You can ignore this im just rambling about how cool this show is… if you’re anti Tommy just scroll
Tommy’s character arc on this show has become so meaningful and im pretty amazed and how they were able to turn bits and pieces of dialogue and action throughout his time on the show into something so complex and powerful. This person who was in survival mode in a line of work that can be so isolating. Someone who did everything to fit in, maybe hurting others in the process. Then we see that barrier slowly but surely come down until he’s there for his team, his friends and eventually himself. Someone so internally and externally isolated turned to someone so confident and sure of who he is. This person who can open his arms with empathy and care and kindness to someone else who just crawled out of an ever-present fog and is finally breathing fresh air. Tommy represents the hope of loving loud-loving yourself, those around you, the things you do and the difference that makes. I can confidently say there are a couple of obliviots who need that window of hope. Yes the Buckley-Diaz family will always be my endgame but right now Tommy is unbelievably important to their story, and no not just for Buck. He’s Eddie’s reflection. I do not want canon Buddie to be rushed. It becomes a cop out, and erases 5 years of such incredible development. Let them unravel a bit first. No cheating istfg. Appreciate the “oh” moments, and the obliviot moments, and let Buck have Tommy for now. Its sweet. It is going to make it so worth the wait. When Buck is happy for once and realizes he’s actually happiest with someone else who may or may not have been in front of his face for several years. SLOWBURNS ARE ELITE OKAY? I am going to enjoy the buddie angst and Tommy’s flirty bullying. Also… representation matters,, not just to us but maybe to a certain gay firefighter who is about to watch his best friend be happy with another man. That thats a possibility, and its okay.
Buck, my sweet summer child, you still were constantly trying to get Eddie’s attention when Tommy wasn’t there. You are so close baby girl, but you take your time with Tommy, that’s okay.
evan buckley is gonna love making bisexual jokes, he's gonna love calling himself queer and gay and bi and making jokes about coming out of the closet and swinging both ways and how he doesn't discriminate, he's gonna love discovering songs that are bisexual anthems like make me feel by janelle monáe, he's gonna love watching queer movies and crying a little at coming out scenes that remind him of him, and he's gonna love watching any movie and arguing the main character is bisexual, he's gonna love talking about boys with maddie, he's gonna love being loud about his bisexuality, he's gonna love telling people has a boyfriend and flirting with men and kissing them and having gay sex and going to gay clubs because he belongs there and knows that now, he's gonna love making up for lost time
Seeing comments on Facebook like “Buck was always a ladies man” or “he’s never shown any interest in guys before” is why this story arc is so important.
Bisexual people exist and so often get dismissed or told to pick a side or that they just can’t commit to being gay or some other shit.
Just because you show a preference to one gender doesn’t mean you can’t be attracted to another.
And you don’t have to have your sexuality figured out at a certain age! It’s fluid! It changes! You could not discover something about yourself until you are away from toxic noise and finally are in a place where you feel safe.
I’m just .. I’m so thankful for Oliver and Tim and how they’re wanting to tell this story.
Especially Oliver.
He loves Buck so much and he sees the bi community and he wants to give them the best representation he can.
*sighs*
just yeah .. this story arc is important and Oliver is cradling it so gently in his hands because he knows how precious it is
It’s also the tenderness of the kiss. The way he softly but intently cuts him short. Puts his finger under his chin and guides his head to him. The way Buck’s hand goes up in a fist, because he wants, but he doesn’t know how yet. It’s the way he kisses back. It’s in the way when he pulls away and his lip quivers, and for a second he chases his lips, for a split of a second he can’t open his eyes, but then he does. Because it’s okay, because he’s free. And he’s starstruck, but his heart is in the right place.
