Fanzine Friday #20: The Literary Magazine of Fantasy and Terror (1974)

Fantasy and Terror was a magazine of short stories and poems about -- you guessed it -- fantasy and terror. We thought Tumblr would appreciate the illustrations on the front (above) and back (below) cover.

The poem, titled Mythconception, reads:

Full moon? Believe it not. I work as well in blinding sun. A hairy palm is tommyrot As is the stealthy loping run. A silver bullet kills me dead? No more than one of basic lead. Werewolf rules, these. You cannot hope To use the same on a lycanthrope.

I am not normal about them at all

so much happened in this whole episode but i’m still on fig infiltrating ruben’s dream, making it look like the place where his friend was murdered, and then disguising herself as kipperlilly & repeatedly saying different variants of “somebody needs to take the fall for this, and it’s not going to be me. it’s going to be you.” while adaine as the elven oracle shows up next to her. can you imagine waking up from that, the idea of a horrible truth being pinned on you by your friend to save her own skin while the personification of fate and destiny stands there, almost as a promise that this is GOING to happen to you. we don’t even know if this kid is guilty. my god.

hallariel told fabian at the start of fhsy that bill had tremendous night terrors during which he would start attacking things with his sword in his sleep and fabian said "i dream of having nightmares at the level of papa's". and then in leviathan fabian has a tremendous night terror during which he attacks his motorbike with his sword in his sleep. congratulations fabian you got exactly what you wanted. are you happy about it

what attracts me to the transfemme fitzjames headcanon is that it has potential to add another layer of tragedy to his story. like he never had the chance to even consider who he was or what he wanted; he died before he could even explore the options. he never got to pull off the mask—he lived a man, he died a man, and he is remembered a man. the end of vanity came too late for him
