“This book would be an excellent addition to any family or library picture book biography collection. It's a beautiful introduction to this strong, caring woman, and a brief introduction to her culture. I wish I knew about her and her determination to be "brave with beauty" when I was growing up. Highly recommended!” - Michelle B, Librarian . . We are thrilled that NetGalley reviewers are loving BRAVE WITH BEAUTY by Maxine Schur. So I'm embarking on the ever dreaded revision but I'm making some progress! I can finally understand why my tutor was criticising my essays (they were bad), and I now finally know what I think about the topics I studied!

What is history but a fable agreed upon? -Napoloen - Mali Empire of West Africa 1200 BC - 1500 BC - King Abubakari II, the ruler of the fourteenth century Mali Empire, which was larger than the Holy Roman Empire. The king sent out 200 ships of men, and 200 ships of trade material, crops, animals, cloth and crucially African knowledge of astronomy, religion and the arts -.African American history did not start with slavery in the New World. - Africans had frequently sailed across the Atlantic to the Americas, thousands of years before Columbus -The great ancient civilizations of Egypt and West Africa traveled to the Americas, contributing immensely to early American civilization by importing the art of pyramid building, political systems and religious practices as well as mathematics, writing and a sophisticate art. The strongest evidence of African presence in America before Columbus comes from the pen of Columbus himself. In 1920, a renowned American historian and linguist, Leo Weiner of Harvard University, in his book, Africa and the discovery of America, explained how Columbus noted in his journal that Native Americans had confirmed that “black skinned people had come from the south-east in boats, trading in gold-tipped spears. #builtobegreat #richhistory #thinklikekings #blueprintinDNA #acceptance #facts💯 #worldhistory #globalhistory #americanhistory
