Thank you both so much! And to everyone else who left me a lovely message on my original post! I don't know if it's weird, but I really appreciate the sentiment, hahaha. Today has been a Lot and I'm happy to finally get some downtime to sit down alone at home in comfortable clothes and read some of the congratulations messages.

Match Day is such a strange experience, because you know that you're going somewhere but you have all these different expectations and hopes for wildly different places, and you don't know if you'll be moving an hour away or nine hours away or across the country! (Well, I only applied to California - but I have classmates going to New York). And you find it out all at once and get bombarded by everyone celebrating and your classmates finding out where they're going or even if they got into the specialty they wanted if they were dual-applying, etc, etc.

I'm very pleased that I'm going to be going somewhere that's not too far and with friends present, and it's also like... medical school really drags out that "becoming an adult" stage of your life, so I feel like now is the time I will finally be becoming self-sufficient and independent on top of actually getting to work as a doctor.

But also, eustress is still stress, so I'm going to go make myself a cup of tea and relax for a bit, hahaha. My social battery is, uh, in low power mode!

I have FINALLY found a café that sells decent matcha latte. Unfortunately, I am currently on a budget so that is a treat now that I will save for special occasions but at least it's good to know that my matcha cravings could be satisfied in theory.

Where do you find your matcha? I really want to try it, but I'm at a loss for where to get actual matcha lol

i have the unfair advantage of working at a tea shop right now, but there are always online options! what you’re going to look for generally is that it’s designated as ceremonial and that it’s that really bright green color as opposed to yellow/brownish.

of course if you are making lattes you don’t have to go crazy quality-wise since higher quality japanese green teas can definitely get very pricey, and there are still culinary matches that taste just fine in a latte (most lattes you get at a cafe are going to be culinary) but sometimes it is a nice treat, especially if you are drinking it by itself :)

my favorite matcha right now is this one:

i’ve also had matchas i liked from ippodo (most recently their sold out new year one and can’t remember which other one ive tried sorry!):

and then i’ve seen that sugimoto has some, and i haven’t tried their matcha, but they do have some very good green teas that i have had, so i’d bet that their matcha is legit too.

a christian and a witch walk into a cafe .

it is the early afternoon now, the sun sporting its peak vantage point of the day. the encroaching heat draws the pair inside of a cozy coffee shop, its interior dazzled with humble decor and the conversations of those within . there is a short line in front of the cash register . one of the pair turns to the other,

"what do you think you'll get?" she smiles, tilting her head a little.

the other hums, thinking for a moment before responding, "probably a matcha latte, with some oat milk. and you?"

"oh i was thinking of getting that too!" the first exclaims, "but i dunno , maybe i'll go with a mocha ." she shrugs a little before responding, "yeah i'll get a mocha. :>"

"and here i thought i'd never see the day where you'd drink anything other than," a light jest and an elbow jab is sent her way.

"hey, in my defense, i normally get so jittery with coffee," she pouts a little, crossing her arms childishly. "but this one tastes so good! and i'm in the mood so," she trails off with a lazy smile on her face.

the other just chuckles at her antics, shrugging with an "if you say so," as they make their way to the cash register, placing their orders(arguing a little on who gets to pay this time) before they make their way to a table.

it is all laughs, all smiles, all warmth and safety in their little nook. they share a smile as they sip on their drinks, the warmth of the sun's rays casting light on them both as they bask in each other's company.
