Yan!HOTD CHARACTERS MEETING THEIR SOULMATES
All thanks to @the-mechanical-angel for the idea & credit for prompts to @r-evolve-art
Viserys Targaryen + Meeting soulmate in dream every night
Tumblr media
He was always looking forward to his dreams, looking forward to you. Initially, he believed it might have been one of his visions, one that somewhat always involved you. But he came to understand there were more than just visions.
Whether you two were lying in a flower field or strolling along the beach, Viserys loved the conversations and times he shared with you. The moment he opened his eyes in the mornings caused his desire for you to swell with each passing day. In the dreams, he begged you to tell him where you are, willing to sail to the end of the world just to see you.
The intensity increased when he assumed the throne and realized that you were the only person with whom he felt at peace. The king was allegedly never to be awakened from his sleep by the servants. When there came a day, he looked up across the court and saw you. The lord and ladies all stare in surprise as the king leaves his throne to approach you, cradling your face in his hands, becoming teary-eyed.
Rhaenyra Targaryen + Sharing the same injuries as your soulmate
Tumblr media
Your father brought you along to the coronation ceremony of King Viserys where named his daughter Rhaenyra as his heir. Your father decided to spend a few days at King’s landing, leaving you free to explore the castle. It’s there you could truly meet the princess and befriended her.
During your many walks together, you trip scraping your knees only to hear the princess wince in pain as she lifts her dress, revealing a scrape on her knee. Could it be. It was expected that your soulmate would be a man.
The princess and you exchange a look before she presses her nail into her knee, making you flinch. This all confirms it. You weren’t sure how she would respond, but you weren’t certainly expecting her to reach for your hand, a smile showing on her eager face. Rhaenyra told your father that you’ll be staying at King’s Landing with her from now on. Her father agrees, happy that his daughter made a new ‘friend’.
Daemon Targaryen + Sharing your soulmate’s emotions
Tumblr media
You came to the conclusion your soulmate must be quite a violent person, often feeling their strong emotions-their bloodlust and rage, which left you feeling all the more frustrated. Daemon could feel your frustrations and it left him amused. With you, there was much more happiness in the air. Giving him a taste of what inner peace might be like.
Sitting among your family during the tourney. You felt it. The adrenaline, the unbridled excitement of your soulmate. But this time, the feelings were much stronger that it almost made you feel queasy. It's when the rogue prince comes riding on his horse wearing his black armor, do you make eye contact.
And at that moment, you're sure he knows it's you. Sinking back further into your seat as the rogue prince gives you a smirk. Feeling your chest tighten as his horse got closer to you. His lance is right in front of you and he asks for your favor. And you do it all while he can sense your giddiness. Returning to your seat, you are well aware this isn't the last you'll see of Daemon.
Corlys Velaryon + Soulmate has a constellation that points to where they’re
Tumblr media
During his nine sea voyages, Corlys was said to return with countless treasures. Silk, jade, spice, ships, gold and so much more. But upon his return from Essos, he was said to have returned with what he told to be far more valuable than any of his treasure. When he returned, he had a princess by his side—who now is his wife.
Corlys knew what he wanted. And he set out to pursue it. He observed the constellations in the night sky and learned that the brightest one pointed in the direction of where he needed to be. Upon his arrival to your kingdom, the sea snake requested your hand in marriage.
Once he had seen you. It had to be you. Corlys was certain. The sudden beat in his heart. An unseen string tugging him in your direction. And there, he gave you the most extravagant gifts with a ship big enough to carry half of a village, and a dress so plush that it felt sheer. And how could your father refuse upon seeing such devotion.
Rhaenys Targaryen + Touching your soulmate allows you to see glimpses of their future
Tumblr media
Soulmates. Seemed like a ridiculous notion to Rhaenys. But perhaps that notion was needed. In this world soulmates rarely cross each other's paths. And if they did, it was not as happily as all those tales portrayed over and over again. But what were the chances she’d meet you on this particular day.
After arriving at King's Landing, you spent some time getting to formally know Rhaenys. Many times, having her over for tea. But once, your hands unintentionally brushed against hers. Rhaenys catches a fleeting glimpse. Her hair blown by the wind. Sensing the touch of another. The aroma of salt and seaweed. When the haze clears, a face so eerily similar is seen.
A cup breaking on the ground rouses her senses. A look of worry on your face. You can't help but ask if she's disappointed. Her expression, however, tells you otherwise.
Laena Velaryon + Sharing the same heart beat
Tumblr media
At driftmark, you attended the wedding of Laenor and Rhaenyra. The entire ride, your heartbeat has been slightly racing. It continues to bother you, yet you ignore it. As the door opens, it starts pounding rapidly and intensely, almost flopping in your chest.
 As you look at Lady Laena, you feel faint and short of breath. It seems she is also struggling, but her expression remains calm that perhaps you are only imagining things. All eyes are on her when she asks you for a dance. When your hand finally touches her, you feel as though you can breathe again. With each passing second, your body becomes more relaxed and at ease.
As the two of you danced, you tried to hide your awe in the face of her breathtaking beauty. When the dancing comes to a close, she whispers in your ear how she would love for you to spend a few days at Driftmark. There was no way you could refuse.
Otto Hightower + Meeting your soulmate after the worst event in your life
Tumblr media
As any with common sense, Otto believed the concept of soulmates was utter nonsense. Believed duty to far more proceeds one’s desires and whims. And taking a wife who wasn't his soulmate-whom he loved deeply further solidified his convictions.
But all good things come to an end. Now left with the news of his wife's death. Days after, he still carried out his daily duties. That's when he finally took notice of you; a friend of Rhaenyra and Alicent. As soon you walk away, Otto notices his eyes start to follow.
Moments are spent where he'd ask you of your house or day, and soon the subject shifted to more personal manners. Right then and there, Otto understood his feelings, his gravitation towards you. You must not have known. Envisioning someone much more spirited and youthful. Surprise trickled through you when Otto announces his impending marriage and at the sight of Alicent's expression of betrayal.
Alicent Hightower + Soulmate marks are only visible after touching
Tumblr media
In her younger years, Alicent found some solace in the prospect of soulmates, but that all changed when she was made to wed the king. Beginning to scoff at the notion, dismissing it as nothing more than a frivolous dream of little girls.
As she awakens in the morning, a new handmaiden greets her. The queen moves to stand as the handmaiden hastily dresses her. There, she felt fingers graze her skin. An intense stinging pain ran over her body, giving her skin a burning sensation. Holding her wrist. She sees it now. The mark.
A gasp is heard. The handmaiden grasping her own wrist. The implications cause the handmaiden's eyes to enlarge and her mouth to hang open. As they lock eyes, a knife-cutting silence permeates the chambers.
Aegon II Targaryen + A timer for when soulmates shall first meet
Tumblr media
As far as Aegon is concerned, he couldn't care less whether he discovered a supposed soulmate—if they even existed in the first place. Looking at his wrist, the timer indicates a decade or possibly longer. And as he grew older, he became more detached to the prospect. Maybe not even his soulmate would have loved the man he came to be.
A day at the feast, however, Aegon's vacant eyes drifted to his wine cup. Where he saw it. His wrist. His head tilted downward, eyes narrowing when seeing the timer rapidly decrease. Has it been that long since he last looked. His wife speaks, but it is all muddled to him. Eyes glued to his wrist, watching it still go down.
He hears more wine being poured into his cup. And then it happens. 0-Inked on his wrist. Finally, Aegon lifts his head at the servant who had stopped pouring his wine, and the prince is met with a horrified look in return.
Helaena Targaryen + Voices in Your Head is your soulmate’s
Tumblr media
As with her prophecies, Helaena's claims that she had a voice in her head were ignored. Servants have also claimed the princess is often seen smiling or humming to herself.
With Helaena as your soulmate, you come to find her mind constantly wanders, whether it be the ramblings of the many bugs she found or the cryptic messages. Although initially overstimulating, you've adapted to it. And she didn’t seem to mind when you did the same. Your voice is soothing. Was her response when you'd apologize for your mental babbling.
As long as she could still hear your voice in her head, the princess wasn't too concerned about finding you. But all of that changed when first saw you at her court. Her face softened, and her family had never seen her so delighted. And now, you spend most of your time in her chambers when her husband is away.
Aemond Targaryen + One eye is your natural color, the other is your soulmate’s
Tumblr media
It was said the day the prince opened his eyes for the first time, only one violet eye was visible. Clearly seen in the other was his soulmate's eye. His eye will return to its natural color once he meets his soulmate, the master assured his mother. In this world, soulmates hardly ever cross paths. Still, young Aemond caught himself daydreaming about finding you-his other half.
Tragedy struck on the day Aemond claimed Vhagar. Gazing into the mirror with only a violet eye staring back at him. Throughout those years, he was persuaded that he no longer yearned for the dreams he once had. But that day when he first saw you.
There was a momentary expression of surprise. Recognizing the eye he once possessed, the other mirroring his only to return to its natural color. A puzzled look was cast at the one-eyed prince, making him realize you’re oblivious to what had just happened.
Criston Cole + Reflections in the mirrors are the appearances of your soulmate
Tumblr media
As a young boy, Criston had placed a mirror that faced his bed, hoping to catch glimpses of you. You had to be the most beautiful creature he ever laid eyes on-his love, his soulmate, his other half. But his chest tightened when he took in your surroundings and the dress you wore. It told him you were much of a higher status-a lady. But the young idealistic Criston still believed the two of you were meant to be. Destined to be like the knights and their pretty ladies in all the tales he had heard.
Even as he matured into a man, Criston always carried a reflection with him at all times. In his pocket, a mirror was safely tucked away. He pulled it out to look at it, and there, in the palm of his hands, was his soulmate—the center of his universe.
So what a coincidence that he was competing in the tournament where your family must be. There, a knight approaches you with a house sigil you've never seen before; asking for your favor. He was quite handsome, and you couldn't help but feel a twinge of giddiness as you gave him a timid smile. When Criston emerged victorious, he requested one final favor. To be your sword shield. And you agreed, unaware of the consequences that would follow.
Harwin Strong + Touching your soulmate causes you to relieve each other’s entire lives
Tumblr media
At Harrenhal for the visit, you came with your father. Keeping pace with him as they lead you on a tour throughout the castle. There, you first encountered Harwin and Larys Strong, Lyonel Strong's sons. When it was your turn to greet Larys, you greeted him, and when it was Harwin's turn, he took your hand and gave it a courteous kiss.
Then it took place. All sorts of scenes pop in front of your eyes, one of a baby being born, crawling, taking their first steps, and speaking. Watching him grow into a boy, learning to hunt and wield a sword. Everything comes to a close with you facing the man whose entire life you just saw. For everyone else, it lasted only a few seconds, but for you two, it lasted a lifetime.
With his hand still in yours, Harwin now gazes into your eyes. A gaze of longing. When your father asks what's the matter, you pull your hand away from his, reassuring him that it's nothing. Lionel gives you a knowing look. His son certainly won't allow you to leave after this.
Jacaerys Velaryon + Soulmate’s name on each other’s wrist
Tumblr media
On his wrists, read your name. The prospect excited Jace. The idea of unwavering love, being one's other half. He'd study with the Septon intending to learn of other houses, asking them of their daughters. Perhaps he'd find you among them. Only to be left disappointed when your name was never mentioned.
Still, he remains hopeful. He knew his time was limited and that by now he must be betrothed. It's when his arrival at King's landing, did he hear something that perks up his ear as he walks across the hallways. Your name being uttered. Spoken by one of the servants. The said servants are taken aback when Jace approaches them like a madman, asking of the name. One of the servants steps forward. It's you.
The other servants are to leave, leaving just you and him. Reaching for your hand, he sees a cloth wrapped around your wrist. Removing it, he exhales heavily upon discovering his name inked on your skin. It's you. At last, he found you.
Cregan Stark + See color for the first time when you meet
Tumblr media
The wolf of the north never bothered himself with the idea of seeking out a soul mate. More important than love or desire were one's duties. He has long since come to terms with the fact that the world he lived in will always be a shade of gray. When the princess and her brother, Jacaerys Velaryon, arrived on a dragon back.
Cregan’s protracted silence was recognized by everyone in the room. Wide eyes are fixed on the princess and she shares his expression. Colors suddenly flood into their world, and the two are suddenly overcome by the sensations that flooded their minds.
As she and her brother explain their arrival to the situation, the princess's voice is shaking as she still hasn't fully recovered from her recent overstimulation. There’s also a slight waver in Cregan’s voice as he speaks. As he pledged to fight for them, the princess swears she saw his eyes soften for a brief moment.

little miss too-many-wips has a new concept:
jacaerys' twin sister (younger by minutes, but long enough to be the spare) is sent north to negotiate with cregan stark (jace is kept near rhaenyra while they make war plans). she authorized to arrange marriages, including her own, to ensure that the northern army remains in the black's corner. she's not prepared for the wry wit, strength of presence, and frankly absolute rugged viking appearance of the young lord of winterfell. so, when he suggests a wedding between them to demonstrate the unwavering loyalty of the north to rhaenyra and her own support for them assured as queen, she has no problem agreeing to it.
so, she weds cregan in the godswood and he declares his and his bannermans support for their true queen (now his mother in law to boot) and news reaches winterfell not two full weeks later of lucerys' death. she wants to go to dragonstone immediately but can't, as it might be too dangerous flying over the bay. so she bides her time but eventually she runs away and leaves a not apologizing and explaining for cregan, that she needs to help her family in the way she can as a dragonrider, that she will be reunited with him when his army reaches the south.
i'm imagining so scenario where she's been captured by the greens and we get a cregan stark in full terrifying calm rage like "where. is. my. WIFE?"
EDIT I've written 8.3k words now

Your Overstimulated And What They Do
Tumblr media
Aegon: If it concerns him, he tries to ease the situation. If it does not, then he leaves you alone and lets you work it out yourself. But if you force him to help, he knows you need space to calm down and process what has happened. He tries to offer support and comfort, but in the end, feels it's up to you to manage your feelings.
Aemond: Starts off by asking what’s wrong. If you have a hard time answering and explaining or are easily agitated, he’ll switch tactics to something you've been doing since childhood to comfort you. Could be as simple as rubbing your back or arm, running his fingers through your hair, reading to you. If you are a little easier to talk to but still agitated, he’ll talk you through taking deep breaths.
Jacaerys: He would use a calming and soothing approach. He would ask if you needed time to yourself and then offer her a cup of tea or a warm bath. If you're open/willing to cuddle or talk, he would offer support and validation.
Lucerys: If/when you are overstimulated, he will take the time to listen to your needs and determine the best course of action. He will ensure you are comfortable and that your boundaries are respected.
Rhaenyra: She comforts you and reassures you that you are loved and cherished. She talks softly to you, reminding you how much she cares for you and how she will always be there for you. She gives you space if you ask for it, and lets you know you are safe with her. She listens without judgment and without trying to fix things. She offers hugs or physical affection if it feels right, but goes at your pace and doesn't try to rush anything.
Daemon: When you are feeling overstimulated he tends to bring you into a safe space to calm down, where you can have time to collect yourself and process your emotions. He'll make sure to listen to your needs and support you in what you need until your ready to go forward again.
Alicent: When you are feeling overstimulated she likes to create a safe space for you and allows you to process your emotions and needs. This can include things like holding you, playing soothing background music, and making sure you have all the necessities nearby. Additionally, offering to give you a massage can be helpful in calming you down and helping you relax. Lastly, reminding you to take deep breaths and allowing you the time you need to come down naturally can be very beneficial.
Helena: She begins by taking a step back and assessing the situation. She looks at your body language and tries to understand the cause of your overstimulation. She then asks you if you need any space, or if there is anything she can do to help. Depending on the type of overstimulation, she offers to hold you, massage your back or shoulders, take over a chore like cooking or cleaning, or simply listen without judgment.
Harwin: He makes sure to give you the space that you need to relax, and assures you that he's there for you if you need him. He'll also help with any chores or projects that might be stressing you out, such as cleaning the kitchen or organizing a messy drawer. Additionally, he'll try to have an open dialogue about the situation, so that you can talk through your thoughts and emotions in a healthy way.
Cregan: When you become overwhelmed by the intensity of a situation, he will use body language and touch to comfort you and bring you a sense of security. He’ll hold your hands and caress you while expressing support through his voice and words. He'll also try to create an atmosphere that allows you to calm down so that you can refocus and regain control of your emotions.
Criston: He'll ask if you're okay, and comfort you if you're not. He'll hug you and stroke your hair or back, and try to comfort you emotionally by telling you how much he adores you. Sometimes he'll try to distract you with something lighthearted, like a funny story. If you wanted to talk about it, he'll listen and try to see if there's anything he can do to make you feel better.

How could you be so blind? - Part III
Tumblr media
Modern!Aemond Targaryen x Blind!Reader
Summary: Aemond sees you as the most beautiful woman in the world but you can't see that. (sorry I suck at summaries.)
Warning: a lil angst, the reader is a female, eventual smut
Words: 1,721
A/n: English is not my first language.
Part 2 / Part 4
Aemond kicks the door open as he enters his penthouse, with Alys hot on his heels. A smug smile on her face.
“What in the actual fuck was that, Alys?” He growls, his lilac eye burning with hatred.
Alys throws her purse to the massive sofa and walks towards him, her hips swaying sensually. “what do you mean sweetheart?” She looks up to meet his gaze, a fake innocent smile on her lips.
“You know very well what I mean.” He spits out. “Who invited you to the party? Cause I'm sure as hell it wasn’t me.”
Aemond was LIVID. After your last encounter at your place, he texted Alys, breaking their... deal. He wanted to say more than that, to accuse her of declaring that the book you gave him was from her. But he didn’t have the energy so he wrote a simple text.
Don’t appear in front of me ever again.
Aemond consumed a lot of his time thinking about his feelings towards you. Wishing to stop being a coward and confess his feelings for you but it wasn’t that easy. The fear of being rejected and ruining your friendship made him almost explode from anxiety. Spending most of his nights awake, his mind plagued by the thoughts of you.
When you refused his invitation, he accepted his fate by going alone to the party. Not wanting anyone else but you. But unfortunately, Alys had other things in mind. Appearing by his side when he walks into the red carpet, interweaving her slim arm around his.
That made the paparazzi go wild. The flash of the cameras shooting so fast almost made his only good eye go blind. Journalists shouted question after question, asking if they were together and if yes, how long.
Before Alys could reply something stupid, Aemond pull her away into the party. Leaving behind the crazy mess of confused journalists.
That night passed so fucking slow. Aemond couldn’t stand Alys anymore, hating how she made them look like they were married or something whenever someone approach them.
Helaena gave him a confusing look, surprised to see Alys with him and not you.
“I may or may not ask for a lil favor from your kind older brother.” She said with a wicked smile.
Aemond knew something was wrong with Aegon cause since he arrived at the party, Aegon have been hiding away from him as if Aemond was the plague in person. That bastard put her name on the guest list.
“Alys... This is getting out of hand.” He sighs, resting his head on his hand. Feeling a headache start to form. “You knew that I didn’t want you at the party. You know that things between us are over!”
Alys frowns, her eyes shining with rage. “Is this because of that handicapped girl?” she snaps. “Y/n, is it? Such a boring name but at least it suits her.”
Aemond could feel his blood boiling at her words, grabbing roughly her arm. Forcing her to meet his hateful gaze. “Say that again or Gods help me, direct a simple word towards Y/n and I will end your modeling career in one day. Do you hear me?” He growls lowly, noticing a hit of fear in her eyes but it was gone quickly.
She pulls away and grabs her purse. “You will regret this, Aemond.” She snarls, walking towards the door. “Mark my words.” And with that, she was gone.
Aemond groans and falls down to his sofa, sighing as his tense body melts into the soft cushions. He grabs his phone and quickly texts Aegon.
Tumblr media
Aemond sighs tiredly, losing all hope for his brother.
Finally, it’s over. Now he can focus on you.
////
You hum happily as you pack up your books, being done with the classes. Helaena stood by your side, eyeing you skeptically.
“Someone is in a good mood.” She says while walking out of the class with you. “Did something good happen during the weekend?”
A shy smile appears on your lips as you recall that today was Monday. The day of your first training with your new guide dog. You are so excited to start training that you almost couldn’t sleep the other night. But there was another thing you were also excited about. To spend more time with Cregan.
Cregan Stark was the definition of a true gentleman.
During your appointment with him, he was kind and patient. Asking some questions of how was your way of living, your schedules, whether your university accepts guide dogs in their establishment, etc.
His question was to help him find the perfect dog for you, with the right personality and temperament.
He also explained how this was a family business, taking great pride to train and give lovely homes to those great beasts so they could help people in need. The way he excitedly explains everything about his work to you, shows you how he loves his job.
After all the talk, he took you to see his dogs. The sound of all of them whining and barking happily as they see their owner, wanting pets and treats from him, made you smile brightly.
Cregan told you to take a seat while he went to get the dog that he had in mind. After a few seconds, the sound of heavy paws stomping the ground made your head perk up.
“Easy boy! We don’t want to scare your new owner, don’t we?” Cregan says with a laugh as the massive dog tries to jump onto your lap. “This is Knight. He’s one year old, perfect to begin his training. He’s already trained with the basics but his guide dog training will begin with you.”
“Knight... What a cute name.” You pet his massive head, feeling his soft fur through your slim fingers.” Will you be my Knight in shining armor?” a giggle exploded from as Knight bumps his head against your chest. “Can you describe him for me?”
“Oh.. Of course!” You hear him taking a seat beside you and you felt his fingers brush through yours as he pets Knight’s head. “He is 34 inches in height, he weights now 60 pounds but when he’s fully grown, he will be 120 pounds. Part of his weight is fur, so don’t worry.”
Your eyes widened, feeling a little nervous thinking of how he will fit in your small apartment. Well, you two will fit perfectly but you couldn’t have more people over, or else no one will move around the apartment freely.
“His coat is pitch black with a small spot of white on his chest.” A giggle fell from your lips as Knight start licking your hands. “He has heterochromia, his right eye is light blue and his left eye is dark brown.”
Your smile fell a little as the image of Aemond came to your mind. Of course, Aemond doesn’t have heterochromia but Knight’s eyes made you remind of him.
After meeting Knight and getting used to him, Cregan said that you will begin the training that week. 2 hours for three days a week, after your classes, and you will meet him at the park with Knight.
“Get everything ready for Knight this Monday cause after the first class, you will take him with you to your home.” He says as he escorts you to the door. “You will bring him with you everywhere you go, so he can get to know the space you frequent.”
You nod and said your goodbyes.
~~~~
“Well let’s say I have a date with a big haired boy,” you say with a giggle, referring to Knight but Helaena didn’t know that which made her look at you with a confused look on her face.
“What?” she asks, watching you walk into the bus.
You wink in her direction, well at least you think you did. “You will see tomorrow.” And with that, you are gone.
Helaena quickly grabs her phone and texts Aemond.
Tumblr media
////
“Good! Now you can give him a treat.” Cregan says, watching you order Knight to sit so you can give him the treat. “You both seem to work very well together.”
You gave him a cheerful smile. “Knight is a great work partner! I couldn’t have wished for a better dog than him.”
Cregan hums and start packing up his stuff, ending his class early cause of the dark clouds forming above them in the sky. “I think it might rain. Let's end here” He says as he starts feeling small drops falling on him.
You nod and start guiding Knight toward the path to your house. “Alright! Thank you for the class, Cregan! See you tomorrow.” You waved at him and start walking.
“Huh... Wait! I'll accompany you to your apartment.” He jogs to you just as you walk out of the park. “Since it’s Knight's first trip to your house, I wanna see if he pays attention to the path.”
“Oh?... Sure!” You say as you both start walking to your house, praising Knight during the trip as he pays attention to every corner and smell.
////
Aemond was sitting in his car in front of your building when he sees you with a big, handsome guy beside you, laughing at some joke he told. Aemond’s blood boils with jealousy. Who does this guy think he is?
His eye widen when he sees a massive black dog walking beside you with a harness saying “Guide Dog! Please Do not touch him!”
“So this guy is the guide dog trainer Y/n talked about...” He hums, his large hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as anger and jealousy ran through his blood.
He watches both of you walking in your building, noticing the guy’s hand dangerously resting on your lower back.
Turning his car on, he drives back to his place. He needs advice on this matter. He never had a serious relationship before or fight for someone since women mostly throw themself at him.
The first person that comes to his mind is his sweet sister, Helaena. She must know how he can conquer you back. She knows what to do.
Relax, Aemond. It will be fine... I hope...
“Don’t forget our discussion on The Portrait of the Mad King next week!” The professor's voice was muffled by the sound of students gathering their belongings.
Helaena, sitting beside you, unmuted her phone and began to type something on the screen. You collected your things and secured them in your tote bag as your friend began to do the same.
“Aegon’s phone is on ‘do not disturb’… he’s probably locked in a broom closet with Floris-”
“-good for him-” You interjected, shooting her a wink.
“-but Aemond is at our usual table by the field,” Helaena added as you both stood up, her eyes searching for yours intently.
Avoiding her gaze, you shifted your attention to the students leaving the auditorium, following along the waves of movement. A blush rose to your cheeks at the mention of Aemond.
You were screwed.
That morning, you had stirred awake at the breaking of dawn in Aemond’s arms on the couch. You must have passed out during the movie. Helaena and Aegon were nowhere to be seen; they had most likely moved to their respective rooms. Once your brain registered whose chest you were using as a pillow, you held your breath, eyes widening.
Your heartbeat drummed within your chest, into your veins; you felt its numbing beat all throughout your body. Aemond slept peacefully, arms around you tightly. His scent, his warmth, his allure… he, in his entirety, was divine. Oh, how you wished to stay, retreat to his unknowing and awaiting arms! Your stare twisted pitifully in longing.
You were truly screwed.
Your arm slowly raised with the intent of caressing Aemond’s cheek with your fingers. You halted mere millimeters from his flesh, your consciousness finally catching on to your movements to pull back into a clenched fist against your chest.
Your throat strained as your eyes parted from Aemond’s sleeping form dejectedly. A shaky sigh escaped your lips, knowing deep down, this would never happen again. You tore yourself from Aemond’s unconscious grasp, a movement that felt wrong, painfully tearing your heart apart. You collected your things and snuck out of the Targaryen’s penthouse. You shot Helaena a quick text and went home. You showered, washing away Aemond’s haunting scent from your skin, cleansing yourself from thoughts of him.
You were truly, royally, screwed.
Helaena hadn’t brought the previous night up – apart from her still-braided hair, which was proof that last night wasn’t some edible enhanced dream.
Your tote bag handles rested comfortably against your shoulder as you stepped out of class, the blond woman hot on your trails. Your flared pants accentuated your curves swaying down the hall.
“And what about Bae and Rhae?” You inquired, knowing full well that she kept tabs on everyone in her family. You already knew the other guys would be at baseball practice. It was Wednesday.
“They skipped their classes today to study for their midterm tomorrow.”
“Ah, makes sense,” You commented, shooting her a smile.
The two of you made your way through the throngs of students in the halls, finding a sweet escape in the fresh air outside. As you walked along the baseball field, you pulled open your tote bag searching for your phone. Finding said item, you raise your gaze mere seconds before colliding into a large muscular figure.
“Y/n, careful!” Helaena’s intervention came too late.
“Oh gods, I’m so sorry-” You paused, your eyes meeting a familiar face. “Cregan!”
The man held on to you, steadying your faltering frame. You patted his chest with a playful wink as he let go of you to adjust your scarf around your neck. You blushed under his soft attention to detail.
“Hey Y/n!” He smiled, his gaze briefly shifting to Helaena who stared at him disapprovingly, her arms crossed over her chest. “Hey, Hel!”
“Hey yourself.”
“Nice braids!”
Helaena’s face softened, her head nodding towards you.
“I owe it all to my best friend.”
“Yeah I saw everyone’s Instagram stories…” Cregan trailed off, his eyes falling back upon you. “You should do me.”
You released a snicker at the teasing tone, your hand playfully reaching out to touch his own locks of dark hair. “And tame your beautiful curls?”
Across the path, Aemond seethed as he watched you flirt with Cregan effortlessly, as if you hadn’t fallen asleep in his arms the previous night. His jealousy deafened him to Alys’ non-stop chatter about their assignment. Absentmindedly, he nodded along to her words; his eye narrowed on the developing scene. His heart raced as he watched you blush at his rival’s words and charm.
Helaena, saving the day, poked at you with her elbow nodding towards your usual spot. You nodded at her before shooting Cregan a brief wink, walking off with Helaena with entangled arms. As you and your best friend neared the table, you fell back, your eyes finding Alys all over Aemond.
Breath hitching, you faltered in your steps, Helaena looking back at you in confusion. You inhaled deeply and continued walking as if nothing was wrong. Afterall, in your two years of friendship with Helaena and by extent Aemond, the man hadn’t given any explicit sign he held an interest in you. Besides - you shook yourself together as you and Helaena approached - he was your best friend’s brother.
Some lines were not to be crossed.
“You got any plans tonight?” Aemond asked the woman at his side, who shook her head eagerly, as if in relief. “Perfect then. Six O’clock.”
You gulped as you registered the conversation you were walking in on. Helaena’s gaze snaps back to you at the subtle sound. Just as your gaze dropped to the ground, the sounds of the baseballers laughing pulled your attention. Your eyes were downcast as you placed your tote bag on the table, excusing yourself momentarily. Helaena’s eyes widened in realization, her bewildered gaze shifting from you to her brother, then back to you.
Some lines were not to be crossed, you repeated to yourself. It was pointless, you were already so profoundly in love. Moving on was a necessary evil, you reminded yourself, as you retreated towards the baseball field.
Helaena growled in annoyance, as she turned to her brother and Alys. The latter was leaving for a meeting with her wicca club.
“I’ll see you at 6 for the assignment.” She slid out of her seat, shooting Helaena a quick nod.
The blond woman stared at her brother quietly as he watched bitterly you walk off in Cregan’s direction.
“What’s up with that?” Aemond asked through gritted teeth. Helaena rolled her eyes and slammed her vegan leather bag on the table.
“We have a problem.”
“I can see that. Let me guess. You caused it?”
Helaena slapped him over the head, refusing to take the blame in this situation.
“No, you fool!” Helaena’s eyes darted to you as your hands rose to the fence, your fingers gripping on as you called over to Cregan. “You caused it.”
“Me? What the hell did I do?” Aemond’s brows furrowed confusedly.
“Nothing.” She replied in frustration, taking in a deep breath. “That’s the whole problem.”
“So, I caused a problem by doing nothing?”
“Yes! Ugh, wait.” Helaena rubbed her temples in annoyance as she took a deep breath. “I figured out who Y/n is hung up on.”
“Who?” Aemond eye widened, eager for answers.
“You, you bloody idiot.”
“Me?” Aemond’s eyes widened. His heart crashed and burned in the acidic pit of his stomach. He helplessly watched as you captured Cregan’s attention, the baseball player jogging in your direction.
“Cregan asked her on a date, and she said she’d think about it. After she saw you with Alys, I guess she quickly reconsidered her prospects with Cregan.”
Aemond remained quiet, his eyes glued onto you as his sister spoke.
“Make a move before it’s too late, Aem.”
“Hey guys!” Aegon appeared out of nowhere, out of breath. “Can you believe… how fast... Floris Bara...theon runs...” He paused, taking a deep breath. “She found out I met with her cousin in the boiler room. Talk about messy-”
“-Aegon!” Aemond looked up at his elder brother. “Y/n is agreeing to go on a date with Cregan.”
“No way!” Aegon’s eyes flew to the scene, where you were in fact flirting with Cregan. “Good for her! I told her to get laid-”
“-Aegon, go get her, tell her its urgent.”
“I just caught my breath, Aem, I’ve been running across campus-”
“Aegon, please.”
Aegon rushed off without further thought.
You shrieked as you were suddenly picked up and thrown over a shoulder.
“Help I’m being kidnapped!” You yelled. Your panic settles once you hear Aegon’s and the other baseball players laughter. Arching your back to see Cregan, you wave him goodbye, bringing your hand to your ear and gesture with a wiggle of your wrist for him to call you.
You playfully banged your fists against Aegon’s back, demanding to be let down on the ground. He didn’t budge carrying you to the picnic table. Once there, he helped you bring your feet back to the ground.
Crossing your arms on your chest you stared at him in mild annoyance. “What the hell was that about?”
The Targaryen siblings stared at each other awkwardly, trying to come up with a reasonable explanation.
“I found a group costume!” Aegon announced loudly, all heads snapping to him. That was one way to get your attention.
Would you like to go back?
The skies ablaze with dragon fire and the air thick with the scent of death. Aemond watched helplessly as Vhagar, burst through the clouds and devoured Lucerys.
His heart heavy with sorrow, Aemond watched as Helaena Targaryen, was forced to make an impossible choice— Jaehaerys or Maelor? His heart breaking at his sweet sisters scream of anguish as her son was killed.
The scene shifted, and Aemond found himself standing in the courtyard of the Red Keep, surrounded by the sound of the desperate pleas from prisoners. His hands, slick with blood, trembled as he carried out executions with ruthless efficiency, each blow a painful reminder of the cost of war.
The funeral of his nephew, his body wrapped in the shroud hand stitched by Helaena, his little hand clutching his favourite dragon toy.
His own decent into darkness, the cold grip of ruthlessness had seized him and refused to let go.
And then, the fall of Princess Rhaenys and her dragon Meleys at the Battle of Rook's Rest—the gruesome bloody show of the dragon’s severed head paraded through the streets of Kings Landing.
His brother Aegon, injured and vulnerable-as Aemond found himself being crowned Prince Regent, tasked with ruling in his absence.
Alys Rivers, the witch of Harrenhal-her eyes dark and inscrutable as she beckoned to him with a knowing smile. Aemond was drawn to her, unable to resist the magnetic pull of her presence.
As they drew closer, the nightmare twisted into a grotesque parody of intimacy, with Alys wrapping herself around him in a macabre dance of seduction. Aemond's heart pounded in his chest as he watched himself become ensnared in her web, his every instinct screaming for him to break free, to flee from the darkness that threatened to consume him.
But in the nightmare's cruel grip, Aemond was powerless to resist, his will subsumed by the allure of desire and pleasure. And in the throes of passion, he surrendered to the darkness, his actions driven by impulses he could neither comprehend nor control.
As the nightmare continued to unfold, Aemond watched in horror as Alys grew round with his bastard-a son with no name.
Then he saw her-Vaelys, her eyes wide with fear as he stood before her, his own hands wrapped around her throat. He watched in horror as his grip tightened, squeezing the life from her with a brutality that tore at his soul.
The dark version of him, had no love for her-in this world she had been responsible for the death of his brother Daeron, unflinching as she bathed him in dragon fire during the second battle of Tumbleton.
"No-" Aemond's voice broke, a strangled cry escaping his lips as he recoiled from the sight before him. But in the depths of his nightmare, there was no escape, no respite from the anguish that consumed him.
As Vaelys' lifeless form crumpled to the ground, a primal scream tore from Aemond's throat.
His nephew Maelor torn apart by a mob of common folk, the decent of his siter into madness and her fall from the window’s of Maegor’s Holdfast.
In the skies above the God's Eye, the air crackling with the energy of impending battle. He felt the familiar rush of adrenaline course through his veins as he soared through the clouds astride Vhagar.
But his exhilaration was tinged with dread as he spotted the silhouette of another dragon, its massive wingspan blotting out the sun. It was Caraxes, ridden by his uncle Daemon, a formidable adversary with a reputation for ferocity and skill.
As the dragons clashed in a deadly dance of fire and fury, Aemond felt a cold knot of fear tighten in his chest. The air rang with the deafening roar of their flames, the ground below a blur as they circled each other in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Aemond's heart pounded in his chest as he urged Vhagar onward, his mind consumed by a primal instinct to survive at any cost. But as he looked up, his eyes widening in terror, he saw something that chilled him to the bone-a flash of steel glinting in the sunlight, the deadly point of Dark Sister, his uncle's legendary Valyrian steel sword, aimed straight at him.
With a strangled cry of horror, Aemond tried to veer away, to escape the deadly trajectory of the blade. But it was too late, he felt the sharp point of Dark Sister pierce his remaining eye, driving through flesh and bone, agony engulfing him as the blade tore through his skull, its tip emerging from the back of his throat.
With a gasp, Aemond jolted awake, his heart racing in his chest as he struggled to shake off the lingering tendrils of the nightmare. Beside him, Vaelys stirred, her presence a comforting anchor in the darkness.
Trembling, Aemond reached out to her, his fingers tangling in the soft strands of her silver hair as he pulled her close, seeking solace in the warmth of her embrace.
As the dawn's light filtered through the windows of their old chambers in Kings Landing, Vaelys watched with a heavy heart as Aemond stirred fitfully in his sleep. She could see the lines of worry etched upon his brow, the restless toss and turn of his body betraying the torment of his nightmares.
With a sigh, Vaelys reached out to gently brush a strand of hair from Aemond's forehead, her touch light and soothing against his skin. "Aemond," she murmured softly, her voice a gentle caress in the stillness of the morning, "You haven't been sleeping well. Your nightmares-are troubling you."
Aemond's eye fluttered open, the weariness evident as he gazed up at Vaelys with a mixture of gratitude and resignation. "I'm sorry, my love," he whispered, his voice heavy with exhaustion. "I can't seem to escape them, no matter how hard I try."
Vaelys' heart ached at the sight of her husband's anguish, the weight of his nightmares a burden she could scarcely bear. "You don't have to face them alone, Aemond," she reassured him, her voice filled with quiet determination. "I'm here for you, always. We'll face them together."
With a tender smile, she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him close in a comforting embrace. "We'll find a way to ease your troubled mind," she promised, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Whatever it takes."
"Aemond, perhaps the maesters could offer something to help with your sleep," she suggested softly, her voice laced with a mixture of hope and apprehension. "Maybe some dreamwine, to ease the burden of your nightmares."
Aemond's expression softened at her suggestion, a flicker of gratitude crossing his weary features. "It's worth a try," he conceded, his voice tinged with a note of resignation. "Anything to find some relief.”
"I'll speak with Maester Garrick, when we return to Dragonstone-but for now you must try and get some rest" said Vaelys, her voice filled with resolve.
Aemond turned to her, his gaze filled with gratitude and weariness. "I'll try, Vaelys," he replied, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "But the nightmares-"
Vaelys shook her head, her eyes filled with determination. "You don't have to face them alone," she assured him, her voice firm yet gentle. "Let me be your anchor in the storm”.
With a sigh, Aemond nodded, allowing himself to relax into her embrace. As Vaelys wrapped her arms around him, she felt the tension drain from his body, his breaths slowing as he surrendered to the comfort of her touch.
Gently, she began to stroke his hair, her fingers tracing soothing patterns against his scalp. "Close your eyes, my love," she murmured, her voice a tender lullaby in the darkness. "I'll be right here beside you, every step of the way."
As Vaelys continued to stroke Aemond's hair, she felt the tension gradually ebb from his body, his breathing growing slow and steady against her chest. With each gentle caress, she whispered words of comfort and reassurance, her voice a soothing balm against the turmoil of his troubled mind.
And then, gradually, almost imperceptibly, she felt Aemond begin to relax into sleep's embrace. His eyelid fluttered closed; his features softened by the peace of slumber.
Vaelys held him close, her heart overflowing with love and gratitude for the man who had captured her heart. She pressed a tender kiss to his forehead, silently vowing to stand by him ,to be his rock in times of storm and his beacon of light in the darkest of nights.
As Aemond finally succumbed to sleep's gentle embrace, Vaelys felt a sense of profound relief wash over her. In his arms, she found solace and strength, a sanctuary from the cares of the world.
And as she held him close, nestled in the warmth of their shared embrace, she knew that together, they could face whatever challenges lay ahead, united in the unbreakable bond of their love. With a whispered prayer for peaceful dreams, Vaelys closed her own eyes.
Tumblr media
As Aemond watched Vaelys gracefully slipping into her light red gown, his breath caught in his throat, stunned anew by her radiant beauty. The delicate fabric hugged her curves, the colour complementing the warmth of her skin, and he found himself unable to tear his gaze away.
"Vaelys," he murmured, his voice tinged with awe, "You look absolutely breathtaking."
Vaelys turned to him, a soft smile playing at the corners of her lips as she caught the admiration in his eyes. "Thank you, my love," she replied, her voice a melodic whisper. "I wanted to look my best for the celebration."
Aemond couldn't help but chuckle at her modesty, a warmth spreading through his chest at the sight of her. "Well, you've certainly succeeded," he said, his tone affectionate.
Vaelys laughed, the sound like music to his ears as she stepped closer, her hand reaching out to trace the line of his jaw.
Aemond's heart swelled with love for the woman before him, his fingers intertwining with hers as he drew her into his embrace.
And as they shared a tender moment together, bathed in the soft glow of their love, Aemond knew that there was no greater treasure in the world than his wife.
Vaelys met Aemond's gaze with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes, her lips curling into a playful smile. "And what of your beauty husband" she teased, her voice laced with affectionate sarcasm, "I know there are ladies at court who will glance at my husband. With his long flowing silver hair, his reputation as a great swordsman, and let's not forget, the rider of the largest dragon in the world."
Aemond chuckled at her jest, a warm glow of pride spreading through him at her words. "Ah, yes," he replied, a hint of amusement in his tone, “They can look all they want but they'll quickly learn that my heart belongs to only one."
He pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist as he pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. "And she's standing right in front of me," he added, his voice filled with sincerity. "The most beautiful woman in all the Seven Kingdoms."
Vaelys' cheeks flushed with colour at his words, her heart swelling with love for the man who had captured her heart. "Flatterer," she teased, but her eyes sparkled with genuine affection as she leaned into his embrace.
Tumblr media
As they made their way through the quiet hallways of the Red Keep, Aemond couldn't shake the sense of unease that gnawed at him. He could feel the tension radiating from Vaelys beside him, her usual poise marred by the weight of their surroundings.
He stole a glance at her, taking in the furrow of her brow and the tightness of her jaw, and he knew without a doubt what troubled her. This was the first time she had set foot in King's Landing since the argument with her mother, Queen Rhaenyra—a rift that still lingered between them, a wound not easily healed.
But this celebration, in honour of their son Aemon, demanded their presence, and Aemond understood the necessity of putting on a united front for the sake of their family. Still, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt at the discomfort it caused Vaelys.
"Are you alright, my love?" he asked softly, reaching out to gently squeeze her hand. "I know this must be difficult for you."
Vaelys offered him a small, reassuring smile, though he could see the tension still lingering in her eyes. "I'll manage," she replied, her voice tinged with resignation. "For Aemon's sake."
As Aemond and Vaelys entered the grand throne room of the Red Keep, the opulence of the surroundings seemed to fade into the background, overshadowed by the warmth and joy that filled the air. Aemond cradled their son, Aemon, in his arms, the babe’s amethyst eyes wide with wonder.
Vaelys walked beside him, her hand intertwined with those of their other children, Sovia, and Daevyn, who beamed up at their parents with excitement.
The room was alive with music and laughter, the sound of lively conversation mingling with the strains of a cheerful melody. Tables laden with sumptuous food and drink lined the walls, inviting guests to partake in the feast laid out before them.
“Vaelys-over here” said Helaena brightly as he patted the empty chair next to her.
“Hel-where are the children?” asked Vaelys as she sat down.
“Daeron has taken them to visit my mother-“
At the mention of Alicent, Vaelys looked at Aemond who busied himself with making sure Aemon was covered with his blanket.
“She keeps asking for him” whispered Helaena.
“It’s Aemonds choice-” replied Vaelys.
“I know-“ muttered Helaena softly.
“Sovia-please don’t do that” scolded Vaelys as she caught her daughter pulling at the ribbons in her braided hair.
“But mama-” complained Sovia pursing her lips together.
“Listen to your mother byka grēges” said Aemond (Little bug).
“Daddy-nyke ȳdra daor raqagon ziry” replied Sovia (I don’t like it).
Vaelys smiled slightly as she took a sip of wine, any minute now Aemond would cave in and undo the braids in their daughters hair. Her silver curls had always been wild, and she barely tolerated anyone even brushing her hair.
Rider of the mighty Vhagar weak for his daughter.
“Let me take them out then” muttered Aemond handing Aemon to Helaena so he could lift Sovia onto his knee.
“Avy jorrāelan” whispered Sovia (I love you).
“Softie” whispered Vaelys as Aemond rolled his eye as he began undoing Sovia’s braids.
As the revelry filled the throne room, Queen Rhaenyra rose from her seat at the head of the room, her presence commanding the attention of all who gathered there. Her gaze swept over the assembled guests, her expression one of regal pride and affection.
"My lords and ladies," she called out, her voice ringing clear above the din of conversation, "I would ask you to raise your glasses in honour of a joyous occasion—a celebration of new life and boundless hope."
As the room fell silent, all eyes turned to the queen, their attention captured by her words. With a graceful flourish, Rhaenyra lifted her goblet high, the golden liquid within catching the light as it sparkled in the dimly lit room.
"To Prince Aemon Targaryen, my grandson" she declared, her voice filled with warmth and sincerity, "May his future be as bright as the flame of his ancestors, and may he bring honour and glory to House Targaryen for generations to come."
With that, Rhaenyra took a sip from her goblet, the sound of applause erupting around her as the guests followed suit, offering their own toasts to the newest member of their family.
As Rhaenyra's toast echoed through the grand hall, Vaelys raised her goblet with a strained smile, her eyes flickering with a mixture of emotions. The weight of the past argument with her mother still hung heavy in her heart, casting a shadow over the joyous occasion.
Sensing her discomfort, Aemond reached out beneath the table, his hand finding hers in a comforting gesture of solidarity. Their fingers intertwined, a silent reassurance passing between them as they shared a moment of quiet understanding amidst the revelry.
As the festivities continued to swirl around them, Vaelys felt a gentle tap on her shoulder, drawing her attention to her brother, Jace, who stood beside her with a warm smile.
"Vaelys," he said, extending his hand to her, "Would you do me the honour of sharing a dance with your dear brother?"
Vaelys returned his smile, her heart lightening at the sight of him. "Of course, Jace," she replied, placing her hand in his with affectionate familiarity. "I'd be delighted."
Together, they made their way to the centre of the room, where couples twirled and spun to the music. Jace guided Vaelys with practiced ease, their steps falling into rhythm with the lilting melody that filled the air.
Vaelys smiled up at her brother, grateful for this moment of connection amidst the whirlwind of the celebration.
As they danced, they talked about their children, Jace giddy with excitement as he spoke of his daughter Laena, a precious little thing she was, the pearl of his world.
Out of the corner of her eye, Vaelys spied their brother Luke reclined lazily against his chair, he looked rather exhausted, but given the fact that his wife Rheana had recently birthed twin girls, it made sense.
“Mayhaps Luke should retire for the night” laughed Jace.
“Oh, come on brother-you know what the nights are like with a babe” replied Vaelys smiling.
Jace returned her smile, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. "I think you look beautiful tonight, Vaelys," he said, his voice filled with brotherly pride.
Vaelys' heart swelled with love for her brother, her own smile widening at his words. "Thank you, Jace," she replied, her voice soft with emotion.
As the music swirled through the grand hall, a familiar figure caught Vaelys' eye—Cregan, his tall dark form standing out amidst the throng of guests. With a warm smile, he approached her, his gaze earnest as he cleared his throat.
"Princess," he began, his voice steady but tinged with a hint of nervousness, "Would you do me the honour of sharing a dance with an old friend?"
Vaelys' smile widened at the sight of him, her heart lifting at the prospect of dancing with Cregan once more. "Of course, Cregan," she replied, her voice filled with genuine warmth. "I'd be delighted."
As they embraced in a brief hug, Vaelys felt a surge of happiness at seeing her friend again after so long. The bond they had shared during their time together had always held a special place in her heart, and she was grateful for this chance to reconnect.
Together, they stepped onto the dance floor, their movements fluid and graceful as they moved to the rhythm of the music.
As Vaelys danced and conversed with Cregan, a sense of lightness and joy enveloped her, temporarily shielding her from the weight of her worries. However, as she glanced over her shoulder towards Aemond, her heart sank at the sight of his furious expression.
Aemond's gaze was fixed on her, his features contorted with anger. Vaelys' stomach churned with apprehension as she felt the tension radiating from him, a sharp contrast to the warmth she had felt dancing with Cregan.
Concern etched into her features, Vaelys excused herself from her conversation with Cregan, her steps faltering slightly as she made her way towards her husband. She approached him cautiously, her heart heavy with worry.
"Aemond," she murmured softly, reaching out to touch his arm, "Is everything alright?"
Aemond's jaw clenched visibly as he tore his gaze away from her, his anger palpable in the air between them. "Was that Cregan Stark?" he demanded, his voice low and tense.
Vaelys swallowed hard, her throat dry with apprehension. "Yes-“ she replied, her voice tinged with unease.
Aemond's expression darkened further at her words, his fists clenched at his sides. "I don't like the way he was looking at you," he growled, his voice barely more than a harsh whisper.
Vaelys' heart sank at the realization of Aemond's jealousy, a pang of hurt piercing her chest. She had never seen him like this before, consumed by such irrational rage.
"Aemond, please," she pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation. "There's nothing between us. He's just a friend."
But Aemond's fury remained unabated, his gaze unwavering as he continued to glare at her with undisguised resentment.
“A friend that you were almost betrothed too”.
"Aemond, please," she began, her voice trembling slightly, "Cregan was a good friend to me while you were in exile. He offered me support and companionship when I needed it most. There was nothing more between us, I swear."
Aemond's jaw clenched, his anger still simmering beneath the surface. "Oh, I'm sure he was a good friend," he replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "But just how good of a friend was he, Vaelys?"
His words struck her like a blow, and Vaelys felt her heart shatter into a thousand pieces. The insinuation that she had been unfaithful to him cut her to the core.
"Aemond, how can you say that?" she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "You know that I would never betray you. You are the only one I love."
But Aemond remained unmoved, his expression hardened by suspicion. "Forgive me if I find that hard to believe," he retorted, his voice laced with bitterness.
“You know what believe what you want” snarled Vaelys as she turned on her heel and stormed out of the throne room.
After entrusting the care of the children to Ceci, Aemond went to find Vaelys.
Lost in his thoughts, he rounded a corner and nearly collided with Cregan, who stood before him with a cool expression. Aemond's jaw tensed at the sight of him, his possessive instincts flaring to life in an instant.
"What are you doing here?" Aemond demanded, his voice sharp with suspicion.
Cregan raised an eyebrow, his demeanour calm but tinged with a hint of challenge. "I could ask you the same question," he replied evenly. "But I suppose it's none of my concern."
Aemond's grip tightened on his fists, his jealousy simmering just beneath the surface. "Don't play games with me, Stark," he growled. "I know what you're up to."
Cregan's gaze hardened, his own temper beginning to fray. "And what, pray tell, am I up to?" he shot back, his voice laced with frustration.
"You're trying to come between me and Vaelys," Aemond accused, his words laced with venom. "But let me make one thing clear—she's mine, and I won't let anyone take her from me."
Cregan's eyes flashed with anger at the implication, his own temper flaring in response. "I have no interest in your wife, Aemond," he snapped, his voice sharp with indignation. "But if you can't see past your own insecurities, that's your problem, not mine."
The tension crackled between them, a palpable force that seemed to fill the corridor with its intensity. Aemond glared at Cregan, his chest heaving with fury and frustration, while Cregan met his gaze with unyielding defiance, refusing to back down in the face of his aggression.
As Aemond's anger simmered, he glared at Cregan, his possessiveness over Vaelys flaring to life with renewed intensity. "Don't try to deny it," he spat, his voice thick with resentment. "I know you were close to her when I was in exile. You think I don't see the way you look at her?"
Cregan's expression hardened, his jaw clenching with frustration at Aemond's accusations. "You're mistaken, Aemond," he replied evenly, his tone firm. "Yes, Vaelys and I were friends during your absence. But our relationship was purely platonic. I care for her deeply, but not in the way you seem to think."
Aemond scoffed, his disbelief palpable. "Forgive me if I find that hard to believe," he retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You were practically betrothed once. What's to stop you from trying to steal her away from me now?"
Cregan's gaze softened, his frustration giving way to pity. "Aemond, you don't understand," he said, his voice tinged with sadness. "Yes, Vaelys and I were once almost betrothed, but that was long ago. We've both moved on since then. I befriended her during your exile because she needed support, not because I had any ulterior motives."
Aemond's jaw clenched, his jealousy still burning bright despite Cregan's assurances. "And yet, here you are," he shot back, his tone accusatory. "Hovering around her like a vulture, waiting for your chance to swoop in."
"Do you realize what you've done, Aemond?" he demanded, his tone biting. "This celebration was supposed to be for your son, a joyous occasion to celebrate his birth. But your jealousy has ruined it."
Aemond's jaw tensed, his own anger flaring at Cregan's words. "I am not jealous," he shot back, his voice defensive. "I just-I want to protect what's mine."
Cregan scoffed, his disbelief evident. "Protect what's yours?" he mocked; his tone laced with scorn. "From whom, exactly? Me? The truth is, Aemond, your insecurity is what's driving a wedge between you and Vaelys. And frankly, it's pathetic."
Aemond's fists clenched at his sides, his temper flaring at Cregan's taunts. "You have no right to judge me," he retorted, his voice sharp with indignation. "You don't know anything about our relationship."
Cregan's lips curled into a sneer, his contempt for Aemond evident in his gaze. "Oh, I think I know plenty," he replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "After all, when one has to kidnap a woman in order for her to marry him, then your insecurity can't be helped."
Aemond's eye widened in shock at the barb, his face flushing with embarrassment and rage. He opened his mouth to respond but found himself speechless in the face of Cregan's cutting words.
With a final look of disdain, Cregan turned and walked away, leaving Aemond seething with anger and humiliation. And as Aemond stood alone in the empty corridor, the weight of his own insecurities pressed down upon him like a leaden cloak.
Tumblr media
As Aemond stormed through the corridors of the Red Keep, his heart heavy with regret and determination, he searched frantically for Vaelys. Every step echoed in the empty halls, a stark reminder of the chasm that had opened between them.
Finally, he found her in the library, her form illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight. She was engrossed in conversation with her brother, Luke, their heads bent close together in whispered conversation.
With a sense of urgency, Aemond approached them, his footsteps echoing in the quiet room. Vaelys looked up as he drew near, her expression guarded as she met his gaze.
"Aemond," she greeted him coolly, her tone betraying none of the warmth he had grown accustomed to.
"Vaelys, may I speak with you privately?" Aemond requested, his voice strained with emotion.
Luke's eyes narrowed at the request, his lips curling into a sneer as he glanced at Aemond. "And why should she speak with you, after the way you've treated her?" he retorted, his voice dripping with disdain.
Aemond's jaw clenched at the implication, his frustration mounting with each passing moment. "This is between Vaelys and me," he replied evenly, struggling to keep his temper in check.
Luke chuckled mirthlessly, shaking his head in disbelief. "You truly are an idiot, Aemond," he remarked, his voice filled with contempt as he brushed past him.
Aemond's fists clenched at his sides, his heart heavy with despair as he watched Luke leave the room. He turned back to Vaelys, his gaze pleading as he searched her face for any sign of forgiveness.
But Vaelys remained silent, her expression unreadable as she regarded him with a mixture of disappointment and resignation.
As Aemond stood before Vaelys, his heart heavy with remorse, he took a deep breath, steeling himself to apologize. "Vaelys, I'm sorry," he began, his voice soft with sincerity. "I shouldn't have said those things, and I shouldn't have doubted you. I let my jealousy get the best of me, and I regret it more than anything."
Vaelys looked at him with incredulity, her eyes flashing with a mixture of hurt and disbelief. "You're sorry?" she scoffed; her voice tinged with bitterness. "Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound, Aemond? How could you even for one minute think that I would ever look at another man? I'm married to you, Aemond. I've birthed three of your children. And yet you still doubt me?"
Aemond's heart sank at her words, the weight of his own insecurities pressing down upon him like a suffocating blanket. "I know, Vaelys," he replied, his voice tinged with desperation. "I know I messed up. But please, you have to believe me. I love you more than anything in this world, and I would do anything to make things right between us."
As Aemond stood before Vaelys, the weight of his insecurities pressing down upon him like a heavy burden, he took a shaky breath, steeling himself to confess his deepest fear.
"Vaelys," he began, his voice barely more than a whisper, "I-I'm afraid."
Vaelys' brow furrowed with concern as she gazed at him, her heart aching at the vulnerability in his eyes. "Afraid of what, Aemond?" she asked softly, reaching out to gently touch his arm.
Aemond swallowed hard, his throat tight with emotion. "I'm afraid-that you only love me because of what happened between us," he confessed, his words tumbling out in a rush. "That somehow, our love isn't real. It's-it's almost like an illusion."
Vaelys' heart shattered at his words; the pain evident in her eyes as she took in the depth of his insecurity. "Aemond, no," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "That's not true. Our love is real, I swear it. It's not based on what happened in the past. It's based on us, on who we are together."
Aemond shook his head, his gaze filled with self-doubt. "But how can you be sure?" he pleaded; his voice laced with desperation. "How can you know that it's not just some twisted result of me kidnapping you?"
Vaelys reached out and cupped his face in her hands, her eyes locking with his as she spoke with unwavering conviction. "Because I know you," she declared, her voice steady with determination. "I know the man you are, and I love you for it. Our love is real, Aemond, and nothing will ever change that."
Tears welled in Aemond's eye as he looked at her, his heart overflowing with emotion at her words.
As the tension between them began to ease, Aemond mustered a small smile, his eye twinkling with mischief. "Now that we've finished arguing," he quipped, "Does that mean we get to make up?"
Vaelys couldn't help but laugh at his cheeky remark, her heart lightening at the sight of his playful demeanour. "Given the severity of our argument," she replied with a teasing smile, "There needs to be a lot of making up done."
Aemond's grin widened at her response, his gaze filled with warmth as he reached out to gently brush a strand of hair from her face. "I'm up for it if you are," he murmured, his voice low and husky with desire.
Vaelys' cheeks flushed pink at his suggestive tone, her heart fluttering in her chest at the promise in his words. "I think I can manage that," she replied, her own voice tinged with anticipation.
Tumblr media
“Aemond” gasped Vaelys her eyes rolling into the back of her head.
“That’s it ābrazȳrys, take every fucking inch of me-let me fill your sweet cunt” (Wife).
“Oh, please Valzȳrys. I want it. I want all of you” moaned Vaelys (Husband).
“FUCK” roared Aemond as he hauled Vaelys away from the bookcase and placed her the edge of a desk.
“Yes-Yes Aemond, Oh gods” breathed Vaelys.
“I love you-I love you so fucking much” growled Aemond as he mercilessly fucked his wife, filling her over and over again with sharp penetrating thrusts.
“Aemond-yes, right there. Don’t stop-don’t stop” cried Vaelys the tears running down her pale cheeks.
“That’s it Issa jorrāelagon. Come on daddy’s cock” rasped Aemond lurching forward and wrapping his lips around one of his wife’s erect nipples.
Suckling greedily as her mother’s milk flooded his mouth, he reached down and began expertly circling her pearl with his long fingers.
“AEMOND” screamed Vaelys her entire body seizing before going slack and pliant.
“FUCK-I’m going to come-“ groaned Aemond.
“I want it-fill me with your seed Issa dārys” gasped Vaelys (My King).
“FUUUUUCK” roared Aemond, his head thrown back as rope after rope of his seed spilled inside his wife’s cunny.
“Aemond” breathed Vaelys as her husband collapsed on top of her.
“I love you so much-“ replied Aemond.
“-And I love you. I never want you to doubt my love, no one will ever compare to you-my soul mate”.
“Issa idañnykeā perzys” muttered Aemond (My twin flame).
“Husband” breathed Vaelys as she slid her hands into his long silver hair and pulled his face towards hers.
“Wife” replied Aemond as he pressed a kiss to her soft lips.
As they basked in the warmth of their reconciliation, an idea began to form in Vaelys' mind, a way to prove to Aemond once and for all that their love was real and unshakeable. With a spark of excitement in her eyes, she turned to him, her voice filled with determination.
"Will you marry me?” asked Vaelys.
Aemond's brow furrowed in confusion. "We’re already married," he pointed out, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Vaelys shook her head, a smile playing at the corners of her lips. "I know, but marry me in the ways of old Valyria," she explained, her voice soft but determined. "On Dragonstone. On our beach"
Aemond's eye widened in surprise at her suggestion, his heart swelling with love and admiration for the woman before him.
With a trembling voice, he finally found the words to respond. "Vaelys," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion, "I-I would be honoured to marry you-again”.
Summary: Anora Stark, the younger sister of Lord Cregan Stark, is sent south in order to do her duty and marry the prince Aemond Targaryen. Chapter I
The carriage ride from Winterfell to King's Landing was calm at best, boring and too long at worst. She would have preferred to make the trip by boat, but storms have haunted the narrow sea since the start of the year, and the journey by land was much safer. Though it was autumn, the weather in the south was much more forgiving, except for the heavy rains that encountered them in the Riverlands. But all that was left behind, now that Anora and her party made their way through the King’s gate, into the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, and her month long trip came to an end.
Anora slightly moved one of the carriage curtains, in order to observe the city and its people. The streets were full of people, some making business, other’s just walking around, but most followed her entourage with their eyes, either knowing what her arrival meant or questioning what was happening. She had heard stories of how Kings Landing was not an ideal place to live in, how the smell was overwhelming and the people dangerous, and though the rumors about the odors seemed to be true, the population seemed just like the one in White Harbor: busy, hard working, a community. In a moon, those will be her people, hers to protect and care for.
She’s to be married to the prince of the realm, Aemond Targaryen, and to unite their noble families. She didn’t know the prince, only the stories and rumors that surrounded him. They said that he had lost an eye, though the specific circumstances no one agreed on: some said that his dragon, the mighty Vhagar, ate it when he claimed her; other’s say that his older sister, the princess Rhaenyra, had it ordered as revenge, for prince Aemond had questioned the legitimacy of her three eldest children. She had also heard of his character, how he was cold and aloof, a good fighter and a fast learner, how he loved his mother, followed his duty to a T, and how he was the picture perfect image of a valyrian prince.
When the betrothal request had reached Winterfell, her brother Cregan had been hesitant to accept it. She was his little sister, after all, and he didn’t want to throw her in the jaws of a dragon. She was the one that accepted the proposal, that had the final say. Even though she was unsure, and truthfully nervous about the union and the type of person that her future husband would be, this was a very advantageous match. Not only would it make her a princess, but her children would be possible dragon riders, her house would be protected by the crown, and the prince was the same age as her, a luxury that other brides couldn’t afford.
She had heard from Lord Manderly's wife, that the prince was quite handsome, if you ignored his marred eye, and that he seemed to be dutiful and honorable, and the complete opposite of his older brother, who was a drunk adulterer. She hoped they could find an amicable marriage, and from what she had heard about prince Aemond, she believed she would at least tolerate his company. She could only hope that he would find her presence endurable as well.
As she noticed that they were nearing the Red Keep's walls, her nerves started to arise. She had never been south of the neck, much less in court. Both her parents were from the North, which meant that she wasn’t taught the ways of the South. She had read and educated herself about them, truthfully reading seemed like the only thing she did during the weeks on the road, but she feared it was not enough. Would she make a fool of herself in front of her betrothed, of his family, of the entire court? What if the prince hated her? Or what if she hated him, if he was cruel and vile?
Her anxiety-ridden thoughts were interrupted by her carriage passing through the castle walls, into an open courtyard where an entourage of people were waiting to welcome her, including her betrothed and the royal family. She hastily let go of the curtain, closing it and blocking her view of the group of people awaiting her. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, waiting for her name to be announced for her to exit the coach and finally meet her future husband. When it did happen, her door was opened, and one of the servants came to help her out of the carriage. When her feet landed on the ground, she smoothed her skirts and looked in the direction of the royal family. There stood the queen Alicent Hightower, wearing a beautiful and modest dark green dress, and a welcoming smile on her face. On her right stood a tall, older man, also supporting green clothes and a golden broach in his doublet, meaning that he could be none other than Otto Hightower, the queen’s father and the Hand of the King. She also sees who she can surmise to be prince Aegon and princess Helaena, and their three small children. Prince Aegon seems bored, like he wishes to not be there, while princess Helaena has a distant but sweet expression on her face, and her youngest son, Maelor, in her arms.
In the middle of them all, stood a man who was undeniably her husband-to-be. He was tall and slender, though strong, had long silver hair, a handsome face, and an indigo eye. Eye, a singular one. The other one was covered by an eye patch, which fails to conceal the whole of the scar that peeks from above his brow and down his left cheek. She takes a few steps in their direction, and makes a deep and elegant courtesy, keeping her eyes down to show respect. When she corrected her posture and lifted her eyes again, she made eye contact with her betrothed. He had a blank, aloof expression on his face, she could not tell what he was thinking, and it scared her a bit. In her restlessness, she gave him a small, polite smile, and turned her gaze to his right, where his mother was. She was immediately greeted by the queen's warm brown eyes, and her kind expression.
“We welcome you, Lady Stark, to our home and to our family. We hope you enjoy yourself, and may we grow close to one another.” The queen spoke to her, with a gentle but firm voice.
Anora smiled at the older woman, and at her family.
“Thank you, your grace. You are the most kind. I also hope that we may grow into a happy union, and I will follow my duty as the future princess in the meanwhile”.
After all the courtesies and gentilities are exchanged, Anora is instructed to her chambers. Her rooms are large and welcoming, having a lot of light, warm and rich furniture, and a large and comfortable looking bed. She was gifted a sleeping chamber, a sitting chamber, and a dining room, as well as some castle maids. She had brought along two of her lady’s of company from Winterfell, Audra Whitehill and Moira Woolfield, who were her friends since childhood, but the extra hands and company pleased her. She knew not to get too accustomed with her new rooms, since she would be moved to her husband's chambers once they got married. When the door of her room closed and she was left by herself for the time being, she took her shoes and jewelry off and laid in her new bed.
There was to be a welcoming feast later in the evening, to celebrate her arrival and her betrothal to the prince. But for now she intended to rest, and maybe calm her nerves before she was to encounter him again. The way he looked at her, and the lack of expression on his face still haunted her. What did he think of her? Did he find her beautiful? Did he have a good first impression, or was he displeased with her? She turned to her side, unable to fall asleep. She was overthinking it, she had to rest to be in her best mood during the feast. Anora blew the candles on her bedside table and laid a blanket over her body, before finally falling asleep.
She was awoken a few hours later by her lady’s, in order for her to get ready for the banquet. They bathed her, dressed her, brushed her hair and styled it, painted and treated her face in order to enhance her natural beauty. In the end, Anora felt splendid. She was dressed in a soft blue, almost gray dress that matched her eyes. Her jewelry was simple but beautiful, made of silver and engraved with delicate patterns. Her hair was half up in a conglomerate of elegant braids that crowned her head, while the other half fell down her back in her natural curls. In her face, they applied some cream rouge to her cheeks, eyelids and lips, and brushed her eyebrows. She hoped that her betrothed would find her appearance pleasant. When she expressed her wishes to Moira, she whispered back:
“How could he not? Look at you Anora! He would stupid if he found you anything less than breathtaking.”
They giggled like little girls at this, and Anora felt her anxieties calm down a bit. When the time struck, one of her guards knocked at her door to tell her that she had to leave for the feast now. She made her way to the throne room, where the celebration was taking place, with her household guards at both her sides. When she arrived just outside the room, one of the royal guards told her to wait there until her name was announced, then, and only then, was she allowed to go through the doors and enter the throne room, where her betrothed was already seated.
The nerves came back, and she started to feel her hands getting sweaty. She made a last effort to look as presentable as possible, smoothing her skirts, adjusting her bustle, retouching her hair and her jewelry. Finally, after what felt like hours, her name and titles were announced to the court, and the double doors opened.
She started walking at a slow but sure pace, being careful not to trip in her skirts while also keeping her eyes up. She could see him sitting in the middle of the dais, and she noticed that he was already looking at her. His eye held no negative emotion, but it also didn’t show any positive one. It just stared at her and at her every move. She refused to break eye contact, and held it even when she stopped in front of the grand table installed on the foot of the Iron Throne, and curtsied for the royal family.
As it was expected, prince Aemond stood up, and made his way to her side, where he bowed and offered his arm to her. She took it gently, and noticed how warm and firm it was. She couldn’t help but to blush. They made their way to their seats in the middle of the dais, where he pulled her chair back to allow her to sit. He took his chair on her left side, and with that, the feast began.
Do you know what I imagine? I think there will be a juxtaposition between Blood And Cheese and possibly a Jacegan scene, not only would it be cool because of the Jacegan (Well, actually it would be cool if it was just Jacegan, hehe), but it would show us a contrast while some suffer (My poor Helaena) and others enjoy (Jace, my prince), something like they put a knife to Helaena's neck and then we are shown a scene in which Jace receives a kiss on the neck, maybe I'm a little delusional, but you know? I don't mind.
How could you be so blind? - Part II
Tumblr media
Modern!Aemond Targaryen x Blind!Reader
Summary: Aemond sees you as the most beautiful woman in the world but you can't see that. (sorry I suck at summaries.)
Warnings: angst, reader is a female, slow burn, eventual smut
Words: 2k
A/n: English is not my first language. Also, I'm freaking happy like the first part!! Thank you so much for the reblogs and kind comments.
Part one / Part three
“The First Men.” Aemond's voice sounds through the large kitchen. “What is this?” He asks as he pulls his shirt on.
Alys turns to him with a cup of coffee in her hand. “Oh... I bought you that yesterday. I was out shopping and saw that book.” She says while resting her head on his shoulder, taking a sip of her hot coffee. “Thought that you might like it.”
Aemond frowns, pondering how she knew that he like historical books. He never shared his interest with her since they weren’t exactly a thing, just fuck buddies.
“Thanks.” He hums as he goes put away the book to read later.
Alys wraps her long arms around his waist, resting her head on his back. “I was thinking. Maybe I could go with you to your company party this weekend.” She says with excitement. “You know that your mom will freak out if you go without a date.”
Aemond pushes her away, scowling down at her. “I already have someone in mind. Sorry.” He walks towards his bedroom, wanting to get ready for his busy day. “Now if you don’t mind, I need to go get ready. I’m gonna have lunch with Helaena.”
Alys huffs and grabs her purse. “Whatever.” She says as she slams the front door, making Aemond roll his eye.
Grabbing his phone, he writes a sweet good morning text to you and then hops to his shower.
//// \\\\
“Is everything okay?” Helaena asks, frowning softly.
Since Aemond arrived at the restaurant, he couldn’t stop checking his phone. Hoping to see a text from you.
He puts his phone back in his pocket and nods. “Yes...” He takes a bit of his meal and sighs. “It’s just... Y/n hasn’t said a thing since yesterday and you know that we talk every day.”
Helaena hums. “Yeah. You two are inseparable.”
Aemond blushes a little at her words but was quick to hide it from Helaena. “Have you talked to her?”
She shakes her. “No. The last time I was with her was yesterday. She needed my help to choose a book for you-Oh! By the way, did you like it?” She says excitedly, jumping a little on her sit.
“Book?” Aemond tilts his head to the side, confused by her words but quickly disappears as he started connecting the dots. Thinking about the book that Alys said she “bought” for him. That she-devil! She lied to me!
“Yeah! She wanted to give you a gift after you spoiled her so much.” Helaena giggles as she takes a sip of her water. “Actually, she said she was gonna pass by your penthouse this morning to give it to you before her classes.”
Swearing under his breath, Aemond stood up quickly. Throwing enough money to pay for both their food. “I’m sorry Helaena! I need to go.” He says as he walks out of the restaurant, leaving behind a confused Helaena.
//// \\\\
“Are you sure that she hasn’t been here?” Aemond asks one of your classmates.
After leaving Helaena at the restaurant, he got in his car and drove as quickly as he could to your university. How could he be so stupid?! During the year he knows you, he never felt so happy in his life. You never judged or used him for his wealth or fame. You simply like him for who he is. Something that it's hard for him to find in someone.
The feelings he had for you were confusing. He never felt this way towards someone, not even towards Alys and he knows her for years. Aemond never was good at talking about his feelings, especially to the person that he might think he was in love with.
So he buried and tried to use Alys as a distraction which didn’t work since whenever he was in bed with her, he always imagine you lying underneath him, a whimpering and moaning mess, instead of Alys. One time, he almost moaned your name instead of hers.
Helaena and Aegon always joked about him and you make a cute couple, well Aegon’s jokes weren’t very pleasant but that was something Aemond was used to.
Aemond always rolled his eye whenever they start talking about you and him, knowing fully well that someone as beautiful and cheerful as you would never end up with a person like him.
“Huh...yes. She didn’t come to the classes today.” Your classmate says, afraid to anger him even more. “Look, maybe go to her apartment. She might be there.”
Aemond sighs and nods thanks, walking towards his car.
//// \\\\
A loud yawn escaped from your lips as you rub the sleep away from your eyes. “Alexa, what time it is?”
“It’s currently 16 am.”
You hum, sitting up on your bed and grabbing your walking stick and your phone. “Didn’t mean to sleep that long.” You sigh as you walk towards your small kitchen, grabbing a glass of water.
The morning events are still live in your head. Tears still prickle the corners of your eyes but don’t fall down. You can’t be mad at Aemond. He didn’t do anything wrong since you both aren’t together but still hurts.
Grabbing your phone, you unmute it and order Alexa to read the messages that you might have. Alexa starts reading the messages, some from your mom asking you when you come home to visit them. Then there was a message from your professor and some classmates.
Just as you thought it was the last one, Alexa reads a message that made your heart drop.
“Message from Aem <3 – Good morning, Darling. Hope you had wonderful dreams. See you soon.”
Your bottom lip trembles as tears tried to break free from your eyes. You took a deep breath and close your eyes, thinking you will not cry again.
Taking a sit on your comfy sofa, you grab your phone and start looking for a dog trainer. You have been blind since you were little and you were trained to use a cane to see but you always wanted to have a guide dog.
Your parents couldn’t afford it at the time so you stayed with your walking stick. But now you can get a guide dog, you have been saving money for years and finally have enough money for it.
Alexa read all the advertisements from several trainers and breeders but a certain one got your attention.
A breeder of wolfdogs. They breed and train them for a fair price, still very expensive but you had enough for it. You start making a search for this breed, studying carefully so you can be prepared.
You hum happily when Alexa says that they are extremely large and very protective of their owners, making them a perfect loyal dog. You will feel safer now walking around in the streets.
Dialing the number from the breeder, you mark an appointment for this weekend.
Your smile dies a little when you heard a knock at your door. Standing up, walking slowly towards it. “Who is it?”
The voice that responds to you made your heart beat rapidly. “It’s me... Aemond.”
There’s a long silence. You stood frozen by the door, afraid to open it.
“C-Can I come in?” His voice was small and vulnerable.
You quickly open it and put a fake smile on your lips, trying to act as normal as you can. “Of course! Sorry, I just woke up from a nap so I'm still half asleep.” You say with a chuckle, letting him enter and closing the door.
You heard him take a sit on the sofa as you go make some tea for both of you.
“You didn’t go to your classes today.” He says as you give him his cup.
Sitting beside him, you take a sip of your tea and nod. “Y-Yeah... I was feeling a lil sick.”
You both stood there in awkward silence. Not knowing what to say. You couldn’t see the guilt on Aemond’s face but you could feel it through his body language. The way he couldn’t stop shaking his leg or how his fingers were tapping loudly on his cup.
“Y/n... Sorry about-”
“Did you get the book? I hope you like it!” You cut him off. You know that you should let him explain but right now, you can’t hear the truth. That he’s with a supermodel.
“Huh... Oh, yes. Thank you for the book. It was very kind of you, Darling.” That nickname always makes you a blushing mess but now you try to ignore it which, unfortunately, Aemond notices.
“Look, Y/n.” He starts. His hands were sweaty from the anxiety that he was feeling right now. “About this morning-”
Again, you cut him off. “Oh yes! I met your girlfriend.” You force a smile, trying to pretend that you are happy for him. “She seems really... charming. She’s very lucky to have you.”
Aemond sighs and rubs his hand on his face. Not knowing what to say to you. Of course, Alys isn’t his girlfriend but at the same time, he doesn’t want you to know that he has a fuck buddy. Afraid of what would you think of him if you knew the truth.
Grabbing your hand softly, noticing how you jump a little at the contact. “I’ve been wanting to ask you something.”He starts, rubbing softly his thumb on your smooth skin. “This weekend my family company will have a party. I want you to be my date.” He states confidently.
You know about the party since Helaena told you. And about the dress. Tilting your head to the side, confused by his invite.
“What about your girlfriend?” You asked.
He cups your jaw softly in his hand, his thumb dangerously near your lower lip. “Y/n she’s n-”
“I’m busy this weekend!” You blur out. “I have an appointment with a trainer.”
Aemond frowns. “A trainer?”
You nod, turning your head away from his warm touch. “Yes! I finally saved enough money to get a guide dog.”
“Darling... You know that I could have helped you with that.” He sighs softly.
You huff and cross your arms in front of your chest. “Aemond I know very well that your help would be a dog fully trained at my door the next day.” You hear him chuckle which made you smile a little. “You know very well that I like to pay for my own things.”
“Stubborn as ever.” He says with a warm smile.
You two sat there in silence. Still feeling a strange mood between you two. Grabbing the 2 cups of tea, you stood up and walk to your kitchen, putting the cups in the sink.
“Well... I need to finish some important paperwork.”You say while fiddling with your fingers.
Aemond stood up, gets the cue, and walks to you. “Very well, Darling... See you later.” He leans down and kisses your forehead gently. He then leaves you, closing your door softly.
The weekend arrives quicker than you thought. You and Aemond barely talk since the last time you saw him. He still sends you good morning texts or asks you how was your day, but it’s not the same as it was.
As you walk out of the bus that you took to meet the trainer, two girls behind gossip about the Targaryen party.
“Did you see Aemond’s date?” One said.
“Alys Rivers?! Yeah, I saw it. They make such a sexy couple.” The other response with a high pitch squeak.
“For real!! I didn’t know that they were dating.” You walk faster, not wanting to hear about Aemond and his girlfriend anymore. This is supposed to be the best day of your life. Finally get a guide dog that will help, protect you, and most importantly, he’s gonna be a companion.
When you arrive, you ring the bell and wait a little. Feeling a little nervous about the interview. The door opens and a soft, sensual masculine voice sounded before you.
“Hi! You must be Y/n.” The man takes your small hand on his larger one.
“I’m Cregan Stark. It's nice to meet you.”
Ehehehe a new love interest? Aemond may have competition >.> Also I need help to choose a name for the new puppy. Feel free to share your ideas!
Pairings: Aemond Targaryen x reader, Cregan Stark x reader, Helaena Targaryen x reader (best friend), Aegon Targaryen x reader (platonic) Rhaena Targaryen x reader (platonic), Baela Targaryen (platonic)
Tropes: Jealousy, mutual pining, alternate universe (modern university setting), She/her reader
Summary: Y/n always had a crush on Aemond. Her close friendship with Helaena stopped her from crossing the fine line of friendship with Aemond, who silently returns her feelings.
Tumblr media
“It’s taking forever!” Aegon whined, ducking as Helaena threw a handful of glitter in his direction.
“Oh hush!” Helaena shot him a smile through the cloud of sparkles. “You’re the one that agreed to help.”
“And to think, Floris Baratheon asked me to tutor her in Westerosi Colonisation.”
Your paintbrush halted in its movement, an unfinished letter etched in red against the white poster. You looked up to meet his lilac eyes.
“You’re failing that class,” You pointed out casually, to which the blond man nodded in response.
“I am,” He agreed, a smirk pulling at his lips. “She wants me.”
Groans in unison were smothered by Aegon’s obnoxious laugh. You shared a look with Helaena, your eyes rolling back before landing upon your projects.
Monday. The day was warm; the group decided to sit behind the baseball field as you usually did, on a picnic table surrounded by trees. This was the ideal spot outdoors on campus, in your opinion. The baseball players were always such a sight, despite the game being boring enough to be background to your daily shenanigans.
Helaena had asked the group to help her make posters for her activism club’s newest cause: The Mexican Cartel’s threat to Monarch Butterflies. Rhaena and Baela hoped on to the opportunity to do something creative for once. The girls were in finance programs, which made such opportunities rare. Aegon only agreed because he’d have an excuse to talk to Helaena’s hot activist friend – who coincidentally fell sick. You wanted to help your best friend.
The whole group was there – except Aemond. He was probably late, it was easily brushed off. His internship at his father’s company was taking up most of his time anyways.
Your gaze drifted off dreamily towards the field as a bat struck loudly. You watched as Cregan ran to first base.
“I really should answer his dms,” You mumbled to yourself in thought.
“Cole?” Aegon inquired.
“Jace?” Baela suggested in turn.
“Larys?” Rhaena offered, prompting everyone’s laughter.
“As if. That creep only messages our dear Y/n for feet pics. She definitely means Cregan.” Helaena shook her head dejectedly, almost in disappointment.
“Ding ding ding!” You grinned awkwardly, your eyes shooting to hers, as she retreated her attention back to her painting of a monarch butterfly. You paused, wondering if you should ask her what prompted this change in attitude. You cleared your throat, shifting your gaze towards the field. You watched as Cregan stretched, showing off his muscles for everyone to see. “He’s so cocky it’s infuriating. Ugh, I so regret not answering that ‘you up?’ text.”
“Please! It’s not like you don’t receive one ever other night…” Helaena mumbled, causing Aegon to drop his paintbrush dramatically, splashing everyone with red paint. Collective groans were suppressed by his enthusiasm, as he wrapped an arm around your neck and brought your heads closer in a near collision.
“Hey, hey, hey! No. We do not slut shame in this group!” Aegon said proudly, tutting away his sisters attempts at clearing the misunderstanding. You waved her worries away with a roll off your eyes; Aegon was just being dramatic. “Besides, it’s not like Y/n ever answers those texts.”
“How would you know?” You ask, almost indignantly.
“Look at how tense you are!” Aegon unwrapped his arm, his hand remaining on your shoulder as his eyes surveyed you. He then turned you to look at Rhaena and Baela. “Look at them! They don’t look tense at all; I guess their boyfriends are good at what they do.”
Before the twins could object, or consider if they even wanted to object, Aegon turned you once more to look at Helaena. “Now look at Hel: she looks so tense it looks like she has a metal rod up her-“
“-Hey!” Helaena threw her paintbrush at Aegon who pulled you with him down to duck the makeshift missile. An ungodly shriek escaped you as you landed on your ass, Aegon seizing at your side in a fit off giggles. You punched the blond man in the shoulder in annoyance, your eyes falling to your raised skirt. Red flew to your cheeks as your hands darted to straighten the material over your thighs appropriately.
“I swear to the Gods, Aegon, if Cregan saw my granny panties, I would never be able to live it down!”
“Don’t you have anything nicer? Even I wouldn’t touch that with a ten-foot pole,” Aegon remained lying on the grass, leaning against his forearm as he gave you a suggestive once over.
“It’s laundry day!” You stammered, your face flushing crimson in embarrassment. “I wouldn’t wear these panties- Wait, let’s just stop talking about my panties, okay! Can we just stop saying the word panties?”
A handful of flutteringly impatient fingers appeared in your field of vision, offering a helping hand to stand. Your hand instinctively clasped around it, allowing yourself to be pulled up. Your brain slowly caught up to your movements as you registered who your eyes fell upon. Your gaze slowly followed up the leather jacket clad arm, to the curve of a strong shoulder, to finally meet Aemond’s lilac gaze.
Well shit.
“You’re the one that keeps saying it,” He commented, as he effortlessly brought you to stand. He nodded to everyone’s greeting, before looking down at his brother who was laying on the grass leisurely.
You immediately smoothed out your skirt, made sure it was covering all the appropriate areas, before returning to your seat in a huff. Baela playfully knocked your shoulder with hers as you resumed painting the letters on the cart board.
“No matter how much I hate to admit it, Aegon is right.”
“He is?” You asked, your brows rising in astonishment.
“I am?” He too, seemed equally surprised. He quickly rose to his feet, dusted off his clothes before arrogantly returning to his seat between you and Helaena, closest to his sister so his brother would have room to join you.
Aemond picked up the discarded paintbrush, returning it to Helaena, who whispered a thanks.
“Aegon is right about what?” Aemond asked as he sat besides you, the leather of his jacket brushing against the wool off your knitted sweater.
“That’s what I want to know,” You replied, ignoring the shiver that ran up your spine at Aemond’s proximity. There was something about that man; despite him being your friend and your best friend’s brother which made him off limits, it equally made him as enticing.  You suppressed a sigh as his cologne made its way up your nose, shifting your attention to their cousin Baela.
“Okay don’t stone me for saying this, but you should get laid!”
Your jaw dropped at her words, before laughing loudly, your head hanging back. You almost didn’t feel the way Aemond stiffened at your side, and you were oblivious to the look Helaena shot him. Your attention was pulled by Aegon who pointed in your direction, a massive smirk etched into his features.
“You see! I told you!”
“Alright!” You conceded, your hands rising in the air. You bumped Baela’s shoulder with a wink. “I’ll consider it, after midterms this week.”
“Just in time for Lannister Hall's Halloween Party…” Aegon grinned wickedly, all but rubbing his paint-stained hands maliciously. “You guys know what I’m thinking?”
“We need to go costume shopping!” Rhaena’s eyes sparkled in excitement, her hands flying to Helaena and Baela’s wrists. “Are we thinking group costumes?”
“Count me out,” Aemond said automatically, everyone booed him, but you.
“I wanted to go as Sally!” You pouted, not having planned for such an outcome.
“Sally?” Helaena frowned, scratching her head as if she was digging deep to figure out who you were talking about.
“You know, from Nightmare Before Christmas?”
The girls awed in approval.
“Hmm.” Aemond hummed, bringing his loose blond hair over his ear. It was so silky and long, you felt jealousy course through you. You were pulled from your thoughts as he continued. “Like Jack and Sally.”
“Yes, exactly!” You smiled.
“Oh, like the Blink-182 song!” Aegon nodded in understanding, clearly having never seen the movie. Helaena swatted him over the head as Baela and Rhaena called him uncultured. You rolled my eyes as you finished transcribing the slogan onto the poster.
‘Save the monarchs and avocado producers from the Mexican Cartel!’
“What a mouthful…” You mumbled, prompting snickers to rise around the picnic table.
“That’s what she said,” Aegon naturally retorted.
“Maybe add some avocados around it! That’ll get people’s attentions,” Helaena proposed. You nodded, dipping your paintbrush into the water can. You twirled it into the water until the tip was clean.
“Anyways, group costumes anyone?” Aegon reiterated.
“Well, we’re six…” Helaena began, Aemond swift to cut in.
“Five.”
“Four!” You raised your hand in agreement; you already had a costume.
“Three, two, one!” Baela jumped in, bringing your hand down.
“Enough with the shenanigans. It’s a wonder we ever get anything done.” Aemond sighed aggravatedly as the flimsy bottle of glitter opened between his fingers. The sparkles went everywhere, sticking to his black leather jacket and clinging to his hands. He ran a hand through his hair in annoyance.
“You have glitter in your hair,” You stated, looking up to meet his gaze at your side. His eyes flew away to his sister, who nodded slowly, as if trying not to laugh. Aemond flushed in anger as Aegon burst out laughing. “It’s okay, Aemond. You look good. Like a shiny vampire in Twilight.”
Snickers followed your teasing words. Aemond rolled his eyes, a flush staining on his cheeks.
“Guys, focus!” Rhaena called you all to order. “You’re all forgetting that there’s two big Halloween Parties happening this weekend: Lannister Hall’s on Saturday and Baratheon Hall’s on Friday. Officially, the October 31st is Saturday, so makes sense that Lannister’s will be bigger, but they're both costume parties.”
“We can do both!” You then agreed. It was settled.
“Not happening,” Aemond remained firm on his stance.
“Oh, my gods, Y/n,” Rhaena whispered hurriedly. You looked up from your painted avocados, meeting her and Helaena’s wide eyes.
“Hm?”
Aegon nodded his head to look behind you; you turned, everyone turned their attention as three of the baseball players jogged your way.  Cregan, Jace, and Criston. Aemond stiffened at your side.
It was almost as if Cregan’s slow paced run was intentional, letting the wind run through his hair. Your eyes followed as he strode up to your picnic table, the baseball bat in his hand rising to rest over his shoulders, showing off his glorious biceps.
“Hey guys,” He briefly glanced around the table before landing his gaze on you. “Hey Y/n!”
“Hey Cregan,” You raised a brow curiously, nodding your head towards Jace who approached his cousins inquiring about the project, and then to Criston who fist bumped Aemond. Cregan soon captured your attention with his bright smile.
“I couldn’t help but notice your nasty fall earlier. Hope you didn’t hurt yourself too bad.”
Your eyes widened in embarrassment, face flushing, quickly shooting Aegon an ‘I-will-smite-you-where-you-stand’ glare. He poked his tongue out at you. You flipped him off before returning your attention to Cregan.
“It hurt my pride more than anything,” You conceded with a small smile, swallowing your embarrassment. Cregan laughed at your words before bringing down the bat at his side, his free hand rubbing at the back of his neck.
“Are you going to Lannister’s party on Saturday?”
“Yeah,” You agreed, a smile gracing your lips. Maybe you did need to get laid. “You?”
“Yeah. What are you going as?”
“We’re doing a group costume,” Aemond cut in, making you look up at him uncertainly. You tilted your head curiously, knowing damn well Aemond hated the idea of matching costumes.
“We are,” You confirmed, shifting your attention back towards Cregan.
“Cool. I’ll see each other there.”
“I’ll see you there!” You shot him one more grin before the baseball players ran back to the field to practice. You turned back in your seat, avoiding the temptation of analysing Aemond’s features in curiosity.
“So, group costumes?”
would you like to continue?
Vaelys stood hidden behind the heavy tapestry, her heart pounding in her chest as she strained to hear the conversation between Jace and their mother. They were discussing her marriage to Aemond, and the tension in the air was palpable.
"Mother, think about it," Jace interjected, his tone now more persuasive. "Keeping Vaelys separated from Aemond for these two years of exile might actually be for the best. It could help weaken her feelings for him. She'll have time to see things clearly without his influence clouding her judgment."
Vaelys felt a sharp pang of hurt at his words, her grip tightening on the fabric of the tapestry.
Rhaenyra paused for a moment, considering her son's suggestion. "I understand your point, Jace," she finally responded, her voice measured. "But love doesn't simply fade with distance. If anything, it might strengthen their resolve to be together."
"But what if it doesn't?" Jace pressed, his concern evident. "What if Vaelys realizes that she's better off without him?”
"I understand your concerns, Jace," Cregan began, his voice deep and resonant. "But love, true love, is not so easily diminished by distance or time apart."
Jace furrowed his brow, clearly unconvinced. "But surely, if Vaelys is away from Aemond for so long, she might come to see things differently. It's a chance to free her from this-burden."
Cregan shook his head slowly. "During the conversation I had with Vaelys, she was adamant in her love for Aemond. Fiercely so. She defended him with a passion I have rarely seen. I do not believe she will willingly set him aside, no matter the circumstances."
Jace sighed, frustration evident in his posture. "But what if she's simply blinded by her feelings? What if she doesn't see the truth of who Aemond truly is?"
"I think," Luke began, his voice hesitant but resolute, "That Vaelys is old enough to make her own decisions. We shouldn't interfere."
"But she's our sister," Jace protested, his brow furrowing with concern. "We have a responsibility to look out for her best interests."
"Of course we do," Luke agreed, nodding slowly. "But that doesn't mean we get to choose who she loves or who she marries. That's her decision to make, not ours. Besides, if we try to force her hand, it might only push her further away. We should support her, not control her."
“Why am I the only one who see’s that vile one eyed cunt for who he really is? He kidnapped Vaelys, he took her against her will and then she was married too him in some twisted ploy by the Greens to force our surrender-Do you not remember the bloodied sheets that were sent to Dragonstone? The letter that was sent, an eye for an eye, blood for blood, the debt being repaid-” snarled Jace.
“Those were Aegon’s words, not Aemond’s-” said Luke sternly.
“What about the letter informing us that Vaelys was with child-were those Aegon’s words too because it was entirely too personal for it to be anyone other than Aemond who wrote it. He repeatedly forced himself upon our sister, got her with child and she’s under the delusion that it’s love, Aemond should have been tortured for what he’s done, not exiled-“
Unable to contain her emotions any longer, Vaelys burst forth from her hiding place with a furious roar of rage, her eyes blazing with intensity.
Jace and the other council members turned in surprise at her sudden interruption, their eyes widening as they took in her enraged expression.
Without another word, she lunged forward, her fury driving her actions as she unleashed a flurry of punches, striking every bit of Jace she could reach. Her blows were fuelled by frustration and resentment, each strike landing with a satisfying thud.
Jace stumbled backward, taken aback by the sudden assault, his attempts to defend himself futile against Vaelys' relentless onslaught.
Cregan moved swiftly to intervene, pulling Vaelys off her brother with a firm grip, his strength barely enough to restrain her as she struggled against him.
"Vaelys, stop!" Cregan urged, his voice firm but gentle. "This isn't the way."
But Vaelys was beyond reason, her anger consuming her as she fought against Cregan's hold, her chest heaving with exertion.
It took all of Cregan's strength to finally subdue her, holding her firmly in place as she continued to thrash and protest.
Vaelys' rage burned like wildfire as she struggled against Cregan's hold, her eyes locked fiercely on Jace. With each word he spoke, her anger intensified, until it threatened to consume her entirely.
"You ever say that about Aemond again, and I will kill you-I will kill you” Vaelys hissed, her voice low and menacing.  “I swear on all of the gods that I will slit your throat”.
Her words hung heavy in the air; the weight of her threat palpable as she held Jace's gaze with unflinching determination.
Jace's eyes widened in shock at the intensity of her words, his breath catching in his throat as he realized the depth of her anger.
With one final glare, Vaelys wrenched herself free from Cregan's grasp, her steps echoing with purpose as she stormed out of the room, leaving behind a stunned silence in her wake.
"Jace," said Rhaenyra, her tone firm yet tinged with disappointment, "You were out of line. Your words were unfair and unjust."
Jace lowered his gaze, unable to meet his mother's eyes as he felt the weight of her reprimand.
"But, Mother," he began to protest, but Rhaenyra held up a hand, silencing him.
"No excuses," she continued, her voice unwavering. "Vaelys has explained Aemond's motives, and we should trust her word. She loves him, and she knows him better than any of us."
"Mother-"
"Vaelys deserves our support, not our condemnation. She's made her choice, and we must respect it."
Jace nodded, chastened by his mother's words, a sense of remorse washing over him.
"And another thing," Rhaenyra added, her voice taking on a steely edge. "I forbid you from ever saying that Aemond defiled Vaelys again. Such accusations are unfounded and disrespectful."
Jace swallowed hard, understanding the gravity of his mother's command. He knew he had overstepped his bounds, and he vowed to heed her warning.
"I understand, Mother," he replied, his voice subdued.
"Jace," said Rhaenyra, her voice commanding his full attention, "You owe Vaelys an apology."
Jace's gaze shifted uncomfortably, "But Mother-she just threatened to kill me”.
"I don't care if she threatened to kill you. You will apologize to Vaelys this instant."
Jace shifted uncomfortably under his mother's intense gaze, a knot of apprehension tightening in his chest. "But Mother," he protested weakly, "she's not in the right frame of mind. Perhaps it's best to wait until she calms down."
Rhaenyra's patience wore thin, her frustration evident in the hard set of her jaw. "I will not tolerate this insubordination, Jace. You will apologize to your sister, and you will do it now."
Jace swallowed hard, realizing he had no choice but to comply with his mother's order. With a resigned nod, he rose from his seat, his steps heavy as he made his way out of the room.
Tumblr media
As Jace approached Vaelys’ chambers, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door, when their was no answer he knocked again-as he raised his hand and knocked a third time the door opened slightly, he stook a hesitant step inside, looking around the dimly lit chambers that his sister must have shared with Aemond.
At first, he thought the chambers were empty, mayhaps his sister had gone elsewhere, but just as he turned to leave, he heard the faint sounds of muffled crying.
Quietly, he made his way across the room, his footsteps echoing softly in the silence. As he stepped onto the balcony, he saw her sitting on one of the wooden benches, her shoulders shaking with sobs.
Vaelys didn't hear him approach, too lost in her sadness to notice his presence. She sat with her face pressed into the fabric of one of Aemond's shirts.
Jace's heart clenched at the sight of his sister in such pain. Without a word, he crossed the balcony and sat down beside her, giving her the space to grieve in silence.
For a long while, they sat there together, the only sound the soft rustle of fabric and the quiet hitching of Vaelys' breath.
Eventually, Vaelys lifted her head, her eyes red-rimmed and swollen from crying. She looked at Jace, her gaze haunted with sorrow.
"Vaelys," he began, his voice hesitant, "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I spoke out of turn, and I regret my words."
"Jace," she began, her tone soft but firm, "I know you have your doubts about Aemond, but he's not the monster you think he is. He's-he's a good man, Jace. You have to trust me on this."
Jace listened, his expression guarded as he struggled to reconcile his own feelings with his sister's impassioned defence of her husband.
"But Vaelys," he started, his voice hesitant, "I didn’t even know you’d been taken until I got back from Winterfell-I had secured the support of Cregan and with it the entire North, I had done something to make mother-our Queen proud, and then I find out that Aemond had killed Archonei and you’d been kidnapped and forced into a marriage with him-I saw the sheets, your blood spilled in repayment of a debt. I kept imagining you being locked in a dark room with nothing and no one except him”.
“Jace-“ whispered Vaelys.
“Daemon tried to get you out-but Erryk failed and then we heard you were with child-I swear when that letter arrived, mother almost collapsed. T-The way it was worded, so personal and graphic, it was sick” replied Jace.
“Aegon told Aemond that he was to get me with child, otherwise he’d take me for himself and make him watch-I made a choice Jace-Believe me brother. I would rather chose to carry the child of my husband than the man who forced himself upon me. Granted I did not love Aemond at first, my heart still aches for Archonei-but he was the lesser of two evils, and I know this might be difficult for you to hear, but the more we lay together, the more I fell for him. He was generous, giving and he ignited a fire within me that I had no idea existed”.
“I want to believe you Vaelys” urged Jace.
“He stayed by my side as I birthed Sovia-lesser men would have fled, but he stayed true. His tenderness as a father made me fall in love with him even more. Even when I got with child again-it was my choice. When I was poisoned, he remained by my side even though he was regent, he never wavered in his devotion, he killed the one responsible-wrapped his hands around his throat and choked the life out of him, he imprisoned his own mother and killed his own brother” said Vaelys.
“Vaelys-“ whispered Jace.
Vaelys shook her head, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I know his heart, his soul. He would never hurt me".
She paused, her voice catching in her throat as she fought to compose herself. "I love him, Jace. And I need you to trust me."
Jace looked at his sister, "I'll try, Vaelys. I'll try to trust in your words, in your love for Aemond."
Tumblr media
The sun cast a warm glow over the garden, bathing the lush greenery in a golden light as Vaelys sat on a blanket spread out on the grass. Her daughter, Sovia, giggled with delight as she played with a colourful toy, her bright eyes alight with curiosity.
Beside her, Helaena watched over her own children, Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor, who were running around the garden with boundless energy, their laughter filling the air.
Daeron, now Vaelys' personal guard, stood watch nearby, his gaze sweeping over the surroundings with a vigilant eye.
"Isn't it a beautiful day?" Helaena remarked, a smile gracing her lips as she watched her children play.
Vaelys nodded, her heart swelling with gratitude for the simple pleasures of life. "It truly is," she agreed, her gaze lingering on Sovia as she reached out to grasp a colourful flower.
As they enjoyed their picnic together, Helaena's gaze flickered briefly to Vaelys, a knowing smile tugging at the corners of her lips. She reached out and gently took Vaelys' hand in hers, her touch warm and reassuring.
"When are you going to tell your mother that you're with child again?" Helaena asked softly, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Vaelys froze, her heart skipping a beat as she stared at Helaena in stunned disbelief. "How did you know?" she stammered, her voice tinged with surprise.
Helaena chuckled, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "Oh, Vaelys," she replied, her smile widening, "You have a glow about you"
Vaelys blushed, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and wonder at Helaena's perceptiveness. She had thought she had been keeping her condition a secret, but clearly, she hadn't been as successful as she'd hoped.
"I-I hadn't planned on telling her just yet," Vaelys admitted, her cheeks flushing with colour.
Helaena squeezed her hand gently, her expression filled with understanding. "You'll have to tell her eventually," she said, her voice soft and reassuring.
"I know I just-" muttered Vaelys.
Helaena noticed the furrow of Vaelys' brow and the distant look in her eyes, and she leaned in closer, concern etched on her features. "What's troubling you, Vaelys?" she asked softly, her voice filled with compassion.
Vaelys took a deep breath, her fingers absently tracing circles on the blanket beneath her. "It's Aemond," she confessed quietly. "He's in exile, and he won’t know about the babe. He won't be there for the birth. Helaena, It was hard enough for him to leave Sovia behind, but to come back and discover another babe he didn't know about-it will break his heart."
Helaena's expression softened with sympathy as she reached out to squeeze Vaelys' hand. "I understand your worries, Vaelys," she murmured, her voice gentle. "But you mustn't lose hope. Aemond loves you, and he loves his family. When the time comes, I'm sure he'll be overjoyed to meet his new child, regardless of the circumstances."
Vaelys nodded, a tear escaping down her cheek. "I know," she whispered, her voice tinged with both sadness and longing. "But it's hard not knowing where he is”.
Helaena's gaze became distant, as if lost in thought, and a faint smile played at the corners of her lips.
"Aemond is well. I can feel it."
Vaelys looked at her good sister, a flicker of hope stirring in her heart at Helaena's words. "How do you know?" she asked, her voice trembling with anticipation.
Helaena's smile faltered, her expression clouding with uncertainty. "I-saw him flying over the ruins," she admitted, her voice trailing off.
"Ruins? You mean Old Valyria" she pressed, her curiosity piqued by Helaena's cryptic words.
Helaena shook her head, her features drawn with frustration. "I think so," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of desperation. "My dreams aren’t always clear, but I’ve had fleeting glimpses of Aemond since he left-the lost dragon across the sea”.
“You said that to me on the day I wed Aemond-“ replied Vaelys.
“I did-the ancestral seat is where dragons meet, the candles lit the way, a new home for the babe to stay" she whispered, her voice tinged with an air of mystery.
Vaelys' eyes widened in realisation at Helaena's cryptic utterance.
"Dragonstone” muttered Vaelys as she placed a hand on her stomach.
"Mother," she began, her voice steady but tinged with emotion, "I need to ask for your permission to go to Dragonstone."
Rhaenyra regarded her daughter with a mixture of concern and curiosity. "Dragonstone?" she echoed, her brow furrowing in confusion. "Whatever for, Vaelys?"
Vaelys hesitated, searching for the right words to explain her request. "I-I need some time away, Mother," she admitted quietly. "The memories here are too painful, and I-I want to go home”
Rhaenyra's expression softened with understanding as she listened to her daughter's plea. She knew all too well the burden of grief and the need to seek solace in unfamiliar places.
"I understand, Vaelys," she said gently, reaching out to take her daughter's hand in hers. "You have my permission to go to Dragonstone."
Relief flooded through Vaelys at her mother's words, gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Mother," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion.
But Vaelys wasn't finished yet. There was one more thing she needed to ask.
"I would like Helaena to accompany me, along with her children, Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor," she continued, her gaze steady. "And Daeron, as well as my maid, Ceci"
Rhaenyra nodded in understanding, her eyes reflecting the warmth of a mother's love. "Of course, Vaelys," she replied, her voice filled with reassurance. "Take whoever you need with you. I want you to find the peace and comfort you seek."
As Vaelys thanked her mother once more, a sense of relief washed over her. With Rhaenyra's blessing and the support of her loved ones, she felt ready to embark on her journey to Dragonstone, but first there was somebody that she needed to say goodbye too.
"Cregan," she began softly, her voice tinged with sadness, "I’ve come to say goodbye-I’m going to Dragonstone for a while”.
“As I’m returning to Winterfell-my duty calls” replied Cregan.
They stood together in silence for a moment, the weight of their unspoken words hanging heavy in the air. Vaelys couldn't help but feel a pang of regret for what might have been between them, had their circumstances been different.
"I’ve often wondered these last few weeks," Cregan murmured, breaking the silence, "What might have come of our almost-betrothal, had fate not intervened."
Vaelys couldn't help but smile sadly at his words, touched by the sincerity in his voice.
Cregan reached out and took her hand in his, his grip warm and comforting. "I just want you to know that I would have cared for you and been a husband worhty of you"
Vaelys squeezed his hand gently, gratitude shining in her eyes. "I know you would have, Cregan," she replied, her voice filled with warmth.
As they stood together in the fading light, their hands clasped in silent understanding.
"Probably for the best-Dragons are not meant for the snow” he mused softly, his gaze drifting to the darkening sky.
“I wish you every happiness Cregan-and take care on your journey North” said Vaelys.
Cregan nodded, his own gaze thoughtful as he prepared to depart. "Wherever your path may lead, know that you will always have a friend in me Princess."
“As you will always have a friend in me” said Vaelys.
With a final embrace and a whispered farewell, they parted ways, each carrying with them a bond of friendship that would endure, no matter the distance between them.
Vaelys stood on the deck of the ship, the salty sea breeze tousling her hair as she gazed up at the sky.
Above, the dragons soared, their massive wings beating against the air as they carved graceful arcs through the sky. Dreamfyre, Morghul, Shrykos, and Tessarion their forms dancing amidst the clouds, their scales gleaming in the sunlight.
Vaelys couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow as she thought of Archonei, her beloved dragon companion who had been her faithful companion since birth. Her absence left a hole in her heart that seemed impossible to fill, a void that echoed with the memories of their time together.
Vaelys closed her eyes for a moment, allowing herself to remember the feel of Archonei's scales beneath her fingertips, the rush of wind as they soared through the skies together. She had been more than just a dragon to her; she had been her confidant, her protector, her friend.
Helaena approached Vaelys on the deck, her presence a comforting reassurance amidst the vastness of the sea. As she drew near, she offered a gentle smile, her eyes filled with understanding.
"The bronze heart waits to be free” said Helaena, her voice soft and reassuring,
Vaelys smiled at Helaena and took her good sisters hand, squeezed it gently.
“I think I’ll like it on Dragonstone-plenty of shells” exclaimed Helaena happily as the ship approached the rocky shores of Dragonstone.
“Not to many spiders though” replied Vaelys thanking the gods for that fact.
“Ooh I brought them with me” said Helaena brightly.
“W-What?” asked Vaelys horrified, her hand going to her stomach.
“My spiders-I couldn’t leave them behind. Now that we can be free, they shall be too”.
Vaelys gave an involuntary shudder and the thought of Helaena unleashing an army of spiders on the shores of Dragonstone.
“J-Just don’t do it near me” muttered Vaelys.
Dragonstone loomed ahead, its imposing silhouette rising from the waves like a sentinel guarding the secrets of the past. Despite the passage of time, the island fortress still held an air of ancient majesty.
Vaelys felt a swell of emotion as memories flooded her mind. It had been two long years since she had last set foot on Dragonstone, yet as she gazed upon its familiar shores, it felt as though she had never left.
After being placed in her arms by Ceci, Sovia began squirming, her curious gaze taking in the sight of their destination. Vaelys smiled down at her daughter, a surge of maternal love filling her heart. She was grateful for the opportunity to share this moment with her, to introduce her to the place that held so much significance in their family's history.
As the ship drew closer to the harbour, Vaelys felt a sense of homecoming wash over her. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, she knew that she was where she belonged.
Stepping onto the solid ground of Dragonstone once more, Vaelys felt a sense of familiarity and comfort settle over her. The island may have remained unchanged, but she knew that she had been forever transformed by her experiences since she had last been there.
With Sovia nestled safely in her arms, Vaelys took a deep breath, ready to face whatever the future held. For as long as she was on Dragonstone, she knew that she was surrounded by the strength of her family's legacy and the enduring spirit of her ancestors. And with their guidance, she was prepared to embark on the next chapter of her journey, no matter where it might lead.
Vaelys sat on the soft sand of Dragonstone's beach, the gentle waves lapping at the shore as Sovia played happily nearby, her laughter filling the air. The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the tranquil scene.
As she watched her daughter, Vaelys couldn't help but feel a pang of longing for Aemond, her beloved husband who was still far away in exile. She wondered if he was out there somewhere, beneath the same sky, gazing across the sea with thoughts of her and Sovia.
Running a hand over her growing baby bump, Vaelys sighed, feeling a mix of emotions stirring within her. Despite the distance between them, she took comfort in the knowledge that a piece of Aemond was with her, growing and thriving within her womb.
As she closed her eyes Vaelys couldn't help but smile as she thought back to the day, she had shared the news of her pregnancy with her family, when they had come to Dragonstone for a visit. The memory was etched in her mind, each reaction a reflection of the unique personalities that made up her kin.
When she had told her mother, there had been a moment of surprise, followed by a bright smile that lit up her face. "Another grandchild," she had exclaimed, her eyes shining with happiness as she enveloped Vaelys in a warm embrace.
Her father's reaction had been more reserved, muttered remarks about "more Hightower spawn" and something about Aemond “making sure he planted his seed” escaping his lips before he had offered her a nod of approval. Though his words lacked the warmth of her mother's, Vaelys knew that beneath his stoic exterior, he harboured some sense of pride in the growing legacy of their family.
Luke had beamed with excitement at the news, his joy infectious as he eagerly offered his congratulations. "I'm going to be an uncle again!" he had exclaimed, his enthusiasm lighting up the room.
Jace, had been the most conflicted of them all. For a moment, his expression had been clouded with uncertainty, his thoughts seemingly torn between conflicting emotions. But in the end, he had offered her a hesitant smile, his congratulations sincere if somewhat reserved.
As Vaelys recalled each reaction, she couldn't help but feel a swell of gratitude for her family's support.
"Daddy," said Sovia softly, her voice barely above a whisper as she spoke the word with a sense of longing.
Vaelys looked up from her thoughts, her heart skipping a beat at the sound of her daughter's voice. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she watched Sovia playing, her innocent words stirring a mix of emotions within her.
"Daddy," repeated Sovia, her voice growing stronger as she looked up at Vaelys with a bright smile.
As Vaelys spoke to Sovia, explaining about her father being far away, Sovia made a soft, thoughtful sound, a gentle "hmm" that sounded remarkably like Aemond. It was a sound Vaelys had heard countless times before, a sound that never failed to bring warmth to her heart.
Surprised, Vaelys looked down at Sovia, her eyes widening in amazement. The resemblance was uncanny. Not only did Sovia make the same sound as Aemond, but she even pouted in a way that mirrored his expressions.
A soft smile tugged at the corners of Vaelys' lips as she watched her daughter. Despite the distance that separated them, Aemond's presence lived on in Sovia, in every little sound and gesture she made.
With a pang of longing and affection, Vaelys reached out to gently stroke Sovia's cheek, her touch tender and filled with love. "You're just like your daddy, aren't you?" she murmured, her voice filled with a mixture of joy and sadness.
Sovia looked up at her with bright eyes, a mischievous glint dancing in their depths. And in that moment, Vaelys felt a surge of gratitude for the precious gift that was her daughter, a reminder of the love she shared with Aemond, even in his absence.
With Sovia in her arms, Vaelys leaned in close, pressing a kiss to her daughter's forehead. "I love you, my little dragon," she whispered, her voice soft and filled with tenderness. And as Sovia giggled in response.
In the depths of sleep, Vaelys found herself enveloped in a dreamlike haze, her consciousness drifting in the realm of dreams. Amidst the ethereal mist, she heard a voice, deep and resonant, calling out to her.
"Vaelys," the voice rumbled, echoing all around her, "Come and find me. I have been waiting for you."
Startled, Vaelys blinked in the darkness of her dream, trying to discern the source of the voice. It seemed to emanate from all directions, surrounding her with its haunting melody.
There was something oddly familiar about the voice, a sense of recognition that stirred deep within her soul. It tugged at her heartstrings, urging her to follow its call, to seek out the one who beckoned to her.
"Who are you?" Vaelys called out into the void, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
But there was no reply, only the echo of her own words fading into the ether. The voice remained elusive, its presence lingering tantalizingly just beyond her grasp.
Amidst the swirling mists and the echoing voice that called out to her, a figure materialized before her. It was Helaena, her presence ethereal and luminous, her eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.
"A lost dragon across the sea," Helaena's voice echoed, her words carrying a weight of prophecy, "a bronze heart waiting to be free."
Vaelys watched in awe as Helaena spoke. There was a knowingness in Helaena's gaze, a wisdom that transcended the boundaries of the waking world.
"The bronze heart burns brighter," Helaena continued, her voice growing stronger with each word, "he waits for his rider."
Vaelys felt a surge of emotion welling up within her, a mixture of hope and longing that threatened to overwhelm her. The words seemed to reverberate within her very being, filling her with a sense of purpose and determination.
As Helaena's form began to fade, dissipating into the dreamlike haze, Vaelys reached out, her hand stretching towards the vanishing figure. "Wait," she called out, her voice tinged with desperation.
But Helaena only smiled, a knowing glint in her eyes, before she vanished completely, leaving Vaelys alone once more in the depths of her dream.
Vaelys awoke from her dream, her heart pounding with the echoes of the voice that had called out to her. Despite the veil of sleep lifting, the memory of the haunting words lingered, refusing to fade into the recesses of her mind.
As she lay in the darkness, her breath coming in shallow gasps, Vaelys strained to listen, hoping to hear the voice once more. And then, just as she began to doubt herself, she heard it—a faint whisper in the depths of her consciousness, pleading for her to come find him.
Her pulse quickened with a mixture of fear and excitement as she listened to the voice, its words resonating with a sense of urgency that sent shivers down her spine. There was a desperation in its tone, a longing that tugged at her heartstrings, urging her to heed its call.
Gathering her resolve, Vaelys swung her legs over the edge of the bed and rose to her feet, the coolness of the stone floor grounding her in reality. With each step she took, the voice grew louder, its presence a constant presence in her mind.
As she made her way through the darkened corridors of Dragonstone, guided by the ethereal sound of the voice, Vaelys felt a sense of purpose settle over her. She knew that she could not ignore the call, no matter how uncertain the path ahead may be.
As Vaelys stood before the Dragonmont, the ancient volcano at the heart of Dragonstone. The voice grew louder and more insistent, echoing through the night with a sense of urgency.
With a curious mix of apprehension and excitement, Vaelys walked through the entrance.
Soon she found herself standing in the heart of a vast and cavernous cave, shrouded in darkness so thick it seemed to suffocate the very air around her.
Suddenly the sound of earth-shaking footsteps reverberated through the cavern, each one sending tremors rippling through the ground beneath her feet.
Fear clenched at Vaelys' heart as she stood frozen in place, her senses overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the darkness that surrounded her. She could feel the weight of it pressing down upon her, threatening to consume her whole.
And then, just when it seemed as though the darkness would swallow her whole, the cavern was suddenly bathed in an intense, blaze of dragon fire, illuminating the cavern with its fierce and fiery glow.
Vaelys shielded her eyes against the brightness, squinting through the flames to see the source of the light. And there, towering above her, was Vermithor.
His scales glinting like burnished bronze in the fading light of the setting sun.
The dragon snarled and snapped at her, but Vaelys stood firm her hand outstretched.
“Lykirī” (Calm).
Now was not the time to show fear.
“Dohaerās Vermithor” (Serve).
Vermithor lumbered forward his maw opening-the flames forming in his throat.
Suddenly her father’s voice sounded in her mind ‘the song’.
“Drakari pykiros, Tīkummo jemiros, Yn lantyz bartossa, Saelot vāedis” (Fire breather, winged leader, but two heads, to a third sing).
“Perzyro udrȳssi, Ezīmptos laehossi, Hārossa letagon, Aōt vāedan” (With words of flame, with clear eyes, to bind the three, to you I sing).
“Hae mērot gierūli:, Se hāros bartossi, Prūmȳsa sōvīli, Gevī dāerī” (As one we gather, and with three heads, we shall fly as we were destined, beautifully, freely).
The bronze fury hesitated-the glow of fire receding.
“Dohaerās Vermithor” (Serve).
After a beat of silence, the dragon bowed his head, and Vaelys knew that she had reclaimed her destiny—that she was meant to ride upon the back of this ancient dragon, to soar through the skies, the voice had called to her, and she had answered. He has tested her, and she had succeeded.
With a sense of awe and reverence, Vaelys approached Vermithor, her heart pounding in her chest as she once again extended her hand, only this time in greeting. And to her amazement, the dragon allowed her to run her hand over the warm scales of his maw, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of curiosity and acceptance.
Then, with a rumble that shook the very earth beneath her feet, Vermithor extended his massive wing, inviting her to climb upon his back.
Vaelys took a deep breath and stepped forward, her blood thrumming with anticipation and excitement as she climbed atop of Vermithor.
The saddle that graced his back, was old and weathered but it would do for now. The dragon of old King Jaehaerys now belonged to her.
Once she was seated and fastened in as best should be, considering the was heavy with child. Vaelys took a hold of the ropes and closed her eyes, focusing on the newly formed bond.
“Sōvēs” shouted Vaelys (Fly).
Vermithor lumbered towards the exit, his heavy footsteps shaking the cavernous lair.
Vaelys squinted as she emerged from the Dragonmont atop Vermithor, who hesitated as he sniffed the air.
Then, with a single graceful movement, Vermithor spread his wings and lifted into the air, his powerful muscles rippling beneath his shimmering scales as dragon and rider soared high above the island.
Helaena smiled as she watched Vaelys and Vermithor gliding through the sky, her good sister was a dragon rider once more, just as she was always meant to be.
“The bronze heart is free, the lost dragon will cross the sea, three babes there will be”
