It just hits different when you’ve made your own bread, apple butter, and strawberry rhubarb jam 🥣

The Olive Garden manager approaches my table assertively. "Sir, we know we said 'unlimited' garlic sticks, but this is a bit excessive."
"More!" I yell. "More, now!"
A fifth wave of vampires has shown up in the parking lot. My throwing arm is getting tired.

You know, watching the anime made me realize something, so I went looking.
We (manga readers, anime-onlies beware spoilers later on) already know Senshi’s tragic backstory and that the reason why he stays in the dungeon is to take care of it.
Early on in the manga, Senshi behaved with a complete disregard to Chilchuck’s orders to keep them safe. It’s possible Senshi behaved this way because he didn’t respect Chilchuck’s skills, or he thought that none of the traps would be able to harm him (due to being a dwarf). When he offered up his life to the orcs (before his vegetables, even), maybe he was simply trusting that Zon wasn’t actually going to kill them (despite them brutally murdering an entire pub in front of their eyes). But what if he simply…doesn’t care whether he lives or dies?
Senshi shows no interest in returning to society, preferring to keep to himself. He lives only for tending to the dungeon and cooking his next meal. He behaves recklessly with his own safety, and he hasn’t moved on from the trauma he experienced almost eighty years prior. He also believes that resurrection is unnatural, and accepts his own death with relative ease.
I think his survivor’s guilt left him passively suicidal, just waiting for his inevitable death to come to him, and holds fiercely onto Gillin’s final wishes that Senshi lives on as a reason to not seek it out.

I’m sorry to have an influencer moment on here but I’m not lying when I say that these Tomato Cheddar Toasts from NYT cooking are hands down one of the best meals I have ever cooked for myself in my entire life (and I’ve been cooking daily for like 12 years lol) and they take like five minutes, most of which is spent waiting for the bread to toast. The recipe is paywalled so I’ll just say you take cheddar cheese and shred it on the tiniest side of your box grater/microplane, then mix together a 1:1 ratio of mayo and cheddar. Then when the bread is piping hot from being toasted you spread it on there (like a tbsp or two per bread) and the heat causes them to melt together into this insane creamy tangy spread. Then top with tomatoes and salt.
I have been eating tomato toasts almost every day this summer and I thought I had my formula down pat, but then I tried these and it changed my world. Genuinely a contender for last meal on earth if I had to choose. I have eaten it with every single meal since I got back from my backpacking trip except one bc I was invited to a potluck. I know my username might make you think I’m just overzealous but please for the love of god if you eat dairy and gluten and love tomatoes (and have access to some good ones) I am begging you to try this. On the left is the recipe pic and on the right is one of the ones I made. and like it doesn’t matter if no one tries this I just want this in my tomato tag to commemorate this unbelievable toast because I’m in a new era of my life for real

Love these two scenes right before Last Supper bc it is two people visibly bracing themselves to completely ruin the vibe of the dinner party

Fairy garden birthday party preparations! I tried to do as much as possible the day before, but I was still so busy on the day of.
Full list of foods I made (made possible with the help of my mom and some other family members!): garden focaccia, spinach artichoke dip (with chanterelle mushrooms), spicy jackfruit sliders, coleslaw, fritters, herb yogurt dip, stuffed mushrooms, salad, hibiscus lemonade, wild blackberry orange muffins, blueberry lemon cake, colorful buttercream frosting, and colorful cream cheese frosting. I think that covers it! The goal was to put together all the recipes for everything, but maybe next time.
The activities: outside we had our little feast, danced with bubbles to this “fairy playlist” I made, and there was going to be a little set up with candles outside but we ended up getting a sudden thunderstorm. Inside, we make our own flower crowns and then decorated the cupcakes and ate cake/opened presents. Super fun. There’s so much more I wish I could have done, but there’s always next time 💜
