Oh, for that AU thing. Cinder goes to Atlas Academy AU
send me a potential AU and I’ll tell you five fun facts that would happen in a story
- in getting her official registration/identification/etc., Cinder takes Rhodes as her surname, with her mentor’s blessing
Rhodes, internally: ...eh why not, what’s the worst that could happen
- after excelling in the entrance exam, she is placed on a team with Winter, Harriet, and May
still not sure how to make a team name out of that: WRHM (Warm), maybe?
SRBM feels like I should be able to get some color from it but I can’t figure out what
Team SCHM (Schism) because they eventually split down the middle
- Cinder gets along with Harriet and May (better than she’s ever gotten along with any of her peers, actually, but that’s not saying much), but while she and Winter eventually learn to be in sync in battle, the best her relationship with her partner ever gets is “complicated”
Cinder’s issues with the Atlas elite are still fresh, despite how hard she tries to bury them for the sake of Making This Work, and Winter is just about as Atlas Elite ™ as it gets
Winter, for her part, is puzzled but doesn’t think too hard about it: she’s used to being resented for her name by people she’s never met
- Winter, Harriet, and May don’t really know what to make of Cinder at first: she’s obviously happy, maybe overly so, but at the same time she’s prickly and defensive and never relaxes, always keeps her neck covered, is cagey about the details of her life pre-Academy, and says things in her sleep that range from weird to horrifying. the fact that she’s the only Mistrali attending Atlas Academy also sticks out like a sore thumb.
then this happens, Cinder has to spill her whole story, and suddenly they’re just, “ohhh, everything about you makes sense now”
then five seconds later when it really sinks in: “...oh. oh, that’s so fucked up.”
Cinder is still determinedly repressing her Whole Feelings about her abuse (trying to follow Rhodes’ example of “okay, this is bad, but it’s not That Bad, not enough that anything should actually be done about it”)
Winter is more than happy to do the same: it’s unfortunate what happened to Cinder, but it’s not indicative of Atlas as a whole, and anyway the important thing is that Cinder made the right choice and put in the work to escape to the Academy, which has earned her Winter’s respect
Harriet is...deeply disturbed, but what is she going to do, throw away the career she’s worked her whole life for just because she’s upset? they’re powerless now, but when they’re Huntresses, they’ll be able to fix all of Atlas’ problems from the inside
and May is now speedrunning her turn on Atlas. like...this is an obvious legal loophole to allow trafficking and slavery. there’s a market for disguised shock collars. why is everybody pretending our kingdom doesn’t do shit like this all the time. we’re all still just going to use our training to protect this system, huh. hey, big guy, why can’t you look at us all of a sudden? Cinder was just a kid, you’re a Huntsman, are you really saying there’s nothing else you could have done?
- when they graduate and Winter and Harriet go into the military, Cinder follows May down to Mantle
she’s still hesitant at first, knowing that this is absolutely not what Rhodes got her into the Academy to do and balking at the idea of letting him down
fortunately, she only needs a bit of encouragement from her teammate:
May: Cinder you fucking moron this kingdom kept you as a literal slave for seven years, you don’t owe it a thing, now are you going to actually help people or just keep letting them suffer?
Cinder: ...yeah you’re right let’s go
before they leave, Cinder may or may not stealthily stop by the Glass Unicorn, discover that Madame replaced her almost immediately after she came of age and left, and rescue the new kid, but that’s a whole other plotline
they meet up with Robyn, Joanna, and Fiona, and join the Happy Huntresses together
it does not take long for Cinder to let go of any remaining hang-ups and take joy in Causing Problems On Purpose for Atlas, and to fully embrace the idea of being a Huntress as a responsibility to help people in need instead of just a get out of jail free card
Rhodes when he finds out his kid jumped ship to join a girl gang: ...oh fuck my life, she’s still going around with my last name

Interlude - POYW Rewrite Mini-series - Part 4 - Pickup
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
=
-two months after D2, just for context (August 2016)-
The isle masses waited in uneasy silence as they waited for the tell-tale sign of the barrier opening to let in the limo that would take the new six vks to Auradon, would King Ben keep his promise?
CJ gripped tightly onto Harriet's jacket, other hand clenched tightly around her bag as she stared anxiously at the barrier, waiting for her brother to come get her and Harriet off the isle like he promised to.
Harriet's crew stood protectively around the six vks, daring anyone to try to ruin their day. Dizzy grinned and looked back at her aunt and mother as the barrier shimmered, a black limo rolling closer into view as it passed through.
The car stopped a good ten feet in front of the vks and almost immediately Evie popped out from the back, eagerly calling Dizzy’s name as the younger vk squealed and bolted towards Evie. Dizzy slammed into Evie and the older teen held onto her tightly as they started to babble random things to each other. Jay, Gil, and Ben climbed out of the back with smiles and Ben gestured towards the trunk for the vks to put their bags into it.
CJ grinned as Harry climbed out from the passenger side in the front, her eyes blowing wide as you climbed out of the driver's seat. “Harry!” CJ yelled, laughing as Harry picked her up just as she was about to slam into him and spun her around. You and Harriet nodded at each other and Harriet moved towards the back to put her bags away, Mr. Smee stepping forward with his three sons and reassuring his youngest that they would be safe with his brother and pseudo siblings in Auradon.
Sammy shared a smile with Harry as he passed by him to put his and his brother's bags in the trunk, shifting his shoulder bag a bit as the twins continued to cling to their father.
Harry shared a look with Harriet and pushed CJ to get her bags into the trunk, moving towards the twins and kneeling in front of them. After a few soft-spoken words, the twins released Smee's arms and moved to clutch onto Harry, the older vk squeezing their hands and nodding at his pseudo uncle before moving the twins towards the Limo.
The twins stared up at you as Harry moved them past you, Skipper hiding his face in Harry’s leg as you gave a soft smile. You and Harry shared a look that only communicated ‘oh my fuckinggodthatssocute’ the twins were shuffled into the limo and all that was left to do was for Harriet to leave her last few commands to her crew and then the lot of you to get back in the limo and leave for Auradon.
Jay and Gil checked to make sure all the luggage was in the trunk before closing it and standing near the back doors, everyone was ready to leave.
Harriet walked towards her crew and gave a few words to Xiaohui, who was now appointed captain in Harriet's stead. The girl nodded and saluted Harriet, the rest of the crew following in suit.
Harriet let a smile break across her face and nodded back, she turned on her heel and walked back towards the limo, sliding into the back and sitting next to the twins.
You stopped Harry from getting into the front passenger seat and nodded towards the back “sit with the twins, I think they’ll be more comfortable with you, Harriet, and CJ all together with them.” Harry nodded and moved to the back to join his sisters and the twins. You stopped as Dizzy popped out of the limo and raced back towards the crowd, slamming into a smaller black girl with curly red Ombre hair, you spotted the man behind her and quickly deduced that she was the daughter of Dr.Facilier. Dizzy gave the girl a tight hug and said a few words before running back to the limo, you laughed to yourself a bit as the girl's face crumbled in embarrassment and turn to hide her face in her dad's side, Facilier laughing at his daughter and patting her back.
You slid into the driver's seat and called into the back “everyone ready?!” once everyone called back with either a “yes” or “uhuh!” you buckled your seat belt and started to drive out of the isle, smiling at the reflection of the isle people as they waved the villain kids goodbye.
The Smee twins pressed themselves against the glass as they watched the isle roll by them, their father getting further and further from sight. Harriet pushed them back into their seats, nodding towards the bridge you were driving at.
“Ready?” Harry asked, smiling as the twins gave a nervous nod and clinging to him and Harriet. Dizzy squealed and pressed her face to the window, Evie turning with her and biting her smiling lips as the limo passed through the barrier.
“oh, my, goooshh~!!!!!” Dizzy squealed again, giggling to herself as the magic bridge built itself and the limo coasted over the ocean. “it's happening, it's really happening~!!”
“it is” Evie sighed happily, laughing as Dizzy launched herself into Evie's arms for a hug “when we get there, you have to try ice cream” Dizzy pulled back with a wide grin.
“and go swimming!?”
Evie looked off to the side for a moment trying to think of a place before it came to her “I can take you to the enchanted lake!” the two girls squealed, making Harriet and the twins cover their ears for a moment before the two stopped.
Harry leaned forward and grabbed two peanut butter cups and handed them to the twins, Skipper staring at him unsure before Harry smiled at him “go on, yer not allergic ta chocolate or peanut so yer fine” the twins took a careful bite before they turned wide-eyed to Harriet, who chuckled and held her hand out as Harry handed her another cup. CJ attempted to climb out of her seat to get herself one but was stopped by her older siblings as they gave her a look and Harry handed her the candy. The twins downed the candy, dancing in their seats as they tasted it for the first time.
“so where’s Mal?” Dizzy asked, eagerly taking the small red twist candy Evie had handed her.
“she's taking mind medicine right now” Jay laughed, falling onto Gil slightly as Ben shoved him with a smile.
“she's at therapy, not something she's really allowed to miss, well she can but we didn’t really need her to come today so she just decided to go.” Dizzy nodded and turned back to Evie, the two girls delving into babbles of fashion, science, and ice cream.
“Mal….at therapy” Harriet stared off into space for a moment before she laughed “that’s a sentence or thing that I ever thought would happen” Harry heard you snort very loudly from the front and let out a loud giggle.
“aye, but she finally bit the bullet an’ accepted she’s fucked in the head an’ let us chuck ‘er in the office an’ the rest of us fukin’ bolted” Ben slapped his hand over his mouth and turned into his shoulder, closing his eyes and letting out a few muffled bits of laughter.
After a few moments of the limo laughing, it was silent, only to be broken by Gil “actually I think all of us need therapy considering the shit we’ve all gone through” the limo erupted into laughter, Ben almost slipping out of his seat as he held his chest.
The twins ignored them and continued to eat their candy, Sammy wiped away a tear and shook his head as he grabbed a handful of small multicolored candies “ahhhh yeah we’re all fucked up”
“I think the only non-fucked up person in this limo is Ben and (y/n)-“ Sammy was stopped by a small snort from Gil, Ben, Harry, and Harriet who looked at each other with wide teary eyes of stopped laugher “what?”
“sam-Sammy you were there remember?” Harriet chuckled, nodding towards the front of the limo where you were “the uh…incident?” Sammy's cheeks turned pink at the reminder.
“Ohh….okay yeah the only non-fucked up person in the limo is Ben” Ben pursed his lips and gave a slight shrug “oh come on what happened to you for you to be fucked up in the head?!”
Ben shrugged again “my parents pushed all their responsibility onto me when I was barely 16 and they never seem to trust me with anything even after they seemingly trusted me with an entire kingdom and judge me for everything that has to do with anything and my ex-girlfriend love spelled me for the wand and only just told me that last week~!” Ben gave a wide grin, while everyone else in the car stared at him with wide eyes.
“okay holy shit you win” Sammy stuttered and Harriet chuckled, Sammy sighing in relief as the car delved into laughter again. Jay let out a small sigh, leaning back in his seat and resting against Gil's shoulder slightly, he remembered the day, which was only last week,  when Mal had finally bit the bullet, and told Ben the real reason she had love spelled Ben, not because she had a crush on him, but because he was a stepping stone for the wand.
And he took it…surprisingly well, Carlos, Evie, and Jay had been there in moral support of both Ben and Mal and to apologize to Ben formally for helping Mal deceive him all those months ago.
It was a surprise to them but a “normal” reaction for Ben when he had just smiled, accepted their apology, and opened his arms for a hug. the four vks immediately went in for it, happy they didn’t lose the friend that made them realize they deserved love and safety.
The four vks still worked on being supportive of Ben and learning how to be better friends in an attempt to still make up for their wrongdoings to him, while Ben said it wasn’t necessary, the four still did so.
The only time they weren’t supportive was when Harry, Gil, or Jay (and sometimes Mal) dared Ben to do something that would probably kill him…like riding a skateboard off a roof into the deep end of a pool.
Jay blinked back into the present time and smiled as the Smee twins twisted around in their seats and gasped as Auradon’s shore came closer and closer, the golden bridge behind the limo de-materializing as it rolled onto Auradon soil.
“Welcome to Auradon” Ben hummed, smiling as the new vks gasped at the bright colors and the signs of life surrounding them, Harriet's eyes being locked onto the white and orange flowers the limo rolled by.
“it'll be another hour before we get back to the welcome area, so” you waved your hand in the view of the divider window “just figure out how to entertain yourselves” the limo chuckled a bit and delved into quiet conversation, the younger vks going back to the candy, with Harry and Evie keeping a close eye on them to make sure they didn’t eat too much.
-
The limo rolled to a stop in front of Auradon prep, the welcome party waving their flags and the band going crazy as the vks inside stared with wide eyes.
“it's not as crazy as last time, believe me” Harry chuckled, unbuckling his seat belt and moving towards the doors “there was like double the people and even louder music” Ben gave a sheepish smile at that, he might have gone a bit overboard with the original welcome party for the vks.
Harry stepped out first, holding the door open as Harriet and CJ climbed out after him. You joined Harry at his side after turning off the limo and wrapped your arm around his waist, grinning as CJ bounced over to your side and looked around wildly in excitement.
Gil and Jay helped the twins out of the car then went to get all the bags out of the trunk as two chauffeurs came to help, the twins clinging onto Harriet as they stared wide-eyed at the welcome crowd. Dizzy bounced on her heels as she grinned so wide it almost seemed that her cheeks were going to rip.
Ben stepped in front of the welcome crowd, waiting until the music stopped before flinging his arms wide open “welcome to Auradon! First things first, I want to say I wish to apologize for taking so long to get you here, but a formal apology can wait till later cuz I think we are all restless and just want to get moving, so on with the tour! The chauffeurs will take your bags to your rooms and you’ll have the next week to do whatever you want because school doesn’t start till the week after that! Let's go!”
Doug and Evie reunited and Dizzy trailed ahead of them, eyes wide with fascination and wonder as she took in the sight of the Auradon prep dorms.
The twins clung to Harriet's hands as they walked into the dorms, eyes widening as they saw the massive and lavishly decorated main foyer. Ben spun on his heel and threw his arms open again “so this is the dorm building, where those of you who will be attending Auradon prep will stay” Harriet raised her brow and looked down at the twins. “Auradon prep is a high school so the twins, unfortunately, won't be unable to attend until they are fourteen, but the middle school is connected to the high school so they’ll be staying here with everyone else, you’ll be living somewhere else though.” Harriet looked up at that.
“why meh?” she muttered, pursing her lips as Ben gave a sympathetic smile.
“well as you are over the age of 18, we’ve decided to have you attend one quarter here to start you off, then the rest of the first semester and the second semester in Auradon college. fully paid for by the way, none of it will be from your own pocket. then you’ll have full range to do whatever you wish in Auradon, whether it be a job or to continue in college.” Harriet pursed her lips again in thought, before nodded.
“sounds…reasonable” she muttered, smirking as CJ leaned on her shoulder, getting the attention of Ben.
“enough chit-chat, where’s our rooms?!” Ben smiled and shook his head, already expecting CJ’s impatience thanks to Harry's “warning” about it before they had gone to get the vks.
“Alright let's go, CJ, Dizzy, you two are rooming together” the two girls shared a look, CJ glancing away as Dizzy beamed at her. “Harriet you’ll be temporarily rooming with (y/n) until your housing is ready for you after your first quarter, and Sammy you’ll be rooming with the twins until we have the single room ready for you, it's still under refurbishment.”
The mentioned vks nodded a bit and followed Ben as he lead them to the upstairs dorms, where the girls stayed. You stepped in front of him and opened up a room with the number 221 on it.
Swinging it open, you motioned to CJ and Dizzy and nodded inside. The two girls stepped inside, CJ looking around wearily as Dizzy squealed and bounced on her heels.
Unlike Mal and Evie's room when they first arrived, it wasn’t decorated in pink and frills as it used to be. the walls were painted a light blue, and one side had a bed with an Ombre blue duvet with black and red sheets, the drapes a light silver. Next to the bed was a short and wide black dresser with silver handles, and a desk with a computer ready to use. The walls were covered in “pirate” décor, maps of the oceans, of neverland, a flag with skull and crossbones, a map of the world, and in the corner of the side of the room, was a painted ocean wave with a pirate ship just coasting atop of it. obviously, CJs side of the room.
The other side matched Dizzy, the bed was forest green with painted flowers decorating the duvet, shades of pink and green decorated pillows, and the drapes were paint-splattered. Next to the bed was a large dresser that was painted white and then splattered in paint, and a midsized desk covered in crafting items ready for Dizzy to use. Her side of the room was decorated with blank canvases ready for her use, finished paintings from you, Evie, and Mal, and hanging wall shelves completely filled with books ranging from geodes to art history.
“oh, my.GOOOOD!!” Dizzy screamed, running towards her bed and jumping onto it, twisting midair to land on her back “OH MY GOD ITS SO FLUFFY!!”
Evie covered her mouth to hide her huge grin as Dizzy cuddled into her bed, the younger teen looking up and inviting Evie to join her. Evie eagerly took the request and ran and jumped onto the bed next to Dizzy, who bounced as Evie landed.
Harry and Harriet smirked at each other as CJ stayed close to the doors, hesitant to enjoy her new room, she squeaked as Harry hoisted her into his arms and walked over to her bed “Harry put me down I swear to hades I’ll-“ she squeaked again as Harry tossed her onto the bed and laughed, CJ’s cheeks turning red as he just flopped on top of her to keep her on the bed “I SWEAR TO GOD ILL KILL YOU”
“do it then, no balls!” Harry cackled, yelping as CJ flipped him off of her and tackled him. “oh come on! Yeh can do better tha’n tha’!!” CJ growled again and attempted to get Harry into a headlock but he just slipped out of her grip and trapped her head with his hands, her arms suspended as they threaded through his arms. “gotcha~”
“Lemme go!” CJ screeched, which turned to a scream as Harry tossed her back onto her bed. She wiggled around a bit in an attempt to sit up and launch herself back at Harry but stopped midway “…” she let herself sink into the mattress, her ears turning pink as Harry and Harriet started to snicker at her “okay yeah this is comfortable”
Ben covered his smile with his hand and looked to Evie, who was busy giggling with Dizzy, and clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention “okay! That’s one out of three dorms! Let's continue, shall we? Then, lunchtime!” Gil gasped at the mention of lunch and started to pull Harry out of the room.
“Gil-dude-bro, okay im coming!” you laughed a bit as you watched Gil drag Harry back towards the stairs towards the twins and Sammy’s room. So food-driven that boy.
Doug, Evie, Jay, and Dizzy followed Ben as he walked out of the room and trailed after Harry and Gil. Harriet, CJ, the twins, and Sammy waited for you to start moving before they followed after Ben.
A few doors down from Jay and Carlos’ room, to which Jay unlocked and threw his jacket onto his bed since he was getting a bit too warm, was the smee boys' room. Ben unlocked it and let the boys inside, the twin's eyes going wide as they spotted the large twin-sized bunk bed with rustic painted dark oak wood and light blue sheets.
“woah!” they gasped, separating from Harriet and launching themselves at the bunk bed. “I call top!” Skipper yelled, kicking at Sterling as he pulled at Skipper's foot to prevent him from going up the ladder any further.
“no, I want top!”
Sammy ignored his squabbling brothers and walked over to his bed, sitting down on the soft sky-blue sheets that were balanced with red pillows. Sammy looked around with a small smile, the walls were painted with the colors of the sunrise, the bottom of the walls painted with curling waves. On the twin's side were wall bookshelves decorated with books and bottles with ships inside them, and on Sammy's side were maps and a tall bookshelf filled with books and random nick-nacks. Next to the twin's bed were two matching dressers painted white with blue drawers, one had Skipper's name painted in gold, the other with Sterling's name in gold.
Sammy looked to his right, nodding as he spotted a tall dresser painted a darker blue with his name painted in gold just above the first drawer.
“how do you like it?” Ben asked, his fingers spinning his class ring as the Smee boys looked at him. Sammy gave him a small smile and nod while the twins grinned and went back to fighting for the top bunk.
Harriet stepped next to Ben and gave him a look ‘I got this’ it said, she walked up to the twins and picked them up by their collars, both of them going limp as they looked up at Harriet.
“rock paper scissors, now” the twins glared at each other and immediately went at it “winner gets first pick, two outta three”
After a few moments of aggravated rock paper scissors, Sterling won out and raised his arms in victory “I win! Top bunk!” he scrambled up the ladder as Skipper pouted at him, crossing his arms.
“he won, get over it” Harriet snickered, patting Skippers back as he launched himself into the bottom bunk. “all right, im starving and I haven’t eaten breakfast, how bout we wrap up the dorm room tour and get food?” Gil pointed at Harriet and nodded.
“yes! Food, food sounds good!” Harriet snorted and rolled her eyes at Gil, the twins trailing after her as Ben turned on his heel and gestured down the hall.
“yes! Come on, last room!” the group of vks and two aks plus you traveled down the hall till you reached your room, which had been moved around a bit to make room for Harriet.
“Welcome to your temporary home” you smiled at her, swinging open your door and letting Harriet step inside, grinning as she let out a whistle. “like it?”
Harriet only nodded, moving further into the room and spinning on her heel to get a good look. Her eyes drifted to the king-sized bed that laid across from yours. The duvet was crimson with gold curling patterns with black sheets and pillows “you can take the sheets with you when you go for college if you want” Ben spoke up, stepping into the room a bit with a smile. Harriet looked at him and slowly nodded, walking over to her bed and pressing her hands into the sheets.
“soft” she muttered, sticking her hands in her pockets as Gil yelled from outside the room.
“food please!”
“Okay okay!” Ben laughed, biting his lip as he heard Evie, Harry, Jay, and Doug snicker at the food-driven vk “let's go get lunch”
The group cheered and made their way to the cafeteria, Dizzy squealing as she spotted Mal sitting at one of the tables “Mal!!” Mal looked up from her turkey sandwich, a grin spreading on her face as Dizzy raced toward her
“Dizzy! You made it!” Mal opened her arms and Dizzy slammed into her, wrapping her arms around Mal's neck “okay love the energy but you’re choking me!” Dizzy squeaked and pulled away, the smile not falling from her face “oh! Here, I got you something” Mal picked up a bowl, filled with two scoops of smooth vanilla ice cream “ice cream~ just for you” Dizzy gasped, going to grab it but Evie got to it first, giving Mal a look.
“food first, then dessert” Mal and Dizzy pouted at her but Dizzy followed you as you nodded at the lunch line.
“come on, it's not going to disappear in the time you get your food and eat.” Ben sat next to Mal as the others went to get their food, Carlos plopping on Mal's other side a moment later, his tray filled with food.
“Hey Ben, how’d pick up go? And the tour?” Carlos asked, Ben grinned wide, Mal and Carlos grinning back “im guessing it went really well then?” Ben nodded enthusiastically, crossing his arms on the table and leaning forward.
“really really well, we arrived and got all them in like, 10 minutes, there was some hesitance from the Smee twins but Harry talked to them and they hopped into the limo after that.” Carlos and Mal nodded at that.
“yeah, the twins, as far as I know,” Mal started, scratching her cheek as she looked at the new vks in the lunch line “the twins are really really attached to their dad, the next would be Harry, if the twins weren’t attached to Smee's hip they were hanging off Harry or following him around, he acted like he hated it but everyone could tell he liked his little ducklings” Carlos hid a smile behind his soda and nodded.
“yeah, it was kinda cute” Carlos looked back to the lunch line, seeing the twins cling to Harry as he filled their trays for them “sometimes you would just walk down the market and see one twin on his back and the other wrapped around his leg and he would just walk around as if they weren’t there, point it out and you’d lose an eye but” Carlos shrugged at the mention of Harry gouging someone's eye out for pointing out his “care” towards the twins.
Ben had gotten used to the odd humor and gory references that the vks used so he brushed off the mention of Harry's old violent tendencies.
“that is very cute” Ben chuckled, moving closer to Mal as Evie and Dizzy walked back over the table, Jay suddenly appearing next to Carlos and sitting at his side, the two boys fighting as Jay attempting to snatch one of Carlos’ fries.
There was hardly any room at the table for everybody, something which Gil and you noticed. You set down your tray next to Evie’s and rolled up our sleeves, walking over the adjacent table, which was thankfully empty, and started to push it to connect to the first table.
Gil joined you and picked up the table, helping you to connect the two tables. Ben grinned and  watched as the vks spread out a bit more across the two tables, you, Harry, and Gil sitting next to each other as usual. “thanks you two”
“No problem” you and Gil chirped back in unison, Gil digging into his side of deviled eggs as you picked at your (preferred lunch) and took a bite, happy to finally eat something after a long morning.
Ben couldn’t keep down the giddy feeling in his chest as he looked around at the table, the twins, Harriet, Sammy, and Dizzy, all here, finally in Auradon. He was getting closer to his dream of giving every single vk on the isle a proper chance to live free. “I want to say a toast” Ben grabbed the drink that Evie had gotten him and raised it, the vks plus you and Doug looking at him with raised brows “it's been over half a year since I promised you all that I would bring more vks over, and I apologize that it's taken this long for you to be here, but I promise now that I will do whatever it takes to give every child on the isle a real chance at freedom. And I want to say thank you for trusting me to bring you here.” The new vks followed the first six vks as they raised their drinks with Ben and grinned at him, you and Doug doing the same. “to the future, and its generations of villain kids”
Harriet bit down her smile as everyone clinked drinks “to the future!”
-end of part 4-
part 4~six more vks are finally in Auradon!!! happy times!! and hopefully more to come!!! hopefully i described the rooms and the situation for the new vks correctly, i think i did but idk.

The Second Great War of Remnant has begun. Once more, Vale and Mantle are embroiled in a massive conflict, only this time, they are on the same side against Atlas.
I don't think it was a coincidence that so many people drew parallels with the last episode and WWI. We've never seen people fight that way in RWBY. Grimm don't use projectile weapons the way humans do, so the benefits of the trench are diminished; especially if you compare it to the drawbacks.
Now, I understand not everyone in the Atlas military has their aura unlocked and the squishy soldiers need some cover, but if The Long Memory didn't nuke every grimm on Atlas, the lines would have been overrun and then there would have been nowhere for them to retreat to.
You think the very real hand to hand struggles in the trenches of WWI were bad, imagine being trapped in a narrow trench with a bear. Or having this thing explode out of the ground under you.
Tumblr media
I refuse to believe no-one in Atlas ever thought, "if we put the dirt from the trench in a box, no only can we give our soldiers cover, we can also give them an elevated position to fire from."
Tumblr media
The top of a wall has been the primary defensive position for the people of Remnant for a long time. You can see them in the establishing shots of most settled places the team has visited. So why are we seeing a trench now?
Simple.
Show, don't tell.
RWBY has done a pretty great job, especially in the last few seasons, of showing the audience what it is trying to convey without explicitly telling them. They especially like drawing from well known folk lore to give insight into the future of the show.
Only difference here, instead of drawing the parallel between characters, they're drawing parallels between worlds.
Remnant's first Great War started with Mantle suppressing freedom of expression, the destruction of Art and Color. Ironwood always has little in the way of color, but in his first broadcast since everything started hitting the fan, he has none.
That broadcast also included evacuation ships being blown up by fighter-bombers, Dunkirk. It threatend to level a city if they didn't surrender, Battle of Brittan. All delivered by a dictator trying to scare his opponents into submission through careful use of film.
Theories
If the rest of the season is WWII, I have several theories on plot direction. Considering how well they did keeping up with both ends of the battlefield it wouldn't surprise me if they followed all of them at the same time.
Operation Dunkirk
Or, the evacuation of Mantle.
Players: Penny, Nora, Ren, Happy Huntresses
The Happy Huntresses involvement is a given. Not only has saving Mantle been their goal the whole time, they're also stuck in the middle of it right now.
Penny is the Protector of Mantle. It would be a shining moment for her character to fully throw off the virus Watts implanted and overcome Ironwood's threats to do so. Just crossing my fingers that it doesn't end like the Iron Giant.
Nora is currently Penny's tether to sanity, so she has to go with, and I doubt they would separate Ren from her for the next arc so he's going too.
Surprise twist for this plot I'm betting will be the Starwars "they aren't warships, just people" scene everyone loves to rag on. After all, the broadcast went out that they needed help and, at least at Dunkirk, it was fishing boats and pleasure crafts that retrieved the 338,000 surrounded on all sides.
Why We Fight
Or, countering Ironwoods propaganda.
Players: Robyn and Qrow
For one, these two are unaccounted for and in the heart of Atlas' military machine. If anyone has means to do so, it's them.
The film, Why We Fight, also countered the dramatic cinematography of Goebbels propaganda by painting it as ridiculous and making a folksy call to action much like Robyn has done in the past.
Operation Fortitude
Or, the deception of Ironwood.
Players: Emerald, Jaune, Oscar
This is the mission to make Ironwood think the team is going after the relic. This theory is why I actually thought of and wrote out this whole thing. Thanks @maxiemumdamage, I had things I was supposed to do tonight.
https://maxiemumdamage.tumblr.com/post/644291955872890880/willing-to-bet-my-own-soul-that-emerald-uses-her
Only difference in my theory and their's, is Jaune is going to be playing the part of Penny.
I say this for two reasons. One, Joan of Arc pretended to be a man. While we've gotten both Jaune pretending to be something he's not and him in a dress, this would pose the first time in the story he could do both. Two, it would put him on a direct collision path with Cinder. It needs to happen at some point to bring his arc to a conclusion, but man I hope we're not about to watch him burn.
With Ozpin active again, Oscar has to go along to direct them to the vault. He's also one of two backing the idea of Emerald joining the team and Jaune wouldn't be willing to work with her without him.
Operation Overlord
Or, busting down the doors of Atlas Acadamy.
Players: Ruby, Blake, Weiss, Yang
Where Operation Fortitude was the faint, Operation Overlord was the real deal. For those that aren't history buffs, this is D-Day.
I think this is the reason we've only seen the main team fighting together once since their split from Beacon. And even then, that fight was at most pairs of fighters and not all four of them supporting one another.
RWBY tricked us into thinking season 4 was the post-timeskip level up we come to expect from anime when really we ended up watching the training flashbacks as they happened instead.
We've seen hints of it with the various team ups and combinations, but are we really ready for how much ass kicking they are about to do?
I'm hoping for a One Piece level of badass entrance that can give me shivers whenever I go to watch it again like the walk to Arlong Park still does to this day.
(Aside: if you try telling me RWBY isn't anime, I'm just going to ignore you. Anime is an art movement. If you don't understand what that means, watch this video. https://youtu.be/uFtfDK39ZhI)
youtube
Now last and certainly not least
Operation Valkyrie
Or, the death of Ironwood.
Players: Winter and Marrow
The long awaited defection. Plenty of speculation has already floated around about if and when these two where going to cave to their morals and jump ship. I don't know how many of us were expecting the straw to break the camel's back to be a nuke held over Mantle, but I certainly wasn't.
What worries me, is Operation Valkyrie failed and all its conspirators were executed. As if there weren't enough death flags for Winter before.
Even if it's not Winter that kills him. I don't see Ironwood surviving this season. Even if it means he goes out like another hated dictator. It's not like it would be the first time RT had a fallen hero chose to use his own sword.
Wildcards
Or, Murphy will have his due.
Players: Cinder, Watts, Neo, Tyrian, Mercury, Clover
These players can go any which way. Three we know for sure are going to be active in the coming episodes and I wouldn't be surprised if the other three play a part as well.
Oscar made a hell of a light show for Tyrian and Mercury to see behind them. Not to mention, Salem will still need a ride home when she pulls herself back together.
Clover keeps getting mentioned even though he's hospitalized. If he was truly out of commission for the rest of the season, they would have made us think he's dead before bringing him back like they did with Penny.
Up to now, what we've seen is a three way conflict. But one of the hallmarks of Remnant's First Great War, was making temporary alliances to fight off grimm.
The grimm might be gone, but the wild cards can't complete their own objectives if they are dead. The question is who's goals better align with their own.
Two surprise twists I can see here. One, Mercury stabbing Tyrian on his way to defection. He was raised by an assassin and has not going to get a better chance than that. Two, Clover joining Operation Valkyrie. He might have accepted that sacrifice is a necessary evil to ensure Atlas' survival, but might go Schindler's List on us and find horror in what Ironwood plans to do.
TLDR
I spent way too long writing this out. All the WWI imagery means we're getting a WWII movie with RWBY characters. Major death flags for Penny, Jaune, and Winter.
Also I finally figured out how to do a readmore. Apparently it's just been a long time since I updated.
Note: kept seeing things talking about clovers death and I kind of went ???? Isn't he barely alive in medical? Went back and watched that scene and though I am 90% sure he is dead still kind of weird that they have him in his own room instead of a morgue and the initial framing made my mind instantly think he was propped up on a hospital bed. I mean, I guess we needed to have all the ACEOPs there for their reaction to Ironwood... but it definitely made me think he was alive. That and they have a bandage on his chest wound... when he's supposedly dead. Also have a phantom memory of Harriet saying something about him being in critical but I think that's my memory playing tricks on me.
Having his face exposed instead of covered by the sheet and seeing him in the same frame as Winter being treated also didn't help my gut reaction of "Oh Shit! He's alive? How?!" If I'd followed up more on the "how" might not have made the blunder of writing his return as the final twist in my theory. Oops

do you really need to bring shipper wars in the Austen fandom too?
Full offense but people who deny Emma is in love with Mr Knightley and hate on him because they ship her with Harriet, and pretend she should’ve ended up with her, are bullshit.  I’m tired of these posts (including the Harriet stans whom I saw bashing even in some emma/knightley posts when fans of the latter are the first to make cute posts about Harriet too), and honestly, you all just make me feel very negative about Harriet and unable to truly appreciate her scenes with Emma.
Maybe I just don’t care about being a bitch but here’s what an Emma fan who is just tired of the anti Emma/Knightley crap honestly thinks about your nonsense:
Hating on the last Emma adaptation because Emma is in love with Mr Knightley and marries him in the end is as disingenuos and idiotic as hating a Pride and Prejudice adaptation because Darcy and Elizabeth are in love. Le duh!  You can ship him with Bingley and her with Charlotte (or Wickham, if that’s your mood I’m not judging shipping choices here) but if you watch a movie based on an Austen’s book you know what you are getting yourself into, especially when her canon romances tend to be very important plot elements for the protagonists and their character growth.
I get it’s 2021 and hating all het romance makes some people feel woke and edgy, and I totally get alternative readings and things like that, but out of ALL Austen ships and all her female heroines, Emma is the one female character who doesn’t even need, neither want,  to get married and truly only does that in the end because she is in love.  Emma is the LEAST Austen heroine whose romance you should even question because she honestly only married the guy because of love and no other reason.   Furthermore, unlike most of romances from that time, the guy Emma marries isn’t just some random guy she has met two seconds ago, it actually is her best friend, someone she knows since years and the one person who knows her best and loves her in spite of her flaws. Austen was very forward for her time with their romance, especially given the fact her male love interest actually decides to live with Emma and her father in the end instead of doing what every married man had the right to do at the time (take his wife to his own home where she’d have little to no power). Knightley and Emma are the (original) best friends to lovers relationship. He’s the best friend Emma had loved from the beginning without realizing it. It’s one of the main points of her story and the great irony of the novel that she thinks love isn’t for her, and she had never been in love, but she already is in love with him without realizing it because of their friendship. I’m sorry bro but that had never been Harriet, and it seems hypocritical tbh for some of you to want to give Harriet the story that Mr Knightley has with Emma, all the while hating on him and the romance. Even with the last movie, you have people take quotes de Wilde said about Knightley and Emma (e.g., the one about the movie making you think about ‘the best friend you maybe should have kissed’) out of context to manipulate others into thinking she was talking about Harriet instead (and queer baiting, which would be homophobic)
On one hand, we really do need more stories that put an emphasis on female friendships too and on other relationships that aren’t just the romance. On the other hand, it’s completely useless for writers to try to give us that  (e.g. de Wilde in the last Emma) if everytime two characters care about each other and share screentime together, people claim that relationship (and all scenes that make perfect sense with a normal platonic relationship) must be romance and romance only. It’s almost as if some of you never had a friend and therefore believe that everytime a character cares about another character they must be romantically in love with them. It also makes me believe, more than anything, that romance is the only kind of love that exists or is important for many of you. And if that is the truth, why even bother with fictional friendships then? Why even complain when writers don’t give us that if we are unable to appreciate those relationships as something of equal importance with romance?
I really can’t take people serioustly when they overinflate Harriet and her relationship with Emma all the while they minimize Emma/Knightley’s mutual feelings.  I read people who apparently find it harder to erase Harriet’s baseless crushes on every guy who gives her attention, than erase the actual love story and feelings of the protagonist! Tbh, even if you wanted a gay adaptation of Emma (and not one that is that just for the sake of), it would make much more sense to simply turn Mr Knightley into a female character, therefore still respecting the canon couple and Emma’s character arc, than ship her with Harriet. The latter is a weak alternative and frankly baseless for me because the only things she and Emma have in common is the fact they are both girls and they have an ‘e’ in their name. Full stop. Intellectually, Harriet is no match for Emma and their ranks in society are so apart that their relationship could never ever be equal (and it never was). I don’t want to be harsh but tbh I was never convinced they are actually friends in the novel, and the last movie made it even worse for they emphasized Harriet’s blindness about Emma’s feelings, and how one sided that dynamic is for it’s just Emma who makes an effort to be a friend in the end. Let’s be real here, Harriet doesn’t even know Emma and never really acts as a friend to her, unless your definition of friendship is ‘someone who worships you, and pretends you are the best and right even when you aren’t, as long as they perceive you as a savior who can help them'.  That’s not what being a friend means to me. It speaks volumes to me that the one and only time movie-Harriet actually notices that Emma is a human being with flaws and feelings too is when she gets angry because Emma wants the same guy she wants. I don’t know if Austen’s ‘naive and completely clueless Harriet’ is worse or better than de Wilde’s version but the latter really emphasizes one of the biggest issues of Emma/Harriet even more, to me. As a book Emma fan, before an adaptations fan, I read all kinds of comments about this novel and character but honestly, I never read any real convincing argument why Harriet and Emma should be a couple instead of her and Knightley. Most of what I read boils down to people taking things out of context and/or claims that Harriet is ‘better’ for Emma just because she’s a woman and she agrees with her all the time, while Mr Knightley is the bad guy because he’s older than her (he’s only 37, btw) and criticizes her ( as if Emma doesn’t need someone to criticize her, and her character growth isn’t dependent on precisely that). I get some people wouldn’t like to have someone who is criticizing them but worshiping someone is =/= being their friend or appreciating their real qualities. I also read people point up how much Emma praises Harriet in the book as proof that she’s in love with her, but the same ignore the many instances, especially after Harriet tells her that she loves Mr Knightley, that truly show Emma’s real colors and how much she still considers Harriet her, and especially Mr Knightley’s, inferior to the extent she regrets their friendship and thinks Harriet is ‘uppity’ for thinking Mr Knightley would ruin his reputation to marry someone like her. When I read those arguments it seems, if anything, that people want to have the cake and eat it by saying that Austen’s own story doesn’t matter (and she doesn’t understand her characters’ real feelings) when it comes to the things those people don’t like (eg the fact Knightley is the one Emma is in love with and all the explicit hints about that ), all the while still selectively using some of her writing to support their alternative version of the story. Now with the last movie adaptation, it’s even worse for me. It’s telling that the two scenes people romanticize as pro Emma/Harriet are two phrases/moments that actually emphasize the bad side of their relationship, and why their friendship isn’t good for either of them. The first is the scene when Emma says she ‘wants to keep Harriet for herself’: not only there is nothing romantic about that ( that line is in the book too as well as Knightley’s ‘your infatuation is blinding you’. You are reading a book written in 1800 with modern goggles though, and that alone doesn’t really work) but that phrase should actually make you cringe for it emphasizes how selfish and manipulative Emma is by treating Harriet like her new pet project just because she’s lonely. She doesn’t care about the girl’s feelings for Robert Martin, and what is truly the best for her due to her rank (and how dangerous it actually is for Harriet to not marry and find someone who can offer her protection), even if it’s what she tells herself, she only cares about her own desire to have a new female friend because she lost Mrs Weston and she feels lonely and bored. It’s also true, though, that she is still lying to Mr Knightley too because she does actually want to match Harriet with Mr Elton, that which is obvious in the other scenes, but even that is an expression of Emma’s selfishness and not really a hint of her caring, let alone loving, Harriet as a human at this point. If you read the book, it’s particularly obvious given the fact that Emma isn’t blind about Harriet’s feelings for Robert Martin for she knows that her behavior is bad and the girl actually cares about the guy, but she manipulates her into thinking Mr Elton is better because it’s her choice and she prefers him (until he proposes to her, of course. Then she thinks Mr Elton is trash for being so arrogant to believe someone of his rank could marry her) The second phrase people romanticize is only in the last movie and it’s that annoying ‘I refused Robert Martin because of you’ phrase by Harriet later in the movie. I hate that because, once again, that phrase has nothing ‘romantic’ about it unless you obviously ignore the context and what is actually happening there. Harriet is being passive aggressive with Emma there, gaslighting her and blaming her for the loss of her first suitor BECAUSE HARRIET WANTS MR KNIGHTLEY for herself. Harriet is angry with Emma there because she realizes she loves Mr Knightley TOO and Emma has more chances than her. The most likely sentiment behind that flippant phrase for me is something along the lines of Harriet impulsively telling Emma to move aside and let her have Mr Knightley because she made her lose Robert Martin already. She is trying to make Emma feel guilty, subconsciously or deliberately, but this surely is how Emma herself perceives Harriet’s words too for the poor girl really thinks it makes her a bad person to accept Knightley’s proposal in spite of loving him back. Harriet made her believe she was stealing her man and yet, AND YET, had Harriet been a real friend, to begin with, she should’ve realized Emma’s feelings for him way before she deluded herself into thinking the guy wanted her. But Harriet never cares about Emma’s feelings and even their reconciliation in the end is all, still, about what Emma needs to do for her. Not a word from Harriet about being happy for her friend too. Nothing.
Listen, I really appreciate de Wilde’s attempt to make the Harriet/Emma dynamic better than it is in either the novel or other adaptations, even if it personally doesn’t convince me it’s friendship. But I get it. Like I said at the beginning, it’s important that movies display different kinds of love too beside romance and if you can’t do that with characters like Emma who are the protagonist then when you can even do that? I think it was valid for her and Catton to want to emphasize the fact that Emma, at her core, is truly young and lonely and she doesn’t have friends in the truest sense of the word (Mr Knightley is one, of course, but their point is more about her having a female companion too whom Emma could do more ‘girl’ things she can’t do with her husband or father) but, honestly, I maintain no adaptation ever truly got their relationship right. No one.  Overrating them and pretending that they are best friends forever when there is no substance for that is as incorrect as an interpretation of Austen’s writing as it is treating Harriet as a silly girl Emma barely tolerates. I appreciate the movie shows Emma’s conflict about Harriet when Knightley proposes to her because most of adaptations don’t do that: in the book she really, for a moment, feels so bad for Harriet and feels simultanously happy Mr Knightley loves her but also bad for taking the guy Harriet wants. She is no hero who wants to give up about him to let Harriet have the guy instead, though, but it isn’t like she doesn’t care either. She does and it’s a source of anguish for Emma and part of her character growth that she actually cares and feels empathy for Harriet.
However, if you want Emma to have a real female friend that’s not Harriet and that’s not really the story Austen wrote and the role she gave to Harriet. Like many academics pointed up, like many of Emma’s ‘mirrors’ in the story, Harriet is put there by Austen to emphasize Emma’s immaturity at the beginning and the fact she deliberately doesn’t choose her equals as friends and picks Harriet, instead, as her new pet project because her inferiority makes her easier to manipulate and, like Mr Knightley very eloquently points up, she makes Emma feel superior and more accomplished than she is. Emma doesn’t want to be friends with Jane, for example, because not only she could be more her equal but she actually does see her as superior in the aspects that make Emma the most vulnerable and insecure.
It’s great the movie gave more space to Emma’s relationship with Harriet, and I get that if you want to put the spotlight on female friendship too it’s either Harriet or Mrs Weston but also, let’s not pretend the movie wasn’t focused very much on her romance with Mr Knightley too, perhaps more than other adaptations did. People commend this adaptation for showing his feelings for her more and it’s true, but I will also argue that this movie does emphasize her feelings for him more than adaptations usually do for you really see Emma’s feelings and jealousy towards him before she even realizes her feelings. It’s obvious since their first scene when she’s waiting for him and runs to her piano because she wants to get noticed by him. Her breath constantly hitches when he’s close to her or because of her feelings for him, and she definitely reacts to dancing with him. She may not know her feelings from the start, she might be in her own ‘work in progress’ to figure everything out, but the movie makes it obvious to me that she loves him. If there is any adaptation where you want to be disingenuos about their chemistry and deny their romance, this really isn’t the one tbh. Look, if you want to headcanon Emma as bisexual you’ll find me agreeing with you, but pro LGBT readings and actual representation doesn’t mean, for me, shipping two characters together just because they are the same gender and the writers make them care about each other a bit, or give them screentime. Like I said at the beginning, if I wanted a gay adaptation of Emma I’d rather make Mr Knightley a woman than ship Emma with Harriet or Mrs Weston or Jane. Because regardless their genders, it’s the Knightley character the one Emma loves and wants to be with, and it’s this character who truly represents her best friend and the person who knows her best. It’s Knightley the only one who cares about her well being so much that when she is being the worst version of herself and no one cares, he is the one willing to tell her even if he hates doing that and he feels he’s destroying every chance he has to make her love him back. It’s the Knightley character who ultimately inspires her to be a better person and loves her in spite of her flaws.

2021 Emmerdale Wishlist
(I was inspired by @softlass27 and wanted to do one of my own)
Some Overall Things
- More community involvement. I know, I know Covid, but hopefully they’ll be able to ease the restrictions before the year is out so it still applies. And aside from that, they need to work within the restrictions to do better. I still thought that clothing exchange in the cafe was a really good attempt to allow different characters to mix.
- In general, they need to really figure out how to work within the covid restrictions better because it has been very noticeable at times and the whole show has felt like it’s been a slower pace, including individual scenes and it’s a problem.
- More appropriate story lengths. I’m tired of these never ending stories that just meander along.
- Better story structure. Stories seem to either magic into being or they’re so slow to start you wonder if there is a story. I just want stories to have proper lead ins and build up and actual climaxes that feel worthwhile. And I want to understand the point of a story both as it’s going and for sure once it has finished. I don’t want to have to keep asking the question, “Is it going somewhere or is this just bad writing”.
- Work on relationship stories. Stop putting terribly suited people together. At least try and build relationships up naturally and allow them to have some time before just shoving them together. Stop having other characters talk about how people should be together. I want to see the actual couple together and understand why. If a couple isn’t working, actually break them up. Cheating stories can work but make them happen for an actual reason and not just cause you feel like drama.
- In general, work on motivations for characters because so many people this year have just done things for little to no real reason.
Character Focused things
- I too am willing to wait till the 50th Anniversary for Robert’s triumphant return. Enjoy that dad and son time Ryan, your time will come. Hopefully post pandemic restrictions and when there’s a new decent producer who has some robron nostalgia.
- In the meantime, I would like the show to allow Aaron to become a real character again. While, I’ve very much been fine with his massive break this year because it’s given me time to process him not having a tall blond glued to his side, I would like it if he got a bit more screen time next year. And I would like for that screen time to include interactions with characters that are not Liv and Chaddy. I’d love to see him get a friend, whether that’s Mack or someone else, I just want him to have someone else to talk to. I would also like to see him have an actual story even if he is a supporting character, but make him a consistent one, not support to the support and not just a cameo for an episode or two. I’d love to see him have more to do than a relationship story but if he must, for the the love of god at least put some amount of effort into it. Or just let him go on random bad dates that he gets to talk to his new friend about how no one is right.
- I want Chaddy to break up. Whether it’s actually a cheating story or they just realize how unsuited they are for each other after all, I don’t care. Let the Christmas wedding curse persist. (In lieu of that, I want them on screen as little as possible together and if they are they better not be having any problems or be overly sappy and if I hear more than one or two “Graaacieees” I’m out)
- As for Liv, either Isobel can get a big break with her music and Liv can take a never ending trip to Dublin or they need to do better. If she stays, I want to see her become an adult. I want to see her make some choices about her future, get a job etc. I’d still like them to explore what a relationship means to her without having it be a plot point in the next abuser’s story. That still means something to me and I’d like to see it on screen for real and not just in the background.
- For the love of god give Matty a story. Let him date, let him and Amy finally get together but like...do it better this time. Let him move out of Moira’s and stop being a footnote in her stories. Let him get promoted at the HOP or get a new job. Go back to his transition story. Let him interact with his friends more. Just almost anything really.
- With Charity, we all know Vanessa will be back eventually and they’ll put them back together, so in the meantime, I’d like to them to start figuring out a balance for her. I agree somewhat that the regressive behavior she’s engaging in now feels a little ridiculous but that’s mostly because it’s baseless. They need to find real reasons and motivations for her to have her scheming fun the way they did with Robert and Cain. So first things first, I would get her the hell out of the pub because that was always a bad idea. I want her back in a business that allows her to wheel and deal and scheme without it always having to be random criminal activity. I also NEED them to allow her to say she’s bisexual on screen and to own that and to stop having writers put in those stupid unnecessary biphobic jokes. And they need to allow her to realize that she’s okay on her own and that any growth she had wasn’t only down to Vanessa.
- For Cain and Moira, I want them to actually stay together this time and not immediately get broken up by something absurd. They can be tested, but only so they can prove that they are really working on their issues.
- I’d like Laurel and Jai to get through their grief and stay together.
- I want Jamie to get a fucking back bone and break free of Andrea altogether and break free of Kim too. I’d be cool with him and Mack actually being friends. I’d like him to get a real love interest too.
- For Mack, I want him to keep being the snarky, fun breath of fresh air he has been but I’d like to ground him a little bit too. I want him to find something real in the village, whether that’s a friend or a love interest. Jamie and Aaron are good friend options for him. Just someone to give him a real solid tie to the village and give him some to talk to/confide in. If they wanted to make him bi, I would not be opposed. I’d also like him to make some progress with Moira in the next year so that doesn’t remain stagnant.
- For Kim, I want this stupid story with Cain to already be over because it’s based on nothing. I know she’s supposed to get a love interest and I’m already dreading it. I do want her to get a love interest but I want it to feel real with real feelings and not come out of nowhere like I expect it to. I think Kim needs real connections in general. That brief period where she was friends with Rhona was good. They should give her another friend. Just. something to make her feel less like a cartoon villain even if she still is an antagonist.
- I want someone to run over Luke and Wendy. I want them the hell out of Vic’s life and the hell out of the village. I still can’t fathom why they ever introduced them or had them stick around.
- I need Harriet and Will to go away. They’re useless and they’ve overstayed their welcome at this point. I want to free Dawn because I feel like she could be a decent character if she wasn’t shackled to them. If the Malone story FINALLY ends with Harriet and Will both leaving, that would be a miracle.
- I want Dan and Amelia to move to Croydon so someone else can have their house. They’re just not relevant characters anymore.
- I want the new vicar and his son to be good characters and for more of their family to come in, hopefully female family members so there can be more women of color on the show too. But also I just want them to all be good characters with good connections and good stories.
- If Marlon and Rhona are going to get together again, I want them to actually work out as a couple because I’ve quite enjoyed their friendship over the years and I think they could work as a couple again if they just maintain what they’ve had and don’t ruin it.
- I’d like this whole stupid Al story to blow up in his face quick so we can move the hell on. If Al’s going to stick around, I need him to do something interesting. Either ground him more and give him better relationships or have him go full villain.
- For Gabby, I want to see her continue to grow and get more adult stories, once that don’t include her meddling in people’s relationships. I’d like to see them explore a relationship story with her too. If she wants to realize she’s bi or something too and that she and Liv are meant to be, I’d be fine with that too.
- More Jimmy and Nicola but don’t use that screen time to destroy them.
- For Meena, I’d like them to tone her down just a bit and resolve the weird petty stuff between her and Manpreet. I’m cool with them exploring her and David but I don’t want it to feel as rushed or haphazard.
- For Amy, I kind of want Tracy to just blow the whole Frank thing just so she can deal with the consequences and move on. Or just have her tell Matty as they’re getting closer and have him be like “eh my mum killed Emma so this is fine” and then it brings them closer. I just want it out there so it’s not hanging over her head anymore. I also just want her on screen more and with Matty and being friends with Vic.
- For Vic, other than being free of the Posners, I’d just like her to reclaim her life a bit more, maybe see her at the HIDE more, maybe catering more, maybe a better love interest.
- I’d like to see Billy get something decent too that’s not just another lame attempt at brothers at war with Ellis. Let him find a career he likes, make a new friend, finally make peace with Aaron, something.
- Ellis can move to Dubai.
- Sam and Lydia just need to keep being their perfect selves. Give them some fun little stories.
- The Mandy/Paul/Vinny saga needs to END now. There’s just no reason Vinny should be keeping all of this quiet. It’s dumb. Paul needs to go. Mandy needs to steal Paddy away from Chas or something. Vinny needs to hang out with Sam and Lydia and Samson again and maybe find a better career than whatever scrap jobs Aaron can throw his way.
- Belle needs to go back to maybe being a vet and maybe date someone that’s not an affair?!
- Leyla and Liam need to just stay together or break up for good.
- Rishi needs to stop being treated like a child.
- Tracy needs to just have this baby so we don’t have to hear about how she’s pregnant anymore (though I have enjoyed the reprieve lately) Are we sure Nate can’t go to prison after all?

Hopes and Friendships (Witch!MU AU) Chap.1-Speranza, the Magic World
Hey everyone! Got a brand new AU for you all! I know I have no control with creating AU’s.
So ever since I made my Mermaid AU and my Werekitten AU, I figured let’s make a Witch AU featuring our favorite fighting for justice girl, Mustache Girl. I had this idea for a few months now and watched a bit of witch themed shows and movies like Kiki’s Delivery Service and Owl House to get me motivated. I even came up with some ideas during work and when it was slow I’d write down the ideas on receipt paper.
Hope you join in on this new magical adventure!
Enjoy!
The world of Speranza is a magical place where witches, wizards and other magical creatures live. At Speranza’s famous academy, Magia, young witches and wizards go there to enhance their magical skills and hopefully find their own talents. The school is run by a strict, but well known witch named Elizabeth, who hopes to see her students succeed.
However, one student has been under her skin since day one.
It was a normal day at Magia Academy, until a loud explosion happened at the left side of the school that snapped Elizabeth out of her thoughts. The headmistress quickly left her office and marched to where the explosion happened.
“Is everyone alright!” Elizabeth yelled, snapping the door open. The smoke cleared, but the students were covered in blue goo. The students pointed at the student who caused the explosion.
The student in question was a young girl with long blonde hair tied into loose pigtails with green beads and a purple ribbon, and had tawny colored eyes. She also had a fake blonde colored mustache on her face. She wore the Magia School uniform, which was a pale purple blouse with long sleeves, and a plaid purple suspender skirt, long black stockings and purple shoes.
The girl gave a nervous chuckle and hid the two potion bottles behind her back. Elizabeth sighed and glared at the young girl. “Of course, Mu.” She hissed.
Mu was then sent to Elizabeth’s office to be scolded and punished for her recent actions. “This has been the 10th time this month I’ve seen you in my office, Mu!” Elizabeth shouted. Mu sat there quietly as she watched her headmistress pace around her office and rant about every little bad thing Mu did this month. “You made potions flood the school, you got a flock of crows in here, and now this! Just to name a few!”
“Okay to be fair, the crow thing wasn’t my fault. They were the ones who chased me on my way to school.” Mu explained.
“Even so!” Elizabeth snapped, as she slammed the ruler on the table, making Mu squeak. “You’ve gotten in trouble countless times, and I’m at the point of expelling you.” She told her. Mu’s eyes snapped open, as she turned away from Elizabeth. “But,” The headmistress continued, “I will leave you off with a warning, since Tim told me you did the project right.” This made Mu sigh in relief. “But, one more mess up and you’ll be expelled from Magia Academy, and your flying lessons would be confiscated! Got it!”
Mu stuttered a bit, but sighed understanding the consequence if she were to get in trouble again. “Yes, ma’am.” She told her.
“Good, now go back to whatever it is you're doing.” Elizabeth demanded, shooing the girl away. Mu sighed and walked back to her dorm.
A black cat, wearing a pink collar with a potion bottle woke up hearing the door slam open and closed, causing him to freak out. “Boss! Let’s go!” Mu shouted. The cat turned to see Mu frustrated as she changed from her school uniform to her regular witch clothes, which was red with a pink belt and collar with long pink striped socks.
The black cat, named Boss sighed, “What did you do this time?” He asked.
“Nothing!” Mu snapped. “My project got all messed up, and Headmistress Elizabeth thinks I was causing nothing but trouble again!” She ranted.
“To be honest, after all the mayhem you’ve been doing. She would be mad at the smallest mistake you would make.” Boss replied.
Mu growled and grabbed Boss by his scruff. “Don’t piss me off!” She then dropped her cat on her bed then grabbed her broom and opened her window and was ready to go for a fly. “I’m going to fly for a bit. I need a cool off!”
“Now, as you're familiar I need to accompany you if you plan on leaving the school.” Boss told her.
Mu sighed, she wanted to go on her broom flight by herself. Though Boss was right. “Alright, you can join, but just stay quiet for at least 5 minutes.” She told him. Boss then hopped on the broom before Mu went flying off into the sky.
The flight was quiet between Mu and Boss. Mu just wanted to fly as far away from the school as possible just for a while till curfew and then sleep the rest of her frustration off. During the flight, Mu passed through all of Speranza, the colorful lights as the sun started to go down, made her smile.
Later into the flight, Boss saw a ripple by the moonlight, and freaked out.“M-Mu! K-Kid!” Boss tried to warn, but Mu cut him off.
“I told you to keep your mouth shut!” Mu snapped.
“B-but w-we’re about to enter a-” Boss was cut off as Mu and him entered the ripple, which sent them to another world, Earth.
On Earth, there was a young girl around Mu’s age, with brown hair tied into a ponytail and in her lilac space pajamas. She had these witch dolls, monster plushies, and a storybook with the same witches on them. “And then the sweet witch, Aida, used her magical spell to turn the water monster into nothing more than a puddle!” The girl narrated.
She grabbed the witch doll, Aida and pointed it at the plush of a frog like monster. The girl made her Aida doll pretend to do magic and to make it look like the water monster turned into a puddle she grabbed the plush and threw it on her bed, where it landed perfectly on her pillows. “Haha!” She cheered. “The 5 harmony witches could never be beaten!” She cheered.
“Harriet!” A male voice shouted. The young girl, Harriet turned to see her father, a man with brown hair like her, golden eyes, wearing a red and purple plaid shirt, some purple sweat pants, and grey socks. “Harriet, it’s almost 10 pm, and you should be asleep.”
“Sorry dad.” Harriet apologized. “I’m just reenacting my favorite scene from the Five Perfect Witches!” She explained.
Harriet’s father, Luka sighed, shaking his head. “Every scene from that book series is your favorite.” He reminded her. “But, aren’t you a little old for that book?”
“Dad.” Harriet frowned. “Five Perfect Witches are loved by everybody! They show you, you don’t have to be perfect to be anything, being perfect is-” Harriet and her father continued together, “you being you.”
“I know.” Luka reminded her. “But, you’re almost 10 years old, and kids your age should be reading mystery books, horror novels, and books about growing up.” He told her, as he ruffled her head.
“But fantasies are better, and plus everyone loves fantasy novels.”
“Not as much as you do.” Luka then picked up Harriet’s stuff and placed them on her bed. “Now, it’s getting late and you should be getting sleep.”
Harriet let out a yawn, feeling a bit tired already from the mini adventure she had. She crawled into bed, as she watched her father put her 5 Perfect Witch dolls, book, and some of her plushies on the shelf, except for the frog monster and mouse monster plush, which was left on her daughter’s bed. Luka gave his daughter a kiss on her forehead and turned off the lights.
“Night my little witch.” Luka whispered.
“Night dad.” Harriet whispered back. She turned to her side and went to sleep. However, a few moments later, Harriet opened her eyes and got up to go to her shelf, and grab her 5 Perfect Witch book to do some late night reading. She turned on her lamp and started to read her book, clutching her plushies tight. “Wouldn’t it be nice to meet a witch?” Harriet whispered to herself.
A twinkle was heard outside, and Harriet quickly closed her book and looked outside her balcony and saw a silhouette of Mu flying on her broom. Harriet’s eyes widened seeing a witch, a real live witch! “A witch!” She exclaimed in a low whisper. Quickly, Harriet grabbed her house slippers and was ready to head outside for a closer look.
“What are you doing?” Luka asked. Harriet squeaked and turned towards her father, who looked disappointed seeing his daughter hadn’t fallen asleep yet.
“D-dad!” Harriet stuttered. “I-I just saw something outside and wanted to go and check it out.”
Luka shook his head. “Harriet, you can check it out in the morning, right now you need to be in bed, asleep.” He told her, as he ushered his daughter back to her room. Harriet stuttered and tried to tell her father, but she gave up and slowly nodded heading back to her room.
Harriet sighed and took off her slippers. She then went back to her window, and saw Mu was still flying, but something was off about it.
Back with Mu, “Woah! Ah!” Mu screamed as she lost control of her broom. She then noticed she made it to Earth, and freaked out, which in turn caused her to lose control. Soon Mu crashed into a tree, and was knocked out dizzy from the landing.
Back with Harriet, she saw the whole thing and felt concerned for the witch. As much as she wanted to go help Mu, her father would get furious seeing her still awake. “I hope you're okay, witch.” Harriet whispered. “I’ll check up on you in the morning.” She closed her windows and went back to sleep, but couldn’t shake the feeling about the witch.

Coven AU Snippet
Had some inspiration to write something for the Descendants coven AU that I’ve been playing around with. You can find the first part here. Not sure if this will ever turn into a full out story. I have one too many still in process stories that I need to get finished. But I needed to focus on something that wasn’t the election so this is what I got. Let me know what you think.
The idea was inspired by the part in Night Falls where Uma, Mal, and Evie are all singing together. After watching it, I was struck with this idea of “What would it look like if these three were in a coven together?”  Like I said before, this is just a snippet for an idea I’ve been playing around with.  “Thought we were expecting four of you.” Mal glanced at Uma who was glaring at a piece of colored sea glass as if it had called her “Shrimpy”.
Rain pounded heavily against the window of the antique pawn shop they found themselves in, reflecting the stormy look within the other girl’s eyes.
“Must have been a typo,” Evie, always the social butterfly and much better than either Mal or Uma at the whole...socializing thing, answered for them. “There’s only three witches in our coven at the moment.” Mal held back a snort as an unnatural but familiar chill stood near her. Technically, not a lie, she thought.
The welcoming committee, in the form of a young woman a few years older than them  whose expression seemed to scream perpetually unimpressed, didn’t look convinced, a deep frown on her otherwise pretty face as she looked back at the packet before her. Harriet, Mal remembered her introducing herself as. Harriet Hook. The air around her commanded respect, something that instinctually rubbed Mal the wrong way. It really took everything in Mal to not snap at her to just get on with it. But she had promised Evie she wouldn’t bite anyone’s heads off - figuratively and literally - and even Mal was weak against one of Evie’s pouts.
“We really gotta work on your temper, Mal,” a whisper of a voice teased before the cool spot that had been on her left, moved over to where Uma was uninterestedly looking through a small box of shells that was on display.
“Fuck you,” the purple hair girl growled.
“Excuse me?” Harriet’s frown turned into a scowl, body tense like she was prepared to throw them all out.
“She sneezed,” Evie said with a near perfect smile while pulling more paperwork out of her bag. “We also have our sponsorship letter from one of the leaders of the local coven to vouch for us,” she said, easily drawing Harriet’s attention away from Mal and her blunder. A bodiless voice chuckled from off to the side and even Uma couldn’t help the corners of her lips turning slightly up at Mal’s slip.
“Mama Odie, sponsored you?” Harriet frowned.
“Is that a problem?” Uma finally spoke, tension in every muscle of her body. The wind of the storm outside grew louder as a flash of lightning went off.Harriet glanced at the window, rolling her eyes.
“Just surprised. Haven’t had Odie sponsor one witch, let alone a coven of ‘em who aren’t of the same magical orientation as her, in twelve years.” She paused, eyes taking in the three as if breaking them down and reassessing them. “Interesting,” was all she said.

RWBY Volume 8 Chapter 7 Review/Remix
Last episode before the holiday break. The long long long holiday break. And here I am only posting my review the night before we come back... I was having a lot of fun playing my new video games, okay? Let’s just get right into this with the joke everyone has already made. War: What is it good for? Actually a lot, if you can believe it. Only in this specific context though, because the warfare in the American streets these last few days is disgusting and emblematic of what has been wrong with the country for a while. A government leader sending his followers into the nation’s capital on a mission of rage and personal catharsis? Ick. At least in RWBY the tyrant isn’t attacking members of his own population... Oh wait, Mantle. :P
For a moment you might be fooled into thinking we’re starting back in the farmlands of Mistral, maybe getting another look at Oscar’s earlier life or seeing a little more of Nora’s mysteriously tragic past before she and Ren met. But no, these are the wheat farms on the outskirts of Atlas and Sabyrs are charging through like raptors through the tall grass in Lost World. A battalion of Atlesian soldiers, human soldiers I might add, stand armed to meet them. But even if they’re armed they are by no means ready. Monstra keeps coughing up a new wave of Grimm, and I do mean a wave, every minute or two and Atlas is pretty damn whelmed in the face of it. There are some big bots with guns standing in straight lines, but the majority of the defense put up by Remnant’s supreme authority on military power and strength is mortal men with fear in their hearts rather than expendable robot soldiers. And the big bots seem to be lined up in a way that the ones in the front block the ones in the back, so that’s just poor planning too. It’s just a concerning sight all together, and they are not efficiently handling the coming enemy. We cut up to Ironwood in his office, and it seems he is not dealing with this situation well at all. We know he’s under a lot of stress from all the recent events, but they are in fact mostly his own fault due to his poor decision making skills in times of crisis, and his single minded drive he calls a Semblance. Speaking of the eternally expanding list of Ironwood’s bad ideas, he decides to evacuate all the civilians into Atlas’ below ground subway tunnels. Fun fact: There were Apathy among the Grimm Monstra has been spitting out. Second Fun Fact: Apathy were last seen thriving and murdering in an abandoned underground tunnel system beneath a well. If one is familiar with fantasy television pop culture of the last decade, the Crypts of Winterfell might pop into your mind as a similarly poor place to hide all your unarmed women and children. Y’know, cuz in Game of Thrones they were facing a guy who could raise the dead as his minions and crypts are just tunnels full of corpses. Just saying, this could end up being a non-birthday massacre. Whatever captain of lieutenant Ironwood was talking to is hesitant to go along with this idea, but Ironwood puts his foot down by putting his fist down. And so his voice comes on over the city-wide PA system to tell everyone they need to get down into the subway for their own safety. Compared to the organized marching and relative calm of the poor folks down in Mantle, these rich fat cats practically trample each other to run and scream down the stairs. A father is concerned his daughter is going to get snatched up by a swarm of Lancers, but seems even more upset by the squad of airships swooping in to combat them.
Speaking of airships, we cut to the one Marrow and Harriet are flying. The Ace Ops have arrested YRJ, because of course they did, and they all hear radio chatter as pilots are reporting in about how Monstra is too tough for them to pierce from the outside with any of the weapons available to them. Winter checks in over comms to report her team’s limited successes, and Ironwood tells her to stay on jailor duty for a bit. Yang snarks at Winter for continuing to follow orders despite the circumstances, but conversation is stifled by Monstra coming into view for the group. Jaune laments that the beast now serving as Oscar’s confinement is larger than they had imagined from a distance, and Vine continues to be rigid in his assertions as to just what Grimm can and cannot do. “Grimm don’t take prisoners” he says, as if that’s an irrefutable fact. It’s not like any Grimm have done anything new or unheard of recently, like talk or grow wings or exist within a river of evil sludge or shoot up miles into the air as a geyser or have gravity Dust crystals in their underbelly to fly, or as you are witnessing right now belch out ponds worth of sludge from with waves of Grimm are emerging to fight your ground troops. Yep, we definitely know every single thing a Grimm does, especially one brought here by the mistress of the entire Grimm collective who is commanding most of them here. You sure are smart, Vine... Yang continues to be riled up and ask they be let go to help, but Elm and Vine hold her in her seat. Ironwood is heard giving the Manta jets new orders and reveals Command is working on a solution for Monstra. Winter, naturally wanting to be kept in the loop, asks what that might be. He reveals the science team is putting together a bomb that might be able to take the whale out if detonated inside it. That means Winter and the Ace Ops will be delivering it into the literal belly of the beast. I don’t know if he intends for it to be a suicide mission with the bomb going off as soon as they’ve got it inside, or if it’s just incredibly risky to try and get inside Monstra at all, but Winter pales at this news and her eyes go wide before sadly drooping closed again. She composes herself and grows determined again as she accepts the new marching orders. Jaune and Yang are again audibly against these plans due to the risk to Oscar’s safety, but they are subdued as needed, though we see Winter’s act isn’t absolute and her hands are shaking.
Meanwhile, Salem is having the time of her life doing her best Mickey Mouse impression. Classical music plays as she conducts the waves of Grimm sludge out of Monstra’s mouth like the Sorcerer’s Apprentice playing conductor to the stars themselves. Emerald watched from a distance, and seems less than thrilled about the whole thing. She heads down the halls and has to use her Semblance to keep a Seer from noticing her and potentially reporting her going where she doesn’t need to be to Salem. And where she’s going is the door outside Oscar’s torture room. He’s coughing up blood, and Hazel is still insisting he start telling the truth before Salem loses her patience and just kills him despite how futile it’d be. Instead Oz starts asking some questions of his own: Does Hazel know why Salem sought to recruit him in particular? It turns out she approached him with the promise of making a new world order where there won’t be any kingdoms or Huntsman Academies. Oz just has to laugh at that naiveté. When Salem gets the 4 Relics, there won’t be a world at all. She’s been around for so goddamn long, all she wants is for it to end, and she thinks taking the whole world down is the only way to get it anymore. This just frustrates Hazel, and we learn why. He’s pretty damn sure Salem can’t die at all, because when she first approached him about working together he spent the better part of a day killing her over and over and over again. This man, whom we know from the Battle of Haven to have massive reserves of Aura and strength to endure and keep fighting, kept fighting until he was too worn down and exhausted to lift his fists again. And in that time of weakness and awe at her power, Salem made her sales pitch that even if he couldn’t kill the one leading the Grimm he could at least have vengeance on the establishment sending young people to their deaths against her. Oz points out that that’s exactly why she went to him, because she could make him believe this was the right way, that it would bring him closure. It’s what Ozpin deserves, Hazel argues, and Oz does not disagree. But does Oscar deserve it? Do the innocent people who haven’t been affected by Salem or Ozpin yet?  No, this isn’t for justice, this is personal. Because Salem said it would help Hazel. Has it?
We don’t get an answer to that, instead going back up to Weiss’ room in Schnee Manor where she’s reapplying Nora’s bandages. Still mostly unconscious, Nora mutters “Now what... am I good for?” I can think of a great many things Nora is useful for outside of her great strength and straightforward approach to combat, but its a damn shame no one has actually bothered to tell her that before now. Before Weiss has a chance to offer any, Blake and Ruby enter the room with cups of tea. I’m not ashamed to admit I initially thought they were hot chocolate cuz I’m not used to tea being that sort of amber color. Weiss admits that she’s done the most her limited medical knowledge can offer, and Nora needs more than that. Blake expresses her concern for the other half of their group, but almost slips up and says... well we’re just not sure, but we like to assume she was gonna say she’s especially worried for someone in particular. The shippers can fill that in how they like. Their moping is interrupted by May entering the room with some less than stellar news from Fiona and the others down in Mantle. They haven’t seen Yang’s team in a while, and with everything going to hell like this a search party is at the bottom of the priority list. She’s about ready to get back on the airship and head back down to Mantle, but Weiss protests and this sparks a debate. May points out that Mantle doesn’t have the luxury of the Atlas military protecting them so Ruby’s group and the Happy Huntresses are the only thing keeping the people safe from the chaos of the invasion, but Weiss argues that there are still people suffering up her and I have to agree. Just because a police force is around doesn’t automatically mean they’re doing the best job of keeping everyone safe. But Weiss pushes the wrong button by asking about May’s family. The Marigold’s were ashamed of the way their “son” acted, wanting to help the suffering down in Mantle. And so May would no longer let herself be called that, she became a woman proudly working as part of the Happy Huntresses for the service of the people. She kicked her Marigold name and reputation to the curb and her cousin Henry stepped up as the socialite snob instead.
This cannot have been an easy scene for Kdin to record, but we all need to give a standing ovation for her performance in it. Powerful words that likely hit very close to home. What a queen.
May is sure Weiss gets where she’s coming from with their families casting them aside in favor of a more obedient heir, her being replaced by Whitley after her outburst at the charity concert. Weiss wants to voice her disagreement, but May questions whose side she’s on in all this. Blake doesn’t like that, they’ve heard this talk about taking sides before and judging by her tone she’s none too happy to be hearing it now. May is about to give her a strongly worded piece of her mind too but Ruby stands between them to remind everyone there are no sides. All of humanity needs to be united, and Salem is the one creating the tension that’s dividing them so their real enemy is her. The only question now is how do they get out of this problem? The solution might be hiding just around the corner, literally. Whitley has been listening from behind the door, and he seems a little inspired.
Meanwhile Oz seems to have just finished telling Salem’s dark cursed backstory to Hazel, and it seems her final plan really is to have the world so divided and ruined that when the gods are brought back to judge it they will deem Remnant a failure and destroy it and hopefully her with it. Hazel seems less than inclined to believe this story though, he still holds a damn hard grudge over his sister. Oz is getting nowhere so Oscar asks to be put back in the lead, and so he is just as Hazel is about to wallop them again. Oz is willing to trust him so he can earn Hazel’s trust in return. So he goes right ahead and tells the big guy Jinn’s name and that it’s how you summon her for one last question. Hazel seems mad that Oscar gave up the info so effortlessly after all that, but Oscar asserts that he’s not telling Salem. He’s telling Hazel, and letting him decide what to do with the knowledge and the chance to gain deeper knowledge still. Pretty rad strategy. Wouldn’t you know it though, Emerald is still listening outside the door and heard everything. She goes to tell Mercury, but he’s busy packing a duffel bag for a trip to Vacuo. Guess Salem doesn’t need him here right now so we’ll get to see him again in Volume 9 or 10. He’s less than convinced that they should try and use this behind the scenes knowledge to go against Salem, cuz if Hazel couldn’t do it then why would he change his tune now? And why would they risk their necks too? It’s not like Oz was telling the truth, right? Salem isn’t really gonna destroy the world! But the teens get another surprise lecture from Uncle Tyrian: Of course Salem plans to destroy Remnant!! You couldn’t tell from the start? Everything about her screams end of the world, and it is beautiful! And if you thought she’d do anything different then you must really be crazy... Bold worlds from a psychotic serial killer, but we already know he’s unhinged. Mercury doesn’t much like getting this rude awakening though, especially since Tyrian will be the one going with him to Vacuo. Merc and Em share one last sad look, but he’s made his bed and now he’s resigned to lie in it. Bye bye Mercury, see you after Emerald has probably switched sides and will have to face you as an enemy...
Speaking of ships soaring through the air, we go back to the Ace Ops and YJR heading for Monstra. Yang is protesting the bombing plan since Oscar is still inside, but Vine insists they can’t afford to wait and risk further death and destruction. Jaune offers a side plan, send the three inside Monstra ahead of the bombing squad to scope things out for them and try to rescue Oscar while they’re doing recon. Marrow is shocked that they’d be willing to go into the literal belly of the beast alone, but Yang asserts he’d do the same for one of his teammates if they were in this position, right? He doesn’t have an answer for that. Elm argues that trading their lives just for one other person is stupid, but amazingly it is Ren who objects. Oscar is their friend, and they will do whatever it takes for someone they care about like that. A real turnaround from his attitude of closing himself off emotionally, but I guess he’s realizing how ridiculous it sounds coming from other people? Harriet gets out of her seat to do what she does best and start talking down to someone as naïve and wrong. Feelings are stupid, the job is what matters. When you lose someone you just replace them and forget about them. We find out that Winter is indeed meant to be the new leader instead of Clover, and before Marrow there was apparently a member of the team named Tortuga, but Ren is not about to let anyone tell him that someone is replaceable. You don’t say that to Team JNPR, and we definitely don’t say that about Ren... Not now. In his outrage, Ren suddenly finds... clarity. He starts seeing the world a little differently. In less cryptic terms, his Semblance seems to have evolved and he now sees people’s emotions swirling around them as colorful bursts of flower petals. Harriet is actually furious about losing Clover, she’s lying to herself and trying to suppress her feelings. She does not like being called out like that, but the rest of the squad needs to be put on blast. As opposed to Hare’s red petals Marrow is surrounded by blue that I guess would mean sadness or depression, Elm has orange and some red, and Vine is clouded with green. The meanings of the last two are a little less clear, but they’re all definitely feeling some strong things that they’re trying to hide under a calm façade. This is the reason the Ace Ops lost to RWBY, they’re all held back by trying not to connect with each other so unity and team bonds never formed. Elm does not like being told she’s a loser because she won’t make friends, but at least it’s a a reaction, which means he’s absolutely right. She’s about to deck Ren in the face but Winter steps in to get everyone calmed down. She looks these three “fugitives” over, and makes a decision. She’s going to trust her sister’s friends. They will get the teens in close and give them a small window of time to try and get in and out before the Ace Ops need to bring in the payload and blow it all away. Harriet is pissed Winter is giving these “traitors” a chance, and questions her decision thusly. But you’re outranked, you boob, and you can’t do a damn thing to stop her from showing human decency. They have a very tight schedule to attempt this rescue, and Jaune accepts that fully. The three get uncuffed and are given their weapons back as the ship lands at the front lines. Ren tries to appeal to the doubt and regret he can see in Marrow to get him to switch sides while the getting’s good. Marrow wants to, but he sticks to the job for now. Yang and Jaune head out first, while Ren lingers to tell Winter he knows she doesn’t want to be a part of all this anymore either, and we see a rainbow of many emotional petals around her head. Either she has a balance of many emotions in check and is the most levelheaded of the Ace Ops, or she has the most emotions repressed and her mind is a tempest of feelings that aren’t being addressed and may spell her end... take your pick.
As this militant Schnee considers her options, we go homeward to see Weiss and the others heading for the front door. May isn’t keen to stay her any longer than needed, and the kids need to make a choice about where she’s dropping them off. Either they go to the front lines here in Atlas or back down to Mantle to help with the chaos there. No other options, and especially no breaking their jailbirds out for an assist. May doesn’t have the optimism and heroic hope that Ruby still holds dear, she won’t entertain the idea that this can become a complete victory all around. This isn’t that kind of world. Either they help one place, or they help another. And even then, that’s no guarantee wherever they go will be successful at stopping the invasion. It’s very depressing, and it’s on these kids to accept the facts and make the hard decisions. If you take a look at the last few Volumes, Ruby does seem to have a bit of a habit of ignoring the dreadful possibilities/facts in favor of pursuing a hopeful and bold plan that could fix everything immediately so she doesn’t have to cope with reality and actually grieve her mistakes and losses... I’m not saying it makes her a bad character or that she’s wholly wrong for trying to see a bright side whenever possible, just that this is an unhealthy strategy for a leader with so much on her shoulders. But before anyone has time to make a decision right now, there’s a hard knock on the front door. Everyone draws their weapons and approaches slowly, before Weiss cautiously opens the door. In a most definitely welcome surprise, she is greeted by Klein!!! She missed him dearly, and apologizes for whatever fault she had in his being fired, but while cycling through personalities he assures her she has nothing to be sorry for since it’s all Jacques’ fault, the bastard. Turns out, Klein is here to use his medical knowledge to treat Nora. What, didn’t you know all butlers to heroic millionaires have field medic training? Alfred Pennyworth set the gold standard, I dare say~ But of course, Weiss didn’t call him and none of her friends know his number so who told him to come?... Would you believe it, Whitley is responsible and we could not be more proud of him! Weiss certainly is, and she gives him what might be his first genuinely loving hug in years. Klein heads upstairs to begin treatment, while the rest of the group share a hopeful moment. But this silence too comes to a crashing halt as there is further ruckus outside. This time Ruby answers the door, to see a smoking crater in the front driveway. RWB rush outside and kneel at the edge of the crater as the smoke clears. Penny has crash landed, and lies there in a pool of what we can only presume to be her green synthetic blood. All she has the strength left to do is apologize before she passes out and the screen darkens with her. There lies the end for the next 6 weeks, and we were left to panic and speculate all the while. Too bad I’m a lazy bugger who only got this review out now and there’s no tension left before the thrilling continuation comes tomorrow morning. So lets all get one last panicked sleep in before the living nightmares come for our girls! Penny is totally gonna be under Watt’s control, the Hound is coming, it’s all gonna be a huge damn mess... Can’t wait, can you?~

This is a bit longer than I expected, and I'm trying to work on catching up. Sorry it's late. Also, happy Newt day!! Please make requests! I have a prompt list posted below. Message me to be added to a tag list.
- (Y/n) is Your Name, (Y/bff/n) is Your Best Friend's Name, (Y/g/n) is Your Guardian's Name, (Mr/s) is Mr/Mrs, (f/c) is favorite color, (f/f/t) if favorite fruit tree, (f/f) is favorite fruit -
Tumblr media
You turned, "(Y/n)! (Y/n)!" (Y/bff/n) yelled to you. They were sprinting, nearly falling over as they rushed to your side, a small piece of paper tightly grasped in their dominant hand while they waved to you with their other.
And at the sound of your name you turned, coming face to face with the young (blonde/brunette/whatever floats their boat). Sending them a warm smile, you set down your basket of apples.
"What?" You asked as you walked over to meet them next to your tree.
It was a (f/f/t). You got it on your sixth birthday from (G/n). Ever since, it's grown quite tall, and quite strong. You and (Y/bff/n) spent most of your childhood climbing it. That, and throwing (f/f)s at a shank named Gally.
(Y/bff/n) panted for a second, before explaining that the Prince was hosting a ball. They grinned, holding a flyer for proof.
You furrowed your eyebrows, "Okay... remind me why you're telling me this, again? I mean, not to be rude and everything but it's invite only."
"It's a masquerade," (Y/bff/n) prompted. When they noticed you ccouldn't follow their train of thought, they sighed, "We don't have to be invited!"
"But--"
"No "but"'s. We are going." They said. You tried to open your mouth, but they cut you off. "And don't even try to use not having the right outfit as an excuse because I already got you one."
"How?"
(Y/bff/n) smirked, "I have my ways."
You chuckled slightly at them, Of course. "Okay, but even then I still couldn't go. Sorry."
"Why not!?"
"I gotta do stuff...."
(Y/bff/n) raised an eyebrow, "Is that code for 'you're already having a secret affair with the Prince'?"
Your eyes widened, "No! Tha...that's disgusting! You're disgusting!!" You said.
(Y/bff/n) laughed loudly, "Jeez, (Y/n), you should've seen your face. I was kidding then, but now I'm not sure...." You reached over plucked an apple from your tree, and playfully threw an apple at them, which they ducked just in time. "Alright, alright." They said, putting up their hands in surrender. "I'll meet you over at out spot at sundown tonight. Just tell (Mr/s) (Y/g/n) your sleeping over with me." They said, saluting you with two fingers before they left.
You smiled to yourself, and continued picking apples for (Y/g/n)'s pie tonight.
--
You wished (Y/g/n) sweet dreams, and left your house, heading for the woods to where Y/bff/n told you to meet them.
"I'm here!" You shouted, opening the door into your small cottage.
"Oh, (Y/n)!" (Y/bff/n) said. "Try this on!" They shoved a (f/c) (dress/suit) into your arms, and pushed you into the room you made for yourself. They shut the door behind them, and left you in the dark. You lit a candle, and changed out of your old outfit, into your new one. Once you finished, you walked over to a mirror.
The outfit was beautiful. Long, silk sleeves hugged your arms, but not too tightly. The rest of it showed off your curves, and ran down to your legs. The soft fabric felt like a dream compared to your peasant clothes. You knew you couldn't accept this, but man, you wanted to.
"(Y/n)?" (Y/bff/n) called, knocking on the door.
"Yes?" You asked, your voice straining.
"How does it look?"
You twirled around in front of the mirror. "Lovely."
"It fits!?" (Y/bff/n) squealed.
You inhaled slowly, "Yes. Yes, it does."
"May I come in?"
You nodded your head, but soon realized that (Y/bff/n) couldn't see you. "Y-yeah," you said. The doorknob turned, revealing (Y/bff/n), who stood wide-eyed and has dropping to the stone floor below you.
"Shit, you look hot!" They said, causing you to giggle.
"Thank you, but I don't think I can accept this. I-it's too much. I--"
"Shut up, shuck-face. You're going, and you're wearing that. The Prince would be blind if he didn't notice you."
You blushed, "Thank you."
(Y/bff/n) waved it away, "I'm just statin' the truth. Now come on, I need your opinion on my (dress/suit)." You followed (Y/bff/n) out of your room, and into theirs. They rushed over to their cot, and held up two outfits--one a deep burgundy, and one a dark grey, with white accents. You choose the burgundy one. The grey seemed to be too much.
"Great!" Ybffn said. "I'll pick you up next week, at yours."
You sighed, knowing there was no use in protest. You agreed, and wished (Y/bff/n) sweet dreams.
--
The second you walked into the ballroom, you felt self conscious about everything. Was your hair alright? Did your outfit have any wrinkles on it that you missed? What if it actually wasn't a masquerade? (Y/bff/n) picked up on your nervous energy, and reassured you that everything was alright. "Look!" they said, pointing in front of you. "The Prince!"
You turned, and your breath hitched in your throat. His golden hair seemed to shine in the lighting, and his chocolatey eyes squinted under his mask as he smiled, greeting his guests. The black suit he wore only made him look 10x more handsome. And tall. As much as you hated to admit it, you knew you were falling for him. It was obvious he was the main topic of all the kingdoms conversation.
"Huh," (Y/bff/n) said to themselves. "He's not as hot as I expected."
You looked at them funny, "What?!" You asked.
"Everyone always talks about how hot the Prince is, and I gotta say I expected a better looking man. Whatever, though. It's whatever." They said with a shrug. "Ooh!" Their eyes lit up. "Speaking of, don't look behind you. I'm going to go get myself a drink or two." They said.
"Wait, no!" You called. "Don't leave me here." You whispered under your breath.
Someone tapped you on the shoulder. You turned around, Just like you practiced. You told yourself, coming face-to-face with the blond haired, brown eyed Angel himself. Newton.
"Your highness," you said in your best 'princess' voice, bowing slightly. Newton did the same.
"Princess..."
"(Y/n). O-of Arica."
"(Y/n) of Arica," Newton repeated, as if testing it out on his tounge. He smiled warmly, "How are you doing?" New asked, reaching his elbow to the side, urging you to take it. You did, and responded with an:
"I'm well. How are you?"
"I'm fine." Newton responded. "Uh, please forgive me, but I don't remember where Arica is. Could you point it out on a map?"
"Of course, " You said, internally panicking as you walked over to a mapping room with the Prince. "It's right... here." You said, pointing towards the southernmost coast of an island.
Newton looked at it closely, but nodded his head in acceptance. "I've never heard of it." He said.
"We mostly to keep to ourselves," You said. Nice, (Y/n).
Once again, Newton nodded. "I'll have to visit sometime," he said, leading you out of the mapping room and into the courtyard.
"Sure," you said, knowing this would be your only time you'd talk to the Prince. Really, it'd be the only time you'd talk to any prince.
"So..." The Prince said, kicking rocks below his feet, an annoying habit he's picked up over the years.
"How is 'the maze'?" You asked Newton, earning a small smile from him.
"I think it's well. But honestly, I don't know. I've been thinking of traveling there some time, just to see the people in there, but father doesn't approve. Sonya's done it a few times. She disguises herself as a peasant, sneaking out every once in a while. I'd love to join her, but mother and father keep a close watch on me. Bloody keep reminding me that I need to act like a king, and whatever." he said.
"So why don't you just leave one night? I've done it," Newton raised an eyebrow.
"Really?" He asked, eyes lighting up.
"Yes. I like to think that if you're going to rule a kingdom, you need to know the people in it."
"Exactly!" The Prince said. "That's my thought, too!" You looked at the prince, smiling. "Okay," he said, turning to the right, leading you outside of the courtyard. "You see that?" Your eyes followed to where Newton pointed, at the horizon of his kingdom.
"Yeah,"
"Pretty, right?"
"Beautiful." You've seen sunsets in Glade many times, but never like this; in front of a castle, holding onto a prince's arm.
Newton smiled at you, and you did the same.
"So what's it like?" You asked him.
"What's what like?"
"The pressure of almost being king. Having everyone look up to you, people rushing to your service every time you need it? Trying to find a queen?" You winked, elbowing him lightly.
Newton pressed his lips together, into a thin line. "Bloody hell. I suppose it's the same as almost becoming queen," he said. "All honestly, I like to do things for myself, and having people bow down to my every time I walk up to them is a little awkward. I can't really find the right woman to rule by my side, and that stresses me out a bit as well. Coronation is coming up quickly, and father's arguments don't help. He wants me to be with Harriet, Sonya's best friend, but I don't know. I mean, she's great and all, but I just.... "
"I get it," you lied. "My father wants me to find someone to rule besides me as well."
"Really?" Newton asked.
No. "Yeah. He wanted me to meet you, in hopes of uniting out kingdoms, or whatever."
Newton smiled, "Well, how does that make you feel?"
"I... don't know. I mean, you seem like a wonderful person and everything, but I dont want to marry someone I just met. No offense."
Newton out his hands up in surrender, "None taken. I feel the same way."
You smiled, "Shall we go now then?"
Newton looked up at you, "Pardon me?"
"Go. Like, into the village. See the people there. I could help you--"
"Newt!" A high-pitched voice called. She sounded very formal, and you'd be lying to say it didn't crush you inside.
Newton turned, "Yes?" He asked. You turned as well, finding a girl with blonde hair in front of you two, leaning against a fountain. She reminded you of the prince. In looks, at least.
"Mother wants you to meet Arabella. She's here." The woman said. You were surprised to hear mockery in her voice when she mentioned the princess Arabella. That was not very royal of her.
Newton sighed, turning to you. "I'm very sorry, but I must go." He said. "It was wonderful talking to you. Will I see you again?"
You shook your head, "Most likely not, your majesty. I must be going."
Newton frowned, "At least let me walk you to the door, yes?"
You nodded slowly. "Yes, but I must find (Y/bff/n) first." You said.
--
"And... that was it."
"That was it?! That was it?!" (Y/bff/n) said, rather disappointed.
"Well, yeah... we went to find you. W-what did you think was going to happen?"
"A kiss?!"
You snorted, "He's the prince."
"So?"
"We're peasants...? I-I don't understand."
(Y/bff/n) rolled their eyes, "You would if you'd have stayed the night with that prince of yours." They said, winking.
"Egh. No! (Y/bff/n)!" You said, turning to face them with a disgusted expression.
"Oh!" (Y/bff/n) said, snapping their fingers milliseconds after their eyes lit up. "I know what you should do! Go to the castle and give him a tour of the city!!"
"Won't he be suspicious that I know the kingdom so well?"
(Y/bff/n) shrugged, "Just tell him you went exploring."
"What about curfew?" You asked.
"Hide." (Y/bff/n) said like it was the obvious answer.
Once again, you rolled your eyes, chuckling.
--
"Thank you," Newton said.
You turned to face him, "Hmm?"
"For getting me out of my castle. Thanks for your help." He said.
You blushed, "Oh. It's... it's good." You said, kicking the rocks below your feet. "Don't mention it."
"So... when do you leave?"
You looked at the prince, confused for a minute. "Oh!" You said, mentally kicking yourself. "E-early this morning... I think. I don't actually know." You said with a sheepish smile.
Newton chuckled, "Really?
"Y-yeah."
"Okay... well we should make our time together count then.
You smiled, quickly nodding your head. "Alright, your highness. Let's go!"
Newton giggled, chasing after you.
"Bloody hell, (Y/n). You sure seem to know your way around." He panted next to you.
"Uh... yeah. I-um... I explored for a bit before I came to get you." You said.
"Smart." Newton mumbled. You stopped suddenly, holding out your arm to stop the prince as well.
"What? What is it--"
You quickly shushed him, holding a finger to your lips. You pushed him back against a wall, waiting for footsteps to pass. You panted slightly, feeling your heart beat in your neck, and Newton's hot breath against your head.
He smelt good, like maple and autumn. But also spring.
He smiled, looking down at you. You turned around, and tried to hide your blush from him.
"What's wrong, luv?"
"Nothing." You said sharply. "I... uh, let's go. We don't have much time until sunrise."
Newton shrugged, but followed you, towards a small lake.
You started taking off your skirt, but were stopped by the prince.
"Wait! What are you--"
"Relax, I'm wearing my brother's shorts underneath." You said with a chuckle.
Newton blushed deeply, but nodded his head as he watched you unbutton your shirt. You smiled at him, and turned to face the water.
"You coming, your highness?" You asked with a smirk.
Newton sputtered out a 'Yes', stripping down to his boxers before he chased after you.
You screamed, but was soon shoved under water by a familiar set of arms.
Newton.
He laughed, and pulled you up. Followed by you glaring at him, shoving him back.
"Hey!" He chuckled, stumbling back a bit. His pale arms were held up in surrender.
You crossed your arms over your chest and stuck out your bottom lip in a pout.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Newton asked, trying to pull you towards him. You shrugged his touch away. "(Y/n)? C'mon, luv, what's--"
"Aha!" You shouted, jumping onto the prince, and knocking him into the water.
His protests were silence by the water.
"Who's there?!" A voice asked in the distance. Suddenly, a light followed.
You gasped, and pulled Newton under water with you. You felt his eyes on you, but you kept yours on the light until it dissapeared--as well as you could when under water.
When the light left, you shot up, panting. You turned to Newton, who was grinning.
"That was close!" He said.
"Yeah," you nodded your head. "Let's get out of here."
--
Newton grinned, "This was awesome." He said. You turned your head to watch him, admiring the contagious grin that covered his face, and the way his eyes glowed in the light of the sunrise.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." Newton said. "...thank you."
"Of course, your majesty." You said, turning to watch the sunrise.
"You know... you don't have to call me that. Right?"
"What?" You asked, turning to face Newton.
"I mean... call me by my first name. Or Newt."
You looked back to the horizon. "Okay, Newt." You said with a grin.
Newt sighed, "So this is it, huh?"
"Mmh?" You faced the prince again.
"You know, the last time we meet."
"Oh... yeah." You said sadly.
"But it doesn't have to be." Newton said, reaching out to grasp your hand. "I mean, it's obvious the feeling's mutual, so why don't I court you? I know it's rushed, and I'm sorry, but--"
"Newton," you cut him off. "I'd love that... but I can't." You said. Newt's face fell, and it broke your heart.
"Why not?" He mumbled.
"I... I'm sorry. We have to go." You said.
"But I--" You gave Newt a look, "Okay." He finally said, standing up.
You reluctantly followed. I'm sorry. I love you.

Cross my heart and hope to die
I don't need another guy
To fight my battles, to overshadow me
Don't ya know I'm dangerous?
Fire burnin' in my blood
I got this handled, I don't need rescuin'
Being the daughter of Aurora and King Phillip was tough, or at least tougher than others thought it would be.
Always sit up straight, never slouch, never sit with your legs apart, never curse, never lash out, always be kind, always smile, never spit, Never show blemishes, never be over a certain weight.
Always be perfect
….then again….those were the expectations of the granddaughter of Leah, mother of Aurora.
Your parents had different expectations.
Now how to protect yourself, know how to wield a sword, know how to shoot an arrow, know how to fight on horseback, know when to strike and when to stand back, know when to act like a lady and when to act like a knight.
Be sad, be angry, be happy, be snarky, be you.
Luckily you had never stuck on your grandmother's teachings as your sister did. you had grown in your father's teachings of the sword.
As the younger daughter of Phillip and Aurora, your grandmother paid less attention to you, since she was paying attention to Audrey, who had prince Ben at her side, the awaiting heir to Auradon.
You relished in the time you had away from the aging spiteful EX-queen.
You can call me a princess all you like
'Cause you love to keep me helpless by your side
But that ain't what I want, I'ma show you
I'ma show you
You tried to help your sister grow her confidence within the family to step away from your grandmother, but Audrey was deep in her claws, unable to break away from the poison.
It hurt watching your sister, once the brightest girl to be around, slowly become a snake, sneering behind backs and teasing those who didn’t “match” up to her.
You hoped one day that she could break free of your grandmother's influence.
Though during the point the first four vks came along, you saw the sliver of the sister you once knew, when Ben “broke up” with her.
She had come to your room after the game, crying her eyes out, jumping into your arms, and sobbing her heart out to you.
“i-I thought we were-I thought” she had cried, burying her face into your shoulder.
While you held no grudge against Mal for her mother's actions against your own (unlike your grandmother), you weren’t on the best terms with Mal for a while after that.
During cotillion, your sister had gone off with your fairy godmothers, while you stayed behind to help Jane plan for the grand event. Uma, the daughter of Ursula, had caught your attention as she appeared.
She had spelled Ben to free the children still on the isle, you mentally commended her on her act, through the way she went about it was a bit interesting and too similar to Mals way of doing things that it left a bad taste in your mouth.
Though it got the job done, with the documents for another 4 vks to come to Auradon being worked on soon after cotillion.
How to treat me like a queen (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Boy, you better bow down on your knees
Can I get a "Yes, your majesty"?
Uma's face had been…interesting as you found her on the western shores of Ursula’s strait, holding food and a bundle of warmer clothes for her.
“why?” Uma had asked, shrugging on the dark blue hoodie and crossing her arms, staring down the box of warm food in your hands.
“because it will be cold the next few nights, and I'm not going to let you starve if I can help it” you responded, face blank as you held out the food to her.
She started at you for a moment, before nodding, taking the food and slowly eating it, before her eyes brightened and she soon devoured the entire meal.
You smiled and handed her a map of the surrounding area “be safe, there is a cave that keeps away the ocean draft and hardly ever gets cold or wet.
Uma watched you with curious eyes as you walked away that night, surprised after each day when you continued to return to her spot, holding new clothes and food for her.
Within the next year and a half, you and Uma had grown close, telling you of her boys, Harry Hook, and Gil, her best friends and those whom she trusted with her deepest secrets and life.
You decided you would try to convince Ben to get Uma's boys off.
Vk day came around the corner, Uma listening as you told her the new vks that would be coming to Auradon.
She brightened a bit as the Smee twins came up.
“Skipper and Sterling, good, Harriet probably made them sign up, otherwise they would have never tried.”
“do you think Harry and Gil will sign up?”
“dunno, probably, to find me at least, but I know Mal and her goons would never choose them, as long as they are loyal to me, Mal sees them as her enemy”
You hummed, remembering Mal's insistence on the search for Uma. The irony that one of their own was helping hide a villain.
“then let's hope one of the other ones can look past Mal's rivalry with you and let others look on to a new path”
Uma snorted, shaking her head “Evie would be the only one to do that, Mals boys, especially Jay, are too wrapped up in her delusions”
You sighed and nodded, crossing your arms as you stared across the moonlit sea at the smog-covered isle. “well figure something else out then” Uma grinned at you.
“optimistic aren’t you?”
You grinned back “someone has to be”
Only three days later, as you were running late to Janes birthday and after hearing about your sister's sleeping spell, you grabbed your sword that had been enchanted by your godmothers, the same enchantments as your father's sword, and ran out to look for any sign of your sister or the vks. you came across sleeping bodies just outside the dorms, looking around with wide eyes you hovered above a sleeping student, waving your hand in their face and snapping.
“Audrey what did you do” you whispered, leaning back and crossing your arms, looking around the courtyard.
“they’re asleep” you perked up and spun around, seeing the vks entering through the opposite pathway of the garden. “all of them” Evie looked around with worried eyes, her mouth dropping open in a gasp as she saw you “(y/n)!” she yelled, running towards you at surprising speed considering her heels “you're awake!”
“y-yeah?” you yelped, wrapping your arms around her as she slammed into you “why wouldn’t I be?”
“well” Evie stuttered “Audrey-the scepter-she-nevermind, im glad you’re okay!” you nodded slowly, peeking around Evie and spotting a snickering Uma.
You rose your brow at her and she shook her head, nodding towards the two taller boys looking around the courtyard.
One was taller, with dark-colored hair and a long dark red vest-jacket, black faded and worn pants with black boots and a silver hook in his left hand. Harry Hook, son of Captain James Hook, Uma's first mate.
The other was a slightly shorter teen male with longer blonde hair hidden by a dark orange cap, a short-sleeved leather shirt, and dark orange-yellow pants with dark brown boots. Gil, son of Gaston, her quartermaster.
Her boys.
The darker haired one, Harry, turned to you, locking his bright Blue eyes with yours, you felt a shock run through your body, your breath stopping as you stared into his eyes.
Harry felt his breath stop, watching as the girl with alluring (e/c) eyes stared back at him. He couldn’t look away, something holding him in place.
“guys!” Harry felt the hold release as the girl looked away and to Evie, who was gesturing to a statue of a girl in a band uniform "Hanna got turned to stone!”
So treat me like a queen (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Boy, you better bow down on your knees
Can I get a "Yes, your majesty"?
Mal had taken over the group, ordering to head to Bens castle to look for him. You walked silently beside Uma as you traveled on foot to the castle, too occupied in your thoughts to notice Harry continue to stare at you.
He couldn’t figure out why and how you somehow stopped him in his tracks, unable to breathe or move.
The only other person that had done that to him…was Uma.
“Ben!” Mal called out, worried eyes flying about the hallways “Ben!!”
“he might not be here Mal” you offered, raising your brow as Celia sighed and tossed in other (depressing) option.
“or turned to stone” Evie covered the young girl's mouth and shook her head.
Eyes on me like I'm a prize
But you better recognize
I'm not your angel 'cause I belong to me
Uma frowned at the slashes across the wall, following the slash with her hand and calling out to the group “hey!” Uma turned, pointing a the slashes that had destroyed the map hanging on the wall “What's this?”
“um” Carlos muttered, his eyes widening in fear, as walked over to the slashes and turned to mal “any chance this was here before?”
Mal bit her lip and shook her head a bit, continuing forward after dude, calling out for ben.
“Ben!” she opened a set of double doors, leading to a room of knights lining the walls “Ben?!”
Harry let out a whistle and stepped around you, walking towards a suit and trailing his fingers across the blade. Jay leaned towards him, whispering in his ear, sneering at the pirate.
Harry just smirked and walked off after Uma.
You followed close behind Uma, feeling something off about the room, like someone was watching you.
As Mal and Uma argued,  you and Harry glanced at each other as the knight in front of you started to move, you squinted at the pink smoke pouring from its helmet.
“guys?”
“I believe we’re being challenged” Harry tried, Uma holding up her hand to silence him.
“Let's split up and look for Audrey” Uma suggested, raising her brows as mal denied it and held out her hand. “that makes absolutely no sense, unless you give me the ember she's going to spell you!”
You and Harry pressed your lips together and looked at each other with wide eyes as the knight moved again “GUYS!” you yelled, gesturing to the knight as the girls jumped and looked at you.
“we ‘ave a bit of a situation ‘ere” Harry growled, glaring up at the empty suit of armor that began to move as if it was being worn.
“you like a prince mal? Well, how bout a knight in shining armor….or knights”
You can call me a princess all you like
'Cause you love to keep me helpless by your side
But that ain't what I want, I'ma show you
I'ma show you
You quickly backed away, Uma holding onto your arm as you ran towards the doors when two knights blocked the way, Celia standing behind them eyes wide with fear.
You groaned and turned, spotting a set of swords on the wall. You maneuvered around Jay and Mal and grabbed them, handing them to Evie and Carlos as you backed into the group, eyeing down the knights.
“Let's do this” you muttered, gasping as Harry stepped in front of you and pushed you back. “stay back princess, wouldn’t want yeh getting hurt” you felt your brow twitch in agitation, but ignored him, watching the knights as they surrounded you. Uma hopped down beside you and Harry, smirking at the knights, waving her fingers tauntingly.
You sighed and drew your sword, feeling the enchantments run through the hilt. You took a step forward, making Harry twitch, and in blinding speed, you knocked several helmets off the knight's heads, the suits crumbling to the floor with a loud crash.
“Did anybody else forget that (y/n)s a genius with a sword?” Carlos chuckled, watching as you took down three more knights with only a sidestep and a flourish of your sword.
“huh?” Harry asked, yelping as a hammer swiped at his head, Jay appearing behind it and striking its shoulder, sending it to the side.
“she takes more after her dad doesn’t she?” Jay supplied, grabbing Harry's arm and forcing him to his feet, blocking another swipe as Harry nodded behind him.
How to treat me like a queen (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Boy, you better bow down on your knees
Can I get a "Yes, your majesty"?
You glanced at Uma, who was being held down by four knights, and bolted over to her, half leaping in the air and drawing your sword down, slashing through the metal of their arms like butter and colliding into Uma and half dragging her across the room, looking back at the knights as Audrey's scream of frustration rang through the room.
“holy shit” Uma muttered in your ear, grabbing your shoulder to stabilize herself “how come you never told me you could do this shit?” “you never asked” you laughed, flipping your sword and turning, smirking at the knights who were trying, and failing, to sneak up behind you.
“still would have been nice to know” Uma snorted, running around you and slashing at one of the knights, backing away and behind you as you ran forward and swung your sword around, slicing off their helmets, side flipping as the crashed to the ground.
“Uma?” Harry panted, sliding next to her and smiling at you, who was blocking another knight from slashing at Evie. “can we keep her?”
Uma laughed and nodded “yes, yes we can keep her”
“awesome” Harry breathed, biting his lip, watching you spin on your heel and unarm a knight before spinning into a squat, slashing off their knees and smirking as they crashed to the ground.
So treat me like a queen (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Boy, you better bow down on your knees
Can I get a "Yes, your majesty"?
You pouted and kicked the boot of a fallen knight, all that fight only for them to be defeated by a simple spell and some dance moves.
The boring way to end a battle if anyone asked you.
You sighed and cracked your neck, sheathing your sword and walking over to the squabbling VKs. “what's next?” you asked aloud, rolling your eyes as Mal assumed you were talking to her.
“we’re going to the museum to look for any clues”
“there's no point to that though! We know it's Audrey who took the crown and scepter, logically we should go to her room or something and look for any clues there!” Uma pushed, gritting her teeth as Mal shook her head.
“Mal” you sighed, dropping your shoulders “you don’t want to hear this but Uma's right, going to the museum is pointless unless we're going for the wand or something, I say us girls go to Audrey's and the boys look for ben”
Uma nodded, staring Mal down, who glared back. Evie clapped her hands together, making the two jump “that sounds perfect, lets meet at my place in, two hours okay?”
The rest of the group nodded, you walked up to Celia and gently pushed her to start moving as the vks started waling out of the room to set on their missions.
Harry glanced back at you as he walked alongside Gil, watching as Uma turned to you and whispered something, smirking as your shoulders bounced.
He turned back sighing as he listened to the dog talk.
Yeah
You can call me a princess all you like
‘Cause you love to keep me helpless by your side
But that ain’t what I want, I’ma show you
You walked alongside Uma and Harry as they separated from the other vks to look for Celia and Gil. “you coming with us or something lass?” Harry asked aloud, raising his brows as you shook your head.
“no, I’ll help you find Gil and Celia and then help you get where you need to go, then I’ll come back to help my sister get her head back, that scepter is warping her mind and I won't lose her” you stated, voice strong with conviction.
Uma and Harry glanced at each other before Uma turned to you, going to speak when Mal suddenly ran up, yelling out Uma's name.
“uma-uma! Wait! Please wait!” Uma glared at the purple-haired girl as she skidded to a stop “I need your help, we have a chance if we work together!”
Uma sneered at her “your friends kick you to the curb?” Mal's face said it all “good”
“Ben saw something in you, and-today Uma I saw it too! You care! Uma, you care about everybody!” Uma rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and staring at Mal blankly “and Auradon is worth saving!”
“and my sister isn’t?” you sneered, Mal suddenly turned to you “you know what the scepter is like, it poisons the mind Mal, it's taken over my sister, and because of you, I might not get her back, because of you, she turned to something dark to get revenge…You know” you cocked your hip, glaring at the wide-eyed Mal
“she never got an apology from you or Ben, you love spelled Ben for the wand, had him “break up” with Audrey by declaring his “love” for you, do you know how many nights I spent with Audrey, holding her in my arms because she couldn’t sleep she was crying so hard, crying so hard she threw up?
You are not the only one with feelings Mal, Audrey did love ben, my grandmother screwed up what love meant to Audrey but she did love him, and you took that away and never apologized. So you know what Mal” you got in her face, glaring into her shiny green eyes “you deserve whatever Audrey does to you, and when I get back, I will save Audrey myself, because it seems I'm the only one who actually fucking cares about her”
You shoulder checked Mal and walked off, Mal desperately calling your name. “you talk pretty….but they’ve already made up their minds” Harry sighed, following Uma as she pushed past Mal and followed after you.
How to treat me like a queen (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Boy, you better bow down on your knees
Can I get a "Yes, your majesty"?
You grinned at Uma as she walked across the bridge from the isle to Auradon, Harry, and Gil at her side.
“Welcome to Auradon Uma” you laughed as Uma leapt into your arms, spinning her around for a moment to keep your balance “officially at least” Uma rolled her eyes as she pulled back, taking your hand and pulling you off to dance, Harry, following close behind.
“yeah yeah, thanks for everything by the way”
You hummed, raising your brow “for giving me food, clothes, all that stuff for the past year”
“so yer the one who took care of the cap’n all this time huh?” Harry asked, looking to Uma for confirmation.
“I guess?” you shrugged, smirking as Mal turned to you with wide eyes “uh I think Mal heard that one?”
“who cares” Uma chuckled, grabbing your hand and pulling you toward her, Harry following her lead and grabbing your other hand “care to dance with us pirates princess?”
“it would be my pleasure” you bowed, giggling as Harry spun you and held you to his side, Uma laughing along and letting him spin her with his other hand.
So treat me like a queen (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Boy, you better bow down on your knees
Can I get a "Yes, your majesty"?

I rewatched RWBY vol 7 and compiling a list of things I don’t like or am confused by with in the volume.
This includes everything from main plot points, side story arcs, and character designs. They are all my opinions.
Go below the cut to read the list, since it’s so long.
- When did Qrow give up drinking exactly? They never said anything until the back of the truck scene.
-No relapses. I know the volume was only 13 episodes. But giving up drinking is hard, and Qrow had it bad. The most temptation he faced was being offered a drink at a party and the way he turned it down was too easy for someone who just gave up drinking. Did CRWBY not do their research on rehab? I, and I’m sure a lot of other Qrow stans, would have loved to see them at least touch on the subject.
-Ace Ops introduction. They come all the way to Mantle to arrest them and then just hand them off to two random soldiers instead of bringing Team RWBY and Co. in themselves. They could have gotten the kids and Qrow up there faster if they had all gone together. I know it adds to the drama of the Ironwood meeting, but still.
-Ace Ops Hair. Marrow is the only one with a valid hairstyle.Elm and Vine get a pass because even though their hair is super basic, it works for their characters. Harriet and Clover are the two Ace Ops where I really hate their hair style. Hair doesn’t naturally stand up the way Harriet’s does and I hate her short Mohawk thing going on. I don’t even know what to call Clover’s hair, all I can say is that it’s bad.
- Marrow and Vine’s skin color. Like, Why does Marrow look greyish-blue? I know literally zero people who look like that. That ain’t natural. One the same note, I feel like I should mention Vine’s skin color. This one doesn’t bother me as much, but still. I know CRWBY makes their characters pale, but Vine is as white as a sheet of paper.
-Ironwood and Qrow hug. You cannot convince me that James would actually hug someone, especially initiate the freaking hug.
-Jaune’s new haircut. This has been something I hated since the new volume premiered and we saw it for the first time. It looks like a bunch of bananas and I want his fluffy hair back.
-The Moms flirting with Jaune. He’s 18, you have children. Really, what the hell.
-The way they introduced Robyn and her Happy Huntresses. I’m not talking about when that dude mentioned them in the airship, I’m talking about when they first appeared on screen. Robyn is a good person, she wants to change Mantle for the better, but she’s introduced trying to it illegally. I mean, she’s running for council, and she had a really good chance of winning. I know she wanted to help as soon as possible, but did she really have to do it illegally by stopping shipments? After the election is more understandable, but before?
-What was Willow Schnee doing in Jacques’ office? It felt like CRWBY just inserted her there to let us meet Weiss’s mom. I mean, they made it work, but I can’t be the only one wondering what she was doing in her husband’s private office. She couldn’t just be drinking, right?
-Why wasn’t Robyn handed the position of Councilwoman when Jacques was arrested? I mean, the Council knows that she was supposed to win, that she technically won. And Jacques can fit back when he’s under arrest, especially if he’s being convicted of treason and assisting a murderer. It would have made sense to give her the seat, even if it wasn’t a ceremonious moment, she definitely deserved it.
-Tyrian vs. the birds. (Robyn, Clover, Qrow). If the birds were taking Tyrian from Mantle to Atlas, which is floating right about Mantle, why would they need to cross the Tundra?
-Episode 12. Do I even need to say anything about it? I don’t know a single person who enjoys watching episode 12. There are already so many posts about everything wrong with episode 12, I don’t really need to go over it again. Let’s just say that it is all kinds of messed up.
-One thing I will say about Episode 12 is: where the fuck did Tyrian go? He’s in the middle of the Tundra, with no shelter around. But when the military comes to pick up Qrow after the fight (you know what fight I’m talking about), he’s nowhere nearby. Did Tyrian teleport or magically disappear? Seriously, what is that about?
-Blood. This is about Clover and Winter, and how we saw more blood in two episodes than we have in the entire season. One thing RWBY has always prided itself on is being a family friendly, blood free show. That all went out the window in the last two episodes in vol 7. Not only did we see blood, but it was a lot of blood.
-Ren’s personal story arc. Why is it necessary that he needs to doubt himself so much that he pushes Nora of all people away? What does it bring to the story but angst. I mean, I love angst, but there was already a lot of it in this volume without adding Ren’s personal pain into it.
-Marrow’s wasted potential. I mean, he’s a faunus, working in a military position, and who obviously doesn’t agree with everything the government does and allows. I mean, Marrow couldn’t even look Team RWBY in the eyes when they stood up against Ironwood, when all of the other Ace Ops defended Ironwood. He stayed silent. He looks so sad having to arrest the girls, it’s pretty clear that this is not what he wants. CRWBY could have used that to make a really good side plot, but instead they just kinda erased Marrow’s personality and made him do whatever the rest of the Ace Ops were doing. Honestly, I could make this point it’s own post, and maybe I will later.
-The Staff of Creation. Why is it in the intro if they don’t even show it in the actual volume? It’s mentioned a few times, and yeah, it’s the all important relic, but it was just in the intro to remind us that it existed.
__________________________________________
That’s a lot to take in. This took me about a week to sit on and think about. The original list was a lot longer, and a lot picker, breaking apart every little moment in the show. But I shorted it to 18 notes, leaving only the ones I felt strongly about. Please feel free to add onto this list or DM me/send me an ask if you want to ask anything about my list.

Can we get a what if femme Harry met Starscream first??!!
Ooh now that’s a unique scenario!
I’ve already stated in previous posts that I wouldn’t do a baby femme Harry just because the main additions to the story would be childbride based almost exclusively (and I doubt that’s the kinda fun we want here) so I’ll be borrowing from the one shot femme Harry PA au I’m working on and already posted an excerpt from as my base.
(Warning for some adult language)
Adult Harry traveling the world post Deathly Hallows investigates the dam, poor thing just couldn’t help but attract the attention of the Allspark with that Allspark-shaped hole in her soul where a horcrux once sat.
Adult Harry isn’t child-sized, though unusually small at about Jazz’s height and seeker-slim. The Allspark cannibalizes itself for the extra parts, making her main armor a pretty gold and freckled with dark sigils.
She’s been put in a much larger box because the scientists aren’t sure if she’s like the cube that just melted or a threat like the NBE-01 seeing as she’s missing weapons, and that’s when our favorite egomaniac comes cruising overhead.
He’s just minding his own business, scouting the area his intelligence said might be housing the cube after they’d hacked into the fleshbag government database.
That’s when he heard it.
Blasting across all channels from a tinny comm unit less than a mile away, loud and clumsy almost to the point of incoherency, and absolutely riddled in obscenities.
A bot down below was screaming and cursing in blind rage, Starscream almost veered into a parking garage so distracting was the savagery.
He wasn’t familiar with half the language being used but some things were universal.
-and when I sodding get out of this Merlin-foresaken box, holy shit how am I back in a box- I’m going to rip out your cocks off and stuff them back down your throats and then I’m going to shove those guns so far up your asses they’ll be peeking out of your slimy mouths- I swear on Dumbledore’s grave you have no idea who you’re messing with but when you find out-
-Report your designation.- Starscream looped back around, he just had to know what the mouthy creature was screeching about.
-Who the hell are you?- The mech shot back, tones shrill.
-You are speaking to Lord Starscream, leader of the Decepticons. State your designation.-.
-A lord, huh? Just gets better and better. Harry, or Harriet, I guess. You another poor bastard stuck in here?-
The following conversation would be pretty insufferable. Preening, terrible explanations, raging egos and just plain raging. Dumbass Starscream might not figure out he’s not talking to a high pitched guy for a while, Harry wouldn’t have a clue about what’s going on and is pissed.to high heaven that she’s caught and being frozen in pieces by curious scientists.
They would also both be, on some probably unhealthy level, inexplicably entertained by each other.
He would be convinced to help out, if only because all this bizarre information on the Allspark is interesting and the spunky possibly insane mech he’d just met was quick witted and totally unfamiliar.
Thundercracker, a little bemused that Starscream made a friend so quickly, helps out and together they blast a hole in the dam and don’t have enough time to properly absorb that the Allspark they found is a melted empty box and the seeker right next to it can’t fly.
When they’re in the clear, though, well past the cities with only rubble where the dam stood (and Megatron quietly thawing unbeknownst to the three), they land in a spray of sand and spin on Harry.
What the frag was that? He was going to shout, but the words stalled in his synthesizer.
Harry stared back, defiant, on guard. Her wings flared against the dying sunlight, her peds sure and struts low, ready to move. No weapons but a luxurious looseness in her posture spoke of strength and danger.
Glittering, shining like she’d stolen the sun’s radiance for herself. Deep, bold golds only highlighted by religious scripture dotting her like poetry. Stunning, a predator that warned with color, delicious like the finest treasure plundered from rich planets.
He’d never seen such beautiful green optics before…
“When- when you said you didn’t know how to fly I didn’t think it was that bad,” Thundercracker vented. He was aiming for nonchalant but his wings were hitching higher to properly show off their width.
Harry wasn’t paying attention, still honed in on Starscream and his reaction.
Right, Primus, he needed to say something.
“You have a lot to learn if you’re to join the Decepticons,” He managed eventually.
Like a switch, the caution fell away. There wasn’t a shred of hesitation in her when she straightened up, stony mask crumbling under a soft, open smile and teasing optics.
Starscream’s energon pump was definitely failing, but he’d offline before he reacted.
“And I suppose you’ll have to teach me?” She sneered, arrogant, gorgeous.
“Consider yourself blessed to have my wisdom so easily available to you. I look forward to your efforts to repay me.”
She snickered, just as she had during the quiet moments keeping in touch with her, plotting the break in. She’d laughed at every other sentence, just as eager to disrespect him as she was to praise him. So oddly playful in a way Starscream only witnessed in the closest of trines (his own included).
“Personal robot lessons from you, hm?” She cooed, sickly sachrine and needle-sharp “maybe I should go back and take my chances with the scientists.”
Starscream was utterly charmed.
Thanks for asking! Hope you don’t mind it wasn’t papa Starscream action, but I’ve already got the Disaster Dads au tag for that.
I foresee shiny, sarcastic 100% done with life’s bs Harry to be kind of irresistible by seeker standards. They’re like red-eyed magpies.

Since it’s almost one am and I’m thinking about new characters while trying to flesh them out:
Zoe Dawson
Promoted to Detective against her wishes, liked working the beat with her partner better than being a plainclothes detective.
Problem Child™️ due to her mother’s absence who was given the choice to shape up or ship out, police academy gave her structure she needed.
Has a horrible relationship with her mom, dated Bobby and now hates his guts, respects her Captain but resents him for taking her away from where she thinks she’s the most useful without asking her first, is on friendly terms with Tina, has not pissed Verda off with her snark yet, and barely tolerates Douglas.
Still knows how to pick locks and pickpocket.
6’0”, medium tanned/golden skin tone, long dark black hair and blue eyes.
Not a morning person, drinks her tea black, has a thing for croissants.
Default modes are “fuck off”, “fuck this”, “fuck you”, and “fuck you 😏”
Decorates her apartment in moody colors and dark wood with metal accents. Probably some mid-century modern lines with a pop of color here and there to break up the dark gray walls and walnut wood.
Wears mostly cargo pants, t-shirts, and her leather jacket
Had a motorcycle when she was a teenager, but crashed it. Would love to have something sportier and flashier than the POS she drives, but spends most of her money on lipstick, fancy underwear, and Friday night drinking
Has not met a bar fight she hasn’t liked. Will throw punches and chase down suspects. Is nobody’s babysitter at work, but doesn’t keep quiet about slackers. Can be found most nights blowing off steam at a bar, though she’s not social and has a strong Keep Away vibe going for her.
Aubrey Greene
Golden Child™️, loves her mama, misses her dad, or at least the idea of her dad based on secondhand knowledge
Worked hard to rise up the ranks, 110% by the book
5’7", bright red hair in a pixie cut, light blue eyes, pale and sunburn-prone
Coffee, 2 sugars and cream. If she has time, she’ll grab a slice or two of plain buttered toast on her way out the door in the mornings.
Used to be friends with Bobby until he stole her hard work. Tries to be professional around him, but he TESTS her patience.
Doesn’t get out much, decorates her place in a minimalist Scandinavian style that still manages to be cozy (Tina was often overheard during her decorating phase going “Aubs, if you say hygge one more time...”)
Doesn’t like to fight but keeps in shape because she knows it’s a potential part of her job. Can hold her own against suspects.
Wears mostly blazers and slacks with a stylish blouse. Professional and put together, but with a hint of fun.
Likes to be in charge, doesn’t like being kept out of the loop. Runs a tight ship at the office and has little patience for people who can’t or don’t pull their own weight.
The epitome of “I don’t have time to be social, there is work to be done.”
Would like a better car and is saving up on something sensible with good gas mileage.
Emma Kingston
Average Everything™️. 5’5" with medium length dark brown hair and brown eyes. Light brown skin tone with a few sun freckles she dislikes because she thinks they make her look younger than she really is.
Has a good, if distant, relationship with her mother that she wants to improve. Is okay with not having a dad in her life, even if she gets a bit wistful from time to time wondering how he was
Runs on tea (heavy on the milk and sugar) and chocolate chip muffins.
Likes to be unassuming. Wears hoodies and casual street clothes or switches to nicer stuff that still lets her blend into the background.
Science, History, Language geek. Loves to flex her brain power more than her muscles.
Adores going to swap meets and decorated her place with cozy and colorful findings. Not quite grandma chic, but it’s getting there.
Tries to be the mentor type at the office. The promotion was a surprise to her and she puts a lot of stress on herself to live up to expectations. Doesn’t know Bobby personally, just on a professional level, but doesn’t trust him at all.
Can’t afford a new car, but she doesn’t mind. Tries to fix up Harriet (“What, you don’t name your cars?”) as well as she can and if she ever did get a new one, she’s probably get the same dependable model.

Jackson Avery Imagine
Y/n is Jackson avery’s best friend and when she tells Harriet that she loves her dad. Harriet spills what Y/n told her 💕
You were half way home after a shift at the hospital when your phone started ringing loudly from the seat beside you. Grabbing it you saw it was the hospital calling. “Hello?”
“Y/N,” Your best friend, Avery’s, frantic voice came over the other end.
“Jackson? What are you doing at the hospital?”
“I need you to come back. Harriet...there’s something wrong with her. I just brought her in. You’re the only one I trust enough to take care of her.” Your turned your car around quickly and sped off back to the hospital. While he was your best friend, and Harriet was like a daughter to you, you felt more for him than you told him.
“I’ll be there soon.”
You rushed back inside and ran up to your pediatric wing. “Where’s Harriet and Avery?” You called to the first nurse you saw. She yelled out the room and you ran down the hall. Harriet sat in the bed looking very ill and weaker than you had ever seen. You grabbed the chart from one of the interns and flipped through the pages, taking in every word. “Jackson, what happened?”
“Thank God you’re here. I was with her all day. She woke up and said  she wasn’t feeling good, I just figured it was a cold. But as the day started to go on she broke out in a sweat and had a fever. It looked like it was just the flu. She wouldn’t touch any food but she started throwing up around 4. I kept trying to get water or crackers in her system but they won’t stay down. It was getting real bad so I rushed her in.”
“She hasn’t had any food?”
“No, none that she ended up keeping down.”
“Her bathroom habits?”
Avery cursed. “I didn’t even think about that. I don’t think she’s used the bathroom in hours.”
“Increase her fluid drip,” you told one of the nurses and looked at Avery. “I’m going to check her out again myself and run a couple tests. I want to make sure her kidneys and bladder are doing alright since it’s been so long since she’s outputted urine.” You smiled at Harriet and sat on the side of her bed, feeling her forehead which was still warm. “Hi, Harriet. How are you feeling sweetheart?”
“Bad.” You scanned her forehead and saw her temperature still too high for your liking, yet she shivered while she sweated.
“Well I’m here now and I’m going to take good care of you ok? I’m going to go get you another blanket to help with your shivers, ok? Can I steal your Dad for a second?” She nodded weakly and Jackson followed you out.
“Well?”
“I’ve seen a couple kids come in with these symptoms and I’ve heard about more taking up hospitals in the north. Her symptoms just seem to have hit her harder, she might have a more aggressive strain.”
“So you think you know what it is?”
“I do. It’s like a mega-flu that’s started to go around, mostly in kids. What’s important now is that we keep her hydrated and break her fever.”
“All that is just the flu?” He breathed a pitiful laugh and rubbed his face. “I’m a surgeon and got scared by the flu.”
“It’s a bad flu, Avery. Plus,” you put a hand on his shoulder. “She’s your baby. No parent thinks straight when their baby is the one sick. You back in there, I’m going to get her another blanket and get a sonogram to check her kidneys out.”
******
Two days had passed and Harriet was feeling much better. Her fever still lingered on and off but it was nowhere near as bad as it had been. She could hold a little food in her stomach and was able to drink a cup of water without feeling too sick. You sat by her bedside and kept her company, although it was your day off you didn’t want to leave her alone while Jackson worked.
“Y/N?” You looked away from the cartoon that played on the TV in her room.
“Yes?”
“Why are you here?”
“To take care of you, silly,” you brushed the hair back from her forehead.
“But you aren’t supposed to work today.”
“I am not but I didn’t want to leave you up here by yourself. I’ll hang out with you until your Dad is all done working.”
“Y/N, why are you and Daddy best friends?”
You turned to her and held her small hands in yours. “We became really good friends when I started working here,” you smiled. “We both like the same things and we both like to help people. We have lots of fun together, especially when we get to do fun things with you.” Your heart pulled at the memories you two had together. “I love your Daddy very much, Harriet.” You could see sleep working its way into her eyes. “Why don’t you try and get some rest, pretty girl.”
Avery came later that night after his shift and sat down across from you on the other side of Harriet’s bed. “How’s she doing?”
“Good,” you grinned. “If she can keep go all the next 12 hours without a fever I’ll be ready to release her now that she can keep more food and water down. I better head out,” you stood up and stretched. “I have to be back here in,” you looked at your watch, “8 hours for work.”
He pulled you in for a large hug. “Thank you for staying with her. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
******
Jackson had been asleep, laying his head onto Harriet’s bed for support, when he felt her stir slightly and jolted up right. He saw her rubbing her eyes as she woke up. “Hey, good morning sleepy head. How are you feeling?”
“Good,” Harriet told him. “I’m hungry.”
“Good,” he smiled. “That’s a good sign. I’ll get someone to bring you some food.”
“Daddy, when can I go home?”
“Y/N said that if you don’t get a fever again today that we get to go home.” Harriet grinned at the thought. “Did you have fun with Y/N yesterday?”
“Yeah, she watched cartoons and colored with me! She read me a book too and talked to me all day.”
“Oh yeah? What did you two talk about?”
“School, and TV, and books, and you.”
“Me? What did you say about me?”
“About how you and Y/N met and what you like and that she loves you.”
His ears perked up. “How she loves me?”
“She said she loves you very much, Daddy. Do you love her?”
‘If only she knew,’ he thought to himself.

for you i can do anything but fly
Day four of Thominho Week! @thominho-week
Minho had had his doubts for a while about his relationship with Thomas. They'd been good friends for years before they realized there was mutual pining. Maybe they were better off as friends. They hadn't sprouted wings yet. Wings were hallmarks of love and devotion. Hs parents had gotten theirs after a year of dating. He and Thomas were going on eighteen months. Nothing. It didn't seem to bother Thomas, and Minho knew that plenty of people lived in healthy, caring relationships without wings. (There's a difference between knowing and wanting.) And now Thomas was excited about this cat at work, had asked Minho to come to meet her to see if they'd like to adopt her. Minho had said yes. "One last shot at this," He promised himself. "One last try with Thomas, and, if it ends, it ends. No big fuss at all." "Hey, Minho, right?" Thomas said you'd be coming by to see that cat he's so fond of. It's nice to meet you, Minho, I've heard so much about you." That last part was said loud enough for someone in the back to hear. "Come on back. I must warn you, this cat is a bit of an odd looker. She's really pretty after you get past that." The boy--no older than fourteen--led him to the kennels. "Here she is. I'll go grab Thomas for you, he was working with a potential adopting family last I checked." The cat was certainly odd, but Minho had two dozen years' worth of memories about the strays his mother liked to feed. They had been odd colors too, due to inbreeding of marked cats. This one was inbred, but somewhere along the line, the inbreeding had been diluted slightly. She was large, almost overly so, and was a rich turquoise mixed with a dusty green. She had one of the famed marks on her forehead: A white circle. Minho crouched down to pet her. She preened at the touch, and Minho smiled. He knew how to deal with cats. "Beautiful, isn't she?" Thomas asked. "She's smart, too, very independent." "You want to keep her, don't you?" Minho could see it on his face. "Yeah," Thomas scratched his ear; Minho absently noted the bandaids covering his arm. He'd been handling the rougher animals again. "But I didn't want to spring her on you by just bringing her home, I wanted to make sure you wanted her too." "Maybe we should do a trial run? Take her home for a few days and see how it goes." Minho suggested. They both knew that meant he was halfway to yes. "Want me to get to work on the take-home papers?" The kid had turned up again. "Just bring them to my office, thanks, Chuck." Thomas picked up the cat carrier. "I hope you know some good cat names."
"She doesn't have a name?" "Not yet. We've presented her with a few, and she said no to all of them." "Well, we'll just have to keep trying then." "Of course." Thomas grinned at him, and stars, Minho wanted this to work. (Wanting is different from acting.) They filled out the papers and Minho took the cat home. Thomas would join them in a few hours and they would work on homes.
Thomas drove home with the radio off. He was worried--worried about Minho. A few weeks ago, about when the cat had been dropped off, he'd been telling stories from his childhood and his mom's penchant for adopting strays, but he'd hardly reacted to the cat Thomas had quickly grown fond of. She really was beautiful, even with colored cats being less of a rarity in their world than even ten years ago, and came from pedigree. She had been dropped off with all her paperwork and a note: The family who had adopted a twelve-week-old kitten couldn't take care of a twenty-week-old kitten who had doubled in size. She was young, sure, but the size of a full-grown cat. It was hard to imagine her as a kitten. Since then, she hadn't responded to any attempts to place her in a new home and even stopped answering to her name. Thomas hoped that he and Minho could be the solution to that problem, but he now he was thinking that he had been wrong.
They'd only planned to keep the cat (kitten, he'd learned from Thomas) for a few days, really. But she was cute and cuddly and playful so after three works they found themselves signing adoption papers. Minho couldn't help but think that this was a stopgap, that teasing arguments over the kitten's name (Emilina Cassira, princess of Glade Acre Apartment A27) were just replacements for actual arguments. That he and Thomas were falling apart and instead of trying to fix it, they were just hoping it would go away. (It wouldn't.) But they were happy, for now, and Minho knew he loved Thomas. It didn't go away. Rather, it all blew up quite spectacularly, right in their faces.
"You're always working, Thomas, most days I feel as if you care about those animals more than me!" Minho was careful to keep his voice low. Couldn't have the neighbors investigating a simple argument between partners--it had happened before. He folded his arms across his chest, unwilling to back down. "Minho, you know I don't. But we need the money, I'm still in school and we can't afford to miss our rent this month. We'll get evicted if we do." Thomas was pleading with him, moving closer with careful steps, and Minho knew what he was saying made sense, but he missed his boyfriend. Missed sleeping in together, missed Thomas's shy kisses, missed dancing around the kitchen. "We do need the money, but you make enough to take one day every few weeks. So why don't you?" One hand slammed onto the counter, the other at his side. "Minho, please..." Thomas sounded like his heart was breaking, one hand pressed to it like it meant help. (Minho's had been shattering for months, with each morning they woke up wingless.) "You're cheating on me, aren't you? Or you're lying when you say you love me." Stars, Minho missed easy smiles and Thomas's eyes bright with joy. Not with tears, like they were now. He missed the feeling of knowing that he was irreversibly, unequivocally in love with his best friend, with or without wings. "Fine. You wanna play that game? I've never understood why you think wings make or break a relationship, or why we would get ours after a year like your parents did. But I listen when you explain how important they are to you, and I support you with your coaching job and running clubs. I love you, Minho, but it's pretty clear you don't feel the same way." Thomas had started throwing his things into his school bag. "Goodbye, Minho." Emilina stared at him for a moment, then padded away to where their office was--Thomas used it the most. It looked like the cat hated him too.
Thomas was close to tears as he ran to Teresa's. He worked so much because they needed to save! Because he was going to school in the fall! And Minho acted like he did it as an escape, as a way to ignore him and get away. And then to say he was cheating when he knew full well that Thomas didn't like sex and that he liked having only one romantic connection at a time. "Thomas? What the hell happened?" Brenda opened Teresa's door. "I had a fight with Minho." "I'll get the ice cream. Teresa! Your brother's crying on the couch!" Thomas heard running footsteps and then someone landed on him. "What did he say." It wasn't even a question, it was a demand. Brenda handed him a tub of ice cream with the spoon already in it, sitting beside him. "Want to talk or just cry and eat ice cream?" "Cry and eat ice cream for now." Thomas managed, hunching into himself. Minho had just... crushed his heart, all in one go. He didn't want to linger on that more than he was going to already. "I'm going to finish making dinner." Brenda stood up, allowing Teresa to shift to the spot next to him. "You're staying here for the night and one of us will get your stuff tomorrow." Brenda gestured around the room to the girls standing around. Thomas recognized a few of them. "If Emilina wants to stay, let her." Thomas managed. "Who?" Sonya asked. "The cat," Teresa answered. "You absolutely adore that cat, Tom, I'm not leaving her if I can help it." "She'll scratch, and you and Brenda are both allergic to cats anyway." "We've got allergy meds, we'll be fine." Teresa rubbed his back for a moment. "I'm going to help Brenda." Neither of them had ever been that great at comforting; they preferred to take action over anything else. "He's upset that you don't have wings, isn't he?" Harriet asked softly, stealing some of his ice cream. He didn't have the energy to push her away. "I've known him his whole life." "Yeah. He said that I must be cheating on him or lying when I say I love him." "Because you don't have wings?" "That's part of it. At first, he was mad because I work too much, I guess." "You need the money." Harriet was one of the junior financial advisors at Paige Hall, the main branch of their college. "You won't be able to stick through the year if you don't work sixty hours a week, and that's just for tuition." "I'm working ninety, across three jobs. Minho doesn't know about the other two. He brings in enough to cover a month's food and a quarter of the rent in two weeks, but with my one job we have nothing to save." "Why doesn't he know?" "Whenever I try to mention it, he thinks I'm asking him to get another job." "Which he should if you're working ninety hours a week." Sonya looked up from her phone. "There are 168 hours in a week, Thomas, you're left with 78 to do with as you please. When do you sleep." Thomas ducked his head. He caught naps at work sometimes, when it was slow... "Teresa, your brother isn't sleeping!" Harriet called into the kitchen. Teresa sprinted back out. "Traitor." Thomas hissed at Harriet. He'd stopped crying, he noticed, and the ice cream had made its way to Sonya, who was sharing with another girl. Harriet shrugged, a smirk on her face. "I'll take his feet if you get his shoulders." She said to Teresa, and Thomas found himself being picked up (and why hadn't he let Harriet introduce him to her personal trainer again?) and carried into the guest bedroom. "You stay here," Teresa said gravely, "And you will sleep. When do you work in the morning?" "Nine thirty." "Then you will wake up no later than eight, and you will shower and have breakfast. And I will drive you to work." Her tone left no room for argument. "Don't dream without sleep, Teresa." Thomas blurted. Her lips turned up at the mention of their childhood phrase. "And don't sleep without pleasant dreams." She finished. Thomas kicked off his shoes and tugged the blanket up to his neck. He was asleep in minutes.
Minho was pacing the floor. His dinner sat abandoned. The door stayed closed. (He feared the door would never open to Thomas's smile again.) He threw his hands up in the air. Thomas was working almost the whole week, came home, ate, spent more time with Emilina than him, and then left for work again, what was Minho supposed to think? That Thomas enjoyed his company? That he wanted to stay together? That he wasn't cheating and lying? That he cared? But Minho knew better. When Thomas came home, he was often working: planning a new route for his runners or looking for another job that was flexible (At this point, he was even considering Uber.). It was as much his fault as it was Thomas's, for not reaching out or saying anything. Why did communication have to be so hard? He knew where Thomas was. He'd be at Teresa's, maybe crying because of what Minho had said. (He would have taken a shattered heart over the heaviness that covered him any day.)
Thomas moved into Teresa's guest bedroom for a few days, choosing to ignore Minho's calls and answer his texts curtly. He knew they'd have to talk this out--they'd had little spats here and there but nothing as big as this; nothing where hurtful things were purposefully said and not to tease. Of course, they would only talk it out if they decided to stay together. Emiliana seemed to spend her time going to between the apartments, and Thomas didn't know what to make of that. He'd figured she might have a preference either way and it didn't appear to be so. Thomas knew they had to talk, but he didn't want to, not yet. (Not to mention that he was still working ninety hours a week. If he had to find a new place or rent theirs on his own, he'd definitely need the extra money.) "You have to talk to him," Teresa told him one day. "I love you, and don't mind having you around, but you're moping, Tom, moping. Please go talk to him so you can have one big mope session or come back happily for your stuff." "Healthy relationships need communication, Thomas," Brenda said. "You might have argued, and there were certainly better ways for Minho to express that he was feeling neglected. But right now you're both in limbo--you need to decide if you're over or going to try and work this out." Newt took him out for a hot chocolate. "You've a right to be mad, Tommy, but now you've had time to calm your temper so text Minho and set up a time to talk." Gally even sat him down. "Listen, you might not be my best friend--" Thomas chose not to say that for years all they'd done was antagonize each other--"But you and Minho are great guys and you both deserve to be happy. Stop being stupid and go talk to him." In the end, it was Emilina who convinced him. She was messing around in the closet, climbing in and out of the boxes he'd left sitting open. "Hey, hey, hey," He crossed to her. "Don't mess with that. Oh, you got into the box with Minho's stuff..." He stopped and stared at the item on top. It was from their high school days. Minho had given it to him in their junior year. His letterman jacket. 'PARK' was spelled out on the back in big blue letters, and Minho's sports were listed under that, in much smaller print. His captaincy pins were still on the front, and Thomas remembered the day he'd gotten the cross-country one. Thomas had pinned the badge on himself, grinning up at his boyfriend and kissing him. He'd been so happy. They both had been. Thomas pulled the jacket on; it had been far too long in the sleeves and too big in the shoulders for him as a junior and senior in high school, but now it fit much better. Thomas remembered the day Minho had given it to him, casually, like it was nothing. It'd been homecoming night; before the dance, they went out to eat and outside, walking to the dance, Minho had slid it over his shoulders. (They made the front page of their school newspaper and followed it up by making the running for cutest couple for the second year in a row. (They won that year and the next.)) Decision made, Thomas took the jacket off and put it back in the box. Then he pulled out his phone and texted Minho.
Minho hadn't known what to expect when he arrived at the cafe; all of Thomas's messages had been as short as possible. He got there early, hoping that this talk would be a good one. The boxes hit the table with a thud. Not so good, then. Minho couldn't see Thomas behind the boxes. "This, Minho, is all the stuff you've ever given me." Thomas tapped the first two boxes, still behind them. "This is the stuff that's yours," "And this," Thomas stepped out from behind boxes and Minho's heart caught in his chest. "Is all the stuff I took when I moved out, that I'm bringing back to the apartment." Thomas was wearing his letterman jacket. The one from high school. "Guess you have to get another one of these, huh?" Thomas was smiling at him, the way he used to when they were just happy kids with no worries except for homework. "This one won't fit you anymore, and besides, it's been mine for years." Thomas moved the boxes and sat down. "Thomas..." "I know, Minho. You were feeling abandoned, neglected, and that's my fault. But I have something to tell you, too. I've been running on fumes for months. I've got three jobs; I'm working ninety hours a week to pay my tuition. You have a full ride but I'm working with a conditional academic scholarship that covers a third of my tuition each year. Add that to my portion of the rent and food and everything else, and the fact that we're saving to move, and I've got almost nothing left. No time, no energy, no money. Nothing." "You drop one of your jobs, I'll get another one," Minho said immediately. How had he noticed this? Of course Thomas didn't have time for him. "And you've got a harder course load in the fall than I do, you're cutting way back on hours then too." "Alright. Two jobs puts me at sixty hours a week, and if I cut back in the fall I'm at thirty." "That's better," Minho said. "I don't you running yourself into the ground, Thomas, we need to work together to make this work." "Yeah, I've been getting that a lot these days." Thomas laughed. "What do you say we go home? I took the day off, and I could really use a good cuddle session with my boyfriend." "That sounds amazing," Minho knew he was grinning. He kissed Thomas over three boxes each and they made their way home, giddy in a way they hadn't been in years.
They woke up with wings a year later to the day. "Happy we stayed together, Minho?" Thomas teased; his wings were mostly blue and brown with the edges of his feathers being green, Minho's color. "Of course," Minho's wings were the inverse of Thomas's: Mostly green and brown, with blue on the edges. "I've never been happier."
(On their college graduation day, Minho gave Thomas his college letterman jacket. Thomas gave Minho a ring.) (They never did buy a house, instead moving into a much larger apartment.)
