Hi jade if you’re doing requests I’d love to see how prince Steve and his soulmate are doing after the wedding
prince!steve soulmate au —you’re sick from stress and Steve's adoring as always. fem, 1k
“Hello.”
You nod dazedly from your bed. “Hello, husband.”
Steve leans on the door, a bouquet against his chest. “Are you feeling any better? At all?”
“Yeah.” You’re lying, but it doesn’t matter —your hoarse voice betrays you. You sound as sick as you had yesterday and the day before. It is putting a real dampener on the honeymoon.
He puts his bouquet down on the dresser, the big white petals of its lilies drooping past the cellophane to kiss the drawers. You focus too much on that detail and startle when he sits on the bed.
“You had everything you needed while I was gone?” he asks, hair falling into his eyes.
You raise your hand, smiling softly as he leans forward, allowing you to fix it out of his eyes. He’s terrifying this close to you, absurdly pretty, absurdly yours, a golden ring on his finger and a furling white light turning pink braceleting his wrist. He’s very much the prince he was when you met, but now he is your prince, and that’s a strange thing to come to grips with, worse when you’re so achingly sick.
“Hey?” he prompts. “You have everything?”
“The serfs won’t leave me alone,” you complain worriedly. It hasn’t been nice to have them coming in and out all day. “I try to sleep and they wake me up coming inside. Sorry, I’m not– I’m complaining, I’m–” You rub your headache. “I should be grateful–”
“You’re allowed to complain about that!” he says, grinning. “God, I want you to! I’ll tell them to stop coming in, I just thought you’d probably die in your sleep while I was gone.”
You lean back into your pillows with a wince. “You sure?”
“Am I sure?” He holds your arm with both of his hands. “I’ve just sent the maids in to harass you for six hours when you’re sick as a dog and you’re asking if you’re allowed to be mad.” He rubs your arm with his thumbs. “I’m sorry. Do you want to sleep now? I won’t let anybody come in.”
“No, um,” —you clear your throat— “I did– I missed you. I want you to tell me about the meeting.”
“Yeah?” he asks softly.
You have the feeling you’re being doted on. “Did Robin go?”
“Let me just set us up and I’ll tell you. Okay?”
You nod your agreement. Steve kisses the back of your hand absentmindedly and stands.
He shuts the curtains to hide the sunshine, clears away the jargon of the holoscreen against the wall, and closes the door. The room is big and the mess you’ve made since you fell ill the night of your wedding is expansive, taking ages to clean. By the time he’s done all this, you’re dozing again with the blanket pulled up to your nose.
“Sweetheart,” he says, climbing into bed beside you. A kiss is placed on the edge of your eyelid. “You can sleep. We’ll talk about things when you’re feeling better.”
“No, please tell me about today,” you croak.
“Nothing really happened,” he says, up on one elbow, looking down at you lovingly. “They asked me when we’d begin our tour now we’re married.” His voice grows softer as he leans down, eyes on your lips. “I’ve asked for it to be pushed back. So they’ll wait until we’re ready.”
“Mm. And news from the west?”
“None.” He holds your face. “Sorry, you’re distractingly pretty today.”
“Stop it.”
“You are,” he says. He sounds playfully smug, or maybe he’s not playing at all. His tone is wry all the same, that slight fry that might make you pop a knee if you weren’t already wed. “I’m sorry you got so sick. I knew the wedding was going to be too much for you. I should’ve looked after you better.”
“You didn’t make me sick.”
“But the stress made it worse. I know it did.”
“You shouldn’t believe everything the head doctor says. She made you eat dandelions for depression.”
“I know, I was there,” he says, smiling down at you, eyes like dark dimes. “But she also recommended more fencing, and that did make me feel better.”
You turn your face to the side and curl a tentative arm around him. “Can I have a hug?” you ask, and then, when he’s given you an enthusiastic yes and pulled you onto his chest, “I can nearly forget I’m sick.”
“I can’t. You sound full of it, sweetheart.” Sweetheart said soft and quiet as a secret. Like he’s sorry and adoring at once.
“It’s in my face.”
“We’ll go to the sauna together later and clear you out.”
Together? In your skivvies? If the sickness doesn’t kill you, the sauna with Steve alone certainly will. “I can’t tell if you’re being mean to me on purpose.”
“Why would I do that? I like you. An embarrassing amount, I–” He clears his throat.
You’re not sure what he would have said, but you like him too; you dive in to save him. “You’re like that, Steven, you mess with me.”
“No, don’t start the Steven stuff again, I like it much more when you call me Steve. Remember when we first met, you’d only call me your prince? And you definitely wouldn’t have let me hold you.”
“Don’t say it like that,” you plead through a nervous laugh.
“Am I saying something wrong?”
He’s murmuring, nearly flirting —is it flirting if you’re married?— his arms threaded around you, his hair tickling your cheek as he leans down. “Not wrong…” Your eyes widen as he closes in.
“Would a kiss make you feel any better?”
“I’ll make you sick.”
“Shouldn’t you? I’ve vowed to be with you in anything, haven’t I? In sickness…”
You hold your breath as his fans over your lips.
“Just one?” he whispers.
“As many as you want,” you whisper back. “Just don’t get mad at me if you’re sick next week, Steve.”
“Never.”

Golden Hour
Pairings: Zhongli x Isekai'd!Reader
Summary: It's Zhongli's birthday, and you take him out to Liyue Harbor to celebrate it! You wake up before the golden hour to bake him a cupcake for his birthday, and you get your guts rearranged by Zhongli during the golden hour while the sun is setting. What a way to celebrate the former Geo archon's birthday.
Note: Because I am biased, I have decided to make Zhongli a birthday mini-fic that contains short smut at the end of the story. It's definitely not my best smut for sure because I am typing this at two in the morning with a forming headache 💀 Just a reminder that any [character] x isekai'd!Reader mini-fic is part of my ongoing Isekai'd!reader series and is usually around 5k words or less. These mini-fics are made so each man in the harem gets their own screen time with the reader; sometimes, some men will make an appearance, but not all the time. Every single one of my smuts, the reader is either a female!reader or an AFAB!reader, so please keep that in mind for future fics/smuts. Minors, DO NOT INTERACT! As usual, I don't post anywhere else but on Tumblr (Genshinluvr) and on AO3 (Aaliah_exo). Only registered users on AO3 will be able to view all of my published works (idk when it will be unlocked for everyone, I hope very soon).
Warnings: Horribly written smut towards the end of the story, marking, biting, Zhongli's got a dragon-sized cock. Are we surprised?
Word Count: 2.8k
It is six fifty-eight o’clock in the morning. Usually, around that time in the morning, you would still be in bed, fast asleep until around nine o’clock. But today is different, and here you are in the kitchen, wearing your pajamas with fluffy slippers. You’re steeping tea, and the window in the kitchen gives a nice view of the backyard of the estate. The sun slowly rising makes the abode shine gold; it’s the golden hour, the time you would miss while sleeping and during the late afternoon because you’re holed up in your house with the blinds closed.
*DING*
You jump and place your hand over your chest, feeling your heart racing against your ribcage. You turn to the small cupcake sitting on the cooling rack. You hover your hand above the cupcake to ensure it’s warm and not hot. You grab the cupcake and begin to decorate it with frosting. After decorating the cupcake, you grab a tiny candle and stick it halfway into the cupcake. You search around for a match to light the candle.
After successfully lighting up the candle, you turn to the steeping tea and take the teabag out from the ceramic teacup. You toss the teabag into the trash bin and turn around to grab the teacup and cupcake before walking towards the entrance of the kitchen. You stop in your tracks when you see the door open and the person stepping into the kitchen.
Zhongli looks at you, surprised, and his eyes quickly land on the teacup and cupcake in your hands. While Zhongli is staring at the cupcake intently, you’re staring at him like a fish out of water with your mouth agape while trying to come up with something to say.
“You’re up early,” Zhongli says, looking over at the clock above the kitchen window. “You’ve never been up this early before unless it’s for school.” he raises his eyebrows at you.
You smile at him sheepishly. “Well, I am awake early today because it’s a special day,” you said.
You watch Zhongli approach you, closing the distance between you two and standing before you. No matter how tall you are, Zhongli always towers over you. He looks down at you and then at the items in your hands.
Zhongli strokes his chin. “A special day, you say?” Zhongli asks, gazing down at you curiously.
You nod and smile up at him. “It’s your birthday, Zhongli! Did you forget?” You ask.
“How does one forget an important day?” He smiles back at you, brushes your hair away from your face, and tucks them behind your ears. “Is that for me?” Zhongli asks, pointing down at the cupcake and teacup in your hands.
“Yes! They are for you! I got up early in the morning to bake some cupcakes for your birthday and decided to steep some tea for you before you woke up,” you said, placing the teacup down on the counter beside you.
Holding the cupcake up between you and Zhongli, you clear your throat awkwardly. How in the world are you going to do this without screwing up? You take a deep breath and begin singing happy birthday to Zhongli in Liyuen. You spent a few weeks (maybe almost a month) learning Liyuen just to be able to sing happy birthday to him with the help of Yunjin and Ningguang.
After finishing the song, you hand Zhongli the cupcake and watch him lift it to his face. Zhongli stares at the cupcake and then looks at you; the flickering flames of the candle make his amber eyes illuminate. Zhongli has always been a handsome man; whenever he looks at you, you feel breathless.
“When did you learn how to sing in Liyuen?” Zhongli asks.
You feel your face heat up and rub the back of your neck. “For a few weeks now, perhaps almost a month. Yunjin and Ningguang helped me learn, and who knew they’re such strict teachers,” you chuckle.
Zhongli smiles and caresses your cheek with his right hand while holding onto the cupcake with his other hand. “You did well,” Zhongli murmurs, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
You place your hand over Zhongli’s right hand. “Make a wish,” you whisper, smiling up at Zhongli.
Zhongli pulls his hand away from your face and clutches the cupcake with both hands. Zhongli then closes his eyes for a moment, and you watch him make a wish with anticipation. You wonder what Zhongli’s wish is about. Whatever Zhongli's wish is about, you hope that it’ll come true for him. Zhongli opens his eyes and blows out the candle. You cheer softly and clap your hands.
“I hope your schedule is clear today because I am going to be taking you out for your birthday! Just you and me!” You said.
“Oh? Is this a birthday treat for me?” Zhongli asks, taking the candle out from the cupcake and placing it on the counter before taking a small bite.
“That’s correct! You can continue eating the cupcake and drink up your tea. I will be changing my clothes and getting ready for the day!” You said.
You stand on your tippy toes and press a kiss on Zhongli’s jaws before walking out of the kitchen. After about ten minutes of changing your clothes, brushing your teeth, combing your hair, and putting on deodorant, you finally leave your bedroom and descend the stairs. Zhongli’s eyes nearly pop out of their sockets when he sees you wearing traditional Liyuen clothes. Heat rushes to Zhongli’s cheeks as you walk closer to Zhongli and stop in front of him.
“Ready to go?” You ask, grabbing onto Zhongli’s hands and squeezing them lightly.
Zhongli smiles and nods his head, clearing his throat to make sure he doesn’t stumble over his words. “Lead the way, dearest,” Zhongli says.
You hold Zhongli’s hands and exit the estate with Zhongli by your side. The first place you decide to take Zhongli is Third-Round Knockout for breakfast. The both of you listen to Iron Tongue Tian tell a story about Ningguang while you and Zhongli ate delicious Liyuen dishes. You turn to look at Zhongli and notice sauce at the corner of his lips. You stifle your giggle and reach for the cloth napkin and pat his arm lightly.
Zhongli turns to look at you, and you wipe the corner of his lips with the cloth napkin. Zhongli’s eyes widen slightly, his cheeks turning bright red. Zhongli clears his throat and smiles at you shyly while you laugh under your breath and rest your head on his shoulders, squeezing his biceps lightly. How can a god be as cute as he is?
While listening to Iron Tongue Tian continue his story about Ningguang, you look up at Zhongli and make eye contact with the former Geo archon. Now it’s your turn to feel shy; you sit up and quickly look away, face almost as hot as the sun beaming down on the two of you. You reach for the teacup and take a sip nervously, feeling your hands tremble. Zhongli chuckles and wipes the tiny droplet of tea from the corner of your lips.
After breakfast at Third-Round Knockout, you and Zhongli take a stroll at Liyue Harbor while Zhongli tells you stories about his archon days. You walk beside Zhongli with your arm linked around his, your left side pressing against his right side. You two end up stopping in front of Jade Mystery after a certain gem catches Zhongli’s attention, making him stop his story short.
“You’re not going to be spending mora, are you?” You ask, looking up at your beloved boyfriend with your eyes narrowing.
Zhongli continues to look at the jade laid out on the yellow, blue, white and red cloths. “I am not spending any mora; I am just getting a closer look at the jades on the table,” Zhongli says. You can see the bottom of his lip slightly jutting out cutely.
You prop your hands on your hips and give Zhongli a skeptical look. “Oh? Is that so, my love?” You ask, pressing your lips into thin lines while staring at him suspiciously.
“That is correct,” Zhongli nods his head.
He walks up to Shitou and begins conversing with the boss of Jade Mystery while you stand in front of the table and look at every slab of jade. You stroke your chin and drown out the sounds of Zhongli and Shitou’s conversation about jade.
“Wonderful! That will be one thousand mora for the Noctilucous Jade!” You hear Shitou exclaim happily.
Your eyes widen, and you turn to look at Zhongli and Shitou, only to see Shitou talking to another customer. You furrow your eyebrows in confusion before turning to search for Zhongli. You nearly bump into his chest when you turn to the left; you look up at Zhongli and sigh in relief, letting yourself lean against his chest.
“What, did you think I was the customer?” Zhongli teases you while pinching your cheeks.
You nod your head. “Yes,” you breathe. “But I’m glad that you’re not the one that’s spending a thousand mora on Noctilucous Jade,” you said.
You didn’t want Zhongli to spend a single mora on his birthday because, well, you’re the one that’s spoiling him for his birthday! For lunch, you and Zhongli stop by Liuli Pavilion. As usual, the food is divine, and you and Zhongli have idle chats while eating lunch and sipping teas.
“This is spicy,” you mutter, poking the dish in front of you.
Your lips feel like they’re on fire, but you can’t stop eating them because they’re so delicious. Zhongli looks at you worriedly; his eyes zeroed in on your lips in particular. You sniffle and wipe your nose on a napkin, fanning yourself with your hand.
“Your lips are swollen, dearest,” Zhongli frowns, placing his chopsticks down on the ceramic plate before gesturing for the host to come over to the table. “If you’d like, I can ask the host to grab you a cup of cold water,” Zhongli offers.
You nod. “Yes, please,” you said.
The host gives you a cup of cold water, and you almost immediately down the water once the host places the cup in front of you. When the cold water touches the inside of your burning mouth, you nearly sob from relief. You set the now empty cup down on the table and lean back in your seat, sighing in relief.
“I think it's best for you to stop eating the spicy dishes,” Zhongli says, pushing the plate away from you. “Mayhaps you would like to try out the dumplings instead?” Zhongli suggests, grabbing a chunky dumpling from the container and placing it on yours.
“Yeah, I’ll try out the dumplings,” you breathed.
You’re about to grab the dumpling with your chopsticks when the sun shines through the windows, catching your eyes. You pause and look up, only to notice that the sun is beginning to set already. Wait, what? You look up at the clock, eyes wide. How long have you and Zhongli been eating at Liuli Pavilion?
“How long have we been here for? I could’ve sworn we had just arrived at Liuli Pavilion not too long ago,” you said, looking over at Zhongli.
“Well, in case you haven’t noticed, we did have a few rounds of food,” Zhongli gestures to the table.
On the table are a bunch of empty plates and bowls stacked on top of each other. In front of you and Zhongli are new main dishes and side dishes waiting to be eaten. You jolt back and blink, looking at the table and at Zhongli with an incredulous look on your face. Zhongli chuckles and sips from the ceramic teacup.
“Wow, time went by so fast, I didn’t even notice,” you said, shoving an entire dumpling into your mouth and beginning to chew on the delicious dumpling.
Zhongli sighs and gives you an endearing smile. “Dearest, please don’t stuff an entire dumpling into your mouth. You’re going to choke,” Zhongli chides.
It took you a while to chew and swallow the entire dumpling in your mouth. Once you consume the dumpling, you reach for your warm teacup. “Zhongli, honey, that’s not the only thing I’ll be choking on tonight,” you said calmly while sipping your tea.
Zhongli gives you a questioning look. “Pardon?” Zhongli asks.
You shake your head. “Nothing, forget what I said,” you wave off Zhongli’s question.
After wrapping up your and Zhongli’s lunch (and dinner because, apparently, the two of you had more than three rounds of food at Liuli Pavilion), the two of you leave the restaurant, and the sun is now starting to set. It’s the golden hour. You and Zhongli lean against the wooden railing at the Harbor, staring out to the waters.
“I’m not sure if we have time to go back to the abode. Would you be okay with spending the night in Liyue?” Zhongli asks, wrapping his arms around your waist.
You lean your head on Zhongli’s chest and nod your head. “Of course I am! As long as I’m with you, I’m content,” you said softly.
Zhongli kisses the side of your head and leads you to the nearest hotel in Liyue Harbor. Once the two of you get your room number, the key to your hotel room, and some privacy, everything becomes a blur for you two. The last thing you remembered was Zhongli pinning you against the door, marking up your neck with love bites.
“Oh, fuck! Zhongli!” You whine, clawing at his back as he plunges his cock into your sopping wet heat.
Zhongli buries his face into your neck and growls, his nails digging into your waist. Zhongli tangles his fingers into your hair and tilts your face up. You look up at Zhongli and press your lips against his. Zhongli ravages your lips hungrily, his canines nipping at your lips, your teeth clashing with his.
Zhongli grinds and ruts his cock in and out of your entrance, grabbing and squeezing your chest. Your legs tremble around Zhongli’s waist; Zhongli sucks on your tongue and presses his body up against yours, the tip of his cock kissing your cervix. You let out a choked gasp in Zhongli’s mouth, pulling away from the man above you.
“Zhongli, I don’t think I can last any longer,” You whine, clenching your jaws as you near your end.
Zhongli chuckles. “Already? But we’re just getting started, dearest,” Zhongli purrs. He continues to hammer his thick, long cock in and out of your tight hole.
“Just getting started?! It’s the evening!” You panted, digging your nails into Zhongli’s biceps.
Zhongli stops and looks out the window, the golden sunshine illuminating the bedroom and your naked body. Zhongli leans down and latches his lips onto one of your erect nipples, sucking and lapping at it.
“Dearest, the sun has yet to set. It’s still the golden hour,” Zhongli chuckles; he continues to lap at your erect nipples, making you shiver below him.
You stare up at the man above you and look between the cracks of the curtains. Zhongli is indeed correct. Between the time you and Zhongli checked into a hotel and now, only an hour has gone by. You look up at Zhongli with your mouth agape.
Zhongli lets out a laugh and slams his dick deeper into you, burying his cock as deep as he can. You wailed and writhed beneath Zhongli, your legs flailing the deeper he buried his cock inside of you. Zhongli growls and buries his face between your neck and shoulders, biting down on your neck hard.
“Ow! Zhongli!” You squeal, clawing Zhongli’s back, leaving a trail of angry red marks on his back. Zhongli presses the bulbous tip of his cock against your cervix, feeling your walls pulsing around his cock each time he thrusts into you. Zhongli pulls away from your neck and licks up your blood, his amber eyes glowing and horns sprouting from his head. You notice Zhongli’s arms have also changed. From his mid-shoulders to his fingertips, there is an ombre of black leading to gold. You lift Zhongli’s arms to your face and stare at them in awe.
“They’re glowing,” you whisper, unaware of the glowing symbol on your lower abdomen close to your right hipbone.
Zhongli wraps his arms around your waist, pistoning his cock repeatedly. You bury your face into Zhongli’s chest, a string of soft whimpers and moans coming from your mouth each time you feel Zhongli slide into you. You rock your hips against Zhongli’s hips, rubbing your aching, swollen nub against his pubic bone, sending shockwaves of pleasure down your spine.
“Oh, fuck,” you let out a shaky whisper, feeling a knot beginning to form in your lower stomach. You tap on Zhongli’s arms weakly. “Zhongli, I don’t think I can last any longer,” you gasp, melting in Zhongli’s arms.
Zhongli tilts your head to the side and starts leaving hickeys behind on your neck, shoulders, and collarbone. “We have all night, dearest,” Zhongli whispers. Zhongli nibbles on your earlobe and squeezes the globes of your ass, burying his cock inside of you. “After all, it’s only the golden hour. We have plenty of time,” Zhongli purrs into your ears.
Note: Definitely not my best smut for sure. I really hope that my future Zhongli smut will be better because I do have a Zhongli smut idea in mind since early April of 2022, but I never got the chance to type it out because I kept changing the idea 🥲 Maybe it'll be published sometime in 2023; not entirely sure when, but hopefully soon. Steve Harrington x reader
Steve has been getting headaches ever since his first encounter with the upside down. But luckily now he’s with you, and he’s learnt to be open if he’s going through anything. You’re going to make sure your boyfriend gets some rest when he’s hurting, or at the very least, not straining himself worse
Tumblr media
The bell of Family Video rings, and you smile as you walk through the door to see your boyfriend Steve with his vest already off and his own jacket on, coming with a small smile of his own to the entrance.
You knew what time he finished today so you said you’d come meet him when he was done, join him in the car ride back, or tag along if he’d been called for any sort of help or errand while at work. Steve was relaibale and trustworthy and his friends, especially the kids, knew they could count on him. But it did mean Steve was usually the only one to be asked, to take on all that pressure, because he’d hardly ever say no in the first place. So changed plans weren’t unusual.
Already reaching your hands out for Steve, that smile never fades, having missed him for the six hours he was away. “Hey babygirl.” You called softly to him.
Steve’s smile lifted a little more at that nickname, but his voice was an odd kind of soft as he came closer. “Hey.”
You kissed his temple, right between his hairline and warm skin, as you slung your arm around his shoulders. Only for when you leaned your lips back, noticing Steve bowing his head slightly, looking up at you from below. This worried you.
“Hey. What’s wrong?” You stretched your fingers over his arm, pulling his wrist close gently to hold his hand, bringing it to rest limply between both your bodies. Although he held your hand back in his own gladly.
“Nothing... I’ve just been having my headaches again today.” Steve told you, his movements slow and tired. Steve got headaches occasionally. Ones that would last for hours, but he said he was so used to them, he just knew how to keep going on with stuff with them around. They’d only really started since his first interaction with the whole upside down shit.
You were just glad they’re weren’t an everyday thing, although you hated how effected your love had been from these things. Honestly it was surprising how okay Steve was day to day. And he was very honest with you about stuff like that. His feelings, what he was going through, any hurt physical, emotional, mental, whether past or present, or even fear of the future. Steve would tell you when something was bothering him now. And you couldn’t be more proud of him.
You gently run your hand through his voluminous hair at the mention of his headaches, holding the side of his head when you reach. Steve had told you your touch helped, so you knew it wasn’t only okay, but wanted. And just as you thought he might, Steve leant into your palm, resting his head there, like it had been so heavy until you came to help him hold it. And you can hear the small whine that leaves his lips as he finally rests in your hand.
It makes your own lips twist in concern, thinking, as you looked at Steve. Your thumb softly grazing his cheekbone, while you let him lay into you as much as he needed. “Well, did you have anything planned today?” You eventually ask.
Steve goes to nod, but after one tilt up, you feel more than hear his groan, with his lips moving and breathing against your hand, getting a hum of affirmation instead from Steve. His eyebrows were all pulled down, which you knew would only make his head feel worse, but it at least let you see the emotions on his face.
“Well Dustin walkied me about an hour ago, and I told him after work I’d pick the kids up. Which I guess is about right now.” Steve sighs, lifting his head from your hand and bringing his keys out his pocket, and you notice the lack of him swirling them around his finger, using the keychain you gifted him.
“Nope.” You take the keys out of Steve’s hand. Not even snatching them, he was just too slow to really react. You shake your head emphatically, something Steve can’t even do right now.
Instead he hums, his hands limp at his sides, as he turns to you slumped. Fingers lightly opening out towards your hand. “Baby...”
“And when did your headaches start? Before or after Dustin called?” You ask gently, already knowing the answer.
And Steve knew that too. As he looked at you, from where his head was tilting downwards yet again, sensing your upcoming disapproval, as he mumbled like he was too tired to get it out. “Before...”
“No honey, you need to rest.” You kiss Steve’s head, and he very un-stubbornly melts into that, like you knew he would. You knew Steve so well at this point, and he’d only helped you so bravely with that. His whole face, his body, relaxing as he leans into that small kiss.
“My poor Stevie...” You stroke his cheekbone with your hand, over and over. Making Steve nuzzle into it in response, closing his eyes, with a quiet sigh. You kiss between his nose and his lips sweetly, not moving his head any more than your gentle touches on his upper cheek.
“I’ll pick up the kids, right after I drive you home.” You tell him.
Watching as Steve opens his eyes, peering up at you with his big brown orbs, before he flits them back down again, lips turning down smally. “Baby...”
“No lovely boy, I’ve got to take care of you Stevie.” You speak at the same volume as Steve, maybe just slightly bigger. Stroking your hand up his face, before kissing his cheek lots. Holding his hand with your other free one, warmly keeping him grounded, with the metal of his keychain between both your fingers.
“I’m gonna get you in bed, with some water and some of your painkillers. Some food if you haven’t eaten.”
Steve’s tongue pokes under his lip, and you know that’s the case. But you don’t chide him, you just plan what you’re gonna get for him, so he’s not in the kitchen himself. Moving your hand back further to softly rub over the back of his head, through the soft hair there.
“I’ll even help take your shoes off, your shirt, your pants if you need it.” You smile lightly, circling the back of his head as Steve smiles too. You can tell he doesn’t want to move his head too much, it must be painful, but with even the tiniest of movements, you’re sure you know what he wants to do, so you brush your nose lovingly over Steve’s for him instead. “I’ll drop the kids off and I’ll come straight home baby boy.”
You keep your face close, kissing Steve’s cheek. “And you’ll be all comfy and ready for me when I’m back, to give you all the snuggles and love you need.” Gently, you move your nose again, nuzzling it into the hollow of his cheek.
You pull back to not strain Steve’s eyes, still holding his tanned hand, and your other remaining holding the back of his head. Which Steve tilts to look at you from. But he finally sighs, cracking a small smile as he keeps his warm eyes on you “Fine.”
You smile back, slowly raising your joined hands, because Steve’s muscles seemed so heavy, not to you, but to him, and you lovingly brushed at his thick lips, before bringing his hand back down between your waists.
“But if you really need me to-“
“Steve. C’mon.” You interrupt. Using his real name this time, you’re sure helping you get your point across. Which it does. Because Steve‘s brown eyes are straight on yours. “Let me take you home. I’d love that baby. You don’t have to do a thing, you’ve been working with those headaches today. It’s you time now. C’mon baby boy.”
And finally, you see that sweet smile back on Steve again. Hopefully to stay for a little longer. He removes his head from your hand with a sigh, as he just looks at you with such love. Such a feeling of safety, of upcoming relaxation, knowing it was gonna be better now. And Steve just lets you lead him. Keeping his hand in yours being the only thing he even thinks about, as he lets you walk him right out of the store by hand. Both of you waving at Robin who’d just come back from her break, blinking in surprise at realising everyone was here and already out the door before she could say anything.
But Steve just let you pull him to his car, smiling as he toddled along, and feeling warmth burst through his heart when you even open his car door for him. Placing your hand on his shoulder, and he can feel your hand cupping just at his hairs at the back, protecting his head as you sit him in the car. He doesn’t even do his own seatbelt. Doesn’t want to think about it. Just watches you through the front window, walking over to his drivers seat, to bring him home.
And Steve is so happy, not only because he’s with you, but because he’s in a place where he can feel happy letting himself be taken care of by you...

I should have stayed home
Six months post Vecna’s defeat things were going pretty well for Steve.
He and Robin had both managed to get jobs at a bakery that had opened in town, Robin was taking a gap year after all the insanity that had been their lives before heading to college.
Eddie and Max had both recovered well from their injuries, Max would need glasses and Eddie had some pretty gnarly scars (as did Steve) but they were both doing well.
Steve had discovered that thinking of other boys as ‘pretty’ was not something that everyone did, and after a few long conversations with Robin, he had come to the conclusion that he was into both girls and guys.
The fact that he found Eddie very attractive certainly helped move things along for him.
The party had stayed close having regular catch ups by way of dinners or movie nights. The Byers and El had moved back to Hawkins with Hopper, Hopper had wasted no time in popping the question to Joyce and they had tied the knot a few months ago. They both said they’d waited long enough and who knew what the future would bring so why wait.
This brought Steve to the present day.
Read it here on ao3
He had been planning on asking Eddie out for weeks now and was planning on meeting him at the bakery when his shift ended.
The problem was Steve had woken up with a headache that was quickly becoming a migraine.
To try and make things easier on himself he decided to forego his contacts (who knew that so much head trauma could cause permanent damage?) and wore his glasses instead.
Not the way he’d wanted to look when he officially asked Eddie out. They’d been dancing around each other for weeks, months really, flirting and getting far too close for friendship but neither of them had actually asked the other out.
Nothing he could do about it though, so with glasses in place he popped a few painkillers and left for work.
—---------------
The day was dragging.
Robin wasn’t working with him today, he had needed to deal with multiple rude customers and his headache was only getting worse.
The painkillers had hardly touched the sides of the headache when it had first begun and now that it was a full blown migraine, he was a hair's breadth from laying down on the floor and calling it a day.
He only had another hour before Eddie would be there and they could go somewhere and Steve could ask him out. Officially. He was not going to let a headache stop him. It had taken him so long to get to this point and now he didn’t want to wait anymore.
So that meant he would grin and bear it.
Turning on his best customer service smile, that may or may not have looked more like a grimace at this point, he greeted the next customer that came into the store.
He bent down to get the cake out of the cabinet that the lady had chosen only to be hit with a wave of dizziness as he straightened back up. He managed not to drop the cake, blindly placing it on the counter, only to stumble back himself. Next thing he knew he was looking at the ceiling.
The customer, a middle aged woman who Steve vaguely recognised as working at Hawkins Middle hurried around to him and checked him over.
“Are you alright dear?” she asked, supporting him as he slowly sat up. The world was still spinning and he closed his eyes as he helped guide his head between his knees. “Easy does it. Is there someone else here I can call?”
Steve just shook his head, taking a few deep breaths until he felt he could sit up.
“Sorry ma’am just stood up too fast and got a bit dizzy. I’m so sorry about that! Is your cake alright?”
The woman helped him up and shushed him, telling him everything was fine and to take care of himself. She paid for her cake and once she was sure he was steady on her feet she left the store, but only after Steve reassured her he was fine and someone would be there soon to take over for him.
Thankfully it was quiet the rest of his shift, only half an hour left.
He wanted nothing more than to see Eddie, but his head was killing him and now on top of the migraine he had an egg on the back of his head from where he had hit the floor.
He was determined not to give in though.
Moments later the metal head himself came through the door.
“Stevie! Fancy finding you here?”
Steve couldn’t help but wince at the volume of Eddie’s voice, ducking his head to try and hide it as he came around the counter to greet the older man.
“Hey Eds! Just waiting on my replacement and we can get out of here,” Steve said, giving Eddie a quick hug. If he leaned in a little longer that he meant to, well nobody else was there to see.
Steve went back behind the counter, bagging up a couple of pastries for Eddie and himself to have later and gave them to Eddie.
“Mind taking those out to your van?” Steve asked, passing the bags over.
“Of course! What’s the plan? Are we taking our own cars and meeting somewhere or what?”
Not feeling fit to drive, but not wanting to tell Eddie either, Steve just shrugged and tried to act like he was deciding on the spot. “Maybe we take your van and come back for my car later?”
Not seeming too worried Eddie just smiled and nodded, turning to walk back outside to wait for Steve. “Alright, I’ll be waiting.”
With Eddie out of sight Steve lay his head on the counter and tried to breathe through the pain.
He didn’t even hear his replacement come in until they tapped him on the shoulder.
“You good Steve? You look kinda pale,” the kid asked. Tom, or Tim…Steve couldn’t remember just then.
“Mm fine. Here you go,” Steve took his apron off and almost threw it at the kid before making his way back around the counter and outside.
He made it to Eddie’s van just as another wave of dizziness took hold. Grabbing the door handle to keep himself upright he leaned heavily into the van door as he almost tipped over.
Just as he was about to give in and slide down onto the pavement Eddie was there, holding him up and guiding him into the car.
“Holy fuck Steve what’s wrong? You gonna pass out?”
Shaking and feeling sick Steve just shook his head as much as he could without making the pain in his head worse.
“No-no don’t think so. Sorry. Migraine. This isn’t how things were meant to go today. Maybe I should have stayed home. Just wanted things to be perfect for you,” Steve muttered as Eddie rubbed his back.
“Why didn’t you? If you’re not feeling well you could have just told me.”
Steve was almost in tears at this point. Everything was going so wrong.
“Wanted it t’be spec’al. Wan’ed to ask you out. Fucked it up now,” Steve slurred, too far gone from the pain to filter what he was even saying.
Eddie just wrapped his arms around Steve as much as their position in the van allowed and gently massaged Steve’s neck and head. The younger boys closed his eyes and felt some of the tension he was carrying begin to release.
“Oh sweetheart, you didn’t fuck anything up. Life happens. We can have a do-over another day. For now how about I take you home and we can go lay down and get you feeling better?”
“Ok,” Steve whispered, pressing into Eddie’s side.
“Good, let’s get you home and then when you’re feeling up to it, we can go on a proper date, sound good?”
“So good Eds. So good.”
“That’s settled then, let’s get you home.” Eddie pulled away and buckled Steve’s seatbelt for him. Before he started the engine though he pressed a quick kiss to Steve’s forehead.
“Wha’ was tha’ for?” Steve asked, opening his eyes
“Kissing it better for you,” Eddie replied, face turning bright red as he did.
“Oh! Thank you,” Steve felt his own face heat up in response but smiled nonetheless.
Maybe things hadn’t gone quite as he had planned but somehow it seemed they had worked out anyway.

☾༺Just a Bit Longer༻☽
~So I’ve been brainrotting over RW&RB for a solid month now. The goblins need a walk, and I cannot productivity until they get one. I love these two’s dynamic; they’re just so silly. Not my best work, but writer’s block be damned; I needed to post something this week. This is completely self-indulgent, but if it’s your thing, I hope you Enjoy!~
Lee: Alex
Ler: Henry
Summary: Alex is overworking himself, going late into the night and working hours without breaks. Sick of his lover’s dreadful work-life management, Henry takes it upon himself to get Alex to sleep.
Warnings: mild Red, White & Royal Blue spoilers! This is a tickle fic, so if you don’t like that, scroll away!!
Tumblr media
Life for Alex Claremont-Diaz was the best it had ever been. Henry came over almost daily from his Brownstone, and he finally felt like he had a definite idea of where his life was headed. The only downside: he was still in school.
The NYU Law course was a bit more rigorous than he’d expected, but it was definitely what he wanted. Sure, that meant long, painful hours of reviewing for extremely difficult exams, discovering that tort is a real word, and trying to figure out a system for coursework that didn’t make his brain want to explode.
His sleep schedule was already shit, so he didn’t think any of it would be a problem. If he just pulled a few all-nighters and pumped out some late-night essays, he’d be fine. What he didn’t think about, however, was how Henry would take it.
Alex was working late on another essay, running off of coffee and pure determination. He hadn’t meant to put it off, but with the three exams he’d had that week, his mind was a scattered mess.
Henry had put up with it for most of the night, but as two AM rolled around, his understanding had run dry, replaced by concern.
Knocking the “shave and a haircut” pattern on his lover’s door, Henry entered the room. He was immediately greeted with the strong smell of coffee and desperation.
There sat his boyfriend, hunched over a computer with a half-eaten ham sandwich (he couldn’t handle turkey anymore) by his side. The blonde couldn’t help the sad sigh that escaped him.
Alex looked up, his glasses nearly all the way down on his nose. It was unfairly cute, though Henry shoved that feeling down for the moment.
“Uh…hey, Hen. Not done yet; gimme, like, another half-hour.” Alex’s gaze was back on his computer in seconds.
Henry rubbed his temples, already feeling a headache brew. For once, why couldn’t Alex just use common sense?
“Alex, darling. It’s two in the morning. You need to sleep.”
Alex scoffed, not stopping for even a second. “Says you. You stay up later than I do most of the time.” While that wasn’t untrue, Henry’s problems were because of insomnia. Alex was just a stubborn asshole.
“Look, I’m going to be brutally honest here. You look terrible, you seem exhausted, and the bags under your eyes could fit the entirety of the Royal Wardrobe. Go. To. Sleep.”
Henry laid things out bluntly, crossing his arms. It was meant to leave little room for negotiation, but defying Henry’s expectations was Alex’s special talent.
“This is due at eight AM…uh, today. I’ve only got six hours to finish this thing, but I’m almost done. I promise, just a bit longer.” This would have been more comforting if Alex hadn’t already said that three times.
“Alex, please. If you sleep now, I’ll wake you up at six, and we’ll work on it together. It hurts to see you like this, dear.” He used pet names, trying to sway Alex to listen. It was a last-ditch effort; if he still refused, Henry didn’t have much of a plan left. Sure enough, he did.
“It’s fine, Henry. I’m all good, just a little spacy. I promise, the moment I’m done, I’ll eat your face. Okay, baby?” Alex flipped the other man’s strategy back on him, hoping to fully bury the concern. He was fine: end of story.
For Henry, though, the tale was just beginning. He racked his brain, searching for anything to help him get Alex to cooperate. He could only remember one time anyone was successful.
Alex had invited him to the White House for June’s birthday party. As the night dragged on, everyone but Alex was drunk and exhausted. To tire him out, June had employed some rather…unconventional methods.
Methods that would be extremely useful to him at that moment.
Casually approaching his boyfriend, Henry put a hand on the laptop. Then, after making sure the work was saved, he closed it. He pointedly ignored Alex’s scoff and protests, grabbing his chin and pulling him in for a kiss. Alex still squirmed, though a smile was breaking out on his face.
That was all Henry needed to continue. He gripped Alex under his thighs, lifting the man up and plopping him down on his nearby bed.
A surprised sound left him, his cheeks gaining a nearly imperceptible red hue. He was expecting some push-back from Henry, but nothing this active.
“Just couldn’t wait for me, could you~?” Alex weteased, starting to sit up on the bed. Henry was quick to stop that, grabbing Alex’s arms and pinning them above his head.
Before his lover could make another joke, Henry tapped a few fingers on his side. That shut him up, if only for a second.
“Henry, I swear to fucking god, if you try anything-” He was cut off when Henry squeezed his side, resulting in an indignant squeak.
“Sorry, dear, but I’m afraid I already have~” With that, Henry clawed his fingers into Alex’s stomach, straddling him.
The tired man tried to bite his lip, but the coffee wasn’t quite enough to give him that energy. A few giggles slipped out, quickly followed by tiny curses.
“What’s the matter, Alex? Something bothering you?” Henry chuckled, leaning down further to try and hold him still.
Kicking and squirming, Alex tried anything to get away from the evil fingers. He was tired, though; his brain was moving at half-speed and felt like it was running through soup.
“Gehehet ohoff me, youhuhu prihick!” Henry has decided to move up to his ribs, scritching and scratching between each bone.
Even on a good day, it’d be hard for Alex to get out from under him. With no sleep, coffee fumes and pure spite, he had no chance.
“Why on Earth would I do that? I’m quite comfortable here. Besides, you seem to be enjoying yourself, if that blush is any indication,” Henry taunted, jutting his chin out. He didn’t really need to, but it was a sure-fire way to rile Alex.
“Fuhuhuck off! Hehenry, I swehehear- quihit!” Alex tried to bury his face in his shoulder, though he only drew attention to a new target. Henry leaned down, blowing a raspberry on his boyfriend’s neck. Alex would rather die than repeat the squeal that left him.
“Wow, Alex. Perhaps the Barbara Streisand accusation wasn't so far off,” he teased, his voice about as smug than Alex had ever heard it.
The typically witty man was in giggly shambles, trying his best not to sound like a child. He wasn’t very successful.
“SHUHUhut uhup, youhu douche!!” Laughing like a toddler, Alex was still pumping out insults. Henry was about to put a stop to that. Going for the kill, he hooked his thumbs into Alex's hip divots, kneading and squeezing the area.
That seemed to work quite well.
“GAH- HEHENRY! You- YAHAHA! FAHAHACK!” The law student lost his shit, practically cackling under his boyfriend.
Alex arched his back off the bed, only bucking into the ticklish feeling. There was no room in his mind for witt; the best he could do was “fuck fuck fuck it tickles oh my god-”
Hearts practically formed in Henry’s eyes at the adorably hysteric reaction. Still, as cute as it was, he had a mission.
“This all ends the moment you agree to rest. Or…would you like me to continue? I bet I could just tickle you senseless all night. You’d surely be exhausted then, wouldn’t you?”
Alex couldn’t even get a word out, shaking his head as he laughed. His curls went wild, getting in his eyes and puffing up. Henry wanted to brush it from his eyes, but he had to keep his priorities in order. There would be time for fawning over him later.
“HEHENRY! PLEHE- snrk” It took a solid minute, but Alex’s resolve was weakening. He was already tired beforehand, and laughing his ass off wasn’t helping. The squirming had died down almost completely, snorts slipping into the lax cackles.
While it wasn’t an agreement, the Prince could tell that his lover would be out in seconds. Henry stopped, switching to gentle traces down his sides. The first son tried to calm down, a steady stream of giggles pouring from his lips.
“H-hoholy shihihit… Thahat was evil.” He tried taking some deep breaths, rubbing his cheeks. Alex hadn’t laughed that hard in a while. He was close to just passing out right there, pure exhaustion hitting him like a freight train.
“Possibly. You deserved it, though.” Henry leaned down, gently kissing his curved lips. This sight was one of his new favorites: Alex, his toned skin flushed, practically a puddle of giggles beneath him.
Alex flipped him the bird before melting into the kiss. He weakly pulled his boyfriend down, snuggling against him. He’d all but forgotten about his essay, eyes closed the moment he laid still; the poor guy was wiped. It wasn’t terrible by any means, but all his energy was gone.
Carefully grabbing his phone, Henry set an alarm for six AM.
They’d finish that research paper; he was certain of that. With a bit of sleep, Alex would be a writing machine. True, the slightly rushed grammar would be atrocious, but that’s what Henry was there for. Pulling the sheets up over them both, Henry breathed a happy sigh.
“Good night, love.”

Violent Delights
A Billy Hargrove x Plus-size! Reader fic.
Billy Hargrove is the silent, angry coworker you've been trying to avoid for months, unwilling to get yourself tangled in Hawkin's bad boy. But one day, you begin to notice the scars on his body, the random attacks of headaches and violent flashbacks, the way you always had a nagging feeling there was someone else peeking at you from his eyes--you've never been able to resist a mystery.
(I know, I know, the summary is weird, but in other words: Plus-size Reader works with Billy at Family Video and slowly begins befriending him as summer goes on. Billy, struggling with becoming a better person and his memories of the upside down, isn't used to kindness, but once he's had a taste of yours, he can't stay away.)
Tumblr media
Warnings: umm Canon-typical violence, smut in the future, will be a continued series.
Part One:
"Welcome to Family Video, how can I help you?"
The girl is standing beside the romantic comedies section, her leopard-print purse clutched tight to her side. She's young, maybe your age, her hair curled into an attractive blonde fluff that reminds you of Sandra Dee from Grease, her eyes circled with blue eyeshadow and doll-like lashes that must have taken an hour to perfect.
Obviously, she's not here to see you.
"Does, um, Billy work here?" She asks, smiling shyly.
You sigh. Deeply.
Just to screw with her, you begin, "Billy…?" Her face falls.
You take mercy on her. "Billy Hargrove?"
She brightens, "Yes, him!" "Yeah, well, he's stocking behind the red curtain," you wave vaguely behind you, towards the silky red curtain that separates the, ahem, adult movies from the main lobby. "I'd be careful though, he's got his panties in a bunch today." She gives you a startled look, either because you said the word panties casually or because perhaps she's disillusioned herself into thinking that Billy Hargrove is a pleasant person. She gives you a glossy smile as thanks and makes her move, slipping behind that red curtain with a trilling, "Hi, Billy!" You feel sorry for her, just like how you've felt sorry for the poor souls that have been approaching Billy at Family Video for the past six months, all of them dolled up and fresh from college, looking for the smooth-talking charmer that they knew through their school years. You remembered when he first rolled into Hawkins, an egotistical jackass with a chip the size of Jupiter in his shoulder and a face too pretty for his own good—but he's different now (not necessarily less egotistical or pretty,) but…different.
You hadn't liked him then and you certainly don't like him now, not with how many times middle aged moms come in here with necklines lower than their standards, asking Billy in low, sultry voices what he thinks they should watch. He always passes them off to you like diseases and you would be the one to have to deal with disappointed, sulky women that always pick Valley Girl or Dirty Dancing to rent, their eyes glaring watery holes through you as if it was your fault they weren't getting laid tonight.
Sure enough, the Sandra Dee lookalike storms from the red curtain with her face crumpled like a newspaper, her mouth screwing up as if she were about to cry. "How do you deal with him?" She demands on her way to the door. "He's such an ass!" You shrug and watch her leave, her lovely pink heels carrying her into a car and out of view, something you have wanted to do since eight this morning.
"Really?" You say loudly, glancing towards the curtain. "She was sweet—you didn't have to make her cry."
His voice echoes from the curtain, deep and irritated. "Fuck off, kid." You flip off the curtain, though you know he can't see it. "Ditto, jackass." His tone sharpens."What did you say?" "You heard me," you respond sweetly, picking up a box of returns that have to be put back in their proper places on the shelves. You set it on a nearby cart and begin filing the movies away, genre by genre—you know most of them by name now, since you were prone to taking a handful home every week and working your way through them. You've loved movies since you were little, which is what made you apply here six months ago when you wanted an after-school gig for your senior year.
Family Video isn't the worst job in the world, but it's boring and summer is right around the corner—all you want to do today is climb into a swimsuit and float in the blowup pool in your backyard, drinking red Kool-aide and reveling in the heat and harsh sun. Homework can be damned tonight, you'll play catch-up over the weekend when the sun has set.
"Hey." You don't look up, too focused on shoving The Breakfast Club between Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, Molly Ringwald's pretty, round face smiling up at you from the plastic covers.
"Hey, kid." A foot nudges your knee.
You look up into Billy Hargrove's frowning face, his arms crossed over his chest—somehow, he had intimidated the boss into allowing him not to wear the customary Family Video uniform, just a simple name tag in his Led Zeppelin shirt, his worn jeans slung low on his hips.
You hadn't been so lucky—it had been hard to find pants that would go over your large hips, much less a dress shirt that would button without gaping over your chest, so you ended up with a baggy Family Video shirt, jeans, and the ugly green vest.
"What, Billy?" You sigh, pushing your hair out of your face.
His frown deepens—you don't think he's quite gotten used to a girl that doesn't want him, especially an eighteen-year old virgin that's twice the size of the women he dates. "What time did the head honcho say to close tonight?" "Eight," you answer shortly, pushing yourself to your feet. Billy isn't the tallest man in the world but he's certainly taller than you, which makes any glare you try to give him ineffective. "By the way, if Janice Carver comes in here just before closing again, you're going to be the one "assisting" her this time. I'm tired of middle-aged women looking at me like I'm getting in the way of their hot date." "I think not, sweetheart, I have shit to do," Billy says briskly, pushing past you to pluck Lethal Weapon off the shelf. "My shithead sister Max needs a ride home tonight, I can't stay past closing." "Isn't that convenient?" You say dryly, moving back to the register to pull yourself up on the counter as you watch him scrutinize Mel Gibson's square-jawed heroism, his hand tapping his rings against the metal shelf. He's not the same boy he was, not with those endless purple circles under his eyes, or the hollow look to his cheeks.
Something happened to him last year—maybe a relative died, or a girlfriend broke up with him, but whatever it was did a serious number on Billy.
"What did you tell that girl to make her cry?" You ask suddenly.
Billy looks up, eyebrows raised. The two of you have operated on a don't-ask-don't-tell basis for the past several months of working with each other, neither of you exactly interested in the gooey details of each other's lives.
"What do you care?" He asks. It comes out more hostile than you had been expecting.
You shrug. "I don't. I'm just bored." Billy looks at you for a long moment, his blue eyes dull and tired. "Kid, I didn't even know who she fuckin' was. Maybe I screwed her, maybe I didn't. It doesn't matter anymore."
"Why?" "Why, what?" He snaps impatiently, ready to be done with the conversation.
"Why doesn't it matter anymore?" That makes him pause, the clinking noise of his rings against the shelves pausing. Your skin prickles at the empty, blank look to his eyes, the way his mouth tips up into a sharp grin that doesn't disturb the rest of his face. "It just doesn't, sweetheart. Now piss off." This is what you get for trying to talk to Billy Hargrove. You roll your eyes and bury yourself in the latest film magazine, taking your lunch break outside on a bench so you wouldn't have to feel his eyes on you—but it doesn't work, you still feel watched even with bowl of chicken salad.
It's almost creepy. In fact, you have half a mind to grab a newspaper and peruse the job offer section, just to get away from this strange man that acts like he's relearning how to be a human.
But, you've always had an overactive imagination—and where else would you get your free movies?
In fifteen minutes, lunch break is over and you're stuffing your brown lunch bag into the trash, another four hours of keeping pubescent boys from ducking under the red curtain and smiling at couples choosing a movie for their date ahead of you.
You watch a boy in a jersey throw his arm around a freckled redheaded girl as they walk through the door—they're younger than you by a few years, but the girl seems to recognize you, her mouth stretching into a reserved smile. "Hi, is Billy still here?"
You sigh once more, if only you had a dollar every time someone said that to you…
"Yeah, let me go get him real quick," you say reluctantly, slipping into the backroom where he likes to smoke when he thinks you're not looking, the door closing shut softly behind you. "Billy?" You say, switching on the weak, yellowing light. Shelves of broken or old tapes line the walls, the distinct stench of cigarettes in the air; your hand brushes an old movie reel and a cloud of dust erupts, curling into the dim light. "God, Billy, why are you so fucking creepy?" "Go away." Billy is against the wall, his palms pressed into his eyes as if the light was hurting him. He's hunched into himself, his skin slick with sweat as his body shakes, his eyes glinting up at you between his fingers hatefully as if you were causing this unknown hurt.
"Billy," you whisper softly.
"Leave me the fuck alone." He bares his teeth but it has no venom, his face paling as he slumps farther against the wall. "Holy shit, Billy, you've got to get to a hospital." You kneel beside him and reach for his forehead to feel his temperature, but his hand snatches yours out of the air, his fingers so tight around your wrist you have to bite back a yelp.
"You don't know what you're dealing with," Billy hisses through clenched teeth, his eyes boring into yours. "I could hurt you."
You ignore him, craning to look into his pale, bloodshot eyes. "There's a girl and her boyfriend here to see you—do they know about whatever this is? Can they help you?"
He shakes his head, his fingers tightening on my wrist painfully. "No, no, tell Max I'm not here. She can't  see this, she wouldn't understand."
"Your sister? But-" Billy yanks your wrist, pulling you closer so you were face to face him. His face is pale and bloodless, his blue eyes eerily bright as his cracked lips mouth the word: "Please." He doesn't say please often. You swallow hard, fear slipping into your gut like ice.
"Please," he repeats, eyes boring into yours.
"Okay," you whisper. "Okay. Let go of me."
Billy blinks, looking down at his hand around your wrist as if he hadn't realized it was there. He lets go, leaving clear purpling imprints of his fingers on your soft skin.
You compose yourself at the door and walk out in the lobby casually, slipping your bruised wrist into your pocket. "I couldn't find him. He must still be out on break." Max tilts her head at you, pale eyes scanning your face. For a moment, you think she knows you're lying, but then she sighs and pushes her red curls out of her face. "Shit. Well, could you tell him I won't need a ride home tonight? Mom said she wants me to stay over at her house."
You force a smile, "Yeah, I'll tell him when I see him." "Thanks." Max takes her boyfriend's hand, yanking him away from the Action/Adventure section. "Let's go Lucas, Dustin will be pissed if we're late."
You wait until she's completely out of sight before dashing back into the backroom, finding Billy pushed up on a chair, his curly head placed between his knees as his nails dig ruts into the green shag carpet.
"Are you okay?" You ask cautiously, holding out a water bottle leftover from your lunch.
"Do I fuckin' look like it?" But he raises his head and accepts the water, draining half of it in one gulp. He wipes his mouth, squinting up at you in a tired, pissed-off way. "You're being pretty goddamn nice for someone who doesn't like me." "I don't have to like you to not want you to die," you say, digging out a bottle of Tylenol. "I wouldn't want that on my conscious. Here, take these." Billy's mouth twists as if he wants to laugh, surprisingly docile as he accepts the painkillers. He already looks better, the blood returning to his cheeks, the sweat drying on his skin.
"Did you have a seizure or something?" You ask, taking a seat beside him. "My aunt used to have bad migraines, sometimes it made her like this."
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you, sweetheart," Billy says, sounding more and more like himself. He slips a cigarette from his pocket but his hands are shaking too badly for him to light it.
"Would you mind?" "These will kill you," you say, but you light it anyway. "Trust me, I'll die long before lung cancer catches up with me." Billy pushes himself on his feet, swaying slightly. "What did Max want?" "She said she doesn't need a ride tonight, something about her mom wanting her to stay with her for the night. Are you sure you're okay, Hargrove?" "Goddamnit, Susan," Billy sighs, rubbing his eyes with his palms. In typical Billy fashion, he ignores your question and disappears into the bathroom—you wince as you hear his heaves, the distinct sound of someone vomiting their guts up making you a little nauseous yourself.
What could that have been? You've never seen a seizure but that seemed different, it was almost as if he was having a nightmare—a nightmare while wide awake.
"Christ," you whisper to yourself. You drift back behind the register desk, your head buzzing with the beginning stages of a headache.
Billy doesn't say another word for the rest of the shift. The minute the sign flips, he yanks his denim jacket over his shoulders and slams the door behind him, leaving you alone in the darkening shop, the shelves seeming to grow long, creeping shadows in his absence.
There is something wrong there—but is it any of your business? Is it really your problem if he doesn't want help? No, it's not. That doesn't stop you from thinking about it on the way home.

(I'm not dead, I promise! But I did recently start my job, which has sporadic hours, so I haven't had time to write. But I finally got this finished and I wanted to post it, because I promised it weeks ago. Hopefully the next one will come sooner.)
Edit: I'm an idiot, who forgot to link everything. Fixed it.
Morally Grey Pt 3
Part 1 Part 2
TW: Imprisonment, obsessive behavior, Mentioned no-con drugging
The press was having a field day with this, Superhero mused as he stood at the podium, the other hero's standing behind him. It wasn't necessary, but none of them knew that.
“-I can assure you, we will find Villain, and put him back where he belongs.” Superhero finished addressing the media, but before any of the hero's could leave, there was a shout at the back of the crowd.
"You liar!" Everyone turned to the shout, and there were screams as Other Villain burst from the crowd, gun in hand. "I know you did something! What did you do with Villain?"
"I can assure you that I have no idea what you are talking about." Superhero said smoothly. "I had nothing to do with Villain's disappearance."
"Bullshit!" Other Villain yelled. "You were the last person to see him. You were the one who he was going to meet, I know it! Where is he?"
Superhero stepped back and his team came to flank him. "For the last time, I had nothing to do with Villain's disappearance!"
"Then how did you know?" Other Villain snarled. "How did you know that Villain was missing?"
"...Because the prison called us about their disappearance?" Superhero said. "And it's all over the news? The whole reason we have to have his press conference in the first place?"
Other Villain floundered, which gave the officers time to sneak up behind them. But before they could be caught, Other Villain blasted them back with his power, then turned to Superhero. "I'll prove you were the one who did something to Villain!" He pointed his weapon at Superhero. "I swear it!"
With a dramatic swirl of his cape, he was gone. Superhero turned to his team. "Get everyone to safety." He ordered. "I'll start putting out the feelers to find both Villain and Other Villain. It's more important now than ever to figure out where they went."
The team did as he asked. Superhero watched them proudly for a moment before turning and leaving. Such obedient puppets.
He quickly changed out of his hero costume in the back room, then left. On the way home, he made several calls and made sure his spies in Villain's organization were ready to fake his Villain's death. He contemplated taking out Other Villain at the same time. Make it look like the two were working together, and something went wrong.
Arriving at his house cut off his thought process. Pulling into the garage, he got out and went inside his house. Looking around, he walked to the basement door. Unlocking all six of the locks on the door, Superhero went downstairs.
When Superhero had purchased the house, he found that the former owner had converted the basement into an apartment, complete with it's own bathroom, so that someone could rent the room, and the previous owner could have a second income coming in from the tenant. Over the years, Superhero had had no need for it, so it had been left to gather dust.
Until today.
His guest stood from his place on the bed as Superhero entered.
"Where the fuck am I?" Villain snarled. "What did you do?"
~
"Villain, sweetheart." Superhero said happily, as if they were discussing the weather. "I'm glad to see you're awake. How are are you feeling? Did the drug give you a headache?"
Villain glared at his lover. "Don't pull that bullshit with me." He snapped. "Where the hell am I? What the fuck did you do?"
Superhero's smile waned. "Villain, why don't we sit down to discuss this?" He said.
"No." Villain backed away from Superhero's reaching hands. "Don't touch me. And, while you're at it, let me go."
Superhero sighed. "Sweetheart." He soothed. "Please just listen to me. Aren't you even a little bit curious as to why I did this?"
Villain hesitated. Truth be told, he was a little curious as to what drove the crime-fighter to this point. They broke their own moral code by kidnapping Villain. He was curious as to lovers enemies motives.
"Alright, I'll bite." Villain sat back down. "Why am I here?"
"It's simple." Superhero sat down next to his ex-partner. “Because of our last conversation as lovers.” He answered. “You told me it was either you or them-”
“-and if you picked them, I would never see you again, at least not in the sense of lovers.” Villain cut him off. “What does that have to do with you kidnapping me?”
“Well. I made my choice.” Superhero took Villain's jaw in a bruising grip. “I choose option three.”
"Did you know that the same day you escaped prison, a hospital exploded?" Superhero asked. "Unfortunately, a lot of people died that day. It was a tragic accident, but I saw a way to spin it to my favor."
"I planted signs that you were behind it. Little things, like your symbol painted on a still-standing part of the building. camera footage placing you there, a few hours before the explosion happens. All things that sign your metaphorical death warrant.
Throughout Superhero's speech, Villain's face had gotten paler and paler until it was almost completely white. "You're a monster." He breathed.
"The other heroes think you blew up the hospital." Superhero continued like Villain hadn't spoken. "You are not safe anywhere beyond this house. I have made sure of that."
Villain's face was drained of color. "You're crazy." He whispered.
"Crazy in love with you." Superhero joked, but quickly grew serious. “Villain, I am only trying to give us both what we want - each other. I love you, more than anything, and I want to be with you.” He reached out and took his boyfriend's hand. “You gave me an impossible choice the last time we were together. Either I choose you, or I choose my team.”
“I remember.” Angel said tersely.
“I knew I could not abandon my team.” Superhero continued like he had not spoken. “They needed me, and so did the public.” He reached up to cup Villain's cheek. “But I need you.” Superhero pulled his hands back. “And the world doesn’t need you like I do.”
Villain’s eyes widened. Jumping from the bed, be backed away. “No, I will not be caged.” He snarled. “I won’t let you keep me here.”
“I don’t expect you to.” Superhero told him. “What I expect is for you to fight. I expect escape attempts. I’m even expecting you to try to kill me.” I leaned forward. “None of which you can do without your power.”
His eyes narrowed. “You can’t steal my power. It’s impossible.”
“No.” Superhero admitted, “but I can block it.”
Villain didn't have the chance to run before Superhero was lunging to grab him. Getting ahold of the criminal, Superhero injected him with a sedative, and Villain blacked out.
`
Villain woke up to weakness. Weakness so strong it was hard to move. And an emptiness where his powers usually were. It was an effort to lift his head to meet his captors eyes.
"Villain.” Superhero spoke calmly, like he was talking to a wild animal. “Villain, sweetheart, can you hear me?”
“Fuck you.” Villain slurred. Superhero’s gaze hardened. Villain thought that the hero was going to hit him, but he just turned away.
"The weakness will wear off soon." He said. "Unfortunately, I could not prevent it from happening completely, but I was able to decrease its effects." He messed with something out of Villain's vision. "This apartment is fully furnished, and has everything you will need to survive." He smiled at me. "You'll be safe here."
"If by safe, you mean trapped here as your prisoner, then yeah, I'm totally safe." Villain snapped, fighting to stand. "Guess what, Supes, I'm not going to stay here complacently, I'm going to fight this with everything I have in me. And when I strike, it will leave you crumpled in the dust."
Superhero laughed. "Good luck." He left, leaving him in his prison.

Summary:
The story begins the same for everyone, on the day of the ceremony, one of the most important for all the kids who take part in it every year, and Michelle will not miss the opportunity to leave behind a faction that she did not feel belonged to her.
On her journey, however, she will encounter someone who will make her initiation feel like hell.
Pairing: Eric Coulter x reader
Word count: 3.4k
Throughout the entire day, Michelle kept to herself, observing her peers one after another engage in combat on the mat. Sunny attempted to stay with her for a while, noticing her seeming shaken as she stared blankly ahead.
She appeared to be in a trance, as if she were inside a bubble isolating her from everyone else.
When six o'clock rolled around, they were dismissed, and Michelle wasted no time in getting up to leave the room, not waiting for anyone. However, a hand on her bicep stopped her. She glanced at the hand that halted her movement and then lifted her gaze, coming face to face with Eric.
"Good job today," he said, his expression devoid of emotion.
She looked at him for a moment before nodding and walking away, freeing herself from his grip.
Eric wasn't pleased with what he had been ordered to do, to go easy on her and keep an eye on her, but after that training session, his curiosity was piqued. He had thought she was weak, inadequate, and useless, but seeing her beat a fellow trainee until she passed out had stirred something within him.
He had seen the look in her eyes, devoid of emotion, her stoic face as she broke her opponent's nose. He liked this side of her.
He glanced at her one last time before turning back to the center of the gym, ready to start training on his own.
Meanwhile, Michelle headed straight to the dormitory, Sunny following behind her with Tina and Max catching up. She just wanted to hurry up, take a shower, and then rush to Tori's place to see if the stencil was ready.
"Hey, are you okay?" Sunny caught up, putting an arm around her shoulders.
She nodded, still staring ahead. She didn't know how to honestly answer her, she didn't even know herself how she felt at that moment; her knuckles tingled, bloody, and she had a strong headache from the blows she had taken.
"Sure?" Sunny insisted, pulling her closer, giving her a sideways hug. "I saw you a bit distant after the match."
The truth was she felt scared, losing control was something that had never happened to her before. When she heard Chloe surrender, she wanted to stop, but seeing her beneath her, bleeding, tears in her eyes, made her feel invincible.
Not even Eric's voice had stopped her with the first blow, too caught up in the euphoria of venting out everything she had endured among the Candor.
Sunny let her go, seeing how she didn't even respond to one-word answers, stopping Tina and Max who wanted to congratulate her. She needed time alone, and she was grateful for Sunny who understood that.
She entered the dormitory and took a seat on her bed, resting her elbows on her knees and burying her head in her hands.
"What am I doing?" she whispered to herself, reliving the images from a few hours earlier.
She retrieved from under the pillow the photo of her and Anne, now slightly crumpled from always having to hide it in inconspicuous places; she missed her, a lot, and she wondered what Anne would have thought if she had seen her in that situation.
She would probably have hated her, but she wouldn't have been able to leave her.
A drop fell onto the photo, and Michelle sniffled, wiping away her tears with the sleeve of her hoodie, trying to stop the tears that kept flowing one after another.
She hid the photo and headed to the showers, trying to avoid the gaze of the few initiates present in the dormitory, and got under the water as quickly as possible. It was there that she let go, crying silently and covering her mouth with her hands to muffle the sobs.
She couldn't be weak, she shouldn't be, yet she couldn't stop crying.
She spent more time than necessary under the now cold shower water, the stinging of her bruised knuckles had disappeared, and they had stopped bleeding. She realized that most of the blood on her hands wasn't hers but Chloe's.
She joined Sunny in the cafeteria, taking a seat beside her and Four, who were discussing their plans for the next day.
"...shooting range," Four was saying, but she ignored them, leaving them to their conversation. She wasn't in the mood to socialize, so she grabbed some food and remained in complete silence, hardly making any noise.
She glimpsed Max across from her getting fidgety, speaking in hushed tones with the girl next to him, Tina. Michelle rolled her eyes.
"Really good fight earlier," Max suddenly said, smiling at Michelle when she looked at him. "Awesome," he added with a thumbs-up.
"Yeah, it was so cool!" Tina exclaimed, and Michelle had to refrain from throwing her plate at her to wipe that amused expression off her face.
She watched them in silence, a monotone expression before finishing her meal and getting up. "Hey, no, don't-"
"Tina, stop!" Sunny interjected as her friend left, exiting the cafeteria after barely ten minutes.
"No, I wasn't making fun of her. It was really a good fight," Bowie, the tall guy, rolled his eyes at Tina voice.
"Oh, someone who gets it."
"But why would she react like this? She won!" Max exclaimed, confused.
Four let the forks fall onto his plate, drawing the attention of the table. He looked down before raising his gaze back to the initiates, a sarcastic expression. "She lost control."
"And so?" Max continued.
"And so, if she hadn't stopped, she could have killed her," Four replied, standing up. "Chloe won't be at training tomorrow; she's in the infirmary under observation."
Michelle made her way through the cold and dark corridors with the sole intention of reaching the tattoo shop, knowing that either Tori or Tyson would be there instead of in the cafeteria. She arrived at the brightly lit storefront and was fortunate not to encounter many people during her brief journey.
Entering, she noticed movement inside, and Tyson emerged from behind the counter, his stern expression replaced by a smile as he saw the girl approaching him.
"Michelle, I was hoping you'd stop by tonight," he said, straightening up the counter before moving towards one of the stations. Michelle followed him in silence.
She was tired.
"Tori gave me the stencil, what do you think?" Tyson showed her a sheet with his design on it, only enlarged and with some added details that she really liked. It was her design, just improved.
"I like it," she simply said.
"Do you want to do it tonight?" he began cleaning the station, expecting a yes. "I'm not sure how long it'll take; we've been provided with some new technologies to speed up the process. But it will hurt."
Tyson looked at her, warning her. He wasn't a big fan of the new machines; it felt like they took away his manual skill, but for a tattoo of that size, maybe it was more appropriate.
"That's okay," she wanted to finish it as soon as possible.
He motioned for her to lie face down on the table, and Michelle complied, taking off her hoodie and bra. The table's skin was cold against hers, giving her goosebumps.
"I'll apply the stencil," Tyson wasn't one to talk much, and Michelle was immensely grateful for it, managing to enjoy a couple of hours in silence.
At that hour, few Dauntless came into the shop, many busy resting or partying somewhere else.
She had to admit it was painful, not as much as she imagined, but she still had to hold back from releasing a groan more than once as Tyson passed over a sensitive area on her back.
Tyson followed her closely, his calloused fingers occasionally touching her to ensure the design was in place.
"We should be done," he said, approaching her and sitting on the stool beside her.
Suppressing a satisfied smile, he looked at the enormous tattoo etched on her skin. It had turned out better than he had imagined. He gave Michelle's shoulder a pat to signal her to get up.
"Look in the mirror."
Michelle rose from the table, holding her unfastened bra to her chest to see the tattoo in all its beauty. It was stunning; she stood there with her mouth agape, admiring the long stretches of black ink on her skin.
She was slightly flushed, but other than that, she was unfazed. "It's stunning," she whispered, continuing to gaze at herself in the mirror.
Tyson approached from behind, noticing his reflection in the mirror. He smiled at her. "I'm glad. You have talent, you know? You could come work here after initiation. You have your own style, and I think people here would appreciate it."
Michelle smiled to herself, blushing slightly at the compliment. She went to fasten her bra, but her shoulders were sore, stiffened after two hours in the same position.
"Can I?" Tyson whispered, and Michelle, uncertain, turned around, letting him fasten her bra.
"Thank you," Michelle returned to the station to put on her hoodie and then went to pay, but he stopped her.
"Consider it a gift and an extra reason to get through initiation. It would be a waste of such a tattoo among the factionless," he chuckled, refusing the payment.
Michelle looked at him, slightly confused by the gesture, but she smiled and nodded at him, bidding him farewell.
The corridors were cold as Michelle left the tattoo shop, not that it was anything new, but the noise coming from the Pit compensated for the coldness of that place. She leaned out, trying not to stumble, and saw a large group of Dauntless scattered all over the Pit.
Shouts, laughter, and songs echoed throughout the place. How could she not have heard them?
Michelle spotted some of her peers but decided to ignore them. She wasn't in the mood to celebrate, and to be honest, she never was. She wasn't a fan of parties.
She preferred silence, the ability to be alone with her thoughts. Her mind, already chaotic, didn't need further external distractions like blasting music, sweaty people, and drunkards constantly bumping into her.
It just wasn't her scene.
When she returned to the dormitory, she found only Bowie, the guy who had sat with them at dinner but whom she had never spoken to before. He was lounging on his bed, a book in hand.
She ignored him, taking a seat on her own bed instead, trying to get some sleep. However, it didn't take long for her to realize that sleeping on her back wouldn't be possible that night.
She turned on her mattress, as hard as concrete, before the boy's voice spoke to her. "Aren't you going to celebrate?"
It was monotone, tired.
"No," she replied.
Bowie lowered the book and observed her for a moment, intrigued by the girl who moved through the faction like a ghost. She went unnoticed, didn't linger in crowded places, and certainly didn't talk much.
He would have bet everything he owned that probably only they knew of her existence.
"I understand," he simply said before returning to his book.
Michelle managed to close her eyes, isolating herself from the noise coming from the Pit, and eventually drifted off to sleep. She didn't hear her roommates come back, or Sunny bumping into her bed.
She was immersed in the world of dreams, enveloped in darkness.
Her heart was racing, she couldn't see anything, not even her hands when she brought them to her face, and she started to panic when she felt wetness on them, as if someone had poured something over them.
Then, above her, a faint light appeared, illuminating the room she was in, but she still couldn't see the walls of it.
She lowered her gaze, observing her hands covered in red. The metallic smell invaded her nostrils, and she had to fight back the urge to vomit when she saw the body at her feet.
When she realized she was the one responsible for this, she began to tremble; the body was covered in bruises and blood, the face so disfigured that she couldn't tell whose it was.
Her breath was shallow, her heart racing as she clenched her hands into fists, biting her lip to distract herself from the excruciating pain radiating from her knuckles.
"Ellie?" the girl froze upon hearing that sweet voice, unable to turn around to face her. "Ellie, is that you?"
Tears began to well up in her eyes. She couldn't run, she couldn't hide, and she didn't have the courage to turn around and look Anne in the eyes, covered in blood.
Wasn't bravery supposed to be a defining trait of the Dauntless? To fear nothing?
Yet in that moment, she felt like a coward. She was scared, no, she was terrified of how her best friend might react.
But she turned anyway, very slowly, and when she raised her gaze to meet Anne's eyes, she saw her in tears, her face terrified. Michelle fell to her knees, unable to stand from shaking so violently.
"What have you done?" Anne whispered, keeping her distance.
"Anne-"
"What have you done to me, Ellie?" Michelle stopped crying at that moment, confused.
"What?" she asked, but Anne began to cry louder.
"Why? Why did you do this to me?" It was almost impossible to understand what she was saying, and Michelle turned to look at where Anne was pointing.
When she turned to look at the body, she screamed, falling to the ground, moving as far away from it as possible. She couldn't breathe, and tears began to stream down her face.
"No, no, no," she whispered to herself, pulling her knees to her chest and closing her eyes to try to rid herself of that image.
It wasn't real, it was just a bad dream, but she couldn't wake up. Why couldn't she wake up?
"Look what you've done," Anne whispered in her ear, crying. "Look at me."
Something pulled her hair, forcing her to look at the body a few meters away from her. Michelle struggled to see what was in front of her, her eyes blurred with tears, but her red hair was unmistakable.
"I'm sorry," she managed to say between sobs. She felt her heart shattered, as if someone had taken it and torn it from her chest.
Michelle jerked up from her bed, falling to the floor. She couldn't breathe, feeling her heart pounding out of her chest. She got up and ran to the bathroom.
She turned on the faucet and began to scrub her hands under the water forcefully, ignoring the sharp pain caused by the wounds that were reopening. She tried to stay quiet, suppressing the sobs and moans that escaped her mouth every time she thought of Anne's unrecognizable body.
"It wasn't real, it wasn't real, it wasn't real..." she kept whispering like a broken record. She had to convince herself it wasn't real, just a bad dream. But then why did it feel so vivid?
She could have sworn she remembered the warm blood still on her hands. Anne's blood. "No..." she whimpered at the thought and decided to leave the dormitory, unable to stay silent for much longer.
She didn't even bother to put on a pair of shoes or pants other than her pajama shorts. She ran through the corridors, ignoring the pain caused by the uneven floor under her feet.
Nothing could compare to the pain her heart felt at that moment.
She didn't think about where to go, but her feet led her to the chasm. She stopped to observe it, not understanding why she had ended up there, but she decided to stay, sitting on the metal walkway overlooking the rushing water.
It would take just a small push to end her life; someone could come up behind her and give her a gentle nudge to make her fall. Yet she didn't care.
She pulled her knees to her chest and resumed crying, ignoring the cold that the current brought with it; she had goosebumps.
Her sobs were barely audible over the crashing water against the rocks. She felt powerless in that moment, a feeling entirely different from the one she had felt that morning when she had felt invincible, with Chloe's life in her hands.
Maybe this wasn't the place for her. Maybe she was right to think she wouldn't make it through initiation.
Maybe Eric was right.
Michelle, however, was unaware that she was being watched by the latter. Eric observed her through the cameras in the control room, with Four seated in front of him.
"Is she planning to jump?" Eric asked, raising an eyebrow. He had to admit he was confused to see her so broken when just a few hours earlier he had seen her stronger than ever.
"I don't think so," Four replied, rising from his seat.
Eric watched him leave. "Where are you going?"
Eric's colleague stopped and turned to look at him, wearing a serious expression. "I'm going to make sure she doesn't seriously jump."
Eric scoffed. "Too bad for her. We can't babysit initiates who can't handle everything, Four. We can't have weak links in here."
Four looked at him and chuckled, incredulous and annoyed. "Not everyone is a sociopath like you, Eric. Michelle lost control with Chloe, you saw it yourself, she wasn't herself! What did you expect her reaction to be?"
He resumed walking towards the cliff to find Michelle, hoping her plans weren't really to jump. It would be a shame, especially because Jeanine Matthews would be furious with them.
Michelle was important to their leader, but they didn't yet know why.
Four walked through the cold and dark corridors in silence, contemplating what to do once he reached the girl. The most important thing was to get her away from the cliff to avoid the greater danger, then he would have to figure out a way to calm her down.
He was surprised not to find her in the gym that night, which is why he decided to go to the control room to try to find her, to make sure everything was okay. It wouldn't be the first time another initiate had attacked someone potentially better than them.
When he arrived at the cliff, he stopped; the girl no longer seemed to be crying, instead, she was gazing into the void below her. A few drops of water had landed on her legs, making her even colder, but she couldn't bring herself to care.
Michelle couldn't get that nightmare out of her head, now imprinted in her mind like a branding iron.
Ignoring the footsteps approaching, Michelle recognized the figure of Four, and certainly he wouldn't be the one to push her off. He took a seat beside her, letting his legs dangle from the walkway, but he didn't say anything.
He watched her, the typically apathetic and stoic expression he often saw on her was no longer present; her eyes were red and swollen, still watery, and furrowed brows betrayed her torment. He didn't know her well, only a couple of weeks, yet he would have sworn he couldn't see the day she would fall apart. Now, next to her, Michelle had started to crack.
"This isn't a good place to be alone," he said softly, not wanting to disturb her too much, but now his main mission was to get her away from the walkway.
Michelle didn't respond.
Four sighed and stood up, offering her a hand that she didn't even look at. "Michelle, I don't have time to waste," he said, annoyed.
Her silence was agonizing normally, but in that moment it was a hundred times worse. How could he help her get back on her feet if she didn't tell him what was troubling her?
He looked around for a strategy to get her to stand up, then he looked at her, narrowing his eyes as he saw black lines peeking out from under her hoodie. A tattoo couldn't have caused such a reaction.
So what was it?
"Please..." he whispered, rubbing his eyes, tired from the long day. He wanted to go to sleep, to lie down in his bed and finally relax his muscles, but now Michelle was a priority, she and her safety.
At his plea, she stood up, avoiding his gaze out of shame. She felt her cheeks burning since he arrived, embarrassed to have been found in such a state. At least she didn't cry in front of him.
They walked in silence through the faction's corridors, ignoring the tense atmosphere that had developed between them. Michelle slouched, ignoring the occasional glances her instructor threw her way.
It didn't take them long to reach the dormitory doors, and Michelle tried to open the door, but Four stopped her, turning her towards him. His ocean-blue eyes scrutinized her, and Michelle got lost in them.
"Are you okay?" he asked her in a low voice, leaning closer to be heard. He didn't want to wake anyone inside the dormitory given the late hour.
Michelle looked at him carefully, sniffing uncertain of what to say or whether to respond. She just wanted to be left alone at that moment, to have some time to herself, and she was tired, damn if she was tired.
Yet the idea of going back to sleep made her feel nauseous, the images still fresh in her mind. She nodded slightly, but Four didn't believe her and was about to ask her another question when they were interrupted by a voice to their right.
"What do we have here?" Eric chirped, stepping a few paces closer to them, closely observing their proximity. Michelle immediately recoiled, feeling the judgmental gaze of the leader, anticipating a tasteless comment about to escape his mouth.
Four looked at him defiantly. "Nothing, and you know it," he replied through clenched teeth, irritated by his colleague's childish behavior. He was unbearable.
"Well, she certainly didn't seem fine," he said, looking at Four before turning his gaze to Michelle, observing her from head to toe. "You could have chosen better; it won't last long. Bad choice."
He chuckled, noticing Michelle lowering her gaze, offended by the offensive comment towards her. His words shouldn't have hurt so much, yet she found herself holding back tears once again that evening.
She turned on her heels and entered the dormitory, not wanting to endure Eric's presence for more than a second. Eric was like acid in a certain way, attractive and toxic at the same time.
Something you wanted to study thoroughly to understand why it was so toxic, corrosive, yet Michelle knew it would be a terrible idea. But she wasn't stupid; she felt the way his touch on her skin set her on fire and his comments struck closer to her heart than they should have.
The two boys watched the initiate enter the dormitory, cautiously closing the door behind her without saying a word; not that it was anything new.
Eric turned to look at Four, arms crossed in front of his chest and one eyebrow raised, but his colleague ignored him, brushing past him and making sure to give him a shove.
The blonde watched him go, then shifted his attention to the dormitory door through which Michelle had just entered. Why was he so intrigued by her?
Perhaps it was the fact that Jaenine was equally interested in her, sparking a deep curiosity in him, or maybe it was the fact that he knew nothing about her. He didn't see her around much, she spent little time with her peers, and it seemed like Lauren adored her for some strange reason.
What was so special about Michelle?

Chapter Twenty-Two
"Is Spencer with you?" The voice on the other end of Delilah's phone belongs to Emily Prentiss.
"No. He texted me that he was leaving for work an hour ago." Delilah's voice is filled with concern and confusion.
"He's not here. Do you mind coming to Quantico?"
She nods, and realizes Emily can't see her. “Yeah. Yes of course."
Delilah tells her assistant she'll be late for work today. She gets into her car and drives to FBI Headquarters.
"What's going on?" Delilah says, more to herself than the team.
"It's not like him to sleep in. I don't think in the 18 years I’ve known this man that he was ever slept in," JJ says. "Or fall back asleep."
"Should I be worried? Because I'm worried."
"It's okay, we'll get to the bottom of this," Alvez says to Delilah.
Garcia tracks his phone, impressing Delilah immensely by her skills.
"She's like basically a wizard," Luke says with a slight smile.
Delilah nods, smiling back as much as she can.
"A hot wizard," Penelope corrects him. "Last place his phone was on was a few miles from his apartment."
Delilah furrows her eyebrows. "He turned it off?"
"Someone did," Matt says, crossing his arms.
"None of us know anything about someone who seemed threatening in his life, do you?" Emily asks Delilah, sitting her down. "Anything is useful."
"No. No, things were perfectly fine as far as I know," she sighs.
"No one seemed to have something out for him. Or even you?"
She shakes her head.
_____
You were back at work for six days now. Well, the show was back to filming, Delilah wasn't on this episode until the end. While your boyfriend, it's still crazy to call Gubler that.... while Matthew was filming with the others, you stayed at your place and decided to clean up a bit to occupy your time. Your playlist blared as you cleaned your closet. New Year's Day started replaying in your head, and you stop what you’re doing, smiling to yourself. New Year's day, you’d woken up with a slight hangover, Matthew's chest under your head.
A part of you had thought you dreamt up the whole night before. You smile, not wanting to leave the bed ever again, but you did leave the bed. You put on a pot of coffee and then went to the restroom to brush your teeth.
"I thought you bailed on me, then I remember we're in your apartment," Matthew says with a soft laugh.
"There's coffee in the kitchen," you smile.
He pulls your back to his chest and kisses your head. "Thank you." Matthew leaves to go into your kitchen so you could finish up. You rinse your mouth and go to join him.
The two of you sit on the couch. You put your legs on his lap, leaning back into the cushions. He rests a hand on your calf, rubbing your leg gently.
"I hate when Aisha's right," you grunt, rolling your eyes.
"What?" He laughs, eyes questioning you.
"She told me a while back that the reason we fought all the time was because I was hiding my feelings for you."
A small smile grew on his face. “Adam told me the same thing."
"How annoying of them," you say, finishing your coffee.
"Damn girl," he laughs. “Want some more?"
"Yes please. Anything to get rid of this dumb headache."
"Maybe you should've had drunk so much last night."
You point a finger at him. "Hey, my drinking got us together."
He laughs softly, standing up to refill your cup.
You watch as he walks to your kitchen and pours some more coffee, putting in just the right amount of ice and creamer. He does pay attention. You smile. This is a sight you'd never thought you'd enjoy so much, Matthew messy-haired and still sleepy in your apartment.
_____
"Wait. My new assistant has been kind of... strange."
"Strange how?"
"I catch her looking into my office window sometimes m, she stole my perfume one day, and my receptionist told me one day she just left work out of the.... holy shit."
"What?"
"Spencer was there that day. He had just left to meet me at the coffee shop while I was finishing up. That's the day Jenna left work. Like ten minutes after Spencer."
"I think we have a lead."
"Oh my god. I can't believe this..."
"It's not your fault, Delilah."
"I hired her," Delilah says, running her hand though her hair.
"It's not your fault."
Garcia asks Delilah for her assistant's name. "Ah yes, okay she's from Miami, Florida, 31 years old. Lemme check her phone records."
Delilah watches as Penelope types away. "Okay so no phone calls were made today, but there's one from 11:38 last night to a Kendrick Omar, actually there's hundreds of calls to this number from the past three months. Does that name ring a bell?"
Omar. The last name of the guy who kidnapped Delilah and her father and killed him.
"We profiled that Omar's true intentions were to get Delilah, right?" Luke asks.
Emily nods. "Maybe he has a brother that didn't show up on his records."
"So you're saying the guy who kidnapped and killed my father, the guy you shot, might've taken Spencer?"
Concerned and serious looks are shared between the team.
Delilah sighs audibly. "I did a background check. Hell, I did two background checks on this woman."
JJ touches her arm lightly. "We're going to find him."
Delilah nods, closing her eyes.
The team works together, having Delilah stay in the building for psychological and protective reasons. Garcia types away at her keyboard, working her magic.
After an hour, Prentiss tells Delilah "We've pieced together that Jenna is obsessed with you. She wants you for herself, the same weird fantasy that Omar had. They'd met you through your dad and you most likely remind them of their first victim. Spencer got in the way of her having you. Jealousy overtook her, so she retaliated. This could also be a lure for you."
Delilah wonders if she looks as sick as she feels. She nods to Emily.
"I have an address. There's a house ten miles outside of town that's in Kendrick Omar's name," Penelope says.
"I'm going with you."
"No you're not," Luke says, more concerned than sternly.
"Yes I am. If this is a lure, then let them lure me in. I trust you guys will be there to protect me. Plus, if I'm part of their fantasy, then they won't actually hurt me." Delilah folds her arms. "I need to be there when we get Spencer back."
"She's smart," Matt says.
"Okay," Prentiss sighs, "We'll get got a vest to wear under your shirt."
Delilah nods, biting her lip anxiously.
Soon enough, they pile into an suv, driving to the address Penelope gave them.
"I should go in alone," Delilah says. "I don't doubt they'd hurt Spencer if they saw FBI with me."
"We'll go around back." Emily grabs Delilah's hand. "Be careful."
Delilah nods and gets out of the suv.
"Jenna?" Delilah calls, walking in slowly.
"Oh good you're here," Jenna smiles, walking to the line of vision. She's holding a gun in her right hand. "I wasn't sure if this would work. I was actually sort of hoping you wouldn't want to save him."
"Kidnapping an FBI agent isn't the brightest idea, Jenna."
"That's exactly what Kendrick said," she smiles devilishly, "then I shot him."
"Why did you do this?"
"Why do you think? I did it for you, silly. For us."
Delilah takes in a sharp breath. Why go through all the trouble? Why not just tell me? We could've had a life together without hurting anyone."
The look in her eyes changes. "Would that have worked?"
Delilah nods. "Just let Spencer go, and I'll go wherever you want with you."
"Come with me," she holds her hand out to Delilah. She takes it.
Jenna leads her to a room where Spencer is tied to a chair. He's clearly been given a sedative and his head is bloody. He averts his gaze upwards to Delilah, eyes showing signs of relief and joy at the sight of her.
"I want you to say it in front of him."
"Say what?"
Jenna glares at Delilah. "What you said earlier. How you want a life with me."
Delilah looks to Spencer, then to Jenna. "I love you, and I want to be with you."
"Now say it to him," she gestures to Spencer with her gun.
Delilah looks down then into Spencer's eyes. "I want to be with her. I don't love you."
Delilah then smiles to Jenna, trying desperately to get her to let him go.
Jenna sighs, looking annoyed and angry. "I wish I believed that, sweetheart.”
"But I-"
Jenna slaps her across the face. "You're lying."
"I'm not. I promise I'm not. Just let him go and we can leave. Together." Delilah pleads, holding her face.
"If you don't love him, then you'll shoot him yourself."
"What?" Her eyes widen.
"Go on," Jenna hands her the gun.
"We don't have to hurt anybody. There's no need to hurt anybody."
"You're really pissing me off. Just pull the damn trigger."
Delilah points the gun at Spencer, tears pricking at her eyes. The team was already in the house, she knew that. Delilah drops her aim to the ground.
"Fuck, I'll do it," Jenna goes to grab the gun, but before she can, Delilah shoots her in the stomach.
Her eyes widen as she falls. Blood spills onto the floor in front of Delilah's eyes. Emily and Luke rush into the room, the others following behind. There's looks of relief in their eyes as they see it was Jenna on the ground and not Delilah or Spencer.
Delilah's vision is blurry and her ears ring as Spencer is being untied. Tears fall from her eyes. She had walked away from them, barely even noticing she did so. She feels a touch on her arms and she jumps slightly.
"Hey, it's okay." The voice belongs to Spencer.
"I shot someone..."
The medics were already arriving, getting Jenna onto a stretcher. She's alive, losing a lot of blood, but alive.
"You saved my life."
Delilah turns so her head was against his chest. She cries into him, holding on to his shirt. "I thought I was going to lose you."
"I know. I know, baby. I'm okay."
"For what it's worth, you were brave as hell," Emily says to Delilah on their way to the suv. Delilah's walking beside Spencer with her head hanging low. She nods to Emily, mustering up a slight smile.
_____
"I'm sorry you had to do that," Spencer breaks the silence while they're sitting on the couch.
Delilah nods. "I'm just glad you're okay. Maybe this is finally all over for us.”
"I hope so," Spencer smiled, grabbing her hand. "I love you."
"I love you," she says, leaning her head on his shoulder.
He has a slight concussion that the doctors told him to watch out for, but other than that he's alright.
You just finished filming your last episode of season 16. It's a crazy feeling. Right now, it's almost 12am and you're sitting on Matthew's actor chair while the director talk to you guys.
There's a few more episodes left in the season, but Delilah is off the screen for the rest of it. Jeff tells you to meet in the table read room.
When you walk in, you see the rest of the cast and a few crew members standing around the table. AJ presents you a pan of cupcakes, one reads "that's a wrap".
You smile. "You guys are the best."
All of you dig into the sweets and talk amongst each other. Matthew kisses your temple. "I'll miss bugging you at work."
"Of course you will," you roll your eyes playfully.
After a little over an hour, Matthew drives you home since you carpooled to set anyway.
"How does it feel to be jobless?"
"Ha ha," you say with a smile. "Actually, not bad yet. But I'll definitely be bored soon."
He smiles. "I'm sure you'll find hundreds of projects just itching you cast someone like you."
"And what would that be?" You lean into him.
"Talented, frustrating, and pretty. Among other things."
You smile. "You should get some rest."
"You too."
You kiss Matthew's lips softly. "Goodnight."
He smiles, "Goodnight, Y/n." He leaves your apartment after giving you another kiss.
You smile, turning on your heels to your bedroom.

Bloodsinger: Vampire! Eddie Munson x Black Reader Drabble Part 2/5
Summary:
Out of every news source in the country, the one and only lead singer of Corroded Coffin and self proclaimed vampire Eddie Munson has decided to do a sit down interview with The Hawkins Post. Instead of your boss, you’re sent to a mansion on Halloween Night and you’re in no way prepared for what’s in store.
Trigger Warnings: violence, gore, blood k!nk ,  a tinsy bit of cardiophilia if you squint, 80s workplace sexism
Inspired by: The Vampire Chronicles, Lost Boys, Vampire Diaries, Twilight, honestly every single vampire trope and cliche is in present and accounted for in this fic.
minors dni, I check.
this chapter is nsfw and a little steamy so be careful where you read it;)
“And that’s WHUD 96.7 with today’s biggest hits! Next up we have a new single from Corroded Coffin off their new album, The Hellfire Club!”
The blaring radio is what wakes you up, the noise giving you an instant headache as you unplug it and shove it off the bedside table.
You’re about to cocoon yourself back under the covers when you realize you have no idea how you got home last night, given the fact the evening ended with a wild dream about a celebrity licking your blood like he was trying to get to the center of a tootsie pop.
Your dreams have never been this intricate before, but whatever gets you a full eight hours of sleep.
It was just a dream, right?
You fell asleep at your desk at work and drove home half awake and that’s that.
Your commitment to logic has you out of bed with a yawn, eager to chalk it all up to a bad dream and get ready for the day. But the part of you that  longs to see beyond reason has you racing on shaky legs to the bathroom, examining your neck in the fluorescent lighting, relieved to see nothing there.
That takes care of that.
Satisfied, you reach up to turn the light off but your shoulder protests the too quick movement.  A mixture of horror and awe has you unbuttoning your pajama top to see a neat and clean bandage on your shoulder.
The botched interview, the glass, the portrait.
His face.
All real.
“Phone for you, it’s your boss!”
“Be right there!” You called out, gingerly buttoning your top back up before raising down the hall to the phone, trying to appear as normal as possible to your roommate.
“ Do you have any idea what time it is? I’ve been calling you for hours!”  Your boss bellows into the phone. You glance up at the clock on the wall and nearly drop the phone when you see it’s five o’ clock in the afternoon.
“Sorry,  I got in late from the interview. Why are you calling me on a Saturday?”
“ Munson’s publicist called, he wants you to finish the interview tonight. Car will be there in 15 minutes.”
“Oh hell no, tell them I’m sick.”
“ Whatever you did last night left an impression on that freak, dollface.  If you get this right, I’ll let you have your first pick of leads for the next six months.”
“But-
“Or you can pack up your desk on Monday.”
“Fine.” You hang up the phone.
Well at least you know you’re not a vampire, no vampire could feel as tired as you do right now.
The drive is the same, silent and far too short for you to get your shit together. The crowd from the previous night had dwindled to a few people and the window looked as though it had never been broken in the first place.
Again you’re met with the same darkness but you’re more annoyed than scared this time around.
“Okay, you got me here! What do you want from me?”
“How’s your shoulder?”
He’s directly behind you this time, hand around your waist when you trip over your own feet at the sudden surprise. His fingers lightly run over the bandage as you for some reason you can’t put into words, lean into his embrace for a little longer.
“It stings.”  You say softly, wanting nothing more than to continue to be held just like this but you come to your senses and step back into the waiting chair. “ Mr. Munson, thank you for agreeing to finish the interview, I assure you what happened last night will not reflect badly on the and or with The Hawkins Post moving forward.”
“Having a journalist bleed out all over my floor would have definitely looked bad.”
“So would killing one.”
He almost looks sad, offended even at the suggestion.
“You think I brought you back here to kill you? You think what I want from you is death?” He asked, sitting down in the chair across from you.
“Everything is telling me to walk out that door after what I saw last night. Vampires aren’t supposed to be real, let alone have record deals. You could have killed me last night but you didn’t so either you want to draw this out or there’s something else. “
You hold your head in your hands, exhausted by the events of the last 24 hours you’re not entirely sure if you’re having a very vivid and very long hallucination brought about by burnout from writing stories nobody was reading.
Eddie leaned forward, tilting your chin up to look at him.
“What do you want?”
“I want a job I don’t hate, I want my own place,  I want to feel like my life isn’t meaningless.” You whispered.
“Oh baby, your life might be a lot of things, but it is not meaningless, not by a long shot. What if I told you I could give you everything you want?”
“In exchange for what, Eddie? My immortal soul?”
“ Not quite. I want your blood, baby.”
You snap back to reality at that, looking at the painting before looking back at Eddie. This could be some elaborate prank or performance art about fame but you have to see this through.
“ Why my blood?  There are blood banks, hospitals, any loyal fan or person off the street can give you blood so why mine?”
Eddie stands to his feet at your question, footsteps slow and deliberate as he pulls the curtains closed and the living room doors closed.
You’re not leaving this room.
“It might be better for me to show you rather than tell you.” He said and finished up closing the room tight. Before you can blink, he’s back in front of you, taking your hand in his.
“Do you trust me?”
“Still, no.”
“Can you try? Just for a little while?”
You relent and Eddie lifts you into his arms and brings you over to the couch, gently placing you on the plush cushions.
“Is this okay?”  He asks, reaching down to slip off your socks and your shoes.
“Yes.”
“And this?” His lips nip their way up your thighs, pushing the hem of your dress up to expose your panties.
“How about now?”
“If this is just some elaborate ploy to get into my panties-
“ Tell me something: for someone so stubborn, why are you already wet?” He asked, slipping your underwear off and stuffing them into his back pocket.
“ Go fuck your-
Before you can finish your thought, Eddie’s teeth sink into your thigh and two ringed fingers inside you. You don’t know whether to cry out from pain or something else entirely as your blood trickles onto the couch and down Eddie’s chin.
“That’s it, good girl.”
The more of your blood he devours in the time that passes, the more his fingers explore your clit, slow and steady at first but at the first whimper that escapes from your mouth, the speed increases, persistent and rhythmic, leaving your hand to shakily cling to the back of Eddie’s head. His fangs dig deeper and this time you do cry out.
“Do you want me to stop, baby?”
“Not your baby and no.” You manage to choke out, your body shaking with blood loss and pleasure from such a small yet euphoric act. By the time he retracts his fangs from your leg and his fingers retreat, you’re holding onto consciousness by a thread.
“You with me, sweetheart? Do you know where you are?” He asks, stroking your check with one hand and keeping pressure on the wound on your thigh.
“I’m in your living room where you just bit and fingered me.”
“That’s my girl. Your blood sings to me, I wasn’t sure last night but now I am. Just rest, you’re doing fine, I’ve got you.” He kisses your forehead while your eyes start to flutter close.
“Hey Eddie?”
“Yes, baby?”
“Why do I look like her?” You barely lift your finger to point in the direction of the portrait and the last thing you see before passing out for the second time is an overwhelming sadness clouding his features.
Vampires were real, of this you were now completely certain.

Remus Lupin? What's up with that dude?
word count: 1K A/N: This general idea was just too funny i had to write it 😭 (You'll see what "it" is) So that's what I did I sat for an hour and typed <333 here u go
The marauders sat around the common room pouring over rolls of parchment and textbooks.
“My brain cannot absorb anymore information” Sirius sighed as he flopped onto his back.
“Didn’t think it could absorb anything to begin with Pads, I'm proud of you.” responded Remus.
Sirius stuck out his tongue. He did have a point though, The past week they had been cramming in studying for their NEWTS any spare time they got.
“Remus, are you coming out with us after exams?” Lily asked, “Next saturday?”
“Yeah that- wait Saturday? I don’t think I can actually. Sorry guys.” He was genuinely disappointed, they've been hustling all week, and now school was over. Unfortunately he had other plans.
Sirius pulled his Sirius-esque pouting face “Mooooooons!”
“It’s uh, ‘that time of the month’” James hinted to Sirius.
Sirius was less discreet, “OH right of course hun.”
The girls looked questioningly at each other, but didn’t pry.
“Oh well, maybe next time.”
- - -
Remus and Lily were on prefect duty, quizzing each other as they made rounds through the halls.
“...is why transfiguration is regarded as a somewhat scientific magic- Remus? Are you listening?”
Lily turned to see Remus stopped in the middle of the hall a couple steps behind. She went back to get him, looping her arm in his. He told her he had a light headache, and it was probably just because he didn’t sleep well last night.
“You don’t sleep well a lot of nights Remus you should work on that.” She said in a sort of teasing, mostly serious way. He promised he would, but Lily was still a bit concerned.
- - -
The four boys, Lily, Mary and Marlene all sat in the back of the class together, except now instead of plotting they were frantically trying to write down everything Slughorn was saying.
“How much lavender did he say?”  whispered Peter.
“Four sprigs” whispered back Remus.
“The same for valerian sprigs?”
“Yes.”
“Where do the sopophorous beans come from?” Peter leaned over again.
“From the sopophorous plant.”
“Yes of course. Why the flobberworm mucus?”
“Just to thicken the solution”
“Wouldn’t that make it harder to drink though?”
"I guess it would Pete, can you stop asking me stupid questions now?” Remus said, a little louder than he intended. He felt bad at the hurt look on Peter's face.
“Is there a problem back there?” asked Slughorn.
Remus told him no, and left as soon as they were dismissed.
“I'm sure he's just a bit stressed,” reassured James as they watched him leave.
- - -
Exams were finally over.
Remus was sitting with Mme. Pomfrey like every other month. The other three boys came over to tell him they were going to hogsmeade, and they would make it back as soon as it got dark. Remus told them not to worry, they should enjoy their end of year, without needing to wait on him. Of course they told him that was ridiculous, they would do anything for their Moony.
Meanwhile Lily, Mary and Marlene were waiting at the entrance of Hogsmeade. James told them they were just dropping Remus off at the infirmary because he ‘wasn’t feeling well’.
“It’s really too bad Remus couldn’t come today,” said Marlene.
“This happens every month,” said Lily.
The three of them looked at each other.
“Did you notice his headaches?” lily asked them, “He almost fainted on rounds last week.”
“It could just be finals?”
“Or his mood swings lately?”
“Same thing, every month.”
They noticed the boys coming over, and the six of them headed into town.
Marlene tried asking them what exactly happened to Remus, and they answered confidently that he just had a stomach ache. Huh.
After a few seconds of silence Mary broke the ice, “Is Remus trans?”
The boys looked stunned. “What?”
“He's definitely on his period” “The mood swings?”
“Everymonth he ‘falls ill’”
“Of course we’d support him either way.”
“Only a trans kid would name himself ‘Remus’”
“Sorry if we’re overstepping.”
The boys kind of panicked, what were they supposed to say? “Oh no he's actually just a werewolf”?
“Yep. Yep that's what it is. That's his big secret.” Peter told them.
James and Sirius just smiled and nodded aggressively. “Please keep it!”
They promised of course they would, and continued their walk.
“Welp guys,” James whispered, “Good job, we are such good secret keepers!”
- - -
Monday Remus was back, looking a little sore but overall better than before. He and Lily were back on prefect duty.
“It’s crazy this is our last year here. I’m gonna miss you guys.”
“Hey, We’ll still see each other after grad,” She paused, “Remus just know, that you’re my best friend, and I love you and support you always.”
“I appreciate it, Lils, really.” Remus looked at her kind of confused, “This just end of the year stuff or-?”
“Just Saturday, you couldn't come out with us, and we asked James and Sirius and Peter and they told us why. Or really we figured it out ourselves-”
“Oh. Am I really that transparent?” He looked down.
“Oh no I’m not saying that. It's not like its er visible- but, we’re girls too so we thought-”
“So it wasn't my scars then? Wait, girls too-?? Lily what?”
“Your scars-?”
The two of them stood staring at each other confused.
“Peter said you’re trans?”
“Trans!? No Lily I-” Remus bent over laughing. “I’m gay sure, but not trans.”
“Then why do you ‘get sick’ every month? We thought you had a period and just didn’t want anyone to know-?” She looked kind of embarrassed now.
“Lils, I-I’m a werewolf. Full moon.”
“Ohhhh.” She looked at him, he looked back at her. “OH!” There it was. They stood a bit more.
“So… that love and support stuff still stand?” He asked quietly.
She linked his arm, “Of course Remus. You’re still my friend, trans-boy or werewolf.”
He laughed and they started walking again arm in arm.
“Wait, is that why they call you ‘Moony’???”

Why would you wear black to a wedding - chapter 2
Wednesday woke up in terrible pain. She had a massive headache, her muscles were all sore and she had that lingering fear of waking up after a nightmare. It was great. The girl got up, it was already six am and she was very late for her morning guillotine use practice. To be very honest she had been tired, she was summoned hours after she went to sleep, and then for some reason agreed to fake date a werewolf.
A pretty girl her age before her, looking at her with shiny eyes, and Wednesday wanted to leave. She had turned down requests from summoners before, and she would do it again. One time, someone summoned her thinking her mom would answer, and that was a very awkward conversation to have. But despite her complaints about "human beings and their annoying behavior" Wednesday loved the curse. She had been waiting for it her whole life, and the feeling of her soul being sucked from her body was always so horrifically good.
Not to mention that every time she answered a request, the girl gained power as a witch. She got stronger and stronger, to the point she was fairly sure she could defeat a monster as powerful as a vampire in a fight. So really, it should've been easy to walk away. She had everything. She didn't need the magic the job would give her.
But as golden curls and blue eyes stood in front of her, she got stuck. That girl was an interesting being. She shone more than the stars at night, and talked like her life depended on it. Wednesday found that fascinating. Well, she did find most social being considerably interesting. How could one form relationships so strong as to endure the hardships of life ? How did people connect so easily, so fast ? It had taken her a lifetime of good occurrences to trust her very best friend, Eugene. But some people made friends like it was as easy as killing flowers. Some people shined like stars.
The eldest Addams child turned back to her room, as her brother once again escaped the guillotine and ran downstairs, probably to try and explode something. She opened an old drawer in the attic where the guillotine was, dozens of cursed notebooks to choose from staring back at her. She got one with a black leather cover, and opened in the first page, quite enjoying herself when a beetle got out of it and ran through her hair. In the first line she wrote :
Enid Sinclair , an analysis of werewolf relationships and interactions
She spent the rest of the morning writing.
Wednesday knocked on the door, she read somewhere that was polite. The girl who had summoned her the night before - Enid - opened it, seeming quite confused for a moment, before she pulled the witch in and closed the door behind her.
"I am prepared" The girl in black said as she sat on the very edge of the pink bed. Now that the lights were on, she realized the room was quite colorful, and that made her dizzy. She didn't want to touch the pink too much, afraid it might make the sinking feeling in her chest worse.
"Prepared for…?" Enid sat in front of her, with her legs crossed and a questioning expression.
"Prepared for the wedding, of course." Was that girl dumb ? "I made some research on werewolf weddings and traditions in general. I have some graphics if you want to see them." She added after a pause.
"Oh… I mean, I thought we were gonna get ready together." The werewolf looked down "But it's okay! I'm sure we can still learn tons about each other before tonight. It's only two pm after all."
"Tonight ? What do you mean, wasn't the wedding on Sunday ? Today 's Friday."
"Hum… Sorry I didn't know how to tell you this yesterday, my mom wants to meet you _ well, to met the girl I'm ' going out with ' before the ceremony. I tried to make her back down but she insists on it." Enid was playing with strands of hair, and scratching her scalp as she talked. " I'm sorry"
" It is okay. I prepared myself for unusual situations". Wednesday took her notebook from her bag. " This is an unusual summoning job. Usually I just kill someone, deliver their head and call it a day."
Enid looked at her like she had many questions, but ultimately decided against saying anything.
"OK so first things first." The girl in pink said after taking herself a notebook from her shelf. " We gotta get to know each other, my moms probably gonna ask a lot. So, I wrote down some things you have to know about me and some questions for you, now, if you don't want to actually talk about your life which I totally get since I'm a stranger and all we could invent a couple lies to cover you. So I'm thinking you are an astronaut and-"
"Why would I want to lie ? That sounds harder than just talking about my real life." Wednesday would never get how other people worked, she thought. Pink girl had such a weird brain.
"I mean, if you want to talk about your life life you can do that I just wanted you to feel comfortable and all…"
"I feel terrible. This nauseating colors make me want to kill myself in the most horrible way." Wednesday closed her eyes, and breathed in slowly. "It's great."
Enid wanted to argue against that confusing logic but kept her mouth shut. "Anyways" she said, " I made you a quiz on me! There are some questions and then you just have to click on the little squares to see the answers."
Wednesday furrowed her brows. "All the due offense, why would I want a quiz on you ?"
"So we can get to know each other, silly! I just explained it! It's all part of my plan."
" You have a plan ? No offense, but you don't seem like the plan tipe."
"I don't have a plan, I have the most awesome plan."
"Enlighten me then, pretty pink girl." Enid's cheeks turned red at that, but Wednesday didn't think much of it. She was used to seeing people turn red when she hanged them and such.
"Well" The girl says looking away "I was thinking we could say we had a meet cute in a coffee shop and started talking then. Maybe sending letters to each other ? I know they're outdated but they're so roman-"
" Why would I be in a coffee shop though ?"
"That's what you have a problem with ? Ok, Hum, maybe you needed some coffee I guess, since it's what they huh, sell there and all that"
"I don't drink coffee. Needing caffeine to wake up is for the week. If I'm feeling tired I'll drink the blood of my fallen enemies mixed with some monster."
"In that case, maybe you needed coffee for a potion or something ?"
"There is a very specific type of poison that requires caffeine. I like the way you think, pink girl."
" I have a name, you know. It's Enid."
"I will read your notes and do your silly quiz then, Enid."
They fell into comfortable silence then, after Enid handed Wednesday the notes and Wednesday gave her "The book of torture, a essencial read to get to know me." The pictures and description in it were absolutely nasty, just as Wednesday loved, and Enid seemed to be having a hard time reading it. "I'll take one for the team" she said when Wednesday asked about it.
She didn't know they were a team.
Four hours of conversation and silence both, had passed before Wednesday remembered she never actually explained the Addams family ritual to Enid. She thought if she was gonna be a sacrifice, she'd like to know so perhaps she should tell pink girl about the ritual, but just as she opened her mouth to speak the door slammed open.
"Enid, honey! I am…" the woman's eyes landed on Wednesday. She was an older version of Enid, still, something about her felt inherently different. "...home."
Wednesday snorted.
☆☆☆☆☆
Nhe not sure about the dialogue flow on this one. Also I'm sorry it's a bit shorter, I wanted to divide their conversation about their shaninigans and the dinner with the Sinclairs so the next will be like chapter 2 B kinda. Anywayysss. That's it for today thank you if you've read all that!!

for you, i'd watch paint dry OCxCanon week 2024 Day 7: "so... it's a date, then?" Pairing type: romantic Canon Character: Skyla (she/her) OC: Fern (she/her) Fandom: Pokemon Wordcount: 1776
AO3 link
CWS: mentions of hospitals & needles
Synopsis: Skyla finally has a day off from both her jobs. It's sorely needed; she loves her work, but she's wiped out! She's looking forward to a relaxing evening, and then a fun day-long date with her girlfriend, Fern. Though, Skyla has forgotten that Fern has a hospital appointment the same day as her day off.
Skyla stretched her arms high above her head as she kicked the front door of her apartment closed. She was so glad to be done with work today.
Sure, she loved flying. And she loved doing Gym stuff. But man, it was all tiring. And she was thrilled to finally have a day off from both of them tomorrow.
Not only that. But she could finally spend a whole day with her girlfriend! Fern was currently sitting on the couch in the living room, slippers kicked off onto the floor and legs pulled onto the cushion. She was reading something on a tablet, though she looked completely bored.
Skyla threw her bag and coat into the cubby by the front door, and walked into the lounge- where she then dramatically flopped onto the couch and lay her head on her girlfriend’s legs.
“Hiya, cutie. You come here often?” Skyla grinned, drawling her voice out to exaggerate how tired she was.
“Now and again,” Fern’s reply wasn’t as enthusiastic, or happy, as expected, so Skyla sat up.
“You good?” she asked, “What’s on your mind?”
Fern looked up from her tablet, “Oh. Nothing interesting. Just health stuff.”
Skyla raised her eyebrows.
“I’ve got my infusion appointment tomorrow.” Fern said, frowning, “It’s just… boring.”
It took Skyla a minute to remember what those were. Fern only needed that kind of appointment every two months or so, and they’d only been dating a year… and its infrequency led to it being not something they really discussed much at all. But she did remember, after a minute or two of thinking.
Well, some of it, at least.
“Afterwards, then… how about we go watch a movie or something? Or… go for a run… or a walk- or we could go bowling..? It’s my first day off in ages tomorrow, so I wanna treat you anyway!”
Fern smiled slightly, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes.
“I forgot about your day off.” She said quietly, “I’m sorry, Sky.”
“Why?”
“It takes like, four hours. And it’s an hour to drive to the hospital, and an hour back… That’s already six hours… four of them I’m spending with a needle in my arm and under fluorescent lights that give me a headache.” She turned off her tablet and looked away, shoulders dropped down in obvious guilt, “I just don’t think I’d be up for anything outside of a nap before or after that.”
Skyla practically felt herself deflate. So much for having a nice, super fun day off adventuring with her girlfriend. She stayed quiet on the couch, and said nothing as Fern walked out of the living room to see what they had in the kitchen for dinner.
And also, evidently, to avoid the fact that both of them were now feeling bad.
With a sigh, Skyla lay down on the sofa, and stared up at the ceiling. She couldn’t move her day off, and even if she could, she’d worked so hard today that the thought of going into work tomorrow was nauseating- no matter how much she enjoyed it.
But it wasn’t like Fern could move her appointment. So… what?
Skyla squeezed her eyes tightly shut to think for a minute.
Did they just accept that this was an irritating and unchangeable situation?
No. There must be some way for them to spend time together tomorrow.
Skyla picked herself up from the couch and resolutely walked into the kitchen, where Fern was reading the expiration date on a jar of pasta sauce.
“Should we just order pizza, d’you think?” Fern asked, “Or maybe Thai food? I don’t know if this is still good to eat…”
“It looks fine to me. Buuuut I could totes eat a Massaman curry… Mm.”
With not even a further glance to the jar of sauce before she shoved it back in the cupboard, Fern nodded. “Let’s do that. I’m craving tom yum soup already. Geez…”
She pulled out her cellphone to order the food- but Skyla quickly stopped her.
“I’ll pay.” She said, impulsively, “Also. Can we talk about tomorrow?”
Fern blinked, not really letting any expression through, which was most unusual, “Sure.”
And then she dialled their favourite Thai restaurant and placed an order for delivery.
Skyla sat down on one of the breakfast bar stools while Fern ordered, giving the occasional thumbs up whenever Fern asked about things like spice level or any appetisers or whatever. They practically always ordered the same things, so it was pretty easy to communicate the order silently as Fern spoke on the phone.
“Forty minutes,” Fern said as she snapped her flip-phone shut, “You should go get something more comfy on before then, hm?”
“Are you thinking… pyjama dinner and a movie?” Skyla asked, eyebrows raised.
“You bet. Go on. Go go go!” Skyla laughed as her girlfriend pushed her down the corridor toward the bedroom.
She took a quick shower, let her hair hang loose- still wet- and changed into her softest pyjamas. And then returned to the lounge with a blanket in hand, where Fern was once again curled up on the couch, looking at her tablet.
The thing was, showers were bizarrely good for thinking up ideas. And Skyla had one, now.
“Are people allowed to come with you to your appointment tomorrow?” she asked, as she sat down, and covered both of them with the blanket, “Like… a friend or a family member?”
“Oh. Yeah. One person, I think.” Fern nodded, and put the tablet away again, and reached to pet her patrat who was curled up on the armrest.
“Do you… normally bring anyone with you?” Skyla prompted after a moment.
“No. I’ve… always just gone alone.” Fern sighed, and pulled her patrat into her lap, “Why? Are you offering to come?”
“Yeah! I know you said it’s super boring and stuff, and the lights are gross, buuuuut…” she leaned onto her girlfriend’s shoulder, “Maybe I can help make that less boring! I can bring you an eye mask to shield you from the lights… and snacks… and I can give you massages…”
Fern snorted, “You’re not a masseuse.”
“Just an idea!” Skyla insisted, “I dunno, maybe it’d be a bit less boring if you had some company?”
She waited nervously as Fern thought in silence for a minute.
“Well… I mean… If you’d like to come…” Fern said quietly, with a tiny smile on her face, “It would be quite nice. It is really boring though.”
“That’s okay! I have plenty of gossip from work I can tell you… and play-by-plays of Gym battles… and you can tell me how it’s all going in Pinwheel Forest…” Skyla sighed happily and let herself fully lie down on Fern’s lap, biting back a laugh when Fern yelped in reaction to her hair being cold and damp, “Y’know. Hanging out. Moral support. And I can drive us home, so you can nap on the way back!”
“Sure. Okay.” Fern rolled her eyes, and pushed Skyla off her lap, “I appreciate it.”
“Yes!” Skyla exclaimed, as the doorbell rang, “So… it’s a date?!”
“The world’s most boring date ever, sure.” Fern said, getting to her feet.
“Still a date!” Skyla asserted, racing after her to the door.
“True.”
They paid for and received their food from the usual friendly delivery driver, and tipped him generously, as always, and then returned once more to the lounge- where they channel flicked until they found some trashy soap drama to watch, curled up together on the couch under a blanket, their pokemon lounging around the room as well, and eating some of their favourite foods.
Eventually, Fern fell asleep on Skyla’s shoulder, and she took the opportunity to quickly read up on the process of the infusion tomorrow. Where they’d have to go, what they were allowed to bring (Skyla made a list on the back of her hand of snacks and other stuff to pack before they set off), as well as the type of medicine Fern was getting (infliximab) and what sort of side effects it could have (the most common seemed to be nausea and headaches, so she also made a note to bring a heat pad and some painkillers. Not ibuprofen, since Fern couldn’t take those…) and also, she debated the possibility of sneaking off at some point to run to a store and buy Fern a gift… Would that be necessary? Would she think it was patronising? Maybe… It’d still be a nice gesture though, right?
It was already a lot to think through, and she wasn’t even the one needing the medicine. No wonder the whole process exhausted Fern so much, who was already more prone to fatigue due to the very condition she needed the medication for.
Still. Fern would be back to her normal, vibrant self in a couple of days. And if she wasn’t, well… Skyla wasn’t a quitter. She loved her girlfriend. That was that. If Fern was tired and sad for longer than usual, then Skyla would be there no matter what. And she’d do everything she could to make her feel even just a little better.
A date didn’t have to be a fancy meal or an eight-mile hike. It didn’t have to be bowling, or sports, or a walk on the beach. A date could be a nice evening in watching trashy TV, eating your favourite takeaway; a date could be an afternoon spent in a hospital room, braiding your girlfriend’s hair, and shielding her eyes from the harsh lights as she tried to nap away the hours with a needle in her arm.
For Fern, Skyla would spend a whole day doing the dullest paperwork ever if she had to. Fern, who would run a bath with floral bubbles for whenever Skyla said she’d had a rough day at work. Fern, who would personally beat the daylights out of anyone who was cruel toward pokemon. Fern, who felt her emotions at a hundred-and-twenty percent capacity all the time, and who listened intently whenever Skyla or someone else spoke, even if she didn’t care. Fern, who’s body was rebelling against her constantly and had to explain it to everyone she interacted with, and was so clearly exhausted by it all, but still kept going because she had no choice. Fern, who was asleep on Skyla’s shoulder, a tiny bit of sauce from her Pad Thai staining her cheek.
Skyla put her arm around her girlfriend and squeezed her with a hug.
She had always hated sitting still. But it wasn’t so bad with the woman she loved at her side.
Not at all, actually.

11:02 PM
I decided I need to get out of my slump I've been in lately. I may feel angry and depressed and very apathetic right now, but that doesn't mean I should sit and wallow in my own self-pity. It's not a good place to go, and I know that. I know better than doing what I have been, which is absolutely nothing. So today, I woke up, and had one cup of coffee (I've decided I'm going to attempt and cut my caffeine intact way way down). Talked with mom for a while, which is odd but was nice. Usually, we don't talk more than five minutes at a time. It almost always turns into a fight between the two of us, but right now, out of the three of us (my two younger brothers), somehow the felon with a really bad attitude is being the most responsible. I mean, it only took me 35 years to get here, but I'm actually doing pretty good, and I need to remind myself of that. I have come so far from where I was, even four years ago. Hell, even last year. And it's not arrogant to remind yourself of that every so often.
Anyway, I showered and finally bleached half my head. I took extra care in washing and cleaning and just making myself look like a person again. I think I read somewhere that that's supposed to help. I don't know if it actually does, but it kept me occupied for a while.
I got to work at 2, which is usual for Friday's. It gives me about an hour of alone time where I can just belt along to my music and get the prep for the night down. Honestly, being alone back there is my favorite part of part of my job. The closest I've ever come to a religious experience was back there. It was right when I got work release during my time in jail. I had sat six months already, and for the last three months I was allowed to have work release. And the first night I came back, I was alone for three hours before open. I listened to music for the first time in six months, and I cried like a baby and screamed along to Amigo The Devil's Stronger Than Dead while dicing tomatoes. It's an experience I will never forget. That song holds such a deep importance in my life (it's part of my next round of tattoos, my only hand tattoo is going to be Amigo's 'pineapple' logo with the chorus of that song). Only two songs I've ever heard can I say truly saved my life. Stronger than Dead and Frank Turner's The Ballad of Me And My Friends. Different reasons, but the end result was the same for both and I didn't listen to the impulses and bury a bullet in my brain. And I still listen to both songs, religiously. At least once or twice a day.
Sorry. I keep getting off track. Sherry came in around 3 and started putting together the salad bar. That's her one thing she has to set up for Fridays and she never complains about it. I always tell her I do nothing with the salad bar, that it's all on her. It used to be just a trick I learned a long time ago on how to deal with less then stellar staff. Give them something that is all their own. It give them a feeling of control, and let's face it, I hate putting our salad bar together. I don't like salad bars in general. They are extremely gross on the kitchen's side of things.
It wasn't exactly busy tonight, but it wasn't exactly slow. Just kind of real steady, plodding forward pace. And Sherry did alright, by her standards. We shut down, and when I left after doing all my closing work, Sherry only had to finish up her dishes. Usually she just leaves the extra for tomorrow, when she opens.
I did start getting a pretty massive headache around 7 though. I'm pretty sure that's just the withdrawal from caffeine. At least that's what it felt like. I'd get them a lot in jail when we'd run out of coffee. It's all we drank all day, that instant add hot water crap, and when we'd run out before commissary made it's way, everyone was in hell. Ibuprofen costs 75 cents for two pills. The price mark up is insane, which I really don't think is all that fair. I get having some cost added, this is jail after all and it's not supposed to be fun. But when a package of Ramen ends up costing close to two dollars, that is a little passed a punishment. That's an outrageous kind of extortion.
Back to what I was saying, I got out of work around 9:30 and got my cab ride home. When I got home, I had yet another actual conversation with my mom, finally got some Advil in me and showered. The bathroom still smelled like the bleach I did my hair with. And finally, I took my handful of pills and turned on Malcolm In The Middle. I've only got a few episodes to go before I move on to whatever the next mindless background noise I put on. I'll write and work with phrases for a little bit and read. I restarted reading my favorite book, The Great And Secret Show by Clive Barker.
For being as bitchy and moody as I have been the last few days, I think I did okay today.

the ballerina, the freak and the king | 3
the lack of sleep always caused headaches. Or maybe it was after the creature bit you that you got them. Either way you’ve been having them for quite some time now. You know not to take too many pain killers in the span of four to six hours.
The morning after Eddie Munson tricked you with a baggie filled with margarine or melted butter, you made it you personal mission to find him and tell him off. It was cruel but you were angry. Well it’s not really morning but early afternoon, but still.
You ate breakfast angrily. You showered angrily. Brushed your teeth so hard you might need to go to the dentist to see the damage you’ve done. You decide against the high bun today out of fear for your hair and your forehead.
First you needed to return that damn video.
You load up all you needed in your bag. Keys, wallet, the video box with the video inside, and most importantly your walkman for the long walk ahead of you. You walked most places because it was Hawkins, it wasn’t like something would be missed if you didn’t.
With your headphones over your ears you played your tape. It was Abba. You would have picked something more rock but you figured you were already pumped up and angry. You didn’t need to add to that. Abba would help you calm down a bit.
At least before you saw Eddie.
The walk to the video store is not too long. You don’t live too far from it which is a benefit. You arrive on the seventh track of the tape. You hit pause and walk inside.
Return the video. Leave the store. Find Eddie.
There at the front desk is not Robin like you expected. No one was at the desk actually. Well she can’t work all the time you think to yourself. Still you stomp on. You hit the bell once. You weren’t about to make everyone else’s lives a living hell. You know how bad a costumer service job is.
It takes a bit but from the back someone calls out that they’ll be with you. You decide to take out the tape from your bag and put it on the desk. When you do, the privacy curtain slides open.
Steve Harrington, with his head looking down at a box in his hands, starts walking towards you.
“Welcome to Family Video can I-”
He looks up at you. You’re not sure why. But he continues to do so until you remove your headphones, pushing them down and resting them on your neck.
“Are you okay?” you ask.
He gulps once and then nods, “yeah sorry. How can I help you?”
You push the tape further over to him. He looks down at it. And then back at you. He does this two more times like he can't believe you would rent Star Wars. You think to yourself that this isn’t even the nerdiest thing you’ve rented from here. He doesn’t seem to know that.
“Right, can I get your name?” he asks.
You give it to him. He then punches it into the computer. You watch as his eyes scan over the list and they flutter over to you quickly.
“I’m not late. I just got it yesterday.” you say.
“I know. I see it.” he says.
He begins typing something else and your mind wonders back to the baggie of butter that is probably emptied on your carpeted room. Your parents will kill you if they see it, or smell it.
“Do you know if butter leaves a smell?” you ask.
At that Steve looks up at you confused. His eyebrows furrow in the middle. You realize that you didn’t meant to ask that out loud, or even ask without context first. But you did anyway.
“Sorry, I’m just thinking out loud.” you say.
“No problem,” he picks up the tape and scans it, “and you’re all set.”
You’re walking over to the door, pulling up your headphones as you do when you hear him call out to you. You look over your shoulder at him.
“Baking Soda should take it out. The butter.” he says.
“Thanks.” you say.
You’re about two feet out the door when it hits you. You don’t know where Eddie lives. And it’s actually most likely he’s in school right now. You didn’t wan to go there and cause a scene. Too many people.
So you turn around and head back inside. You march over to Steve at the desk who looks even more confused if that was possible and a bit of something else that you can’t name yet.
“There’s a kid, Dustin that came in here yesterday. Does he come here often?” you ask.
Steve nods his head, “Yeah, I know him.”
“Even better, can you tell him that Eddie’s a little shit bag?”
“Eddie his friend, Eddie?”
“Yeah him.”
“Okay. I can pass that along.”
“Thank you.”
And with no more words you actually leave the family video store. You put your headphones back on and decide on walking home. Somewhere between track five and track seven your anger really dissipated.
Or really what set in was the fact you could be associated with him. And that news could get back to your parents. You would be in serious trouble.
The walk home is long. And you speed past the section of the woods out of fear, like always. When you get home you lock the door behind you and try to stop your heart from beating out of your chest.
It only works when you sit in your room with the door locked and your arms wrapped around a pillow. In the silence you try to place yourself someplace safe. Or not your actual body, because it is safe, but your mind.
Your mind has been in those woods since the attack.
In the midst of trying to clam yourself you fall asleep. It’s more of a cat nap. But it is much needed sleep. The only reason you wake up is because of the phone ringing in the living room.
You make a mad dash to unlock your door, run to the living room and answer before the ringing stops. You are successful and pick it up on the last ring.
“Hello?” you ask into the receiver.
“Hey Honey, It’s Mrs.Sinclair.”
“Oh, hello Mrs.Sinclair. How are you?”
“I’m good. How are you?”
“I’ve been better. You know.”
“Yeah I heard that you were looking for a job. And while I don’t have stay employment to offer you right now I do have something for tonight.”
“Yeah?” “How would you like to babysit Erica?”
“I could do that.”
“Great, because me and my husband are going out and Lucas has a game so we’re in a bit of a bind.”
“Yeah it’s not a problem Mrs.Sinclair. I can watch Erica tonight.”
“Thanks again honey. And I”ll pay you for such short notice.”
