omg emma… your tags on alexis’s post are so genius… dirtbag daniel not ready to date a guy doesn’t notice his entire existence is dedicated to making max happy… max accidentally calling daniel “daniel” on the radio when he’s at mercedes… daniel making bitchy comments to the press?!
i think i genuinely might be dying over thinking about the contrast between daniel irl leaving for renault vs. engineer max leaving daniel for mercedes. (also for me, for this to work, u gotta role-reverse the ages as well and make max older daniel younger)
max finding himself stuck...at red bull. a deep intrinsic feeling inside him that he's got nowhere to go, rised as high as he thinks he can within the team, has attached himself to someone (daniel) who doesn't need him as much as max needs him (entirely false, daniel is half the driver he is because of max) and so takes a secret meeting with toto who has been trying to poach max ever since he first started climbing the ranks at red bull and making a name for himself. toto promising him everything in the world. and more. promises him he can be lewis' engineer and head of race engineering. promises him bonuses he's never heard of. promises that max can also help out with mercedes sim racing team in his spare time at the factory. and max thinks and thinks and thinks about it and if there's one thing max is, it's honest. so he tells christian. tells him bluntly and succinctly and christian throws so much at him but realistically max's mind is made up before he even sits down with toto.
and daniel overhearing a conversation he shouldn't and barging into max's private office furious with him, why are you leaving to work for the enemy kinda shit, are you trying to stab me in the back, what have i done to deserve this betrayal etc etc. daniel punches max's office wall and max knows then and there he's made the right decision. asks daniel to leave immediately. the second half of the season goes dreadful for them, max short with daniel on the radio, doesn't play up to his antics anymore, daniel being summoned to see the stewards every race for doing dumb shit he knows he shouldn't do. sky sports always cutting to shots of max rolling his eyes. but daniel still manages to scrape the championship and the red bull mechanics hold max and daniel aloft on their shoulders and spray them with champagne and max and daniel have their arms around each others shoulders and there is a fleeting moment where max looks at daniel, the brightness and happiness on his face and he realises this is why he does his job, this is why he should stay, but he pushes it down and down and down and down. daniel goes to perth. max goes to some tropical island somewhere.
(whilst in perth, daniel prints off the photo of him and max on rbr mechanic's shoulders and frames it. he puts it in his home office at first. but he doesn't spend enough time in there. he takes it out the frame and puts it on the fridge with a dutch flag magnet he has that max had gifted him after his first zandvoort win. but everytime someone came round they would look at it and ask why max would quit. he puts it back in the frame and puts it on his bedside table. it stays there)
and then they both turn up to testing. daniel in navy like always, max in a tight fitted white tommy hilfiger shirt (wHICH PERFECTLY ACCENTUATES HIS PUFFY PERKY FAT NIPPLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and daniel hates it hates it hates it hates it hates it. they ask each other how the winter break was and what they got up to but the conversation is stilted and wrong and they both leave it feeling devoid and empty. testing is testing and bahrain is bahrain. daniel and his new engineer miss a couple of points of key information and communication and its a bit of a shambles of a race but daniel still gets p2. stands below lewis on the podium. max to his immediate right-hand side. he stands tall and straight. head forward. listens to every single word of god save the king. doesn't shift slightly. listens and listens and listens. and then the trophys are handed out. he looks at it once. places it on the ground. looks at his shoes. remembers. remembers max. malaysia. bright red flushed eager and keen. stole daniel's shoe right out his hand. guzzled it down, no egging-on needed from daniel at all. the way they locked eyes afterwards. the blowjob in the club bathroom. the filthy sex they had later that evening. he looks up. oscar receives his trophy. the personnel shift and move and then he's gripping the neck of the champagne bottle hard, slamming it down on the podium, turning his back to lewis and oscar and spraying it all at max. max does the same, drenching daniel. he can see max's bright smile through the spray and daniel laughs, proper, shakes it and sprays him some more and when it's all gone, they stand, looking at each other, drenched, soaking, panting, breathless (MAXS WHITE TOMMY HILFIGER SHIRT DRIPPING WET SEE THROUGH PERKY PERKY PERKY HARD NIPPLES!!!!!!!!!) and christian horner is stood in the crowd head in hands knowing he's about to be faced with a dilemma.
and then YES "daniel 0.9 behind" and crofty picks up on it and makes some snarky comment about how red bull let max go so that he could infiltrate mercedes from the inside. daniel being sarcastic in the media when they ask him about max still calling him daniel and being like "well i obviously made an impression on him" or "its hard to forget me when i'm that good" and max hates the taunting but also loves it. gives him some sense that daniel still thinks about him also !!!
(late at night, daniel finds youtube videos of lewis' play by play race. he tells himself its to do with tactics and finding out lewis' racing lines etc. really he's listening to the radio. hearing the way max and lewis talk. trying to work out if they have the same relationship max and him have. if max uses the same intonation. the same phrases. if max flirts with lewis the way he did with daniel)

your oscar primer was absolutely brilliant, thank you so much for posting it!! well-researched, well-written, and a good balance of educational and hilarious. if you want to share, i’d be very interested in reading any of the parts you mentioned that you cut out, like george-admiring, oscar’s psyche, etc, but no pressure ofc 🫶
omg no thank you so much for your kind words, i appreciate it a lot!!! :D andddd let me see... honestly i was just going to add a few more quotes & anecdotes from other people about his personality but i ended up incorporating most of them into the primer (e.g. mark's), but in general i think it's really charming how Every Single Adult who has ever worked with oscar throughout the years is so deeply and immediately convinced of his maturity. i did work in most of this old ask but it has a few extra quotes in there from mclaren personnel! anyway more below the cut:
i guess really the thing to Me about oscar is like...... idk if this makes any sense but i personally love how he's naturally a really gracious and diplomatic person but is also deeeeeply self-assured and objective, which on one hand means he presents as quite humble when he doesn't make excuses for himself or get caught up in deceptively high results, but on the other also means he refuses to give anyone else credit for his own success; if you remember me briefly mentioning prematax in that post he talks about it in the f1fs pod where he basically goes i didn't win because of PREMA, in fact i've NEVER LOST TO A TEAMMATE, SO. like any racing driver that is def a big source of pride for him, and i think it speaks to the "silent killer" (per lando) side to him, the guy who mark says "falls asleep" when hearing stories of his (championless) career, who said that he supported mark out of national obligation growing up but—let us not forget—vettel was the one winning everything back then anyway, who says he put even more pressure on himself to win his final race in f2 despite having clinched the title 2 races prior because he felt the innate urge to prove that he wouldn't simply ease off the gas pedal and still had it in himself to subjugate the field one last time.
along these lines oomf and i have discussed before how he and alex rank similarly on the kind/nice dichotomy in a way that is slightly diametric to lando, wherein he is always willing to offer tidy bits of sympathy for someone else's struggles but doesn't ever really envision any of them as relevant to his own experiences, because getting caught up in that "external noise" would be a waste of time (even with logan in the f3 finale it was honestly kind of like "aw man that sucks, i'd hate for it to be me... ANYWAY"). like not to maybe exaggerate his interiority but i enjoy that he carries an amount of hidden tension that he obviously consciously decides to not take reactionary measures over—though that doesn't mean it isn't there, it's just very well regulated (unrelated but he does actually work with mental coach emma murray, who also works with scott mclaughlin and whom he says helped him center himself at the end of his eurocup season). but he's still very... unfiltered about when he's been disrespected in an unperturbed, straightforward manner, like saying otmar confronting him on the sim over being promoted to the seat was "bizarre and frankly upsetting," the face he made when he was told they'd overtaken alpine in the standings in 2023, telling the kids in that hp tuners interview that the renault engineers treated his first f1 test too nonchalantly, etc. 😭 like every interview back when he was a reserve driver was soooo "i'm gracious about being stuck in this role but also i've proven myself way too much to Not Hate This Compromise and i'll be pissed as hell if i don't get a seat next year"... i'll stop here but basically he is truly a master of balancing gritted-teeth conviction with his tactical charm and it is one of my fav things ever about him!!!
also another quote i love is this one from david sera about his driving style, because 1) i love the correlation between it and his personality/calmness, 2) i'm obsessed with the dynamic of his early rc days helping nurture a style of "finesse" in his driving throughout his junior career that may not have appeared naturally if he'd only begun racing in karting (and subsequently how he had to learn to not get "muscled around" after moving to europe), and 3) of course as a noted jb22 appreciator i love when people note similarities in his inputs to jb because it is delicious to ME:
Coming from a remote control car background where concentration, finesse and smooth inputs, these were the traits we saw in Oscar in the cadet category. [...] You would often see other drivers have an advantage in the early part of the race, driving more aggressively, but Oscar had a more calm approach.
c__c but back to the first part of the ask and our good friend russell jorge, i'm mostly obsessed with oscar's reactions to his performance at the rollercoaster that was spa 2021 and the fact that he's been so vocally appreciate of george "outperforming" the car he was in. the 2 instances of the word HERO on his twitter:
Tumblr media
and then this quote in an interview he did in 2022:
"[Success] is definitely not just defined by just world championships, and if you can outperform the car that you're in—I think George Russell has been a very fine example of that in years previous, you know, constantly getting the most out of that Williams and of course Spa. (laughs) Bit controversial, but he got a podium at the end of the day! And even without that, he qualified second, he outqualified everyone except Max in a Williams, which, you know, is an unbelievable result."
also george being the only f1 driver (i think) to tweet him for his f2 title
Tumblr media
AND ALSO THEM SHARING THE ANECDOTE OF THEIR AWKWARD FIRST MEETING ON THE FAST & CURIOUS POD??? aka oscar was told in his april 2023 ep that they were going to interview george next and he was like oh ok you can ask him about our "slightly left-field introduction," and then they had george on who was like oh yeah i met oscar for the first time washing our hands together in the bathroom on our way to the ausgp in 2020 😭 what a way to meet.

You Belong With Me - DR3 x fem!OC
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Summary: Em’s settling into working with the boys full time, and Renault are treating her with respect so it’s a good time. Even though women want to flirt with Dan, he goes back with her every night. Maybe they do belong with each other after all.
Word Count: 6k
Warnings: Smut (oral sex (f&m receiving), handjobs, fingering, piv sex, not exactly private sex), mentions of alcohol.
A/N: Another race week, another full chapter about these two! Hopefully this is a little more interesting than Baku was. As always, if you’ve got questions or comments let us know, and thank you for loving our Emmy the same way we love her.
October 2019
They’d arrived in Austin from Mexico early on Monday morning, the four of them half stumbling off the plane and being met at arrivals by Scotty. It wasn’t a long flight, but the five am takeoff meant it was before two when they got out of bed. Could they have booked later? Probably, but Dan wanted as much time as possible in Austin and Em wasn’t going to argue about it. They made their way to the hotel and checked in, everyone going to bed for a couple of hours before getting up and meeting for lunch. Em spent half the time they were supposed to be sleeping curled up in Dan’s arms, trading lazy kisses in between naps.
The decision was made to head out that night to Dan’s favourite bar. Monday was chilled out, it was Halloween that week so any other day would be busier, and they didn’t want to deal with loads of people. It involved dirt cheap drinks and good country music. Plus a dance floor that Em knew she’d insist she wasn’t going to get on before Dan pulled her onto it. And then if she played her cards right he’d pull her into a corner to make out before anyone could see them. Just because their friends knew they slept together now didn’t mean they wanted to share all the things they did.
Unusually for a weeknight the bar was busy, a bachelorette party on one side of the bar and a couple of birthday parties there. They’d managed to grab a booth for their first couple of drinks while they teased Scotty about being a Red Bull athlete and sitting in the Racing Point garage that weekend with his girlfriend. It didn’t take long for people to start saying they wanted to dance. Blake insisted he was staying there to keep the table, Em saying she’d do the same. But before long Dan had grabbed her hand and pulled her out to dance to the bluegrass that was playing. They moved to the music, Em letting go of her nerves being in the large crowd.
Everyone was dressed for the occasion in cowboy boots and denim. She had the pearlescent pink boots that Dan had bought her the year before with a matching hat on her head, denim shorts and one of Dan’s flannels over a white tank top. She was cosy and comfy and happy being there with Dan until she could feel eyes staring in the back of her head. The way they went from her to Dan and back again. It was like a sixth sense how she could tell the girl staring at them from across the room. Her outfit looked like it came straight from 2007 Taylor Swift, long blonde hair and legs for days. Her cowboy boots were heeled and black, wearing a white handkerchief dress and a black cowboy hat on her head. Em couldn’t fight against that. She was Emma from Liverpool who’d just started working for Blake and Michael, she wasn’t any better than the beautiful personification of cowgirl Barbie. She could deal with that, she’d go back to her hotel room alone when Dan decided to leave.
But she wasn’t giving up without a fight. The girl was looking at Daniel with a smile on her face and Em decided to do what usually worked for her. She put a hand around Dan’s bicep and pulled, pointing to the bar and he followed. His hands went around her waist, one of her hands on top of his as they made their way across. Usually that stopped girls who were coming to flirt with Dan, but this time it was useless. Even Dan’s arm around her as they stood at the bar did nothing. It was like Em was completely invisible, the blonde taking advantage of them stuck in the same place to stand beside Dan and begin to flirt and all she could do was wait and listen.
“Hey, what’s your name?” Em watched from the corner of her eye as Dan let go of her and turned. She knew him so well, how flirty he was, how kind he was. How he always made people feel like they were the only person he’d ever spoken to.
“I’m Dan, and you?” He was pulling out his politeness, the way he was around sponsors and people he was meeting through work. He always took his time and asked questions and spoke carefully to them. He was raised to be a gentleman - he always was with Em, and usually was with most people - and it was clear to her he was only doing it out of politeness. It meant that she felt more comfortable ducking under his arm, holding on tightly. The clueless look on his face would have been the most adorable thing in the world to her if it wasn’t for how awkward the entire situation was.
“Amber-Lynn. It’s so good to see ya. Do y’all come here often?
“First time here.” Dan raised his eyebrows, the signal that he had no idea what was actually going on. It made her smile anyway because they just wanted their drinks and to get away. Really though, it meant that he just wanted this to be over so they could go sit back down. Get away from Amber-Lynn and spend time together.
It was a total lie that they’d never been there. Dan had discovered it his first year racing in Austin and went every year. He’d dragged her to it nearly as soon as they’d made it to Austin the year before, it was where after his DNF they’d come up with the sex ban to see if she was his bad luck charm.
She didn’t blame Amber-Lynn for flirting with Dan, she had to stop herself from drooling every time she spent time around Dan. He joked about his curls getting the girls and he wasn’t wrong bout it. He was handsome, he knew it, and Em was absolutely crazy about every single part of him. From his big smile to his nose and jaw to his tattoos to his gorgeous tanned skin to his big beautiful neck and the way she just wanted to mark it all up she loved all of him. If it was a different situation she would have tried flirting with him the second she saw him in a bar - she had flirted with him in a bar the week after they’d agreed they weren’t going to sleep together again - but she never would have done it if there was another woman holding his arm and leaning into him. Not when the guy she wanted to flirt with was holding another woman with his arm around her hip.
To everyone else it was just friends when they’d been standing against the wall. None of them realised that his hand wasn’t in the small of her back, but his fingers were inside the dark denim back pocket, cupping the swell of her ass. Nobody got to see how his fingers bounced against her, how his thumb rubbed slow circles just under her waistband to torture her. Part of it was how he kept her grounded and stopped her anxiety when so many people were around and it was a busy place, but it was also a guaranteed way to turn her into a needy mess and ruin the underwear she was wearing. The only times he took his hand away was when they were on the dance floor or going to get drinks at the bar, but then they went back to their old habits. She hated to admit that she loved it, but it was the truth. It was just another way that Dan made it clear he was right there with her.
Once their glasses were finally in front of them they went to leave, heading back to the table Blake was at. But Amber-Lynn followed, trying to get Dan’s number. Em was completely tongue tied at the sight, shocked that even when Dan gave a no she came out with offering her own. This was a new kind of ridiculousness that she had never seen before. She knew girls flirted with Dan, knew they came offering all kinds of promises and to make his dreams come true. But she never saw it so she never got jealous about it before. Generally in the paddock the rumours about her and Dan were enough to keep people away whenever the two of them were together, and it helped.
“No, thank you,” Dan said and he tried turning away but they weren’t fast enough before the blonde spoke again.
“You sure? I can make it worth your while.”
Dan’s jaw dropped and Em just watched his reaction for a moment. He didn’t give a response, instead he turned and pressed a kiss to Em’s lips, deepening it for just a moment before pecking them again and turning back. Amber-Lynn stared for a second before flouncing off and Em leaned against him.
“Did anyone see?” She asked, Dan shaking his head.
“We were behind the pillar, we’re good. A couple of hours and we can go back to the hotel?”
“Sounds nice.”
“You know I only want you, right?” He asked her and Em nodded before they went back to the table.
She slid into the bench after Dan, his hand going straight back to her pocket and rubbing those circles against her hip and upper ass. They chatted with Blake, taking sips of their drinks before Scotty came over with his girlfriend and a tray of shots to share with everyone. It was the first time Em had properly spent time with Chloe, laughing with the other woman and chatting even as she just wanted to leave. The bar was busier than expected, it was noisy, there was too much going on. She started leaning against Dan, her arms around his waist and her head on his shoulder in their universal sign of “I want to go home”. She wasn’t at the press a kiss to his jaw stage yet, but it was coming soon
Everyone always watched as they acted like that, their little ways of communicating so different to the rest of their friends. They could have conversations without words, the two of them communicating through a smile or a raised eyebrow. Even a hand squeeze could mean a million things but they always knew the right one. Michael and Blake thought it was fascinating to watch. Em didn’t fully understand it herself, but she and Dan just knew each other on that level where nothing else mattered.
“Wanna go back to the hotel?” Dan whispered into her ear, Em nodding but trying not to do it too quickly. She was tired and tipsy, and she knew in about twenty minutes she was going to go from being too clingy to being jealous. All she wanted was to be back in their hotel room in Dan’s arms. The blonde’s face was still stuck in her head, the surprise and delight that Dan was going home with Em herself and not a girl throwing herself into his arms. She couldn’t get the image of Amber-Lynn staring at Dan, at the man Emma loved more than anyone in the world, as if she owned him and Em was nothing but a bug on her shoe. But instead it was the opposite, they said goodbye to everyone and walked out, Dan taking her hand as soon as they were outside. He was getting them an Uber and she just buried her face in his chest as he kissed the top of her head.
Even in the car they stayed holding hands, the surreal nature of the situation fully hitting Em there. Dan could have gone back with anyone else that night, but instead she was the one going with him. She didn’t know how she’d become just so lucky. They were going back to the fancy hotel room that Renault had booked, and Dan was going to fuck her brains out because that’s what he always did when he was this clingy as they went back to wherever they were spending that night. It was a beautiful thing in a city she’d grown fond of.
They’d barely made it into the elevator when Dan’s hands were pulling her close, deep kisses as they went to their floor. She was smiling through them, watching Dan’s lust blown eyes stare deeply at her, his lips perking up in a smile.
“You look so fucking pretty,” he murmured in between kisses, only stopping as the doors opened. Em’s hand was wrapped in Dan’s larger one as they half walked, half stumbled to the door. She managed to wave her keycard in front of it and get the door open, laughing at Dan’s movements.
Once the door was closed she was pinned against it. One of Dan’s hands was at her neck, thumb stretching to press against her lips. Em opened her mouth and began to lick softly at the digit. Revelling in the groan Dan let out she pushed against him. Her legs were held apart and need began to run through her as his free hand crept under the tank top she was wearing, pushing the front of it over her head and around her shoulders.
“Danny, don’t tease me. Please, Babe,” she groaned out as the familiar fingers traced the cup of her bra.
“That’s what you were doing all evening. Being so cute. I bet you’re soaked, right?” He let go of her neck to open her shorts, his thumb leaving her mouth with an obscene pop. It took no time at all for two long digits to get inside her underwear and make Em groan. “Let me hear you. You don’t need to be quiet here, promise.”
She couldn’t stop her hips from moving without her realising, pushing against nothing in an attempt to find friction. She felt one finger enter her before the second one joined it, her groan muffled by his shirt. Dan knew every single way to make her body fall apart, keeping her steady as the sound of her wetness pulling him in filled the room.
“More, please?” She asked without realising, a grin on his face as he realised.
“Your clit?” A nod the only response as his lips latched onto her upper chest. Em knew she was a debauched mess, shorts and underwear pulled down around her thighs, tank top up and half over her head. The awkward way it was wrapped around her arms made her tits stick out and Dan took full advantage of his access without her hands able to fist his hair.
Her orgasm grew in her belly, pants and groans mixed with Dan’s non stop pressure. Her head fell back against the door as she opened her mouth in a soundless scream. Pleasure went through every cell in her body, if it wasn’t for Dan holding her up she’d have fallen from the force of it. Once he coaxed her through it he carefully pulled his fingers out and licked them clean of her.
“I told you. I only want you.” She pulled him for a kiss, her boobs pushing against his still clothed torso but she didn’t care. He was there and Dan always did this and always made sure she was happy and satisfied when they had sex. This time she pulled him back towards the bed. She pushed his shirt off and they pulled the others pants down, Dan sitting on the bed and pulling Em into his lap.
“Wanna watch you ride me. Will you do that Baby girl?” Em was unable to deny him anything when he looked like that. She leaned down to take him into her mouth for the shortest few moments, pressing kisses and licks up his dick to make sure he was fully hard. She didn’t actually need to, but she couldn’t resist it purely for the little moan Dan always let out. She crawled up his thighs, her arms around his neck as he slid into her. It was perfect and took her breath away like every single time.
“Missed this,” Em moaned as she took his earlobe between her teeth and nibbled lightly.
“It’s been two days, Baby. You feel so good. So, so good for me. My best girl right here who takes me so well.” His dirty talk continued but Em barely heard it as she was lost in sensation. Her lips moved and pushed kisses up and down his jaw. She wanted to lean in and suck a mark, make him hers, but she stayed away. Dan’s fingers dug into her hips and helped her keep her pace, bouncing up and down in his lap. She let out random noises without meaning to, Dan tightening his grip on her when she did.
“You always make that noise whenever you’re close. Such a cute little squeak from my cute girl. I love hearing it from you Baby.” She pushed faster, her fingers on her clit as Dan kept going. She couldn’t tell when her orgasm hit but she knew Dan’s wasn’t far behind. His hips stuttered against hers as he came, pulling her tight against him. They both fell back against the bed as they realised where they were and what they were doing. Kisses were pushed to her head and she smiled, holding on for a moment before she knew she had to let go and clean up.
But Dan let go of her first, going into the bathroom. A moment later he was back, helping Em off the bed and kissing her cheek. There was a towel and warm water for her to clean up. On the bathroom counter was one of the merch prototypes for her to sleep in. When she got back to the bed she was slightly tipsy and warm and cosy, Dan pulling her in for a final kiss before they were going to sleep.
Tuesday was the second day of her fake weekend so she spent it wandering Austin. There was the offer of a rental car from Renault, but she turned it down in favour of using Uber or buses to really get to grips with the city. There was a store offering custom denim and she decided to go in for a look at it. Instead of just looking, she bought four pairs of jeans that were made to measure for her. The fabric felt good against her skin, and the staff were lovely. Part of her was terrified to spend so much money on clothes. She was a Primark girl at heart even though the bag on her arm was thousands of pounds. Dan had insisted that she got paid a large amount of money because of the work she was doing after their conversation in Russia, and he’d insisted on back pay for her too. Her bank account was healthier than it had been in years.
But she was photographed on a regular basis now, and while Renault let her wear team gear for work she still had eyes on her. People had commented when she wore the same pair of vans to work for a full weekend. This way she could have comfy jeans that worked well for her. She picked up a denim jacket too, and the tailor promised that they’d not only have the clothes ready for her by Friday, but they’d get delivered to COTA to make sure she got them.
“Are you sure? I can try come back in, I think we’re in Austin till Monday,” Em said as her offer was waved away.
“It’s fine. Do you have an office for me to say it’s for?”
“Say it’s for Daniel Ricciardo, care of Emma Smyth. That way it’ll get to me.”
“Of course. And if you need anything let me know.”
She got texts from Dan while she was sitting in a Starbucks. He was working out with Michael before doing interviews for Renault about his new teammate, and she just replied with photos of her drinks. The photo of the barbecue she was eating got a “EMMMMYYYYYY” in response, but she put her phone down and enjoyed it. Smoked chicken, mac and cheese, and a garlic dill pickle were perfect. It was even nicer that none of it was mixed together so she could really enjoy it. From there she walked through the UT campus and found a bench to sit and read on. The last thing on her day off was a trip to Lyndon B Johnson presidential library. It was full of history and fashion and things that happened in the 60s in the US and she loved every minute of it.
Dinner that night was the six of them - her and Dan with Blake, Michael, Scotty, and Chloe. From Thursday Chloe was in the Racing Point garage with her brother which meant they would barely see each other. She was someone Em could see herself being friends with long term and they swapped phone numbers over plates of food. Neither woman spotted the slightly widened eyes that Scotty and Dan gave each other at the rapidly forming friendship. If they had, the response would have just been laughter. It was a good night to have before the chaos of COTA and the US Grand Prix began the following morning.
And begin it did. Her alarm went off at six, Em rolling out of Dan’s arms grumbling. He was getting up too to work out, and when he got back she was showered and changed. Her foundation was nearly finished and she frowned, trying to get the last out of the bottle. She should have gone to Sephora the day before.
“Everything ok?” Dan asked and she held up the almost empty Rimmel tube for him to see. Less than a minute later there was a glass bottle sitting in front of her and Em looked up at him.
“I bought a new party shirt. Figured you could do with new foundation, the sales assistant helped me pick your shade.”
“Danny…” She trailed off looking at the bottle. Accepting something like this felt too much. He was constantly buying her bags or shoes or accessories and it always felt strange to take them.
“Consider it for work. You need new foundation, we’re getting photographed today. It’s the UT stuff before a load of sponsor stuff, right? With my helmet launch?”
“Yeah, it is.” She accepted the work excuse and decided to go with it, opening the bottle and pumping out some of the liquid. He’d gotten her shade perfect, Em spreading the liquid on her skin and patting it in. The rest of her makeup didn’t take long and she was ready to go by the time Dan was showered and changed. His curls looked perfect and she couldn’t help but steal a kiss from him before they left the room.
UT was busy. The deal had been that Dan was showing how much of a football fan he was with a Longhorns inspired helmet, looking almost exactly like a football one. Em was there in the background as his assistant, iPad in her arms as she tracked what they were doing. Dan was in his element while he showed off for the students. The cheerleaders were doing a performance that she watched and Em started feeling self conscious around them.
It was stupid. She was nearly thirty, of course she didn’t look like a teenager. But the night in the bar had started her insecurities going wild and this was nearly as bad again. Just the idea that she and Dan wouldn’t have the same kind of time together. It was weird and kind of hurt and she stood as in the background as her black and yellow shirt would let her.
“You ok?” Dan asked as he came over and she nodded her head.
“Never better Danny. Just tired.”
“Y’know, right? It’s you and me.” He reached out to squeeze her hand and she squeezed back to let his words wash over her.
“I know. You know too?”
“Always, Emmy.”
The next two days just felt like constant work and she was thriving on it. Race weekends had a carefully constructed schedule down to the minute and she knew exactly what she was doing. It was standing in the background watching interviews happen, or running between Renault and the FIA if something was needed. Officially she shouldn’t have, but when Cyril mentioned he needed someone to do something she volunteered when there was time. Everyone had to pitch in together and she was happy to.
During FP2 someone found her in hospitality, depositing a parcel for her. It was her jeans and she grinned before wrapping them back up to bring with her to the hotel. It was constantly running doing things, making sure that the weekend was kept on track for them. Em barely remembered what she was doing between sleeping and back to the track. Her usual broken race weekend sleep continued, but it was a little bit easier than usual. Maybe it was Austin or maybe it was the good mood in the Renault camp but it was everything for her.
It was getting ready for the race when Dan noticed her jeans. Em could feel him eyeing her up from across the hotel room as she slipped her feet back into her cowboy boots. Instead of her traditional Renault gear she’d put a Longhorns jersey on, Dan grinning and pressing a kiss to where her neck and shoulder met.
“Are you sure we have something to do today? We can totally stay here,” he murmured but Em turned around to look at him.
“You have a race, mister. A race where I’m so confident you’re going to get good points today.”
“Oh really? How confident?” A raised eyebrow made Em feel brave.
“Blowjob confident, Baby. Finish above ninth and I’ll give you one the second we’re alone.” Dan squeezed her, pulling her in for a kiss before they had to go be professional and get their shit done. But they squeezed hands before leaving the room, Em’s iPad and schedule firmly in the Kate Spade tote bag she loved. It was the first one Dan had bought her that she accepted from him because it wasn’t too expensive and it fit everything she needed for a busy race day. It didn’t take long for him to get her others, but she still came back to the original one.
The morning of the race was always weird for her. She met Chloe for breakfast in the paddock, feeling awkward sitting in Racing Point hospitality even though she knew it was ok for her to be there. Chloe’s dad introduced himself too, and Em waved at Lance when he spotted her there. She didn’t know the younger Canadian well, but she knew he was friends with Dan’s teammate for next year and Dan got along with him. It was more than enough for her to like him.
Before long it was back to the garage, her earplugs in before she slipped her well used headphones on over them. Em stood beside Blake while everyone went on the grid. Technically her pass let her onto the grid, but she never did it. She’d rather stay there and know she was where she belonged than risk making a mistake. So she watched as everyone started coming in and the formation lap happened, and the Sky F1 commentary was piped into her ears with lights out and away we go.
Every single race meant she worried about Dan. She worried about going into turn one, about racing incidents, about something just breaking mid race. But she watched as he kept going and pushing forward, careful overtakes and following strategy. She stayed there in her spot for the entire 56 laps, eyes on the yellow dot on the map that marked Dan’s car. As long as she lived the adrenaline would never stop, the worry she felt watching him slip into the car. She couldn’t imagine watching him getting into one without the halo on, but she knew he was more used to driving without it than with it.
The final lap her heart was in her throat as Lando seemed to catch up, but Dan managed to get through the chequered flag in sixth. The garage was cheering and she grabbed Blake into a hug as they celebrated. It had been such a hard couple of weeks with races and this was huge. Both drivers in the points, Renault as good as assured fifth in the constructors unless something huge happened. Considering how the season had begun it was good news. Dan grabbed them both in for a hug when he got back after doing his media round, slipping behind a stack of tyres to kiss Em in celebration. Usually she’d refuse, but she couldn’t help kiss him back quickly before he went for a debrief.
The plan was set, they were heading out to a bar Dan knew about for drinks, Scotty declining his and Chloe’s invitation to spend time with her family. While Dan was debriefing Em agreed to pack up Dan’s bag from his driver’s room. She’d gotten everything together and was sitting on the massage table, legs swinging from the height as she waited. Could she head downstairs? Sure. But Dan had completed his end of the bet, she wasn’t going to make him lose out on it.
“Ready to go? I figured we can head out and shower in the hotel before barbecue and drinks.” Dan grinned seeing her, his hands on either side of her hips as he kissed her.
“Nearly. I believe I promised something the second we’re alone.”
“I figured the hotel.”
“Nope.” Em reached up to kiss him before pushing Dan away slightly, sipping off the table and getting onto her knees. His hands moved to the side of her head as Em stared up with wide eyes and puckered lips. Her hands were quick to undo his jeans and pull them and his briefs down so she could pull him out. Dan was half hard without her touching him but once she began kissing up and down his shaft and moving her hand before she began working him fully.
She didn’t know how long she knelt there, head bobbing up and down with Dan’s hands in her hair as he murmured praises to her. Before Dan she’d hated going down on anyone, but the constant praise and support from him meant it had become easy now. She hummed the way she knew made him go insane, feeling him against her throat as his hips thrust shallowly.
“Fuck, Emmy, Baby, I’m gonna cum,” It was a strangled groan as Dan did, Em not moving away until he was finished. She pulled off as he half sagged against the massage table. He helped pull her up from the hard linoleum floor and pulled her in for a hug. Dan leaned in to kiss her as she went to move away, putting himself back together with his free hand.
“Congrats on sixth, Danny.” She grinned and he dove in for a kiss, tasting and holding her closely.
“You’re amazing, you know that right? Like you didn’t need to do that.”
“I wanted to.” They stayed like that making out until a knock on the door disturbed them.
“You two nearly ready? People are starting to wonder where the fuck Dan is!” It was Blake, and Em blushed while she leaned her head against Dan’s chest.
“Yeah Em was filling me in on the off week stuff! We’ll be out in a few.” He looked at her and had a soft smile, pressing another kiss to her forehead. “I swear if we didn’t need to get out of here I’d have you across that table right now. But that’d take at least an hour and we don’t have time for that.”
“Smooth, Ricciardo. Smooth.” She checked herself in the mirror before picking up her bag and making sure she was presentable to leave.
“I try. New jeans?”
“I found a place that does custom denim. Was it a good idea?”
“My emotional support ass looks excellent in them.” She laughed but Dan pulled her back before letting them leave. “You always look good. Do they feel good?”
“They’re soft. Even the seams feel good.”
“It’s what you deserve, Emmy. We can go into it tomorrow to take a look?”
It was a squeeze of her hand before they left, Em slightly ahead of Dan so he could watch her ass move in the dark denim. Talking to everyone was fun, the travelling staff planning on going to the hotel bar for drinks and food before the early flight in the morning. Instead she was heading back to the UK with the boys on Tuesday morning. It was a wave and a promise to talk to people in the factory next time she was in Enstone as she left with everyone.
They stopped at the hotel to change before food, the four of them sitting around a table at a barbecue restaurant with food placed in front of them. All of the sides came in giant baskets to be split between them, but Em’s brisket came on its own plate so she could have that at least. She was happy enough with that, but a few moments later a plate was put in front of her with fries and broccoli just for her. A glance at Dan told her everything she needed to know about the reason she had it.
The bar choice that night was a random place advertising line dancing that they ended up in, a couple of other drivers arriving too. Charles came to their booth with Pierre, the two speaking in French while Em held on a little with them.
“Anglais? Ma français n’est pas bien mais je suis bourré.” She got the words out to make Charles laugh, Pierre surprised at her language skills.
“Je te l’ai dit! Elle dit français. Sorry, Ems, we’ll stick to English. Pear didn’t think you actually spoke French.”
“E tu aiuti l’Italiano! But no, that’s my language skills. How’re you boys doing? Is this as fun as Vegas for you Charles?”
“Eh.” Pierre wriggled his hand and Charles shook his head, so she decided the best thing to do was get a tray of shots for the table. Was it healthy? No. But she knew secondhand what the Red Bull pressure was like and had seen how this year had been for him. If she could make it a little easier she would for the Frenchman.
It wasn’t long until Dan came over to her, pressing kisses to her cheek and holding her tight. She leaned against him and missed his first question until he spoke again.
“Wanna go back, Babe? I think I owe you.” She flushed but the dark of the bar stopped it from being obvious as she said her goodbyes, the two of them leaving to get a cab back to the hotel. Dan’s hands barely left her for the entire trip, and as soon as they made it to the hotel room he had her up on the desk as he got to his knees for one of his favourite things.
After they were both completely satisfied and ready for bed they were curled up, Dan’s arms around her as her head lay on his chest.
“I really like Austin,” Em whispered lowly to not break the calm of the night. “Last year I kind of hated it here after your DNF. But I like the city now I’ve spent time here. You spend more time in LA than here though, right?”
“Yeah. Austin’s great though. I keep thinking I should be here more. Maybe we could go on holiday?”
“That’d be nice. It’s the kind of place I could see bringing our kids. I think they’d like somewhere like this.” Her words slurred as sleep pulled her under, but Dan stayed awake for another half hour running her words through his head. Kids with Emmy? He’d never seen a future with a specific woman in his life. But he could see it with her.

thank you to the wonderful @fandomchaosposts for tagging me!! this looked like lots of fun and honesty a great excuse to talk about all the things I've been loving recently :)
last movie: love actually <333 one of my top 3 Christmas films makes me cry every year (also like hello how did they hire so many attractive people we have kiera Knightly, Hugh grant, Emma Thompson AND Colin firth??!?!)
last song: all you wanna do - from the Six soundtrack, I'm still so hyped after seeing it live and can't stop listening to the songs, also in a slightly worrying turn of events I do find this song quite relatable and lets not unpack that today
currently reading: The Persian Boy - Mary Renault (alternate retelling of the story of Alexander The Great's life from the perspective of his slave lover) and Redline by @chubbydino - as soon as I got kindle unlimited I got myself a copy and I have to say I'm having wayyyyyy too much fun reading it, it's reminiscent of fools gold but also so distinctly its own book!!
currently watching: I'm in the middle of hundreds of shows but I'd say I'm somewhat actively watching friends, criminal minds and a random cult documentary on Netflix I can't remember the name
currently consuming: nothing
Currently craving: coffee coffee coffee!! I just woke up so I'm in my natural pre coffee sleepy state
Anyways, I had lots of fun doing this! I'm going to tag a few people if they want to have a go but no pressure :) @love4lando @sof1shticated @bi-peanut @lil-italian-disappointment (and anyone else who feels like it!)

Hi! I saw your post around here where you mentioned Ali Hazelwood, and I've been devouring her stories lately. Since I trust your judgment more than my own (that A level in literature really shows), I was wondering if you could recommend other stories you might have enjoyed? They don't have to be in a STEM setting, nor necessarily romances (although those are very welcome). Thank you so much <3
Hello! Yes of course!!
For books that remind me of ‘One Day’ (and therefore encapsulate the vibe I was going for in this fic). Heavy on themes of intimate relationships between two people, nostalgia, time and growing up.
‘This Time Tomorrow’ by Emma Straub: gorgeous insight into getting older and a push for change, explores the relationship between a father and daughter beautifully
‘Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow’ by Gabrielle Zevin: masterful characters and structure. Two friends work as video game designers. The publisher’s tagline is brilliant: ‘It’s not a romance, but it is about love.’
‘Amy & Isabelle’ by Elizabeth Strout: one of those books I know I’ll appreciate even more when I get older. Mother and daughter relationship: if you resonated by Greta Gerwig’s ‘Ladybird’, you’ll love this one.
‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’ by Audrey Niffenegger: It’s famous for a reason. The most original love story I’ve ever read and with such genius and tender plotting that demands rereading.
‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney: melancholic and bittersweet (aka it was the ‘One Day’ that I didn’t like quite as much as ‘One Day’ but also guys it’s a good book c’mon let’s be fr here)
Romances I’ve enjoyed (these are probably very popular but there are so many shite ones that I’ll vouch for these):
Ali Hazelwood books. I am so adamant that this woman is an absolute legend and her books only get better. Loved her most recent (‘Love, Theoretically’), it’s too fun.
‘Book Lovers’ by Emily Henry. Emily Henry loml.
‘Love and Other Words’ by Christina Lauren: ICONIC friends-to-lovers
For STEM-y books I enjoyed, I liked:
‘Lessons in Chemistry’ by Bonnie Garmus: the main character is absolutely brilliant and I’m the world’s most devout feminist so of course I devoured this book. (Although constantly calling table salt NaCl did annoy me juuust a little. Yes salt is primarily composed of sodium chloride but it’s not purified so calling it NaCl is just a bit silly)
‘The Code Breaker’ by Walter Isaacson: non-fiction (gasp!) but I find CRISPR so interesting. Biography about Jennifer Doudna, the Nobel Prize winner who essentially transformed the world of genetic engineering.
Miscellaneous books I’ve enjoyed:
‘Tender is the Flesh’ by Agustina Bazterrica: chilling dystopia, excellent narration from perspective character, so disgusting and gory
‘Fingersmith’ by Sarah Waters: not usually a fan of historical fiction but Sarah Waters is the loml, brilliant plotting, crime fiction
‘Vladimir’ by Julia May Jones: devoured it in a day. Dark and sensual, with such a sharply-characterised perspective character.
‘The Charioteer’ by Mary Renault: one of the first books to write an unapologetically positive portrayal of homosexuality. Essential reading for any lgbt+ person who likes reading, imo: stands on the same level as ‘Giovanni’s Room’ or… literally any Sarah Waters novel. I read it for background research on a far-off WW2 fic I want to write but ended up loving it. Really sweet.
Huzzah I hope this is up to scratch <3

EPISODE 9 - POINT OF VIEW (OR, WHO IN THE WORLD EVER IS RELIABLE?)
In this episode, Lani (@copper-dust) and Jo (@pebblysand)discuss point of view, a topic which was requested by one of our listeners, @turanga4. They explore the different types of point of view that exist in narration, the choices writers make in deciding to tell stories from a particular perspective, and debate the dreaded concept of head-hopping. They also touch on the sensitive subject of second-person narration, and question whether reliable narrators really even exist. You can listen to the episode here:
This week, we mention:
Then we came to the end by Joshua Ferris - a novel told in first-person plural
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Merry Men by @copper-dust - stories where the point-of-view character is not the focal character
Lolita by Vladimir Nobokov - example of a story told from the point of view of a very unreliable and unlikable narrator (please, check trigger-warnings/the topic of this book prior to reading it)
the fault in faulty manufacturing & ce ne sont que des cailloux by @pebblysand -  examples of an unreliable narrators, and of works where language and narration is affected by the identity and vocabulary of the narrator
Life of Pi by Yann Martel & Room by Emma Donoghue - examples of how a different point of view can change a story
Your recommendations for this week are:
Troy by Stephen Fry
The Alexander Trilogy by Mary Renault
He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly (tw: sexual assault) or anything else by Erin Kelly
Ghostwritten by David Mitchell
You can find us online at:

I wish you would write a fic where... Timeless and 1899 crossover, Lucy and Garcia on the ship and someone knows right away they don't belong...
(Send me an anymous (or not) summary of the fic you wish I would write. (maybe I will write a tidbit))
oh. oh MAN. I have too many ideas. Garcia Flynn and Eyk Larsen could get into one hell of a depressed widower contest and I think between Flynn and Lucy, they could cover about 60% of the spoken languages on the Kerberos. That said. Neither of those things happen here.
It had been convenient, Lucy Preston thought drowsily, hiding the Mothership in the half-empty cargo holds of the Kerberos – easier than the Titanic had been, just last year. Then, they’d scratched the famous Renault, but, well – it was still rusting away at the bottom of the Atlantic – or would be, in thirteen years. Time travel did funny things to your ability to sort out timelines and tenses –
“Lucy –?”
She groaned, and curled up more tightly on herself in the bed; she won’t get up now, she told herself. It was the most comfortable bed she’s slept on in months – and if she had any energy at all – and it were not such a matter of life and death that they find and speak with Dr. Maura Franklin (presently sleeping in the cabin next door) –
“Lucy,” Flynn said again, almost so quietly she can scarcely hear him in the dark; the bed creaked from his weight leaning on it.
Lucy reined in her thoughts, hauling herself towards wakefulness. “Is it my watch?”
“There’s someone in the hall. Picking the lock.”
She wanted to curse, but she moved silently to her feet instead; Flynn pushed her behind him, and she heard the sound of his holster, unsnapped. Lucy laid a hand on his back, and held her breath –
The door swung open, revealing a pale man, damp from the weather – even in the weak light of the hall, she could tell his coat was decades too recent. Rittenhouse.
“This isn’t your cabin,” said the stranger, eying Flynn’s pistol warily.
“It’s not yours, either,” Lucy replied, hitting the lights and closing the cabin door behind him, “We’ve checked the passenger lists. How’s Emma?”
The stranger repeated her question, seemingly genuine in his confusion; Lucy, with a nod from Flynn, asked, “You’re not Rittenhouse?”
“My name is Solace – Daniel Solace. If you’re here from Henry Singleton, I warn you –”
Flynn cut him off. “Who’s Henry Singleton?”

Week 10 - Chosen creatives
Leta Soberiajski
Leta, a freelance designer and art director based in New York City, creates viscerally stunning tableaus by fusing traditional graphic design elements with photography, art, and styling. Her multi-media practice explores visual journeys. Wade and Leta, who make up the other half of the creative team, have dubbed their style "Music To Your Eyes," where speculative design converges with vibrant mediums to create a recognisable personality in all of their work. She credits Gins, whose work "their work has made us consider the physical effect of the work that we make and has even encouraged us to create our own work philosophies such as "design as performance," to give a greater understanding of the physical activity we strive for in the work we create, whether through a brand, a sculpture, or an ad." as one of the visionaries she draws inspiration from.
She attended Purchase College to study graphic design, and she has been working on her own since 2013. Adobe, Bloomberg Businessweek, D.S. & Durga, Google, Gucci, IBM, The New York Times, Refinery 29, Renault, Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, Target, Tate Modern, and UNIQLO are just a few of the many companies she has as clients. She teaches at the School of Visual Arts as an adjunct professor as well. For its annual New Visual Artists Review, which chose 20 international designers under the age of 30, Print Magazine has recognised her.

Catherine Griffiths
Catherine Griffiths is a designer, typographer, artist, writer, feminist, and activist from Aotearoa New Zealand. Her practise, which combines graphic design, self-publishing, writing about design, and commissioned art installations in public and private spaces, depends heavily on improvisation. Notable projects include her ongoing Vowel series, TypeSHED11, Wellington (2009), the curation and co-organization of TypeSHED11, Wellington (2002, 2004), and the Wellington Writers Walk, a series of large-scale concrete text sculptures.
Catherine has been involved with Parlour: women, equity, architecture since its inception and is active in the global design community. She launched the platform Designers Speak (Up), created the Directory of Women Designers, organised a poster project and exhibition titled hkoi, Present Tense: Whine Toi Aotearoa, and protested against gender inequality in design in 2018.

Seachange Studio
Tim Donaldson and Amanda Gaskin, the company's co-founders and creative directors, are in charge of Seachange.
Before relocating to New Zealand to launch Seachange, Amanda and Tim spent more than a decade perfecting their skill at prestigious creative companies in London. They brought a vast amount of expertise with them. Their exposure to many cultures has given them a unique global viewpoint that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
They frequently serve on international judging panels, most recently for D&AD, New York Young Guns, and locally for the New Zealand Best Design Awards, and their work has been praised in esteemed design journals.
A talented collection of creatives with a love (bordering on obsession) for what they do make up the Seachange team.
They expertise is in creating brands from scratch, but we also relish the challenge of revitalising legacy businesses from a new angle.
Although the studio is situated in Auckland, New Zealand's Tmaki Makaurau, it serves clients all around the world.
Emma Kaniuk
Designer and art director Emma Kaniuk is based in Tmaki Makaurau, Auckland. She is one half of Studio Akin, one of the few creative businesses owned by women. She recently founded her own not-for-profit organisation called Tradespeople because "I wanted to be part of the changing the standard." Akin is a branding agency with offices in Tmaki Makaurau, Auckland, and Naarm, Melbourne. It collaborates with forward-thinking individuals to create brand worlds at the nexus of creativity, culture, and technology.
Emma has worked on projects in the arts, aviation, education, finance, fashion, FMCG, hospitality, infrastructure, and social good initiatives in her previous positions at Special Group and Designworks. Her work has won accolades both nationally and internationally, including the purple pin of distinction for graphic design from the Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Design Awards. It has also been highlighted in publications like Creative Review, Communication Arts, Monocle, and numerous websites.
It's safe to say that Emma's practise now heavily emphasises collaboration. Her presentation will be a sort of love letter to all the alphabets and logotypes she and Akin have created individually as well as with other people as she looks back on a number of her projects.

OMG emma, I swear I have been writing an Engineer!Max/Driver!Daniel story for the LONGEST time, I’ll try to summarize where it’s at here:
Okay so, let say Simon retires as Danny’s engineer a little early (sorry Simon ily) and Max starts as Danny’s race engineer in mid 2016. At first Danny thinks it’s a joke right? Like there’s no way this 17-yr-old kid is gonna be as good as Simon?? Except Max is GOOD. Better than good, actually. He’s the best. Because it’s MAX (and Max is Max). 2017 is a little bit of an adjustment period for them but then they GET IT RIGHT in 2018 and Helmut gets his wish: Danny wins the WDC that year and then his random RB teammate (idk who it would be and it’s not important for the story) wins it in 2019.
RB are on top and everything’s great. Danny and Max are so flirty on radio and F1 Twitter is losing it after every interaction between them, rumours are also abound in the paddock about them. But Max eventually ends up a little put out that everyone thinks they’re sleeping together (they most definitely ARE) because he also wants to be taken seriously, not always in the background, attached to Danny’s wins and loses.
He wants to prove himself basically, that he’s a good engineer because he just IS a good engineer and that it’s not just because it’s him and Danny. So in 2020 he jumps to Mercedes in a shock-exit a-la-Danny-to-Renault. Even more shook-ness he actually helps Lewis re-take the WDC that year, and the vibes are just RANCID at the final race. Like, Max is there with Lewis and Mercedes and can’t even look at Danny and Christian trying to console the team after the loss. F1 Twitter found dead, etc. etc. Danny hasn’t had a win in two years at this point (since he and max cooled things off in 2019) and finally snaps, and it’s announced by the next season that he’s moving to McLaren in 2021 (queue the ominous music)
There’s like six chapters of Max just sitting in Mercedes watching Daniel struggle in McLaren and just the LONGING and PINING is too much for everyone. They maybe break at some point before Danny leaves the grid and have really tender, desperate sex where Danny literally tells Max: “I miss you, I can’t do anything without you. You ruined my whole fucking career and my life, you know that?”
Cut to Danny being signed as RB’s third driver and then Max getting a call from Christian since he wants BOTH of his golden boys back. They’re in some office in Milton Keynes when Christian asks him outright: “how much?” and Max just stares at him because it’s not about the money at all. It never was.
“Of course, I would only come back to work with Daniel again.”
And Christian, to his credit, doesn’t even look surprised.
END SCENE!
ok u need to let me know when u publish this because i am hooked!!!

Hey I've read Attica Locke. Okay Black Water Rising was 2009 and finalist for the 2010 and Great Circle was

Great Circle has a hover-box: "Great Circle is a 2021 novel by Maggie Shipstead, published on May 4, 2021 by Alfred A. Knopf." It's a larger box than necessary, end ID.)
There is a PATTERN have books from 1 year previously. I really like that, since the long list is happening "already" in February, um, well today is the oscars. But then, like, the fun stupid awards are november. what do you think would happen to the goodreads choice award if it let anyone at all make nominations. there's a discord bot that will display the link and summary and cover of a book based on "I'm Feeling Lucky" style searching quearying into the bot.i think that type of AI should sort the nominations and count them.
My thoughts.
*Hehe, no I'm not mad about the "memoir? fiction" aspect I just put it because everyone is saying everyone else is talkign about it.

**Since Song of Achilles is popular, I hate it.
***Piranesi might have the same problems as Achilles. But I liked it. Mainly because I had musical accompaniment and was reading a LP version... so it felt slower due to being like 300 pages (it's somewhat short! People joke because appartently Mr. Strange and Dr. Norell is very long. Well I haven't seen it.)

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell a novel by Susanna Clarke, black with white bird flight silouette. The Final Revival of Opal & Nev, with a blurb "sorry untranscribed I'm tired, a nove"one of the most immersive novels l've ever read," from Ta-Nehisi Coates, by Dawn Walton, a novel, it's red with a black guitar silhouette with an orange cut out of a woman's face, end ID.)
Oh and I didn't. Bother with Great Circle. But it was the only 2022 Women's Prize book I'd, like, well I'd heard of it, and, um. I'd heard of it, and Opal & Nev, which I did pick up, but unlike Great Circle I didn't crack it open at all.
From this year I think I haven't read any of them or cracked them open at all but I've heard a lot about Nightcrawling.

Huge thank you to Mike & Emma Kerr for bringing their van for conversion in July! This lovely Renault Trafic is light and airy with some great colour choices of Light Oak for the furniture, Mid Blue flooring & Cinder Grey with Blue Bay vinyl upholstery, a real head turner! The sliding rail bed system, enables them to have their children within easy reach while driving but also allowing them extra room in the back when parked up. We hope you have some fantastic adventures in your new van and make lots of happy family memories in the years to come. Thank you again for your custom.......Enjoy! 1 If they were an animal, what would they be? What is the first thing they’d do when they learn they’re an animal? You know those cats that are always on the couch napping?? She would be one of those. Always at home, totally unbothered couch queen. First thing she’ll do would probably nap.
4 How do they see themselves in their head, and how is that image wrong? Okay, this is HARD to explain, but Em can’t really imagine herself as an individual. Its like she thinks as herself not as a “Person” but as the people that makes her who she is. She doesn’t really see herself as a whole person without her people. She’s Lulu’s mum, Dan’s wife, Blake’s sister, Isaac and Isabella’s auntie, but not as Emma as a whole outside that. If you ask her who she is leaving on a side her people then she would struggle for a while to answer. She just needs her people to feel whole and she doesn’t see the issue on that. Its part of her PTSD, so yeah, the imagine she has of herself it’s totally wrong to the reality.
14 If they suddenly vanished, what would their family assume they were up to? (Shopping, pranking people, overthrowing governments, etc.) Everyone would think about the worst case scenarios of her being hurt because Em always answers to her people.
37 What time period do they wish they lived in? Now as the author, write why that would be a disaster. Em would love to see the 18th century but just like ten minutes. Dan would love to be back in the 90s because of the cars. It would be a disaster because Em would die of a heart attack seeing him driving those things, and then she would die without internet.
55 Who is their favorite Avenger? Which Avenger are they the most like personality-wise? Scarlet Witch. For both answers.
60 When was the last time they physically attacked something? Austin 2022. The door won the fight. The next target was Michael, but then Blake stopped her.
73 If they speak more than one language, do they know the swear words in those languages? She speaks French and Italian and yes, she knows how to swear in those. Dan taught her in Italian, French was a mix of Charles LeClerc drunk in Vegas and the Renault folks.
