Carnivine Evolution!
I'll try to keep these shorter from now on, I'm not sure that people enjoy the drama behind what amounts to a scribbley stegosaurus with armor. More importantly, it allows me consistently get through my DAMN BACKLOG.
Also there's barely a pokedex order anymore I'm just going through my oldest to newest
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Introducing Hyedra! (Combination of hydra + yedra, a hyponym of Ivy). These guys are based on full and overflowing pots of Venus Flytraps, which I think is actually pretty bad for the plant as they all have to compete for space and food...
Tumblr media
Not for the Hyedra, though! Their increased bulk and more importantly increased number of teeth from their Carnivine origins allows them to take down larger prey much more often than their unevolved siblings. Of course, a Hyedra is never actually full as a side effect of every meal only filling one of up to twelve stomachs, but at least it serves as a nice family bonding experience :) Until half the family starves and their heads shrivel and need to be plucked from the main body but let's not worry about that.
Hyedra actually started as a very similar but much more empty design that was meant to play off of beholders from DnD
Didn't do it very well, but it was there at least.
Tumblr media
Overall, I went with the simpler leg design and arm design as it made them more personable and more fun to imagine moving about.
Also I'm calling it here: this is my favorite shiny that I've made so far I love it so much (until I make a trans-flag-colored shiny which, is not unlikely).

Hysterix and Dimacrodon!
aaaaaaa I forgot to post yesterday I was playing minecraft with my friend aaaaaaaaaa
God I'm never going to reach the art that I'm actually proud of at this rate
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based off of Platyhystrix and Dimetrodon, these two are based off of the theory that Dimetrodon's sail was used for intimidation, combined with famous false-face intimidation displays on creatures throughout history to turn its famous sail into a toothy grimace.
While Hysterix is a bit too young and anxiety-riddled to properly make use of its disorienting and diversionary psychic powers granted to it via use of its sail, its older sibling in Dimacrodon is an expert in using its abilities to both defend itself and to feed itself. Having little to no capacity to hunt or even forage, a Dimacrodon is evolved to subsist solely on the fear and negative energy its intimidating and illusory excel at creating. It's favorite and most reliable strategy for feeding is lying in ambush and luring simple-minded hunters towards its true body using an appetizing illusion of a Rattata or Pidgey, only to lash out in menacing snarls, deafening screeches, and blinding lights emanating from its sail, sending any would-be hunter running for their lives.
While extraordinarily rare, a Dimacrodon in an excess of fear is free to gluttonize this abundant resource, and with the increased energy a few special specimens are able to metamorphize into...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mega Dimacrodon! First Mega since the Starters!
While a normal Dimacrodon is a mild nuisance with illusions that lose effectiveness on anything more intelligent than a human child, a Mega Dimacrodon is an insidious but silent horror capable of infesting and overrunning entire settlements through psychic ability alone.
Capable of unexplainably manifesting in any sufficiently hidden and dark areas (including but not limited to: alleyways, basements, and behind large pieces of furniture that its dimensions should be unable to fit behind) and armed with dozens of glowing eyes that can induce insanity at a mere glance, a Mega Dimacrodon's psychic abilities are unmatched by any other Pokemon on the island, used solely to cultivate and feast on as much fear as possible. Targeting human settlements, a Mega Dimacrodon's hunting patterns consist of hunkering down in as discreet of a location and possible and using its illusions- which are almost impossible to even recognize as illusions and easily able to fool even Human adults- to hide its true body, cultivate paranoia and distrust, and feast on its spoils. If left unchecked, a well-established settlement can be reduced to babbling hysteria within a few months, with ancient artifacts even suggesting that one settlement worshiped a Mega Dimacrodon for up to 50 years, violently defending its true body from other settlements and offering up all that they owned to the beast.
Any strange occurrences observed, such as civilians disappearing after ducking into dead ends or dangerous Pokemon inexplicably appearing outside windows, are to be reported to the nearest Trainer or Gym leader, as these are possibly illusions caused by a Mega Dimacrodon. Acting quickly is the key to defeating a Mega Dimacrodon, as it is most vulnerable before it can fully cultivate an aura of fear within its hunting grounds, to a point where merely finding its true body while in this vulnerable period can cause it to dissipate in a suffocating flash of pure darkness, leaving behind only amnesia for those under its madness-inducing effects and its pitch-black "slobber" excreted by its sail. Said slobber actually functions as a surprisingly effective skincare ointment, and is prized by dermatologists and dermatology-inclined individuals who are able to stave off the minor impulses of cannibalism present after application.

I should go in pokedex order though
Also Schmody is my name on other platforms, considered using it here but I wanted some variety (Plus I'm probably going to change it soon anyways).
These are the starters for that Fakemon region i mentioned in my bio! They are, VERY old, back when I still used that scribbley ass brush
Tumblr media
You'll notice that the Pokedex entries are long and dense. This is a recurring pattern that will only get worse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These guys are pretty clearly based off of Parasaurolophus and instruments, primarily woodwinds! Pixiesong is based off of ocarinas with a maraca tail (which doubles as a shaker 'cause it's just a little babeye), Parasprite based off of flutes and saxophones, and Faelophus inspired by digeridoos, with a yidaki snail tail and some extra little panflute spines running along its back. This is also my personal pick for favorite starter fakemon in this region, but it does have the advantage by being grass type (grass type is one of my favorite types, behind poison and ground :3).

Jestsera!
Sorry I was sick yesterday and fell asleep at 6:30
For some reason I've always associated masquerade aesthetics with steel and metal specifically. I could not explain to you why that is the case. Competive wise, I also need to nerf Subdew probably by just making it trap the user: 140 power jaw lock is obscene. Also I'm probably going to change this shiny and make it just a secret palette obtainable by giving this guy a specific nickname if this ever becomes more than a few pictures in my gallery; it's too jarring and a bit too explicit of a reference for my tastes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Pokemon displays remarkably high intelligence and a strangely advanced interest in their metal masks. Starting life as an unremarkable bulb beneath the muck of the Hazy bog, a Jestsera rapidly grows until it reaches the size of a small human child, at which point the nutrients it was planted with are not enough to sustain it. Extending its tendrils above ground, it lies in ambush, luring simple-minded prey into its clutches with the shiny globs of sticky dew that line its tendrils. While hard to remove without specific equipment, the sticky dew is harmless on its own and only serves to constrain prey. In order to fully kill and consume trapped prey, a Jestsera will emerge from its subterranean rest and proceed to perform an erratic "dance", composed primarily of shaking the captured prey about until it's too dizzy to walk and slamming its head on any nearby object- such as tree trunks and large rocks- to inflict blunt force trauma on its prey. Its mask is of great use during these dances, as it protects the Jestsera from its own strikes and slams, a protection not granted to its captive prey. After its food is sufficiently battered and beaten, it will bury both itself and its prey beneath the soil and repeat this process again, absorbing the nutrients from its kill while it waits.
Useful as they may be during its hunting practices, a Jestsera's mask is much more valued by the Sundew Pokemon for its role as a social tool in intra-species relationships. Jestsera, while not uncommon to find on their lonesome, are much more fond of grouping up with dozens of their own kind, creating a sticky minefield (colloqially known as a "Dewford") impossible to navigate by conventional means. Each Jestsera's mask is highly important in these tight-knit groups: while Jestsera are not opposed to using the sharp edges of their masks and a last-ditch weapon, and Jestsera in the same Dewford can be observed trading masks between one another, a Jestsera that loses its mask is marked as an outcast. The prescence of a Maskless Jestsera joining up with a Dewford is most often followed by every member of the Dewford uprooting themselves and migrating away from the maskless outcast. These exiled Jestsera will often remain outcasts for the rest of their lives, fashioning their own crude masks from whatever is available, ranging from lilypads to skulls to still-living Gossifleurs.
As much as their masks are valued and important for their social structure, a Jestsera's beloved faceplate is not immune to the elements, wearing down and rusting over time. Scared of the possibility of their masks breaking and corroding, a Dewford of Jestsera will collectively uproot and begin a jaunty and dance-filled annual migration towards the nearest human settlement. In any other case, a herd of wild Pokemon descending upon a town would be a grand disaster that demands the attention of multiple of the best trainers on the island, a Jestsera Dewford is not only anticipated, but welcomed by the villagers. When within the walls of a human village, a Jestsera's frantic dances and energetic bouncing is replaced with a gentle rocking and a desire for transactional business. Seeking a blacksmith, each Jestsera will take turns offering their masks to be repaired and polished, and in return for this metalwork each Jestsera will give their sticky dew as payment. This dew is highly prized for its use in highly effective bug-catchers, keeping food storages safe from bug Pokemon and allowing islanders to sleep tight without letting the bed bugs bite.
Because of this relationship with settlements, Jestsera, both masked and unmasked, are surprisingly some of the most harmless Pokemon on Gändvita, refusing to use their hunting tactics on a Human, although they are still fond of carrying and playfully dancing about with anyone that stumbles into their tendrils. Only during extreme bouts of hunger will a Jestsera harm a Human; If this should be the case, make sure to call out and identify yourself to the attacking Jestsera, as it will likely recognize your voice as that of a human and halt the attack, allowing you to escape with only a minor concussion.
aaaaAAAA WHY DID I WRITE SO MUCH
THIS ISN'T EVEN THE ONLY ENTRY I MEANT TO PUT IN THIS POST
i like designing creatures too much ;~; (and also this Pokemon is just one of my favorites)
I'll make a followup post with the other half of this Pokemon's line in it. I'll do it today as well I swear. This post is too long as is.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far though, love you!

Regional, mascot?
I forgot to post yesterday I was working on schoolwork and chaining in doodle world sowwy ;w;
I also slept for most of the day school killed me today so I'm only posting one line. However, it's a long one, so buckle up
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The format of these older images is awful but to be honest I would still do it like this in the present day: it's the most information in one place as possible and is convenient when just generally sharing information. But when I'm TRYING TO DO A COOL THING AND GIVE THE MASCOT THEIR SPOTLIGHT- hhhhhh regardless, this is Sqishgo and Lorimato! Sqishgo is not based on any one particular species in particular, while Lorimato is based off of the Loricatosaur! (if only because it made the name work better lol).
Lorimato is pretty obviously based on the classic tomato pincushion, with the idea being that its pins get pushed further into its body and pop out of the other side as full spikes! It's honestly one of my favorite designs for how simple but effective it is.
Sqishgo, meanwhile, is based on both stressballs and literal marketable plushies. They are stupid and dumb and me and my friend that I do this with love them. Sqishgo has undergone literally ZERO design changes, not even in name: their very first sketch was made in five minutes and my friend called it absolutely perfect. The only thing you could get Sqishgo on changing around is it's evolutions, which is a doozy of a story.
Ok so to start, Sqishgo and Loricato originates from when me and my paleo-friend who i do this with were JUST starting to be friends and JUST started drawing digitally, let alone drawing fakemon, so communication and understanding of each other was shaky.
also i found a unique glimring while writing this and passively chaining for unique fluffi I hate it here
Tumblr media
Ok, anywho, Sqishgo was original supposed to evolve from a normal type stegosaur into a large and armored grass/steel type stegosaur, to which my friend sent this concept that they had made and had been sitting in their gallery for years prior:
Tumblr media
I know that I shouldn't be putting down people who are trying their best at making art, but I have known them for a few years now and I have been the only one drawing for their region idea, a lot of the time TO THIS DAY they don't have anything more to a concept other than "base creature" + "typing" + "name" and the actual design is all on me. With that said, I feel justified to say that there's a reason I keep saying "paleo-friend I do this with" instead of "paleo-friend I work with".
Even disregarding the very amateur art and acknowledging that I can have a bias to my own designs, I do not like this design concept: stegosaur with leaf plates works perfectly fine, plays off of their biology even, but there is SO LITTLE to this design that it's just infuriatingly boring to me, and my friend wanted it as-is with as little changes as possible. It's not anything more complicated than "just a normal stegosaur with leaf plates in armor", and its not stupidly simple enough to be endearingly hilarious, like flamigo or dudunsparce.
So as I was designing Sqishgo, I mentioned playing further off of the stressball idea and making it in a pincushion, and since I had expressed disapproval for the above design and my friend didn't put up much of a fight against the idea, I went with it and completed Lorimato's design as a replacement to the "armored stegosaur" evolution
As it turns out, my friend thought that Lorimato WAS Sqishgo, and was VERY against Lorimato replacing the armored stego. This resulted in a large argument that, to be honest hasn't fully resolved itself when talking about designing the fakemon for this region.
I didn't want a big fight and I still wanted to be friends with them, so
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did both
This is Ramparmatus, which takes the steel typing from Lorimato and gives it grass as well. Playing off of this type-borrowing, it's evolutionary method is just a more complicated method of evolving Lorimato. Don't worry, if this ever becomes an actual game we'll put in an npc who will gives hints as to how to evolve Sqishgo.
My thoughts about thisssssss are the same as the original concept image. The beetlejuice-scary-face head is doing a LOT of footwork keeping this from being my least favorite design in the dex by a mile (instead it's just my least favorite design by a couple hundred yards). Hopefully, this caters to an audience who jut wants a big cool-looking tank, god knows I'm not in it.
Also I recognize I gave its horizontally swinging tail a vertical axehead these are old and I haven't updated them I'm sorry be nice to meeeeeeeee
Luckily, this doesn't have to end on a sour note
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Barribarbs! A grass/poison kentrosaurus, it's the hardest one to get out of any of Sqishgo's evolutions, and as such borrows the grass type from Ramparmatus. This guy was originally supposed to be one of Sqishgo's 2 evolutions with Ramparmatus before the miscommunication occurred and Lorimato got added on. They are also more loyal to their marketable plushie origins: they're based on images of long abandoned plushies becoming overrun and interwoven with plant-life, most notably the infamous "Murby".
Tumblr media
The general concept for this design is a kentrosaur with an evergrowing, spiky bramble tail that it wraps around its body to become a living bramble patch, and I frankly love this guy so much for it. The pokedex entry is also one of my personal favorites, just for the implication that every shiny Barribarbs is a serial murderer who will kill again.
While I don't like Ramparmatus, I don't think that after all of this I would get rid of it: it represents my friend, who despite me bitching and moaning about them in this project, I only dislike in this project. They are still my friend outside of it, and I love them all the same in that regard.
Also because Ramparmatus is so self-indulgent of a design for my friend I get to make my own self-indulgent designs which you all will see later >:3
Sorry for the venting and long post lol. Also I'm going to start tagging these posts with "gändvita region" now so I can more easily organize yippie :3

Gändvitan Regional Fish!
Typing this while chaining for a unique Fluffi in doodle world I can quit anytime I want I swear
While a pattern on much shakier ground than things like regional birds or regional bugs, I still am branding these guys as the "regional fish" because they're realistically the earliest fish pokemon you could get in this region and are some of the more "basic" water types here
(For the record we don't have an actual regional bug but trust me we make up for it in spades later down the line).
Tumblr media
This little guy (and their big sibling but we'll get to them later), despite what their name may imply, are NOT based on platypuses. I know that the designs between them and real platypuses are similar but a keen eye can spot the differences. In reality, they are based on the prehistoric Platecarpus, which is why he and his siblings have such exaggerated and pronounced eyes.
Tumblr media
And also to cater to me specifically, the world's No. 1 salmonoid fan.
Tumblr media
Words can not fully explain how much I love these guys and their design. Unironically, these are some of my favorite designs in anything, ever.
Now, when Platypup is taken to a special lake, high up on a mountain, in Gyarados-like fashion it becomes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Platycolval! Aside from DESPERATELY needing a new name, this big fellow is based on old-timey depictions of "here be monsters" that would be drawn in the corners of old maps to identify unfamiliar and dangerous parts of the seas. This is why Platycolval has the eyes and ornate patterns running down it's body, as both can be found in these classic little depictions that have always been in my mind ever since I laid eyes on them for whatever reason
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these two in particular are the main inspirations for Platycolval.
Also additional trivia: both its shiny and its dex entry are references to Felix Colgrave's short film "Dry Run", which I am endlessly fond of and I implore that you watch.

Mega Jestsera
lets go baby 2 posts in one day I can handle this I'm strong
This fellow is inspired by the classic "God Clown/Jester" trope, like with things like Dimentio, Pennywise, Kefka Palazzo, Jevil (which is what its current shiny references), and Marx (Kirby Marx not irl Marx). Banger trope honestly it should be done more.
Competitively, this guy's ability needs a rework; I Like the idea of stealing typings of ko'd pokemon but it's much too complex in its current form. I would probably just change it to an entirely new ability if I ever find the time to go back and redo these.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I probably should've said it earlier but I'm just writing revised Pokedex entries in these posts now. It'll make more sense once we get further along and I stopped writing the Pokedex entries on the actual image but for now they're in here and on the image. Consider the ones in the post more canon if you care about that sort of thing.
Naturally, Jestsera that have just emerged from the soil for the first time are maskless and must rely on other Jestsera to supply it with its first faceplate. Rarely however, specific Jestsera are born with their own mask, and are treated with reverence by their kind. After reaching maturity, these revered Jestsera will leave their homely Dewford and isolate themself as far from its bog of origin as possible for up to 20 years. During this time, their intake of food increases in order to facilitate a drastic increase in size, strength, and intelligence, as well as increased aggression to any other revered Jestsera encountered during this period. If a revered Jestsera is able to survive these two decades of isolation, hunger, and intraspecies competition, it will emerge as a Mega Jestsera, ruler of the Hazy Bog of Gändvita.
Fond of scavenging, a Mega Jestsera's numerous tentacles and sticky digits ensure that very little can escape its grasp. Its many tendrils can pull it through deep muck, push it through water, and even allow it to scale vertical cliff faces at startling speeds, which it uses to scour the lands for its favorite treasure: high quality metals. Able to use chemicals stored within its bulbous chest to make its solution of sticky dew heavily corrosive, it is able to melt, cut, and shape scrap metal into any configuration it pleases. Most often, a Mega Jestsera's first tool is a crowbar-like scepter, favored for its use to not only pry ideal pieces from larger hunks of scrap metal, but to break open and give it an upper hand against armored adversaries, which a Mega Jestsera would otherwise struggle against.
While a portion of its scavenged scrap metal is used in custom tools for use by the Mega Jestsera, the majority of what it harvests goes toward fashioning various trinkets and tools for other creatures, Pokemon and Humans included. Even against the deadliest opponents, a Mega Jestsera will first offer one of these trinkets and tools, with those that accept the offer becoming "allies" to the Mega Sundew Pokemon, and can expect it to repeatedly return with even more gifts. This process of gifting serves to build it an alliance, with the goal of amassing a following that will serve it in return for protection and further gifts. This will rarely succeed on humans- not many are willing to drop everything in their lives to serve a plant Pokemon in a swamp for a few shiny trinkets- but is highly effective on smarter Pokemon- particularly those that enjoy hoarding and are physically weak such as Corvisquire, Zigzagoon, and Timbejara- and normal Jestsera, both of whom will serve and obey the Mega Jestsera's every command.
Despite this method of gifting to win creatures over being generally ineffective on humans, ancient records tell of a mighty Mega Jestsera king, who had learned to communicate freely with Humans and was the leader of a grand society within the Hazy Bog. This civilization had a military force, established trade routes with other ancient cities on the island, and was even co-ruled by a human queen, who led the city for many years after the death of the Jestsera king. The hardened footpaths, sunken mudbrick buildings, and gunk-covered tablets scattered throughout the Hazy Bog are believed to be the last remnants of this society.
This pattern of gifting and alliance all serve one purpose to the Mega Jestsera: to protect its offspring. Encased in an unnaturally resilient metal bulb and fiercely defended is a Mega Jestsera's one and only seed, which it will only plant in its last breaths. This bulb, should it survive, will birth a revered, already-masked Jestsera, and it will go on to become the next in a long line of Mega Jestsera to repeat the cycle again. If the bulb is to be planted before death, the revered Jestsera offspring is likely to attempt to dispose of its own parent, a conflict that often results in the death of both parties. However, should this bulb be destroyed through any means, a Mega Jestsera will refuse to create another for unknown reasons, resulting in one less Mega Jestsera on the island for the rest of history.

Regional Zubat Family!
Tumblr media
These guy's concept is incredibly foggy: they literally started with only the desire for a Zubat with a full ring-mouth of teeth in order to facilitate hunting like a cookie cutter shark, messily gouging chunks out of the large pokemon that are commonplace on the Island. This then gradually evolved into the bloodsucking-bat pokemon becoming flying organs, external hearts that steal other's blood, mostly represented in vein-like fringe around its neck and vein-like legs dangling from its body.
These guys also started as, lets call it a "reference" to Monster Hunter's "Qurio" and not "just a Zubat cosplaying as a Qurio".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These guys follow a similar vein (haha) to Gändvitan Zubat, carving away flesh to get to the blood within. However, with a larger mouth, scooping tongue, and greater appetite they are much louder and messier eaters, making them awful for stealthily biting chunks out of larger pokemon without waking them. With its natural skillset unsuited for stealth, Gändvitan Golbat are often ousted from their swarms of Gändvitan Zubat, typically after the Golbat's conspicous feeding methods startle a herd of potential Zubat food before the rest of the swarm can have their fill of blood.
Concept wise, it's literally just a Golbat but edgier and fleshier, artery-like ears nonwithstanding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Golbat are despised by their Zubat siblings, Gändvitan Crobat are treated with frantic reverence by their bloodhungry underlings. While the emergence of a Crobat on Gandvita is rare, mostly only seen under new moons, their appearance is greatly feared and signified by disappearances of livestock, large Pokemon, and even people, all dragged back to the Crobat's caves in the clutches of its hand-like wings . Despite the large supply of blood, Gändvitan Crobats actually consume relatively little of this hemoglobin, instead pumping throughout their body and dripping it indiscriminately from the tips of their wings, turning it into a hyper-nutrient fluid only palatable by its Zubat followers.
While even the most opportunist hemophages on the island, such as the Osteopheles (more on them later!), refuse to eat a Crobat's fluids, plants eagerly slurp it up, able to process the vile liquid the same as any fertilizer. Harmless in small amounts, plants treated extensively with Crobat fluids grow spindly and fleshy, reliant on this fluid in order to survive. In the deep caverns that a Gändvitan Crobat calls home, the mosses that line the walls are fed with these fluids daily, covering the walls and converting the dank caves into house-sized organs, with the Crobat responsible for such grisly sights situated in the deepest and darkest corners of these "Meat Moss Grottos", as they have been colloquially dubbed by the islanders.
These guys are ugly as shit and I love them for it, being explicitly designed after a human heart (plus some Shara Ishvalda Wings for just a bit more monster hunter references). These bats also boast some of my favorite and most-fun-to-write pokedex entries that I've made (so much so that I've basically just written a revised version in this post lol). The idea of a Crobat being responsible for turning certain cave systems on the island into Mystery-Flesh-Pit-Like organ systems , beating away in the deepest pits while its throngs of Zubat underlings act as an immune system is mmmm hits so many of my favorite tropes.

Gändvitan regional birds!
As with any pokemon region, it is a time honored tradition to have a boring bird that, at best, will languish in BL hell, and at worst may not be remembered at all (Rip Toucannon you're so much better than Staraptor).
However, as you may have picked up on the previous posts, this region has a big prehistoric theme! This has granted me the freedom to make something,,,, marginally more interesting I guess
Tumblr media
This is Timbejara! Based off of Tapejaras, the entire thought process was turning the axe-shaped crest that it sports into an actual stone axe and making it into essentially a convergently evolved woodpecker, chopping into trees to get to the juicy grubs inside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man, going back through these only makes me want to go back over them again. I hate that it took me SO UNGODLY LONG to wean myself off of the scribbley brush because it was similar to pencil and paper, which I was more comfortable with than using a flatter and more professional-looking brush. These were all made in the learning phase of drawing digitally (that I'm not fully certain that I'm even out of to begin with), so forgive me but we're going to be stuck with children's drawings for a while before we evolve to teenager's drawings.
ahem Anywho, Tuvanize was added at the request of my paleo-obsessed friend who was the inspiration and essentially functions as my rubber-ducky-debugging for this entire project. While they are massive fans of conventionally cool-looking pokemon such as Garchomp, Greninja, and Ceruledge, I struggle to care about this genre of pokemon, and Tuvanize is no different. Doesn't help that, as stated many times before, this image is so old that it would practically be made from the ground up if I could find the time.
Tuvanize's entire gimmick is functioning as a lightning rod for the metal pieces in its head and arms, allowing the electricity to arc between its body and function as wings. This, in a moment of complete stupidity when I first made Tuvanize, is not reflected in its abilities at all when LIGHTNING ROD and VOLT ABSORB are RIGHT THERE.
Tumblr media
also the first drawing of these guys looked awful and the less that is said the better.

Gändvita Region Mega Starters!
Ok last one for tonight I want to fool around on roblox instead of working on any of my drawing projects or doing homework
I just love yapping its so fun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course there's megas everyone likes megas (also I like to make them they are fun to make)
Ignoring the fact that the sig move refers to the ability "Bardic", which is what Casanova was originally called before I changed its name, I still very much like these guys despite how simple they are. Yes I am implying that one Faelophus fucked so good that it single-handedly gave birth to the species. I will not apologize.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one I joked about with my friends about its downright apocalyptic pokedex entry compared to its goofy ass design. Unfortunately, for most megas I don't have much to say: a lot of them are just bulked up god-versions of their final evos, making the final design look more intimidating and powerful-looking rather than building up on the concept of the whole line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite this being my least favorite of the starter megas, I feel that its the most truthful to base pokemon megas. While its rocky back is now based on the "skull island" trope, its pirate hat is actually a remnant from its first design brought back from its first design of "dreadfall"
Tumblr media
This was one of the first things I had drawn digitally on my drawing tablet, and I was very happy with it when I first drew it :). And then I went to bed, went to school, came back to my computer, and realized I HATED this design, still do. It's too turtle-like, too goofy for what should be the most imposing starter, and its pose is AWFUL. What was I even thinking putting the 30 foot tall sauropod into the same pose as an excited puppy???
Despite my hatred of this design, leaning further into exaggerated pirate tropes was how its mega was turning out, and I was still particularly attached to the stone pirate hat, so it survived the great purge of Dreadfallopolis. The stony cavern back though, that was perfect I loved how i did it on this one, and as such I literally ripped it off of Dreadfall and built Dreadfloht around it.
Tumblr media
Also this was my main sketch/doodle of Dreadfloht that I based the digital version off of look how tiny it is lol bro is nestled inbetween my math problems.

Gändvitan Region Water Starters!
Oh hey look it's the "my first ever digital drawing" guys
Tumblr media
Last I checked these guys are my paleo-obsessed friend's favorite starter. Brachwater (Etymology: Backwater + Brachiosaur I swear I'm not complete dogwater at names) is based off of a watering can, pouring water out from the specialized nostrils on its head, with its shiny based off of a teapot! Gloomarsh, meanwhile, is based off of a much more straightforward loch ness and "swamp ghoul" aesthetic with a shiny based on nothing in particular. I imagine a herd of Gloomarsh behaving like a pack of river otters, yelping and barking as they twist and turn through the muck at startling speed. Despite Gloomarsh's design being literally unchanged from its first sketch and still enjoying it, I hate the pokedex entry for it and wish that I could find the power to remember and the time to go back and redo it but alas, I'll push it off until I inevitably redo the entire canvas

Originally called "Dreadfall", Dreadfloht is based off of Dreadnoughtus and the trope of islands being on the back of large sea creatures and fool's gold and all of that jazz. These designs are definitely overdesigned for a non-legendary pokemon, but at the same time I am a firm believer in the rule of cool so >:3
That said I will probably remove the crystals if I ever redo these canvases
The shiny Dreadfloht looks very tasty, I would slurp its juices and they would probably taste like orange juice

Gändvitan Region Fire Starters!
oh yeah this region is called the Gändvita region. I'll explain further once this blog is more than 20 minutes old and also I'm not awake at 1 am from a failed attempt to focus up and finish homework

Igneramus and Wildlyre! These guys are pretty simple fire type birds, made to be the silliest out of all the starters :3. While Wildlyre is, admittedly just there as the awkward middle stage with not much depth to its design, Igneramus is based off of drinking birds, which frankly we are long overdue for a pokemon for.

This is PEAK design
Ok anywho

These images are so old that they've received name changes but I haven't gone back to update them and it pains me everytime I look at it. This is Shamolda, a Gallimimus and meteor inspired Fire/Electric type! This one has my favorite shiny out of the starter trio, and was originally my favorite starter, but Mr. Grasswhistle won me over in due time. While unintentional, I do like how this line kind of represents a reverse evolution as it goes through its pokemon evolution: Igneramus is based off of a chicken/dodo/general flightless bird, which then becomes Wildlyre, a giant ratite (in my mind specifically a Moa but it can be any big ratite), which then goes further back on the evolutionary timeline into a full Galli.

This was the absolute first thing I had ever drawn with my drawing tablet and, by extension, the first thing I had ever drawn digitally and with an actual art program.

How far I've come but also I could be a lot farther
