NO THEY WERENT LYING. THAT SHIT GAY. and like its even WORSE in the sequel somehow. like holy SHIT how do you make the plot of them making a fucking build-a-girlfriend and its gayer than the original
herbert west is simultaneously the smartest guy and also a fucking idiot. he managed to create something that can restart your brain but decides its a good idea to 1. use it on the guy he just decapitated and who hates his guts 2. injects both the body and the head with reagent and proceeds to only focus on the head. dude repeatedly reanimates corpses that has been only violent and hostile towards him in particular and he is somehow surprised every time
and its even funnier cause like. hes alive in the sequel and its never explained how he got out of that shit alive. last we saw him he was getting choked to death by some guy's insides and then he's. just here. this is how its gonna be and we're just moving on. no time to waste on things like "plot holes" and "on screen character deaths being undone" we've got places to be! bodies to reanimate! women to be sexist to!

im just thinking what if mike schmidt is the son of the movie's equivalent of henry emily. i had this thought on the way home from the movie at like. 10 pm so at the time it was incoherrent, but im going to expand on it here.
point 1- garrett played a similar role to charlie emily, in that despite being watched over they were both killed by william afton.
p2- in the flashbacks, its very obvious that the entire family is in a place away from society. they're literally in a forest. it wouldn't make sense for william of all people to be there if he wasn't close to the family.
p3- the books and the game mirror eachother, so there is a chance that schmidt could be another fake name, one william recognized because, again, he was a family friend.
p4-what happens when your kid goes missing? idk probaly witness protection or an urge to seperate yourself from the incident, both reasons for the name change.
p5-(kinds joke reason) abby rhymes with charlie and looks similar to her (brown hair, brown eyes)
p6-i argue that abby also took on the role of the puppet/charlie at the end of the movie. she didn't necessarily give them life, not like what was done in the game, she shoeed them how they died. she reminded the children of the life they had before, and of who really took it. by doing that, in a way, she gave them that life back. she gave them their real personality back, one not influenced by william. she cut them from his influence, she gave them the gift (the picture) and it gave them life (their memories)
p7- in the movie, mike says his father 'couldnt deal with it' and left after his mother died. yk what that sounds similar to? book henry emily killing himself in despair. maybe mike's dad is alive maybe he's dead, we dont know. but it is similar enough, an act of completely removing himself from the equation.
p8-book henry has a sister named jen, yk what name that sounds like? jane. who was mike and abby's aunt, and we dont know which parent she was related to.
p9-'but wouldn't mike know about the pizzaria if william was a family friend?' honestly, probably. but theres also a high chance that he wouldnt. if the family lived in nebraska, (which im pretty sure they did) they wouldn't have a need to go to utah, not even for a friend's restaurant. sure, he might know that his dad's friend had a restaurant, but not that it had animatronics or anything. the family probaly moved to utah after garrett's disappearance and after freddy's closed down.
p10-'wouldn't mike know vanessa? theyre similar in age' if they didnt live in the same state, probaly not. william in the movie was a, suprise suprise, shitty father, even foregoing the stabbing of his kid. i doubt hed care enough to take her with him on like. a short out of state trip.
p11(edit)- in the books aunt jane was killed by evil charlie to get to charlie, yk what that sounds like? the animatronics killing aunt jen to get to charlie
p12(edit)-the words at the end of the movie say 'come find me' and the music playong at the end is the puppets song so i think garrett is the puppet which is. again. an emily thing

OOF OKAY buckle up this is gonna be a long one. i'll put everything under a read more because i really really didnt like the movie and also it's gonna be spoilery
but i will leave my one opinion that has no bearing on anything above which is THEY FUCKED THE TURKEY SCENE WHICH IS ONE OF MY FAV SCENES IN THE WHOLE BOOK. i wanted alex to say "puttheturkeysinmyroomputtheturkeysinmyroomputtheturkeysinmyroom" to the fucking president and then have a complete meltdown about the gobble and it DIDNT HAPPEN
also i should probably mention that ive read this book like 7 times and it's my comfort read so im v close to the source material
i really feel like they took out all of the heart in the story. i was reading that variety article that said they wanted to take out everything that wasnt focused just on the relationship or whatever but everything in their lives is what makes the relationship so GOOD and relatable. they took out all of the angst and pining and buildup and made the characters so flat and i didn't believe a single thing about their relationship.
the characters truly felt like different people. alex had none of the desperation that he does in the books. we dont see him teetering on the edge of everything and barely holding it together while pretending everything is completely fine. we don't see him working SO hard to ignore everything bad in his life while pretending he's just this golden boy who has his whole life figured out. we don't see him working so hard towards his almost unattainable political goals while simultaneously trying to prove himself. we don't see his meltdowns and panic attacks and insomnia. we don't see henry being the boy who just wants to be a writer but is forced into this role that he doesn't fit into. we don't see him spilling his guts in emails because he can finally talk about all of the things he's kept hidden and found someone he can finally be himself with who doesn't just see him as the perfect little princeling. we don't get to see his deep grief and depression or his anxiety about being out in public and always being on display or the constant battle he has about his duty to his country and just wanting to be himself. he kinda just turned into this broy prince dude who was kinda concerned about being gay and also being a prince but also sorta didnt really seem to care?
the fact that they made alex kinda know he was bi before the story started also completely changed his entire character. we don't get to see him figuring out parts of himself with henry, we don't get to struggle with trying to figure out what it means to be bi and also want the reddest parts of the US to relate to him. we don't even get the convo he has with nora about him being bi, it just got turned him whether or not he likes henry which felt way less impactful. also, keeping his parents together made parts of the story not even make sense. like why the fuck did they go to lake house to meet his dad if henry had already met him because his parents are still together?
the secondary characters were also SO FLAT and basically nonexistent. the fact that pez was called percy the entire time annoyed me. like i know that's his name but i feel like they toned down his character so much and part of that was never calling him pez. bea was basically nonexistent and was just like the sweet little sister (which, also, why the fuck did they change the birth order??). taking june out was a HUGE blow to alex's characterization and the storytelling as a whole and nora was so bland. she's one of my fav characters in the book because she's so fun and chaotic and movie nora was just like ,, idk cool and chill and was a total different character. also making henry's mom just be absent because she's travelling or whatever and then not be there when they're talking to the king was such a weird choice. also don't get me started on miguel, i can't believe took out raf just to put that jealous fucker in. aghhhh. also zahra was much less of a boss bitch than she was in the books. when she called shaan and was all snippy i was like ma'am you sound SILLY right now.
taking out all of the mental health rep also made me really sad. so much of the story was exploring grief and depression and anxiety and adhd and addiction and that just didn't exist at all. if they wanted to just make it a love story then that's fine, but you can't tell me that two guys in their situations would be neurotypical and not deal with any sort of grief at all.
and the EMAILS. my god, who was fucking in charge of that change because i seriously c a n n o t. where was the poetry and the angst and the historical references? why were they just like "hi im in texas, miss you" and "im reading this cool book, miss you too". so much of their relationship development happens in those emails and there's so many iconic lines and we got none of that. it also made it feel way less impactful when the emails got leaked. was there really so many scandalous things in those emails? between these flat ass characters? you can't convince me anyone actually cared about those. also the fact that miguel leaked them made NO sense. what did he have to gain? he was just mad that alex didnt wanna hook up with him again so he decided to be jealous and petty? i don't understand. also if they didn't fuck the emails they wouldn't have had to awkwardly shoehorn the "history huh" line into the museum scene. i half expected alex to turn to the camera and wink like he was in the office or some shit.
they also changed the timeline enough that everything felt so weirdly paced. they apparently aged them up, which i didnt even realize when i was watching the movie, so the love story would feel "believable" or some shit, but why can't 23 year olds be in love? why do they have to be older? also henry being like "i want to be make love tonight" EXCUSE ME SIR? in this hotel room? book henry would fucking NEVER.
my last gripe is alex's coming out speech. first, why did they have to change it? the speech in the book was SO good and impactful and the one in the movie was just ,, bland? where was "love is indomitable" and "he is my choice" and "im the first son son of the united states and i'm bisexual. history will remember us"? also why did he make the speech before even talking to henry? he essentially outted him to the entire fucking world without even having a little chat with him first which was truly fucked.
WAIT MY ACTUAL LAST THING was why did their outfits suck so much in the show. where was alex's bomber jacket during the reelection? he looked like an office bro and i was not into it.

What is so wrong with the Rise of Red?
mmmmmmmmm alot, its a clear cash grab, which hey its disney, it keep saying its a continuation from the main 3 movies yet its CLEARLY a soft reboot, it looks so cheap even though i know these fucks have some sort of budget to make it look good enough(the jewlrey, the designs in general, everthing looks plastic and fake unlike the main movies where the fakest thing was Ben's crown, i mean they made harry a REAL metal hook!!!! with little designs on it and everything!!), it just feels like it lacks the passion and effort the main 3 movie had, which even if d3 was a shit show-it FELT like lots of passion was put into it from all the actors and the set design and even just the little details of outfits and other stuff, rise of red jsut feels...cheap and theres some stuff that one of my actor friends(ifykyk) said about the casting stuff and other things that also soured the whole thing becuase they were awful and just-werent doing anything right.
it just feels like such an unessecary addition and i really wish they would just say ';'hey! this is a soft reboot!' and honestly THAT would make me complain less but they're trying to make it seem like its a direct continuation somehow even though Uma/china is the only returning cast and the plot feels lazy the costumes are lazy and the fact that they made it seem like dara renee was goign to be chloe at the annoucment thing last/two ish years ago and on the first insta post of it and then suddenly she wasnt chloe anymore and i feel like thats fucking weird as fuck becuase they instead casted a lighter skinned and skinner girl to play chloe and dara was recast/cast as Ursula's sister and im like....thats WEIRD
idk just from teh start d4 wasnt something the franchise needed, it ended with d3/the royal wedding, d3 was okay enough to be closure for the series and feels like an okay enough ending for the francise but they just keep milking it and milking it to the point where its just not fun anymore-rise of red doesnt look fun, we got no behind the scenes, not even from teh actors-unlike d3 where we got a WHOLE production for behind the scenes and just that alone makes me like d3 becuase it looked so fun to make! everyone had so much fun making it! and yet for rise of red-or pocketwatch as it was known-we didnt even know they finished/started filming until we got a random post saying it was a wrap??? like-no bts? no songs? no fun moments with the cast? no teasers?? nothing?????
idk i just-am not excited for this movie and i dont think im gonna watch it, maybe watch a few scenes on youtube and def listens to the songs and look at all the outfit designs, but im not interested in watching this shit show for...whenever it comes out, it just very much feels like not even the production was fun and if the production insnt fun, the movies not gonna be fun.

tinkerbell: unpopular opinion, but she's literally the most homophobic person in the entire fairy village. tink is the kinda person to out you on purpose to everyone you know, but she makes it seem like it was an "accident". this is literally the reason why zarina left y'all
zarina: she is sooo trans girl coded. everything with her and the dust in their little rule filled society is just so transgender. zarina is THE t4t trans girl in the fairy society, no one does it better than her. tinkerbell literally outed her to the whole place so thats why she ran away fr. unfortunately the pirates were much worse and she did have to go back. she's singlehandely making fairy society way less bigoted though.

hmmm my favorite movie rn is probably bones and all, even tho it changes depending on my mood
its a great love story that also made my heart drop and freeze. i cried sooo much the first time i watched it, the story is really interesting. i didnt read the review before i saw it so i was a bit shocked cjsjjd but i deffo recommend it for people who dont mind a bit of horror
and my comfort movies is probably 10 things i hate about you or cars !! i looove cars sm, its a movie i saw as a kid and it just makes me bubbly. i watched 10 things i hate about you two or three years ago and its just great :] the story is about a badass punk girl and (not so much) her pink girly sister. its just chill idk it makes me relax and happy to know that love is everywhere

Good morning (or afternoon), how are you?
Do you think killer dolls/puppets/mannequins/ventriloquist dummies are overrated, especially with Chucky?
(I personally don't like Chucky, I feel disgusted when I see him with a kid. And I don't even think he would bother to see and have a good relationship with Glenda and Glen, probably for the best. Even his relationship with Tiffany is abusive and toxic as Hell.)
I used to find dolls creepy but then my sister started collecting porcelian victorian children's dolls around the same time that I started animating and making armatures and puppets, so they really dont scare me much and I actually like some of them a lot :) I think they're scariest when they're a seemingly innanimate object that moves when both the characters and the audience arent looking.
I only saw the childs play movies properly (not counting the time i passed out watching 2 at a house party in 2016) earlier this year so i didnt have any nostaligia for them going in. They're campy fun despite the early series entries' identity crisis but imo outside the first couple of films Chucky never feels like a real threat. Sure, he kills people but hes also 2 feet tall and wears build-a-bear outfits. Charles Lee Ray is a disgusting serial killer but trapped in the body of baby's doll he never comes across as a legitimate threat outside of the first 2 films, probably because narrative perspective is a childs’s.
A problem that haunted doll movies have as a whole is that i cant take them seriously because the suburban mom will be like "emily my blondest daughter i found you a new toy at the haunted flee market, you're going to be loving it" and she hands her daughter this
and the daughter is like "omg mother, i love her for all she is worth, i must put her at the end of my bed and go to sleep next to it tonight, in fact, i must do this at once" and then everyone is suprised when she gets ghosts in her blood

What do you think of the upcoming Powerpuff Girls reboot? (The one that Craig McCracken is currently making, NOT the 2016 one)
Well there's not much to judge lol, it's still being developed. We don't even know at this point if we're talking about a new series or movie that will ultimately (hopefully) be made.
I can say though that I am super excited for whatever Craig comes up with though! Like things in particular that's been shared about the project that make me particularly hyped are:
1. It's going to be created by Craig McCracken. Reason enough.
2. Craig said big plans for Mojo! Omg YES. But also especially yes because the next point...
3. Craig expressed developing a larger story he wants to tell. Ohmyfreakinggosh YESSSS!! I absolutely adored Kid Cosmic and I feel like he's going to give the PpG a similar treatment and that's just like a dream come true for my little PpG-obssessed inner child. As a kid, when I watched the series, I just loved watching the details come together as the series played out. Learning that the 3 girls were sisters- WHAT didnt know that during What a Cartoon! Then learning they all had special powers- Bubbles speaks Spanish- wait now Squirrel?!- wait now like everything?!- what the heck about Buttercup's special power?!!! Then Ohmyfreakinggoshhhh WHAT MOJO CREATED THE PPG??! GAME CHANGER. Lol. So while the og series was episodic and there weren't technically overarching plots- the series to me stood apart because of these gradual reveals that happened throughout the course of the show. I looked forward to each week's new adventure but when the episode gave me new character reveals like those I listed- it made it all the more special to the fans like me who watched the show all the time. I always wished all that stuff would get revisited/ expanded upon...and now... ohmigosh... I am just sooooo excited about all the possibilities!!
I am scared about the fans reactions though lol. The Puffs are so nostalgic for so many- some fans I think project a lot onto the Puffs personalities that I don't think Craig quite vibes with... lol I dunno that for sure. But it's a feeling I have. But they're his babies so... I have faith he knows what to do with them better than anyone.

Is encanto really as good as everyone thinks?
-SPOILERS FOR ENCANTO AND UP-
i know it may seem like im a bit late to the party but the truth is when i saw encanto first getting popular it felt strange.
it felt like i watched a completely different movie ngl and i kept my mouth shut back then because i didnt wanna ruin the fun for everyone else lol
but tbh im pissed off at disney and i cant keep my mouth shut for any longer now.
let me just, get to the point-
Encanto is a terrible movie that fails at the fundamentals of story telling
you see, if u manage to see through the tears and actually pay attention to the plot of the film, it is so b a d
now i'll give them credit where credit is due, they had a really interesting concept and very good ideas
but they executed it so poorly its laughable.
you see, this film isnt a film
its a cash grab on the name of nostalgia and emotions
idk abt other peope but to me, encanto felt very empty. From the way i see it, disney just wanted to make the next frozen with touchy feely themes about family and love and healing and runions but it sort of failed.
the characters in encanto seem extremely shallow. the "development" they get (.i.e. isabella, luisa, abuela etc) dosn't really feel like true development. it seemed extremely artificial and almost felt like an act disney was putting on to fool everyone else into thinking that they're actually good in writing characters. i mean sure, they have distinct personality traits, trauma, backstories and everything a character needs to have depth but what undermines this imo is the plot.
now idk if i just have a taste for suspenseful thriller movies or something but i enjoy a nice touchy feely movie alright (for instance Up) but encanto really lacked the substance it needed for it to truely shine.
Im gonna use Up as an example to explain what i mean
in the beginning of up, in the very first few minutes carl and ellie's characters have light years more personality then mirabel or luisa for example. The plot itself enhances it.
In the beginning of up, its very clear that carl is intorverted and uncertain, he wants more from life. he wants to go on adventures but he needs someone to be there for him. he needs someone to provide certainty and comfort even in chaos.
and ellie does exactly that. Her very first impression on carl and the audience makes it clear that she's very much into adventure and is the sun to carl's moon.
now what about isabella and mirabel?
they uh
have sister....problems...
and...
......
isabellla is a people pleaser i guess?
and what does the plot do to enchance this?
they make the dinner go wrong becuase of bruno's rats and mirabel gets blamed for it so isabella doubles down on her inner flaws???
like i get what they were trying to do with mira and isa's characters and what theme they were going for but it just fell really flat. the writing really failed in making me care about them or their issues. they seem like caricatures of real people who probably exist but they seem very one dimensional and flat.
honestly i think encanto would've been a lot better if it was a show as that would give the writers more time to flesh out these characters and make them loveable.
And this brings me to the most saddening part of this whole thing....
Disney dosn't care
they dont care that their ip would've benefited from being a show instead of a film, or that the final product is trash. All the care about is make touchy feely movies with the same theme and the same messed up message about love and boundaries over and over again with the same highly merchandisable characters that'll have the dolls and dresses flying off of the shelves because that's what it ultimately comes down to.
They don't care because they don't have to
Its simple really. they dont care because they're so absurdly big that it dosnt matter if they keep making terrible movie after terrible movie, uninspired sequel after uninspired sequel (lookin at u, frozen 2) because so many people are attached to the walt disney brand that they'll watch it regardless and buy the terrible quality merch without a second thought for their kids to play with so they can grow up and do the same thing to their kids.
Its tragic that this is what the beautiful medium of animation and film has come down to.

first of all: thank you so much! don't get lost in it now! and secondly: i have put off answering this ask for so long bc i find that question pretty difficult to answer. i love way, way too much art. but still it's an opportunity to showcase some that i love. under the cut :) im sorry if this off from what you're expecting (crying emoji)
these are a small fraction of art that tickle my brain, only visual, sometimes inspiration just springs from a non-fiction like an essay, or in the repetition of furniture music, a strange movie with a story but with no discernible plot (the best kind of movie), when you cook a meal etc etc ....they exist where you least expect it........
i mainly do two art styles that, despite me whining abt inconsistency, are deliberate bc they give different moods, and i dont really care if my art doesnt look the same, esp since im not really interested in the industry where style consistency is part of branding yada yada. it’s more fun this way. i'll start with the inks.
one of my favourite mangaka ever is nishioka kyoudai. they're a brother-sister duo that writes these surreal poem-like stories without a plot. once you see it, it's a Very obvious inspiration. when i first got into hypmic, one of the comments i even made then was gentaro feels like a character from their work which lead to no longer human comic later for inktober www thats why i draw him a lot in the style inspired from their art...
below is the front and back cover of their most popular manga: kami no kodomo (just a warning if anyone checks this out: it's violent and disgusting. dont be like me who read them @ age 12, i was an edgy problem child)
another one of my favourites is taiyo matsumoto. art below is from their manga titled tekkon kinkreet, which has a movie ! and one of their manga got an anime adaptation as well....please watch ping pong the animation it's really good (shameless promo)
theres more, but these two mangaka really got me loving inks and not caring abt my art looking all social media pretty. weird is great!!! i embrace manga that looks unconventional
now for paintings, it's a different world ww most of them are contemporary. i like paintings that depict smth mundane or private. i love tenderness.......i like it when bodies feel like they merge into one, and where the figures' edges become imperceptible unless you look closely. intimism is where it’s at babey!!

oh man i didnt even post my fnaf movie thoughts yet oops.
so as someone that used to be like. a Mega FNAF fan in middle school (thats when the original quadrilogy was coming out during) and a casual fnaf fan in high school after the original series finished with pizzeria simulator (last game i was there for truly was sister location but i was around for pizzeria simulator & the vr one), i remembered following this movies production since like. 2015. i was very excited to hear that the jim henson creature shop were gonna work on the animatronics, and i just couldnt wait for this film, now that its out, what do i think of it???
disclosure: yeah it was also released on streaming so thats how i was able to watch it
but yeah. idk, i thought this film was Fine. from a casual outsider point of view. i must give my praises to the jim henson creature shop for the animatronics, they were adapted beautifully to live action and they felt like real robots in a chuck e cheese's that could walk around at night (because they're haunted). so they got the animatronics right, if you were worried if they couldnt depict freddy & gang right
but besides that, eh??? i think scott cawthon is not a good writer (dont get me started on the william afton gasses children with nightmare gas lore. you dont wanna hear my thoughts on that). they made mike, from the first game, kindof an unlikeable, white bread charisma vacuum. i did not care for him or his family drama, i like. understand why it was important at the center of the film. (just like mike stoklasa redlettermedia will say in his eventual review for this film, "this film was about family") i just did not care for him or anything surrounding him
im glad they didnt make purple guy british in the film. the youtuber cameo scared me more than the animatronics did, this film has a massive tonal problem that. i think wouldve been solved if they leaned in on how humourous the situation is, because you get some occasional splashes of how funny scary this is (the cupcake eating someone alive, the balloon boy jumpscares). but it's really more melodramatic or somber than it needed to be. and like. you could have Some Serious or Quiet moments, those are fine, but there isnt as much fun in here as there should be. there isnt really a balance, this is kindof a film more for the older fans
with that said, the fans of the older games LOVED this film, so this might just be an unpopular opinion that i share with a few others. so yeah, if you like the older fnaf games and wanted to see it in a film, this is the film for you. if you wanted a fun animatronic horror film, then look else where (theres that one nicholas cage fnaf film, and the banana splits film as well), because this is just another by the books horror film if ur looking from the outside

hihi its flowers with a life update 👋
me & my boyf had our first anniversary last week! we didnt get to do much because i started a new job that evening, but i made a cheesecake & by some miracle it turned out ok in spite of me dumping boiling water in it by accident 😅
I've picked up a few new plants (some re-buys for ones lost in the past) and theyre all doing so well （˶′◡‵˶）
as for my survivors, both my first orchid & african violet are putting out flowers! my orchid's spike is still growing so it hasnt got any blooms yet but im so excited to see her flowers again, theyre such a pretty shade of purple. my violet's blooming like her life depends on it, theres at least 4 stems with flower bunches on them popping up! id love to get more violets but i swear she kills them somehow because they always get sick & die within months 💀 the only one thats survived, i propogated from her lol
as it's growing season, most of my plants have new growth. ive been thinking about getting a dedicated shelf for them so i can set up my grow lights again, but i havent decided on a location for it yet.
cats are doing well! im learning crochet & im 100% going to make my bf's cat sweaters since he loves clothes. i bought a tower for mine but neither of them use it 😮💨
uhhm nothing else new that i can think of. havent seen barbie yet, ive heard great things though. might take one of my sisters next weekend if she's not broke 😅

Or when Mother Miranda had you change into Eva's clothes, put you in Eva's room, tucked you on Eva's bed, made you call her "mama" and then reinforced it that neither Alcina nor Mia are your mamas. Only her.
Or when Chris was saving you and decided not to shoot Handsome because you cried that he was your best friend in the whole wide world. So now Chris has two babies, one if them is a monster with a drill for an arm.
Or when you stole "Hamburger's" glasses and ran away from him on Handsome's shoulders while Heisenberg called you "Brats! Come back! Give me my shades back!" Followed by baby Y/n's mischievous giggles.
Or when Leon had to chase you down after you sneaked out his knife. He had to bribe you with candies to make you drop the knife.
Or when Ethan just started crying after you ran away from him for the 7th time because you saw your pet lycan "Potato". The lycan damn near mauled Ethan when he picked you up, only for you to call him "Potato! Down! Bad doggie! No more belly rubs if you eat Dada!" And the lycan's ears just flop down and he whines at your threat.

"sorry, dally's in tha' cooler again.." or
"darrys working extra, maybe nex' time"
this time, ponyboys put extra effort in to making sure everyone's there. it has to be PERFECT. hell, he'd probably drive himself mad getting all these plans done. but pony's got a way, he made it happen, now your walking down with pony away from the drive in, sipping some pepsi-cola. he's flipping a coin back between his pointer and middle finger. when you both reach the door you toss the bottle into the trash and pony opens the screen door.
"darry! i've got someone i'd like you to meet!" darry's head pokes out from the kitchen doorway. he side steps to get a good look at you.
"who's this ponyboy?" you smiles at him and stick out your hand.
"y/n, great to meet you!" he shakes your hand, it's still wet from washing dishes. sodapop steps into the room with steve holding a beer can swaggering behind him. they're cracking jokes until they see you politely standing in the middle of the room introducing yourself to darry.
"who's the small kid superman?" steve asks taking a sip of his beer. darry rolls his eyes at steve.
"pony's friend, real sweet kid too. be nice and introduce yourselves wont 'ya?" darry beckons the two boys over to you.
"what's your name kid?" soda asks.
"dont call them kid, they look older than you, babyface" steve jokes and nudges soda in the side. you grin slightly.
"y/n, and you?" you ask.
"sodapop" soda mocks a bow, steve tussles soda's greased hair.
"i'm steve randall, probably heard o' me before, popular I guess you could say," steve pretends to be real slick.
"what's all the commotion?" johnny and dally walk in. dally's wearing a smug expression on his face and his hand is covering his side. it looks like it's bleeding. he's leaning on johnny whos got a nervous shiver to him, he looks nice though.
"got into another fight dally?" darry asks hands on his hips.
"you know it superman" dally settles down on the part of the couch that doesnt have books scattered across it.
"who's the chick" dally asks, no real expression on his face.
"watch yo' mouth dally" ponyboy answers, "it's my friend from school."
"yeah and they' real sweet too," steve puts a hand on your head. everyone is crowded in on you asking you questions, you can't say you aren't enjoying it. they really seemed genuinly intrested, except dally who asked if you knew any cute girls. what do you expect, he's only seventeen and he's been in and out the cooler more times than you have hairs on your head.
"heey! why didnt anyone invite me to y'all's party!" two-bit hopped through the door.
"this is y/n! they're nice!"
"and smart!"
"they have cool style!"
everyone chimed in and excitedly proclaimed something intresting about you, even dally.
"nice to meet 'ya y/n!" two-bit pretended to tip his hat, "now, who wants to watch movies!"

Does anyone think about what Abuela Alma went through in the years Bruno was gone? She asked him for a vision about the magic that hadnt given Mirabel a gift, and... Thats the last she saw him. She had no idea if he was alive or what. And from how Julieta worded 'he lost his way in the family' made me think... What if, on top of the bad reputation Bruno unintentionally achieved, the fact that he 'left' the family was the main source of bitterness Alma had?
Because he said he didnt care about this family. Not knowing that he was living in the walls. Because she thought she lost him. And she still thought she had to keep face and hold the perfect family for the village. So she let her more bitter self grow over the fear any loving mother would have when their baby is missing for so long. Even if they are 50 years old, they are still her children.
And its not until he rides in after she and Mirabel hugged that she sees him, alive. And learns that he never left. I dont know when was the last time she called him "Brunito", but that atmosphere tells me it wasnt since he was a child. She is welcoming him with open arms before he could finish the speech be thought he had to brave through to talk to her. (Maybe a speech he had been saving up iver the 10 years he put himself in isolation) but he was NOT expecting to hug him. And to treat him like family. But you can tell he feels unbalanced when she no longer has a strict tone and instead treats him like all mothers do their kids. (No i am not over her kissing his cheek like he was a child taking his hand and guiding him towards the horse and later the family.)
But this is just my thoughts after watching the Encanto movie a second time... Im not sure. Just thinking about it.
Even in my first view of the movie I knew they had a lot of things to work ober than we didnt see, but I sae it as them gradually recovering from everything off screen. That Alma would sit her children and grandchildren down and talk. Mend the trauma that was built up over so many years. For everyone to give Bruno some sort of apology. Even though, again, i think they too thought his dissapearance was him abandoning the family. And just seeing his sisters rush forward when seeing him and engulfing him in a hug surprised him. I have to admit, I was equally surprised and happy as Bruno was about him getting the hugs he got towards the end there :u;
I just get happy when families welcome their loved onces back with open arms okay? Yeah they have a long journey of recovery ahead of them, but they're going to do it together.
