TIVATOBER 2020 // DAY 4

↳ prompt: Pumpkin Spice - rated M (1,255 words)

summary: Ziva makes use of the early morning to bake. Tony is too sleepy to process anything. Established Tiva.

A/N: I took some liberties with the pumpkin spice prompt lol it has pumpkin? in a way? haha very fall-themed, I think. Slightly NSFW, so watch out for that.

She tried to find a nearby surface to clean her flour-covered hands, but nothing was close enough or clean enough, so she decided it would be easier to just finish the dough and tidy everything up later.

Ziva eyed the table for a while, processing the time she would need to do that afterward. Half an hour? Twenty minutes? With the bowls used to make the fillings and the various measuring cups and spoons spread across the jam-stained tablecloth, she had made quite a mess without realizing it.

Still focused on calculating the needed time, Ziva jumped a little when she felt his hands hold her by the waist, coming from behind.

"Hmm, what are you doing?" Tony’s voice was slurred with sleep as he nudged his nose in the crook of her neck.

"Baking," was Ziva’s reply, and she felt his chuckle reverberate across her back.

"Yeah, I can see that." He planted a kiss just beneath her ear, and an uninvited chill ran down her spine at the sensation.

"Cinnamon rolls." Ziva let her head fall onto Tony’s shoulder, pulling his hands tighter around her body. She must have got his arms dirty with flour, but he didn't seem to care. His body felt unfairly warm against hers.

She felt him draw back slightly from her neck to look at the mess of the table.

"It's 4 am," he mumbled, a tinge of judgment in his voice.

Ziva looked at the clock to see that it was true, a soft smile appearing at the corner of her lips. She hadn’t realized it was still that early - maybe she had more time to clean everything up than she thought.

"I wanted to make them in time for breakfast."

Tony huffed. "Tomorrow… today? It’s a weekday, don't know if you know this."

"I know. They are for Ducky, actually,” Ziva replied, recalling the conversation she had with him just the previous evening. “He said he missed his mother's ones she used to bake every fall." Ducky’s mother had died last winter, and that detail had stuck in her mind for some reason.

Tony stretched a hand to dip his finger onto a bowl of filling, bringing it to his lips a second later.

"Hmm,” he mumbled as he tasted it. “Sweet."

A spark of pride flickered inside Ziva’s chest.

"They're pumpkin flavored."

Tony kissed the back of her head, then leaned in to whisper in her ear, "I was talking about you, actually."

Another shudder ran down her spine at his words, and Ziva couldn’t stop herself from smiling then, her heart skipping a beat.

He must have sensed her appreciation, though, because Tony started planting soft kisses at the side of her jaw as he pulled her closer, his body now towering her from behind. Some giggles escaped her from the tickling sensation of his still to shave stubble, but that didn’t slow him down.

The kisses quickly turned into nibbles where her neck met her shoulder, and Ziva found herself tilting her head to expose the skin of her throat without thinking. Tony’s tongue swirled over her pulse, and she had to bite her bottom lip to stop the moan that had risen once he hummed against her skin.

"Ah,” Ziva breathed, feeling the heat rise to her cheeks. “Tony. I really want to finish this in time."

"Hm, just go ahead." He nibbled her earlobe.

"Well, I can't."

Ziva felt his hands going underneath her sweater, the warmth coming from them making her head spin.

"Hm, why not?" He mumbled against her neck, just as he softly bit the skin there and then soothed it with a brush of his tongue.

"Well, you prove to be really distracting sometimes." Ziva wet her own lips, feeling a bit breathless with the nonstop attention her neck was receiving.

"Sometimes?"

She chuckled at his smugness and Tony’s hands trailed north under her shirt, his knuckles grazing the arc of her breast.

"Please?" Ziva pleaded, even though some part of her just wanted to give in and let the plans aside for another day.

Tony didn’t help at all, pushing his weight onto her backside. "C'mon,” he said just in her ear, “You need some spice with all that sugar."

One of his fingers brushed agaisnt her nipple and Ziva felt tingles firing low in her belly as Tony started to suck her pulse at the same time. Before she could hold herself back, Ziva’s hand shot up to run her fingers through his hair, and the current length of it made her a little bit more alert.

"How old are you again?” Ziva tried to come back to reality, his breathing still making her feel a little bit lightheaded as it grazed her neck. “A middle-aged uncle making poor attempts at flirting?"

Tony chuckled against her skin, his arm circling her tighter. "Yes. Exactly that.” He planted a quick kiss at her jaw. “Except I'm an only child, sorry."

Kisses restarting at her neck, Ziva almost couldn’t register his words as she let out a moan and Tony’s gripping became more possessive, a low groan muttered next to her ear and he pushed himself again hard against her back.

When his fingers started to play with her sweatpants waistband, though, some sense returned to Ziva, and she inhaled deeply before turning to meet his eyes.

"Tony." She lifted an eyebrow, amused at the slight frown that marked his still sleep dazed face, his eyelids heavy as his gaze darted from her eyes to her lips.

"Fine,” Tony said at last, retrieving his hands after a moment of hesitation from under her shirt. “I'll let you be.” He leaned in to press his lips briefly against hers. “Just come back to bed when you’re done?"

Ziva nodded, smiling softly. "I will do that.” She kissed him again, their noses bumping in the process and making her chuckle. “Thank you."

Tony hummed against her lips, then smiled lazily right before pulling her again for another kiss, this time spinning her to fully hug her by the waist. Ziva let her hands raise to circle his neck, and when her fingers ran again through his hair, Tony let his tongue brush her lower lip.

She broke the kiss with a smile, knowing full well that if they continued, this would escalate into even a bigger mess and a couple of hours wouldn’t be enough to let them get to work in time.

Tony nodded, a sparkle in his eyes, then retreated. His hands lifted to cup Ziva’s cheeks, and he angled her head down to press a soft kiss to her forehead.

"My cinnamon roll," he said, a smile clear in his voice.

Ziva chuckled. "That one was even worse."

"Sorry if I'm not on top of my game before the sun has even risen.” His hands hesitated to leave her, but he took a step back towards the bedroom.

“Catch me in a few hours though," Tony added with a wink as he brushed spots of flour from his forearms and hair.

Ziva’s heart swelled at how adorable he looked, and a smile twitched on her lips. "Love you.” She blew you a kiss in his direction.

Tony watched her for a moment and she wondered if he had changed his mind and would come closer again, but he stayed in his place. He eyed the cinnamon dough still to be made on the table and shook his head, huffing softly.

"I love you, too."

Notes on Season 15- Part 1 (contains spoilers, are mostly complaints about Torres (and Quinn in Pandora’s Box (Part 1)), and are my personal opinions, don’t @ me)

Since Season 15 started rerunning in Australia on 19 November, I’ve decided to write down things I forgot or would like to emphasise upon:

House Divided

I’m so glad Quinn’s gone, good riddance

Reeves saying NCIS wasn’t allowed to look for Gibbs and McGee, then the dispatch guy looking around at their efforts to do just that was great

Why does Torres have to be so disrespectful, even in court- poor Vance having to witness it

Were Bishop and Jimmy being serious about the phone booth?

Poor Reeves- never lend anything to Torres

I love it when Vance gets angry on the team’s behalf, it’s awesome

Don’t be such a dick, Torres

Jezebel Poppins sort of looks like Britney Spears- sidenote, I wonder how the show comes up with character names

Gibbs’ carving was amazing

Bishop and Reeves look so good together, ugh

St. Nicholas is the patron saint of children- in relation to Torres, that explains a lot

Fuck off with your insulting Reeves, Torres- like you haven’t made a mistake before (and much bigger than letting not-so-relevant information slip)

The committee backing Vance up was awesome

‘hobbies?’ ‘not dying’ amazing

The end scenes were so sweet

Every time Delilah said ‘husband’ and McGee said ‘wife’, I went ‘aww’ inside

McGee had such great lines this episode

WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES

Dr. Grace! I love her so much, and her reaction to Gibbs catching her off-guard was awesome

When does Torres not have doubts about Bishop and her competency for just about anything

I almost forgot about Ducky’s ringtone

Ugh, I hate Torres’ macho persona

I don’t get the whole falling-in-love-with-someone-your-S.O.-was-close-to (or falling in love with anyone after your S.O. died, for that matter)

When did Abby make the switch from coffin to casket (or is it a backup or something)? I forgot if it’s been mentioned previously

I was really worried watching the Jimmy-and-the-liver bit for the first time

For some reason, Gibbs and McGee’s basement conversation reminded me of McGee and Tony’s in 3x10

Aww, Ducky getting invited to be honoured as an alumnus was so sweet

McGee’s shrink appointment with Dr. Grace was a really great scene

Dr. Grace and Gibbs have a such great friendship, and this episode was no exception

Exit Strategy

McGee talking about all the old cases, so nostalgic

I love McGee and Jimmy’s friendship

SPORTELLI! I kind of missed him, not going to lie (I wish his story didn’t end the way it did)

Torres is such an asshole to and about everyone, ugh

Torres’ flower drawing looked more like a hubcap

Aww, Ducky teaching the lecture was so cute

Jimmy standing up for himself, go Autopsy Gremlin

Ducky’s fanclub is way too over-eager

Seriously, Torres? You’re a federal agent, and you think saying you’d steal bearer bonds out loud is a good idea?

Why is Toccata and Fugue the music piece of choice for every spooky TV show scene ever (it’s great, though, don’t get me wrong)

SLOANE! Her entrance is one of the most iconic (and obvious, I caught the ID flash the first time I watched it) ever, plus she looked just so beautiful

McGee talking about Delilah was so cute

Torres is so pigheaded and obnoxious

Abby’s zombie apocalypse kits were such a sweet idea

Abby and Jimmy have such a cute friendship (and the Hamilton bit was hilarious)

Sloane and Vance are such a great brotp from the very first scene

SHUT. UP. TORRES.

I hate it whenever Torres says something along the lines of ‘I’m not trying to be ________, but...’- he uses it as an excuse for his shitty behaviour, and it’s never addressed

‘I don’t believe in absolutes’ well, we know that Sloane’s not a Sith, then (I know the Sith deal in absolutes, but to deal in something, you most likely have to believe in it first)

$300, 000 really isn’t a lot, especially split between two people

The last two Bishop-and-Buckner scenes were sweet, but didn’t make up for his previous behaviour towards her

Akin to 17x06, this episode glossed over the bullying Bishop endured, and how it’s a serious issue

Fake It ‘Til You Make It

The first time I saw this, I instantly knew it was Tony’s doing- how could anyone not

Reeves is so caring and kind, it sucks how Melissa played him

Abby and Reeves (Rabby? Clabby?) were such a great brotp while it lasted

FUCK. OFF. TORRES.

Why is Torres such an asshole? He’s rude and insensitive to everyone, even recovering addicts- how have the writers not been called out for their writing of him yet

I love Sloane so much-she’s awesome

Those tap-lights are horribly hipster and ugly

The end scene in the bullpen was hilarious, and the end scene with Reeves was so emotional and heartbreaking

Rishop’s friendship (not their more-than-friendship, they’re two separate things) was so prevalent in this episode, and it was great to see

This episode had such a powerful message, and was a great instance in the Rule 10 debate

Trapped

Aww, Jimmy’s so sweet

Torres is so ungrateful and stingy

Torres using work time for personal stuff, not surprising

Reeves’ chess pun was absolutely the best

For some reason, I really love it when Reeves does that thing where he puts his hands behind his back and slightly leans forward

‘The Timinator’ I’m dying

Like Reeves said, Torres always has to one-up everyone else and I hate it

That kid was so sassy, omfG

Bishop knows Reeves so well, and it’s too adorable- how could the writers set up Ellick when Rishop already had an outline

That’s what you get for being such an asshole, Torres, and trying to get it back was one of the lowest things a character has done

I love it when NCIS includes charities (real and based-on-real) and the like in episodes

Words can’t even describe how much I hated Torres in this episode- he was at his worst

Pandora’s Box (Part 1)- Season 14, didn’t re-air with the other episodes because Part 2 (NOLA) is re-airing in two days from time of writing

Bishop being a fangirl was completely understandable (and relatable)

Good job insulting Abby, Torres- not

I’m gonna try and start saying ‘Aristotle banana split’ in everyday conversation

Poor Abby- such a sucky situation

Quinn is so annoying

JJ looks to old to have a daughter in preschool

‘Dr. Ducky’ TOO ADORABLE

Ducky and Reeves having banter about British things was the best thing ever

Bishop and Reeves are so cute together (also the ‘smart girl’ comment was definitely about her)

Bishop was on the shortlist after all, I’m so proud of her (even though the mission went south)

The NYB memorial wall, so sad

LaSalle (rip)! I just love his Alabama accent

Torres is just such a douche

McAbby is such a great brotp

Why does Torres have to be so dramatic and show-offy

Burden Of Proof

Yuck, I hate Torres, and even more when he talks about himself

Sloane’s choker top, YES

I hate it when Torres messes with Bishop’s mind and feelings- that’s not how you show you care about someone

Oof, Fornell- it sucks his job was brought into this mess, and that he lost it as a result

I really don’t want to know why ‘feet’ was the first thing that came to Torres’ mind

There’s something to just love about when Vance breaks up Fornell and Gibbs’ arguments

‘Name That Profile’ actually sounds like a pretty fun game

I hate Torres’ innate cockiness- he risks the suspect getting away just so he can put on a show beforehand

Ouch, poor Fornell- it was the wrong decision, and I don’t know if I would’ve done it, but I did get why he did it- the evidence that Hicks killed the Lieutenant was compelling

Poor Gibbs, you can just see the inner turmoil in his head

Aww, Sloane

Fornell, aww- I’ll fight anyone who says he’s an inherently bad person

Hicks really is a great liar to be able to fool a shrink

I really liked the Gabriel Hicks arc, this episode was the first of a few great ones

Voices

It’s rich of Torres to back up a woman’s side of things

Never stop being awkward and adorkable, Jimmy (adwarkable?)

‘Jack, knock yourself out’ ‘I will, Gibbs’- funniest exchange ever

Ducky lives for the drama and I love it

Collapsing floor during a birthday party- hell of a way to go

Delilah putting up a firewall to prevent McGee from finding out the baby’s gender was so funny

Mike Franks popping up for all of ten seconds was just so iconic

The twins reveal was pretty cute

The foreshadowing in this episode with Sloane and the losing-a-daughter storyline (whether intentional or not) was really good to watch back

The amount of times the word ‘sex’ was said during this episode made me extremely uncomfortable- how hard is it to say ‘gender’ instead

Ready Or Not

Don’t be such an asshole to Reeves, Torres

The Harrison Ford-themed names were kind of bad, but definitely not as much as they could have been

Abby and Delilah’s friendship has come such a long way, I’m so proud

Aww, Morgan, he was so sweet and didn’t deserve to die

Poor Sloane

McGee making a duplicate comfort kit for Delilah was the most adorable thing ever, and Abby yelling along with her was so funny

Bishop and Reeves always stand and sit so close together, too cute

I remember watching this for the first time and being really shocked when Yorka shot Morgan, especially since it was so early on in the episode

Abby really is a terrible liar

Bishop and Gibbs’ little performance was awesome

I don’t know why they didn’t think about putting Sloane in in the first place

Sloane making snarky comments was awesome

Morgan dying was so sad

Seriously, Torres? Do you want everything to blow up?

Reeves and Torres debating the bomb was hilarious

I loved how Gibbs just straight-up punched the driver in the face

The end scene with the twin-naming was so cute

High Tide (originally Ep. 11, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 10)

Torres is so obnoxious and a really bad law enforcer- lives are always more important than the op

Reeves worried about Bishop, so sweet

Torres is such a dick for ignoring Bishop and protocol

Ugh, why is Torres so arrogant and bigheaded- I hate him so much, yuck

How could those girls not know the capital of Maine

Insubordination is Torres’ middle name, and I could’ve watched a whole season’s worth of Vance chewing him out

Bishop’s anger was completely justified, but I wish it wasn’t because of feelings for him

I FUCKING HATE TORRES SO MUCH I WANT TO KILL HIM

Torres absolutely cannot be trusted, Sloane- you know it and so does everyone else

Yuuuck, I hated that part so much, and it didn’t even make sense- Bishop was super-angry at him just before, why would she do a complete 180

Torres is such an idiot- don’t admit anything to someone who can’t be 100% trusted, and that plot twist was pretty predictable

More like a soft zero

Seriously? What if he died, you dickhead- also the fact that Torres had no backup plan and was only okay because the team saved him shows how self-obsessed and incompetent he is

The fact that the team doubted Torres shows how little he can be trusted, and how little they trust him

There was absolutely no chemistry between Bishop and Torres in this episode (or ever), and words can’t express how much I loathe and despise him and everything about him, which sucks because he could’ve been really well-written

Dark Secrets (originally Ep. 12, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 11)

I think all babies are pretty ugly, but Johnny and Morgan are cute

It’s just an ID photo, Torres- stop complaining

‘is there a spouse’ Autopsy Gremlin for the gender-inclusive win!

Carol mention! She’s awesome

Bud again! I’m using a lot of exclamation marks, but they’re things to exclaim about

Poor guy- she was a total asshole, lying to and cheating on him

Bishop and Sloane have such a pure relationship

Seriously, Torres? Not everyone dates in high school, and shaming someone about it is pathetic and juvenile (and it doesn’t help if they’re dead, either)

Recording your infidelity exploits isn’t a good idea (infidelity isn’t, full-stop)

I hate how obnoxious and over-confident Torres is

Just another instance of Torres manipulating someone into doing something for him

This was easily one of the most gross and uncomfortable plots I’ve seen, but a good way of showing that it’s not only guys that cheat and lie- girls do as well

2018 Megaman Summer Fanart Contest Part 1.0 Results!!

Again, thank you everyone for your patience. Too many random things popping up over the last 2 weeks. ^^; Whew, just got this posted before midnight. Sorry for the late night post for those of us in the US, but it’s kinda my thing, isn’t it?

14 total entries between the two categories, but as always, a nice mix of new participants and veterans to this contest. Are the usual players coming away with the goodies, or have the newbies snuck in to wow us with their creative styles? While tumblr will shrink down all the images, I will include the full size uploads (well, almost for all - 2 were way too big) on my imgbox account. Just click on the “(FULL VIEW)” link for each one. Hopefully this way, there won’t be people who have trouble viewing them this time around.

My thanks to @digitallyfanged and @jaybird-c for helping me judge the entries this time around!! We were all sorta on the same page it seems for our individual results, but it’s always harder when there is a smaller total of participants, because everyone is deserving in their own way.

Thanks once again also to all who participated! For all winners [and there are 10 of you, out of 14], I will be contacting you as soon as I can about your prizes. If you didn’t win, there’s always next time...which starts as soon as tomorrow, when I announce Contest Part 1.1 (as in Mega Man 11)!!

*Tabby’s #1 - I felt like out of all of the pieces, this hit the theme the hardest. Definitely showing the back of one of the cards was a really unique touch to the piece as well. And that LaLinde postcard. The CHEEK. “Hey dad, I visited your girlfriend while on vacation.”

*Jay’s #1 - I have got to hand it to Folly Knight, above and beyond doesn't begin to cover this. Eight postcards, each with a unique theme, composition, and aesthetic, and then all presented together? That's fantastic.

Miyabi’s #1 - Even as simple, everyday objects, that book and cup of coffee are painted so well! I appreciate all the various scenes you presented in your postcards, with emotions ranging in each one of them. From the hilarious “Shrimpin’ Ain’t Easy” bib to Blues’ loneliness in Fiji, your entry was varied and unique. I also felt your entry really represented the theme very, very well.

2.) @multiple-sages: (FULL VIEW LINK PIC 1) (FULL VIEW PIC 2)

*Tabby’s #2 - This is very cute. I like that it showed summer activities from sort of a different perspective/culture. Not everything is action and traveling. Sometimes it’s small festivals and quiet cafes with friends. Zero definitely seems like the type to sit around in a cat cafe for hours.

*Jay’s #2 - Man, it was hard to pick -- a lot of these have great composition, but I think the #2 Spot should go to [multiple-sages for] Cinnamon and Zero. It does a great job at setting the scene for the moment and raises a lot of interesting questions as to how exactly we got here. Obon postcard is also very good, but of the two, this is a slightly less evocative piece (that is, there's less story apparent here)

*Miyabi’s #2 - Both cards look super cute, and show different ways the hunters spend their time not battling Mavericks, while experiencing tradition in Japan. The Maverick Hunter logo stamp on Axl’s was a nice touch. The little kitties are all adorable, either sleeping or pawing around with Zero’s luxurious golden teaser toy hair. Like Cinny is trying, it’s hard to hide your smile while looking at that scene!

3.) Steph O’Dell: (FULL VIEW PIC)

*Tabby’s #3 - A very cute image of the ladies at the beach. Everyone needs some sun! I do dig how you made it sort of look like a selfie.

*Miyabi’s #3 - While the hubby is away, the girls will play. Haruka finally gets out of the house and to the beach with some friends. The selfie style was a different take compared to the other entries, while still feeling like a postcard. While the palm trees look like they’re just ‘shopped in, the rest of the background ocean and sand is deceptive enough where I couldn’t tell you had worked on that until I zoomed in closer. So kudos for making that part of your background look photorealisitic! .

*Jay’s #3 (tie) - Very appealing and exceedingly well-composed, but kind of suffers a little from how they handle the text. There's a sizing issue the cuts some of the text short.

*Miyabi says - I didn’t know I needed to see starfish booblight Zero, but I am amused! XD I totally liked where you were going with the curved arc format for the text to match that familiar typefont on so many postcards, but I agree that the ‘from’ getting partially chopped feels like it just needed to be resized down a little more. Otherwise, a fun pic that fit the theme well!

@chaudandfrends *RAFFLE WINNER ~ ZERO ACCESSORY SET*: (FULL VIEW PIC)

*Jay wrote - This drawing is ambitious, but I'm afraid it's more pictures with text over postcards.

*Miyabi says - I don’t care if I need to eat my calcium, I am not touching those fishbones, Captain Beefhead. Good mix of action with Yai, Dingo and Netto jumping into the water, to the rest of the crew reclining and enjoying their refreshing dip. The watercolor look to your sky and sand give a little contrast to the rest of your coloring technique for all the characters. LOL at Enzan ducky on his inner tube.

*Miyabi says - Much like myself, a Shadow vacation involves not really going anywhere, not really doing anything, and just enjoying the simple things outdoors near home, while sipping an ice cold beverage. XD While you won’t see many Polaroids around these days, it feels fitting for these two bots. I felt it was a wonderful composition, and very enjoyable piece.

*Jay wrote - I gotta say, I love Seabyrocks' sunset lighting, but I'm afraid the pose is a little simple and, I hate to break it to you, Rock, but you put your hands on backwards.

*Miyabi says - Nobody should visit Mega City without a commemorative autographed heroic Rock Light postcard! I do think you did wonderful blending those sunset colors in, on the right side of the pic. The purples and oranges are so pretty in the sky. Very cute!

*Jay’s #3 (tie) - Very appealing and exceedingly well-composed, but kind of suffers a little from how they handle the text, as it blends in with the darker parts of the background.

*Miyabi says - This turned out very pretty, and also gave me a laugh with Zero’s pointy helmet tips poking through his straw hat. Having a butterfly land on X’s finger feels so fitting for his peace-loving ways, and I loved the E-Tank being used as a container to hold all those fresh strawberries. Even the little details like the dirt and grass on Zero’s shovel are well done.

*Jay’s #1 - This. This is the picture that caught my eye immediately. The composition, the lighting -- this is one of those iconic series' images that gives you everything a character stands for. Lumine is going to end the world, and every second of it's gonna rock. Goofball Axl and hardcore samurai Zero are also winners.

*Tabby’s #1 - I love this. I love everything about this. I love the extra mile on making the design sheets, and making it look like a horribly ripped off tv shot. The corny dialogue. Clearly Ruby Spears needed to continue and make us an X series.

*Miyabi’s #1 - You get major kudos for using an actual Ruby Spears production sheet as your format, and adding those effects to make it look just like it was a photocopy I scanned. The grainy filter to make the ‘screencaps’ feel like they came from a VHS tape, and punny one-liners are wonderful! Thanks for putting in all the work to make your entry feel like it would fit in perfectly with the original series! (P.S. - those aren’t booblights for Zero anymore. Those are mammoth pec sunglasses, that would blind anyone who dares to stare at his super cool, manly chest!!! LOL)

*Miyabi’s #2 - Of course this theme was right up your alley, and you certainly didn’t disappoint! I can’t believe how many characters you tried to fit into this collage. While at first glance it might feel like you focused on mostly existing RS-characters, you really did add quite a few updated designs. I just have this feeling that you planned to be even more ambitious than this, but weren’t able to finish it as you hoped. But regardless of the lack of background, the work you put in drawing all of these characters is amazing! Kalinka, Treble Boost Bass, and Time Man are probably my favorites of your redesigns.The more pronounced spikes for Bass’ helmet and claws look so, so good!!

*Jay’s #3 - I gotta love all your new designs, and is your Skull Man taking notes from Hitoshi Ariga or am I just getting my hopes up? Bonus points for all the attention to detail and going out of your way to replicate the original style.

*Tabby’s #3 - You definitely have the style down pat here. It’s super clean. This would make a great poster, with a little bit of background work.

*Tabby’s #2 - Dat Forte. You really changed up his and Gospel’s design quite a bit, and it definitely works within the Ruby Spears theme. Super kudos on the retro graphic design going on here. It almost looks like the back of the old DVD covers too.

*Miyabi’s #3 - Just from the look on his face, I feel like Bass would have the same wisecracks and would sound almost just like Proto Man...only with a deeper voice. And now I’m imagining Proto and Bass both harassing Mega in stereo. XD I like the "super” title twist to your ad, which would have played off the actual game well, if Ruby Spears got another season to coincide with Megaman 7′s release. It does feel like an ad I’d see in old gaming mags.

*Jay wrote - I like your poster design. Good job cleaving to the show's style, good job with the little details like the marketing schlock and copyright, great job with the classy reference to the old school instruction manuals.

*Miyabi says - From what little we’ve heard, Block Man’s dialogue in Megaman 11 is like by far the most fitting to be used in Ruby Spears. So he was a good, and relevant choice to try to tackle. Definitely can see his chiseled pecs hiding under his main shell, and feels like he’s at least been working out on leg day, doing squats while lifting his heavy body around everywhere.

*Miyabi says - Your comic totally has the right tone with the dialogue, from Proto’s complaint not being able to deal the final blow, Wily being Wily, and the obligatory ‘sizzling circuits.’ It flows well, has some drama, and I totally read it all in their Ruby-Spears voices. Burst does seem like he’s bulked up just right, with some minor changes to his classic design.

*Jay’s #2 - Now THIS is promotional material. I love how well Bass is introduced by simply having him rage off into the distance. Everybody else, they're mad because they hate this moment. Bass? Bass just hates everything. Splash Woman is also a neat design, but also shows off more design than personality.

*Miyabi says - BUT I WON’T MISS THIS TIME...With all the rage and fear from everyone around them, it’s quite amusing to see the two brothers smiling as they hold their glowing busters to each other. It’s chaotic, but also nicely almost ties in with the photo theme of the first category, too. Splashy’s side fins and more flowing waves protruding from her helmet are nice touches to her design. Would have been interested to see how she and other Light/Wily bots would have fit into that family photo.

RWBY Musings #24: So since the team will be going to Atlas for the duration of V6, there has been talk about Ruby potentially meeting Whitley Schnee with the little snowflake gaining an ‘interest’ in our little rose.

To quote Ducky from the Land Before Time, oh no, no, no, no, NO!

There is only one young 14-year-old boy who I will accept romantically pursuing our Silver Eyed Warrior Rose and he is a precious as gold, gentle avocado cinnamon roll, thank you very much.

I’ll admit, at first I wasn’t quite so chill with this idea. I mean Whitley charismatically flirting with a romantically awkward Ruby, dropping lyrics smoother than syrup on shaved ice---the very thought of this, while amusing on the part of Ruby, gave me Goosebumps and not the good kind. But then I realized a particularly interesting comprise.

I’ll only accept this concept if it meant helping Oscar towards realizing his true feelings for Ruby and vice versa.

Dammit, now I want a Masquerade Ball or charity gala episode to be included in the Atlas Arc in RWBY V6.

Like picture this guys...

Imagine if...

Whitley invites Ruby as his date to an esteemed charity ball and our poor red-haired huntress begrudgingly accepts as a favour to Weiss. Like imagine if the gang need some super important info that only the Schnee Dust Company can provide. Since Weiss isn’t the heir anymore, she no longer can provide everyone with ties or access. But she does know someone who can.

Her brother.

So Weiss consults Whitley for a favour. An invitation to the upcoming annual charity gala being hosted by the Schnee Dust Company. At first, Whitley cheekily mocks his sister for crawling back to him for favours but then he makes an exception to the deal if Weiss gives him something in return. When Weiss questions what it is, Whitley says that he’ll only give Weiss an invite to the gala on the condition that her ‘lovely friend’, Ruby agrees to be his date to the charity event that just happens to be held at the main company headquarters.

Under duress, Weiss takes the deal and sadly, so does Ruby for the sake of their agenda, getting whatever from the Schnee Dust Company building.

Now Weiss has to bring a date too since it’s that kind of gala event so much to everyone’s surprise, Weiss brings Oscar to the gala as her date and partner on the secret Schnee Dust Company infiltration mission.

Let’s say for whatever reason as the company heir, Whitley was placed in charge of handling the guest list for the gala and unceremoniously forgot to provide General Ironwood with his invitation for the event (so no assistance from him).

Now before this, let’s say we get several indications that Whitley doesn’t particularly like Oscar very much.

Whether it’s the fact that he came from a much poorer background (having grown up on a farm on the outskirts of Mistral), Whitley’s general behaviour towards Oscar is pure disrespect and every time the two meet, he treats the boy as if he was someone beneath him despite them being the same age. Y’know that kind of schlick.

And Whitley acknowledging Oscar’s obvious interest in Ruby only deepens his disgust towards to the farm boy. In the short amount of encounters Oscar’s shared with Whitley, not only has he managed to make a mockery of him, his family name and his upbringing but he has also made several harsh remarks about Oscar being a suitor for Ruby; calling him unfit of a 'rare flower' such as her, addressing him as a 'peasant' as his crude nickname for Oscar.

So Oscar accompanies Weiss as her ‘date’ to the gala, looking all dashingly handsome in his tux that Weiss was kind enough to provide for him, like a young prince straight out of a fairy tale; much to the awe of Ruby and the chagrin of Whitely Schnee.

In Whitley’s eyes, Oscar may be a peasant but unfortunately for him, like Cinderella, the peasant cleans up impeccably well because underneath that farm-bred exterior is quite the boyish exquisiteness.

Just add some of that good ole Ice Queen spit-shine and the boy gleams like gold.

This of course ends up annoying the hell out of Whitley but for appearances’ sake, he hides his annoyance and distaste over not just his sister inviting the young farm boy unbeknownst to him but also noticing the evident infatuation Ruby has for Oscar.

This is a nice way to introduce a friendship between Oscar and Weiss giving her the little brother relationship she never got to have with Whitley.

Like what if...for at the gala, Whitley’s continuous badgering forces Oscar to storm off in shame.

And it is Weiss to sit him down and have a nice heart to heart talk with Oscar highlighting an important lesson that she learned for herself that your upbringing doesn’t define you as a person. You do. You can have all the riches in the world and still be the loneliest person of all, drawing reference from herself.

Weiss also brings up points like Ruby genuinely liking Oscar for who he is even if he’s a farm boy from Mistral and she too admits to being fond of Oscar as well. This is a good opportunity to build Weiss and Oscar’s comradery.

Weiss’s talk then gives Oscar the courage to finally stand up for himself when Whitley comes for round two of his pompous pestering.

To the surprise of Oscar and Whitley, Ruby also comes to the farm child’s defense and tries in a very Ruby-fashion to get Whitley to apologize for his impudence towards Oscar.

This however, only worsens the scenario, when an angered Whitley pulls a Jacques Schnee and makes the mistake of...[insert douche-y date act here like pouring punch over Ruby’s head, ruining her dress all because she didn’t take his side of the argument].

At first Oscar was only verbally defending himself against Whitley, but the minute he dared embarrass Ruby, that’s when the country boy decides to teach the Atlesian rich boy a good lesson in manners, Mistral style.

The next thing Whitley knew he was lying on the floor as Oscar socked him in the jaw so hard, not only did he tumble backwards straight into the punch bowl but also sent it and most of its continents sailing cartoonishly right onto the private table where Jacques was entertaining some elite higher ups; giving them all quite the splash.

To all the Whitley and Oscar fans in the audience reading this who want them to be best friends or lovers, I apologize if my post may upset you in any shape or form.

For me, I want these two boys to be enemies in the beginning and then possibly friends or more so acquaintances that mutually respect each other in the end, perhaps.

An episode subplot at a gala hosted by the Schnee Dust Company at the company grounds could also spell a nice reveal for the true nature of Whitley’s relationship with his father and the kind of pressures he currently faces as the new heir to the company.

What if...

Oscar discovers an upset Whitley lying in some lonely corridor, wincingly tending to a bruised cheek and bloodied nose. Not due to their earlier tussle but as a result of his punishment from Jacques for the level of humiliation his and Oscar’s little spat at the gala brought upon the Schnee Family. At first, Oscar tries to help Whitley out of sincere concern for his predicament. However even in his dishevelled state, Whitley still holds onto his pride and continues to be an indecent prick; showing the real side to his personality as he refuses Oscar’s help.

It is here when we can get a powerful speech from Oscar, that not only ties back to the talk he had with Weiss but additionally encompasses his feelings regarding all that has happened to him during the events of volumes 4 and 5 after meeting Ozpin. Oscar says this to Whitley:

‘...A wise girl once told me that your upbringing doesn’t define who you are. You’re right. Compared to you, I am a peasant. But I’m never alone. I’m blessed enough to have people in my life who care about me and look out for me, which is the least I can say for you. I may not have all the riches in the world but even if I did, it wouldn’t make me better than anyone. It wouldn’t define me or the choices I choose to make. I define me.

This is why I am here. Helping you. Even though I have every right to insult you, undermine you and make you feel every bit of anger and embarrassment you’ve made me feel since we’ve met... I’m not going to do that.

That would make me no different from you and that’s not who I am.

I’m better than that...’

It’d be so cool if we got an amazing character speech like that from Oscar at some point in V6, granted that the series does provide fans with a gala subplot such as the one I just described. I’m not writer for RWBY so it’d be interesting what is in store for us for V6 in the Atlas Arc.

The Abusive Parenting of Jacques Schnee

I know I initially started this post to be mainly about Whitley, Oscar and Ruby and shipping stuff, but I’d like to deviate from that now and share my thoughts and theories on this particular topic.

I’m not trying to say that Jacques Schnee as a character is a completely abusive parent; at least not too much in the physical sense.

However I wouldn’t deter from it either. If he was willing to slap Weiss, one of his girl children, then imagine what he’d do to his own son in order to pull him up and shape him into his perfectly complacent little heir.

I wouldn’t denounce the theory that Jacques would occasionally abuse Whitley if he wasn’t obedient. It wouldn’t surprise me if neither Winter nor Weiss knew about this.

In continuing with the subplot I was describing before, what if...Ruby and Weiss meet up with Oscar and upon finding him with Whitley, Weiss is torn to see her brother is such a messy state especially after discovering that their own father did that to her little brother.

I can imagine Weiss confronting Winter about knowing of Jacques’ abuse towards Whitley to which Winter would reply that, while she didn’t know this, she always suspected it.

If Whitely was being abused while Weiss was growing up, I’d suspect that it would be a situation where Winter, as the oldest sibling, acknowledged many signs of the abuse but could never actually prove it given the fact that one; Jacques was always very strategic with his levels of aggression and physical punishment and secondly, Whitley never admitted to anything himself no matter how many times Winter attempted to probe him on the matter but his behaviour and how withdrawn he was from his sisters was always a sure-fire red flag for Winter.

Weiss, of course, was oblivious to the whole thing and always brushed off Whitley’s closeness to their father as part of his spoiled grooming, not knowing the darker implications of it.

Winter couldn’t save Whitley from Jacques because from the moment he was born, Jacques had placed a tight hold over Whitely so instead Winter was forced to focus on Weiss; unfortunately leaving their little brother behind.

Whitley being the worst victim of Jacques’ strict parenting could partially explain his distance and dislike towards his older sisters cause maybe he secretly feels left behind, in a way or...perhaps that how Jacques made him feel.

It’d be interesting if Whitley thought his sisters knew of his abuse and just didn’t care about him. After all, in the entire Schnee household, who did Whitley have to look out for him beyond Jacques? His sisters never included him in their tight circle, all because of Jacques no doubt.

The mother is a lost cause (probably knew of the possible abuse too but just was too much of a depressed alcoholic to care. Perhaps she and Qrow can have a little chat together over some light drinks and he can be the one to finally talk some good sense into this MIA alcho-momma being a better parent and being there for her kids or at least the youngest one).

I’m not sure how close Whitley is to Klein but I’m sure Jacques’ stronghold on the poor young boy also hampers with the butler’s relationship with him as well.

But.....perhaps I’m just really over thinking too much here.

So, to conclude:

I’m hoping that our heroes’ stay in Atlas is stretched out for two seasons (V6 and even V7). There are so many different arcs and subplots that can be covered when the group arrives in Atlas that go beyond the stuff involving the Relic of Knowledge.

One of them is Weiss bringing some well needed closure to her family drama. With Whitely as the new heir to the Schnee Dust Company, that’s bound to be a main subplot for the Atlas arc.

So having Whitley, pulling a Jacques Schnee, and only taking a so-called interest in Ruby, considering her a rare flower that he plans to obtain, not only cause of the uniqueness of her silver eyes, but also a means of somewhat spiting Weiss by being distrustfully chummy with one of her closest friends. That definitely strikes me as something he would do.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m still itching for...not necessarily a Whitley-redemption arc (though it would be nice if his whole ‘like my daddy’ act was all a facade to conceal a much more humane young soul) but at least a side of the story that lets us fans understand why Whitley is the way he is.

I may not like Whitley as a character so much however, if I had to classify him in terms of personality, I think he could either be a Peridot (from Steven Universe. A character whose antagonism and way of thinking was only as a result of their upbringing. But once this character meets someone who helps them see a new way of thinking, they end up changing for the better)

Or... an Azula (from Avatar the Last Airbender. A character that is antagonistic due to their upbringing but unlike the Peridot, this character isn’t quite open to change.

On the contrary, this character persona relishes in their hostile ways because it makes them feel powerful and power is all that matters to them above everything else.

But underneath this tough exterior is a far more broken individual who has spent their entire life trying to achieve one goal, willing to do anything and everything in their power, be it good or bad, to get what they want. Then once they get it, not only does it make them feel dissatisfied but also lonely. As a result of this, they wind up tormented shells of their own bitterness and guilt after staining their fingers from hungrily chasing their petty ambitions).

If having a romantic triangle between Whitley, Ruby and Oscar as a potential subplot for V6 leads to progress in understanding the kind of character Whitely is as well as him rekindling his relationship with his sisters, I’d be down for that.

Weiss and Winter probably never got the chance to properly bond with their little brother as Jacques probably held a much tighter hold over Whitley after he was born; according to ♦Eruption-Fang’s theory on that.

So it’d be bittersweet to see Weiss and even Winter extend a hand to their baby brother for them to all be a family again or at least stronger as a siblinghood and see whether or not he comes to accept it.

Whitley may be a portrayed as an obnoxious little turd as of V4---I expect nothing less from Jacques Schnee Jr. or Mini Jacques--- but...I think Whitley’s redeemable. If Jacques was a prick to his wife and his daughters, imagine what kind of physical and emotional abuse Whitley endured as his only son.

Or...for all we know Whitley could secretly be a sociopathic psychopath with plans to brutally kill off his father, General James Ironwood and the entire Atlas Council as well as anybody else who gets in the way of his pursuit of ultimate power and total sovereignty over Atlas.

Cause why stop at just being the Heir to the Schnee Dust Company? Why not just rule all of Atlas and eventually Remnant? As a matter of fact, why not just make Whitley join up with Salem while we’re at it too.

Okay. I know that last point is quite farfetched but it would be hilariously ironic if it became canon, am I right? Just to highlight the paradox that Jacques parenting methods practically turned his youngest spawn into an antisocialist monster. Y’know like the Mini Trump of the World of Remnant. How’s that for a twist?

But seriously, if we get all of that development I described above with Whitley while coupled together with making our two simple souls: Ruby Rose and Oscar Pine, realize their own deeper connection and feelings for each other as an added bonus and flavour to this delicious plot pot, then this squiggle meister is pretty game for indulging in all that goodness.
