santa baby - e.b **
Tumblr media
summary: christmas eve shenanigans by the tree
evan buckley x reader
smut!!
things sped up very quickly after athena’s christmas eve party. eventually, the candles burnt out and denny, along with other children, had to be tucked into bed before santa came tumbling on their roofs.
the innocence of the night was wearing off as buck stared at y/n in her tight red dress with the straight neckline. her arms were perfectly strung by her sides with the champagne glass in her hand. her rounded breasts were contoured by the golden lighting in athena’s room, and buck wanted to slap himself.
he hated feeling so turned on in the middle of a celebration for the holidays, but he couldn’t help but feel himself pushing against the fabric of his pants. the tingling sense in his stomach only grew when he saw y/n push her hair behind her shoulder, showing her sexy collarbones on which her long, gold necklace dangled over.
eddie’s sly comments were just faint sounds in bucks ear, teasing him for practically eye-fucking his girl from across the room. so, they were the next to leave.
buck had to stop himself from dragging her over the gearshift of his jeep and pulling her onto his lap. he wanted to feel the way her dress bunched up on her waist and then slowly peel it off her body as she begging for more.
“buck, slow down,” y/n asked, a slight chuckle in her voice looking at bucks white knuckles on the wheel. “it’s all fun and games until you get a ticket.”
“just wait til you see what im gonna do to you when we’re home. you’re gonna want me going faster.”
“oh.” y/n mumbled, shuffling in her seat, feeling the warmth in her lower stomach grow. she honestly thought buck was having a normal night, but she also knew what she was doing when she pulled that dress out of her closet. she slid her control center up on her phone, quickly turning on do not disturb for the night ahead of her.
he pulled frantically into the parking garage, running to her side of the door and grabbing her hand to pull her in.
“jesus, buck slow down!” she laughed. “you’re gonna rip my arm out of the socket.” she shut the door behind her quietly, noticing how late it was and not wanting to disturb anyone.
the moment she spun around, his hands were back on her sides, floating down her back and pushing his fingers into her ass. his lips were onto hers like a magnet, his soft kiss leaving stars in her mind. she could only faintly smell the whiskey on his lips, the one he sipped at while his dick was begging to be touched by her. he allowed her to fall into him, her hands touching the sides of his face and the back of his neck. he moved his legs quickly, pulling them into the living room. he sat her on the couch before sneakily scurrying away.
“what-“ she didn’t even have time to ask before he came back downstairs, his arms flooding with every pillow in the house. he slammed them onto the floor, right in front of the tree. “you do know we have a couch, right?”
“what’s the fun in that? c’mon,” he leans into her ear, his arms wrapping around her hips. “don’t lie and say you’ve never wanted me to fuck you under this tree?”
her mouth went slightly agape, shocked at his eagerness to please and the fantasies speeding through his head. “show me you’re not all talk then.”
he scooped her up, bending his knees to the ground and laying her on the pillows. he unstrapped her heels, throwing them across the room as she lay back against the cool, silky pillows. one of the straps of her dress was already sinking down her shoulder, practically begging buck to kiss all over her already. y/n propped herself up on her elbows, tugging at his shirt as he kissed her aggressively.
she felt his thick arms under the shirt, getting wetter just thinking about his muscles on top of her. buck placed his hands over y/n’s, leading them to the bottom of his shirt where she pulled it up, revealing his sexy figure and where his confidence rose. she just undid a few of the buttons on his pants before he couldn’t handle the wait. he stripped down completely, leaving his naked body to her view only.
it felt unfair for just him to be completely on display, and he only wanted to see her beautiful body in front of him. he started inching the dress up, leaning his body down to her thighs. he planted sweet kisses on her inner thighs, sucking and nipping at the skin. he eventually got to the point where the dress was on the floor, discarded somewhere with their other garments.
his large hands ran over her body, cupping her boobs and squeezing them lightly, in the most teasing way. he always knew how to get her where he wanted her, and he knew she was ready for him now. “shit.”
he placed a hand on her lower back, leaning her up to unhook her bra with one hand. he tossed it behind his head, earning a gentle giggle from y/n. he looked back rapidly, staring at her hardened nipples and bending down to connect his mouth.
his fingers were pinching and circling her left while his tongue worked on the right, getting the perfect amount of stimulation to get y/n all worked up. he loved to see the blush on her face, seeing her get all flustered and horny from his kisses. he sucked all around the skin on her tits, leaving small marks over her.
once he saw that she was fully content, he pecked a bit on her stomach, moving back to her inner thighs, just getting closer to her center. his fingers wrapped around the edge of her thong, pulling it down to fully reveal her wet pussy, the one that belonged to him.
“you’re actually the hottest person i’ve ever seen,” he said, connecting his eyes with her own as she smiled down at him. “just wanna taste you.”
his hands were placed on her knees, spreading her legs as far as they would go and settling himself in between. his fingers ran up her smoothly, the way they always do but make her feel ecstatic. he got his first moan as he circled his wet fingers around her clit, letting his fingers warm her up before his mouth was on her.
he licked and kissed at her lips as if they were just like her face, guiding the almost whimsical noises to leave her mouth. his arm was hooked under her thigh, his hand just by the top of her pubic bone. he lifted her up slightly to connect his lips to her clit, starting to suck again.
y/n’s hands reached down, lightly tugging at bucks growing hair in between her legs. she adored the way his hands were resting on her body as he ate her out and how lovingly he did it. he hit every spot that she needed to get off as she grinded on his tongue as it circled around her pussy.
as he kept licking at her favorite places, she came with a firework that left stars in her eyes and her chest heavy. her lungs filled with air, trying to catch up to the pleasurable feeling in her groin.
“buck!” y/n moans out. “god, buck i’m gonna cum.”
“cum for me, baby.” his deep voice vibrates against her cunt, instantly sparking up her entire body and leaving shocks throughout it. she clenched around nothing but the feeling of bucks mouth working her through her orgasm, her wetness being already around by his tongue.
when he finally released his hold on her legs and removed his mouth from her sensitive clit, buck pushed himself up onto his knees.
he connected his lips with hers once again, y/n now able to taste her sweet pussy on his lips. the way he treated her taste like an expensive wine just made it even better as he pushed his lips harder against hers. his tongue forced itself into her mouth, rocking against her own in a perfect rhythm. he used her mouth like he was starving, and he couldn’t help himself. the mix of her juices and her chapstick was the ultimate turn on, just making his dick grow harder.
“god, i wanna fuck you so bad.” buck groans, dragging his lips down her neck and sucking harshly on the skin.
“please fuck me already. i wanna feel you inside of me.” y/n begged, and buck could hear it in her voice how badly she wanted him.
y/n reached down, stroking bucks dick and pumping it a few times before leading it down to her pussy.
he ran his dick through her folds, collecting the mix of juices from her pussy and his own spit. the noises that she made as he grinded himself against here were heavenly, sounds that could turn him on faster than anything. the feeling of bucks body on top of her was unreal, almost like a dream. she reached up to grip his muscles as his hands moves down her waist.
he finally slid himself into her vagina, allowing himself to feel her tightness around his dick. he moaned out loudly, as if it were the first time he was ever in her. “holy shit, baby.” buck reached up through the pillows, taking y/n’s hands off her face. “don’t cover that pretty face.”
“you feel so fucking good.”
buck intwined his fingers with hers, bending her arms and pulling her hands up to the side of her head. he, in the most romantic way possible, rubbed her hands with his thumbs as he fucked her at the perfect place, hitting the amazing spots in her to make her moan out in pleasure.
he thrusted in her so hard, making her back arch off the pillows and making it difficult for her lungs to fill with air. the familiar sense started to creep up on her again, the bubble inside her threatening to burst.
“im so close, y/n, god,” buck groans out, not breaking the speed or rhythm of his thrusts. the only noises in the room were the wet sound of buck inside her and their practically synchronized moans of pleasure.
“you’re gonna make me cum, buck.”
“cum with me, baby, i got you.” buck continued to force himself into her, just the way she loves. he saw the way her face scrunched up and how her mouth dropped open with her blushed cheeks. the look in her eyes signaled how close she was, knowing they’d come together soon.
both of their legs shook as he came inside of her, spilling into her tight pussy. his thrusts slowed down, seeing his cum cover his dick and make a mess of her cunt. he leaned forward, shamelessly moaning into y/n’s ear as they both rode out their orgasms, using the other to their advantage.
“you’re so beautiful.” buck looks to the side, his nose lightly touching the side of y/n’s face before she tilts it.
“says you,” y/n winks, moaning again as buck pushes his fingers inside of her, attempting to clean the mess of juices and cum that they left. he pulls his hand up, letting y/n suck them and taste themselves mixed together.
buck rolls fully on his back, dragging y/n on top of him as she straddles him. “i love you so much.”
“i love you too, honey,” buck replies, kissing her lips again. “merry christmas, sexy.”
y/n laughs, gazing down at him and his goofy grin. “merry christmas, buck.”
“wait til you see what i got us for christmas.”

— stubbornness.
Tumblr media
summary: You just got home from the hospital, and are still learning how to walk properly again. You knew at the moment that you woke up from the surgery that Buck wouldn’t leave you alone. And you were right. He only went back to work when he couldn’t take any more days off, even though you insisted that he shouldn’t worry about you. The thing is, you are very stubborn, and it became even more obvious when you couldn’t do things on your own, but still wanted to.
keywords: fluff, recovery, stubbornness, worried Evan Buckley, f!reader.
characters: Evan Buckley, Maddie Buckley.
warnings: allergic reaction, swearing, author’s medical knowledge is very very bad.
a/n: I got this idea after watching an episode of 911: Lone Star (no spoilers here, though), also searching epi-pen and paramedics aesthetic wasn't on my bingo card this year lol.

Once more, you opened your eyes and felt a sharp pain when trying to move. You always forgot about your legs.
“Oh, fuck.” You murmured, trying to be as quiet as possible. You didn’t want to alarm Buck even more on his first day back to work. “Buck?” You called, hearing noises of things being stumbled on and quick steps on the stairs soon after.
“Honey, hi!” He said, almost falling on the ground when rushing to the bedroom. “Here, let me help you.” Buck grabbed your waist and carefully got you out of bed. “Are you sure that’s ok for me to go back to work?”
“I promise, babe, it’s fine. I can take care of myself while you work.” You said, caressing his hair and cupping his face with your free hand. His blue eyes finding yours. You could tell that he was worried, but you knew how much he wanted to go back to work.
“You can call me anytime, ok? If I don’t pick up, someone will.” He hugged you and kissed your cheek, making you laugh.
“You’re going to be late, Buck.” You said as he trailed kisses down your neck.
“I love you, ok? See you tomorrow.” He said, kissing your lips and leaving the bedroom.
“Love you too!” You said, catching a glimpse of his smile as he went down the stairs. You waited until you heard the front door closing to start getting ready.
People always talked about how Buck was a workaholic, but they didn’t notice how you were just as bad as him. In the last weeks, you didn’t have the chance to leave the house and go to work, since Buck wouldn’t leave your side. But now, with your boyfriend going on a 24 hour shift, you had plenty of time.
You got ready as fast as you could and left the house, driving to the Los Angeles Service Center.
As soon as you arrived, you received a message from Buck asking if everything was ok. You smiled at your phone and answered, saying that there’s no need to worry.
You got to your floor, using a walking stick to get to your desk, which was right beside Maddie’s, so you knew she would see you there soon. But you were prepared to argue why she shouldn’t tell Buck you were there.
As soon as you sat down, you heard a familiar voice calling you by your full name, which would have startled you if you weren’t expecting it
“Maddie! You look so pretty today, you know that?” You said, smiling at her.
“You are unbelievable. Does Buck know you’re here?” She asked, crossing her arms.
“... No, and you’re not going to tell him.” Maddie opened her mouth to answer, but you were faster. “And you own me one, remember? I didn’t tell Chimney that you came in sick when he had specifically told you not to.”
“Well, it’s different. You are recovering from a surgery, when I was just a little constipated.” She said, putting her hands on her hips.
“You still said that you owned me one, so I’m claiming that favor now.”
Maddie looked at you up and down, trying to decide if you were being serious or not. Usually, you would hold onto a favor for dear life until you wanted something nearly impossible. Getting back to work was something that would happen eventually, so all you had to do was wait.
But you couldn’t wait anymore. At home, everytime you heard your phone ringing you got excited because it reminded you of work. It was pathetic. Before becoming a dispatcher, you always judged Buck for being so obsessed with being a firefighter. Being a nurse was good, and you loved helping people, but you got too overwhelmed at the end of the shifts with all those people around you.
“Look, I will be careful. It’s not like I will be moving much, right?” You could see Maddie holding her laugh.
“You do have a point.” She said as she sat right beside you, preparing for the first call of the shift.
Time passed, and you tried very hard to not talk on the radio when the 118 was attending the calls. Sometimes you heard Buck speaking and smiled, trying not to talk to him as you always did. You got used to having conversations while he did things that didn’t really require his full attention, and he loved doing that too. It was something that helped him a lot when he needed to relax.
As the day went by, you got more relaxed. You and Maddie shared lunch, and she helped you change your bandages.
“Everything looks great, honey.” She said as she finished, making sure that the medical tape was well put on your back. “Buck is doing a great job taking care of you.” You smiled at the comment.
“You know, the moment I woke up from the surgery, I knew that he wouldn’t leave me alone.”
“He was so scared, honey. He wouldn’t leave your side.” She said as she started to walk back to her desk with you.
“He is a sweetheart, Maddie.” You said, sitting on your chair. “Even though I missed working, he made sure to make those weeks enjoyab-” Before you could finish your sentence, you heard a loud bang, followed by screams. You looked around and found one of the new dispatchers unconscious on the floor.
You and Maddie went as quick as possible — considering you were using a walking stick — to the girl, who looked like was having an allergic reaction. You asked someone to bring the medical kit, hoping to find an epi-pen.
“Nothing here.” Maddie said, looking at you, worried.
“Look at her bag! She might have brought it with her.”
You soon started to hear sirens, but you didn't think anything about it. Your focus was on the girl.
“She's here!” You heard Sue say, hearing footsteps coming in your direction.
“We think it's an allergic reaction, but we don't have any epi-pen.” Maddie said, making space for the paramedics.
“You are right. Chimney, give her some epi.” Hen said, measuring her heart rate.
You got up, standing right beside Maddie and putting your hand on her shoulder for support. You both were worried about the girl. It took you a minute until you realized that Buck was in the same room as you.
You waited until the girl woke up, which didn't take long. Hen and Chimney explained to her what happened, and she agreed to go to the hospital to get checked. This was the perfect moment to try to hide from your boyfriend, but you weren't fast enough.
“Y/N?!” You heard your boyfriend say, just as you were trying to get away.
“Hi, Buck.” You said, turning to his direction. “How's your day going?”
“What the hell are you doing here? You should be at home!” He said, looking worriedly at you, holding your hands.
“I was just getting some things with Maddie!” You lied, looking at your friend, who agreed with her head.
“Why are you in uniform, then?” He asked, crossing his arms, staring at you. You could see Chimney and Eddie looking at Hen, who had a smug smile on her face.
“Pay up.” She said, looking as both of the firefighters picked up their wallets.
“Buck, I’m fine! I swear. And there’s lots of well trained people here to take care of me if something goes wrong. Maddie even helped me change my bandages!” You said, and your boyfriend looked at his sister, who gave him an awkward smile.
Buck looked at you hesitantly before tilting his head and biting the inside of his cheek.
“I guess I can’t make you go home, huh?” He said, smiling slightly and caressing your cheek with his thumb. “Look, please be careful, ok? Promise me that you will take any pain seriously. I don't want you getting any worse.” He smiled at you, kissing your lips.
“I promise, Buck.”
“And now that I know you're here, I want to hear your voice through the radio, ok?” You smiled, confirming with your head.
“I miss doing that.”
“Me too.”
“Ok, lovebirds, let's go. And I'm talking to you too, Chimney.” Hen said, startling Maddie and the firefighter.
“I gotta go, bae. I'll see you home.” Buck said, quickly kissing you before running through the door with the 118. “Love you!”
“Love you too!”
And just like that you spend the rest of your shift talking with your boyfriend through the radio.
Sometimes being stubborn pays off.

Take Your Time - Evan "Buck" Buckley x Reader

pairing: teacher!Evan "Buck" Buckley x single mom!reader
warnings/content: mentions of divorce, single parent, Buck getting a crush on reader.
word count: 2k
Tumblr media
Evan Buckley let out a heavy sigh as he checked over the schedule he’d made for parent-teacher interviews. Teaching kindergarten was quite the change from the fourth and fifth graders he’d been used to, but so far, the seventeen little darlings in his class had been, for the most part, a refreshing new experience. He’d struggled initially, trying to find ways to entertain a classroom of five year olds, but after a week or two, he’d found his groove, settling in nicely in his new surroundings. The school district he’d transferred to was underfunded, a stark difference from the well-to-do private school he’d worked at for the previous three years, but, he appreciated the change - the private school circuit wasn’t for him, he’d learned, and the longer he stayed, the worse it seemed to feel staying in it.
Buck looked up at the clock and furrowed his brow. He had exactly 45 minutes before parents and caregivers would start filing in, eager to meet their son or daughter’s new teacher, probably reacting with shock or surprise to learn that a man was teaching kindergarten, like his new co-workers had done when he started. He wasn’t sure what was so strange about the concept, but for some reason, it felt like a lot of people couldn’t wrap their heads around the idea. He sighed as he got up from his desk and headed down the hallway, the sound of his footsteps echoing as he strolled down the empty corridor.
In the small staff lounge sat a few round tables and aged chairs, upholstered with vinyl and flattened padding, hardly comfortable to sit in for any length of time. On the counter sat a coffeepot that looked to be about as old as Buck was. He’d been hesitant to use it before, questioning both the sanitation and safety of it, but, if he was going to be hosting these interviews until well into the evening, he needed something to get him through the next four and a half hours. He just hoped that coffee would be strong enough.
Back at the comfortable familiarity of his desk, a mug of burnt, flavourless coffee in hand, he looks around the classroom, surveying the layout in an attempt to determine if he needed to make any last minute changes in the next twenty minutes of free time he had. He sighed, realizing there wasn’t much that could be done to improve the room with the small time-frame and limited budget. Twirling a pen between his fingers, he looked out the window, watching the clouds rolling in the California sky. Focusing his attention for a moment, he looked down at the stack of papers, neatly situated on the desk in front of him.
“Right,” he said to himself as he started sifting through the papers, ensuring each student was sorted according to the rudimentary schedule he’d made. “You’ve got this, Buck, you can handle it. A dozen and a half kindergarteners and parents. It’s fine.”
Right on cue, the first parent entered the room at 4 pm, escorting their young daughter in the doorway, ushering her to a seat. Buck stood from his seat for a handshake, awkwardly accepted by the parent. He sat back down and nodded his head. It was going to be a long night.
Tumblr media
“Alright, Holly, are you ready to for Mommy to meet your teacher?” you asked your five-year-old as you stood in the hallway outside of her classroom.
It was later in the evening, the 7:45 slot being the only one you could make work with your hectic work schedule. Holly nodded her head excitedly, tugging on your hand as she tried to pull you into the classroom. You started cycling through a dozen of scenarios in your head, each one playing out how the parent-teacher interview was going to go. You knew very little about your daughter’s teacher, admittedly. You knew a form had come home with Holly on the first day of school, introducing them, but a coffee spill later, that form ended up in the trash before you had a chance to read it.
“Holly!” her teacher smiled warmly, crinkles by his eyes softening as he looked at your daughter. “I’m Mr. Buckley,” he nodded, extending his hand out to you for a handshake. “Mr. Evan Buckley.” He laughed, his cheeks turning red.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Buckley,” you smiled. His grip on your hand was firm, yet gentle. He dropped your hand after holding it a moment longer than he might’ve needed to, before taking his seat at his desk.
“Please, you can call me Evan,” He nodded, smiling as he took a seat. He gestured to the empty chairs in front of his desk, “Please, have a seat.”
Once seated, Evan folded his hands neatly over the stack of Holly’s school work. A pair of tired baby blue eyes looked at you, meeting yours with a softened expression. You could tell he’d been at the school for hours, probably wishing he’d chosen another career choice at this stage, having been stuck in this building since at least 8 am. His dark blonde hair was neatly brushed back, strands held in place with styling product. His dark green sweater accented his pale skin, cheeks rosy and pink from a little too much sun, the pale blue collar of his dress shirt laying flat against his sweater’s neckline - he somehow looked exactly how you’d imagined a male kindergarten teacher to look, and nothing at all like how you’d imagined all at once.
“Holly’s an exceptional student,” he began, nodding his head. “She’s always there to help her friends, and she’s been hard at work practicing the letters of her name. She’s been making some great attempts at writing her name.”
“She has, has she?” You beamed, looking over at Holly, who was now nodding proudly at you.
Evan produced a few sheets of paper with Holly’s name sprawled across the page in large, clumsy handwriting, on brand for a five-year-old child. He shot Holly a smile, sharing in the pride she’s showing for her work.
“It’s been a team effort, but Holly’s been able to write it by herself for a few tries. We just needed to figure out which hand she felt most comfortable trying to write with first, right Holly?” He smiled, flashing a row of perfectly straight, white teeth, a smile you’d expect to see on a poster in your dentist’s office.
Holly nodded her head in agreement as you and Evan continued to discuss Holly’s progress in school, how you’d been struggling the past six months since her dad walked out, and how you were relieved to hear that it hadn’t impacted her performance in school.
After what only felt like a few seconds of discussion, you looked over to see Holly yawning, her eyelids looking heavy with exhaustion. The clock on the wall said 8:20 pm - your meeting had gone 20 minutes over the scheduled time, and now, Holly would be getting to bed later than usual.  Quickly, you stood up, shaking hands with Evan once again.
“It was nice meeting you, thank you for being so supportive of Holly and helping her settle into school.” You started, nodding your head. “I really appreciate it.”
Tumblr media
Buck let out a sigh, the clink of metal keys against the ceramic dish on the table by the door echoing throughout his quiet apartment. It was 9pm on a Friday, and instead of going out with his friends, like most late twenty-somethings, he’d be tucked in on the couch within the next five minutes, takeout containers scattered across his coffee table. He set the paper carry bags on the counter while he rummaged around the kitchen for a clean fork. He knew he should have run the dishwasher before he left that morning, but in his hurry to make it to school early enough to allow time to set up for meeting parents all evening, he’d forgotten half a dozen things he’d planned on doing.
Settling for a plastic fork that he’d found in the back of a drawer, likely stored away from a previous takeout meal, he grabbed his food and sunk down into his couch, a heavy, exhausted sigh drawing from his lips. He began tucking into his dinner, tv remote in the other hand as he shoveled veggie fried rice into his mouth. Sports highlights droned on in the background, something about how the World Series was progressing, two teams Buck didn’t care enough about to pay attention to battling it out for the championship.
As he flipped through the channels, he found himself unable to focus his attention on anything. Well, almost anything.
The only thing his mind could focus on was the last parent interview he’d had for the night. The one with Holly’s mother - a newly single mom who was trying her best, but had to balance a hectic work life with an impending divorce and a five-year-old.
“Thank you for being so supportive of Holly and helping her settle into school, I really appreciate it.”
The woman’s voice echoed in his head, her gratitude evident on her face as she spoke. Buck couldn’t help but feel his heart swell with joy when he heard how she spoke so positively - a welcome change from the disdain and boredom he was met with from the vast majority of parents he spoke to. Blank stares and uninterested nods, “mhmm”s and a couple of “why are we even doing this? It’s kindergarten.” – but not with you.
With you, it was entirely different. Smiling and laughing as you talked, a sense of concern for you washing over Buck as he listened to your concerns about Holly’s transition into school now that your ex-husband had taken off. As he watched you talk, the prettiest set of eyes he’d ever seen fixed on him, your perfect pink lips pursing into the sweetest pout he’d ever seen as you thought, mulling over what Buck was telling you about Holly, dewy, sun-kissed skin accented beautifully by your floral print dress, a light, acid-washed denim jacket draped over your shoulders, framing your figure like a work of art.
The next morning, Buck rubbed his bleary eyes, blinking a couple of times to orient himself. He’d fallen asleep on the couch, again. It wasn’t unusual for him lately, most nights he ended up dozing off before he made it to bed, but usually, he woke up in the middle of the night, making a tired stumble up the stairs to the loft of his apartment where his bed awaited.
He frowned as he looked around the room, sunlight pouring into the living room, washing everything in a bright, golden glow. He sat up on the couch, eyes scanning the room for his phone. He reached down behind a couch cushion, pulling it out with a tired grunt as he stretched muscles that had tensed through the night. His blonde eyebrows furrowed at the time, sighing as he realized the time. He settled back down in the cushions, scrolling aimlessly on social media, trying to catch up on updates he’d missed from friends from past week.
Buck froze when he saw one of the pictures, shared last Saturday, a familiar face smiling at him from the screen. He checked who posted it –- the girlfriend of a friend of his – and his eyes widened as he saw the name of the person tagged. Confirmation that it was, in fact, you. His palms began to feel clammy as he realized you were a friend of a friend, that, if he’d gone out with his friends last weekend, he would have met you under different circumstances, shared a couple of drinks, and, maybe, invited you back to his place if you were interested.
Now, however, things were complicated.
Dating the parent of a student wasn’t entirely forbidden, was it?

A/N: Alrighty, part 2 picks up right after where this one leaves off and I’ll have it up as soon as I edit through it lol. This took like 4 or 5 hours to write as a whole and I’m pretty fuckin proud of it.

A/N: I can't... he's so fucking adorable.
Part 2 Here
Third Person POV
It’s Monday and the LAFD 118 team has been called to a two story house fire and said house is beginning to collapse. Buck and Eddie jog away from it toward the engine to assist in putting out the rest of the fire, having rescued the residents and left them with Hen and Chim. As they approach Bobby, his gaze is cast beind them, “Where is (Y/N)?” he asks looking back to Buck and Eddie. The two look behind them and then back at each other before Buck takes off sprinting back toward the house even as the roof caves.
Bobby makes eye contact with Eddie who is already backing away, “Way ahead of you.” Eddie swiftly catches up with Buck as they both dodge a falling rafter.
“(Y/N)!” Buck yells, fear evident in his voice. Together the two yell for their teammate as they carefully pick through the flames around them. After what feels like ages, but is only a couple of minutes, Eddie slaps his friend on the shoulder. Pulling him to a stop, he motions for Buck to stop yelling. Barely audible over the flames, a chorus of meows is heard.
The two look to each other once again. “Don’t tell me she went back for cats,” Eddie mumbles, shocked.
Buck sighs and begins moving toward the sound, “This is (Y/N) we’re talking about. Of course she did.”
Finally, they find (Y/N) lying in the corner of whats supposed to be the kitchen. A rafter seems to have swept her off of her feet and is now lying across her ribcage. The area is mostly clear of flames and lying just to the side of (Y/N), as if she had dropped it when she was crushed, is an upturned nylon basket which is the source of the meows. “Help me with this rafter,” Buck urges as he moves towards (Y/N). Together the two lift the rafter off of her and toss it aside. Buck bends down and carefully lifts (Y/N) into his arms and begins heading for an exit. Eddie retrieves the basket of cats and follows.
By now, the flames have been subdued and only small flickers are seen scattered across the now demolished building. Buck shakes (Y/N) softly and she begins to wake up. She looks up at him in slight confusion before looking around her. “Wait, wait,” she mumbles, “Put me down, please.” Unwillingly, Buck does so to avoid an elbow or knee to his ribs.
(Y/N)’s POV
I stop Eddie as he catches up to us and retrieve the basket of cats from him. I look inside to make sure all three kittens and their mother are accounted for and at least breathing before I turn back around to find their owner. I spot the little girl with Hen and her parents and beline toward them. My legs attempt to give out from under me as my ribs and head throb in pain but I need to do this. I pull my helmet off, tossing it to the ground and stop in front of the little girl. Holding out the basket to her, I offer a small smile. “Oh! Thank you so much! You shouldn’t have!” her mother gasps as she realizes what is inside the soot covered basket.
“I don’t know what I would do if I lost one of my fur babies. I wanted to,” I lean closer to the mother as the little girl takes the basket, exploding with joy. “For her sake,” I whisper to the mother and father.
Mom pulls me into a tight hug, which makes my ribs riot but I ignore them. She pulls away and places her palm against my cheek, “Thank you so much, honey. You just made this whole ordeal a little better for her.”
I offer another smile, “Don’t thank me yet. They’ll need a vet visit asap and,” I lower my voice, “I tried to keep them covered as much as possible with my coat but they got a good bit of smoke exposure. They seem okay now but I’m not sure about the long term affects,” I pause, “If you catch my drift.”
The father nods, “We understand but regardless, thank you.”
I smile to both of them before kneeling in front of the little girl who has busied herself with brushing the soot off the still meowing cat and kittens, “You take real good care of them okay?” She nods eagerly as she sets the basket aside and hops down from the gurney. She wraps her small arms around my neck in a tight hug and mumbles a thank you into my shoulder. “You are very welcome, Sweetie.”
The little girl lets go and returns to her basket of fluff so I stand and turn around to see Buck waiting a few feet away. He does not look happy and I know I’ll get an earful later. I make my way toward him, and looking back at the little girl with her basket of cats I decide, “It was worth it,” I state firmly to Buck as he meets me and wraps his arms around my shoulders to guide me to the other side of the firetruck out of sight of the family. As soon as we round the corner of the truck, my legs give and Buck has to catch me to keep me from faceplanting the pavement.
He picks me up once more before setting me on the side of the truck. He brushes my hair out of my face, “You’re going to give me an aneurysm one of these days.” Bobby, Hen, and Eddie join us before I can muster up a response. By now my ribs feel like their about to collapse inwards and my head is trying to explode. A bout of diziness nearly takes me down again but I lean into Buck who has collected a handful of alcohol prep pads to clean the soot off my face and taken a seat beside me.
“What’s the damage?” Bobby asks as I do my best to follow the penlight Hen is moving back and forth in my eyes.
“Definitely a concussion,” she respondes, “Let’s see those ribs.” I suppose Eddie must’ve reported back to them alerting them to my injuries plus he’s pulling an oxygen mask over my face.
Bobby nods and holds up my helmet, “Well, that’s not surprising.” I now notice the crack across the visor and cringe. I struggle with my turn out for a moment before Buck slaps my hands away and helps me out of it. I lift my shirt to reveal already bruising ribs.
Hen gently feels across my ribs and presses a stethescope over my lungs. I take a deep breath in as Hen speaks again, “I don’t think they’re broken but definitely heavily bruised.” She pulls the stethescope away and places it back in her kit before taking a step back to look at me, “I know it’ll be your biggest nightmare but you’re gonna have to take it real easy for the next few weeks.”
Buck hooks a finger under my chin and pulls me to face him as I groan. “I know. I know. You’ll live. Now let me get the rest of this mess off so we can bandage these cuts.” Eddie and Bobby depart as I attempt to sit still for Buck but I keep fidgeting and adjusting in an effort to ease the pain in my ribs.
Hen laughs but states seriously, “You’re gonna need a CT scan to check for brain bleeds and some X-rays to make sure your ribs aren’t broken and to check for skull fractures.”
“I know,” I mumble as she passes Buck some band-aids before closing her kit and returning to the other side of the truck. Buck finishes cleaning my face and begins fighting with the wrapper of a band-aid. His hands are shaking so bad he almost drops it several times before I finally wrap my hands around his and look up at him, “Just breathe, Buck. I’m alive,” I pause, “Very banged up but alive.”
His lips press into a thin line and he breaks eye contact to look down at our hands. He lets me have the band-aids so I open one of them before handing it to him for application. As he places it right below my hair line, eyes trained on it and not looking at mine, he mutters something under his breath. I wait for him to place the band-aid and smooth it down before tilting my head, confusion plain to see on my face. He sighs heavily, “I said you scared the shit out of me.” Finally making eye contact with me again he adds, “I can’t lose you. You mean too damn much to me.”
I wrap him in a hug, which he promptly returns, and mumble, “I’m sorry.” He buries his face in my neck as I bury mine in his chest and we stay that way for a long moment before finally returning to the task at hand. I open another band-aid and hand it over for him to place on my cheek below the other. “I just figure that the house burning down is pretty shitty but to lose the cats too would be even worse. I know I would’ve been devasted to lose mine,” I explain and he nods in understanding. Once he’s satisfied with my treatment, we both make our way to join the others, Buck keeping an arm at my back in case I start to collapse again.
Soon, we all depart and return to the Fire House. I’m carted off to the ER to get a CT scan and X-rays as doc ordered. As expected the results confirm a concussion but no brain bleeds, skull fractures, or broken ribs.
Finally the weekend is here and I am spending my Saturday night at Maddie and Chim’s house with Maddie, Athena, Hen, and Karen. By now my concussion is gone for the most part but my ribs are still pretty sore. My fellow ladies are all taking it easy, having a beer or glass of wine. I on the other hand have managed to get sloshed even though they have repeatedly warned me to slow down. Who knows what trouble Buck and Eddie are getting into tonight but Chim is at Bobby and Athena’s house with Jee-Yun for cooking lessons.
I’m currently sprawled out on my back in Maddie’s living room floor babbling on and on. Most of it is drunken non-sense but soon I find myself on a train of thought that I’m not quite sure I should be voicing aloud but drunk me has lost all fucks to give. As soon as the first sentence stumbles out of my mouth, “You know who I really really like?” the ladies are all on the edges of their seats. Hen has even pulled out her phone and started recording but I couldn’t care less. I need to get this off my chest and it’s about fucking time. I might as well carry on while I have the guts. “Buck,” I pause trying but failing to collect my thoughts and decide to simply ramble on as the room wobbles, “He’s just so fucking sweet. He’s got the largest and shiniest heart of gold I’ve ever seen. He’s hilarious as fuck... And adorable... And fine as hell... He makes me feel safe... and happy... and giddy.”
I sit up abruptly and wobble slightly before looking at the nearest person, who just happens to be Maddie, “And I don’t know what the hell the whole knee nudge thing is that he does,” I point to Hen, “You know what I’m talking about. That thing he does whenever he’s sitting beside me where he just like nudges my knee with his,” The room starts to spin so I lay back down and look up at the ceiling, “I-I don’t know what that is. I don’t know if he does it as a funny funny ha ha. Or if he does it to aggravate me. Which it did at first because I couldn’t figure out why he was doing it but I finally gave up and just started nudging back. But anyway, I don’t know why he does it but I hope he never stops... It always reminds me that he’s right there... It reminds me that I’m not alone, that someone will have my back if I’m about to do stupid shit or be there if I need a shoulder to lean on. It makes me feel safe.” I come to a halt and shuffle through the thoughts in my head.
“And another fucking thing. His fucking biceps, dude. They’re damn near as big as my head. Sometimes I just wanna,” I click my teeth together, “bite them. Actually, next time he hits me with the ‘Bite me, (Y/L/N)’... I’ma do it.” I stop to catch my breath and a sudden realization hits me, “I think I fucked up,” I slur out.
“Yeah, honey, you’re pretty wasted,” Athen says with laughter.
“No. No I said I fucked up,” I correct her, assuming she thought I said, “I think I’m fucked up.”
“You mean by drinking so much,” Hen asks,” Yeah, probably so.”
I see Maddie shake her head with a grin out of the corner of my eye and I inquire, “What?”
“Elaborate. They haven’t put two and two together yet,” she replies.
I huff, “I said, ‘I think I fucked up’ because I told myself I was not gonna fall in love again because my luck with relationships is so damn shitty but I think I done fell in love with him and I’m scared.”
“Why are you scared, sweetheart,” Karen asks.
“Because I don’t wanna get hurt again,” I mumble before quickly adding, “It’s not that I think he’s gonna hurt me. It’s just... conditioning ya know? Like, anytime things are going good for a while, my body kicks into fight or flight thinking something bad is about to happen because that’s always what happens. I always get steamrolled and knocked down a peg. I don’t wanna rope him into the shit show that is my life. He deserves someone that has their shit together. Someone who can give him the world. That’s what he deserves... not someone who’s gonna expect shit to go south from the start.” The room is silent as this explanation sinks in.
I hear the beep of Hen stopping the recording as Maddie gets up from the couch and bends down to grab my arm and help me up, “Let’s get you to bed okay?” I nod as she guides me toward a spare bedroom.
Buck’s POV
“How’s (Y/N) doing?” I hear Eddie ask from the kitchen as I sit sipping my whiskey. Chris has already gone to bed for the night and Eddie is putting away leftovers from dinner.
Having not fully processed what he asked due to the alcohol coursing through my bloodstream I drop my head onto the back of the chair I’m sitting in and grin, “She’s just so beautiful.”
Eddie pokes his head around the wall and looks at me in confusion, “What?’
“You asked about (Y/N). She’s pretty... and smart... She’s funny too.”
Eddie waves his hand to interupt me and sits down on the couch across from me, pulling out his phone, “Hang on what were you saying about (Y/N) I couldn’t hear you through your mumbles.”
I know damn well I wasn’t mumbling but repeat myself anyway, “I said, ‘She’s pretty and smart and funny,’” making sure to over-annunciate my words.
“Go on,” Eddie encourages, grinning at his phone.
I shake my head and carry on, “She’s always down for an adventure. She’s self-less. Like, as much as I want to be mad at her for risking her life to save those cats the other day, I can’t be because I know I’d do the same damn thing. She’d risk her life just to make sure someone elses doens’t end or is a little brighter despite the catastrophe they’ve just endured.” I sigh loudly, “I could watch her dance around like a goof ball or ramble about random shit for hours. Her smile makes me smile. Her laugh makes me laugh.”
“Really?” Eddie asks to keep me going.
I nod, “And you know how I nudge her knee with mine all the time?” Eddie nods, “It started out as just a way to annoy her when I was bored but now it’s way more than that. Now it’s a gentle reminder to her that I’m still right there by her side but also a reminder to myself that she’s right there within arms reach. I-I don’t know what I’d do if I lost her. I thought I did when I looked behind us and she wasn’t there. If I had lost her that day then not only would I no longer be able to enjoy her presence but i-it would’ve been my fault. I should’ve pulled up the rear and made sure she got out safe.”
“Don’t blame yourself, Buck. You know she would’ve went back for the cats anyway,” Eddie comments.
“I know but like I said that’s one of the things I love about her,” I pause, “Love. Did I just say love?” Eddie nods, “Man, I think I’m in love.” It’s quiet for a few moments before I breath out a laugh, “She has a really nice ass too.”
Eddie shakes his head and puts his phone away, “Alright buddy,” he says as he gets up and pulls the glass of whiskey from my grasp, “Time for you to hit the hay.” I begrudgingly get up and Eddie helps me to the couch.
“Wait,” I slur out once I’ve plopped onto the couch, and try to get back up but Eddie pushes me back down, “But I wanna go see her,” I whine but as the room wobbles I give up and lie back down.
“You can see her tomorrow. We’re having family breakfast at Athena and Bobby’s remember?” Eddie responds.
“Oh yeah,” I mumble before drifting off to sleep.

and really, it's the way that even though you've been ready, you still waited for me (or, the 5+1 of it all) [ BUDDIE ]
SUMMARY -- the five times eddie diaz slept elsewhere, but then the one time he stayed. WARNINGS -- obscene amount of fluff. there's angst too. explicit language (somewhere, i think, maybe?), it dives briefly into trauma but it's not extensive, a little proof read (but really not at all), sickness but not graphic, poor christopher diaz has nightmares AUTHORS NOTE -- am i really diehard buddie if my first fic isn't buddie? no. obscenely long title be damned. 5 days + 5.1k words later and it is finally finished. wowza.

Despite having hit the one year milestone into the relationship, the “when are you moving in together?” questions started six months into their relationship, Buck and Eddie still hadn’t moved in with each other. Neither of them questioned why not, because they knew there was more harm than good in pressuring someone to do something before they’re ready. So, they settled with Buck occasionally staying the night with the rarity of Eddie sometimes staying at Buck’s sprinkled in for good measure.
Only, it wasn’t going to be as easy as either of them initially believed.
1.
“Chris okay?” Eddie asks not long after Buck reenters the bedroom. If he was going to be completely honest, sometimes it was still a weird concept that Eddie had someone to co-parent with. He knew that sometimes Christopher would want Buck there at bedtime, in favour of Eddie, but it still hurt deep.
“He’s good.” Buck reassures him, he knows it’s important that Eddie knows Christopher is okay; especially when Eddie isn’t doing bedtime, or the school pick up, or drop off. Or all these moments that Eddie had alone before, but now Buck shares them. “He’s had his bedtime story, and now he’s tucked up in bed fast asleep. Christopher is safe.”
Eddie nods, and now he thinks he can complete his nighttime routine a little better. He’d forgotten he was fresh out the shower, towel wrapped around his waist whilst water drips from his hair onto his neck and forehead. The silence shared between them as Eddie resumes his nighttime routine, whilst Buck starts his own nighttime routine, is easy and comforting. “Thank you.” Eddie’s voice is a whisper, but the kiss Buck presses to his temple before he steps into the shower lets Eddie know he has been heard.
It’s fifteen minutes before they climb into bed together. It’s a routine which they both timed out perfectly one evening. On the nights Christopher asks Buck to read the bedtime story and tuck him in, Eddie showers. By the time Christopher is tucked up and fast asleep, which varies anywhere from 30-45 minutes, Eddie is finished in the shower. Just before it’s Buck’s turn in the shower, he’ll confirm that Christopher is asleep.
Buck’s quicker at showering, and he’ll wash his face and brush his teeth under the shower at night. Nobody claims to understand why, but Buck tells everyone it saves on time and on water. They take it as the truth – but really, Buck’s normally too tired to do it separate from the shower. Eddie just finds it endearing, really. Eddie brushes his teeth and cleanses his face, and by the time he’s done, Buck’s finished in the shower so both men dry themselves off and change into their sleepwear of choice. Eddie sleeps by the door, Buck learnt not long into their relationship. He’s, by nature, a protector. And Buck doesn’t mind, not in the slightest, because he loves Eddie. And oh — how Eddie makes him feel safe.
Sleep, like always, comes easy to Buck. It comes with a soft kiss, a whispered I love you, and then he is out. Eddie’s always wondered how he does that, but really, it’s just so Buck. And so, Eddie closes his eyes and hopes that sleep finds him. But when he’s still awake an hour later, he knows he’s fucked. But he tries again, because he does really want to sleep next to his boyfriend, because he’s done it before. He’s frustrated by the fact he feels different this time. So he slides out of bed, grabs his pillow, and instead goes out to the living room.
And as soon as his head hits the pillow, he’s out like a light. Here’s the thing, Buck is a very predictable person, and Eddie has memorised what time Buck will wake up. And whilst he usually wakes up to make Buck a coffee for when he first wakes up, this time it’s to make Buck his usual morning coffee, and then to not arouse any form of suspicion from his boyfriend.
So, when six thirty rolls around, Eddie wakes up to tidy away his temporary bed before making Buck a coffee. And whilst Buck is none the wiser to Eddie’s other sleeping space, it doesn’t stop the guilt. “I slept on the couch last night.” Eddie’s voice is a whisper, and Buck’s very confused. “When you fell asleep, I couldn’t fall asleep so I grabbed my pillow and slept on the couch all night.”
But Buck is still, very much, the epitome of confusion. And panic, as Eddie is quick to discover. “Why’d you sleep on the couch? Did I do something wrong? Do you not want to sleep with me anymore? Have you stopped loving me?”
And oh — how Eddie’s heart bends, then breaks. “No, baby.” He’s quick to reassure his boyfriend. “I know we’ve been together for a year and you’ve stayed over a few times so really this is nothing new to me but-” he pauses, trying to think about how to express his feelings, “I know we’ve also been getting a lot of people pestering us about when we’re going to move in together and I guess it just had me freaked because the last romantic partner I lived with was Shannon.”
“That’s okay.” Buck is, without a doubt, one of the most supportive people that Eddie has ever met before. Sometimes he doesn’t understand what he did to deserve Evan Buckley, but he knows that he will never take him for granted. “I can’t tell you a lie and pretend that you being freaked out about living with me doesn’t sting a little bit. But I can tell you that it is okay. When we first got together, we promised each other that this would be something we would take at our own pace. If you’re nervous about something, we wait. Quite frankly, I don’t care about how long it takes for us to move in together. I’ll love you all the same.”
Eddie doesn’t say anything, just kisses his boyfriend. “I love you all the same, forever.”
2.
Carefully balancing the tray carrying soup and tea up the stairs, Eddie can hear Buck before he can set eyes on him again. The flu had taken hold of him, so he’d relinquished himself to the loft for a few days. “Hey honey.” Eddie reminds himself to keep his voice quiet, not wanting to cause any more distress to his boyfriend than necessary. “I’ve bought you some chicken broth and some honey and lemon tea, figured it’d soothe that throat of yours and keep you hydrated.”
Buck moves to look at the man through bleary eyes, grimacing at the mere mention of food. He’d been unable to keep anything down for a few days, and Eddie was growing more worried with each hour that passed. “Don’t wan’ food.” Buck’s tired, terribly so, and Eddie can only feel guilt knowing what he’s about to do. “Wan’ sleep.” Buck mumbles, trying to lay himself down. The exertion, however, only makes him cough.
“I know, mi amor.” Eddie can feel his heart breaking, but he knows he needs to get Buck sitting up once more. Pillows are rearranged until he’s as comfortable as he can be, and Buck just sniffles sadly. It’s hard going through this with Christopher, Eddie thinks, but Christopher is a kid, and he’s not the one unable to do what he was born to do until he’s fully recovered. “I know you want to sleep, and baby I promise you can soon, but you just gotta eat and drink for me first. If I can’t get that fluid intake up myself, you’ll get severely dehydrated which you know is an immediate ER visit. How about if I spoon feed you, hmmm?”
Buck knows all this, but he also knows he’ll throw up anything he’ll consume; he supposes it’ll be a bit less painful if he’s got something in his stomach beforehand though. He nods pathetically, tears lining his blue eyes. It’s a long thirty minutes before the soup is all done, and although Buck feels even more weary than before, the warm broth gives him an ounce of energy back. Just enough energy to drink the tea himself. “I know Abuela made that soup.” Buck whispers whilst Eddie fixes the pillows so he can sleep. “You suck at cooking. She obviously dropped it whilst I was asleep.”
Eddie pretends to ignore it, although he knows it’s the truth. Buck had been out of it for the entire day, giving Eddie plenty of time to clean up the apartment and tell Abuela it was safe to come round with the soup. It warmed his heart, however, that Buck recognised Abuela’s cooking when he tasted it. “You just go to sleep, mi amor.” Eddie whispers back, brushing Buck’s hair off his sweaty forehead once the man had laid down once more. He lays with him, flu be damned, “I’ll even stay with you until you fall asleep.”
And true to his word, he does. He’s there right until Buck’s snoring practically rattles around the apartment. Eddie places a soft kiss to the sweaty forehead before he collects the bowl and mug on the tray, wordlessly carrying it downstairs and loading it into the dishwasher. A quick spruce up of the apartment, and a quick shower, before he settles himself on the couch and drifts off to sleep.
3.
It’s 3am. Evan Buckley solemnly swears that he hates 3am. If only for one reason: he absolutely cannot get to sleep. And, like a desperate man, he’s tried everything. He’s tried cuddling with Eddie, that didn’t work. He tried lying with his back to Eddie, which sucked and also didn’t work. He’s tried playing some soft, gentle music in the hopes it would quieten his thoughts, but that didn’t work. And if Evan Buckley was being truthful, he was getting very very fed up with his predicament. So, he tried the failsafe option of getting Evan Buckley to sleep each time.
Waking the other person up to pester them with questions until Buck got so tired he’d fall straight to sleep. That person just so happened to be one Edmundo Diaz.
“Eddie!” Buck whispered, very loudly, but to no avail. Chewing on his bottom lip, he thought for a good thirty seconds before trying the one method that would 100% definitely work — even if Eddie would end up getting annoyed when he realised it was a false alarm. “Hey Eddie, there’s a fire in the kitchen.”
Naturally, at the mention of fire, Eddie’s eyes shot open and he sat up. Buck took one look at the panicked look in his eyes, trying not to giggle, before looking at him very solemnly. “Sorry, I needed to wake you up and that was the only thing I could think of that’d work.” Buck apologised, completely ignoring the murderous look in his partners eyes in favour of pressing a very soft kiss to the man’s shoulder.
“I hate you.” Eddie deadpanned, climbing out of bed to double check the apartment was definitely not about to burn to a crisp. Once satisfied, he climbed back into bed and invited Buck to cuddle into him. Deep down, he knew this was not the first time Buck’s done this, and it was likely to not be the last time, and he was growing increasingly concerned at how often this was happening. “What’s wrong, mi amor? How come you’re not sleeping again?”
“Just couldn’t sleep.” Buck shrugged, and Eddie had to concentrate very hard to not giggle at the tickling feeling of Buck’s hair on his chest. Both men hated how much of a regular occurrence this was getting, and Eddie made a mental note to ask Buck if maybe it was time to seek professional help in the morning. “Can I ask you a question?” Buck’s voice was serious this time.
“Any question in the world, mi amor.” Eddie had to practically fight back the yawn, deciding to settle the two of them back down into a lying position.
“Would you still love me if I was a worm?” Buck asked, his voice completely serious. Eddie blinked once, then twice, then three times. But he still could not make any sense of the question which had just been asked of him. And Buck, sweet Buck with a heart dripping pure gold, assumes Eddie just hadn’t heard the question so he asks again. “Would you still love me if I was a worm?”
A beat of silence before, “yes. Wriggly body and all.”
Buck thinks for a second, wracking his brain for another silly question to ask but instead a very serious one pops into his mind instead. “Would you still love me if I wasn’t a firefighter?”
Eddie can’t help but think Buck sounds sad. He knows what he’s thinking about, and Eddie silently questions if that’s the reason he’s not been sleeping so great. “Baby, is that why you’ve not been sleeping great? You only think I love you because you’re still a firefighter?”
Buck doesn’t say anything, and Eddie knows that he’s hit the nail on the head with that one. And oh, how it breaks his heart to learn his partner thinks that. “Mi amor, I would love you no matter what job you were in. You could be an arsonist, and I still wouldn’t love you any less. The love I have for you is not defined by any career you have now, or in the future. I love you, because you are you. The fact you’re a firefighter and I get to spend so much time with you is just extra.”
“Thank you.” Buck whispers, grateful for the reassurance. Eddie presses a soft kiss to his forehead, with such a tenderness that Buck knows that this is something he wants forever. He knows that time as a firefighter is not promised, and one day an accident may take him out of the field, but it feels oh-so-good to know that Eddie will not love him any less. “I love you too. No matter what.”
“No matter what.” Eddie agrees, filling the room with such a pure, warm love that it seeps into their very bones and Eddie thinks it makes him just a tiny bit more tired. “Come on, mi amor. Let’s get some sleep before tomorrow.”
Buck thinks that it’s a very fine suggestion, but his brain is itching to ask one more question. And Eddie can sense it too, “if you ask a stupid question I’m sleeping on the couch.” He threatens, voice serious. But Buck doesn’t care, he knows it’s not serious.
“Would you still love me if all my fingers were teeth and my toes were noses?”
Eddie doesn’t say anything, just gently rolls Buck out of his arms so he’s free to climb out of bed. Buck looks at him as he grabs his pillows, and the one stupid throw blanket Buck’s ever so insistent about keeping at the end of the bed. “I’m going to sleep on the couch. Goodnight.”
Eddie tries not to giggle as he quietly stomps down the steps, settling himself in for the rest of the night on the couch. Despite not being anywhere near him, he can still tell Buck is about to protest and demand he comes back to bed. “Goodnight, Evan.”
Yeah, Evan Buckley thinks, this is forever.
4.
If there was one thing Edmundo Diaz knew to be absolutely true about Evan Buckley, it's that he was a very, very, very incredibly hard person to sleep in the same bed with. The snoring never bothered him, and whilst he wouldn’t openly admit it, neither did the 3am questions most of the time. The one thing that really bothered him? The incessant wriggling.
Eddie knew Buck couldn’t help it, he knew Buck was a very restless sleeper, but it was just infuriating when Eddie had just come off a 24 hour shift, with Buck might he add, and just wanted to sleep for the next 19 hours. Instead of having a peaceful sleep, Eddie was woken up several times by Buck’s incessant movement.
He didn’t let it bother him too much, however, for Buck usually went back to his own apartment after the two of them had spent the day asleep in Eddie’s bed. There was laundry, amongst other household chores, that needed to get done so Eddie was always incredibly grateful for a peaceful night's sleep.
So really, it only truly left Eddie feeling disconcerted when Buck stayed at his house the night before a 24 hour shift. Christopher had been dropped off at Abuela’s house and tucked into bed by Eddie for 8pm on the dot, so Eddie had been able to drop down into his bed with Buck at 10pm without worrying too much about his son. He had fallen asleep at 10:30pm, but by 11pm, however, he had been woken up twice.
“Alright Buck, there we go.” Eddie whispered, manoeuvring his partner's body into a safer sleeping position before going back to sleep. He was asleep for maybe 45 minutes before Buck kicked out again, waking Eddie up and resulting in a cushion or two being put in between them in the hopes it would alleviate it a little bit. “There we go, mi amor.” Eddie was a patient man, he truly was, but he would be lying through his teeth if he said that his patience wasn’t wearing thin a little bit.
Eddie was woken up one, two, three more times before his patience had worn thin enough to take more drastic measures. But he knew it wasn’t Buck’s fault at all, so Eddie just made sure the floor was cushioned enough to reduce the risks of serious injury should Buck fall off the bed before grabbing a spare pillow and heading out to the couch in the hopes he would have a better sleep.
When morning came, however, and Buck woke up rather cheerfully, Eddie woke up more grumpy than usual with an incredibly stiff back. He was, also, adamant on not sharing the real reason he slept on the couch for fear of making Buck self-conscious so just settled with the excuse of not being able to fall asleep so instead Eddie ended up falling asleep in front of the television.
And if Buck didn’t believe him, well, that’s something he would never tell.
5.
After everything he had been through in his short life, it really was not a surprise that Christopher Diaz had nightmares. It was hard on Buck to see a boy with such an immensely bright personality cry, but as his father, Eddie Diaz took it personally. Rational thinking Edmundo Diaz would know it was the trauma, but parent Edmundo Diaz who got up every time his child called out for him felt like he was the worst parent in the history of parents.
“Daddy!” Christopher’s voice echoed around the Diaz household, pulling both Buck and Eddie out of sleep. Buck sleepily checked the time on his phone, 1:00, whilst Eddie sighed a similar sigh of a broken man and went to comfort his child. And oh — if Eddie’s heart split into two pieces so painfully before, it had now. “I had a nightmare that you died because of the bad man and Buck drowned!”
“Oh Christopher.” Eddie sighed out, wrapping his arms around his sobbing child. The worst day of his life was when he believed that Christopher Diaz, his heart and soul and very reason for living, had been claimed by the tsunami that wrecked Los Angeles. And he knew that one of Buck’s, and Christopher’s by extension, worst days was when he was shot by a sniper at a call that station 118 was not even called out to. “Mi hijo, no matter what happens to us, me and Buck will always fight to come back home to you. And right now, we are safe. We are home. And you are safe.”
Eddie stayed until Christopher fell asleep. Every single night it happened, Eddie always reassured him the same way, tucked him back into bed, and stayed just until Christopher had fallen asleep once more.
It got onto the seventh day of nightmares when Eddie took the boy to a therapist. And individually, and a family, they worked through their traumas. And Christopher seemed like he was getting better.
Until, of course, four weeks after they started therapy.
“Daddy!” Christopher’s teary voice echoed around the house again, waking up both Buck and Eddie. Buck checked his phone, 1:00, whilst Eddie sighed and climbed out of bed to comfort his son. And oh — how it broke Eddie’s heart once more. He knew that the nightmares would not stop just because they had started therapy, but it had been three and a half weeks of no nightmares. “You and Buck died and so did mom.”
“I know mom is no longer with us, Christopher.” Eddie began, laying on his bed and letting his child get comfortable. This was going to be a long night, for all of them, and as much as Eddie wanted his son to be happy, he would never exchange all the moments he got to hold him; as though he was making up for lost time. “But she died with so much love in her heart for you. And you still have so much love in your heart for her and that’s why it hurts so much and that’s why you have bad dreams sometimes. But I am safe, and Buck is safe, and you are safe. And mom would say it is okay to use some of that love for someone else. Because mom would just want you to be loved, and she will never stop loving you.”
Christopher nodded, smiling sadly up at his dad. “So, I can use the love I have for mom for Buck? And she wouldn’t be upset, because my love is making someone else happy?”
“Yes, mi hijo.” Eddie pressed a kiss to his sweaty forehead. It amazed him, sometimes, just how smart Christopher was, and just how much he understood things in his own individual way. “You can use as much of mom’s love on Buck as you want. And even if you didn’t use all of the leftover love, it would still make Buck the happiest. Now sleep, Chris. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.”
“Can you stay even when I fall asleep?” Christopher asked, his big brown eyes red from all the tears. And oh — how Eddie’s heart started healing itself at the look; a look he recognised well, from Shannon, and in recent months Buck, and he can’t help but wonder if Buck had picked up the Christopher Diaz puppy-dog eye special. “I know that you normally go after I fall asleep but I think I need you to stay all night tonight.”
“I am here until the sun rises, mi hijo.” Eddie promised, moving himself to get comfortable on the small bed before the two Diazes fell asleep. And well, if Evan Buckley slept on the floor of Christopher’s room all night, that’s something he would never tell.
Even if Edmundo Diaz knew that he had.
+1.
It had been the longest twenty-four hour shift in recorded history. Evan Buckley was almost positive of that fact. And every time he spoke it into existence over the past twenty-four hours, he was met with comments that 24 hours is still 24 hours, it does not change in length.
“‘M so tired.” Buck mumbled, leaning his head on Eddie’s shoulder in the back of the truck. With eyes closed, he missed the looks his friends were shooting at each other, even if he could feel them practically burning into him. “Take a picture, it’ll last longer.”
Eddie practically burned holes into Hen, and Chimney’s phone as they both took pictures. Whilst he was incredibly unsure what Hen was planning for hers, and (not that he would ever admit it) slightly terrified for Buck, Eddie was 110% sure that Chimney had sent his photo to Maddie. Either way, he would persuade one of them to send it to him; that was a lockscreen photo for sure. Eddie waited until the familiar sights of the firehouse before he pressed a soft kiss to his boyfriends sweaty head, “hey Buck. We’re back. Shifts over, come on.”
It took Buck a minute or two to get reacquainted with his bearings, and by that point Bobby, Hen and Chimney had already jumped out of the truck and into the locker room. As soon as he was fully aware, and Eddie was positive he wasn’t about to fall out the truck, the two men jumped out and ditched their turnouts, “ugh. I cannot wait to get home and sleep.” Buck grumbled, changing out of his department mandated uniform and into his civilian clothes before following Eddie out of the firehouse and into his truck.
“Chris is at Abuelas for the weekend.” Eddie grinned at his lover, turning the radio onto a quiet station before pulling out of the parking lot.  Ordinarily Christopher being at Abuela’s would mean some incredibly hot, steamy sex for the duo but the rough twenty-four hour shift they had just pulled had other plans. “48 uninterrupted hours of junk food, shit telenovelas and all the sleep we could ask for lay ahead of us.”
The sleepy smile that Buck threw in Eddie’s direction was still bright enough to rival the force of the Sun, and it was a smile that one Edmundo Diaz could bathe in forever. It had felt like hours before they had reached the Diaz residence, both weekend bags forgotten in the trunk as they both stumbled up the pathway and into the house. Two showers and a very tasty order of Chinese takeout later, the two men collapsed into bed.
“You don’t have to sleep in the bed if you don’t think you want to, Eddie.” Buck’s voice was quiet but in the silence of the house, Eddie heard it all the same. He didn’t say anything, unaware that Buck was even aware of all the times he had slept somewhere else. “I know you’re still adjusting to someone else sleeping in the bed, and I know there was that time I was sick so really it was nobody’s fault, or the fact I ask stupid questions at 3am when I can’t sleep. Or I wriggle too much, or Chris has nightmares. I know about all of that. And, it’s okay.”
“Are you sick right now?” Eddie asked, and Buck blinked owlishly at him as he tried to process the question he had been asked. Eddie sighed, it wasn’t that Buck was entirely stupid, it’s just sometimes he could be a little bit stupid. And Eddie loved him for it, until it stopped the two of them from actually sleeping. “It’s a really easy yes or no question, Buck. Any fever? Nausea? Aches and pains? Sore throat? Headache? Stomach ache?”
“Eddie, stop it. We’re not at work, stop trying to diagnose me with anything.” Buck’s smile was fond, and he would be lying if it didn’t look like Eddie wanted to smack him a little bit right now. “I have a headache from lack of sleep and a stressful shift. I do not have any other symptoms. I am not sick.”
“Okay.” Eddie breathed out, pulling an incredibly confused Buck into his arms. “Now that we have come to the conclusion that you are very much hot, but not sick. Is Christopher here?”
Evan Buckley was getting more and more perplexed by the very second, “I really hope not. Otherwise we have just starved the poor kid. And completely ignored his existence which would actually break my poor heart if we had to look at him and apologise.”
“Exactly.” Eddie pressed an oh-so-tender kiss to Buck’s lips, who wasn’t entirely ungrateful, but he was still so confused. And wow — how Buck’s confused face had completely stormed its way into Eddie’s mind. “We have ruled out two potential reasons for me not sleeping in the bed right now. Now I don’t mind about you, but I am absolutely exhausted so can we please just go to sleep?”
Buck conceded, pulling the comforter over the two men with a content smile. Eddie was warm, and safe, and wow, Evan Buckley loved him very much. “I’m ready.” Came Eddie’s whisper, thirty minutes after they believed the other had fallen asleep. “I know that sometimes it will still feel weird sleeping next to you, or you’ll get sick, or you’ll wake me up to ask silly 3am questions, or you’ll move too much in your sleep or Chris will get nightmares. But I’m ready.”
“Ready for what?” Buck really could not stop himself from asking this one question. Because, if you ask Evan Buckley how he was feeling in this very moment, he’d probably answer with: very tired, and even more confused. But if you asked one Edmundo Diaz how he was feeling in this very moment, he’d probably answer with: scared, but excited at the prospect of stepping into something so entirely amazing and life changing. And oh — how he was more than ready.
“What I’m saying is Buck.” Eddie paused, looking at the man before him with more love in his eyes than he’s positive Buck has ever been shown before. “I want to be there. When you can’t sleep, or you’re fidgeting in your sleep, or when you’re sick. And, I want you to be there when I’m feeling weird about anything, or when Chris has nightmares. I want you to be in our lives forever.”
“Are you-” Buck had to stop himself, tears threatening to spill from tired blue eyes at any second. He knew Eddie would be ready for marriage one day, he just didn’t realise it was going to be today. “Are you proposing?”
“No, not yet.” Eddie’s smile was soft, and oh — how hard Buck found it to be disappointed when the love of his life was smiling at him so fondly, and so in love. “What I’m saying is, I’d really like it if you would move in. I mean, you have waited and been patient and never complained when I slept in other places. I know we’ve been fielding questions for ever, and I know I wasn’t ready, but things are different now. And really, it’s the way you’ve been ready but you still waited for me. So please, move in with me?”
“If I say yes, can we finally go to sleep?” Buck asked, trying and failing to hold in the biggest yawn Eddie thinks he’s ever seen. And so, Eddie nods, and Buck says yes. And Eddie knows nothing will feel better than knowing he’ll wake up to Buck’s face in the morning, and the morning after that, and all the mornings.
Until, of course, they make it a forever thing.
(And they do. Eleven months, two weeks, and one day later.)

evan buckley x reader
gif does not belong to me
a/n: i adore this idea, thank you for sharing <3 i worked on this very sporadically, and i’m not the biggest fan of it but i hope you enjoy!
whoever brought those brownies in was an angel to y/n. yeah, a felony for sure, but she’d be lying if she said she didn’t secretly enjoy it.
even though the whole station had been haunted by taylor and her team the entire day, all of the worries of the job seemed to vanish. buck wasn’t sure why, but he just saw everything different than he has before. nature called for him and he was more than excited to be at his job.
he just wanted to laugh at everything, each little girl in front of him was the most adorable thing he’s ever seen. he watched y/n from across the room, sitting on the floor and playing with a girl in a massive dress shaped like a pastry.
“where did you get this dress?” she asks, running her fingers down the satin on the side.
“my mommy bought it for me!”
“can she buy one for me?” y/n asks, turning her head to see the grown firefighter skipping over.
“y/n!” he shoots out quickly, jogging over to lean next to her on the ground.
“hi buck! will you buy me a dress like this?”
“only if you buy me one,” he smiles. “maybe we should put bobby in one.” he starts completely laughing at the thought of bobby in a pretty pink dress, with a sash and a tiara.
“what is going on- buck!” chim shouts. “can someone help us over here?”
“how are we not helping?” buck asks, leading y/n to just shrug. they glance over at eddie in the corner, looking at all the pageant girls like they have 5 heads. he almost looks fearful of them, swaying in his spot.
the next few minutes were a blur, and suddenly they were all handcuffed together against a wall. hen, eddie, buck, and y/n were all connected by their hands, being watched by athena like they misbehaved at school.
“ooh, you made him cry!” buck teases, looking at the tears streaming down eddie’s face. y/n just looks closer to athena’s face.
“you’re a hot cop, thena,” y/n speaks airily, just smiling cheekily at the officer in front of her.
“you guys are high as hell and you’re on duty.”
“what?” hen exclaims. “i didn’t smoke anything-“
“well you ate something! someone brought marijuana brownies into the station, so you’re all off work.”
the team just looks around in shock, not fully caring until y/n and buck start giggling once more. “just- just sit down against this wall, and do not move.” athena demands, walking away to deal with the other emergency in the main room.
y/n and buck sat fine against the wall, comparing hands and very lightly slapping each other on the sides. a few spouts of silence would happen for a few minutes while the group of stoners just watched the world pass in front of them.
“buck,” y/n whispers.
“what?” he asks.
“you’re really cute, like i just figured i’d let you know.”
“thanks, you’re a cutie, too,” she giggles at his words, throwing her head back against the wall as he just glances at her. normal, sober buck would’ve had a racing heart and nerves fluttering all over his body because she told him he was cute. he knows he’s not bad looking, but hearing it from her is when he truly believes it. now, he just figured why not? yolo, anyway.
“no, you’re like cute cute. like hot oiled up firefighter cute.”
“that means so much, y/n,” he says, the sly remark almost making his heart clench.
“i want you under my christmas tree.”
“well, i want you in an easter egg for me.”
“well, i want you-“
“can you just shut up?” eddie asks, still distressed about being handcuffed and drugged. “we get it, you’re into each other. and what happens when you’re not high?”
“i don’t remember talking to you,” buck teases, giving eddie a side eye but keeping his head directed towards the pretty girl next to him.
“alright,” athena comes back into sight. “let’s get you all home, maybe sleep off some of this.”
the next morning, y/n remembered every little thing she said to buck, and he remembered every little thing he said to her. they hoped maybe it was like alcohol, making them forget what they may or may not have said, but nope. it was clear as day. it didn’t feel as awkward, though. it felt easier. like a weight was off their shoulders after being weighed down for so long.
when they both arrived at work, the look from the other just told them everything they had to know. buck meant everything he said, and so did she. her eyes lightly wandered over his, and he didn’t even make her say anything. they both knew that those cookies made a great thing burst open.

It was a sunny day outside, and your plans to have a picnic with your family were confirmed when you saw the bright blue sky outside your window.
The picnic was going to be on the park that you and Buck had your first date in. It was also the park where you guys met, the place where you told him you were pregnant and the one where he proposed to you. So it was a very special place for the both of you.
It was the first time you and your little family left the house for that kind of activity. Usually, it was very hard for you and Buck to have some time together, since you two had opposite schedules: him as a firefighter, you as a 911 dispatcher.
But after you got a little bit of your old body back, you wanted to try your favorite dress. And this was the perfect occasion.
You carefully picked up your dress from your closet. It was white with blue flowers, and it stopped above your knees. It had a slit and an off shoulder neckline. It showed your curves perfectly, and everytime you wore it, Buck couldn’t stop looking at you. He never could, but it was very special when you also felt good about yourself.
You put it on, feeling the soft cloth on your skin. You felt extremely comfortable on your own skin for a little bit.
But then, you looked at yourself in the mirror.
You couldn’t see your waist anymore, not like you used to. Your arms were a little chubbier, and your smile started fading away as you found more and more "flaws" on your body and face.
Before you could take it off, the bedroom’s door opened.
“Babe?” He called, entering the room. He stopped walking when he put his eyes on you.
His mouth was half-opened, and his eyes traveled through your body. His cheeks started getting red, and a smile formed in his face.
“You look…”
“I know, I know, I was about to change.” You said, starting to open the zipper.
“No, no! You look amazing, babe. I feel like I fell in love with you all over again.” He said, grabbing your waist and caressing it.
“You don’t need to lie to me just because we’re engaged, babe.” You said, holding his face with your hands.
“I’m not lying!” He answered, grabbing your hands. “You just had a baby, my love. You are going too hard on yourself. It’s not even justifiable, because you look incredibly sexy as always, okay?” He said, making you laugh.
“Are you being serious, Buck?”
“Look, if you don’t believe me, let’s call Maddie. Act like you just bought this dress and want her opinion on it, okay? She’ll be honest.”
Before you could answer, Buck grabbed your phone and facetimed his sister, who picked up after three beeps.
“Hi, honey! How are you?”
“Hi, Maddie! Can you help me with something?”
“Sure! What do you need?”
“Does this dress look good?” You asked as you put your phone on your pillow, stepping back so she could see it better.
“Oh, honey, it looks so good! You look so pretty!” She said, smiling genuinely. “It suits you perfectly! I love it!”
“Promise?”
“Yes! Yes, I promise.”
“Ok, thank you!” You said, ending the call. Buck was looking at you, leaning against the doorframe and smiling proudly.
“What did I tell you?” He said, walking to you and grabbing your waist again.
“Thank you, babe.” You said, putting your arms around his neck.
Buck smiled and started kissing you slowly, caressing your waist. He only broke the kiss to start distributing them around your face, which made you giggle.
His eyes started to shine as he heard the sound of your laugh. He suddenly pulled you up and started spinning you in the air, only to carefully throw you on the mattress and begin kissing you again.
“We need to go, babe!” You said in between kisses, making him pout.
“Do we really need to?”
“Babe…”
“I'm just kidding, my love. Let's go.” He said, giving you one last kiss before pulling you up. “But when we get home, you'll be all mine.”
“Promise?” You asked while putting your hands on his shoulders.
“Always.”

Part 1 Here
(Y/N)’s POV
The sun coming through the curtains wakes me from my slumber but upon opening my eyes, I immediately shut them again because the sun is so much brighter than it should be. I roll over to find a bottle of water, some Asprin, a note, and my phone on charge. I don’t half remember last night to be honest. I know I got shitfaced in Maddie’s livingroom and look around me to find myself in one of her spare bedrooms. I reach over and pick up the note and read it, “Take two and chug. Don’t forget about breakfast at Athena and Bobby’s -Maddie” I do as directed and then check my phone to find a text from Hen that reads, “’A drunk mind speaks a sober heart.’ -Jean-Jaques Rousseau” there’s a video attatched so I make sure my volume is low so that it doesn’t burst my eardrums before opening it. I watch myself confess my feelings for Buck and flop back over to my back groaning once it’s over. I take a few deep breaths before getting up from the bed.
I mentally thank Maddie upon finding my duffle bag and shoes at the foot of the bed. I struggle out of last night’s clothes and into clean ones, yank on my shoes, and venture downstairs in hopes of finding my keys and slipping out without waking Maddie, Chim, or the kiddo. Unfortunately, no such luck as they have already beat me out of bed. I tip toe around the corner into the kitchen only to find Maddie standing at the counter sipping coffee as she lovingly watches Chim play with Jee-Yun. I sigh in defeat as she notices my entry and picks up my keys from the counter beside her, “How’re you feeling?” she asks as she tosses them to me.
“Like I got ran over by a train,” I laugh, “And embarassed,” I blush.
She smiles, knowing exactly what I’m referring to, “It’s alright. We all knew, we were just waiting for you to figure it out,” she winks.
It’s now that oblivious Chimney joins us with his adorable daughter perched on his hip, “Are we ready to head out?” Maddie and I nod so the four of us depart for the Grant-Nash residence. The entire way there I am contemplating just going home to avoid knowing and teasing looks from Maddie, Athena, Hen, and Karen all day but force myself to stay en-route because this has become a long standing tradition. One Sunday a month, the whole fireteam, their significant others, and their children gather at Bobby and Athena’s for a good old fashioned family breakfast. I ponder if I’ll even survive this one as I pull into the drive way and put my car in park but am quickly dragged out of my safety zone by Athena’s waving hand at the front door.
Buck’s POV
I shouldn’t have drank so much last night, I realize as I roll off the couch with a loud thump. From the kitchen, Christopher and Eddie giggle before Eddie cheers, “Good morning, Sleeping Beauty. Better get your ass up and get some Asprin in you and clean clothes on or we’re gonna be late to family breakfast.” I groan but know he’s right. I swipe my phone off the coffee table before making my way to the kitchen for Asprin and then to the bathroom to change clothes. I have a text from Eddie that reads, “Maybe just show her this since you can’t ever figure out how to tell her yourself,” attatched is a video so I press play to listen as I change clothes. By the time the video ends, I have my hands pressed to the counter and am staring down at my phone in shock. Maybe Eddie’s right. Apparently drunk me has a talent for explaining how I feel that sober me does not.
I grabbed my phone and exit the bathroom to make my out of Eddie’s place, declaring to him on my way out, “Don’t say a word,” feeling his amused look on the back of my neck I feel a blush creep to my cheeks, “Stop it. Don’t give me that look.” Soon, the three of us arrive at the Grant-Nash household and I have to elbow Eddie in the ribs when we see (Y/N) getting out of her car due to the grin on his face.
Third Person POV
The breakfast gets along almost as it always does. Lots of chit chats and laughter. The ladies send teasing looks toward (Y/N) when Eddie asks how their night went but (Y/N) ignores them and they simply say it was quite interesting and elaborate no further. Eddie saw the looks though and makes a mental note to ask Hen or Maddie about it later. Several times Eddie caught Buck glancing or staring at (Y/N) and shot him a teasing grin over Christopher’s head. Buck brushed it off with a glare everytime.
As mentioned, things aren’t quite the same as usual. As is normal, Bobby sits at the head of the table with Athena to his right followed by Harry, May, Karen, Hen, and (Y/N). To his left is Jee-Yun in a high chair followed by Chimney, Maddie, Eddie, Christopher, and Buck. Usually, Buck would playfully kick at (Y/N) under the table and she’d snatch food off his plate, mostly his fruit. They would get carried away in their own conversation and their fits of giggles and laughter would ring out over the other conversations happening but when anyone would look their way to question what is so funny they’d be too distracted to give an answer. Everyone always got a kick out of their playful behavior. However, today there was no playful kicks under the table or food snatched off of plates. The two couldn’t even look each other in the eye, too embarassed by their confessions last night that the other had no idea about. Although they did sneak glances toward each other when the other wasn’t looking. When Christopher has Buck’s attention or Buck is arguing about how a call went with Chimney over three heads, (Y/N) watches him out of the corner of her eye but pretends to be focused on something else or collects a bite of food if he happens to look anywhere near her direction. When (Y/N) is watching Jee-Yun giggle as her father makes airplane noises circling a small bite of pancake toward her mouth or listening in on the conversation between Hen, Karen, and May, Buck admires her subtly over the rim of his coffee cup but as soon as (Y/N) returns her gaze to her plate or someone near him he too distracts himself with something else. This odd behavior did not go unnoticed by the other adults at the table or even Christopher who would normally be too busy giggling at the pair’s antics to eat.
The young boy also happens to be the first and only one to call the two out on the peculuarity of it all, “Buck? Why are you not kicking (Y/N)? And you haven’t stole any of his fruit,” he adds looking to her.
The adults all grin as Harry also chimes in, “Yeah you guys have been quiet.”
May nudges her brother and shakes her head as their mother speaks up, “I think they just don’t feel too good today. Maybe they didn’t get enough sleep.” Christopher and Harry exchange a look that says they don’t believe that one bit but a different conversation is picked up by the adults to shift the attention off of the two.
(Y/N) risks a glance at Buck, wondering what his reaction is but he had also taken the same risk. The two lock eyes but quickly look away. In attempts to escape the situation and catch the breath that had been stolen by looking into his bright blue eyes (Y/N) excuses herself from the table saying her still bruised ribs are bothering her and she needs to stretch.
Once safely in a bathroom, (Y/N) stares at herself in the mirror trying to decipher what it was that she saw in his eyes. Buck always has shown exactly how he feels through his eyes but today she can’t quite make out what exactly that is. She sighs heavily just as someone knocks on the door.
Out in the dinning room, Buck has excused himself as well giving no particular reason but the adults need not ask because they know exactly why. As soon as Buck is out of earshot, Eddie leans forward to look at all the ladies in turn before asking, “What exactly happened last night?” The women all look at each other seeming to silently debate about spilling the beans.
Chimney and Bobby look at each other as well before Bobby adds, “I would like to know as well but you seem to have something to share too.”
May giggles, “It’s like a Mexican stand off of exciting stories.”
Chimney retrives a coin from his pocket, “Heads, Eddie is up first. Tails, one of you ladies are gonna have to spill.”
Everyone nods as Maddie looks down the hall, “Might want to be quick and quiet about it.”
Chimney flips the coin and it comes up tails so Maddie wiggles in her seat and props her elbows up on the table, placing her fingers together. She takes a dramatic pause despite her warning to hurry up before explaining, “(Y/N) got plastered last night and we now have video proof as confirmation that she has feelings for Buck.”
“I knew it!,” May whispers excitedly.
Eddie lightly smacks Maddie on the arm, “You’re telling me they both confessed on the same night to separate people but have no idea?” Everyone looks to Eddie in shock, “Yeah, he had a few drinks last night and apparently drunk Buck has an easier time with putting his feelings into words. I got it on video”
Hen laughs, “A drunk mind speaks a sober heart.”
Everyone excitedly yet still remaining quiet cheers before Bobby settles them down, “Those videos stay with those who took them and we don’t mention this around them. Understood?” Everyone nods except Eddie and Hen who give Bobby a guilty look. He responds to their looks with one of suspicion, “What did you two do?” In unison the two videographers confess that they sent their video to the corresponding subject.
Hen adds, “I figured if she had the video she could just show it to him when she’s ready.”
Eddie nods in agreement, “I literally told him it might be an easier way of telling her if he can’t find the words while sober.”
Bobby grins and shakes his head as Athena chimes in, “We’ll see. For now, let’s talk about something else so they’re not suspicious of us when they come back.”
Back in the bathroom, (Y/N) responds to the knock at the door, “Who is it?”
“It- it’s me,” comes Buck’s voice from the other side.
(Y/N) takes a deep breath before unlocking and opening the door to let him in. She hops up to take a seat on the counter as he enters and closes the door behind him. They both stare at their hands, nervously fidgeting with anything they can until they both speak at the same time, “I’m sorry, I’m just-” They stop, staring at each other with red all over their cheeks.
Normally, Buck would be a gentleman and let her go first but he just had to get this off his chest before he chickened out, “So, I got drunk last night. You know that saying drunk words are sober thoughts?” (Y/N) nods thinking back to the text Hen had sent with the video just this morning. Buck continues, “Well, Eddie caught my drunk words on video last night and... well,” he pulls his phone out of his pocket, unlocks it and navigates to the video Eddie had sent before handing it to her, “Just watch it. Sober me 100% agrees with every word.” He looks at her with such scencerity on his face that it makes her heart skip a beat. The two sit in silence as she watches the video. Buck shifts nervously on his feet, scanning her face for her reaction and she smiles. His heart soars with hope that she feels the same way.
When the video ends, she hands his phone back to him before retrieving her own from her back pocket, unlocking it, navigating to her own video and then, “Drunk words are indeed sober thoughts and drunk me is pretty damn good at sharing things that sober me can’t. I too agree with every word she said,” she says, handing her phone to him. He watches with a massive grin on his face as one plasters itself on her’s as well. There’s not an ounce of fear or nervousness left in her after having seen his video. She thinks to herself that if she has the honor of marrying the man in front of her one day, it’s only right that Eddie be his Best Man and Hen be her Maid of Honor.
Once the video ends, Buck places her phone on the counter beside her and leans in close with a grin still on his face only now it has a slight hint of cockiness to it, “I guess the only thing to do now is ask you to be my girlfriend. So will you?”
As he hooks his finger under her chin and lifts it to align their lips, the distance between them shrinks even more. He can feel her breath on his lips when she affirms, “Obviously,” so he glances down at her lips before looking into her eyes. She inches closer, encouraging him to close the distance, and he does. They share the same thought as the slow, love filled kiss takes place and that is, “I love you.” When they begrudingly pull apart, and make eye contact, there’s no need to voice the thought as for one, their drunk selves already did but also, it’s seen in their eyes.
Buck pulls even further away before placing his hands on her hips. He leaves them there for a moment, observing her reaction and somewhat looking for a nudge to continue his movements. She tilts her head, “What?”
He says nothing at first, simply sliding his hands from her hips to place them on either side of the mirror on the wall behind her caging her in. He leans in close and brushes his nose against her’s, making her eyes flutter shut. When she opens them he’s just barely retreated, tilted his head, and is grinning from ear to ear. Feigning forgetfulness he asks, “What was that you said you wanted to do? It was something to do with my arms. Maybe you could remind me?”
A mishevious grin with a hint of shyness to it replaces the look of curiosity on her face but is quickly replaced with a false sense of innocence as she lays her head over on his right arm. She stays there for a moment reveling in the eye contact between his now sultry eyes and her own wide eyed innocent ones before turning her head slightly to nuzzle her mouth and nose against his arm. A breath catches in Buck’s throat as she suddenly opens her mouth to lay her tongue against his bicep, slowly dragging it up before recoiling it back behind her teeth that she uses to nip softly against the skin covering the toned muscle. The sound that left his throat is one that she will remember for years to come and want to elicit from him again many times over. However, she simply lays her head back against his arm with a teasing look on her face, “We should get back out there before they come looking and find us in a scandalous situation.”
Buck huffs, knowing she’s right and stands up straight removing his hands from the wall to help her down from the counter. (Y/N) quite likes it when he lifts her by her waist to place her feet on the ground and has to stop herself from wondering what it would be like for him to toss her into bed as he takes her hand in his. He doesn’t exit the bathroom just yet but instead tugs her close, hooks his finger under her chin once more to whisper against her lips, “Fine, but you’re sitting in my lap to cover the situation you’ve caused in my pants.” She giggles and nods before opening the door herself and tugging him along behind her.
All eyes are on the two love birds as they reenter the dining room causing blushes to creep onto both of their faces and Buck to discretely scoot just a little closer behind her in hopes of hiding the afforemention situation better. He takes his seat, promptly pulling her into his lap which makes everyone whoop and holler in excitement. Eddie passes Maddie a twenty dollar bill which provokes a confused look from both (Y/N) and Buck.
Maddie grins triumphantly, “I bet that the videos would be exchanged today. Eddie didn’t think you guys had it in you.”
Eddie rolls his eyes as Athena calms everyone down, “You two didn’t... in the bathroom did you,” raising her eyebrows to insinuate naughtier acts than just exchanging videos. (Y/N) and Buck shake their head no immediately to which Athena replies, “Good.”
The conversation soon returns to things other than the new couple at the end of the table. (Y/N) has an arm around Buck’s shoulders playing with his hair while his arm is wrapped firmly around her waist. His other hand is placed on her knee, even though he wants it to be higher, and he leans in to whisper in her ear, “You’ll have something in you if we can ever sneak away. I just didn’t bend you over in there out of respect.” (Y/N) slaps his chest with her free hand but Buck simply returns his attention to the group around the table and includes himself in the conversation. Under her, (Y/N) can still feel the situation and knows he’s not joking. She has to fight to keep from imaging what all they could get up to today.
