I would like it to be known that my 3 year long dream has come true and I got Powerless printed as a book.
When I first read Powerless, I was a cis, ablebodied, neurotypical lesbian, and it made me question the world around me.
As a gay, trans, disabled, autistic man, your story means even more to me than it did 3 years ago.
Thank you for your words. They’ve changed my life.

Oh my gosh, I cannot tell you the absolute wave of emotions that hit me when I read this. I am beyond moved that this story means enough to you to get a physical copy three years after you first encountered it, and a whole five years after I finished it! Powerless is the first story I ever wrote, and knowing this venty little world that my sixteen year old self created is still important to other people too makes it feel like I'm not there alone. New Psyche and everyone in it is still there for us, and always will be.
I'm so proud of you for growing into yourself, and I hope that, in whatever way you continue to flourish, this world I created for us and everyone like us will let you know that you always have somewhere you belong.

Matt and Brennan really think they're original for having their protagonists start their stories in Carriages moving towards their destination to give the audience that feeling of momentum and foreboding.
Like okay??? Bella Swan litcherally blasted emo music from her iPod nano in her dad's cruiser on the way to Forks, Washington?!! She invented the protagonist angsting in the car on a rainy day? You walk in her footsteps and hum pale imitations of symphonies that she composed?

Everyone likes to shit on Season 3 but did you know that Orla has the fastest flat-Earther-to-round-Earther conversion rate of any living human being
No but seriously, next to Oprah's "fuck the critics" spiel in the Season 2 premiere, this is the best jab in the entire franchise thus far
...Do anti-vaxxers in Season 4 next you fuckers, I dare you

One of the things I love about Baulder's Gate 3 is the companions aren't just archetypes who exist to fill out the roster and be familiar to players so they don't have to think too hard about it, they're actual characters and often have something about them that's opposite of the archetype they're closest to.
Astarion? Sure he's the sexy vampire, but he's also about boundaries and getting permission before biting anyone (minus that first time).
Gale? He's a wizarding prodigy with a massive hubris but is also fine, even eager, to be the camp cook.
Halsin? The quiet dude you meet along the way who is very much into nature and reserved at first, then he relaxes and you learn he's the horniest motherfucker around and down for pretty much anything.
Wyll? He's a living legend in his own time and someone even experienced soldiers are at least wary of, but he doesn't have an ego about it and can separate that from who he is as a person.
Jaheira? She plays up her age and experience and pokes fun at herself and the expectation that she must know more because she's seen and done more than most, but she's content to stepping aside and letting someone else take the lead and doesn't take insult to it.
Karlach? Knows she can take on what the hells throw at her and relishes a good fight, but is the biggest advocate for mental health and to rely on others and/or take a break if needed.
Lae'zel? A born and bred warrior who knows nothing else and doesn't shy away from violence, but her long-suppressed empathy and curiosity starts coming out when she no longer has outside forces dictating who she must be.
Shadowheart? Reverses the "bubbly cleric" trope but instead of sticking to Hot Topic Cleric™, she has to fight the urge to care about and connect with others.
It would have been easy to stick with the first half because those are familiar archetypes and tropes, but it would have rendered them flat as characters. The additions give them depth.
And BG3 is so much better for it.

Gil has a sexy water shooting in boxers and a white dress shirt 😏
"This is dumb."
"Come on," Thena smiled as Gil fussed with his 'wardrobe', "you know how these shoots are."
"I wish I didn't," he grumbled, visibly embarrassed.
"Stop it," Thena laughed faintly. She had seen him plenty of times like this--shy and flustered at the wardrobe picked for him. "You look good. And that is the whole point of this."
"I still don't know whose big idea it was to even nominate me," he practically pouted as the lighting for the set was finalised."
"It's based on general consensus, Gilgamesh," she chided him, tugging at the front of his shirt for him one last time. "And Sprite says there has been a bit of a resurgence for you online as of late."
Gil had stumbled into a nomination for sexiest man of the year (or alive, or whatever they were calling it these days). And he wasn't overly pleased with it, especially when he found out that he had won. And furthermore, that they wanted to do a sexy photo shoot for the occasion.
He had initially wanted to decline, but his manager practically frothed at the mouth at the idea. One did not simply decline the title, nor the publicity that came with it.
King had said, verbatim, "go on and slut it up, big guy", so...that was helpful.
"Okay," Gil gulped, stiffly walking towards the set.
He had fussed and fussed, saying that plenty of options were just not him, or they wouldn't be believable that it was something he did regularly. At first he had suggested they just follow him around at the gym for the interview.
But the editor had gotten a tip off that Gil was a great cook.
Thena watched from the sidelines as they directed him. He was wearing a white button up shirt, and absolutely nothing else. Well, a pair of black boxer-briefs. Gil had said he looked completely ridiculous. Thena had told him not to argue with the producers.
He did look sexy.
Gil slouched over to the stove, grasping the handle of the pan just to really sell that he was doing some casual and lazy home cooking (in his underwear). "Y'know, I can't help but feel it's kinda dangerous to advertise this. Cooking without protection can-"
"Okay, big guy," the photographer murmured, obviously not listening to him. "Tug those sleeves up a little more?"
He did have great forearms.
"And," they adjusted the lens, "lean back a little, like you're talking with someone behind you?"
Gil was still terribly stiff. For all his acting prowess, photo shoots were not something into which his talent could translate naturally. He was too shy, too uncomfortable showing off his body.
"Think about who you're making these eggs for!"
Gil looked at the spatula in his other hand, "you really wouldn't need this just to scramble some eggs."
The producer sighed, rubbing their forehead. "Okay, let's try...something else."
"Gladly," Gil sighed, dropping himself from the unnatural pose.
"You!"
Thena blinked as she found a finger pointed at her, "me?"
The producer nodded, wagging a finger until she came closer to the set, "you came with him."
Yes, Gil had both been mortified at the idea of her seeing him like this, but also too shy to come all by himself for what could have been anything from a sports shoot to a total fanservice scene.
"What about her?" She was grasped by the shoulders to indicate to Gil that she could be the subject. "We put her at the other side of the island, out of frame, you just talk to her for a little. Think you can do that?"
Gil sighed at the grating and patronising tone. But he understood that his discomfort was primarily the cause of it. He looked at her, "are you okay with this?"
"It's not a problem," she answered, mostly for Gil's sake. Although she was all but shoved into the seat by the producer who obviously thought this would be quick and easy.
"Okay," Gil sighed as he resumed his place in the best lighting for the shot. "So, uh-"
"Well, you're right, you wouldn't use that thing to scramble eggs."
Gil did glance over his shoulder partially at her, pretending to make the vague gestures of cooking.
"You always just use chopsticks when I watch you," she tilted her head, although saying that was possibly more incriminating than she intended it to be. She just meant that he cooked a lot when he was over at her house (a lot).
"I mean, it's not like it's bad for making eggs," he shrugged, moving the spatula as stirring something around in his empty pan. "But it kinda cuts through them rather than keeps them airy and fluffy."
Thena smiled, happy just to watch him loosen up somewhat. "You could be making pancakes, I suppose."
"Huh," Gil mused, examining his pan at the suggestion. "I wouldn't really recommend a stainless steel nonstick for it, but I guess it's not impossible."
"You make delicious pancakes."
Thena continued to chat with him lightly and causally. It did actually seem to help him loosen up and forget about the cameras and the lights and the lack of pants on him. He would turn towards her every once in a while and then go back to staring at his imaginary dish.
"I think we got it!"
Gil blinked, "really?"
"Yep," the photographer declared happily, with the producer nodding enthusiastically in relief. "We're all good."
"Oh, uh," Gil set the pan and spatula down on the set stove and stepped back, "great."
Thena smiled at him; he was immediately back to being self-conscious and shy. She stood from her seat, "come on."
Gil started tugging at the shirt immediately, rolling down the sleeves to keep his hands busy. "Thank god, let's get outta here."
"Get some pants on, you mean?" she couldn't resist a little tease, which made him turn scarlet right to his ears. "Oh, come on, Gil. Your backside looked quite fantastic, I thought."
"Thanks," he snarked, eagerly heading right for the changing room to put his normal clothes back on. He looked over his shoulder before disappearing completely, "should I be concerned about you looking when I'm cooking at home, now?"
She shrugged with a faint grin, "what would you prefer I look at?"
Gil never did come up with a reply, retreating from her flirting.
She also needed to recover, actually. He did look good in the shirt and underwear they had selected for him. And while it wouldn't show up on the page, she had actually seen that it wasn't specially lined just for the shoot. She hadn't seen everything but she felt that she had seen...enough.
She twisted her hair over her shoulder, running her fingers through it, although making sure that the tips of her ears were covered.

Ingo attending some festival or celebration at the main pearl clan settlement in the icelands. It's more a thing for younger people but he's curious about their customs and goes anyway. Some of it involves people dancing and he starts to look really deep in thought, so Irida asks what he's doing. Ingo says he thinks there was something similar where he came from, but it's kinda fuzzy, especially since it was a two-person thing and he can't really reenact it himself. Irida doesn't want him to miss the opportunity of a memory, they come so rarely, so she asks him to dance with her and show her.
Ingo has Irida stand in front of him, and then pauses while he tries to remember. Finally he awkwardly directs her to put her hands on his shoulders and settles his own on her waist (Ingo starts to blush like a maiden at this point because he'd forgotten how close you're supposed to be for this- Irida gives zero shits lol). Ingo tries to take a few steps and Irida tries to follow his lead, but it's hesitant and awkward and Irida starts to get miffed after the third time Ingo accidentally steps on her foot.
Ingo finally just huffs and gets over his embarrassment, lifts Irida up and sets her standing on the tops of his own shoes so he can do the steps himself without having to try and direct her. Less distraction means the memory comes a little easier, and he starts to finally move less hesitantly and awkwardly. Irida had been looking at their joined hands, and she looks back up at Ingo to say something about how his people have odd ideas about dancing, but when she sees him she nearly bites her tongue off in an effort to stop herself. Because Ingo has his eyes closed, looking content for once, he's even humming some strange tune to himself, and she can tell he's not really present right now. He's here physically, but his heart is obviously elsewhere, and Irida would rather take a tumble down the cliffs than interrupt it. So she just kinda lays her head on Ingo's shoulder, listens to his humming through his chest, and lets Ingo whirl her around for a while longer.
Eventually Ingo kinda comes out of it and loudly apologizes before setting Irida down back on her own two feet again. Irida tells him it's unlike any dance she's seen in Hisui before, it almost just feels like walking at some parts? And Ingo gets all thoughtful again, mumbling to himself, "Walking...walk...? Wal...t. Walt. Waltz. Waltz!" and makes his frown that means he's proud of himself. Irida asks what else he remembers, since he seemed so into it. Ingo cocks his head at her. He doesn't get what she means. Irida cocks her head right back. Does he not realize he was spacing out the whole time???
And somewhere, somewhen, miles and centuries away, Emmet dances in circles around his living room, long black coat clutched against his front, humming his and Ingo's wedding song.

ASTARION'S APPROVAL RATING IS "HIGH."
This is NOT a drill, people!!!
Goddamn I hope I can finally trigger some romance options jfc.
Might have to finish Shar's gauntlet before his story advances, though. I've noticed that sometimes you have to finish a chunk of questline before new dialog unlocks.
IS2G once I finally finish this playthrough I'm gonna romance somebody easier. Shadowheart, maybe? Or Lae'zel. Her confession was really funny.
