Frozen Pain - Jackson Avery
Word count: 1600
Summary: Love that's real, doesn't know a distance, does it?
Tumblr media
You're holding a cup of coffee, comfortable in the luxurious beige couch in your penthouse apartment in New York. You held a letter in your hand, visibly upset.
Hey y/n
I hope this letter finds you very fast. It has been quite some time since we last saw each other at the hospital, or even had a good talk.
And I wanted to let you know that everyone misses you so bad. The hospital just isn't the same without you, or our after-shift drinks at Joe's.
There have been changes since you left. So stay calm when reading this. But Jackson and Maggie are dating now. It came as a surprise to all of us, and it may seem evil but I miss seeing you happy with him.
I thought you should know since you were...you know what I mean.
I know it's been a while since we last spoke, but I hope you'll find the time to write back when you receive this letter.
Take care, I hope to hear from you soon.
Amelia
"I can't believe this... Jackson and Maggie?" You muttered to yourself placing your cup of coffee on the table and folding the letter closed.
Images of you and Jackson together, happy and in love, flash across the screen. The memories of your past relationship flood your mind.
You take a deep breath, trying to compose yourself. You pick up your phone and dial Amelia's number. After a few rings, she answers.
"You have no idea how much I waited to hear you." Amelia sounded emotional about the fact she noticed you calling for the first time after you had left. "Y/n?"
"Amelia, why didn't you tell me about them when I was still there?" Your voice trembled even if you didn't want it to. "I should've known, you know I should've."
" I didn't know how to break it to you. I thought it would be better if you heard it from me." Amelia spoke, sounding apologetic.
"Well, thanks for that. I can't believe he moved on so quickly." You sighed, leaning back into the couch, staring out of your window. "Maybe I left at the right time."
"I know it hurts, but y/n, you decided to leave Seattle. You had to follow your dreams, remember?" Amelia reminded you.
You sighed deeply, nodding your head even if she couldn't see. " I know, but it doesn't make it any easier. I thought what we had was special."
"It was special, and it still is. But sometimes life takes unexpected turns. You deserve happiness too, you know that." She answered on the other side.
" I just wish I didn't have to find out this way." You muttered, wiping away the tears that fell from your teary eyes.
"I understand. But remember, I'm here for you, no matter what." The Shepherd sister spoke. "Just remember, you're strong and capable of creating your happiness."
"I will try to remember that." You hang up the phone and take a moment to collect yourself. Despite the pain, you know deep down that you made the right decision by pursuing your career in New York.
You open your laptop that's on the coffee table and check your emails. You notice a mail from Jo with the subject 'Don't hate me'. You click on the email and start reading.
From: Jo Wilson
Subject: Don't hate me
Hey y/n,
I hope you're all settled and doing great. I wanted to let you know something that happened yesterday.
I bumped into Jackson and Maggie in the parking lot, and it seemed like they were arguing, or breaking up, or anything else that wasn't any good. And yes, sometimes I'm too nosy.
I know your history with Jackson, so I thought I should let you know.
But here's the thing... I accidentally I repeat, accidentally, let it slip that you live in New York.
I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to reveal any of it! Not without your permission. I just wanted to give you a heads-up that there's a big chance he's on his way to you.
You quickly close the laptop, unsure of what to do next.
You grab your cup of coffee and walk over to the sink. You place the cup in the sink and turn on the faucet, letting the warm water flow.
"Might as well do something productive to distract me." You whispered to yourself, looking at the dishes.
You proceed to wash the glasses, rinsing off any soap residue before placing them on a drying rack.
Suddenly you hear a knock on the door. You cautiously make your way to the door and open it, revealing the last person you'd expect standing on the other side.
Not thinking for another second you tried to shut the door.
"Even three seconds is enough...I just need to know that you're okay." He said, placing a hand on the door, making sure you didn't close it. "Wilson told me you took the offer in New York. I just- I had to see it for myself."
"Well, as you can see. I'm in New York not in Seattle." You shrugged at the man you once fell for or still had, but you couldn't show. "Maggie knows you're here?"
"Who told you that..." He furrowed his eyebrows, taking his hand off the door.
"Amelia wrote me, Jackson. I know you've moved on, so I think it's best if you do as well." You gave him a small smile, trying to close the door once again.
"You've been avoiding my calls and messages. Can we at least talk?" Jackson asked, his eyes staring back at yours.
" I guess we can talk, but I'm not sure what there is left to say." You sighed, opening the door wider for him to walk inside. "What do you want to know?"
You closed the door, sitting down on your couch.
"I just want to understand why you left so suddenly without talking to me. I thought we had something special." He folded his hands on top of his knees, looking at you.
You shook your head in denial, staring at the ceiling, feeling the tears pricking in your eyes. "Jackson, it's not that simple. Andrew died, Alex left, Meredith was going to leave, and I needed some time to process everyone leaving me."
"But why didn't you talk to me? We've always been open and honest with each other." Jackson turned his body towards you, leaning an arm on the couch headrest.
" I know, and I'm sorry. I should have talked to you, but I was terrified. Scared of losing you, scared of facing my own emotions." You answered, placing your face in your hands.
"I broke things off with Maggie, she...she doesn't feel as home as you do. We've been through hell and back, we can do it again." He said.
"Jackson, it's not that simple. We both have our baggage and unresolved issues. We can't just start from where everything ended?" You got up from the couch, walking over to the huge window, staring down at the busy city.
"I believe in us. I believe that we can work through our problems together." He spoke as you felt him standing behind you.
"I need time to figure things out. I need to understand my feelings and what I want. It's not fair to either of us to rush into anything." You replied, turning around, your heart quickening as you stared back into his bright eyes.
As Jackson stood in front of you, his eyes filled with determination, you felt your resolve waver.
"I'd do anything if I have to, only to make things work out between us," he said earnestly.
You let out a heavy sigh, "Jackson, you know it's not that simple. You've just left Maggie behind."
"I know, I know," he said, running a hand over his head. "But I've let go of things in the past that I regret now, but y/n, you? You're, you're something I could never regret, ever."
You turned back around, fighting back the emotions swirling inside of you. "I don't know if I can do this again." You whispered.
"Just...just give me a chance to show you." he pleaded, taking a step closer to you.
The memories flooded back, the laughs, the tears, the late-night conversations. Despite your best efforts, you felt a small smile tug at the corners of your lips.
You looked up at him, and he smiled back, a hopeful glint in his eyes, and the city lights twinkled outside the floor-to-ceiling windows of your penthouse.
He leaned in, and your heart skipped a beat as his lips met yours. The kiss was intense, filled with both longing and regret.
"What are we doing?" you whispered, breaking away.
"Right now? I don't know," he confessed. "But I miss this and I miss us."
The ache in his words mirrored your own emotions, but you knew it was dangerous to reopen old wounds. "We can't keep doing this to ourselves," you said, trying to keep your voice steady.
"I know, but I can't walk away." Jackson pleaded, his eyes searching yours.
A surge of conflicting emotions coursed through you, and you let out a frustrated moan. "And you think, I can?" you admitted, feeling the weight of those words hanging in the air.
He pulled you close, and a bittersweet laughter filled the room. "Then let's try," he said, his voice determined.
As you looked into his eyes, the city hummed in the background, and you knew this decision would change everything.

hii can you write a fluff with Jackson Avery? ♡ I don't have any specific in mind so have fun! and don't worry to do mistakes, it's normal ♡
Exhausted
Paring: Jackson Avery x reader
Summary: Working for 46 hours straight is definitely not healthy.
A/N: I don't have a good feeling about this, but here you go. Writing in english was much harder than i was thinking lmao
Tumblr media
You were at the shift for the past 46 hours.
You didn't have time to eat, drink or even get some sleep. Still, you agreed to take your friend's shift. You knew it's not healthy to work this much without getting any sleepi and surviving on mint gums, energy bars and drinks. One of your interns, Max, was with you almost all the time, and she was trying to get you to eat a proper meal and sleep for at least one hour.
"I can't, Max. I have too many surgeries to have time for myself" I said, going through one of my patient card.
"At least eat a proper meal, y/n!" they sighed. "Weren't you supposed to have lunch with Dr. Avery?" she asked, leaning against the counter.
"I was, but he forgot about one of his surgeries." I answered. Before Max could answer, my pager went on. "Come on, Shepherd need some help at surgery".
~~~
The surgery was going surprisingly great.
"How are u feeling?" Derek asked, not looking away from the patient.
"Good. What about you?"
"Good. It's a beautiful day" He smiled and spare a glance at me.
"Good to know." I said. "It looks okay now. I just need to stitch him."
"I told you it's a good day" He said again, making me smile a little. I started to stitching the patient, when I felt a little weak.
"Max, finish stitching for me, please." I said giving away needle.
"You okay, Dr. y/l/n?" she asked. I moved back a bit, so I wouldn't accidentally hit something.
"Excuse me." I said politely, before fainting.
"Take here to the emergency room and page Dr. Grey" Shepherd said. One of the nurses paged Meredith, while one of Shepherds interns lift y/n up. "And maybe page Dr. Avery too".
~~~
I woke up feeling better. My headache was gone, and I wasn't this much affected by light as before. I slightly move my numb hand and I looked around. I was at the emergency room, but I didn't know why.
"You fainted in the OR" I looked up to see Jackson, standing in front of my hospital bed with his arms crossed.
"Oops" I simply said, making him roll his eyes.
"Don't 'oops' me. Max told me that you weren't eating properly, drinking and getting sleep" He says, visibly angry by my behavior.
"Sorry." I say quietly. He sighed and sit on a chair by my bed.
"Just… Just please don't do this again, okay?" He asked, running his hand through my hair. I smiled.
"I'll try."
"Try? Fucking no. You have to –" I interrupted him by kissing him. As he started kissing me back, I smiled into his lips. We moved away from each other, when I saw Max going over to us.
"I wanted to see how you are, but I think I'm interrupting something here" She laughed, while I get slightly red.
"I'm feeling good enough to work again." I say, getting ready to leave the bed, when Jackson grab my hand and pulled my back.
"You're not going to work again, you're going home."
"Good. See ya later, Dr. y/l/n." Max smiled and left.
"You know, I feel good. I can work again" I said, trying to convince him to let me stay.
"No way. We're going home."
"Mhh, if you're going with me, I can't say no" I smiled as I get close to him to kiss him again.

❛ 𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑱𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑨𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏 ❜
Requested? Yes, by @annie-bby 💕
𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜: Jackson Avery x reader ♡
𝘼/𝙣: Here's, I hope you'll like this too :)
(Aah baby Jackson is so cuteee 🥺)
Tumblr media
You and Jackson had known each other pretty much forever, but neither of you ever imagined you'd make it this far. He was your best friend for years, the only person you could trust and who made you feel good. Apparently you were the only ones who didn't realize you were in love with each other, because everyone was just waiting for you to get together.
He literally surprised you when he asked you to marry him. You found him in front of the hospital parking when you left, he wanted to come back with you. You got into his car and started talking about everything that had happened to you that day, it seemed like you were going to go on and on, but then he said your name, making you stop and getting your attention. He just looked you in the eye while you waited for him to speak. Then he said those words. "Marry me" and he completely paralyzed you. But you didn't hesitate to answer, you loved him so much, it was everything you wanted. "Oh my God yes yee yess!!!" you managed to climb over the part that separated your seats to lean on him and kiss him. You just made him the happiest person alive.
It took you a while to decide what kind of ceremony to organize, but in the end you didn't do anything too exaggerated, the bare minimum that was enough to remember this beautiful day
When you work it seems impossible not being able to be with him, not being able to see him or feel his presence, but by now everyone had become accustomed to your method, very simple and one of the most popular to say the least: meetings in the call rooms. You always did it as soon as you had time, it was never enough.
When you fight you always feel guilty. It hurt you seeing him mad at you, or even worse that you were mad at him. But somehow one of the two of you always did something to forget what happened and get over it, and that was one thing that helped a lot and that you liked about your relationship.
After your marriage, you had taken a long period of time just for you. It was like being in heaven, you had a wonderful spa vacation. Well having an Avery in your life was an advantage!
You liked to cook, it was one of your common hobbies, and when you did it together, delicious dishes came out. It was also fun to do it, you fed each other seeing who prepared the best thing.
You hadn't talked much about kids yet... In short, you liked kids, but taking care of one was also a demanding thing... Once he had told you his opinion, starting a family is all he would have wanted. Well, one day you would have been ready to be a mother.
Before falling asleep, you always take a moment to stay in each other's arms. Feeling the calories of your bodies against each other was such a nice feeling, as you reassure each other with sweet words and tell how much you love each other, a fantastic way to fall asleep. "We're married..." you repeated to him sometimes still incredulous. "Yes, we're married..." he simply always repeated it to you, helping you to understand that it wasn't a dream, but the reality, as he cuddled closer to you and you both fell asleep.

Jackson Avery x reader - together again
Tumblr media
Can I request jackson avery x reader where they were childhood besties but went their separate ways when reader went to the military and they reunite during the merger? - Anon💜
Pulling on your scrubs, you rolled your shoulders and walked into the hallway and over to the surgery board.
“Looks like you’re pretty booked up.”
Looking over at Owen, you nodded your head.
“Yeah, think I could have one of your residents or interns for the day? Just an extra pair of hands to prep and such.”
“Not a problem, I’ll send someone to meet you at your first patients room.”
“Thanks.”
You walked to get some coffee before making your way over to the nurses station.
Sitting down, you looked through your patient files before you finally got up and made your way to the first patients room.
Inside was one of the interns and you handed him the file.
“Have you read up on the procedure?”
“Yeah, it’s a transplant, right?”
“I don’t know, is it?”
Turning to face the intern you crossed your arms across your chest and rose a brow at him.
He offered you a little smile.
“Sorry. Yes, it’s a lung transplant.”
“Yes, I’ll be having you help me today doctor?”
“Avery. Jackson Avery.”
You nodded your head and turned around to check your patient as you thought about that name.
You’d heard it somewhere, not the last name.
Of course everyone knew the name Avery. But his whole name? It rung a bell and you weren’t sure why.
“Doctor (L/N)?”
You looked towards the door at one of the other interns.
“We need your help.”
“Avery prep him.”
Jogging over the intern, you quickly helped them with their issue before you made your way to the operating room.
The whole day was tiring, and by the end you were nearly falling asleep in the hallway.
“Hey, maybe a coffee will help.”
You looked at Jackson and gave him a small smile and a nod thanks.
“Two sugars, just how you like it.” He smiled.
“How’d you know?”
“You don’t remember?”
You sat up a little and looked at him properly.
“Oh my god…”
He smiled and you laughed, reaching over to hug him lightly.
“Jackson im so sorry. It’s been so long!”
“It’s no problem, I know it has but I’m glad to know you’re safe.”
You pulled away as stood up, grabbing the coffee he handed you and gestured to the doors.
“How about some food and a catch up?”
“I’d like that.” He smiled.
It really had been years since you saw your best friend.
The moment you were old enough you left for the military while he decided to become a doctor.
Sometimes he wondered where he went in life, if he’d made it and where he decided to settle and work towards his goal.
Glancing at the man who was walking beside you, you couldn’t help but smile.
You missed him.
He was everything to you, all you’d ever known throughout your whole life. You grew up with him, now you were reunited with your best friend.
Sure, the pair of you had been apart for so long, but you were always inseparable

You’ve Got Me | J.A.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jackson Avery x Reader
Summary: After a shitty day, the last thing you want to do is schmooze hospital donors. Your best friend finds you hiding from the crowd and makes your night better like he always does.
This is based vaguely on the Rory/Tristan scene from Gilmore girls cuz it just felt like it fit jackson
A/N: I honestly really truly hate this, but I’ve been picking it apart for literally a month and rewriting and now I feel like I’ve just gotta post it 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s also not proofread which is becoming the usual so I’m sorry
Warnings: none?
Word Count: 950 (she a short one)
-
Tonight was the annual fundraising gala for Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. You couldn’t stand these events. It always felt like you were being auctioned off like some prize calf, all the posturing and showing off your accomplishments while not-so-subtly begging donors to give you money. There was nothing you liked less than a night full of small talk while wearing a tight dress.
To make the night even worse, topping off your really shitty week of bad surgical outcomes and a lost patient, your boyfriend had picked an hour ago to dump you out of the blue. So now you have to go through the small talk and begging, sad and alone.
You had hoped to make a quiet entrance and head straight to the bar before you have to deal with any obnoxious patrons or drunk coworkers, but of course you have no such luck. Less than a minute after you step into the venue, you are cornered by two middle aged men pestering you with questions about your newest research.
When you finally extricate yourself from the pair of men after an hour of them asking condescending questions and trying to mansplain your own experiment back to you, you’re about ready to have a mental breakdown. Trying to keep your cool, you shake off the conversation and set back on the path to the bar.
You take a step towards the crowd of people and then stop again. It looks so overwhelming and you're already exhausted. Would they even really miss you if you left? Deciding to take at least a few minutes for yourself, you turn the other way. You wander down a hallway, finding a bottle of champagne on an abandoned tray. A quick look to make sure no one sees, and you swipe it before heading into a small quiet sitting room that’s just off the main area.
You slump onto the floor, kicking off your shoes and taking a sip of champagne. It feels like the longest day of your life and you’re just happy to finally have a moment of peace. You listen to the music flowing quietly through the wall and lean your head back, taking a moment to process the events of the day. Lost in your thoughts you don’t even notice someone has joined you until they speak up.
“Hey, you okay?” Jackson takes a seat next to you, concern filling his green eyes.
You give your best friend a small smile. “I’m alright, long day. I’m sorry for bailing out of the party. I just got a little overwhelmed.” You give him an apologetic look. Jackson has been working so hard on this fundraiser for weeks and you know it's been taking a toll on him. You don’t want him to feel like you don’t care.
He just shakes his head. “It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize, I get it. It was starting to be a bit much for me too.”
You pass him the champagne bottle and he gratefully accepts, taking a sip. “I know I was born into this life, but god is it miserable,” he jokes.
You laugh. “I don’t know how you do it, honestly. I was here for all of five minutes before I gave up and came to hide.”
The two of you joke and chat for a while longer, passing the champagne bottle between you until it’s empty.
“Hey, where’s your boyfriend? I thought he was coming with you. Is he out there looking for you?”
You shake your head looking at the ground before muttering, “He’s not my boyfriend anymore.”
“Why not?” Jackson questions.
“Didn’t want to be.” You shrug.
“Idiot,” he laughs. You just give him a look. “I’m serious, Y/N. He just lost the best thing that ever happened to him.”
“I don't know about that, he seemed pretty happy to end it.” You shrug. “It’s fine. If I’m being honest with myself, the relationship had been falling apart for a long time. It just sucks that it had to happen this week.” Jackson nods. “Plus I had to come to this all by myself! You know how much I hate that!”
He laughs. “Yes, I do.”
You lean your head on his shoulder with a heavy sigh. Jackson has always been your rock, through thick and thin. You’re grateful he came looking for you tonight. His presence having eased your anxiety.
“At least I’ve got you,” you tell Jackson affectionately.
His body shifts towards you and you lift your head to face him. A look passes between the two of you that you can’t quite read.
“You’ve always got me, Y/N. I’m your person.”
Your breath hitches in your throat at the intimacy of this moment. You feel as though you should look away, or say something, anything, but nothing comes out. You can’t think of anything but his soft green eyes on yours and the small smile on his lips.
And then, his lips are on yours, soft and gentle. His hand moves to gently cup your face, his thumb brushing against your cheek. You wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him impossibly close. Your head feels fuzzy and all you can focus on is Jackson, feeling his warmth in every inch of your body.
The kiss is everything you dreamed of and nothing you could have imagined all at once. It conveys every emotion the two of you have been holding inside for so long. The trust, friendship, longing, and love all mixed up together.
By the time you pull away, you believe his words with every fiber of your being. Jackson Avery is your person and he always will be.

Being With Jackson Avery Would Include...
Request - hey hi hello<3
I was wondering if you write for Jackson Avery (from gray's) with a male reader
|| it's okay if u don't feel free to ignore but if you do 👀 could I please order one of those with head cannons about them together (v fluffy)
if u can thank you<3 if you can't no worries<3
— 🥞☕ breakfast anon
Spoilers for the show (kinda), And I know this wasn’t a before and after starting dating request but I thought it would be cute to add a little more
-><-
Tumblr media
-><-
!Before Dating)
- You two met through the merge of Seattle Grace and Mercy West and for a long ass time he didn’t like you, and you didn’t like him
- You were forced to talk to each other when you were stuck on a service together
- It was a lot of back and forth and passive-aggressive comments and shouting by an attending for you to give in and talk to Jackson without making a rude comment
- He in turn didn’t call you names or try to make himself seem smarter than you
- From then on, while you guys weren’t bff’s when given the chance you two would share small talk in elevator rides or walking out to the parking lot
- Over the months of getting to know him and the Mercy West people you two slowly did become best friends or as Mark Sloan likes to put it “best bros” and constantly comparing the two of you to him and Derek
- Without the fact that one of you has a massive crush on the other (it’s Jackson)
- He’s the one who confesses
- In the parking lot after a long day of back-to-back surgeries and being stuck with you every step of the way
- It’s messy and jumbled and so not normal for Jackson, but that’s what made it so much better
!Dating!
- For a long while, you two keep your relationship quiet even though you both know there won’t be a problem with you two being together given everyone supporting Arizona and Callie it was just the idea of you two getting out there, and then Jackson being top news for being an Avery and having a gay lover
- The first person to know was Lexie who came running into Jackson’s room to rant to him and found the two of you making out on his bed
- Safe to say she’s your number-one supporter
- Then it kinda goes from there on telling people, most people found you guys before you told said people and others heard from gossip before you told them
- But once it was out that you two were together, absolutely nothing changed which is what you were grateful for, except for Callie and Arizona wanting to go on double dates as a gay flex to the public
- The two of you are “so cute it hurts,” as Mark mocked when he found the two of you holding hands while walking down a hallway
- While PDA wasn’t something that the two of you do often when around the hospital, outside of the hospital, it wasn’t normal to find the two of you apart
- At big events, the two of you match your suits and your ties and steal the show every time.
- His mom adores you like every time this woman shows up, it’s all “where’s my son-in-law” or “there’s my second favorite guy,” and she smothers the Hell out of you every chance she gets
- Every chance this man gets, he’s expressing how much he loves you with little whispers or a quick peck on the cheek, you name it
- You two are probably everyone’s favourite couple
- So, in summary, you went from enemies to friends to lovers with the “gorgeous” Jackson Avery

🎃💉Grey's Anatomy Halloween Special💉🎃
“This Is Halloween”
Paring: Derek Shepherd x reader, read x multiple characters
Summary: you and Derek go to a Halloween fest with your friends from the hospital. It's all fun and games till someone gets hurt.
Warnings: horror, some gore, not edited.
Greys MasterList.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Halloween is upon us and the hospital loves to make sure we don't forget it. I'm definitely not complaining, I love everything gore and spooky. Dispite our busy schedules we like to at least take a minute to appreciate this time of the year.
If you work on the Peds floor like me and Alex you learn quickly that this floor loves Halloween. This gives the kids something to smile about and do during their stay.
Dispite his protest me and Arizona got Alex to dress up for the kids. Our trio Decided to dress up as super heros which the kids loved. Alex was carrying around a captain America shield and entertaining the kids while I was dressed up like Hawkeye and Arizona dressed up as a female Thor.
“what's up Cap?” I teased as Alex came over to the nurse's station with a scowl. “shut up”
Me and Arizona laughed as he sat his shield down only for a kid to snatch it and run off. Alex who was secretly enjoying it playfully yelled 'hey!' and ran after the giggling kid.
“I love Halloween” I smiled putting a sucker in my mouth. Arizona nodding agreaing as she grabbed a chart and walked off. I sighed happily and set down my fake bow and arrow. Before a could go anywhere a all too familiar voice spoke behind me.
“trick or treat” a small voice said. I smiled and saw Derek carring our son Who was Dressed up like Chucky. I smiled lovingly at my two boys as took out five year old out of his arms.
“what happened to the Harry Potter costume” I laughed remembering our son was indeed Harry Potter early this morning. Derek smiled like he didn't know what I was talking about.
“he said he wanted to be scary so while you were in surgery I took him to the Halloween store” I rolled my eyes and set him down so he could say hi to Arizona and Sofia.
Derek gave me a cheeky smiled as he placed his hands on my hips and pulled me closer to his body. “have I told you how much I love this costume on you?” he asked kissing my neck. I chuckled and pulled him away.
“children are present... Many of them” he slightly laughed and kissed me on the cheek. He leaned up against the nurse's station next to me and snatched a piece a candy from a bowl that was on the station.
“so I think Meredith and Ameila are planning something for tonight” Derek said breaking off a piece of his kit-Kat and hanging it to me.
“should we be worried?” he chuckled crumbling the wrapper and putting it in his pocket. “I know just as much as you do, I'm just the messenger”
“what about Dean?” I asked as our son ran up to us. “Bailey said she'd watch him”
“momma look” Dean said cutting our conversation short. Dean smiled and held up a little toy sugar skull that glew in the dark. As he played with it Derek came up behind him and fake jumped scared him. Dean giggled as Derek tickled him. Derek laughed to then looked back to To me.
“I'll take him to Bailey, say bye to mommy” Derek said. Dean waved his fake knife with a smile. “bye-bye mommy” I waved good bye then set off to fine our friends.

“Hell fest has finally arrived!” the report smiled on the TV.
I walked up to the nurse's Station Meredith, Amilea, Callie and Mark were at. “What are you guys watching?” I asked as Jackson and April joined our group.
“shh” mark said not taking his eyes off the TV.
The TV showed Seattle's annual Halloween fest. The place was called Hell fest and it was full of haunted houses and different actors who jump out and scare you.
“but unfortunately the haunted attraction has caused some controversy, with the realistic sets based on actual serial killers and true events. Is it distasteful or just plane Halloween fun?” the report continues.
The fest's advertisements was full of gore and slasher themed custumes. Amilea stared in amazement. “dudes we have to go”
Christina rolled her eyes. “it's just a bunch of cheep rides and haunted houses that aren't even scary. It's a waist of time”
“oh come on yang grow a pair” Mark said acusing her of just being scared. April who wasn't into it all shook her head terrified but she was ignored.
“those places are awesome actually” I added as Derek joined us. He kissed the side of my head and leaned against the nurse's station next to me.
“But the haunted attraction is based on actual events…isn’t that a little bit inconsiderate to the families of the victims?” April asked.
“What, you don't want to be chased around by Ted Bundy?” Mark joked as he fake stabbed Derek with a pen Derek chuckled and pushed him away from me and him as scrolled through my phone looking up the place. I smirked and tapped Merideth’s shoulder.
“Dude we have to go! This place is known to be haunted!” I said Meredith bugged her eyes out in surprise looking at the article. “Awsome”
“yes!” Amilea said looking over our shoulders. Derek just shook his head and smiled at the trio.
April sighed and garbed a chart. “I'm gonna check on my patient” I sighed and looked at April with a depressing look. “Fine we won't go”
Amilea made a fake evil laugh and followed April. “I guess I'll go with... So you don't get murdered by an escaped psyc patient” aprli slugged her in the shoulder as the two disappeared in the hallway.
I then looked at jackson. “And you guys can stay here all along… with the nerves parents and kids who ate too much candy” Jackson sighed and looked at the direction that April went.
Not a second later April’s screams erupted through the halls then a cash sound followed along with Amilea's cackles. The group looked over to where the sound came from with confused looks. April came racing in shaking while Owen followed, rubbing his head while Amilea was with him cackling.
“What happened to you?” I asked, chuckling.
Owen turned to April. “You hit me in the head with an empty bed pan” April whipped back around. “Well you snuck up on me in a dark closet, what do you expect?”
Amilea wrapped her arm on April's shoulder taking a breath from laughing. “Aw, come on Kepner, it's Halloween everyone's entitled to a good scare”
“So are we going or what?” Mark asked. “Going where?” Owen asked.
“Hell fest, you in?” I asked my best friend. Before Owen could answer Merdith butted in.
“We're going, we're just trying to get these two sissies to go,” Merdith said, pointing to Jackson and April. The couple quickly got defensive. “We never said that,” Jackson said, using his hands while talking, probably trying to get his point a crossed.
“Come on Avery it'll be fun” Amilea said. Jackson soon gave in with a smile. He nodded making everyone cheer.
“Hunt you in?” Mark asked. He smiled and nodded. “sounds like fun, sure”
“Callie?” I asked turning to here. She nodded with a big smile. “dude, I've been in for a while.”
After transportation planning and a few added ons(Alex and jo then Merdith convinced Hayes to come with us)we left for the Halloween fest.
🔺▪️🔻▪️🔺▪️🔻▪️🔺
“we made it!” Amilea cheered as the the both of raced in leaving the group behind.
“wait up guys! We still need tickets!” Derek shouted making us sighed and walk back.
The line was long but thankful we were towards the front. “lot of weirdos” Christina mumbled. A guy in a clown costume that was behind her in line tried to scare her. It didn't work and Christina made sure he knew.
“boo, so scary” she said sarcastically and moved over next to Merdith and Hayes.
We all finally got in with our VIP passes and the place was a sight to see to say the least. Before we set off Jackson came up next Mark with a creeped out expression.
“Avery we just got here, what's the problem?” Mark asked. He looked around a shivered.
“please say the ticket guy licked his lips at all of you and not just me?” April scrunched her noise up and Mark started laughing. Jackson never got his answer do to all of us setting off to explore the place.
I looked over to Derek who just took my hand. He looked around slightly board but still trying to look like he was having fun. “this really isn't your thing, is it?” I asked him.
He stopped and smiled. “it's your thing and I'm just happy to spend time with you” he was about to lean down and give me a kiss but a scar actor in clown costume scared us. I jumped into Derek arms and he laughed.
“okay, that was fun” he laughed. I giggled and pulled him along to catch up with the other.
“haunted house?” Callie asked. We all agreed making our way in. Merdith and Hayes went in first cleaning to each other. The first guy that popped out was mad doctor making Amilea jump into Owen's arms in fear.
She pushed him away like nothing happened. “and... That's just insulting” she said pointing at the doctor.
Strob lights and blood surrounded us as we walked into a canbilist farm themed room. The place was based off. The text chain saw mascara movies obviously.
“ew, that looks so real” April said looking at a dummy that was gutted to piece. I looked at it and decided to screw with April.
“that's probably pig intestines, it's what they used in Day of the dead” I said pointing at the dummy. Jackson wrapped his arm around April and looked at me disgust. “how do you know that?”
“same reason I know that I know they used corn syrup for pigs blood in Carrie” I shrugged and derek wrapped his arm around my waist.
Next we walked into a pitch black room. “okay... Something is gonna pop out” Jo mumbled clinging to Alex. “hello?” she yelled.
“they aren't gonna respond” Alex said as he looked around.
Strob light suddenly turned on and a Dr. Satan like man came charging at us with a doctors too from hell. Jo screamed and ran for it while Merdith laughed.
The final room was a back room full of maquines with wolf masks. “one of you are real” Mark mumbled. He successfully made it to the other side without getting scared which made April feel confident to walk through. As she went one of them moved and grabbed her scream bloody murder.
She ran out with Jackson and the rest of us chacing her.
“that was so badass!” Amilea cheered as we made it out to the end.
After that we hit the cheeply made games. Owen and I went up agint each other while Derek and Mark went to a Dart booth. Surprisingly I won and I wasn't gonna let Owen forget it. “yes! Suck on that!” he laughed and gave me the win.
“here you go” Derek said from behind me. I turned around to find my boyfriend Holding a little Teddy bear he won. I smiled and thanked him with a quick peck on the cheek.
Amilea, Christina, and Meredith then came back with giant preziles. “What did we miss?”
“y/n whipped Hunt in a Shooting game” Hayes laughed. “yes, that's my girl!” Amilea said high-fiving me.
“we should go to that IT experience thingy, I saw it when I was getting drinks” Callie said coming up next to me and handing me a drink.
Derek's eyes bugged out in fear from behind me. Amilea noticed and chuckled. No one knew of his fear so we all agreed while Derek reluctantly agreed.
“God, I hate clowns” Derek mumbled. I stopped and grabbed his hand. “We don't have to go in if you don't want to” he shook his head and pulled me along.
“no, you love this movie let's go” I rolled my eyes and tired to stop him but no dice.
We all went to the entrance which had the three doors from the movie. Scary, very scary, and not Scary at all
“not Scary at all right?” April asked walking towards it. I shrugged when she stopped and looked at me for confoation.
“I think we should divide and Concer” Mark said opening the door that said Scary. Callie, Joe, and Alex followed. April went through the not Scary at all door with Jackson and Owen. Hayes walked to the last door that said Very scary and opened it for Merdith. “ladies first” he said. Derek nodded and pushed his little sister forward.
“yup, ladies first” Amilea scoffed and pulled me along. “chickens”
Derek garbed my hand as we walked through a room full of glowing mirrors. It was the same set up from the second film. The light flashed on and off giving it an eary feeling.
As we walked by a Pennywise actor jumped out and pounded on the window. “holy shit!” Derek said grabbing on to me.
“Awsome” Amilea said as she watched Pennywise run around.
We rounded a corner and ended up in the clown room from the first movie. “oh you got be fucking kidding me” Derek mumbled as he watched every single clown making sure one of them wasn't gonna move. All the clown Dolls then started to shake and their eyes glew as we walked pasted.
The next hallway was built to look like a sewer. It lead us to the last room which was covered in blood like Beverly's bathroom. It didn't have any jump scares and it was thast Room.
As we exited we saw everyone was waiting. “that was kinda disappointing” Mark said as we continued to walk around. “yeah I expected a bit more fear” Callie said.
Are walk was cut short as a guy with a chainsaw started chacing another guy. The pray triped and few and the actor fell and the saw went right threw the arm of the fake victim. The guy screamed in pain but at first it looked like an act but april was the first to realize it wasn't.
“guys... That's real”
“oh... Crap” Christina said as Owen and Mark went to help the guy. Owen tried to stop the bleeding while Mark picked up the arm from the pavement.
“We're all doctor, we'll help” April said as she call 911. The dude screamed in pain while the guy who cut the arm off ran away.
The part of the park that we were at got shut down so the paramedics could get through. Mark and Owen who were covered in blood left with them.
“well that killed the mood” Merdith said as we continued to walk after everyone was evacuated from the crim scene. “not really” Amilea said.
“you guys wanna head to the hospital? See what happens to the guy?” Callie asked.
As we walked a guy that was clearly high cackled as he called out his friend's name. He bummed into Callie in the process which didn't set well for her. She chaced after him and I quickly followed making sure she wasn't gonna fight anyone.
Before call could say anything the guy held up a knife to his friend and smile. “hey dude I found one of those retractable knives” me and Callie gasped as the the dude stabed his friend in the head and the knife didn't retract. Whatever drugs these dudes were on must of numbed the pain because they were giggling like idiots.
“I'm beginning to believe this place is haunted” Callie said.
🔺▪️🔻▪️🔺▪️🔻▪️🔺
After bringing the two high friends with Cookies(no, I'm not joking) to the ER the dude with the knife in his head sat on a bed waiting for a head CT.
“we need to figure out of to get the scan without removing the Knife, that thing is probably keeping him from bleeding out” Derek told Amilea.
“I don't even think they know where they are” she said looking at the patient and his friend. Both clearly on something. “and while your at it get a drug test” Amilea said walking towards the CT room.
“hey how's the Leatherface victum?” I asked as Owen passed me. He signed and took his scrub cap off. “he ain't getting his arm back and that guy-”
Owen was cut off by one of the druggies that started shouting out to Derek and Amilea. “Dr. Shepherds! I don't know what the big deal is.. All you got do is pull it out” he yanked the knife out of his friend's head.
I bugged my eyes out as Amilea and derek raced to him as the guy passed out.
“happy freaking Halloween” Owen sighed as he left to check in the patient.
I sighed and left to scrub in with Derek and Amilea. After a ten hour surgery we got the bleeding to stop and the surgery was successful. The three of us walked into the scrub room to get cleaned up.
“well Halloween is officially over” Amilea said looking at her watch.
“November 1st, it's day of the dead” I smiled drying my hands off. Derek chuckled and gave me a side hug. “don't get any ideas”
I shrugged. “I was thinking we could just go home and cuddle but...”
Amilea smiled. “you guys are adorable... It makes me sick” Derek flipped her the bird while giving me a kiss.
“thanks for going tonight, I know it's not your thing” I said wrapping my arms around his neck. He smiled and placed his hands on my waist. “I hade a lot of fun tonight actually”
“good, I love you” I said.
“I love you too”

Day 18 Ugly Sweater Contest
It was time for the annual Ugly Christmas sweater contest at Gray-Solan Memorial, and even though he is now the person in charge of the hospital, Jackson still likes to show his face from time to time. He does surgeries while he is out on business, and whatnot, so why not is what he thought until his mother came into his office asking him if he found a date yet.
“No, mom, I do not have a date, and I don’t need one. I’m going to chat up some potential investors and meet with my friends, don’t think a date is needed for that.”  “Oh, goodness Jackson, I’m not getting younger, nor has the cancer stopped. I need more than one grandchild from you before I kick the bucket.”  “Ma!”
Catherine walked out of the office as if she said nothing, but to him she said everything, it was the harsh reality that he was sort of running away from. Going to the party was his way of getting out and forgetting his stressors for the moment.
The drive to the hospital was short, walking into the side lobby which was transformed for the Christmas party, it was beautiful, but you can also tell Christmas threw up in the room, but Jackson didn’t have time to sit around. He needed to get more money into the foundation for the hospital so they can make some much-needed repairs and updates, so he started doing what he did best.
Talking to everyone who came up to him or who he knew from his past, was a strategy he had, never judge anyone from the cover, everyone has something somewhere, and so far it has worked, bought in over three hundred grand the night alone. One could say that Jackson was riding on a high of good luck.
“I’ll have what he’s having.”
A woman appeared at his side. Jackson didn’t know whether to engage or not since he was used to woman throwing themselves at him, so he did a quick glance over and she was beautiful. He could tell her skin was soft to the touch by the way the lights bounced off her deep skin tone. She was in scrubs and on the top in black marker was ‘Ugly Sweater’
“I guess that could work too.”
The woman glanced up at Jackson before looking down at her shirt and nodding with a small chuckle leaving her mouth.
“Being a doctor is hard man, this is my best effort.”
Jackson was intrigued by the short sentence she gave which caused him to change his posture. He leaned on his elbow which sat on the bar top as he interlocked his fingers giving the woman his attention.
“Uh-oh, don’t want the nurses bitting my head off for talking to “Sexy Avery”.”
The woman tried to grab her drink and go but she was stopped by his hand coming out and blocking her path.
“You know I’m your boss right.”  “Congratulations?”  “I could fire you.”  “And lose your cohead of neuro? Tell Bailey, I’m sure she would love that.”
Jackson was becoming more and more enticed by the woman before him, he wanted to know more, he needed to know more.
“What’s your name?”
With much sass the looked down at the badge that was clipped to the front of her scrubs.
“You see, I knew they made these for a reason.”  “Alright smart ass, I get it.”  “Zena Stickland.”  “Aht, aht, don’t drop my MD. I worked hard for that.”
A laugh filled the space between them before Jackson went back to check her out. She wasn’t too tall nor too short for him, so they would have paired together well in photos. She was beyond a piece of work just from the short conversations he had with her now, but it was nothing that he couldn’t handle, and on top of that she was not treating him like her ‘boss’ but instead like a normal person.
Xena watched the taller man closely making sure he wouldn’t make any weird movements toward her. Yes, she knew who Jackson Avery was, yes, she also knew he was her boss, no she didn’t truly care, enough to not get her fired, but not enough to grovel at his feet.
Xena downed the whiskey shot before dropping a twenty on the countertop.
“You know the drinks are free.”  “Yeah, but people here tip shit, so why not give the boy something nice.”
She showed him her pearly white before attempting to walk away. Jackson knew it was now or never with her so he followed behind her. Xena knew he was behind her so she started to walk in circles hoping the man would get the hint, that was until she was paged to one of her critical patients.
“What's going on?”  “We don’t know, he started crashing, and before we could act... he leveled out.”
Xena picked up the tablet that already had the patient chart up. His levels were normal, nothing out of the ordinary, not even a point above or below normal.
“Run another MRI. I need to know what’s going on. Page me when it’s in okay.”
The nurse nodded and Xena went to walk out but she ran into a chest instead. Xena cursed as she backed up to come face-to-face with Jackson. The woman rolled her eyes as her hand made its way to his chest to move him from his path.
“Nina, I want that MRI Stat okay. Move whoever the hell you gotta move to get me my scans.”
“Yes, doctor.”
Xena had her mind full of possible answers to his reaction but nothing was coming up. Jackson didn’t know if she needed space or help, he was a tad bit lost but truthfully, he shouldn’t have been there.
“Are you done following me Avery…”
Jackson only stopped his movements because she spoke to him. Xena was slowly but surely getting fed up with him being on her ass, and right over her shoulder. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to talk to him, the woman was just trying to be friendly and now it is coming to bite her back in the ass.
“Xena! Jackson! There you guys are!”
Meredith turns the corner looking a bit flushed as she was able to catch up to the duo. Meredith gave her friend a look which was returned with a small head shake before she could even conjure up a thought.
“You guys placed in the contest. Everyone is waiting for you two.”  “Wait, me?”  “Her?”
Jackson, and Xena both yelped out, gaining some attention from the staff around. Xena looked down at her scrubs and shook her head not even sure why they chose her, Jackson was thinking the same thing but this was giving him more time with her so he didn’t care about who voted and why.
Meredith reached out for both of their hands and drug them back to the main area so they could accept their prizes. Xena glanced over at Jackson and the man did the same giving her a slight smirk as he gestured to her “ugly Sweater”.
“I bet you first place.”
Xena wanted to flick him off, but would that be right to flick off your boss regardless of how annoying they may be? Xena weighed her options before sticking her finger up at him, this garnered her a hearty laugh from the man, even threw his head back and everything.
When they made it back to the party cheers and claps came from everywhere as they climbed the stage. Xena could tell that this was something normal for him. He was a natural, smiling and waving at everyone. It was second nature to him, while Xena was stuck.
Stage fright was in and of her. Even growing up when her mother signed her up for the neighborhood talent show. She is a dancer, but only ever danced in her room and for her family, anything outside of that was too much for her anxiety. That day was a nightmare for her and she told her mother that she was quitting dance.
That was the last time that she stepped on a stage. This... this was horror for her. Jackson looked over at Xena and could see that her breathing increased, a small layer of sweat covered her forehead, and her hand was rubbing against her thigh. She was having a panic attack. Jackson tried not to make it noticeable since that would defeat the whole purpose of him helping her.
Jackson walked over to her and made it seem like he wanted a picture with her. Wrapping his arm around her waist, making sure he had a firm grip on her.
“Jackson... I... Get me-”  “I know, just hold on for a couple of minutes.”
Owen, being chosen as the host this year, was explaining why they chose him and Xena for the contest, and before they could even receive the places for the winning, she was out like a light. Jackson knew it was coming, he bared her weight as she passed out, quickly changing sides as he moved his other hand to protect her head and neck.
Owen was fast to come to help. They quickly got her on a gurney and got her out of harms way away from everyone. This was worrying Jackson, the doctor in him started to itch to order test, but he knew he needed to stand back and let those who were actually on call do their jobs Meradith being one of them helped.
“What happened?”  “She had a panic attack. Her norepinephrine was high, and triggered her fight or flight... she did the latter half as we see. She is fine Jackson, and should wake up in a few.”
Meredith could see that his worry was eating at him, but also that he was a bit smitten with her friend, something that she has to keep in mind to bother Xena later about.
A few hours have passed since Xena was bought into a spare patient room. Jackson was starting to worry a little that she hasn’t even moved a finger since she passed out. The man was so close to ordering his own labs to try and figure her out. When the thought came to his mind, Xena started to twitch just a bit.
“Xena?”
Jackson was quick to be at her bedside. He wanted his face to be the first one she saw every worry line; he wanted her to know that he cared.
Xena’s hand immediately went to her head as her hand went to cover her eyes from the bright lights. The woman could put two and two together to figure out what happened, and she was a little embarrassed to admit it.
She passed out in front of all of the hospital and patients! This would go up there of the worst days of her life. She sat up kind of fast, forcing all of the blood to rush from her head making her a little dizzy.
“Whoa. There tiger you might wanna slow it down.”
Xena knew that voice. He wouldn’t be at her bedside, he wouldn’t be caring about her, and she isn’t even up to par enough to be on his radar. Why would be at her bedside.
“I’m fine, thank you.”  “Yeah, you’re welcome. What kind of doctor would I be if I let you hit the ground?”
If Xena could roll her eyes without her head hurting, she would. She glanced around for water before finding the cup and taking a sip. The silence between them was comfortable, it was safe to say that she wanted to keep it. It made her feel safe with him.
Jackson moved to reach for something on the table beside the bed and sat it in her lap.
“You got second place by the way... still have ways to go.”
Xena glared at him playfully before pushing his hands away from her lap. Before she could say anything, Jackson got up from the chair, not before giving her a longing look while he closed the door. Maybe it wouldn’t be bad to give pretty boy a shot... right?

authors note; hi again!
firstly i just wanted to thank you for the love i got on my two other stories. I am beyond grateful!
I decided to try something different today, that I just made up in my head. I do not believe anyone has done this before me, which is why I say "I created it".
Basically, I spin a wheel with a bunch of fictional characters' names. When a random cc has been chosen, I shuffle my longest playlist at 18h and 3min and make a ff based on the song and character. If it's wished that i do a specific character from a fandom and then randomize a song / a specific artist / show / other way around, i'd love to do so! I’m also going to include the fandoms i am (currently) in, so that requests can be made! im not sure how to make a masterlist 😭
character: Jackson Avery
ship: Jackson x reader, y/n used.
song: I'm your baby tonight by Whitney Houston
pronouns used: she/her
warning: not really a warning but please dont cringe at the slight stuttering 😭 also did not read this through, sorry if there is any mistakes!
Tumblr media
y/n started her internship at Seattle Greys, while Jackson started his at Mercy West. When Mercy West was shut down due to economic climate and they merged to form one medical facility: Jackson and y/n grew incredibly close incredibly fast.
From the second she lied her eyes on her, she went out of her mind completely.
She never even believed in love at first sight, but it was like black magic was done on her and she wasn't able to escape it. It being the constant blushing once he pushed her jokingly in the arm - the nervous laughter any time he 'recommended' a guy for her to date. The rapid heart rate - it's getting harder and harder to hide.
Y/n had been ignoring him for a while now, going on the second week. However, he knew something was up, and he was definitely not the first one to notice around the hospital.
He had pulled her into a supply room, hoping to force something out of her.
"I know you've been avoiding me, y/n."
"Wh- What?"
"I know you've been avoiding me. Why?" Jackson repeated, placing both his hands on his hips as he looked down at the shorter woman.
"I haven't been avoiding you." Y/n could feel her heart beat increasing already, and how it beated harder. Not only was she caught in HD quality, but they were also standing incredibly close.
"Then why do you always walk off when I come around, then? And ignore me when i try to talk to you?"
"I .. " She started, shaking her head and looking up to the ceiling, trying to think of something to say - buying time, if you will.
"haven't done any of that."
"You are really starting to piss me off here." He squeezed his eyes half shut for only a second while finishing up the sentence. it's true. The constant ignoring not only made Jackson pissed off - but upset too. They were practically best friends, and he found it weird that this would happen with no warning what so ever. He knew he hadn't done anything wrong. He had even gone to Mark for advice, and he agreed.
Y/n just sighed, looking down at her shoes.
"I think you know why I've.. ignored you."
"Oh, so now you admit to doing it?" Jackson removed his hands from his hip, transferring them into a cross in front of his chest.
y/n looked back up, straight into his eyes before shaking her head. It wasn't a 'no' shake, it was just a shake. Her mouth was opening, but nothing was coming out.
"Seriously?" He said, getting even more annoyed now. It was raining heavily outside, fitting the mood very well.
Y/n's mind is suddenly paralyzed with apprehension. She didn't know what to say - what to do.
"I just,"
"What?" Jackson interrupted, knowing it would be a long pause either way.
"It's just that-" She slid her bottom lip in between her teeth. She was wondering if being honest would be the bwst - or if blowing this off like it was nothing was. She felt .. conflicted, like maybe staying here instead of pushing him out of the way and leave was stupid.
“Ah, you know what Jackson… I can’t remember why. Sorry… Must've just been a busy couple of days." She laughed nervously, which caused Jackson to furrow his brows. He could tell there’s something more than just a busy couple of days, and he was definitely going to push it further.
"Days? It's been two weeks! We're friends, but in this hospital we are professionals first and how you've been acting lately has certainly not been professional."
"Fine. Fine!" By the first 'fine', Y/n's hands were up in the air like someone was pointing a gun. By the second, her hands were thrown down and slapped her tighs.
" I like you. I like you a lot. But because I'm a professional, I can't ... Be around .. You." Y/n looked at the floor by the end of the confession, not wanting to see his reaction. She was shaking her head, too.
Jackson was still. He didn't say a word, just like y/n before.
"Oh, come on. Now you're quiet?" Once again, she laughed nervously.
Jackson sighed, putting his arms down as he straightened his back - before he impulsively kissed her. He kissed her as he put his hands on her face. His nose was pressed up against the bit of her cheek that he wasn't holding, as his head was leaning a bit to the side while doing all this.
A few seconds of doing this, he pulled away. Only a few centimeters, close enough to kiss her lips again.
"It's okay, keep going." y/n said, pressing her lips onto his.
They might not get married - have 10 kids - buy a beautiful house together and live happily ever after, but he's hers for tonight.

cardigan | Folklore | Jackson Avery x April Kepner | Greys Anatomy
Tumblr media
But I knew you dancin' in your Levi's, drunk under a streetlight
Jackson gently spun April underneath his arm before looping her back around into his gentle embrace. He knew that this wouldn’t last forever, nothing did for him, but God would he never let this moment end, even if it meant memorising every crease in the jumper and smile lines that April wore with impeccable pride.
He would give every penny he had to give them five more minutes of this moment. Five more minutes of the charade of doctors coats and blood stained scrubs traded for lose fitting jeans and the gentle pacing of their almost-waltz.
Once they got home, or to what was once home, April would leave and it will all be gone. Their dance wasn’t romantic but by the grace of everything holy did Jackson believe that only a God could make something he could love more.
I knew you, hand under my sweatshirt
It made him think back to when she was his and he was hers. It made him think of the once in a lifetime moments they had shared. It made him think about how the forever they had vowed to each other had shatter underneath their feet. Their kingdom broken beyond repair.
The thoughts of their nights alone together and her gentle touches came forth and if he was a stronger man, he would’ve stopped their sways and swirls and kept a respectful distance. But he didn’t. He kept his hand in hers and twisted her around the street once again.
When you are young, they assume you know nothing
They had said it wouldn’t work. Even his own mother had doubted them. And perhaps they were right, of course they were, she was in love with another man and leaving him forever in a matter of minutes. But he wouldn’t give up. He would come back; he just needed to trust her enough to come back too.
The thought of her with Matthew sent a chill down his spine, but the thought of her happy without him hurt more than any knife could. But April’s happiness was all he cared about so he would be regarded as the fool evermore if it meant that he would wait for her to be happy with him. But he had to try, one more time.
But I knew you, playing hide-and-seek and giving me your weekends
He spun her again, slowing their pace to a standstill. He thought back to the youth of their love. When nothing was painful and the complications of life didn’t matter. When it was only her and him. When it was only a matter of how and never if. He thought back to the dates and the soft words exchanged in the OR.
You drew stars around my scars But now I'm bleedin'
“April. Don’t.”
“Don’t what.” She giggled, still swaying to the pace of the silent music.
He sighed and pulled her closer. “Don’t leave me. Don’t go. Stay.”
“Jackson I-“ she froze and looked over the street to her apartment. “I can’t. Im sorry.”
And she ran.
And Jackson watched as the love of his love ran away from him.

Jackson Avery - Cherished In Secret
Word Count: 999
Summary: Having that one person to come home to in secret, still feels like home, right?
Tumblr media
There were moments where you didn't know how to act, how to just...be. At moments it could feel as if it was all so complicated, even frustrating when you failed at a single suture.
But to lighten everything, there were also moments of laughter, happiness, and joy. The joy you felt whenever you were around your friends, friends that always had your back.
Whenever and wherever.
Although your friends did not always know everything, some parts of your life that you'd rather keep to yourself, were the parts they didn't know about.
But whenever all of you had finished your jobs for the day, there was one thing left to do, and that was all of you getting ready to leave the hospital and enter Joe's for having a few drinks and say whatever happened that day
Or talk about what happened when all of you weren't together or were too busy living your own lives besides being a medical intern. At times it could feel like coming home, while all of you were just sitting and laughing around a table.
"Taryn, Never have I ever thrown up on another person?" Levi watched his friend's face change into disgust.
"Levi, please-" Nico started.
"Are you serious?" You stared at your male friend with an amazed expression.
"What? You all wanted to play this game, so?" He watched Taryn searching for an answer to his question.
"Yeah, once, twice actually, Y/n was the first person to go through the horror event, and then...Casey was the second." Taryn sighed, watching all of you stare at her. "I'm not proud of it, okay? I still feel bad for it."
"Nico, you're next!" You sarcastically smiled at your friend, the friend you could hate at times, but still, he was your friend, unconditionally. "Never have I ever played strip poker."
The table ooh'd at your sudden wave of confidence. Noticing Nico's flustered face as he heard your question that was directed straight at him.
"Yeah, I did." He answered, shrugging his shoulders, doing his best to keep on a strong expression on his face.
"And?" Taryn took a sip of her beer, waiting for her friend to start explaining any further details.
"I won?" Nico shrugged his shoulder, noticing not one of you believed anything of what he said. "I lost, okay? I lost, ended up in my underwear, and a walk of shame, can we move on?"
"We sure can, but we're not done talking about this," Taryn spoke, pointing at Levi with her beer bottle. "Never have I ever worked with someone I couldn't stand."
Levi pretended to be in deep thought, thinking about an answer to the question that he'd just been asked. "No offense, but I work with all of you, that's already frustrating at times."
"Wow, way to go, Levi." You shook your head at your friend's answer, yet you loved the way all of you could say these sorts of things and yet still laugh and support each other unconditionally. "You're lucky I love you."
"Well, you're also lucky because the next question is directed at you." Nico smiled, fiddling with a card on the table. "Never have I ever kept a crush secret from people in this room."
And this is where he got you good, he got you good at a point and a fact where you had to find a way out. A way out, to not put everything you had built up in secret on the line.
To put it on the line for a stupid game of 'Never Have I Ever' with your friends. It was not the case that you didn't want to tell them, it was just nice to have something for yourself, something you didn't feel like sharing.
"I have never." You lied, looking all of your friends in the eyes, trying your best to make them believe you, which wasn't one of the hardest things to do. "I'd never be able to keep such a thing for myself, so no."
It seemed as if everyone was doubting you, but after a few seconds, they started smiling and nodding their heads, noticing your serious behavior, and suggesting you were speaking the truth.
Suddenly your phone started vibrating, and that was enough for you to know it was time to finish the night with your friends and get safe in your other secret bubble.
"Dr. Wilson asked me to come in early tomorrow, so I think I'm gonna head home, take a shower and just go to sleep for the day." You said, putting on your coat, and placing some money on the table, to make the lying somehow okay.
"Oh...okay?" Taryn furrowed her eyebrows, sharing a confused glance with your other two friends.
"Sure...see you in a few hours then?" Nico asked, receiving a nod from you.
"Yeah, we'll see you tomorrow, y/n" Levi smiled.
"See you tomorrow then." You took your purse and walked out of Joe's, pulling your coat somehow tighter around your body, because the cold weather, wasn't just it.
Taking your phone out of your coat pocket, you scrolled through all your messages, searching for any new message he'd sent you meanwhile, but you didn't see anything.
"So, you lied again to them?" A voice spoke up behind you, startling you somehow out of your concentration.
"My god- well, yeah, yeah I did, why?" You frowned, staring up into Jackson's eyes, trying your best not to smile.
"You've been lying to them for 3 months now, why don't you just tell them?" Jackson asked, taking a hold of your hand.
"I like keeping us and you to myself, is that selfish?" You released his hand and placed both of your hands on each side of his face, softly smiling. "They'd freak out if they would know."
"I get it, I feel the same way." Jackson smiled and kissed your forehead, taking once again hold of your hand as you both started walking into the night.

Could I please have an imagine where the reader and Meredith Grey have been best friends since childhood. The thing is that they both have had feelings for each other for years but never said anything. When they both start at Seattle Grace Meredith goes out with Derek and the reader starts something with another intern (doesn’t matter who). Both begin to realize that they are jealous and that they want to be together. (Possible conversations between Derek and the other person talking about how obvious it is) (like they give up their relationships for the other to be happy) fluffy and angsty please?
❛ 𝑼𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒘 ❜
𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜: Meredith Grey x f!reader ♡
𝘼/𝙣: I've chosen Jackson, I haven't written much for him yet! So this will be also a minor Jackson Avery x reader, anyway I hope you'll like the rest! <3
Tumblr media
In every situation a choice must be made. And most of the time the choice you make should satisfy your need. You can choose whether to wait and keep hoping or go ahead in search of something new. This was your choice. Despite your strong feelings for Meredith, you've decided to let it go so you can change things.
There was this guy, pretty cute, who was in the same internship class as you and he seemed to be hitting on you a lot. When you saw Meredith again you thought it was a sign of destiny and that you might finally come forward, but she didn't seem to show any interest and she even started dating someone else. An attending. Derek Shepherd. Chief of Neurosurgery. At first it hurt you, but then you thought about doing the same and agreeing to go out with Jackson.
It wasn't bad at all, in fact he really made you feel good. He was so nice and kind to you, you almost thought you could fall in love with him and turn this into a serious relationship. But it still bothered you a lot seeing Meredith with someone else and you hated yourself for it.
Sometimes she was in the corridors with Derek, blowing a few kisses while they talked, not caring about the people passing by, but just looking like she wanted to show off, so you did the same with Jackson when you saw her, letting his lips wrap yours as they met passionately. The only result was a few glances between you, nothing more. But neither of them wanted to stop. You also tended to highlight your plans for the evening or the day, which confused the hell out of Jackson and Derek, but despite having a huge effect on both of you.
Derek and Jackson seemed to notice, it was starting to get so weird. As much as Jackson might have displeased him he'd noticed you were somehow jealous of Derek, he'd understood you cared especially for Meredith, but of course you'd never tell him, so the only thing he could do was continue to put up with it all and go after you.
One morning you rushed in together, had coffee together and left before him since you had a surgery scheduled and didn't want to be late. He decided to take it slower.
"Avery" Derek's voice caught his attention, making him stop sipping his coffee in peace.
"Doctor Shepherd" he politely greeted him.
"Okay..." he looked embarrassed. "I'll get right to the point" he stated bringing a rather curious expression to Jackson's face. Was that what he was thinking about?
"I think you've noticed it too, cause it's obvious..." he started.
"Meredith and Y/n?" he asked to have the certainty. He did an expression to confirm.
"I know this isn't professional, but we need to clarify it" Jackson nodded.
"Meredith told me about Y/n, they knew each other since childhood" Jackson raised his eyes.
"Oh... I did n't know..." in his head he had always limited himself to putting the pieces together, but you had never spoken to him about Meredith. And he had never bothered to ask for information.
"And it seems like both will never face it" The two shared the same suspicions.
"That's difficult" Jackson continued.
There was a moment of silence between the two, then when perhaps the situation was finally about to change, Derek was called.
Jackson just strayed there, thinking about it. He had a huge crush on you but apparently he understood this wasn't what you wanted.
Before he could be late too, he entered, with all the thoughts still whirling through his head. In fact they were able to ruin his whole day, and as soon as he had a chance to talk to you, he took you to a call-room to clarify.
Thinking you understood what he wanted to do, you welcomed him with an intense kiss. And although he liked it, he interrupted the situation; he was going to have a serious conversation.
"You okay?" you asked him having noticed something weird.
"Is this what do you want, Y/n?" he asked looking deeply at your eyes. You were confused.
"Jackson, what-"
"You don't want me, I know. You don't want us" his expression as he pronounced those words almost broke you. But deep down you knew what he was referring to and you couldn't say anything against it. He nodded at your silence.
"It's her, Meredith" he continued.
"Jackson, I'm so sorry, I... you're very good..." you tried to get out of it.
"I know, it's okay" he put a hand on your cheek. "I won't be the one who will prevent you to be happy" he gave you a smile, that you knew were forced, and without adding anything else, he left the room.
He did this for you. You almost wanted to cry, even you didn't know the reason. You loved Meredith Grey, and this was ruining your life.
That same evening you went to Joe's bar, hoping it would helped you throw this day in the trash. You sat down and asked the usual drink, tequila.
"Tequila for me too, please" you turned to Meredith when you heard her voice next to you. You weren't in the best mood to face her, so you just ignored it all and continued drinking.
"Shitty day?" she asked you.
"Yeah" she seemed to want to talk. "You?" you asked.
"Derek doesn't talk to me" she said placing the shot glass back on the table. "Because of you" she continued. “And… I think he's right” she admitted. You looked at her, feeling a little pissed.
"Really Meredith?" you crossed your arms after you finished drinking. “Well, you could say that first, you know? You made me feel like a crap about this situation” She raised her eyes.
"Did I do this to you Y/n? You didn't do anything either!" she said irritated and making you feel a little guilty. But it was both's fault. None of you said anything, even the feeling was strong.
You looked into her eyes, before forgetting everything and approaching to kiss her. It was all you needed, knowing that you both felt the same way and that you would do anything to have each other's presence close.
You pull apart for a second to look at each other, can't helping but smiling and kept doing it as you stumble into another kiss.

Jackson Avery x reader - the meaning of beautiful
Tumblr media
Can you do Jackson Avery x reader where reader is injured and has a big scar in a face that makes her feel very ugly and Jackson tells her how pretty he thinks he is. - Anon💜
Sitting on your couch, you pulled the mask from your face and took a deep breath as you set the mask aside.
It was nice to be able to breath air that wasn’t trapped in a face mask.
Leaning your head back, you closed your eyes as you smiled a little bit to yourself as you thought back to how your date with Jackson went.
With him working at the hospital you found it hard to find free time to see each other, so whenever he could he would take you out on dates, dinner, and just absolutely spoil you rotten.
Texting Jackson you were got home safe, you told him you were going to sleep for a little bit, and that you’d call him when you wake up.
After a few hours of napping, you finally woke up again and picked up your phone, dialling your boyfriends number and putting it on speaker.
“Hey love.” You smiled.
“Hey, did you sleep well?” He asked.
You could hear what sounded like traffic outside, and people talking.
“Yeah I did, where are you? Though you were going to go to go sleep too?”
“Oh, I couldn’t sleep. Some sort of party going on, can I come sleep on your couch?”
“Are you coming over here anyways?” You asked.
“Yup!”
You could hear the grin in his voice and you laughed a little to yourself and nodded your head.
“Alright, well the doors open.”
“See you soon darling.”
With that he hung up and you decided to go for a shower while you waited for him to get there.
While in the shower relaxing to some music, you heard the door open and him shout he was here and he had food.
Shouting to give you a few minutes, you got out the shower, dried and dressed in some comfortable clothes before you made your way out to him.
Walking over, you dropped yourself on the couch and laid your head in his lap.
“Really?” He laughed.
“Hey, sleeping here I get to lay wherever I want.” You grinned.
He smiled and brushed some hair from your face, leaning down he went to pressed a kiss to your cheek before he stopped.
Gently touching your chin, you titled your head up towards to face him.
He was frowning as he stared at you.
“What’s up Jackson?” You asked.
He didn’t say anything, but you could feel his eyes burning into your face, and then his eyes shifted from your to your face then to yours again.
Quickly you sat up and grabbed your mask, pulling it on to your face as you averted your gaze away from him.
“(Y/N)… what…? What happened…?” He asked softly.
“Nothing.” You rushed out.
Jackson reached out and you leant away from his hand making him stop and slowly lower it back down to his side.
“Darling…”
You sighed, and turned to face him, making sure to pull your face mask up a little bit.
“It.. an accident a while ago…” you mumbled.
He nodded his head.
He reached his hand up again but didn’t reach out this time.
“May I?”
“Jackson…” you mumbled.
He sighed, and reached his other hand out inside, gently cradling the other side of your face.
“Why did you hide it?” He asked softly.
“Because… no one wants to date someone with a scar on their face.. it’s ugly Jackson…”
He leant over and pressed a kiss to your forehead before he pulled away and gave you one of the brightest smiles you’d ever seen him give.
“(Y/N)… you’re so.. you’re so beautiful! You’re amazing! To me you are the literal meaning of the word beautiful.” He said gently.
You glanced away shyly, and he smiled again.
“Can I take the mask off?” He asked quietly.
Looking up, you locked eyes with him for a moment before you slowly nodded your head.
He was gentle, carefully removing the mask from your face and setting it aside before he turned back to you.
Reaching up, he moved the hair from your face, and carefully traced the scar going along your face, from the top where it stared at your temple, going all the way down to just under your chin.
You waited for him to turn away, to make up some excuse and leave but he didn’t, he just cradled your face in his hands and gently kissed you.
Smiling, you leant into the kiss, placing your hands over his.
Jackson pulled away, his nose brushing against yours.
“You’re a so beautiful darling…” he whispered.
Smiling, you shuffled over and buried your face into his shoulder as he laughed at how flustered you had become
