Every time I remember that Korra canonically provoked a gay revolution in the Water Tribes by being openly bi because they started questioning the idea of “keeping it private” and started to come out, and that Eska and Desna legalized same-sex marriage in the Northern Water Tribe and even attend weddings to show support I laugh. Idk. Imagine you're just going to your brother's wedding and you see the chiefs just chilling there in front row.

Once someone joked that Desna would be the opposite of his sister in a relationship and would be in a certain role of Bolin. I laughed, and then I remembered that such "humiliations" did not bother him and he slept in the bath while his sister slept on the bed. ok, dude, instead of arguing your wife bash your head in with ice and you walk it off like a true Chief?

My younger cousin (16!!!!!!! Wtf???) watched season 2 of the legend of Korra, here's her opinion of the characters
Korra: "i have a love hate relationship with her bc what do you mean you couldn't tell your uncle was evil???"
Mako: "i don't like him."
Bolin: "so is he gonna do anything of actual importance ever or?" Me: "he stopped an assassination attempt on the president." Her: "ok sure but like did we really want the president alive?"
Asami: "she's a fucking badass where's HER happy end??"
Tenzin: "his siblings make him look more fun like i don't like him on his own"
Jinora: "literally the best fucking character here Aang would be so proud that's his granddaughter"
Ikki: "i just think she's a bit annoying"
Meelo: "a misogynist in the making jesus christ" Me: "yeah it doesn't really get better." Her: "his own grandmother would smack the shit out of him."

I’m curious what do you think about Eska and Desna? I have no particular opinion other than I hope Eska finds a man who can meet her energy that is Not Bolin because idk if he can survive being her purse dog
oh, wow. i actually forgot they existed. they are such nothings to me. which is a massive shame, because on paper, “goth codependent water tribe twins” is like the exact combination of tropes and archetypes that should most appeal to me (especially seeing as eska is voiced by aubrey plaza). but their introduction and execution is as sloppy as the rest of lok book 2, and so i barely even remember them at all. conceptually and aesthetically they are pretty cool, but they’re ultimately highly forgettable to me. sowwy
