woke: haru chooses to be kind without forgiveness and akechi doesn't know how to live with her genuine compassion because it'd be so much easier if she hated him instead

honestly you can say anything about the ravens (and you'd be right to) but you can't say the concept of them isn't delicious. a group of collegiate athletes in their intimidating raven motifs and their black uniforms who are basically bred to become the best of the best in a bloodsport. the adrenaline rush of every game being a competition between yourself and your teammates. knowing you're not just gearing up towards court but following in the footsteps of the alumni before you. the parties and the victories and the mindless sex and the way everyone around you somehow seems to always be thinking the same thing as you are. you are never alone and you will never be again if you just do as we say. who knows the kind of relationships that can happen in a place like that?

"Sonic despises the very concept of technology and would never use so much as a phone"
Why is this a sentiment that people have and what is it even based on?
No, really. At what point could you ever come to the conclusion that Sonic has a rule against technology as a whole?
Before anyone says "but in CD-" CD has good futures where technology is a forefront element

the foundation offers arcanists the right to exist as long as they follow the foundation as martyrs, while manus offers humans the right to exist as long as they follow them as monsters. neither side is looking for equality. st pavlov seems like it, but their relationship with arcanists is conditional and controlled. their goal is less "humans and arcanists living together in harmony" and more "lessen the threat and utilize the power of arcanists for humans"
its easy to think of the foundation as the hero since we're experiencing the story as a member; surrounded by other members taught by the foundation, but at some point, it becomes clear they're not interested in the lives of arcanists

q!dapduo parallels in how they handle grief so INTERESTING I LOVE IT (I hate it. I wish they were still alive).
We got q!Slime who while yes he did threaten the lives of others, ultimately and interestingly he never blamed anyone else except himself (and his wife). Slime destroys because he is upset at himself.
Then we got q!Quackity who even if he doesn’t physically lash out or go on a rampage like q!Slime did, he pins the blame on everyone else and to this day is plotting to kill the dude for revenge - Quackity destroys because he’s upset at the world (and even more himself too, but he has not comes to terms with that yet)

I was always told that "ignoring" mental health issues is like ignoring a rock in your shoe, and I always thought that this frame of mind is almost this hyper-individualist, blaming of other people - that if you "let it get bad," you only deserve bad.
Sometimes, you don't know you have a rock in your shoe. Sometimes, people say, "everybody has a rock in their shoe! Stop complaining!". Sometimes, nobody will let you stop to untie your shoe and get the rock out. Sometimes, people slip a rock in your shoe.
I've always disliked this idea of mental health and illness because it almost... blames people for not "doing wellness" right. Wellness becomes a performance, something that is always your fault. While I do acknowledge that we are all responsible for our own development, actions, and behaviours, I can't help but feel like this attitude about mental health is reflective of the ideas of broader trends about "tie your bootstraps up and get over it"

sending this anon because my main blog is disconnected from my sideblog LOL. i’m sorry i keep spam liking and reblogging all your posts but they are SO GOOD. you’ve motivated me to get back into art after a long one year hiatus (college has been rough >>). i saw that you haven’t been well lately and i sincerely hope you feel better!
my favorite headcanon is that sometimes, ciel wakes up earlier than sebastian can wake him. ciel sneaks on sebastian’s robe, much too large for him, and he tip toes down to the kitchen where he knows he will find sebastian preparing breakfast and tea. “oh, my lord, you’re up much too early- but you look so tiny and darling in my robe.” “well, that is what happens when you’re not beside me when i wake up.”
take care!
Spam liking and reblogging is great Anon! life saving even!!! don't ever let anybody tell you otherwise!!!!
I do feel better, and I'm very happy for you, may a hiatus that long never come your way again🌹🌹🌹
I really loved your headcanon, it's so so so very soft and cute, and hits me just right... Thank you so much for writing about it to me, it made me really happy that day!
I hope you won't mind if I post my vision for it separately from this post so as to not make it too long🤭

Roman is like it was only natural that it happened to me, and anyway, sometimes i wanted it. everyone hit me i'm fսcking annoying. Kendall is like im not a victim — it’s just the wrong kind of love expression, after all. so instead I’ll imagine it like the trials that shaped me, and it will all have been worth it when i win. sometimes your greatest tormentor can also be your most perceptive teacher. Shiv is like i can acknowledge that it happened, but not that it matters to me or continues to affect me, because that would mean admitting i’m not above my circumstances. i want to believe i can separate myself, power through, and take control of my life. you were just... an absence. But I'm fine. Mom, it's okay. / He couldn't fit a whole woman in his head. But he did okay. You did okay, Dad. Uh, we're all here and we're doing okay.

so here's the thing about casper, like a surprising amount of rhys darby characters he's remarkably selfish but has the ability to charm you so much that you don't care. he wants what's best for him, and you want what's best for him too. perfect.

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-intellectual junk lately, and I really think we need to put the word “pretentious” up on a shelf until people learn what it actually means.
It doesn’t describe someone who likes artsy-fartsy deep meaning media. People who are pretentious are fake. They’re posers trying to be sophisticated and unique, not like other girls. They pretend to only like stuff they think will make them sound cool when they talk about it. They want to act like they know something you don’t, and they want attention for it.
By definition, if you genuinely enjoy something, you can’t be pretentious. If it resonates with you, and you analyze it, and you don’t care what people think, that’s the polar opposite, actually. If you love obscure experimental prog music, if you watch underground high concept indie films through English teacher eyes, if you spend hours in a modern art museum reading each piece as a vessel for storytelling, if your backpack’s full of poetry books that inspire you, if you play underrated games that were someone’s passion project, if you have an interest in studying the classics or the masters, you are not pretentious.
Of course, some people just don’t like some stuff, and that’s fine, but that’s not what this is about. Don’t let anti-intellectuals shame you for enjoying things just because your interests are inaccessible to them, because they refuse to be brave and put effort into critical thinking. You’re not stuck up for refusing to overlook the craft of artists.
