#Ive been listening to Weezer and mostly just wanted to draw a scene like this #Toshiro’s phone says “ お父さん” as in “father”#drunk calling dad on impulse to have words #hes working some kind of soulless job in a nowhere city splitting rent with Laios who’s a norwegian on working holiday(dishwasher) in Japan #they met just bc he got trapped with Laios on the connecting flight from Tokyo who chatted him up the whole time bc he could speak english #and eventually he somehow ended u sharing a lease with thisn guy to help hide from his retainers who are supposed to be living with him #Laios is mostly drifting but genuinely is in Japan bc he wants to learn Japanese and hes admired it in that detached idolising european way #since he was a teen and even though its a small nowhere city everythings very fun and novel to him as someone from the boonies of norway #They have their initial dynamic but also Laios cooks for him and buys him western alcohol #sometimes your true love is the guy who shows up at work in a Godzilla shirt #i usually really have no interest in modern au of works that have such integral worldbuidling like dunmeshi that informs characters #this is how you know im cracked in the head over these two LMFAOOO #laishuro

🥏 TXF Fic Rec #25: "Overnight Sensation" by Syntax6

Today’s fic is an “X Files meets police procedure” whodunit with some of the best Diana-induced angst ever written. Set after episodes 6x11-12, “Two Fathers/One Son,” Scully ditches Mulder to join the investigation of a high-profile serial killer case in Boston. Her partner and Diana Fowley soon follow suits, complicating things.

This is one of those holy grail fics that combine a top-notch casefile with great MSR, the type @syntax6 excels at. The fast-paced, action-packed casefile goes all out on elaborate plot puzzles and has a blockbuster scale to it. Syntax6 creates a cast of original characters for the local police force, and portrays Mulder as a brilliant, heroic, and ass-kicking investigator, bringing to life that “golden boy of VCU”, known mainly through hearsay not often seen in action. A must-read.
