Okay so we’ve already figured out that to propose or get married that Adora gives Catra her pin:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Super cute! It’s the first thing that signified her defection and something she holds near and dear to her heart and is always wearing! Love to see it!
But what did Catra give to Adora is always the question I see and I haven’t seen a solid answer but here is my hypothesis:
Tumblr media
You see that gem on her head? Look familiar? No? How about now:

I think that Catra kept those shards from her mask. I think that was the only jewelry or gem she had and so she shined that bad boy up and put it in a tiara.
To Catra those gems signified her breaking free from her abuser and finally turning the scales. It meant showing not only her abuser but showing HERSELF that she was strong enough and I think it meant just as much to her as the rebellion pin did to Adora.
So yeah, it’s fuck shadow weaver o’clock 24/7 here and I stand by that. If anyone has made this theory before I apologize, I simply did not find it.

How do you feel about Shadow Weaver?
Thanks for the ask! Now as for Shadow Weaver...they are another person who got a redemption arc even though they did not deserve one, abusing children and traumatizing them ring a bell? Catra definitely deserved a redemption arc before Shadow Weaver but noooooooooo let's give one to the child abuser first. I just think spop was too obsessed with redeeming villains. Some villains need to just stay villains. Also, the way their arc ended by death is so fucking stupid istg. Also, if I remember correctly, nobody confronts her about abusing children? I mean Catra gets mad at her sometimes but besides that, she gets off scot-free.

Something I realised last night while I was rewatching some of She-Ra season 3 on a server I'm on doing a SPOP rewatching. It was that Shadow Weaver being among the rebellion was literally the last straw for Catra EVER joining Team Good Guy while the war was going on. Like MAAAAAAYBE before this, there was a chance that Catra MIGHT have seen the light and gone with Adora to the side of the rebels... but Shadow Weaver being in Brightmoon probably fucking killed any chance of that for her while the war was going on.
Because why the fuck would Catra even WANT to be on any side with Shadow Bitch, who manipulated her, abused her and generally treated her like crap.

Honestly, if I was Adora, I also would not know what to do with the Rebellion and their way of doing shit.
Like, are you telling me that Glimmer's only punishment for directly disobeying her mother is a - rather light - grounding? That she was able to back talk her mother and general on a fairly regular basis, with little to no consequences?
I would absolutely not know what to do with this, and except in situations where the balance of the world was at stake - the times where breaking the rules is practically irrelevant - I would also just pretend that it wasn't happening or didn't apply to me - which is absolutely what Adora was doing.
While she's She-Ra, she's noble and doing the right thing, and with the savior complex the size of Bright Moon that she's got, any consequences that come would just seem due. But as Adora? I can't imagine she was treating her relationship with the Queen, or with the elder members of the rebellion, much different than she treated her relationship with Shadow Weaver. Safe as long as you play by the rules.
I wonder at what point she realized that she was safe no matter what - no matter whether she was perfect and obedient and exactly what they wanted her to be.

Do you ever think about how Adora didn't realize she was being manipulated/ abused in the Horde so when she looked back on her old memories with Shadow Weaver she probably started to recognize the signs of abuse on herself, Catra, and the other cadets? Because I do and it hurts.
