Okay but… any headcanons for Jax & Sloane / Ani / Kyra? (Romantic platonic poly whatever you’re feeling!)
First thing that I thought: Jax would have a HUGE crush on Sloane! (I mean, who wouldn't? 👀) Then: No wait, I want her to matchmake Jax and Ben! And punch King Adam after the coming out mess.
I want Sloane and Jax to become besties and throw knives at assholes together. I want them to become like sibilings (and annoy Ben together lol). Also, they have literally opposite vibes. Sloane looks like the perfect princess but is actually a badass and Jax is a chaotic bitch that is actually a cutie!
I also want Jax and Kyra to become besties, because I know that the moment he finds out that she got her tiger certified as an emotional support animal he would totally love her!
Listen, I know Ben broke her heart, but... the potential. I just know that Ani x Ben x Jax would be that team. Ani is probably stressed as hell (I mean, she has an army of younger sibilings to control, not talking about the dogs lol, everyone would be stressed) and Jax is the most chill guy ever on everything, so they complete each other. Specially for @lostinanothersmemories ;)
Characters version.
The freelancer - pallasch - it’s something exactly between a sabre and a sword and them being the freelancer and a generally versatile person I think it suits them. Also, yes, I personally like them. (All art still by Fedor Solntsev my absolutely beloved.)
Angel - double sais, they look almost like a toy and just as Angel themselves often get overlooked/underestimated. Usually to the bitter defeat to the underestimating person. It’s especially interesting to look at their sparring with David.
Babe - halbard. It’s long and pretty big and it’s gives it’s wearer a weight, while staying minimalistic and simple enough.
Sweetheart - they get a stiletto - a dagger in the dark, you know - they’re a stealth, so the slimmest knife to hide inside their sleeve fits them.
Starlight - urumi - with a flexible mind you need a flexible sword. It’s very cool, but Avior makes fun of them for it.
Lovely - a flail. One of those weapons you can make yourself, and Lovely with their whole urban explorer badass vibe would have one. Huge contrast with with Vincent’s fancy rapier.
Darling - a club (the simplest one, they might have even made it themselves). The closest weapon that comes to a baseball bat - they want to smash (preferably Quinn’s head).
Sunshine - a chris dagger. As best friends they’ve definitely picked it together with Elliott, because it’s also pretty unusual.
Mentor - a tessen or a Japanese war fan - they seem like such a calm reserved person, so they get something secretive, but when they do use it, they’re all drama.
Smartass - a war hammer. Fits well with Aaron’s chekan - their initial tension might be partly based their similarities of their weapons of choice.
Cutie - katakama yari, I think that Geordie might have helped them pick it, since it’s also Japanese and with their telepathy, they definitely prefer more distanced fights/holding the enemy away.
Original!Baby (Yan!Ivan!Baby is not here, because if they had a weapon their story would be different /hj) - a mace - another case of old friends choosing similar weapons. I think they’d have morgenstern specifically.
Honey - labrys, a classical straight to the point weapon, a lesbian ally weapon. They make fun of Olly for his sling, but they both like their weapons ancient.
Warden - a longbow - with their heightened demonic senses they have a good aim and they feel like another long distance person.
Love - they’re themselves a walking weapon, they don’t need one, but I think they’d get something that works a continuation of their own hand - so pata with a gauntlet for the handguard.
Dreamer/Friend - throwing knives, because I want them to throw one at Blake.
Charge (Regulus’ listener, yes I refuse to call them sweetie) - they used to have a couple of simple short daos, but they don’t need them any more.

Ranking my favorite bands (warning: this is like 50% folk rock/indie folk)
The Oh Hellos - the only even vaguely religious music I will listen to. Most of their songs are fairly secular, which is probably why I like them, and the more blatantly religious ones are probably closer to “religious trauma” in terms of lyrical content than “praise Jeebus” (there’s a crapton of Bible references though, but they’re used more for metaphor and imagery than religion). Their music is also very optimistic, which isn’t a very common thing with most of the bands on this list; most of their songs kinda give me the feeling of “even if everything’s going downhill, it’ll still get better in the end”.
Lord Huron - if I heard this out of the blue while I was hiking in the middle of the woods, I would be completely unsurprised. Except for Vide Noir, all of their songs give off pristine “middle of nowhere and there’s weird shit happening” vibes. There’s a supernatural element in like 90% of their songs, ranging from “taking a dimension-hopping acid trip” to “dude comes back from the dead to get revenge on an evil real estate dealer who killed his family”. A lot of their songs (or at least their earlier ones; I’m still listening to Long Lost) also tell stories, which is nice.
Death Cab for Cutie - I’d imagine their music sounds like what it’s like to live in a city where it always rains. It’s somewhere halfway between nostalgic and melancholic; my two favorite songs from Thank You For Today are “Northern Lights”, which is more optimistic, and “Gold Rush”, which is entirely focused on the nostalgia that comes from returning to your home town to find it irreversibly changed. Also, one of my favorite fics got its title from “Amputations”, so I can’t really complain.
Imagine Dragons - while I agree with some people that their first three or so albums are their best, the rest of their music isn’t slouching either (”Wrecked” and “Bones” are probably my two favorites of their new songs, and if you haven’t listened to them, YOU SHOULD). While they’re kind of overrated, that’s more due to their popularity than any flaw with their actual music. Also, Dan Reynolds has one hell of a vocal slide, and I can respect that.
Rise Against - punk is only really my genre sometimes, so I tend to gravitate towards these guys’ music because their lyrics are really good and to the point, sometimes to the extent that it’s downright cheesy (the children’s chorus in “Make It Stop”, anyone?). Not that that’s a bad thing, though; it can actually be really effective, such as the aforementioned “Make It Stop”, where the chorus makes it go from a standard punk rock song to straight-up badass. They’re also more...diverse than most punk bands, I guess, in terms of repertoire; some of their music is more acoustic, and I honestly think those songs are amongst their best because of the contrast they draw between the slow instrumentals and the bitter, harsh lyrics.
The Lumineers - I only recently started getting back into these guys’ music and holy shit they’ve gotten good. I listened to most of Cleopatra and their debut album maybe three years ago and just kinda thought “meh, they’re good but they’re not that good”, but their new(ish) album III is *chef’s kiss*. I’m probably biased on that front though, since I’m a sucker for concept albums. They’re more melancholic than most folk rock bands I listen to and they don’t rely as heavily on electronic instruments, which gives them a more down-to-earth tone than the other two folk rock bands listed so far, but they make the kind of music I’d listen to on the rare rainy days where I live (Arizona sucks ass, man).

but i also thought for a bit about the other zb1 members and which kdrama male lead they'd be and i already have a few of them!!
so first of all the lil cutie park gunwook. HE IS LITERALLY THE LOVE CHILD OF HAN SEOJUN AND LEE SUHO don't tell me i'm wrong because i am RIGHT. he looks super intimidating and acts so confident just like han seojun but soon enough we find out both of them are just cute boys that deserve all the love in the world💔💔 and like suho, gunwook is academically smart and comes off as intimidating but he's just a lil awkward that's all.
the second candidate is kim taerae as this bro from while you were sleeping i forgot his name. BUT i just thought of it while on the toilet and everybody knows toilet thoughts are superior. like both of them are super attractive but they're also kind of losers (affectionate 🫶). idk but taerae just fits his vibe SO MUCH i swear!! i can see him doing whatever the male lead did in the show. the awkward things AND the brave/badass things 😽
and then we have your bias as kang chul from w two worlds. they're both the main characters from their shows and. idk. hanbin just fits the vibe toooooo much. he would be SO cool as an agent or whatever tf kang chul was but yeah millionaire hanbin, rlly smexy🤧 he cared so much for his friends and family, it's just. ugh. perfect.
and lastly, the last member is jiwoong but it's probably not as accurate. kang taemoo. IKIK ricky "young and rich tall and handsome" and all that blah blah but jiwoong just fits so much as well???? i can literally see him go "you know what my credit card and my love for you have in common? they both have no limit" and then send a wink your way. taemoo was flirty but unintentionally, jiwoong would do it intentionally 😪 also we know that taemoo was for the boys and the girls (he and his manager......... 🤨) and we know what jiwoong was doing before lol.
yeah that was all i could think of. i kind of think hao could be lee suho while gunwook would be han seojun but yeah gunwook fits the both of them ate the same time a lil too much. i haven't watched enough kdramas to assign all members a male lead sadly☹️

My top 10 BL characters this season.
So I started this year strong in watching some well loved BL dramas and I plan to go the whole year catching up on everything. I’ve decided another fun thing to do besides weekly watch list recaps would be to do a top 10 list of my favorite characters from the shows I’ve watched. The characters in this list can be from any BL show I’ve seen, and it doesn’t have to be from this particular season. So without further ado..the list!
1) Type from TharnType
So I’ve come to the realization I like them bratty. I like when they have a backbone and don’t give in too easily. I like when they are just so frustrating and sassy and just a general pain in the ass. And Type is all of those things, and I just love him for it. Never change Type. You are perfect the way you are.
2) Tutor from Why R U?
Tutor is one of those characters that looks like an angel, but is actually a little devil in disguise. This boy knows exactly what he is doing at any given moment, and especially the effect he has on Fighter. He has the cute appeal, he has the sexy appeal, and he fluctuates between both within seconds. You never know if he’s going to be on top or on the bottom and it really just depends on his mood. And I can relate to that too well lol.
3) Pat from Bad Buddy
Literally the dream boyfriend. The moment he realizes his feelings, he’s in deep and already head over heels dedicated to Pran. He chases the boy on a trip where he doesn’t know anyone, and all Pran’s friends are hostile to him. But he doesn’t give AF because he only has eyes for one man. And he never loses sight of Pran for even a second.
4) Black from Not Me
I just think he’s such a badass. Do I need to give more of an explanation? Dude gives zero fucks and will kick your ass without any hesitation. The fact he took down a swat team and rescued his entire gang was so fucking cool. I guess he’s similar to Tutor in that he looks like an angel, but he really is a devil. And no, he doesn’t fluctuate from that. He’s hardcore.
5) Pan as Kim from The Shipper
This one is more complicated. But I basically love the character Pan as Kim. Where she has changed bodies. The dynamic with this was so interesting and hilarious to me. How her mannerisms came off so odd and a little weird as she was occupying Kim’s body. And her little, “Ehhh?!” was so iconic. How could I not include that in my list?
6) Green from 2gether
I love a fierce flamboyant queen. Green was the comedy of this entire show and it was sorely needed. I also love that towards the end and the sequel he plays more a role of a good friend, and less obsessive stalker lol.
7) Kongpob from SOTUS
Here’s another fierce queer..maybe a little less flamboyant? I dunno. Openly flirting with the head hazer in front of your entire class though lmao. Dude won me over from the very first episode. The balls on this man.
8) Yok from Not Me
He’s just saying what we’re all thinking, let’s be honest here. Outright asking if the reason Dan did a background check on him was because he was interested. Just all the damn flirting, omg. Do I have a cop kink? Yes, officer. And do I get to live it through Yok? Yes.
9) Porsche from KinnPorsche
Didn’t really want to put this character down since I’ve only seen 2 episodes, but ya’ll. Ya’ll. This guy is giving me all the bratty vibes I just want!! I know he’ll probably change his tune later in the story but his reluctance to bend to Kinn’s will is just so entertaining to me. I also love the duality of hot AF bartender-ladies man to then just literal dumbass that jumps off a boat to escape. I’m really looking forward to the rest of his story.
10) Kuea from Cutie Pie
And last but certainly not least, Kuea. This was a hard choice for me, because I feel like I love the four main guys equally. But I think Kuea’s “secret” side of himself is more entertaining, and especially as he tries to hide all of this from Lian. It has been lovely to watch his “perfect cutie pie” face crack under the pressure though. And I hope by the end of the show he’s able to be completely honest with his fiancé. And that Lian will love that bratty side of him just as much.

With your extensive academic knowledge in ATLA, which member belongs to each element?. So far, I have Tae as earth, Seokjin as air, Yoongi as water, and namjoon as Ravenclaw. Different fandom, I know, I know, I can’t seem to place him in an element 😭. Maybe air? But also he falls under earth, but he also has fire in him?…… wait, is namjoon the avatar?. 🤔
LMAO omg. I love this. I'm sure none of you are surprised that this wouldn't be the first time I've had this conversation either. 🤣
For those who don't know the show but want to play along or want to know why I picked what I picked, here is Uncle Iroh's description of each element/bender from the show:
"Fire is the element of power. The people of the Fire Nation have desire and will and the energy and drive to achieve what they want."
"Earth is the element of substance. The people of the Earth Kingdom are diverse and strong. They are persistent and enduring."
"Air is the element of freedom. The Air Nomads detached themselves from worldly concerns and found peace and freedom. Also, they apparently had pretty good senses of humor."
"Water is the element of change. The people of the Water Tribe are capable of adapting to many things. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything."
So for me, in my head, how I've always pictured sorting the members into their ATLA Nations. It was like this:
Jungkook is actually the Avatar in my head. Master of all elements, Jack of all trades, Golden Maknae, Good at everything. Kind hearted and a gentle soul, a total badass, meaningful tattoos too lol. I think he would or could come from either the Earth Kingdom or the Air Nomands and could fit in either of those elements as his "base element" really well.
Jimin for me would be Water Tribe. This was an easy one for me. He fits Fire as well too, so that would have been my secondary choice. But even his dance style flows so well with Water. He is funny, he is hard working, he is fierce yet kind. He is nurturing. He has a good sense of who he is at this point too. He can be soft and sweet, but hard and incredibly powerful at the same time. Jimin and Water have the same insane duality lol
Yoongi would be Fire Nation. Because duh. He spits absolute Fire. Lol mostly kidding. Yoongi is power. His work ethic is insane. He sets goals and he gets them. His will is top tier along with his talent. He also doesn't mess around with things. You always get the real, raw and authentic him. And he is a huge pillar of support for the people be cares about too
Namjoon would be from the Earth Kingdom for me. More specifically getting into deeper ATLA lore and powers, a metal bender. He is a huge support and *rock* for the other guys to lean on. He takes on and supports so much for them, either through dealing with the company, with interviews, with translators, with even fans and the anti counterparts at times too. As well as being an incredible innovator and natural leader. I think metal bending suits him so well. Plus he is a whole badass and a cutie too. But I agree that if JK wasn't the Avatar, it'd probably be Joonie. He gives Roku wise older Avatar vibes at times lol
Jin would is one I always get stuck on. I switch back and forth between Water Tribe or Air Nomad. Ultimately, I tend to settle on Water Tribe though. I think that his tendency to want to live in the moment, be silly and focus on being happy in the present is very air Nomad of him, but that some of those traits can flow into Water as well. Which his love and care for his dongsaengs is strong. His way of helping them by keeping them focused on the present, being silly with them, etc etc, is him pulling those air traits into the water ones. He is easy to adapt and go with the flow, his patience is incredible, but he is never a doormat and can have a loud break in temper. Lol but never in an out of control or mean way.
Taehyung would be an Air Nomad. Freedom as a core desire I think fits Tae very well. Lol his refusal to wear shoes properly does give me Toph vibes though. But his sense of humor is unique. His perspective is always wonderfully introspective, the members talk about how he often teaches them things about themselves in many ways. He makes the most out of every moment and I do think he strives to do things to bring himself happiness and peace in the long run as well too. His love for all things fur baby helps too with this Air Nomad fit. Lol
Hobi for me would also be an Air Nomad. But I also get a lot of water Tribe from him too. So I switch back and forth for him too. But in the end, his dance style is gravity defying, his mannerisms are goofy funny and free. He has a very good handle on who he is as a person and wants to be the embodiment of thay good example of living your life for others. I think the water elements there is very impactful there too, but I ultimately usually decide on him being Air. But that's just me. Plus Air can be the scariest when mad even though it takes a lot to push them there.... lol and that fits Hobi too
So IM SORRY I basically disagreed with you about EVERYTHING 🤣🤣🤣 good thing there is no right answer? LOL If anyone is wondering my element is Fire, but I often flip flop between Fire and water for myself too. (I swear those aren't the elements of my two biases because of that lmao). If you have an ATLA element you define yourself with, tell me please! 💜💜💜

Ship Meme: LongJun
Now it’s time for a danmei ship, so let’s talk about my favorite danmei ship, Li Jinglong/Kong Hongjun (Longjun) from Tianbao Fuyao Lu/Legend of Exorcism !
(lots of spoilers under the cut, so beware)
Kong Hongjun (Kong Chouxing):
Our cutie main character (with his very different looks in manhua and donghua, but anyway, he’s adorable!). Half human and half peacock yao and raised by the phoenix yao emperor Chong Ming, Hongjun is sent off to Chang’an to give the Heart Lamp to the Chen family descendant and to figure out the mystery of his father’s death. Things don’t go quite according to plan, but he joins the newly created Exorcist Department, solves mysteries, learns about the world, fights yao, matures and discovers more about himself, and falls in love.
As a protagonist, I really love Hongjun because he’s adorable (and a glutton) but also because throughout the series, you get to see him gradually grow up and mature, to the point that it becomes him supporting Li Jinglong when all seems lost, and eventually becoming yao emperor himself. He’s a badass little cutie who I only want good things for!
Li Jinglong:
Our secondary protagonist in many ways, Zhangshi of the Exorcism Department, the always unlucky Li Jinglong.
Li Jinglong is a guy who works extremely hard and is extremely smart and strategic, but he’s also extremely unlucky, so many situations tend to blow up in his face. (Like the first time he and Hongjun run into each other in the streets of Chang’an after Hongjun arrives on a mission...) Still, for all that, he is the one who leads the team and gives them direction, and he also has a VERY soft, sappy side for a certain half-yao cutie :DDDD (The man got a peacock feather tattoo over his heart before even confessing, he has it SO BAD with or without his memories of their childhood).
What I especially like about him though is that he is always so encouraging with Hongjun, always explaining things to him, and always telling him that “No, you’re not dumb, you just haven’t seen much of the world yet” when Hongjun feels kind of stupid. He is Hongjun’s biggest fan (Chong Ming may disagree, but anyway), and of course, when he gets to his weakest point and thinks that he’s completely useless to the team, he leans on Hongjun, and the two of them manage to get through it together.
Which now brings us to....
Longjun:
They’re so sweet??? They definitely hit all my favorite childhood friends vibes because yes, they were childhood friends who basically promised to marry each other when they were tiny, but of course, due to everyone hunting down Mara, Hongjun’s parents died, Hongjun was de-aged by two years (which is why originally they were only 2 years apart in age, but now they’re 4), and all of their memories were wiped. Still, they managed to find each other again and fall in love all over again, and they are SO devoted to one another.
Li Jinglong sings the whole Song of Yue Boatman to Hongjun to confess to him! He climbs a mountain to get to him! He buys food constantly for this boy who has a black hole for a stomach! Hongjun doesn’t want to go back to Yaojin Palace as soon as he thinks of Li Jinglong alone in the exorcist department! He constantly fights to protect Li Jinglong! Even when he doesn’t understand his own feelings, he tries to figure it out, for both his and Li Jinglong’s sakes!
Li Jinglong will do anything in his power to keep Mara from taking Hongjun over, and Hongjun will make sure that no one bad mouths or hurts his Zhangshi even Li Jinglong himself.
Which is not to say that everything is roses in their relationship: after all, there’s the big thing of Li Jinglong inadvertently causing the entire incident that led to the death of Hongjun’s parents, Hongjun having the seed of Mara within him, and Li Jinglong very insecure over his position on the team if he has neither the Heart Lamps or his planning skills with him.
And in the end, they do manage that! And even adopt a son! It’s all very cute (and they totally deserve it after all the pain it took to get them to that happy ending).
But juu, why are they your favorite danmei ship?
I guess it’s because with Tianbao, we get to watch both of them gradually grow and mature together. Hongjun is the most obvious since he starts the series at just 16, but Li Jinglong also matures as time goes by and learns that his worth is not just in how useful he can be to everyone and to rely on others. Also, they’re childhood friends who managed to meet again, and I eat that stuff up with a spoon.
But juu, what about Langlu??? Why aren’t you writing about them????
Of course I love Mo Rigen/Lu Xu! I didn’t write 2 whole fics about them for nothing! And I will admit that they were the pairing that made me start reading Tianbao, but Longjun is what made me stay, and if I have to pick a favorite pairing in Tianbao, then it’s Longjun even with tsundere Lu Xu. It helps that Longjun gets together relatively early in the series, at the end of volume 2, while Tianbao Langlu are a mess until almost the end of the series, so you get to see Longjun as an established couple for way longer than for Langlu.
This entire series sounds super interesting, but where can I read it, juu?
So of course there’s the original jjwxc raws and a guide on how jjwxc works, and there’s the ongoing English translation by moon over on ChickenGege that I’m helping with. If you want to read the manhua, Bilibili has an English site, but ChickenGege (which is the official team Bilibili is using) also posts it on their site. Season 1 of the donghua is on Netflix, and probably season 2 will be up there soon too, since Bilibili just announced that season 3 is coming out soon!
juu, which adaptation do you like best?
So of course I like the original novel best since that has the most detail, but the manhua and donghua are really nice too! I love the manhua artist’s style (she’s also doing the I Ship My Rival x Me manhua too), and the donghua really went all in on their 3D animation budget. Of course, sadly, the manhua and donghua is more censored, while the novel (as long as you get the uncensored traditional version or the old raws before jjwxc clamped down) was written before JJWXC really started clamping down, so it’s way more explicit about the romances.
So I hope you guys enjoyed my little ramble about Longjun, and if you’ve never checked out Tianbao before, you really should! It’s a great novel with tons of humor, adventure, angst, heartwarming moments, and romance!
