I keep thinking about how you said the gang will pretty much take Chazz in after he finds out and keep imagining a scene like this
https://youtu.be/zFr_uosNXpo?si=J8OdwjN-lGF478pH
Chazz: I just...wanna keep everyone safe.
Jaden: Same...and that includes you too.
Chazz: What?
Jaden: Yeah gotta make sure you're safe too Chazz, you're family now.
Chazz voice cracking: Oh...huh...*trying desperately not to cry.*
Ya pretty much. I think this little tournament they are all at will turn into its own arc.
Jaden tells Chazz. He and Jesse stay with Jaden’s family. But during the final duel of the tournament something happens.
It’s the final duel and of course it’s come down to Jaden and Yugi. (The tournament had different levels I’m not sure yet is the DM crew was participating or spectating. But a Duel against the King of Games is the prize for the winner of the tournament. A shot at the title)
But some magic happens that splits reality.
Jaden sees Yugi shatter and screams “Dad!” Which is how the rest of the Gx cast find out who Jaden is.
At the same time
Yugi sees Jaden shatter and thinks he lost his son.
Cue the Gx cast working on their side and the DM cast working on theirs trying to find and fight the Big bad to put the two sides back together.
This forces the Gx crew to pull their weight as Jaden is distraught at seeing his dad shatter, and then seeing his whole family is gone.
Jesse and Chazz are both trying to help him through the panic. Jesse goes to take charge, (hes a good leader and naturally steps into the role in the Dark World) but Chazz stops him “the slacker is on the verge of a break down. You focus on him, I’ll take care of the others.” Chazz rallies the others.
There is some shock and hurt feelings about “waaan Jaden didn’t tell us :(“ Chazz is the one that yells at them to get their act together. We’re in a crisis now, hurt feelings later.
Mind you Jim and Axel were surprised but are taking care of business. They didn’t know Jaden as long and honestly it’s more surprising they didn’t figure it out given everything that happened in the Dark World.
Some of the others are upset but get over it. Some need to talk to Jaden to clear the air. And some are just mad. But none of that can happen right now because Jaden is super out of it and they are in a crisis.
On the DM side
They are furious.
At first they thought Jaden was gone. And that nearly broke Yugi. But when they realized the other kids were gone as well and that the air reeked of Magic. Well it’s a villain that they can beat the breaks off of. And hopefully that will bring Jaden and the others back.
They are quite brutal in their efficacy. If anything has happened to Jaden or the other kids the villain isn’t walking away.
It’s to soon after the Dark World for them not to be in a hard panic right now.
I have a few ideas but this is in its infancy as an arc.
But at the end of the
Chazz and Jaden are together outside of the Manor. Everything is back to normal and Chazz is thinking about where he can go next. The league isn’t starting up for another month and he’s still out of cash. He can’t stay here now that the tournaments over.
Jaden walks over and sits down with him and tanks him for taking charge when Jaden was out of it. That he didn’t know what he would do if he lost anyone.
And Chazz finally gets it. The pressure they had put on Jaden for years the stress he’s been under. He gets it. He just spent however long it took for Jaden to get his feet back under him playing that role. It wasn’t fun being the leader everyone turns to.
“I just…wanted to keep everyone safe.” He feels worried having Jaden thank him. How many times had they just expected Jaden to do this and never thanked him?
Jaden nods because he understand that statement. But he also remembers Chazz doing something stupid and risking where they almost lost him. “Same…that includes you.”
Chazz is suprised. What is Jaden talking about right now.
But Jaden just rest a hand on his shoulder and smiles “ya got to make sure your safe to Chazz. Your family now.”
And Chazz’s brain must have misfired because what?
And Jadne just laughs. “I told my Dads about you back in our first year. About your brothers and all the crap they put on you. Oto-san wanted to ruin their business but I made him wait since I didn’t want anything to affect you. But we decided that if you wanted it, you would always have a place here. And after everything we’ve been through. Everything you just did for us. How can I not call you family.” He looks back over to just see Chazz in tears. He gives him a warm smile and wraps his arm around his shoulder. “Come on. Let’s go home. Dad’s waiting for us.”
And this is how Chazz became a permeant resident at Kaiba Manor.
Mind you the family had already decided that was Chazz’s room and that he was staying from the moment he walked into the house. They had known about the kid for years and Jaden basically acted like Chazz was his brother. They were just waiting to make the offer. Then everything went upside down, but hey we got here anyways.

Hi yes I need you to know that your analysis on Jaden and Yusei (June 16, 2022, idk if you’ve done multiple on them but that’s the one I’m talking about) is the realest thing I have EVER read and you’re so right and you should say it MUCH louder that is the greatest take op it’s amazing and I’m screaming /pos
Jaden is my favorite character like,,,, ever, and you have nailed him I’m going bonkers
Another thing, I love your Groupchat AU but you have made me become aware that there is???? Another???? YGO show????? I was like who on God’s Green Earth is Yudias and then Google attacked me with information. I still remember. When Vrains was new. To me Vrains is still new. It came out 6 years ago. I feel old. I am not okay. I have yet to acknowledge the existence of Sevens and will continue to do so with Go Rush. Oh I got off-topic, whoops-
Anyways, love your Groupchat AU but I saw the one part with the Eldritch language that Jaden and Yuya are both fluent in and I humbly request more of their dynamic???
I had an epiphany last night, they’re so similar I’m actually losing my mind. All I can think about is that one audio of Batman and that girl on the swings and it’s like “They got their weapon, I got cheated out of my childhood” “I know what that’s like.” “You do don’t you?” Tell me that’s not them I am dying /pos
Much love <3
Oh my gosh, thank you! <3
Jaden and Yusei, my beloved blorbit. The painfully monstrous and the painfully human. The narrative foils of all time. Jaden Yuki, the creatchur autism boi of all time. <3 I need to write about them more.
I know what you mean about the new shows. I'm still a ways off from watching them, but I still want to remember they exist but keep forgetting. What do you means vrains is six years old??? (<- was not even a yugioh fan when vrains was airing) You're telling me there's probably going to be new one after that??? That the days start coming and they don't stop coming?????
Shoutouts to the sevens and go rush fans. They are the mightiest of soldiers. I know nothing about their shows but I'm hesitantly penciling them into the groupchat au anyways because I have seen maybe three clips but I know this funny little alien guy is near and dear to my heart.
Obviously there's a bit of a shift between Vrains and the Sevens era, being made for new audiences, a little tone shifting (which we LOVE, because any franchise that stays the same forever is no bueno.) and that makes it easy to group the first six shows into one group. But I also think there's a fascinating dialogue between shows 1-3 and shows 4-6. I didn't realize it until I was a good way into Arc-V, but each of the second trilogy protagonists sorta reflects the first three.
With Yuma and Yugi, it's very purposeful, a stated "return to form" with the chipper kid and his ghost companion who lives in his special necklace. And when I was gushing over Yusei in 5Ds, I got a lot of people saying "Man, you're going to love Yusaku." They're both the rbf hacker protags who fight the government. Lots to love.
But Jaden and Yuya????? Did not imagine I would come out of Arc-V going "omg they're foils. They're the same story through a different lens. They need to TALK to eachother and bond over their shared experiences."
Even leaving out my pet theory of "Zarc Was An Incarnation Of Jaden In The Original Timeline", they're just so. *clenches fist* The childhood trauma of being a weird kids and masking with an overly bubbly personality only to learn the great anger they've been trying to hide is powerful enough to rip apart reality and they're secretly harbingers of destruction.
By the end of GX, I think Jaden has wonderfully come to term with that. By the end of Arc-V, I think Yuya hasn't.
Their dynamic in the gc AU is very much to me Yuya is still struggling with Z-arc stuff, but not saying anything about it because that'd be weird, so he just kinda frets about it until he hits a breaking point and Jaden gets to offer his advice on dealing with all this.
I am so interested in exploring this that it actually got me started writing fic again,,, which I haven't done in like a year, so wish me luck. I'll keep y'all updated :)
Angst aside, they're also just. One braincell between them. Theatre kid and guy who has never once acted natural in his entire life. Kid making a scene at a Waffle House while his friend slowly eats the entire menu and offers suggestions. Jaden is a pokemon fan and Yuya is a kingdom hearts girlie, I've decided this, and they takes turns infodumping to each other. Jaden summons duel spirits so Yuya can ride around on Hiphippo even when he's not dueling. They trade funny things they've heard their dragons say. They're eldritch and inhuman and best friends, your honor.

for the ask game: mr judai jaden yuki⁉️ and/or edo aster phoenix if you feel like it!
tyyy !!!i just did jaden (also using dub names bc thats what ive watched 👍)
first impression - fun fact gx was technically the first ygo show i ever watched! i was over at my best friends house and they showed me the first episode of the show way back in like middle school. my first impression of jaden (after that was one of the most awesome theme songs ever. this show is gonna be amazing) was woah. he is the most protagonist ever and funny and cool
impression now - ough. my son. he has witnessed the horrors…,,,, (ive just started s4 so right now hes in his i wont interact with anybody bc I dont want to get them hurt again moment which I mean. Totally makes sense but him being so blank and distant makes me :( i miss when he was happy and card games were fun…..)
favorite moment - hmm. not really a moment but i love how often he is just fighting his friends brothers. zane, chazz’s brothers, nightshroud/atticus etc etc
idea for a story - i need more interactions btwn him and yugi so bad especially with yugi being a sort of mentor to him. i think itd be funny if kaiba was like there is weird card magic going on at my school and i dont want to deal with it. yugi you go figure out what the problem with this kid is
unpopular opinion - hmm idk if this is an Unpopular opinion but i lovee how he was voice acted in the dub<3. i liked his little jokes and quips and stuff too
favorite relationship - him and syrus :] platonically or romantically they mean a lot to me
favorite headcanon - he loves to fish! additional favorite. he is a very good artist and ends up drawing a lot of art for duel monsters cards in the future :]

Ranting About Boruto And Naruto...
Alot of Naruto fans, especially the older ones who remember watching this anime on TV, are not too happy about Boruto existing. And this isn't even about the character but as the story as a whole. I was one of those fans even before I finished the Naruto manga (anime is still unfinished). Even hearing the name was a strange concept and it didn't help that the name Boruto almost sounds like Naruto!
But Boruto as a character just pissed me off. Everything I heard about him irritated me to the highest level. A genius boy, living in a loving home, in a peaceful village and yet he was unsatisfied? He was so confident about him being the best and never having to truly train but yet thought that his father was useless? He does know that his father stopped the war almost single handedly right?
It got to the point whenever I talked about Naruto and someone brought up Boruto I kinda glossed over it and usually ended the conversation with a "I don't like overconfident op character straight out of the gate".
I couldn't understand why there was another series. How could you continue with this when Naruto himself achieved everything he wanted. How do you make a more sympathetic character than Naruto who was abused physically and mentally by everyone around him and this kid still had the balls to be overconfident while knowing that his dream was practically unachievable because everything was against him? HOW DO YOU TOP THAT?!
Byyyyyyy... making that kid be compared to his father over and over until he hates his father while loving him and looking up to him. It was to gain profits. Anything with the name Naruto usually will sell no problem so why should this be different.
I can say that I saw Boruto as a continuation of Naruto. And this, is the wrong mindset to have when getting into Boruto: Naruto Next Generation.
My gateway anime was Yu-Gi-Oh! I adored the plot and story line along with the interesting characters and their contributions to said story. And, when I heard about another series after the one i finished watching, I went into GX with the wrong mind set.
I saw GX as a continuing story from the YGO! World instead of it's own narrative. I watched it purely to see how Yugi was fairing. Was he devastated by Atem's absence and how was his friends now? Not for the story it was giving me. When I realized that it wasn't Yugi's story but someone else's I refused to continue watching.
Fast forward a few months I finally got into a different mindset. I saw GX as a stand alone tale from its predecessor about a boy named Jaden and his way and life through the antagonists around him. Watching the story without wanting to see Yugi's influence on this story, honestly made me kinda hate the first season since that was were most of the hints about the DM series showed up in.
Now GX is one of my favorite series through about the whole YGO! World. Closely followed by Arc-V.
Boruto is the GX of Naruto. It's a separate story about a boy who has to make his own name and leave his own mark in a world that his father before him made, which is kinda hard to do when the pressure of being the kid of the strongest ninja in the world is kinda weighing him down.
Most fans compare the two characters as if they are one persona. But here's the thing. Boruto and Naruto have their own stories.
Naruto grew up in hate. He, himself, hated. He grew up with different experiences and emotions than that of Boruto. He had no friends. Came home to an empty house. Didn't understand the idea of love. Family and friends were an unknown concept. Romantic love was an entire different ball of wax that he couldn't differentiate between since he'd never been shown it before. He played pranks to gain attention from anyone. He didn't want to be shouldered to the back of the herd. He may have had people he pulled pranks with but it more partners in crime. He didn't know where he came from. Why people hated him. Why he was alone.
His story was about becoming someone. He craves being noticed so he made his goal to be hokage. His story was about showing all those that scuffed at his dream that will power and precerverence was enough to achieve it. Hell he's still genin as the Hokage.
Narutos story was easy to understand. He was the underdog of society. Not even his own teammates wanted him or even believed in his dream. He wanted to be the best of the best and did so by ...bullshitting his way through because 9-Tails and prophecies. But basically at the end of Naruto he had everything. Found the love of his life, has two great kids (while possibly having a crisis because he doesn't see himself as a good father (which does not really help with boruto and his thing)), became hokage, essentially achieved god status, made his mom and dad proud, and took down 3 bad guys that tried to destroy the world with the help on his best friend.
Boruto... Boruto's tale is actually just as easy to understand and empathize as Naruto's.
I can say that theres one person in our lives that we get compared to. Hell for some there's more than 3. It could be a friend. A family member or even a co worker. And it sucks. Like fuck is it emotionally draining and psychologically breaking never hearing your name but as someones achievement.
"Naruto's son", "Son of Naruto's", "Hokage's offspring". God would that get annoying really fast.
Boruto's coming of age story is embracing that he is his father's son but also has his own title. That he's Boruto Uzumaki and his father's achievements are not his own.
Boruto reacts like all kids do when not being noticed as their own person (you guys forget that he is 12). But all his pranks aren't to get anyone's attention. It's to gain Naruto's attention. When he tries to cheat in the choujin exams he did it so that his dad could finally see him. He wanted to be known as his own person.
I don't want to say that he wanted to be seen as an adult because he still does want to be treated as a child and be doted upon. But being raised to hear all the stories that Naruto did, Boruto wants to make his own just as his father. Naruto has does some insane things at Boruto's age so Boruto wanting to do the same is not that hard to realize.
Honestly its refreshing to see the main character try not to be the best but just wants to float through life. It's like Borutos story is saying that you can be you and you don't have to become part of the crowd.
And I like Boruto and the hidden different themes that it brings while twisting around on past ones that haven't been exploring yet in the Naruto universe.
I don't see Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki as a twisted former Team 7 but as their own team that steps out in it's own shoes. Boruto isn't Naruto just like Mitsuki isn't Sasuke and Sarada isn't Sakura. Sarada's an actual character relative to the plot!
And the biggest difference in Boruto and Naruto is Naruto himself.
In Naruto, Naruto seems like the goofy dumbass kid in the back of the class that gets called out on for causing mischief. He's the kid that stares at the notes on the overhead and looks down at his own and wonders how the fuck does his notes have information on history when he's in Physics. He's the kid that doesn't know jack shit about the subject at hand but somehow passes all his classes just enough to make it to the next level. He's the one that's doesn't get dates no matter how hard he tries but has mountains of chocolate on Valentine's Day from multiple people he's help in passing. He's dumb as a brick but is some how on the top 10 list of hawtest guys in school, just barely winning against kakashi and sasuke.
Naruto in Boruto is entirely different. He's the goddamn soccer mom, bringing all the snacks and embarrassing his son as he screams from the stands with his daughter on his shoulders as she does the same and his wife tries to calm down both of them. He's the wise teacher in your school that says all the right life lessons at the right time and genuinely cares about each and every student. He's the friend you call last during an emergency, when no one else answers, and shows up with chocolate and warm hugs. He legit has a fucking sword go right through him, scaring the shit out of Sarada, and just pulls it out without flinching and laughs as it heals instantly when he sees Sarada almost hyperventilate.
So I like Boruto the anime and the character. Boruto himself has come along way from the first episode. And I really was invested in this character in the beginning.
Yeah I did loath him. Most of the time I had to walk away when he talked about his dad or told him off. Though I did route for him and agreed with a few of his shit.
Like Naruto not showing up for any of his kids birthday? Bad parenting. But I do get where Naruto was coming from.
I got Boruto (even if I didn't want to). He was more than a genius asshole. He loves his mother and his sister. He fights for his friends without hesitation. He faces the mantle his dad has and is ready to throw down at anyone who thinks he's anything less than he actually is. He's beyond ready to do some good and really wants to help, even if it's his father (especially if it's his father).
I legit laughed when he turned to Sarada and said her father was awesome. It was a nice callback to when Sarada said the same to him about his father and Boruto just called her crazy. Boruto was beyond endearing when he interacted with Sasuke (when his idol kicks his ass and tells him he's weak will forever be my favorite thing ever).
Yes Boruto is fast to judge other people's feelings about him. But that actually says more about how he views the people's thoughts about him. He sees himself as ...pointless. He's shackled by the mindset of having a parent that's a war hero. That every achievement and/or goal he puts his mind to is futile against the numerous badges Naruto has under his belt.
And I'm beyond hoping that this kid does some wicked shit that scares his father.
The pacing in Boruto is actually slightly better. Like instead of entire 5 arcs about a war. This series kinda shows you the bad guy and then just goes until a new one shows up. Though many others do like having a set bad guy from the beginning and the fact that Boruto has now killed two of the three bad guys introduced in the beginning 66 episodes through...is slightly bad. But at the same time Naruto didn't have a set bad guy in the first one so hey.
And this series has a long way to go. As of today it has 102 episodes. And I'm going to be reading the manga soon too.
All in all, Boruto doesn't really deserve all the hate that this series gets (I haven't even touched on my favorite characters).
I didn't like Hinata, still don't, but I adore their children. I still ship Naruto and Sasuke, Sakura and Ino, Naruto and Sakura, and Sai with Sakura/Naruro but I enjoy the interaction between the parents and their children. Its endearing.
I wouldn't have even watched this series if I wasn't so invested in Himawari. I love my sunrise child.

Things I’ve Learned from Fictional Characters: Yu-Gi-Oh Edition!
I’m going to do Yugioh (Duel Monsters) and GX (up to mid season 2). I will possibly add more later, but feel free to add on yourself, as I’m not going to do everyone, just the ones who are important to me (because wow there is A LOT of characters).
Yugioh (Duel Monsters)
Yugi Muto: Just because you are scared doesn’t mean you can’t be brave.
Yami Yugi/Pharaoh Atem: It may be easier to fight for other people than for yourself, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t worth fighting for.
Joey Wheeler: When you find something or someone to be passionate about, don’t stop no matter what.
Tea Gardner: Work hard and never give up on your dreams.
Ryou Bakura: Sometimes you need help fighting your inner demons.
Mai Valentine: It’s important understand the difference between being your own person and being all alone.
Mokuba Kaiba: Even when our heroes are flawed, we can still become better people because of them.
Seto Kaiba: Sometimes, pretending not to care really just makes you care more.
Mako Tsunami: The ones we love never truly leave us; they are alive inside of us, always.
Maximillion Pegasus: Grief makes people do truly terrible things.
Ishizu Ishtar: Never give up on the people who mean the most to you.
Marik Ishtar: You can always choose to be a better person, no matter what your past looks like.
Odion Ishtar: Sometimes, the people you need to accept you are so blinded in their own inner struggle that they don’t even see your need.
Dartz: True wars do not end in peace but in the destruction of all sides.
Rafael & Alister: With the wrong guidance, a person trying to fix themselves will end up broken in a different way.
Valon: Getting to know some people will involve understanding why other people find them important.
Mahad: There exist good reasons to do bad things.
Mana: Try hard but do it your own way.
Yugioh GX
Jaden Yuki: Believing in yourself and abilities doesn’t mean you cannot believe in others too.
Alexis Rhodes: Don’t let anyone under value you because of your gender; the only one who anyone should have control over is themselves.
Aster Phoenix: It’s a good idea to reevaluate your relationships with other people from time to time, just to make sure they are still beneficial and healthy for you.
Atticus Rhodes: Often the people who seem like they have it all together on the outside are drowning underneath.
Bastion Misawa: You can plan for every eventuality and still lose.
Chazz Princeton: A person who has no experience with people caring for them will not know how to show that they care, which doesn’t mean they don’t.
Chumley Huffington: Losing on your own terms can sometimes feel like winning.
Pr. Lyman Banner: Sometimes, believing in people means pushing them farther than they think they can go.
Syrus Truesdale: You don’t have to compete with anyone but yourself.
Tyranno Hassleberry: If you want to know if people actual care about you, see how they react to your failures.
Zane Truesdale: The most important thing you can give another person is your respect.

ABOUT: YUKI, Jaden (YGO GX)
Tumblr media
“Growing up means you have to be prepared to accept all consequences.”
Jaden Yuki, known as Judai Yuki in the Japanese version, is the protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, as well as the reincarnation of The Supreme King. At the end of the third season, he fused his soul with Yubel, his favorite card from childhood, with the use of "Super Polymerization" to purge her from the influence of The Light of Destruction. He is headstrong, optimistic, fun loving, and a talented Duelist who loves Dueling as much as he cares for his friends.
He attended Duel Academy and was put in the Slifer Red Dorm, the dorm with the least privileges, due to his poor grades in the entrance exam. As time goes on, he becomes the academy's best Duelist and saves the world and the academy from many threats such as the evil Kagemaru, The Light of Destruction possessed Sartorius, the deranged and manipulative Yubel, and finally the malicious spirit Nightshroud. After three years, he graduates from Duel Academy and pursues his own journey to improve himself.
PROFILE
Age: 15-17 (end of series)
Height: 165 cm (5.4 feet)
Weight: 55 kg (121 lbs)
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Orientation: Undecided, but…*hc*
Appearance
Jaden's usual outfit consists of the standard Slifer Red uniform, unbuttoned, and a black shirt underneath. In the fourth season, the normal Slifer Red white pants were replaced by dark jeans. A Deck box is strapped above his waistline, largely hidden beneath the lower rim of his jacket.
Voice/Mannerisms
In the Japanese version, Jaden rarely uses honorifics, and his speech pattern
could be considered rude as a result, similar to Joey Wheeler's.
In the dub, Jaden has several catchphrases associated with him. He begins almost every Duel with the phrase "Get your game on!" and ends almost every Duel he wins by saying "That's game!" He also occasionally uses the phrase "Here goes something" when drawing in a desperate situation. Jaden tends to speak in stereotypical '90s slang, calling people "bro" and advising opponents to "chill." He is also noted for saying "A Duel's not over 'till the last card is played!" which is likely Jaden's way of expressing his belief in the Heart of the Cards.
In both the English and Japanese versions, Jaden will wink and point two fingers at a defeated opponent. In the dub, whenever Jaden wins a Duel, he says "That's game.”
Personality
Jaden is friendly, optimistic, laid-back, enthusiastic, kind, confident, funny
, and very passionate about Dueling. Jaden loves Dueling and believes that all problems can ultimately be solved through it. He keeps going no matter how hard things get or how hopeless it seems, with a few exceptions (though it doesn't take much encouragement for him to start fighting again), although he does sometimes doubt himself. He always shows respect towards his opponents, with a few exceptions, even complimenting them during a Duel.
Jaden shows little interest in areas outside of Dueling, which extends to his classes. When he chooses to attend them, he generally falls asleep. Despite his low grades, he is still regarded as one of Duel Academy's best Duelists. However, this attitude eventually shows itself as one of his greatest flaws, and causes him to be targeted by Mr. Stein. He shows a lack of knowledge in areas outside of Dueling, even showing in one instance that is unaware of what the term "fiancee" means, and forgetting that the holographic water will not drown him in another.
Jaden also seems ignorant of the dislike that other individuals have for him, as despite the obvious tension between the two, he considers himself to be good friends with Chazz Princeton. His carefree attitude and lack of thought get him into trouble occasionally, such as when he handed the Satellite Keys to Sartorius and still expected the latter to Duel him before using them. He occasionally shows signs of intellect, such as determining that Titan's Shadow Game was a fake, and figuring out that both Brier and Beauregard were the Duel Giant on another occasion.
One of Jaden's common traits is that he tends to make jokes or puns, even in some situations where it is not appropriate. Most of the jokes he makes are Duel-related but on a few occasions, he does make jokes at someone's expense. For example, he called Crowler "Cyclops" when the latter got struck in the eye with a tennis ball. Another example is when Jaden Duels The Society of Light controlled Alexis and she tells him to "Throw in the game" to which the former replies "The only thing I throw in is the towel on laundry day."
Jaden has a close bond with his cards, to the point where he has no problem with an opponent insulting him, but is angered when they insult his cards.
Headcannon:
-Favorite foods: Fried shrimp, Golden Eggwich, Fermented soybeans, though he’ll eat pretty much anything as if he were starving.
-Prior to DA, his club sport was track, which is why he is alright with running everywhere.
-Often speaks informally, almost to the point of being rude in Japanese terms.
-Has shown little interest in the affections of women and so far he feels more comfortable around other guys.
-Doesn’t really understand love yet, so he’s confused by his heart beating faster and other body reactions when he has feelings for someone.
-In the events after the Bonds movie, Jaden reflected that he found Yugi’s violet eyes beautiful and also liked Yusei’s hair and cheek marks, finding them striking.
-Loves to travel and sight-see, such as his backpack trip in Europe in the Bonds movie.
-Jaden tries to see the best in everyone and will never give up on a friend.
-When not at school, Jaden lives with his parents who own a bakery. As such he’s pretty talented at making bread when he has to.
-AU: Ancient Egypt: Jaden, known as Jyuudai, was a poor son of a baker and peasant at the same time Atem was Pharaoh.

YES. I love answering asks. Especially Yu-Gi-Oh! asks. I feel like a deity. Let’s do this.
Under a read more because I ramble.
2. Favorite character?
Starting off fierce. I’m not sure if this is for all of them or not so I’ll do the ones I’ve watched most or all of.
For DM it’s Mai, I just love her confidence and high standards so much; and she was also one of the first characters I ever saw. For 5D’s… it’s more difficult, but I might have to say Yusei. He has such a chill personality and I like that his devotion to his bonds is more “show” than “tell” like it is with other protags. As for Arc-V, probably the hardest, but if I had to just choose one I’ll have to pick Kachidoki Isao, one of the rivals Yuuya had early on who hadn’t seen his parents in years because his duel school was basically military school. I’ll leave it at that because answer one is getting waaaay too long. ^^
4. Favorite duel?
I’m bad at this. I have several.
DM holds claim to four: Yugi’s duel against Strings, his duel against the fake Kaiba, and Yami and Kaiba’s duels against Lumis and Umbra and Dartz.
My favorite duel of all time in 5D’s is Ruka, Rua and Jack vs. Aporia.
Arc-V is harder again. I’ll say Shun’s duel against the LDS trio. That was so awesome.
7. How many of the series have you seen?
I’ve seen all of DM (unless there were cut episodes I don’t know about, and minus the very end of Capsule Monsters), all of 5D’s (no thanks to 4Kids), and all of Arc V. I have seen maybe fifteen episodes of GX, ranging from the first one and a few of the beginning episodes with Jaden, Chazz and Asuka/Alexis to ones where he was murdering his friends as the Supreme King or being weirded out about Yubel. I have seen about a hundred episodes of Zexal, give or take, but couldn’t tell you many details, and that may not be accurate because I haven’t seen a lick of Zexal II. And I watched about 21 or 22 episodes of Vrains before I stopped because I couldn’t get into some parts of it.
13. Do you ship?
YES. YES I DO.
14. If so, what’s your favorite shipping?
DM: prideshipping, polarshipping, regalshipping.
GX: spiritshipping, fianceshipping, whatever Judai/Johan/Yubel is
5D’s: faithshipping, toolshipping, careshipping, scoopshipping, roseknightshipping
Zexal: sharkbaitshipping, whatever Kotori/Cathy is
Arc-V: bambooshipping, pendulumshipping, lustershipping, janushipping
Vrains: hotdogshipping
15. Favorite YGO fanfiction?
Oh no, I can’t answer this one properly. Not because it’s a secret, but because most all the ones I’ve read are really really good and I couldn’t pick just one.
There’s two Arc-V ones shipping Masumi Kotsu/Ray Akaba called Winter Storm and The Search by ghost_of_peppermint that are awesome and get honorable mention here in lieu of one all-time favorite fic.
Another good one for 5D’s is an AU called The Neo Domino Purge by CuteYami. Absolutely amazing, great with character development, and I even read the in-fic duels!
I don’t read as much fanfic for the older series as I do for the newer ones (it’s terrible of me) but those three are a good place to start from me!
18. Do you prefer the dub or the original?
I have very seldom watched two versions of the same show. For example, I’ve only ever seen the dub of DM so I prefer the dub, even knowing how silly and cut-down it can be. ^^ Arc-V is the opposite: I watched the entire thing subbed and prefer it that way, including being so annoying as to primarily use subbed names and ignore some of the… weirder… romanizations. 5D’s is the only one that I’ve seen both subbed and dubbed, and I have slowly come to prefer the original. I enjoy the nuance in the original that often gets cut down to one-note minimizing in English dubs at least.
21. Favorite protagonist?
Yusei, full stop. Though I thought he’d be a bit more motivated by revenge when his series started, I came to be swayed by his patience, his quiet demeanor, and his tireless fight against discrimination. I also love how he loves–he’s not quick to befriend people, but once he decides to protect someone he’s fierce about it, even if he’s not super emotional. (It may also help that I was fifteen when his series debuted and I was a little bit in love with him but don’t you dare judge me)
25. Headcanons you have?
I have a similar one for DM and GX where the casts are only able to come together and duel for the “greater good” so much because they’re constantly hosting high school-esque house parties and dances.
For 5D’s: the only way all the Signers could’ve possibly gotten as close and cuddly as they were from Dark Signer arc to pre-WRGP is if they were constantly over at Ruka and Rua’s house watching movies and cooking and tabletop dueling until they were all basically family.
My headcanon for Arc-V is that all the characters have the same therapist. She’s very well paid, but she has to listen to all of them over the course of the entire series, before, during, and after, and she is so very very stressed. That’s it, that’s the main one.
I don’t have any for Vrains because I only really really like Shoichi, and also 22/36 or whatever episodes, so sorry about that.
Thanks so so much for the ask! On to the next one now.
