Captain of Demonic Cultivation (MDZS x TWST AU) - Jiang Yanli’s Phoenix Mountain Moment but It’s Yuuken Instead
Tumblr media
I want to write the whole Phoenix Mountain Hunt but I have no energy to write the whole episode. So, I just write Yanli best scene. Either this or The Untamed "I used to see you as my lifelong bosom friend" scene, but the latter will be only after I have more context.
The Sunshot Campaign had passed and peace had arrived. Whispers among the streets about his brother's new unusual cultivation method, but Yuuken still stands by his belief. Both of his siblings are the only family left, thus he will stand by their side as they rebuilt their fallen House Crowley of Dawn.
It was during this time that House Kingscholar of Afterglow decided to hold a Crowd-Hunt at Phoenix Mountain, inviting all the remaining four Great House. This was also one of the few that Yuuken can attend since he was personally invited by First Lady Claudia Kingscholar, the mother of Leona Kingscholar, his former fiance. Though Yuuken could've guessed why she did that.
Even so, that didn't make walking down the forest path with Leona by his side to be less awkward. Lucky for them, there weren't any monsters around, though Yuuken guessed that it had something to do with the sound of a flute earlier.
"Looks like we have ourselves a human-size snake."
Yuuken snapped out of his thought to look at Leona. "What?"
"A monster from the southern isle." The young lord crouched down. His fingers brush away some grass, revealing the shedded green scales that were too big for Yuuken's liking. "It'll just have a height-measuring contest when you encounter it. If it's taller than you, it'll swallow you up. Looks tough but it's nothing compared to us."
Yuuken's eyes widened slightly. "Us?"
Leona glanced back, but Yuuken quickly looked away. "Surely you can take care of yourself."
Yuuken unconsciously reached for the hilt of his sword, Enma. "Oh. Of course." It wasn't that Yuuken didn't know how to fight. He had his spiritual sword and studied along with his siblings and Leona at Cloud Reccesses. But his spiritual power and experience in hunting are less than theirs, in addition to never being allowed to participate in the battlefield.
Leona was quiet for a while before getting up and started walking again. Yuuken followed with a few steps behind him.
"I can bring you to Afterglow Savannah's private hunting ground for next month's hunt," Leona said again. "You can catch many rare preys there."
Yuuken just hummed. Seemed like that wasn't the right response as Leona turned around and Yuuken immediately looked to the ground. "Not liking that idea? Don't you want to go hunting once in a while?"
Yuuken shook his head. "It's not that, but..."
"Or you just don't want to be with me?"
His breath hitched. "It's complicated." Yuuken might not be the smartest, but he understands himself. And he understand that he fancied Leona for the longest time. The two of them were engaged because both of their mothers were best friends. It was only natural for the two House to strengthen their bond. With Yuuka being born with a naturally stronger golden core, thus securing her role as the future leader of the House, Yuuken's role is to alliance through marriage. He understood that since he was little and as he grew older, his admiration and crush for Leona grew. He knew Leona had trouble expressing himself, leading to many misunderstandings like the incident that caused Jonah to get expelled from fighting with Leona and leading to them breaking their engagement.
"Is there anything about him that can make me happy?"
"You son a bitch!"
Leona clicked his tongue and Yuuken dared himself to look up. Leona wasn't looking at him. His eyes were closed and his head turned another way.
"Whatever," he said. "I wasn't going you invite you on this hunt anyway. Forget about it."
Yuuken hummed again. He had his guesses. "Please, excuse me." He turned around, going back to the path he went through, trying not to feel disappointed. Back then, even before their engagement broke, he wondered if Leona actually like being with him. But maybe it was Yuuken who isn't worth being by his side. Maybe that was why he didn't even realize the exploding cliff until Leona screamed his name.
"YUUKEN!"
Yuuken almost looked up too late as the human-size snake rose, possibly taller than the stairs leading to Cloud Reccess. Before he could reach for his sword, Jonah suddenly appeared in front of him, raising his hand as his golden eye glowed to summon his power. It protected them and attacked the snake at the same time, slicing through the thick skin as it screeched. An arrow suddenly flew through the air, hitting the bullseye right in the snake's eye. With a final loud screech, the snake fell down, causing the ground to shake. Yuuken turned around toward where the arrow came from, finding Riddle Rosehearts with his bow raised.
"What's going on?!"
Looking up, Yuuken could see Claudia, along with some of their House disciples, jumping down from her sword and quickly running toward Yuuken. Her hands were on his upper arm out of concern. "Yuuken, dear. Are you alright?"
Yuuken tried to calm her. "I'm fine, First Lady Claudia."
"Did the brat bully you again?"
"Mother!" Leona exclaimed, clearly not happy with the accusation. But Yuuken couldn't look up to defend him, not when Leona did in a way.
Claudia huffed, turning toward her son. "Leona Kingscholar! Do I need to spank you again?!"
"It doesn't matter what Sir Kingscholar said," Jonah said, positioning himself between Yuuken and the Kingscholars. "From now on, he and Yuuken-oniisama will walk on their own separate ways."
"Now see here, Sir Argentum." A Kingscholar disciple came forward, standing next to the snake corpse with a look of annoyance despite his regal posture. Yuuken knew him. Farena Kingscholar, Leona's brother. "Aren't you being too arrogant for talking to your elder like this?"
Jonah scoffed at him. "I'm trying to go against First Lady Kingscholar. But your brother has bullied oniisama several times. How am I the arrogant one here?"
"How are you not arrogant one?" Farena landed his foot on the snake's head, twisting like he was squishing some ants underneath. "Catching a third of a prey. Not even leaving us the snake. Are you purposely showing off your demonic skill?" He sighed in disappointment. "The House Crowley's upbringing is nothing more but that."
"Farena!" Claudia warned.
But Jonah just chuckled. "Upbringings? Demonic?" His hand reached for the flute that was fastened on his belt where Captain's Order previously was. Yuuken watched his brother worriedly. He knew he wouldn't hurt anyone, however, no one know how far his new power could extend.
"Jonah." It seemed that Riddle had the same thought as him as he called him, but Jonah either didn't listen or purposely ignored him. He had a mocking smile on his face as he spun his flute with one hand, challenging Farena who watched him as if he was being insulted.
"I may never bring my sword anymore, but I can still beat you any day with my so-called Demonic power." He stopped spinning his flute and his golden eye glowed as a warning. "You guys all are no match for me!"
Farena sucked in a breath. He gritted his teeth, his growls were audible, and his fists were curled. "Argentum!" He pointed at Jonah. "You're nothing but a servant's son! Don't get too cocky!"
Yuuken let out a gasp. He looked at Jonah almost quickly. His brother was silent for a second, but Yuuken knew his anger was brewing. "Oh." He chuckled. "So that's how you wanna play?"
Riddle was quick to step in first, grabbing Jonah's trembling hand that was holding his flute to avoid bringing it to his lips. "Jonah. Focus." But Jonah once again didn't listen to him, too furious to even acknowledge Riddle. Everyone could feel the air changing like the first sign of a dangerous storm as red auras trickled down his clenched fist.
Yuuken walked toward him, positioning himself in front of Jonah and putting a hand on his shoulder, giving him a gentle yet grounding squeeze. "Jonah-kun." When he didn't get any response, Yuuken pressed a hand onto his cheek. "Jonah-kun, come back to me."
Jonah sucked in a breath and finally came out of his trance. He looked up at Yuuken with a panting breath. "Yuuken-niisama..."
Yuuken couldn't help but smile, relieve that Jonah was back again. "Stand behind me, okay?" he whispered. He turned around as he gently push Jonah behind him.
Yuuken stared Farena straight in the eyes, standing tall without any trace of fear. The young man in front of him had stepped the line. Jonah's parents had been a sore subject in their family, more often than not the arguments between his birth parents. But it never hinders Jonah's smile which Yuuken has loved ever since their first meeting. Even when his mother didn't like Jonah in the family, Yuuken made it his life goal to love his new adopted brother just like how he loved his birth sister.
"Sir Farena," he started. His voice was steady and not wanting to show any anger. "From what you said earlier, Jonah caught a third of the monsters in Phoenix Mountain. He was unruly and too cocky. He intentionally caused trouble for you." He bowed him. "I apologize to you all on his behalf."
"Oniisama!" Jonah cried, but Yuuken just glanced back and gave him a headshake.
Farena chuckled. "Sir Yuuken, you really are kind and understanding." He eyed Jonah who looked like he was ready to pounce at Farena if it wasn't for Riddle still holding his hand. "What your brother did was extremely inappropriate and made quite a fuss." He looked back at Yuuken, a victorious smile on his face. "But for Sir Yuuken and Lady Yuuka's sake, there's no need to apologize. House Crowley of Dawn and House Kingscholar of Afterglow are like siblings."
Yuuken nodded and continued with his chin raised high. "However, while I don't join in a hunt that often, I know that throughout the years of hunting, I've never heard of a rule that forbids someone from hunting too much prey. If Jonah broke a rule, which one was it?"
Farena blinked confusedly. "What?"
"Sir Yuuken, what you said might not be the best way to put it," an older Kingscholar disciple spoke up. "Although it was not written, everyone understands clearly and obeys them well."
"That's right," another younger one chimed in. "How much prey is in the area in total? Probably below five hundred. That's so little compared to the five thousand hunters attending this! And Argentum hog them for himself! What are we supposed to do?"
"It isn't his fault that others can't capture any prey," Yuuken spoke without looking at who spoke, still focusing on Farena who slowly became more annoyed at him. "Isn't the hunt all about a test of one's skill? Although the methods that Jonah-kun used are different from others, it's still his magical skill that he build on his own. Just because the others can no longer hunt that third of the prey, you can't say he follows an unorthodox path. In the end, hunting is hunting. There's no need to bring up about upbringings. Jonah-kun is a disciple of House Crowley of Dawn. He grew up with my sister and me and is as close as a brother is to me. I will not accept anyone calling him a 'servant's son'. A mockery toward him means a mockery toward our House."
Yuuken stepped forward until his chest nearly touched Farena's. He took a deep breath before releasing it through his nose. His heart was hammering hard behind his chest. He knew what he was doing was right. All for his little brother. "So, I hope that Sir Farena Kingscholar will apologize to Jonah Argentum of House Crowley of Dawn."
Farena was taken back, just like the others from the murmurs. Jonah looked like he was going to cry, while Riddle nodded at him with respect.
Claudia stepped forward, a hand on his arm and rubbing gently. "Yuuken, dear. It's a small matter. Don't be angry anymore."
Yuuken turned to her, smiling out of respect. "First Lady Claudia. Jonah-kun is my brother. I won't let anyone insult him."
He looked up to Jonah and smiled with a promise. Promise that no matter what, he will love his dearest brother.
And he still loves him until his final breath.

Why 3 x 3?
A bit of a wacky tobaccy theory, but hear me out.
What if the (oh so cliche) bat boys were paired with the Archeron girls not only because of mate bonds and whatnot, but because the men activate and sustain the girls' magic?
What do we know so far?
Tamlin refused to train the newly-Fae Feyre in her magic. While Rhys kept insisting that she needs to be trainer. He went to so far as to say that not using your magic can drive you insane. He had to do small magicks in order to siphon some of it off himself.
Now, remember how depressed and mentally and physically sick Feyre was after she was brought back. She was withering in front of everyone's eyes. And she wasn't being trained at all by Tamlin.
Once Rhys began to challenge her and make her do small magical exercises, she began to revert to something new: healthy, more confident, and eventually powerful. She mastered and sustained her magic, eventually being powerful enough to heal the Cauldron itself (it didn't end well, but nevertheless, her power is immense).
Let's talk Nesta--basically, a similar situation as Feyre. Mentally and physically completely wiped out. Extremely depressed, barely functioning, and definitely not using her powers. In fact, she found her power something grotesque and unnatural.
Enter Cassian. Yes, he begins to physically work out with, dealing with her body first (I mean, in many various ways, but let's just talk about their work outs and her lactic acid buildup!), because that's what he does--he is a soldier, a warrior, and his strength is his power. Cassian had said many times that he doesn't really posses any magic outside of his siphons. But what does he do? He takes Nesta to the blacksmith. He (Cassian) lacking in magic, doesn't actually teach or show Nesta anything magical. What what he did was he, like Rhys with Feyre, presented her with an avenue to explore and exercise her magic. And she creates Ataraxia. A magical sword, that becomes both her teacher and her companion and her student, as well as the ultimate extension of her magic. Cassian also helps and supports Nesta is scrying, which, yet again, allows her to release the horrendous magnitude of her magic and with the finding of the trove objects, she begins to wield it, and grow into it. The HOFAS Nesta is very different (magically) from the ACOSF Nesta.
Lastly, we have Elain. Oh look! it's a pattern! Elain is extremely depressed, after being Made. She is starving, she is mumbling to herself, she is almost catatonic.
Enter Azriel. Of course Elain is not using her magic, and no one even understands what it is and how it manifests. But he--equipped with the language and raw magic of the shadows--he understands what is 'wrong' with her. He is the one who names her magic--Sight. She was made a Seer. And virtually as soon as Elain starts to use her magic, as soon as she is able to voice her visions, she begins to feel better. It was a gradual process just like with her sisters, but by the time Azriel handed her Truth Teller, another part of HIS magic, which also became hers, she was coherent and strong enough to use the shadows of the knife, walk across the battlefield and thrust it into the king's neck. By the time the war was over, Elain, who'd used her magic earlier than Nesta, was in a much better shape, and she announced that she'd like to build and grow more gardens. (I am not even touching 'the world needs more gardens!' right now, in light of HOFAS).
Rhys's greatest power is his magic, and that's what he begins to teach Feyre as soon as possible. His power in almost infinite, but so is hers, and together, they are able to reforge the Cauldron and win the War.
Cassian's power is his physicality and his ability as a warrior. That's what he begins to teach Nesta as soon as he is able. He then, leads her to the thing that becomes her outlet and the thing that allows her to create her great weapon, which now became the extension of her power.
Azriel's power is his unique shadowsinging abilities--he can see and hear what no one else can, as well as hide in plain sight. An extension of his power is Truth Teller--a mysterious Made weapon that he didn't allow anyone to touch. What does he do with Elain?--he realises that she is a Seer (giving her the 'Sight' that she didn't know she had). Down the road, he also offers her Truth Teller, as another avenue to use her Made gifts--the power to handle a Made weapon.
I think the batboys were created for the Archeron girls. Not just as mates, not just as lovers, and not only as someone similar in powers to them. I think they were the 'keys' to unlock the powers of the Archeron sisters. They are also the sustainers of that power. Without them, the sisters would've perished under the burden of their magic.
I think that that aligns well with the fact that both Hunt and Rowan served a similar role for Aelin and Bryce respectively. They unlocked the wells of power and insane levels of their girls' magic, but also 'regulated' it. Without them, the magic would've consumed all of the woman--Aelin, Feyre, Byrce, Nesta and Elain.
Three and three is not a 'cliche'. It's a pattern that stretches across all of SJM's series. I think that the men, who are all significantly older than the women, were created first, and given all that time to learn and manage their power and their magic. By the time the girls arrived, the order was established and ready to receive them and help them. The women always lead, and are more powerful than the men. But the men are needed to activate and guide their mates' powers.

Manga Recommendation: Tower Dungeon
So looks like Arkus Rhapsode is here to recommend another fantasy manga after the last one. So this time we're going for a bit of a different flavor with the series Tower Dungeon by by Tsutomu Nihei who you may know as the creator of Blame! and Knights of Sidonia.
Tumblr media
Now I've known about this series for a bit even though it is relatively new. Having only started last year in Monthly Shonen Sirius. But I remember its announcement from people like Manga Mogul and hearing Makoto Yukimura (Author of the incredible Vinland Saga) recommending it. Now I always loved Sword and sorcery so I was gonna read it eventually, but it just wasn't translated. However, now being able to read the available chapters, I can say this is a very different type of fantasy series.
The premise is very basic: An evil sorcerer has killed a nation's king and kidnapped a Princess and now the royal knights need to ascend the "Dragon Tower" to save her. One battalion has conscripted a young man named Yuva for assisting troops medically has found he has impressive strength. Now Yuva must strengthen himself for the journey ahead as they explore the deadly tower.
Now like all simple premise stories, the real strength is in execution. And unlike the other fantasy series I've talked about before which have bucked the trend of "RPG fantasy" be leaning more into a traditionalist fantasy stories a la Tolkien, this goes for the more realist fantasy of something like Berserk or Dark Souls.
Tumblr media
The world of Tower Dungeon may have things like magic and dragons, but it is a dingy, dirty, and lacks any frills. Knights wear heavy armor and people are covered in blood and scars from their adventures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The mighty Dragon Tower itself? The most iconic thing about this series and the basis of the adventure? Looks like this. This isn't an opulent tower, this is a massive imposing structure where monsters dwell.
Tumblr media
However, unlike some grim dark or edgy fantasies, this world isn't indulgent in its darkness. The violence and death are never cool or cheap. They are simply the way the world is. Even when magic exists, the world is still like Medieval Europe and all the "joys" that come from it.
The people as well are similar. These aren't romanticized or polished fantasy archetypes that often come with the idea of a Dungeons and Dragons style adventure, these feel like average joes plucked off the streets having to do a job. If you are say a fan of something like Chainsaw Man, this sort of post modern emphasis on people acting like regular weirdos and not some "anime characters." And I think that is something quite nice that even in a fantastical world, we can see our regular selves in them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But that's just the story, what about the art? Well if you've noticed this series does have a very minimalist style. Something similar to that of Land of the Lustrous or Chainsaw Man. These almost scratchy and not the most detailed designs that make use of their simplicity to create this very unique atmosphere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Creature designs themselves are less fantastical and more grody. Feeling as if they come from an off shoot of man rather than some majestic beast. Right down to the cat people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This series is still new and sadly hasn't been officially translated yet. I've had to use mangadex to read this, so my heart goes out to the translator team. I can understand that this may be a niche that's not for everyone, but its something that feels like such a good sign for fantasy as a genre. A genre that I think has somewhat been stagnated in popular belief with the greater emphasis on Urban Action manga and the reliance on escapist fantasy anime like isekai. To see a more dirty but down to earth take on the premise, I highly recommend it.

In a recent interview, Eiichiro Oda said that he probably won't do any more manga after One Piece (or at least nothing huge) because the world he constructed for One Piece inadvertently allowed him to explore pretty much every type of story he wanted to: Mock Town was a Western, Egghead is both a sci-fi and a murder mystery, Thriller Bark was a horror, etc. He never did it, but Oda probably could have found a way to work in a high school drama or romantic comedy if he'd really wanted to. I would argue that's how the Hungry Days promotion came about, he probably wanted to see it explored at least a little bit but couldn't quite find a good excuse for it
Undead Unluck, as I think at least one of us has mentioned before, is very similar: it can be whatever it wants to be whenever it wants to be. A sci-fi horror against the emotion-eating aliens on the space station, a zombie apocalypse Western against Spoil, a wuxia against Feng, competitive gaming against Spring, sports against Void, and now of course the high school AU centered around Chikara; Undead Unluck can do it all! If we end up going into Lucy's mind and it becomes a swords and sorcery fantasy with Lucy captive in a castle by a dragonified Ruin, would any of you really be surprised? Would any of you even complain? I wouldn't, and in fact I hope it happens now. That'd be such a funny way to get both Ruin and Lucy back into the main story
I don't know if I've ever really talked about it before, but there are certain niches that Jump manga fill. I don't mean in the sense of genre like sports or gag manga, I mean more thematically. When My Hero Academia started, the consensus was that it was the "new Naruto," with its plucky underdog protagonist competing with a cruel and prodigious rival and a society that discredits him for the circumstances of his birth. Black Clover draws inspiration from a ton of big name manga, but Bleach is probably the one that it best resembles in the structure of its world (the Clover Kingdom resembles Soul Society, the Magic Knight squads resemble the Thirteen Court Squads, and the Grimoires are basically simplified Zanpakutou)
Over the years, I've seen many things take major inspiration from Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, etc., but shockingly, there was a long stretch where I never saw anything try to emulate One Piece, at least not in a way that was particularly obvious. The closest was Toriko, creating wild and imaginative animals, plants, etc. the same way that One Piece creates its islands, but nothing had a cast that felt reminiscent to me
Interestingly, the first one that I noticed that felt like what I was looking for was Dr. Stone, and that only sunk in for me when Senku had his group build a boat and put up a sail with their own unique symbol. I realized in that moment that where Toriko had covered the spirit of adventure that One Piece had, Dr. Stone covered the spirit of friendship and togetherness: every time a dilemma came up, the solution was almost always finding a new ally and awakening their talents, applying them in a way that they'd never thought to before, or reconciling with an old enemy for the sake of progress. "My friends are here to do the things I can't, and I'm here to do what they can't." This is one of the core tenets of One Piece, and while it took me a while to notice, it was equally a part of Dr. Stone's core as well
Undead Unluck does something pretty similar, though not as overtly, since the cast don't really have neat roles like "navigator" or "doctor" or "chef;" instead, everyone has their areas of expertise that can be used in multiple situations, so the individuals best suited for each situation are carefully selected, and if none are available, the hunt begins for someone who is. I think this didn't sink in because it didn't become nearly as prevalent until after the timeloop, but in retrospect, the first half of the story was like the pre-timeskip Straw Hats', unprepared and unable to reach the world's ceiling when finally faced with it, only to come back stronger and wiser in their journey to come back together
Coupled with its ability to be (Chucky voice) genre-fluid, Undead Unluck has unexpectedly become in my opinion a more than worthy successor to One Piece's particular niche in Jump. I've had this thought for a while now, but I think that Undead Unluck might actually be a good glimpse into what One Piece would have been like if Oda had been able to stick to his original five-year plan. It isn't able to take nearly as much time to flesh out its world, but its streamlined approach elegantly allows us to get to know enough about the cast to be invested while still allowing attentive viewers to pick up on fine details. Where One Piece ballooned to be a 30-year venture because Oda kept having more ideas he wanted to share and angles he wanted to analyze, Undead Unluck seems to have a stronger clarity to its vision and commitment to ensuring that vision is realized ASAP without sacrificing any of the essentials. Neither approach is wrong, it's just good to see that there is in fact a world that exists where One Piece would have been able to be just as solidly executed even without entertaining every whim and flight of fancy that its author could dream of
Of course, One Piece is still going, and likely will be when Undead Unluck naturally concludes, so calling UU its successor is definitely a bit of an overstatement, but my main point is that I'm glad that we're starting to see authors who aren't afraid of sharing One Piece's niche, and more importantly are doing it in a way that's fairly subtle, but identifiable. It's an extremely comforting sign for the rapidly approaching post-One Piece world, and I can't wait to see what fills the coming power vacuum

Winter Wolf - By 순무 (sunmu) (8.5/10)
Tumblr media
The aftermath of a civil war. A bloody revolution. A lonely mansion in the snow. The setting for this story is very unique, and isolation is a key theme. The two lovers here are one part of a larger, sadder story.
Lyshteia is a noble woman known for her red hair, which is the symbol of her family. That family is no more. Lyshteia is not a bad person, but her parents chose the wrong side of a revolution. They were punished. Assassinated off screen before their daughter could marry. Lyshteia was betrothed to the handsome Prince Jude, but sadly he also chose the wrong side. Lyshteia's family and fiance died in quick succession, and she was left with nothing. Not even information.
Tumblr media
It seems like poor Lyshteia wasn't included in the plan, but she is being punished as well. Her life as a noble woman is gone. She has one relative left. An aunt across the sea. She has to somehow get there, and find another husband. The setting of this story is extremely gritty. There's no magic. The revolution toppled powerful noble families one after another, because in this world a mob is stronger than any sword.
Tumblr media
The story begins here, in the woods. Lyshteia is looking for an information broker named Terren. She doesn't trust brokers. She's been burned by a few and she has no money left. Her horse abandons her, and she wanders through wolf infested land until she finds his residence.
Tumblr media
Terren is a handsome man, who is also a realist. He says she is trapped. She is at the end of her rope. The winter season is bitter this particular year. He can't take her to the sea port. It is frozen over. Ships cannot pass. The very last ships are leaving in three days, and there is no possible way for her to sneak on.
She's stuck with him.
Tumblr media
He taunts her, as if he wants to test her. Terren just told her that she's stuck in wolf territory with a man she doesn't know. In the dead of winter, with revolutionary soldiers on her tail. There is an assassin hunting for Lyshteia and the few nobles that are left.
Lyshteia makes a solid offer. If he doesn't kill her or throw her out he will be rewarded when she meets her aunt.
Tumblr media
Lyshteia has been through alot. She has barely escaped death by mob stomping several times. She had to travel alone during the beginning of winter as well. She had to sell off all of her possessions just to get across the country. Just to get another inch closer to the port.
She's not going to give up now.
His teasing doesn't affect her much. She's afraid, but she doesn't cry.
Tumblr media
Terren mentions her noble manners and her beauty. He says she needs to forget useless things like manners. In this setting being noble means you are a target. Lyshteia says she literally doesn't know how to act like a commoner. She was engaged to a prince, after all. There's really no point in pretending. She is well known for her hair, and she doesn't trust anybody anymore.
She would rather be alone, but she thinks Terren is handsome. She has been lonely and scared for a long time. After some flirting (that feels suspicious for some reason) they have sex.
Tumblr media
Terren doesn't seem like a nice guy. The plot twist is kind of obvious. When Lyshteia confesses to him she saves her own life. His real name is Ian. He was hired by the leader of the revolution. His work name is Phantom. He has been paid top dollar to kill everyone left with noble blood. He doesn't kill Lyshteia because of a series of coincidences, and her passionate confession. Lyshteia is a tough woman. She's his type. Ian is willing to risk it all to save her.
Tumblr media
He also slaughters some of his own employees and allies to protect her. The former future queen is a big target. An expensive one. If he won't kill her somebody else will. He teaches her how to use a gun, and his act falls apart. Lyshteia becomes suspicious of him, but they still have lots of sex.
Tumblr media
The plot gets thick. Lyshteia does make it to her aunt's house, but she is damaged goods. She is no longer queen material. Her aunt tries to marry her off to an old man, because of her damaged past. Ian comes for her. He whisks her away from her shitty life as a princess. She becomes a kindergarten teacher, and he's a very devoted husband. He leaves the assassin life behind for her as well I think. He definitely becomes happier. They are genuinely a good couple, but I was worried for a second there. Ian doesn't have normal common sense. He's overly practical. I would call him a lighter yandere, but he does do alot of killing for her. The easiest option was beheading her after sex and taking the bounty. Helping her and loving her was a massive risk for Ian. He's not some guy with superpowers. He's just a guy with a gun, so his devotion feels very sincere and also unhinged. There's no judge or jury here. Ian could have been murdered for helping her, but he did it anyway.

The world of Devros: A Brief Intro of the History and Races
Devros is a world of kingdoms. There are two that I mainly focus on that lie in the eastern region. Tallis is the main focus and the largest most diverse kingdom, and Cadmus, a much smaller, though not necessarily weaker, ally. These kingdoms joined forces around 200 years ago when threatened by a barbarian race called the Drar. The two kingdoms, with the help of several others, managed to beat back the Drar’s marauding forces, but not before Tallis lost nearly 60% of their forces to both combat and civilians being abducted and sacrificed by the Drar. Once defeated, no one had an idea what to do with the Drar, they were violent and destructive, and they couldn’t just let them go just to come back in a few months. None of the kingdoms had the facilities to imprison an entire race either. Execution was discussed but left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. In the end they decided to enslave them, at least until their terrifying culture died out. However, over the years, an entire economy rose up around slavery and the practice, as of yet has not been put to an end and has become more brutal as time passes.
In the current story Tallis and Cadmus are teetering on being enemies after the oldest prince, Veles at the time (Annika’s uncle) fell in love with a Drar woman named Meekah. Due to this he rejected an arranged marriage with Libelle, the youngest daughter of Cadmus. In anger King Emyr had the woman executed in a gladiatorial style battle to entertain an envoy from Cadmus. As a result, Veles poisoned his father who banished him before dying several days later. This incident has had far reaching consequences for almost every character in the current story, even the ones who haven’t been born yet.
The Races:
Tallisians: a winged race with psionic type abilities, they are physically very weak though. They have white hair and pale skin that is tinged slightly blue. Due to their powerful psionics like mind reading, they make up the ruling class of Tallis.
Valtan: many years ago, in ancient history, they were a nomadic race, but now they reside permanently in Tallis and make up the majority of her citizens. They have a fair to medium complexion. Valtan can control the elements to varying degrees, but usually can’t project very far. They are physically stronger than the Tallisians, but nothing super incredible.
Drar: the barbarian race that nearly destroyed the civilized world and now live as slaves. They have a deeply tanned complexion and yellow eyes with vertical pupils. They possess no magic but more than make up for it with their strength, speed, enhanced senses, and they heal incredibly fast. Their senses are a double-edged sword though, they are more sensitive to magic, especially that of the Tallisisan’s mental abilities. An enhanced sense of feeling means they feel pain more keenly as well. A set of wrist and ankle cuffs and a collar are placed on them from birth to keep them from ever escaping or rebelling.
Cadmians: the race that resides in Cadmus. They are mostly ordinary humans. They have dark complexions. They do possess a unique ability, however, which puts them on equal footing to the other races: they make pacts with dragons. This is customarily done when they reach 16. A ceremony takes place, and they go out into the wilderness surrounding their kingdom to seek a dragon to make a pact with. Every pact is completely unique and individual to the dragon and their partner. A pact is signifed by a dragon giving the Cadmian some of their scales, which are brought back and implanted into their skin, similar to a piercing. The pact also allows the Cadmian to borrow certain parts of the dragon's power for a limited amount of time. People who are unable or unwilling to make a pact usually become outcasts, many of them immigrate to Tallis, so there is a good number of Cadmians in Tallis as well.
Dravok: they are a sister race to the Drar, from the are to the west of the civilized world called only ‘the wild lands.’ Like the Drar, the Dravok have inhuman strength, however, instead of heightened senses they have infrared vision at night and can use blood magic. This blood magic is actually the bases for the bands the Drar are forced to wear to keep them under control.

Unique Magic/Signature Spell — “You Can’t Hide” : Numair’s Unique Magic allows him to predict another person movements and spells for a certain amount time. The longer he uses this spell, the longer he’ll have to wait until he is able to cast it again.
Personality:
He doesn’t really talk much about himself, instead, he prefers to listen and likes to observe the little things about his friends.
Numair is a stoic and peaceful person. More often than wanted, he is seen as insensitive as he shows no concern for situations where others suffer unless he himself is directly involved. He prefers not to start unnecessary fights. However, if pushed too far, he will snap and let his narcissist and presumptuous side show to others.
Coffin Icon:
Tumblr media
He is heavily inspired by Shere Khan, from “Mowgli”.
Notable Relationships:
Vil Schoenheit: They have been friends since their first year in NRC, and hang out together a lot. Although they have pretty different personalities, they bond over similar interests and like to have each other’s opinion on things.
Epel Fiemer: He didn’t used to be close with Epel, but as he silently disapproved the way Vil acted with Epel, he tries to put Epel's mind at ease and distract him from bad thoughts. After that, both of them started to enjoy the time they spent together. Sometimes, Numair adjust his own clothes to fit Epel’s size (hidden from Vil, obviously).
Leona Kingscholar: They used to fight a lot during their first year. I mean, two guys who think they’re the best being in the same dorm is not generally a good idea. They still quite don’t get along, but at least they’re able to have a somewhat decent conversation.
Ruggie Buchi: Ruggie likes to try to mess with Numair, since he knows that he is the type of person that Numair can’t deal with the most, but almost all of his tries have ended unsuccessful.
Jack Howl: They aren’t really close friends, but Numair secretly admires him for his boldness after knowing that he also went against Leona during the sabotage of Diasomnia.
Trivia:
His hobbies, actually started off just of him wanting to be a better older brother, to continue being the inspiration of his younger sisters even if they were already growing up to be in their teenage years.
As he is great friends with Vil Schoenheit and with other Pomefiore students, he’s often found in the Pomefiore Dorm.
Despite of his stoic expressions, he speaks politely and with a soft tone to everyone.
He knows people from other schools, such as some students from Royal Sword Academy.
(I didn't had any ideas for bonus icons or other illustrations, but I may update this post later~~)

Standing before her original self's Popsicle-stick grave, Annette thinks, okay, I'm the real one. This prospect causing her no special distress or dissonance to contemplate, she realizes: man, this Theseus shit is easy.
Honestly, she hadn't expected to work through it so quickly, and likely wouldn't have if her amnesia hadn't been such a maturity upgrade. But it made sense, didn't it? The other girl had arrived an objective shit-ass, then after requisite formative experiences became a decent, likable person and darling of her hometown. Annette (who felt very satisfied with her new name, even if it was just for private use) had lucked out – had been a stroke of luck for everyone, she figured – because she had just the requisite formative experiences, minus the baggage of pre-Amphibia memories, skipping all the codependency and toxicity and pointless extra human content. She was a reformed kid making good without having ever been a bad one.
Hence the grave. She'd made it out of Popsicle sticks and stuck it in the abandoned playground where they'd left for Amphibia – in the sandbox, specifically, where it might be mistaken for an arts and crafts project by a morbid kindergarten kid. Annette regarded it, boundary-mark for the last unique and unclaimed moment of the other girl's life, and trusted that Marcy wouldn't ask too many questions when she got back. Maybe she'd assume Annette had lost a Wartwooder and was mourning in this way, which she of course hadn't, because if she had she would have killed every human in California and then herself. Some prospects just weren't worth considering. But the other girl deserved something.
Of course, Annette remembered remembering – remembered remembering often, for example, the heady adolescent cocktail that was the other girl's longstanding Waybright animus. Even prior to their escape there had evidently been some tension, judging by things Sasha said in the group therapy that Annette wasn't attending.
The Plantar basement had put a kibosh on that, mostly, but there were several homoerotic sword fights to compensate. And then of course Sasha'd seen her other codependent girlbestie die, reformed herself, started an entirely separate paramilitary organization from her first one like she was fucking Big Boss, and made good for all those ugly years of manipuatlion with an act of love sufficient to break the ancien regime of paradise, except, well –
The redemption had kind of fallen flat for Annette. She'd only caught the tail end of the movie. She could appreciate a worshipful and surprisingly obedient blonde girl with muscles like, Jesus, on account of all the paramilitaries, but Anne's Sasha minus context was just Annette's Cmdr. Waybright, a comrade in the magic frog war from a battlefield she'd never visit again.

Aisha Campbell known children and oc children. Aisha got done dirty by the franchise. All of the Stone Canyon Trio did, but she was done dirty. At least now we know she did come back from the past fine, and is thriving but…man. She’s a great character and they did nothing new or interesting or explorative with her. And they still really aren’t? Can we get a proper comic for the Stone Canyon Trio that lets them really shine? I’m tired of the ones that seem to then focus on the originals or Matt last minute. Nothing against Matt. At least fanfiction can fix it but still.
Canon Children;
None that we know of
OC Children for Aisha Campbell;
Tommy Oliver;
While Aisha acknowledges Tommy as the leader, she doesn’t let him get away with shit. Uniquely while Kat and Kim and Trini didn’t either, Aisha and Tommy had just enough of a rivalry together that Tommy couldn’t quite dare to pull some things around Aisha. Aisha came after the whole “villain Tommy” and just knew him as the himbo dork who loved his friends and being a power ranger.
They never got married, but they do have kids together. Mostly they live with their lives revolving around each other and their kids, but never quite together together. Aisha didn’t think she could be whatever Tommy was looking for and Tommy knew he wasn’t that for Aisha either. But, they liked each other enough for kids, and they’re still good friends. It’s fairly amicable and flexible. They have twin daughters, Fillipa and Lucinda Campbell, aged sixteen.
Fillipa is older by eight hours. She’s into sword-dancing and gymnastics. Friendly to everyone, but doesn’t let anyone walk over her. Fillipa is the school class president, and helped set up a other species welcoming committee into the school. Other variations of humans, aliens, mutants, magical species, even androids, are welcomed and the committee helps incorporate them into the school into friend groups to encourage fellow classmates and teachers to treat these new classmates as normal people. It’s an uphill battle, but she thinks it’s worth it. Her running mate and best friend is a young Tenga queen named Clack, and both of them believe everyone could benefit from a friendship like theirs. It’s been bumpy but it’s somewhat working. At the very least it seems the current ranger team is made up of a wide range of species, and this makes Fillipa very very happy. Not associated with a color but if she were it’d be yellow.
Lucinda Campbell is a rodeo horseback rider, and does the Indian bareback racing and bronco riding. Aisha saw her daughter fall in love with mechanical bucking bronco rides at the mall, looked over at Tommy and went “if I see her as a red ranger later I’m blaming you.” Lucinda isn’t a red ranger.
She’s a green.
Hilariously neither Tommy nor Aisha seem to have realized this yet. Then again, the most green she wears is a green braided bracelet and socks. She loves her sister, and is grateful to her and Clack for being advocates for normalizing species integration, because she couldn’t possibly ask for a better team. They have each other’s backs, cover for each other, take part and enjoy each other’s hobbies, and she loves them all deeply. This is her team.
She’s not supposed to be doing anything with wild horses; she promised her parents not till she was in her 20’s. She’s also got such a skill with them now that if they saw her they’d instantly know she was a ranger. So, this is also a secret. At least good old uncle David’s willing to keep the secret. And offer advise to the team and his nieces when needed.
Kat Hillard;
Tommy wasn't the one who managed to break Kat out of the mind control; it was Aisha. Aisha and Kat both left the rangers, and Aisha chose Tina as her replacement. They got a job together at the animal shelter, and they adopted several years later as chaos reigned around them. They have one daughter, Natalie, aged fourteen. They adopted Natalie at birth. The girl is wise beyond her years, and often too serious, but she's also got wells of dry humor and likes teasing her moms. not associated with a color, probably better off for it.
Kimberly Hart;
They quickly became fast friends, and Aisha caught feelings for the pink really really quickly. However, she didn't say anything until Kim left the rangers and was replaced by Kat. She was going on scholarship, and they started a long distance relationship. Eventually they got married after Aisha herself retired from rangerdom. Together with Anubis Cruger, they founded SPD. The wives have one son, a wild card named Benedict "Ben" Campbell. Aged 24. Benedict is currently in Ranger Academy, and has broken nearly every rule so far. Just for fun, just to see what'll happen. He's not a bad guy, he just simply wants to test limits. Of both himself and the world around him. When he graduates school he will be a Pink Ranger on D Team.
Adam Park;
It was just natural for them to get together. They’ve been friends together since forever, they’ve always been friends and it progressing to a little bit more made sense. They got married a little after joining SPD together. They have four kids together. Wendell, aged 26, Rocky, aged 26, Koniqua, aged 19, and Jacqueline “Jaq” Park, aged 17.
No way they weren’t going to name one of their kids after their closest friend aside from each other. Rocky was best man at their wedding even. When they found out they were having twins they simply used the middle name they were intending for a boy for Wendell. Rocky’s the older by eight hours, Wendell was a more difficult pregnancy and took his time, which actually was a foreshadowing to the twins’ personalities.
Rocky Park is rambunctious and a goofball. He loves making people laugh. Like his mom he’s empathetic and strong willed. Like his dad he’s prone to flashes of intense introspection, but never for long. Surprises people with his love of classical music. He’s enthusiastic to the point of being intense. Can be hard for him to dial it back. He’s a yellow ranger for his team.
Wendell is everything Rocky is not, and is a little bit of a little shit. He's often not noticed by other people, and tends to use that to his advantage. He knows his brother is a yellow ranger, and while he's not a ranger, he takes the opportunity to tackle or ram cars or steal from the monsters of the week. he's not noticed and it gives other rangers openings usually. He's given Rocky everything he's stolen, and is pleased when they're incorporated into the team's arsenal.
Koniqua is a lover of poetry, fables, and the history of the power rangers. She's determined to be one of the scientists who creates a new team, or unlocks the mysteries of the grid for general use. Pragmatic, quick thinking, happy to help her dumb brothers. They don't think she knows. She knew who'd saved her as soon as Rocky said "you're safe now civilian" and tried to act dumb. She barely resisted the urge to call him out. Doesn't bother fighting the monsters, her brothers got that covered, but she does help get other civilians to safety when needed. not associated with a color. She's going into historical costuming, with the intention of working for tv productions.
Jaq would love to know why earth is so valuable to bad guys that they keep trying to take it over. Genre savvy type, and doesn't take shit. Has psyched out two villains and one of the comedy duo by just asking over and over "okay but why". Not popular, has two best friends and they're all kind of outsiders. Prefers it this way. You will not find Jaq anywhere near the monsters when they appear, she's gone and dragging her friends off with her. not associated with a color, but has made the big bad main villain question themself and then cry. her brother was torn between disappointed, impressed, and terrified of his little sister. Jaq's considering maybe being a therapist specializing in rangers and their villains would be a lucrative career move.
Rocky DeSantos;
Rocky and Aisha fit well. She gets his humor, he knows how to match her energy and keep her from burning the wick at two ends. So when they got together nobody was remotely surprised. They have two kids, one naturally and one adopted. Landon, aged 12, and Saffie, aged 14.
Landon's been with Rocky and Aisha since he was three, and he's been really happy with them for as long as he can remember. He's a bit of a bookworm, but mostly prefers nonfiction. If he has to read fiction, it's nothing sci fi related. It bothers him too much when they get simple things you can look up wrong. Like what Tenga Warriors look like, or what space ships need for fuel. Or planets earth trades with. He likes spicy food, and birds. He probably knows more about bird related aliens than the average human. Doesn't know what he wants to be when he grows up, but he does know he wants a parrot. His parents are trying to convince him to choose a bird with a shorter lifespan. He and his sister have a very kind spirited joking relationship. They don't feel like they aren't actual siblings, and he's as protective of her as he likes being a mild pest to her now and then, and she him. Not associated with a color.
Saffie was a surprise baby. Aisha and Rocky had been trying for a kid for a while at this point, and nobody was sure why it just wasn't happening. When they applied for adoption, Saffie was conceived. They still went through with the adoption, and are glad they did, and Saffie is too. She loves Landon a lot, and they have a fairly healthy sibling relationship. Saffie's not exactly a social butterfly, but she's by no means a wallflower either. She keeps to herself, and likes skateboarding and parkour and rock music. Being able to brag about the fact she knows the Skullovitchs personally and she sometimes gets babysat by Eugene Skullovitch's son? Oh it's amazing. Cheeky, high energy, and knows what she wants in life. She's dancing to the beat of her own drum, and is quite happy doing so. Likes reading poetry, a lot, and diy'ing her own clothes (she is not allowed near bleach dye for her jeans after an incident of not screwing the lid on tightly enough and leaving it on the living room floor. Fabric paint is still okay, though). Rocky and Aisha are a little confused by some of her interests, but then she turns around and is so much like both of them they have to laugh. Saffie's just Saffie. Not associated with a color.
Jason Lee Scott;
Surprising everyone, including himself, Billy was chosen for the peace conference, not Jason. Rocky became the blue mighty morphin, and Jason struggled with the new dynamic. He often butt heads with Aisha, who stood up for Adam and Rocky against the Red when her boys wouldn't. Adam, Rocky, and Aisha became a throuple, but Aisha also married Jason, who while he did have to get used to it, likes Rocky and Adam as friends and paramours, and likes that Aisha is happy. Together, Aisha and Jason have one son, Seth Landon Scott, aged seventeen.
Seth is not a ranger, and he's not interested in being a ranger. He's more interested in being a park ranger for national parks. Any would do, just so he can be out in nature. He's not really interested in the ocean, and is far more interested in forests and mountains. strong willed, stubborn, imaginative, and happy to help. Is friends with a lot of rangers and ranger's kids, but, he's happy not being a ranger despite their not so subtle recruitment efforts.
Farkas Bulkmeier;
Nobody saw this coming. However, he invited her to a dance, and she didn’t say no. Then they just saw each other as friends for a few years. New Year’s party and nine months later….well. Actually they work well together, who knew? Bulk can make Aisha laugh, and she helps him set more realistic goals. And they kick ass together. Recently divorced but not on bad terms. Hobart “Hobie” Bulkmeier, though…is struggling. New purple ranger, parents recently divorced, trying to keep grades up and a steady job on top of it? This is. A Lot. He’s a ballet instructor for a babies first ballet type class. Does not put up with bullshit for anything. Not afraid to call people out. He’s dating the green ranger and that’s fine, his parents like his boyfriend. It’s just everything on top of everything on top of everything. Has a bit of an anger issue but he is stressed out. Doesn’t really know how to talk about it, either. He’s usually a very upbeat, positive, and easy going kid. But everything has happened within six months of each other and if he doesn’t get a day off he’s going to blow. His parents are trying but they don’t know how to help if he doesn’t talk to them. He needs a weekend with his boyfriend and no life or death situations for five minutes if you so please.
Eugene Skullovitch;
She asked him out and he thought it was a joke. It wasn't. They found they actually challenge each other in interesting ways. She also hates his mom and her parents love him, so that helped a lot. They've got a daughter, Kensie Campbell. Aged 15. Excitable by nature, is in the drama club. Has a near perfect memory, uses this for shenanigans, mostly when sassing her many many honorary aunts and uncles or annoying villains and monsters. Eugene is so, so proud. Aisha sometimes worries the know it all attitude is going to get her in trouble. However, nothing's happened-yet-and Kensie does seem to slowly be learning how to read the room. She plays piano to help her think. Her favorite is moonlight sonata. It partially annoys Skull, but his favorite composer is Bach, so it's more of a principle thing. Kensie is a soccer player, and has a very close best friend. Skull's getting the "what to in case you're kidnapped by a monster with your best friend" speech ready, just in case a group of crime fighting teenagers with attitude show up. not associated with a color
Scorpina;
When Scorpina pretended to be human, she befriended Rocky, Adam, and Aisha. When the boys fought over her, ‘Selena’ decided to have Aisha as a guide. Although Aisha didn’t trust her and was proven right; There was such an immediate bond it became a matter of contention. Aisha saw through the disguise and decided to make Scorpina regret it, by giving her a reason to be a good person. It worked a little too well, and the two began a very angsty situationship where they had to fight the person they loved most. Constantly. Scorpina couldn't take it anymore, and tricked Aisha into submitting to a mind control for a time so Scorpina wouldn't have to choose between her cause and her girlfriend. The others did break the spell, but Aisha did choose to stay for a while, just to stick with Scorpina. They're not together anymore, but Scorpina did have a daughter with Aisha. Aurellia, aged 19. Aurellia is a warrior and has been in Rito's employ for about two years, but she does want to join her other mom. She wants to know Aisha better, aside from the tense and brief interactions the small family has on her birthday. She wants her moms to reconcile, but is coming to the conclusion that this won't happen. So, she's doing her best as she is, in her current situation. Is a gold ranger.
Rito Revolto;
Aisha can barely stand Rito, but has to acknowledge he's not as stupid or simple or silly as those he loves considers him as. When he lost his memories, Bulk and Skull let it slip to her. Aisha rightfully flipped out on them, but kept it more in the "you turned two people with amnesia into your unpaid SERVANTS?!" and when they thought about it, yea, that....was not a good look. Aisha's plan was redeeming Goldar and Rito while they'd be amenable to actually listening to the reasons for why. She was right, he wasn't dumb, and once he had a little bit of context realized she was the yellow ranger. Rito watched all the carnage and realized the little yellow ranger was right. And when he got his memories back, still agreed she was right. They have one daughter, Phoebe Revolta, aged 22. Phoebe doesn't get along with her cousins Thrax and Selena very much, but she does for the sake of her dad. He believes he can help redeem his niece and nephew, she's not going to argue with this. She's getting pretty upset though, that Grandpa Vile keeps trying to push her dad into teaching her dark arts when Phoebe couldn't be less interested. Wants to be a poet, just trying to get through school. One one side she’s got the Power Rangers on the other she’s got Rita, Zedd, their nightmares, and Vile. Aisha’s become the bane of Vile’s existence on behalf of her daughter and partner. Unfortunately, the mystic side of the family likes causing trouble. Rito’s been unable to get rid of them, so he’s tried to make the best of it, unfortunately for Aisha and Phoebe.
Matthew Cook:
They sort of got together because they just happened to be in each other's vicinity. Everyone was pairing up and they sort of fell into each other as a matter of convenience. They got married, and they're content. They have one kid, Isaiah Cook, aged 16. Aisha and Matthew decided to help Grace and Terona with ranger things, including making a homebrew team such as the Mutant Rangers or Dark Rangers. They're often gone training their teams they've created for the military, much to Isaiah's chagrin.
Isaiah is rebellious in the fact that they know that the best way to get their parents attention is go on about how much they do not want to be involved with power rangers or villains or the comedy duo. Their aunt is the one raising them for the most part, and they travel around America during the long stretches Matt and Aisha aren't around. Isaiah is happy being the background character of their own life. They're just happy to do as much as they can and experience as much as possible, they've only got one life and it's better spent not wasted. And power ranger related shenanigans is wasting it. Currently hoping to be a plumber or go into textile art. They have the skills with both. Isaiah is not associated with a color. If they were, it'd be yellow.

an introduction to Sleepy's wips (this time it's for real)
welcome.
I'd like to sort these by active vs inactive wips, projected novels vs short stories, most recently updated vs neglected, but that's not very helpful, as my wips regularly rotate like they're on a merry-go-round, and I could work on twelve wips in a month or one. or none. the best I can do is list wips I have, indeed, written something for/about them, and then the ideas that have nothing after that.
Category: WIPs
(this category contains content, from a few paragraphs to several thousand words. yeah. I've got range)
Youth: The Ephemeral Infinite (#wip: youth story)
a young adult novel about ten teenagers who have feelings and sometimes talk about them. set in Paris, 2018, over the course of one school year. all ten POVs, and the story is non-linear. it's a combination of the real and surreal, as time feels foggy and all the kids have superpowers. they're not important.
status: draft 0 complete
Dirt in the Doing (#wip: city story)
a new adult novel about attempting to deal with emotional trauma via physical, often violent means. Jet, our POV, will punch anyone who tries to hurt the people he's reluctant to admit he cares about. this particular story has all of my favorite tropes because I'm writing it so I can read it. it's realistic fiction but I call it ci-fi (city fiction).
status: writing draft 0
Spirits and Summoners (#wip: summon story)
a new adult fantasy novel about summoners dealing with spirits, bounties, secrets, and some guy who is spirit-possessing dead dragons. Zan, our POV, is not the main character, and he knows it. this wip is heavily inspired by video games and contains some tributes to their unique ways of storytelling.
status: not trying very hard to either write draft 0 or worldbuild
House of Favors/Swords/Blood (#wip: guild story)
a new adult fantasy novel? about the three guild houses and their apprentices. there isn't really a plot yet. I have two POVs with more planned, and an immortal sorceress with no name.
status: I have started writing draft 0
Mercenary Story (#wip: mercenary story)
an adult? fantasy novel about mercenaries, a princess, shenanigans and questing. and trauma. can't forget the trauma. multiple POVs with a lot to figure out.
status: I have started writing draft 0
Every Other Star is Silent (#wip: anxiety story)
a new adult contemporary novel about Aidan, and his anxieties. set in college, with a tremendous amount of discussion on mental illness. singular POV, with a slightly unreliable narrator.
status: draft 2/draft 1 rewrite (but I haven't worked on it in two years)
Spider Silk (#wip: magick story)
a novella about a small town whose history is being rewritten by someone trying to hoard all the magick, and the few people somewhat unaffected by this who are trying to stop him.
status: I occasionally worldbuild and make cameos for my friends
The Search for Petrichor (#wip: rain story)
a new adult duology about magic, family, control, trust, and powers that everyone forgot about. seven POVs with a vaguely fairytale/folktale retelling vibe. in the same world as Guild Story.
status: unknown (truly, I do not know)
The Score (#wip: death story)
a short story about Lawrence Whitely and his experience in the sideways death world of The Score, and all the lives he sees and remembers in it.
status: in limbo, which is very meta
Princess Rowena (#wip: princess story)
a middle-grade series about Rowena and her friends getting up to magical shenanigans.
status: hanging out in the archive
It's a Big Universe (#wip: space story)
a novelette? about a cosmic being travels around the universe in their little spaceship, all alone, until they're gifted some friends by an oracle. they don't understand the concept at first.
status: I've written some of it! and then I abandoned it
A City Asleep (#wip: apocalypse story)
a short story? about two boys roaming a city after the world falls apart. there is not plot but there are VIBES.
status: two whole scenes! and some thoughts
Trans-dimensional Ghosts (#wip: ghost story)
a ? about a junior warlock who is forced (by oath as a warlock) to help out a young man and the ghost attached to him before the ghost can consume all his energy. trouble is, the ghost appears to be from a different dimension. there's also a werecat, which is fun.
status: there are words for this thing but it's been dead for years
Home is Where the Heart Is (#wip: hunter story)
a short story about the annual quest to find and kill the Winterbeast in order to free the spirit of Spring that's been trapped inside its heart all winter long.
status: the winterbeast is very much alive
The Summer Gallery (#wip: summer story)
a short story about a gallery Jake works at for the summer that may or may not actually exist.
status: it has a great opening line, which is something
The Train Between Us (#wip: train story)
a novella about two strangers meet on the train to work and discuss their careers, emotions, and personal struggles while unaware that they're in a pocket dimension for the duration of the ride each day. They gradually help and comfort each other until the pocket dimension expires.
status: writing chaotically
Category: short fiction/misc.
(this category contains content, just brief)
Gang Up On Crime (#w: sleepy stash)
originally the fanfic of a fanfic, this is now just about gang wars but like, for children. there's violence but it's for babies. I don't know what to tell you.
status: I have more thoughts in my head than in my docs
The Girl From the Dimension Next Door (#wip: dimension story)
about Aaron and Sarah, who live two universes apart and regularly bend and break through spacetime to share their childhoods and their troubles.
status: I started writing it as a tumblr serial
The Phantom Thieves (#wip: thief story)
about a group of thieves trying to steal a bridge. there are pocket portals and banter.
status: I started writing it as a tumblr serial
Glow (#w: sleepy stash)
a very short story about the love between mother and daughter (I wrote it for my mom).
status: finished/unfinished
Previous Lives and Premonitions (#wip: college story)
a short thing about what the title says. it doesn't really make any sense because the context isn't in the story.
status: unfinished/finished
Beasts of the Garden (#wip: castle story)
a (so far) only dialogue story about a rosebush thief who has to work in an enchanted haunted castle for three months and survive. part of a larger universe of fairytale retellings. this collective currently has no name.
status: spontaneously updating
The Emporium Chronicles (#wip: worker story)
retail! but make it fantasy.
status: technically this doesn't have content but I do intend to write it so it didn't really belong in the ideas category
Tumblr Shorts:
Hell in a Handbasket
The Chosen One
The Grave Diggers (from the future!)
A Universe of You
You Were a Windshield
Guilt and Guns (in Space!)
Heavy is the Head, or Something
Kismet
A Name for the Road
The Girl From the Dimension Next Door (flash fic version)
Category: Ideas without wips currently
A Soul in Parts - sci-fi story about near death experiences causing your consciousness to split. there is cloning. (I will never write this.)
Forged Fates - fairytale story about being named after whatever the stars or sages or something have declared your fate to be. the protagonist is Jack of All Trades and he's not having fun.
Making of a Miracle - Chaos and Inevitability are entities that are tired of the universe dying so fast when they go up against each other so they decide to create a creature who can balance them out. it's like two supervillains doing arts and crafts and the poor plucky creations having to deal with them.
Library of the Mind - psychological dark academia about exploring too deeply into mind magic. guarding yourself against being manipulated in good, but you can end up tearing yourself apart instead of building yourself up stronger.
The Recollection - a series of shorts about the Recollection, an archive for memories people don't want anymore. memory erasure angers the sage of memory, so instead of wiping the slate clean, unwanted memories are stored in a vault and taken care of by the archivists, childlike beings who encounter the best and worst of humanity while never remembering anything they archive past a day.
The Hat Trick Man - I will not elaborate, because I can't.
Death by Midnight - fairytale where the times of day have personifications and they're a bunch of siblings and midnight (for reasons) is killing the siblings - not permanently, but it does confuse humans when afternoon suddenly disappears from the day for a week - and the other times of day have to team up to stop midnight.
Killing Time - similarly, time's personification has been split into several pieces and the unlucky protagonists have to time loop travel to kill the fast times and hope they're never taking out the piece that holds their reality.
The War of the Words - about godling writers who control the fate of the world and they can't stop writing or the world dies, but also they can't agree on how the story goes, so it doesn't make sense
The Planet Farm Beyond Oblivion - prequel to Space Story about Oblivion, where planets are homegrown from fallen stars and shipped off to spots in the universe but disaster strikes in the form of one of the Growers planting seeds with toxic elements.
Only the Night Knows - fairytale about how only the Night remembers how to wake the sun, and the newest prince and his best friends travel through Night's tower to reach the end of night and the birth of a new day.
Uncommon Ailments - a shop that encounters every ailment from secondhand depression to displaced souls.
A Quiet Cold - a small town slowly freezes while people don't really notice until it's too late.
Blood of Gold, Blood of Silver, Blood of Bronze - blood types are categorized by the kind of magic one wields. it's a well-known fact that anyone can have strong and unique magic, and that the system for tracking it is highly biased and false, but most of the people with gold blood are rich, so society skews in their favor anyway. a new blood type comes on the scene, and others follow after that: iron, copper, steel, etc.. with every new set of powers, the hold the gold bloods have on society weakens. and then one blood type goes rogue, and the world might have to crumble before a new one can be built.
The Cure for Depression and Other Mythical Creatures - mini comics about mental health
August Blue - Conrad and Elsie in the summer by the lake, a place no one else knows or can find. Little does Conrad know that he drowned while looking for Elsie, but as he discovers it, there might be a way to come back. But can Elsie come back, too?
Unearthly Appetites - a guy gets cursed to become a demon and spends the rest of his humanity trying to appreciate it better while encounting strange beings
The Cure for Insomnia - a guy gets turned immortal (or does he) and gets depressed about not needing things like sleep and food as much and has to be rescued from depression by some found friends
The Pennyman - a boy tries to collect 1000 pennies in order for the pennyman to grant him a wish
Making a Difference - kids of an elementary school work at gathering the ingredients for a "difference" in order to put on a school play
Blood Orange - something about magical assassins in the summer trying to achieve the same goal and also kill each other a little bit
Twelve Shadows - a vague Peter Pan retelling where Peter is haunted by and is currently haunting his lost boys while unsure of how to get himself out of a sticky bargain he made without anyone dying, especially him
Category: lore OR plot but not both!
The Silence Machine - a deaf guy creates a machine to generate silence in order to undo the hypnosis placed on his town caused by constant music
The Decaying of Shelara Da'Esti - a summon story prequel about our favorite twice possessed skeleton
stuff about dryads - weird lore about dryads, originally for the Teen Wolf universe, now just chilling in my brain (lore)
romance story - a retelling/crossover of Les Mis and Sense and Sensibility (plot)
Snow Fangs and the Poisoned Cinderella - shapeshifters + curses, merging a few fairytales and also there's no romance (plot)
Moss-rose and the Sleeping Swan - retelling mashup of snow white and rose red and sleeping beauty (plot)
Marriage of convenience - Hadley Jamison is going to have to marry his childhood friend and nemesis, Amelia Kinsey. There's an inheritance, a dowry, a debt, and a lot of family history riding on it (plot)
Pirate Story - a young women gets lowkey adopted by some pirates and there's angst (lore)
Wuxia Story - a woman from a family of assassins marries a young lord who is trying to dismantle said family to prevent from from succeeding in killing the entire royal family. There are three sides at play and the newly married couple don't trust each other whatsoever (lore)
Category: Fanfic
here is a link to the existing masterpost about fanfics because I am not going to retype or migrate all of that, thank you.
I am so tired.

Chong-Qi wears the standard Royal Sword Academy student uniform consisting of a white and blue gold-lined button up top with the royal blue pants. Due to his bugfolk heritage, Chong-Qi is able to detect noises and vibrations, feel, and smell with his antennae and fly with his wings. However, his flight is very limited to a short distance, time, and weight.
Chong-Qi’s Unique Magic is called “Just For Luck”. His magic acts as a temporary buff. After signing his incantation, he rubs his forearms together, creating a reverberation. This sound enhances the physical and magical abilities of those within the vicinity.
Incantation: “Like a rock, you are hard. Like an oak, you stand firm. Like a cloud, you are soft. Like bamboo, you sway. Just For Luck.”

Chong-Qi’s name is actually taken from both my great-grandmother’s (Chang) and great-grandaunt’s (Chong-Kee) names.
--
He is twisted from Cri-Kee from Disney’s Mulan.

who are ur links??? names and games and gun facts maybe???
!!!
First, we got First, aka Link from the sksw manga. Sad pathetic wet cat. Wants to go back home to his husband, but is STUCK HERE. He's the tallest Link (by an inch)!
Then Feather (sksw)! His fun fact is that he has the full Triforce, but no one knows that for, uh, plot reasons ig. He also regularly practices the harp, because Fi taught him and well- she's not there anymore. My dearest friend here, Godslayer Fulltriforce, does not understand why the others think he's one of the strongest. Anyway, hey, look at this cool sword he uses! It's a double helix blade, isn't that neat?
Then we have my personal little combo Link- MC/FS/FSA. His fun fact is he never used the four sword to put the colors back together (permanently), and they're all just. Y'know. There. (and Shadow. Freeloader.) The FSA comes in with this cool and fun thing I call CONVENIENT TIME TRAVEL
Then oot, aka Mask, because I am incredibly attached to the name and also that's just how the Links named each other. First notable unique trait. His was the masks, which just chill on his belt and offer mostly unhelpful advice. AMAP (assigned male at princess). Physically the youngest, but oh boy. Who even fucking knows what his mental age is (it's why he doesn't talk).
Then we have TP, who, like most of them, still doesn't have a name. His fun fact is that he's trans, but only because I wanted to make a really bad joke. He's friends with Zelda, but only because he uses her magic fountain to talk to Midna, and after a while it got kinda awkward to just walk into her house without knowing her
Wind Waker, aka Patch! Yes, his name is that for exactly the reason you would expect (he doesn't need an eyepatch, he just has a conveniently placed scar)! He's one of the three Triforce Links (Triforce heroes, one could say-), with both Courage and Power. He doesn't know about Power, and could care less about Courage
Spirit Tracks! Idk. He may or may not be in, depends on if I can find a good playthrough to watch
alttp/oos/ooa/la Link, aka Apple! Hermit apple farmer guy after he (willingly) left Hyrule once and got his heart broken (thanks, Marin). He and his Zelda are good friends (or maybe more idk). Doesn't talk, just stares piercingly into your eyes until you start getting uncomfortable because he looks about one bad thing away from breaking down sobbing
albw/th, Paint- he's a little guy :) half of the storage in his house is Ravio's stuff, and the other half is his wardrobe from Hytopia. I also need to find a playthrough for him.
loz 1 & 2, Wanderer, named thus because he doesn't stay in one place, much to his Zeldas' annoyance! The oldest Link (thats a coincidence, I promise). Everyone is like, wow, [botw], your Hyrule is horrible and filled with monsters, meanwhile he's just fucking crying because it's so nice here, look, the water isn't poisonous and the grass isn't trying to kill us and I can see the sky
HW! My most specialest guy :) I gave him Issues. Your token pyromaniac Link, fell in love with Sheik a la OoT- now both he and Zelda have things they need to think about for a good long while!
Lastly, botw! Truly does not understand what a gender is, even among the many other "has lived in the forest half their lives" Links. Whether or not he's experienced totk depends on whether I like it lol. Takes the advice of his own personal peanut gallery (the Champions' spirits) seriously, even when it's just Revali telling him to do something really fucking stupid. Talks a whole lot, especially to the master sword (he heard about Fi and figured hey why not). His glorious purpose in life is to cook, and if he wasn't so distracted sauteing vegetables he'd be one of the most powerful

Tumblr media
Art by @/vivaresmala
Fun Facts: Yasa stands solely on the balls of her feet as the ancestors of her tribe always did. She had bones removed/moved for this to happen. Was her mother's decision.
🐇
She was confused why everyone in this land is so much shorter than her as she was used to sometimes being the short one back at home. Since then she has read about other species and their height ranges. Kinda finds short ones cute but unsure if as such then tall ones.
🐇
Yasa refuses to have her top area of body fully covered. She says it is to prevent disconnection with her home and the forest. Will wear sheer coverings if asked to cover up for an event and winter time. She even dances with no support so some get flustered because of that.
🐇
She's a self titled dancer and will show that she is very good at it. It keeps her spirits up and feels like home. Her magic is entwined with her dancing. Due to her feet she is always in a ballet type stance.
🐇
Kinda disliked dorm is runned by gods as her's failed her homeland but with Yisu's words of guidance she has shifted her thoughts mostly. She finally picked a side and is participating more.
🐇
She knows she is intimidating but she doesn't mean to be. Those who treat her kindly and look pass her unusualness she is grateful for. It is hard for her to make friends, etc but she does try.
Always is outdoors usually in a tall tree as she can climb them with ease. Often this lets her see others around the academy talking, hangout, and other stuff together. Makes her miss times when someone would join her in tree and listen to her play her flute or pursue her trying to flirt.

hi i know I could google it but you're passionate so I thoight it'd be fun to ask you, what's xenoblade chronicles? and what would u tell someone who knows nothing of that media to get them interested? ^_^
Xenoblade Chronicles is a series of jrpgs. there are currently 4 main games, but I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles X, so that one is a mystery to both of us and im going to pretend it doesnt exist. the games are known for their vast open worlds in unique settings, their unique gameplay (<- horribly complicated battle mechanics), and the fact that each game is separate from the other, making them playable in any order* (*terms and conditions apply. the ending of 2 spoils the ending of 1, and I'm currently unsure of how 3 fits in so all bets are off on it). all the games have themes of or relating to war is hell, building your own future, and friendship is magic.
Xenoblade 1 takes place here:
Tumblr media
on top the Bionis and the Mechonis, two colossal warriors who died fighting each other, locked eternally in combat. the inhabitants of the Bionis, scattered in colonies across it, are constantly under attack by the Mechon, a robotic species that kills them for unknown reasons.
the story follows Shulk, a 17 year old boy, as he seeks revenge on the mechon who attacked his colony, aided by his friends and by the strange visions that have begun to plague him ever since he took ownership of the Monado, a sword that responds only to him...
Xenoblade 2 takes place across a series of living beings called Titans. they make their home in the Cloud Sea, a giant body of water (and cloud) that covers the surface of the entire world. the titans are slowly dying off, causing war to break out as countries fight over the dwindling land. and there's also the world tree
Tumblr media
legend has it that god lives at the top of it in a beautiful paradise called Elysium ^
the story follows rex, a 15 year old salvager who dreams of climbing the world tree, proving Elysium is real, and saving everyone by having them live up there instead. after taking on a salvaging job too good to refuse, and getting stabbed in the back in a very literal way, rex becomes the Driver of a legendary Blade (a sort of living battle partner who gives their counterpart a cool weapon to beat people with and the rest would take to long to explain). the Blade, named Pyra, tells him she will give him half of her life if he will take her to her home, Elysium.
xenoblade 3 I know the least about, obviously, BUT.
it takes place on aionios, and the inhabitants are split into two factions: Keves and Agnus. each faction fights to maintain their Flame Clock, a gauge of their own life force, that dwindles with time and grows with the flames they steal from others. thus, a war that can never end. each person lives only 10 years¹, and has a mark on their body counting down until their death. they exist only to fight, and to fight well enough to live through their 10th term and recieve the most honorable death: a ceremony called Homecoming, where they die in front of their Queen.
the story follows 3 kevesi soldiers, and 3 agnian soldiers, who were sent to investigate an anomaly that [spoilers] and severs their connection to their flame clocks, ending the necessity for them to kill. as a result the 6 were labeled as deserters, and team up to travel to Swordmarch, a place they were told could stop them from dying when their 10 terms are up.
it's definitely not a series for everyone, and it's NOT without flaws (2 has a lot of weird bullshit fanservice and shit in it that i try to block out of my memory), but i like it a lot. if i was pitching it to someone it would probably depend on who i was pitching it TO, and what they like in a game. BUT i think if you like real-time strategy combat (is that the term im looking for?), and open worlds (cannot stress enough the open worldness of these games), and beautiful jawdropping landscapes, and fucking crazy plots, and characters that love each other so much they'll rewrite fate, and stories about finding or making a purpose in life... you might enjoy xenoblade :)
Tumblr media
this is reyn he's from xenoblade 1 he's a little bit stupid hes been protecting shulk (wet idiot nerd) since they were kids and we love him.

How... just how many cards are there in that game? But I guess I choose Alesha, who smiles at death because it sounds so poetic. Fey Steed has been a close second though. Seriously, I can't get over how many cards there are.
Hey Lanarion!
Not counting lands and unique prints, at the time of this answer, there are 23,156 Magic: The Gathering cards registered on Scryfall, with many more sets soon to come.
Anyway, let's start with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death. She's our canon trans woman and she chose her name after killing a dragon, naming herself after her grandmother. She also turned a transphobe into a staunch ally in the course of her story. We love to see a girlboss win, and I mean that unironically.
As a card, she is a 3 power, 2 toughness Red First Striker for 3 energy. Whenever she attacks, you can pay 2 White, 2 Black, or a mix of the two colors to return a weaker creature (power 2 or less) from the graveyard to the battlefield tapped and attacking. Her flavor text is a quote of hers, saying "Greet death with sword in hand."
So naturally, I would make her the focus of a spell to ease a trans woman's dysphoria. Since she's a Legendary Creature, I feel safe saying that one would call upon her (treating her as a spirit or archetype) for courage to exist as one's true self and protection from transphobes.
As we've established, I love me some good rocks, but let's play around with plants and other things for this. We really only need one Red energy (so the other two can be generic), so let's go for cactus spines for an offensive protection. For the other two, how about a candle in a gender-affirming color for the dysphoria relief and uhhhh does red pepper for courage make sense? I don't know, I don't use plants. Anyway, a triple-dose of Red energy would be more than enough to fuck up anyone that looks at a trans woman sideways.
Now, let's talk about Fey Steed. This was one of the Elks that made me almost make my Elk deck tri-color (RIP double-Oko, Thief of Crowns; you and your 3/3 Green Elk army will be missed). It's a 4 power, 4 toughness White creature for 4 energy (a double-White with 2 generic). When it attacks, another attacking creature you control becomes Indestructible until end of turn. When a creature or planeswalker you control becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, you have the option to draw a card.
Now, this is a tricky one, because I have trouble with White energy. I've always struggled with it. And I don't want to keep pumping out protection-based stuff, so let's give the Elk a gun.
So someone done fucked with you and your buddies. You may or may not want to harm them, but then you think it would be even funnier to bless everyone around them instead so they're left wondering why their own luck sucks in comparison. So get yourself some kind of deer/elk memorabilia (farm supply stores often have little animal statues, start there), some blessing plants (rosemary? rice? I don't know, I don't do plants, but those are both White-aligned), and you light them fuckers up and wave the animal statue in the smoke. Then you tell your little deer or elk (or delk, or perhaps eer) to go bless everyone around that person but not them, and you put that little toy somewhere safe so it can work in peace. Outside of your house? By a window? Who knows! I don't! I'm a wizard on the internet, I don't live in your house!
So now you've got this little magic animal that's hitting everyone except the jackass with Blessing Bullets. Fuck yeah, Elks.
...I may have gotten a little unhinged in that last section. Anyway have fun with your Elk Gun.
