Rose Gardens at Midnight (F/M, 1k words)
For Day 1 of @flufftober. Inspired by the prompt : "I've got you"
Smiling, Kaede sniffed at the midnight air all around her - clean and fresh, with a constant undertone of roses. Sweet, fragrant ones - some that smelt like honey, and others that smelt like turkish delight. All amazing, and just strong enough for her to be able to smell them when walking in the rose gardens, but weak enough that they weren’t overpowering. They were a beautiful backdrop to her midnight walks, not the main event.

Smiling, Kaede sniffed at the midnight air all around her - clean and fresh, with a constant undertone of roses. Sweet, fragrant ones - some that smelt like honey, and others that smelt like turkish delight. All amazing, just strong enough for her to be able to smell them when walking in the rose gardens, but weak enough that they weren’t overpowering. They were a beautiful backdrop to her midnight walks, not the main event.
And she was so grateful to the gardeners who were able to maintain this place, to make every rose be so beautiful and perfect. They all bloomed wonderfully during the day, and even at night the perfectly pristine petals were lovely. They were weak enough to be peeled back with the slightest bit of force, showing off their large and intricate designs - while feeling velvety smooth.
There were so many colours in the rose garden as well, beautiful during the day and during night-time. They looked different in the moonlight, but they looked no less magical - no less pristine. You could have told anyone that the garden was made for night viewings, and looking around, they would have believed it. Something about faint, silvery beams of starlight ethereally lighting up flowers was rather magical. It made you feel as though you were in a story.
Kaede’s favourite part of the rose garden looked just as beautiful in starlight as it did in daytime. The roses contained in it were lush and healthy; some delicate rosebuds no bigger than a baby’s fist, others magnificent and large - ones she would have to hold in two hands for it to fit comfortably. But all were a wondrous snowy white colour, pure like freshly fallen snow - or the feathers of a dove.
At the least they looked an unblemished white during the day with the sun’s rays over them. But at times like this, although some of their petals still had perfect swan-esque finishes, the roses also reflected the moon. Almost pure white, but also (undoubtedly) having magnificent surfaces of a subtle silver. Almost hinting at riches and beauty, or perhaps more shimmering things like opals and jewellery twisted into extravagant pieces, delicate yet astonishingly detailed.
They paired beautifully with the white marble the balcony was made out of; its balustrade looking almost the exact same colour. It was smooth and cold to the touch, yet not unwelcomingly. When she looked at it, Kaede could tell where she leaned on it - the careful polishing had a small indent, just wide enough for both of her wrists to comfortably fit. Kaede didn’t mind what most nobles would see as an imperfection, for her it just showed history - a memory of how much she used this place, and how much it meant to her. The same was shown on the bench here, although to a lesser extent. The ruffles and layers of silk in her normal clothing prevented as much of a mark being made - especially against stone.
Gazing around the garden, Kaede allowed herself to relax in the tranquillity. Sitting patiently and smiling, until suddenly something caught her eye. A procession, marked by golden fire that lit up the otherwise dark patch surrounding the castle, was moving steadily forward. Visitors were arriving at the castle. Curious, she stood up - going to the balcony and leaning over it - trying to see what was happening. For a few seconds she was able to watch them going along, before they were obscured. Alone in the rose garden, Kaede felt herself pout slightly.
Inside the castle grounds, there were many trees - and for some reason they had grown to block her access to the castle’s main grounds, or at least when she was this height. Give her only an extra inch or so, and she would have been perfect - or at least able to see from it, but alas. Looking about the place, Kaede once again considered the merits of bringing a stool to permanently live here, just in case occasions like these happened.
For a second, Kaede didn’t spot Shuichi - afterall, the black clothing he was in didn’t exactly make him visible - but once she did, she smiled. Once she had gotten over the slight nerves of seeing him suddenly appear like that, of course. He smiled back at her and, as if reading her mind, apologised, “I’m sorry for scaring you, it really is just a bad habit.”
“Oh, you don’t need to worry!” Kaede reassured him, “Why are you here?”
“Guests at the castle arrive in around an hour, I wanted you to be made aware.”
“And it’s obvious I’m here, huh?”
“I checked your room first,” Shuichi offered, but he didn’t deny it, “This was the next logical choice. The garden is beautiful at this time of light.”
That was something Kaede agreed with, and she looked around the scenery, “You know, the procession has just passed into castle grounds…”
Recognition sparked in Shuichi’s eyes, and he smiled, “Do you want me to hold you up while you look over the balcony?”
“Can you?” Kaede didn’t bother disguising the way her eyes flashed in gratitude, but she did smile and go up to him.
“Of course,” Shuichi answered easily. With a practised ease, Kaede went up onto the balcony - patiently waiting as Shuichi walked up as well, before he gently lifted her up - hands strong and steady, with a reassuring smile.
Now those precious few inches above the ground, Kaede immediately scanned the castle ground to see where the carriages were. Spotting them, she tried to lean forward even more - to get a slightly closer look.
As she went forward, she was suddenly conscious of how far she’d moved - almost as though she was slipping. As though she was plummeting - as though she was-
Strong hands held onto her waist even more firmly, and she was suddenly aware of Shuichi again. Patiently by her side. Hearing her panicked, shortened breaths he gently reassured her, “It’s ok, you won’t fall. I’ve got you.”

saiibo ponies real, inescapable even
one of my much much older aus but these doodles are much newer!! mlp is another media special and close to my heart, like sonic, it’s one of the reasons I really picked up art!!!! so ofc gotta mix my favs with it!!
i do have fully colored and planned out designs of these two, but the refs are quite old and outdated (style wise LMFAOO) I’ll need to make fresh new ones sometime soon ehehe
but for a little info, shuichis a unicorn! a more traditional unicorn at that! he’s not royalty or anything but he does come from a long line of strictly unicorn family due to the area he lived in, so he’s got more traditional unicorn traits, like the tail and curved horn!! though he hides his horn under a cap for a long time after moving to a big city with his uncle due to insecurities.. now he lives on his own after having finished school there, but he does still help out his uncle at work!!!
and kiibo is a robot pegasus!! made by the one and only professor idabashi, who is a dragon!!! i would say hes “world renowned” but he’s really just a hermit who keeps to himself, he doesn’t even live around other dragons, nor acts like one.. but his crafts sure are jaw dropping!! kiibo himself is run by a special sort of magic stone, unknown to even the alicorns, that idabashi had discovered on a night out looking for materials. he is a metal sculptor, mending metal plates with the fire in his breath, making toys, trinkets, and art! But he put a pause to that temporarily as he ran tests with said stone and realized its capabilities, and after many many many trials and errors, he created kiibo!!!! idabashi kept kiibo by his side for a long time, teaching him the ins and outs of equestria, it’s history, and language but eventually he felt kiibo would do so much better being around and learning from other ponies instead of being isolated, so! eventually idabashi found a nice warehouse in a city to continue his craft and set up shop, as well as enrolling kiibo into school!! kiibo is also graduated now, but still lives with idabashi, and helps in his shop sometimes!!!
obviously kiibo and shuichi had met through school, as they both coincidentally ended up in the same city, but they didn’t really properly get the chance to interact until afterwards, and!!! yeah!!! there’s some lore!!
this au used to just be the drv3 killing game but ponies but I really wanted to make it more like my sonic au where they kind of… fit into mlp canon if that makes sense? lol

In order to make myself depressed I decided to write down all my longfic wips and categorize how many words they are and how finished they are.
When the Dust Settles- Danganronpa, multiple pairings - 80k words, 75% done.
drv3 kids are rescued before the filth murder and sent to Jabberwocky island to hide from Danganronpa. Not canon compliant because I forgot some of the details about how the third game ended when I started it, then decided I liked the misremembered ending better.
Baby, Don't Hurt Me - Sk8, Tadaai - 39k words, 20% done. maybe. my outline for this one is pretty loose.
Tadashi takes a bullet for Ainosuke, forcing them both to reconsider their relationship. Mostly a kind of Ainosuke rehabilitation fic about him loosing pretty much everything and having to rebuild his life from scratch. Honestly very attached to this one, but it's also sort of a 'Am I good enough to write this the way I want it' kind of thing...
The Snake, the Sun and the Blossoming Branch - sk8, matchasnakeblossom, 29k words, ?????% done.
Sequel to Recovery where Adam is dead and Tadashi is badly injured after their fall of the cliff. Tadashi doesn't know what to do with himself, but ends up with a job as the manager of Sia La Luce. This one is... complicated. I have a lot of ideas but no real plot, or maybe a lot of different ideas for plots that I'm not sure about. TBH I think I've probably written, like 60k words and shuffled them around, deleted and undeleted and I'm just stuck. A big problem is the Adam in Recovery is not really my actual impression of the character? Like, I started recovery very early in the show when Adam was still kind of Skateboard Hisoka so I just made him a pretty one-note villain, so it's hard to try and write all the Tadashi relationship stuff when the adam in that fic isn't really consistent with how I view adam... I still want to write it though. I like what i have and I like the character interactions.
Royal Pardon - hq!!, Sakuatsu, 37k words, 50% done
ABO royalty AU. Sakusa takes over Inarizaki, which was kind of a shithole. Atsumu and Osamu were planning a coup to dispose their father, and Atsumu convinces Sakusa to marry him in order to legitimize him to the people. Sakusa's a suspicious bastard and Atsumu's a tricky bastard. my first ABO fic and I was like 2k in before I realized I fucking forgot about Betas T.T. still, I have a solid outline for this one.
Star Crossed Rivals - p5, shuake, 18k words, 15% done
Up and coming actor Akechi accidentally falls in with Ren, who is working as a barista at LaBlanc. Ann is starring in a movie with Aketchi, and Shido is a retired actor who runs Akechi's talent agency that he joined to get close to Shido.
ok lol, so almost 200k words and five projects I should be working on. that's on top of an 'ideas' doc that's almost at 90k words and a handful of <5k word stories that I spun out into their own projects but haven't worked on much. that includes Plucked Strings, which I published the first chapter of and I have a lot of ideas for, or the full version of my vampire!Langa/hunter!Reki AU I wrote a short story about.
Honestly, now that I'm done wtih the Big Bang and Stolkholm is getting posted I need to decide what to work on. I always kind of want to pick dust settles since I'm so freaking close with it I just want to get it done and out there. I think I have the most momentum with Royal Pardon though...

Day 11 for Ouma Month: Royalty AU / Leadership / Triumph
Kokichi is a prince sneaking out, Kaito is a guard who knows him too well to be fooled by that.
Kokichi hefted a sigh the moment the door closed behind him, leaving him finally alone for the first time since waking. Nighttime was the only chance he got to himself, away from the watchful eyes of nobles and guards and his father. Even in his free time he had guards to accompany him. It was exhausting.
He paused, counting down from ten. Then he pushed off from the door, straight to the window. If he could only have this time for himself after dark, then he would take advantage of it and sneak out under its cover.
Nimbly he swung himself outside, digging his fingers into the windowsill until his toes found purchase on the stones below. The wind tugged at his clothes, making his heart slam against his ribcage. It reminded him that a tiny slip up could cement his death against the hard dirt below. His fingers ached; sweat beaded on his forehead, though it evaporated instantly in the cool night air.
He made it to the ground, though, adrenaline still coursing through his veins when he finally reached stable footing. A small laugh bubbled up to his lips, his relief palpable. Later the anxiety would return as he climbed back up to his room, but for now he enjoyed the pride of success lifting his heart to the sky. Now just to sneak out, and he was free for the night.
He made it just outside of the wall before he was caught.
A heavy hand landed on his head, startling him into freezing in place. Swallowing, he turned to face the person who’d caught him out, only to immediately break out into a grin once he recognized Kaito--one of the guards, and the greatest source of entertainment for Kokichi.
“Heeey, Kaito!” he drew out, his mind already working over ways to playfully rile Kaito up. “Looks like you caught me!”
Kaito shook his head. “You’re not as slick as you think you are,” he said. “You were really compliant today, which you never are. Anyone could figure out you had something planned for tonight.”
Kokichi snickered. It was refreshing, too, how frankly Kaito spoke to him. He only showed deference in front of others; in their more private moments, he treated Kokichi like he was just another person, not the future king.
“If it was so obvious, why are you the only one here? No one else stopped me.”
That gave Kaito pause, but only for a moment before he shrugged it off. “That’s not important. You know you can’t go out without a bodyguard. What if you get injured, or someone tries to kill or kidnap you?”
Kokichi pouted. “I’m just going out for a little bit. I want to explore the forest without people breathing down my neck for once.”
Kaito’s jaw tightened. “It’s our job to keep you safe.”
Clearly he wasn’t budging. That was fine, though, Kokichi could work with this. He reached up to grab Kaito’s hand, wrapping his fingers around it. Stepping back, he gave Kaito a sly smile as he tugged on his arm.
“Well, then you’ll just have to come with me then, right? Gotta come keep me safe.”
Kokichi wouldn’t mind so much having a guard around, as long as that guard was Kaito.
When Kaito seemed reluctant, resisting the pull on his hand, Kokichi added in warning, “If you don’t, I’ll just run away and then you’ll have to come catch me. I don’t mind doing that, but...”
He’d goaded Kaito into chasing him several times before. Each time, Kaito lost sight of him. Kaito winced, no doubt remembering exactly that, and Kokichi allowed his grin to widen. He hoped Kaito would refuse, despite that.
To his mild disappointment, Kaito sighed and acquiesced. “Ok fine. I’ll come with you. Just for a bit, though. Then you’re going straight back to your room and getting your ass to bed. It’s not my fault if you fall asleep through your meetings tomorrow.”
Kokichi had to laugh, giving a mock salute that made Kaito scowl. “Yes, sir! I promise it’ll be really quick,” he said.
Meanwhile, as he spun back around to dive into the forest, Kokichi started to plan all the ways he could keep Kaito out there with him for as long as possible.

Oumeno Day 2 - Part 2
Prompt: Royalty
"I have no idea."
Her mother shook her head and rubbed the bridge of her nose, "I guess we'll have to find someone else."
The princess's heart sank a little.
She didn't want to marry someone she didn't love.
Her mind raced as she left the throne room. Before she knew it, she was back in her room.
Only one thought crossed her mind as she lay down in her bed.
Run away.

Himiko sat on her balcony that night. A cloak covered her head and back, a bag slung around her shoulder. She was going to escape this castle
When Kokichi showed up that night, he didn't seem very surprised.
Himiko looked up at him, "I- I'm running away."
He looked her up and down, "You sure? It's a long journey down there."
She nodded confidently, though her legs practically vibrated with nerves.
He held his hand out to her and helped her climb up on the ledge. Just as she swung her leg over, the bedroom door opened.
Turning her head, Himiko saw Tojo standing there. She just stared for a moment before smiling and nodding, closing the door quietly.
Sighing in relief, Himiko stood on the ledge.
"I'm warning you," Kokichi started, "It's a long way down."
"I'm ready."
Kokichi made the first move, picking Himiko up by her waist and grabbing a sturdy branch from a nearby tree.
He let go as soon as they were safely on the branch. He crouched and dropped to one below it.
The redhead watched as he dropped three more branches before calling up to her, "Come on Himiko!"
Her stomach churning a bit, Himiko crouched like Oma did. Swinging her legs over the side, she dropped slowly onto the branch below.

The princess clung to Oma as they made their way through the village. Despite the time of night, the roads were bustling with life. Three girls were playing music. One on the piano, one singing, and one on the guitar. Even with such different instruments, they worked together nicely. A girl nearby was dancing to the music while a redheaded girl took pictures.
She saw a small boy with a leather jacket smoking near a bar. Another small boy was trying to sell pastries from a cart.
A girl with long brown hair was leaning against a motorcycle talking to a tall guy with spiky, purple hair.
Suddenly, she felt a tap on the shoulder. Turning, she came face to face with a girl with blonde hair. She immediately smirked when she saw Himiko's face, "Hah, looks like Kokichi's got himself a girl!"
Oma whipped around to face her before rolling his eyes, "Relax Miu, she's just passing through."
The girl, still laughing, turned and walked towards the girls playing music, sitting next to the girl playing piano.
Kokichi grabbed Himiko's hand and dragged her along.
"Wait, do you think I could explore a bit?"
He stopped, "What?"
"I've never been down here before," she reasoned, tugging on her cloak, "I'd like to explore!"
He thought for a moment, "Okay, but keep your hood up."
She beamed as she made her way towards the music.
People were dancing and giving the girls tips. The one playing guitar had messy black hair with pink streaks in it. The pianist had blonde hair with music hair clips and the singer had long blue hair.
She swayed a bit to the music and watched people go in and out of the bar. Some people in the crowd were holding beers and nearby children were dancing or drawing on the road with chalk.
Suddenly, she spotted Angie painting. Making her way over, she noticed Tenko sitting next to her smiling and leaning on the artist's shoulder. Her eyes were closed and she had a bandage wrapped around her shoulder and torso and a brace for her back.
"Angie, Tenko!"
Angie looked up and a huge smile crossed her face, "Ah, Himiko!"
She ran up to the two and Tenko's eyes opened slightly. She sat up the best she could, wincing a bit as she held out her arms, "Miko, it's so great to see you!"
As gently as possible, Himiko hugged her friend, "Are you feeling any better?"
Instead of answering, Tenko asked her own question, "Why are you here?"
"I..." she didn't really know if he should tell her, but she decided to get it over with, "I've run away."
Tenko straightened at that, hissing in pain, "What?"
"My mother wanted me to marry someone I don't love, I'd rather live down here." She looked around, "It seems so great down here!"
Angie lowered her brush, "Have you been praying to Atua every day?"
"Um, yeah."
Kokichi walked up beside her as the song changed, he held up his hand jokingly, "Wanna dance?"
She giggle a bit, "Certainly." Taking his hand, she heard Tenko hiss behind her.
"You'd so be dead right now if I wasn't hurt!"
Together, they walked into the crowd.

Saihara flipped the painting over, trailing his eyes down Kaede’s parents’ painted faces, “Yeah?”
Just as he said this, his eyes landed to Kaede, who was painted at her parent’s side -- beside her, a crudely drawn person, in the same purple, who looked eerily like Ouma, was standing, a happy grin on his face.

Ouma Month Day 11 - Royalty AU
I was excited about this prompt because I actually have a very detailed concept for a royalty AU that I haven’t really gotten around to writing anything for because I am anti-monarchy haha. I’ll leave a rambling blurb of text about it under the cut.
My AU concept really only covers my 4 fav characters from DrV3, so it stars Kaito as a crown prince, Maki as a knight, Shuichi as a lower ranking noble (he inherited land from his parents and his uncle is Kaito’s regent), and Kokichi as a member of an insurgent rebel group trying to usurp Kaito.
Shuichi, Kaito, and Maki grew up together in the castle and have become good friends. The story starts off in this period of turmoil where Kaito is almost old enough to be crowned king, which means he is spending less and less time with Maki and Shuichi. It’s the kind of vibe of the last days of school with your childhood friends before graduating and finding it harder to see each other as much. Maki is troubled by the idea of Kaito growing past them and throws herself into her work, taking on as many guard shifts as she can. This means that both Shuichi’s friends are a little too busy to help with the mystery solving shenanigannery that he gets up to, so he ends up alone most days. Another layer here is that Shuichi’s uncle plans to retire and cede his titles to Shuichi once he is no longer regent, which means Shuichi won’t have very much time to mystery solve anymore.
The day the story begins, Shuichi takes it upon himself to look into one last mystery that’s troubled the castle since before he was born. The mystery of the Palace Phantom. It’s rumored that there is a mischevious poltergeist who haunts the castle, but Shuichi suspects the paranormal phenomena could be explained by unexamined contraptions that lay in the secret passages of the castle. So as the first part of his investigation he takes it upon himself to map out said corridors and see if the entrances line up with any past sightings. He walks through the passages and gets to one behind the place where court is held in the palace when suddenly he runs right into someone.
That someone is Kokichi!
Kokichi has been living in the palace walls for some time now, using the secret passages to spy on court proceedings.
When he and Shuichi meet they have a back and forth where Kokichi convinces Shuichi that he is the mysterious phantom and was just playing a few pranks. He totally wasn’t spying or planning to overthrow the monarchy… Hahaha…. Shuichi doesn’t really want to call the palace guard on this guy so he sort of just walks him out of the castle. In the meantime they have a conversation in which Kokichi finds out that Shuichi is kind of really interesting and maybe they should talk some more.
Over the next few months Kokichi and Shuichi encounter each other a few more times, and after some appropriately wacky bonding hijinks they start just hanging out together. Privately Shuichi thinks that he might like to just run away from his troubles and just go on adventures with Kokichi forever, but he can’t really let go of his responsibilities or his duty to the friends he’s known longer. Meanwhile, Kokichi begins to be convinced that Shuichi’s direct approach to solving problems with detective work is the way a real leader would do things and he tries to persuade Shuichi that he would be a better king than Kaito, to which Shuichi responds none too happily.
The two of them share these sorts of interstitial months of running around together, getting to know each other, and almost-romance, but as Kaito’s coronation grows even closer things begin to change…
