How I feel about this character: i have complicated feelings abt him ig? i think he's really funny and i enjoy him as a character but in general i dislike the teacher/student tropes in shoujo manga. but as mikan's dad i LOVE him omg he's dead but unhinged

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: again thats a little complicated for me. i tend to imagine him with yuka as mikan's parents but he's not my favorite of yuka's love interests... for reasons ive already described and also bc shiki is right there. but i rly dont ship anybody ELSE with him so... not much for me to say here

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: i really like his relationship with little persona. very sweet. makes me cry. ALSO mikan falling out of the window and shouting out for him breaks my heart... he instantly says "mikan..." like how do u know this... he loves his daughter before he even knows shes been conceived ;-; wish he'd had a chance to be a dad to her (and disapprove of natsume who doesnt give a shit about his approval bc he already won yuka's lmao)

My unpopular opinion about this character: hmmm i cant say this is unpopular bc i actually havent seen a lot of discussion on izumi at all in the fandom but i think its okay to like him while also being critical of the teacher/student thing. i think he's fun for the most part and was obviously an important and GOOD teacher to the students (again. for the MOST part). from what i can tell he's the last teacher to actually care about the dangerous ability students and try to help them. he did his best to get all of them on fewer missions, talked to them, acted as a quasi-therapist to them, and tried to keep them away from the esp. no teacher since has done that and bc of that i do love him so much!! ah izumi. ur "influence" on everyone did not carry on to the teachers ig

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wish he'd been able to talk with mikan. his little run in with her when she fell out of the window was really heartbreaking but he didn't know she was his daughter and she only said one word at the end there. it would have been nice to see them interacting ;-;

Favorite friendship for this character: jinnoooO. izumi is the only person in the whole world that jinno ever cared about (except for his wife and kids i guess) and i love rivalry friendships (see my thoughts on mikan and permy lol)

If youre around friends or other supportive ppl (ecen other trans ppl) and they're using the wrong pronouns for someone, you gotta do more than just use the right ones yourself. "He kept calling them 'he' even when I only used they/them pronouns for them!!"
