Im gonna hit u with a big very delusional one ^_^ This is more of a silly thang that could or could not be seen in universe BUT superiors eyes flash either green amber or red (sorta like some animals' eyes in the dark) when he's feeling rlly intense emotions ^_^
Green is when he's a little malicious and he's got more of his old villain-y vibe going on, usually when he's like reaal annoyed or frustrated but in his arrogant petty evil genius way :3 usually nothing bad ACTUALLY happens, but when he's like this he goes a bit more extreme/suspicious with his methods but its always a ploy or a trick to get the badguy to back off, like threatening an innocent or being mischievously unpredictable >:3 it flashes briefly like when authors say characters have a mischievous glint in their eyes ^_^ I'd say this is triggered by more negative emotions like frustration and anger
Amber is when more of the. .Spidey side comes out, very empathetic and protective of innocents and also usually a big worrier</3 its usually when he sees someone in imminent danger and he goes full hero mode doing things he would normally say he finds illogical, like having 0 self preservation to jump into action to save someone !! :3 or going out of his way to do more than he would usually see fit !! While usually his more logical approach to saving people results in the least damage or harm to all parties, this helps in situations where he really has no time to think, but always ends with him getting more beaten up than usual </3 it flashes for longer than the green and usually lingers throughout whatever heroic action he's suddenly had the urge to take <3 I guess this is more positively charged since its his desire to help others and keep others safe? Its based on love for others I guess ^_^
Red is my most insanest idea because its all my own weird take 💕 Unlike green and amber where its some aspect of his thought process having more influence than usual in emotionally charged situations, red is uhhmm I'm a bit silly ok get this . So I had an idea before I read the comics that since he is able to access the memories of peter parker and they were like, not very spiderman-focused, the essence of "spiderman" <-strong capable and confident 'great power', is seperate from the peter parker stuff, which is the 'great responsibility' and all that.. so,, in like legitimately. Insane. Emotionally supercharged situations with high stakes.. things get funky... Now otto used to be very good at handling intense negative emotions (with violence) but with the new morals factoring in and the way its affected him I feel like even he would get overwhelmed in some situations. And in those most horrid scenarios bestie... he just is not there!! the superior spiderman is acting purely on that 'spiderman essence' but without the restraint of peter parkers compassion or otto octavius' logic.. its a little scarymode because its like unhinged strength and impulsive action, and of course backed up by intense emotion. Is it negative or positive ?? We doesnt know at this point!! It's all so overwhelming that he goes a little nuts with it.. definitely a combo of both tho. Maybe intense fear but with millions of lives and his loved ones at stake!! Obv comic superior would probably be able to handle it but like my superior is some poor little meow meow who has trouble dealing with the whole conflicting personality thing. Uhm anyway I'm normal💖💙🦋☝️ it is super bright and stays like that for however long it lasts like straight up animal staring at you in the dark core. He says almost NOTHING when he's like this and is tunnel vision on his goal(which may or may not be good) HAS THIS HAPPENED BEFORE ? answer is NO !! but its smn i think abt sometimes ^_^

Anyway that was very normal of me ! Onto MY BLORBO BUNGUS PETER PS4 PARKERR !!! Honestly my ver of him is pretty close to canon! A headcanon I do have tho for both the actual game and for my little au is that yknow at the end of the 2020 game miles is able to drink upside down and that shows him settling into being a fully fledged spiderman.. I think abt that a lot because its so cute.. anyway I think that that end scene is not the first time he's done it in front of peter and the first time he actually did it they celebrated SO hard. U can tell miles was really into it cuz during the montage with ganke he was practicing and failing and dropping his cup silly style </3 HES SOO SILLY I THINK ABT THIS A LOT. PETER PROBABLY MADE THAT A PART OF THE SPIDERMAN TRAININGS AFTER HE CAME BACK AND FOUND OUT MILES WANTED TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT !! He probably ended every session by treating miles to some yummy drinks and teaching him how to get comfortable drinking upside down.. and they probably got soo excited when miles finally got it they went to show ganke and miles got too excited and just dropped the cup again and they all had a great time giggling abt it ^_^ and when he finally successfully does it in front of ganke, ganke LOSES IT because that's SO FUN AND HES BEEN TRYING TO DO IT FOR DAYS

Happy Friday! For the characters of your choice, [pulling other person close, feeling them breathe a sigh of relief] and “I’m so proud of you, you know that?”
Here's some younger Trevelyan and Enchanter Lydia in Ostwick Circle for @dadrunkwriting (I love writing stuff about my interpretation of Lydia).
No one told her how miserable she would feel when she woke up from her Harrowing.
Evelyn prepared as best she could. She grilled her former peers, the apprentices who passed the trial, but their answers were shifty and vague at best. She read first-hand accounts, though most of those were in the restricted section. That hadn't stopped her, of course, but it made retrieval and studying more difficult. All she could glean from her research was that Harrowings were personal, and that Mages couldn't do much of anything to prepare beyond remembering their training and not giving into temptation.
She thought she did rather well for herself, though she now understood why no one talked about Harrowings. The knowledge that a sword hung over her at all times was alarming enough, but the way that the Fade and those who dwelled within it shifted based on her own tumultuous emotions, playing upon desires and longing that she was barely able to voice to herself-
No one talked about that. How could they? But Evelyn woke up from her Harrowing and nearly burst into tears where she lay on the straw mat on the floor. She somehow held herself together, and Lydia quickly bundled her up in a blanket and whisked her off to the infirmary. Shock was a common symptom of Harrowings, she announced, and none of those present protested. Not even the Templars. So Evelyn sat on a proper cot, bundled up in a thick blanket despite the autumn sunlight that poured through the windows and gilded the room in gold. Lydia shoved a mug of chamomile tea in her hands. When she sipped it she tasted honey along with the floral herb. Lots of honey.
Evelyn clutched the mug in her hands and sobbed, great heaving gasps rattling her shoulders as she tried to regain her composure. Lydia put honey in her tea. So much honey it was nearly undrinkable, just the way she liked it when she was little and first arrived at Ostwick Circle.
Lydia's arm wrapped around her shoulders, a supportive hug that Evelyn buried herself into as she cried. Lydia didn't speak. None of those "there theres" or "dry your tears" like one of the other Enchanters might do. She let Evelyn cry until there were no more tears to cry. Her head ached fiercely and she felt like a wrung out dish rag, but Evelyn felt... better. Not good, but better.
"My Harrowing was difficult," Lydia said. "And I'm certain yours was a challenge as well."
"Not in the way I expected," Evelyn confessed, taking a cautious sip of her now cool tea. She expected an epic battle, a demon with horns like swords and wreathed in flame, but hers was... so ordinary. It was something that could be, if only- but it wasn't possible. That was what saved her in the end. Pessimism.
What a miserable thing to be grateful for.
"That is how it tends to be," Lydia replied. "Which is why there isn't any way to properly prepare you. It is... a test of faith. As much for us as it is for our apprentices."
"I was back at Trevelyan Hall. In my bedroom. The demon- he even got the curtains right," Evelyn murmured. White lace. Delicate. Perfect for a noble child. There was tea and a three-tier stand full of dainty treats on the table, little sandwiches and scones and petit-fours in beautiful pastel hues neatly arranged on every plate. A little party for a homecoming long wished for, the demon announced with a flourish of his hand. He was wearing her father's face, and that was where he made his mistake. She might have been young when she left home, but Evelyn couldn't remember having ever seen her father smile.
"Mmm. It is a strange thing, how our memories work. Mine remembered all the books I wanted to read in the White Spire and reproduced them perfectly. Dog-eared pages and all," Lydia explained. She squeezed Evelyn's shoulder tightly, and Evelyn leaned into Lydia's comforting touch. Her wispy blond hair tickled her cheek when she dropped her head on Lydia's shoulder, but Evelyn didn't move.
"The menu for afternoon tea was everything I like. That was what kept me grounded. No one at the Hall would prepare a whole tea full of my favorites. Too sweet," Evelyn explained.
"Like candy," Lydia agreed. She hugged Evelyn tighter to her side, pressed her lips to the crown of her head, and sighed. Her whole body shook, as if the tension within her suddenly snapped.
"I'm so proud of you, Evie dear. You know that, right?" she murmured.
Evelyn smiled. "Yes. I know."

red, how does one characterize a character for an x reader fics
Ah yes, sit down on my comfy couch and have a fresh cup of tea, Red will now offer sacred advice.

Theres a lot of stress nowadays about making a character too OOC but i find that you have to write them OOC in order to be able to write them in character. I read some of my old stuff and oh my god that is not Tim at all. But it took all that to know why the things I wrote were OOC.
Plus, fics are for you, at least they should be. So you get to write out your ideas and if people like it, people like it. Simple as that.
But since people seem to think I write characters really well, heres what I tend to do:
Find a single moment in canon, analyze tf out of it, and go ham.
No literally, thats all I do with Damian and somehow he's my most popular character. I read the Robin run, found a single panel about him having internal struggles, and just ran with it. I'm writing an entire series simply because i read too far into the Robin Run and convinced myself that Damian hates his eyes.
Im diving into Jon and when I tell you ive only read one comic of his 😂 But that one comic is about sensory overload and OH BOY is that all I needed to know. Know theres a million different scenarios I could insert Jon into without ever actually knowing what he's like.
I also indulge in a loottttt of fanon content too because most fanfic writers deep dive into characters and their fics are basically an analysis on them. That, and a quick google search always helps with that too, especially when it comes to what drives a character and how they've changed.
I have like, maybe three fics per characters that I base my entire perception of Damian and Tim off of, I wish I was joking. I liked the writer's interpretation of them so I stole it :))
When it comes to actually writing, I usually come up with an idea and figure out which character would be the coolest in that scenario and why.
I came up with an idea that needed a character that came from a different city as the reader, so Jon was the first to come to mind. Have I written for him?? Absolutely not. Do I have friends who have? Hell yea, so I went to them and read wayyyy too many of their fics wayyy too many times. I have annotations on their stuff.
So if you have an idea and it feels OOC, try to pinpoint the exact moment that feels OOC and ask why. I find that my dialogue is OOC so I usually rephrase it over and over again until I'm happy with it.
And if you dont want to do that, you can always rely on narration. Especially when writing for introverted characters like Tim and Damian, narration is the best way to make your OOC content feel less OOC because the narration backs up why they said the things they said or why they did the things they did.
Damian could compliment a stranger in a fic. It's super random and super OOC, but if you narrate it the right way, it would make sense for him. Aka, manipulation, using it as a distraction, etc etc.
Butttt if you're asking about readers oh boy i have so much to say about writing readers. Let me know if thats what you were actually asking about because thats a wholllle other rant.

Dream journal of todays “migraine go away” nap
So at the beginning we see me doing some awesome parkour on these really back hallway looking cement stairs incredibly urgent, and then I reach a fire exit and run out to look up at an incredibly tall light post that somehow has a small kid standing on top. Kid pencil dives off that thing I say “oh no kid you should do that” and then I hear the version ttg of the “Titans” shout and the Damien Wayne Robin catches the kid.
Then dream does the equivalent of “you’re probably wondering how I got here” and goes back to me and my sister hanging out in the morning and then mom telling her something secret and then she starts getting dressed really quick, and I start also getting dressed because I think that I probably should. Then, my mom comes back in, calls for me, and that’s when I realize that we’re in the giant penthouse hotel suite that we definitely couldn’t irl pay for. But anyways, so mom takes me out of the room and she’s all like “oh, we’re getting ready to go because this is Haileys last marching band event, but I don’t want you to feel bad since you weren’t able to perform with her this year, so you’ll be staying here” and while this is happening I’m walking through the kitchen looking for something to eat, there’s a really tall box of crisps in the sink for some reason but when I open the box there’s a bag of bulk lays in the bottom that is definitely for my mom to give the marching band kids.
so anyways, they leave, without me even tho I wanted to go, and I decide to straight up follow them. So I get out of the penthouse and board a bus, and then we loose some memory there, brain zoned out and then zoned back in and we were in an above ground subway station and I’d apparently made some friends along the way because there was like five of us now.
now, train platform doesn’t look too off, except for these little caravan wagon looking things with handles on the top, there’s like five of them and then they have men who would carry them between the far wall and the pillars by where the train would be every few seconds. So that’s weird and one of my new friends accidentally gets his foot stuck in one while we’re walking towards the wall to wait, but then the guy moves it, and he gets dragged to the end, so I come over, get his foot unstuck, apologize, and the dude says “oh that’s unfortunate, but you still have to pay for that” to which I promptly walk away because I’m not dealing with this bs.
so then the man goes and I see him talking to a guard, so I book it, theres a staircase to my right behind some swinging doors and I just tear for that thing, and somehow I end up catching up with the marching band of all people, but because I’m running they start running, and when I say “I’m not after you, I’m trying to get away from this guy” they respond “well yea, we’re too now”
So we run together for a bit, and then at some point I get split off by a group of all redhead dance girl toddlers, and then I go through a door and that’s where we get back to the parkour and eventual child being saved by Damien Robin.
anyways, if anyone is into dream interpretation and wants to tell me what the duck any of this means, that’d be very much appreciated

okay this post will Definitely work this time
the text under the cut is from the original version of this post, which itself is from a train of thought that started in its tags before swiftly spiraling out of control
im tagging this as doodles not bc it didnt take much effort (it definitely did take effort and time to try to get the anatomy to work before giving up (hence the note)) and i did have fun but bc i like. i didnt feel like. invested? i usually draw characters bc i think a lot about them and i want to express the things i think about them or that i think are fun or engaging. in fact, there are a lot of characters i have a lot of thoughts and ideas about that i just havent gotten the chance to like deliver on yet. but in general, if its not me putting a bit of me or my experiences in the character, its me trying to emphasize the character visually in a way thats fun for me and diverges from the base material (because it's fun) using my knowledge and interpretation of the character. the only really like "finished" design i have up is goku so ill use him as an example: hes a kind and friendly person so i wanted him to feel approachable but hes also a very strong person as well as having a strong will and i wanted that to be Felt so i ended up giving him a soft-ish but rectangular feel shapewise. rather than the like bodybuilder-y.. build, in terms of physicality, i pulled a bit from strongmen. theres more but this isnt the place its not his post but i'm saying all this bc the choices i made were based on things i wanted to convey both for goku himself And in relation to other characters, who i've been building up in my mind alongside him this entire time with the hope that they bounce off of each other in a fun, varied, but ideally not jarring way. all of this to say, there is basically no data on android 21 in my brain. when i draw her, most of her design flourishes are moreso working off of the twins, who i have at least vague ideas for, and traits related to androids in general (i havent gotten to 16 or gero yet so i dont know if there are traits i want to be similar or contrasted by 21, for example) than like. anything on 21 herself. my understanding of her is probably simultaneously one of my most surface-level of all the characters in the series (i dont have fighterz and i do not want to watch the story right now bc if i do get fighterz i refuse to pay for goku and vegeta blue but its going to hurt my soul to basically replay the story if it doesnt like make me explode so im choosing to stay blind) And the most like potentially warped bc outside of when people play her in tourneys i watch (and i dont even really like watching lc21 so i only see base roster her when i do) all i have to go off of is fandom wiki (unreliable) and any art ive ever seen of her in my life. all of this to say, theres nothing wrong with drawing a character just bc the design is fun but i've been thinking so hard and having at least some form of familiarity with the characters ive been drawing these past few months that Not being able to do that feels really weird. i guess i didn't feel like using my main art tag bc i didnt feel like my heart was really in it even if i did think about what i was doing bc i just didnt really think very hard conceptually. but i guess i Should talk about the design so
while simplicity is definitely a strength, i wanted to see if there was something different i could do. this isnt actually reflective of the order and way that i thought things through bc it Was a bit up and down and all around but essentially i saw that the sleeves from her human form stayed along with her earrings and i was like. what if it was a bit more. i actually went for the shape of that like crop top to the right Before i realized it was similar to her dress bc i just thought the shape was fun but i thought it could be interesting for the checkerboard pattern to still persist somehow. the bracelets i made more like jangly but i think it might have already been like that without me noticing. i guess where this was going is its been a while since i worked with a character Without dedicating like possible months of brainpower to it and .. im talking in circles and its late and i didnt get a lot of sleep i should probably stop

hi ok i watched petscop a while ago & found ur art in the tumblr tag (so amazing btw u have such a cool style) & i really like petscop but a lot of the plot is still difficult for me to understand bc of the mysterious nature of the narrative, so i was wondering if u would ever consider writing out your interpretation of the plot / characters, or if you have any links to other people's explanations of the story that u think are good. thank u & take care!!
hello! thank you very much for your kind compliments! im always glad to help out with things like this because i love any excuse to talk about petscop lol. its totally natural and expected to be confused! i think a lot of the story is best experienced through being confused and puzzling things together yourself. when it comes to helping people understand petscop i tend to recommend resources in one of two ways: if you want to put in a little extra legwork and solve things for yourself, that's one way, and i'll link a few resources that might help with that! on the other hand, if you want a more straightforward explanation, i also have something that can help with that n_n here they are
two big links for solving it on your own:
petscop comprehensive progress document - this is an extremely thorough long-standing guide containing pretty much everything you could ever need to know about petscop. it lays out all the objective evidence as well as pretty much every available theory. that being said, its over 100 pages long, so i don't recommend reading the whole thing obviously ; you might use it to look exclusively at the theories , or to fact check information on specific characters or topics!
petscop by piece order - petscops upload order doesnt accurately reflect the actual series of events. watching through a second time in this speculative chronological order might clear up some confusion! in general i find that rewatching the series once or twice after your first go through is a lot of help in either order, but thats a lot of commitment, so i wont just say "watch it again" haha
i also havent personally watched them, but trusted confidantes tell me that nightmare masterclass's videos on petscop are pretty good + cover a lot of bases. the catch is they're very long and were released while the series was coming out, so there might be a fair amount of missing / incorrect information in the earlier videos.
additionally if theres anything specific you want cleared up, im happy to answer any questions you might have , just shoot me an ask! i would write out my own interpretation, but it would be like, 2000 pages long, so i tend to only be able to answer things that are somewhat speicfic (i.e concerning only one or two plot points, characters, concepts etc at a time)

Can you do one for america
Since I received this about an hour or two after posting my lithuania analysis, I assume you’re asking for an america character analysis. I was debating whether or not to go through with writing this or not for a while, but i’ve decided that I’ll try. I hope you enjoy it!
Idealism
The first thing that sticks out to me when thinking about america is that he’s super idealistic, and I think this has its roots in his birth. Everything in his life has been about hope and being better than others, even down to the decision to colonise north america. England needs to be the most powerful country in europe. Better set up a colony in america so that it can save us. It’s that sort of logic that i think gives america the idea that he needs to be perfect, or that he can be the ideal person. And though a lot of what we consider to be the “american” identity (intense patriotism, nativism, idealism, etc) took recognizable shape in the 19th century, i think this way of thinking was nothing new to alfred. He’d been raised on it, with the desire to please arthur sort of in his blood? Anyway i feel like the idea that the colonies would be so so prosperous really put the idea into america’s head early on that he was perfect and that he was destined to be such a great person, even if that wasn't true. I often see his daddy issues presented as solely abandonment issues, but my interpretation of america is more of a combination of abandonment issues and the pressure, some of it self inflicted, to be a perfect country. Basically, his idealism is deeply rooted in unhealthy places.
Also, a religion headcanon i have is that while he was more raised to be a puritan, freddie prefers quakerism. Though he’s not the most compatible with quakerism, as it rejects violence and quakers often refer to themselves as the society of friends, and are very welcoming, i think it gives him some hope. One of freddie’s biggest problems is that he wants people to be better than they are, and quakerism helps a little with that, because it’s a way that he can help himself become better than he currently is. I feel like he’s been a quaker for a very long time, so he’s not a very good quaker, but this is still something that’s very important to him.
Hero complex and other mental bullshit
America having a hero complex and also being physically 19 is something i think really highly of. First of all, it very much fits with the mythology of america being a sort of world savior. Secondly, a lot of american media focuses on heroism, whether its on the behalf of average people, like the hunger games, or on the behalf of superheroes, like the mcu- especially over the past 20 years. Though i think it’s a good thing to promote heroism, the hero-martyr complex that gen z has is. Oof. And i think alfred fits very well into that toxic sort of “heroism” that most gen z kids have. He thinks he’s somehow able to fix everything wrong with the world, just because he really wants to. Though that desire is genuine, it’s not always something that’s his place to fix or something that even needed fixing. There’s also a selfish component to that- He needs to prove himself, and heroism is the only way he thinks he can do that. It’s why he works out constantly and cares so much, on a personal rather than country-avatar-thing level, about being #1 at everything. He has to be better than everyone else because he has to be the perfect hero.
I also think it’s interesting how america seems to have more pronounced daddy issues than canada, and i think this is something that harkens back to the 13 colonies (side note i hate the term ‘colonial times’ when referring to the time before the revolutionary war or canadian independence. These are settler states, its always colonial times.) and american independence. Canada sort of only exists because of british loyalists, as they made up the majority of the population around the turn of the 19th century. They saw themselves as being The Better Colonists. Real daddy’s boy types, and I think this is something that contributes to the hero complex. Because matthew refused to rebel so openly, that made arthur favor him as a son, so alfred felt the need to be even better than matthew- even though, of course, alfred was a bit more favored.
Fighting Style
Freddie is very good at violence, but not in the same way that a lot of other nations are. Where they tend to be more well trained in specific styles of fighting, freddie just sort of has all of them? His mind is very crowded, i think. Also, the way that he would have learned to fight is different from the other super powerful countries by virtue of his youth, and by virtue of the different regional fighting styles in america. One that’s haunted me is a trend in the ability to rip off ears and noses- Particularly by white gangs in the antebellum south, this was seen as being like. A real badass. I think alfred was something of a feral child. If you know the saying “it takes a village to raise a child,” i think it really did with him. He had so many parents, just like a lot of the western hemisphere countries. But anyway because of all his many many parents, there was never any strong parental force in his life, so it’s more like he didn’t have any at all, and because of that, alfred was a very strange child. And because violence is so ingrained in american society, alfred is very good at fighting, both in order to be fun and flashy and for his own self defense. Though he doesn't really like to fight unless he feels like he has to (and other people are very good at convincing him that he does have to)
Sports
Though america is definitely super athletic and could probably naturally be good at most sports, i think there’s a few that he’d more gravitate towards. Those are basketball, track and field, and olympic lifting. I would include american football but it’s a stupid sport that doesn’t make any sense, so it will not be included for spite reasons. In basketball I think he’s sort of an every-man. I think he’s around six feet tall, so he really could play any position on offense, and as for defense, I think he’d play his best defense against the point guard, bc i feel like Alfred is really fast and good at getting up in your face. He’d have a ton of steals whenever defending against the point guard. I think he’d be a good center on offense, because he’s a bit aggressive and that would be useful for getting rebounds and put-backs, though i wouldn’t discount point-guard freddie, because he does like to be very inspiring. He’s pretty energetic as well, and a point guard can really carry the entire team in terms of energy and spirit. As for track and field, he’d also be an every man- I feel like he’d gravitate more towards sprinting events by personality, but his coach would stick him in wherever. Where olympic lifts are concerned, he’s absolutely a snatch specialist.
Empire and contradictions
America is an empire. No way of getting around that. I think imperialism in hetalia is an interesting subject, especially where america is concerned. @mysticalmusicwhispers did a good job running that down here, but basically my thoughts on the matter are that alfred doesn't really like being an empire. There’s many angles to that. It’s lonely at the top, for one. There’s no one who relates to being a 21st century empire in quite the same way as him. Then you have the fact that a lot of people living in america have suffered under imperialism as well. Because of that, there’s a lot of self hatred and anxiety and a not knowing if he can fully trust himself. Theres also the obsession that many americans have with people from other cultures being able to assimilate to american wasp culture. Because of all the people who live in the states who are very much not wasps and who can never be, it’s really hard on alfred, though he refuses to admit that things are anything but fine.
Extras/Fun stuff
A book that reminds me of him is The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. It’s a collection of short stories about O’Brien’s time serving in the military during the Vietnam War. It’s a very haunting book and I think about it at least once a week, but it is very violent and there’s a lot of fucked up stuff in it.

i feel like this shouldn’t have to be said, but sometimes there’s people who depict him as being pro-trump or pro-right wing bullshit, which. absolutely not. just because of all the political turmoil that exists within alfred, and because of all the pain he goes through because of all the hate that exists within his borders- hate that the entire world is forced to pay attention to. even though he might not have all the best sympathies or motivations, he’s just so tired of all the pain he personally goes through because of domestic political unrest, and would like it to end in the way that’s the least painful for him as a person.

But i do enjoy alfred but not white, as poc are the driving force behind a lot of american life, right down to the languages we speak. i'm about to pass out but needed to write this - JATP + school headcanons
*disclaimer: I am only evaluating their attitudes and performance in what are considered "core" classes in my state. Idk if it is universal. These are also generalizations -- ik theres different types of math and science that they are taking
LUKE
He inspired this so we start with the king
ENGLISH CLASS: He excelled. Somehow, unknowingly, became his teacher's favorite. Did the homework for this class and ONLY this class. A+
MATH CLASS: B-/C+. Does not like math, hates it actually, never did the homework. Somehow averaged a B+/A- on tests and quizzes because he would have Reggie tutor him days before in preparation. Teacher always shocked at how he managed.
HISTORY CLASS: Did not do the homework, but still, like, paid attention?? Had it with all the guys so there were funny moments and events to associate with each lesson and lecture and somehow he remembered it. Again, did not do the homework. Maybe if he was super bored. C+/B-
SCIENCE CLASS: Skipped it most of the time. Would show up for labs and experiments even if he had no clue what was going on. Bobby tried to help but Luke was so uninterested lol, and the teacher was v boring!!! Not fun. D+
LANGUAGE: Took Spanish because its what everyone did??? He thought it would be the most useful but it ended up being such a mistake. He thought that English was complicated, but shit!!! Hard :(( Julie tried to revive his education but fails often (but hes really faking it bc he just wants to keep hearing her speak Spanish and try to teach him). D+/C-
JULIE
ENGLISH CLASS: Aces all of her essays. Emotionally attached to all of her female English teachers!! Sometimes her interpretations of the books are a little off but literally everyone's are. Loves English. A-/A
MATH CLASS: Gifted kid syndrome but only with math if that makes sense?? Got super ahead in elementary and middle school but now that shes in high school she barely knows what's going on and is running out of math classes to take because she was able to jump so much from middle to high school. Has to study the most for this one. Thank god for Reggie. B-
HISTORY CLASS: Could take it or leave it! Likes the subject but hates the teacher. Does well on tests to spite them. Doodles too much on her homework and it annoys the teacher v much. A-
SCIENCE CLASS: kinds vibes ngl??? Something kinds cool about it. Has Flynn in the class, a fun young science teacher, and they all just have a really good time. Julie never really liked science but with the right people and environment shes flourishing!!! A
LANGUAGE: Did not have to take one -- took a fluency exam in Spanish her freshman year. Has minor superiority complex every time Flynn complains about not knowing her language.
REGGIE
ENGLISH CLASS: Got distracted hella easily... Not very fun :( teacher didn't understand that he had ADHD and learned things in a different way. Luke tried to help him cheat on tests tho so he didnt have to repeat the class. D+/C-
MATH CLASS: GENIUS!?!?!?!? GENIUS. Literally took two math classes one year bc he could. Somehow it all made sense. Really loved how numbers were consistent and clearly right or wrong; not subjective. Teachers loved him because he was always kind and positive and brought a smile to everyones face. A+++
HISTORY CLASS: Did not suck at it??? Kinda cool stuff and fun times with his besties. Did better in the class than any of them. Teacher was a total prick tho and Reggie was also late because it was their period right after lunch and he was a slow eater and the teacher didnt allow food. Again: teacher was a prick. B+
SCIENCE CLASS: Enjoyed the labs and experiments, usually aced those because he has exceptional attention to detail. Everything else, not so much. Certain concepts were just very hard to grasp and he had a hard time creating ways to remember things. C+
LANGUAGE: He took French because he knew his mom took French when she was in high school and he thought she could help him and they could bond. That plan didn't really work out -- but he still did okay, even if his mom didn't pay attention. B-
ALEX
ENGLISH CLASS: In between Luke and Reggie -- read the books and retained most of the information, but the essays were not it. He really liked class discussions even though the teacher would tell him his interpretations were wrong (how do you interpret something incorrectly?? Art is up for interpretation?? He will never quite understand). B+/B-
MATH CLASS: Kill him. Least favorite class. Hates math and has hated math since his first lesson on fractions broke his spirit in third grade. Reggie helped him through most of it but shit really did not click. Did his best because his parents would be mad if he didn't. C-/C+
HISTORY CLASS: Very into history for some unknown reason??? The TA in the class was hot so he made sure to pay attention and make a good impression. He was often apologizing for the behavior of his bandmates. A+
SCIENCE CLASS: Did not hate it!!! Had the fun young new teacher instead of the same old dude that had been there for 20 years. She was really fun and sweet (and totally got the vibe he was gay and was super supportive)!!! He didnt quite understand everything but still worked his ass off. B+
LANGUAGE: French with Reggie because he thought it was a more romantic language. Quickly realized his mistake and switched to Spanish the next year. Realized his mistake again (the mistake being that he would be good at learning a new language) and stopped trying lol. C+
FLYNN
ENGLISH CLASS: Her essays are well written because Julie edits all of them. Like Alex, is always told that she is reading the text wrong?? The two of them bond mega over that. Just because she has a wider imagination does not mean she should be punished for it!!! B+
MATH CLASS: Geometry is her jam but algebra makes her wanna commit every degree of murder. Sometimes it clicks and sometimes it definitely does not. Probably dont ask her for help because shes awful at explaining things. B-
HISTORY CLASS: Hates it here!!!!!!!! She hates the curriculum, hates the lecturing, and constantly either feels bored or singled out in every lesson. Is advocating in the district for textbook and curriculum reform to include diverse and pan-ethnic studies. C-
SCIENCE CLASS: Her favorite class!!!!!! Loves everything about it. She isnt learning how the world works through history but instead through the facts of science. She feels invincible in the lab and like she has so much more to discover. She particularly enjoys astronomy. A+
LANGUAGE: Spanish so that Julie could help her out!!! Can barely utter more than 2 sentences in conversation but is perfect on paper and that's more than half of the battle. A-

So first off, your blog is incredible (probs the best buffy blog I have come across so far?) & second, I have gathered you are a spike fan, super curious to hear your thoughts on the terrible episode in season 6 (?) where he tries to r*pe buffy. I feel like everyone tends to ignore the weirdness of season 6 but I really want to explore other folks opinions on it

it got kinda long so im putting my thoughts under a read more. tw for discussion of sexual assault
to be frank i dont think ive actually sat down and watched seeing red since the first time i watched the show back when i was like. 14. a lot of shit goes down in that ep that is not fun to watch, nor was it supposed to be. in my personal opinion, i dont like most of season 6. it starts out fine, bargaining and after life are interesting, engaging episodes. the seeds of everyones explosive interpersonal dramas are about to fully bloom, and theres a lot of narrative tension in that regard. but as the characters unhealthy coping mechanisms start to catch up with them and bad decisions after bad decisions are being made, i no longer enjoyed watching characters i love begin to succumb to their downward spirals. the push/pull of negative character development works for some people, but it just wasnt enjoyable to me. i started this blog in march right around the time i was doing my first s6 rewatch in years and i eventually gave up right before riley shows back up because it wasnt fun for me to watch anymore (also because i think as you were is a dumb episode lol) :/ lmao i guess as a depressed 20 something i dont want to also watch a bunch of depressed 20 somethings struggle with real world problems. im still debating whether to just go back and watch the dark willow eps, bc that was fun to see, but other than that ... :/
back to seeing red, while i hate that it lead to an attempted sexual assault, i can understand the narrative path that got them to that point. spike is absolutely in the wrong, he's the one that took it too far, but regardless, from a character perspective i can see how he got to the bathroom. the buffy/spike sexual relationship is absolutely toxic the moment it begins. its built on misunderstandings, buffy using spike without regard for his feelings not understanding that despite being soulless he is his own person with his own emotions, and spike not understanding why buffy is turning to him, that her own self loathing and depression is what is driving her to him as a means of escape, not truly because of a purer emotion like love which is what he wants. their whole tryst is a stew of muddled yes/no mixed signals. and after buffy decides to break it off with spike for good, as a way for herself to begin healing from her depression, it makes sense that he wouldnt fully believe her. she had been turning her back on him and then crawling back so often, why would this time be different? again with the misunderstandings of the relationship between the both of them. they had reached a standstill where neither party knows how the other is interpreting their actions. i like this excerpt from Critically Touched's review of Seeing Red, because i feel like he is able to explain how they got to that bathroom scene in a very succinct way
"Something had to happen with these two. Spike had to just leave the show, die, or do something so bad to Buffy that he'd need to get a soul to even attempt to make things right with her, despite the fact that having a soul makes him a new individual in the process. So, despite obviously not "enjoying" the scene, I did find it shocking and I did find it valuable from a character perspective. Due to their twisted sexual relationship this season, I'm not convinced anything else other than this would result in Spike fighting for his soul to be not just a better man... but to be a man (which is poetically said in "Beneath You" [7x02])."
here is the link to the rest of the review -> [link] which i feel like, as with his other buffy reviews, is able to objectively analyze the episode in a really interesting and in depth way, and also help contextualize the episode not just within the season but the rest of the show. i recommend looking through the rest of his reviews, its an interesting perspective from someone who clearly loves this show a lot and is willing to take the time to analyze both the narrative threads as well as the character development, giving every single character their dues in his analysis.
i genuinely love both buffy and spike a lot as characters. they are both incredibly engaging and interesting, in how they grow and change throughout the course of the show, as well as how they play off each other and what they bring out in each other. seeing red is a difficult episode for a lot of people, and for good reason. while their relationship was toxic for both parties it was absolutely spike that took it too far, his attempted sexual assault is inexcusable, and he pays dearly for his transgression. i dont know if i will sit down and watch seeing red ever lol, its definitely up there with the body for episodes that i refuse to rewatch often (though for entirely different reasons lol).
i hope i explained that adequately. its a sensitive subject and i kno a lot of people understandably dont like spike because of his actions in s6. he had straddled the line between good and bad for so long that he had to reach some kind of tipping point to either go fully good or fully bad, and if he died or left the show it would have felt that his character arc had been cut short or left unfinished somehow. its unfortunate and terrible that the tipping point had to come at the cost of assault towards buffy, but as Critically Touched said given that the nature of their relationship was roughly sexual and full of misunderstandings, i can see how it ended up in that bathroom.
also just as a quick aside the way the scene is shot does an excellent job of evoking this sense of dread and wrong. you can tell immediately something awful is going to happen and it makes my skin crawl

ok!! so.
frisk (you, the player), has a Determination SOUL, meaning their very being is determined. its them, it's their main,,, character trait, you could say.
because of that determination, frisk is able to save, like in video games. in game these saves are bright, yellow, star/diamond things that are most likely visible only to you/frisk. their are a few fan interpretations of saving I've seen. those arent important currently
loading is the act of returning to your last save point. you reload when you wanna go back and do something, you reload when you die, etc.
resetting is the act of reverting time all the way back to when you fell into the underground, in the ruins, and no one will remember the previous route. you go along the same story, you can choose whether you wanna kill or spare, n all that jazz.
so basically you can stop and start time if you so choose. it's a power that should only fall into the hands of a good person.
take a look at Flowey, who had the ability to do these things before Frisk fell, who's determination overrided whatever it is that let flowey do his time stuff.
now, it's been theorized that sans either 1.) knows about the resets but doesnt remember em, 2.) knows about the resets and remembers em, and 3.) (well, this one just popped in my head) remembers the resets, but chalks em up to nightmares/daydreams.
the third is the less likely option if I'm being honest. not only does it not seem like sans, it's got way less angst potential than the second.
the first one is an interesting one, and does make a little sense. there are many theories that sans used to be a scientist and worked for the previous royal scientist (who's very being was scattered across time and space), W.D. Gaster. I've heard (I have not played the game myself, sadly) that its mentioned/shown somewhere in the game that sans likes to read about space and quantum things. (I'm not sure that's canon). if these things are true, then we have a smart guy who has studied things like timelines (I believe so anyway). it would kind of make sense he knew about the resets, maybe he had a machine that tracked their timelines, I dunno.
(oh, and sans' shortcuts. pretty fuckin sure its teleportation. how can he teleport? no one else has. doesnt make much sense. there are theories on him surviving a fall into the core, others about him being a test subject/experiment.)
now for the second. the majority of the fandom's favorite.
let's say sans remembers and knows about the resets. do you know how awful that'd be? even with pacifist. say, the player/frisk keep doing pacifist over and over. without change. imagine that. being freed from your prison only to wake up back on your shitty mattress. being able to feel the sun on your face after a life of only seeing stone above you. itd be torture, huh?
then there's genocide. Frisk/the player/chara kills everyone. over, and over. leaving sans to watch. his family, his friends. slaughtered in front of his face repeatedly. that's gotta take a toll on your mental health.
keeping all this in mind, what would it be like if sans could reset?
how did he gain the ability?
somehow losing his soul like flowey (wouldnt he be dead?)? gaining enough determination (hed melt, like undyne or the amalgamates*)? fucking around with the broken machine he has in the back of his house (a good idea, but where would he get his parts?**)
*or, we could go with the experiment theory. there the idea he was injected with a small amount of liquid determination by Gaster. DT (determination) isnt good for monsters, though, as they melt. some melting together and forming amalgamates. how would he survive? I've see. something on him possibly also being injected with Justice and Patience (Justice is yellow, patience is light blue. these colors flash in sans' eye.) beforehand that gave him a boost to survive the DT. if this happened maybe the DT did still affect him and drop him down to his current 1 HP, 1 DF, and 1 ATTK.
**alphys. I'm pretty sure its proven in canon that sans and alphys are good friend. alphys is the royal scientist. she might have the parts necessary to repair a broken machine that deals with timelines. she has said herself, in game, that there are alternate timelines.

people who CAN reset: soulless monsters (flowey, unconfirmed others?) beings with determination (theorized) and humans, most of whom have at least a little bit of determination!

jaskier’s breakup album
alright full disclosure i probably went into way more detail than i needed to. but jaskiers a dramatic little shit and therefore so am i. but this album slowly became my baby and I've been listening to it for the last 2 weeks while I've been doing homework and its a good sad bop. these are just my opinions, but i think it would be cool to see what other people think (esp because im fairly new to this fandom). also this post is really long. sorry about that.
so. we all know jaskier is a bard. he traipses around writing songs about whatever fling he's having or about his witcher. netflix canon makes it pretty clear that geralt is one of jaskiers muses (and probably one of his more reliable ones given what we know about jaskiers dating history). jaskier is also very, very dramatic (as I'm sure everyone knows cause he's the damn comic relief that show desperately needs). in particular though the scene at the beginning of 1x05 where geralt is djinn hunting and jaskier stumbles upon him, drunk, singing off key, and rambles about how "the countess de stael, my muse and beauty of this world, has left me. again. rather coldly and unexpectedly, i might add. i fear i shall die a broken hearted man” and jaskier is clearly half muttering some sad attempt at a breakup song he's trying to write at the beginning of the episode so the question is, wouldn't he do the same thing post mountain scream down with geralt?
the answer is of course, yes he would because jaskier is nothing if not a dramatic little shit. and i am proposing that he writes not only one but an entire album (or set if this is canon era, but if this is canon i think he would keep a great many of these songs to himself, only playing a few select ones with the hopes that someday geralt will hear one and realize how badly he fucked up) of break songs and lamentations about geralt, because say all you want about what their relationship is, but one does not simply go traipsing around the entire continent with someone for 20 years and not grow close to them in some way shape or form (and the show makes it clear that geralt is at least one of jaskiers close friends so). now what is on this breakup album? well I'm glad you asked.
i peg jaskiers music (modern or canon honestly) for this album as being a combination of taylor swift’s folklore/evermore albums and james arthur and ill explain why.
taylor swifts folklore/evermore albums have this almost ethereal, floaty, reminiscent, indie vibes. there are many metaphors, recurring themes and its overall kinda dramatic at points which i feel is exactly what jaskier would be doing right now (it also just kinda gives me canon era vibes, idk). but james arthurs music is much more emotionally intense which i think is definitely in character for jaskier at this point because he strikes me as someone who copes with things through his music. both artists do the sings through story telling in an almost monologue manner which goes along with that kinda bardic music and all that. i also think that jaskier would want geralt to know that these songs are about him because hes dramatic like that (kinda like how taylor swift writes her stuff). anyway here's what i think would be on his breakup album:

1. the lakes by taylor swift (more canon era interpretation)
this song is the bonus and final track off of folklore. the song is actually about how she wants to go live in seclusion with her boyfriend out of the public eye but that is not what it means in this interpretation. i think that this song is about how jaskier feels as though his career as a bard is tainted now because he spent so many years singing geralts praises and there is no way he will be able to escape that part of his life because undoubtedly hes going to get requests for toss a coin and others he wrote about geralt and people will probably know him as “the witchers bard”. so this song is him talking about how he wants to run away and live out his life in seclusion because geralt took from him one of the only happinesses in his life.

the line “i dont belong and my beloved neither do you” references the fact that jaskier feels like an outcast now that he’s spent years traveling around with a witcher, notoriously outcasts from society, so he feels that he doesnt belong anymore either.
I want auroras and sad prose
I want to watch wisteria grow
Right over my bare feet
'Cause I haven't moved in years
And I want you right here
the second stanza references his idealization of living out his life in solitude, with nature, where no one can judge him (and geralt cant yell at him).
jasper would have started this album with that song because it states his intentions: he feels as though he’s done with singing. it could also refer to him leaving the public eye (in modern era) to write this album.
2. from me to you i hate everybody by james arthur (more canon era interpretation)
songs 2-4 on jaskiers album are ones that he wrote at various points while he and geralt were still together/best friends/etc. these three songs establish what the relationship was like before everything went downhill, but they are kind of melancholy, like looking back on a past love (which is what jaskier is doing). this one jaskier wrote about when they met. geralt would have heard him play it before and he would have known that this song was about him (he probably also secretly liked it and jaskier putting it on his album would have been like a slap in the face because it wasn't one that he had shared with other people, thinking it to be too personal). if this album had been released in modern era, jaskier would have released this song as a single to get geralts attention. he would have definitely wanted geralt to know that this album was about him.

In suits and ties again and I just need a friend
they meet in the tavern and its clear that jaskier is Not having a good time and really just needs a friend, hence why he decides to go talk to geralt.

Sobering mind 'cause up to now, I've just been wasting my time, ooh yeah
the “wasting my time” part is of particular interest because it clearly articulates that jaskier feels as though adventuring around with geralt was the best part of his life and before that he'd just been a bard with debatable songs. the song as a whole makes it sound like geralt was jaskiers lifeline.
3. maybe by james arthur (modern or canon era works)
this song, while geralt would know immediately it was about him, was not one jaskier ever shared with geralt. it would have been written a few years after he and geralt had met initially. the reason that jaskier never shared it was because it talks about destiny and geralt made it Very Clear that he does not want to fuck with destiny.

this would have been what young jaskier felt over the course of a few years after traveling around (or befriending if this is modern). There was probably a slip up somewhere, or jaskier just thought that he got really good at interpreting geralts grunts and the line about the eyes is what he hoped/imagined/thought geralt was saying to him in return.

jaskier probably thinks that destiny is some wildly romantic thing hence why he compares them meeting to destiny. the line about heart break would have also hit especially hard after the mountain scene. also i think its pretty clear that jaskier wants to spend as much of his life traipsing around with geralt in the show (modern era wouldn't have been any different), hence wanting to spend the rest of his life with geralt.

this is the part that sells it for me. i think that geralt lambert and eskel would all be very close (admittedly i havent read the books but i kinda get that vibe from the fandom so). this part about geralt telling his bothers about jaskier and then jaskier probably meeting them would have been an Important Moment.

aright so im not sure if geralt has heard this one before. i can see it going both ways. its a possibility that jaskier wrote it at some point and then would kinda sing it softly when hes patching geralt up after a particularly rough hunt so its one of those where like geralts not quite sure what the song is but then he hears it on this album (cause say this was modern era and jaskier actually did release this album geralt would totally buy it after a few weeks and then realize how badly he'd actually fucked up) and is like shit thats what he was singing all along?? but anyway this one is essentially about how jaskier thinks geralt puts too much pressure on himself and all that stuff

so this song begins the plethora of break up songs that jaskier wrote about geralt. this one would have been written some time after the incident, after jaskier has some time to reflect on the whole thing. i know that taylor wrote this song about enduring a toxic relationship, which kind of works if you think about the way that geralts treated jaskier and how jaskier interpreted it (but im not implying that their relationship was toxic or abusive or anything)

this is a little more literal with the screaming on the cliffside. jaskier wanted a reason to stay and geralt didnt want him to. jaskier knows that witchers dont feel emotions (or at least not like humans do) so hes been tricking himself into believing that geralt actually liked having him around, knowing that it was probably going to blow up in his face at some point. but he doesnt quite regret it, and doesnt want to be sad over anyone else.
6. naked by james arthur (modern or canon works)
this kind of goes along with hoax, jaskier probably wrote them around the same time. he’s admitting in this song that he would be willing to try to work it out with geralt, but geralt needs to change first (needs to actually communicate and let him in and all that stuff).

hes quoting geralts words back at him here ( “all you ever do is mess it up” is pretty similar to the line about shoveling shit), saying that all hes ever tried to do is be good and kind to geralt, but geralt hasn't really done the same in return and while jaskier may have dragged him into some things, geralt also needs to take responsibility for what hes done as well.
7. right where you left me (modern or canon works)
this starts the Real Sad Boy Hours songs. this would refer to how he felt pretty much right after, not knowing what to do because geralt had been so much a part of his life for so long:

Some perspective, but I sat and stared
this is kind of the processing of the event. and also the moment on the album where the audience would realize that this relationship that he's been telling about until now definitely ended. this song isn't super super emotional, its more a jumble of thoughts cause he didnt know what to feel after the breakup happened. although he didnt write it right after the break up, it was written much after as a looking back.
8. all too well by taylor swift (modern or canon era works)
(the link to this one is from a live performance because i like the emotion in this one better) so this song is not off of folklore (its off of red) but its such a powerful, painful breakup song that i had to include it in the lineup because it seems like something that jaskier would have written very very soon after the incident. the memories especially that she touches on in the song (driving upstate, dancing in the fridge light, looking at the photo album, etc) are all very powerful and real and i can see jaskier doing the same thing. again, if this were modern era i think that he might release this one as a single. theres so much to unpack in this song, this ones gonna be a little longer oops.

this clearly references the mountain scene. they were a pretty good duo until geralt blamed him for all his problems. and jaskier was effectively stuck on the top of a very dangerous mountain that he would have had to navigate down by himself.

jaskier spent half of his life following geralt around, its likely that he doesnt know what to do with himself or his life now that he doesnt have geralt to follow around on adventures. he doesnt know what to do anymore (see the first song).

You can't get rid of it, 'cause you remember it all too well, yeah
this is more of a hope that jaskier has. he hopes that geralts held onto something of his that he left behind. maybe he left a shirt in one of roaches saddle bags (canon) or a notebook in their apartment (modern) that geralt just cant seem to get rid of. he would like to think that he had an impact on geralts life and that it wasn't just all for nothing. in the beginning, he wants geralt to be just as hurt as he is.

this is a dig at geralt. he'd never had someone to follow him around on adventures before, much less a human. as far as we know it seems like jaskiers the first human that has even given him the time of day. this is jaskiers way of throwing it back in geralts face

this would have also been written very soon after the incident. it is more jaskier being mad at himself for not seeing the signs than him being mad at geralt. it is almost like his admittance of the event and like hes finally accepting what happened.

jaskier is someone who clearly falls in love (or at least screws around with people) easily so its likely that someone would have given him some advice along these lines once. but when he met geralt its likely that this caution went to the wind.

Shout it from the rooftops
Write it on the skyline

this hints at the first song on the album. jaskier has no stomach for singing for audiences asking to hear about the adventures of geralt of rivia. this is his way of telling geralt that, almost as his punishment, he should have to deal with the people who ask why hes not traveling with his bard anymore, because jaskier has no intention of doing so. this is pretty brutal because (as we know) geralt doesnt really enjoy talking about feelings, or talking at all in general.
10. exile by taylor swift (modern or canon era works)
this is a fictitious conversation that jaskier wrote as occurring between him and geralt. it can be looked at either way but i think it makes more sense if bon iver is jaskier and taylor is geralt.

this first chorus is from jaskiers perspective. note the use of “homeland,” as home becomes a theme on jaskiers album. in geralts version of the chorus the line instead is “youre not my problem anymore” which is probably what jaskier took the whole mountain thing to mean.

(the () in this are geralt) this is jaskiers lamentations about how he didnt notice geralts abject discomfort in their relationship and also his regrets in not being able to remedy the situation.
11. illicit affairs by taylor swift (modern or canon works)
so this song is clearly and obviously about an affair. however, i have seen interpretations of the song where people view it as being in a relationship that is so intense and well hidden that in a sense it is almost like an affair, like in the aftermath you’re not even sure if it was real or you deemed it because there isnt really a trace of this other person anymore, and that is the way i think jaskier would have written this song.

the dont call me kid, dont call me baby part would reference jaskiers humanity, he has a normal human lifespan at least in canon (very much unlike geralt) so geralt might brush him off as being young and stupid. jaskier would have made this album to show geralt that hes not being young and stupid, that this did screw him up, and hes suffering cause of it. kind of like a reality check or a slap in the face.

the secret language would of course refer to geralt himself. hes a hard man to understand (especially cause half his vocabulary is grunts) and hes also a witcher. so jasper had to learn to understand him and now he has no use for that anymore. and the ending line about ruining myself. that would be jaskiers admittance that he would do it again, he'd do it all again, which comes back up in later songs.
12. safe inside by james arthur (canon era interpretation)
this is one that jaskier would have written maybe a week or so after the incident. the song itself deals with distance and coping with not being in someones life anymore, and i think that that is something that jaskier would struggle to cope with because hes not sure he wants geralt to be alone. this song is more for jaskier than for geralt.

And I'm sure things will work out okay

It's a beautiful life
obviously geralt can take care of himself, but its kinda clear that he doesnt much like his life as a witcher (the part where he talks about them getting slow and killed). so this is kind of jaskiers way of almost reminding geralt that his life on the path is still beautiful and important now that he back by himself.

this is more jaskier worrying about geralt being by himself. he hopes that hes okay in the aftermath of this this and that hes taking care of himself still. because of course jaskier would write a whole breakup album but still write one song about how he hopes the person is doing well.
13. quite miss home by james arthur (modern era interpretation)
this song. oh my god. its so amazing. if you dont listen to any of these, at least listen to this one (actually im pretty sure no ones read to this point so if you have thanks). this song is kind of more along the same vein as the previous one, how jaskier misses geralt but its more for him than geralt. he would have probably written it at like 3am in a fit of tears and weakness, and debated long and hard about whether or not to put it on the album, but done it anyway because what does he have to lose? theres a lot to unpack here tho so this is going to be a longer one. (sorry)

All these memories feel poignant

this is a very very clear picture of an event that seems to have happened a great many times, so much so that it seems like second nature. its like a little glimpse into what their life was before this incident. its intimate, but it still is melancholy.

this is where jaskier is now, it provides some opposition. its like a culture shock almost, like hes so used to this intimate lifestyle with another person that its jarring to be by himself.

the key here is what jaskier is referring to as “home.” it's not the place, its geralt himself. all these memories center around him, not an establishment. (calling geralt “home” comes back in later songs.) again, this mosh of memories is like theres so many of them that its almost overwhelming but its stemming from jaskiers need to feel something other than lonely and hes craving this reality that hes lost.
14. my tears ricochet by taylor swift (modern or canon era works)
this is a song that really emphasizes jaskiers dramatic little shit tendencies. this is something that he wrote, trying to predict what geralts reaction would be if he found out that jaskier died. this is really just jaskier fantasizing that geralt didnt actually mean any of what he said and does still care about him. theres many lines in here that are jabs at geralt (if I'm dead to you why are you at the wake? and Even on my worst day Did I deserve, babe All the hell you gave me?), but i think this is the most important one:

this is again, jaskier referring to geralt as home. as seen in the last song, he clearly wants to go there, but he cant. this could also refer to where he grew up, which he cant go to either because his parents still view him as a disappointment (as seen in finally). jaskier saying he still talks to geralt is completely in character, he probably still curses him and the whole thing. but the part about geralt not being able to sleep at night and hearing his stolen lullabies is really hard hitting. jaskier likes to think that geralt wouldn't be able to sleep without his banter or his lute playing or something of that nature. over all its a very powerful song.
15. phoenix by james arthur (modern or canon works)
this is a fictitious apology that jaskier wrote from geralts pov, kind of what he wished that geralt would say, but knows that he won't.

in this “geralt” outlines what he did wrong, and that he didnt mea what he said at all. again, this is more for jaskiers benefit because he knows that even if geralt were to apologize to him, it wouldn't be to this extent.
16. this is me trying by taylor swift (modern or canon works)
this is jaskier trying to articulate the fact that hes trying to pick himself back up after everything, his way of showing his “healing process” and that he can do it, he doesnt need geralt (as the song shows, its not going very well)
And it's hard to be at a party
When I feel like an open wound
It's hard to be anywhere these days

You're a flashback in a film reel
On the one screen in my town
And I just wanted you to know
That this is me trying (maybe I don't quite know what to say)

That this is me trying
its showing that jaskier is having trouble enjoying things that he once did (like parties) because hes still so distraught over what happened with geralt, but at the same time he also wants to show geralt that he doesnt need him. it has a very i dont care kind of attitude, but jaskier at the same time is having a hard time showing geralt that hes doing okay, hence the “maybe i dont quite know what to say” which is out of character for the very talkative bard
17. happiness by taylor swift (modern or canon works)
this is more him convincing himself that things will be okay. he's clearly trying at this point to move on, but its proving difficult because geralt was his happiness for so long:

But there was happiness because of you
Both of these things can be true
There is happiness
he also repeats the line “havent me the new me yet” a few times, which i think is again him trying to convince himself that its going to get better and he will move on from it. but this line is the one that i think hurts the most:
No one teaches you what to do
When a good man hurts you
And you know you hurt him too
this implies that 1. he still thinks geralts a good man (not a monster) and 2. that he knows he hurt him to and doesn't know how to fix either of them. this is also kind of him giving up on how to fix it, but him recognizing they were both at fault is important for the arc of the story.
18. death by a thousand cuts by taylor swift (modern or canon works)
this is another song that is not off of folklore (its from lover), but i wanted to include it because it think it has a little bit of anger to it (especially in this live acoustic version that i linked) which i think that jaskier would feel a few weeks post incident in a fit of rage, like why am i still feeling this way? why did you think that this was okay?? and its right after happiness, which shows that his healing really isn't linear. there's many lines in this song that pertain to geralt and jaskier and i could talk about the whole thing but im not going to
But if the story's over, why am I still writing pages?
this i think is very jaskier. its so raw and like, i know this is over, why am i still writing about it? why am i making an album about this? why should this still matter to me? its very angry and again, like many of the songs, like a slap.

this part, especially if you listen to her sing it, (which i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND BTW) is very passive aggressive and the the last line is like quite sarcastic and downplays it, like, yes you put me through all of this, but i guess its *just* a thousand cuts. this really shows that in many ways geralt was a part of jaskiers life, and his sudden removal from it would have stung in many ways, and thats not something that you can get over quickly.
19. empty space by james arthur (modern or canon era works)
this song starts the beginning of jaskier getting over geralt. these last 4 songs would have been written much after the incident, after hes had time to think, but there's still this nagging in the back of his head thats like, well what if im being stupid and he is the one and im supposed to go back?

this is more what jaskier wants to be, not what he actually is. he thinks that hes over geralt, but hes not (the chorus gets into it more but im not going to talk about it here, but it essentially says “only you can fill this empty space”) clearly jaskier is further along in his healing process, but hes still having second thoughts. he wants to be over him, but he knows hes lying to himself, very deep down.
20. coney island by taylor swift (more modern era interpretation)
this is the true moving on song. it’s still laced with memories and speculation, but it puts clear distance between the two of them, much more so than empty space does because it lacks the longing. it just shows things for what they are.
And I'm sitting on a bench in Coney Island

The fast times, the bright lights, the merry go
Sorry for not making you my centerfold
its apologetic, but nothing more than that. it dwells more on what could have been rather than what he wants it to still be.
The question pounds my head

this is interesting because it addresses their immortality and how they've been together for years and also the way in which they left things (paradise). but it also implies that things were on the downfall. and the last two lines about forgiveness is interesting because it then calls geralt “too wise to trust me and too old to care” meaning its more a wish of jaskiers rather than something he knows geralt will do.

these are all very specific, very intimate moments that would clearly mean something to geralt. and it further implies that jaskier is uncertain if he actually made geralt feel appreciated when they were together. but again, its more what could have been rather than what jaskier wanted it to be, which is a nice segway into the last two songs.
21. new years day by taylor swift (modern era interpretation)
this is another one not from folklore, this song is the closing track on reputation, but i like the nostalgia of it so i decided to include it (and it also has good parallels to the last song). initially jaskier intended for this to be the last song on the album, but decided to add another one last minute (and we will get into why). this song is more jaskiers muted longing to still be with geralt, albeit in the far future.
There's glitter on the floor after the party

this interpretation is very much like the actual songs interpretation: the desire to stay with someone through the unexciting parts of life, like cleaning up after a party on new years day. additionally, wanting to start something new with someone (being there with them past the midnight kiss and actually starting the first day of the year with them). additionally though, there is the line of “dont read the last page” which refers to the last song on the album, which we will get to.
Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you
And I will hold on to you
Please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere
this is more jaskiers reality. hes torn between holding onto these memories and hopes and actually facing reality. he wants to hold on to geralt, but he also kinda wants to move on. and the last line about the laugh, thats more jaskiers own hope, he hopes that he will come across geralt again and things will work themselves out.
22. the 1 by taylor swift (modern era interpretation)
the decision to make this song the last one on the album was a very last minute decision, and it was written significantly after the rest of the songs. the reason for this was without this last song, the album ends on a note of hope “Please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere” but this last song is more of a reality check and acknowledgment that what's done is done and that it will never be again.
I'm doing good, I'm on some new shit
Been saying "Yes" instead of "No"
I thought I saw you at the bus stop, I didn't though
this refers to the fact that its been some time since the whole thing and jaskiers kind of changed a little bit. he claims hes doing good, and maybe is going to try out a new career (since the first song references wanting to put music down for awhile). seeing geralt at the bus stop is a reference to cardigan where he says “chasing shadows in the grocery line” where hes not actively looking for geralt anymore and it doesnt upset him that he didnt see him.
I guess you never know, never know
And if you wanted me, you really should've showed
And if you never bleed, you're never gonna grow
And it's alright now
this is jaskier saying that hes almost glad that it happened because it gave him a new perspective and it was a learning experience. he also says that its alright, which is the second time that hes said hes okay, which probably means he isnt completely, but hes much closer than he was on the rest of the album because hes not still looking for geralt at every turn

And it's another day, waking up alone
this is jaskier acknowledging the fact that geralt has probably long since moved on with his life, either with other romantic people or with his life entirely (the first time he does this on the album). he says that while their love or friendship was unconventional it still was definitely something (implying that it may have been one of the greatest loves of his life). and the waking up alone part references quite miss home and being by himself, but it isnt sad, its just a fact at this point.
But we were something, don't you think so?
Roaring twenties, tossing pennies in the pool
And if my wishes came true
It would've been you
In my defense, I have none
For never leaving well enough alone
But it would've been fun
If you would've been the one
this is the part where we see that jaskier has grown. hes recognized that his wanting to be with geralt was never anything more than a fleeting wish or a moment that couldn't last. but he knows that it had potential and it could have worked but it didnt and thats okay. in the last chorus the pennies line is “rosé flowing with your chosen family” which implies that he and geralt were close enough to know each others family (chosen or real), meaning that it meant something. and he wouldn't have minded a long term relationship with geralt, but its not what happened.
in new years day jaskier says “dont read the last page” this song is that last page. part of him still doesnt want geralt to know that hes put aside the hope of it working because he wants to still keep himself open for geralt, but knows that its not healthy and ultimately he needs to move on. hes essentially giving geralt the choice: remember jaskier as wanting to get back with him (since the last line of the album would have been “please dont ever become a stranger who's laugh i could recognize anywhere” or let him have the knowledge that jaskier is done with him (since the official last line of the album is “but it would have been fun if you would've been the one”)

Context for this piece was to be mostly a headcanon romp and to show of what the dynamic of my own interpretation of adult years Bederia would be like. It got to be too long and had not much happening in it, and When I realised I didn’t know exactly where I wanted to go with it; I got unfortunately bored of it rather quickly.
But, I hope you’re maybe able to find something interesting in here, anyway!

Gloria was having a bad day.
It started the moment she woke up that morning to find that her boltund had gotten into her pokefood supplies at some point during the night and, after gorging themselves on around a quarter of the giant bag of food meant to feed six pokemon for 5 weeks; had then proceeded to regurgitate it all up in her bathroom and was forced to clean it up and make sure the criminal boltund was alright at around six o’clock in the morning. She dropped her shower head on her foot while taking her morning shower and slipped and fell on the tiles while picking it up, and she knew she was going to be seeing a nasty bruise somewhere on her body later because of it.
Then, as she was preparing her breakfast; she found out the weather forcasted for rain and thunderstorms; on the day she was supposed to be meeting up with her friends for a long-awaited lunch they’d been planning at one of their regular spots. She accidentally burnt her toast while thinking about it, and dropped an egg on the floor while she was trying to cook two.
Then, she had gotten the call from Hop.
“Uh, so, me and Marnie won’t be able to make it to lunch today.” Hop’s voice was hesitant, fast, and apologetic; and Gloria swallowed thickly as she heard loud noises in the background of the call.
“How come? Did something happen?” There was a stern female voice in the background, followed by a loud crash, and Gloria winced.
Morpeko must be having another outburst.
“Yeahhh, you could say that, mate. Just-uh-I’m really sorry, Gloria, If we can get this solved quickly I can-”
“No, no, it’s okay! It sounds like theres a lot happening there. Did you two…Need any extra help?” She chewed her bottom lip, anxiously. Hop’s answer was immediate.
“No! No, it’s alright! You just go on ahead without us! Tell, uh—Tell Bede we said hey; and—oh, right—ask him if he’s planning on RSVP’ing anytime soon, we need to finalise our numbers.” Gloria nodded, before realising Hop wouldn’t be able to see her answer.
“Sure; and you’re absolutely sure you guys don’t need any help?” A hiss was heard.
“Positive, Gloria. Besides, you know how annoying Bede gets when plans change suddenly. I gotta go, but i’ll call you later, okay?”
“Alright, good luck calming Morpeko.” Hop snorted on the other line, and she could practically hear the grin in his voice.
“Thanks, mate! Catch you later! Sorry again!” As soon as he hung up; Gloria felt her stomach twist with a sick emotion she’d found herself becoming all-too-familiar with lately, and, with a defeated sigh, she collapsed back onto her couch, mindlessely flicking on the tv for white noise.
Gloria prayed that the rest of her day wasn’t as awful as her morning was.

The rest of the day wasn’t much better.
After later sending Bede a message of the change of plans; she stepped in a large puddle almost as soon as she exited her apartment complex, splashing water over herself, leaving her legs cold and wet as she made her way to the cafe. She shook off her umbrella, stepping inside, and was greeted by a waiter and an indeedee; who escorted her to a booth seat after she gave them her reservation name.
A booth meant to fit four people.
With a heavy sigh, Gloria all but collapsed down onto the seat, letting her head fall back against the cushioned seat. As she turned her head to look out to the rainy street, unsurprisingly bustling despite the rain. While normally Gloria would be eager to see her friends, she was, instead, thankful that Bede wasn’t there yet.
It wasn’t because she hated Bede though, or anything of the sort, really. In fact; her problem wasn’t that she wanted to be away from him; it was that whenever she was around him, she wanted him alarmingly close. It was something she could handle if they were surrounded by others, usually; since there were others to distract her; but when it was just the two of them, alone, it became much more troublesome. She’d become hyper-aware of his presence at all times, any time he’d look her in the eyes or say her name she would find herself heating up, stomach would fill with butterflies, her fingers would twitch and frequently find she wanted to shove herself into his personal space. Wanted to grab his face in her hands and Do something.
She wasn’t sure what, exactly, she would even do, though. Pinch his cheeks, maybe? contort his mouth into an awkward smile like she used to do when they were kids?
….Kiss him?
Gloria exhaled, closing her eyes. There had come a certain point in Gloria’s life where she had to admit to herself that, yes, she did have a crush on Bede. It had just hit her one day, when they were talking together during a camping trip with Hop and Marnie. the latter were off cooking while her and Bede had sat together, playing with their pokemon and idly debating over something. It was a little heated, sure, but most of their conversations were; and they were having fun, nonetheless. Mid-debate; Gloria’s boltund had bounded up to Bede with a happy huff and plopped themselves down right on his lap, bringing a pause to their conversation as Bede looked down at the dog, then Gloria, with an expression halfway between bewildermant and offense. She had laughed, and he had let out an indignant huff; before he relaxed and, surprising her, he reached down to scratch behind the dog’s ears. And she wasn’t sure what exactly it was; but all to quickly, her world had come crashing down on top of her and all that was left in her brain as she watched her boltund melt into Bede’s touch and he, in turn, let out a sound; a gentle, amused sigh; his face soft in a way she’d only ever seen a few rare times; was four words.
“Oh. I like him.”
And; well, really, it had all just been downhill from there for Gloria. Her fondness for him only grew; and Slowly, over the years, he’d been letting her in more and more, letting her see far beyond what was on the surface.
She found him endearing; despite everything. Deeply flawed, but endearing nonetheless. However, she wasn’t sure where to even begin when it came to approaching Bede about the subject. He had never expressed much desire or interest in pursuing any sort of romantic relationship. At least, none that she herself had ever seen. And Bede was, to put it simply, a very private and closed-off person, and much like a stray cat; one wrong move and he’d be spooked off; potentially forever; and that was the last thing she wanted to happen.
But, oh did she want to love him so badly. There was so much she wanted. She wanted to talk and laugh with Bede, hold his hand in hers; hug him and not be shoved unceremoniously off him, she wanted to kiss him all over his face and instead of him grimacing, she wanted him to smile and kiss her back. She’d like to spend the night with him, eating dinner with him, having those conversations with him that always somehow seemed to devolve into semi-heated debates because their differing ideas until they both inevitably passed out together.
Gloria was so deep in her pining for Bede that it was frustrating her now; because as much as she just wanted to blurt out how she felt, she knew that it would lead to nothing good. She’d always made the mistake of running her mouth; hell, she STILL frequently made that mistake, but this was the one thing she wasn’t completely willing to let fall apart in front of her. No, she’d come too far with Bede at this point and she outright refused to lose his friendship. So for once in her life; she would bite down on her tongue.
Because she’s not quite sure she could handle losing Bede from her life; no matter how frustrating it was for her to swallow how much she felt for him.
There was a noise, and she felt something on her shoulder, shaking her. Gloria eyes snapped open, her vision blurry for a few moments as they readjusted to the light flooding in again as she looked around, confused.
How long had she been zoning out? Had she fallen asleep?
“Ah, there you are. Rather unwise of you to fall asleep in a public place like this, Gloria.” Gloria’s eyes fell on Bede, standing beside her booth, shiny spritzee hovering around him out of the corner of her eye as she caught the last moments of him removing his hand from her shoulder, and she stared dumbly up at him for a few seconds.
Oh. Bede was here now.
“You’re here.” Bede scoffed, shaking his head as he took his seat across from her in the booth.
“Astute observation.” His eyes fell on her for a brief moment as he reached for the menu that sat in front of him. “I apologise for my being tardy. the weather caused some delays.”
“You were late?” She scrambled for her rotom phone; and, sure enough, he was about fifteen minutes late. “Oh. It’s okay. I didn’t even notice.”
“Of course you didn’t; you were passed out. I doubt you even received my message.” Gloria switched to her messaging app. Oh. He had left her a message earlier, stating that he may be arriving late.
“Ah. Oops.” Bede hummed non-committedly in return, looking over the menu; his left hand over his mouth in that stupidly endearing thoughtful pose of his.
“I take you haven’t even ordered yet?” Gloria realised she hadn’t even picked up the menu herself yet, and she fumbled to do so, her face feeling familarly warm and her palms beginning to sweat.
“Nope. Was waiting for you.” It didn’t take her long to decide on what she wanted; and Bede didn’t respond; so she instead took that time to look at Bede across from her as his focus lay on his own menu.
There was something different…
She squinted, leaning forward a bit. There was definitely something different about him. Bede took notice of her expression, lilac eyes flicking up to her, confusion knitted his features.
“What on earth are you staring at—”
“—Did you get a haircut?” Bede’s eyes widened a little, and Gloria knew she’d hit the nail on the head. She leaned back again into her chair, smiling. Truthfully, it wasn’t a big change. She had just noticed that he had gotten his curls trimmed a little on the nape of his neck. But it looked nice on him, regardless.
“I…yes, I did, actually.” His eyes flicked away from her, and Gloria’s smile grew wider. “I’m rather surprised you noticed, actually. You’re the first one to do so today.”
“‘Course I noticed! Looks good; looks handsome!” Bede’s face snapped immediately snapped back to look at hers, his eyes wide and shocked; and Gloria would have slapped herself right then if she could have.
“—For, uh, you know! It’s—uh, appropriate! Like—like Ballonlea’s gym leader ‘ought look good, right? Opal always used to say presentation was important, yeah?” She fumbled through her words, and she could feel the eyes of both Bede and his spritzee on her. His Spritzee, in particular, hovered over her, her bright yellow eyes staring straight through her. “I…I just think you look…nice…” Her words peetered out pathetically as she sunk a little into her seat. Bede’s gaze upon her was incredulous; and she would have normally delighted in the way his pale cheeks were flushed red if she wasn’t so embarrassed herself. After what felt like a century; Bede finally looked away from her, clearing his throat awkawrdly.
“…Right. Well; shall we order?” Gloria nodded fervently as she lifted her hand to hail down a waiter. As the two ordered their food and drinks, Bede went off on a tangent about his most recent auditions at Ballonlea, and Gloria sat and listened to his every haughty, smug word, thankful that he hadn’t chosen to comment further on her earlier stumble.

It was halfway through her meal, and after she’d taken a much-too-large bite of her sandwich, that Gloria remembered what Hop had asked of her that morning. Her cheeks too stuffed to say anything, Gloria instead waved her hand in front of Bede’s face to get his attention.
“Mmf—Hey, Bede—”
“Chew and swallow before speaking, Gloria; you’re not a toddler.” He scrunched up his nose in that cute way he always did as he looked at her with mild disgust. Gloria rolled her eyes; but did take a moment longer to actually chew and swallow her mouthful. With and exhale, she quickly took a gulp of her drink, ignoring the sigh of disappointment that Bede, and finally turned back up to look at him again.
“Hop wanted to know if you were gonna RSVP for the wedding or not.” The mention of the wedding caused Bede to tense, and he carefully put down his utensils.
“I…Haven’t yet made a decision.”
“Why not? S’not like you’re the one getting married.”
“Yes, but Gloria what you don’t understand is that I do not particularly want to attend their wedding.”
“Why? They’re our friends; we should be there on their big day.” Bede opened his mouth to say something, but Gloria continued. “—And they ARE both of our friends, we are PAST trying to deny this.” Bede closed his mouth again with a sigh. “—So theres really no reason for you to have put it off for so long.”

wait, hol' on- I'm pretty sure all the souls made it to Asgore. They could load, too. And Toriel says something similar when you encounter her after a reset -- some deja vu thing //but it's sad to think they were killed by him over and over until they gave up ;-;
((Ehh...I've heard a lot of people say this, but honestly, it just makes no sense to me
If the other human souls would have been able to SAVE and LOAD, they just would have kept trying over, and over again. And Frisk would have probably never fallen, and Asgore wouldnt have six souls. If the souls could LOAD their last SAVE, theyd just keep doing that until they eventually didnt die (or got past Asgore somehow)
Justin would have deffinately used SAVING and LOADING. But if he had, he probably would have just kept trying and trying until he defeated Asgore...then...well, who knows what could have happened!
I imagine that Justin had experienced SAVING and LOADING (because I think Flowey still could have used his powers, even when the other humans were there. Not only that, but they really should all be somewhat familiar with SAVING and LOADING becaude of the Omega Flowey fight) , but Justin wasnt able to use it.
I dont see that making a lot of sense. Ive seen the thing about what Toriel tells you after a RESET in the Ruins, but honestly, what she says could be literally true.
The other 6 humans were children, they all spent time with Toriel in the Ruins, just like Frisk had. Whether it was for a very long time, or a very short time. And Toriel, as we all know, loves children. She wants to protect them, and educate them, shes very motherly! So saying that she "Feels like she already knows humans when they fall down here" Could just be her motherly instinct talking, or, Toby just added that in there so players could be like "Oh dang, this game remembers"
And lastly, for my interpretation of the 6 fallen humans, all of them making it to Asgore just...doesn't work.
There souls were all given to Asgore, but the only one that really had a chance or reason to actually go to Asgore, was Justin.
Pate...didnt really go to the Underground for a good reason. Everyone else had a reason like, "I want to know if the stories are true" or "I want to help some one I love"
But she...just wanted to get away from things, she just wanted to leave, and never come back. I just can't see her going to Asgore. I see her staying with Toriel, and never leaving her care because she felt wanted when she was with Toriel.
But y'know, we dont really know what truly happened! Theres not a ton of evidence or backstory, just some lines of dialogue here and there.
If you think the souls could SAVE and LOAD, and that they all managed to make it to Asgore, thats completely fine with me! Everyones interpretations are different, and they are all interesting in their own ways!!

There are honestly so many good writers on here (like you) and i would like to improve my writing skillz/be able to write my own HCs and stories without feeling like i’m gonna embarrass/make a fool out of myself. Got any advice??🥺
I am not very good at advice unfortunately ;-;-;-;-;-;-; I took a creative. writing class for my senior english credit in high school, but most of the writing tips were peer review stuff. There was no like 'useing this writing method is the best' or something like that.
Writing is all about rhetoric. Theres very many ways to write and they all have their own advantages in different situations. And dont forget every writer had their own writing style. I happen to use a lot of figurative language and use a lot of alternatives to 'he said she said' but figurative writing is hard for some people to understand, and I sometimes go so deep into the analogy and figurativeness of if that it doesnt make sense to others who read it. I also often times forget that saying 'he said she said' works just as well as an alternative - you just have to be careful to not overuse or make them sound repetitive.
All in all, writing is interpretive and collaborative on a very wide scale. If you want to improve your writing, I suggest learning more about rhetoric and reading things that have different writing styles - like a poem vs a short story. And even the genre matters too. You get more fluffy writing styles in romance and more physical descriptions in fighting books. Branch out a bit and find a little bit of every writing style and type you can. Figgure out which one is easiest for you to write, which one you like more, and which ones work the best with what you wanna write.
You can also learn more about punctuation to add more posibilitys - like this little dash I just used. I'm my english 101 class in college, I had a text book that told you how to use a bunch of punctuation Mark's, and my teacher told me to read that section after he found me using some of them in the wrong way. The book is called: the every day writer 6th eddition by Andrea A. Lunsford. I didnt exactly read the whole book, but I'm sure theres other things in there to help you improve your writing too. Or I suppose you could just look it up. I'm old tho (not really I just do old things), so I'm going to keep the textbook with me for a little while longer. At least untill I finish all my required writing and english classes
My writing style didnt involve a lot of paying attention to writing in general, which I'm a little glad about. Most of the time it just comes naturally for me. I think to myself 'does this sound right?' when I reread through it. But also I hate that that's my method at times because when I'm unsure of how something sounds I dont have like, a rulebook I can look through to tell me. Instead I'll usually set it down for a long time till I forget about it then revisit it with a fresh mind.
One of the most important things in writing is to know that your writing sounds different in your head while you are writing it, and while you are rereading it. I started writing a story in 9th grade and revisited it in my creative writing class in 12th grade, and found it to be so absolutely horrible I restarted the whole thing and it's much better now. Unfortunately the google doc I was writing it on got deleted somehow so I lost everything I hadent already posted on wattpad and quotev ;-;-;-;-;-:

bane “nochedura” bane timeline of events
so the thing about bane is most of the shit written with him in it is a) racist, b) ooc, c) a horrible mix of both, or d) uses him because of his status as Bat Breaker as a way to show someone else’s strength which is often times not realistic (ex. theres a new villain in town and to show how tough they are they clowned on bane). a lot of interpretations tend to forget he is brawn And brain (tbh i tend to write him as a strategist first and a fighter second) and its all just a mess.
this interpretation of bane is an attempt to right these wrongs and also streamline his canon a bit because we All Know comics are a mess and extremely inconsistent but especially with characters who don’t get their own titles. nochedura is an anti-hero and also currently on the path of redemption. obviously he’s still not nice and has done a lot of Fuck Shit but yknow. who hasnt.
with that in mind this is a very broad timeline of events that have happened to this bane in particular (with the links to the comics accompanying these events) to clarify what the heck is happening with this man and why he’s like this. im taking a lot of liberties here but fuck everybody im god. without further ado.
bane is born in pena duro. he grows up under the prison’s influence, gets a vision that he was born to rule and in order to become his ideal self he must kill his fear (which takes the form of a bat, obviously), spends 10 years in the cavidad obscura* after killing a man at 6 y/o, and comes out the biggest and the strongest. he trains his body and his mind (by reading thousands upon thousands of books) as he pursues self actualization. he learns from his ally bird that the greatest city in the world is gotham and it is ruled by batman and he decides to break out of prison and kill him to take gotham by force. he is selected for venom experimentation and is the only survivor of the drug’s intensity. the venom aids him in his efforts to get to gotham (if you read nothing else on this list read vengeance of bane #1 (+ 2) because its Good and its required bane reading material)
bane relocates to gotham after kidnapping and killing pena duro’s warden and studies batman. he’s able to figure out his secret identity within a few months and unleashes everybody from arkham city with the intent of mentally and physically breaking bruce so that he can kill him. this culminates in the final confrontation in which batman isn’t even strong enough to fight back and bane decides that killing him would be a mercy and breaks his back. (knightfall is long and incomprehensible so i’ll just link the directory page and broken bat #11)
bane rules gotham for a while and its sexy up until batman’s replacement azrael clowns on him. the fight’s pretty sexy but honestly i dont care about this that much. (he who rules the night #11)
after losing to azrael bane does some silent contemplation in black gate prison. he was taken off of venom cold turkey and suffers through crippling withdraws but he, and i quote, “bears the pain.” he realizes venom was, in fact, poisoning him and taking him further away from his Ideal Self. he finds out venom is being further distributed and after some nonsense breaks out of prison Again to track these clowns down. he has a confrontation with bruce who he tells he has no qualms with, decides he wants to find his father, and presumably goes back to santa prisca. this is also the beginning of bane coming to the conclusion that he’s an innocent man which comes up later. (vengeance of bane #2)
so this is where im Really taking liberties. this is what i’m choosing to call the switcheroo arc where i clown around and decide im in charge and im going to make this more comprehensive. bane goes to santa prisca and gets told that there are five men who could be his dad and it probably takes some time to narrow down that list (while also finding out who each of these men are) so i’m declaring that’s what he’s doing for a while. this search is ongoing and doesnt stop until, well, he finds him. he’s still a villain at this point even though he claims to be innocent.
this is also where he’s knocking out some loose ends. specifically he tracks down a reporter who interviewed him as a teen and murders him for knowing something that could paint him as sympathetic. (batman secret files #2)
it’s at this point that he joins up with the secret six. he probably does this for the purpose of networking and garnering information, but then gets sort of swept up in everything and grows extremely attached to scandal savage, who he takes in as an adopted daughter. secret six 2008 is long and has a lot going on but its a good time. (SPOILERS) at the end of it he convinces everyone in the group to go on a suicide mission with an ulterior motive of severing his attachments to them because he feels that his affection has weakened him. everything goes according to plan and he breaks out of a police van and fucks off. (/SPOILERS) (secret six 2008)
after some time away from all that he gets into a feud with ra’s al ghul who wanted bane as his heir but some bullshit happened with talia, i forget, this doesnt matter to me, what Does matter is he’s now on a crusade to fuck up all the lazarus pits for funsies. this is also the point where he realizes one of the men on his Dad List is thomas wayne. he confronts bruce about this and everyone in the batfam is, understandably, cross. but bruce is nothing without his rehabilitation shtick so he goes crime stopping with bane in the batmobile until the results of the drug test come out and thomas is not, in fact, the father. this absolutely crushes bane for reasons he doesnt understand (he’s a lonely man and it turns out he Does need a family) but batman tells bane if he proves he’s Actually innocent by, yknow, stopping crime rather than doing crime, then he’ll help him find his actual dad. he agrees, but uses... unconventional (read: horrific) methods. (gotham knights #33-36) (tw for rape)
bane continues fighting crime and trying to prove his innocence and change/redeem himself up until he actually finds his real dad who is.......... king snake! who at this point in the canon is really fucked up and somehow alive in the himalayas and is just a real mean son of a bitch. bane is conflicted because like, hey cool, a dad, but also, he kinda sucks! bane’s kinda fucked up himself because he’s been climbing up a mountain and he’s a little brain sicky so i think hes just like... trying to absorb everything and then the bat crew shows up because they do Not like the idea of bane finding his dad who is king snake who is also at a fucking lazarus pit. king snake gets pissed when they show up and starts attacking and almost shoots batman but bane, distraught, jumps in front of the bullet and takes several in the back, lamenting that he wishes thomas was his father and not king snake. king snake ends up getting killed(?) and batman dunks bane in the remainder of the lazarus pit and gets brought back to life, reborn and changed. (gotham knights #47-49)
at this point this is just. my own writing. i guess. but after bane, yknow, literally died for bruce, bruce realizes that bane truly has bettered himself and is on the path of becoming a good man. he welcomes bane into the vigilante side and, eventually, to the batfam itself. when a man breaks your back and then takes several machine gun bullets for you a few years later i figure batman’s like... alright we’re square. comics are like that.
this is also where bane realizes he was wrong to cut ties with the secret six and seeks out scandal savage and her wives and brings them back into his life as his adopted daughter (and daughters in law)
so bane’s just... clowning now. he’s still like, brutal, and when he’s fighting baddies he’s not opposed to just Wrecking their shit (see: the time he used one of mr. freeze’s goons’ freeze gun on his arm) and i think he definitely does some murders but only if it’s like. the sort of bastard who really deserves it(tm) so like. mass murderers. the joker. sex criminals. etc. he’s not always in bruce’s best graces and he’s still on THIN ICE with dick and tim and the rest but its a work in progress. he’s trying.
anyway i left out a Lot of shit because like. theres a lot. but this is ... the basics believe it or not tl;dr bane is a good man born into horrific circumstances and he did a LOT of bad shit but he’s working on redeeming himself.

So Boldirs route
Lotta fate stuff, just a few lines in I understood why it was called “fate and fortune”
Now just meeting Boldir shows that she wanted to be able to observe us up close, after all finding her is, in itself, its own little test with the swirling path:
She notes that Protag doesn’t mess with what can be interpreted as the past. Compared to how we later see her traverse the path:
Showing she moves along with fate, letting it happen as it happens and adapting to it, really the best example of a prospit player I’ve seen so far.
And when asked why she wanted to talk with you:
She referes to everything as a paradox, and describes protag as being adrift in it, which I’d read to mean that Protag seems unneffected by whatever’s going on. And based on how many of the routes have gone, how Protag really seems to just be along for the ride as long as they get friends, it seems to be accurate.
Of course- Its always possible Boldir could mean that protag is the paradox, after all she does say, “(Paradoxes aren’t relevant, by their very nature)” And as we know, the friendsims aren’t 100% canon (as far as we’ve been told anyway), which would make this relevant:
Meaning Protag, while not relevant to the story at all, is also a very important piece of the story.
Now- I think its a tad obvious that I’m focussing on Protag here, I’m not analizing Boldir, I’m analizing protag using Boldirs route.
Because it’s given us the most answers. Afterall, we learn quite a bit about Protag here, they’re an orphan (which I think was mentioned at one point? I’m not sure), and we hear quite a bit more about how they got the rocket, Sounds like they’ve done a bit of thinking since Galekhs route.
Yet.
The occurances that would’ve lead Protag down that path of thought was a bad route, but we know Protag has befriended Gale.
All of Boldirs talk about fate seems to spark something within Protag, we’ve seen them talk about bad ends before... But not like we see here. Taking the main bad end, they seem to refrence bad ends where friends died (I.e: Diemen and Tirona (I feel like theres more :???))
As Protag starts to flip out, some.. unnatural stuff begins to happen
And sure, the whole route Protag keeps saying that it looks like it may rain, but this isn’t natural. Something is going on here.
And after Boldir passes?
They say “again”... Again-
And even Protag seems to be confused about why they’re so distraught about this... Yet just a few moments ago, they were refrencing dead friends...
They seem to both remember the bad routes taken, and at the same time, completely forget them.
And of course, we get this after the ending screen
Almost as if someone is helping Protag along.
Now we have very little evidence, but this is a theory of mine I’ve been thinking about for quite awhile:
Protag is/or has contact (unknowingly) to a fully realised time player.
I know, it sounds a bit weird... But it fully explains how all the good ends and bad ends can be canon at the same time. Because if Protag fucks up they (or the other force) rewinds to the last choice. Which would usually rewind everyone else as well, though it does seem to screw up at times. Like when we run into that one Purpleblood in Remele’s route from a bad end of Polypa’s, with the rewind we’d expect him to not remember us, yet he does... Also, The drones know of any crimes that Protag has done in bad routes. Nobody else seems to remember when Protag fucks up. Perhaps this will be a one time thing, perhaps it won’t, we just don’t know.
So, Boldir’s route has started something within the friendsim storyline, and they clearly can’t just drop it, but out of everyone left, who would be the best choice to continue it?
I’m guessing Wanshi or the twins (mostly Baizli).
After all Wanshi and Baizli are both Doom players, an aspect that is heavily woven within the strings of fate.
Wanshi is said to “know all of it”
And while we don’t know- pretty much anything about the twins’ personalities, Baizli being a doom-bound purpleblood leads me to believe they’ll be some kind of fortune teller kind of thing, and Barzum could fit into this aswell, having Baizli be tied to their fate, and Barzum attempting to escape it. Barzum being Breath bound could lead to some interesting talks of fate between protag and the twins, Baizli telling them to follow it all and let it play out, and Barzum telling them to break free and follow their own path.
Really we could see Wanshi and Bailzi (possibly Barzum) Knowing all of Protags past on Alternia, every death they’ve caused, every failed friendship attempt... The whims of fate telling these two doom bound trolls about the alien that’s somehow managing to mess with the timeline, while leaving it completely untouched.
Now, you’re probably wondering, with how much I’m focussing on these two doom players, why didn’t Zebruh trigger anything involving this?
It’s simple, him being Doombound effects himself and his personality, He’s a Doombound at their worst.
And I’d expect at least Wanshi, to be a doombound at their best
And well- I’m not exectly sure who this mystery being could be, if it isn’t just Protag. I suppose a good canidate could be Doc Scratch, or even lord English (because of the time thing-) But I’m more inclined to believe it’s a new person we have yet to really meet...
