Twilight Advent Calendar, Day 4
Dec. 4 - What does Sam like about being the alpha? What's difficult about it? And how does he feel post-BD1 about Jacob's new role?
So, I like to keep these headcanons fully current. I think it's very fun to imagine my characters, whether they are fully mine or created by someone else, as living, breathing people who go on experiencing the world even when I'm not there to write their experiences down for them.
In 2023? There is no pack. They’ve been at peace for sixteen years, and the vampires have been fully gone for ten. He and Emily still live on the Rez, but he stopped phasing when the Cullens left, both because it was unnecessary and because he wanted to father children. There are two of them now, both boys, eight and five and a half: Levi and Caleb on a school roster but they have Salish names, too.
He's proud he was able to take the role he took, when it needed taking. Though he knows he was forced into being more mature than he needed to be and too early, it was a role he'd been shouldering since toddlerhood and it has always felt right. Being the alpha now isn't about wrangling a bunch of teenaged shape shifters; it's about securing a future for the tribe and raising the next generation. At thirty-eight, he's one of the youngest elders, and he enjoys the way his role has become more about the future. He was elected to the governmental tribal council for one three-year term in the 2010s, and plans to do it again now that Caleb is school-aged. He's active at the tribal school, and has been instrumental in working with academics and elders in reconstructing as much as he can of the Quileute language.
Emily works in occupational therapy in Olympia and its surrounds, and her patients are comforted by her scars; she lets the youngest ones touch them to know that it's okay to be something other than society's idea of perfection. She's a devoted mom, too, although Sam is the one who is home more. Their parents call them "very modern."
He's bewildered by Jacob, who still seems content and who has never stopped phasing so that he can keep up with Renesmee. He's lived with the Cullens for ten years, and Sam can't imagine what it must be like to be surrounded by, if nothing else, that smell. But Jake seems incredibly happy and still besotted.
When Jacob and Renesmee visited from France this summer, while Renesmee was inside with Emily, he took Jake on a walk to Rialto beach and asked when he was finally going to pop the question.
Jake only laughed. "Whenever I think it's possible Edward won't end me for it," he replied. But then he hit Sam with the same smile he's had for seventeen years and answered more quietly, "Truthfully? Sometime soon."
And weirdly? Sam realized he’s happy for them.

“Bella, maybe Jake just wants to be alone- or maybe some guy time. Y/n suggested it to her slightly older sister. Bella and Y/n were hardly even a year apart in age but that didn’t stop Y/n from occasionally getting treated like a baby compared to Bella.
Y/n knew Jake and Bella had been spending a lot of time together recently and it seemed to be good for her sister after the Cullens left. But Jake had become sick or at least that's what he and Billy had been telling Bella. Y/n wanted to just leave it, he’d come back on his own either way. But her sister, no Bella , needed answers now and she wasn't going to wait to get them on Jacobs time.
Bella shook her head with a tight expression on her face. “No, Y/n. Something's up. Somethings wrong I can feel it.”
“Bella, we’ve both known Jake practically our whole lives maybe he’s just-” Y/n shook her head lifting her hand in q wave motion before dropping it down to her lap. “I don’t know, going through puberty?”
“His dad keeps saying he has mono but it’s been almost 2 weeks and he won’t even answer texts. Let alone calls.” Bella explained further as she pulled into the Black’s driveway.
“Maybe he’s still sick.” Y/n tried one last time as Bella put the car in park.
“Well, we're going to find out.” Bella stated before she got out of the car.
Y/n unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car to chase her sister muttering to herself. “This isn’t gonna go well.”
Bella knocked on the door and shortly after Billy opened the door. Bella had told the man in the wheelchair that she needed to see Jake, but all she got was that he wasn’t there. Next thing Y/n knew her sister had welcomed herself into the home practically going right over Billy.
“Bella.” Billy called after her but it was too late and Bella wasn’t listening anyways.
“I’m sorry, Billy.” Y/n said apologizing for her sister's actions.
Billy let out a sigh and sent a tired smile to the younger Swan. “Don’t worry about it, Y/n.”
It wasn’t even a few minutes later that Bella stormed out of the house and Y/n followed yelling after her. “Bella!”
“Hey!” Bella shouted and shoved one of the shirtless males Y/n somewhat recognized. “What did you do to him?!”
That's all Y/n could really hear from so far back. So she shouted out to her sister again, hoping to defuse the situation if she couldn’t just get her to leave. “Bella!”
“Y/n wha-” Jake spoke out suddenly standing beside the Y/h/c-ed girl.
“She dragged me here with her.” That's all Y/n had to say for Jake to understand what was happening. Charlie got Y/n in the devoirce so Y/n and Jake grew up together their whole lives as siblings in Forks. They could understand what the other was saying with just a look.
Jake nodded before looking back at the scene and then pointed “And that?”
“She slapped that Paul guy.” Y/n told him and that changed his demeanor.
“Crap. Y/n, stay back.” Jake said as he noticed Paul shaking.
Y/n wondered why but then she made eye contact with the Paul guy her sister was taking her anger out on. It was as if time showed for a minute. All the members of the pack put it together, and that's when Jacob flipped and inevitably so did Paul.
Seeing them turn into giant wolves Y/n ran to her sister. “Bella, you okay?” Her attention was drawn back to the wolves fighting not far from everyone. “Woah. Now that's cool.”
“Really, Y/n?” Bella asked, turning her head to face her sister in disbelief at how her sister wasn’t scared.
“What?” Y/n shrugged. In her opinion that was cool. Way cooler than Vampire super speed, the eyes, and sparkling under the sunlight someone dumped a 1,000 pounds of glitter on you. The Paul guy and Jake turned into Wolves! And not just wolves, Giant wolves. That's impressive.
“What just happened?” Bella asked Sam Uley she believed his name was. All the while Y/n was confused as to the looks she was getting from the others, a few she had grown up with just like Jake.
“Paul imprinted.” Sam stated looking at Bella. Then Jacob came out of the woods still looking pissed off.
“On Y/n.” Jake grumbled, clearly pissed off at the new found fact.
“Take her back to Emily’s. Bella too.” Sam told Jacob which resulted in a very loud scoff from the younger male. “That's an order Jacob. Embry go with them.”
“Hey, Em.” Y/n nodded to Embry. They have been friends for years. It brought comfort to Y/n, knowing someone else. Someone that wasn’t pissed that would be in the car with her, her sister, and Jake.
“Hey, Y/n/n.” Embry smiled. He had missed seeing her around since he phased.
“Why is Jake so pissed?” Y/n asked Embry hoping he could fill her in on what's going on exactly.
Embry sighed before explaining. “Him and Paul don’t get along, and he’s protective of you. As he should be, you're like brother and sister.”
“Why would he be protective over me when it comes to Paul? I’ve never met Paul before.” Y/n squinted with a furrowed expression as she questioned Embry confused.
“Paul should be the one to explain it to you. It’s not my place, or anyone else's in the pack.” Embry felt bad for Y/n. She had no idea what was going on and it very much involved her. But like he said it wasn’t his place to explain any of this to her.
Y/n nodded in understanding, kind of. But maybe he could explain something else to her. “Can you explain the pack part to me then?”
Embry nodded with a smile stretching across his lips. “Yes, I can do that.”
It wasn’t a long drive but long enough for Embry to explain about the pack to Y/n.
“Who’s place is this again?” Y/n heard Bella ask and she listened for Jake’s answer.
“Emily and Sam’s.” Jake answered as he got out of the truck.
Jake and Embry helped Y/n off of the truck bed. With a quiet thank you from Y/n they all headed inside. The only ones that weren’t there was Sam and Paul. But it didn’t take long for them to join in on the group.
“Can I talk to you? Outside. Alone.” Paul asked nervously looking softly at Y/n, to let her know she could reject his request if she wanted to. Y/n nodded ‘yes’ getting up to follow him.
“Over my dead body.” Jake growled, glaring with his eyes set on burning holes into Paul.
“Jake.” Sam said his name firmly. Making Jake stand down. For now.
“Come on.” Paul nodded his head towards outside Y/n nodded as well and followed him outside the small nice home.
They walked into the woods for awhile, Y/n assumed long enough to be far away enough so the rest of the pack couldn’t hear their conversation. “So, I assume that they explained the whole pack thing to you?”
“Embry did, yeah. But not the imprint part?” Y/n spoke with a unsure tone, hoping she got the word right. Paul nodded with a twitch of his lips. “Not the imprint part. What is that by the way?”
“Guess I should explain that part then.” Paul smiled, hearing her just say the word of what she is to him. That made him feel warm on the inside, which was a new feeling for him. He did like it though.
“Embry said it was only your place to tell me what it is.” Y/n looked to the still shirtless male with curiosity. What did it mean? What did it have to do with her? And why did Paul have to be the one to explain it?
“I have a spot I’d like to take you, and I’ll explain on the way.” Paul suggested there was a place he wanted to show her that only he knew about. Great view that he never that he never showed anyone.
“Ok” Y/n knew she was being way trusting with this stranger. But he felt trustworthy. She didn’t know why but he does.
Paul stopped them for a second in their tracks. He really needed to know something and it was bothering him that he didn’t. “I do have a question before we get too far that I should know that I do not.”
Y/n let out an amused breath before asking. “And what's that?”
“Your name.” Paul smirked
Y/n nodded with a smile. “Y/n. Y/n Swan.”
“Well, Y/n Swan. It’s nice to finally meet you.” Paul’s smirk fell into a smile. He always teased the others who already had their imprints about how whipped they were, but now he was starting to understand.

The Incident - Paul Lahote x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
A little one shot that I just couldn't stop writing. A good angst to fluff (btw my fics will never be all angst, im too soft). Also do not fear, Im working on a Sam fic and part 3 to not letting you go. But you let ME know what you think of this one ❤️ 2K words
"My SISTER, Paul. She's my fucking SISTER!" you yelled, voice hoarse as your throat cracked.
"I could give a SHIT LESS WHAT SHE IS. YOU'RE. NOT. GOING." He screamed, jaw taut as he tried his best to subside the tremors that were threatening to take over his body.
You ignored the teeth he bared, shaking your head and scoffing.
"Aren't you tired of this?! I'm going over there. I HAVE to know she's safe."
"YOU SERIOUSLY THINK I'LL JUST SIT BY AND WATCH MY IMPRINT GO TO A PLACE WHERE I CAN'T PROTECT HER? WHAT ABOUT ME KNOWING THAT YOU'RE SAFE?? HUH?? YOU'RE SICK IF YOU THINK I WOULD BE OKAY WITH THIS!"
"Sick?!? SICK?!? LETS TALK ABOUT HOW 'SICK' IT IS THAT YOU WOULD WANT TO KILL HER AND THE BABY. THATS MY FAMILY PAUL!"
"AND WERE NOT?"
It had been like this for a week straight. Ever since the pack stormed through the door announcing their mission to kill Bella and the unborn child within her.
You felt as though your two families had been pinned against each other. Head spinning at the idea of there being a 'choice' between your sister and imprint.
On one hand you were desperate to make sure she was alright, but also exhausted at the never ending battle with your boyfriend.
Sure you had talked to Bella over the phone, but you didn't buy into the lies like your father had. Even though you knew significantly more than he did, she still attempted to downplay the situation. She had done this numerous times since getting thrown into the vampire world, but she could only keep you in the dark for so long before you unraveled the truth.
You had to see her. Even if it was the last time. By fate, or at the hands of the pack. You had to be there for her, as she would you.
Leaving your imprint though? Was at task challenging at best. On at least four different occasions you fought with Paul for so long that Emily and Sam had to intervene, prying you two apart at the pleads of other pack members.
Emily would console you while you ranted and Sam would make Paul run off his anger in the woods. When you faced him again, it turned into a rerun of the same argument. Nobody in the house had gotten sleep, and the things were progressively getting worse.
Quil came through the door, widening his eyes.
"Just a heads up everyone, a little comedic relief does not go over well. I saw my life flash before Paul's eyes." He huffed before sitting down.
"When is this going to be overrrr?" Embry whined. He shoved his head in his hands on the kitchen table while you and Paul went at it in the front yard.
Emily sighed.
"Unfortunately sooner than you think....Y/N packed her suitcase this morning." She said quietly.
"You're not really going to let her go over there are you?!?" Kim stood up, looking at both Emily and Sam.
"If you would like to stop her, please, be my guest." Sam motioned his hand to outside, where you and Paul could be seen through the window. You were throwing your arms up and pointing fingers at him, while his voice boomed loudly, towering his large frame over yours.
Kim winced.
You had always been the calm to Paul's raging storm. 'Made him all soft' as the guys would tease. None of them had actually seen you two disagree with each other. In the mind link they saw glimpses of minor arguments, most of the time being reconciled in the sheets..
Paul eventually got an order by Sam to think about something else while on patrol. 'Literally, anything else'.
"She's not going anywhere. I can count on my hand how many times they've been apart since he imprinted. They'll work it out eventually." Jared said as he pulled Kim on his lap, taking a hunk out of his apple.
Kim didn't share a look that she believed him, worriedly looking out to where you stood.
A few moments passed when her body stiffened and she gasped, making Jared look where she was.
"SHIT! SHIT!" He said, throwing Kim off his lap.
Sam turned to look out the window in time to see Paul phase, his sharp claw making contact with your skin. Your blood curdling scream instantly had everyone else off their seats, nearly knocking each other over to race outside.
You laid on the ground as your body wracked with sobs, clutching your side. Blood gushed through your hand as you started to panic, scrambling to stand. The large silver wolf only stood for a few moments before Paul shifted back, completely horrified as he frantically tried to reach you.
He felt his heart nearly rip out of his chest as you backpedaled into Emily, who was helping to hold you upright.
"NO! NO! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME! IM DONE!" You cried.
Sam stood in the middle of the two of you.
Paul could feel his chest caving in, hand out, speaking more gently than he had at all in the past week.
"B-baby. Please. Please, I'm- I'm so sorry baby. Please let me just see-"
"NO! I'm done. I'm done. I'm leaving. I'm done." You repeated like a mantra, limping to the car.
"Y/N you cannot drive like this..." Emily attempted to say as she stepped in from behind you. She could see your anxiety was heightened, and afraid to set you off further.
"I have to go," you choked, on the verge of tears as you tried to open the drivers side. You had yet to even notice the gash in your side, adrenaline pumping wildly through your body.
Paul made his way around Sam, grabbing your other arm that was holding the door.
"You are crazy if you think I'm letting you leave like this. Please come-"
You yanked your arm from his grasp.
"Don't. Let me go!" You said coldly.
Paul froze. He couldn't move. You never spoke to him like this. Even in the numerous fights you two had this week.
Every single instinct in his body needed to help you. He knew you were downplaying your injuries. He knew he just royally fucked everything up. But the absolute last thing you could do was walk into a house full of vampires dripping in blood. Fucking doctor or not.
"Come inside and let me take a look at you, okay? Please." Emily said to coax you, frantically looking at your wound.
This made Sam follow her gaze, looking down to see the blood pouring from your side hadn't stopped, and you were growing paler by the minute.
"Y/N....you're going to stay here and I'll call Sue." He said in an authoritative voice, leaving no room to argue as he turned to start dialing the number.
You almost argued. You almost fought both of them on the subject. Your stubbornness almost won.
But you felt an immense pain. So strong you don't know how the hell you didn't notice it when you stood up.
That couldn't be good.
"....Y/N?" Paul said, barely above a whisper. Tears were now silently streaming down his face as he held both hands out slightly. Not close enough to touch you but to be prepared in case you fell.
You could feel yourself start to float in and out of consciousness. You tried to ground yourself by focusing on something. You looked at his hands that were outstretched.
Those hands that you held on your first date. The hands that hover your back anywhere you go. The hands that lift you up from the couch on movie nights to bring you to bed. The hands that move in just the right way when making love to you. The hands that were now shaking, not out of anger, but fear. You loved those hands.
"Y/N? Baby?" Paul said louder, more urgently as he could see you fading.
You watched him get blurry as the world started to spin.
"Paul," you murmured, before fading into darkness. The last thing you remember were the hands that caught you before you hit the ground.
"Y/N!!!" Paul screamed as he caught your body falling into him.
Sam ran back, telling him Sue was just up the street. He instructed Paul to carry you inside and onto the bed. The pack dispersed, each trying to find something to help you such as towels, an emergency kit and pillows.
Paul held you close as he lay you down, while repeatedly whispering in your ear.
"I'm so sorry baby. I'm so-so sorry. I cant lose you. Youre everything to me. I'll never yell at you again. I swear on my life. You can do whatever you want. I'll do whatever you want. Please, I love you." Paul pressed kisses to your hairline when Sue and her nurse friend entered.
Jared reluctantly came in behind them to lead Paul out of the room as they worked.
"Come on man, she'll wake up soon I promise."
After he was guided out, Paul slid down to sit on the other side of the door, refusing to move. Jared didn't push it, leaning down to sit next to him.
"Sue's seen this kind of stuff before. Just needs stitching up and stuff," Jared reassured as he put his hand on Paul's shoulder.
"It's not the injuries I'm worried about. So much as what she'll think of me when she wakes up. I....I fucked this one up, Jare."
"If Emily can forgive Sam, I think Y/N will forgive you. She's crazy about your ass."
Paul just nodded, praying he was right.
~
Your eyes fluttered open slowly as you woke. You looked around to see that you had been bandaged up along your left side, an IV attached to your arm sat close by. You attempted to sit up, whining when the pain wouldn't allow it. Within a few minutes Emily entered, her face showing relief.
"You're up! How are you feeling?" She checked the IV before sitting on the edge of the bed, careful of your body.
"Sore...where's, where's Paul?" Your heart ached as you started to replay what happened. There was no doubt in your mind what happened was an accident. You had seen the signs he always warned you about, and chose to ignore them in the heat of the argument. Not only that, but the look on his face when you had refused him was too much to bare.
Emily smiled, not expecting you to want to see him so soon.
"He's just outside the door. Hasn't moved. He didn't know if you'd want to see him..."
"I need to talk to him."
It hadn't even been a few seconds when Paul stood at the door. He looked more out of shape than you did. The disheveled hair and dark circles under his eyes told you he hadn't slept in days.
"I'll give you two some space. Just holler if you need anything," Emily spoke as she stood up, making her way around him and down the stairs.
Paul remained where he stood,
"If you don't want to be with me I understand. I have no words for my actions other than I am so...." he cleared his throat, trying not to cry. "So incredibly sorry I put you through this. I put you in danger when I was trying to keep you out of it. You don't have to stay I-"
"Paul please just kiss me." You interrupted, not wanting to hear the rest as you already made up your mind in forgiving him.
He stood for just a moment longer, trying to comprehend if he heard you correctly. It was when you weakly opened your arms for him that he wasted no time in rushing over to you, cupping your face and gently yet passionately kissed you with everything he had. Tears flowed his cheeks at the relief that you still wanted him. Even after everything he had put you through.
You two pulled back for air after a moment, and you ran your hand through his hair.
"I forgive you, okay? I can't imagine my life without you."
He let out a breath, smiling for the first time in weeks.
"It will never happen again. I swear on my fucking life baby." He caressed your hair, neck, landing his palm on your heart.
You two sat like that for awhile. Almost scared to leave each other's presence. You two talked for hours on the bed. Paul had confessed that the night before, while you were sleeping, the pack had fought with the Cullens. You learned that Paul refused to go, not wanting to leave your side. You were grateful to hear that Sam didn't push on him being there, knowing you were all that mattered to him, and he'd refuse him if he had too. Even if it went against his every instinct as a wolf. Turns out that Jacob had imprinted on your niece, and Bella had survived, now as a vampire.
You weren't particularly thrilled your sister was now a bloodsucker, but as long as she was alive, you were happy.
Paul eventually made his way to the other side of the bed, kissing every exposed inch of you, whispering all the things he loved about you in your ear until you fell asleep.
When your heartbeat slowed down and he was sure you were out, he reached down and felt the velvet box in his pocket. No doubt in his mind about the future you both held.

Jacob’s imprint and s/o plays a prank where she wipes off his kisses and jacob’s reaction to it
jake cracks me up in the same awful way that sam uley does😭😭
...
you were at jake's house helping billy out with some random things around the house while you waited for jake to get back from patrol. he absolutely loved how considerate you were when it came to his dad and was always so grateful for your help.
unfortunately for jake, you were best friends with paul and jared which oftentimes led to a lot of unnecessary shenanigans. the previous night, you'd (very unfortunately) lost a bet to the two of them and ended up needing to play a harmless prank on your boyfriend as penance.
so when jake, paul, and jared all came bustling through the door, you knew you were done for. paul and jared both wore matching grins on their faces as they leaned up against the kitchen counter, watching as jake came over to you.
"y/n," he smiled, stepping over to pull you into his arms.
you giggled, hugging him back and allowing him to hold you close to him for a few moments, "i missed you." he mumbled against your hair before loosening his grip on you so he could hold you by your biceps, "so much." he added before pressing a soft kiss to your cheek.
you glared at paul and jared, already knowing you were done for. "jake-" you giggled, brushing his kiss of your cheek with the heel of your hand.
the way his jaw dropped had paul and jared bursting into laughter, "what happened?" he asked softly after a moment, completely ignoring jared and paul's laughter as he instead slid one of his hands up to your jaw to inspect your face for any signs of discomfort or irritation.
you giggled, almost immediately folding when you saw his expression, "'m sorry," you murmured, giggling again, "lost a bet to jared and paul." you whispered which had jacob rolling his eyes before he pulled you close to his chest.
"what the hell is wrong with you two?" he grumbled to paul and jared, huffing when the two of them continued laughing as they made their way over to the living room to sit down on the couch.
"'m sorry jake," you giggled, peeking up at him, smiling when you saw how his gaze softened when he looked down at you.
"not your fault," he reassured, bending down to press his lips to yours for a soft kiss that had paul and jared gagging.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Aren't you the most adorable little creatures I have ever seen?" "You're so cute. I want to keep you forever!"
Passersby probably took Emily and you for some deranged ladies when they saw you crouched in an alley, apparently talking to the ground.
But they couldn't see the adorable little balls of fur meowing back at you with impressive intelligence lighting their eyes. You were leaving the grocery store when you had heard plaintiff meowing sounds and discovered kittens shivering in an old cardboard box.
There was two of them, a fiery black one, who hissed when you first came close, and a grey one who immediately approached you, looking for pets. It had been 10 minutes, and since then, you had dug in your bags to give them water and food. By the way they devoured the bit of ham you gave them, you knew they had been there for a while.
"We can't leave them here," sighed Emily as she petted the black cat on her thighs. The grumpy cat had seemed to take a liking to her incredibly quickly.
"But where can we bring them? I'm scared if we leave them at the pound, they'll be forgotten," you pondered while delicately petting the gray head of the little critter bundled up in your lap.
As if you had just communicated telepathically, you and Emily looked up with a knowing light in your eyes.
Without having a plan, you brought the kittens back to Emily's to give them proper shelter and a long-awaited bath.
The four of you were now on the couch, extenuated after this eventful day. Junior and Paulie, the names you had settled on because of their resemblances with your boyfriends, were sprawled before the fire.
You had just started preparing dinner when you heard familiar howls from the forest. Seconds later, the seven members of the pack entered the cabin. Distracted by the smell of food, they didn't seem to notice the new presence of the two fur balls. Sam immediately headed for Emily to hug her and kiss her cheek. You smiled at the happy couple as you felt a pair of warm hands grab your hips. You smiled and melted into the muscular arms wrapped around your figure.
"Hey, you." "Hey," you answered, a smile in your voice. "What have you been up to?" he sweetly asked.
You tensed at his question, your eyes immediately finding Emily's. Through all your excitement, you didn't have a plan on how to tell seven werewolves you were planning on keeping two kittens.
"Well, actually, it's pretty funny," you started as you turned to face your boyfriend's suspicious expression. You tried delaying your explanation when you heard Seth's excited scream.
"Oh my god! Where do those kittens come from?! They're so adorable!!" he cooed before dropping on his tummy to try and pet them.
"Kittens?!" exclaimed Sam with a questioning look at Emily.
The pack gathered in the living room, observing the two cats, unbothered as ever, lying in front of the fire.
"We found them across the grocery store. We couldn't leave them there to fend for themselves!" explained Emily as she walked to little Sam Junior. The antisocial cat lifted a heavy eyelid at the disruption of his nap, only to meow and lift his head in search of pets when he noticed who it was. She grabbed the kitten in her hands, bringing him close to her chest with an adoring smile. The little beast softly purred in her arms. It was impossible to deny the special bond they already shared.
You looked at Sam with a glimmer of hope. The look he gave Emily as he saw how happy she was told you everything you needed to know.
"What's his name?" he asked with a defeated sigh as he neared the pair. The little kitten carefully sniffed his hand before allowing him to scratch his head.
"Actually," Emily looked at you with a conniving smile. "With his black fur and protective instinct, he made me think of you, I thought we could call him Sam Junior."
Your little crowd chuckled at the name and the resemblance between the two.
"Junior, eh? Sounds about right." He smiled softly. Whenever Emily was concerned, Sam was as docile as the cat in her arms.
Suddenly, a soft nudge on your shins surprised you. You looked down to realize it was the gray kitten. You felt your heart melt at the display of affection and lifted him carefully from the floor.
"Oh, don't even think about it," uttered Paul as he noticed how you looked at each other.
You pouted your lower lip, bringing the little kitten next to your cheek. "Please, please, please, please," you pleaded. "His name's Paulie," you added with a cheeky smile.
Your boyfriend looked at you with incredulous eyes.
"I see it, Paul. He looks like you," added Sam with a teasing grin and a lift of his shoulders, as if to say 'You know they've already won bud'
He stayed silent, observing your pouty face and the sleepy kitten in your arms. Before finally saying, "Werewolves with kittens?"
You gave him a little nod. "Yeah, I guess that can work," he conceded with a grin.

Forks, Washington - February 19th 2005
It had been a month since Bella came back to town, she was the centre of the school gossip, everyone trying to either be her friend or get a date with her. All but one person - Y/n L/n. Bella and Y/n grew up together, they were childhood friends along side Jacob Black. But after her parents divorced and she went to live with her mom, Bella had grown distant with the young girl she once saw as a sister. Two letters a week turned into one a month, which then turned into nothing. Y/n was heartbroken, her best friend had up and left. Jacob tried to be around more often but with school on the res and his dad nagging at him to help around the house, he couldn't fit Y/n into his schedule. Which in turn, made the pair grown apart from each other as well. That was until she came back.
The last month in Forks had been hell. Everywhere Y/n went, whispers about the Swan girl being back was all she heard. Every time she would enter through the school door the chatter about her once best friend would swarm through the halls, Y/n had enough. She was sick and tired of always hearing about her, Bella this and Bella that - it was giving her a headache. Jessica and Angela had gave Y/n's seat at the lunch table away to Bella, that was until she started sitting with the Cullens. It was infuriating, she's been back a month and she's already pining after the only Cullen available, it was pathetic. Bella was like a plague coming to ruin Y/n's life all over again, but she wouldn't allow it to affect her.
When lunch came around, Y/n found an empty table near the back of the cafeteria. Jessica and Angela tried to invite her back to their table but all they were met with was Y/n's middle finger held up in front of their faces, the two girls turned and walked away but not without Jessica muttering a not so quiet 'bitch' under her breath. Y/n had enough of Jessica's shit; the sly things she'd say about everyone, how she would point out peoples insecurities and worst of all - how she victimised herself all the goddamn time. Y/n had got up out of her seat, the screech from the metal legs dragging against the floor grabbed the attention of everyone in the cafeteria. "Hey Jess?" Before the girl could respond, Y/n had grabbed a handful of her hair and yanked her back - the scream she let out was loud, almost deafening the Cullens; who were on the other side of the cafeteria. "Don't you ever call me a bitch again, do you hear me? I'm sick and tired of your bullshit. You just never learn to fucking shut up." With that said, Y/n had let go of her and walked out the double doors leading into the parking lot of the school.
The Cullens had watched the whole thing unfold, Bella clinging onto Edward's arm saying she was scared. Emmett had the biggest grin on his face, he was enjoying himself too much, quiet little Y/n had turned out to be a badass and Emmett loved it. Rose had to stop her mate from joining in, a firm grip on his bicep - enough to hurt anyone that wasn't a vampire. Alice, knowing what would happen, had excused herself before the fight broke out. She wanted to see if Y/n was alright, so the pixie like vampire had decided to wait beside Y/n's car, hoping she would show up soon. But she didn't, at least not for awhile. Alice had gotten tired of waiting, she turned to leave when she heard the car door behind her shut with a soft click. Before she could do anything, the car had reversed and turned out the parking lot - heading as far away from the gates of Forks Highschool.

March 5th 2005
It had been at least a week since the whole incident between Y/n and Jessica. No one had seen or heard off Y/n, people had started to spread rumours around saying she was expelled or she had ran away after what she had done but none of it was true, only no one would really know the truth at least not yet. Bella had rang Jacob after it had turned into two weeks of not seeing Y/n, at first the young wolf sounded unfazed, like he didn't care but in truth, it was all an act. He knew about what had happened, he heard it straight from the horses mouth the day it all occurred. Y/n had drove all the way to Jacob's house, he was in the garage when he head the screech of tires pulling up in front of his house. He had poked his head out the garage door to see who it was, not really in the mood for anyone to come rushing into his house when he was busy. The sight of a distraught Y/n had panicked the poor boy, he rushed over to her scanning her body for any signs of injury but he turned up with nothing. Y/n was on the verge of tears, he could hear her heart hammering in her chest. Jacob brought her in to his arms, the warmth radiating off of him helped calm the girl down a little though she was still shaking.
Y/n had brought Jacob up to date with what had happened, he was proud of her for finally standing up to Jessica but he was also upset that it had to get to this point for Y/n to finally step up and confront her about it. Y/n had stayed with Jacob and his dad for the last couple weeks, begging them to not send her back there. A couple weeks had then turned into a month, Jacob had started to ignore everyone and started to hang out with Sam Uley and his little pack of mutts. Y/n wasn't having it, she was sick and tired of waiting for Jacob to come home but he never did, no matter how many times Y/n had asked Billy where Jacob had disappeared to he never told her. She waited for as long as she could until it was too much, she had trekked all the way over to Sam's place; her hands clenched and face red hot with anger. She was going to get her answers one way or another.
When Y/n had made it to Sam's house, Bella just so happened to be there too. Her fiery orange truck parked in the drive. There was a indescribable feeling in the pit of Y/n's stomach, a mixture between anxiety and full blown hatred. She stomped her way over to the group, Sam was telling Bella to leave but she wasn't having any of it, like always. Paul was the first to notice Y/n, her h/l h/c whipping around with the wind. Before he could tell Sam she was here, Bella had shouted at him. "What did you do to him? He didn't want this. He just up and left without telling me anything because he's scared of you." Paul had laughed at Bella, Jacob wasn't scared of anyone and yet she still thought that. Paul was calm until Bella had gone and slapped him across the face, she clutched her hand to her chest, it was surely broken after that hit. Paul had started to shake violently, Sam had pushed Bella back telling her to back away whilst simultaneously trying to get Paul to calm down. Y/n had the dumbest idea ever, we all must admit she's not the smartest. She had slowly started to step towards Paul right as he had shifted.
Bella's screaming could be heard but that didn't bother Y/n, what did though was the huge dark silver furred wolf right in front of her. It's teeth bared, snarling at her. Though, she felt no fear. Her hand slowly reached up and gently lay upon it's muzzle. The wolf huffed, he wasn't entirely trusting the girl in front of him but he also felt no fear towards her. He looked into her e/c and everything stilled. The noise around him had calmed, all he could focus on was her. Paul felt like the centre of the earth had shifted, like he was finally where he was meant to be. Before he knew it, he had shifted back. Y/n's body flush against his own, protecting him from the eyes around them. Soon enough, a blanket had been given to him to cover up until he was able to make it back to the house and put a new set of clothes on. Paul was confused, how was he able to imprint on Y/n when he had already imprinted on Rachel, Jacob's sister?
Tumblr media
After the events of earlier today, Bella had told Jacob to never speak to her again and she left, just like that. Jacob was sat on the steps of Sam's porch, he just wanted to be alone but he knew that was impossible. Jacob felt a shift of weight beside him, he turned his head and saw Y/n wrapped up in one of Emily's blankets, she must've given Y/n the blanket to stay warm. Jacob threw his arm over the smaller girl, the warm his body provided her, soothed the chill that made a home in her bones. "You know, Bella doesn't deserve you Jake. You're too good for her." They both sat there in silence for awhile, the soft chime of the trees rustling in the wind settling in to the comfortable silence around them. The door to Sam's house opened, revealing the older male. "Come inside, we're having a pack meeting." The pair looked at each other before Jacob got up and walked inside, leaving Y/n to sit on her own to watch the trees dance around in the soft breeze.
Inside Sam's house, the pack was all sat around in his living room. Embry, Paul, Jared and Quil were sat on the sofa, Leah and Seth took up the two arm chairs while Sam and Jacob were stood; everyone waiting for Sam to start the meeting. "We all witnessed what happened between Paul and Y/n earlier, Paul imprinted for the second time. What we need to figure out is why that happened." All eyes were on Paul, he felt smug about having two imprintee's but it felt wrong, as if he were betraying Rachel. The meeting had gone on for the last hour, the pack had decided to try and see if they would all imprint or if it was only Paul to be lucky enough to have two imprintee's. The pack had left the house, Y/n completely unaware of what was about to happen. Jacob held his hand out to Y/n, pulling her up on her feet and leading her over to the small field where Paul had initially shifted. "I need you to be as calm as possible, okay? We need to see if what happened to Paul earlier will happen to all of us, I promise I will explain it all later." Y/n only nodded her head, giving Jacob the all clear.
The pack had lined up beside each other, Paul was the first to shift. He felt all the feelings from earlier flood back, his heart pounded as he stepped closer to Y/n. She reached out to run her fingers through this fur, earning a soft grunt from the silver wolf. Next was Embry, he was scared to look up at Y/n, he felt sick to his stomach; what if he didn't imprint? Y/n took careful steps to Embry, his fur was gray with black spots; he was slightly smaller than Paul. Y/n crouched down to be eye level with the gray wolf, his eye's locked with hers and it was like his whole body was set alight. Slight tingles coursed through his bones, he felt complete. Embry nuzzled into Y/n, small giggles erupted from the girl, the sound was like wind chimes clashing together. Embry left with Paul to shift back and change back into their clothes. Quil and Jared were next, Quil's wolf had chocolate brown fur while Jared had light brown fur with black markings around his eyes. The pair had imprinted instantly, their tails wagging behind them as they accepted the affection off their imprintee. Seth had imprinted fairly easy, though he was still scared. The sandy brown furred wolf cowered at the attention of his imprint, too overwhelmed by the feelings bubbling inside him. The young wolf left as quickly as possible, wanting to shift back and put this behind him for now.
Leah imprinted soon after Seth, she finally knew what it was like to have someone meant for her. The tingling coursing through her body was welcomed, Leah stayed beside Y/n refusing to leave the girls side. She would not leave her imprint, not now - not ever. Jacob and Sam were the only ones left, they had decided to shift at the same time, afraid of being rejected. Sam was a black furred wolf, he was like a shadow while Jacob was a rusty brown colour, almost like Seth. Sam was the first to look up at Y/n, her e/c stared straight back at him. His heart was pounding in his ears, he didn't feel anything at first. He knew what it was like to imprint and yet, he felt nothing. Sam was about to give up and just walk away, until Y/n sat in front of him and ran her fingers through his fur, an electric shot went straight though him. Images flashed behind his eyes, growing old with her, having a family of their own, loving her till his very last breath. Sam now had two imprintee's, what was he going to tell Emily? The black furred wolf walked off towards the house, his ears pinned against his head.
Jacob still had his head pointed down, his eyes trained on the dirt under his paws. "Jake? Look at me, please." Her voice was soft, almost a whisper. Jacob listed his head, his pupils blew as images of them laughing together, cooking dinner together, messing around with the pack flashed before his eyes. It was like his ears were flooded with water, he knew he would do anything, be anything for her. His whole world was centred around Y/n and what their life would be like together. A blanket of warmth wrapped itself around his heart, he felt content knowing his best friend would be his forever.
Tumblr media
Once everyone had shifted back and back in their clothes, they had all settled in to the living room. Y/n sat on the sofa, squished between Jacob and Leah, while Seth sat in front of her on the floor; his back pressed against her legs. Paul and Jared were fighting over what to watch, while Quil and Embry made popcorn for everyone. Sam was the only one missing, he was sat in his shared bedroom with Emily. They were arguing, everyone could hear it. "Is it my fault? Them fighting, I mean." Y/n felt guilty, she didn't want to tear apart Sam's relationship, she would gladly show herself out if it wasn't for Jacob and Leah physically holding her in place. Paul was the first to say anything, he had crouched in front of the sofa, his hand linked with hers. "Hey.. it's not your fault doll face, no one could've seen this happening. You are our imprint, you are what matters the most to us, it could never be your fault, okay?" Paul kissed Y/n's knuckles, his lips ever so lightly grazing her skin. She sniffled slightly as she nodded her head. Y/n couldn't have been more happy to have the pack, she finally felt loved and included for once. The rest of the night consisted of watching random movies and eating too much junk, Y/n had passed out on Leah's shoulder after the second movie had started. She was soon followed by the rest of the pack, all spread out in the living room. Seth cuddling into Y/n's leg, Jacob flung half on Y/n while Leah was now hanging off the sofa, Paul laying beside Seth on the floor; his head on Seth's arm. Jared and Embry passed out on the arm chairs, their bodies thrown across them like they were dolls tossed to the side. Quil was the only normal one out the bunch, he was cuddled into a blanket away from everyone else, a pillow under his head as he snored.
Y/n had made a family for life, she would not give this up for anything.

Right Where I’m Meant To Be
Leah Clearwater x imprint!Swan!reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: Slight angst (?), a little bit of jealous Leah, Leah having a hard time showing she cares, Eclipse Jacob is his own warning, kind of ooc Leah (?), a little humor, this follows the plot of Eclipse, kissing, let me know if I missed anything.
--
To say you were shivering would be an understatement. You were laying in a tent, next a similar tent where your sister and her, now fiancé, on part of a mountain. Edward had killed another vampire who was after Bella, now the mate of said vampire is after Bella. In extension, she was after you too. The red headed vampire made a newborn army, which had the Cullen and the wolf pack join together to defeat them. Unfortunately, that meant your wolf had to fight too. While you were worried, you knew she could take care of herself. The battle was tomorrow, you and Bella were being kept up on the mountain, away from the newborns, for safety.
As if it couldn't get any worse, a storm moved in. You were shaking from how cold it was. You didn’t want to call for Leah, since she imprinted on you, it seemed like she hated you. But the colder it got; you had no choice.
“Leah?” You nervously, called for the she-wolf.
It was only a couple of seconds after you called out for you, you heard the sound of the tent unzipping.
Leah crawled in, “What?”, she asked, sounding more annoyed than she intended. You were too cold to acknowledge her tone.
“Can you lay with me? I feel like I’m turning into a popsicle.” You shivered out.
She sighed. She zipped up the tent before moving toward you. You lifted up the blanket, allowing her in. She laid in front of you and, much to your surprise, allowing you to lay your head on her chest. Leah slowly wrapped her arms around your middle, resting her chin on your head.
“Thank you.” You mumbled. Leah responded with a hum.
You were soaking in Leah being close to you when you heard unzipping from your sisters tent.
“I can’t sleep with all that teeth chattering going on,” you and Leah sighed in union, this can only go well.
“Forget it,” Edward exasperated, attempting to stop Jacob.
“She’s going to need her toes someday and let’s face it, I am hotter than you.” Jacob sassed, the last part having a double meaning.
“That’s debatable,” you snarked, making Leah pinch your side. “Ouch, I was just kidding.”
“I should be the only one you find hot.” She muttered bitterly. “To make it worse, you find a leech hot.”
“I didn’t mean it like that. I mean, a rock hotter than Jacob.” You joked, making her crack a smile. Before you could comment on it, you heard some sort of smacking sound.
“Get your hand off me.” Jacob demanded, angrily.
“Keep your hands off her.” Edward warned Jacob.
“Don’t fight,” Bella said, sounding like you just moments before you called for Leah.
“If she gets sick, it’s on you,” Jacob spit with venom in his voice. You guess it won Edward over as you heard the movement of the tent, a blanket, and Bella’s breathing get louder.
“Wow, you’re freezing Bella. Relax. You’ll warm up soon. Faster, if you took your clothes off.”
“Ew.” You muttered in disgust. You glanced up to see Leah scrunching her nose as if she smelt something horrid. Well, she can smell Edward.
“He’s so...punchable.” You commented. You heard Leah scoff from above you.
“Isn’t he though?” She whispered.
After that, you fell into silence. You were warm now, but you still couldn’t fall asleep and what do you do when you can’t sleep? Think. Maybe, you should try to talk to Leah while she’s right here? Find why she seems to hate you so much.
You knew there was so many ways this could go wrong, but you found yourself asking, “Leah? Are you still awake?”
“Yeah.” She replied. “What is it?” Now knowing she’s awake, you look up at her.
“Why do you hate me so much? What did I do?” You blurted out without thinking. You mentally cursed yourself for being so blunt. Now she’s going to leave, you thought.
Much to your surprise, she replies. “I don’t hate you.”
“But why do you give me the cold shoulder every time I try to talk to you or be around you?” You pried. You knew you were pushing your luck, but you couldn’t help it, you just wanted answers.
Leah sighed, looking anywhere, but at you. “I was trying to not get attached. I didn’t want you to leave me when you find someone better.” She admitted with a hint of sadness in her voice.
You sat up a bit to look at her better. “Leah, I’m not leaving you and I won’t ever. I haven’t known you long, but I know there’s no one better than you. The universe put us together for a reason, trust it and let me in. It might take you a while, but that’s ok. I’m willing to wait."
Leah sat up next you. “You would wait?” She finally looked at you. She had the most ‘kicked puppy’ look on her face you’ve ever seen and it broke your heart. "For me?”
You nodded. “I’m willing to wait an eternity if I have to.”
Leah tore her gaze from you when tears started to fill her eyes when she realized you were being sincere. She refused to let them fall. She didn’t want you to see her crying. You knew that. Even so, you wrapped your arms around her, resting your head on her shoulder to give some type of comfort.
You stayed like that until she laid down, taking you with her. You resumed your previous position, your head on her chest, her chin on your head. With that, you fell asleep.
--
Waking up, you were alone. Slowly, you got up, unzipping, and walking of the tent to see Seth in his wolf form.
“Hey, Seth.” You greeted him, petting his big head.
You unzipping next to you. You looked over and saw Bella coming out of her tent. You guess Jacob and Edward already left since she came out alone. She sent a tight smile your way as a greeting. You sent on back as you heard footsteps.
You and Bella looked in the direction it was coming from, Edward and Leah were wandering towards you. Both going to their respective Swans.
“Where’s Jacob? Did he already...?” Bella wondered before Edward cut her off.
“Not yet, he’s checking to see if the woods are clear before he goes.” He informed her.
Edward glance at you, Leah, and Seth. Taking the hint, Leah grabbed your hand, strolling past them while Seth went another direction. She took you to a ledge overlooking part of the forest on the mountain. She sat down with you following suit.
It was quiet for a minute until Leah turned to look at you. “When this is all over and if we survive-”
“We will.” She playfully glared at you for interrupting her.
“And when we survive.” She corrected herself. “Would you like to try a romantic relationship out? If not, we can just go for a friendship. If you don’t want that, the-”
“Yes,” You stopped her rambling. “I would love to try out a relationship with you.” She smiled. It was cute to see her bashful.
Leah leaned closer, causing you to lean in. You were so close, you could feel her hot breath on your lips. She leaned in closer and-
“Jake, stop! Jake, please!” You heard your sister yell. You both separated and turned around to see what was going on.
“I’m done. I’m so done.” Jacob turned to Bella.
“W-w-what can I do?” Bella stuttered.
“You can’t do anything. I can. By going out there a killing something.” A little overdramatic, are we?
“No! Just- You're not thinking clearly. Don’t do that.”
“Or maybe I’ll get myself killed and make it simple for you.”
You started getting up when Leah pulled you back down.
“Lee, he’s manipulating my sister. I can’t just sit here and do nothing.” You tried getting out of her grip, but she was strong than you.
“I know, I’d be upset to if that was Seth, but- Oh my gosh.” You stopped struggling when you saw how baffled she was. Looking over to your sister, she was making out with Jacob.
“Oh, that’s all sorts of wrong.” You muttered. “She’s engaged to Edward and she’s doing this?”
“Yeah, she’s something else.” Leah paused. “I have to go.” She said standing up. “Don’t leave Seth or Edward’s side.”
You stood up and hugged her tightly. “Be careful, please.” She wrapped her arms around you.
“I will, I promise.” She let go of you. You watched her leave until she wasn’t in sight anymore.
You walked to where Edward and Bella were now standing.
“You saw?” Bella asked.
“No, but Jacob’s thoughts were pretty loud.” That must’ve hurt him.
“I don’t know what happened.”
“You love him.”
“I love you more.” She really is something special, huh? Edward chuckled, glancing at you. He must’ve heard your thoughts.
“I know.”
Seth trotted through some bushes, stopping next to Edward.
“It’s starting.”
--
The battle was over. As far as you knew, no one was hurt.
Victoria followed Edward’s sent, knowing Bella would be with him. She wasn’t alone, so Edward sent you with Seth and you stayed hidden until Seth brought you out.
Walking out into the clearing behind Edward and Bella, you saw the Cullens in front of a fire. The bodies must have been the newborns. To your right was Leah in front of a giant rock. She turned to look at you, looked as if she was going to come to you until she caught the scent of another newborn. Leah spun around, wasting no time to go for him.
“Leah, don’t.” Edward yelled, making you panic.
When you glanced back at Leah, the newborn had his arms around her neck. Jacob ran past you, almost knocking you over. He jumped over Leah taking the newborn with him. Jacob rolled around with the vampire before--
Crack
The vampire broke his ribs before dropping him. Paul and Sam were quick to tear the newborn apart. Jacob phased back to his human form. You and Bella raced towards him. By time you got there, Carlisle and Edward were checking him over.
“Bella.”
“Jake, I’m right here.” Bella reassured him.
The wolf pack ran out from behind the rock in their human forms.
“Jacob, you idiot, I had it!” Leah yelled, clearly in distress.
“Leah!” Sam reprimanded her.
“I need to reset the bones before his accelerated healing kicks in. It’s already starting.” Carlisle state, looking over Jacob.
“Well, we need to get him out of here. We don’t want a fight with the Volturi.” Edward pushed.
“We’ll take him back to Billy’s.” Sam suggested.
Carlisle nodded. “I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
“Hang in there, Jake.” Bella said before backing away from him. You walk to stand beside her.
The pack had picked Jacob up and were walking to Billy's.
“Go, it’s not a good idea if the Volturi knows you exist.” You nodded, quickly following behind the pack.
--
You were standing behind Leah as she paced back and forth in front of you. The wolves, you, Emily, and Billy were standing outside Billy’s house while Carlisle rebroke Jacob's ribs. The screams coming from Jacob were hard to listen to. You tried ignoring it.
Your sister’s truck pulled up. She immediately got out, slamming to truck door close.
“Hey,” Bella started before Jacob's screams cut her off.
“It’s been going on for a while.” Quil begin.
“Doc’s rebreaking his bones.” Embry finished for him.
Leah spoke up, “Why’d he have to butt in, I could’ve taken that tick-.”
“Oh, give it a rest, Leah.” Paul said, causing you and Leah to glare at him.
The door opened, Carlisle and Sam stepped out.
“The worst is over. He’ll be alright.” Everyone took a breath of relief at Carlisle’s words. “I gave him some morphine, but his body temperature will burn it off soon. I’ll come back to set up a drip.”
“Thank you.” Billy offered him his hand. Carlisle took it and shake it.
Carlisle turned to Bella. “He’s asking for you.”
Bella looked at Billy for permission before looking at you. “I’ll see you at home.” You nodded, watching as she went inside.
Everyone dispersed after that. Sam helped Billy back inside before taking Emily home, the rest of the pack went home while Leah took you home.
--
It’s been a month since the battle. Bella and Edward told Charlie about the engagement, he wasn’t very happy, but accepted it anyway. When the wedding invitations were sent out, Jacob disappeared to who-knows-where. Everything with the vampire world was calm for now. Nobody was in danger for once.
You and Leah were happy. She’s been taking you out on dates, sneaking into your room at night to cuddle when your dad was home. You got her to open up a bit, not much, but it was progress.
You were drying your hair after your shower when Leah climbed through your window. You put your towel in your laundry basket, running up to her to greet her.
“HI, Lee.” You hugged her.
“Hi.” She hugged back.
“How was patrol?” You asked, dragging her to your bed to cuddle.
“Sucked as usual. Paul and Jared trying to figure out what would go into a sandwich named after them. Embry and Quil going on and on about The Game of Thrones. You know, the usual.” She rambled a bit.
“I’m about curious about what Paul and Jared came up with.” Leah playfully scoffed.
“You don’t want to know, trust me.” She said dramatically, causing you giggle. She cracked a smile.
You slowly stopped, getting lost in each other's eyes. Leah raised a hand up, pushing your still damp hair behind your ear.
“Thank you, for dealing with me. I know it wasn’t easy. But you stuck by me and made me realize I’m standing right where I’m meant to be.” Leah spilt her heart out to you.
“Always.” You muttered.
“I love you.” Leah whispered before kissing you. It was slow and filled with passion. Like she was trying to give all her love through the kiss and you gave it right back.
Pulling back, you smiled at her. “I love you too.”

Don't think about Emily and Leah's resentment towards Sam for tearing them apart. Don't think about Emily going crazy between the wolf she has loved since a child and the wolf she has loved since the past two years, both her soulmates as far as she is concerned. Don't think about Leah wanting her sister back, but there's so much distance and her dad's dead and she's kind of been numb since then and she simply doesn't have the energy. Don't think about Sam feeling his soulmate's resentment, but too afraid to ask her because he may be the big bad wolf, but he is also a 20 something year old kid who was so lonely, his only comfort being Emily. Don't think about Emily wanting Leah back and Leah wanting Emily back and it's no longer about Sam, it never was, but about two girls, two best friends, two sisters who never drifted apart. Don't think about Emily wishing late into the nights that Leah was apart of the pack so she could know the truth. Don't think about Leah thanking the moon some day that she became a wolf because it got her her sister back finally. Because come what may, they will find their way back to each other.

Stay - Paul Lahote X Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Happy 2024! I honestly didn't know what to call this, but I just kept writing and now I'll probably need a part 2 🙃 enjoy 💕 2.8K words
"You have no idea how excited I am. I mean just how long have I been begging you to come live with me?" Emily grinned into the phone that was tucked between her shoulder and ear. She paced the kitchen while whisking a bowl of brownie mix, mindlessly chatting away.
"I must warn you though that the house does get chaotic. But the boys are pretty good about keeping up after themselves," she said while swatting away Embry's hand that almost made a dip in the bowl. He put his hands up in self defense as she rolled her eyes.
"Sounds great. Sam will pick you up at the airport tomorrow at noon. Let me know if you need anything else, and have a safe flight. I love you!" She she set the bowl on the counter, hanging up the phone.
"Was that Y/N? She's moving in tomorrow?" Quil questioned from the table with a mouth full of chips.
"Yes, and I trust that you boys will be on your best behavior in welcoming her..." Emily raised her eyebrow as she pointed a dripping whisk of batter at all the men now surrounding the kitchen.
"Depends, is she hot?" Embry snickered as he sat down.
"Oh....she is." Quil emphasized with wide eyes.
"Get it Embry!" Paul snorted as he clapped him on the back, reaching over into Quil's bag of chips.
"They WILL be on their best behavior. And no one will be 'getting' shit." The booming voice of Sam emerged behind Emily, wrapping his arms around her torso.
He reached his head over her shoulder as she let him lick what was left on the whisk, earning a disgusted "Seriously?" from Quil.
"Hey, but what if she's my imprint??" Embry held his up his finger to argue.
"You know that would be a different story...but we know already she isn't Quil's" Sam smirked at the youngest pack members now disappointed face.
"You guys are kidding right? I've seen pictures. Shes insanely out of all your leagues." Jacob quipped as he strolled to the living room.
"Anything is better than my crushes newborn infant..." Embry muttered under his breath, making all the boys cower in laughter.
"Oh yeah? You wanna say that again?" Jacob challenged.
Sam walked around in between them, looking from side to side at them both.
"THIS is what Emily is talking about. Keep the fights outside boys. I mean it. Just because Y/N knows about the pack doesn't mean she won't get scared if you clowns nearly phase in the kitchen. Are we clear?"
The two reluctantly nodded, Jacob sulking away to the living room.
"But come on, that was kinda funny.." Embry whispered, making the other boys giggle.
Paul shook his head with a smile at his little brother, leaving the room to shower before dinner.
-
There was something about the conversation that stuck with Paul throughout the night. Since Sam had met Emily, all of his brothers wanted imprints. They all saw what it was like to have one up close, and craved it desperately. He grimaced at the thought. The idea of a "soulmate" sounded ridiculous to Paul.
The problem wasn't that he didn't believe in it. Anybody could see the intense love that imprints had for one another, their bond growing with them until old age.
But Paul was not familiar with the term love. He never did get to see the love between his father and mother. She had been his imprint, but passed long before Paul could remember much about her. He watched his father struggle emotionally, never being able to get through the grief of her loss. Sure, he raised Paul as best he could, but deep down it was his mother that would have filled the void in their quiet house.
Things did get a little brighter when Paul joined the pack. For the first time he truly felt like he was part of a real family. He came home to hot meals, genuine laughter, and lively conversation. Not only had he gained a group of brothers, but ones with unwavering loyalty. None of them ever strayed away when Paul lost control of his temper, and were the first ones to help him learn to control it.
Maybe that was the reason he never looked for anything serious when it came to women. What was the point? One little outburst and they were out the door quicker than they had come in. He didn't allow himself to feel anything for them, because they'd end up leaving, and he was saving himself the heart break anyways.
Paul lay awake that night certain about one thing, he didn't need an imprint.
-
You inhaled the crisp fall air. Smiling wide as you looked up the steps to the new home awaiting you, the patio adorned in different flowers and cutesy outdoor decor.
"Oh Em it's just how I remember. You always make it look so cozy," you said as you squeezed the arm of your cousin beside you.
She returned your same smile.
"You're too sweet. I just can't believe you're really here. Come on, I'll introduce you to the boys."
You followed her up the steps, walking through the door to the warm smell of baked goods, no doubt that Emily had been up all night. You chuckled to yourself as you remember how she would go overboard on food whenever she was excited about something and couldn't sleep.
What you weren't used to, however, was being greeted by the several shirtless men. All incredibly in shape with tattoos on their arms, you might have been intimidated if it weren't for their cheesy smiles.
Emily gestured to each of them,
"You remember Quil, and that's Embry, Jacob, Seth, andddd well," she looked around puzzled for a moment. "I guess I'll introduce you to Paul whenever he comes around."
You waved at Quil and shook the other's hands.
There must have been some sort of inside joke, because as you finished with introductions you saw Sam laugh while they collectively let out a small sigh.
You don't think you were meant to hear it, but you caught Sam whisper at Embry,
"Better luck next time kid."
Emily didn't make a big deal of whatever it was, guiding you to your room.
After you got settled in, you found yourself strolling the hallway, looking over all the framed pictures on the wall. You had been over the moon when Emily had found Sam. You've never seen her so happy before, and you could tell he looked at her in the exact same way.
Not paying attention when the bathroom door opened, you collided with a large bare chest that stepped into the hall.
You gasped as two strong arms to match caught you before you fell, luckily, and you embarrassingly faced the one man you of course had no former introduction with.
"I am so, so sorry. I-"
"No no it's fine, are you-"
Both of you started and stopped mid sentence. Your attention had been captured when you two locked eyes. It was like you had been anchored to the floor by them. This warm, fuzzy energy had your entire body buzzing. It was so silent that you could hear your own blood flow in your ears. You furrowed your eyebrows in the haze. What the hell...
"ARE YOU SHITTING ME??"
A loud voice cut through the trance and you flinched at the abrupt sound. The man held you slightly tighter for a moment, as if he was about to protect you from whatever had interrupted you both in this hypnotic state.
Turning around so you both could see that the voice had been Embry, the man looked back and quickly dropped his arms, as if he just realized he had been holding you that whole time.
An unfamiliar emptiness lingered when he let go. He quickly averted his gaze, mumbling another apology before brushing past you, into a room, shutting the door.
-
His imprint. Right there. In the hallway of his own home.
Paul couldn't breathe.
He sat on the edge of his bed, nervously running his hands through his hair in a panic.
You were beautiful.
Breathtaking.
Your smell was intoxicating and your skin was so, so very soft. Your voice sounded like an angel. Your hair-
No.
No, he couldn't let himself think like this. He didn't need an imprint. Didn't even want one in the first place.
Was this some kind of sick joke the universe was playing on him? This girl could have anyone she wants. Why him?
Emily's call for dinner had him taking deep breaths. He could do this. They could live amongst eachother and not have to talk. There's ton of people in this house, it would be rare that the two of them would ever be alone. Right? Right. He could do this.
He walked into the bathroom, splashing cold water on his face. Wake up. It's just some girl. No different than the many that he had been with. Hell, if he could have sex with someone and never think of them again, he could do it. They had barely exchanged a sentence. Barely touched. He would be fine.
-
You sat down at the table, trying to behave as normal as possible. What happened in the hall was nothing. Whiplash. Yes, it was probably the whiplash from running into him. The poor guy seemed shy, and he was most likely just as shook up as you. It was a small accident and nothing more. He certainly didn't seem angry or upset, just caught off guard.
But wow....was he handsome. Certainly more attractive than any lousy guy you'd ever been with. He had this aroma of sandalwood and forest that was enchanting.
Okay, slow down Y/N. Let's not walk in on the first day and jump on some guy. After all, you two are going to be living together. Maybe don't make him uncomfortable in his own home. You shook your head to yourself. Just forget about the whole thing and it will be fine.
Luckily, Emily had started conversations around the table, easily able to take your mind elsewhere.
That was, until he came in the room. There was a beat of silence when he entered, the other boys seeming to look at him like they were anticipating something. When he didn't make a sound or even look up to anyone, slumping at the table and taking a plate, the conversations arose again.
Dinner was excellent as usual for Emily's cooking, and besides your beating heart constantly begging you to look at the man near the end of the table, it was almost normal.
It was when Emily put delicious brownies on the table, that it took a turn for the worse.
"I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU AGAIN. SHUT THE FUCK ALONE ABOUT IT" Everyone's head turned to the angry voice. It was him. He was so visibly upset that he was shaking, staring daggers at Embry beside him. Slamming his fists on the table as he stood up, you let an audible gasp slip.
That's when he looked at you for the second time that night. It was a far reach, but somehow you saw his eyes soften. The crinkles of anger in his eyebrows vanished, and he swallowed, before bolting out the door. Sam immediately followed, and Emily sighed, reaching out to touch your arm.
"I'm sorry about Paul. He's very.....expressive sometimes."
Paul.
-
"Leave me alone Sam."
Paul sighed through the mind link, his large wolf racing through the trees.
He didn't mean it. He never means it. But Embry would simply not stop talking. First it was meaningless. He asked what imprinting felt like. Paul had shrugged it off as nothing crazy, hoping he'd drop it there. Then, he had asked him if he planned on pursuing the imprint. Of course he told him he wasn't. He didn't need a soulmate. No matter what his instincts told him. But then, Embry had smiled and thanked him, telling him that you were now "fair game".
That had been when he lost it.
He stopped on the edge of a cliff, breathing in the fresh water air. Sam slowly approached his side.
"Embry only said that to get a rise out of you, you know."
Paul scoffed.
"He can do whatever he wants. I don't care about her."
"Oh you don't?" Sam didn't sound so convinced.
"Even if I did, she wouldn't want me. Did you....did you see the look on her face when I yelled?" Paul replayed it over and over. You had looked absolutely frightened.
"There is a reason she was chosen to be your imprint Paul. You don't know Y/N. She is patient, and most of all understanding. If you talked to her-"
"I don't need to talk to her. I am perfectly fine alone. I don't need a woman, and I definitely don't need an imprint."
Sam sighed.
"Paul. You can do what you want. I'm not the type of alpha to force you to love someone. But believe me when I say that I had a dark past. I was also comfortable with being alone. Emily is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Having a conversation with her doesn't mean there will be wedding bells tomorrow. All I'm saying is you don't know unless you try."
Paul nodded, and Sam left him with his thoughts.
-
You stared at the numbers on your phone screen. 2:00am. You huffed in frustration. Your mind had been a constant replay of the events today, your mind spiraling. You had settled on the fact things around here were weird, when you had visited Emily and accidentally caught sight of Sam in wolf form. But this energy couldn't have anything to do with that. Could it?
You decided to make yourself some tea to try and relax. Knowing Emily you knew there had to be some in the kitchen. You tip toed in the dark, your body stiffening as you recognized a familiar muscular back that sat at the kitchen table in a dim light.
You were ready to retreat back to your room when he turned his head around to look at you.
Damn, wolves must have good hearing.
"I was just....going to make some tea.." you pointed to the cabinet awkwardly.
He nodded, looking back down at what appeared to be a cup of coffee.
He couldn't sleep either?
You mindlessly tapped your fingers against the counter as you awaited the kettle, praying that if you stared at it long enough, it would speed up the process.
-
Fuck, was this torture. You were like a goddess, standing there in your pajamas, hair astray and up in a haphazard bun. He imagined walking up behind you, wrapping his arms around you, soaking in your warmth while he pressed gentle kisses on your neck. He wondered what it sounded like to hear you laugh...
STOP STARING. Say something. Anything. Just. Try.
He cleared his throat. It must have startled you because you quickly turned to face him.
"I'm...sorry. About what you saw earlier. That's not like me. I-Embry, he can get under my skin sometimes," he rubbed the back of his head.
"But that's no excuse. I'm-um, Im Paul, by the way."
He lifted his hand up in an almost wave. Why was he so awkward? He was never this way with women.
You giggled, and suddenly, he felt like he was in heaven.
"Y/N. And no worries at all, Emily said you can be....'expressive' sometimes."
He chuckled.
"That's one word for it. But I just don't want to scare you off..."
"Well. I think if knowing that you can all turn into a large creatures who can rip me apart and that doesn't scare me away, I think you were okay." You smiled. He could look at that smile forever.
-
He was actually talking to you. Man, was his laugh so perfect. You could talk with him forever.
The kettle screeched, and you reluctantly made your tea.
"Well....I guess I'll see you around, Paul." You took your mug and headed for your room.
-
His name on her tongue. He wanted her to say it again.
"You can stay. If-if you want. I, uh, I don't...know much about you."
You smiled.
"I'd like that."
To be continued......

okay, so hear me out a horny embry having uncontrollable steamy thoughts about his imprint on duty 😉
PLEASE😩
...
"what are you-" sam started as jared came into the house, just having barely pulled his shorts on as he stepped into emily's kitchen.
"i can't listen to that guy's head anymore," jared cut off sam to explain, letting out a loud groan as he sat down in the chair next to you as he turned to look at you, "like i love you both but holy shit i did not need to see an image of you naked like that," he groaned again, dropping his head back and closing his eyes as he took a few deep breaths.
you let out a quiet giggle, looking over to emily who also laughed, "he was thinking about y/n?" emily asked softly, a teasing tone lacing her words that had you giggling again as you waited for jared's response.
"not just thinking about her," he grumbled, "the insane sex positions that man was thinking about you in is going to be hard to wash from my mind," he whined, throwing his arm over his eyes as he tried to get the mental imagine out of his head.
jacob chuckled from his spot across from you, "worse than the one of paul and rachel?" he asked teasingly, sam and jared both letting out loud groans at the obscene memory paul now had in all of their heads.
"definitely worse," jared grumbled, eliciting a round of laughs from all of you. you rolled your eyes with a giggle, getting up and heading outside only to see embry walking towards you with just a pair of low hanging sweatpants on.
"embry," you giggled, squealing when he picked you up and threw you over his shoulder, "i heard you were having some lewd thoughts," you laughed as he carried you over to your car, quickly getting you in the passenger seat before coming around to the driver's side.
"couldn't keep thinking about it anymore," he quickly explained, leaning over to press a quick kiss to your lips before he was driving back to your apartment to show you just what he was daydreaming about.

Be Somebody to Someone 3/4
You've lived your entire life in Forks, Washington without anyone paying too close attention to you. Then you befriend the new girl and suddenly you find yourself friends with the unexpected. And maybe even something more if a certain shapeshifter stops denying the Fates.
PART ONE | PART TWO | PART THREE | PART FOUR
Tumblr media
Words: 4.4K Author's Note: Mentions brief assault.
Hearing you're someone's soulmate- er, imprint- should have been world changing all on its own, but hearing you were someone's unwanted imprint completely overrode anything and everything you had been feeling. You weren't as close to Paul as you were to a couple of the others, so you aren't sure why his words hurt so much.
Fortunately for you, Jacob Black is a pretty decent friend and shows up later that night to explain the entire imprint situation to you. It makes you feel a little uncomfortable knowing that the pack has no say so in whoever they imprint on, but according to Jacob it isn't all that bad. Sam's imprint was Emily and, though they had a rocky start, they are perfectly happy. Jared was the only other shifter who had imprinted and, according to Jacob, Kim was very much in love and loved by Jared.
Hearing how Emily and Kim are perfectly doted on by Sam and Jared makes you yearn for someone of your own, but you refuse to let Jacob realize that. Especially after Paul's words keep replaying over and over in your head.
I didn't want you.
So instead of worrying about a relationship that was obviously never going to be, you vow to focus on your final year of school. And taking more edibles than you were comfortable with to ease the consistent ache in your chest.
Over the next few months, you divide your time between Forks and La Push.
You are hesitant to keep up the visits to the reservation, but remembering that the imprint bond would hurt Paul if you were to cut off all associations kept you visiting more frequently than you had intentionally planned. Emily was more than happy to have you come around, happy to see her friendship with you didn't suffer, but it was plain to see how your walls went up the moment any of the shifters made themselves known.
Ignoring the bond obviously put a strain on Paul and seeing it made you soften towards him. He might have broken your heart, but you weren't mean enough to hold a grudge and make his suffering worse, even if the newly shifted Leah suggested he deserved the cold shoulder. So whenever you caught his gaze, you offered him a timid smile to ease some of his worries. There were even times when you would be seated next to him at Emily's table and you'd let your knee rest against his thigh to make him relax.
When Prom eventually rolled around, initially you weren't going to go. Bella and her tiny demon of a best friend Alice nagged and nagged, and it wasn't until Rosalie showed you pictures of a dress that she liked for you did you eventually agree.
So the night of prom finds you furiously screeching to a stop in front of Emily's home, marching into her home in your two-piece burgundy prom dress- midriff exposed and the slit in your skirt riding a little too high on your thigh- with a sash and crown gripped in hand.
Emily and the pack stare at you, Paul's eyes bugging incredulously.
"YN.." Emily cautiously approaches. "What happened?"
"I'm gonna murder a teeny tiny vampire and I need some help."
She blinks before her lips twitch. "And why are you plotting murder?"
"Rigging the prom election so my name would be on the ballot is one thing, but rigging the entire thing so I had to walk on stage in front of everyone?! Inexcusable!" The entire kitchen is quiet until Jacob snorts and then everyone's laughing. You stomp your foot. "It's not funny."
"It kind of is," Embry muses.
"Are you seriously upset that you won prom queen?" Jacob asks.
"Yes! It was embarrassing." You frown. "I had to dance with some moron who didn't even know my name. He only knew me as stoner girl."
"Regardless of how the night went," Emily says, "you need to breathe and let me take a picture of you because that dress is gorgeous."
You stare incredulously at Emily before your shoulders sag and the giggles set in. You finally let the annoyance go and find the humor in the entire situation, and subject yourself to the inevitable photo session you're about to partake in.
Emily directs you outside so you have the forest as a backdrop, and then she takes your picture without the crown and sash. Afterwards, you put the sash and crown on for another picture, and then instruct Sam to take the next picture because you want one with Emily. The pack, with the exception of Leah, get in on the pictures as well and there's a brief lull in the chaotic atmosphere when Jared suggests you take a picture with Paul. Everyone had quieted, staring between you and Paul, and you slowly grinned.
"I'll take a picture with you if you wear the sash," you had told him. Paul seemed to relax at your olive branch, grinning back at you as he agreed.
Anytime you interacted with Paul, his words remained at the forefront of your mind. You did your best to remain cordial with him, much to everyone's relief, and even invited him to your graduation.
Well technically you invited Emily and Sam- giving them a few tickets while telling them to pass them out to whoever. You knew the entire pack couldn't go because of some redheaded vampire that'd been testing everyone's patience- intent on getting to Bella apparently- and they had to protect the res, but you would take what you could get since only your parents were going for you.
So on the day of graduation, you're pleasantly happy to see Emily, Sam and Paul sitting in the crowd- well away from Carlisle and Esme who had attended for Jasper, Alice, Edward and Bella. And when it's your turn to walk the stage when your name's called, you glare at the ones who cheered loudest for you- Sam, Paul, Jasper and Alice. You even glared at Edward and Bella for good measure when they laughed at your misfortune.
Then after taking the obligatory pictures with your parents and friends, Bella and Alice make sure you head over to the Cullen household for a grad party.
"Do you really have to go to the house full of leeches?" Paul grumbles.
You glance at him, appreciating the black button up and dark washed jeans he'd sported for the ceremony, and shrug. "Yep. I've survived this long surrounded by vampires, I'm not gonna deprive myself of this last party."
"Well congratulations again," Emily says before Paul can retort. "Have fun and we'll see you tomorrow."
"Sure. Thanks, Em!"
Paul huffs and stomps off, and you roll your eyes as you hug the imprinted duo in front of you before sending them off.
Later that night and two edibles deep, you dopily grin as Jessica and Angela try to carry on a whispered conversation about the house they had finally been invited to. The party Alice had planned was a hit with all the now ex-students and the food was surprisingly really good.
Happily filling a plastic cup with skittles from the candy table, you whine when Bella grasps onto your wrist and starts to drag you away. "Noooo. I wasn't done."
"You have enough skittles. I need help with the party crashers."
"Party crashers?" As Bella leads you towards one side of the room, your eyes light up at the sight of Jacob, Paul and Quil. "Guys! Hey, look. Alice got a candy table and there were so many skittles!"
The three Quileutes grin as you grab some skittles, tipping your head back and then dropping the candy into your mouth.
"What are you doing here?" Bella asks, tone suddenly annoyed.
Chewing, you frown at your friend. Jacob, however, grins. "You invited me, remember?"
"My fist to your face was me disinviting you."
You snort as the memory of Bella telling you she'd punched Jacob resurfaces. But before he can say anything else on the matter, Bella sees something from the corner of her eye. "Alice?"
You turn just as Edward and Jasper appear at Alice's side, and you follow after Bella with the Quileutes following you.
"What'd you see?" Bella asks.
Alice's eyes flutter as she frowns. "The decision has been made."
"What's going on?" Jacob asks, but goes ignored.
Bella seems to comprehend what she's not saying. "You're not going to Seattle?"
"No." The pixie vampire frowns. "They're coming here."
Edward's eyes suddenly widen and then he's grasping onto Bella's hand. "We need to talk. Everyone get to Carlisle's study. Now."
The Quileutes glance at you and you shrug. "He said everyone. Let's go."
When you step inside Carlisle's study, you're not surprised to see Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie and Emmett already there.
"What's going on?" Carlisle asks.
"They'll be here in four days," Alice tells him.
"This could turn into a bloodbath." You've never seen Doctor Cullen look even the teensiest bit shaken, so to see him falter now makes you uneasy. "Who's behind it?"
"I didn't see anyone I recognized. Maybe one.."
"I know his face," Edward says, again reading his sister's mind. "He's local. Riley Biers."
"That kid who went missing like a year ago?" You ask.
Edward nods and the Quileutes glance between everyone, the conversation not making any sense to them. "He didn't start this though," Edward then says. "Whoever did this is staying out of the action."
"They must be playing with the blind spots in your vision," Jasper drawls.
"Either way," Carlisle says, "the army is coming and there aren't enough of us to protect the town."
"Hold up," Jacob speaks up, finally annoyed at being out of the loop. "What damn army?"
"Newborns. Our kind." Carlisle's words make dread fill you.
"What are they after?" You feel Paul and Quil close in on you, and you gulp as Jacob takes charge of asking the questions now.
"They were passing around Bella's scent," Alice says. "A red blouse."
"They're after Bella?" You shakily ask, glancing worriedly at your friend.
"What the hell does this mean?" Paul then asks.
"It means an ugly fight with lives lost," Carlisle answers.
Jacob glances at Paul and Quil before nodding at Carlisle. "Alright. We're in."
"No." Bella's outright refusal shocks you. "You'll get yourselves killed. No way."
"I wasn't asking for permission."
"Edward," she then tries to plead with her boyfriend.
"It means more protection for you," he says instead.
"Jacob, do you believe Sam will agree to an understanding?" Carlisle wonders.
He shrugs. "As long as we get to kill some vampires."
"Jasper?" Carlisle turns to his other son.
"They'll give us the numbers and the newborns won't know they even exist."
"That'll give us an edge," Emmett muses, grinning at the thought of a fight.
"We'll need to coordinate."
"Carlisle, they'll get hurt," Bella says.
"We'll all need some training. Fighting newborns requires knowledge that Jasper has." Then glancing at the shifters, Carlisle tells them, "You're welcome to join us."
Jacob nods as Paul and Quil grumble in agreement. "Just name the time and place."
"Jake." Bella's pleading expression sits wrong with you, and even Paul doesn't seem to appreciate her trying to keep them out of the fight. "You don't know what you're getting yourself into."
"Bella, this is what we do. You should be happy," he then tells her. "Look at us, working together. You're the one who wanted us to get along, remember?"
Bella glances between him and Edward, then turns towards you in hopes of getting you to make them see reason. "YN, say something! Surely you don't want Paul out there fighting."
You wince and Jacob steps directly in front of you, shielding you from her view when Paul starts to tremble in anger. Everything between you and Paul was still fragile and you didn't appreciate her throwing your imprint business out there like that.
"It's done. We're fighting," Jacob says. He glances over at Carlisle then. "You can call YN with the details. She'll relay it to us."
"We will. Thank you, Jacob."
You decide to leave with the boys, no longer interested in the party. And when you step outside the household, Paul immediately asks for your keys. "I'm driving."
And not wanting to argue, you hand them over. Jacob and Quil continue on the driveway to Jacob's father's truck, and then all too soon you're on the road to La Push.
The drive is uncomfortably quiet, the enclosed space of Jeep thick with tension.
"I know I've still been a bit of a dick," you snort at his words, "but I have a favor to ask."
"Shoot."
"When the newborns come, I want you on the res with Emily."
"What about my parents?"
"I'm sure the leeches will find a secluded spot for the fight and we'll do our damnedest to prevent any other leeches from making a run into town."
After a moment of thinking about it, you agree. "Okay. When we know the exact day of the fight, I'll pack an overnight bag for the night before."
He exhales with relief. "Thanks."
Tumblr media
When Alice texts you with the time and place for the pack to meet with them, you alert Jacob of it who passes it on to Sam. And now that you've graduated, it's easier to spend all the time in the world down in La Push since you put off community college for a year or so.
Then when you know the exact day of the newborn fight, Emily prepares her guest room for you and you stay the night before the fight is to take place.
"Are you okay?" Emily asks when you're seated at her table.
Knee bouncing beneath the table, your hands wrap around a cup of hot chocolate. "Yeah. I just- I'm worried, you know?"
"I know." She smiles while taking a seat across from you. "But the pack was made for this. They're going to be okay."
"They better."
Emily tries to keep you occupied over the next couple of hours, but you're too anxious to really be of any help. And just when you feel like you can't wait any longer, Emily's house phone rings and she's quick to rush and answer it.
"Hello?" She pauses, listening. "Yeah. Okay. We'll be right there."
As she hangs up, your heart starts to beat double. "What happened?"
"Jacob was injured. We need to get to Billy's."
And just like that, your earlier fears come back tenfold.
You toss your keys to Emily, letting her drive your Jeep. She drives as fast as she can and makes it to the Black residence in no time. Then the two of you are jumping out of your vehicle and rushing towards the pack who are lingering outside, surrounding Billy Black.
Sam isn't outside, so Emily joins Sue Clearwater to console Billy. You step up to Paul's side, your arm brushing his and you inhale sharply when he automatically wraps his arm around the back of your shoulders to pull you into his side.
No one says a word, but then Jacob's agonizing scream pierces the air and you wince.
"It's been going on for a while," Paul murmurs. "Doc's rebreaking his bones."
Across from you, Leah huffs. "Why'd he have to butt in? I could've taken that tick."
"Oh give it a rest, Leah," Jared says.
A vehicle, fast approaching, catches everyone's attention, and it's Leah who scoffs when she notices it's Bella. Your friend jumps out of the truck and rushes towards the group, but the screen door creaking open catches everyone's attention. Everyone seems to hold their breath as Sam escorts Carlisle out.
"The worst is over," Carlisle tells Billy. "He'll be alright." Everyone seems to exhale with relief. "I gave him some morphine, but his body temperature will burn it off soon. I'll come back to set up a drip."
Billy, with tears in his eyes, nods at Carlisle. "Thank you."
Carlisle nods and then glances at Bella. "He's asking for you."
She nods and hurries into the house.
Once everyone can breathe a little easier, Paul pulls his arm back and immediately goes to Sam. You frown, resignation sinking in once more, and you look around just to see Leah shaking her head at you. She then turns a glare on Paul, puffing up, and you can practically hear the rant she has prepared for her pack brother. But after quickly shaking your head at her, expression pleading for her to not say anything, she rolls her eyes and walks off.
You gulp and then take a moment to settle your breathing before approaching Billy. "I'm glad Jacob's going to be okay."
"Thank you."
Then glancing up at Emily, you say, "I'm gonna head out. Do you want a ride back?"
"I can catch a ride with Sue."
"Okay." You glance at Paul, but he's staring at you as if you leaving means nothing. You were hoping to hear him mention that he wanted you to stay or at least show that he was anxious about you leaving, but.. nothing.
So with a heavy heart, you take your keys back from Emily and leave the reservation.

As the weeks pass on by with no incident, everyone finally starts to relax.
You're still not doing much, with the exception of keeping up with the house chores so your parents have no reason to threaten you with homelessness and visiting with Emily, that you have a bad feeling when Bella personally delivers her wedding invitation to your house. You're happy for your friend, of course, but you know one person who was not going to be. And sure enough, when the Blacks get a wedding invitation, Jacob runs away.
And since you and Paul are still in a weird place, you take no issue with Sam when he sends Paul and Quil to search for their packmate.
You eventually find yourself visiting with the house full of vampires, sitting in on the wedding planning to pass some time. But seeing everyone happily coupled up starts to get to you. Only Bella and Edward know the reason for your sudden melancholy, and thankfully they never mention anything about you and Paul.
Angela and Jessica, who were still sticking around Forks, decide to get you out and about one day in order to cheer you up. Jessica decides on a club in Seattle and, since there was no newborn army to worry about, you agree. However, vampires were apparently not the only threat you had to worry about.
Humans were capable of shitty behavior and unfortunately you ended up in one of the shittiest situations you ever found yourself in.
The club Jessica had chosen was for eighteen and up, so of course the creeps had come out to play. Everything was fine for a while, the three of you dancing and drinking soda. For a moment you forgot all about a certain shifter in La Push and actually had some fun. But then you excused yourself to the bathrooms and that's when your night took a turn for the worse.
Your phone had been on silent which is why you never noticed Alice calling because if you had, you would have been warned about the attack.
One moment you were walking down the hallway to rejoin your friends when you saw a drunk approaching. You attempted to avoid eye contact, but apparently that wasn't enough to dissuade him from chatting you up. You tried to be polite when telling him you weren't interested and had friends you needed to get back to, but he was persistent. He even grabbed your bicep to keep you in place in the darkened hallway, and when you opened your mouth to yell, his hand clamped over your mouth.
Panic overrode everything you felt, and you struggled to get out of the man's grasp. You felt a heavy weight hit your right cheekbone before hands grasped at your shoulders, snapping one of the straps to your shirt. You were able to shout then, but the music covered it up. And thankfully someone else decided to walk down the hall, shouting at your attacker and making him freeze. Seeing a moment, you pushed him backwards and kneed him in the groin.
Before the bouncers could be called, the guy took off. Jessica and Angela were worried and apologetic after you had explained what happened and had no problem calling it a night. They apologized over and over, but you assured them it wasn't their fault. And when they spoke of getting you home, you asked them to take you someplace else instead.
So that's how you wind up at Emily's, knocking on her door and waving your friends off when you can hear Emily shuffling around inside. It's a little later than normal so you understand your friend's hesitance to open up, but when she does, her eyes widen in surprise.
You're pretty sure your eyes are red rimmed and puffy, there's most likely a bruise forming on your cheek, and you have your arms crossed over your chest to keep your shirt from exposing you any further.
"YN? What happened?!" She pushes the screen door open to usher you inside, waving at your friends so they can leave.
You smile weakly at her. "Hey Em, do you think it's okay if I stay here tonight? I don't want to go home like this."
"Yes. Of course!" She wraps an arm around your shoulders when she notices you're shivering and takes you to the bathroom. "What happened?"
"We went- and I just- some guy got a little handsy," you stammer weakly. As the events replay in your mind, your eyes fill with tears.
"Oh honey." It dawns on Emily what happened, or what could have happened, and the softness of her voice makes you finally lose what little composure you had.
As you stand there in the bathroom, Emily holds you while you cry. You mumble about how stupid you were to have gone alone and she assures you that it's okay, and that you're not to blame. Men who feel entitled to a woman's body are the ones to blame. Then after a handful of minutes, she mentions that you should take a hot shower and get into bed. She has an outfit to spare and you're more than welcome to it.
None of the pack are around so you figure they're on patrol, something which you're grateful for. You take the offered pair of leggings and a loose long sleeve shirt of hers, and then take a much-needed hot shower.
Afterwards, you immediately climb into bed and curl up under the covers. Emily joins you moments later, curling up behind your back and holding your close. And if she sheds a few tears with you, neither of you mention it.
You're dozing when you hear a door bang open and you flinch awake. Emily immediately squeezes you, shushing you and trying to lull you back into a sense of safety. Then it isn't long until Sam's large frame is filling the opened doorway.
"Em?"
You curl into yourself even tighter at the sound of his voice and you can feel Emily sit up behind you. "There was an incident earlier. YN is going to stay here tonight."
"I-I can go," you mumble. "I didn't exactly give a head's up."
"It's fine," he assures you, but then frowns. "What incident?" Emily says nothing so you lift your head, showing Sam the side of your bruised face. Surprisingly, he chuckles. "You get into a fight or something?"
"Or something."
As you lay your head back down, Emily gets up. She walks towards Sam, pulling him towards the hallway and out of the room. You're pretty sure she's filling him in on what happened, and you're proven correct when Sam re-enters the room with an apologetic expression.
"YN, I'm so so-"
"It's fine, Sam. You didn't know," you say.
"Still." He gulps and you smile weakly at him. "Does Paul know?"
"No."
"I'm gonna have to tell him."
"You do whatever you feel is necessary, alpha Uley."
Sam disappears from the doorway and Emily rejoins you. She sits on the edge of the bed and moments later there's a sorrowful howl piercing the air.
"Looks like the cat's out of the bag," you mumble.
Emily does her best to soothe your worries, assuring you all is going to be fine. She stays with you as time continues to pass and it's been what feels like more than ten minutes before you hear someone walking down the hallway.
You tense and then Paul, fully clothed, is filling the doorway. Immediately you can tell he didn't take the news well and Emily offers you a smile of assurance before leaving the two of you alone.
Your eyes track him as he hesitantly steps into the room, pulling the ottoman from the end of the bed to the side of the bed. He sits down, facing away from you and rests his elbows on his knees as he hangs his head. "Who was he?"
"I don't know," you murmur. "He just cornered me in the hallway."
"Did you make a report?"
"No." You see him shake, but he manages to pull himself together. "He ran before the bouncers came and I didn't get a good description of him anyway."
Paul goes quiet and when you hear his breath hitch, you know he's crying. He turns his head, eyes red rimmed and full of tears. "I am so sorry."
"Why?" You frown. "It wasn't your fault this happened."
"But if I hadn't avoided the imprint-"
"Don't." You move to sit up against the headboard. "This has nothing to do with the bond. Even if you and I were in a good place, I'd have still gone out with my friends. This isn't on anyone but the creep who couldn't take a hint."
"I feel like it's my fault. It's my job to protect you."
"Yeah? Well it's my job to not make stupid decisions. So if you're gonna blame yourself, you might as well blame me too."
Paul continues to stare at you, expression solemn. "We need to do better. I need to do better," he then amends. You offer him a faint smile, shrugging. "Can we- can we just start over to where I'm not a complete asshole and we can attempt an actual friendship?"
"Are you capable of not being an asshole?"
A moment passes and he huffs a laugh. "Yes."
"Then okay." You let the silence hang for a bit before saying, "Hi. I'm YN."
To be continued..
