i’ve been daydreaming about this idea and istg i can never word it well so heres a ramble but thinking about soap and reader who sleep together not out of desire for each other but because they’re both so madly in love—to the point of ragged obsession—with ghost.

how you seek out each other every night, pawing hands mapping scarred bodies, trying to imagine a bulkier frame, a deeper voice; a face never seen before. you leave marks on each other’s skin, pleas dripping from your maws—“more,” he begs; “please,” you whisper and you both know the two of you are thinking about ghost.

how you fall beside each other, staring at the barrack’s ceiling, quiet, before the anecdotes drip.

soap tells you about him today. the jabs, the teasing, the way big hands clasped his wrists to help him find a better position in the firing range. he tells you about the incident in the locker room, how the two of them stepped into each other’s space, unconsciously gravitating toward each other, unaware of how close they’ve become until soap felt the drag of ghost’s denim on his thigh. he was the one who sprang away, guilt heavy on his tongue.

i thought of you, johnny said. i couldn’t do that to you.

you whimper, tucking your face on the crook of his neck, feeling his arm curl around you and pull you close.

voice wavering, you tell him about ghost’s silence. his coldness. how he met your eyes today before deliberately walking past you like you weren’t worth much, not his time nor his presence. you tell him about the way ghost was always there in your peripheral, somehow—a stalking shadow, a beast prowling, but always dismissive, always detached. you tell soap of the misery.

you never really did know why ghost hated you.

(oh but you do.

you tell yourself you don’t know as if ghost’s ire didn’t start that day when he caught you and soap slipping out of the closet. remember what he did then? he tugged soap out of your reach and flicked his eyes down on you with a warning before marching out with johnny’s wrist still clasped in his hand.

remember what the darkness was that danced in ghost’s eyes?

Doctor red flags:

-Mentions weight loss, exercise, nutrition, mental wellness, before any physical examination/testing

-interrupts you

-tries to rush the appointment

-laughs at you

-says you're too young

-Touches you without warning or asking for consent (common with older male doctors unfortunately, but is becoming less common)

-accuses you of self dxing/mentions dr. Google

-mentions anything about powering through the pain

Do not be afraid to drop a doctor/caregiver and see a new one. Doctor shopping is a term made by ableds who believe every doctor is perfect. Your health is precious and you should only trust those you're comfortable with to take care of it. Do not feel bad about offending the doctor. They do not care. They won't harass you or question you (if they do then that's..probably illegal). I know its hard with some insurances or lesser served areas so don't feel bad if you can't, but if you have the option to do so do not be afraid.

Extra tip: Most doctors will behave themselves if you bring an advocate. Even just having a friend sit quietly will help.
