So like. What if there were a fic of Ivan and Fedyor falling in love? Just saying. Someone could write that...(and could that someone be you?!)
Fedyor Kaminsky is brought to the Little Palace when he is nine years old. Before that, he has lived his whole life in the place he was born: a small village about twenty miles southeast of Kribirsk. It is just close enough for him to be constantly aware of the Shadow Fold, looming like a thunderstorm on a hot summer day, and to know, also, the honor that it is when the examiners arrive, he receives a sharp prick in the arm, some sort of strange result takes place, and he is formally declared to be Grisha. His parents know it too, and are eager to tell him of it. They are not well off, and Fedyor is the sixth of seven children. The payment for their patriotic service will be welcome, and while his mother hugs him tightly and tells him to make the Saints proud, he feels, somehow, that they are not that grieved to see the back of him. He is the only child from his village that has been picked, and they all assemble to see him off. Just think. One of their own, in the Second Army.
Fedyor cries himself to sleep his first night in the dormitories, as most of the children do. But he wakes fully rested, hungry for breakfast, and eager to throw himself into his new life. He has a sunny temperament, a personable nature, that serves him well here, and any talented Grisha can climb high in the ranks, almost as high as the Black General himself. Back home, what did he have to look forward to, aside from the taunts and punches of his brothers, who always saw him as more like one of their sisters than one of them? He is learning things here. Religion and medicine and geography and history. And, of course, the arcane art of the Small Science, the one thing that binds these young people from all across Ravka. Their power, their responsibility, and their upcoming effort in the endless wars.
His first few years pass rather well, all things considered. When he is thirteen, it is officially declared that he will be taken onto the Order of Corporalniks, and – somewhat to everyone’s surprise, including his – he is best suited not as a Healer, but a Heartrender. It turns out that unassuming, smiling, friendly Fedyor, who knows everyone’s name and is always given an indulgent second portion of dessert from the doting canteen ladies, packs quite a punch.
It’s here where he first puts Ivan Sakharov on his back, and his whole life changes.
Fedyor and Ivan have known of each other, ever since they arrived in the same class of recruits. Ivan is a tough, taciturn northern boy from Chernast, skinny and scowling and always displeased about something, no matter what. Fedyor once saw him brood through the whole Winter Fete, and he has taken it as a professional challenge to get Ivan to smile. Once Fedyor plays a practical joke on him, to the awe of the entire dormitory, who would not dare to even imagine such things themselves. Ivan scowls at him like the Black Heretic himself, and stomps off to have his important life problems somewhere else. But now they’re both thirteen, Ivan is shooting up like a weed and channeling all that pent-up resentment into some really effective Heartrending, and Fedyor is regretting all his previous liberties. As they face each other and bow, thus to commence the duel on Botkin’s word, he thinks, Please don’t kill me. Please don’t kill me.
Then he remembers that he’s the same Order, he has the same red kefta awaiting him when he finishes his trials, that he has as much right to be here as some tight-arse bastard from the frozen northern wastes, and that is why, thirty seconds after the duel has begun, Ivan is flat on his back and looking astonished. Everyone is applauding, and Fedyor feels somewhat confused. He strides over to his fallen adversary and offers him a hand. “Good job.”
Ivan glares at him, exquisitely sensitive to the possibility that he’s being mocked. “You’ll regret this, Kaminsky,” he says, low-voiced. “Mark my words.”
After that, for several months, Fedyor lives in terror of going anywhere in the Little Palace alone, lest Ivan suddenly leap out from behind a shrubbery and murder him. He and Ivan spar in their classes, in practice, in trying to outdo each other in Baghra’s ridiculous lessons, throwing all their effort into the sort of stupid, pointless rivalry that can only be maintained by teenage boys with too much pride and too little sense. They start to look for each other wherever they go, waste no opportunity to glare heatedly, and they are sixteen years old when Fedyor notices to his extreme vexation that during all this time spent staring at him until he has memorized his face, Ivan has gotten a little… handsome.
(What? No? Ivan? Horrifying.)
Fedyor himself isn’t exactly cursed in the face department, once a persistent bout of acne clears up. With his wavy hair, dark eyes, and easy smile, he provokes his fair share of sighs and pining among the female Corporalniks, but he is oddly uninterested in reciprocating their advances. Then he and Ivan get paired together on some training exercise that goes horribly wrong, they are trapped in the woods for hours until someone comes to find them, and with nothing else to do, they are forced to actually talk. Ivan has that northern chip on his shoulder that they all seem to, and probably started fighting Fjerdans when he was two years old, but what he says next takes Fedyor completely aback. “You’re… not that bad,” he says grudgingly. “You’re the only one who’s brave enough to actually talk to me, not just tiptoe like a mouse.”
“Well.” Fedyor throws a stick of wood at him. “Have you considered being less of a total grouch all the time?”
Ivan scoffs, lunges at him, and they end up wrestling in the leaf mold, an exercise that both of them enjoy a bit too much and take extreme care that the other not notice. By the time the search party from the Little Palace comes to retrieve them, they have forgotten all about being lost. In fact, as they were lying on the ground together, tangled up and panting and staring at the stars, Fedyor had the strangest thought that it was the best night of his life, and he doesn’t have a clue what he should make of that.
After that, an even stranger thing happens: they become friends. Well, sort of. Ivan maintains his default posture of appearing to hate everything and everyone, but Fedyor is the only person he tolerates, or allows to yank his chain in any way. And in turn, though Ivan Sakharov is the last person who would seem to need any kind of protection, the favor is returned. Once, when a city boy from Os Alta starts going on about how savage northerners are, staring pointedly at Ivan the whole time, Fedyor launches him halfway across the room. He gets in trouble, but it’s worth it. And they do undoubtedly work better together, Fedyor fighting right-handed and Ivan fighting left. They cover each other’s weak sides, learn to anticipate each other’s moves, and…
It’s a deeply inconvenient fact of life that when you are a Heartrender, and are exquisitely sensitive to pulse rates, you notice when yours starts going consistently haywire around certain people. Especially when, the year they turn eighteen, they are assigned to room together. The Little Palace is spacious, but not enough for every Grisha to have his or her own room, and since they’re no longer children, they’re not expected to share with the entire class. So Fedyor and Ivan end up in a garret room of their very own, and it is here, to his extreme consternation, that the next phase of Fedyor’s torment re: Ivan begins.
It is difficult to share a small room with Ivan and not want to look at him, and unless he is much mistaken, Ivan always seems to be concentrating a little too hard on his books whenever Fedyor is changing clothes. Fedyor is self-aware enough by this point to know that he prefers men, but he has absolutely no idea as to Ivan. Do they do this sort of thing in Chernast, or does it distract from arm-wrestling bears and shooting drüskelle? Ivan is so constantly unwilling to admit any kind of weakness or effeminacy that Fedyor figures gloomily he’s just doomed to suffer in silence. Naturally.
Except then both of them start rejecting any other romantic overtures, and they even go to the Summer Fete dance together, and Fedyor is taken aback when Zoya Nazyalensky asks bluntly the next day, “So, you and Ivan? Really?”
“What?” Fedyor is aware that Zoya and Ivan cordially hate each other, though she and Fedyor have always gotten on. “We’re not – Zoya, it’s not like that!”
He pauses.
“At least,” he adds guiltily. “It’s not like that as far as we’ve said?”
Zoya gives him a look silently agreeing that for the sake of their friendship, they will never mention Fedyor’s terrible taste in men again, though that doesn’t mean she has to like it. As for her, she’s pining after Kirigan, as almost all Grisha do at some point. Fedyor did so himself – the Black General is gorgeous, all right, shoot him – but he cares about nothing except finding the mythical Sun Summoner and engaging in a busy schedule of brooding even more intense than Ivan’s. Ivan, for that matter, seems to have struck it off with him, as Kirigan always values talent, and Fedyor has to fight down an unbecoming surge of jealousy. It’s not like they’re something. Not really.
(Though not for lack of wanting.)
After that, an even stranger thing happens, which is that people start assuming that Fedyor and Ivan are, in fact, a couple. Fedyor gets asked how his boyfriend is doing (sometimes sardonically, sometimes in a tone that turns genuinely surprised when he hastens to correct them) and he minds it less and less. Of course, for his part, Ivan is utterly oblivious. They’re sitting in a sunny hallway one day, Ivan tolerantly letting Fedyor play with his hair (though he keeps it military-short and it’s not like there’s that much of it) when Genya Safin walks by, glances at them archly, and says, “You know, Ivan, you’re much nicer now that you’re going out with him.”
Ivan turns such a deep shade of purple that Fedyor’s afraid he’s going to blow a gasket. “What?!” he splutters. “We are not – we are not – we are not going out! Never! I don’t – what are you talking – I don’t even like him!”
Fedyor’s lip quivers, despite himself. “Come on,” he says, failing to make it entirely lighthearted, wounded deeper than he wants to admit. “You don’t mean that, right?”
Ivan turns to him, flustered. “No,” he says convulsively. “Don’t look sad. Don’t look at me like that. Shh. Of course I like you.”
Fedyor brightens.
Genya gives them an obnoxiously knowing look and walks away.
By now, they’re twenty-one, old enough to be properly deployed as soldiers to the front, and Fedyor can’t help but thinking about where Ivan is, what he’s doing, if he’s all right, whenever they’re apart. He doesn’t like it, it feels wrong and unnatural, they always did better side by side anyway. Finally, they both get back to the Little Palace after a grueling campaign of many months away, Ivan against the Fjerdans and Fedyor against the Shu Han. They see each other, and it’s like lightning, rooting them to the ground. They’re dusty, dirty, banged up, bruised and bloody, but they know as a simple truth, beyond any doubt or questioning, that Fedyor will be coming to Ivan’s room tonight, and that Ivan will sit up and wait for him.
And that, therefore, is what happens. Fedyor can barely concentrate on washing up and fetching supper because he is so fixated on the knowledge of what’s coming later. He goes through the motions, barely hears his friends, barely tastes what he’s eating. He scarcely manages to wait until it’s dark. Then he gets up, slips through the corridors – they no longer bunk together, but he knows the way – and reaches the door. Fights a final attack of nerves, about how long he’s been waiting and how it might go wrong – then knocks.
“It’s open,” Ivan calls from inside, his voice dark with wanting. Of course it is.
Fedyor steps inside, and looks at him. After all this time, it feels like he should make a speech, have something more grand to say, or perhaps even an I-told-you-so. He doesn’t get around to any of that. He can’t stand it. Instead he shucks his kefta in a quick, practiced movement. Runs across the room, and climbs, claws, into Ivan’s arms.
Their kiss is rough and wet and wild, mouths open, teeth dragging, tongues scraping, trying to get as close as they possibly can, and then closer. Ivan’s hands, deft and eager, rough with calluses, spread across Fedyor’s arms and shoulders, the neat muscled column of his torso. “You should have let me do that,” he scolds between kisses, evidently referring to the business of undressing Fedyor. “I’ve been waiting long enough.”
“You’ve been waiting long enough – ?!” Fedyor Kaminsky really does love this man, but Saints help him, he is dense. “You could have said something!”
Ivan looks at him with pure wickedness in his eyes. “I thought I just did.”
Fedyor groans, grabs Ivan’s head to kiss him again, and they roll down onto the covers together, tearing at the remaining clothes in their way. It’s raw and agonized and real, this coming together, this needing, this consummation and completion, and afterward, as Fedyor lies gasping on Ivan’s chest and Ivan sleepily strokes his hair with a tenderness that seems totally inconceivable to anyone who has met him at literally any other moment, Fedyor knows, in some way, he will never truly leave this room again. That he’s here. Home.
(Later, Fedyor finds out that Ivan actually asked his boss for help with his romantic quandary, and Kirigan’s advice was evidently so terrible that Ivan decided to just give up and go for it with Fedyor rather than trying that again. Even if Aleksander Kirigan is the Black General, the Shadow Summoner, the most powerful Grisha in the world, Ivan does not intend to let him forget it. They are all fortunate that Aleksander thinks it’s funny.)

WBT
Ship: Solomon/Asmodeus
Word Count: 2000
Warnings: None
A/N: I cannot begin to describe how happy I am to kick off Solodeus Week by bringing back WBT once again. I've been hella pumped since I saw college AU. (Do I project a little bit onto this AU? Oh definitely. No question.) But hey! I hope you guys enjoy! Comments are appreciated <3 Stay tuned for more content for Solodeus Week! (I did a combination of the two prompts for day 1)
Asmo plopped on top of one of the larger boxes taking up space in the small living room. This was temporary, just somewhere to stay for the next couple of years. It felt odd moving to such a tiny place after living in the big house he'd been in for years with his brothers. It seemed too quiet to him, even with neighbors just across the hall. He never thought he'd come to miss their noise, yet here he was. How were they doing? Did they miss him? Lucifer said he would always have a place to stay no matter where either of them ended up, but would he really? He wasn’t that far away from them, and yet hours felt like forever. Homesickness krept into his stomach, and just like on the car ride here, tears started to prick at his eyes.
He never imagined he could feel like this.
Excited to start his new life with Solomon, but sad to leave his old one behind.
The remaining rays of sunlight crept through the window and glinted off of his engagement ring. Creating tiny fireflies dancing across the walls of the room. Delicate fingers moved around the band, shifting it back and forth. He'd gotten used to playing with the ring, shifting it back and forth in his fingers and playing with the gemstone in the center.
A huff and a final box dropping to the floor brought Asmo's attention back to the doorway. Solomon brushed his hands off and smiled up at him before joining him. He pecked his lips so sweetly, brushing his thumb along his cheek catching a few of the tiny tears on his way.
"Welcome home."
"It feels more like a box kingdom or a warehouse to me," Asmo murmured, glancing over at the mountains of boxes spread over what would be their living space. This certainly didn't look like home, and Asmo wasn't sure when it would start feeling like it either. Especially since it was temporary in the grand scheme of things.
There was still so much to do.
Returning their rental first thing in the morning.
Unpacking all of their boxes.
Putting everything away.
Introducing themselves to the neighbors. What would their neighbors even think of them? A young couple moving in next door, engaged right out of their undergrad, unsure of what their future holds...
It would be at least a day or two before they got it all done, and the very idea made Asmo ache. There was so much more Asmo wanted to be doing with their time together before Solomon's coursework started up and before his internship really kicked off. They were both going to be so busy soon and the uncertainty that came with not entirely knowing what these new experiences would be like had his stomach churning.
And it was all so much for temporary.
"But it's our box kingdom."
"That doesn't make me feel better Solomon."
Solomon chuckled and kissed him before moving over to look at the boxes, "Well, maybe you'll feel a little better after a full night's rest. Do you remember which box we put our bedding in?"
A full night's rest. That was rich coming from his fiance who couldn't start a healthy sleep schedule to save his life. The only thing that ever made it better was the promise of Asmo being in bed to come cuddle up next to, and even that was debatable when finals week rolled around. The man lived on coffee and shots of espresso. Now that he was in a graduate program, Asmo would be working double time to make sure Solomon balanced school and everything else in his life in a healthy manner.
Asmo hopped off of the box he'd claimed and started to help going through the boxes. He'd had luck finding pans, lights, picture frames, but no bedding. Not even a blanket. Part of him worried they overlooked packing any, but the more rational side of him remembered how picky he'd been about buying a set. There was no way he forgot it. He would never, ever, forget something so essential to his sleep routine. But that would just be his luck wouldn’t it? He wasn’t feeling great and the universe wanted to make him feel even worse. Both he and Solomon stood over the final box, neither one making a move to open it.
"Solomon."
"Mhm?"
"If it's not in here I'm going to cry."
"Yeah-"
"That is a threat, not a promise."
"Oh I'm aware."
Solomon knelt down and started peeling off the tape keeping the moving box sealed. Asmo's heart raced with each passing moment. It had to be in there. It just had to be in there. Finally, the tape snapped back and the box popped open and fluffy pillows sprung forth, propelled by the blankets and comforters beneath.
Oh Asmo could have cried out in relief right there. The move had been stressful enough without the fear that they hadn't gotten everything. He took the soft sheets in his own hands and held them close. He would have a comfortable place to sleep tonight. He wouldn't have to pester his brothers to drop off bedding. His brothers wouldn't be able to make fun of him for forgetting bedding. That was the last thing he needed to add to the stresses of moving in.
But on the other hand, if he had forgotten them, he’d be able to see them.
Solomon tugged on the blanket before nudging up against Asmo’s shoulder. “You know… The living room is a lot closer than the bedroom,” he said, “Do you know what I’m thinking?”
Asmo chuckled and moved away from him, “I’m your fiance not a mind reader dearest.”
Solomon’s kisses were always wonderful no matter where he placed them. Warmth spread from his cheek throughout the rest of him as Solomon’s lips made contact with his skin. He felt some of his anxieties leave him right there. Oh how Asmo adored this man.
“Well,” Solomon’s arms came around him, his lips close to his ear, “I was thinking about when we were kids. How we always had the best sleepovers. We’d sneak snacks from the kitchen, stay up past our bedtime, watch movies we weren’t supposed to-”
He allowed the sentence to trail off, and when Asmo looked at him he saw the hopeful little glint in his eye. Their long history together was special, and their weekly sleepovers were no exception. It didn't matter the weather, who's house or what they planned on doing. As long as they were together, they were guaranteed to have the best of times. Asmo could leave him hanging. He could decide to not finish his train of thought and to pretend he didn’t remember. But he couldn’t be that cruel. So instead he pecked Solomon’s lips.
They were sappy.
But Asmo liked it that way.
“And we made the most amazing pillow forts,” he finished.
“Exactly.”
Asmo spun out from his arms so he could face him properly, “We have work to do and you want to procrastinate to build a fort? For shame my darling. For shame.”
He gave him what he wanted. Now he had to tease his fiance. It wasn't something to question. It was mandatory.
“And you’re saying that you don’t want to have a pillow fort and relive our fun childhood days Mr. Morningstar? Days when we didn’t have to worry about being adults or doing adult things?” Solomon followed after him for getting about the blanket and grabbing at his waist once more, “I don’t think you should be shaming me.”
"Being an adult isn't all that bad, we still get to play house," Asmo let his head rest against Solomon, coaxing him into swaying with him for a moment.
"Playing house never involved rent, or work, or real college classes."
"True," certain parts of adult life did suck, "But we can also do fun things like get married and move in together."
"And make pillow forts?"
Asmo smiled, "And make pillow forts. I suppose."
Even if it was full of boxes, this place was home. Well, that wasn't entirely true now was it? Home wasn't just any place he moved into. Home was wherever Solomon was. This place wouldn't be home if Solomon wasn't here. He was home, and Asmo would follow him anywhere. A house was empty without him and the bed would always be cold. He brought life and color into the rooms he walked in.
Solomon was comfort.
Solomon was belonging.
Solomon was the drive and encouragement that Asmo needed in his life.
"In that case, can we make a pillow fort before my classes start?"
Asmo tilted his head, as if thinking over the possibility. They did always have fun making them, even if they needed help from time to time.
The packed boxes did have one perk after all. They served as the pillars of their little kingdom, standing tall and proud above the couple. Pillows outlined their forms as their limbs were tangled together, blue light from their phones casting light shadows over their faces.
Solomon tucked a stray strand of hair behind his ear and Asmo leaned into his touch. "Isn't this fun?" Solomon's voice sent a shiver through him. His voice was warm and smooth, it was something that Asmo would never tire of, not for as long as he lived. "It's just you and me, in our own little kingdom."
Asmo nodded as he let out a soft hum in agreement.
This was comfortable. This was familiar. The soft beat of Solomon's heat lulled Asmo into security. It was gentle, consistent, and Asmo's guidance.
"Asmodeus," Solomon's grip tightened, "I promise, I'll do everything in my power to make this place home."
Asmo's hand moved up to Solomon's cheek and his thumb slowly moved along his milky skin. Solomon loved him. Solomon truly and honestly loved him. No conditions, no second thoughts. That love was all he needed.
He was afraid, he was unsure what the future would bring. He knew that their lives would keep changing and moving along, that they were still going wherever they were taken, but he did have Solomon.
Solomon, his wonderful fiance.
Solomon, his constant morning star.
Solomon, his meaning.
Solomon, his rock.
Solomon, the man who would do anything for him and have his back no matter what.
One day they would live together in a nice house, they'd both be successful, they wouldn't have to worry about what came next. But for now home brought him here, and home was staring back at him with big grey eyes. He was right where he belonged surrounded by boxes and a blanket shielding him from the world.
Perhaps Solomon had known how he’d been feeling, maybe he’d been trying to alleviate some of his hope sickness. Perhaps Solomon was feeling homesick himself. Even if he didn’t know, having Solomon around made him feel better. Yes he still missed his family dearly, but they promised to call and visit him. He would see them again. If anything, Lucifer would make sure they had another family gathering.
But now was his time to spread his wings.
Now was his time to start a branch on their family tree.
Now was his time to start building, expanding.
Even if Solomon didn’t know how he was feeling, Asmo still felt safe and at peace in his arms. Memories of popcorn and movie nights and small fairy lights flooding his senses. A worriless past became his present. Years of playing house were finally becoming a reality. Just like then he could share it all with Solomon. His other half, his completion, everything that made his little world good and beautiful.
He was going to be fine.
He was going to be safe.
He was going to be happy.’’
For the first time, Asmodeus learned a word he thought he already knew.
"Solomon, you are my home."

Ship Asks: El Cid x Mine
Author's little den: This is dedicated to @lamaquego that 4 months and 10 days ago asked me to write for her a fanfiction about these two characters and how their "love story" would unfold in a less unforgiving AU than canon. I have to say sorry to you because I'm not able to fulfill that promise, I tried but in this period just can't bring myself to write anything more than these posts, which are a sort of relief for me. So, this is for you, in exchange for that fanfiction that, like that love story, never was. I really hope you can like it 😁
For all the others who just read this post, enjoy it and spread word of this nice ship 👍
*
(AU: Mine lives after the Gaiden's events)
*
How would they describe each other to loved ones who haven’t met their partner yet?
El Cid: "She was a friend a long time ago. No, perhaps it was more than that. She was my favorite rival" (To Lacaille). Apart from that, don't be fooled by her elegant appearance, she was and still is an incorrigible pest.
Mine: The most stubborn man I have ever met! Although he seems quite intimidating at first sight with his sharp looks, he's quite funny to poke fun at. It was one of the few past times I had back then when the three of us lived together in that forest house.
(Don't trust if he says mean things about me, it's only envy)
How do they let their loved ones know they are dating?
They don't. Nobody cared if these two were comfortable enough to convey the news, because their "loved ones" just knew. Felser had called it since the very beginning and I mean it. Little Sasha had started sparkling with joy and didn't shut up about it for days, always trying (and failing) to stalk the couple. She was too happy that El Cid finally decided to have a life. Sisyphus became insufferable for the same reasons. Instead, the others never suspected anything: the doubt about capricorn having feelings at all was like a huge ham over their eyes.
Who still blushes when their partner compliments them?
You'd never guess it ;)
Who is most likely to check how their day is going?
When they were little kids training to reach the perfect blade, each in their own way, both often happened to forget about things like time etc... So the one that made sure nobody fainted from exhaustion was Felser. Then, growing up, the situation stayed the same got a little better. Now, Mine worked consistently less than him having left behind the obsession her dream had turned to, now she worked as sword-maker/sharpener in Rodorio -sometimes she even gave lessons to Lacaille-, but surprisingly El Cid is the one writing her more often asking for things like how the day at work is going, or just to hearing her complain about her clients. Mine writes more about the lines of "Did you remember to sleep this week between the trainings, you Spanish stakhanovite?"
(ok, the anachronism is necessary here)
Who gets jealous easiest?
None of them.
Who is the happy morning person and who is grumpy and just wants to go back to bed?
Starting from the fact that a "happy morning person" is more than not an aberration of nature (Kardia's words), the answer is that both are the grumpy type of morning people. Both Mine and El Cid are used to wake up to go and train at the crack of dawn since they were kids, but it doesn't mean they are happy about it. She is the one who complains loudly about it, but go ask Dohko what happens if he practices his new instrument at the early hours of the day. If you dare, I mean.
Who takes the longest to get ready and who is the most tidy and organised
Both are most tidy and organized, but El Cid reached a pathological level at it.
What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could?
Mine is annoyed by his self destructive training schedule because she sees it is eating at him and plus they rarely get to spend a lot of time with each other because of it, but differently from Sysyphus and the others she does understand his motives and drive to become the holy blade himself. She literally consumed her whole soul for a similar goal, after all. She wouldn't change anything, though. Not even his emotional constipation.
El Cid could list a very long list of pranks that annoyed him. But nothing about her specifically. Only the fact that she let herself corrupt her noble dream in a demonic obsession. But he does not put it against her. It wasn't her fault, after all, she didn't want it, it just happened.
Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt?
First of all, they don't even know what a t-shirt is. Secondly, she mostly wears women' kimonos (and quite revealing, now that we're at it), so I don't think it's a great mystery why they don't possibly exchange their clothes. Even if once Mine tried to bribe him during a bet, obviously, he vehemently refused and nothing could be done about it. Mine, instead, just doesn't like shirts.
Who plays pranks on the other?
Once, Mine used to sing in the shower with a very awfully shrieking voice with the sole goal of annoying his partner, who just happened to be a very light sleeper at the 3 am. Then, they were reported to the local police and she reluctantly stopped much to his relief.
Who says ‘I love you’ first?
El Cid. The trauma of seeing her revived as Phobetor's illusion and being forced to fight her to death broke every ounce of restraint left. As soon as they found each other again (because it's my AU and I can), that was the first thing he said. He couldn't take other blows on his too fragile heart. Risking waiting too much until she'd slip from his grasp again was out of question. By the way, he almost canonically said it in the end of the Gaiden so it's not too farfetched. She obviously understood this urgency and was delighted to declare that now they could really love and care for each other openly. In a real relationship. Then, she demanded a date, but this is another story.
Their reaction to the other beating them at something
Mine beats him at something: She gloats for the rest of the month, he's extremely annoyed and his pride battered, but he refuses to show it externally. If someone pokes him for it, though, he's met with a truly icy glare.
El Cid beats her at something: He looks like it couldn't go otherwise, Mine screams at him for a hour because he supposedly had cheated and then plans her revenge with Sasha. Because she embodies fair play.
Their favourite activity to do together
Talking about their shared dream and challenge each other at who reached the best results and showing their progresses.
The song that describes them the best
The Calling - Wherever you will go
Which one is most likely to get arrested?
Mine, definitely.
Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror?
He's too mature for these things, she'd instead rather use more refined method of writing. Like a good old note written in bloodlike tomato sauce saying "Remember to go to the grocery store", or something like that, to make him have a heart attack in the morning. She says it wakes you up like nothing else. He just see them with a raised eyebrow.
One headcanon about this OTP that breaks your heart
Reality
One headcanon about this OTP that mends it (or the plot of the fanfiction I should've written but couldn't)
Mine doesn't disappear when Phobetor is defeated and the mirage of Catalania turns out to be just that, an illusion. Instead, she finds herself to have been really revived by the dream god's power, much to both her and his breathtaking happiness. It's something none of them even dared to dream, the possibility of having a future, even if the prospect of the Holy War still stood as a Damocles's blade on their neck. Lacaille just becomes their self-proclaimed adopted son, no matter how much El Cid protested that it was ridiculous (she supported him, btw). They arrive at the Sanctuary where she is immediately welcomed with a mix of curiosity and respect by most of its saints. Curiosity because nobody ever saw a Japanese woman and she not even was a saint. Respect because nobody in their right mind had ever imagined El Cid of all people bring a woman between them, so she had to be really special. However, she is friendly with everyone and soon becomes friend of Sysyphus (their favorite topic of complain about El Cid's habits) and then, the little Sasha when she was brought there a couple of years later. The girl was delighted to be with another woman, just like she was with Calbera. After the war, El Cid survives, always because I can, but he's affected in daily life by the loss of his dominant arm and just doubles his training schedule for making up to his handicap, although Mine herself often berates him for it worried about him. Sasha is deeply saddened to see his inability to adjust to a life that doesn't involve war and death and orders to both of them to go and live their lives together in any place they want, like free and ordinary people who deserve to live happily after all they were put through. Like she did with Yuzuriha and Yato in Jamir. Both understood it and tried to do their best to fulfill the goddess's wish, even if life isn't always without problems. They did manage to get a happy life together and that's what is important.
Asks weird questions in the middle of the night
Sysyphus. If it were a modern AU, he'd be the typical insecure friend who phones you at ungodly hours of the night to ask you advice about his problems. And El Cid would be the friend who at first would answer it (because it could be something important) and then leaving the phone in the fridge until the call expires. Mine just would be amused at their antics and frustrated her sleep was interrupted.
Who can't keep their hands to themselves?
Phantaso
What is the most embarrassing thing they have done in front of each other?
Ask Felser if you really want to know. It's your only hope, because their lips are sealed shut on mutual accord.
First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight?
Absolutely not (they both nod). When they first met they had a strange impression of each other, like the other was an alien, staring with a confusingly fascinated air that made Felser to chuckle, amused.
She was a Japanese little girl, so lithe and short that made people doubt she was that age, with strange red eyes that he had never seen before (he'd see them again only when Tenma'll cross his way). But after the initial surprise, he descovered she was a mischievous little pest, who loved getting him exasperated only for the satisfaction of snatching a reaction out of him, with the complicity of the oldest of them. But her dedication to her work as a sword sharpener was truly something to look up to. He really believed she'd manage to create the perfect blade infusing her soul in it, like he was trying to do to his body.
To her, instead, he had seemed like a little crow. A scrawny vampire-like-pallid kid with eyes too sharp and old for his age, too responsible and silent, the perspective of spending years training together seemed boring at the time. But his accent was funny, like he tried very hard to get rid of it and learning their common language, just the way she did with hers (in the meanwhile it was Felser who translated for them). As it was his grumpiness in the morning or the fact he was so unused to gentleness that the moment he received a good word or gesture immediately clung to it like a lifeline. But still, he was too rigid, even for her who was the same. A perfect Nagagire who needed her to enliven his brutal training sessions. After all, she's sure the best holy sword would be hers, but who says she can't have some fun in the process?
No, it definitely wasn't love at first sight. But despite the beginning, they gradually recognized in each other such a determination, a desire to go beyond their maximum limit, the same burning, inextinguishable, complementary dream both lived to fulfill (together, possibly) that attracted them like a magnet. The very Catalania was the tangible proof of that.
Does their work ever interfere with the relationship?

Description: Wanting to get out of your parents house and experience what the world had to offer is way more expensive than people tell you it will be. So when your glamorous “manager to the stars” cousin Hoseok hooks you up with a  job as the live-in maid for a hillside, massive mansion, you feel as though life might actually be looking up. That is until the mansion’s absentee high profile celebrity owner surprises you by moving back in leaving you to wonder if this mansion is big enough for you and his huge ego.
You don’t know whether to feel relieved or not. Yes, you were happy that you still had a place to stay and you didn’t have to move back in with your parents leaving your beginnings of a life behind.
But on the other hand, Taehyung was right. You were stuck with him.
This mansion might be big, but Taehyung’s ego was already suffocating you.
Chapter 4:
From that day on, your life in Taehyung’s mansion became a living hell. It was almost like he took time out of his day specifically to find ways to bother the crap out of you. Whether it was leaving a full mess in the kitchen after making his meals or tracking in mud through the front door on rainy days, everything Taehyung did caused you to have to basically follow him around cleaning up behind him.
Over the course of these few weeks, you had come to find out a couple of very specific things about Kim Taehyung. The first was that in the comfort of his own home, when Taehyung had no schedule for the day, he didn’t think it was important to wear a shirt. Like, ever. All he wore was his stupid silk pajama pants and fuzzy socks around the house. And even in the rare occasion that he did wear a shirt, it was usually the matching button down top to his silk pajama pants that was left unbuttoned.
Your little teenage crush on Taehyung had quite certainly ended the day you met him in person, but you had to admit, he was still a very attractive man. And even your strong will power had trouble not admiring his beautiful, toned stomach and stunning visuals as he walked so nonchalantly around the mansion. You were still overwhelmingly attracted to him. Or really only to his body. But you still hated yourself for it.
The second thing you noticed about Kim Taehyung was that he was a very, very needy person. And not just any kind of needy, the kind of needy where it felt like he couldn’t be left to his own devices for more than an hour without calling you to ask a snarky question, ask you to fetch an item for him, or do some stupid task for him that was so random and unnecessary that you’re starting to think he’s just making it up as he goes.
But you were his maid, not his personal servant. And you told him that multiple times. But each time you would object to a task he would give you, his response would be along the lines of: “You know how close Hoseok and I are. And even though he’s the one controlling your employment here, I can be very persuasive when I want to be. I could call him right now actually-” And to that you would jump at his words to put a stop to whatever he was about to do. Grumbling in acceptance of whatever menial task he had assigned to you.
They weren’t even a veiled threats. He would just outright give you an ultimatum. And to be very frank, with Taehyung’s power and influence in his record label, he had the ability to just fire Hoseok in an instant and then fire you directly after.
But Taehyung wouldn’t be that cruel… Or would he?
Eventually you stopped fighting back, until one very specific request pushed you over the line.
“Oh Y/N!” The intercom chimed from the hallway of your wing of the mansion with Taehyung’s sickenly smooth, deep voice. Ugh, you wish you could rip that thing out of the wall!
It was so nice in your bed. So warm and soft with the new fluffy blanket you had just bought from the department store. It was a bit of a splurge but you had a little extra money from selling one of your paintings at your painting classes’ semi-annual art auction and you decided to treat yourself to something nice for the increasingly chilly Fall nights ahead.
The absolute last thing you wanted to do was drag yourself out of bed to go see what ridiculous thing Taehyung could want from you at this hour. It was after 11:00 PM. What could you do for him this late at night?
The intercom was so far away. You could ignore him and pretend like you didn’t hear it because you were sleeping, but you learned your lesson about a week ago when Taehyung wouldn’t stop calling your name for an hour straight until you answered.
So off to the intercom you went. Stepping out of your bed with your comfy blanket left behind, you drag your feet out of your room to your wing’s common area and press the round button on the intercom. “What could you possibly want Taehyung? Haven’t I done enough for you today?” Your words come out in a sort of croak from not having spoken in a couple of hours while relaxing in your room.
Taehyung had gone out to god knows where for a couple of hours leaving you with some much needed ‘me time’ consisting of a few laps in the pool, a nice stop by the sauna, and a relaxing night of catching up on your reading in your bed.
“Come to my room,” Taehyung speaks from the other side of the intercom. “I have a present for you.”
“Do I seriously have to Taehyung? Can’t this wait until tomorrow?” You really didn’t want to make the trek all the way to his side of the house. It was easily a 10 minute walk to the other side. Hence the need for the intercom system. In fact, most of the times Taehyung had called you to do something it was usually through the intercom or in passing while you were out of your wing in the main part of the house cleaning.
But a present? Taehyung has never been any kind of nice to you and he’s definitely not a giving person. What could he want to gift you?
“I buy a present for you out of the goodness of my heart and you’re telling me that you can’t find it in you to walk a couple of steps to my room to come collect it from me?” His words come out like a child’s pout and you hate the way he is guilting you into this but your morals tell you that he is right. And you know he won’t stop pestering you until you go over there.
You decide it’s really not worth the fight. There are other battles to be won with this kid. “Be there in 10.” You curtly answer and head out of your wing without listening to whether he gives a response or not.
The house is dim since it’s only two residents were about to go to sleep on their own sides of the house, but you navigate through the white marbled floor, white walled hallways easily. This house is truly beautiful, especially at night. The artworks scattered throughout the house consist of statues, paintings, framed drawings, and even a really cool installed digital art piece. The individual spotlights on each work are the only source of lighting around you.
Eventually you land at Taehyung’s bedroom door. There’s muffled music coming from the other side. Slow and sensual. Relaxing. Sounds of your light knock on the intricate black wood door reverberate over the soft sound of music.
“Come in,” His low voice calls. Of course he couldn’t be bothered to open the door for you. Thoughts like that probably never cross his mind. Why would he willingly get up and open the door when you could open it yourself perfectly fine? Jeez, even the things that this boy doesn’t do bothers you.
You don’t know what you were expecting. You had cleaned Taehyung’s room before but it had always been when he was away. With his presence, though, everything feel different. It felt like everything in this room was designed specifically to accentuate Taehyung’s aura. It was everything that pulled you into Taehyung when you were his fan. It was what you had always imagined being around him would be like.
Smooth and mellow music floated through the air and the slightly dimmed lighting brought out the deepness of the maroon and grey colored walls. His room was a distinctly different style from the rest of the mansion, but why, you never found out. And it smelled like him, weirdly enough. That cologne you had been intoxicated by on the first day you met him seemed to be seeping from the walls.
You were walking into a lion’s den with the lion right in front of you. But for some reason, you still dragged your feet forward.
Taehyung was lounging comfortably on top of his impossibly large bed, propped up with his shirtless torso leaning on a sea of dark grey pillows to match his bedding. He was holding some book and wearing one of his countless silk pajama pants. This pair was a dark blue paisley print. Seriously, how many pairs of those did he have? You’ve never seen him wear the same pair. Not like you were paying any attention to that.
As soon as you walked through the threshold, Taehyung’s gaze was on you. His blonde hair was damp, as if he just got out of the shower before you walked in. If that was true, thank god he bothered to put on pants before you got here.
You thought your room was big when you first moved in, but that was just one of the guest rooms. Taehyung’s room was the master bedroom. And in its entirety, it could be its own house. Among other things, there is a sitting area with a large flat screen to the left of the massive plush bed, a mahogany bookcase which was actually a staircase to the upper loft with another sitting area and a beautiful skylight, and to the right of the bed, decorations and a doorway leading to the large spa like bathroom and closet.
With his eyes still trained on you, you come to a stop a few feet from the foot of the bed. A safe distance, you think. You really disliked the guy in front of you but damn, was this room and your physical attraction to him getting the best of you right now. Maybe it’s just because you’re tired and you can’t think too straight, but if you moved any closer to him, you weren’t sure what would happen.
Taehyung’s dark expression turns into a smirk as he still lounges in his relaxed position. His eyes rake down your body slowly making you slightly uncomfortable. You clear your throat. “Well? I’m here.” You weren’t going to wait forever. You could practically hear your bed and new blanket calling your name.
“That you are,” He takes his time to answer after he’s fully looked you over. “And in such skimpy clothing,” His words come out slightly breathy and he licks his lips as he shifts his position to tilt his torso forward to get a better look at you. Looking down, you realize you forgot to change into something more modest than your short pajama shorts and light tank top in your haste to solve the nuisance of Taehyung’s call. You didn’t even have your bra on. You were fully ready to go to bed until his stupid request.
You fix your shorts from where they had slightly ridden up on your walk over here and fold your arms across your chest instinctively. “You said you had something for me.” Is all you reply. Better to keep your conversations short and simple. This room. With it’s seductive music and smells and darkness. And Taehyung looking like that. It’s threatening to cloud your judgement and you really can’t let the lion attack. You just had to keep telling yourself that he is one of the rudest, most entitled, selfish people you have ever met. Who cares if he’s hot. You were never going to go down that road.
Taehyung nods as he moves his legs to the side of the bed and pushes himself up to slowly walk in your direction. You don’t move an inch as you stand your ground and train your eyes to the wall. Avoiding stealing a glance at his beautifully golden torso and low riding pajama pants as he walks towards you. Ok, maybe you peeked a little.
You were so focused on not looking at him that you miss how he has come to stand right behind you until you can practically feel his presence close to your back. His scent is stronger now. He smells clean and that hint of jasmine you smelled on him from before is stronger now. In a moment, Taehyung’s plump lips are at your ear. His hand slowly snakes around your waste to rest just lightly at your upper waist, dangerously close to the underside of your breast, caressing the space there. Your body tenses up instantly.
“Tell me baby…” His breath tickles your ear and your body starts to betray you. There’s no way for Taehyung to know this, but baby is your favorite pet name and you can’t help but shiver at his use of the word with his low voice. Obviously taking notice to your reaction, he chuckles lowly behind you. “Is this what you wear every night, or do you wear even less when it gets hot?” Taehyung squeezes the area of your torso he has under his palm in emphasis. His words and his touch strike something in you and you immediately feel heat pool between your legs. You almost moan but bite your tongue quickly to save yourself from that embarrassment. You couldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing how he affected you. But before you can think any further or protest in any way, Taehyung, his lips, and his hand, are gone as soon as they appeared.
You turn quickly around about to give him a piece of your mind in protest but Taehyung disappears into his walk-in closet and re-appears a minute later with something on a hanger.
Is... Is that what I think it is?
Taehyung stands proudly with the outfit in front of him. If you could even call it an outfit. In reality, it was a white see-through bodice and bralette with a short black skirt that wouldn’t even cover half of your ass. And attached were black fishnet stockings with with bows on the tops of them.
“What the hell is that?” This really couldn’t be your ‘gift’ could it? You were dumbfounded once again by this boy and so unbelievably offended. You have honestly never been more mad in your life. Only Taehyung could get you all hot and bothered and then immediately turn around and piss you off.
But a slutty maid costume? Are you fucking kidding me! After running around tirelessly over these past few weeks, doing everything he has asked you with only a little bit of resistance at the beginning, with not so much as a thank you for anything you have done for him. He tells you he has a gift for you and it turns out to be a slutty fucking maid costume?
“It’s your gift! I saw it and instantly thought of you.”  The mockery was crystal clear in his eyes. Taehyung raises his eyebrow suggestively. “I want you to wear it around the house from now on,” He looks so amused with himself. So satisfied with his sick humor.
He wasn’t doing this to be funny. No, this was beyond a joke. The anger inside of you kept growing until you barely could take it anymore.
No. No way. You were not under any circumstances ever, ever going to put on that costume. Taehyung could ask you to do anything else for the house and you would not object. But this? This takes disrespect to a whole new, personal level.
“No.” You say simply. Surprisingly very calm for what fury you feel like unleashing on the inside. But you have to stay strong. He can’t see how this affects you. He wants your reaction.
Taehyung’s devilish smirk falters for a second, but then returns quickly. “I’m sorry, would you like me to call Hoseok and tell him you’re being unreasonably uncooperative with me? You know, I have already been telling him how unwilling you are to do actual work in this house,”
You can’t help but scoff at that. You literally did everything for this house. But you didn’t care anymore. His threats meant nothing to you. And if you had to continue with this mistreatment, you didn’t want to be forced to comply anymore. No matter what life you would be giving up. “Go ahead. Call Hoseok and tell him how I won’t wear your slutty maid costume around the house to be paraded around like your own personal play thing. I’m sure he would love to hear how intentionally degrading you are being towards his employee and his cousin.”
Your words are firm and strong. You will not let him take advantage of you. “Go ahead. Get me fired. But I have never and will never tolerate being treated like this. Goodnight, Taehyung.”
And with that, you push past him walking straight back to your own wing of the mansion. Far, far away from that despicable man you left behind you.
The third thing you had learned about Taehyung: He truly had no boundaries.

A Court of Steel and Fire (2/?)
Summary: Post-ACOFAS. My take on Nesta’s banishment to the Illyrian camps with Cassian and her corresponding recovery process. Alternatively, a reminder that hardened steel doesn’t melt easily. ~~ All the characters/locations are owned by Sarah J. Maas :). Chapter 1 Here Ao3 Link Here ~~
Nesta groaned as she awoke, the outside light giving her such a piercing headache she couldn’t open her eyes in the slightest.  Not to mention, her muscles were in excruciating pain as well; how much had she had to drink last night?  She whimpered as she tried to roll on her side and tug her comforter over her head to shut out the light.
But her hands met empty air, rubbing only against the roughness of the top of her sheets.  As the haziness of sleep wore off, she began to wonder how her Velaris apartment was getting this much light streaming into it to begin with; she always had the blinds closed, and it wasn’t as if the city was particularly bright to begin with.  But then, that bastard had probably left her window open when they had left the other morning, and she must’ve forgotten to close it.
She calmed her mind in order to try to progress along that resulting sequence of events.  She remembered Cassian dropping by to accompany her, then she was yelling at her sister – she gave another whimper and scrunched her still-sealed eyes as a particularly sharp migraine shot through her head, but kept working – then...Cassian was taking her back home, and she was packing to go...
Her eyes shot open then immediately slammed shut as the light from the large window beside her filled her vision, causing her head to light up in pain and prompting a small scream as she covered her face.  She heard footsteps come running towards her, but she didn’t particularly care, considering the amount of pain she was in. Seconds later, the door came crashing open, and she ducked under the sheets to try to escape the noise.
“Sorry.”
Though she still embraced the darkness beneath her sheets, she could feel his apologetic wince from the softness of his whisper.  She merely grunted back, too exhausted to tell him to get out.  He walked lightly – thank the gods – to the side of her bed, and she turned her back to him, then changed her mind as she realized she was now facing the window and chose to bury her face in the sheets instead.
“Can I get you anything?”
“Out.” Her voice was stifled by the sheets in her face, and she heard him sigh in frustration.  She decided not to give him the time to verbalize those emotions.  “Everything. Hurts. Out.”
Her words elicited a brief pause on his part, then she felt his presence fade with the sound of his footsteps.  No sooner had she been given this short time to relax, though, than his footsteps returned, and the bedsprings rasped with the pressure of him sitting beside her.  She gritted her teeth – this was the last thing she was in the mood for – but she peeked her head out from under the sheets, opening her eyes as thinly as she could to look at him.
“I’m fairly positive I said–”  Nesta was cut off by Cassian dropping an unmarked tin right in front of her face. She moved slightly to get a better vision of him and to retort, edge lining her voice.  “And what–” She pushed the tin slightly with the tips of her fingers. “–is that?”
“It’s a special oil Illyrians use, made from a sap found only in the trees lining the Illyrian Steppes.  It should make your muscles calm down enough to let you sleep a little longer, which should make that headache–”  He narrowed his eyes, halting for a few seconds and perhaps debating his next words.  “–and hopefully that attitude go away.”
She exhaled at him in disgust, then turned her attention back to the tin, immediately stilling at her realization of his implication. The idea of him applying it to her, his hands massaging her muscles, working their way down her back...she shook her head.  Once, during the war, the idea would’ve sent chills down her spine, heat in her core.  She would’ve spat insults and fought at him until he’d fought her stubbornness with his own, insisted she “couldn’t possibly” get to those hard-to-reach areas, made her want his hands roaming down, exploring...
She grimaced and forced her mind back into reality.  She already was cursing herself internally, as he no doubt could scent the path her mind had taken, despite her burning face being mostly buried in her blanket and sheet.  It wasn’t that simple anymore, though. As much as her body had craved his touch from the thought, she also knew the other side of it, the power that would leak out from that contact, the loss of control it could cause, the damage she could do to him, to herself.  She opened her eyes wider, her headache slightly dissipated, and was surprised to find his expression hadn’t changed.  She struggled to speak, but managed to force out a single word.
“No.”
The word came out soft, but laced with venom.  It was perhaps harsher than she wanted, but it was necessary, she thought, as–
“I wasn’t offering.”  His countenance stayed stoic as he stood up from her bed, brushing his leathers off as he walked to her door, turning his head slightly to look at her as he hovered his hand against the wood.  “I don’t have time today; I’m already behind schedule as is.  Besides, you’re going to have to learn to help yourself eventually, and this will be a good start.”  Nesta huffed at his impertinence, but she tightly held his eye contact, even as her tightened neck protested at the awkward angle.  She wouldn’t back down from him ever, no matter how he spoke to her.  ...No matter if his emotionless voice caused a deeper part of her to match her muscles in agony.
His hand wobbled slightly on the door, then he averted her gaze as he finished speaking.  “Now, I have work to do; you’ve been asleep for several days, and I’ve had to postpone some things while waiting for you to wake. I’ll be back this evening to check on you.  Hopefully you can figure out how to apply a salve without my help in the meantime.”  She didn’t have an opportunity to respond before the wood of the door clicked in place, the handle turned to reduce its noise.  The sounds of the front door creaking open and shut resonated through the wooden floors moments later, and she sighed as she laid down carefully on her back and closed her eyes to dissect the morning’s events.
Nesta laid on the cottage’s couch, its shabbiness oddly comparable to the furniture in her Velaris apartment, and just...stared at this infernal kitchen that Cassian had apparently built.  Like the building around it, it was fairly makeshift, consisting of only a small stove and some basic cooking necessities.  But that was a much more minor issue compared to her self-revelation that cooking was much more difficult than her servants had made it seem back in the human realm.  She’d eventually stopped trying, mostly out of a wish not to destroy all of the cookware in the house, but it was still infuriating that such a simple task evaded her.
She rolled on her stomach in annoyance as her stomach grumbled, well aware that she would have to find some way to coax food out of Cassian, even as she barely wanted to speak with him.  Though...there were positives to this forced scenario of hers, as it gave her an excuse to find out how she ended up here and what had occurred in the last few days.  She dropped her face into the torn cushion beneath her, exhausted.
You’ve been asleep for several days.  Cassian’s comment flickered through her mind as it had dozens of times that afternoon.  How could anyone, let alone her, sleep that long, and how was it possible that she didn’t dream during that time, considering she’d had near-nightly nightmares for months with only a few hours’ rest?  It seemed impossible.
Though...her body certainly backed up his claims.  Not only was her stomach now betraying her, but to be so wound up that a mixture of his scent and a mere balm had disrupted her concentration a few hours prior...she groaned and rose her head, narrowing her eyes in the general direction of the kitchen. She’d at least been able to deal with that herself. There was nothing she was going to be able to do about her hunger without knowing how to use his blasted stove; it was likely going to force her to leave the house soon, with or without being able to interrogate Cassian.
Loudly grumbling, she stood up, wincing at the sudden pain shooting through her legs and latching onto the back of the couch until her nerves dampened.  At least the salve had worked just as well as he had claimed it would.  Her muscles still tensed and locked, but she could largely move around with relatively minor pain, something she couldn’t have imagined this morning.  Her newfound mobility had allowed her to mostly scope out this dwelling she found herself staying in, though the steep stairs still eluded her.
Cassian’s cabin was a small house, made up of a single bedroom that she safely assumed was his, a large drawing room with a built-in kitchen, and her room, which looked to have been hastily fashioned from a former study, all on the first floor.  The only bathroom seemed to be attached to Cassian’s bedroom, which...could definitely pose a problem, but that was something to be worried about at a later point. The second floor, which looked to be significantly more compact, appeared to be fairly unused from what she could witness from the ground level, though she planned to fully explore the area once her pain subsided completely.
Having determined she’d waited a satisfactory time to walk, she tested her legs without the support of the couch.  They lightly burned in protest, but...they’d probably be fine enough to at least assess her location from outside and see if she was around any kind of civilization.  She certainly couldn’t hear anyone from inside, which was a pleasant surprise as, to be honest, she was worried about the wisdom of moving inside the camps themselves after her encounter with Devlon.
She walked to where she’d earlier found her shoes, jacket, and scarf, putting them on as gently as possible to combat her body’s resistance, and opened the front door, eyes widening at the sight before her.  Illyrians took up her entire vision: sparring in rings, running around on their evening errands, children rolling around in play...it appeared Cassian had taken her to this village after all. Yet...even as she stood at what looked to be the center of this village, there was no sound, no noise, like someone was...muting the world.
Her thoughts were suspended as she sensed him arriving a moment later, the air from his wings drawing a quick air current into the cabin.  She pinched her forehead with her fingers in annoyance before eyeing his landing a few feet away, rolling her eyes at the amount of snow he’d kicked up.  She caught a breath and blinked.
Snow.
She was fairly certain the camps were still in Night Court territory, but all the buildings and the ground were coated in the soft, white powder, as if it was deep into the winter season and not still full in the lushness of autumn. They must have climbed a much higher altitude than she’d realized.
There was almost a...serene feeling about the view, the undisturbed snow on the rooftops and wells creating a calmness to counteract the rapid behavior of the Illyrians living their lives around them. Her awe was short-lived, however, as the Illyrian male filled up her vision, pushing past her into the same, tiny foyer.  She crossed her arms and spun to him, earning a tired glance back.  He spoke first – whether out of pride for this village or to prevent a fight before it could begin, she didn’t know – and gestured vaguely through the front door behind her.
“Like it?”  He gave a soft, tired smile as he kicked off his boots and took off his jacket.  She didn’t bother with a response, her eyes shifting back to the view outside instead.  “If you’re wondering about the sound, Rhys put a permanent barrier on this house – otherwise, it can be hard to sleep as Illyrians will train at all hours of the night.  The noise doesn’t really bother me, but he insisted my future guests might not share the same...apathy.  If you’re worried about someone breaking in, don’t be.  It’s enchanted so that I can still be able to hear any noises out of the ordinary.”
He reached over her head, earning a look of scorn in exchange, and pushed the door shut as he spared her one last, quick glimpse of disbelief.  “Speaking of outside, though, I’d hope you weren’t planning on going out tonight.  I mean...I won’t stop you, but they’re not exactly thrilled about your presence.  You might want to wait a day or two before attempting another one of your...grand entrances.”  He flashed her a mocking grin, more reserved than usual but setting her blood ablaze all the same.  She decided to respond in kind, acerbity dripping from her words.
“Well, I wasn’t originally planning on it, but a certain bastard declined to leave me a single morsel of food to eat.”  Her hands dropped to her hips, and her eyes narrowed.  “It was either explore the town or wait for you to get back at who-knows-what gods-forsaken hour of the night.”
He raised his eyebrows at her tone, then craned his head around the entryway to the piles of pots and failed dishes in the kitchen before leaning his head back and, to Nesta’s great irritation, echoing a booming laugh through the small cabin.  Her fade reddened, and she cut him off.
“And what, pray tell, is so funny about me starving for the whole day?”
“Apologies.” He gave her a mocking wink to let her know his words were anything but, and she crossed her arms and straightened her back in obstinance.  “Do you really not know how to cook?”
“I–” Her face burned further, and her words caught in her mouth as a grin once again lit up his face.  She exhaled in irritation and quickly recovered, closing her eyes in contempt.  “I’ve never found the need to learn.”  It wasn’t strictly true, but...she pushed that thought away before it brought with it its accompanying poor memories.  She looked back up at Cassian, his grin now almost back to his previous laugh, and pushed past him.  “I’m glad you can find such entertainment in something so stupid.  I’ll be in my room; let me know when dinner is ready.”
“Woah, woah.”
She sighed as he caught her wrist, pings of electricity shooting up her arm from his touch. She side-eyed him with that look that let him know he was playing with danger, but...she let him tug her back a short distance before yanking her hand from his grip.  And she doubted this small fact escaped his attention.  She reluctantly turned towards him as he entered the kitchen from the other side of the wooden island, raising an eyebrow at her in challenge.
“I was just surprised and messing with you.  Come on.”  He flipped one of the few pots that had survived her wake in his hands, and beamed at her with his usual arrogance. “I’ll teach you how.”
“I think I’d rather starve,” she deadpanned as she leaned against the island.  But she quickly lost this round, going back and forth a few more times before finally giving in after he promised he’d eat both of their portions otherwise.
She looked up at him, concentration lining his brow as he prepared the ingredients, a smirk lining his face as she rolled her eyes at one of his stupid jokes.  Being around him...it wasn’t as hard as she’d imagined, as she’d feared all those months in Velaris.  Even after she’d shunned him for over a year, he was still working with her, sticking by her.  She didn’t deserve him.
Though he could certainly work on giving instructions, as he kept meandering on and on about unnecessary details.  She felt a tug from the back of her mind at his voice, and she closed her eyes as he droned on, letting it drift her back into her memories...
“And what do you suppose this monstrosity is?”  Nesta walked up to the campfire Cassian had set up, a giant slate of meat suspended above it.  He met her eyes and grinned.
“Boarhide.” Nausea rippled through her, and he laughed, gesturing towards a fully-stocked plate on his other side.  “Relax, I made you a meal far more fit for your...delicate, female tastes.”  He winked at her as he dragged out every word, and the entire campsite heard her disdain as she crossed behind him to her plate.
“Delicate?” She eyed him out of the corner of her vision as she sat down beside him.  “I wasn’t aware that Illyrians brought delicate females to battle with them.”
“They do when said female can bring a thousand males to their knees without drawing a blade.”  She shielded a satisfied smirk at his comments with a bite of her food, and he continued, his voice losing its playful touch.  “Do you...are you still...sure...this is what you want?  We don’t know what could happen tomorrow, what could happen after.”  His voice lowered.  “If there even is an after for either of us.”
Her eyes cut back to him, his stare boring into her, and she nodded. “Whatever happens tomorrow with Hybern...this is our best chance at making it through alive.”  She thought about Feyre and Elain, what the consequences of failure would be, and shook her head.  “You can’t change my decision.”
He sat there softly, the two of them in quiet solace, then pulled her tightly into his chest, laughing at her half-hearted protests.  She leaned her head into his body, syncing her breathing with his, and watched his other arm move to pull her in closer.
That’s when she first noticed it.
It started as a blip on his arm, but it slowly began pushing its black tendrils out, dripping up his veins and expanding outward like a net. She jumped up in alarm, pushing his body off as she reached out for his arm.
And stuck her hand in the campfire instead.
Pain seared through her left hand as she stumbled backwards, Cassian managing to catch her as she lost balance.  She grabbed his right arm tightly to stop the rapid expansion of the black lines, to help him as it...
She stopped in place.  The only black ink that lined his arms were his familiar tattoos; the only erratic movement was hers.  Her breathing was wild as she observed her surroundings, remembered the cabin, remembered what she was doing, tried to settle down.  She pushed back against the island to stabilize herself and cursed at the sudden shock of pain that shot through her hand. Cassian frowned as he gently pulled his arm away to continue soaking the cold cloth she had pulled him away from and pressed it against her hand.  The icy touch sparked another round of obscenities, and she shoved Cassian back, earning a sharp rebuke in the process.
“You put your hand in the gas.  You need to be caref–”
“I don’t need anything from you.”  She took several steps away from him, eyes like daggers aimed squarely at his chest.  To her dismay, the memories of that campfire began flooding back: the panic, the pain...she clenched her eyes shut and backed away further as she shoved the cloth harder against her hand. His voice was shaking as he stepped softly towards her, reaching one hand gently out towards her.
“Nesta, I...”
His expression was crushing her; she needed to get away from this, from him, now.  She turned away from him in dismissal.  “Forget it. Just let me know when dinner is ready.”
“Wait.” She was almost to her doorway when she heard him call to her from behind.  Her instincts stopped her in place, back still turned, and she heard him sigh, before reluctantly continuing to speak.  “I’m gone nearly all day every day, sometimes for days at a time.  You’re not going to be able to survive without knowing how to cook at least a little. So unless youre planning on attending all of my work with me, I don’t care how you learn, but...”
Her hand rested softly on her door handle as she closed the door and cut off his remarks, a dark silence swallowing the rest of his words.  She sat down in front of the door, holding tightly to her burnt hand, trembling against the wood behind her.  She knew she needed to learn, needed to fend for herself in this city, but...reliving that moment had destroyed her.  The sheer terror pouring through her body...she knew she couldn’t handle anymore tonight.  She’d barely be able to handle herself as is. She took a deep breath and called through the door.
“I guess I’ll just starve, then.”
He didn’t respond.  But when the knock for dinner came later that night, she found her meal, a note attached to it, placed next to her door and Cassian nowhere in sight.
5 A.M.  Be up.

Stepmom. Bonus mom. They call me GoGo.
I found myself here by accident... a happy accident. But being a full time stepmom was not something I exactly planned.
When we started dating they’d been separated 9 months and were 6 months into the divorce process. J had just filed a move away request to relocate with their 2 year old son to Hawaii where her boyfriend lived.
Dating man who’s just ended a 10 year relationship, has a toddler and is in the middle of a divorce and custody battle? Where do I sign up?!
A rational person would do a hard 180 and run away!! Less than a year out of a marriage, a 10 year marriage, is WAY too soon... right? (I still think it was too soon for him but I’m not sure waiting 6 months or even a year would have made much difference.) I had a pretty short conversation with myself and it went something like: “Okay GoGo he’s got a kid- if you’re in you have to be ALL in because this relationship goes south it affects an impressionable little boy who needs consistency right now- not more upheaval. Got it? (Yes ma’am.) Also, they have joint custody NOW but things change- life’s unpredictable- what if his ex dies and he becomes a full time dad? If you go into this relationship you go ALL in- eyes and heart open to all the possible futures. (Okay.) Finally, GoGo, just know you will probably have to step up in unexpected ways so... be ready!”
Taking care of another human being is exhausting. I love kids and can list all the adjectives on how great and rewarding children are but let’s not sugar coat this caregivign business it’s work and it’s hard work. I was a nanny for 5 years so I watched kids for maybe  6-8 hours a day and THAT was exhausting. Being a parent means that as soon as you wak up your on, then you drop your kid off at daycare and go to work when you get home, time to be a parent. You don’t have any down time. Ever. You basically don’t get to sleep until maybe they’re 5 years old.
So, I went in prepared for the unexpected. About a year into our relationship R and I were talking about moving in together and then  J’s move away request was denied so things seemed to be settling back to the old 2/2/3 custody schedule.
Then J surprised everyone and decided to move to Hawaii without P. That was a rough day.
She moved. She chose to move. Bottom line.
That’s why we’re dealing with what we’re dealing with. It’s a situation that was created by her actions and make significantly more difficult becuase of her behavior. It’s easy to get hung up and distracted by other details but it really comes back to that. Because if she had made the decision to move and owned that decision as a choice she made and been supportive of R who was now the primary parent, and done everything in her power to make the transition easier on her son and on R then that would have been another story. That would have been a very short blog. But she didn’t do that. She moved and she made it everyone else’s problem. She behaves as though this is a situation that she’s forced into. The solution to any conflict is that P move to Hawaii. She has no desire to make transitions easier for her son because when they are distressing for him, when he’s an emotional trainwreck it reinforces her belief that he needs her more than he needs his father. That he loves her more than he loves his father.
She moved. She could have stayed. She chose to move. Bottom line.
This arrangement is expensive and requires a lot of long travel (I’m not arguing that- this arrangement doesn’t seem sustainable long term but it’s her money). She is very vocal about what an inconvenience this all is, she is the victim, she has to make all the sacrifices, how she does everything for her son.
That’s her logic. Poor her. What a dedicated mother. Um yeah... sort of. But this is completely self created. If she haven’t moved she wouldn’t have to do any of this... If she she still lived here she’d get to see her son every few days and she wouldn’t have to travel every month. She would only need one apartment!
Instead of moving she could have gone to visit her boyfriend one week every month. Or he could have moved here!
She claims her move was financially motivated because SF is so expensive but her logic is SO flawed. True SF is expensive... but so is Hawaii. It’s not like she’d moved to Sacramento or Santa Rosa or even San Jose- that would have saved her money because rent is significantly cheaper and she would have been a 45 min drive away. That would have made sense. No, to “save money” she moved to Hawaii where she earns 30% less and in addition to paying for all her living expenses in Hawaii she also spends about $40K per year on an SF apartment and flights back and forth to visit her son. Which is commendable, I’m glad she’s able to visit him so frequently, but it’s hardly saving money.
In her mind she had to move. That’s what she’s told herself and she’s always coming up with explanations and excuses for how it wasn’t a choice so all the struggles are beyond her control... First she said she was moving was because rent was cheaper in Hawaii. Then she sort of dropped that (probably because no one was buying her claim that renting two apartments and flying back and forth to SF every month was less expensive than just renting one apartment in SF and not traveling) so she switched tactics. She had to move for “some reason”... but don’t focus on that- she is now the dedicated mother who sacrifices so much so she can see her son every month.
I’m not sure when or why but at some point her narrative evolved. It wasn’t enough that she was dedicated and sacrificing- how she’s also a victim. Now the lies really start. She’d lied before, many times, but this has become her persona.
Dedicated mom who’s ex is dragging her through court trying to get full custody of their son- she’s under so much stress! But she’s won’t quit fighting- she loves her son. Her ex is a monster and he’s always trying to prevent her from seeing her son and refuses to be flexible if she needs to change the schedule. And when her son is with her, her ex constantly wants to FaceTime their son and he emails her constantly and and harasses her!!
She moved there because her boyfriend lived there. Not because rent is cheaper.
She doesn’t have family in Hawii and neither does her boyfriend, all of their family and extended family lives in the midwest or East Coast.
We had met once before and I’d talked to her at a few functions but most of what I knew about her was throuh R. But she wanted to meet to talk about her move. I’d been observing her brand of crazy for over a year so I kind of new what to expect and mentally prepared myself for her to throw some twisted logic at me. I knew she’d be on her best behavior and would try to charm me- she wanted me to be her ally. We were gonna be like the lady version of Lennie Kravitz and Jason Whatever his face is... Aquaman. What I hadn’t prepared for was just how charming she would be; how convincing she would be. Damn, she is GOOD. Do you want to be Lennie or should I? You’re super styly, I think you should be him... but I’m Black so maybe it should be me?! Omg, I can’t decide. You’re so pretty, let’s braid each other’s hair!!
To hear her explain her reasons for moving she sounds very logical and rational- struggling mom who wants the best for her son. She was not the victem with me. Not at all. Strong woman has her shit together. Fully aware of the choice she’s making and she’s saying all the right things but the logic is wrong... or at least deeply flawed.
She was actually the first person to call me stepmom. I’m guessing she doesn’t remember that part of the conversation and if she does she’d probably deny it. Or maybe not- she’s unpredictable always keeping me on my toes. But let me tell you when the mother of youre boyfriend’s child meets with you and says “You’re going to be there every day, you’re stepping into the day to day “mom rol”e basically- I’m mean you’ll be his stepmom”. You REMEMBER that shit. My proverbial jaw hit the floor. SHE just called ME the stepmom. I had so many thoughts flash through my brain:
Did she just call me stepmom? Did that actually just happen?! It did! I’ve been toying around with that title with my friends because if I’m parenting every day I don’t really want to introduct myself as “P’s dad’s girlfriend”. But no way in Hell was I going to say it in front of her or bring that up today!! But SHE just said it... Okay, maybe this will go more smoothly than I thought. She seems to have a pretty clear understanding of the role I’ll be talking with HER child and seems okay with that (somehow).  If roles were reversed and I was taking to the woman who was going to be living with my child full time... I do not think I would be using that word also I would be sobbing. Stepmom. I need to tell Ramon. How is she moving? Is this really happening?
I honestly didn’t believe she was really moving until she got in the Uber to the airport.
All I can say is thank the gods I spent so much of my youth babysitting and was a nanny for 5 years because I had a pretty clear expectation for exactly how exhausting and mentally taxing being with a child 23/7 would be. Granted I’d never actually done it but I had a pretty clear idea what I was getting into. And since I hadn’t imagined this utopia it actually went really well. Like not many surprises. It was definitely more of an adjustment living with Rthan it was living with a kid.
What a difference 3 years makes. Well 2 years and 5 months really.
--
I’ve started this blog/glorified online journal as a way to make sense of the shit beyond my control.
I’m not sure where to start... I guess it started when we met. R was 8 months out of a 10 year long relationship (8 year marriage) when we connected. He’d filed for divorce about 6 months prior and his ex had just filed a move-away request to relocate to Hawaii where her new boyfriend lived.
Here’s this incredible person that I’m falling in love with. And he’s a loving, affectionate and dedicated father who is also massively stressed out. His ex is trying to relocate with their son and she has a very expensive and aggressive attorney and she’s made it very clear she has a lot of money to throw at this to make sure she gets her way.
I guess I thought, I’m not an attorney so I can’t help R with all this legal stuff but I do know kids. I’m really good with kids. He’s a good parent parent, and this kid has a mother but both his parents are distracted and what this kids needs is an advocate. Someone not distracted by all their emotional shit and focused on him. So how can I help this kid?
So I started reading books. Books on child psychology, books on divorce, books on parenting, books on co-parenting... books on Hugge. After a bunch of books on high conflict parenting realized we were in different territory and so I started reading books on  narcissm, passive agression, cognitive dissonance, toxic personalities anything I could get my hands on. (Thank you SF Public Library!!).
I’m the reader and I was trying to suss out what we were dealing with by reading the entire self help section of the library. R doesn’t read self help but he did seem to have good intuition about people. He was the one who kept around terms like narcissist, bi-polar and borderline personality. I looked up the actual definitions and I wasn’t comfortable using those terms. I’m still not.
Labels just make me uncomfortable. But I did and still do believe that J has some very concerning behaviors and that she can be very toxic. Also, although she appears impulsive and random her behavior has patterns- we’re defnitely playing a long game.
Also, I should mention that that when R first started using those labels was actually a red flag for me. Maybe he was the projecting- that’s what manipulative people do. Maybe HE was the bi-polar borderline narcissist, not her- so I was on high alert for any behavior or indication from him that seemed off.
I read about Parental Alienation Syndrom and I laser focused on that (I’ve since learned that a more approripate term is DV by Proxy). Regardless, R poopoo’d it- she wasn’t going to try to brainwash their son- she’s couldn’t they had a great relationship. Okay, let’s agree to disagree- hope you’re right (I really do) but just in case I’m gonna try to make sure this kid knows how to think for himself and what that feels like and how to recognize if someone is trying to tell him how to think or feel. Basically if she’s not trying to brainwash him then, great, he’ll be prepared if someone else tries. But if she is gonna try she’s going to have an uphill battle.
I just started reading this book but I think it really encapsulates my motivation and what I’m trying to instill:
“Your passivity was demanded to make that relationship work. Your recovery is living in the opposite spirit of being brow beaten to looking down at the ground. Your healing is about standing up tall, looking people in the eyes and calmly saying: I have my own opinions and I am okay if you disagree.” (Healing From a hidden Abuse, Shannon Thomas LCSW)
I do lots of role play lots of modeling behavior. I feel silly doing it but it does seem to resonate with him. The Whole Brained Child suggested adding “to me” to statements and that really resonated with me. I told R and he was on board- we started doing this right after we moved in together so P had just turned 4.
Instead of saying: It’s cold outside.
We said: It’s cold outside to me. Is it cold outside to you?
Or a variation:
Chocolate ice cream is my favorite. What’s your favorite?
(If we agree, great- we’re the same (this time). If we disagree then that’s another learning moment.) Oh, your favorite is strawberry? Is that okay that we have different favorites? Yeah, that’s okay. Can we still be friends even though we like different things? Yeah we can.
(I think it’s normal and natural to be attracted to people with whom you have things in common. I’m not trying to deny that or change that. So I point out things we have in common (which is natural and easy to do) and I also make a conscious effort to point out differences like when his dad and I don’t like the same movie or when I like different foods than my friends.
The last one is what’s your favorite TODAY? I’m not sure where this came from either. Whatever we’re talking about the idea is that a favorite is just today, of course he can have the sand favorite the next day... or not. He can change his mind and that’s allowed and okay.
The other thing is if he asks me a question I try not to just answer him and instead ask “Hmm, what do you think?” If his answer is “I don’t know” I might probe a bit more to see
So focusing on the behavior.
First the words
He came back from his summer in Hawaii and we knew it would take a few days to adjust. He’s a pretty mellow kid, of course he has meltdowns occassionally but usually we can talk through things. But he came back angry. Screaming. It was a drastic departure from the child who’d left to go to Hawaii. Why did dad talk to the judge and make him come home early? He wanted to be with his mom. He didn’t want to be in San Francisco because there was Covid and everyone was dying in California.
He’s 6- he gets his infomration from his parents and in this case his mother. She told him that the judge made him come home early. She told him that his home California is dangerous.
She should NOT be discussing court issues with their son. Period. Just keep him out of it.
Second, I understand that you want your kid to live wiht you in Hawaii but the reality is he lives in California so HELP him live there. Stop scaring him and making him afraid of his home. It’s very concerning that the reason he wants to be in Hawaii is because there isnt’ covid there and he doesn’t have to wear a mask or socially distance. Um... actually yes you do.
So then that brings us to blatent lies.
So this year it’s been: What’s the diffference betwen an opinion and a fact. And then we give lots of examples. When we’re talking we point out examples. It’s really warm today. That’s an opinion- the fact is that it’s 65 degrees.
He’s a bright kid and he’s a reader. I encourage him to ask questions and even look things up on the internet. Just because I say it’s true doesn’t mean it is.
He threw up and had body aches we got him a covid test. He was negative. Ra texted her the result. Later that day P as doing FT with his mom in the other room and I hear her say  “Oh, well I didn’t think you had it. Throwing up is like the least common symptom”. So then he came into our bedroom an asked me “Hey is it true that vomiting is the least likely covid symptom?”.
Dammit. During FaceTime?? I should have thought this through better. Not that I’m going to say anything different but she can hear my and I can just imagine her rolling her eyes in the background.
So, what do I say? Because I know vomiting is one of the main symptoms on the CDC website AND vomiting was the only symptom our neighbor’s 6 year old daughter had when she had COVID. But I didn’t say that... instead I said “You know, I’m not sure. Why don’t we look it up later on the internet and see what Dr. Fauci says about it.” In your face!

Top 3 Fictional Universes I Wanna Join: oh BOYO... I have some contenders for this. first up would probably be Dream Land or Planet Pop Star in general? this should probably be higher because Kirby is my favorite thing, but ehhh.
next up is Pokémon, any region, I really don't care. everything about that universe is better than ours, as stated in many posts and analyses, I don't need to go over all of it. I just want to,, be a trainer,,,
and finally, the one I most want to join, not a surprise at all: homestuck. or, more specifically, literally just our universe but sburb exists and I get to play. destroying this universe and my completely worthless life in order to actually matter in something, that's what I want to do most. the chance to become an actual god, to perform heroic feats impossible in any other way, to meet up with up to 11 other online friends of mine- really, it's the best thing that could ever happen to me, even if the session turns out to be doomed to fail.

                                        — On the wicked wings of time, thy kingdom comes
Meet [ Park Chaeyoung ]
She is a [ twenty-four ] year old  [ bartender at allure nightclub ] currently residing in [ skyhall apartments, #603 ].Visit  and greet  her today!
Personality:
Rose is an optimistic realist. She understands the world, is not afraid to take it head on, but also keeps a bright outlook on life. Because of her quite oppressive past she has become a natural-born rebel, a firm prejudice against rules, and a celebrator of breaking them. She is not someone who does not ultimately appreciate authority, do not mistake her for that, she just simply craves freedom and yearns for the chance to prove herself among the “sheep” of the world. An extrovert at heart, she prides herself in her ability of making friends easily and quickly, and couldn’t imagine herself living a recluse. Now, not everything about Rose is fun and games. With her tendency to break rules, she isn’t exactly a fan of “thinking ahead” as such, and rather, finds herself in all amounts of trouble.
Spirit: Hermes
Power: Wing Manifestation
As the embodiment of Hermes, the god of travel and communication, Rose was born with the ability to fly thanks to the help of two large angel-white wings on her back. These wings are very large, with Rose standing at 6’0 and the wingspan being at nine feet. To help move these wings, Rose has a slightly different anatomy than a normal human being, that being she is very tall to allow more room for stronger muscles than that of a regular human and that she has a larger heart and lungs. These muscles, located both in her chest and on her back, not only allow her to actually fly, but also help her to breath faster and intake more oxygen to turn into energy, allowing her to fly for long periods of time. Unfortunately, the only downside to this is the wing’s actual size, and the fact that they are not indestructible and can be injured and broken just like any other limb. Not wanting to cause too much of a mess, Rose wears heavily compressed clothing and jackets (especially around her ribcage area) and binds her wings to her back with specially made black belts. Together with the two holding her wings back, Rose is able to continue with daily activities without so much as a weary glance at the slight bump on her back.
Biography:
Rose was born to a very rich upper class family, an icon in the city of Incheon, and a highly influential one at that. She was a star-baby; up until her birth she was the talk of the town, mainly around her father’s partners and clients. Everyone wanted to see the new baby girl, the one who would carry on her parent’s name as she grew older.
Unfortunately, after her birth no one outside of the family was ever allowed to see her.
When she was born, two things were immediately noticed as being abnormal and wrong. Unlike other babies, Rose was very large yet lean, and on top of that two small yet noticeable bumps were found parallel to each other on her back area. Her parents were very worried, but doctors assured them that nothing was wrong and it was probably just a bone anomaly and it would not hurt her. Despite this, the parents did not want their only child to be seen as “defective” in the public eye, and so she was whisked away to their large mansion where she was kept under lock and key.
By age 5 the “bumps” had grown to be about a foot long, and by age seven small pale feathers had begun to sprout. Her parents knew of this, of course, but were too worried to do anything for fear of losing their upstanding reputation, and so they let her be. By age ten, though, it began to become a significant problem as the wings were now covered in feathers and had grown to about half Rose’s body weight. Her parents would come home occasionally to find Rose leaping off the grand staircase rail, flapping her wings in a crazy manner, only to fall to the ground like an embodiment of Icarus.
They were terrified.
Counseling with themselves, they decided that if she learned to fly she could leave and then the entire of South Korea would know of the defective girl and her horrible parents. They were hesitant in their decision of the matter, but with both their reputation and power at stake, they decided to invest their money in keeping Rose as far away as possible.
Effective almost immediately, Rose was whisked away once more to another mansion her family owned by Incheon but not in it, where she was forced to live alone save for the hired staff that came and took care of the house for her. She had no friends, no one really to talk to except the occasional chat she had with the maids, but even they were under influential rules to not speak to Rose except in an emergency. The staff were the only links she had to society; her mother, father, and everyone else in the world had seemingly continued on with life, completely forgetting about her.
She was lonely, that being an understatement. The amount of times she found herself staring at the clock, watching the hours tick by as a simple pastime, was more than she could count. Her basic schedule consisted of sleeping, eating, and figuring out how to fly. As the years went by, Rose began to become more aware of her wings and how they worked, specifically the mechanics of proper flight. She found herself breaking the restriction rules by taking frequent visits to the upper 5-story balconies, practicing by jumping into either makeshift trampolines or the pool. At first she was a bit hesitant, actually trying to fly from that height was different than jumping off a stairway, but after constantly working on it eventually she began to grow stronger and before she knew it she was able to fly from one end of the 2-acre yard to the other.
But then she made a mistake one day. Accidentally misjudging where she was going to land, Rose ended up in the neighbor’s property with no way out except the front gate. She was absolutely terrified, and when she tried to make a run for it back to her house, pedestrians were able to watch as she sprinted down the sidewalk, two large white wings bouncing behind her. She made it back to her home in time, but from that day forward she was then known to the world, and some were more inquisitive than others about her “gift” as they called it. People would be found outside the property gates, some taking photos and others just hoping to catch a glimpse of the “Woman With Wings”. Rose was generally unsure about the entire situation, clearly uncomfortable but she couldn’t just get up and leave. Her parents, on the other hand, had been hit harder by the entire incident. Her father’s clients were now more curious about her than actual business, and they were viewed with suspicion and mocking wherever they went. Still, Rose being Rose, she didn’t want her parent’s entire life to be ruined. Because of this, she decided to pack up and sneak away from society’s eyes. She was able to create makeshift binds and wore tight clothing in order to hide her wings so that on the night she left she was able to hide easily and not be viewed with suspicion. It was a bit painful, to say the least, but she was able to muffle her discomfort and along with a bag full of necessities and money, hailed a train to the capital, Seoul, where she was met with an entirely new world.
She spent her first few days on the streets while trying to find a suitable place to live, but eventually found a very high-level condo to call home. Being the little sneak she is, Rose was able to steal her parent’s bank information and used that to pay for her rent and other living arrangements, saving the money she took for food and such. After searching for a good few days, she ended up finding a suitable job at Allure Nightclub as a waitress, where her experience with customers would help integrate her better into the society she had been away from for so long. Nowadays, Rose is a master of hiding both herself and her powers when needed, a simple girl with a slight deformity to some, and to others a magnificent angel from heaven.
Time spent alone in Seoul allowed for Rose to recount her past. Specifically, she began wondering exactly how she had ended up with wings in the first place. Nobody in her parent’s family had ever been diagnosed with this, nor had she been physically augmented. Because of this Rose had begun to wonder if there was some spiritual part to it rather. Her family itself was Christian, but Rose (being brought up away from interaction) had never really been integrated into the religion aspect of life and thus didn’t really think much about it. She did wonder, however, if maybe God was the cause of it all but for Rose it honestly made no sense because angels are not “technically” people and she’d probably not be wandering around earth at this time is she was one. And then out of a bit of curious research, she came to wonder about the existence of the Greek gods, and a specific god at that. Hermes had caught her eye. He was described as having winged sandals to help him fly (flag!), but also had an extremely similar personality to that being described as Rose’s (major flag!). After a bit of study, Rose began to officially wonder if that little voice in her head was anything but her imagination, and whether or not Hermes had indeed taken an embodiment interest in her.

Hey Everyone,
Back to our Free Marketeers! On one hand I would judge this character’s leisure activities, on the other hand, entertainment is hard to come by in a war zone. People develop some strange hobbies.
As for our last page with Volteza. Some have expressed their concern that we went a little overboard with the shadows and creative lighting in that scene. It’s possible and we may go back and tone that down a little when we get some free time. I’m a sucker for dramatic lighting so I might have been the one to push Matt to draw the scene that way. For what it’s worth though, I agree with Volteza. Nuclear power is the necessary future of energy production, there’s nothing else out there with the energy density and consistency. Will reactors sometimes kill people? Probably, but the coal industry already kills over 1 million a year globally in our world. That’s worse than Chernobyl, the worst nuclear energy incident we’ve ever had.
Also, some of our more insightful readers noticed that the MLaW-verse might not be so inclined towards nuclear energy due to events in their past. Let’s just say it’s all related to the Impossible Wars.
Thanks for reading,
– Luther out
Comment Text Follows:
killercow - Yeah, I’d get pretty bored sitting in a tiny little gun turret for hours on end too.
Deoxy - It may also be a gun turret, but he seems to have used the grapple that they catch pilot pods with. Some people have a problem with hunting for sport, but his superiors (and especially the limb pilots!) should have a problem with him abusing the equipment like that.
Iarei -  ” Failed to retrieve pilot : Grapple jammed with bird residue. “
Drace - Naah, I bet the pilots are happy that he gets as much practice as possible. And superiors probably don’t give a crap.
Jack McCrary - Lol. Nothing is as dangerous as a bored combatant.
Keith - Yes there is, said bored combatants NCO’s… “so, you’re bored are you? Well I’ve got something that will help with that. I’ve got a job right up your alley” IF you are lucky you’ll just get burn-out latrine duty. If you are not so lucky, well, it must suck to be you. I hate coming up with make work, which usually mean I come up with the most miserable chores for people.
B-sabre - Dude…not cool.
Sazuroi - Coal is dangerous as well, but if nuclear power was as widespread as coal, I wonder how many people would die from it and the side effects. Nuclear residue is also much harder to cope with, since nuclear material not normally inside the ecosystem, and hence, nothing has a good resistance against it, while burning coal is essentially not different from a forest fire or a volcano erupting, which most life is prepared to deal with, if not to this extent. While nuclear power may have some advantages on a small scale, I very much doubt it would retain them if used on the same scale as coal or fossil gas. A reminder: Today (numbers from 2012), there is a capacity (which is not used in full) of 3.28 Gigawatt hours of nuclear power in the world, and the electric energy consumption was 20.28 Gigawatt hours per year in 2008 (which would have grown considerably since 2012). Even without considering primary energy consumption which is much larger yet (say, for heating, which is usually done by burning gas, oil or coal directly instead of getting it from a specialized heating plant or even from a power plant as electricity), nuclear power today is a minor, though not neglegible part of all energy production, and it still has quite considerable effects which would be stronger the wider it is used, and they increase over time as the reactor fuel piles up, and genetic damages accrue, which can not ever be fixed. It should be noted, however, that burning coal also causes some such damages, since coal also contains radioactive coal isotopes, though in relatively small quantities. Nuclear power would, however, not improve that issue. I could also get started on the cost of either method, but in the end, both have glaring disadvantages which they can only justify with their energy density, efficiency and independence from outside factors compared to “clean” energy. (Which also causes environmental damage, but in a less extreme fashion. Wind Turbines have a slight whine to them which reduces the quality of sleep for people living near them, for example, and in masses they may also change the weather, but there are no studies about that yet) In the end, it’s always about controlling the damage while still improving the relative capability and maintaining higher population count and density.
Iarei -  Wind turbines also kill the shit out of some birds, just like this fellow here.
SteelRaven -  Think the big point was people are far more afraid of nuclear energy than coal in spite of the numbers proving it can be just as harmful (thank the pr people of the coal industry for that one) Nuclear energy will never be the ‘safe’ alternative but only thinking of it as ‘too dangerous’ is somewhat ignorant when the oil and coil industry has track record that’s just as bad.
Deoxy - Actually, you can mostly thank the environmentalists, as they are the ones who constantly vilify nuclear energy. To be fair, they vilify ALL sources of energy, really, even the ones they claim to like (windmills are unsightly and kill birds, hydro changes the local environment, etc, etc), so we’re stuck with whatever we already have built (which is, largely, coal – we’re getting some significant switchover to natural gas, though, which is good).
Iarei - That broad generalization is, as with most broad generalizations, largely incorrect. People that vocally oppose nuclear energy are a tiny fraction of the spectrum of people you would classify as ‘environmentalists’. This entire discussion is sooo ‘last-page’ anyway. We should be discussing this man’s taste in nude pinups and the lack of wisdom inherent in having a large open container of coffee in your cockpit.
SteelRaven -  Right, that coffee is going into his lap before the end of the chapter.
Grudgesettler - Chekhov’s caffeine? One has to wonder what kind of shift he’s working, between the mega mug and the No-Doze. Also, I may regret asking, but I imagine he doesn’t have scheduled bathroom breaks, and that’s a lot of coffee flooding his system, so what does he do when he has to go?
Deoxy - Fair enough – let me correct that and say “Actually, you can mostly thank the environmentalist activists and lobbyists“. I can appreciate that not all environmentalists are that dumb, but the lobbying and protests that try to hold back all forms of energy development are populated almost exclusively by a environmentalists. As to caffeine and no-doze, that kind of thing (stimulants) is extremely common, even today – the human mind does not do well with large blocks of high-attention boredom. The US Air Force is known to give stimulants to its pilots, for instance. There’s a reason people can fall asleep even when their life depends on it while they are driving, after all.
Zarpaulus - Also, nuclear generates so much power that there wouldn’t need to be as many power plants if coal were replaced.
Sazuroi - That’s not quite true, though a lot more coal is needed to generate the same amount of energy, the power plants themselves have about the same size, and the output isn’t too different. Nuclear power plants are, however, more costly to build and maintain. I conventiently found a table on that: http://www.eia.gov/forecasts/capitalcost/ Coal plants are cheaper per Kwh unless they use carbon capture technology (which supposedly eliminates the environmental issues, but I don’t know detailed studies on how well it works out, that carbondioxide typically has to be stored somewhere), but the fuel is cheaper. Overall, nuclear and coal power have very similar monetary costs, but nuclear fuel is relatively rare and of course, dangerous to handle, which creates secondary costs. As further reading, Wikipedia has a few more tables: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cost_of_electricity_by_source.
XRzer04 - NOT a good first impression. Four panels is all it took for me to really want to see this guy get fragged.

$25,000 Grand Prize Winner: Chelsea
Lost 41 lbs and 43 total inches!
Age: 34 years Weight Lost: 41 lbs (from 183 lbs to 142 lbs) Total Inches Lost: 43 inches (from 247 inches to 204 inches)
Chelsea wanted her old self back.
The person who could run without pain, who could compete in triathlons, and who felt… attractive.
In the past, Chelsea was fit and active. She was the captain of her high school tennis and basketball teams, and regularly competed in races and triathlons during University.
But approaching her mid-30s, Chelsea took stock. Somewhere along the way, things had changed. Injuries (and subsequent surgeries) had stopped her from doing the sports she loved.
With reduced physical activity — her go-to way to de-stress — food had become her source of comfort. Weight gain had followed.
With the added weight, even once her injuries had healed, Chelsea had a hard time running. “At best, I could only run-walk, and my back spasmed,” she explains.
It was clear to Chelsea that she needed to make changes, but as a busy lawyer working two jobs, it wasn’t easy to prioritize things like nutrition, stress management, or sleep.
“I felt a bit ‘lost at sea’ with myself, and I had no clear plan for where to go.”
She knew she needed some guidance. But she also knew it needed to be sane and sensible.
Chelsea has zero interest in “woo-woo” weight-loss secrets, diet crazes, or counting calories.
When it comes to health and fitness, Chelsea is, in her words, “skeptical”.
In fact, it’s her lawyer-like skepticism (paired some well-honed research skills) that led Chelsea to Precision Nutrition Coaching.
“I chose PN because it’s well-researched and science-based,” Chelsea explains. “As a lawyer, that’s important to me.”
When Chelsea signed up, she was excited. She appreciated the program’s structure and accountability. And the simplicity of some of the practices, like “eat to 80% full” helped her start improving her nutrition right off the bat.
In fact, very early in the program, Chelsea realized something important.
“Perfection” was not an option.
With her busy schedule, Chelsea couldn’t keep up with every lesson. In fact, at one point she was thrown right off course.
“About halfway through the program, I missed about 2-3 weeks of the daily lessons. I thought, ‘I’ve blown it, I can’t do this anymore, I’ve got so much on my plate with work’.”
Luckily, Coach Toni helped Chelsea keep moving forward. “With her encouragement, my focus became this: just continue to show up.”
Chelsea adds, “I learned that you don’t have to do absolutely everything in order to succeed. It doesn’t matter if you miss a habit. You just have to keep coming back.”
So that’s what she did.
As the months went by, things started to change.
Pounds fell off. Her mobility got better. And Chelsea started to run again — now, without pain or injury.
“During the summer, I completed two triathlons and two races, after not being able to do any for about three years. I was so proud of myself.”
Her relationship with food improved, and she now enjoys cooking dinner as a way to unwind at the end of the day.
“I’m just really happy,” she says. “My mental outlook is really good.”
Chelsea had once imagined running along a beautiful beach, feeling fit and confident.
In Precision Nutrition Coaching, there’s a lesson that asks you to imagine a ‘destination postcard’ — a picture in your mind of where you want to be at the end of the program.
Chelsea envisioned herself running on a beach.
She decided to schedule a trip to Hawaii for the end of the program. She booked it months in advance, and thinking about it became a daily source of motivation.
When the vacation came, it was every bit as good as she had imagined. There she was, on the beach, running, feeling awesome and attractive. The trip also included a last-minute travel companion — her new boyfriend, whom she started dating during the past year.
Her destination had arrived.
Her advice for others who have their own “destination” they want to get to?
“Don’t do be concerned with doing things perfectly. Just keep showing up.”

$25,000 Grand Prize Winner: Derek
Lost 41 lbs and 18 total inches!
Age: 37 years Weight Lost: 41 lbs (from 188 lbs to 147 lbs) Total Inches Lost: 18 inches (from 229 inches to 211 inches)
Derek already “knew what to do”.
A former athlete who’s competed in wrestling, boxing, and MMA, Derek had plenty of experience staying fit: Count calories, pay attention to macros, work out enough, and his weight would get to where he wanted it to be.
But at 38, Derek’s daily life had started to make his fit-and-healthy athlete days feel like a distant memory. The father of three leaves for his demanding job as a pipeline inspector at 3:30 in the morning, not to return until 5:30pm. In addition, he’s dealt with six knee surgeries, arthritis, and chronic pain.
For years, Derek let these challenges be “a good excuse to just eat food and watch TV.”
“On the drive home, I’d tell myself I’d workout when I got home. But the moment I stepped through the front door, I would have already given up,” Derek recalls.
If he really wanted to lose weight for a special occasion or holiday, Derek could do it… temporarily.
“I’d cut calories and work out more, but then I’d just gain the weight right back. It was embarrassing.”
One day, Derek looked at a health app he’d been using to log his weight for years. In one chart, he saw his whole weight loss history. It looked like a rollercoaster.
“I knew I needed accountability, consistency, and sustainability.”
Derek had been following Precision Nutrition for a while, and got a lot out of the free information and resources.
Still, Derek couldn’t help feeling like he already knew everything that Precision Nutrition Coaching could possibly teach him. Could he put his own preconceived notions on the shelf and trust the PN approach?
He decided to go for it. “I thought, who knows, I just might learn something.”
Derek didn’t expect what happened next.
“I learned, and re-learned, the fundamentals of health and fitness, in a way that really changed me,” says Derek.
For example, he once would have considered basics like ‘eating slowly until satisfied, not stuffed’ too rudimentary, but now they became guiding principles that helped him stay consistent.
Another simple but powerful concept: doing things ‘just a little bit better’.
“I am typically that ‘all or nothing’ guy, but PN taught me how to make things just a little bit better,” explains Derek. “And the guilt was off me; If I screwed up, I just kept going.”
It wasn’t always easy to stay the course.
For a while, he hit a plateau, and frustration started to creep in.
That’s when Derek reached out to Coach Zach, who helped him make a few small tweaks, and reminded him to stay the course.
Once again, Derek stayed steady. “It seemed like every time I was wavering, the daily lesson would speak to me and give me exactly what I needed.”  So he kept going.
That steadiness and consistency added up to amazing results.
Derek is thrilled at the changes.
“I’m a happier person. I look good, I feel good, I don’t ache all day anymore. And the pain in my knees is getting better all the time.”
He adds, “I’ve been to an elite level of athletics, and this is the best I’ve ever felt or looked.”
For Derek, the best part is beyond the finish line.
“I would usually rush from the start to the finish line. But now, there is no finish line. I look forward to my workouts and continuing to live the habits I’ve learned.
I feel like a new me. It’s exciting.”

$2,500 Women's Winner:
Age: 36 years
Weight Lost: 32 lbs (162 lbs to 130 lbs)
Total inches lost: 28" (226" to 198")
A year ago, I found an undernourished and overindulgent self, looking bewilderedly at a personal life that I had paused while dealing with a traumatic experience. PN taught me how to nourish my whole self with small, daily choices that build a life rooted in my values, and – no matter what comes my way – I am never going back.

$2,500 Women's Winner:
Age: 53 years
Weight Lost: 84 lbs (280 lbs to 196 lbs)
Total inches lost: 55" (293" to 238")
I'm right where I'm supposed to be. I expected to lose weight and get healthier and I have done just that. I didn't expect to gain back some confidence, because I didn't even realize I had lost it. I didn't expect to be taking pride in my appearance either. When I look at my starting pictures and my last set of progress pictures you can see the change on my face. Now it's radiating joy.

Over time, those steps ultimately changed my life. It went far beyond helping me with my health and fitness goals. It has made a positive impact on all aspects of my life.

$1,000 Women's Winner:
Age: 35 years
Weight Lost: 48 lbs (222 lbs to 174 lbs)
Total inches lost: 35" (267" to 232")
Through PN, I've learned to take small, seemingly insignificant decisions and actions much more seriously, and use them to empower myself. Before I might have thoughtlessly consumed a cookie at work or a beer after – “it’s just one, one won’t hurt!” Now I look through a long-term lens of living with the physical and emotional impact of thousands of those small actions, added up over time (which is, in fact, what brought me to PN). Rarely will those little things be worth any guilt, short-term physical symptoms, or longer-term loss of fitness or willpower. Better not to engage the enemy at all. It's about mental and emotional survival skills – not just self-control but, more importantly, self-compassion.

Before Precision Nutrition I was putting my career ahead of my health, and it was taking a huge toll on my mind and body. After several attempts with poor diet plans and bizarre exercise strategies, I decided to commit to a year with PN. Right from the start the PN coaches understood where I was coming from, and with their lessons and habits, taught me that by making a few small changes every day, I could reap huge rewards. Both the physical and mental transformation has been overwhelming. I am happier and healthier than I have ever been in my adult life, and it feels like I am finally in control.

PN Coaching this year has been an amazing and life-changing experience. PN has taught me to shift from 'all or nothing', 'on the bus/off the bus' thinking to a 'small but consistent' mentality with the opportunity to wipe the slate clean at any time. I have had so many ups and downs this year with business and my progress, but PN was a rock for me, every day...a new lesson, another workout. I loved the accountability and the consistency. PN showed me that you don't have to be perfect to get results. You can accomplish anything with hard work and consistent effort. I haven't been at this weight since I was 17. Many aches and pains have gone away. I have had so many people comment on how much weight I lost and how I look younger. I am proud that I have accomplished this and even more proud that I wasn't perfect along the way. I now know this is truly a 'lifestyle' that I can lead.

Precision Nutrition Coaching Grand Prize Winners: January 2018. We just surprised our latest winners with more than $125,000 in prizes!
Chelsea and Derek spent the past 12 months transforming their eating habits, health, bodies, and lives with personal help from a PN coach. And now? They’re our latest Grand Prize winners. See how we surprised them with $25,000 each, and meet the rest of our January 2018 Precision Nutrition Coaching winners.
++++
Every six months, in our Precision Nutrition Coaching program, we give away $125,000 to the men and women who have the most incredible, inspiring body transformations.
Yep, that’s $250,000 a year.
What’s different about this round?
Our most recent transformations were so inspiring — and the response from voters was so huge — that we decided to give out even MORE money.
And, today, you’ll meet our amazing winners.
These folks started working with us in January 2017 and, over the course of the last year, completely transformed how they eat, move, look, and feel.
They lost weight, gained strength, boosted their health, and inspired their friends and families.
Even better, they did it without diets, fads, or crazy workout routines.
Each person simply committed to making a change, stayed consistent, and used the accountability and support of one of our dedicated coaches.

Age: 54 years
Weight Lost: 41 lbs (225 lbs to 184 lbs)
Total inches lost: 30" (267" to 237")
My PN year has influenced every aspect of my life. I weigh less, I move more, I eat more consciously, I plan ahead, I use my time more efficiently, I forgive myself more, I get things done, I take better care of myself, I know more about myself, I think more positively, I say 'no' more. I have also influenced my family and friends, and I stand taller. Through small, focused, consistent daily actions, I did the work to make this happen! I am so grateful to have discovered this program.
- Germaine
Julie
$2,500 Women's Winner:
Age: 36 years
Weight Lost: 32 lbs (162 lbs to 130 lbs)
Total inches lost: 28" (226" to 198")
A year ago, I found an undernourished and overindulgent self, looking bewilderedly at a personal life that I had paused while dealing with a traumatic experience. PN taught me how to nourish my whole self with small, daily choices that build a life rooted in my values, and – no matter what comes my way – I am never going back.
- Julie
Karin
$2,500 Women's Winner:
Age: 53 years
Weight Lost: 84 lbs (280 lbs to 196 lbs)
Total inches lost: 55" (293" to 238")
I'm right where I'm supposed to be. I expected to lose weight and get healthier and I have done just that. I didn't expect to gain back some confidence, because I didn't even realize I had lost it. I didn't expect to be taking pride in my appearance either. When I look at my starting pictures and my last set of progress pictures you can see the change on my face. Now it's radiating joy.

Sherry
$1,000 Women’s Winner:
Age: 47 years
Weight Gained: 14 lbs (102 lbs to 116 lbs)
Total inches gained: 17″ (167″ to 184″)
PN Coaching gave me the tools to transform my life. It taught me the importance of consistency and how taking small daily actions would bring me closer to reaching my goals. Over time, those steps ultimately changed my life. It went far beyond helping me with my health and fitness goals. It has made a positive impact on all aspects of my life.
– Sherry
Erin
- Erin
Judith
$1,000 Women's Winner:
Age: 57 years
Weight Lost: 23 lbs (139 lbs to 116 lbs)

Age: 41 years
Weight Lost: 7 lbs (164 lbs to 157 lbs)
Total inches lost: 12" (229" to 217")
PN goes beyond teaching you nutrition and better eating habits. Through this year, I've learned to listen to my body and make the choices that are right for me.
- Emily
Deborah
$1,000 Women's Winner:
Age: 67 years
Weight Lost: 33 lbs (157 lbs to 124 lbs)

++++

Age: 33 years
Weight Lost: 22 lbs (159 lbs to 137 lbs)
Total inches lost: 19" (221" to 202")

Germaine
$2,500 Women's Winner:
- Karin
– Sherry
Erin
- Erin
Judith
$1,000 Women's Winner:
Age: 57 years
Weight Lost: 23 lbs (139 lbs to 116 lbs)
Total inches lost: 18" (207" to 189")
PN coaching has helped me exceed the expectations I had. I truly have become a better version of myself, and will continue growing as a result of everything I've learned this year.
- Judith
Emily
$1,000 Women's Winner:
Age: 41 years
Weight Lost: 7 lbs (164 lbs to 157 lbs)
Total inches lost: 12" (229" to 217")
PN goes beyond teaching you nutrition and better eating habits. Through this year, I've learned to listen to my body and make the choices that are right for me.
- Emily
Deborah

++++

Chelsea adds, “I learned that don’t you don’t have to do absolutely everything in order to succeed.

But at 38, Derek’s daily life had started to make his fit-and-healthy athlete days feel like a distant memory: The father of three leaves for his demanding job as a pipeline inspector at 3:30 in the morning, not to return until 5:30pm.

- Karin
– Sherry
Erin
- Erin
- Emily
Deborah

Age: 67 years
Weight Lost: 33 lbs (157 lbs to 124 lbs)

Before Precision Nutrition I was putting my career ahead of my health, and it was taking a huge toll on my mind and body.

++++

Chelsea adds, “I learned that don’t you don’t have to do absolutely everything in order to succeed.

But at 38, Derek’s daily life had started to make his fit-and-healthy athlete days feel like a distant memory: The father of three leaves for his demanding job as a pipeline inspector at 3:30 in the morning, not to return until 5:30pm.

I have always loved to eat, and my body used to be proof of that. Over the past year, the PN program changed the *way* I eat, changed my brain, changed my body, changed my whole approach to food and exercise. I still love to eat, but now I'm in the best shape of my life!
- Bernie
Annie

Age: 33 years
Weight Lost: 22 lbs (159 lbs to 137 lbs)
Total inches lost: 19" (221" to 202")

Germaine
$2,500 Women's Winner:
- Karin
– Sherry
Erin
- Erin
- Emily
Deborah
$1,000 Women's Winner:
Age: 67 years
Weight Lost: 33 lbs (157 lbs to 124 lbs)
Total inches lost: 35" (222" to 187")
The Precision Nutrition program provides so many surprises and the approach sneaks up on you somehow. Using tiny incremental changes, and emphasizing the positive, I was provided the opportunity to conquer some important challenges: lose weight, get lean and strong, and dig deeply into longstanding struggles with emotional eating. It has been an amazing journey.
- Deborah

If you’re interested and want to find out more, I’d encourage you to join our presale list.
Being on the presale list gives you two special advantages.
You’ll pay less than everyone else. At Precision Nutrition we like to reward the most interested and motivated people because they always make the best clients. Join the presale list and you’ll save up to 54% off the general public price, which is the lowest price we’ve ever offered.
You’re more likely to get a spot. To give clients the personal care and attention they deserve, we only open up the program twice a year. Last time we opened registration, we sold out within minutes. By joining the presale list you’ll get the opportunity to register 24 hours before everyone else, increasing your chances of getting in.
[Note: If your health and fitness are already sorted out, but you’re interested in helping others, check out our Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification program].
If you’re ready to change your body, and your life, with help from the world’s best coaches, this is your chance.
