The dynamic in Rise between the rest of the team and Leo is. so fucking funny. Because like you've got these three extremely talented individuals who all seem like perfectly reasonable people at first glance, right, but then if you squint hard enough you realize they're actually all batshit insane (affectionate) and the clown boy standing behind them is secretly their common sense.

Clown boy will occasionally put himself and the others in danger to Prove Himself or Prove Someone Wrong (see Minotaur Maze and the movie) but like otherwise... i think people forget Leo's overwhelmingly the voice of reason in most situations?

Raph, Mikey, and Donnie are all incredibly powerful boys with very specific skill sets. They are also, as a direct result of this, the WORST decision-makers on god's green earth lmao. When presented with a problem, Raph will smash, Donnie will blow shit up, and Mikey will razzmatazz. They will all run straight toward death with the same oblivious enthusiasm of a dog about to run straight into a screen door. None of them realize this and all of them think they are Extremely Good At Problem-Solving.

And the guy cursed with the common sense to realize this is literally the LAST person anyone would expect.

When you look closely, the entirety of Rise is actually a chronicle of Leo trying to find new and creative ways to keep this team of superpowered fools alive while simultaneously white-knuckling his Cool Fun Guy persona so the others don't realize he's secretly the Boring Responsible One. Haha, you know what would be Cool and Fun, guys? Not going after the Spine Breaking Bandit lol. Getting home before the sun goes up lol. Evacuating that civilian lol. Not telling the guy dangling me off a roof "you won't, no balls" lol.

The sacred struggle of every iteration of Leonardo is thanklessly wrangling the most trigger-happy siblings in the world, and Rise Leo has not escaped it. He just does an occasional shenanigan to avoid detection and his brothers fall for it every time.

Trying to get all the companions to develop into the best possible version of themselves truly feels like herding a bunch of stubborn goats I'll be there shouting NO you're not fucking killing yourself OR becoming a god NO you're not ascending and NEITHER ARE YOU put that spear DOWN you're not becoming the ultimate Shar simp NO you're not becoming a mindsquid we're gonna FIX YOU and YOU aren't taking over anything you have the leadership skills and self awareness of an opossum NO your father isn't nice he's an ASSHOLE you need to prioritize yourself more YOU need a bloody vacation preferably with your kids before you give them absent mother trauma and.... you're doing great Minsc keep at it

the funniest thing about comics being called inaccessible because it's "impossible to know where to start" is that there are several hundred comic fans running around with extremely detailed reading lists literally begging people with metaphorical dog treats to read the comics on them and then talk about their faves with them

I think about the Oceans Dream filler arc a lot

obsessed with Fire Island (2022) for a million reasons but maybe one of the biggest is that it has helped crystallize the understanding that literally every iteration of Lizzie/Darcy is fundamentally about two mom friends falling for each other

One of my favorite things in 911 is the moment anyone at the 118 gets the chance to play detective, they take the opportunity and just run with it. Like, I just know when Karen and Hen were at that bar tracking down the woman using their credit card that Athena had a headache.

Need to see the teens do like regular teen things actually. Like could you imagine these fools trying to plan some sort of outing together. Normal and Link in the group chat in shambles trying to get everyone on track as scary replies with one word every four hours and Taylor seemingly dropped his phone off a bridge with the amount of texts he’s not reading. Normal constantly volunteering hero to drive them places despite not even asking her first and then never actually agreeing on where to go or what movie to see. Eventually they get everything all planned out, but then normal and Taylor remember they forgot hermie and making everyone stop to invite him and then he’s like the busiest person in the world so they have to uproot their entire plans. Idk do we see my vision

I think it's funny when fans try to assign Yami Marik his own name. I think if you asked Yami Marik what his name was he would say his name is Marik. If you pointed out that it's confusing for there to be two of them, he would say that he should get to be Marik because he deserves it more, and from then on refer to Standard Marik exclusively by a derisive nickname he made up on the spot. He would then refuse to answer to any name that isn't Marik and try to correct you every time you called his other self "Marik" in front of him instead of the derisive nickname. There's no universe in which he isn't a huge bitch about this.
