Once someone joked that Desna would be the opposite of his sister in a relationship and would be in a certain role of Bolin. I laughed, and then I remembered that such "humiliations" did not bother him and he slept in the bath while his sister slept on the bed. ok, dude, instead of arguing your wife bash your head in with ice and you walk it off like a true Chief?

Hmm..... I don't think about LOK rarepairs as much, but I do have a few. However, aside from Hukki and Irosami, most of them are more along the lines of "they intrigue me in theory but I would need to explore them more," rather than "I am actively invested in them." (The other exception to this is Makonora, which is actually perfect and I was so galaxy-brained for coming up with it.)

TFP x Nervous Reader

Optimus

When optimus met (Y/N), the first thing he noticed was (Y/N) was twitching and was extremely nervous.

He was gonna tell them to stay calm and he ment no harm.

Intel the decepticons appered.

(Don't ask)

Once he got to a safe place, he faced (Y/N).

He was concerned at first and asked if they were ok.

He learned that they are fine but can't control it.

When (Y/N) was brought to base, leave it to miko to make (Y/N) uncomfortable.

She probably said something like "why do you twitch? Is there something wrong with you're head?" 😑😑😑appeared.

Which caused bulkhead to yell at miko

Optimus looked up what was wrong with (Y/N), along with ratchet.

When he figures out what was wrong. He made sure to help (Y/N) as best as he can.

He loves being with (Y/N) since (Y/N) is very nice when they are calm.

He also made sure to keep little things inside of his subspace for (Y/N) like blankets, fidget toys, snacks, etc.

Ratchet

When ratchet meets (Y/N), it was when optimus brought them to base, after they where almost captured by the decepticons.

Even though he is a grump, he aint a asshole.

He knows something wrong, he might be annoyed at first but he will come around.

I can see ratchet being really protective of (Y/N), since they can hurt themselves from twitching alot.

He will look up ways how to help (Y/N) with their twitching.

Once he figures out, he will act on it immediately.

He will take (Y/N) away from anything that will cause them to twitch or get extremely nervous.

He will also ask the kids to get fidget toys from (Y/N) so they have something to do.

Ratchet now has a friend with him while he works on his Computer.

He will listen to (Y/N) talk, since when they are calm, they have a very nice voice.

He will also listen to (Y/N) when they tell him to take a break or take a drive with them.

He will also be willing to drive them to work/school/home.

Soundwave

When he met (Y/N), it was when the vitcons kidnapped them, megatron couldn't figure out why they were twitching, so sent then to Soundwave.

Since Shockwave was busy with predaking or he wasn't here at the time.

Soundwave immediately put (Y/N) in a caps thing (I don't know the name) and watched them

Obviously (Y/N) would twitch non-stop and Soundwave wrote this down.

Eventually, Soundwave will look up what (Y/N) has and once he figures out, he reports it.

Sorry (Y/N), you are the new pet of the decepticons.

(Get you're fucking head out of the gutters you sinners! Shame on you!😤😤😤)

Eventually Soundwave would actually start to build a friendship with them.

He would tell lord megatron they will be their "guardian" and protect (Y/N).

Lazerpeak also loves (Y/N) since they pet their head when relaxing.

(Y/N) is mostly stuck with Soundwave, so Soundwave gets used to (Y/N) just sitting next to his keyboard.

Soundwave would listen to (Y/N) and is penitent when he waits for (Y/N) to finish their sentence.

I can see him trying to teach (Y/N) how to speak normally while stressed.

So for Bolin, I don't have many ships I like for him other than weilin? I think a lot of his canon ships share the theme of either enabling his infantilisation or patronising him. Bolin needs a partner that would support amd challenege him into maturing, but the writers won't give that to us because writing character development is hard.

At least with weilin I can work with my own ideas?

Mind you it's not that I can't get behind other ships, in the right setting,I'm just very picky about how Bo is characterised.

As for Wei, he doesn't have a lot of interactions with any characters outside of Bolin, so I really don't have a lot of ships with him.

One thing I'm sick of seeing is Beifong family incest? If my daily scouring of the web for weilin crumbs is interrupted by a threesome between Wei, Wing and THEIR FATHER, I will blow this solar system into smithereens.

I'm pretty vanilla when it comes to Suyin ships. I adore Sutar they're adorable and I wish we could've seen them when they were younger. I adore the idea of Suyin finding someone to build a life with, I adore the theme of carving out and building a place to call home together, I adore how they're the poster children for malewife/girlboss.

Though one of my crackships is Suyin x any member of the Red Lotus. This would probably place itself somewhere in my Red Lotus! Beifongs AU.

I'm not too fond of Suvira? Like I absolutely get the appeal, in theory. And while Kuvira doesn't consider the Beifongs family, she has been under Suyin's care since she was 8. Most mentor/protégé ships aren't my cup of tea. There are very specific exceptions, but as a rule of thumb, I shy away from this theme.

For Lin, I'm very partial to Linzolt, thanks to my wife. Very interesting dynamic. I also like shipping Lin with women of course; Kyalin, Linsuko, Lin x Buttercup Raiko - all bangers. I like Linzin for what it could've been. I also think Lin x Pema is a fun crackship. Maybe they saw Korrasami and were like: 'hey why not?'. I do however like Lin with Tenzin and Pema together? They'd be a cute throuple. I have a tendency to enjoy shipping Lin with married couples because I tend to ship Lin with San and Naoki as well (Mako and Bolin's parents)

Asami. Like most of the fandom, I adore korrasami. Though I'll be honest when I say... masami was kinda cute? Honestly, any ship where Asami is happy gets a thumbs up from me.

That being said I'm always in the market for some toxic yuri, so Asami x Kuvira or Asami x Jargala are both very intriguing to me.

Another one of my favourite guilty pleasure ships I'm much too invested in is Opal x Asami.

Think about it. They're both rich girls who were isolated from the world. Imagine them sharing stories of the wide world. Imagine Asami upgrading Opal's wingsuit and Opal bringing Asami trinkets from all the places her Air Nomad journeys take her. Imagine Asami getting a real family as the Beifongs adopt her. Her getting a father that would never betray her in Baatar Sr.

Idk I think they'd be good for each other. I think I need to make a longer post on Asami x Opal.

Opal is my favourite female tlok character (Bolin being my fave male character) and tbh I hate her being demoted to a love interest.

That doesn't mean I don't ship her with anyone.

Sapphic Opal has my heart and soul. I ship her with most female characters of the show. Korpal? Exquisite, did you see the synchronised airbending scene? Opalvira? Love their divorced vibe in rote! Opal x Asami? Unsung favourite! Opal x Eska? Opal x Ginger? Yesyesyes!

My one straight ship for Opal is Mako x Opal because I think they'd be good for one another.

Bumi II x Suyin Beifong's chef is my horrible creation. I think this post I made months ago explains it perfectly:

I don't have any particular ships for Huan. I'm quite open to most ships with him, since in my personal opinion he's the most romantic of the Beifong siblings. I can see him with Desna or Eska, Tahno or Ryu the airbender. Mako x Huan is also sweet when you think of it. I think if them both as such big brothers.

I'm not very into Huan x Ikki. Like, I do get why people like it. And I'm not that against age gap relationships. One of the healthiest relationships i know irl has a huge age gap. I just see Ikki and Huan as having such a big brother/little sister relationship it's very hard for me to swap to seeing them as anything romantic. Perhaps as a onesided puppy crush on Ikki's side but anything more is a big big no no

ranking TLOK relationships bc i'm bored.

mako x asami (masami?? idk what the ship name is): bad but not horrible. they were a very generic vanilla couple who immediately broke up because of korra. they had no chemistry whatsoever and mako cheating on asami got rid of any potential that was there.

makorra: ugh. i don't like this ship. despite all of mako's flaws, i think korra was the toxic one in this relationship. she constantly kept blowing up at mako when he was just trying to help and support her. she takes out all her frustrations on him, barges into his office and destroys it bc he was doing his job. smh mako deserved better. (i know he was kind of an asshole too but at least he got called out for it; also I'm not a korra hater, i just don't like her in s2)

bopal: i hate bolin okay. he's not interesting, he's not funny and his sexual harrasment towards ginger is played for laughs. i can't ship this character with anyone because he keeps making mistakes and never gets called out for it. besides, even if he wasn't such an ass, bopal was a boring ship anyway. it had no substance to it, it's just "boy meets girl and they fall in love". opal isn't a very interesting character by herself either.

zhurrick: i regret to admit that i found this ship cute at first. but looking back, varrick treated zhu li like shit and never gets a proper redemption. he just delivers a half-assed apology and proposes to her, and she says yes. yay, problem solved! zhu li deserves better.

eska x bolin: walking red flag. this was another case of the show using a serious issue as a joke. eska is actively abusive and possessive towards bolin and it's just treated as "haha crazy girlfriend". bolin gets reprimanded for not breaking up with her sooner? as much as i dislike bolin, this isn't right either. men being abused is a very real thing, and should be taken seriously. it's not funny and it's not pathetic.

jinora x kai: it's alright. not bad, though we don't get to see enough of them. but from what we see, they seem to care about each other and work well as a couple.

korrasami: lots of potential but it was underwhelming. i get that it was restricted, so i can't blame the writers here. they did do a good job of writing a believable friendship between korra and asami, so it's not much of a stretch to imagine them dating.

The problem is, there are pairs I enjoy writing, pairs I enjoy reading, and pairs I enjoy specifically because there is someone I love reading who writes this pair phenomenally or just throws their whole heart into it. There are also different levels of enjoyment, from "will die for them" to "will read if I come across it" to "appreciate it exists" to "like it better than other pairs." So this is an inexact science at best. I'll do what I can.

Got tagged by @jenniferbrincho and figured ah sure, I’m usually too lazy to do these but let’s give this one a go!

1. Three non-romantic duos: Jack O’Neill and Teal’c (Stargate SG-1), Ben Gates and Riley Poole (National Treasure), Barrenger and Mercury (my characters)

2. A ship that might surprise others: I am not an avid shipper. However, the funniest ship I ever committed to (semi-seriously) was Bolin x Eska from Legend of Korra season 2. 😂 I think they coulda made it work by the end there!

3. Last song: Uuuugh the last song I HEARD was “Made You Look” but that’s only because it was on a video I was watching. It was catchy but I’m not really a Meghan Trainor fan. Also listened to some Christmas music on the radio.

4. Last film: I saw the second half of Avatar: Way of Water because my sister and niece were watching it when I dropped off my nephew, and lemme tell you, even half of that is long enough to qualify as a whole movie! (It was good and I should probs watch from the beginning sometime, but hey, I got the epic water fight scene and the touching rescue :D)

5. Currently reading: Just finished rereading W.R. Gingell’s newest book. Also…slowly making my way through Midnight Sun for the sake of making overdramatic posts…which I GUESS counts… T_T

6. Currently watching: Saw the season finale of Amazing Race tonight, it was great! And the season finale of Lego Masters is tomorrow! It should be EPIC!

7. Currently consuming: Bold flavor Chex Mix and water.

8. Currently craving: To be done with work for the week and have the motivation, time, and attention span SIMULTANEOUSLY to do some fun writing.

nah eska is way more of a goth baddie and powerful than mai is. mai threatens zuko into not breaking up with her but eska straight up threatens bolin into marriage lmao. also sokka is actually a genius unlike dumbass bolin.

sokka is super smart, he just acts goofy. so i don't think maikka would be dysfunctional like boleska. i actually think it would be kinda cute and funny. they're both sarcastic and mai hates being bored and sokka is the total opposite of boring.

i've read some great maikka fanfics before lol and i wish more people liked this ship.

The thing about Aang's non-consent kiss is that this is nothing new. Iroh's cradle. Bolin x Eska. Bolin x Ginger. Korra and Mako. On and on. The writers just don't understand consent 100% well (to be fair, this is an unfortunately very common romance problem, and the writers did do it much more mildly than a lot of romance movies and films). And yes, he totally should've apologized.

I mean, Aang is a 12 year old, from a society which strictly segregates genders, in a fantasy East Asia world. He's properely received zero real mentorship about proper romantic behavior, and the only example of romantic relationships he's ever really seen is Sokka and his brief dalliances with Suki and Yue. Demonizing him for not quite following modern Western ideas about appropriate communication before kisses (when those standards have changed massive over the 50 or so years) is just pathetic. And you're right, Bolin and Korra never get the same flack for doing the same thing, much less 60+ year old Iroh for creeping on a woman 30 years younger and groping her against her will.

It would have been nice for Aang to apologize, but it also would have been nice to actually see Aang and Katara get together, instead of having it be offscreen and an afterthought.

You know, I think Bolin x Eska actually could have worked if you'd tweak a few things about the relationships (i.e mainly get rid of Eska abusing Bolin) along with better fleshing her out. Though I am glad after book 2 the show abandoned this ship.
