The more I watch the more the trio feels so perfectly casted and I think the show is doing a great job at keeping things faithful while still turning stuff on its head and adding onto it when needed.

The books came out a long time ago so of course they would be dated and Rick himself will probably have thoughts on things and what he would have changed. So this is the perfect chance to bring his work to life through another medium while also giving it a new perspective and maybe make some things better.

Episode 5 was such a great one. They kept the frame of what happens while changing details. They gave us Grover talking to Ares and getting information from him and that not only gave us new informations in general on the situation but it also let us see more of Grover as a character and shined a light on how smart he is.

Percy and Annabeth still got to go through the tunnel of love but now we got to see Percy sacrificing himself so Annabeth can keep going. We saw the words he said about her the reason he picked her for the mission, get back at him. And Percy just wholeheartedly accepting it too.

The way he had no doubt she would save his mom but he still asked her to come back for him.

Percy saying "I'm okay" while Annabeth cried ?!?

She called him SEAWEED BRAIN! And then she threw away the chance of feeding into her pride and going back as a hero bc "he is different " and for the first time she feels like she can be too.

Percy is the first one that actually went and decided that he was going to break the cycle and he actually did in the end.

so I actually did condidered it at some point. I have absolutely nothing against polycule ships, and I do headcanon some characters as poly, so I was wondering hey, maybe I should consider Saria/Silence/Ptilopsis! I started by reading a few fanfictions, and I ended up with the conclusion "it's very cute"

and. that's all

I'm not against the ship, and I'm ok with it, but I just can't be into it - and the main reason comes from Ptilopsis herself. you see, she's such an amazing and complex character, and I ended up with a few headcanons about her. I'll explain it;

firstly, I can't decide whenever I want to imagine that Joyce does have romantic feelings for Olivia, or not. I don't want to say "she doesn't have them because of device #9" - she had proven a lot that she can feel things, she just can't express them well. so saying that she can't feel love is very wrong. but in any cases, I came with a conclusion; even if she was in love, she wouldn't even recognize it. my main example is with how seems to struggle to understand the concept of affection, and it's proven in her operator record:

it's taking place after Rhine Lab... is she doubting her friendship with Silence??* not saying she never considered Silence as a friend, but I think she's... unaware. it's like she can feel things, but can't process what she's feeling. so if she was in love, would she even know? does she think she's even able to feel love?

*(adding that it might just be a joke. in Silence's operator record, she does "register Silence as a friend". but it's because Silence said that Joyce was her friend. and when Silence reminds her again "you're my friend", she felt the need to confirm it? and she notes it in her diary, too. a diary where she writes things she doesn't want to forget. it's like she forgets that she's not just "Dr. Silence's assistant".)

and the second reason is, even if she was in love, even if she realized it... I don't think she would say it or want to engage in a relationship.

she knows that she's dying, and she cares a lot about Silence. she really does. but Olivia is going through a lot - Joyce knows that her death would cause a lot of pain for Olivia. because she's Olivia's friend - now imagine if she was Olivia's partner. that would cause way more pain. I don't think Joyce would allow this to happen, she wouldn't want. as she says, she wants them to have a happy ending, even if it means that Olivia has to be happy with someone else.

Ptilopsis is a very tragic character. love is a strong and beautiful feeling, and my god, you can write so much story about it. I can understand that people would want her to be in a relationship, after all, we all want her happy, and I wanr her happy too! but I'm a dumbass bound to "the scenario" and I tend to build headcanons and ships based on if it brings something interesting or not. and I think Ptilopsis is an amazing example of "to love is to want the person you love happy, even if it's without you".

and I also want to add that Joyce is happy either way! well, she says that she's satisfied with her life. it could have been better, but she doesn't mourn it. despite what device #9 brought in her life, it also gave her another view on life, and opened her eyes to things she never saw before. and she thinks it's suffisant

ANYWAY SO big tl;dr - they're cute and I don't mind it at all, but I can't ship them because it would bring nothing but pain when she'll be gone. and I fucking love drama and angst and bittersweet scenarios

#i want to note that im just explaining why i can't ship them #im not trying to convince anyone to agree with what i think #as i said scenario and character development and symbolism is something crucial to me if i want to be into a ship #and sometimes it's more interesting to just accept that a relationship isn't possible #ANYWAY Joyce is so interesting #(also I normalize platonic physical affection a lot)#(hugs or holding hands is to me something that should be normal between friends)#(so seeing Joyce so affective in the manhua just made me say “she cares so much”)#im done ranting ok #arknights #askiwi

Apropos of this post, rotating Imogen like a rotisserie chicken in my head re: leaning into the power to have knowledge vs. faith.

Faith, by definition, is an antonym of knowledge, as in it is only possible to have faith when you don't know for sure. If you know, then you just know; there is no place for faith in the absence of uncertainty.

Imogen was born with the power/curse of always being forced to know other people's thoughts. She never even had the opportunity to choose faith, because she simply couldn't. The circlet of course represents an escape from pain, but it is also a risk she has to take in not knowing -- a leap of faith. And she made that leap! But recent events have shaken her -- she's leaning back in towards knowledge and away from faith, both in her friends (as in, they lied and then almost died) and herself (as Allura said, "with knowledge comes the ability to make a difference" -- she doesn't trust herself to be able to make the difference that is needed without knowing, or at least thinks she will have a much better chance knowing). She knows that this will hurt her (literally) and her friends (figuratively -- she knows it's an invasion), but she now thinks it's on balance necessary to the fight.

(Side note, the past couple episodes have been heavy enough -- can you imagine how fucking dark it would have gotten if Ashton actually didn't have the ring or failed one more roll and just vaporized himself? Like how fucking much it would have fucked up Fearne and Imogen specifically?)

All of the above stands out sharper when juxtaposed against Orym, our resident Batman, who expresses that he has faith in all of them AND contingency plans for each of them. This is not, in my mind, a contradiction. He knows that he can't be sure, so of course he has plans, but I think at this point he does believe that his friends will (try to) choose to be the best versions of themselves that they can be, and he has faith in himself that he will do the best he can if they don't.

And god, I just think Imogen would envy that peace of mind so much.

Haha yes. Sweet baby faced smile juxtaposed upon the tank like body. Kinda emblematic of how he's always punched above his station in life but you can see that he's always been too young. And that he's had to grow up and take the responsibilities and the life of a man while still very much being childish.

I have a lot of affection for people that are made to grow up fast because while they are always serious you still can kind of see childish innocence to them at times that couldn't fully be purged despite circumstances and it kinda warms me. Which again, reminds me of Marc :)

Wow I Finally Watched Sunshine

What happens when you put Cillian Murphy and Chris Evans in close confinement on their way to send a bomb into the sun?

Did I mention the incredible Michelle Yeoh and Benedict Wong are apart of these space shenanigans?

Have I gotten your attention of this very underrated movie yet?

Sunshine came out in 2007 and I had never once heard or seen anything of this movie until a few days ago, While I was innocently scrolling through Disney+, This movie appeared.

Now, Being a huge fan of Chris Evans for many years and recently diving into the work of Cillian Murphy, I was already hooked.

But then you tell me this is a Sc-fi Psychological Thriller set in space?

NOW I REALLY AM HOOKED.

But this isn't just a 'For the scares and spooks' of space travel that film often portrays, This is a film ahead of it's time. A story that could be told in any year, Because this will always be relevant.

This movie makes you think.

What is beyond the stars? What would you do in these humanity-testing scenarios? What would you do when you've come face to face with not only the surface of the sun, but also your own heart?

A movie that questions your own humanity, A movie that has made you feel something so real that it makes your chest feel tight as if you're in that scenario, As if you're apart of a team with these people by your side day in and day out - That is a job well done.

While this movie did take a little bit to get into, it builds the suspence of what's really going on here. But everytime you think you'll look away, you reach for your phone - The movie does something that makes you need to rewind and go "Did they really just say that?"

And when you reach that moment.

There's no going back.

This movie was so incredibly different than anything I've experience for a while and As a thorough enjoyer of the Sci-fi genre in all different forms, This was a truly pleasant surprise.

i finally went to an NA meeting again (it's been two weeks maybe) and like a bunch of people greeted me and were like saying they were wondering if i was ok <3 and then i like announced im 3 days sober in the part of the meeting where they asked about milestones (and was literally shaking w anxiety after LMAO) and after the meeting some of the same people and also some i've never really talked to hugged me and congratulated me and they were just so sweet and genuine <33 like "the first days are the hardest, keep at it. come to the meeting tomorrow" etc. and i got a new keyring, i didn't even know that would happen :') it also just means a lot because i've been using while going to meetings for a while now and to finally be able to share that im actually trying not to use anymore and have people that care about me be proud of me. feels good feels organic thank you

actually if i’m being honest i don’t even think gaara would slow-roll into expressing physical affection. i think he’d think about it for a long long long time and then dive straight in, which makes sense to him but is very jarring to everyone who was not privy to his months of silent meditation on the subject. like he’d give kankuro a hug one day and not understand why kankuro immediately starts crying.

Today I saw someone I haven’t seen in years and she was asking about my brothers. I was telling her about my nieces and nephews and she cut me off because she had no idea my one brother had kids. And I knew very quickly why she had no idea. My brother and his wife are extremely limited in their social media usage and what they do post does not ever involve their children. And we don’t post photos of their children on our social media because they don’t want their kids’ faces all over the internet. Which is cool! But it is balagan that because something isn’t on the internet, someone immediately assumed it didn’t exist. How toxic is the world we live in? That’s bananas!

So daily reminder: not only is what you see on the internet usually someone’s highlight reel but there is also so much the internet won’t show you in general - the good stuff too! For as much as the internet is truly wonderful, it shouldn’t take precedence over real life. These magical air webs should not replace face to face human connection. The virtual world is not the only world.
