there's a large part of her that feels personally responsible for what they're all dealing with now, even if there's no realistic way for it to be so. ( this was all before she was born; long before she chose to follow in footsteps that lead her to the doors of the SHIELD academy, long before she made a choice to do what she thought was right even if it meant writing up her own burn notice. ) she's tried telling all that to her guilt; attempted to use every shred of that rational thinking she's so good at in the hopes it'll make the pit in the bottom of her stomach feel a little less cavernous.

but here she is, trying to put a face to the most infamously invisible figure in all of madripoor over the one rumor she'd hoped hadn't been true.

"how many more of those cctv tapes do we have from that camera by the shipyard?" she pauses long enough to rub her eyes a few times; wide, slow circles that are meant to push back that all - too - familiar feeling of being up for hours on end without a real break. how effective they are is still up for debate ---------- she doesn't feel any more energized than she had a few moments ago, and the silence she's getting from sam leads her to believe it's going to be another late night.

bucky at least seems to sense some of her frustrations ------- the lack of sleep is certainly easy enough to spot; it hadn't taken her more than a few minutes that first time to get the impression that he was just as bad at it as she was. how much further that sense of sympathy goes when she feels his hand cover hers and offer up a squeeze before he's up to go retrieve their next twelve hour loop of tape she isn't sure she wants to know.

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space* at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

*yes sorry i mean usage i posted this before bed :( i do not mean the hard drive is full aaaaghhhh

Genuinely crying at work rn. They have thousands of old photos (from the 50s to the 90s) they asked me to scan (so they can create a digital archive). Today I found a photo from a 80s protest with a banner that says "FOR THE PALESTINIAN CHILDREN". It's been 40 years. It has been a lot more than that, actually. And still.

I am fine with "the audience" -

downloading my fics

printing my fics

copy/pasting or screenshotting my fics

sharing your saved copy of my fics with anyone else who might want them in the unlikely but never impossible case that my fics are no longer available on ao3

making a book of my fic(s) and running your fingers across the pages while lovingly whispering my precioussss

doing these things with anything I create for fandom, such as meta, headcanons, au nonsense like 'texts from the brodinsons,' etc

I am not fine with "the audience"

doing any of the above with the purpose/intent of plagiarizing my work or passing it off as their own in any capacity

feeding my work into ai for any reason whatsoever

Save the fandom things. Preserve the fandom things. Respect the fandom things.
