Would anyone be interested in plotting a relationship in my modern verse? Any kind of relationship: romantic, platonic, friends, family, rivals, enemies, friends with benefits, etc etc etc. General information about this verse can be found [here] and my character document for Itachi in this verse can be found [here].

Some interesting ideas for dynamics between our muses:

mates in a same music band or, why not, rival bands;

roommates! either during university days or after that;

classmates at university, or former classmates;

your muse being Itachi's body-guard once his band is famous;

good ol' fan-meets-idol plot;

a plot where our muses are exes - exes that get along and managed to stay friends, exes that don't get along at all, exes with lingering feelings, exes that broke up based on some sort of misunderstanding, exes that can't stay away from each other - just, exes.

Their camp sat at the edge of the sandbank, against the tree line, and beyond the reach of the waves. A black cloak with red cloud patterns llaid open on the sand; another tidily rigged up to block the weather with a simple and sturdy wooden frame. One wide rimmed hat hung at the left and right side, while belts, bags, pouches, knives, and clothes were alternatively set in neat piles or tossed casually around the area. In front of this refuge, wood was stacked, ready to be burned, while a significantly larger pile sat tidily off to the side.

An open flame might normally attract enemies, but there was little chance of any other person coming out this way. In the event that some poor soul did wander in, it was still less likely that they would be strong enough to pose a threat to this deadly duo, if they were stupid enough to approach at all.

White sand glittered under his feet, as he walked along the shore, pressing pleasantly between toes decorated with purple painted nails. The great blue ocean stretched out on his right side, as far as the eye could see. Tall rocky ledges surrounded the bay, framing pale sandy shores of pebbles, jagged rocks, and hardy corals. Delicate little waves rippled across the surface of the water, glistening in the golden glow of the setting sun, before dissipating into soft foam at his feet.

Itachi marveled, taking in the scene with reverence, while a bittersweet nostalgic bliss washed over him- carried along by the salty sea breeze. The rhythmic churning of the tides set a soothing tone, easing the pain of days past with every push and pull. Truly, few in the world really got what they deserved, Itachi pondered, or else he would never have found himself walking in such tranquility, able to forget his woes for a time. Relief and joy coursed through him, earning a little shudder. He smiled to himself, looking out over the waves, towards the darkened shape of his partner, swimming through sparkling waves.

Piercing crimson eyes dart swiftly from the horizon, pulled down to the shore by a flash of motion. At once, he brings down a simple wooden skewer with swift efficiency. The crab struggles, flailing madly at the end of the sharpened stick, but its agony is of little concern to Itachi. Its suffering needed. "Thank you for your sacrifice," he offers in apathetic prayer, before continuing down his route, in search of other unfortunate and edible creatures.

Classic Modern AU but everyone has fears and phobias based on their past lives in the Narutoverse

Shisui being afraid of water and heights because of the fact that he fell to his death and drowned

Obito suffering from claustrophobia because of the cave-in and also because of all the time he spent in Madara's cave after he got rescued

Itachi being a bit afraid of heights because of Shisui's past death, but also having a phobia of blood because of all the lives he was manipulated into taking and all the blood he has spilled despite having wished for peace

Naruto being afraid of big crowds because of the way he was treated by the people of Konoha for all of his childhood and part of his early teenage years

Kakashi also being claustrophobic because of the cave-in where Obito "died"

So on and so forth for all the others

Idk. I don't have a plot in mind or anything but I think it could be interesting

Itachi before and after his battle with Sasuke.

What breaks my heart here is how completely changed he looks from the beginning to the end. He's very much composed, keeping up his 'evil' façade in front of Sasuke before the battle. But as soon as he's closer to his death, he drops the mask. And with it he lets go of his composure, too. It's like, the rain has also washed away all his apprehension, maybe it's the death that did, and he can finally be himself.

You can clearly see all his vulnerability and physical weakness, and he resembles a child here (too much weight loss, I guess). He looks like someone who is free from all the burdens and pains, and while he was living, all of it was physically draining for him. As though the prolonged pain had changed his physical appearance too. Like, he couldn’t ever express himself until here. And imo, this is the real him. Broken and vulnerable and someone who probably never grew up past the age of 13.

I like your takes on Itachi. As somebody who never really sought out Itachi centric fics, do you have any recommendations? (Aside from your deidara X Itachi time travel, I already fell in love with that one after I accidentally came across it)

Hmm I feel like I always recommend the same ten or so fics no matter what people have asked, but here goes.

If you like the mood of "Itachi is a 'good guy' but still an asshole," try:

The Legend of God's Eyes series by Loudest_Voice - AU where Itachi finds an alternative-but-still-brutal solution to the Uchiha coup. The result is that he stays in Konoha, albeit disowned by his family. He eventually become's Team 7's sensei. Incomplete and hasn't been updated since 2019.

Yet, Mad I am Not by Erisah_Mae - Canon Itachi wakes up in an AU where the Uchiha massacre never happened and he's a medium-achieving chunin. He just has to deal with this, but everyone else has to deal with him. Complete, but I will give the warning that the last couple lines really flip the story on its head in a way that many readers didn't like (iirc the writer planned a sequel that never got written).

Other Itachi fics:

Daybreak by DigitalTart - Sequel fic to a sort of fix-it AU where Mikoto prevents the Uchiha massacre. You do not have to read the previous fic (One Small Kindness), although I would also recommend it because it is a good read. Also "Itachi as Team 7's sensei," but this Itachi is MUCH kinder. Incomplete and hasn't been updated in years.

Kabu series by Tozette - My new obsession. Itachi wakes up after his fight with Sasuke in a rural village. He stays. There's a cat. Very slice-of-life. Ongoing.

Deidara, gently: Before you killed your clan?

Itachi: *nods; takes off the mask and wipes his eyes*

Deidara: *hesitates, then sits down next to him, putting an arm around his shoulders*

Deidara: It’s okay, it’s okay; calm down, hm. You’re okay.

Deidara: *stands up* Let’s go and get some dango.

Itachi, teary-eyed: But … but we have a mission …

Deidara: Hidan owes me a favor; I’ll ask him and Tobi to do it instead. *holds out his hand* C’mon, you evil-eyed bastard. Hey, wait … you know what would be fun?

Itachi: Fun?

Deidara: *looks in Itachi’s trunk* You’ve got more than one of these Anbu outfits … let’s wear them, and tell the owner of whatever shop we go to that we’re on a secret mission from The Hidden Leaf, to find the best dango shop in the country. I bet they give us everything for free!

Itachi:

Itachi: *smiles and puts on the mask* I like the way you think. We could —

Kakuzu, suddenly in the doorway: Have you got a third outfit in there? I could use some free liver from that one cafe up the road.

Itachi and Deidara:
