I would like it to be known that my 3 year long dream has come true and I got Powerless printed as a book.
When I first read Powerless, I was a cis, ablebodied, neurotypical lesbian, and it made me question the world around me.
As a gay, trans, disabled, autistic man, your story means even more to me than it did 3 years ago.
Thank you for your words. They’ve changed my life.

Oh my gosh, I cannot tell you the absolute wave of emotions that hit me when I read this. I am beyond moved that this story means enough to you to get a physical copy three years after you first encountered it, and a whole five years after I finished it! Powerless is the first story I ever wrote, and knowing this venty little world that my sixteen year old self created is still important to other people too makes it feel like I'm not there alone. New Psyche and everyone in it is still there for us, and always will be.
I'm so proud of you for growing into yourself, and I hope that, in whatever way you continue to flourish, this world I created for us and everyone like us will let you know that you always have somewhere you belong.

Sim Jaeyun, after living in london for 2 years with his ex girlfriend, Lee Chaeyoung, finally comes back to Korea to have a fresh start. That is... until he accidentally found you breaking down while eating at a local mcdonalds. You knew him by then, since he dated your best friend, and Jake knew you, being the best friend of his ex. So this is only an unexpected reunion, right? it's not like you two would secretly start hanging out to escape from all the struggling sides of life.

You— you didn't have everything, you didn't live in a luxurious household, don't eat steak for any meals, though you were thankful for all nice things that came along your way. You were more thankful for your parents who made their efforts to give you a good education, and so with that, you wanted to return their favors. They always did say "Reach where you want to be." and ever since then, aiming for law is definitely what you'll be reaching. Not caring for anything else, sticking to that one career and only that. But being too focused on the future didn't stop you from having fun in this lifetime. Having people who aims for the same goal makes it easier for you to live your life and still see the joy in the world with your own eyes.

Jake— never ever made any faults in life, he was always in troublemaking friend groups but stays the angel out of the rest. No wonder Isa had her eyes on him, he was sweet, gentle, and every girl wanted him. Just how jake wanted Isa the first day he had her eyes on her. Even with one pick up line he already had Isa in his fingertips, and he fell in love, hard. He was the happiest man when Isa reciprocated his feelings, and so with that, a healthy relationship that lasted a few months or so, until Isa decided that she wanted to start a life with him in London. She was excited, and he was too, knowing London would be a great place to get inspiration to writing more songs. Though things didn't go well from there, to the point it tore them apart. From wanting to find inspiration to losing it completely. Now he's back in his home country, wanting to start over, wanting to forget the memory he had there with Isa. Just hopefully, there would be progress along his way, and his passion to finally come back.

I saw your vent post about reading, and I get it! Hitting a book slump sucks, and I know there's nothing I can really say to make it better. I just wanted to let you know that I, for one, am majorly impressed with how many books you read! Honestly seeing your books read log makes me so happy, I love seeing your thoughts on your reads and it's one of my favourite things about your blog! I also know how it feels with the whole 'making your hobby feel like a commitment' kinda thing and I just wanted to let you know that I feel for you 💜💜 and I really hope soon you'll get a new fire for reading and will fall in love with another new and grand adventure!
good morning 🤍 this was so so sweet to wake up to; i really appreciate your kind words. 🧸
my pre-coffee self got really ramble-y this morning, so i put this under the cut! 💌
reading is a very solitary activity for me, and so i'm often in search of people to chat about books with/a bookish community, and it's just really nice to know that you enjoy seeing my thoughts on books i've read!
i was recently telling one of my friends that i feel like tumblr is the only place i feel like i can be most authentic in my thoughts/ramblings about books — just because it is my least ... influencer-y platform (unlike my book twitter, or bookstagram, or my proper book blog). i have a fair amount of people in the publishing industry, authors, etc. who follow me on my bookstagram + book twitter (although i'm over on my book twitter a lot less nowadays), and i never want to hurt anyone's feelings. i firmly believe that reviewers are for readers, but i also know that things we accidentally come across (or things we intentionally come across) can sting. and i don't mean this in the way that my comments on books are inauthentic, just that i'm more likely to only talk about the positive bits of a book on my bookstagram, etc — or i'll only highlight books that i truly love. tumblr has always been a very refreshing place for me, that is completely different from bookstagram and book twitter and my proper book blog, and i think being more intentional about coming back to tumblr was a really good choice for me, even if i'm not editing as much as i used to (if at all).
last night's vent post was just a culmination of a long day, and after aggravating an old injury, i was just very ... frustrated and upset. i think i've just been feeling like a bit of an ... imposter, really, on here + in my other bookish spaces, which is just very, very silly. and on some level, i sometimes (often) feel like i'm undeserving of the ARCs i get/partnerships i get/followings/etc. that i have, especially on bookstagram. it's all just very, very silly! i ended up calling a friend (who is very removed from bookish things and influencing things) and they said a lot of things that i needed to hear, which was really helpful.
i ended up putting the ARC i was struggling with aside for now — it's not out for a couple months, and read two books last night (another result of not sleeping well)! all things considered, i'm really not doing that poorly with the amount of ARCs i've got; it's more so the books i've been gifted that i'm struggling with, but that's okay! i'll get to them when i get to them — as my friend helpfully reminded me last night, none of this is that serious.
i think i'm going to try to read something different (maybe a play or an audiobook) next to see if that'll help me get back into the swing of things! and i think i'm going to give myself some grace with reading "fewer" books in april (hopefully finishing some annotation projects that i started earlier this year too), especially since i've got a lot of exciting things in coming up! maybe i'll do a reread of some favorites to remind me of why i love reading!
i'd love to know what you're currently reading / what books you've been loving lately / what your favorite reads are 🤍 and i hope you're able to separate your hobby from your commitments too, whether that's reading or otherwise!
this truly was just the sweetest message and i appreciate you dearly 🤍 x

I remember on Americas Next Top model some years ago there was a contestant who would clap back at criticism of her walk and say something like this is my walk and it’s going to make me famous. I know writers want to have their own distinct style. If your client disagreed vehemently with you and/or the editor about changes to be made to a manuscript , is there a point where you concede? How might you deal with a difficult client?
Well - first of all, on ANTM they would also routinely do things like force the girls to undergo extreme makeovers like getting half their head shaved and dyed or something without giving them a choice. While the models "star" on the show and are in the photographs, ultimately it is the whims of designers and photographers and megalomaniacal judges that they are beholden to.
When it comes to making books, we are all on the same team, and you & your book are the stars of the team. We are all trying to bring YOUR book to life -- we want you to write the best possible version of THE BOOK YOU WANT TO WRITE. Hopefully our suggestions, questions, whatever, are helping you get there.
So when agents and editors give feedback about your book, its generally not prescriptive. By that I mean, we don't like to say YOU HAVE TO DO XYZ or WE ARE CHANGING XYZ. A good editorial letter is much more like "have you thought about xyz?" "what makes xyz happen -- does it feel earned?" "this is unclear, that word has two meanings - can you clarify that?"
Editing is an interactive and iterative process. We are not making changes to your work that you just have to blindly accept - we are pointing out things that are not working or that we have questions about, things you may not have thought of, places where we stopped in confusion, etc. So that YOU can think about how to make changes, it can spark a discussion, etc.
We might have suggestions about ways to get to whatever the end goal is -- and you might or might not love the suggestions. But I would suggest you at least listen, let the advice or questions or whatever marinate in your brain, give them good consideration.
This is not a great time to lash out or "clap back" -- because often, your initial reaction when you get an editorial letter will be "so they hated everything????" (no) -- or "OMG WTF!" -- basically, you might be annoyed/pissed/hurt/whatever, but when you actually sit with the letter for a day or two, you'll be able to see clearly that many of the questions are probably good ones, at least, and maybe there ARE ways to make such-and-such more clear.
And maybe whatever we suggested to fix ____ problem is a suggestion you don't like - but you do see that ____ might be a problem and understand why we flagged it, so now you just have to think of a DIFFERENT way to solve it that you DO like. That's fine! Or, you think ____ is not really a problem at all, we just misunderstood something -- great! You can say that! But if multiple readers have stumbled, maybe it just needs more context or something.
If you "disagree vehemently" well -- ok? You don't HAVE to change a damn thing. It's your book, babe.
(But also agents don't HAVE to work with an author who is being an asshole to them, and a publisher doesn't HAVE to publish a book if they think that it is riddled with mistakes or problematic things that might bite you or them in the ass, so... you know.)
I would suggest you listen to feedback, not being defensive or yelling at anyone or otherwise flying into a Diva Rage about things, and then change what you want to change in the way that you want to change it. If there are things that are vital to you to keep exactly as they are for whatever reason... explain that. Have a discussion. It's fine.
TL;DR -- Your team is on your side, and you are a hard-working, level-headed and smart individual who has never yelled at or been a jerk to them. They won't force you to make any change you passionately don't want to make -- but they would appreciate it if you'd at least listen to and thoughtfully consider feedback. If you throw it all back in their face and insist that they are wrong about all of it, they will likely find that to be a very aggressive and weird stance and not particularly relish working with you.

Writeblr Introduction
Hey everyone!! This is going to be my first Writeblr introduction! I've been waiting to make a Writeblr introduction for a month, and now I believe I am ready since school is about to start up again!
About Me
My name, or better yet; my pseud, is either Beta or Angel. It's a pleasure to meet all of you! I use the she/her pronouns. My birthday is in May!! If anbody is wondering, I am a Gemini!
Additionally, I am a young African-American who is a Junior in high school. My main goals right now is to graduate high school and go to a great HBCU, spend 6 years in college; which will result in me getting my Master's in the English major and in the creative writing major, and I want to join the Air Force. In my free time, I love to write, read, roleplay, play the piano, hang out with friends, spend time with family, play video games, and listen to music!!
My writing
I started writing when I was eleven years old and have never stopped since, because it is a distraction from all the bullying I went through, or it is an outlet for my anger or: sadly, depression. I had other career interests, common ones like wanting to be a Veterinarian or an astronaut; which are undoubtedly great jobs!! But they are not the best for me! My parents and I always knew that writing, filming, becoming a pianist, or anything in the creative arts circle is what my professions of choice will be.
I have my own OC novels, but they have not been published yet. Hopefully they will be one day! I've also been writing lot of fanfics as of late! I have many WIPs and I have a huge star Wars fanfic project that's on hiatus, but hopefully I'll get to it again near the end of the year. I also write/collab stories with other people, so you'll see those as well. Most of my collabs started out as roleplays and will be edited into a traditional story format!
I write: Fantasy, fanfiction, romance, smut, angst, hurt/comfort, adventure, sci-fi, YA (WIP) (My own novels), sometimes horror, and AUs.
My Blog
I may be young, and young people still have a lot to experience. But I hope my age doesn't deter any of you from reading my stuff! It would mean the world to me if I find more: anons, proficient editor's, collab partners, and also beta-readers! (And I could one day create a tag list)
The link to my pinned list with all my stories or fanfics will be at the bottom of this post. All of my writing will be added there periodically as I finish writing them and post them.
If you ever wanna talk, then you are definitely welcome to Follow, ask, message, chat, and or/@me. Please like/reblog if you are a Writeblr so then I can follow you! I would love to meet others and get more involved in the community.
So, that is it!! I am looking forward to meeting other Writblrs, or simply other writers, learning about others projects, and learning how to write better or get out of writer's block. I am just excited to meet and talk with other writers!!
Also, please interact with me about your WIPs!! I'd love to hear them!
Here's a link to my pinned story list: My pinned stories list💙 (not all the stories are on this list yet! Most of my stories are on my Ao3 or Fanfiction.net)
Thank you!! @thewriteblrarchives

Readers of "Glitched",
I feel like I should just put this out there for you guys now so that if and when it feels like it's been awhile since the last "Glitched" update, you'll know why that is.
I'm still working on "Glitched" (got about 3-4 chapters + an epilogue left to write), but at the same time, I'm trying to plan out how the sequels, "Anti/social" and "Sepsis", will play out. As shown, I have quite a lot of notes and I now need to sort them out and figure out what will happen in both sequels.
I was going to save what I'm about to say for later as a surprise but meh, I figure I'll get it out now. On top of finishing "Glitched" and working out how the sequels will go, I'm planning to rewrite "Glitched" as an original story that I will hopefully one day get published in the future! The fanfic will remain up, but for the separate rewrite, it means I have to scrap anything and everything dealing with Jack, Signe, the videos, canon stuff involving the egos. I'm going to have to heavily edit it and come up with a well thought out plot. Basically, the fanfic is going to be like the blueprints for an overall bigger piece. Keeping my fingers crossed it'll all go well, and if it does, I may end up doing the same with the sequels. But who knows?
Don't worry, I'm not going to overwork myself - I WILL give myself breaks. It's a LOT of work and I'm hopefully going to get a job within the next month, which will add onto the stress. I don't plan on burning myself out. I'll take things at an easy-going pace.
Just thought I'd let you guys know what's going on "behind the scenes" so to speak. I know I don't need to give an explanation for why I take long to update the story, but I just feel you all deserve an answer anyways. So if it seems like I take longer to get new chapters out, just know it's most likely because I'm alternating between working on a chapter, planning out the sequels, and dissecting the original fanfic to figure out how to turn it into an original story.
Good stuff will be coming, guys, I guarantee it :)

✨WRITER✨ ✨INTRODUCTION ✨
Hello everyone! I am quite new to the writing community here, and still very new to Tumblr itself, but I wanted to star this for some time now. Some of you, I hope, may know me from @rhysswingspan where I mostly post the first thought that come through my mind (yes, there's a lot of random thing there) but here I want to solely focus on my writing and thing I like accordingly to that topic.
——Tumblr dinamic——
In here I will post my writing progress, WIPs, character charts, character's and book's boards (that are like a compilation of images and an over all look of the character/story) and other's writers stuff like struggles and guidance (although I am very, very, very new to all of this so expect nothing but mediocrity).
——about me——
First the basics, I go by she/her pronouns, I go by the name May and I'm not from the US😂.
Books I would take to deserted island;
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (obviously)
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata (guilty pleasure)
Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
The One by Kiera Cass
Movies that I would watch until the end of times;
About Time (2013)
Pride and Prejudice (2005)
Howl's Moving Castle (2004)
Tuck Everlasting (2005)
The Age of Adaline (2015)
The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Kimi No Na Wa (2016)
Games I would play if I would to die tomorrow;
Beyond Two Souls by Quantic Dream
The Last Of Us by Naughty Dog
Uncharted 4; A Thief's End by Naughty Dog
——about my writing——
Well I write two main genres; High fantasy and YA contemporary. This is because im in love with anything that can give you an out of the real world and anything that can make you feel things as intense as it would feel in real life, and because I'm a hopeless romantic (as you can tell from my selection of books and movies...). I explore a lot of topics with my writing, I try to somehow cure myself with my own words by expressing personal problems such as: mental health, family problems, physical limitations, trauma and such. My concepts are usually based of my takes on life and what healing I want with certain story, you'll see me writing about the need to be validated or the desire for scape (that are common topics in my books).
I'm currently working on three main WIPs:
The chronicles of Ghrian; a triology, set on the world of Ghrianwhere humans are scarce and creatures of light, nature, war and cold rule over their own territories. It tells the story of Ylara, an orphaned princess, who is suddenly dethroned the day prior to her coronation by a violent rival kingdom. She partners up with a thief in search of safety and revenge for her fallen realm. It has 10,628 words but it is not published.
A Flare of Life; this is a new novel that I started just today, it will be up in the Dreame app and hopefully as a nominee for the YA Contemporary writing challenge, if you want to give it a try my profiles are in the description ✨ anyways, its set in the common world, our protagonist, Everly Santos struggles with trauma and PTSD from the night her dad and nine-year-old brother died in a house fire. Moving all across the country from Utah to California, Everly is trying to start fresh, leaving everything behind, her friends, her grandparents and the deaths of her loved ones. Along side her mother and her father's mother she will try to recover from all that heavens her heart and the scars that the night of the fire left in her body. It has about 1623 words and it will be up as soon as I edit the epilogue, I plan to update it weekly if not daily, with at least 1500 words per chapter.
The death triology; currently writing the first book "Sharper Than Daggers". It is set in the common world but with a twist. The world as it is known is just a fraction of the truth. In the darkness, wicked thing dwell, with immense beauty, thirst for blood, a pleasure for carnage and quick tongues for spelling curses. It tells the story of Daya Mors, a legacy Huntress-to-be that want to prove herself and get the title of youngest approved huntress in the history of her family. To accomplish that, she's send to investigate multiple murders in a small town far from her home. The problem is, the monsters don't seem so scary up close. It has 2,163 words and it's not yet published.
——writers that inspire me——
These are some awesome people that gave me courage to create this account so show the some love💞:
@pens-swords-stuff (they give so good advice on how to write stuff and how to improve your writing and some awesome fics)
@writingbyjillian (Tumblr literally won't let me tagg them but they are just the nicest and they have amazing WIPs and an beautiful book in wattpad called Leather Jackets Are Mandatory that you should definitely check out)
