Looking for a proofreader for this next long one!
Not active yet, but here's what it looks like so far. The synopses and stuff need work, and I plan on reading two writing books before really gritting down and hyperfocusing, so I'll probably be doing this late spring and early summer!
EDIT: AJ might proof for me hallelujah and oh lord I cannot fuck this up ////

Sam strikes back, charging that Chuck’s full of shit, and that his focus on familial sacrifice is the source of his God-powers. Chuck's answer? A forty-day flood.

what makes you think the writers want deancas? not trying to be an asshole, i'm just genuinely curious as to why you think that. i know berens' episodes are pretty heavy with subtext so i can see why you'd say that he wants it, but i'm not so sure about the rest of the writers/dabb. it seems like meghan isn't a huge fan either, given her "they twisted it so fast" tweet :/ of course she's a very new writer (think she's only writing one ep this season?) but still
OKAY this is a great question, welcome to my dissertation.
I’m going to address the end of your question first. Meghan is actually DeanCas positive, she has been for quite a long time. She actually, a few years back, posted a picture of her reading a literal book about Destiel and captioned it “writing reading” or something like that.
This whole thing just comes out of a boiling over of tensions because of how nasty fandom twitter can be. Like I said here, I think this has just gotten blown out of proportion, they shouldn’t have posted all this randomly disparaging stuff, but also like...can you blame them? The fandom is a lot, we always have been, and they’re probably also under a gag order not to talk about the finale, and are annoyed that people keep asking.
So nah, Meg is not anti Destiel.
To the first part!! So let’s take a look at the show runners since Cas has been around.
Seasons 4 and 5: Kripke
Seasons 6 and 7: Gamble
Seasons 8-11ish: Carver
Seasons 11ish-15: Dabb
So starting with Kripke. Okay, yes, I will be the first to admit that we have some pretty incredible Destiel moments in these seasons, but it’s less directly written into the plot and much more from Misha and Jensen’s uhhhh ~chemistry~. The only times it was directly written into the script was when the episode was handled by someone like Edlund (“On The Head Of A Pin,” “The End,” “My Bloody Valentine”). And you have to remember, if in season 5, there are moments here and there where you’re like huh that’s suspiciously romantic dialogue, remember that Cas took Anna’s place. Anna was supposed to be endgame for Dean, but due to a myriad of issues and Misha’s general greatness, Anna was replaced with Cas.
Onto 6 and 7. Hmmm. Gamble. 6 and 7 are my two least favorite seasons and that’s no secret, and that’s not only due to the plain old weird shit in the overall storyline, but also that homegirl killed off Cas in s7 and then Bobby like four episodes later. (Also it ALWAYS rubbed me the wrong way they couldn’t have Baby in that season lol). We still had some great DeanCas moments, but again, it wasn’t really written into the overall arc (until they had to change the end of season 7 because of tanking ratings and bring Misha back lol, anyone remember the fact that Dean kept Cas’ jacket and would randomly dream of him? Yeah.). But we still had those moments, those distinctly romantic moments, probably the best example in these two seasons is from Edlund again, specifically “The Man Who Would be King,” I wrote a little about that here.
We move onto Carver, who gave us, at this point, the most overt DeanCas season with season 8 (season gr8 is a better name imo), and this is the first time Dean and Cas’ relationship is directly written as an arc of the season.  I mean, you have everything in Purgatory, Dean “seeing” Cas everywhere, the fact that he felt so guilty that Cas stayed in Purgatory that he manipulated his own memories to think that he was the one that failed Cas, because he couldn’t comprehend that Cas would want to leave him, and let’s not forget Dean snapping Cas out of Naomi’s hold on him in “Goodbye Stranger.”  It was a very obvious shift, not enough to alert the general audience, but more than enough for most of us in fandom.
It’s also important to note that this is when Andrew stopped co writing with Loflin and started writing his own episodes (”Hunter Heroici” anyone?)  I like Loflin fine, but Dabb was able to stretch his legs a little bit more once he stopped co-writing, and we also began to see some DeanCas themes in his solo episodes.
In any case, them and their issues being a big part of the seasons continued with Carver, and Berens entered the scene, his first episode (”Heaven Can’t Wait”) is one of my favorites, with human Cas and the fanfiction gap and Dean and Cas just generally being awkward and funny and sweet.  This is Bobo’s FIRST episode, remember that.  He comes right out of the gate with it.
Also in Season 9, this is when Dean takes the Mark of Cain, and the Cas/Colette mirror is born, so obviously, Dean and Cas are the fabric of the season once again.  This is also the season where Metatron says Cas is “in love with humanity,” and then immediately refers to Dean as Humanity so uhhhh yeah.
Onto season 10, Dabb and Berens continue with their greatness (I could write pages on the DeanCas date in “The Things We Left Behind” alone).  And then we have one of the best scenes in the entire show in “The Prisoner” where the Cas/Colette mirror continues and Dean, driven by grief and pain and rage and the Mark, still doesn’t kill Cas.  He still can’t kill Cas.
Season 11 is important because it takes choice away from both Cas and Dean, and shows us, as the audience, how much losing each other takes out of them. We saw in season 10 how much losing Dean takes from Cas, but what about Cas losing Dean?  Dean loses his choice with his connection to Amara this season, and loses even more when Lucifer reveals he’s been possessing Cas, and plays on Dean’s connection to Cas like a mockery.  It’s also worth noting that, similarly to season 8, Dean breaks out of the connection with Amara when he’s worried about Cas, and that’s something that even SHE is surprised by.
But then season 12, the beginning to the Renaissance.  This is when we get the writer’s that become important for what Dean and Cas are today, and, truly, why I believe they want canon Destiel as much as we do.
This is the first season with Dabb’s writers: Davy Perez, Meredith Glynn, Steve Yockey, and of course Bobo all come in with their incredible talents and gave us episode after episode of good content.  “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets” is probably my favorite, probably the best example of what I’m saying.  An episode where Dean is called out by an enemy directly, told to “roll the dice” on Cas’ life.  And Dean won’t, it’s not even really a hesitation.  And this comes from a character that has known Dean for ten seconds.  I also wrote more in depth about this episode here.  There are also some.....distinctly domestic details we get this season, specifically in “The Future” (written by Berens and Glynn) with the mixtape.  The most tropey of tropes mixtape.  Yeah, I’ll just leave that one here.
And then season 12 ends with Cas’ death, but also with the parallel between Sam and Dean with Jess and Cas.  Sam literally has to drag Dean away from Cas, just like Dean had to drag Sam out of his burning apartment in the pilot.  The episode drives it home in every way that it can: Dean is the one left kneeling by Cas’ body, while Sam goes to find out what is upstairs.  Dean is the one who stares at the sky, finally broken.  This isn’t a random thing, this is Dean’s whole arc, it’s the entirety of the beginning of 13.  Dean’s pain, his anguish, his anger.
Season 13 starts with them burning Cas, with Dean, who has begged God to bring him back, who has split his knuckles punching a door, standing, staring at Cas’ pyre with brokenness on his face.
I mean.....
Anyway, season 13 is where it gets interesting (well, I think all of this is interesting but I’m a writer nerd so).  So Cas comes back from the Empty in “Advanced Thanatology” written by Steve Yockey, and then a wombo combo of “Tombstone” by Davy Perez next (”Brokebacknatural” as the PR said at the time).  Listen.  This is the part that SPN crossed a line that they couldn’t come back from.  With Cas being Dean’s “big win,” the fact that Dean and Cas watch movies together, “I told you, he’s an angry sleeper.  Like a bear.” Talked about it here.
This is where, in my opinion, the network stepped in, but the damage was already done.  They had already established that Cas was Dean’s big win, that Dean’s poor coping was not due to Mary’s disappearance, but solely due to Cas, and that Dean and Cas have more married energy than anyone else.  The network had nixed blatant canon at this point, and they writing room had been pushing the boundaries of what the network would allow.
After these episodes, we see a marked drop off of DeanCas heavy scenes.  They’re still there, still a part of the fabric of the season, but not as...obvious as it had been in early season 13.
And this continued through season 14, we’re back to scraps of Destiel scenes here and there, but to me it always felt like there was something bubbling under the surface, something distinctly unsaid in the themes of the season, even after the walk back of obvious “Dean and Cas are in love” scenes.
And then we get to season 15, which, y’all know I talk about all the time.  What’s important here is that Bobo and Glynn are both executive producers, calling more of the shots than ever before.  Additionally, it’s important to note that, though they only co write occasionally, Glynn and Berens refer to each other as “work husband” and “work wife.”  Each episode has just turned up the volume, and, not for the first time, but certainly the most obvious, Dean and Cas ARE the season.  Sure, they’re trying to beat God, they’re trying to finally find peace, defeat the final big bad, but really?  This season has been about Dean, and Dean’s relationship to Cas.
And not only do we have obvious and clear Destiel in nearly every episode, but we have episodes like “Last Call” which canonize bi!Dean (wrote about that here).
And, maybe most importantly so far, we have “The Rupture,” the breakup, and “The Trap,” Dean’s confession (both written by Berens).  And here’s the thing.  These episodes feel connected, but also feel like they’re missing something.  Beren’s last episode is 15x18, “The Truth.”  We’ve all spec’ed about what could happen in this episode, and I think *I* know what it’s leading to.  But for it to be leading to that, it means that the network has to have approved what we’ve all been waiting for years for.
Who got this change to happen?  Who got the network to change their minds?  It wasn’t us.  It was them.  I am fully convinced that Dabb and Berens quite literally put their careers on the line for Dean and Cas.  They believe in them, they’ve shown that from the beginning, but the only thing standing in the way was the network, never allowing them to take the final step.
So, to answer your question: I think the writers want canon DeanCas because they’ve already shown us that they do.  Take a look at their episodes, at Dabb’s, at Beren’s, at Glynn’s, at Perez’s, at Yockey’s.  They’ve been telling us what’s going on with Dean and Cas for years.
Sure, I’m not in their heads, I guess I don’t know for *sure* that this has been their thought process, but if we put it all together, from the marked shift when Dabb fully took over in s12, to the change right after “Tombstone,” to the new shift, the blatantly romantic shift in season 15, what else is there?
I’ve said for a long time that we, the SPN fandom, are beyond lucky to have the writer’s that we do.  They’re all going to go on to have prolific careers and we were lucky to get them at the end of our little show.  I give them a lot of credit for what we have in the show today.
Just remember, they’ve been telling us in all of s15 who Chuck is.  He says he’s the writer, right?  But a writer who doesn’t have control of his characters?  A writer who wants to do the same ending over and over because it “works”?  That doesn’t sound like a writer, it sounds like a network exec.
They’ve been showing us what they want for years, and the way s15 is going?  I think they may have convinced the network to let us have it.

Signs and Wonders - of Angels and Mothers in 15x19 Inherit the Earth
Hi everyone,
I am late to the party as usual, and I haven’t jumped into the Tumblr hive mind yet.
First of all, I know this episode will have felt very painful to many of you, because of Cas’ absence and Dean’s contained grief.
Look, those fuckers in the writers’ room are toying with us. Dean running up to the door to greet Cas, only to find The Devil instead? A deliberate twist in the narrative negative space, which screams in the story (lovers parted, and surely reunited).
This episode does a lot of heavy lifting, in that it both serves as a “Brothers Only” ending for certain audience segments (who can, perhaps, depending on what happens, forever pretend 15x20 didn’t take place) and also, I surmise, for certain audience markets, whilst, at the same time, undercutting that ending (15x19) as sad, lonely and cheesy [that montage at the end, lol].
The visual narrative, which has always been one of SPN’s best features, had plenty to say of interest, so I thought I’d start there, with an angels and mothers theme.
Chuck’s empty world contains this shot of New York, which depicts a rainbow on the right, and on the left, a billboard which reads, “Switch, and get 100% total satisfaction”, whilst the billboard in the middle, for Coke, reads “Staying apart is the best way to stay united.”
Cryptic, huh? But accidents don’t just happen accidentally.
An LGBT rainbow, first off.  “Switching” could refer to bisexuality, but it also refers, perhaps, to a double ending structure, i.e. 15x19 and 15x20 as endings you can “switch”, in which case, “Staying apart is the best way to stay united”, could be understood as commentary on the two ancient SPN fandom strands (Bronlies and Destiellers) which a double ending structure seeks to accommodate.
Tumblr media
In that case Chuck (meaning the writers’ room) really is (as they told us themselves, via a reconstitued Lilith, in 15x05 Proverbs 17:3) a “low rent Dean Koontz”. I wrote about the possibility of a double-ending structure here, in relation to that Dean Koontz comment:
https://drsilverfish.tumblr.com/post/189090087949/hes-more-of-a-low-rent-dean-koontz-15x05
Next visual narrative marker (in my mothers and angels theme) was this shot of Dean next to the Margiekugel beer, which, as all the crazy and marvellous SPN beer meta writers taught us, is the beer associated with mothers in SPN. Dean as a nurturing figure here, yes, but I remain convinced we will see Mary Winchester again in 15x20. That would fit beautifully with Dabb’s Ouroboros narrative, because Amara resurrected Mary, and now, Amara is part of Jack-the Divine-Unity, and he [as her, apparent, killer] would surely wish to bring happiness to his adopted Winchester family by restoring her again:
Tumblr media
Oh look, a Mary figure in the Michael church:
Tumblr media
And an angel besides:
Tumblr media
Which recalls Mary’s line, long ago, in 5x13 The Song Remains the Same, spoken to baby Dean in-the-womb,  “Angels are watching over you.” Which now, resonates emotively back into the story, in a new way, through Castiel’s final, loving, sacrifice for Dean in 15x18 Despair.
This shot was also interesting - Route 66:
Tumblr media
On one level, this is a visual joke about one of Bucklemming’s (also the writers of 15x19′s) most joked about SPN episodes, 1x13 Route 666, otherwise known as the “racist truck” episode. I actually think that characterisation of the ep is a little unfair - it at least tried to tackle the horror of historic racism, albeit with a rather ridiculous horror show twist.
BUT, on another level, that episode contains Dean’s lover, Cassie. And Cassie  has been read by many, as equated (by naming elision) with Castiel, in the show’s narrative subtext. So, we can (if we choose) read this sign as another poignant, subtextual, reminder of absent Castiel, in 15x19.
Then we have this shot, of Dean by the “Men” and “Ladies” doors at this gas station, choosing “Men”:
Tumblr media
Yes, of course he’s chosing “Men”, Silverfish - he’s going to the loo (I’m British).
Neverthless, this kind of visual, symbolic, bisexual coding of Dean, is also a deliberate Ouroboros in the narrative, because Dean has been coded as bisexual, in the show’s visual and symbolic subtext, since S1:
https://drsilverfish.tumblr.com/post/115161057824/bisexual-in-the-subtext-since-s1
And now? Now that the Winchesters are free of Chuck’s control, at last? Chuck, for whom Castiel’s rebellion, and Castiel’s love, for Dean, was never part of the story?
Ah, well, that’s still to play for.
Dean’s character is, in my view, at this point, still structured by the narrative glass closet (meaning, his queerness is visible to some, invisible to others, by design); a doubling structure.
Dabb’s finale has now itself been set up as part of a doubling structure - 15x19 Inherit the Earth as one “ending”, and 15x20 Carry On, as another.

hey this is gonna sound weird but I got back into spn VERY RECENTLY and I want to draw something for Nov 5th (used to do spn fanart way back in the day) but I haven't seen a bunch of the eps from the last few seasons (post S11). I don't have time to rewatch them all before the 5th, do you have a list of eps I should prioritize? Also I'm open to concepts/ideas for the art, I'm good at realism mostly. thank u sooooo much for ur help but also I blame u and the hellers in general for pulling me back in so the art is gonna be dedicated to u guys
hey, that's awesome!! i'm very glad you're back!! here's some episodes you might want to cram in before nov. 5th, from s12 onward! bolded are, in my opinion, essential in terms of understanding either the plot or the fandom (’C’ for ‘cule as in desticule) but of course i’ll advise that you read the plot summaries for any eps you can’t watch, including those that aren’t listed!!
s12e1 — keep calm and carry on : first ep of the season, i assume this would be easiest to start with so you can recall s11, and also just so you can get the gist of where the season will be headed. [PLOT]
s12e8 — LOTUS : introduces you to kelly kline. it's not my favorite and it's a bucklemming ep but plot-wise it might be important to know who kelly is, though tbh you can just read the synopsis and you should be fine. [PLOT]
s12e10 — lily sunder has some regrets : just a genuinely great episode! lots of cas background info and dean/cas moments [C]
s12e12 — stuck in the middle with you : davy perez ep!! cas says i love you!! sorta plot-heavy i GUESS? but if you want destiel angst then this is for you. it's mostly about the angst. [C]
s12e19 — the future : really important in terms of jack [PLOT]
s12e23 — all along the watchtower : season finale in which Very Significant things happen. s13 picks up right from where this leaves off. beginning of the widower arc. [PLOT, C]
s13e1 — lost and found : again, first ep of s13, lots of destiel angst (beautiful beautiful angst. the jacting joices....superb) [PLOT, C]
s13e4 — the big empty : cas!!! answers the question of what happened to him. [PLOT]
gonna go ahead and mention here that in order to watch s13e6 you should probably watch, like. the last ten minutes of s13e5, because again, ep 6 picks up right where ep 5 leaves off.
s13e6 — tombstone : destiel must-watch and end of the widower arc. also significant in terms of jack's development [PLOT, C]
s13e10 — wayward sisters : read the synopsis of ep 9 beforehand though if you want to get a background on kaia. [PLOT, C]
s13e16 — scoobynatural : 'nuff said. [C]
s13e19 — funeralia : not necessary but there’s a good amt. of rowena and cas in this ep so <3 [C]
s13e23 — let the good times roll : season finale, lots of stuff happens plot-wise [PLOT]
s14e1— stranger in a strange land : “i thought you two were joined at the—you know. everything.” really a slow ep tbh, but read the synopsis [C]
s14e3 — the scar : dean is back! there is a scene bt dean/cas in which the score makes me lose my goddamn mind. [PLOT, C]
s14e4 — mint condition : not essential, but a favorite. you’ll especially want to watch it if you’re a dean girl (gn) [C]
s14e7 — unhuman nature : again not necessary, but good jack development/jack scenes with his family [C]
s14e8 — byzantium : VERY important plot wise, re: cas and jack. [PLOT, C]
s14e10 — nihilism : so good. so very very good. also, pamela barnes. [PLOT, C]
do not watch s14e13 lebanon. i repeat, disregard lebanon.
s14e14 — ouroboros : again, one of my faves. gay motw, and v cute scene between dean and cas (: also, rowena!!! [C]
s14e17 — game night : the plot in this ep bleeds through onto the divorce arc of season 15. the ending is...ambiguous, but you can either watch 14x18 or find out what happens in the summary of that ep [PLOT]
s14e20 — moriah : again, a season finale. eps 18-20 really hinge on the events of 14x17, so all you really need to know is that they’re all v upset about [redacted redacted], which happens in ep 17. [PLOT]
s15e3 — the rupture : what i consider to be part one of three re: the divorce arc. also we’ve got a good smattering of characters and it’s important for plot reasons [PLOT, C]
s15e6 — golden time : part 2 of 3 in divorce arc. definite angst, lots of cas, and lots of eileen ((: [PLOT, C]
s15e9 — the trap : now, ofc this is part 3 of 3 in the divorce arc, and while it may be a great dean/cas ep, i must say it’s also one of my favorite sam episodes. sorry, but you really can’t skip this one!! [PLOT, C]
s15e10 — the heroes' journey : one of my favorite episodes, but it's garth-centric and you can really read all you need to know via episode summary but still. the implications of this ep haunt me. why lamp. [C]
s15e17 — unity : lots of god-stuff happening, and it leads into 15x18 [PLOT, C]
s15e18 — despair : the last episode of spn!! [PLOT, C]
so, added up, that’s 4 essential eps in season 12, 4 essential eps in season 13, 4 essential eps in season 14, and 5 essential eps in season 15. grand total of 17 eps across all four seasons! (which is less than one full season of the show)
quick run down in case you need a TL;DR:
season 12: episodes 1, 10, 19 and 23
season 13: episodes 1, 6, 10, and 23
season 14: episodes 3, 8, 10, and 17
season 15: episodes 3, 6, 9, 17, and 18
now, if you need to narrow it down even further, i’d prioritize the eps that are labeled “[PLOT, C]” (12 eps) as those are important plot-wise and also for references w/i the fandom. good luck, i hope this helped!!

short destiel fic
so this is a short script for a fluff destiel scene with Miracle, taking place after the events of 15x18, prompt courtesy of @speedygal
The kitchen in the bunker, dim lights show the silhouettes of Cas and Dean making a salad together.
CAS: I still find its name rather confusing.
DEAN: "Its"? Cas, he's a part of the family and you keep refering to him as if he couldn't hear you.
CAS: He's a dog, Dean.
DEAN: So? Pass me the tomato.
Castiel promptly reaches for the vegetable in question. Handing it to Dean does give him an excuse to brush his hand against the suprisingly soft skin of his.
CAS: It is simply not within a man's reach to call a creature miraculous. That should be the job of the heavens.
DEAN: Cut the crap. You're just jealous.
CAS: Of him? That's an overstatement.
Dean grabs a bag of shredded cheddar and passes it to Castiel, who cuts it open with great care and precision.
DEAN: He did take your place as the pretty bimbo in the team.
CAS: I don't understand. Is "bimbo" a code word?
Dean smirks at the confused look on Castiel's face.
CAS: You're lack of explanation isn't very helpful.
DEAN: You mean the word "bimbo"? Or his name?
Castiel doesn't return the eye contact, completely focused on cutting the lettuce just right, following instructions that Mary Winchester gave him a couple years ago.
CAS: You know what I mean, Dean.
Dean Winchester lowers his head slightly.
DEAN: He isn't the first Miracle, you know.
CAS: Is this where you tell me that I was your first miracle?
Dean immedietly snaps out of a trip down the memory lane and smiles in suprise.
DEAN: Look at you, somebody is getting bold with it.
Castiel looks at Dean with clear uneasiness.
CAS: I have been practicing flirting techniques recently.
DEAN: Don't worry, handsome, it's working.
A golden retriever suddenly runs into the kitchen, barking.
DEAN: Hi buddy, what's up?
Dean caresses Miracle's head, smiling. The dog pays no attention to this attempt at distracting him from his mission, utterly consumed by his intention of jumping on Castiel and tackling him to the ground. A success on Miracle's side follows.
CAS: (startled) Hello.
DEAN: C'mon, man. I understand the need to tackle Cas, but you could have waited until he didn't have the salad bowl in his hands.
Miracle happily licks Castiel's face.
CAS: So, am I going to learn the origin of his name or not?
Dean reaches for a mop, left in the right corner of the kitchen by Sam.
DEAN: Which one?
CAS: You mean to tell me he has more than one name?
DEAN: Yeah, it's technically Miracle the Second.
Dean starts cleaning the mess on the floor while Cas sits down, cuddling with the golden retriever.
CAS: Now you got me truly curious.
DEAN: Oh, I always had you curious.
CAS: I don't understand.
DEAN: It's okay, that's why I’m into you, buddy.
CAS: Your attempt at avoiding the question isn't particulary suprising.
Dean looks down and sits on the floor next to Castiel and Miracle.
DEAN: When you... when you left me, I felt more alone than I've ever been. More alone than I felt in hell, more alone than in Purgatory.
Castiel leans in and softly touches Dean's knee.
DEAN: I thought that was it, man. Like nothing was ever going to make me smile again, because every time a smile would fill my eyes, I remembered what you said to me...
Miracle barks, to which Dean responds with a light beam.
DEAN: It was just me and Sam and that goddamn memory of you.
CAS: I'm sorry, Dean. You know I would have given anything to be there when you needed me.
DEAN: I know, Cas. I know.
Miracle starts licking Dean's face and Castiel looks slightly jealous.
DEAN: Then this guy happened. Well, not this one. The other one.
CAS: Now I'm lost.
DEAN: The first dog disappeared... just like you did. Chuck puffed him off the Earth into the Vogsphere.
What follows is heavy silence.
CAS: It was Jack who brought him back?
DEAN: Yes. He run off and I didn't go after him. I guess I had another dumbass to find at the time.
Castiel furrows his brow slightly and Dean chuckles.
CAS: Dean, my ass possess a regular amount of intelligence.
Miracle gets off the guys and leaves the kitchen, having heard a sound coming from Eileen's room.
DEAN: I think he might have felt upset at the "dumbass".
They sit in silence for a couple of moments, staring staright ahead. Dean rests his head on Castiel's shoulder.
CAS: So the second adoption had to wait.
DEAN: Yeah. I thought you would hate him.
CAS: Why would I hate him, Dean?
DEAN: Because he... he changes things, you know. He is something new in our lives. Something we've never tried before.
Castiel immediately cups Dean's head and looks straight into his eyes.
CAS: (whispering) I am not one to fear the new, Dean. You know, you taught me that.
The longer-than-formal kiss that follows is more passionate than any of them could have expected.

End of S15: Speculation
Let me propose that this may be what happens in 15x18, an episode where Dean and Cas apparently (according to Jensen and Misha) will share a scene that was heavy to shoot:
Cas gets his wings back.
Cas makes the choice to go back to Heaven.
So in 15x18, the heavy moment that Jensen and Misha referred to during VegasCon is quite possibly us getting a callback to the ET goes home exchange in S8: we get Cas and Dean saying goodbye.
Maybe this is for the best, they both think. Maybe the gates of Heaven are set to close for good, once the war is won, and no angel shall ever walk the Earth again and this is for the best, they both think.
Dean doesn’t think, not really, but he complies, because he’s learned how to accept things as they are, and let go, and Cas has now made his choice and his arc is complete and he’s ascending back to Heaven to help sort it out and keep angels like Duma from ever even attempting to spread their poison through his home ever again.
Yeah?
No.
I mean. No, I don’t like it, please, no, thank you, please?
So, because this thought overwhelmed me with all its potential, I have written out, in great detail, all my reasons for why I strongly disagree with the idea that Cas might ever end up in Heaven for good at the end of the series.
Watching through the show from 12x19-15x13 I have even stronger faith that he actually won’t, but I needed to get my anxiety out, so there it is.
I do not wish to see Dean and Cas’ journey ending on a goodbye, and I actually don’t believe that’s what we’ll get. I can see the value in Cas getting his powers back and I can see that happening, for sure, but I also believe there may be one final choice for him to make.
And that choice may very well be linked very strongly to his humanity and to where he belongs, which is Earth and with his family, but more importantly, to how he wants to belong there.

(it got very long, my loves) (no regrets)
Cheers!

my thoughts on the destiel scene in the most recent episode (you know the one)
spoilers ahead for 15x18
What the fuck
tw: major character death mentioned, I won’t go into details
we finally get a heart to heart and its the shittiest delivery ever all season I mean seriously dean looked constipated. it baffles me so much that an actor with such a range as jensen would deliver such an emotional scene so blankly.
Misha was perfect in this scene, his emotions and his delivery really resonated the heaviness of the situation. his speech was heartfelt and I’m so glad that we finally got to see castiel express himself as a human rather than as an angel.
I was literally sobbing by the end when he said I love you, but then the fucking writers had to ruin it by recycling old tropes like throwing dean against the wall or the “goodbye dean”. even if you don’t intend on making your characters love each other/be in a relationship the least you can do is give them a proper chance to say their farewells.
Maybe I am a bit angry sure, but this was literally the death of one of the most important characters in the series and all we got is the dissatisfaction of knowing that there could have been more and there wasn’t, whether or not that was cas confessing his love to dean early on or even just if they were platonic, they have been so cold towards one another this past season its shameful after everything they’ve been through for them to have such a brief ending
The reference to the hand print was not lost on me, it was a very nice homage to season 4 when castiel “gripped you (dean) tight and raised you out of perdition” and his hand was burnt onto dean’s bicep. it was a very lovely touch and very creative of them to sneak it in there, i really would have loved if they had made it more obvious. i feel like not many people noticed it especially the newer fans.
and lastly the scene with dean sobbing at the end... it broke my heart.
it broke my heart but like before it gave me the impression that he was crying because everything was so messed up, not because he just lost a family member. I guess it could be perceived as such out of the context of sam and jack being there so I imagine many will be piecing the two scenes together in the new gifs etc.
what are your thoughts? reblog me and let me know!
