The King's last gift
Danny was tired, tired of being responsible for protecting the world. At first it was just Amity but the ghosts began to explore more and the halfa was exhausted. He was the only hero available and it was taking its toll.
He knew he couldn't go on like this, let alone with his coronation around the corner but he didn't know what else to do. He knew he couldn't interfere with the world after the crown was on his head. The world would fear him (maybe even more than now) and protecting them with so much power in hand could do more harm than good, but if he didn't protect them, who would?
His core ached at the thought of all those people begging for a hero who wouldn't come, so Danny took desperate measures, and cheated a little.
He visited Desiree; she watched him with a raised eyebrow, curious. And Danny did what he forbade long ago, he wished. He wished for the future and for humanity itself, he uttered the words he had wanted to say ever since he knew he would not be able to visit earth for a long time.
"I wish for the world to be safe even when I no longer live in it, I wish for there to be someone who can protect it, even if it's just a human."
Desiree blinked in surprise not expecting the King who had "forbidden" her to do such a thing. She smiled and nodded. Her power grew exponentially but neither she nor Danny said anything about it. The halfa would not undo that wish after all.
In New Jersey, Thomas and Martha Wayne were celebrating the birth of their son. Neither of them noticed the spark of magic entering the baby, nor the boy's unusually blue eyes. Bruce Wayne, the Ghost King's latest gift to mankind, had been born.
And years later, when the Justice League was formed and everyone was talking to each other, John Constantine looked at the dark knight curiously, wondering if he was aware that he was death's favorite.

“it was you. a little brother that looked up to him.”
“truth is, watching out for you? it’s kinda been my job, you know? but, more than that, it’s...it’s kinda who i am.”

Of course I don't have factual basis for this but I would be really surprised if there weren't ever instances of John spotting some guy flirting with Paul and then flipping out and scaring him off

Do you think Peter's ever accidentally saved famous people? Not just like superhero famous but regular celebrities.
Like, a lot of people headcanon that Peter is obsessed with Hamilton, and Broadway is literally in NYC. Do you think Peter's ever been in the middle of a supervillain fight and swung down to rescue someone, and once he'd gotten them to safety been like, Lin Manuel Miranda???????

So it seems like now you can submit questions for Mikoto on the app. Since Kotoko’s MV was delayed it seems we’re asking questions only to Mikoto. And that makes me think. Will Mikoto be answering the questions or John? Or perhaps both? I personally think it’ll be John answering this time so I want to ask some questions directed towards him.
“What do you think of Mikoto?”
“Do you think of yourself as human?”
“If Mikoto never existed, how would you be like?” or “If you could be separate from Mikoto, would you?” (So sorry if this one’s offensive I don’t know)
Yeah I kinda feel bad for asking extremely personal questions but John’s one of those characters we need a lot of information on. And if anyone has an account or something you could submit these or talk about other requests in the comments.

1) Three non-romantic duos: Hmmm...brotps I adore would be Jack and Daniel (SG-1), Sam and Daniel (SG-1), and Lune and Matsen (Jade Torch -- is it cheating to use my own book??? xD) If that's cheating, then Sam and Frodo (LotR).
2) A ship that might surprise others: I kinda ship Link x Mipha from BOTW. I like Zelda x Link too, but something about Link x Mipha is just so sweet and tragic. I like that they knew each other for a lot longer than Zelda and Link knew each other.
Let's be real. I don't have a lot of crazy ships. Although, in SG-1, I do ship Vala x Tomin (but I also like Vala x Daniel).
3) Last Song: Shackleton by Adam Young
4) Last Film: My parents and I watched Hitched for the Holidays last night. Very funny romcom with Joey Lawrence. It's a Hallmark movie from 2012, so just before they all got so unbelievably cookie cutter/copy+paste with their plots.
5) Currently reading: Operation Grendel by Daniel Schwabauer
6) Currently watching: The X-Files. I'm nearing the end of season 1. I've never seen it before, and I'm loving it!
7) Currently consuming: Coffee
8) currently craving: idk. I don't have a strong craving for anything right now.
Tagging @aceofstars16 @quiescentdragon @ryeillustrates @accidental-spice @jenniferbrincho (if any of y'all have already done it or already been tagged, my bad--my memory stinks 😅)

I don’t know where the Jacob and John have a rivalry theory comes from either, even before the Collapse DLC. I’ve only really seen it in fan fiction.
Could he just another fanon assumption you know?
I suppose it is, yes… I don’t think the idea of a rivalry between them is consistent with what The Book of Joseph says about their relationship, but it’s just my opinion, and not everyone has read the book.
John and Jacob never interact in the game so we don’t know for sure if they’re in conflict or not, but it really doesn’t look like they were about to “take each other down”, as Hurk said in that deleted line. The only “interaction” they have (aside from the look they exchange in the church at the beginning) is a note written by John saying he wanted Jacob to have Boomer because “this dog’s a champion”, so I guess they weren’t on bad terms.
People have also rightly pointed out that the brothers see the world a bit differently and that, maybe, that’s where the idea of possible discord between them stems from. Jacob believes it’s bad that we, as a species, have grown accustomed to the comfort of modern society because it’s made us weak and that we should “return to our natural selves”. Meanwhile, John seems more materialistic (on the surface, at least), owns a luxurious ranch, and doesn’t look like he’s ready to live in the wilderness...
That said, Jacob was obsessively “culling the herd” and looking for “strong” people because he was building an army… to protect the Family. Not every member of the Project can fight, and even if, by Jacob’s standards, John is possibly “weak”, that doesn’t necessarily mean he looks down on him. On the contrary, I like to think that the army he was training was meant to protect him too. Jacob made sure that his soldiers were the strongest they could be, so even after his death, he knew his brothers would be safe.

Davesprite, if you let Lil Cal possess you out of your own hubris, you're giving the anons (especially myself) a new thing to tease you about.
- ScAnon
(OOC: Let me ramble for a bit. Feel free to skip this if you don't wanna read it.
I think it makes perfect sense for Davesprite to refuse to show the Cal-o-meter. For one thing, it provides contrast to how John's Grimdarkness meter and Rose's Radiance meter were always there when it needed to be shown, which shows the difference in how Davesprite deals with his problems compared to the other two. For another thing, it shows his awareness as a sprite as meters are typically a video game mechanic. The fact that he hides it means he's probably using his spritely knowledge as a means of protecting himself and what he believes to be protecting others as well.
Okay, ramble over, back to funny shenanigans.)
TG: how many fucking times do i have to say it
TG: he isnt going to possess me
TG: you know why?
TG: because hes a stupid
TG: goddamn
TG: PUPPET
TG: and honestly if you goddamn anons werent constantly fucking 'teasing' me about shit then maybe i wouldnt have to hang out with a fucking puppet
TG: but here we fucking are i guess
TG: thanks for that assholes

Ghost is a walking dichotomy, Soap has discovered. He's watched him strip the layers of a man's skin away to get information from him, seen him snap someone's neck in as little time as it takes to take a breath. But he's also so capable of heartbreaking kindness. His genuine concern for the fish, the way he saves the best part of his plate for Soap; offering it to him with reverence. The way he's cleaning Johnny's wound so tenderly. It's in these moments of gentleness where Johnny almost forgets what they do, what they've seen, who they are.
So when Ghost's voice snaps into that serious tone it's almost like a slap in his dizzy, goofily smiling, face.
"Wha?"
"Where is it? I'll get rid of it for you." Under the sharp tone is still that lethal gentleness, and even under that is a shaking fear.
"Oh, oh Ghost." He shifts, uncomfortable in his skin and wanting to be anywhere but here. "Ye... Ye cannae get rid of it."
His Lieutenant draws back a little, a mix of apprehension and offense in his eyes.
"It hurt you, nothing else matters."
Soap can feel his heart splitting as his throat starts to burn. Ghost stares up at him with fiery eyes, hands still holding his wrist so so softly.
"Where is the snake Soap? I promise you it'll never hurt you again. Whoever brought it in is going to have hell to pay too." He earnestly promises and Soap feels a single hot tear slip out of his eye.
"Ghost..." He chokes out. "Simon... It's mine."
The small room goes silent. Nothing even dares to move but for the violent flinch the sentence rips out of Ghost.
He doesn't dare say anything, doesn't dare to move or even breathe. He looks down at Ghost and Ghost meets his stare with turmoil roiling in his gaze.
Soap doesn't know what he expected, screaming or sobbing or angry silence but the frantic confusion he can see in the other man is as far as can be from what he'd thought he'd get.
They sit there like that for a few long moments, each absorbed in his own thoughts, before Ghost slowly rises from his kneel. If Johnny were in better spirits he would tease him for the quiet cracks his knees make. And with that violent tenderness he slowly curls an arm around Johnny and leans him down into the bed, pressing behind him and holding him close just like they'd done on any number of frigid nights out in the blind. And they just sit there holding each other in silence as they slowly drift into a dreamless sleep.

I’m wondering... what if we’ve been interpreting Pyrrha’s observation backwards? What if the stoma didn’t react to John because of his connection to the Resurrection Beasts, but rather the other way around? This whole time they’ve been reacting to the Resurrection Beasts because of their connection to John, and by extension Alecto.
It’s been bugging me that the thing that possessed Colum Asht gave him eyes black as the Emperor’s, before it turned them to stoma in his head. It’s been bugging me even more that it only stomafied him after coming into contact with Gideon. His eyes were black until Gideon attacked him, and then they turned to mouths in his head. Whatever was in Colum tried to eat Gideon, like the stoma eat Resurrection Beasts.
Then there’s another thing that’s been bugging me. Why, out of the hundreds of thousands of planets that John and his Empire have killed, are there only nine Resurrection Beasts? Why can the minor beasts Harrow creates be killed by a half-realised baby lyctor with a sword, while the Resurrection Beasts are literally unkillable? They have to be flayed to their cores and then shoved through the mouth of hell, where we don’t know what happens to them. That’s not a difference in scale, it’s a difference in nature. The Resurrection Beasts are just as immortal as Gideon, and the stoma reach for them both the same.
John is the connecting factor. John, and the power he derives from Alecto. The power which created the Resurrection Beasts, and which Gideon inherited a part of. The stoma aren’t after the Resurrection Beasts, not really; they want John. They want Alecto, and the power that enabled the Resurrection that’s still embedded in the souls of the planets that died for it.
