Does this picture look blurry to you? Like even if you click on the image to enlarge it? I don’t know why but I can’t seem to get tumblr to show the full resolution image. It's finally finished!

Peonies are perfect flowers for Penelope and her story, because among other things they often represent romance, long marriage and healing. In China they are also known as "queen of flowers".

I made some research and found that peonies have indeed existed in ancient Greece and while I don't know for sure, I think they could have existed all the way back to when the Odyssey is set. After these findings new headcanons started popping up 〜⁠(⁠꒪⁠꒳⁠꒪⁠)⁠〜

Penelope's favourite flowers are peonies and Odysseus created a small and private palace garden with peonies (as well as other plants) as a wedding gift for her.

Odysseus affectionately refers to his beloved wife as "Peony of Ithaca".

During the years her husband was absent Penelope would often seek comfort in the garden he made for her. This place became her and Telemachus' safe heaven, where no one would bother them, even if they couldn't stay there forever...

The owl in the background is Athena and she's flying to Odysseus, while he's still in Troy/at the very start of his journey), bringing him back a few Peonies from Penelope's most favourite bushes to let him know, that his wife is okay (as much as she could be in her situation anyway) - this idea came from the Flower AU fics on AO3 by Red_Luz and phantomdecibel, specifically Red_Luz's fic "you'll be the first to know" GO READ IT, IT'S AMAZING (⁠┛⁠✧⁠Д⁠✧)⁠┛⁠彡⁠┻⁠━⁠┻
