Author’s Note: I want to shoutout to all of you amazing people who have been so enthusiastic about this story! I LOVE YOU ALL.
I had written such a long ass chapter that I had to split it up into two parts - next one will be up very soon! My disclaimer stands - I don’t have the time to make this good because of NaNoWriMo. Wish I had more time to edit.

The decision to go and pack up your life left you little time to dwell on what you would bring with you and what you would leave behind.
As Chadwick drove to your apartment for the second time, you prepared yourself to make some hard decisions. Other than the necessities, most of what you owned in that apartment could stay in it, like books you never read, kitchen stuff, DVDs that had been following you around for years in thick black media sleeves.
There was only one thing that you couldn’t imagine leaving behind and that was Dodger.
He was your dog. You may have been with Cole when you adopted him, but all three of you knew who Dodger loved best. It was your lap he migrated to, and your bed he slept on. When Cole couldn’t convince him to get up for his walk, it was you who got called in to cajole the little animal who practically did backflips at the sound of your high-pitched doggie voice.
The more you thought about it during the half an hour drive over, the more determined you became that Dodger was coming with you and if your new roommate didn’t approve, you’d live with your dog on the street.
Your apartment building came into view and as Chadwick slowed, you scanned for Cole’s motorcycle, then sighed with relief to find it missing from his usual spot. You shared this with Chadwick whose shoulders visibly relaxed.
Even knowing it was unlikely Cole was around, you noticed Chadwick was on guard the moment you both stepped out of the car. He flanked you like a bodyguard, his posture stiff and tall as he escorted you up the steps, taking in the surroundings with darting eyes that were assessing all threats. There was nothing of note but the usual. Older couples still in their church clothes, young boys shooting the shit on their balconies, smaller kids running around on the grass enjoying the Sunday afternoon.
You watched Chadwick take it all in. The slow elevator, the peeling wallpaper, the outdated lobby. He kept his expression impassive.
“So where’s this place you’re moving to?” He turned to you in the elevator, his hands in his hoodie pockets.
“It’s a one bedroom in Vermont Square.”
He paused. “Wait…. one bedroom? I thought you said you had a roommate.”
“One bedroom plus den,” you corrected yourself. “I’m taking the den.”
Chadwick crossed his arms over his broad chest, regarding you with a long look. He quickly reigned in his incredulous expression, returning to a poker face. “Oh. Right.”
Answering his unspoken question just as the elevator door opened, you shrugged a shoulder. “Could be worse.”
He followed you into the hallway, and before you even had a chance to open the door, you heard Dodger whining on the other side and felt your heart break into a thousand pieces. You unlocked and threw open the door without ceremony and ran inside to scoop him up. He was a wiggling, shuddering, licking, yelping being made of white marshmallow fluff and you ached with love.
“Dodger! Dodger, stop,” you let out a giggle at his wet cheek kisses, and turned with him in your arms towards an amused looking Chadwick.
“This is Dodger. Dodger, this is Chadwick.” Right on cue, Dodger barked and rushed out of your arms to make friends with Chadwick’s legs. Smiling, he bent down and reached out with his giant hand to pet the curly fluff on Dodger’s head after the customary sniff of his knuckles.
“No Cole,” you observed, “but he could be back soon so I’ll be as quick as I can.”
Dodger followed you into your room, immediately jumped on the bed, circled exactly three times, and laid down peering at you under his furry brows.
Chadwick remained half in, half out of the doorway with an ear towards the front door while you busied yourself packing the suitcase from your closet, a giant duffel bag and your backpack.
You thought it would be easy, but now that you were surrounded by your things, there was more you wanted to keep than you realized and you struggled with some difficult choices as you carefully rationed your space.
Only your favourite clothes went into the suitcase, and in the duffel bag and backpack, you only had room for necessities, like your laptop. An entire bag of flavoured chapsticks had to be left behind, and it was just one of many heartbreaks.
You stuffed the bags full, then unzipped the expandable fabric of your suitcase to squeeze in a few more pairs of shoes.
“Okay, I’m done.” You announced, wiping sweat off your forehead.
Chadwick, who had abandoned his post in the doorway in favour of lounging next to Dodger, obediently stood and began to load up your belongings and carry them out.
You put a hand on his arm. “Hey, do you mind if I have just a minute in here?”
His eyes softened. “Of course.”
You wished there was more time. You didn’t think of yourself as sentimental, but you found your eyes filling with tears saying goodbye to the part of your life this room represented, and the memories you had here. Hours spent watching that tiny television, or sleeping next to Dodger on your bed. Everything was about to change, and you didnt feel prepared.
“Psst,” you heard through the door.
“What – “ You pushed the bedroom door open, and Dodger jumping down from the bed and running to the door confirmed it.
Cole was home.
“Fuck.”
Chadwick glanced behind you, tension furrowing his brow before turning back around, squaring his shoulders and standing tall in anticipation.
Where you were standing, you had the pleasure and the curse of seeing the look on Cole’s face when he opened the door to find you, Chadwick, and most of your packed things littering the space between you.
The range of emotions on his face was spectacular.
First, there was surprise. Eyebrows lifted, his cheeks a little more gaunt than usual as his jaw dropped open. Then, noticing the suitcases, his eyes moistened with sadness for the briefest of moments. Then… betrayal. An ice-cold glare thrown like a spear between your eyes. How could you do this? he bellowed silently. Finally, anger. Fuming, red hot, anger. First at you, and then the full force of his sneering, nostril flaring fury landed squarely on Chadwick.
“Y/N, want to explain what the fuck is going on?”  Still in the doorway, ignoring Dodger sniffing at his ankles, he was addressing you but glaring at Chadwick.
You only had a view of his back, but you saw the tension in him coiling, his hands becoming tight fists, body at full height and in a posture that said he was ready to throw down.
Emboldened by the wall of solid muscle currently bristling between you and Cole, you snapped, “What do you think is going on? I’m moving out. Like I said I would.”
Cole moved from the door, taking two steps towards you with a threatening gait that made Chadwick take one step forward and cross his arms, his biceps bulging.
You watched Cole size him up. Chadwick was bigger, with an imposing energy made even more menacing with his simmering silence, but Cole had the confidence and inferiority complex of a chihuahua. Knowing this about him, you could have written the script he would follow, beat by beat, and he didn’t disappoint.
Cole walked forward to get right up in Chadwick’s face, who didn’t flinch.
“You must be Chadwick.” Cole smirked.
Though he was facing away from you and spoke low, you heard Chadwick’s words in your chest, each enunciated syllable heavy with warning.
“Let her leave.”
“Let her speak for herself, asshole.”
Cole pushed Chadwick’s shoulder, finding it granite and barely swaying more than a few inches before returning to its square, solid foundation.
You began to creep towards the two, hoping to break things up but all of Cole’s focus was on his antagonist, and he shoved him again, this time with both hands on each shoulder and all of his weight behind it.
Chadwick snapped. Faster than you could comprehend, you heard the ka-bam as Cole’s body collided with the wall and was kept pinned there by Chadwick’s forearm, tight enough on his clavicle to cause the cords in Cole’s neck to stand out and the veins to pop in his face.
Chadwick leaned forward to speak into Cole’s ear at a volume that robbed you of hearing his words, and as he did, out of all of the emotions you’d seen in Cole’s face over the years, you saw something new. Fear. Though you strained to hear what was causing it, all you caught was the low, growling timbre of Chadwick’s voice, and Cole’s harsh, throaty choking sounds accompanying each rough press of Chadwick’s forearm into his chest.
You watched, stunned, as the fight went out of Cole’s eyes and he slumped.
Chadwick retracted his arm and, leaving Cole to his coughing fit, he turned around to face you. That fierce, intense look in his eyes, making his pupils nearly black was familiar. You kept your focus on Cole behind him, in case he was planning a dirty play and intended to pounce on Chadwick with his back turned.
It would have been a Cole thing to do. But he didn’t.
“You got everything?” Chadwick asked, ignoring the third person in the room. Your eyes moved to his and for a flash, an intense gaze connected you together. He was making sure you were alright. You blinked and nodded, answering him.
Cole observed in your periphery, but didn’t move forward.
“There is one more thing.” You had a brief, sick moment of remorse for the thing you were about to do, before you bent down to your knees and called out, “Dodger! Come here boy!”
The dog had kept his distance during the tense standoff, so he was far under your bed when you called. He came trotting out of the bedroom towards your voice but stopped and shook with frightened surprise when Cole yelled in an outburst of emotion, “No!”
“He’s my dog, Cole,” you rationalized with a shaky voice as Dodger ran to your legs. “You can have everything else but Dodger comes with me.”
You trembled as you scooped up the dog, wishing there was some other way. Cole’s crumpled, angry, heartbroken face would haunt you with guilt forever.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered into Dodger’s fur, your growing tears blurring Cole’s image.
His eyes narrowed, and his lips pursed so tight they disappeared into a line. “You walk out that door with him, I will fucking find you -”
Cole took one step and was blocked by a Chadwick-shaped wall of stone. “Ah,” he warned, his palm outstretched towards Cole’s chest who reacted with a murderous look of rage. “Remember what I said,” Chadwick chided, a hint of smugness in his voice.
With Chadwick’s strategic placement between you both, there was no way Cole was getting near you or Dodger on your way out. Angry as he was, you saw that resignation in Cole’s eyes, and it was your signal to begin moving your things into the hall while Chadwick stood watch.
You returned to the doorway holding Dodger, who was relaxed, but alert in your arms as you stood there for one last look at Cole.
He had been your best friend, your boyfriend, a man you ruined friendships for. You took a breath, and let it out shakily as you whispered, meeting his eyes for the last time, “I’m sorry.”
You turned your back to him and stepped through the threshold into the hall, followed by Chadwick who gently closed the door.
Adrenaline helped you focus and ignore the avalanche of emotions. Getting Dodger and your things into Chadwick’s car was all that mattered.
In the elevator, you turned to Chadwick with narrowed eyes. “What did you say to him back there? The Cole I know would have tried to beat your ass,” your mouth twitched with a curious smile.
Chadwick was being intentionally mysterious with his shrug and reply, “I dunno.” He fought the tug of his lips while you rolled your eyes.
“Come on,” you whined.
He shrugged again just as the creaky elevator opened, leaving you with only a small hallway until you would be taking your last steps from this building forever.
Seeing outside and green grass, Dodger started to go wild in your arms. As you walked through the lobby, wearing your backpack while Chadwick wheeled your black suitcase and army print duffel bag over his broad shoulders, you had to struggle to keep Dodger still.
“I’m sorry, I just realized I didn’t ask if it was okay he stay at your place tonight.” You looked at him with a sudden anxious expression.
“It’s fine, no problem. Lots of room for him to run around. Hey,” he lifted his chin towards Dodger, “You like steak? I think I know what I’m making for dinner tonight,” he waggled his eyebrows and you laughed.
“Oh shit, he would love that,” you hugged Dodger tighter and glanced at Chadwick whose attention was turned on getting your suitcase through the door.
As you watched him, you felt a terrifying upward leap of your heart into your throat.
You followed through the door held open by his outstretched arm to the outside world. Dodger wanted to run and play, so you soothed him just enough to get him into the back seat of the car.
Once secure in the back, you placed your backpack next to him and took the passenger seat. As you did, you heard a few “ohh, dammmmmn!” comments coming from a group of guys walking past the car. Chadwick gave them an amicable nod, and started up the engine, which immediately began to purr quietly.
As soon as the car came to a stop behind the gates of Chadwick’s property, you opened the door for Dodger to jump down and run around to sniff and acquaint himself with Chadwick’s green space.
“I’ll follow him and make sure he doesn’t poop in your flowers,” you smiled apologetically. “He likes to do that.”
Chadwick laughed a loud, boisterous laugh and his smile buoyed you to the sun.
“Go ahead, I’ll bring these things in.”
You opened your car’s glove compartment for the spare doggie clean up bags, and followed your happy puppy around in the sunshine as he tumbled and played and sniffed the flowers, totally unaware of the drama that had unfolded around him that day.
Your feelings of relief deepened by the second. You were with your best friend Dodger, currently exploring the property of someone who genuinely cared about you. In the past few hours, you began to feel that in your bones.
You wandered back inside, depositing the plastic bag in the bin and smiled watching your puppy acquaint himself with Chadwick’s home before jumping up on the couch, and testing the softness before curling up.
Chadwick reappeared in the hallway.
“Is it okay if he’s on your couch?” You began rushing over to Dodger in case he needed to be quickly removed.
You noticed then that Chadwick had changed into a light grey hoodie and dark blue, thick sweats with pockets and a white stripe down the side. You also couldn’t help but notice, with a sudden light headed sensation, his faint bulge.
“’Course,” he answered, making his way over towards both of you in the living room. You had gravitated again to the uncomfortable, geometric chair while Chadwick settled his body into the back of the couch.
You were wondering how in the hell a man could look so good in sweats and a hoodie when you heard his soft voice beckon, “Come here.”
You looked up and your breath stopped. He was holding his arms out in a half circle, clearly intending for you to climb into them, and your heart began to melt into liquid slurry. Not even the coldest of hearts could resist that sight.
You stood from the chair, still looking at him questioningly, but he kept his arms open wide and twitched his fingers, the little smile growing and melting your hesitation.
As soon as you were close, he clasped his arms around you and before you knew it, he was sinking onto his back on the couch, and you were moving with him, shifting naturally into a position of warm comfort and bliss with all of your softness fitting into his hard grooves.
You chose not to question what was happening and snuggled into his sweatshirt, finding the company of his heart beat and comforting smell an unexpected and healing balm.
When you were settled, you felt the scratch of his bearded chin on your forehead where he placed a single, chaste, soft kiss and you felt his words through his chest, straight into yours.
“I’m proud of you, Y/N.”
You had that feeling again of being overwhelmed that left you speechless. In acknowledgment, you squeezed your arms around him, and his hands brought warmth to your back where they began to circle in soothing passes.
The lulling motions became mesmerizing and after a time, your eyelids closed. A few minutes later, you caught yourself breathing slower, the heavy magic of sleep starting to pull you under.
You mumbled, “I’m gonna fall asleep if you keep doing that.” Your words were muffled by his body to the point you were sure he couldn’t understand you, but he did.
“That’s the idea.” He chuckled and you went back to focusing on the spreading warmth from his hands and the softness of his sweatshirt against your cheek, soon drifting off to sleep with ease.

TO BE KILLED 7/23/19 BEYOND CRITICAL
“Silly and adorable” is what the volunteers have to say about SPOT. The oldest name in the book, reinvented in this chubby, happy, priceless low rider with his heart of gold. You will never find him without a smile, and his tail non-stop wags when greeting people. Old friend, new friend, it’s all the same to Spot. He’s 8 years young, full of joy and goodwill, and waiting for his forever family. Please don’t let him down. A dog this special should be by the side of his people for a summer full of barbeques, falling hamburgers (ooops, that’s mine, he says!) and long walks in a nearby park or down at the pond. Don’t let him languish, life is short when you’re a human, nevermind a pup! Message our page or email us at [email protected] to foster or adopt the sweetest gentleman in the world.
A volunteer writes:
The best way I can describe Spot is "a big ol' ball of love!" He's super-sweet and friendly and just LOVES attention. He got all wiggly and waggly when I interacted with him, but the best was when he stood up and leaned into me for doggie hugs, then thanked me with kisses! He's a big boy, but walked nicely on a leash and took treats very gently. Spot likes to keep busy by playing with toys and chew bones; and loves to burn off energy with a good game of fetch (though long, brisk walks work well too!). I just love hanging out with Spot and think you will too, so come and meet this happy, playful boy today at the Brooklyn ACC shelter, where he's excitedly awaiting his fur-ever home.

PLAYGROUP NOTES - DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES:
According to Spot's previous owner, he has not lived with other dogs but when on walks he is described as respectful.
6/12: When off leash at the Care Center, Spot is introduced to a novel female dog. He sees the female approaching the gate and he stiffens and begins to chuff. As the female walks closer to the gate he begins to hard bark and jumps on the gate. The gate is not opened and an off-leash interaction is not conducted.
7/12: Due to Spot's previous behavior in group he was muzzled prior to an on-leash introduction. Spot focuses on the greeter and leans forward. He oscillates between pawing at the muzzle and fixating on the greeter. Later in the session the muzzle is taken off but his leash is held. He rushes towards the female, continuing to display a tense posture.
INTAKE BEHAVIOR: Date of intake: 11-Jun-2019
Summary: Exuberant, loose bodied
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Date of initial: 11-Jun-2019
Summary: Wagging, seeks contact, jumping up
ENERGY LEVEL: Spot has been observed to exhibit a medium-high level of energy during his interactions in the care center. We cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment, but we recommend that he be provided daily mental and physical stimulation as an outlet for his energy.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Level 3
Behavior Asilomar TM - Treatable-Manageable
Recommendations:
No children (under 13)
Single-pet home
Recommend no dog parks
Recommendations comments:
No children (under 13): Due to Spot's observed kennel presence, fearful behavior and reported destructive behavior, we feel it would be best for him to be placed in a stable, adult-only home environment to ensure his success. It is advised that the new adopters should be able to exercise appropriate and safe management when handling Spot, allowing him to acclimate and decompress at his own pace. Force-free, reward-based training only is advised when introducing or exposing Spot to new and unfamiliar situations, as well as utilizing guidance from a qualified, professional trainer/behaviorist.
Single-pet home/Recommend no dog parks: Due to the concerning behaviors that Spot has shown during playgroup (see DOG-DOG BEHAVIOR SUMMARY), we feel that Spot should not visit dog parks and be the only resident dog. The Behavior Department recommends that he be socialized in a more controlled setting until his behavior towards other dogs can be further addressed. Reward-based, force-free training can be utilized to help Spot associate dogs with things he enjoys like toys or treats.
Potential challenges:
Destructive behavior
Fearful
Kennel presence
Potential challenges comments:
Destructive behavior: Previous owner reported Spot to destroy items, dig, and bark when left alone in the yard. This behavior has not been observed during his interactions in the care center. Please refer to the handout for Destructive behavior.
Fearful: During his assessment, Spot was observed to display fearful behavior when introduced to a plush squeak toy. He flinched, lowered his body and avoided the toy when it was offered. He was not observed to escalate beyond these behaviors. Please refer to the handout for Fearful.
Kennel presence: Spot has been observed to low growl and hard bark when staff approach his kennel. Once he is removed from the kennel, this behavior is not observed during his walks or interactions. Should this behavior arise in a home environment, please refer to the handout for Kennel presence.

Looking at the clock hanging on the wall, it was not too late to hit the shops. But, you couldn’t let Jungkook walk outside in a police outfit. People would look at you weirdly, or worse, having other people to ask. Maybe there would be other officers, thinking he was at work but slacking off, hanging with you. The boy in front, were still playing with his baton. His skills were fragile, but he looked like a kid who found a lightsabre for the first time. It amused you, to see him like this. A human computer, playing around.
Thinking over the possibilities in your closet, there was no way he could wear any of your clothes. Fishing out your phone, you searched your contacts of possible guys, that you could get a favour from. It has been ages, since you had been speaking to any of them. But, there was this one guy. Kim Seokjin, or you preferred to just call him Jin. He was your manager, when you were an MMA fighter. He was always there, to get a hang of your schedules. A friend, but disappeared after you vanished from the media. Tapping on his name, you took a deep breath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You sprinted towards your room, to rummage in your closet. Jungkook was right behind you, as he walked through the hallway. His eyes caught a room in the back, with the door barely open. Even squinting his eyes, he couldn’t figure out what was in the darkness. Curiosity got the best of him, as he walked towards the room. His hand reached out, to grab the door handle. But your call, interrupted his investigation.
“Jungkook, come here for a sec” You spoke flatly, with your body half cramped inside the closet. He obeyed, walking in to see your posture of doggy style. “Erhm, yes?” He answered, making you get out of the closet. Your hair was a mess, after your clothes has been piling on top of you. A pink T-shirt were lazily in your hand, as you took a deep breath.
“I thought, you could wear this with your pants. Basically, without the officer shirt, you look like any other dude out there. But I only have this, because Jin’s favourite colour is pink…” You suggested, holding up the big T-shirt. Jungkook didn’t hesitate to nod, not knowing why it was a problem. Taking off the officer accessories, he lifted his shirt. Frankly, your eyes widened seeing his muscular shape. His defined six pack and tanned skin, made you almost droll onto the floor. You were paralyzed to see his half naked form, making him shoot a perplexed look.
“Is something wrong?” He questioned, looking down on his body. Making you shake your head, leaving your thoughts into a sealed box. “No, here.” You spoke firmly, handling him the shirt.
Without thinking further, he put on the shirt. A baby pink, suited him even though for the colour. He didn’t seem to hate it either, as he looked at himself in the mirror. He bit onto his lip, twirling around to see the oversize shirt in the reflection. “I look good” He stated, as a smile creeped on his lips. “Yeah, you do..” You commented, still thinking about his muscular body under those clothes. Your state was interrupted by your rumbling stomach, making you clutch to the soft flesh.
“Was that, a stomach growl?” He asked curiously, walking over to you. Blushing of the scene, he gestured a hand for you to take. Grabbing it, he swiftly lifted you from the ground. His palm was cold, but gradually warmer the longer you held onto it. The feel of his veins on the back of his hand, made you get chills. “Yeah, I haven’t eaten yet” You chuckled, letting go of it. The cold taking over, as you saw his eyes glister at the sunlight. “You should eat then!” He suggested enthusiastically, headed towards the kitchen. His arms looking slimmer, by Jin’s broad shirt. You ran ahead, stopping him from entering the kitchen, flaying your arms to the side. “WAIT!” You commanded, stopping him in his tracks. His eyes were widened, and eyebrows knitted of your outburst. Understanding his confusion, you coughed in response, letting your arms fall to your side. “I mean- We’re going to the mall, getting you some clothes. I will just get something to eat on the way” You explained, making his facial features relax. A small chicken nod from him, made you exhale.
Within minutes, you went to grab your bag with your belongings. Checking if everything was okay, as you walked out of the door to have Jungkook follow along. It was weird, when this was the first time you went outside to shop, with someone else. Not a lot of friends has been at your place, or gone shopping with you. But this time, it was for Jungkook.
“Does your system know about fashion?” You questioned, walking alongside. The sun beaming, with the wind’s breeze hit your neck. There would go some time, before you would arrive at the shopping centre, so you thought talking was better than silence. You heard him hum, before his mouth opened. “I know, when clothes are mixed well together. Master Namjoon wanted it to be a priority” He answered, making you chuckle. It wasn’t surprising, that the great scientist has done that. Back in the day, Namjoon didn’t hesitate to ask you to be his photographer, taking pictures of his well fitted outfit. High school would be boring without him, not having someone you could have a decent conversation with.
“What does Master Namjoon look like?” He asked curiously, making you furrow your brows. Were you the first person, that Jungkook have ever met? His oblivious face, clarified that it was the case. “He has big lips, dimples, brown eyes, tall, skinny, tan, purple hair and has a really wide smile.” You tried to visualise it for him, but all he did was nod along. Maybe, Jungkook couldn’t imagine what his creator looked like.
“Do you feel weird, not knowing who he is?” You asked, but felt regret shut you up. Jungkook was a robot, and you had no idea if he could mentally ‘feel’ something. Namjoon explained he could feel like a person, with pleasure but not if he could feel happiness, sadness of any kind. “I have a lot of questions, I want to ask him. But, I can’t. It’s like, being lost or abandoned. Is that what you meant?” He questioned back, making your jaw clench. His eyes narrowed, making him seem sad but still hopeful. Namjoon, was practically a dad for him. But all you could do, was shrug your shoulders in defence. You had no idea, what he had been installing in his brain. All you had to do, was fill in the blanks, was this what Namjoon meant?
“Oh we’re here!” You blurted out, standing in front of the shopping mall. The various of people stepping by, making Jungkook’s eyes follow along. You hit him on his arm, making him flinch. “Do not stare, that’s rude.” You commented, making him nod again. Even for your actions, he was nothing but a kid. Following order, as he was programmed.
“Let’s go” You spoke gently, walking inside the giant shopping mall. Lights and signs flashing in his eyes, as he walked by your side. Bystanders staring, making him gulp to grab your arm. Your faced him, seeing the shock in his eyes. Chuckling of his behaviour, you put your hand on his. “It’s fine, you’re safe with me” You commented, making his shoulders fall. He exhaled, taking his hand away from you. Girls from afar, were whispering as they saw the handsome boy. Jungkook noticed the eyes that followed him, making him whisper in your ear; “Why is it rude of me to stare, but not for those girls?”
You looked at him and after, towards the girls on the bench. A simple eye contact, made them avoid your gaze. Their rudeness of looking, was noticeable with your harsh stare. After you assured they didn’t look, you smiled at Jungkook. “It is rude and I think, they won’t stare for some time again. People sometimes mistake it as a compliment, than being rude.” You spoke again, making him nod. He loved hearing you speak, teaching him of the human behaviour. The way of thinking, to be upgraded in his memory card. “How come you know they won’t stare for some time again?” He asked, making you answer in the speed of light. “Because they think we’re a couple. If they know the guy is taken, then they won’t be trying to chase you. Even though, some can be ruder by trying anyways… which is disrespectful and hurting the other person.” You explained, not realising what kind of information you’re revealing to the boy. He bit onto his lip, unsure if the next question would invade your privacy, but his curiosity was programmed to extent higher than a human.
“Have you been hurt before, by someone taking away your boyfriend?” He asked, making you slower your phase. His question hit you across the heart, slashing an open wound that you tried to heal. Thinking back, to how Taehyung played with you and left, for your best friend. The way he looked at you, the shame that overcame when you weren’t ready to kiss or give away your innocence. That’s why, he chose your experienced friend, despite his words of ‘I love you’ that was spoken in the phone. Fooling you, like a kid with candy.
The memories were too hard to handle, you scanned the room around you. A black-coloured store, with mannequins in the window. “Oh look, a shop! Let’s go there” You hurried, not answering his question. Jungkook was confused, but followed along as if nothing happened.
The workers were smiling at you, asking if you needed any help. With a nice gesture, you told them you were fine and were just looking around. Jungkook were on your side, learning in silence. His eyes landed on rows of clothes, in different colours from darker to light. Ripped jeans and closed jeans, while shoes were displayed on the wall. Basically, Jungkook were in dream land for Namjoon. As he looked around the shop, you hurried to find clothes that you thought looked good. With the help of a worker, he picked out the newest trend and size. Everything wasn’t cheap, but Jungkook needed a full supply of clothes. One outfit, wouldn’t be enough. Asking Jin for more clothes, would only cause problems for yourself.
“Jungkook, I found a lot of stuff. I think you should try it” You spoke, holding the bundle of clothes in your arms. Walking over to the boy, who was staring at something. “What are you looking at?” You asked, letting your eyes fall on the piece he held in his hand. It was a pair of boxers, with the print of Iron man.
“What is this? And why is there a man with a weapon build in his hand?” He spoke, making you giggle of the curiosity he had. Remembering, that he didn’t need to pee, so did he need boxers too? Thinking for a while, you decided to let him have a few pairs. You basically, didn’t know if he could sweat or worse, have wet dreams, thanks to Namjoon. “It’s underwear. A piece of cloth you wear under your clothes. Also, that is Iron Man. He’s a super hero, kind of like you. He is human, but with robotic armour, protecting world from evil.” You explained, making his mouth go in awe. All he heard, was that he is a super hero. Ordering him to pick up a few pairs of underwear, with print and single black ones, you headed towards the changing rooms.
While Jungkook were changing, you waited outside. Whenever he had trouble with buttons or how to wear a piece of clothing, you prayed not to droll in front of his half naked body. Namjoon, did a good job, way too good. When your hand brushed against his muscles, you felt some type of energy rise inside. “I think black is my colour” He spoke, making you agree. Everyone, practically looked good in black. But Jungkook, looked like a model. Letting him try on some more outfits, you left the changing room. Teaching him, there is something called privacy. A special bubble, where someone could be alone and not exposed. Walking in on someone changing, without their permission, would be an example of invading someone’s privacy. But asking too many questions, of someone’s life at home, could be invasive. In fact, it all depended on who the person was. Asking for permission, was a thing he always needed to do.
“Did Iron man save a lot of people?” You heard him behind the curtains, as he fumbled with some clothes. “I think so.” You responded, unsure if that’s how the movie went. “Will I save a lot of people, like him?” Another question, making you bite onto your lip. “I don’t know, Jungkook. But I hope so.” You whispered, making him hum in response. You wondered, if he could feel doubt already. If he didn’t learn what he needed, would he be useless? Would you ever live in peace, without the fear of Yoongi destroying everything?
“Say, Jungkook. There is a lot of movies about this Iron man. This weekend, we could watch it? I think you will find a lot in common with him” You suggested, making him remove the curtains. The unbuttoned shirt, revealing his delicate skin, almost gave you a nosebleed. “Really??” He asked excitedly, making you smile and nod in return. His bunny like smile, made your knees weak at times. A kid, being excited for something. Jungkook, was just a big kid.
“I think I’m done now” He commented, making you look inside. Together, you both picked out the clothes he needed and the ones he didn’t need. There was a huge bundle of clothes, including shoes. But for Jungkook to look like a regular person, he needed it. Handing the cashier your credit card, you felt every bit of money slash your pride. It was expensive, but seeing Jungkook’s happy face of handling the clothes, you couldn’t help but feel slightly proud.
Going to the mall and back, didn’t take a lot of time. But you enjoyed every bit, when Jungkook asked about human thinking. What he needed to do, if this happened. Every scenario possible, that you answered to give light. But teaching him how to fight, was a whole new level.
The stadium wasn’t too far from your place, which meant it was free for you. As for all you knew, it was rare that people used that place. Gathering some supplies, you both walked towards the court. Different gears and dummies, were placed on the grass. Blowing in your whistle, he turned into concentration mode. His speed were ten times faster, almost like a car. His reflexes were good, but lacking in stimulation. Hearing would be a problem, if he didn’t concentrate enough. Every order you gave, he fulfilled. His gaze became manlier, and less like the kid in the mall. Your high voice, was all he needed when punching against the dummies. Surprisingly, he was sweating too. Which gave you the impression, that he was certainly hotter. His sharp exhales and inhales, indicated he could get exhausted. Writing down on your notes, you examined his moves and further questions for Namjoon. Seeing him fight, was giving you a loss feeling of wanting to do it yourself. The way your knuckles hit the material, giving shots of adrenaline. Every time you taught him a move, he did a perfect recreation. You could see yourself, in him. The two of you used the day outside, causing the sun to go down as the lights on the stadium went on.
“Let’s go home, Jungkook. You did great today, just a few more weeks like this and then we can move on to your other specialties” You explained, feeling slightly dizzy as he smiled back. He was obviously proud and loved being phrased, specially knowing it was helping him. Exiting the stadium, you felt shots of pain at your abdomen. Clutching to your stomach, you stopped walking. Kneeling on the pavement, Jungkook rushed to ask for your condition. The shots of pain that hit like lightning, made you unable to answer fully. “I-I think, I-I forgot to buy food at the mall” You spoke, gritting your teeth of the stupidity. Jungkook’s jaw clenched, and letting his arm snake around your body. With a slick movement, you were in bridal style.
“J-Jungkook!” You blurted out, feeling the heat rise to your cheeks. His sweaty chest against your palm, as you smelled the scent of sweat and fruit. “You’re hungry and in pain. I’m going to carry you home.” He stated, making you feel flustered in his arms. “But Jung-“
“No ‘buts’. I’m not letting you down, before we’re at the front door.” He finished, shutting you up in one go. The flashes of pain, gradually disappeared when all you could think, was how you felt the beat of his heart.
Walking inside, Jungkook settled you on the couch. A light grunt escaped the back of his throat, making you feel a heat build in your chest. A finger was held in front of your face, as he silently ordered you to sit still. You gulped in response, while he walked towards the kitchen. The stain of sweat on the back of his pink shirt, showing off the hard work he put into the training. The abandoned feel of his grip on your body, was vibrating. His beating heart, exhales and inhales imprinted against your hands. Within a few minutes, he was back with sandwiches. Peanut butter, banana and Nutella was neatly placed in front, on the couch table. His smile that made your vision clear, as his breath hit your skin.
“This is what I could make, but when I have finished a shower, I can cook some proper food” He spoke gently, making you nod. His actions made you speechless, with the sight of his sweaty fringe sticking to his forehead. “Thank you, Jungkook” You muttered lightly, making him chuckle. The bunny teeth shown, as he ruffled your hair lightly.
His fingers running through your hair, as you were fixated on his facial expression. His smile disappeared, but he looked calm. Coming closer, he bended down to your eye level. His brown orbs were directed at you, sending flashes of electricity through your veins. His face coming closer, making you close your eyes. Your mind was clouded, not knowing what to do. Hearing and feeling him only millimetres away, with the sound of his breath against your ear. Chills ran down your spine, as he took a sniff of your hair. Your eyes shut closer, feeling every exhale hit the silky strands.
“You should take a shower afterwards, but get something to eat first. I’ll call you when I’m finished…” He ordered, making your eyes flutter open. His hand was letting go of your hair, seeing the strands run through between his fingers. Turning his back on you, he walked away to the bathroom. His posture and muscles visible through the shirt, were making you feel excited, yet confused. Nothing made sense, at least not now.
Munching on the sandwich, you loved the taste and how it made your stomach cheer. The first you have gotten to eat, since you met Jungkook. Hours without food, was practically suicide for you. You heard the sound of a door open and heavy steps, making you stop chewing. Seeing Jungkook with a confused state, with only a towel wrapped around his hips. His skin glistering because of the sweat and his veins popping, while he held two bottles in his hands. “We forgot to buy shampoo and stuff. Can I borrow from you?” He requested, but you couldn’t answer. It was too much, in one day with the nakedness. You sent him a thumb up, making him smile and walk back to take a shower. Your heart was pumping, at the sight of this beauty.
“This… is going to be some long seven months…” You murmured, clutching to your sandwich.

We feel that placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification guidance in a stable home environment will best set John up for success in a future adoptive home. We recommend only force-free, reward-based training methods as more aversive techniques will likely increase fear and increase the risk of aggression. Potential challenges: : Resource guarding,Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Separation anxiety Potential challenges comments:: Resource guarding: John is reported to growl and snap over food. He should be left alone while eating, and should be taught the cue "drop" and other trade up games so Peanut learns that dropping food or having people around while he is eating is rewarding. Behavior modification protocols for food guarding behavior can be found on aspcapro.org Handling/touch sensitivity: John has been observed to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when touching his paws. It is important to always go slow and give John the option to walk away from any social interaction. John should never be forced to approach anything that he is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be John’s choice to approach a new person or thing. John may do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings. Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: At the care center, he has displayed a discomfort with handling (stiff, lip licking,). It is important to always go slow and give John the option to walk away from any social interaction. John should never be forced to approach anything that he is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be John's choice to approach a new person or thing. John would do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings. Separation Anxiety: Owner reported John has separation anxiety when left in the home alone. John will bark, and whine constantly. We recommend that potential adopters feel comfortable with separation anxiety behaviors and prepared to manage and positively modify them should they appear in a home environment. Beautiful, Cats, and Children: id 38917. O 2 yrs., 54 lb rable Lyica aiting for yOU in Brookun ACO hy, playful, friendly, ourgoing. The gin wAhe megaw smile. Gentle, polite playgroup fiend TO BE KILLED - 8/30/2018 Lyrica is beautiful inside and out. We could end it right there. Really. We could. But we’d be remiss if we also didn’t say that this amazing girl possesses the most brilliant smile, one that pulls you in, and one that is so welcoming, you can’t help but fall head over heels in love with her. She is super social, wiggly, and friendly. She's also active and sweet. She thrills to a game of ball, bouncing happily across the play yard to fetch it and bring it back. And she is also a polite and respectful greeter in doggy playgroup. She was found loose and abandoned in a building, and so it is understandable that after her initial excitement about being found, rescued, and meeting new friends, she would also be confused, slightly anxious, and initially shy at the shelter. The Brooklyn Center is nothing if not overwhelming – loud, raucous, and full of strange smells, dogs and people. Lyrica needed a bit of time to acclimate, but she is rolling with it and blossoming in the care of staff and volunteers. Lyrica is a sensitive, sweet soul who has only love in her heart for everyone and you MUST watch her video (below) to see how incredibly focused she is on her human friends. She just wants love, attention, and comfort – she wants to be your best forever friend. Due to her initial shyness she would do best in an experienced home with no children under the age of 13. If you can foster or adopt this incredible big hearted beauty, don’t wait another minutes. PRIVATE MESSAGE our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance. Lyrica is your wiggly, Dreamgirl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WwHSHHErR0 LYRICA, ID # 38917, @ 2 Yrs. Old, 54.2 lbs. Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Tan, Unaltered Female I came to the shelter as a: Stray, 8/21/2018 Shelter Assessment Rating: New Hope Rescue Only Intake Behavior Rating: 2. Blue AT RISK NOTE: Lyrica was placed at risk due to behavior concerns due to the Environment. Due to observed behavior displayed at the care center, as Lyrica may avoid the handler. Other times Lyrica may (freeze, hard stare, lip lick, or body check the handler). We recommend Lyrica be placed with a Rescue Partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. Lyrica is healthy otherwise. INTAKE NOTES – DATE OF INTAKE, 8/21/2018: During intake Lyrica allowed the counselor to take her picture with no problems. The counselor was no able to collar Lyrica due to the fact she was excitable and jumping all over the counselor. SURRENDER NOTES – BASIC INFORMATION: Lyrica is a tan and white female dog that was found loose in the hallway of a building and was brought to the ACC as a stray. When first meeting the staff at the ACC Lyrica was friendly and outgoing. She allowed the counselor to pet her with no problems. Due to her arriving at the shelter as a stray, her prior history and behavior is unknown. SHELTER ASSESSMENT – DATE OF ASSESSMENT, 8/22/2018 Look:: 1. Dog's eyes are averted, ears are back, tail is down, relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor's cupped hands. Sensitivity:: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog's mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag:: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft. Paw squeeze 1:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw. Paw squeeze 2:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw. Toy:: 4. Dog freezes and/or growls. Summary: Lyrica allowed handling during her assessment. She was a bit distracted during the play portion, but not fearful. With the toy/treat items Lyrica can a bit rough,(tense, and quickly grabbing with a bit of pressure)No growling. Although it has not been noted, Lyrica displays the potential to resource guard with the handler(tense, hard stare). We cannot be certain whether any guarding or possessive behavior may appear in a home environment, but we recommend adopters be comfortable with safe management and modification of guarding behavior in case it does. PLAYGROUP NOTES – DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES: Lyrica was surrender as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown. Here at the Care Centers, Lyrica is nervous and takes time to feel confident in social interactions. She eventually solicits gentle play, and bounces around with another dog. The Behavior Department recommends that Lyrica be placed in a home with resident dogs that are respectful and matches her energy. All introductions should be done slowly and under supervision. Playgroup, 8/22: When off leash at the Care Centers, Lyrica nervously greets the novel male dog. She slowly moves away from him, displaying lip licks and whale eyes. When he returns to check in with her, she exchanges greets. Playgroup, 8/23: Lyrica was paired with a male dog that matches her energy. She continued to display nervous behavior when socializing with him. Playgroup, 8/24 Today Lyrica appeared much more confident, interacting socially with a male dog that match her energy. She did not hide today, but instead engaged in a very short burst of running chase play. Playgroup, 8/25- 8/27: In a group of playful male and juvenile female dogs, Lyrica greets with a bouncy, wiggly body. She solicits play with bows and chin over, and can be somewhat assertive. INTAKE BEHAVIOR - Date of intake:: 8/21/2018. Summary:: Allowed all handling MEDICAL BEHAVIOR - Date of initial:: 8/23/2018. Summary:: Lyrica was hyperactive. ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Lyrica so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. In the care center Lyrica displayed low-medium energy. IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS: 8/21: When Lyrica was waiting in the lobby with the person that brought her into the Care Center, she was reactive to cats in their carriers as well as two young children. Lyrica remained focused on them, lunging and screeching at them all. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: NEW HOPE ONLY Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments:: No children: Due to Lyrica's, response to handling. We feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time. Place with a New Hope Partner: Due to observed behavior displayed in a the care center, as Lyrica may avoid the handler. Other times Lyrica may(freeze, hard stare, lip lick, or body check the handler). The behavior department recommends Lyrica be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Lyrica to acclimate comfortably to her new environment; force-free, reward based training only is advised when introducing Lyrica to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Lyrica presents with outside of the care centers. Potential challenges: : Fearful Potential challenges comments:: Fearful: Lyrica is initially timid with new people. She manages her stress well and has not escalated or shown any aggression, but she does need time to warm up to new people. She does best with a slow approach, and should be permitted to greet new people at her own pace and to initiate interaction (rather than being approached and pet immediately by a new person) so she has time to adjust and become comfortable before she is handled. She should be spoken to softly and gently.
