ellie has a pretty bad case of tunnel vision i believe and she doesn't really stop to think about the matter until it's obvious, right in front of her and quite literally spelled out.

she carries a lot on her shoulders, it's essentially her biggest pride and biggest burden to protect her loved ones... it really takes up the majority of her brain space when she's truly focused so she doesn't frequently stop to realize that people, her s/o in particular, feel the same way about her (protecting her, keeping her safe, etc.)

it would definitely be a big moment for her emotionally, i think to realize how much she's cared for but to also put her strong suits aside to be able to be vulnerable about something like that, like comforting her s/o about her own safety instead of her ability to protect them? definitely a major oh moment as everything clicks into place.

also while i'm here, i've been struck recently with the thought of silver as a pretty princess stuck in a tower being guarded by three ferocious dragons... except he's actually really happy there and loves to spend time with them :D

just the thought that maybe lilia found silver as a baby and took him and raised him, so curious about this human child with hair like the finest silver, setting off a desire to hoard... silver being raised by him until an incident strikes and he winds up being found and dragged back to his home kingdom ;v;

so what other option is there but to strike and take him back? pluck him and put him in a tower far away — but while the bards weave intricate tales of a princess awaiting his rescue from the dastardly monsters that stole him away, silver is finally content again, back where he belongs :>

I saw a local production of Legally Blonde the Musical today!

One of the local high schools in my city (my old school's "rival" in fact haha) is doing a production of Legally Blonde, and I went to see it today! I'm a huge lbtm fan, but this was my first time seeing a live production, and it was honestly very good!! I am very passionate about the door discourse so I was highly anticipating that moment in the ballad. And this production passed the test! As soon as I saw that they were wheeling out the door during that number, I was silently freaking out to my friend haha. Anyway here are some other random notes/thoughts that I had about the production:

Real dogs! Rufus was a golden retriever, and when he came out, the show paused for a bit bc of the applauding haha. Rufus also listened to Kyle's command to sit which was quite cute haha A HUGE ensemble (it's high school so it makes sense). But they bring back the ensemble for like every possible song Elle was great - she used some vibrato and trills during her solos. Most of So Much Better was kinda a mess (backing music/ensemble not really lining up well), but OMIGOD she held out that last note just like LBB did on bway so huge props to her! Warner was a good singer not as strong as the other leads but he has the best expression/acting choices - more on that later Serious: they didn't do the accidental proposal pose which I thought was a missed joke The violinist during Serious walked back out with some great sad acting after Elle left before playing the last notes of the song (I thought that she was someone from the orchestra but they were actually part of the ensemble so that was cool!) What You Want: Elle's white outfit was cute!! They used the "Jet Blue" line! The actors' school photos for the Elle x Warner poster which I thought was funny haha Harvard variations: they got rid of Sandeep's character so the song was shorter Aaron Sholtz and Enid Hoops were played by butch actors which was cool! Bruiser now loves the Bachelor Emmett - the actor playing him (who my sister knew from elementary school) is such a perfect emmett! Looks exactly like how one would imagine him haha Background acting: Emmett introducing himself to the students and shaking their hands while Elle and Vivienne had their first interaction in class Blood in the water: Callahan was also a very good singer. I think this was one of the strongest number of the show. They also added grey to his hair He was kinda touching Enid during his lines with her but she kept on pushing his hand away from her - foreshadowing! Paulette was amazing!!! I think she might be my favorite actor in the show. She sounds EXACTLY like Orfeh did on bway. Also asian representation!! Ireland - she killed it obviously - seriously amazing!! (though she did accidentally came in early at one part). The lyrics are different from the bway version though (they were about her grandpa) Playboy bunny costume - they added a little tutu to it which was cute! Enid sat near them near the end of this scene (in preparation for Elle stealing her glasses). She tries to drink from a bottle but Warner took it away from her and drank it instead Chip On My Shoulder: Elle wears Emmett's jacket! Emmett saying he hadn't slept since 1998 killed me bc this kid is definitely younger than me haha Elle and Emmett don't do any secret handshakes though :( Elle sat next to Warner during her squealing exit and I loved that so much haha Reclaiming Rufus scene: Elle ran back on stage and threw her arms around Emmett and Paulette - I am here for this trio friendship When Dewey re-exited the trailer and saw Elle, he twirled his long hair

So Much Better, as I said before, was sadly not the strongest number but I do like that Elle's parents appear offstage when she called them. And Elle held out that last note!! Once again no Elle x Emmett secret handshake :(

hey friend! random question if you wanna answer/ramble: how do you approach the characters of ghostbur vs c!wilbur? i’ve seen them approached differently throughout the fandom—some people view them as nearly completely separate characters, some view them as essentially a singular person, others view them as two sides of the same coin, etc etc—and i was curious what your approach to them is! no pressure at all to answer this, just if you’d find it fun to talk about :) either way i hope you’re doing well ☀️

I’ve actually been thinking about this topic for a bit, so it’s very exciting indeed to get to talk about it :D Thank you so much for sending this yay!! :D :D

Alrighty, I’ll give my short answer, and then my long, ramble-y, messy answer after that!

Short answer: I see Wilbur and Ghostbur as separate characters that are connected by something deeper—and more confusing—than blood.

Long answer: OH BOY! I AM ABOUT TO GET RAMBLE-Y!

Okayokay. So.

Wilbur and Ghostbur are deeply connected to each other—so much so that many people believe they are the same person! Even members of the Dream SMP were incredibly confused about it all, and couldn’t seem to wrap their heads around it.

Without Wilbur, Ghostbur wouldn’t exist; he is, after all, Wilbur’s ghost. You can’t be a ghost if there was never anyone to be the ghost of in the first place. If Wilbur never lost his last canon life, then Ghostbur never would have come into existence. Right?

That’s all fairly simple. Wilbur dies, he gets a ghost, ghost is named Ghostbur. Easy stuff.

But it actually gets… very confusing, after that 😅 Because Ghostbur is clearly different. He’s clearly other. He’s clearly not Wilbur. Or at least, not the Wilbur he had been.

Ghostbur is gentle. He’s quiet, he loves the color blue, he loves sheep, he lives in a sewer (the weirdo) he has a library, he has a high-pitched scratchy voice, his skin is pale, he always wears a yellow sweater, he apparently dislikes guitars (going off of one line in an early stream Ghostbur appeared in, not entirely sure how “canon” it is) and he’s very, deeply, hopelessly sad.

He doesn’t act like Wilbur! He doesn’t have the same voice, the same likes and dislikes, the same taste in clothes! In many areas, he actually seems like the opposite of Wilbur.

So… he’s a different guy, right? If he’s got a vastly different personality, then surely that would make sense.

Right?

Well… things get even more confusing, because Ghostbur remembers things. He remembers L’manburg and Tommy and Sally and Niki and Phil and Techno and Fundy and so many other little things. Ghostbur also, when talking about the memories, says “I” instead of “he” or “Wilbur”—at least in many cases. He talks about the memories as if they were his own.

But he also gets upset whenever he’s called Wilbur; he’ll correct people, firmly saying that his name is Ghostbur, not Wilbur. It’s clear that being called by his alive counterpart’s name makes him uncomfortable.

And he often doesn’t even refer to Wilbur as Wilbur! He uses the name “Alivebur” instead, as if to further differentiate the two of them.

In addition, Ghostbur saw Wilbur as a villain (at first). He even went so far as to say that Phil did everyone a great service by killing Wilbur, and that everyone is happy that Wilbur’s dead!

And then later, as weeks and months passed, Ghostbur began to learn more about the history of the Dream SMP/L’manburg, and came to realize that Wilbur wasn’t a villain—not truly. He was scared, and sad, and he did terrible things, but deep down he wasn’t a villain. That’s what Ghostbur believed.

These would all be really strange things to think about if Ghostbur and Wilbur really were the same person. Y’know? Why would Ghostbur go to such lengths to separate himself if he and Wilbur were just the same guy all along? It doesn’t make sense to me.

There’s also the very obvious issue of Limbo. While Ghostbur was hanging out in the Dream SMP, Wilbur was stuck in a dark train station for thirteen and a half years. If Wilbur and Ghostbur were the same person, then why would they both be in separate places?

Again, that just doesn’t make sense to me!

When Wilbur was able to briefly talk to clingy duo on the bench, he mentioned Ghostbur, calling him a “crazy son of a [bleep]” aksgsjsgsjs

Once Wilbur was revived, almost every single word he spoke about Ghostbur was negative—and in a lot of cases, just plain mean. Wilbur saw Ghostbur as a shell, and a dumb one at that! He didn’t think that Ghostbur had a backbone or was capable of doing much of anything. Ghostbur made Wilbur very angry.

(It was only much later that Wilbur simmered down and realized that Ghostbur wasn’t those things, and that he didn’t deserve to be trapped in Limbo. It actually seemed like Wilbur… cared for Ghostbur. Or at least felt guilty about Ghostbur’s situation. Why else would he talk to a freaking god in order to bring a sheep to hell to make Ghostbur feel better? XD)

Oh dear I am rambling so much oh my goodness-

ALL THIS TO SAY, I can’t really see how it’s possible that Wilbur and Ghostbur are the same person after all the stuff I mentioned; the different names, the sort-of-hating-each-other, Limbo, etc etc.

So that begs the question: how exactly are these two related? What’s their connection? Because goshdarn it, they are connected to each other, and I think it’s silly to say otherwise.

I’ve seen lots of ideas and theories tossed around: Ghostbur being all the “good parts” of Wilbur, or his happy memories, his good intentions.

But I’m a bit confused by that, because Ghostbur was definitely a flawed individual who made mistakes and hurt people and did bad things, and felt heavy feelings and cried and yelled and hurt and got angry. If he truly was only a manifestation of Wilbur’s good intentions/memories, then wouldn’t he have… not ever dealt with those things?

Ghostbur is human, that’s what I’m trying to say. He’s human, and he feels things and makes mistakes and loves and hurts and he carries so much on his small shoulders and he just wants people to be happy but deep down he is sad and needs so much help. He’s not just Wilbur’s good bits. No, Ghostbur is human and he has good bits as well as bad bits. He’s not perfect or endlessly happy.

So… I guess what I’m getting at here is that I’m not entirely sure what Ghostbur is! I believe that he is his “own” person in a sense, while still being intrinsically connected to Wilbur. I don’t think Ghostbur and Wilbur are the same person, but I also don’t think they’re 100% separate from each other. It’s a very interesting thing. They run deeper than brothers, deeper than blood!
