So I’ve been compiling a list of potential mental issues/conditions that the Collector might have developed due to all the shit that they’ve experienced, and holy shit is it long so far. I haven’t even really finished it, and it’s still ridiculous.

Things That Aren’t Proven in Canon, But They Could Develop:

Derealization: I imagine they’d experience that a lot whilst trapped, especially in order to cope with the stress of being in a void like that.

Depersonalization: I have been imagining a whole one-shot that I call “Collector Games” in which the Collector talks a bit about some of the games they played with themselves when they were trapped that they still sometimes play. One of those games is called the “Made Up Game”, where they basically pretend that they are someone’s imaginary friend, that they (the Collector) doesn’t actually exist and isn’t real. They are made up. It’s a bit of a disturbing concept that I find fun to play with.

Disassociation: Obviously yes. This would 100% happen a lot in their prison.

Depression: Clearly. Why wouldn’t they have some form of depression at some point?

Things That Aren’t Quite Canon, But Have Evidence:

Escapism Addiction: Maybe it’s just their childish nature, but they seem to use the idea of “playing pretend” as a way to separate themselves from reality, and it seems that their constant obsession with playing games has begun to develop into a coping mechanism to avoid thinking about their trauma.

Dependency Disorder: They desperately need other people and cling to anyone who gives them even the slightest bit of positive attention. This kid has been abandoned so many times and they are a bit desperate.

PTSD (from being trapped): Look, he definitely has some form of PTSD, but he probably might have some from the specific incident of being trapped. We just haven’t seen it present itself yet.

Abandonment Issues: Close to being canon, but hard to find direct evidence of. Still, they have every reason to develop it to the point where I’d say it’s basically canon. They have been abandoned by so many people it’s insane.

Separation Anxiety: They cling to people like a lost puppy. Tied to his autophobia. He would get very distressed at being separated from people for too long.

Guilt Complex: They would probably end up feeling guilty about so much shit once they understand stuff better.

Sociotropy: They are a bit of a people pleaser to a surprising degree. He acts “selfishly” multiple times, but that’s more because they don’t really realize it. Most of the time, it seems like he’ll do whatever his friends wants to do specifically for the sake of gaining their approval. He seems to get bored of the Owl House game a bit quickly, but continues playing it because he thinks that that’s what King wants (he does a lot of what King wants). He also follows along with Belos’ plans for hundreds of years. Despite how they treat others, I get the feeling that this kid is desperate for approval.

Things That Are Basically Canon:

Autophobia: Literally canon. He doesn’t like being alone :(

Alexithymia: Can summarize a lot of their issues with empathy. Look up alexithymia and you will see how much of it fits them. Also lines up well with their “low empathy” autism coding.

Trust Issues: They have been betrayed constantly by what seems to be everyone in their life. This is made messy by the fact that they don’t trust anyone but also immediately trust people at the same time. They are such a mess

Betrayal Trauma: This issue is somewhat complex, but it fits well for them and would apply to them in multiple ways.

CPTSD (three times): First caused by some of the potential abuse they may have faced under the Archivists, then caused by long term solitary confinement, then caused by Belos just existing.

PTSD (again): He saw Luz die in front of him and probably blames himself. They’re obviously gonna have some PTSD from that.

Not a Specific Disorder, But is Definitely Something:

He lived in a serial killer’s basement for hundreds of years with no contact with the outside world. There must be some kind of condition or five caused by that.

I don’t throw the term “psychopath” around casually, but he was raised by multiple psychopaths who would casually kill people quite frequently. Belos also had some very abusive tendencies (we as a fandom have already determined the “covering them up with a blanket” thing to have been a common occurrence). This would cause some very complex issues that are hard to determine, specifically in terms of how they process empathy and understand other people.

His abandonment issues, emotional dependency, sociotropy, autophobia, and separation anxiety have created a very suggestible and emotionally vulnerable state of mind which have caused him to be very easy to manipulate.

Barely understands what death is.

Similar to alexithymia, but doesn’t understand that other people can get hurt or experience pain. Basically barely understands the concept of bodily autonomy.

So this kid has a lot of issues. And this is just a short version of the list. There’s a lot more issues they probably have that I didn’t address here. They are probably one of the most traumatized and messed up characters in the show. God damn. And they’re mentally 8 years old.

Kozuki Luffy AU where Luffy is Oden and Toki's eldest child who wanted nothing to do with being an heir and wanted to become the Pirate KIng thanks to Oden telling stories about Roger and his crew.

Timeskip, Momo gets sent to the future. Hiyori stays in the past and Luffy is de-aged and is sent to the future as well.

Due to the trauma of witnessing his his home burned down, hearing his mother's last words were a prophecy of all things. Luffy's brain basically deletes his memories as Kozuki Luffy.

Dragon picks the baby up, he send he'd only care for it for a while 'til he found a suitable orphange but nope. He got attached, his name is Monkey D. Luffy now.

Ace lives. Cuz Izo recognized Luffy (even if Luffy didn't recognize him) and saved him himself, Seat stone bullets sure are handy.

WCI is different since Luffy felt something off about Big Mom using her kids as measly tools?? That wasn't how a mother should treat her kids! Wait, how the flip does he know that? He ends up taking Katakuri and Pudding with him. (Pudding gains a crush on him too lmao)

TO WANNNOOOOO!!! He gets his memories back thanks to Pudding and some help from Raizo.

"How do you feel?" His eyes were shadowed by his bangs, but he had lifted his chin up. The others wished he hadn't, the pure anger and sorrow didn't belong on their captain's face.

"Like a widow." Luffy muttered, standing up and walking out the remains of the small shack.

The eldest Kozuki found himself infront of his retainers' 'graves', Kin'emon's grave. It was an insult to him! His fist met the ground and all the stones trampled to the ground under his rage.

Worst and best memories from the lost hex?

Well, Lost Hex is full of places to run, so I enjoyed that. It also had nice views, and... yeah 😅

On the other hand, I'd say the worst memory was when I thought Tails got robotized. I usually don't get that angry or sad, because I believe it holds me back from the freedom of enjoying life, but when that happened I was this close to beating the shit out of everyone. It was painful, to say the least. The closest person to me suddenly being gone because of my recklessness.. I've definitely been more careful in my missions with Tails since then.

There's also the memory of feeling lonely. Knuckles and Amy were not answering their communicator, Eggman had "died", Tails had been kidnapped.. I definitely don't want to go back to that feeling ever again.

But yeah, I guess I did have some fun there. Gravity is silly in that planet. I could finally show Tails that physics are useless as fuck 😆😆

I really hate when people dismiss Mo Ran suffering.

I love Wanning, and yes he did suffered a lot and yes he's a sweet little pie.

But Mo Ran also suffered. They at very least suffered equally, each, a different type of suffering. And Mo Ran is also a little pie, he's also good.

He took the flower in the place of CW after knowing him for only for two months or something. He wanted protecting fuckin worms, WORMS. He's a kind and sweet boy. And went through a lot in a very young age, the fact he snapped and killed all those people is on that, anyone so young that keeps being pushed, abused like that, can snap and have a moment of insanity. Kill a bunch of assholes and try kill yourself after is not exactly an act of pure evil.

And everything he did with the flower well he was with the flower and I don't get why some people can't separate and understand MR and TXJ.

I have seen this type of thing before multiple times, maybe because of it, that to me was so easy to understand and accept.

For example, in The Vampire Diares, we have the vampires with and without humanity. Stephan without his humanity is a psycho who rip people's head and than put them back, with humanity he's sweet and kind and don't hurt people.

In Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel with his soul is also kind and sweet and good, the first love interest of the MC, but without his soul he's a psycho who killed thousands, tried destroy the world and tortured emotionally and psychologically the MC who loved him. In both cases, is pretty clear that their both version is the same character, the same person, yet for more that they blame themselves, people around them(and mostly of the fans) understands that the version without the soul/humanity is a broken version, not complete, not full, therefore not really themselves. They/we all know that what they're as evil is part of them, is their dark side. Cause those storie are about that. We all have darkness in ourselves. And what keep us from doing evil, following our darkness is out humanity/our soul/our ability for goodness/empathy. Call what it may. Without we're incomplete. Broken. Not fully ourselves.

MR as TXJ, was broken, he was incomplete. Was not himself. He had not memories of good. He had no ability for good left.

I just don't get who is unable to forgive him, maybe cause I grew up with similar stories, forgiving Stephan, Angel. And god even those who were evil by choice and merely regretted later like Regina from Once Upon a Time.

You may not like him, why though why why, but dismiss his pain? That's a little out of my understanding, that boy suffered all kind of things someone could suffer for two lifetimes, before he was even 30.

The worse was how he was manipulated in all ways, his body became a puppet, his mind was deceived, his soul broken, his feelings played. Got killed, tortured, abused as a child, had that horrible experience with his mother...

Because of the flower, he as a broken soul, tortured the man he loved and whom he tried to protect and had sacrificed for.

Every time I think carefully about every single thing he went through I feel like crying and really sad and really angry at HBN, forgetting my whatever other feelings I might have for him. MR is just that one character I wish to keep in a little pot to protect from the world</3
