Sonic is indeed just some guy with a very much killable vessel that has been killed multiple times, but its just that, no forces of Devine in the afterlife want to deal with his soul. i had an (unintentional) week off from my ttrpgs, so i havent been like. deep in the space of my ocs. but i am doing my little red string connections between them and going man. i love the variety of their moral vibes and how "good" they are.

like, naielle wants to be a good person, and do good. And she's so intent on that goal, and so sure of what being good means (even if she couldnt define it for you) that she's extremely critical of whether her actions measure up. In her measure, she doesn't, because she focuses on her failures. And like, yeah. She has a streak of being almost maliciously petty re: what she perceives as a significant betrayal, and her circumstances make her have to sort of "stoop" to the level of the fuckers she deals with. but she cannot recognise her kindness and the care she shows for the people around her. Like... she's friends with the most other pcs, and I know that she's one of the people that the Commodore trusts a LOT, and that she has earned it. she doesn't! she won't! she's great!

There's nothing interesting to say about Zimri, except that they're basically like... a lot more blase about ends justifying means. despite that, they've probably done Less Fucked Up Stuff than naielle has??? which is very funny. Zimri's not consumed with a desire to be good, only to do right - solving problems they have the power or obligation to deal with (ie one they created). So the whole business with ~the fucker~ is an obligation, with some side objectives, and it might be Good, but. yknow. im fixing something. good arises from a solver problem.

Florian is where the contrast is fun. Because Florian thinks he's a bad person. He's been painted as something like a brute his whole life, his primary skill is simply Hitting Shit Hard, he's not the kind of son his family would want, whatever. He's not worth it. He's good at his one thing, and maybe he can do good using that skillset, but he's just trying to survive. And he's wrong!!! He's a good person! He's fiercely protective of his friends and of people he views as innocent (especially children). He presents himself as motivated by practical concerns, but he regularly intervenes for other reasons. Like, he fucking volunteered the group to fight two fucking cyclopses, because they'd been terrorising a town. my guy.

the sort of vibe of the contrast between him and naielle, particularly, is that the one most concerned with doing good is the one struggling most with it, both because she simply has access to Too Much Fucked Shit, and because she really can never live up to her idea of what a good person is. Her journey is doomed to fail in that way, because it won't ever be enough. And Florian, who outwardly claims to not give a fuck, and certainly has no qualms with getting his hands dirty and fucking up people, has such a strong moral centre that he's basically immune to giving a shit about it, and is doing GREAT. if he fucking. reflected on himself for a second, instead of offhandedly rejecting any compliment or statement about his leadership made by the party, he'd KNOW that. but he told himself he wouldn't care YEARS ago. and that's been surprisingly liberating for him.

Similar to Zimri, I guess? When an overly critical concern over 'goodness' is ignored in favour of Getting Shit Done, it lets him. yknow. actually do more good? i guess? as a character. i am not making blanket statements about morality.

its just a funny comparison! naielle cares so much and she'll never win, and that traps her in disappointment. florian cares so much and knows he'll never win, and that enables him to just do his best.

“Oh.” Despite the interjection, the villain did not seem surprised. Not even their raised eyebrow displayed genuine astonishment. Somehow, that angered the hero. “Lover.”

The word sounded soft in the villain’s mouth. Softer than it should have been and yet, the distance between them was greater than ever. Another thing the hero didn’t like but it was their fault after all.

“We are not lovers,” the hero reminded them. Not anymore.

“Well, you never broke up with me.”

“I didn’t think that would be necessary after what you did. Killing the mayor and taking over the city…” The villain smiled softly and looked down at their desk. With a stinging in their heart, the hero saw the snowglobe they had bought on vacation together. It was foolish, truly foolish given the circumstances that their feelings wouldn’t stay dead. Over and over again, the villain managed to conjure them.

“I assume you didn’t like that?” They looked up at the hero who was still cuffed and held between the two guards. Their eyes were — as always — impossible to ignore. Wherever they were, the villain’s mere presence demanded attention, craved it and got it without fail from people. How they looked at others, how they moved…the villain was mesmerising, no matter if they were fighting or buying groceries.

When they had dated, it had bothered the hero. Everyone seemed to be in love with the villain.

But now, it was insufferable.

“No, I did not.”

“You complained a lot about the mayor in my arms,” the villain said.

“Yes, I disagreed with a lot but I didn’t want them dead.” The villain’s expression changed and this time it was surprise. Oh god, the hero didn’t want to believe that this was a huge misunderstanding, that this was actually their own fault. And then again, thinking about the implications this had, what this one action revealed about the villain’s feelings towards them and about how much power they truly had…the hero didn’t want to think about that.

They watched the villain swallow. Then, they cleared their throat.

“Anyway…you wanted to see me so bad, what do you want?” The hero couldn’t help but laugh humourlessly. Their face got hot and they couldn’t really control their voice when their attention was pinned on the villain.

“I cannot believe you took over an entire city because I complained a few times about politics.”

“That wasn’t my question. What do you want?” The villain was a master at hiding their own feelings. However, the hero knew them. They knew that their ears got hot when they were embarrassed and right now, they were basically glowing.

“I wanted to negotiate,” the hero admitted. They looked at their ex-lover, well, technically lover. The villain was right. The hero hadn’t told them they weren’t a couple anymore.

Maybe that wasn’t right either. Maybe that was the coward’s way out. But still, killing the mayor because the hero was annoyed by them? Jesus Christ.

“Negotiation?” The villain looked up. “That should be easy. You know what I want. You know what I’ve always wanted.”

“Me?” The villain tilted their head.

“Is that what you want?”

“There are worse deals,” the hero said. And they were right. The villain was a fantastic lover and if they were eager to go this far, there were surely worse outcomes. Maybe the hero could fix this. Maybe they could convince the villain to fix this. “And you don’t want money, you don’t care about power. You do what you want because you get away with it. Because it’s fun. It’s a hobby. And you like me because I challenge you. Well, you love me.”

After a moment of contemplation, the villain answered.

“Okay, fine. Get on your knees.” Once again, the hero’s cheeks filled up with heat. They stared at the villain in front of them.

“Pardon?”

“Leave us,” the villain said to the guards, then they turned towards the hero. “And you get on your knees. Beg me to take you back. Because, yes, you’re the only thing that’s standing between me and this city. I need to see how much this means to you.”

And the hero wondered if their lover meant the city or themselves.

Made it to chapter 16 today which means Feyre and I have both had our first impressions of Rhysand's Inner Circle and ohhhhhhh boy

Its hard to pinpoint why exactly, but theres something so discomforting about watching them interact. I think the main thing is that for all their "casual-ness", theres still clearly a rigid hierarchy between them and they all seem to 'know their place' so to speak, its not at all like Lucien and Tamlin's relationship in the first book which genuinely felt like a friendship that was unburdened by their status or positions. Like, theres this one moment where Mor and Amren are like kinda bickering with each other i guess, and Feyre remarks that Mor is probably super powerful if she dares talk back against Amren (in an incredibly minor matter Im pretty sure but I already forgor ngl) and because this is the book where Feyre's perspective starts being Objectively Correct all the time, I guess that's true, I guess the only reason someone would dare voice their opinion on something to this friend group is if they were physically more powerful because otherwise you just level a fucking mountain during an argument

Anyway, Im gonna switch topics for a short moment but I promise this diversion is relavant to the point above. So, sometimes when I go into the anti-tags on here looking for criticisms or complaints of the books, I instead find anti-ship posts that are mainly just about trash-talking some ship, mostly ones relating to that whole Elucien/Elriel/Gwynriel shipwar, which I already have thoughts on but I'll save those for later. In any case, one day I stumbled upon this pretty long anti-elriel post about how the gifts Elain gives Azriel on winter solstice arent actually cute and it describes how she gave him like, herbs that help with headaches "because his friends are always giving him headaches" apparently. And then that post went on a whole rant about how insensitive that was of her and that she doesnt actually understand Azriel's dynamic with his close friends, but honestly, judging from this chapter Elain was absolutely spot on

And I usually wouldn't say this because yknow, its only one chapter and we're probably gonna get the nuances of their relationship later, but this is a book written by Sarah J Maas, her characters and their relationships are rarely particularly deep and, more importantly, her writing is incredibly unsubtle. If Azriel was in any way fond of his friends shenaningans I wouldve noticed it, because Feyre wouldve noticed it like 15 times during that whole dinner. But she didnt.

Its especially bad for Cassian and Azriel because it feels like Cassian thinks they have this great rapport but Azriel just genuinely kinda dislikes him. Not to mention that whole fucking mess with Azriel and Mor and Cassian and Mor having sex so she wouldnt get married off or whatever, good god how is every conversation between them not insanely awkward

Even beyond that, idk man, theyre all just so insufferable. I dont understand how Amren, ancient eldritch being trapped in a fae body that she is, can stand to be around them, I wouldve left them 5 centuries ago if I was her. I guess the explanation is that she finds the government position interesting but its like, youre SECOND to the most boring and annoying man on the planet only kinda ruling over a court that you dont even actually care about from everything Ive heard. Again, if I was in Amren's position I would not be hanging out in an APARTMENT in a boring ass city at the behest of a quartett of stupid bozos, I wouldve weaseled my way into being the personal advisor of Beron or some shit so I could watch the Vanserra Family Drama unfold live

There was one good thing about this discomforting dinner though, and that was how inexplicably gay Cassian was for Rhysand. He was really out there, looking at him with such love, calling him pretty twice in like two minutes being all "I knew I wanted a piece of him the moment I first saw him, the high lord's pretty son" like okay. I know what you are

Hello! I don’t know if you’ve already answered this, (i searched your blog and didn’t really find a post about them so if i missed it whoops) but I was curious to hear your opinion about eska and desna.

Personally I was intrigued by them initially because I really liked their character designs but they quickly turned to be extremely insufferable and unlikeable. And I usually love deadpan characters but theyre not it…

yeah that’s basically exactly how I feel about them as well. goth teenage water tribe royalty toxic codependent twin siblings??? literally the perfect characters on paper, all but designed for me specifically. and yet they are simply so forgettable and irritating and frustrating and insignificant. it’s actually crazy how lok has not one but two instances of toxic codependent water tribe siblings experiencing and committing violence the hands/under the influence of an abusive father, and yet none of these characters are remotely compelling or coherent. thank god we have kavik and kalyaan….. but like, god. what a waste of aubrey plaza

- a rough love. they’ve been through cycle after cycle of love and hate, and given the ways they grew up, their relationship was toxic in the beginning. its all they knew, the way they saw their parents interact, the childhood image of what “loving someone” wasn’t anything stable.

- their fights were like war. screaming matches, hits to the ego, things being broken, storming out. a perfect mirror of their past.

- but theyre stubborn, and nobody else could stomach them like they could. and so again, and again, they’d come back to each other

- they have personal laws and secret history that no outsider could understand. their relationship is incomprehensible to anyone but them. like two awkward youth who were never loved trying to make it up as they go

- but everyone could see it. everyone but them.

- how much clockwork laughed and fought back a smile at tobys dumb jokes, how she scolded him for being a reckless idiot, because everyone but her knew she was worried about him

- and how toby followed her around like a dog, how he listened to no one but her, it was insufferable but god it was endearing to see how that boy was in love

- in a horrible, cruel, terrible world, love prevails. and it shows in the sparks between the two when they shove each other to the ground, or when their fingers tenderly interlock, or when they linger in each others presence a bit too long. their love prevails, against all odds.

a/n: okay so i randomly had this idea and i'm aware most people wont be interested in the slightest but i just had to write it, for myself more than anything haha. So I was thinking about the character Lou within my Matty series "insufferable arsehole" and i was thinking about her relationship/friendships with the guys and decided to do some head canons for each of the boys... enjoy if you do read haha

George has been her best friend since diapers, they've gone through every aspect of their lives together, that fact alone means that they're bonded for life

They know every minute detail about each other

She thinks he probably knows her better than anyone

He's the one person in her life who has been a steady unwavering support

He's her rock, the person she knows she can go to for everything, for advice, for comfort for laughs, anything

they have to deal with lots of people assuming they're something more and it has got a bit tiring over the years but theyre kind of used to it by now

she knows he would jump in front of a train if it meant she lived

he would hurt anyone who hurts her and has come close to beating up ex's of hers that have been douches (and has punched a fair few of them)

she's the first he shares lyrics with or song concepts (even more matty sometimes)

they both felt that because they were so close, whatever one was feeling, the other felt too

not a day went by where they didnt talk, even when they weren't together, on opposite sides of the world, they would still talk

there was this one time: when they were around 16 maybe 17, g had organised this big surprise party for her birthday, it was absolutely amazing, he had managed to get a fuck ton of beer and weed from an older friend, his garden was full to the brim of all of their friends, some people she didnt know (not that it matter). but despite it being HER birthday party, he had invited matty who at some point in the night had said something about how the dress she was wearing would make all the guys think she was an easy fuck... she remembered how her best friend (a very drunk and high george) had laughed at mattys words... they didn't talk for weeks after that until one day her lanky friend appeared at her door, begging on his hands and knees to forgive him, saying how much of a prick he had been and how much he had missed her. somehow they grew closer after that, he would always have her back and she never questioned that.

they have their own handsake and george knows her disdain for something by one simple fact: she will crinkle her nose up at him, he'd do it back and then they'd laugh about it... it was their thing

she was practically his sister

nicknames they have for each other: G, Georgie (he doesn't like this too much), he calls her Lou ofc, also pumpkin (when she was sad or needed comfort),

Ross:

ross and lou grew close when they were kids, they were never as close as G and Lou (basically impossible to be) but there friendship was different

ross feels like the person she goes to when she doesn't even know she needs him

he's always there for her: always

he knows whats wrong before she does most of the time

they're relationship has the same vibe as ross x matty, that kind of intense platonic love

he's her cuddle bear, someone who gives amazing hugs, the kind that heal her

again she knew he'd die for her and she would for him

he was one of the best things that had ever happened to her, she know if she were to have kids he'd be the god father

she was his wingwoman most of the time, always trying to find a partner who was deserving of his love, someone who would love him the way he needed to be loved

he felt like her platonic soulmate, someone that made her soul happy

buttttt.... when they were younger they did used to flirt... like ALOT and people often thought they were together bc of this... they got drunk at a party once a shared quite a steamy kiss (they would take this to their graves btw) but over time it kind of just fizzled out and was replaced with this platonic love, he was enamored with her regardless

they were often childish with each other, he'd carry her around the empty stages on his back, so she began calling him "monkey man" not only bc he was freaking tall but because she clung to him like a monkey

nickanmes: lou would call him: monkeyman, macdonald, mr macdonald, he calls her: sweetcheeks, rockstar, cool kid, sweetheart

Adam:

now adam and lou aren't as close as lou x george and lou x ross but he's still one of her best friends

adam is the person she goes to if she needs an honest opinion, he is the The “tell it like it is” friend and she is so appreciative of that: often the other boys' opinions can be clouded by how much they love her, adam always had a fair mind about her

And tbh she was that for him too, he remembers when he confided in Lou about his worries about carly in his relationship (very early on in their relationship), he told her how he was worried carly would leave him becuase they could never have a 'normal' relationship, they'd always be on tour, swarmed with fans, fans who (despite their sweet intentions) would always want to know everything about their relationship, Lou all but smacked him round the head, telling him he was being ridiculous, that he'd never find another like carly, someone who was so loving and accepting of everyone she met, told him he might as well marry her and that his thoughts although valid, were just thoughts, and that the realistic state of things was that carly was going to love him regardless.

he is someone who watches on the sidelines, showering her with love and affection and his admiration in his own way, often by doing simple things like "i got you xyz thing because i remember you mentioned it"

he loves how she makes carly feel welcome, always the first to talk to her and ask how she is (carly and hann and agreed that they'd ask her to be godmother)

he's not often one to be cuddly with her but when he is it means so much more

they are the type of friends who dont have superficial conversations, their conversations are much more meaningful than that

he knows she'd do anything to protect him, carly and the baby that is on the way and is so thankful to her for that

she likes how in depth their conversations are, everyone knows hann as this guy that doesn't talk much but the two of them often talks for hours

what is this, a total drama vent blog now? but yeah you can :) under cut

i think the derailment of courtney is like five thousand times more annoying than duncan but that might j be bc i dont really like duncan (hes fine in island, kinda boring in action (didnt deserve his win idgaf that shouldve been harold there. yes im still mad lindsay went home instead of him in rock n rule), and the entirety of that mid section of world tour just revolving around him and the stupid love triangle drama is SO annoying. and then he makes final five FOR WHAT??? FOR WHAT???? im sick of his ass. what was i talking about. right) but either way theyre both two very major characters so its just really sad to see them both fall victim to horrible characterization? cuz you start in island right and in general island is a lot more grounded than the other seasons and leans more into the fact that theyre all 2000’s teenage stereotypes so in island theyre just the good ol cliche good girl/bad boy couple its iconic, its cute, WAY more entertaining than gwent (but they get a pass cuz gwen was basically the main character of that season. u go girl. go get that bag AND that boring wet dog man) and its just nice. courtney shows signs of being controlling but for the most part duncan’s attitude gets courtney to loosen up a bit and have fun and courtney made duncan a better person.

and then action happens and then courtney is like. rightfully mad she got screwed out of the season after harold gets her kicked off and no one gaf but its like. you can see where this could go and it doesnt look great. not much happens for duncan except he gets more insufferable bc they didnt give him any friends this season? unlike when he geoff and dj to bounce off of now he just picks fights with harold and the other gaffers which IS funny but. basically action is where the red flags start being put up. their relationship is. fine. like i liked it at the time but knowing where it heads is upsetting. anyways

then u get to world tour and theyre close to their island dynamic again (with the exception of gwen being there…) but then duncan quits first episode which i think was actually a great choice bc of how courtney finally gets to stand on her own as a character without him (i actually really like duncney. but her character was always tied to him in some way yk?) and make her own friends and it was looking great! until i see london and everything goes to shit. dude comes back, cheats on courtney, and then everyone on that god forsaken plane gets involved. first of all, ISLAND DUNCAN WOULD NEVER??? no fucking way. not even action duncan. dude was HOOKED on her crazy ass. AND FOR GWEN?!?! who has never been the same since island but thats a different thing. but they had literally zero romantic chemistry. all they have in common is that theyre both alt kids. NOT EVEN THE SAME KIND OF ALTERNATIVE! just alt. ugh. and then courtney gets sent into a spiral which, is a valid reaction to getting cheated on i do not blame her. and w/ someone you thought was ur friend like i GET IT. and i am on her side. but then her character goes back to ONLY EVER BEING ABOUT DUNCAN except this time its how much she hates him and her character just. pauses! she doesnt go anywhere else from i see london until shes eliminated inn… what was it. chinese fakeout? like shes just a hater who makes zero meaningful relationships aside from getting played by alejandro and shes just. like its just. its not good. and to know that any of this only happened bc the producers forced a duncney break up. girl sit DOWNNN

and then all stars just tramples them even more. since when has duncan ever gave a shit what people think of him? jojo siwa acting ass with this “im a bad boy!1!!!!” act island duncan would never. and then courtney. ohh courtney. she got flushed down a toilet force feeding herself ice cream with bird shit on it. all i gotta say (but also. nerfed bc she literally has an iron stomach in chinese fake out. whatever)

i still love them though. well, i love courtney. duncans alright but still neither of them deserved any of that

(o^▽^o) TDI THOUGHTS I HAD AFTER I STARTED TO REWATCH IT (o^▽^o)

I kinda expected Katie and Sadie to be much more annoying and less multi dimensional, with them having to the together at all times but turns out they actually do have personalities! Katie seems to be a little more aggressive, at least from what i saw in the dodgeball episode, and i really hope they get more fleshed out! I know that wont happen bc i already know who the main characters are but still! I wanna see more of them

Eva was honestly such a slayer, im so sad she was one of the first to get eliminated, AND FOR SUCH STUPID REASONS TOO! Like, come on! She was the best for their team and shes gone?? I also relate to het anger issues slay queen!! Go and let ur emotions get the better of u!!

Heather is INSUFFERABLE, but i kinda love her for it ngl

Still talking abt the characters annoyingness, i like how theyre not that exagerate. Yes, they are stereotypes, they aren't extremely realistic but honestly, for a kids comedy cartoon theyre rlly interesting and fleshed out. They have fun dynamics and im dying to see more of them!

I love dodgeball episodes and scenes bc i always find it sm fun to see the charas fighting for their lives, but NOAH GOT ELIMINATED NOOO

Justin is honestly very boring, I liked Alejandro better from when i watched the third season

Owen is amazing! Hes so nice and such a good guy. Also, hes literally canonically bi! Srsly, hes the first person to try and get justin's attention, and hes so mesmerized by his beauty he didnt even know what to say i love him

Harold is such a stupid nerd i bet hes an evangelion fan, god i love him sm
