from Ranma 1/2. (Ranma was the hot shit in anime fanfic writing for most of 90's, but you knew that already.) Not that this fact detracts from the quality of Innpchan's Bubblegum Crisis fanfiction.
No, it most certainly does not.
In sum: this is a fanfiction about Linna Yamazaki, her past, her present as a Saber (sort of like what I covered in Night Life but infinitely less cynical), and her somewhat downer future. It is a character study, a Boomer-fightin' adventure, and everything else you could possibly want from a novella-length (???) fanfiction.
So! Linna Yamazaki. The great non-personality of Bubblegum Crisis. Nene gets Scoop Chase all to herself, but in Double Vision, the closest thing Linna gets to her own episode, she's playing second fiddle to the guest star Reika, doing the protagonistic 'do not pursue revenge leave that to us' spiel. One almost gets most of her personality from the Survival Shot dinner in OVA 4, and her boyfriend troubles in OVA 5: she goes through boyfriends fast, she's looking for 'the one', and she wants to make scads of money while doing it - or is that more an adaptation of who she is from BGCrash? Hard to say.
Well, there is a character down there, I'm sure of it. I keep trying to write little script-bits in my free time, one where the Sabers and Sylvie talk and talk, but I can never quite get her right. Vain, bitchy, but still a good person... how to do something like that without a heart-of-gold cliche? I still haven't listened to the audio dramas, and I wonder if they have something to offer there.
Anyway. Here's a fic about Linna. Back on topic.
Innpchan starts by telling us about Linna's past - how she lost her parents during the Quake, how she started to model during a disaster-porn fashion photoshoot, how she worked her way up through performing, modelling, dancing (I think they kinda drew on a blurb from Grand Mal here, but I don't care) - before losing an audition for Sailor Moon the musical (you were born to be Sailor Mars, her mentor says, because Linna and Rei Hino share a voice actor). It's charming, it's kind of cutesy, it is essentially creating reasons for why the way Linna is from whole cloth, but that's what fanfiction is about, and it's done remarkably well.
But that's not all, as the author alternates us between that and Linna's daily life. She picks up Priss and her costumes from her show (they stink up the back seat), she goes home to her nice apartment, she fights Boomers that now have weird stealth abilities with the other Sabers - and lo and behold, an old childhood friend from before the Quake walks back into her life. She's smitten, of course - after boyfriends who, in her opinion, can't keep up, can't hold things together, it's time for a sea change...
And then a Boomer starts targeting the boy, and she gets him out of the way, only breaking her leg and arm in the process.
Well, why is Seito Sakai in Megatokyo? What secret does he have to address? How can Linna keep him safe if she can't even get in a hardsuit? These are the questions that occupy the latter part of the fic. Linna aside - she has some truly badass moments in this one - the answers to those questions are also pretty cool.
Does it end on a downer? Sure. But is it a downer that's not too much of a downer, and also one that feels earned? Fuck yes. The point I'm trying to make is that we see Linna at her best here. Not vain or horny, but genuinely, authentically in love, something none of the other Sabers can ever quite pull off. Someone - normal.
Maybe that's Linna's magic: she's not quite normal, but she's closer to normal than a revengeaholic second-string rockstar, a turbo-eccentric millionaire with a taste for exotic lingerie, and an exciteable hacker could ever be.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, we get lines from Priss like this:
"This guy. I looked over at you when you were talking in the car. Your eyes were full of a country house and two-point-five rugrats."
"Oh, GREAT! We're up against Genom's latest and greatest, and the tech-wench wants to glue her mom's camcorder to my hardsuit!"
Not bitchy or rageful, but kind of deadpan snarky. I like Priss like that.
Also-also, fun fact: One of the major characters in Gibson's trilogy of cyberpunk-adjacent work he wrote in the 1990's is a Japanese ethnographer by the name of Laney Yamazaki. Yeah. Laney.
It really makes you wonder if Gibson, despite his self-professed hate for the genre he created, actually watched BGC. Now there's a strange thought, eh?

Okay I was thinking about how the other charathers that Arent the great Seven would react to the NRC students in the house of mouse AU. Like i can Imagine Azul asking Ariel if She wants ti make a deal with him and Ariel Is like "lol no", or the First year see Cruella de vil at One of the tables and they are like "She look so much like Crewel that She's giving us PTSD" or kalim and Aladdin becoming buddies :D.
Well, let me put in some headcannons then:
Word goes around that some of the Great Disney villains come to visit Yuu and everyone gets jealous.
So now whenever Yuu goes to work they always get asked to have them visit their world.
So, Yuu just says, “Meh ok, you guys can visit me whenever just ask one of the Great Seven or go through the mirror in my dressing room-“
And suddenly Yuu gets someone they met from the House of Mouse ever other day. It’s literal chaos and Yuu doesn’t know if they should feel exasperated or flattered.
Anyways, here’s some interactions between the dorms and some Disney Characters:
Heartslybul: Obviously when Alice comes to visit, she comments on how Heartslybul reminds her of the Queen of Hearts’ garden. When Yuu mentions that they paint the roses red, Alice sarcastically asks, “Does the dorm leader behead people who don’t paint the roses?” “...Well, he’s more lenient now but...” “...You’re serious?”
Ace and Alice get along swimmingly, basically quick quips and a lot of teasing. Yuu regrets introducing them to each other because they know the two are going to get into some sort of trouble. Deuce also gets along with Alice, though he can get lost in Alice’s rambles in imagination.
I think Alice would get along with Trey and Cater. I mean, they both give big brother vibes (Trey more than Cater). Trey would give Alice some tarts and Alice is like, “....He’s cool.”
Cater is going to take a bunch of pictures, and Alice is very curious about the device he’s holding (I don’t think phones or the internet existed during Alice’s time so...). Cater ends up teaching Alice about the internet and phones.
Riddle...ohhh noo. Once Alice broke one of the 810 rules and Riddle lightly scolded her for it. Alice thinks most of the rules are ridiculous and while Riddle has toned down on being strict, he’ll quickly get annoyed with Alice questioning the rules. There’s rules for a reason! The dorm was founded on these rules!!
Savannaclaw: It’s Simba, obviously. He’s curious to see the dorm after his...nefarious uncle. It’s much more nicer than he expected, though he’s a little off put by the dorm’s...rowdiness.
But he’s impressed with the Magishift practices they have when Yuu showed them.
He likes Jack, right off the bat. Jack has this sense of justice that he can relate to. I think they would get along pretty well. Oh, and probably how strong and buff Jack is.
Simba is wary of Ruggie, due to him being a hyena beastmen. He has...bad memories of hyenas. His wariness is correct, since Ruggie has tried to swindle Simba and Yuu to do some of his work. Does the relationship get better? Only if Yuu makes them hang out with each other haha.
Leona reminds Simba of Scar...to a certain degree. Lazy, cunning, and has this look where it seems like he could be planning something nefarious...
Ok, maybe not that bad, but Simba is weary of Leona. He kind of expected a character similar to Scar since this is the dorm based on him but...still. It’s really odd. It’s kind of rocky, but if Cheka comes over to visit, well...it could get better.
I mean, Leona does find Cheka annoying and calls him a brat but...Simba can tell there’s no malicious desire towards Cheka, which raises Leona’s “evil people don’t interact” list. That doesn’t mean Leona’s in the clear, but he’s ok.
Octavinelle: Surprise, surprise, it’s Ariel! She comes over, human legs and all. (Don’t worry! She got them from the nicer sorcerers). She wanted to visit Yuu and see how great NRC was! They had fun, and then they went to Mostro Lounge.
Ariel is terrified of the Tweels. They give her this...off putting feeling and they’re very intimidating. She does not trust them at all. She does like how they get up close and how they speak as if she’s some poor soul waiting to be taken advantage over.
That’s also why she does not trust Azul at all. He reminds Ariel of Ursula - especially when he tries making a contract with her. Uh-uh, no way. Never again.
This leads to Ariel dubbing NRC a dangerous place for Yuu to stay at. Why doesn’t Yuu come live with her and her family back at her world? Surely it’s much more safer than here! Why, Melody already sees Yuu as a big sibling so why not just stay at the castle permanently?
Ursula fumes at the thought of her enemy trying to take Yuu away and become their parent. That’s her role, dammit!
Scarabia: Kalim invites Aladdin, actually. It’s the most funniest scenario. Yuu mentioned to Kalim about the street rat that wooed the princess and Kalim says, “:00 WE SHOULD INVITE HIM!!” Jamil sighs and facepalms.
It’s actually going great! Aladdin is kind of shocked at the big party that Kalim threw, but it was a great welcome. He’s shook that Kalim apparently trusted Aladdin enough to show him the treasury room. “It’s open for all of the dorm to use! I don’t need much of it!”
Wasn’t NRC rumored to be a villain’s school??? What is this ball of sunshine doing here???
Actually, the Scarabia duo are good in his eyes. Sure, a little rough around the edges with Kalim being a bit too naive and Jamil being more of a watching snake, but they’re better than what he expected. Aladdin gets along with them pretty well!
And then they go on a carpet ride when Kalim introduces Aladdin to his magic flying carpet.
Yuu and Jamil scream at the two of them to get down as they fly across the night sky.
Pomfiore: oh no. Oh no no no. Snow White visiting Pomfiore is like...Neige visiting.
Vil is cold to Snow White, and she knows why. She’s seen the images that Yuu had of this “Neige Leblanc”. He certainly reminds her of her younger days. Which is why she completely understands why Vil is so standoffish of her.
What she doesn’t expect is Rook singing her praises and also kind of...watching her. It’s low key creepy but Yuu says it’s normal and since he doesn’t mean any harm Snow White lets it slide. They do have a good conversation though. Snow White learns to understand Rook’s...eccentric hobbies.
Epel and Snow White go together like apples and oranges. They go pretty well together, but they have contrasting differences. They could be passed of as siblings with their cute looks, as much as Epel hates to admit it. Though I’d like to think they have this “Soft big sister with a gremlin of a little brother” dynamic. Or “Big sister that is harmless but has a badass little bother” dynamic. Just...a cool sibling dynamic, basically.
Ignihyde: Hercules comes by when he hears that a dorm was based off of Hades. He had to see what it was like. He expected the doom and gloom, but he didn’t expect all the technology.
He and Ortho go along swimmingly. I mean, he’s pretty chill around the more upbeat and cheery dorm member, at least. (Seriously, the others were such buzzkills). He also gets a good impression on Idia when Ortho affectionately talks about his big brother! Wow, so the kids here do have a heart! Unlike Hades-
Ok, so as much as Ortho talks so highly of Idia, Hercules does not see how Ortho does. I mean, Idia is a complete shut in and gloomy recluse! Why do you stick around him?! It isn’t until he speaks his mind about that comment does Ortho turn into a crazy murder machine. (“How DARE you speak of that about my brother!!”) Yuu has to save Hercules and the entire dorm before Ortho blows up the school.
So now Hercules sees how inseparable the two are and how much they care for each other, which yeah, that’s pretty cool. (Is also low key jealous, how come his half brothers weren’t like that?)
Diasomnia: Aurora visits with Maleficent. Both do not share ill will after their stories are completed. They actually do make amends. So Maleficent invited Aurora to see her grandson, and Aurora politely accepts.
They have tea with Malleus, and it is a very pleasant conversation. Aurora gets along well with Malleus, even suggesting maybe she should invite him and Maleficent to her kingdom one day. (Maybe when she gives birth to a beautiful baby. Maleficent liked that)
Lilia is also a fun one to be around! Aurora was so surprised by his scare that she had laughed. Ah, what a funny fae! Why, she hadn’t laughed this hard since...well, never. She likes Lilia and will come by if she needs a good laugh.
Poor Sebek though....he acts all uptight around Aurora because she’s a Queen and also aquatinted with Maleficent...he must be respectful to her at all costs! It takes a long time for Sebek to at least act a little casual around her. Maleficent says it’ll take some time, though Aurora isn’t sure if that time will come on her lifetime...but for the meantime, she is still happy to be around Sebek’s presence and have pleasant conversations with him.
Aurora and Silver...ok, let me say this: they got along during a sleepover. The Diasomnia gang + Maleficent and Aurora had a sleepover in the dorms to “better know each other”. I also think Aurora would feel sympathy for Silver if the conversation of him tending to fall asleep came up. Heavens knows she still has her sleepy spells even after her curse was broken.
Also- wofhenod I just imagine Aurora and Silver walking in the forest together and a bunch of animals surround them. (Yuu finds them and cries when they actually attracted a bunch of adorable puppies (or whatever animal you find cute). Cute, adorable animals that are so gentle with them that they start to cry due to stress from being at NRC (Silver and Aurora look at Yuu with concern and gently start comforting them)
Winfendien Suddenly I want a twin dynamic with Silver and Aurora. Even a sibling dynamic would be cool. Just two sleepy siblings that won’t hesitate to kick your ass.

Hi! I absolutely love when people ask about ur characters fashion sense and I haven't seen one about Toxicology so, how would u describe Y/N and Damian's fashion sense?
Also, would u say their music taste is like the playlist you made for the series? Or did they clash with different tastes in music?
Sorry, I'm all about these details 😅
You know I fucking love these asks.
Toxicology – Masterlist
I have a bit of a verbal explanation of Damian's style: HERE.
I also showed what his clothes looked like with the League: HERE.
For Y/N's fashion style, it's very eccentric and just a little bit out there. Think crazy prints, Tokyo street style, or Iris Apfel. She doesn't really care what's "trendy." However, she's so herself and unique with her stuff, that she ends up looking cool anyway. And she's so all over the place, that her outfit could from from bimbo badass to prude farmer within the same week. And before her attack at the bar, she had absolutely no issue with showing a lot of skin. But she doesn't get comfortable doing that again until she creates her own antidote – and even then, it takes awhile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
--------
For Damian's style, it's really like a capsule wardrobe. And it is super minimalistic. He is extremely consistent, with little experimenting. He loves black, white, and grey. Damian doesn't care about being trendy or cool. But he does care about quality and elegance. Don't get me wrong: Damian literally always looks good. But it's infuriatingly effortless on his part.
Tumblr media
--------
One time (after Of Age) Y/N noticed that people tended to give them weird looks. Then she looked down at her outfit and then Damian's: they looked like they were from different planets.
"Damian?" Y/N asked shyly as the two of them walked through the grocery store.
"Yes, beloved?" He was concentrated on the food in front of him, always a stickler for buying the best ingredients – especially when it was him cooking.
"Do you..." Y/N cleared her throat. "Do you ever get embarrassed by the clothes I wear?"
That got his attention.
Damian immediately looked away from the food and met her eyes, trying to figure out if she was messing with him or not.
"What?" He asked in utter confusion.
"You know...like...I don't always dress...I guess...normal? I mean, look at me!"
Damian did as he was told and looked at her. A subtle smile started forming on his lips as he did so.
"Neither of us is normal," he told her.
"But you dress normal," she tried to argue.
"No," he countered. "I dress boring. You dress exactly how you feel – and that's what I love about it." Then he went back to looking at his foods. "Plus, it's easier to find you in crowded places," he mumbled.
But Y/N heard it.
She giggled and quickly kissed his cheek in thanks.
Damian wasn't fond of public displays of affection. But Y/N could tell by his smirk that he didn't mind that one.

4. A character you rarely talk about?
there's a million billion!!! let's go with kristoph, whom i have tagged a few times and never explained. i played them in a long-lost game of Worlds in Peril, a superhero ttrpg, and because they're so so special their powers are not only their excellent tinkering skills and—i just remembered they have an artfight page so i'm gonna paste their blurb here.
A roboticist/toymaker, eccentric, deadpan, and incredibly proud of their harmless delightful mechanical creations. Their co-worker Dr Steelfuse became so increasingly frustrated by how dismissive they were of his actually effective, terrifying inventions that he kidnapped them and turned them into a cybernetically enhanced zombie to demonstrate his prowess firsthand. They cannot feel pain, nor are they hindered by blood loss or organ damage. Steelfuse also augmented their spine and limbs to give them heightened reflexes. Detached body parts can be controlled remotely. Highlights of their in-game engineering skills include ambulatory gnomes, hacking a private jet's sound system to prevent it from blasting ska 24/7, and a pest-control bot designed to crawl around shoveling cockroaches into its terrible maw.
"Unfortunately, I am not here in my capacity as a god of modern robotics but as a common thug. To, aha, lend a hand."
"Oh, these? No, I am not a prosthetist. I make little things that walk about and look charming. These are the work of Doctor Steelfuse. I don't know why he thought they were necessary; I was just as good at making toy robots when I was alive. I offered to tutor him but that was about when he started screaming and shutting down my organs."
Fun fact: the worst thing my habit of blurting out portmanteaus has ever produced was accidentally naming the aforementioned pest control contraption "Cockro-bot".
10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design?
hmmmmm ooh okay im gonna debut Baby right here right now! keep the robits going! Baby (no pronouns) is my warforged in the works, who i am planning to make a mystic because i have deliberately never tried one before but i think would work here because Baby craves POWER. and naturally, as a warforged, Baby's design does not come easily to me but i really like how it turned out. there are a lot of emotions bouncing around inside that badass chassis, and lacking the ability to produce facial expressions or much vocal tone, Baby uses some very passionate language to make up for it, and also really enjoys self-decoration with accessories and removable paints.
Tumblr media
ID: a sketch of a broad warforged with very spiky limbs and shoulders, a curved neck, and a flat vaguely skull-like face with a yellow glow behind the eyes. to the left is a bar marking the warforged's height as 7 feet. yellow handwriting in top right says "Baby!" with a heart dotting the exclamation point. end ID
49. Which one of your OCs would most likely enjoy memes?
dammit okay you know cassidy is the only one who is capable of canonically enjoying them, AND that they have middling taste in them. but in the interest of being creative i also think ásmundr would be really really good at proper absurdist memes. declan is the most likely to enjoy memes other people made.

Non-Controversial Loki Headcanons for These Trying Times
1.) Loki has had dozens of Midgard-based aliases over the years, for no other reason than the fact that he was bored and it was funny. DB Cooper was one of them. Hank Williams was another. He may or may not have even pretended to be a vampire at some point.
2.) Loki can definitely sing. Not just in a funny ironic way, but like.. he actually enjoys singing. It shouldn’t even come as a surprise considering he’s such a fine arts nerd, but yeah. He plays the guitar too. Surprisingly folksy.
3.) Loki’s rooms in Asgard literally look like a witch’s lair. I mean straight up spooky. All dark earth tones, spellbooks strewn everywhere, runes drawn on the walls to keep certain big brothers from messing with things they have no business messing with, vials of poisonous stuff sitting on every available surface, shelves full of strange little trinkets and talismans, a dramatic ass medieval-looking bed, a whole ass cauldron… and then in the corner on a stand there’s his Hank Williams Guitar aasdfghhjkl-
4.) When people call Loki a witch, they’re not joking. He’s. Like. An actual stereotypical, like.. witch. He doesn’t just do finger wavy magic- he mixes potions, he does rune work, he recites spells, he has a cauldron.
5.) He also used to dress super witchy. Used to. Past tense. I’m talking black nail polish, lots of necklaces, rings, eyes makeup (ok maybe I wouldn’t go that far, but Loki in eyeliner would be pretty hot, right?), clothes that were like.. 15% scarier yet more fashionable than the ones he wears in canon. The only reason he toned it down was because someone whose opinion he cared about (it was Thor) made a joking comment about his appearance looking “wicked” or “evil” and it made him feel self conscious, so he changed how he dressed. :(
6.) He was rocking the whole short hair look years before Thor in Ragnarok. In fact, by pre-canon Loki’s standards, his hair in Thor 1 was even a bit too long. He did this because a.) he hates how his natural curls soften him and will do anything to get rid of them and b.) in Asgard short hair wasn’t really worn by noblemen because it symbolised servitude, so this was Loki’s subtle way of being defiant and deviating from the norm.
7.) As Frigga said in Endgame, Loki is very good at sneaking. Even when he’s not trying to. There have been many-an-accident in the Palace of Asgard because he unintentionally almost gave Thor a heart attack.
8.) Loki and Thor weren’t always at each other’s throats. They actually got along pretty well up until Odin started planning for the coronation. Loki was still jealous of the way Thor was treated compared to the way he was treated, but he knew that wasn’t Thor’s fault- not really. And Thor was still arrogant and entitled, but that was mostly directed at other people and not his own family, so while Loki knew about Thor’s character flaws, it didn’t really effect him personally. When the planning started, though, Thor gradually became even more superior and insufferable than normal, and Loki became even more bitter and unsettled, and their relationship just kind of went downhill from there.
9.) Loki absolutely joined the Mile High Club with that flight attendant from the first episode of the show. Her name was Florence and she was adorable, Loki thought so too.
10.) Loki’s the only person on Asgard who can beat Volstagg at an eating competition. He has a giant’s metabolism, after all. And, contrary to his elegant and refined tastes in most other areas, he’s actually a straight-up carnivore. I mean he eats other foods too, obviously, but meats are by far his favourites. Boar, fish, poultry, steak. Just meats. He doesn’t know it, but this is because frost giants are mostly carnivorous.
11.) His relationship with the Warriors 4 was always split down the middle. He and Sif always hated each other. Hogun never trusted him and Loki never had any interest in spending time with Hogun. Fandral and Volstagg, on the other hand, were always much nicer and Loki always sort of considered them his friends as well as Thor’s. This is why they were more reluctant to believe that he’d let the frost giants in in Thor 1.
12.) I refuse to believe Loki doesn’t have at least one tattoo somewhere. Probably more. Probably of a snake. The only parts of his body we didn’t see naked in Episode 1 were his thighs, lower back, knee area, pelvic region, and the back of his neck. So it’s gotta be in one of those places. (Might I suggest: snake thigh tattoo, tiny nape tat, goth tramp stamp lol, rune tat behind his ear, Norse mythos leg tat, badass above-dick tattoo).
13.) Loki’s prickly and insecure and has layers like an onion, but once you get to the point of actually being friends with him, he’s a total sweetheart. I mean a literal smol dork. A bit hyperactive and excitable, but still very very soft. It’s because he’s had so few actual friends in his life.
14.) Sometimes Loki only goes a few days before his gender changes, sometimes he stays one gender for years at a time. And he tends to shapeshift his body to match. That being said, one of his biggest pet peeves is how his other-gendered clothes get all dusty and musty when they have to stay in the closet for long stretches of time. So he’s taken to wearing luxurious gowns around the house when he’s in his male form. You know, just to air them out.
15.) Loki hates sleeping with people. Sex is fine, but he’s just so solitary and paranoid that he’s never been comfortable sleeping in a bed with another person. This may or may not have gotten him in trouble a few times when his partners woke up and found him gone lol.
16.) Laufey is actually incredibly similar to Loki, the way Odin is very similar to Thor. He prefers smaller blades (ice daggers), he’s very analytical and calculating, he’s very calm and non-confrontational even when he’s in a stressful situation, and tbh he seems like a better king than Odin- much like Loki probably would’ve been a better kind than Thor. (Whoopsie this one’s a bit controversial)
17.) Loki adores animals! …But he’s also a bit obsessive about keeping his environment clean. Not organised, per se, just clean. And animals tend to be hairy and slobbery and feathery and slimy and poopy and dirty, so he’s never been able to have a pet. He just takes a lot of nature walks to compensate :)
18.) All jotuns are naturally intersex, including Loki. This is a bit unusual for Asgardians, but because Loki is genderfluid and a natural-born shapeshifter- and has always had a tendency to change his body parts around as his gender changes (male, female, both, neither)- he’s never had a reason to find it very odd. In hindsight, that was one of the many eccentricities that should have made him realise something was a little fishy with his “asgardian” genetics.
19.) The snake + stabbing story from Ragnarok was nowhere near as nefarious as Thor made it seem. What actually happened was: Someone accidentally mixed a real knife in with the blunted practice knives. Thor and Loki didn’t know this, of course, and when they were playing a battle game, Loki ended up with the real knife. When Loki “won” and went to “vanquish his enemy” he ended up actually stabbing Thor for real. They were both hysterical and it took longer to calm Loki down than his brother. It ended up just being a flesh wound, though, so everything turned out fine.
20.) A lot of people think Loki discovered his “secret passageways between worlds” from TDW through some sort of inter-realm questing or magical study or something, but in reality, he discovered them when he was like 16 and desperately trying to find a way to sneak out of Asgard without Heimdall telling his parents.
Tagging @natures-marvel & @little-s-creampuff for expressing interest. Thx for listening to my mad ravings lmao <3
