Emma, the Sweetest and Best of Creatures
Emma is unlikable for a couple reasons, mostly her treatment of Miss Bates, but also because unlike the other heroines, her life seems charming at first glance. She is wealthy, she had devoted parents in both Mr. Woodhouse and Mrs. Weston, she had a massive home, and no need to marry. Most women of the era would kill for that deal, but they would not note the drawbacks that make Emma’s life both difficult and her forbearance admirable.
Emma devotes her entire life to the comfort of her father, going so far as to almost give up on marrying the love of her life because Mr. Woodhouse cannot stand it (She could not bear to see him suffering, Ch 55). She invites Mrs. and Miss Bates over to her home consistently because he likes them, even though she understandably cannot stand Miss Bates. She does everything she can to make sure he is not distressed, including not enjoying Christmas visits so she can referee her sister and brother-in-law (Ch 11). Her life is one of constant sacrifice to his eccentricities and she gets very little back out of the relationship, her father, “could not meet her in conversation, rational or playful” Ch 1.
Emma has nothing in her life beyond Hartfield and Highbury. Her sister lives only half a day’s journey away but she cannot visit her. She can walk to Donwell Abbey and yet hasn’t been there for two years (most likely on account of her father). It is understandable that she is bored, which has led to her meddling. But also understandable that she is loath to give up the very few female friends she has (I only want to keep Harriet to myself Ch 8) and why she gets annoyed with Miss Bates. She has no variety in her life or escape from her irritations.
Also, it is clear in the horrible chapter of the Box Hill visit that Emma made a mistake after having a terrible day. It took a lot for her to breech decorum and insult Miss Bates: the day was hot, no one was talking, Emma was annoyed that Mrs. Elton was invited, and Frank was egging her on. Normally, she is far more judicious when she speaks. I feel claustrophobic when I read that chapter, I’m shocked more of them didn’t slip.
I think it is also fair to ask ourselves why Emma is far more hated than Darcy, even though they share many traits. Both Darcy and Emma are snobby/arrogant, do not like being criticised, meddle in their friend’s love lives, are extremely generous to the poor and their servants (Mrs. Weston is an employee who Emma treats like family, Emma both visits the poor and sends an entire hindquarter of pork to the Bates), devoted to the care of their families, and are disgusted by associating with vulgar people. Yet Darcy is loved and Emma is hated, even by the end of the novel. Yes, Darcy apologises better and he saves Lydia, but he is a man and he has far more power than Emma ever will in this society.
I will admit, It is hard to accept how Emma treats Harriet at the end of the book and I do prefer the 2020 version where she apologises to Robert Martin, but I also think it is unrealistic. Emma has to operate within her allowable limits: she isn’t even on friendly terms with the Martins, she cannot visit them, she can’t send RM to London to meet Harriet. So Mr. Knightley does it instead. Because... for all of Emma’s wealth and power, she is still a woman in Regency England.
Emma: Faultless in spite of all her faults
(This message was approved by Mr. George Knightley)

Part two for the walking in on S/o changing? But with Ghostface, Leon, and Frank or Joey? Thank you for your lovely work <33
Absolutely. Didn't think a prompt I wrote while half asleep would be this popular. I actually did Joey on another one.
Accidentally walking in on their S/O Reader changing. SFW and NSFW.
Ghostface, Leon
Ghostface
You think this ass is going to knock?
Please.
He just walks right in.
Just doing his thing.
And leaves the door wide open.
"Hey baby I was thinking maybe we could go out tonight. I'd like to get-"
He finally looks up.
Oh.
Nice.
He'll do the whole wolf whistle.
Then make a bunch of really lewd comments.
If you tell him to leave, Danny will grumble and pout.
"Fine fine. It's not my fault you like to parade around naked."
He's an idiot.
Later, he's going to taunt you about it in public.
And God help you if you wear any thing that's cute.
"Yeah, I accidentally walked in on s/o changing. They have underwear with bunnies on them."
Don't take it to heart.
Instead, find something to humiliate him with.
Maybe his Halloween Micheal Myers boxers?
NSFW
He knows when you're changing now.
And uh, he's taking advantage of it.
He's all stealthy and sneaks in.
And he's really good at that.
He's also big on pretending to be an intruder.
Danny will sneak up behind you, cover your mouth with one hand, and hold his knife in the other.
"Well, this is what happens when you leave the door unlocked."
You know the drill.
He would never hurt you though.
"Now, take off the rest of those clothes."
There have been times when you've caught him in the act.
"Guess I got caught. You gonna punish me?"
Leon S Kennedy
This poor poor boy.
He doesn't even know you were changing.
And he's always so giddy to see you.
He runs up for a hug, not noticing the fact that you're nearly naked.
It's only when he wraps his arms around you that he figures it out.
Leon will pull away and stumble backwards.
He's so embarrassed.
First, he's going to throw his jacket at you so you can cover up.
"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to! I swear! It was a mistake!"
All while covering his eyes and blindly moving backwards to the door.
He's going to hit his head on the wall.
And still keep moving backwards.
Once more, he'll hit the wall before exiting the room and closing the door to guard it.
Bless his heart.
NSFW
He's a little more aware now.
But every once in a while his curiosity will get the better of him and he'll peek in.
He's actually pretty stealthy.
He's been trained by the best.
But there are times when he makes an effort to get caught.
"Oops. Sorry."
But he won't look away.
He's staring right at you.
Leon will make extra sure to close the door.
And lock it.
"Well, I guess I'll join you."
First he's taking off his shirt.
And he will flex.
Don't lie to yourself, he's hot as Hell.
Then his pants.
"You have too much on. Take it off, let me see that beautiful body."
He'll never force you.
However, when he's stressed, there are times when he's more demanding and feral.
"Take your damned clothes off."
He's waiting.

Kinktober day three
Edging with Frank Iero
This chapter is all about frank so readers gender really isn’t mentioned
Warnings!: none besides edging i think, frank being an anal virgin 💔 sorta short also its not proofread ive been at work all day
Sat on your knees between franks thighs is where you had spent the last 20 minutes, teasing him, you hadn’t even touched his cock yet. You wanted to see him desperate, broken even. His legs were shaking but this was his fault in the first Place, he made the bet and he was paying the price. The bet was that he could last an hour and a half without cumming while you teased him, he’s barley holding up after 20 minutes and he’s come close to cumming twice. Right now your hands were resting on his thighs and you were teasing him, telling him how pathetic he looked from your view and trying to keep his trembling under control with your hands. It wasn’t working.
“C’mon Frank seriously, you’re the one who raised the time thirty minutes because an hour was ‘too easy’.” You teased him, drawing air quotes with your fingers despite the whine that came from frank as your hands left him. “Okay- fuck you i can do this.” He spat, his teeth clenched and his head fell back as you palmed him through his pants. “You haven’t even let me take your pants off.” You reminded, tugging at one of the belt loops. “Sh- just shut up.” He scrambled to take his jeans off, you were surprised they didnt have a wet spot on them by now, his boxers sure did though.
When they got to his thighs you helped him, taking them off completely and throwing thwm behind you as you go to work. You could see the outline of his cock through the now soaked boxers, it made you laugh to yourself a little as you drug your finger up the side of it. He whined as you did so, trying to keep his hips still. “You know what happens if you fail this right?” You queried, moving your hands to his knees to rest as you looked up at him. “You are not- fucking me!” He half yelled half whined as you squeezed his cock. “This relationship is supposed to be equal Frank, you should let me do the fucking sometime. I think i know, i think You’re afraid You’re gonna cum too soon.” You teased as you released your grip on his cock and tried to reach your hand into his boxers but you couldn’t before frank grabbed your hand and called you out for cheating.
“No- im not gonna cum too soon that’s ridiculous.” He shot back, putting the hand you tried to get into his boxers with on his knee. “Then…maybe you’re just a coward!” You replied, a little teasing edge on your voice as you looked up to him seeing him glare at you. “Oh my god, are you a virgin?” You asked in awe, moving your hands back to his thighs once again. “What- no? we’ve had sex multiple times.” He replied fidgety, you didnt know if it was Because of the lack of attention or because he just got caught red handed. you cut him off again. “Oh my god! You are! Wow that makes so much sense, now im really gonna win this bet.” You smirked at the end of your sentence moving your hands back to his cock.
“By the way, hours up its time to take your boxers off honey.” You chuckled as you watched him begrudgingly take his boxers off, it took everything you had to not jump him as soon as they were down enough to show his cock. Instead you waited patiently before doing your part and throwing them behind you. You got to work quickly, you were set on winning now. Frank watched nervously as you leaned closer to his cock, slowly wrapping your lips around the tip before sucking it softly, just trying to get a whine out of him. You hummed around him, knowing he loved the way the vibration felt against his cock, that got a moan out of him quickly.
“That has to be cheating!” He yelled as his voice cracked at the end to which you just shot him a look telling him to shut up while you worked. He listened but you could tell he wasnt very happy about it, it didnt last long before he got distracted as you took him into your mouth a bit more. You brought one of your hands up to squeeze his base as you worked on the rest. He was trying his hardest not to crack and he knew you could tell, you smirked to yourself mentally praising yourself as you felt him squirm his noises growing in volume.
You loved his noises, you could make a album out of them and listen to them on loop. All it took was you running your tounge under the tip of his cock for him to release into your mouth with a strangled groan before falling back onto the bed, obviously aware he lost the bet. You swallowed before getting up from your knees and crawling over frank to press a kiss to his jaw. “You’re gonna be really mad when i tell you, you only has five minutes left.” You laughed as he pushed you away, you fell to the side of him before kissing his face again. “Thats not fair.” He groaned, looking in your direction. “All’s fair in love and war.”

How would you rate each version of Duncan from the Dune series and of his love/shipping interests whom do you think he had the best and worst compatibility/chemistry with?
Oh i love you for this question because i've been making silly little rankings in my head for YEARS and you just gave me a reason to unleash them in the wild
So, when it comes to Duncan i think the first thing you gotta take in mind is that his original version had a thing for lady jessica (love or whatever), and it's implied in some of his other relationships that she's always there in the back of his mind somehow.
Duncan and Alia: okay let's start with the one that irks me the most. Alia is my daughter, my beloved, my everything and i hate that she had to be overshadowed by her mother even during her marriage. but it's not jessica's fault, it's stupid duncan that saw jessica in alia, and someone even told him at some point. i don't remember who, i think it was jessica herself??? also you're a psychic living computer whatever HOW can you not see that your wife is being possessed by an evil presence. GOD. i'm obsessed with the tragedy of alia and i loved those scenes when duncan realized she was gone and he started crying ugh. chef kiss. very shakespearean if you will, but yeah Alia deserved a better companion so i'd rate this a 4/10 at best. four points for the tragedy and nothing more
Duncan and Hwi: 0/10. -1183948/10. this is the worst. not even tragedy can save this mess of a ship. hell it wasn't even a ship it was just wrong. poor hwi was paired with the worst men ever and then died??? wtf!! that was terrible for women in general. Not to mention god-emperor duncan is the worst duncan of them all i hate him so much you have no idea. he was a sexist homophobic dumb piece of shit and i hate that he survived and probably died peacefully with siona. also something tells me his encounter with hwi wasn't very consensual you know? maybe the way it was written was ambiguous, but i got the feeling she wasn't really sure of it and it did nothing for the plot, it made no sense. just a bad vibe in general
Duncan and Siona: meh, we don't see much of them, we just know eventually they got together and had a lot of babies and saved the atreides. i've always felt like siona was a half written character, we saw her in the beginning and she's a fearless rebel with a mind of her own, but then in the end she succumbs to the insanity of leto II's grand scheme of things and she seems more like a puppet in his hands. i don't know i'd rate this a 3/10 just because we don't see much and i think they were forced by the events and nothing more. P.S: i would have to look on the dune encyclopedia for more details, maybe they actually liked eachother like ghani and farad'n but i'm not sure
Duncan and that Jessica pseudo clone: they are mentioned briefly in god-emperor i think and it proves once again that this man had un unhealthy obsession for jessica (an assumption based on the fact i don't like him and jessica didn't either. stay with me you know i'm right). but yeah they were happy i guess??? i'm sure if some guy resembling duke leto showed up that jessica lookalike would have dropped duncan's ass in one millisecond though. 6/10
Duncan and Murbella: oh we really are in it aren't we. now THIS is a fucked up relationship. they get a higher score because she's as fucked up as him, and i appreciate equality. But hell duncan and murbella are insanity at the highest level. She imprinted on him when he was a teen and he reverse imprinted on her and they got stuck in a weird sexual curse???? peak madness i just. i don't even know what to say, if i didn't read god-emperor before heretics i would have said this is the most insane thing frank herbert did in these books. but anyway, we actually get to see a little more of their relationship (or maybe situationship, i don't even know what to call that thing they had) in chapterhouse, they are addicted to eachother and made a ton of babies for the bene gesserit. i would say there's tragedy in them as well and even though i know they dynamics that got them stuck together is not healthy and ok and they are by far the weirdest pairing in the entire six books, i'll be honest i was saddened when murbella eventually choose the bene gesserit over him. the scene when she's going through the ritual to become a bg and he's desperate to lose her might have moved something in me. idk. i give them a pass because they are fictional and weird, but overall they are a solid 8/10 to me. and i appreciate the fact that duncan was finally able to have feelings for someone who didn't have 95% of lady jessica's genotype
Duncan and Sheeana: meh. they were meant to be according to the bene gesserit plan, and they did seem to have some sort of bond in chapterhouse. but i don't know, i feel like they were two kids manipulated by the bene gesserit in different ways, and nothing more. But since the saga is incomplete, i'm sure the final book was supposed to explore their dynamic as well. i would say 5.5/10 for the potential (sheeana was super cool on her own and i like to think they could have joined forces to take down the bene gesserit and fall in love while they were at that. but it's all in my head so idk.)
i'm at the end of this long ask and i realized you asked me to rate Duncans and not his relationships. oh well (i had a drawing planned for that years ago). my apologies
Original Duncan: 10/10. bestest boy. gone too soon. he was one respectful king
Messiah Duncan: you know what despite everything I DO LIKE THIS DUNCAN. 9/10 bc he has cool metal eyes and he's very similar to the original Duncan in a lot of ways. should have treated alia better though.
God-Emperor Duncan: get this fucker out of my sight. 0/10.
Heretics baby Duncan: just a baby. an innocent soul. my son. you deserved to live a happy life with your adoptive dad Miles. 8.5/10
Chapterhouse Duncan: a pathetic loser trapped in a toxic situationship with a computer inside his head. he did try his best let's be honest. also a skinny legend. 8/10

Can I get a fic using 7. " She had a way of making you see things differently" and 39. "You tell me how it’s your fault and I’ll tell you how you’re wrong"
Title: Mourning Period
Word Count: 1471
Warnings: Thoughts of suicide/drinking (!!! also major spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched judgement day part 1/2 !!!)
Pairings: GibbsxReader, (past GibbsxJenny)
A/N: for purposes of causing the most pain possible, let's just pretend diane and macy were dead before all of this.
He didn't know what to do, his brain was spinning in circles as he stepped around the room. He didn't dare touch anything, didn't dare breathe too hard for fear of his own scent overpowering hers. Her jacket was still draped over the bak of her chair, the fabric was soft between his fingers as he ran his hands over them. It had been a week. 7 days. 168 hours. 10,080 minutes. 604,800 seconds. Vance was moving in his stuff tomorrow. He hadn't let him sit in the chair, or at the desk, just at the conference table.
He also couldn't sit. At least not on the furniture. He found a corner beside the liquor cabinet that seemed suitable enough. Liquor and guns never mixed, and yet at the moment he had both. One in one hand and one in the other. Both of them were targeted for his head. He chose the drink first, keeping the gun close, just in case the alcohol didn't work. He drowned himself in the memories and the feelings and the touches. All the stolen glances and conversations that went on longer than they should have. All the knowing smiles and unknowing ones too. He never really loved any of his wives after Shannon. But he loved Jenny Shepard. He had always loved her, and he always would.

"Gibbs, breathe." You handed him a glass of water. You had come back to the office late to drop off a small box of Jenny's things that she had left at your apartment. Her house had had to be fumigated about a year ago and she had never gotten around to picking them up. The funeral was today and you figured it was time. While you were in the office, you spotted your boss sitting in the corner on the floor, a bottle and a half of scotch completely gone. "It's ok, it's gonna be ok." Now you were sitting next to him, the alcohol far out of reach, instead a glass of water and two aspirin took its place. You had also noticed his service weapon tucked in his lap, unloaded, the magazine sitting on the table in front of you. You didn't want to think about why he had it, so instead you focused your attention on him.
"I miss 'er," he slurred, head against the wall. "Loved 'er."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Mhm. She was erey' thing. Franks told me she still had feelin's. Shoulda been there. Shoulda saved 'er. Not Tony or Ziver's fault. My fault."
You sighed, reaching over to take his hand to stop him shaking. "You tell me how it's your fault and I'll tell you how you're wrong."
"My fault cause I shoulda told 'er I felt the same. Never stopped lovin' Jenny."
"I know. She was my best friend, I know."
"She ever talk 'bout me? Did ya' know?"
You gulped. She had, quite a lot actually, but you weren't sure if that was going to help the situation or make it worse. You tapped your glass a few times, thinking, before you answered. "She did. Sometimes she complained about how you never listened, but then she would tell some story and you were always the part she smiled at."
"Shoulda' told her."
"She knew."
"Then why the hell didn't she do somethin' 'bout it?"
"Probably the same reason you didn't."
You watched the way he stared at her desk. You had seen that look often, when he stared at Ziva's desk. Even though she was a great addition to the team, he missed Kate. It was also the same look he got on a single day of the year, the day Shannon and Kelly had been killed. He had loved and lost so many times you weren't sure if there was any love left for him to give.
"What was she like?" You asked. "Before I met her, before I met you. Paris."
"She had a way of making ya' see things different. We could be lookin' at a case file, I got one idea and she always had the right one. Not even that, jus' any situation she could turn 'round. I's half empty, she'd always be half full."
"What happened between you two?"
"She left." He stated plainly. The drinks had certainly gone to his head and part of you felt like asking him questions that he wouldn't like sober was wrong, but you needed him to talk. He needed to talk. He wanted to talk. "Didn't fit into her picture perfect plan. Too many loose ends, a liability." He finally knocked back the pain medicine you had set down for him.
"Is that what you think you are? A liability?"
"Why ya' ask that?"
You shrug. "I figure a self respecting, half-decent, Marine doesn't drink himself silly with a gun sitting three feet away unless he plans do to something to himself."
"Not gonna do anythin'."
"You know, for someone who's a great interrogator, you're not very good at lying." You gently laid your head on his shoulder. "Why do you think you're not good enough? I see it in your eyes all the time. When you're bossing us around, you seem like the biggest guy out there; when you sit at your desk and just look at us all, being silent Gibbs, you look like you're thinking. Like you're afraid to say the wrong thing. You don't believe in yourself."
"Everyone I love dies, Y/N. Everyone that loves me is dead."
"And why do you think that?"
"Shannon, Kelly, Kate, Diane, Macy, now Jenny?"
"You think those are the only people that love you? What about our team? Abby, Ziva? Me?"
"Don't love me like they did. Not like Jen. Miss 'er."
"I miss her too."
"Why didn't ya' save her?"
You had momentarily forgotten the fact that he was drunk and probably suicidal but the question made you realize just how much he was hurting right now. It was true, it was your fault. Well- not really your fault, you had agreed with Ziva but Tony had insisted that everything was fine and the Director could take care of herself. You shook yourself out of your head and went back to Gibbs. "You need to get home, or at least off the floor." You put his arm over your shoulder, doing your best to lift him off the ground. You made it a few steps over to the couch and helped him down. "I'll stay if you want me to. If you'd rather be alone.." You bit your lip, not really liking the idea of leaving him alone in this state. Before you could stay, a single word slipped from his lips.
"Stay."
"Ok.." You grabbed a blanket from the bottom drawer in Jenny's desk, draping it over the both of you. You wanted tea but that would mean leaving the room, and Gibbs. You counted the seconds as the clocked ticked and ticked and ticked.
The next time you looked over, his eyes were closed and his breathing had steadied. You were sore for sitting for so long and you decided getting yourself a cup of coffee would be helpful. You stood up and took a few steps but before you could get past him, he snagged the hem of your shirt.
"Huh?" You turned around.
"Wanna talk."
You nodded, understanding. "I'm going to use the restroom and get some water. You want water or a coffee?"
"Coffee. Black."
"Ok. I'll be back." You patted your hip to make sure his gun was still there next to your own.
The office was dark. Even the janitors had gone home and there was no flashlight of any of the night officers to be seen. The only light was that from the vending machines. You filled up his cup with coffee and yours with water and grabbed you each a chocolate bar. You took your time walking back upstairs, just trying to give your boss some space. You missed Jenny like hell but you had a different way of dealing with it. Instead of crying about it, you blocked it out. You clicked open the door, expecting to see Gibbs in the chair. Instead, he was curled up on the couch reading a magazine.
"You look better," you say.
"Just because I look better doesn't mean I am."
"Here." You hand him the coffee and situated yourself on the couch next to him. "I'm gonna get some sleep if you don't mind. Jenny always let me sleep on her couch when I didn't want to go home. You can stay if you want."
"Yeah."
You stayed like that for a minute or two in awkward silence when you felt tears welling at your eyes. You hadn't cried when Jenny was shot, you hadn't cried at the funeral earlier today, you couldn't remember the last time you cried, and yet here you were. About to cry. Crying. "Gibbs." you whisper. Nothing else needed to be said.
He pulled you down on the couch next to him and let you lay down, your head on his chest and his arm around you. He placed a gentle kiss on your forehead. If you didn't have each other, you weren't really sure what either of you would do. "Thank you, Y/N. Need you right now."
"I think…" you trail off, "I think I need you too."

Hi Goose! I’ve got a series of questions for you regarding Jodie (both with Woods and without)
1) How did Jodie come to terms about liking Woods, especially because of all the shit she went through?
2) Does Jodie have any addictions? Could range from like alcohol to being a workaholic.
3) How does Woods change Jodie for the better?
4) What are the most toxic parts in Woods and Jodie’s relationship? Do they argue a lot? Have they ever broken up?
5) What would make Jodie happy?
6) How does she cope (both negatively and positively) after the brainwashing?
Hello there, Liberty!! These are some good questions >:)
I'll get straight into it <3
1) How did Jodie come to terms about liking Woods, especially because of all the shit she went through?
She really struggled to come to terms with it in the beginning, like she was in denial that these feelings were genuine and were reciprocated with any conditions. She'd been physically attracted to him for a long time, even during the campaign, but when the memories of her past came flooding back, the feelings she had became tainted. They were tainted with that worry that he was only getting close with her because it was his job, not because he actually genuinely had feelings himself. So when she returns to the CIA after everything that happened, she becomes closed off again, fighting these feelings and refusing to acknowledge that there is genuine potential for a healthy-ish (cause they're not perfect so it's not perfect) relationship.
When it finally starts to happen, though, is when she realises that Frank still treats her how he did before it all came to light about who she was. He'd would have had his struggles coming to terms with that himself, but it's not her fault, and he would make sure she knew that he saw her no differently. She was still Jodie. She was the one who chose to help them. She was still the woman that he met in that safe house and no one and nothing could convince him otherwise, past or person.
I think that's the point when she lets herself come to terms with how she feels because it's... he's not lying. He gains nothing from it, there's no conditions. She felt wanted, for real, and it was hard not to cave in to it.
2) Does Jodie have any addictions? Could range from like alcohol to being a workaholic.
So, she's addicted to cigarettes definitely. She needs the nicotine to calm her nerves. She can be a workaholic - she felt like she was useless unless she worked, whether that was for Perseus, Adler and now currently the CIA. After all, in her mind, she had no other purpose than to be a tool for the CIA against the Perseus faction, given her previous affiliation.
Frank and Alex helped her out with that, made her come to some understanding that, you know, you're one of us. They also told Hudson and Adler to back off, she's only human, after all, not a fucking machine.
It get's her quite sick at times.
3) How does Woods change Jodie for the better?
I had to spend a few days mulling this over because at first I had that knee-jerk reaction of 'oh fuck' because it's such a good question and I hadn't put much thought into this aspect of them.
SO! I think it's quite simply that he'd change her outlook on trusting herself. There's aspects of her that has such an internalised mistrust and fear of herself, based on the fact that she used to be affiliated with Perseus and that she can't fully recall her past; there's parts of it that are clouded with brain fog, due to the brainwashing, and she just can't trust if what she remembers of herself is right. Can she say that she always intended to give Perseus up or is that an implanted memory? Can she say that she never wanted to do what Perseus asked or is she misremembering? Was she actually the kind of person that enjoyed hurting people in his name? And at times she convinces herself that she is, in fact, some monster that relished in the suffering of others, that loved the idea of destroying half the world.
She'll dive into this pit of guilt and it leads her to not trust herself with certain people etc. To begin with, she couldn't win this fight on her own, but Frank, in his own way, has his own guilt for his own reasons and can recognise that kind of internal conflict. Fuck, he's been there, done that and got the fucking t-shirt. He's not some therapist, but he'd probably work with her, talk it out, do something because he can't bear to see her fight herself over shit that's in her head.
Having someone consistently remind you of who you are, remind you to fucking trust yourself... yeah, he'd have helped her to fight that demon, urging her into a better version of herself so that, eventually, the demon might not raise it's head as much as it used to.
This issue is most prevalent when she has Ashley and Frank, yeah, helps her change her outlook there, too.
4) What are the most toxic parts in Woods and Jodie’s relationship? Do they argue a lot? Have they ever broken up?
Hmm, their bad arguments can get pretty heated. These kinds of arguments are far and few between, but when they happen they can be explosive. Usually it'll be because of a miscommunication or something like that.
They once had an argument bad enough that Jodie locked him out of the flat she was living in and refused to talk to him. But that's because she thought he had undermined her and went behind her back to discuss her skill and position in the team, when that wasn't the case, Hudson just can't emote for shit and fucking stirred the pot.
I wouldn't say they have super toxic traits within the relationship, nothing that would be a red flag, but of course they have their rough patches.
Also, they haven't broken up. They are stuck with each other whether they like it or not.
5) What would make Jodie happy?
Hmm, two things.
Hunting down Keith Wells to the ends of the earth and then putting him through the same amount of pain he did her. (Spoiler: she does this and he deserves everything he has coming to him.)
2. Living out the rest of her days with her family, growing old and just keeping that little circle of three safe and happy. Yeah, she gets her happy ending and will do anything to keep it safe.
6) How does she cope (both negatively and positively) after the brainwashing?
Right, so this is a healing process with Jodie; to begin with she doesn't cope with the knowledge of being brainwashed very well. She's angry, upset, confused, betrayed, a whole lot of emotions. In the initial moments of being told, she probably goes through the seven stages of grief in 0.5 seconds flat, which is intense. She actually contemplates not telling the truth, a small whim of spite urging her to sabotage everything Adler and his team had done to try and get to Perseus, not because she wants to protect the man or the faction, but because she wanted to fuck Adler over.
But, she knows that she'd regret doing that, so she doesn't.
After that, the initial months wouldn't be kind to her; she'd have brain fog, headaches, nausea - all the physical side effects of recovering from whatever they did to her. She'd really struggle coping with these, probably not eating properly due to lack of appetite, lack of sleep, nightmares etc. She'd also throw herself into work as though she's some sort of machine because her self worth is 'I am only useful when I am helping them', them being the CIA, Hudson etc.
With help and time, she would start to use strategies to cope. One way is the puzzle book - it keeps her mind busy, doesn't allow her to settle on silence for too long to allow thoughts to come in. She would still work, but she would make sure that her work is quality rather than quantity; whatever missions she gets, whatever work she does, she won't just churn out her skills for the sake of it. She puts a lot of meaning back into her actions because she now has the choice to do so. It would be her way of throwing away this idea that she was only useful when controlled.
(I struggle to explain my thoughts on this but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say!!)
-----
Thank you for this ask!!! It was a big one but I really enjoyed writing this response. There was a lot to think about and I just- yeah, I had a lot of fun ;u; <3

a/n: this is yet another match trade with @kamesama !! this time for jujutsu kaisen 😆 i knew immediately who i wanted to match you with so i hope you enjoy !! for some reason, i feel like we’re gonna match each other w the same person lolol. anyways, here we go !!
jujutsu kaisen
i match you with NANAMI KENTO 💛
Tumblr media
you + nanami live a very peaceful, domestic life. think: morning sunlight streaking through your blinds, white sheets, arms wrapped around your middle and a sharp intake of breath in your ear while he wakes up. makes you coffee e v e r y s i n g l e m o r n i n g. you guys learned how to roast coffee beans together at home so you could make coffee the exact way you wanted it. even if you have different tastes —like if you like light roast + he prefers dark roast, he will always roast it your preference. he’ll deal with a lighter mouth feel if it means he can hear you sigh happily as you grip your mug after your first sip.
you work extremely well together because you are both animals of routine. the work day is reserved for work/study + evenings are reserved for quality time. nanami will never ever miss a night in with you, or a night out with you for that matter. but, let’s be honest, it is mostly nights in. nights spent making dinner together with soft, lighthearted + romantic music playing in the background. playfully bumping your hips or shoulders against each other + pouring just a bit too much wine in your glasses.
nanami really appreciates the outspoken yet humble side of you. he finds comfort in someone who can speak their mind but also someone who isn’t too proud to admit when their at fault. you two rarely ever fight or argue because of your level headedness, although sometimes you can feel just a bit begrudged when nanami is too frank when talking to you about something you may have done to bother him. it ends well, though, and all’s well that ends well.
nanami is the strongest partner you could ever ask for. many people don’t think nanami an empath, but he easily is! he will comfort you when you’re down + in need of some reassurance. he will fight for you when you’ve been wronged. he will tell you the hard truths + give you that tough but much needed advice when you’re perplexed about something. he’ll laugh + celebrate with you when you’re excited about something! his soul will weep when you’re sad. but most of all, he will love you more than he loves himself + then some, when maybe you’re not loving yourself so much.
…and don’t you dare forget that nanami absolutely loves when you get a bit crazy. he’ll sit back with a soft smile and half lidded eyes, listening to you ramble on about something you’re passionate about or watching as you zoom around all excited. you brighten his life, you really do, and he couldn’t imagine himself with anyone else.

It has been far too long since we've talked about LOC. Do you have any info on how Frank and Bill met in this little verse and maybe what ends up happening with them?
Tumblr media
Thanks for a Legend of Charro question! I miss my wild west universe.
I should point out in this universe, both Bill and Frank were older than Tess and Joel. They probably had 10 years on them.
Bill was one of the earliest inhabitants of Black Creek and had a pretty sour reputation. He drank a lot, he argued a lot, and he spent a good deal of time sleeping off hangovers in lock-up. However, he was also known for being honest to a fault and he worked his ranch tirelessly.
But his ranch was not entirely successful and it was a pretty hardscrabble existence out there. He was lonely too, closeted dismissive of anyone who even wanted to be his friend. He was married briefly when he first settled in the Black Creek area but she took off after a few months and nobody has seen her since.
Frank came years later, crossing the continent in a perilous journey and seeking his fortune out west. Frank was the only one of his group to make it so far and by the time he trespassed on Bill's land he was half-starved, sunburned and exhausted. Bill threatened him with a shotgun: "Black Creek's that fuckin' way."
Like the show, Frank didn't leave right away. He had a meal and stayed the night, and then another night and another, and for awhile it seemed like Bill had a ranch hand he could tolerate (and more!) But faced with those kind of feelings and disbelieving that someone as cheerful and kind as Frank could seriously care for him, Bill ended up chasing Frank out with bad moods and general unpleasantness.
Frank set himself up on a smaller plot on the other side of Black Creek and he and Bill didn't talk for awhile. They were off and on over the years - everyone sort of knew about them - but it was not smooth sailing and they spent more time apart than together.
By the time Bandit Tess resurfaced they were back together though, and actually working through their issues. After the story they stay in the area and finally merge their ranches. Bill eases off the drink and doesn't have any more benders in the lock-up under Sheriff Tommy. They get their happy ending.

so i watched a movie called Half Nelson last night, for which Ryan Gosling was nominated for an Oscar in 2006. it's about a middle school teacher struggling with a drug addiction who forms a deeply inappropriate relationship friendship with one of his students after she catches him using.
i have no pertinent craft thoughts about this film (you can read my Ryan Gosling Summer craft essays in this month's newsletter) but my notes for this particular movie became as unhinged as the movie itself, and i thought i'd share them.
because my handwriting is mostly illegible, i've provided a translation and context below each note.
Tumblr media
Jesse Pinkman vibes
Calculator watch!
Dan (Gosling) is basically a proto Jesse Pinkman in this movie. and he wears a calculator watch. it's worth noting that during the sex scene later, there is an inordinate amount of attention placed on said watch, and i honestly can't tell if that's supposed to be funny or not.
Tumblr media
Gets high, goes to a bar, starts lecturing girls about pedagogy
this is the only part of the movie where i liked Dan, because i too lecture on pedagogy when i'm high.
Tumblr media
Broken Social Scene ass soundtrack
just found out that Broken Social Scene did in fact score the film.
Tumblr media
"I cleaned up," he says before railing a line of cocaine
no context needed.
Tumblr media
"Are you a communist?"
"It's just not cool to be a Nazi anymore, baby."
HE IS GRINDING AGAINST HER AT A DANCE?
I trust Anthony Mackie way more than this fucker
Bloody nose in class
Dead cat?
This is so hard to watch.
i don't know how to provide context for this. i had such profound secondhand embarrassment that i could barely keep watching. the succession of events goes something like: Dan has sex with a woman who asks him the next morning if he's a communist. they have a conversation about politics. we skip to a middle school dance/mixer where Dan dances very inappropriately with the 13 year old he's "befriended," Drey. by this point the movie makes it very clear that their relationship is inappropriate. Dan gets high behind the school building and offers to give Drey a ride home, but she goes with Frank (Anthony Mackie) who is a drug dealer but a way better guy than Dan, even though he's trying to get her to sell drugs for him. Frank is trying to save Drey from Dan; Dan is trying to save Drey from Frank. the next day, Dan gets a nosebleed in class and later comes home to find his cat dead? for some reason? i don't know. it's all so painful.
Tumblr media
[a graph of Ryan Gosling's characters, with bad to good as the X-axis and likable to unlikable as the Y-axis. Dan Dunne, the character in this movie, is in the "good, unlikable" quadrant.]
to pass the time i created this handy little chart, which puts Ken (Barbie) and Lars (Lars and the Real Girl) in the likable/good quadrant, with K (Blade Runner 2049) and Noah (The Notebook) slightly below them, Sierra Six (The Gray Man) and Dean (Blue Valentine) in the likable/bad quadrant, Jacob Palmer (Crazy Stupid Love) in the bad/unlikable quadrant (sorry i know i have followers who love this movie but womanizing just really pisses me off, even though he does grow as a character by the end), and Dan Dunne (Half Nelson) in the good/unlikable quadrant, even though i kind of changed my mind by the end of the movie.
i forgot Handsome Luke (Place Beyond the Pines) and the driver (Drive), but i think they'd both be close to the center but in the bad/likable quadrant.
Tumblr media
For all this movie's faults, burnout drug addict middle school teacher Ryan Gosling pouring an entire pot of coffee into a thermos is a LOOK.
this scene had very little context and i have none to add.
Tumblr media
[Ryan Gosling movie] checklist
shirtless
mommy issues
misunderstood loner
falls for cute blonde girl (CBG)
good guy made to do bad things
inappropriate relationship
still bored, i made a checklist. Ryan Gosling's characters are always at least three of these, with "shirtless" and "mommy issues" prevailing. also "cute blonde girl" isn't a description as much as a flat character type that fascinates me.
Tumblr media
HE BUYS FROM HER WTF WTF WTF
okay during what i found to be a both boring and torturous film, a scene happens that made me go "oh, i get why he was nominated for an Oscar for this." Frank has gotten Drey to start selling for him, and she goes to a motel to drop off, where she finds two sex workers, some random guy, and her history teacher, Dan. this is the third time she's caught him using but he's always kind of guilty and apologetic about it, and my interpretation is that a lot of their "friendship" has to do with him trying to earn back her admiration. but this time, he's on the bathroom floor and he just gives her this look, the patented Ryan Gosling "i'm in love with you" look which is probably why he's the romantic lead in so many things, and hands her a wad of cash. and it's so wildly fucked up to see that look used in this context, weaponized, because it's not to her, it's to the baggie she's holding.
the whole movie is very much a critical commentary on white savior narratives. i have no idea if it's a successful commentary, or even if it's a good movie, but i can safely say i've never seen anything like it. i don't think it's aged well, overall i don't think it's Gosling's best performance even though many people believe it is, and i absolutely don't recommend it.

i just want everyone to know that this one is @shittygaypornmagazinedotcom 's fault, i just don't know how to say no to my spouse
He stared at the glinting bronze scales of the dragon. Objectively, he knew he wasn't going crazy. But he felt like he was.
A slight figure stood next to the dragon, patting its leg and yelling something up at it. Hazel had her hands over her mouth. She looked close to crying. Reyna looked livid, muttering curses under her breath. The crowd of Roman legionnaires had more or less dispersed, and Lavinia, as curious as ever, stayed behind. She turned to look at Frank, who was still staring at the small person near the dragon, and asked, "So that's the Leo guy who didn't really die?"
He nodded, numb. He was still very much confused. He'd seen his legion smack the living daylights out of Valdez, and his fingers were itching to do the same.
Finally, Leo turned and ran towards them, a grin on his face. A lump of emotions tossed and turned in Frank's chest, somersaulting and spinning. He couldn't name the feelings, but he knew they were there. He didn't know what to do with them.
As soon as Leo neared, Hazel threw herself at him, sobbing. She beat his chest weakly and cursed him. He smiled slightly and hugged her, whispering in her ear. She relented her grip on him, and Leo edged towards Reyna. Frank's fellow praetor didn't hesitate: she aimed a kick right at his crotch. While he yowled in pain, she grabbed him by the ear and started berating him in rapid Spanish.
"You have some nerve to just show up!" she shouted. "We've all been worried sick!"
"Okay, okay, okay!" he squeaked, squirming. She finally let go of him, and he stepped as far away from her as he could. "What is up with you people? I had just as rude a greeting as this back at Camp Half-Blood. I came to say hi, but I've also been sent to tell you something!"
Frank saw the urgent gleam in Leo's eyes as he said this. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good. Perhaps something to do with all the panic and frenzy surrounding the sun god of late? The lump in his chest grew.
Leo made eye contact with him and grinned. Frank felt funny.
"If I come next to you, Zhang, will you beat me up?" Leo posed the question jokingly, but saw the fear in his eyes. Was it because he thought Frank would seriously hurt him? Or maybe ...
Frank remembered Leo mentioning foster homes, many of them, jumping from one to the other in hopes of a home. Many were abusive. Leo hadn't really said this, but it had been implied. Frank could only imagine that this brought back memories of past beatings. As much as he wanted to slap him for the worry of the past months, was he really gonna stoop so low as to hit a boy who's only ever known abuse?
"Nah," Frank replied. "At least, not yet."
The look in the other boy's eyes eased and he skipped over next to Frank. He looked at him seriously and said, "I really do have a lot to tell you. It's been a crazy few months."
Fear gripped Frank suddenly. "Are — are you gonna go away again? We just got you back. We can't lose you again." I can't lose you again, he almost said.
Leo eyed him strangely. "Well, I'm not gonna stay here forever. I'll stay a while, though. I'm tired." He shot a look at Reyna. "Is that okay?"
All of Reyna's anger had evaporated, and she started to look incredibly guilty. "Of course you can," she reassured him hastily. She looked him up and down. "I didn't hurt you too badly, did I?"
Leo recognised the tone in her voice and grinned. "Oh, you've wounded me fatally! How shall I ever recover?" he claimed dramatically. Hazel laughed a little. Lavinia was still noting all the goings-on with a keen eye.
Reyna sighed at his dramatics. "I'm sorry, okay? We — we missed you, and we were really worried. You broke our hearts with that explosion, Valdez. We thought you really were a goner."
Leo rolled his eyes affectionately. "Apology accepted, especially since that's probably the only apology I'll ever get out of you in this lifetime. Who's this one?" he asked, looking at Lavinia.
"That's Lavinia," Hazel said.
"Want some gum?" Lavinia offered. Reyna looked ready to smack her own head repeatedly against a wall.
"Oh, sure," Leo said, taking some. He chewed it, smirking. "I like you."
"I like me, too," Lavinia replied. Leo laughed.
Frank didn't know what was happening to him. This intense ball of emotions was still rolling around inside him. He felt sick, he felt elated, he felt furious, he felt relieved. And he still wanted to punch Valdez.
"You said you have news to share?" Reyna said briskly. "Let's go to the Via Praetoria. We'll discuss everything there."
"Yes ma'am!" Leo said solemnly with a mock-salute. They started walking.
Leo fell back to walk beside Frank, who was still mulling things over. He shot him a grin. "You do want to smack me, don'tcha?"
"I both do and don't," Frank answered honestly. "I don't want to be just some other guy who hit you when you've just come back, but then again, I've lost my head worrying about you, so I feel like you deserve at least an itty-bitty slap."
Leo acknowledged this with a nod. "Then do it."
Frank shook his head. "No, no. I won't."
Leo held out his arm, waiting.
Finally, Frank couldn't help it. He pinched his forearm, just a little bit. Leo winced slightly and then burst out laughing. "Trust you to be the nicest one about it."
Frank didn't know what to say to that. He just smiled, reveling in the knowledge that Leo was back, Leo was alive and here, and walked on. The muddle of feelings only grew, but with Leo by his side, the confusion didn't feel so bad.

would love to see the beginning of the Rachel/Annabeth friendship in TLO. Annabeth helping her decorate the cave
Rachel POV:
“Want a hand?”
Rachel jumped when a voice spoke at the mouth of the cave.  Her surprise didn’t change when she realized it was Annabeth standing there.  The other girl’s expression was a little sheepish, her shoulders slightly hunched.
Rachel wasn’t sure she’d heard Annabeth right.  Her own voice came out sounding a bit disbelieving when she said, “You want to help me?”
Annabeth shrugged.  “I know you’re getting set up in here and thought maybe you could use some help.”
Rachel raised her eyebrows.  “From you?”
Annabeth winced.  “Never mind.  It’s fine.  I’ll go.”
“No,” Rachel said as Annabeth turned to the door.  “You don’t have to.”  When Annabeth looked back at her, Rachel added, “You can stay.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.  It’s fine.”  Rachel waved a hand at the hastily assembled furniture sitting around the cave that Apollo had designated as “supremely worthy of my Oracle.”  She had plans to paint the cave walls, but at the moment everything was dark, dingy, and a bit of a mess.  “I could actually use some help getting this all together.”
To Rachel’s surprise, the two of them worked together well.  They had different design aesthetics—Rachel’s had more of the chaos of Jackson Pollock, while Annabeth’s favored the clean lines and natural elements of Frank Lloyd Wright.  But between the two of them, they managed to create a nice vibe in the design of the cave.
After about half an hour, as Rachel was adjusting an armchair, trying to find a good angle with the coffee table, Annabeth blurted out, “I’m sorry.”
Rachel raised her head.  “What?”
“I’m sorry.”  Annabeth’s ears were flaming red.  “I was a complete jerk to you.”
Rachel studied her for a moment, then said, “Yeah, you kind of were.”
Annabeth looked down, lips pursed, but she didn’t say anything.
Then Rachel added, “But I get it.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”  Rachel shrugged.  “I swooped in out of nowhere and tried to steal your guy.  Or, at least, that’s probably what it looked like, right?”
Annabeth crossed her arms, studying Rachel for a moment.  Then she said, “I guess.  I mean, that’s probably what it looked like to you.  About how I was looking at the situation.  But…” she morosely kicked a loose stone.  It skittered across the cave floor.  “It wasn’t just because I had a crush on Percy.”  When Rachel gave her a skeptical look, Annabeth shook her head.  “It wasn’t.  I mean, that was definitely a part of it.  But it’s also…” she paused, then gave a frustrated huff, as if she were searching for words.  “Percy is my person.  He’s been my best friend for years now and he’s the person I trust most in the entire world.  When I thought that he was going to run off to the mortal world and leave all this mythological mess—which it totally was at the time—behind, I just…panicked.”  Annabeth’s shoulders slumped and she sighed.  “And none of that was your fault.  So, I’m sorry.”
Rachel didn’t say anything for several moments as she processed Annabeth’s words.  Honestly, the apology, not to mention the rest of the explanation, had taken her completely by surprise.  She had spent just enough time with Annabeth Chase to guess exactly how hard it had been for her to admit all of that.  And that was something Rachel could respect.  So, she simply said, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome?”
Rachel laughed.  “I appreciate the apology.  And I appreciate you sharing the other stuff with me, too.  Now,” she put her hands on her hips, “can we please just move forward and you can help me figure out where in the heck to put this life-size statue of Apollo so that I don’t have to look at it all of the time?”
Annabeth gave a relieved laugh, even as she nodded and turned to study the statue.  “I’m assuming this was his idea?”
“Of course.  And I couldn’t exactly say no.  I’m definitely going to make a loin cloth or something for it, though.”
“Yeah, you don’t need to stare at a naked sun god all day every day.”  Annabeth critically scrutinized the cave, then pointed.  “What about that niche there?  Near the back.  It’ll look like you’ve made him this special shrine or something, but you can also hang a curtain over it to hide it when he’s not here.”
“And there’s the design skills I was hoping for.”  Rachel smiled and Annabeth returned it.  “Now, how are we supposed to move this damn thing?  It weighs possibly a literal ton.”
Annabeth frowned, but just as if she were thinking, not as if she were annoyed.  Then, a mischievous glint came into her eyes and she gave Rachel an evil grin.  “You know what?  I think that sounds like a great job for Percy and Tyson.  Should we go ask them?”
“And let him think we’ve been talking about him?”  Rachel slowly grinned.  “Yeah, let’s go.”
As they left the cave, Rachel suspected that, much to her surprise, she had just made a new friend.

Am I the only one feely that warriors 4 and heimdall are getting to easy 'free card'.
Let's take a look heimdall gave order by odin self to not to open bifrost for anyone except himself but well heimdall violate the order and let Thor go to jotuheim, then heimdall literally swer to loki to loyal to him when loki became King ,then he violateit. Then heimdall accused loki to bring jtun to Asgard (loki did it) without any evidence and don't forget after loki like 'you are a taitor' to heimdall, the first thing he did was trying to kill loki. Then in he doing teason to odin in TDW, and he getting , 'free card' and in LAT heimdall went o Valhalla (but I guess since he died in battle it's make sense)
Warriors 4 , ugh. I hate them so much they are thor's friends, part of Knight. It's very annoying that they are thinking they are better than they Prince (loki) , I know that loki is not like warrior but he still they Prince and he should getting respect no care if they like him or not, that is how monarchy work. I blame thor for loki lack of respect because if his brother not respect him how could other can respect him too. Also really, they just didn treason when loki like half a day became king ? They claim for greater good, I think they did for they own ego and they didn't like loki at all, and they did treason again this time to odin in TDW then they just getting 'free card' again 😒
My hate bigger is for sif, specially when memori! Sif hit loki and saying he deserve alone, how Dare she. I didn't give a shit if loki cut her hair or her organs, she had no right, she lower rank than loki. Odin and frigga are the one can punished loki not her or any thor's friends.
Well, starting with Sif, if I'm being completely honest here I understand why she was so mad and I would have punched him in the face too if he cut my hair. Loki or not, he'd be meeting these hands! 🤛🤜😜. I know she's lower rank and he's a prince but what he did was a jerk move.
Other than that, I agree that The Warriors 3 and Sif are so amazingly dumb in the first movie it's almost funny. They're basically "yes men" and they seem to enjoy some form of leniency because every time they betray Odin nothing happens to them.
As for Heimdall... to be frank I think he always was the most capable figure on Asgard. He does have his faults, especially in the first movie, but trusting Thor in TDW is the right call as they needed Jane out of Asgard. And it seems Odin trusted him enough to consider why he had committed treason.
I see your point though. The hierarchy is clear when it comes to other characters but with Loki the status quo is completely upside down: He's a prince but he can be talked down to, ignored by the einherjar, yelled at by Heimdall, and no one seems to bat an eye when all this happens. It's nice that the first movie showed us that and we could see his reactions to all this, but they should have done something with it too - you can't show us a prince who is not taken seriously and is disrespected by his people and then not pull on that thread to take the opportunity to discuss Asgard's racism.
They get a pass but not Loki. Dude's a scapegoat, it's basically his role in the MCU 🤷‍♀️

Tumblr media
Take seven episodes of Korean X-Men fanfic, add four episodes of spy stuff, a pinch of Korean gangster nonsense, mix well, and you have recipe for a pretty good superhero show.
The final three episodes of janky CGI fight scenes let me down at the end, though.
What Worked
The high school story that made up the first half of the show was delightful. Just a fun mix of YA tropes and the good kind of mutant superhero nonsense. I also liked the whole secret agent assassin thing playing out in the background as well.
And every single character actor was fun and interesting, this was a show that made sure to treat its secondary characters well.
What Didn't Work
And then the secret agent nonsense started taking over the entire show, and the plot got pushed to the side in favor of five episodes of backstory for every single grownup on the show, and then it got frustrating. I still liked alot of it, especially the meet cute between Bong-soek's parents, but we needed half as many episodes of it.
Also, that gang war plotline was just completely drawn out and gory and unnecessary. It made me dislike Hui-soo's father quite a bit. At least the past version of him.
The show's worst fault, though, was that dang three episode long fight sequence at the end (intercut with backstories on every single person in the fight). This series only had about 12-14 episodes worth of story, and they squeezed out 20 of them.
The series just gradually gets worse after episode seven, to the point where I was skipping scenes by episode 10, and even most of episodes 13-14. It's a case of not enough story and also too much backstory. That kind of thing works better in comics and/or webtoons, but does not work for a TV show.
The Performances
There's too many characters here to cover all of them, but they did a good job of making them (mostly) interesting.
Han Hyo-joo as ("secret agent mom") Lee Mi-hyun. I loved her. The character was well written and the superhero abilities were at the level where they could do creative and interesting things with Mi-hyun. Han Hyo-joo gave a good performance, but she was given a darn good character to play.
Ryoo Seung-bum as ("super hero assassin") Frank. Another interesting character played very well. He somehow managed to feel dangerous even when his only real superpower was not dying. The action scenes with him just worked, which made the big janky stuff at the end of the series look even worse.
Lee Jung-ha as ("super hero / boy next door") Kim Bong-seok. For this series to work, you had to really like this kid, and the actor did a good job making me cheer for him. Which made all the episodes where he was missing harder to get through.
Youn-jung as ("strong girl") Jang Hui-soo. Another likeable actor with a great character. It's too bad they kind of pushed her to the side in the final episodes. And it wasn't a knock on the actor. Her character arc just finished early and then they made 6 more episodes and the writers didn't really give her anything. The bullying stuff she had to deal with at the beginning of the series was gripping to watch.
Zo In-sung as ("the amazing, flying") Kim Doo-sik. All of the scenes he played opposite Han Hyo-joo were great. The rest of his backstory was pretty good, but a little uneven.
Ryu Seung-ryong as ("human punching bag") Jang Ju-won. I liked all the stuff he did in the early episodes, and I disliked most of what he did during and after his backstory arc. His stuff with Hui-soo's mom was okay in execution though a little unoriginal.
Kwak Sun-young as ("Hui-soo's mom") Hwang Ji-hee. I've seen this actor before (notably in Hospital Playlist) and she did a good job here, especially some of the early romance arc with Jang Ju-won. But the plot itself was cliche, and they just kind of killed her off to make people sad rather than having it make too much sense. (Was the NIS behind it, or not? Does that really change anything?).
The Lightning Man / Bus Driver. Some of this was engaging in that "everyone has a story" kind of thing, but that guy should have been fired the first time he hijacked the bus to go on a rogue mission. For every cool thing they let him do, we had to slog through 4-5 uncool / depressing things, which is not a good ratio.
The High School Kids. They were mostly okay, though there was really no reason for the future youtuber and the grumpy bully to be hanging around those last few episodes. And they built up Class President kid in the start only to just have him be mostly useless. Even his dad's backstory was completely superfluous to the plot.
The High School Teachers. They should have just made them all straight up villains. It was kind of okay to make the one teacher somewhat redeemable, but we really didn't need as much of his story as we got. And what was up with that security guard?
The Gangster Crew. No thank you. Did not like. Completely useless and a little depressing, especially for all the episodes we got of them.
The South Korean Spy People. They were all pretty hate-able, and meant to be hate-able. There was some good material but they drew this whole plotline out so much that I stopped caring about them.
The North Korean Spy People. The writers did a good job of making them both creepy villains and somewhat sympathetic as well. But we got way too much backstory for what ended up being very little payoff.
TL; DR:
This is not a bad series overall, but if you feel like skipping episodes, or just leaving after episode 7, that's okay. If you go into the show expecting a webtoon / comic type story, and you actually liked that kind of thing, then you should be in good shape to finish it.

Villainy and Greed
Across Jane Austen’s novels, the clearest indication that a person is villainous is that they are greedy. This holds true for almost all of the terrible people:
General Tilney, mercenary (for his children) despite being ridiculously wealthy
Isabella Thorpe, throws away a man with a decent living to chase after the heir, Captain Tilney
John Thorpe, thinks Catherine is rich and pursues her, seems to be living above his means or exaggerating his wealth
John & Fanny Dashwood, do I even need to explain? Greedy beyond belief
Elder Brandon and brother Brandon, forced Eliza to marry against her will to steal her inheritance, left her with a pittance after the divorce
Mrs. Ferrars, mercenary for her children and controls her children with the promise of inheritance
John Willoughby, spends far past his income and marries for money
Lucy Steele, at first you feel kind of sorry for her, but her behaviour at the end proves she was always in it for a much as she could get
George Wickham, greedy, mercenary, and spendthrift
Caroline Bingley, let's say she appreciates Darcy’s many assets
Mr. Collins, ridiculous, but also talks about trying to raise tithes, he’s in this for the money folks, trying to get a second living out of Lady C with all that grovelling
Mr. Elton, mercenary and cruel
Frank Churchill, not willing to risk his inheritance for love
Mary Crawford, mercenary, thinks money is the best recipe for happiness
Sir Thomas, mercenary for his children, overlooks Maria not being in love because her fiance is wealthy
Maria Bertram/Rushworth, pure mercenary
Tom Bertram, gambled away half of his brother’s inheritance
Mr. Elliot, married for money and then was cruel to his sugar momma, special place in hell really. Also greedy for the baronetcy
Sir Walter/Elizabeth Elliot, just the worst spendthrifts, and no real appreciation for those who are hurt by their debts
Mary Musgrove, thinks she is entitled to her husband's inheritance NOW
The interesting thing is though, the good characters are not just NOT greedy or spendthrift, they are practical and prudent. Elinor, as in love as she is, won’t marry on an insufficient income. Lydia and Wickham remaining dependant on her sisters to stay alive is pathetic, they should be able to manage their wealth better. Jane Austen is exploring, over 6 novels, where the line is between avarice and prudence. What is just motive and what is mercenary? Most people think Charlotte Lucas marrying with zero love is cool, Willoughby dropping Marianne for Miss Grey is abhorrent.
But here is the interesting point I wanted to make, there is one antagonist character in Jane Austen who never cares about money at all, and as far as we can tell, isn’t wasteful or careless with it: Henry Crawford. We don’t hear any equivocation from him about Fanny Price’s lack of fortune or status (ahem Darcy). We don’t hear that he’s in debt, when he does actually manage his estate it sounds like he knows what he’s doing, and there is no indication he gambles. Now his sister is a total mercenary, but he doesn’t seem to care about money at all. He’s comfortable, he intends to stay that way. (And yes, he is very rich. But if there is anything the rich like it’s becoming richer, right John Dashwood?)
I think Henry stands out in this way because his indulgence runs a different way. Like Willoughby, he wants instant gratification, but what he desires isn’t monetary. He’s vain, but his vanity doesn’t cost money, like Sir Walter or Robert Ferrars. He’s intelligent enough to manage his estate properly even in virtual absentia. He doesn’t want to marry at all, but he certainly doesn’t want to marry for money.
And yet, money is actually the cause of most of Henry’s faults. He’s always been rich, having been orphaned at a young age. He has never actually needed to work a day in his life, he has a steward for that. He has never had to struggle and endure, He’s bored and he trifles with women’s affections because he doesn’t have anything better to do. Instead of striving for material comfort, he strives to feed his “stated mind”. He was, as the narrator points out, ruined by early independence and wealth.
Or in other words, wealth is the root of all evil. Those who are able to fully resist it’s contaminating influence are heros.
