Hey guys! here are some alternatives for wilbur soot and/or lovejoy!
Joe Goldsmith - Lead guitarist/backing vocalist for lovejoy, has his own solo career with amazing music similar to lovejoy (I want to clarify the one I linked in the comments is NOT the Joe we’re talking about here! Im so sorry about that!)
James marriott - Amazing vocals and catchy tunes! He's also a commentary youtuber
Cavetown - Pretty similar to lovejoy, lots of good vocals
Ricky Montgomery - Easy to listen to, has lots of quiet catchy songs
The Strokes - Indie rock band with instrumentals a lot like lovejoy + very nice vocals
The Fairways - Less well-known indie band with calm vocals and similar instrumentals
Fish in a birdcage - Modern renaissance indie band with amazing instrumentals
Los Campensinos - Lovejoy/wilbur has covered a lot of songs by them! Very catchy and great to sing along to
Beach Bunny - Rock band, very catchy and great to sing to
Bully - Probably the most like lovejoy. Great instrumentals and amazing vocals
Neon trees - Great angry music, loud big instrumentals
Arctic monkeys - Calmer, great vocals and easy to sing to

Hozier and Lord Huron are not enough anymore. I need music suggestions that feel like witnessing a secret ritual of mushroom gnomes. I need to feel the name of the gods as pronounced by the oldest conifer in upstate New York. I need to scream with my bones not my mouth. I need a fatherly pat on the back from Odin himself. I wanna eat clay from a riverbed.
Can anyone help me with that? Thank you.

if you had a bad day and need to empty your mind: here are some very specific things to actively listen to in songs:
the drums in the first 32 seconds of ‘for meg’ by on the might of a princes
actually just the entirety of ‘big sky’ by acai
the drums+electric guitar combo from 2:03 to 3:40 in ‘sirens pt. II’ by brookside
the guitar in 1:40 to 2:15 in ‘nude’ by radiohead (2:04 gets me every time)
that tinyyy little tone in 3:47 to 3:51 in ‘rosyln’ by bon iver & st. vincent
the super relaxing bassline in ‘liquid love’ by billie marten
that part in ‘mustard’ by strawberry milk cult where the music sort of pauses, when he goes “cause it’s a…. long walk on the way to the top”??
the way ‘stolen dance’ by milky chance sounds like what wrapped in a blanket feels like. or drifting in a warm pool. especially from 3:13 and onward
everything about the first 24 seconds of ‘still beating’ by mac demarco
the drums (beat in general) in ‘this head i hold’ by electric guest
the harmonies in the background in ‘lego house’ by ed sheeran (listen from 0:43 how they start on “down”!! so pretty!!)

Hey folks, I want to dance to at least one song a day every day this year. I can shuffle my own music but I'd love to get in on some new stuff.
Please consider filling out this two-question survey:
suggest a song
optionally tell me how to make sure you know I've listened to it if you care.

i was tagged by @komplikacije (thank you Sara!) to spell out my url with the first letter of song titles. i feel limited by the fact that my url is only 6 letters, so i'm cheating and doing the full version of the record label instead.
Desire Lines - Lush Equipoise - Max Roach Fanon's Ghost - Armand Hammer Inertiac ESP - The Mars Volta Nexium - The Doppelgangaz Identity Trade - Yves Tumor Tasmanian Pain Coaster - El-P Is it a Crime - Sade Valiant - Dark Time Sunshine Eye Know - De La Soul Jive Talk - Juggaknots URL IRL - Cities Aviv Xtal - Aphex Twin The artist names all link to the songs on youtube too. I only picked songs that I genuinely love and are important to me. i'll tag a bunch of people, but if you don't want to do it no hard feelings of course. @thebonesofhoudini @m-00kieshouse @makingeyes @heathkrycek @newplaces2drown @newkindofcozy @hotsauceaficionado @maldoror-est-mort @mingusdewofficial @veteran-of-a-coldwar @exploresavegive @rhymewithme @foreverfindflight @missalmond @deepspacelove @forevermatic @atomsmegablast @lostintheunicornland
if anyone else wants to participate, just do it and say i tagged you! Peace.

PLS RECCOMEND ME KAITO SONGSS🛐🙏🙏🙏
Good kaito english songs/covers: Rumor cover by okiku (nightscape cover by them is also cool )
strawberry has good english parts in it. Aioepi is entirely english, Patches (by circus-p AND nostraightanswer) and Addicted, Midnight showers, and even a cover of Shelter
(Kaito's English is really good, you guys are just mean. ) Scattered glass is a V3 one, Hp , Sky Dive, and Polaris (old). Also a very specific version of old radio (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) as well as Gravity Anything by Shinjo-p , Re:nG, Matsubi, Ash-P, Gobs, Mazo-p, Kotaro and Hzedge (sometimes known as crystal-p) is good (sometimes kidp makes collabs with them so check out their channel too )
Rainbow girl for hard rock and 118, Jet black, Game Over, and Kaito's cover of Strangers is also cool as hell. there is also traditional country ??? song thats good Alive and Ai yo ai yo go hand in hand. but were also going to put dream in a stocking too

Here's the reins
Take ahold of me
Please don't let me go
You do the talking
SEW UP MY MOUTH
IF I CAN'T KEEP IT CLOSED
There's a dog barking
Right around the block
And a big ol' whistle blow
RUN FOR IT
I'LL KEEP THEM
OCCUPIED FOR YOU
BECAUSE I LOVE YOU
I LOVE YOU SO
Left me hanging at the station
But you'll be back for me soon...?
I'M ABOUT TO DIE
YET THE ONLY THING
I FIND I'M WORRIED ABOUT
IS YOU.

Fontaines D.C. talk to Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1's New Music show
Grian and Curley dropped by BBC Radio 1 to talk to Jack Saunders about the first single off their upcoming fourth album Romance, which comes out August 2024. I'll grab the audio clip once the broadcast of Jack's show is done. Sorry if this sounds like a blurb off the BBC site, I don't work for them but they should bloody consider that.
[On the lyrics to Fontaines D.C.'s first new single, 'Starburster']
Grian: "I felt a sense of immobility when I was writing these lyrics. I actually had the lyrics written, and was unsatisfied was them. I was on the way to record them and had a bit of a freak-out. I sat down and texted the producer James Ford and said, "I can't do this right now," I had to have it postponed. I sat down and just redid them because it wasn't what it was meant to be. And then it kind of came out in one go. It was sort of the experience of listening to yourself as opposed to expressing yourself."
[On the gasping breaths on Starburster, which Jack described as 'coming up for air']
Curley: I think working on this project breathed new life into us, we were excited to work on new sounds and go for it instead of being safe, which I don't think we've ever done, but on this one, we tried for it even harder.
Grian: You've got to take steps forward. Previously when we were releasing new music, we though that we might alienate some people with what we were going to release, but where in the past we may have thought that we didn't necessarily completely commit to the step, this time we did really jump.
[On the hip hop influence]
Grian: I was really into hip hop as a kid, and as you [Jack Saunders] mentioned, there's definitely a bit of a Gorillaz element to the production [the strings]. The focus came from a place of aggression and frustration, all the vowel sounds came out first and I had to figure out what the vowel sounds were.
[On the band's new aesthetic and bright coloured look, and 'finding light in a dark place']
Grian: The idea of the title is about embracing the necessary delusion in terms of how to function [in everyday life]. I imagine it as a world within a snowglobe, that you can slip into like a warm bath, but within that world is all the hysteria. It's about embracing that.
[On the album 'Romance']
Grian: We're releasing a new album, it's name is 'Romance'. That track [the snippet posted yesterday] is the opening track and it's also called Romance.
'Starburster' is BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record of the Week.
