I remember when I was first introduced to meditation. Lying on the floor in my yoga class, thinking it was the biggest waste of time. Allowing my thoughts to run riot. They ran the show and it was because I wasn't yet at the place where I could see the value in my own company. I had to sabotage my stillness with thoughts. I didn't want to be with myself so I couldn't just be. It was an act of rebellion against loving myself. Solitude felt like my enemy, being alone with my thoughts, a nightmare, and yet one of the first things that allowed me to feel self-acceptance was meditation. The thing I resisted the most, was what I needed more than anything. Do you ever find time to sit in solitude? Right now it feels like there could be many moments to just be with yourself. To watch the world go by and let your thoughts float away...but are you allowing it to unfold? Or do you feel like you're trying to fill the void with business, Netflix and doing all the things? I invite you to pause. STOP. Resist the urge to fill your mind with more thoughts, let them pass on through. Be with yourself. If there’s discomfort lean into that and allow it. Let it pass and see what else shows up for you. Allowing something takes no effort - it’s just a change of your point of focus. You are already focusing on something, all the time. Humans are collectively conditioned to focus on resistance, or the path of the most effort, as in ‘no-pain, no-gain’ fashion. It ultimately didn’t work for me, so I found a different way. 🤩 I chose to focus from the “space” between the thoughts, and I found it’s the place that’s natural and effortless. That’s the default from which my life experience took a truly magical turn. If not that, then I am choosing only realities I want to experience.
