The Playgirl (ft. LOONA's Yves) [Part 2] [Female Reader]
---------------
Hello! I'm back with part 2!
Futa!Yves x Fem Reader, just in case ya forgot.
If you prefer, this is also on AO3 and AFF!
---------------
Yves shows up on time for tutoring, to your surprise.
"Hey baby."
"Don't 'baby' me."
"Sure. Let's start."
"Alright. Open up the textbook. We're starting from the basics. I've printed out some of the prerequisites for this topic, since what you did last time wasn't up to standard due to lack of practice of the basics. Now…"
Yves listens attentively. In fact, things go a bit too smoothly for the both of you. Yves doesn't make any cheeky quip, pull out any pet names, or flirt with anyone that passes by. The womanizing playgirl you knew disappears, and in its place is a focused, dedicated young woman. Sometimes, you even find yourself staring at her work on the problems in front of her. The change is… welcome, to say the least.
Your eyes roam Yves's styled hair, swiped back to expose her forehead, down to her beautiful large eyes, button nose, and full lips.
God, you're gay. Sure, you're literally admiring the beauty of the most insufferable bane of the universe, but you're just so fucking gay and hot people are hot, no matter how irritating they are, so...
When your eyes shift back up, you're met with Yves's smirk.
"See something you like, babe?"
Fuck.
"N-no."
"Liar."
"Fuck off." You rush to change the subject. "How're you doing?"
"I've been done for a while. You would know if you weren't spending the time looking at me."
You refuse to dignify her with a response, checking through the solved problems. With your coaching, Yves manages to get two more questions correct as compared to last time, but she still makes some simple mistakes.
"Okay, here's the issue. In question two…"
---------------
Yves continues to show up for every tutoring session. Somehow, a week passes by, and it is now Friday.
"Good afternoon, babygirl."
"Don't 'babygirl' me. How many times do I have to say it?"
"Mm, whatever. How're you doing?"
"Why do you care?"
Yves pulls out the chair next to you, leaning back on it, resting her legs on the table. She turns to you, grinning.
"Of course I'd care! You're my tutor, and if you don't feel good, you won't be able to teach me properly. If I don't get taught, I won't learn, then I'll fail, and I don't get to win. You know that I always win."
"I'm not sleeping with you."
"That's what you say, but not what you mean."
"Fuck you."
"That's what you'll be doing in five months' time."
"No I won't. Bring out the Calc textbook. We're going through Chapter 4 today."
"Alright, babygirl."
----------------
The change in Yves becomes apparent when she somehow is present earlier than you on Monday morning.
"Yves?"
"Oh, hey babe."
You sigh at the pet name, but having heard her call you that for quite some time now, it doesn't grind your gears as much anymore.
"Don't 'babe' me."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
Yves returns her attention to the papers she is working on, and the familiar math problems catch your eye.
"Calc?"
"Yeah. I promised I'll be the best student. Here I am."
"We'll see about that."
"You're looking at it right now." Yves rises from her chair, and in a flash, she has her arm around your waist, her face inches from yours. "I'm going to win, babygirl."
"G-Get off me!" Your face reddens instantly at the close proximity of your lips to hers. Memories of the chaste kiss Yves planted take front and center stage, and you can't help but look away from Yves.
"You're so pretty."
Yves has her gaze locked on your lips, then to your eyes. She is so close, too close, even. Heat flashes all over your body—every touch Yves leaves on you seems to burn.
"I mean it. You're gorgeous."
"T-Thank you."
The smug smirk never leaves Yves's face. She releases you from her smoldering gaze and grip, but she leaves you with a rapidly beating heart and a large distraction for the day to come.
When class begins, Yves tries to take the time to listen to the professor. However, she is soon back to her old ways, flicking paper balls at classmates and being on her phone more than she listens.
"Yves."
"Yeah, baby?" She meets your gaze, her tongue darting out to moisten her dry lips. Her hands carry on working on moulding another tiny paper ball.
"You're not listening."
"I am!"
"What was the last thing the prof said?"
"Um…"
You roll your eyes.
"Best student, my ass."
"I made that promise to you, not to him."
"You won't learn if you don't listen to him either. How're you going to be the best if you can't even do that?"
"Oh, so that's how it is?"
"That's right." You think hard about the words you want to say next, but maybe… maybe it is worth the risk. After all, Yves is still the bane of your existence, but she could be less of that if she keeps up her effort in trying to learn.
"You don't get to fuck me if you're not the best."
You watch as Yves freezes. She stares at you, her jaw hanging, before she steels her gaze to your eyes, staring deep into your soul.
"So this is how you wanna play, babygirl?"
"Yeah." You can feel your bravado slowly disappearing.
"Fine. I'll listen. I'll play by your rules."
Yves leans to your ear, her breath sending shivers down your spine. Her deep whisper makes you shudder.
"You will be mine at the end of the year, baby. I promise you: I'll ace my exams, and you'll love me for it."
Perhaps provoking your seatmate wasn't the best idea. Now you have to deal with the deep flush on your face and neck, as well as the heat between your legs.
---------------
A month passes.
Every week, the same things go by—tutoring, classes, more tutoring, more classes. However, what changes is how close you and Yves get with each other. By no means were the both of you friends, but she isn't as much of a thorn in your side anymore.
[yves💘 sent a message:]
Baby
I need a bit more help with the math from the last chapter.
Can I see you this weekend?
Saturday, 10am, Seoul U entrance?
[You sent a message:]
Sure.
I'll see you.
[yves💘 sent a message:]
Good.
Dress nicely, baby. It's a date.
[You sent a message:]
Fuck off.
You groan when Yves manages to charm you through text. Outfit ideas are already flowing through your head, and you sink your face into the comfort of your palms. Why do you even care about looking pretty for Yves?⁶
Well… that genuine grin she flashed after a muffled gasp of surprise when you wore a dress once in the past month was gorgeous on her. That was why.
You remember Yves actually having the slightest hint of a blush when looking at you, and she seemed to be a little less flirty that day, opting to take short glances at you when she thought you weren't watching. This newfound attention was… welcome. You couldn't deny feeling shy having Yves check you out. After all, you were just the nerd girl in class, and having this attention from a hot girl you could consider a crush not as much of a pain in your ass felt so good.
-----
Saturday arrives, and here you are, waiting outside Seoul University.
You choose to keep things simple: just a simple button-down dress with daisies printed on the fabric. Your hair is tied up in a cute bun. The pink backpack you carry completes the look, with a nice pair of flats.
The sun isn't too bright, and a cool breeze keeps you comfortable while waiting. You can't help but get nervous, though you know it is irrational to feel so. After all, this is just another study session. However, Yves's text to you earlier in the week keeps flashing across your eyes.
'Dress nicely, baby. It's a date.'
You know this is just a study session. However, a part of you dimly wishes that it isn't, before you hurriedly bash those thoughts with a hammer and then set them on fire.
The revving of a motorbike catches your attention before it zooms down the road. You can see the bike move across the lanes, then slowing to a stop in front of you. The rider, clad in all black leather, complete with jacket and boots, seems to freeze in front of you, before slowly drawing the helmet off their head.
"Hey, babygirl."
Yves grins at you, her eyes sweeping over your body. Her gaze lands on your legs, moving up to your torso, your chest, and then to your eyes and hair.
The next words she mutters are meant to be kept to herself, but you hear her anyway.
"Fuck, you're gorgeous."
Your heart takes off, pounding against your chest. You try to hide the flush on your face by staring at the ground, but you field a gaze to Yves, who looks a bit like a deer caught in headlights. She looks so handsome, so cool, and downright fucking hot at the same time.
Hmm… What would it feel like being pinned under her again?
The intrusive thought you have gets stamped out instantly, but the effect lingers—you can't help but check Yves out, feeling a rush of heat deep within your loins.
Her agreement with you was starting to look more and more appealing. Maybe you do have to teach her well.
"Get on."
"What?"
"Let's go. I gotta park the bike, and the cafe isn't close by. Get on."
Yves hands you a spare black helmet, and you hesitantly take it.
"Don't kill me."
"I won't." She grins. "I like you too much to think about doing that."
Your breath catches in your throat. It's not uncharacteristic of her to say things like that so easily, but maybe… just maybe… you want her to mean it.
You get onto the bike as Yves holds it steady. You don't know where to put your hands, but Yves grabs your arms, pulling them to wrap around her waist.
"Hold on tight, babygirl."
"Okay." You can't believe what's happening right now.
"I'm gonna go."
The engine revs.
-----
Yves trails behind you as both of you make your way to the cafe. Yves is quiet along the way, unlike her usual flirting if she caught you staring at her. When you glance back to her, you see her eyes dart away from you, staring at the floor as she swipes her hair back.
Weird.
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Oh, yeah. Never been better, baby." Her reply is unconvincing, especially with a forced grin, but you don't want to really push her for a reply.
"Er… Okay. Sure."
Both of you make your way into the cafe, stopping by the counter to grab the menu. When you sit down at a table, Yves sits across you, her eyes locked onto you as you peruse your options.
"You're staring a lot today, Yves."
"Oh, um, er…" She looks away, her voice soft. This is very unlike her.
"Are you really okay?"
"Yeah, baby. I'm feelin' great, ready to learn, and get good." She leans back, resting her hands on the armrests of her chair.
Oh.
She has a crop top on.
Oh my fucking God, she has abs.
You short circuit.
Two columns of defined muscle greet your eyes, as if to mock you. It wasn't like she was someone you didn't find hot. Now, you have to find out that she also has abs?!
Your mouth dries instantly, and you grab your bottle, taking a swig. The cool liquid quenches your physical thirst, but your mental thirst…
"Don't look too much, babygirl. You might get hypnotized."
Yves tilts your chin up with a finger, moving to lean close to your face.
"My eyes are up here."
Holy fucking shit, she's so fucking hot.
You wonder how you didn't notice them when she had that fishnet and crop top combo. Maybe her pants covered them, maybe you were blinded in your dislike for her. Whatever, you've seen them now. No reason to stop… respectfully staring, especially when you can.
"Look at me."
You meet Yves's smoldering gaze.
"Keep your eyes up here, babygirl." Her warm breath against your lips makes you yearn to lean in and close the gap. "I don't want them anywhere else when they're so beautiful."
You whimper involuntarily, and Yves chuckles.
"You're so fucking pretty, you know that?"
The shame that burns when you squeak and break your gaze to hide in the pretense of reading the menu is something you don't want to admit that you feel coursing through your veins, but it's there. When you lower the menu, Yves has her chin in her palm, her head tilted to the left, a satisfied grin on her features.
"I mean it, baby. You look really pretty today."
"T-Thank you."
"You're welcome. Let's order, I'm starving."
"Okay."
"Oh." Yves leans towards you, lowering the menu to stare into your eyes once more. "You'll get to see what you want to see when I ace the exams. Be patient, babe."
You groan.
-----
That night, you toss and turn on the bed incessantly. Every time you close your eyes, you can feel hot breath across your lips, smell the scent emanating off Yves, and sense her burning gaze on you. Yves's handsome features are burnt deep into your head, and just the thought of her sends your heart pounding and temperature rising.
You think of her abs under her clothes, the defined muscle jumping out to your eyes. She already looks so good, so delicious, and yet, things only go up from here.
The rush of heat between your legs doesn't help things.
You turn again, ignoring your basest desires. Bedtime it is.

If You Went Away - pt. 6
A/N: Here’s part 6 of If You Went Away! Thank you for the encouraging messages <3 This fic might only have one or two more parts, but I have other exciting things planned!
Other parts here: part 1 // part 2 // part 3 // part 4 // part 5
-------
(present day)
“You look….cheerful?” Maggie gives Amelia a once over as the brunette walks into the attendings lounge.
Amelia squints back at her as she reaches for her purse and starts changing out of her scrubs. “I don’t know if cheerful is the right word, Maggie.”
“Okay….happier than usual as of late?”
Amelia smirks as she pulls her jacket on, then sits down to zip up her boots. She hadn’t realized her current emotional state was such a topic of conversation, or even observation.
“Scout’s got his last check up with Nico today. Right now, actually. So I’m out of here early.” She relaxes back into the seat.
“Oh? And where’s Link?” Maggie questions, sitting at the table across from Amelia.
“He’s in surgery. So it’s just me,” Amelia explains. “But, we’re just….excited he doesn’t have to have his arm wrapped up in that sling anymore. Especially for this weekend.”
“What’s this weekend?” Maggie’s eyebrows pull together in confusion and she watches as Amelia huffs out an exasperated sigh.
“Link’s parents' wedding….” Amelia mutters under her breath. If her outlook seemed cheerful when she walked into the room, it was definitely dwindling now.
“Oh my god, I totally forgot about that! I thought that already happened?”
“I wish,” Amelia breathes. “They started planning this years ago. But then, ya know, the whole pandemic….and some other stuff got in the way….but that’s all over now and they’re finally ready, I guess. And so….yeah, that’s happening this weekend….” She trails off, zoning out as she thinks about the event ahead.
There’s brief silence as Maggie watches her sister’s anxiety overcome her previously lighthearted disposition.
“How’s Link feeling about all of this?”
“Ha,” Amelia laughs sarcastically. “Not great. He still feels pretty….betrayed? By his parents? Maybe that’s the feeling?”
“Hm.” Maggie hums, digesting the information and slowly coming to terms with another realization about the situation.
“His parents put him through a lot,” Amelia explains, becoming more animated as she continues. “But I just keep trying to tell him not to take it so harshly....You know? I mean….they found their way back to each other after all this time. Why is that so bad?”
“Hmmmm,” Maggie hums again, drawing the sound out a bit more. She smirks, scanning Amelia’s face like she’s onto something.
“I mean, it’s kind of inspiring, right?”
Maggie pauses for a moment, deciding her next words. “Let me get this straight….you find it inspiring?”
Amelia shrugs, still not catching onto Maggie’s perception of her words.
“You find it inspiring….that two people can make their way back to each other after….certain difficulties?” Maggie smirks.
And Amelia frowns, the comprehension of Maggie’s attempt at an analogy settles in.
Maggie watches as Amelia’s face goes blank with realization. But then the brunette is standing up suddenly, pushing away from the table.
“Maggie no!” She throws her bag over her shoulder, getting ready to leave. “That’s not….no. That’s not what I’m saying. You’re putting words in my mouth.”
“Hey,” Maggie smiles as she folds her arms across her chest, watching Amelia as she hurries towards the door. “You’re the one that said it. I’m just putting two and two together.”
Amelia turns around once more before reaching the door, but Maggie’s smug look causes her to roll her eyes. She pushes through the door, letting it slam shut harshly.
_______
The following day Amelia runs around the house anxiously, trying to make sure everyone is ready for the wedding.
“Scout!” She yells from the kitchen as Scout sits with his eyes glued to the TV. “Come on, time to get ready!”
After some convincing, Scout finally follows his mother up the stairs and into his bedroom.
“You can go back and watch your show once you get dressed, okay?” Amelia walks to the closet, pulling out a tiny suit jacket and matching pants. She smiles to herself as she pulls the garments from the hanger, running her hands over the fabric before laying them across Scout’s bed.
“Why do I have to wear that?” Scout whines.
“Because weddings are like fancy parties,” Amelia smiles as she crouches down to help Scout into his wedding attire.
Scout frowns, adjusting to the uncomfortable suit jacket that his arms have just been guided into.
“Why are Grandma and Grandpa having a wedding? Are they already husband and wife?”
“Well….” Amelia bites her lip. Mentally sighing at just how smart Scout can be sometimes.
“You can do a wedding as many times as you want?” He questions, squinting up at Amelia.
“Uh, yeah….” She slightly frowns at the accuracy of his question. It was an easier explanation than the reality. “Yeah, you can.”
“You and daddy aren’t married.” Scout says matter-of-factly.
“Um, no,” Amelia mutters as she begins helping Scout into his dress shoes. Her pulse quickens at the direction this conversation is taking.
“Why not?”
Amelia sighs, out loud this time. She hears the shower turn off in the next room and knows that Link is probably finishing up getting ready, while she remains completely unready.
“We just aren’t….” She offers shortly, standing up once she’s satisfied with how Scout’s outfit comes together. “Not everybody gets married.”
Scout looks up at her curiously. “But you said you can have as many weddings as you want. I think you and daddy should have a lotta weddings!”
Amelia can’t help but to laugh at this.
“Okay, buddy,” She grins down at him. “Let’s see how you like this wedding, first.”
“Can I go finish my show now?”
Amelia nods, and Scout takes off down the stairs while Amelia heads to get ready herself.
_______
45 minutes later and Amelia has her dress and heels on. She’s done her hair in soft waves and she’s just finishing up the final touches of her makeup when Link enters the bedroom, walking past the adjoining bathroom, Amelia hears him softly gasp.
She pauses her lipstick application, glancing at Link through the bathroom mirror. She raises her eyebrows at him.
“You look….” Link stutters, scratching at the back of his neck anxiously. “The dress…..the blue is a really nice color on you. You look really nice.” He shrugs, dropping his hands to the side.
Amelia suppresses a blush. It was a dress she’d worn to Alex and Jo’s wedding years ago. She was relieved at the chance to re-wear it, since nobody she knew would be at this wedding, or know she was recycling it for the occasion. She was just happy to not have to purchase another dress.
“Thank you,” She smiles slightly, resuming her task in the mirror. “So do you.” Her eyes dart back to him briefly. “I’m almost ready.”
“No rush.”
“Well, I don’t want to be late. So….there’s kind of a rush.” She laughs under her breath. “You’re just not excited about this at all, are you?”
Link sighs as he sits on the edge of the bed, still in Amelia’s line of sight through the mirror. He shakes his head. “No….but, starting now, I’m going to be positive about this.”
“Hey,” she mutters, starting to put away her makeup products. “I’m nervous, too.”
“Hm?” Link looks up at her as she re-enters the bedroom.
“I’m nervous to be around your family….I don’t know,” she mutters anxiously, reaching for her coat and purse. “They have no idea we were even….apart….” she cuts herself off from going in that direction. “They just don’t know me very well.”
Link nods. Knowing there is so much more to it. So much more that Amelia didn’t say.
“Let’s just make the best of it tonight,” He offers.
And Amelia nods in agreement.
_______
After a short ceremony in which Amelia and Link struggle to keep Scout settled in his seat and non-disruptive, they are completely relieved to have moved on to the reception part of the night.
They smile their way through introductions and explanations. And Amelia grits her teeth at the repetitive questions from distant family members.
‘How long have you guys been together?’
‘So nice of you to finally bring Scout around!’
‘What are your plans for the future?’
Amelia holds back her discomfort. And holds a tight smile. The only thing anchoring her being the equal dismay on Link’s part. The impatient tightness in his voice as he answers the same questions over and over weirdly brings her comfort. Just to know that she’s not the only one feeling totally out of place here.
The question that sets her off the most though, comes from Link’s uncle. But, when Link is asked whether or not he’s ‘being courted by the Mariners for another contract this upcoming season,’ Link reaches over and squeezes Amelia’s shoulders assuringly.
She sighs in relief at the vagueness of his answer.
“We like to take things one step at a time.”
And Amelia turns away from Link’s uncle, gazing up at Link, surprised by the feeling that swells in her chest.
_______
As the night continues, the energy becomes much less stressful. Although Link was very much not looking forward to this event, the energy of the room is having an effect on him. His relatives are dancing and talking and celebrating. It’s an overall joyful atmosphere. And Link is relieved. Relieved to be not so burdened by his initial distaste at the idea of this wedding in the first place.
Link smiles as he glances across the room. He watches as Amelia pulls Scout onto the dance floor, reaching forward for his little arms. She bends slightly as she twirls him around, Scout in a fit of giggles.
Link watches the two of them for a few more minutes, until the fast-paced song switches over to a slower one. There’s a round of cheers from family members and friends as the atmosphere changes and couples begin arranging themselves for a slow dance.
The next thing he knows, Link is crossing the dance floor himself.
“May I cut in?” He asks as he approaches, looking pointedly at Scout, his tone playful.
Scout glances between his parents as Amelia drops his hands. He looks around the room at the couples swaying slowly, then he’s nodding excitedly as he turns back to his parents.
“I can take him over to where some of the other kids are playing,” one of Link’s family friends chimes in suddenly and Link smiles, nodding a thank you as Scout runs off to be with the other kids.
Then they are alone. Just the two of them surrounded by other couples.
“Dance with me?” Link reaches a hand out to Amelia.
And she hesitates only briefly before taking it. Her pulse quickens out of nowhere and she tries to suppress the feeling that grows, the feeling that’s reminding her of every high school dance ever. Because she isn’t in high school. And this isn’t some high school crush. This is Link. The father of her child. And this is his parent’s wedding.
His hand clasps around hers, pulling her forward, and his other arm settles around her waist. Amelia’s free arm automatically rests over his, her hand coming down to rest against his shoulder.
There’s still a slight distance between them, the uncertainty of their positioning quite evident. Until Link pulls her even closer, so that she’s putting more of her weight against his chest. Amelia suppresses a gasp, looking briefly between his eyes. Before the eye contact becomes too much and she glances past him, over his shoulder instead.
“So,” Link murmurs, allowing her eyes to drift away from him. “Tonight wasn’t so bad.”
“Mhm,” she hums in agreement, her eyes settling on Link’s parents behind them. “Your parents are cute.”
Link shifts them around, so he can have a better view of his parents in the center of the dance floor.
“It took them a while to get to the cute stage, in my opinion,” Link looks back down at Amelia. He still towers over her, even when she’s wearing heels and it makes Link smile. Amelia laughs at his words, rolling her eyes.
“You’re always going to hold it against them, huh?”
Link shakes his head, like he’s deciding something. “No….no I won’t. I can be happy for them.”
Amelia nods up at him, and holds eye contact. She adjusts herself, letting her arm slide up further, resting around the back of his neck.
“This was fun. Scout had fun.”
“He did,” Link murmurs, letting his hand begin circling a repetitive pattern across her lower back.
Link notices the song change. Back to an upbeat tune, not so much fit for a slow dance. But it seems to take Amelia a moment to catch on. Because before she’s noticed the beat change, her head drops momentarily to rest against Link’s chest. They’re still swaying back and forth slowly, as if the song hasn’t changed.
But then the DJ makes an announcement, something about requests for other songs. And Amelia shakes from her reverie. Stepping out of Link’s embrace, she takes in the atmosphere of the increasingly crowded dance floor.
“We should probably find Scout,” she mutters, eyes scanning the room.
Link follows after her as she begins crossing the room. They approach the kid’s table to see Scout sitting with his head resting down in front of him. He’s surrounded by other kids but he’s fighting off sleep with his head resting against his arms on the table.
“Think we should call it a night?” Link mutters, and Amelia nods, gently stepping forward to wake Scout up.
_______
Link hears light snoring as he drives them home. He glances in the rearview mirror, to the backseat, and smiles to himself at the sight of both Amelia and Scout sound asleep. She’d insisted on sitting back there with him for the drive home. Link shakes his head now, realizing it was probably because there was more room back there for her to drift off, too.
The car pulls into the driveway and Link turns the engine off, stepping out and around to Scout’s side of the car. He opens the door gently, not wanting to wake him up. He lifts Scout as carefully as possible, and that’s when Amelia stirs. She sits up suddenly, eyes darting around in confusion.
“Hey,” Link whispers. “I’m going to carry him up. You should head to bed, too.”
Amelia nods, realizing her surroundings. She climbs out of the car, following after Link and Scout inside.
_______
Amelia takes a makeup wipe to her eyes as she rests tiredly against the bathroom counter. She blinks sleepily despite herself, but would never go to bed without taking her makeup off first.
Link huffs as he enters the bedroom, glancing at Amelia through the open bathroom door before sitting on the edge of the bed to slip his shoes off. “He is not as light as he used to be,” he laughs, referring to carrying Scout to bed.
“Mhm,” Amelia hums, “He’s growing up so fast.”
Link disappears from Amelia’s line of sight, entering the closet to hang his suit jacket and slip on some sweatpants. He collapses into bed shortly after while Amelia finishes getting ready for bed.
She’s still wearing her dress as she heads to the closet and Link’s voice causes her to pause for a second. “You should wear that dress more,” He mumbles sleepily.
And Amelia rolls her eyes, holding back a smirk, as she enters the closet to change.
She appears a moment later, dressed for bed. Her equally exhausted state leads her to collapse onto her side of the bed in similar fashion to Link.
“I’m serious,” Link mutters. Amelia turns her head to the side, noticing how his eyes remain closed. She’s relieved that he can’t see her sheepish expression.
“I want to start over, Amelia.” His eyes open now, searching for hers. And Amelia swallows her nerves. “I want to take you on a date.”
She laughs. Because this is not what she was expecting.
“What?” She mumbles through her uncertain laugh.
“And I want you to wear that dress.” He sounds like he’s fighting off sleep again and Amelia finds herself hesitant to agree to him while they’re both so exhausted. Hesitant because she doesn’t know how much he means it.
“You don’t have to answer me right now,” Link continues, muttering into his pillow a bit as he settles onto his side, eyes closing again. “But promise me you’ll think about it?”
Amelia breathes a sigh, biting her lip as she glances at Link’s resting face.
“Okay,” she whispers. And then lets her own eyes shut, too.

I Know you like Polnareff alot so I'll request one .. can I get a Polnareff oneshot where the reader is part of the crew and knows french so she flirts with Pol. And no one else has a clue what's going on?
I used google translate for the French so R.I.P. to the accuracy. I’ll put what I was trying to say in brackets, however, and if anyone who actually speaks French wants to correct me they are more than welcome. Also this uhh... this is one of the longest things I’ve written in a while. Did someone say comfort character?
As soon as the frenchman spotted you getting off the bus, he flashed you a wide smile. It’d been a while since he’d last seen you, but he’d recognize your features anywhere.
The other crusaders looked on, waiting to see who the special person Pol called in to help was. All he said was that you were an old friend.
Your boots moved against the concrete elegantly as you tucked a stray hair out of your face. The light blouse and sleek pants you wore complimented your figure nicely.
You waved, blowing Pol a kiss when you spotted him. “Bonjour,” you said, the French rolling off your tongue as though it was your first language.
Polnareff opened his arms for a hug but you just clicked your tongue. “Oh, no. I’m still mad at you, Jean. Now, why did you make me come all the way out here? Where even is here? What country is this?” you shook your head. “God, it’s been such a long trip.”
You noticed Pol’s companions and shook hands with each, introducing yourself as you did so.
“So, you’re the old friend Polnareff has been mentioning,” the man who introduced himself as Avdol prompted.
You nodded. “Something like that. But I still don’t know why I’m here.” Joseph piped up. “We’re trying to defeat an enemy that goes way back. Polnareff said you could assist us.”
You glared at the silver-haired man who was currently distracting himself with his nails. “Oh, he just assumed I would, huh?” you huffed. “Well, I’m already here so I might as well.”
That was the start of your inclusion as part of the crusaders. As time went on, you got to know the others more, befriending them as best as you could. You still gave Jean the cold shoulder, however. The others weren’t sure why, but Jean knew what he did wrong. That’s for damn sure.
The others found out, eventually, though; over a dinner, in fact.
You sat next to Avdol, chatting about nothing in particular. Pol directly across from you, simply pouting.
Joseph looked between the two of you. “So, uhh, what’s your past together, really? I know you said not to bring it up but if we’re to defeat Dio together we should get along. All of us. And that means fixing whatever shit Polnareff did to make you mad at him.”
“Moi? Why do you assume it was ME that did something?” Polnareff spoke up, crossing his arms.
“Because it was you,” was your reply as you took a sip of your beverage.
His face flushed. “That was a long time ago.”
You glared at him. “But you never apologized.”
“Es-tu sérieux? Qu'ai-je fait de mal? [Are you serious? What did I do wrong?]”
“Tu veux vraiment y aller? Tu n'as même jamais dit au revoir! J'avais dix-huit ans à l'époque! Vous êtes parti sans un mot et je ne savais pas où vous étiez et vous m'appelez soudainement de nulle part et vous attendez à ce que je voyage des centaines de kilomètres pour vous aider? [Do you really wanna go there? You never even said goodbye! I was eighteen at the time! You left without a word and I didn't know where you were and then you suddenly call me up out of nowhere and expect me to travel hundreds of kilometers to help you?]”
“J'avais dix-huit ans aussi, au cas où tu aurais oublié! J'étais un enfant stupide! Tu étais mon ... tu sais ce que tu étais pour moi! Je ne voulais pas tout gâcher! [I was eighteen too, in case you forgot! I was a stupid kid! You were my... you know what you were to me! I didn't want to mess it up!]”
You scoffed. “Gâcher? Et vous pensiez que me quitter après que nous ayons dormi ensemble pour la première fois n'était PAS une erreur? [Mess it up? And you thought leaving me after we slept together for the first time was NOT messing it up?]”
The others were simply looking back and forth in confusion. Obviously, you two had a rough past. Joseph cleared his throat awkwardly. Maybe he shouldn’t have brought it up…
Pol glanced down at his plate. “Je ... je suppose que c'était mal de moi. Je suis désolé. Je ... t'aime toujours, tu sais? Je n'ai jamais arrêté. [I ... I guess it was wrong of me. I am sorry. I... still love you, you know? I never stopped.]”
You began to cry.
Avdol put a comforting hand on your shoulder, though he didn’t know what to say.
“God damnit,” you muttered. “I still love you too, moron.”
There was silence. Though they understood only that, the other crusaders knew what went down between the two of you.
After that, everyone went to their rooms. Nothing else was spoken other than unmeaningful ‘good night’s and ‘see you tomorrow’s.
In the morning, you woke up with a newfound purpose in life. You knew how he felt, and he knew how you felt, but you were determined to grind his gears in revenge, anyway. He broke your heart so he deserved it. How to do it, however? You had a plan.
“Good morning, everyone,” you said as you walked into the breakfast area, your black silk robe still tied neatly against you. “I hope you all slept well. I have a feeling today is going to be a great day!”
“Uhh, yeah,” Kakyoin muttered, raising a brow. “You okay? You were… crying last night.”
You ruffled his hair. “Oh, don’t even worry about it, I’m great! More than great, actually.”
With that, you mozied off to grab a plate and start piling on breakfast items to eat. Luckily, the man you were looking for was right in front of you.
“Bonjour,” you said, tone light.
Pol shot you a look, but didn’t question your cheery attitude. “Salut.”
“Tu as l'air différent ce matin. Plus beau. Avez-vous fait quelque chose avec vos cheveux? Ou changer de tenue? [You look different this morning. More handsome. Did you do something with your hair? Or change your outfit?]”
“Non? Qu'est-ce que tu fais? [No? What are you up to?]”
You shrugged. “Je te donne juste un compliment. [Just giving you a compliment.]”
He finished stacking up his food and started to head back to the table, you following behind him.
As soon as you sat down, you began conversing once more. Running a hand lightly through his styled hair, you asked, “Êtes-vous sûr de n'avoir rien changé? [Are you sure you didn't change anything?]”
Jotaro let out a sigh, tilting his hat down. “Good grief. Here we go again.”
Pol shooed your hand away. “Oui. Maintenant mange. [Yes. Now eat.]”
This was the regular all day. Any chance you got, you’d pay him a compliment in French. The poor frenchman didn’t know what you were up to, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to find out.
After dinner, when the ones who were old enough to drink went down to the bar, was when things really started heating up.
Avdol and Joseph sat beside you as you sat beside Pol. They were busy chatting when they noticed you start a conversation. Despite not understanding, they decided to listen in.
“Belle nuit, non? [Beautiful night, no?]” you said, leaning your head against his shoulder as you stirred your glass.
You were right. It was beautiful.
“Oui [yes],” he agreed.
“Pas aussi beau que toi [not as beautiful as you],” you quipped, nudging him with your elbow.
He let out a sigh. He would love nothing more than to take the compliment as it was, but he knew not to. He felt stupid not knowing what you were up to, but he had a feeling it had to do with him falling for your scheme of compliments. His expression remained neutral, though you spotted color appearing on his cheeks. You smirked.
“Cette nuit n'était pas si mauvaise, non? C'est pour ça que tu es parti? Parce que je n'étais pas assez bon? Parce que je serais prêt à réessayer. Donnez-moi une autre chance et je jure que vous ne voudrez plus jamais quitter le lit. [That night wasn't so bad, was it? Is that why you left? Because I wasn't good enough? Because I'd be willing to try again. Give me another chance and I swear you'll never want to leave the bed.]” Your feet nudged his legs as you spoke.
You felt his shoulder tense underneath you.
“Ce n'est pas ça et tu le sais. [That's not it and you know it.]”
You began to trace the top of his hand with your nails, drawing little shapes. You noticed the hair on his arms stand up.
“Je ne te crois pas~~~~ [I don't believe you~~~~]”
Joseph leaned over to whisper to Avdol. “I think she might be flirting with ‘im.”
“Why would she do that if he broke her heart?”
Joseph shrugged. “I don’t know. I’ve never understood a woman’s true motives a day in my life, that’s why I was asking you what you think.”
“I’m a fortune teller, Mr, Joestar, not a mind-reader.”
Dismissing Avdol, Joseph tuned back into what was happening on the other side of him.
You now had one arm wrapped around his bicep, the other trailing a nail from his hand up to his shoulder and towards his neck.
“Rejoignez-moi dans ma chambre et convainquez-moi, n'est-ce pas? [Join me in my room and convince me there, won't you?]”
Polnareff gently grabbed your hand, stopping you from caressing his face. “Pourquoi fais-tu ça? Je sais que tu gardes toujours rancune. [Why are you doing this? I know you still hold a grudge.]”
You let out a weary sigh. “Oh chéri. S'il vous plaît. Arrêtons-nous avec les présentations et le bavardage. [Oh, love. Please. Let's just stop with the introductions and chit-chat.]”
With that, you stood up, moving to grasp his wrists and lead him away from the bar.
Joseph turned to Avdol but the Egyptian shook his head. “We’re not following them. Well, I’m not. I’ll be in the room. You’re welcome to do whatever, Mr. Joestar, but I’ll have no part.”
Avdol got up, moving towards the stairs.
Joseph scoffed. “Well, fine.” He ran after Avdol. “Wait for me!”
You let out a sigh of relief. You brought Pol out into the empty patio, and there was no sign of the other two following you. You breathed out, breath visible in the cool air.
“I think we’re alone now,” you said. “Finally.”
Polnareff turned to you, expression one that was commonly found on him present. Confusion. “What are you trying to accomplish? Just tell me.”
You said nothing, your hands tracing up both of his arms before resting against his cheeks. You used your thumb to caress his face. Fluttering your eyelashes, you gave him a look he recognized from way back in that hotel in France. You leaned up, getting on your tippy toes.
Despite the logical side of his brain telling him he shouldn’t, he slowly wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you in.
Your lips met, but before anything could happen, you pulled away suddenly. You were crying.
“I’m such an idiot,” you muttered. “Why did I think this was a good idea?” You backed away from his grasp. “I’m sorry.” Polnareff’s heart shattered. He hated seeing you in tears, especially since he didn’t know the reason. He assumed it was probably him. “What’s wrong?”
You bit your lip. “I was going to get revenge,” you said. “Do to you what you did to me. But I can’t. If… if I go up to your room and do what we did together when we were teens I could never convince myself to leave you. Because I’m still in love with you, and not just a little bit. A lot. So much that it hurts. And I don’t want you hurt, even though you hurt me. Because I’m stupid in love with you.”
For such a talkative man, he had nothing to say.
You two just stood in silence, cold air freezing your skin as you rubbed your arms. You let out a shaky sigh, eyes closing. You felt like an idiot. A love-sick idiot.
Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you against a broad chest that smelled of French alcohol and cigarette smoke. You took in a breath.
“I should be the one apologizing, ma chérie,” he said, voice cracking with emotion. “You deserve the world and if I could go back I never would have left you in that room. I just-- you had such big plans. You were an exchange student from America who was studying things I couldn’t even pronounce. I was some dumb nobody scrounging and wallowing about with no real purpose.”
“You’re an idiot,” you mumbled, arms moving to wrap around his neck as you glanced up at him. “You’re such an idiot, Jean Pierre.”
“I know,” he said, giving you a small smile. His cheeks were pink. “I really do know.”
“But I’d like you to be MY idiot from now on, if that’s okay with you.”
He gave a chaste kiss to your forehead. “If you’re willing to take me back, even in this hell of a situation we’re in right now, then I’d love nothing more, ma chérie.”
Your response was in the form of a kiss. But this time, it wasn’t a short one.
What finally pulled you two apart was a familiar gruff voice from a few stories above. “I knew it! I knew it!”
You both looked up, shooting glares at the elderly Joestar. He gave you a quick smile before popping his head back inside his window.
You let out a giggle, Polnareff chuckling along.
“Oh my,” you sighed. “What have I gotten myself into?”
He grinned. “I have no idea, myself, ma chérie. But we’ll have a bizarre adventure finding out!”
That night, you two shared a bed, snuggled up against each other. There was nothing more than scattered kisses shared, but it was a pleasant night, nonetheless.
When morning came, however, and you were met with strong arms embracing you from behind as a familiar snore sounded in your ear, you felt better than you had in years. More specifically, since that night in France.
Letting out a hum, you turned to kiss his forehead. “God, I love you, you big French idiot,” you mumbled. And you meant it.
Hope you enjoyed! <3

(Some of) My Favourite Quotes from the How To Train Your Dragon movies
“This is Berk.”
“There’s Fishlegs, Snotlout, the Twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut, and...*voice crack* Astrid. *cue heart eyes*”
"You sir, are playing a dangerous game. Keeping this much raw... Viking-ness... contained?! THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES!" // “I’ll take my chances.”
"Well, between you and me, the village could do with a little less feeding, don't you think?"
“Excuse me, barmaid! I’m afraid you’ve brought me the wrong offspring - I ordered an extra large boy with beefy arms, extra guts and glory on the side! This here? This is a talking fish bone!”
"It's not so much what you look like, it's what's inside that he can't stand."
“You need to stop all...this.” // “You just pointed to all of me.” // “Yes, that’s it! Stop being all of you.”
"Oh, the gods hate me. Some people lose their knife, or their mug. No, not me. I manage to lose an ENTIRE DRAGON?!"
"Oh, man! I should've gone first! 'Cause I was thinking, you know, we have a surplus of dragon-fighting Vikings, but do we have enough... Bread-making Vikings? Or small-home-repair Vikings?"
"Yeah, it's only fun if you get a scar out of it."
“Yeah, no kidding, right? Pain, love it."
“What’s the first thing you’re going to need?” // “A doctor?!?”
“Get back to bed, ya overgrown sausage!”
"Toothless? I could've sworn you had... teeth."
“Ha! It’s like the size of my- AHHHH!”
“I AM HURT, VERY MUCH HURT!”
"Everything we know about you guys is wrong."
“SON OF A HALF TROLL, RAT EATING MUNGE BUCKET!”
"Uh, you're right, you're right, you're right. I'm through with the lies. I've been making... outfits. So, you got me. It's time everyone knew. Drag me back. Go ahead. Here we go."
"OW! Why would you DO that?!"
"That's for the lies! And that's... [Drops the butt of her axe on Hiccup's groin]... for everything else!"
“Da-da-da, we’re dead!”
“And now the spinning. Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile.”
[Punches Hiccup] "That's for kidnapping me... [Kisses him on the cheek] That's for everything else."
“They’ve killed hundreds of us-!” // “And we’ve killed thousands of them!”
“You’re not a Viking. You’re not my son.”
“Three hundred years and I’m the first Viking who wouldn’t kill a dragon.” // “...First to ride one though.”
“I wouldn’t kill him because he looked as frightened as I was...I looked at him, and I saw myself.”
“So? What are you gonna do?”
“I knew it. I’m dead.”
“That’s for scaring me!” // “What, is it always going to be this way, this-?!” // *kisses him* // “I...could get used to it.”
“THAT’S MY FUTURE DAUGHTER IN LAW!!!”
"Oh, what? You want an apology? Is that why you're pouting, big baby-poo?"
"Well try this on! [hugs him, tries to wrestle with him] Oh, you feeling it yet? Huh? Picking up on all of my heartfelt remorse?"
“He's down! Oh, and it's ugly! Dragons and Vikings, enemies again! Locked in combat to the bitter--[Toothless pins Hiccup] --AAHHHhhhh..."
[After Toothless licks him] "You KNOW that doesn't wash out!"
"So, what should we name it?" [Toothless scratches his armpit] "Itchy Armpit it is."
“Son, we need to talk!-“ // “Not now, dad, I’ve got a whole day of goofing off to get started.”
“What you’re searching for isn’t out there, Hiccup - it’s in here. Maybe you just don’t see it yet.”
(Slow motion) “Oh my 😏 me likey... take me...!”
"I don't know. It's kind of hard to wrap my head around, to be frank. It's not everyday you find out your mother is some kind of... crazy, feral, vigilante dragon lady." // “Well...at least I’m not boring!”
“...he got me back. Right, bud? You couldn't save all of me, could you? You just had to make it even. So,..peg leg!”
"Never take a toy from a dragon. Don't you know anything?"
“This is why I never married - this, and one other reason.”
“You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you.”
"That's your mother?" // “Well, now you see where I get my dramatic flair!"
“May the Valkyries welcome you and lead you through Odin's great battlefield. May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of kings. For a great man has fallen: A warrior. A chieftain. A father. A friend.
“He always said you’d become the strongest of them all - and he was right.”
“You have the heart of a Chief and the soul of a dragon”
“A Chief protects his own.”
“It wasn’t your fault, bud...they made you do it...please, you’re my best friend...my best friend.”
"Yeah! Take 'em down, babe!"
“Now do you get it? This is what it is to earn a dragons loyalty!”
“He’s challenging the Alpha!” // “To protect you!”
“See..I told you it was in here.” (Punches his suit, making his wings sprout up)
“The Chief has come home!”
"This is Berk. A bit trampled and busted and covered in ice, but it's home. It's our home. Those who attacked us, are relentless, and crazy. But those who stopped them, oh, even more so! We may be small in numbers, but we stand for something bigger than anything the world can pin against us. We are the voice of peace, and bit by bit, we will change this world. You see, we have something they don't. Oh, sure, they have armies, and they have armadas. But we... we have... OUR DRAGONS!”
“Ohhh I know you’re a demon, no human legs are that skinny!”
“That’s really just a nitwit who forgot to fire proof his butt.”
“Astrid, I had him right where I wanted him.” // “And now he’s right where I wanted him.”
“I thought this was supposed to be a stealth mission?” // “Yeah, they always start that way.”
“Mmm, gorg-e-ousss...Watch the hair!”
“Hang up those saddles and get married.” // Tuffnut: “The M word.” // Ruffnut: “Gross. Unless it’s me.”
“Marry him, please. You’re the only one with any sense around here. With you wearing the pants, there’s still hope.” “Wow, Gobber! Not awkward at all!”
“Hiccup...this is Berk, son. It’s our home.”
“Even Night Furies?” // “Especially Night Furies.” // “Those are scary!”
“Well, we could just take Gobber’s advice and tie the knot. That should fix everything! But hey, if you’re having doubts about yours truly, I’m sure Snotlout is still available.” // “He only has eyes for your mom.” // “OH, playing dirty now, huh?” // “You asked for it...looks like there might be a wedding after all...”
“Okay okay; you win! You always win!” // “You knew what you were getting into.” // “Uh-huh, right.”
“It’s more like a Bright Fury-.” // “A Light Fury!” // “...Yeah, yours is better, probably...”
“Bud, what’s gotten into you? What is all this slobbering and panting?” // “Isn’t it obvious? He’s in love!” // “Trust me, relationships are nothing but pain and misery. (*Astrid lightly hits him*) Ow... What did I just say?!”
“Show these nay sayers, of which there are many, that you are more than just a malnourished runt with bad hair, strange teeth and a twig for a neck.” // “You're-you're really bad at pep talks.”
“I'll give him a piece of my mind. And by mind, I mean fist!”
“Did you miss the part where we almost died? Have you seen my house?”
“Look, I know this is our home - my father left me to protect it. But Berk is more than this place. WE are Berk! The people, the dragons! I say Berk is wherever we go!”
“We have to fight for their freedom.”
“Furies mate for life, you see.”
“Ah don’t mind him - it’s not your fault you have the body of a Norse God. I myself have that same problem.” (Tries to flex, back cracks painfully)
“Who died and made you Chief?” (*everyone groans/Gothi hits him*)
“Can we lose the whole honking goose thing? It’s hard to imagine wedded bliss with that going off every minute.”
“I’ll go with you, for protection-.” // “(quickly) NO...(pause)...you’re far too important here.”
“Oh, now you can draw!”
“Save it for your girlfriend! Go on, get out of here!”
“About that leg...lose the limp, no ones gonna marry that.” // “I have a prosthetic leg!” // “Yeah, and I have a parasitic twin but you don’t see me limping around about it!”
“I feel like how Ruffnut feels every day: dumb.”
“Odin be spanked!”
“I try to avoid looking at her because she gives me acid reflux.”
“If they’re stuck with Ruffnut, I’m more worried about them.”
“I know what you're thinking. You've never had a prisoner this hot.”
“Oops, you let the dragons out! They’re gonna get you, no this ones gonna get you...!”
“Now that’s a king.”
“Dad? Are you gonna get us a new mom?” // “I don’t want another. Your mum was the only woman for me. She was the love of my life. But with love comes loss, son. It’s part of the deal. Sometimes it hurts, but in the end, it’s all worth it. There’s no greater gift than love.”
“Well, you’re right. You’re back to where you started. But I was the first to believe in you, and I have watched you doubt whether you’re worthy ever since. I am the person I am today because of you. I never told you that but it’s true. You’re the bravest, most stubborn, determined knucklehead I know. Toothless didn’t give you that, Hiccup. He just made it...” // “Easier.”
“So what are you gonna do about it?” // “Probably something stupid.” // “That’s the Hiccup I know.”
“You’re right, bud. It’s time. I was so busy fighting for a world that I wanted, I didn’t think about what you needed. You’ve looked after us for long enough. Time to look after yourselves.”
“Oh, Stormfly...my good girl.”
“So long...you big ugly beast. I’ll miss you.”
“Go on, bud. Lead them to the Hidden World. You’ll be safe there. Safer than you could ever be with me. It’s okay. I love you too. And I want you to be free. Our world doesn’t deserve you. Yet.”
“Go, Toothless...Go.”
“There were dragons when I was a boy. Ah, there were great, grim sky dragons that nested on the clifftops like gigantic, scary birds. Little, brown, scuttly dragons that hunted down the mice and rats in well-organized packs. Preposterously huge sea dragons that were twenty times as big as the big blue whale. Some say they crawled back into the sea, leaving not a bone nor a fang for men to remember them by. Others say they were nothing but folktales to begin with. I’m okay with that.”
“He’s not going to eat your father!”
“Legend says that when the ground quakes, or lava spews from the earth, it’s the dragons, letting us know they’re still here, waiting for us to figure out how to get along. Yes, the world believes the dragons are gone, if they ever existed at all. But we Berkians, we know otherwise. And we’ll guard this secret until the time comes when dragons can return in peace.”

word count: 2.8k
summary: you hated everything about your school. even the stupid galas your best friend forced you to go to.
Tumblr media
You hated your school.
You hated the long, winding hallways that led to dull, lifeless classrooms. You hated the grey courtyard, meant to give students a place to be free, but only made you feel more trapped.
More importantly, you hated the people. The teachers, people who didn’t care and only wanted you to pass so you could get out of their face.
And the students. Greedy, monstrous little demons who hold each other’s secrets like playing cards, ready to whip them out and ruin each other’s lives at any given moment.
You could only stand two people at your school, and one of them graduated last year. His name was Bang Chan, and he took you under your wing when you were a freshman, guiding you through the halls in a way that kept the hardwood floors from eating you alive.
And you did the same to Lee Felix the next year. He was a new freshman, and his shaking doe eyes made your heart cry. So you took him under your wing, showing him where to go and where not to go.
Chan made you tough, teaching you to stand up for yourself against the assholes on campus.
Felix made you soft, teaching you compassion and empathy for those other than yourself.
They meant everything to you, and you couldn’t really be bothered to deal with anyone else.
But now Chan was gone, and you were a senior, and Felix was a junior.
You always thought that your grim perspective would tear Felix apart, but two years later, he still glows like the sun.
Even when the two of you are sitting in the basement of the school, a cigarette between your lips as you doodle on your math homework.
“Y/N….are you even listening to me?” Felix whined, his brown eyes somehow still sparking under the shitty yellow lamp lighting.
“No, you know that.” You pulled the cigarette from your lips’ hold, exhaling smoke and raising your eyebrow at your friend.
“I was talking about the gala. They’re doing a super cheesy theme this year: Paris. Fun, right?”
You gagged, “Of course they would do something like that. Sounds awful.”
“But Y/N!,” Felix pouted, “We have to go! We go every year. And it’s my last year with you…”
“D-Don’t give me those eyes...Felix! Fine.” You sighed. Damn Felix and his stupidly pretty eyes.
You checked the time on your phone, a soft curse leaving your lips as you put out your cigarette. You were going to be late, and art was the only class you cared about.
You loved your art class. Your teacher didn’t really care what you drew, exclaiming that, “art is everything! Even your breath is art!” And you liked drawing; it was quite soothing. Plus, the teacher loved you and said that you works were “inspired,” so the ego boost is much appreciated.
You were feeling tired today, so your drawing was simple. Just made of pencil, you drew a bedroom scene. Of course, the bedroom was much nicer than your actual one at your house, and you would much rather be in your art’s room. You sketched a bed, big and warm. You sketched a nightstand, paintings on the walls, a dresser, etc.
Your teacher stood by your side, draping a comforting arm over your shoulders, “Missing home?”
Home. A funny little word. This bedroom you drew wasn’t home, and neither was your bedroom where you lived. You didn’t really have a home.
“Yeah. Just tired today.”
Felix was part of Anime Club. He had Anime Club every Tuesday and Thursday, so you spent Tuesday and Thursday afternoons sitting in the back of the classroom the Anime Club kids used, getting a quick power nap. Then you two would walk home together, the sounds of your shoes clacking against the hardwood floors making you even more tired.
“What are you gonna wear to the gala?” Felix asked, the faraway look in his eyes signaling his excitement.
“I dunno...clothes, I guess.”
“Nice clothes, Y/N.”
“Fine. Nice clothes, I guess.”
Felix lived three streets away from you, which you thought was weird because you had never seen him before he was a freshman. Those last three streets were your least favorite to walk through, because they brought you closer and closer to the place you didn’t want to be.
There was nothing wrong with your house. On the outside at least. It was quite pretty; it even had flowers in the front yard. But there was nothing growing on the inside.
The air inside your house was suffocating. Your throat felt clogged as you took your shoes off.
“Y/N.”
“Mom.”
“How was school?”
“Fine. How was work?”
“Fine.”
And you were in your room.
Your mom was never the same after your dad left.
You remember that day like it was yesterday.
You were seven years old. Your mom was out at work, so it was just you and your dad. He had spent the whole day coming in and out of the house, but you didn’t know why. You had been in your room, playing with your toys, so all you heard was the door. Around 3:00, he came into your room and scooped you up into his arms. His tears were wet in your hair.
“Daddy? What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” You had asked. He sat down on your bed, setting you on his lap.
“Y/N, you know I love you very much, right?”
You had giggled, “Yes, Daddy! Of course I know that!”
He kissed your forehead before setting you back on the ground, “I’m going out for a bit, okay?”
“Okay!”
And you never saw him again.
When your mom came home at 5:00 to a house without her husband, she had asked you where he went.
When you replied with, “Out,” she broke.
She spent days in her room after that, refusing any of the little snacks you brought her.
When she did finally come out, something had changed. She was much more reserved, and the light had drained from her eyes, almost like she was just a walking corpse.
When you were old enough, she explained to you why she was so sad all the time.
You never had crushes on boys after that.
Her job was hardly enough to keep you two afloat, so you sold a lot of things. Your house was almost bare, only having a couch and a tv on the floor. Your room was like that too, the only furniture being your bed and dresser. When you turned 16, you got a part-time job, and almost all of that money went to paying bills.
You flopped down on your bed, immediately curling under the blankets. You never really bothered with doing your homework. You’d just do it the next day and get an A on it. It was always like that with you.
Time passed quickly. Too quickly. Two weeks had already passed and it was time for the gala. You were dressed in the nicest outfit you owned. Felix had come home with you and raided your closet, claiming that you needed his fashion expertise.
“Why don’t you have any nice clothes?”
“Felix I have no money.”
“Well neither-”
“You live in a mansion, shut up.”
But you cleaned up nicely, at least that’s what Felix said. You also had to promise him that you wouldn’t smoke at all that night. He gave you those stupid eyes again, so you agreed.
You thought the gala was even more boring every year. You only went as a freshman because Chan said you needed to have the full experience of New Haven Preparatory School. You didn’t know that meant having to watch all your peers grinding on each other, alcohol and God knows what else in their systems. One thing you didn’t know about prep schools before attending one: the kids were much more rebellious. Something about being so confined made them act out even more. You heard 3 different couples hooking up in the same bathroom when you just wanted to pee.
This year might’ve been the most boring. The way overdone theme made you want to gouge your eyes out. There was a cardboard Eiffel Tower and the lights were hung up to look like stars. If you squinted, it was kind of pretty.
Felix was having a good time though. While you leaned back against the wall, sipping on a punch you were 99% sure was spiked, Felix was living it up on the dance floor. Sometimes you forgot that Felix was a dancer, as he never really talked about it much. But when you saw him dance, you remembered all of the recitals you’ve gone to for him.
You become 100% sure that the punch is spiked when Felix holds out a hand, beckoning you to the dance floor, and you accept. You don’t know if you can dance, but you’re assuming you can’t based on the amused look on your best friend’s face. You two clumsily move to the beat of Top 50 pop songs, giggling whenever one of you trips. You were tipsy, and Felix was just a clumsy guy.
The gym hushes when the doors open, revealing someone you could care less about.
Seo Changbin.
Seo Changbin was practically made of money. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Changbin could literally get away with murder. You assumed that was why everyone liked him so much.
After a moment of gaping silence, the party continued. There was more chatter, mostly from people with huge crushes on the senior.
“God, he’s so hot. Do I look good enough for him to talk to me?”
You just laughed listening to their conversations. Felix must’ve heard them, too, as he rolled his eyes.
You didn’t care about Changbin. He had never been mean to you, but he was never nice to you either. So you just didn’t care.
You cared so little that you merely shrugged when he tapped on your shoulder, taking your hand in his and dragging you away from your best friend.
You cared so little that you couldn’t be bothered to push him away when he pulled you into the janitor’s closet and suddenly had you pressed against a wall. You didn’t push him away when his lips connected with yours, with a fire you weren’t aware his possessed. In fact, you cared so little that you kissed him back, wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him even closer.
You weren’t sure how long you were in that closet, or where your shoes were, or how many hickeys were on your neck, but you didn’t really care. You just went and found Felix, telling him that you were tired and wanted to go back to your house. And Felix walked you back, the knowing smirk never leaving his face, even after he dropped you off.
Seo Changbin was a complicated guy, especially when it came to matters of the heart.
People called him a player, and from most angles, he looked like one. But he swore he wasn’t.
But he never really talked about his feelings.
“Dude, you’re a fuckboy. Just deal with it.” His best friend Minho had said when Changbin tried to explain himself. His other friend, Seungmin, nodded from his spot in the corner, where he was reading a manga.
Seungmin was a junior, and sometimes Changbin thought about knocking his teeth out. But Seungmin could pay to get new teeth in a day, so what was the point?
He has tried to knock Minho’s teeth out once. He doesn’t really remember what they were fighting about, but he punched Minho in the mouth and got a beating in return. They’ve agreed to never fight again.
But Changbin swears he isn’t a fuckboy.
Seo Changbin, although rough on the outside, was soft on the inside. All he wanted was someone to fall in love with. Someone to hold at night and someone to make breakfast with and someone to kiss and hug and just…someone to love.
Seo Changbin was a strong believer in fate and soulmates, and believed that you would know who your soulmate was the moment your lips touched theirs.
So he spent his whole high school career trying to find his soulmate. So he’s kissed almost everyone at school. That’s actually how he met Minho...and Seungmin.
It took him four years to find his soulmate. He couldn’t understand the energy that passed through him the moment his lips touched yours. It was like someone had lit a match inside his body and set all his organs on fire in the best way possible. When you left, it was like all of the warmth in the world had been taken away from him, and he was left in the cold.
You were Changbin’s soulmate. He was sure of it.
Now all he had to do was make you his.
School had gotten weirder after the gala. Everyone looked at you, which is something they never did.
“Felix,” you whined, back in the basement, “why was everyone staring at me?”
“Oh, I don’t know Y/N, maybe it’s because you hooked up with Seo Changbin in the janitor’s closet.”
“We didn’t hook up! We just kissed for a little. I have self-control, asshole.”
You heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Your eyes widened as you put out your cigarette, making sure your foot was covering it as the person showed themselves.
“Seo Changbin, fancy seeing you here.” Felix sent a knowing glance your way, not even trying to make his wink secretive.
“I...I just wanted to give this to Y/N.” Changbin pulled out a single rose from behind his back, shoving it into your hand with a shy smile.
“You...you didn’t fall in love with me because of a kiss, did you?” You laughed awkwardly, setting the rose down next to you.
“I did, actually.”
Oh Jesus, you thought.
“Oh Jesus.” you said.
That wasn’t the last you saw of Seo Changbin that day. He walked you to your art class, then he walked you home, with Felix trailing behind. He wasn’t the worst person to talk to, and you actually found yourself laughing at a few of his jokes.
Changbin couldn’t even describe the joy he felt when he heard your laugh.
And this continued for the next few weeks, as the end of winter transitioned into spring. You could predict Changbin’s lines at this point, and it was pretty amusing.
“The flowers are so pretty today.” Felix mused.
“Like Y/N.” You and Changbin said in sync, sending each other sly grins afterwards. You hadn’t really noticed that his hand was holding yours. It happened a lot, and you didn’t mind it. You didn’t care.
You cared so little that you let him kiss your cheek as he left to go to his house.
You cared so little that you blushed when he said, “See you tomorrow, my darling Y/N.”
You cared so little that you walked home in a daze, hardly able to hear Felix’s teasing laugh.
“Mom.” You had said once you entered the house. Your mother jumped, not used to the lightness of your tone.
“Y/N.”
“I love you.”
A smile broke out on her face, the first one you had seen from her in years, “I love you too, my baby.”
And she hugged you, and she cried, and you cried. Your house felt a little bit more like a home, and you thought you should thank Changbin. He was always bright, bringing a new perspective of optimism into your life.
The next day, you decided you would thank him.
You took his hand in yours on your walk home, startling him enough to make him stutter. You watched him as he spoke, and you told him that he looked nice that day. By the time you got to his house, he was a blushing mess.
“B-Bye, Y/N.” He turned around to go to his house, but you stopped him. You wrapped your arms around his torso from behind, trying to pour every ounce of adoration you held for him into this hug. His eyes watered as he placed his hands over yours, immediately understanding what you wanted to tell him. He knew you well enough to not say anything, only turning around and pressing a kiss to your forehead before going home.
Home wasn’t a building. Home wasn’t a person either. To you, home was a feeling. A feeling of comfort and safety. That feeling started following you everywhere, leaving you feeling at home in your own skin.
You still hated your school. The hallways and the classrooms and the courtyard and the teachers and the students. But you still felt at home there, as your home was anywhere you went.

Untitled Iwaoi Short Story #1
(Part 1 here)
                                                        PART 2
“That was such a great dinner, Auntie! I’m completely stuffed, right Iwa-chan?” Oikawa exclaims happily, his voice carrying through the small house in bright, musical tones.
Iwaizumi receives a short but painful jab to his side with Oikawa’s elbow. The movement almost makes him drop the dinner plate he’s scrubbing into the soapy water. He gives Oikawa a short, annoyed look before responding. “Yes, thanks so much!” he calls out hurriedly.
“Ohh it was no trouble at all boys,” Oikawa’s aunt says, gracefully gliding down the stairs in her long, summery-red pleated skirt.
Once Iwaizumi had met Oikawa’s aunt, her sophisticated and bubbly personality was one of the first things he noticed about her. She gave the boys a warm hug, welcomed them in, and immediately turned to Iwaizumi. “Now Iwaizumi dear, let’s do away with the formalities for now. Why don’t you just call me Hisako? Goodness knows all my colleagues already do.” Hisako waved her left hand air in a quick flourish and lead the boys into her house. She showed Oikawa and Iwaizumi to their room upstairs. “I’ll leave you two to unpack for a while. I’ve got to head back downstairs to finish up dinner. Feel free to join me whenever you boys are ready to eat!”
“She’s great, isn’t she?” Oikawa threw his duffel bag onto the ground, turning back to Iwaizumi proudly, “Mom says she’s a spitfire, but I like her a lot! She’s always been there for me, ya know?”
Iwaizumi considers Oikawa’s past words as he continues to work on the last of the dinner plates. It’s no surprise that Oikawa would like her. Hisako had a lot of qualities that reminded him of his best friend. Their determined attitudes and boundless energy were practically the same. No wonder Oikawa was so excited to make the trip up here.
Hisako calls out from the other room. “If you two are about done with the dishes, would you mind meeting me in the living room in a bit? I’d love to show you a few of my designs for the show on Sunday. Tooru, you also need to hear the rundown of the itinerary so you know what to expect.”
Once the boys get done cleaning up, they join Hisako on her pink and blue floral patterned couch. It’s a cozy fit with all three of them, Hisako on the far left, Iwaizumi on the far right, and Oikawa snugly in the middle.
Tucking a loose strand her wavy black hair behind her ear, Hisako reaches down to the side of the couch, picks up a thick shiny black binder and hands it to Oikawa to open. He carefully takes the huge binder from her and opens to one of the first tabbed pages.
“So for this particular show, since it’s still only my second one, I really wanted to focus on kids’ streetwear. I’ve noticed that a lot of students like to have clothing that’s still modern and practical, but also wear things that fit to their own unique sense of style…”
They spend the next half hour pouring through the thick and colorful pages of Hisako’s designs. Oikawa listens with keen interest as his aunt talks to them about her ideas and underlying concepts with model’s outfit. It seems like with each particular outfit and pattern, Hisako has a wonderful remark or funny story to recount on each model.
“You see now why I wanted you to join me on this project Oikawa? I really need students with strong personalities, since the show’s main concept is based around stories of youth. So, this is where you come in…”
Oikawa lounges back while he listens to his aunt talk about what she has planned for his design. He loves hearing about Hisako’s stories and inspiration behind everything, but he can’t help but wonder if Iwaizumi is starting to feel a little left out. Carefully, out of the corner of his eye, he slowly and surreptitiously directs his gaze to Iwaizumi. With Hisako’s voice still in the background, he puts his hearing on autopilot for a few moments while he stares at his best friend.
Iwaizumi has his knees brought up to his chest, his hands wrapped around them as he gazes down at the sketch of Oikawa’s proposed design for the show. Oikawa’s breath hitches softly as he scans Iwaizumi’s face. There’s a fondness to the boy’s dark eyes, his lips are slightly pursed. It reminds Oikawa of how Iwaizumi used to look at him when they were children. But there’s also something else to it… With a confused realization, it dawns on him. Iwaizumi looks like he’s concentrating on something. Like he’s drinking in the design on Hisako’s drawing, trying to memorize the curve of each pencil marking, of each splotch of color on the roughly sketched pattern. Iwaizumi’s left hand reaches down to feel the small piece of fabric stapled onto the bottom right corner of the page. Oikawa catches his eye once Iwaizumi turns to pretend to look at Hisako.
Iwaizumi locks the back of his jaw once he realizes Oikawa’s caught him staring. The pair lock eyes for a second. The light brown irises of Oikawa fixate on his own, like a curious tiger pup. Iwaizumi ducks his head down towards his lap, knowing that the heat traveling up his neck and onto his cheeks are definitely noticeable. “Stupid idiot…” he thinks.
Goosebumps appear on Oikawa arms as he slowly averts his eyes. “Weird…Why did Hajime blush just now?”
Guess he’d have to tackle that question later.
———————————————————————————————————
                                                       *Saturday*
“Here you go!” Hisako sings out, beaming down at Iwaizumi and Oikawa, setting down a plate of pancakes and two tall glasses of strawberry-and-kewi smoothies in front of them. “Now, Tooru, dear, just so you know, I’m gonna be out at the office in town for the majority of this afternoon and the evening, so you’ll have to be in charge of making sure this young man,” she gestures to Iwaizumi, “gets fed a good dinner, okay? There’s a nice little market about a few miles still outside of town that you two can drive over to pick up whatever you’d like. I’d make dinner for you both but I need to stay late at the studio tonight so we can finish paperwork and make any last minute adjustments before the show tomorrow.”
Oikawa nods eagerly and salutes his aunt, “Of course Auntie, you can count on me! Can’t wait to see my outfit in person tomorrow, I bet it’ll make all the girls swoon!”
Hisako lets out a sparkling laugh, “Oh, I’m sure, Tooru.” She puts her breakfast dish in the sink, walking over to the front door to grab her sweater and her large canvas bag. “Hope you two have fun hanging out today! There’s a great beach nearby that you boys should go to if you have the time. I’ve got to run, take care now!” Iwaizumi and Oikawa hear the final few clacks of her shoes as she shuts the screen door behind her and walks down the steps of the front porch towards her car. They hear her engine start and then she’s off.
“God, you really are a putz” mutters Iwaizumi, lightly smacking the back of Tooru’s head.
“Not my fault you don’t know how to talk to women, Iwa-chan,” Oikawa says as he attempts to dodge Iwazumi, but ultimately failing.
Iwaizumi rolls his eyes and gets up from his chair. He didn’t feel like bickering with Oikawa today. He was in too good of a mood, plus he really wanted to go somewhere with Oikawa to play volleyball anyways.
“Sooooo Iwa-channn what’s on the agenda for today?” Oikawa asks. He stands up from his chair and stretches out his tall torso, his arms almost touching the bottom of the fan in the kitchen.
“Wanna do a practice match somewhere?”
“Hmmm. Yes, but I also wanted to check out that beach Auntie mentioned. Not like we really have a beach back home.”
“Why don’t we do both? We can set up a court once we find a good spot.” Iwaizumi suggested.
“Ohhh a beach match? You’re on, mothman.”
Iwaizumi lets out a small, soft “Dumbass” under his breath, then quickly runs up the stairs to grab their duffels, Oikawa slowly following up after him.
———————————————————————————————————-
Oikawa’s high-pitched falsetto voice pierces Iwaizumi’s ears while he tries to keep concentrating on the winding road in front of him. He sings out another lyric of the weird country song that they happened to discover on the local radio a few minutes ago.
“Joooooooooooleeeenne, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Puh-LEASE don’t take my maaannn. Even though you totally caaannn-“ Oikawa drawls out in a feminine, old-lady voice, intentionally fucking up the lyrics.
Iwaizumi lets out another round of loud barking laughter. He forgot how genuinely funny Oikawa can be once he lets his guard down. But that usually only happens when it’s just the two of them together. He scrunches up his eyes, tears of laughter pricking at the outer edges of his eyelids. He’s laughing and smiling so much that his jaw is starting to get sore. “S-stop it you bastard, you’re gonna make me crash this damn car.”
Oikawa grins over at Iwaizumi, his eyes crinkling at the edges. He turns back forward and smiles quickly to himself. He absolutely loves Iwaizumi’s laugh. The sound never gets old. “Damn, what a stupid song. Who the fuck is Jolene??”
“I don’t-“ Iwaizumi tries to respond but is stopped by another round of laughter. “I don’t know man, but she’s got some issues apparently. I feel kind of bad for her, honestly.”
“Eh, not bad enough,” Oikawa grins. “Since when does Japan have American country stations? Is this a new fad or some shit?”
           “I have no idea.”
“Oh, Iwa-chan, there’s the turn up ahead!” Oikawa says hurriedly, leaning forward in his seat.
Iwaizumi turns off the main route onto another small, dusty dirt road. As they make a couple more turns, the truck spits up dust.
“Oh wow, is this sand?” Oikawa tries to squint through the yellowish haze.
“I guess so. We must be close.”
They head around a row of trees and then make one final turn. Iwaizumi parks in one of the faded parking spots, then kills the engine. It doesn’t take too long to unpack the bed of the truck. With both duffel bags slung around Iwaizumi and Oikawa carrying the net bag, they walk down a sandy path to the beach below.
They find a good, flat area of sand and throw down their bags. Iwaizumi sets up the volleyball net while Oikawa takes off his flip flops. He unpacks the volleyballs, water bottles, and snacks.
           “Hey, ‘kawa, the net’s done.”
           “Lit.”
Iwaizumi throws the net bag down near the duffels and Oikawa takes a couple minutes to mark the edges of each side of the court using a stick. He squints at the line on each side, then runs over to the other side to check the dimensions.
“It’s fine, Oikawa. Let’s play already.” Iwaizumi drawls.
“Fine, fine.” Oikawa takes his sunglasses off and perches them neatly in his hair. He picks a light blue volleyball up from the ground and walks onto his side of the court. Iwaizumi’s already on his side, hands on his knees, ready for Oikawa to start. Using only one hand, Oikawa swiftly throws the ball high up in the air. “You know I’m totally gonna win this match, right?”
Iwaizumi snorts and smirks at Oikawa through the holes of the net. “Not on your life, pretty boy.”
———————————————————————————————————-
Soaring through the air over the net, the small blue volleyball heads toward Iwaizumi’s side of the court. With the quickness of a puma and the grace of a warrior, the spiky-haired male crouches down and receives the ball. The volleyball bounces back upwards, over Iwaizumi’s head and the boy looks up. He ends up timing the comedown of the ball perfectly, executing a three step approach. Calf muscles tensing, Iwaizumi swings his arms back and jumps up in the air. With a look of fierceness set in his face, eyes gleaming, his right arm whips forward and sends the ball flying straight down towards Oikawa’s side.
Oikawa dives forward and manages to keep the ball up, but only enough to the point where it flys forward underneath the net. His sunglasses fall down crookedly onto the bridge of his nose. He groans. He almost got a mouthful of sand from this last one.
Iwaizumi lets out a snicker, “What was that about beating me again?” He grins, watching Oikawa pick his lanky frame up off the sand.
Dammit. Oikawa was sure his past spike wouldn’t turn into a chance ball, but somehow Iwaizumi managed to receive and turn it into a downward attack. He watches Iwaizumi take off his shirt through the lenses of his sunglasses. Iwaizumi grabs his water bottle and takes a long drink of water, his other hand resting on his hip.
What a cocky bastard. Oikawa mentally convinces himself that he’s not taking this moment to run his eyes down the frame of Iwaizumi’s body. Nope. Definitely not taking in his wonderful, tan shoulders, and his stocky biceps, and of course that stupid lovely six pack- Wait what the hell? When did Iwa-chan get so buff??  Has he been doing extra strength training on the side or something?
“Ready to get your ass whooped again, Shittykawa?” calls out Iwaizumi.
Oikawa dusts the sand off his knees, sweat dripping down his bangs into his face. He takes a few ragged breaths. “You fuckin wish, biiiitttcchh.”
Iwaizumi is about to make a retort when he notices Oikawa’s fast panting, his chest heaving in and out to try and steady his breathing back to normal. His hair is drenched, his shirt covered in sweat. Oikawa glances down worriedly at the wrap on his knee, reminding Iwaizumi of his past injury. He hastily looks at his watch.
“On second thought, you look pretty tired, Tooru. It’s getting close to dinnertime anyways. Let’s call it a match and pack up, yeah?”
Oikawa lets out an annoyed huff but then concedes.
———————————————————————————————————–
They arrive back home, laughing about another funny joke Oikawa said when they were on the road. Iwaizumi and Oikawa tramp up the porch steps and through the screen door, both letting out relaxed sighs when the air conditioning hits them. They head towards the kitchen counter. Iwaizumi turns around and tosses his water bottle quickly to Oikawa, Oikawa wordlessly catching it in his hand.
“Take this back up to the room, then we can go to the market and get some food. I’ll make dinner tonight if you want.”
“Uh…sure Iwa-chan.” He replies, hurrying up the stairs in a daze.
He sets both he and Iwaizumi’s water bottles on top of the dresser in their room. He takes a minute for himself, grabbing a towel and running it through his locks of hair to get the sweat out. He’s about to head out of the room when his eyes naturally find their gaze to the mirror hanging on the opposite wall. He walks closer to his reflection, placing the towel around his neck.
Oikawa inspects his appearance in the mirror. Eyebrows knitted together, he turns his face to either side, looking at his cheekbones. His wide, almond shaped brown eyes. His thin lips, still nicely rounded out for a guy’s mouth. He had okay teeth, straight and not too big.
“Iwa-chan’s still prettier though,” he thought.
He shakes his head, trying to regain focus. Bounding down the stairs to meet Iwaizumi, he realizes he left his flips flops somewhere in the living room.
“Almost done Oikawa? I’m starving, we should head out now.” Iwaizumi calls from the kitchen.
“One second!” Oikawa answers. He’s slipping his toes through his sandals he found underneath the coffee table when something black and shiny catches his eye. “Auntie’s binder?”
He reaches over and slowly slides the binder towards him. He opens to a random tab and somehow manages to get to the exact design that’s supposed to be what he’s wearing for the show tomorrow. Running his fingertips over the drawing of his figure, it finally dawns on him. His eyes widen and snap up from the book. “I’ve figured it out! I know what I need to do!”
“Seriously Shittykawa let’s-,” Iwaizumi walks over and stops to see Oikawa staring at the designs, “go…”
Oikawa quickly looks up at him from his sitting position on the floor. “Oh Iwa-chan, uh-“ Iwaizumi notices his eyes flit away from him for a couple of seconds. It looks like he’s trying to come up with something to say. “Right, about dinner…uh, could you go on without me? I uh, have a stomach ache. I’ll just stay here. Pick out whatever, okay?”
His wide orbs stare up at him nervously and Iwaizumi knows he made that last part up. “Sure….if that’s what you want…” he narrows his eyes at Oikawa. He just knows the little shit’s up to something.
“It is, now please goooo Iwa-chaaann. Out, out, out!” Oikawa pushes him happily out the door, tossing his truck keys to him.
When Iwaizumi’s finally gone, Oikawa sighs heavily and looks up at the clock on the kitchen wall. It was already 5pm. He does some quick math in his head, trying to see if he has enough time to leave and come back before Iwaizumi gets back home. It would probably take Iwaizumi about 20 minutes or so to get to the market Hisako had told them about.
“There’s no way I can make it all the way into town and back without the chance of Iwa-chan knowing I was gone. Hm. Unless….yes of course! I’ll use that shortcut!”
He grabs the house keys, changes into his running shoes, and sprints out the door. Instead of running alongside the road all the way into town like he usually would, he hops a small fence and takes a shortcut through the neighbor’s small forest. He ends up running through a wide barley field, the sun beating down on him in waves and his body starting to get sweaty all over again. The leaves of the plants in the field scrape against his calves but Tooru pays it no mind. He makes his way down to a large road on the corner of town. Once he crosses one of the main roads, he’s able to slip behind the main buildings and into a suburb which he knows will lead him to where he needs to be.
He passes the last house in the long, narrow neighborhood street and makes another turn, leading to a small set of offices. He runs through the bronze double doors and takes the elevator up to the fifth floor, leaning back against the wall of the elevator to finally catch his breath. The door opens to a bright white hallway, giant black and white photos of models striking dramatic poses in different outfits line the walls. He gets to the end of the hallway and fast-walks into his aunt’s studio space. He scans the area and spots Hisako standing near her desk with two colleagues, leaning down and pointing to a areas on a printed photo with her pen.
“Oh, Oikawa dear, I’m quite surprised to see you here. Where’s your friend, Hajime?” she asks curiously.
Oikawa takes a deep breath, wringing his hands in front of him. “Yeah, about Iwa-chan… Auntie, I need you to help me out with a huge favor.”

Chapter 6: Yellow or Green?
The entire town of Storybrooke could talk of nothing for days after Emma and Killian's big baby announcement. Between Snow and the dwarves telling everyone they could, anyone who hadn't been at the party knew within a day or so. Slowly, especially for Emma who was still throwing up on a daily basis, the days turned to weeks and before Emma knew it she was five months pregnant. As their alarm went off to wake them up for work, Emma reached over to turn it off and felt instantly amazed.
"Killian," She said trying to wake her still sleeping husband.
"Whaaaamf iz tit uuuvve?" he mumbled into his pillow.
"I didn't throw up last night!" Emma said elated! This would seem a silly accomplishment to anyone not getting over the stomach flu but to her it was a Christmas miracle. Dr. Whale told her that some women experience morning sickness their entire pregnancy and Emma was beginning to think she was one of those lucky few. Morning sickness was obviously a relative term because anytime of the day she could find herself needing to sprint to the closest bathroom. She started figuring out foods and smells that set her off more than others but it was still extremely annoying.
"Really?" Killian rolled over, placing his arm under her neck to pull her close to him. "No more morning sickness?"
"I wouldn't go that far yet but this was the first time I slept through the night without puking since before I found out I was pregnant."
"I was beginning to think you were this horrible mother who was sneaking out after I went to sleep to binge drink at the rabbit hole and was crawling home to puke your guts out." He teased her causing her to swat playfully at him.
"Hahaha I would much rather have the drunk pukes. At least they don't hit you in the middle of grocery shopping or parent conferences." Emma said thinking back to some recent unpleasant memories.
"Someone's been giving Mummy trouble already." Killian said placing his hand on Emma's rounded stomach and bending down to give it a gentle kiss.
Killian was absolutely obsessed with her baby bump and Emma loved it. She remembered the first day her clothes no longer fit her. She had been particularly hormonal that day and they were supposed to be going over to Regina's to celebrate baby Robin's birthday. She must have tried on every outfit in her closet and not a single thing fit her. She ended up in sweat pants and her bra sitting on the floor sobbing. When her husband had come up stairs to check on her, finding her like that he rushed to her assuming something was wrong.
"Emma love what's wrong? Is it the baby?"
"Yes!" Emma said through angry sobs.
"What is it? Do you need a doctor?"
"It's not like that. The baby is fine. Great actually that's the current issue."
"I'm afraid I'm not following love." Killian said, he had learned to be patient with his wife when she was having hormonal moments if he liked his head.
"Look!" Emma said pulling off the shirt to reveal a small bump on her stomach.
"I see! You're finally showing! Our baby is finally making itself known to us!" Killian said wrapping his arms around his wife and pulling her in for a hug.
"And none of my clothes fit! I'm a cow. What is everyone going to think when I show up to the party like this?" Emma said pouting.
"Well you have to be the cutest damn cow I've ever seen." Killian said. "They might think it a tad on the scandalous side. Crazed mother to be shows up to a two year olds birthday party in nothing but her bra and sweats sobbing that she has joined the bovine family." As much as Emma wanted to smack him she couldn't help but smile. He had a way of making her laugh.
"Maybe my mom still has some of her maternity clothes that she can lend me for this afternoon then we can go shopping."
"That's the spirit love! Here, wear one of my shirts until then," Killian said, turning his wife around so her back was to him and they were both staring at their reflections in the mirror. "This right here, is the most beautiful site in the entire world." He said, kissing her cheek and placing his hand and hook on her stomach. You have never been more beautiful to me than you are right now, carrying my child."
From that day on whenever possible, Killian's hand was on her stomach. He talked to the baby constantly. This morning waking up was no different.
"I hope this isn't a sign for what we are in for." Emma said laughing.
"Say no Mummy! You are a little angel aren't you baby." He said kissing her swollen belly then coming up to kiss his wife.
"Did you think on the appointment today?" Emma asked him.
"I did. I don't want to know."
"Really? You don't want to know if it's a boy or a girl?"
"If you really want to we can. Where I'm from we have to do it the old fashioned way and find out when it's born."
"I'm fine with not knowing. There aren't very many surprises left in life."
"Thank the gods. I really wasn't feeling another big reveal operation. Those are exhausting!"
"You and me both. I'm sure my mom will give us a hard time about it though just be prepared."
"Do you have preference for what it is?"
"No, not really." She said.
"Are you sure about that?" He asked eying her suspiciously.
"I mean…."
"There it is!" He said proud of himself.
"I just mean that I will love him or her unconditionally regardless, but we already have a boy, it might be nice to have a little girl. I'm sure you want a little swashbuckling boy though."
"Why can't I have a little swashbuckling lass?"
"You certainly can! I just figured you would want a little Killian is all."
"I, like you, will love our child unconditionally regardless but I would be a miss to say I wasn't fond of the idea of daddy's little girl."
"I think that role would suit you well." Emma said smiling, nuzzling her husbands cheek. "We better get up and get going since we have to leave early today for the doctor."
"Unfortunately you are right love. Are we picking Henry up from school?"
"No, my mom is leaving early to check him out and bring him. She has been begging me even more than he has about coming to an appointment. Sorry, I should have told you." Emma said, hoping the additional guest at their appointment wouldn't bother him.
"No reason to be sorry love. I am floored that our child is entering the world surrounded by people who love it."
"Me too. My mom missed so much with me, and she says that there are so few milestones in my life left, that she wants to be part of all that she can. Who am I to deny the woman that?"
"And if you did she would just come anyway." Killian pointed out.
"True story bro." Emma said.
"Last I checked we weren't siblings…" Killian said confused.
"It's an expression. All the cool kids are saying it these days. I'll get dressed then head downstairs to get breakfast going."
"True story bro!" Killian said excitedly.
"No you can't say it for…you know what…never mind!" Emma said walking away laughing. One of these days she would get her pirate into the 21st century.
At three o'clock Emma, Killian, Henry, and Snow were all sitting in the waiting room of Dr. Whale's office.
"This is so exciting! We're going to get to see your little brother or sister!" Snow said wrapping her arm around Henry's shoulder.
"It would be more exciting if these two would find out if it was a brother or a sister!" Henry said.
"What? You don't want to know?" Snow asked surprised.
"Mom there are so few surprises left in life. Why ruin one of them?"
"How will we decorate the nursery if we don't know what it is though?"
"You can go gender neutral or wait until the baby is born and do it then."
"A baby should have a proper nursery when it's born!" Snow said appalled at the idea of waiting until her grandchild was here before painting the walls of it's bedroom.
"How did you decorate my nursery? You didn't know what I was." Emma said and Snow went very quiet and began fiddling with items in her purse.
"Mom…you didn't know what I was right?"
"True we didn't have fancy technology that let us see the baby before it was born but we had….ways of finding out what it was."
"You didn't Mom!" Emma said surprised.
"Grandma!" Henry said even more surprised.
"Really Snow?" Killian said.
"It wasn't like I cast a spell or something on myself or put you in any danger! Your father's mother had this necklace that was enchanted that could tell you if you were going to have a boy or a girl."
"Mom you know all magic comes with a price! What if the price had been that I was born with three heads?"
"Or what if she was cursed to act like a chicken during a full moon?" Henry added.
"Or what if she could only speak in haiku's her whole life?" Killian said accusingly. Unfortunately the three of them were not able to keep the façade up and started laughing.
"Oh please! Like the three of you haven't used magic to find something out. Clearly she came out just fine so no harm no foul."
"Emma Jones! The doctor will see you now please follow me!" A nurse called out and the four of them followed her back to the room.
"You know…sometimes when I'm around horses I feel like I…" Emma started but was cut off by her mother swatting at her shoulder.
"Shhh and follow the nurse young lady. I brought you into this world and I can take you out! You are fine!" Snow said.
Fifteen minutes later after vitals were taken, Dr. Whale was performing the ultrasound on Emma with her family members gathered around.
"Brought the whole crew today huh?" He asked.
"Oh this isn't the whole crew." Emma said laughing. "If you really wanted to draw out the family tree I don't think we would all fit in here." Everyone else started laughing too.
"Well they will be sad they didn't make the cut because this is one of those super high tech ultrasound machines that should you a 3D image of your baby. It's basically the next best thing to them actually seeing them. So let's see here…" Dr. Whale started moving the wand around to find the right angle. "Here we go. Ready to meet your baby?" Emma grabbed Killian's hand and both tightened their grip as an image filled the screen. Instead of a traditional grainy ultrasound image this one showed actual detail.
"Oh my God!" Emma said unable to hold back the tears. She gazed upon a perfect little nose, to perfect little lips, perfect little fingers and toes.
"That's our baby!" Killian said shakily. Emma looked up and saw he was crying too.
"Look it's waving at you!" Dr. Whale said noting that the baby's hand was moving. "If you've been talking to it frequently it probably recognizes your voices.
"Oh Emma! That's your baby!" Snow said kissing her daughter's head, barely holding back tears. "It's beautiful."
"It's perfect!" Emma and Killian said together, unable to take their eyes off the screen.
"Hey little dude! I'm your big brother!" Henry said.
"Pretty cool huh kid?" Emma asked taking her son's hand. Henry's eyes were so full of excitement, this baby couldn't have asked for a better big brother.
"Do you want to know if it is a little dude or dudette?" Dr. Whale asked. Emma was seriously tempted, she looked to her husband and saw that he was feeling the same way. They met eyes and had a silent conversation and squeezed each other's hands.
"The temptation is so strong but we want to be surprised." Killian said.
"Please Mom and Dad!" Henry pleaded.
"Sorry kid, gonna have to wait like the rest of us!" Emma said.
"I for one am glad you are waiting. So few people do anymore. It's so much more exciting that way. I'll get you copies of these pictures and then we will get you on your way." Dr. Whale said.
"Make an extra set for me!" Snow said.
Later that evening they were all sitting in her parent's living room looking at the ultrasound pictures. Regina, Zelena, Belle, and the kids had all come over for dinner.
"What sort of magic is this?" Regina asked looking at the pictures.
"I wish I had gotten one of these done!" Belle said.
"You and me both!" Zelena agreed.
"Well the question of the hour…who does it look like?" Regina said.
"Emma!" Belle said.
"Killian!" Killian said.
"I think it's a good mix of both of them!" David said.
"Mom!" Henry said.
"It's absolutely gorgeous so obviously Emma." Killian said.
"I was going to say the same thing about you!" Emma said.
"You two are revolting!" Regina said. "I can't believe you didn't find out what it is! How will we buy you gifts for your shower?"
"Oh you guys don't have to…"
"Oh don't even for one second think I'm not planning you a shower missy!" Snow said.
"Well you will just have to buy neutral colors like green or yellow." Emma said.
"Yellow is so not a neutral color!" Killian added.
"Yes it is!" Emma and Snow argued back.
"No it's not!" Killian and David said together.
The two sides looked to other members of their family for support and a full out debate ensued over the color yellow which turned into how would they paint the nursery which turned into laughs and good memories. Emma was so thankful that she had found her family and that her baby would be surrounded by nothing but love and support from day one.

You attend your first SAMCRO party at the clubhouse where Herman has transferred from Tacoma. He leads you in, hand in hand and as soon as you enter the bar area is when you spotted all the crow eaters. Along with the porn stars, they look way more prettier than you even though if its pounds of make up and limited to no clothing options.
“We are a long way from home. Well I am” You say while looking around and stopping in your tracks.
Herman looks behind him and doesnt see you at his side. He looks to where you have stopped and came walking towards you.
“Whats wrong?” He asks looking to you
“Nothing” You snap yourself away from looking at the woman practically advertising their goods.
He pulls you to his side, his arm is wrapped around your neck as he kissed the side of your head and leads you to the other members of the club.
“Guys, I want to introduce you guys to my old lady y/n” Herman introduces you to some of the guys.
“Good god you are incredibly gorgeous. Why are you with this asshole?” The man with the intense blue eyes asks.
“You must be Tig” You say while letting out a slight chuckle and squeeze Hermans hand for reassurance.
“Oh you have heard about me” He says as he shakes your hand
“Only the better things” You reply sarcastically. He smiles and toasts his drink to you. He walks away from the crowd and gets his favourite crow eater.
“Happy, Juice, Bobby, Chucky, Opie, Piney, prospect Miles and Chibs” Herman introduces you while they give a little wave and smile.
“Chibs, Scottish right?” You ask looking to him
“Aye, you familiar with Scotland?” He asks leaning on the bar.
“Yeah, spent some time there while I was younger with my parents” You tell him while he gives you an interested expression
“What part of Scotland?” He asks in complete curiosity. Herman is loving the way the guys are making you feel right at home and you are getting along with his brothers.
“Glasgow, my dad was the Uni’s professor” You tell him while he is clearly impressed with your dads profession.
“How about you? What part of Scotland you from?” You ask while taking a beer from Hermans hand
“Lanarkshire but moved to Ireland later” He replies and looks to the door. He sees Clay, Gemma, Jax and Tara come into the club.
Clay and Jax go to Herman and give him a hug. While Gemma does the same and gives him a peck to the cheek. Tara gives him a side hug.
“Clay, Jax, Gemma, Tara. I want you to meet my old lady y/n” He introduces you to them.
You shake the hand of Clay as he leans in to give you a peck to the cheek while Jax does the same thing. Tara shakes your hand while Gemma smiles and pulls you in for a hug along with a peck as well.
“Nice to meet you sweet heart” Gemma says making you feel welcome to the new family
“You come here with Kozik from Tacoma too? Or did you wait until he got settled?” Tara asks out of curiosity
“No, I waited. I wanted to finish out the year of work before I came here. So I let him come here and get settled with the house and everything” You tell her while sitting with Gemma and Tara at a table across from where the guys are sitting at the bar.
“What type of job did you have?” Gemma asks looking to you.
“Elementary school teacher. Grade fives and sixes” You reply while Herman smiles because he is pretty proud he is a good woman on his side
“Wow, how did you meet Kozik?” Tara asks
“Uh, um” You try to remember the place you met Herman but drawing a blank. You look to Herman right away and he couldnt believe you forgot
“The grocery store” He reminds you while the memory finally comes to mind
“Right the place with all the food and crap” You say while the others get a good chuckle
“Kozie, ye have a good woman” Chibs says as he claps his back
Some blonde begins to eye Herman from across the room, tall, long legs, pretty and long hair that came down her back. You dont like how she is looking at him. You look to Herman and he doesnt notice a thing at all. You continue talking with Gemma and Tara getting to know each other. You get up from you chair and walk to the bar to get more drinks.
“What is a guy like that doing with a scab like you?” The blonde asks as soon as she gets in front of your face and spills the drinks you had in your hands on you.
“You fucking dirty whore” You say while wiping the beer from your face and neck
Herman, Jax and Opie get up quickly but you wave them off while they sit back down. Well except for Herman, he remains standing. She walks away and out of the club.
“What the fuck is her problem?” You ask while keeping your eyes on the door in hopes that she will come back inside.
“She sees what she cant have and thinks she is entitled to whatever she pleases” Tara says while looking to you and telling you how she is because she knows all to well.
“You need to” Gemma is about to give some advice
“Show that fucking cunt he isnt free fucking dick, I know. Piss me right the fuck off” You cut off Gemma and repeat the other old ladies words of advice back in Tacoma.
Over the next couple weeks have gone by with ease, you got hired at the school as a teacher assistant for now and waited until you can get a full time position. You didnt mind about the wait, just as long as you were working and being busy throughout the day then it was just perfect.
“Hey babe” Herman says once you enter the house from work
“I am really happy to see you” You tell him and give him a kiss to the lips. Every time you would kiss him after a days of hard work is when you just melted. It was like as if the stress of the day just melted away after each and every kiss.
“Party at the club tonight, wanna go?” He asks as he slowly pulls away from you.
“Sure, I could use this as an excuse to get drunk” You tell him as you smile to him
You begin to get ready for the party, you wore dark denim skinny jeans, your favourite top that showed the right curves and booties to complete your outfit.
“Of course porn whores are here” You say as you get off the bike
“Dont worry about them, Im here with you and your here with me” Herman says and places his hand in yours as he leads the both of you inside.
As the night went on you were having a good time, had fun talking with Chibs and Tara. Juice joined in on the conversation while Herman was out side with Clay and Bobby. You head out to join in on hanging out with your man.
Until you saw Ima flirting with Herman, him trying to get her off of him and walking away from her. Juice telling her to back off, Bobby doing the same until he saw you. He stops from doing anything, Herman turns as well and he comes to you.
“Thats fucking it” Is all you say while walking past Herman and him trying to stop you but you push away.
“Stay the fuck away from my BOYFRIEND!!” You growl stating that Herman is yours while shoving her to the ground.
Everyone around stops what they were doing and look to you and see what is going on. You help her on her feet, she slaps you and you step away while holding your face. Its stings but its enough to get you pissed.
“Thats for trying to get with MY OLD MAN” You pull yourself together as you grab her and spun her to make her face you while back handing her hard to the face.
“Thats for flirting with him right in front of ME” You slap her once more as she falls to the ground and you pull her on her feet again.
“Thats for, I dont know. I just felt like doing that. Stupid whore” You punch her square in the face
“You dont deserve any better, what you work as is all that you deserve and thats it” You tell her as she lays on the ground
You walk past Herman and went into the clubhouse. You walked past the people in the bar area and went to the bathroom.
“Getting tired of this shit” You mutter to yourself as you try to calm yourself down.
Someone knocks on the door and you open it slightly and see Herman standing on the other side. You let him in.
“Are you alright?” He asks as he takes your hand in his and making sure that nothing was broken
“No, Im far from alright. Im getting tired of proving your mine and getting my point to the others. Im tired of this shit Herman” You tell him while trying to contain the sob that wants to escape your mouth.
“What are you saying?” He asks in complete fear that you are going to leave him for good. He fears he is going to pick up the pieces when you’ll leave him
“Im saying your sleeping on the couch” You tell him as you walk out of the bathroom, across the bar and out the door.
“Take me home?” You ask Juice as he nods and starts his bike. He tosses you his helmet and drives out of the lot.
He stops in your drive way, you get off and take the helmet off to hand it back to Juice.
“Want me to stay?” He asks raising his voice so he can be heard over his bike
“No, I’ll be fine. Go back and keep an eye on him for me” You tell him as he gives you a nod. He backs out of the drive way and head back to the club house.
You walk up to the front door, dig around your purse in search for the keys and finally take them out to unlock the door. You turn on the lights, walk into the living room and look around at the many pictures of the both of you looking incredibly happy. You pulled out the photo albums that contained more pictures of the both of you.
You hear a bike pulling into the drive way and goes off.
You are sitting on the floor in the living room, flipping through the pages of the photo album and remembering all the great times. Herman walks in and sees his old lady on the floor. He has a smile on his face as he watches you look through the pictures.
“That one is my favourite. That was the night when you agreed to be my old lady and that was the happiest day of my life” Herman breaks the silence, you look up from the picture with tears forming.
“Im sorry” You say while breaking down and couldnt control the sobs. Herman rushes to your side and pulls you into his arms.
“No babe. You have every right. Just like Tacoma, you did what you needed to do” He says as he kisses the side of your head.
“Honestly that turned me right on” He says as he chuckles
“You would be” You pull away from him and wipe away the tears as you smile
“And just like Tacoma. I would never leave you for anyone else, I would never do anything to hurt you in any way. I am all yours and yours only. I love you” He says as he tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
“I love you too. I guess I just got tired of proving something to the other women that you are mine and they cant have you. I just had to reassure myself that this isnt Tacoma and I got to get used of it all over again. Im sorry for leaving like that” You tell him as your foreheads are touching and your hands are wrapped around his neck.
“Its fine really, you really scared me when you said you were getting tired of this shit. I thought you were going to leave me” He says in a hushed tone
“Honestly, thats what I was thinking of doing but looking at all the memories we have together. I couldnt and cant” You tell him looking to his eyes that are beginning to form tears.
“I am so happy you didnt. I love you so much” He says as he kisses you.
It finally hit you. You couldnt leave the man you come to love, couldnt break his heart and couldnt hurt his feelings all because you got tired of crow eaters trying to take your place. You knew that they didnt stand a chance with him because he wouldnt touch any of them because he is loyal to you. And you are loyal to him. You made a promise that day when you agreed to be his old lady and you werent going to break that promise. Not now. Not ever.
